- 2:05Speaker 1: hundred bets off in Iowa terms conditioned restrictions apply. We're
- 2:09Speaker 1: going to get into a lot of stuff. We're going
- 2:11Speaker 1: to get into WrestleMania. We're going to get into your career.
- 2:13Speaker 1: We're going to get into your Bears fandom. There's a
- 2:16Speaker 1: lot to unpack in this show. First of all, Last
- 2:19Speaker 1: night in Brooklyn Monday Night Raw that was a brutal
- 2:24Speaker 1: ending with the rock whipping your back repeatedly. How are
- 2:29Speaker 1: you feeling right now?
- 2:31Speaker 2: I mean as frank as I can be. I feel
- 2:33Speaker 2: like crap. I feel like I got I got hit
- 2:37Speaker 2: by a car.
- 2:38Speaker 3: You know. Look, I'll be honest with you.
- 2:40Speaker 2: The plan didn't come together as I thought it maya
- 2:42Speaker 2: didn't account for Roman Reigns. Truly believed that he was
- 2:45Speaker 2: not going to be around there at the end of
- 2:46Speaker 2: the night, as.
- 2:47Speaker 3: Is his customary overture.
- 2:50Speaker 2: He does his business and leaves, and I figured that
- 2:53Speaker 2: would be what we were getting on Monday. And I
- 2:56Speaker 2: thought we'd be able to wrap the rock kind of
- 2:58Speaker 2: in the old the ring there and take care of him,
- 2:59Speaker 2: get a little piece. So we got a little piece
- 3:01Speaker 2: of them. You know, Roman was a step ahead. I'll
- 3:03Speaker 2: give credit where it's due. But WRESTLEMANI is a few
- 3:06Speaker 2: days away, so we got to be better. We got
- 3:07Speaker 2: five days or four days now. We got to come
- 3:09Speaker 2: up with something better, and we will come up with
- 3:12Speaker 2: something better. But yeah, I'm feeling it, man, I feeling
- 3:14Speaker 2: I mean, you can see, you can see it on
- 3:16Speaker 2: my face. I got kicked right in the mouth right
- 3:18Speaker 2: and the cheap I got welts all over my body
- 3:21Speaker 2: underneath this little vest here, I got it all. So
- 3:25Speaker 2: it's not exactly the way I wanted to end the
- 3:28Speaker 2: night on Monday, but you know, more motivation, a bigger
- 3:30Speaker 2: chip on my shoulder.
- 3:31Speaker 3: So onto Philly, let's go.
- 3:33Speaker 1: What happens over the next few days. You say you
- 3:36Speaker 1: got to start planning for something bigger and better when
- 3:39Speaker 1: you get into WrestleMania. So what happens over the next
- 3:41Speaker 1: few days is you both recover and then try to
- 3:44Speaker 1: figure out what the game plan is going to be.
- 3:46Speaker 3: Yeah, that's it.
- 3:47Speaker 2: You gotta know, physically recover obviously from being you took
- 3:50Speaker 2: on Monday, and then mentally you got to you got
- 3:53Speaker 2: to come up with a plan, A plan B, A
- 3:55Speaker 2: plan see, a plan D. Because these guys, you know,
- 3:58Speaker 2: make no mistake about it, and they're not dumb. They
- 4:01Speaker 2: are where they're at in our industry for a reason,
- 4:04Speaker 2: and they're gonna come with backup plans on backup plans,
- 4:07Speaker 2: and so you got to have contingencies yourself. So it's
- 4:10Speaker 2: just about putting something together, a game plan together you
- 4:13Speaker 2: know it's better than the other teams, and then executing
- 4:15Speaker 2: when the time comes and that's truly where we're at.
- 4:18Speaker 2: And I pride myself. You know, I'm an architect, I'm
- 4:21Speaker 2: a visionary. I see a lot of things before they happen,
- 4:24Speaker 2: and I'm excited to see what Saturday brings, and then
- 4:28Speaker 2: hopefully on the Sunday it's a fair fight for Cody
- 4:30Speaker 2: and he can take that title off of Roman. I
- 4:32Speaker 2: can defend my title against Drew and we all live
- 4:35Speaker 2: happily ever after.
- 4:37Speaker 1: So, yeah, you mentioned it's an action packed weekend. You're
- 4:39Speaker 1: on both nights, you and Cody against the Rock and
- 4:43Speaker 1: Roll Reigns on Saturday, You're defending your championship on Sunday,
- 4:48Speaker 1: Simon professional better. Let's ask Seth what he thinks about
- 4:53Speaker 1: the current situation with the odds.
- 4:55Speaker 4: Yes, something going to ask you about how does it
- 4:57Speaker 4: feel to be a big underdog in this and it
- 4:59Speaker 4: really is looking like a David versus Goliath?
- 5:01Speaker 3: Does it feel that way?
- 5:02Speaker 4: Are you just one of those where you say to yourself,
- 5:04Speaker 4: this is my life, I'm dealing with you. I don't
- 5:06Speaker 4: care what the odds are. I'm playing for it anyway.
- 5:09Speaker 2: Dude, if you asked me, at any point in my career,
- 5:13Speaker 2: have I ever been the odds on favorite, I would
- 5:15Speaker 2: tell you absolutely not.
- 5:17Speaker 3: I've been the underdog from day one.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Man, I grew up in Buffalo, Iowa, in a small
- 5:22Speaker 2: town less than a thousand people. The odds that we're
- 5:25Speaker 2: even sitting here having this conversation about me main eventing
- 5:29Speaker 2: the biggest WrestleMania.
- 5:30Speaker 3: Of all time.
- 5:31Speaker 2: I'm not the Rock, I'm not Roman, I'm not even
- 5:34Speaker 2: Cody Rhoads. I don't have a last name to fall
- 5:37Speaker 2: back on. I don't have any of these ends. I
- 5:40Speaker 2: had to work my way from absolutely nothing to getting
- 5:44Speaker 2: to this point, and so I have never cared that
- 5:47Speaker 2: the odds were against me. As a matter of fact,
- 5:49Speaker 2: knowing the odds were against me, having that extra chip
- 5:52Speaker 2: on my shoulder is always what's made me who I am,
- 5:55Speaker 2: and so in some ways I operate best when I'm
- 5:59Speaker 2: back against the wall, when it's one thousand to one.
- 6:01Speaker 2: You know this, WrestleMania is no different. We're here. Nobody
- 6:05Speaker 2: on planet Earth thought I'd be in the ring with
- 6:07Speaker 2: a Rock at WrestleMania forty, but here we are. And
- 6:10Speaker 2: now I got a chance to do something that nobody's
- 6:12Speaker 2: ever done and pin these guys at Night one and
- 6:15Speaker 2: win the title.
- 6:16Speaker 3: Keep my title on night two and make history.
- 6:19Speaker 4: Plenty of golfers bet on themselves. I was wondering, are
- 6:22Speaker 4: you going to bet on yourself? I know you're already
- 6:24Speaker 4: bet on yourself in life. You have a paycheck, it
- 6:25Speaker 4: all worked out. Is it always a thing people talk
- 6:27Speaker 4: about it or not?
- 6:28Speaker 3: Really? And that's interesting. You know. Obviously our game is
- 6:31Speaker 3: a little bit different than the PGA.
- 6:33Speaker 2: But I think it's like, I'm not even a luck person,
- 6:37Speaker 2: but I think it's like some bad juju, you know.
- 6:39Speaker 3: I think it's like, I think it's a weird thing
- 6:41Speaker 3: to be putting money down on yourself. You know. I
- 6:43Speaker 3: dig that confidence.
- 6:44Speaker 2: I dig that confidence, and maybe for some people that
- 6:47Speaker 2: helps them take their play to the next level, knowing
- 6:50Speaker 2: that there's some extra cash involved or an extra part
- 6:53Speaker 2: of the bottom line if they were able to push through.
- 6:56Speaker 2: But for me, I never needed that motivation. Man, All
- 6:58Speaker 2: I needed was a doubt.
- 6:59Speaker 3: I need people doubt. Mean, that's what makes me better.
- 7:02Speaker 1: So your entrances are fantastic and your clothes. Your clothes
- 7:07Speaker 1: are fantastic. What is your annual clothing budget just for
- 7:13Speaker 1: getting ready for your entrances?
- 7:16Speaker 3: Man?
- 7:16Speaker 2: What's my annual budgets. We're probably talking upwards a six
- 7:20Speaker 2: figure on the budget for that. I don't know exact
- 7:22Speaker 2: numbers because I don't really put a cap on fashion.
- 7:26Speaker 2: It's very important part of what I do, and so
- 7:29Speaker 2: I don't have like a lid. I go, look, you know,
- 7:32Speaker 2: we'll manage it, We'll figure it out. I'm a smart
- 7:34Speaker 2: enough guy to know what's worth it or not. But
- 7:36Speaker 2: I'm always about pushing the envelope. So let's see how
- 7:39Speaker 2: far we can take it. But annual probably probably pushing
- 7:41Speaker 2: six figures.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Yeah, And when you're walking in you know, you just
- 7:45Speaker 1: said you're from a tiny town in Iowa, a thousand people.
- 7:51Speaker 1: You're walking in to WrestleMania. You're walking into these huge events.
- 7:56Speaker 1: I don't know how many people are going to be
- 7:58Speaker 1: at the Link on Saturday Sunday night, Probably seventy thousand people.
- 8:03Speaker 3: Yep.
- 8:04Speaker 1: What does it feel like when you're walking in? Like,
- 8:06Speaker 1: what are you seeing in your mind's eye as you're
- 8:11Speaker 1: walking out of the tunnel and getting ready to perform?
- 8:16Speaker 2: Man, when you walk out the curtain and you step
- 8:19Speaker 2: onto the stage. For me, over the years, that's as
- 8:23Speaker 2: soon as I get through and I'm there and I'm
- 8:25Speaker 2: in the center of it. It's almost like an eye
- 8:28Speaker 2: of the hurricane type situation. For me, the biggest hurdle
- 8:33Speaker 2: and the hardest part for me is getting to that moment.
- 8:36Speaker 2: If you can get to that moment, then it's just
- 8:39Speaker 2: what I've done for years, what I do nightly, right,
- 8:44Speaker 2: It's just get out there, do your job, perform and
- 8:48Speaker 2: make magic. And so I've been so accustomed to doing
- 8:52Speaker 2: that for so long that now once I'm in that space,
- 8:56Speaker 2: once I'm in that little circle, man, it's just like
- 8:58Speaker 2: a piece and everything's buzzing around me, and there's chaos
- 9:02Speaker 2: here and up there and everywhere where I'm at.
- 9:05Speaker 3: That's like my zen garden. Man. It's an awesome place
- 9:08Speaker 3: to be, you know.
- 9:09Speaker 2: And it wasn't always that way in the beginning. There
- 9:11Speaker 2: were a lot of butterflies, a lot of nerves. But now, man,
- 9:14Speaker 2: I feel safe. I feel safe there. I feel like
- 9:17Speaker 2: nobody's more equipped to do this than me, not anybody
- 9:19Speaker 2: in the entire world. And so, yeah, it might not
- 9:22Speaker 2: be the answer people expect, but it's there's a certain
- 9:24Speaker 2: level of peace that comes over me when I finally
- 9:26Speaker 2: step out there and I'm one with that audience.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Can you see fans like I envisioned that being so chaotic,
- 9:35Speaker 1: Like there's so much noise. It's a wall of noise,
- 9:37Speaker 1: right and you're going in and you're gonna have to perform,
- 9:40Speaker 1: and all eyes are on you. Can you see individual faces,
- 9:45Speaker 1: Can you hear individual voices?
- 9:47Speaker 3: Or is it all a blur?
- 9:50Speaker 2: Most of it's a blur, Like most of its all
- 9:52Speaker 2: leads together. Occasionally there's like these special situations where you
- 9:56Speaker 2: make this eye contact with somebody in the crowd. You know,
- 10:00Speaker 2: maybe it's a kid or somebody. You can just feel
- 10:03Speaker 2: that this moment means as much to them as it
- 10:06Speaker 2: does to you, and there's this connection that you have
- 10:09Speaker 2: between the two of you. And then and then it's just.
- 10:11Speaker 3: You two, you know.
- 10:12Speaker 2: Then the rest of the room goes away and there's
- 10:14Speaker 2: this moment where anything that comes out of their mouth,
- 10:16Speaker 2: I can see, whatever's on their face, I can read.
- 10:19Speaker 3: And that's that's the special thing about what we do
- 10:22Speaker 3: in WWE.
- 10:23Speaker 2: This connection we have with our audience is unlike anything
- 10:27Speaker 2: in the world. It's not like the stage and it's
- 10:29Speaker 2: not like you know, the super Bowl. It's a different dynamic.
- 10:33Speaker 2: It's all of it rolled into one and the biggest thing,
- 10:36Speaker 2: the biggest separators, that interconnectedness that we have with our audience,
- 10:40Speaker 2: and it's.
- 10:40Speaker 3: On display like through the roof.
- 10:43Speaker 2: When it comes to WrestleMania, because everybody's emotions are heightened.
- 10:47Speaker 2: You know, everybody's there to feel something and it's a
- 10:50Speaker 2: beautiful thing to be able to share that experience, you know,
- 10:53Speaker 2: en mass, but also individually with some people.
- 10:56Speaker 1: All Right, so you're in Philly. Simon is a huge
- 10:58Speaker 1: Eagles fan. I am, unfortunately a huge Bears fan. You
- 11:03Speaker 1: are a huge Bears fan. Were you pro trading for
- 11:07Speaker 1: Justin Fields? Were you anti trading for Justin Fields? I
- 11:11Speaker 1: know the answer, but I want you to explain it.
- 11:14Speaker 2: I would have liked to have kept Justin Fields. I
- 11:18Speaker 2: personally was a Justin Fields guy. I love the progress
- 11:22Speaker 2: that he made. I love the relationship that he built
- 11:25Speaker 2: with the city and with the team, and if you
- 11:27Speaker 2: watched his progress over the years, I would have liked
- 11:31Speaker 2: to continue to stick with him and getsy for what
- 11:34Speaker 2: it's worth. I think when you get a coordinator and
- 11:38Speaker 2: to be in the same system and that comfortability over
- 11:42Speaker 2: the years, that's when you really start to see these
- 11:45Speaker 2: guys take the next steps and we start to change
- 11:48Speaker 2: things up. It becomes difficult, you know. And so I
- 11:51Speaker 2: think the team's ceiling this year is higher if you
- 11:56Speaker 2: have Justin Fields on the squad. And that's not taking
- 11:58Speaker 2: anything away from Caleb William but bottom line, and he's
- 12:01Speaker 2: the presumed number one pick.
- 12:03Speaker 3: Bottom line, a rookie is a rookie. And yes, you
- 12:07Speaker 3: look at CJ.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Stroud and you say, oh, if we could land that,
- 12:12Speaker 2: then you know we're in a special place. But then
- 12:15Speaker 2: that's not the rule, right, that's the exception. There is
- 12:18Speaker 2: a learning curve for rookies, no matter how good they
- 12:20Speaker 2: are in college, when they come to the NFL. And
- 12:22Speaker 2: so I think, you know, I hope we're not looking
- 12:24Speaker 2: at a situation where we take take a step back
- 12:26Speaker 2: and then you end up letting go of your head
- 12:28Speaker 2: coach and you start making changes again, and not basically
- 12:31Speaker 2: you're in the same cycle.
- 12:32Speaker 3: Right.
- 12:32Speaker 2: So I was a fan of keeping Justin, but I
- 12:35Speaker 2: also understand the current regime and what they felt they
- 12:39Speaker 2: needed to do. And if you're looking at a prospect
- 12:41Speaker 2: that you think is a generational prospect, and you have
- 12:44Speaker 2: to do that for the future of your organization, and
- 12:46Speaker 2: you've got the kind of the Wheels in motion. I
- 12:49Speaker 2: understand that. I totally understand the decision, but I personally
- 12:53Speaker 2: love Justin. I wish we would have kept them around
- 12:55Speaker 2: for at least a couple more years to see out
- 12:57Speaker 2: this contract and see what kind of progression we could
- 12:59Speaker 2: have made in that division.
- 13:00Speaker 4: Are you still attached to him now? Are you still
- 13:02Speaker 4: going to cheer for him for Pittsburgh where you're like,
- 13:04Speaker 4: you know what, I'm gonna love this guy, Williams, But
- 13:05Speaker 4: in the back of your mind, you're gonna kind of
- 13:07Speaker 4: be staring really well, there's no reason.
- 13:10Speaker 3: Look, he's not in my division anymore.
- 13:11Speaker 4: You know.
- 13:12Speaker 2: If we get to February and somehow we're competing in
- 13:15Speaker 2: the super Bowl, you know, then it's a different story
- 13:17Speaker 2: than I'm saying take him out. But for now, he's
- 13:20Speaker 2: you know, he's over in the AFC. He's competing right
- 13:22Speaker 2: now with Russell Wilson for a starting job in Pittsburgh,
- 13:25Speaker 2: which it will be very interesting to see how that
- 13:27Speaker 2: plays out. Yeah, but yeah, man, I'm rooting for his
- 13:30Speaker 2: success wherever he lands, and if he lands in Pittsburgh,
- 13:32Speaker 2: I hope he does great. I hope he knocks everybody's
- 13:35Speaker 2: socks off in that division. Another tough division, NFC North
- 13:37Speaker 2: is stacked too, so it's gonna be difficult for the
- 13:40Speaker 2: Steelers to find her footing. But yeah, I'm rooting for man.
- 13:43Speaker 2: I hope he does great things.
- 13:45Speaker 4: You're broken, just like Chad's broken. All Bears fans are broken.
- 13:48Speaker 4: The fact that you guys love Justin Fields this much.
- 13:50Speaker 4: He literally came and did nothing for you guys for
- 13:53Speaker 4: about three years, and it's just excuse. We're like, well,
- 13:55Speaker 4: the GM didn't give him the pieces or the coach
- 13:57Speaker 4: didn't do this with him. You guys are the nicest fan.
- 14:00Speaker 4: I can't wait to say what you're gonna love Williams
- 14:02Speaker 4: just because he'll win you guys nine games and you're
- 14:04Speaker 4: gonna be like, oh my god, we've won nine games.
- 14:06Speaker 4: I can't believe he won nine games where Justin Fields
- 14:08Speaker 4: in three years he won what you had six games? Like,
- 14:10Speaker 4: I love how much you both love and miss Justin Fields.
- 14:14Speaker 4: You guys are both hilarious.
- 14:15Speaker 2: Wait wait a minute, wait a minute, but you're talking
- 14:18Speaker 2: about my quarterback and the pieces around him. You look
- 14:21Speaker 2: at your quarterback, Jalen Hurts are supposed to be like
- 14:24Speaker 2: got paid out the wazoo. What has that guy done
- 14:27Speaker 2: for your team. And I'm not taking anything away. These
- 14:30Speaker 2: are talented guys. These guys are way better than I am,
- 14:32Speaker 2: and I don't want to knock them at all. But
- 14:33Speaker 2: you look at the Eagles organization, You look at the
- 14:35Speaker 2: pieces that were put around Jalen Hurts to help him succeed,
- 14:38Speaker 2: and the team did well. They did really well in
- 14:40Speaker 2: that organization. You look at Chicago and what kind of
- 14:43Speaker 2: dump they were coming out of when they when the
- 14:45Speaker 2: new regime came in and when Poles came in. I mean,
- 14:48Speaker 2: it takes some time to get to that spot. They're
- 14:50Speaker 2: not gonna go from three and fourteen to a playoff
- 14:53Speaker 2: team overnight, even though they almost did this season, and
- 14:57Speaker 2: so you give them that another year to continue to
- 15:00Speaker 2: regress and build on what the regimes putting behind them.
- 15:02Speaker 2: I'm not saying justin Field is Pat Mahomes by any
- 15:05Speaker 2: stretch of the imagination, but he's certainly a starting quarterback
- 15:07Speaker 2: in the NFL, and if you put the right pieces
- 15:10Speaker 2: around him and stay consistent, he's a guy that can
- 15:12Speaker 2: make plays that other people can't make and certainly a
- 15:15Speaker 2: guy that could take this team to the playoffs.
- 15:17Speaker 3: And then once you get to January.
- 15:18Speaker 2: Anything can happen, so they'll be knocking Justin Field like
- 15:23Speaker 2: we thought he was gonna be the savior. It takes
- 15:26Speaker 2: a lot of guys in a good system to make
- 15:28Speaker 2: a franchise successful for a long time.
- 15:31Speaker 1: Six freaking Rollin Simon.
- 15:33Speaker 4: Well say that is fair, but you dive into numbers,
- 15:36Speaker 4: and I think Barrismons will quickly realize that Justin was
- 15:39Speaker 4: never going to be this guy. He did wilt in
- 15:41Speaker 4: the fourth quarter in a lot of games for you
- 15:42Speaker 4: guys where you don't think back to it. But the
- 15:46Speaker 4: thing in the NFL me and chat talk up at
- 15:47Speaker 4: the time, there are legit ten really good guys. Right,
- 15:51Speaker 4: there's thirty two quarterbacks, and any given year there are
- 15:54Speaker 4: ten guys who are like you know what, those ten
- 15:55Speaker 4: are really legit, and you want one of those unicorns.
- 15:58Speaker 4: That's the goal saying Justin Fields cannot be that unicorn.
- 16:01Speaker 4: He might not be in that unicorn. But that's my
- 16:03Speaker 4: whole thing with the Williams thing, where I think you guys,
- 16:05Speaker 4: I think you're gonna quickly realize seeing when he plays
- 16:07Speaker 4: for you how different he is. Justin Fields does have upside.
- 16:10Speaker 4: Williams upside is so insane that that's wy I'm so
- 16:13Speaker 4: excited for Bears fans, Like, if you get a unicorn,
- 16:16Speaker 4: your next fifteen years are good. Like the Jalen Hurts thing.
- 16:21Speaker 4: That's reason I have so much peace in my heart
- 16:22Speaker 4: with Jalen Hurts is he won the Super Bowl against Spags.
- 16:26Speaker 4: An incredible defensive coiner for the Kansas City Chiefs, and
- 16:29Speaker 4: he had four total touchdowns and three for three hundred yards.
- 16:32Speaker 4: Like if a Bear's quarterback did that, you guys would
- 16:35Speaker 4: be like me. You'd be like, I don't even care.
- 16:36Speaker 4: Last season sucked. I love how low you guys are,
- 16:39Speaker 4: That's what I'm saying. I'm like, you guys are so
- 16:41Speaker 4: loyal to Fields. You just want a great quarterback. And
- 16:45Speaker 4: I just think you guys need to move on, like
- 16:47Speaker 4: from the the ex you used to love. You have
- 16:49Speaker 4: a beautiful woman right in front of you coming in
- 16:51Speaker 4: in Winlands. I think it's gonna it's gonna change you guys.
- 16:54Speaker 4: Respective you're gonna forget about Fields.
- 16:56Speaker 2: I hope you're right. And I'm not a scout. I
- 16:59Speaker 2: can't evaluate that kind of talent. Like I don't have
- 17:00Speaker 2: the time and I don't have the wherewithal to be
- 17:02Speaker 2: able to evaluate those types of things. I see, I
- 17:04Speaker 2: see this kid play, I see his highlight reel and
- 17:07Speaker 2: he looks incredible on tape. How that translates to the NFL,
- 17:12Speaker 2: You know, I don't know. You look at fields numbers
- 17:14Speaker 2: at Ohio State. I mean, you could have made a
- 17:16Speaker 2: case for him. Who knows, you know, you just never know.
- 17:19Speaker 2: When these guys get to the NFL. What it's a crapshoot.
- 17:22Speaker 2: You know, the odds are he'll he'll be a good quarterback,
- 17:24Speaker 2: but he's got to have the right system. He's got
- 17:26Speaker 2: to have the weapons around him, which I think Polls
- 17:28Speaker 2: has gone out and done a really good job this
- 17:30Speaker 2: offseason and adding a Keenan Allen and Gerald Effett and
- 17:33Speaker 2: DeAndre Swift. Thank you very much, and and I think
- 17:36Speaker 2: we're going to be in a place to have an
- 17:39Speaker 2: exciting offense in Chicago.
- 17:41Speaker 3: I did another interview recently. I was on Good Morning Football.
- 17:43Speaker 2: I said, I guarantee Caleb Williams will be the Chicago
- 17:46Speaker 2: Bears ever first four thousand year I pastor, I guarantee it.
- 17:50Speaker 3: So I got a lot of faith in the kid.
- 17:51Speaker 2: I feel really good about him and me and I
- 17:53Speaker 2: can't have some love for my boy.
- 17:55Speaker 3: That's all I'm saying.
- 17:56Speaker 1: Yeah, Simon, can you name the fastest growing ticket app
- 18:00Speaker 1: in the United States?
- 18:02Speaker 3: Game Time?
- 18:03Speaker 1: That's right, it's game Time. I love Game Time for
- 18:06Speaker 1: two reasons. First, they still sponsor this show. Second, I
- 18:09Speaker 1: actually use game Time all the time. They have amazing
- 18:13Speaker 1: last minute deals, including pro and college basketball, speaking of which,
- 18:18Speaker 1: I'm actually opening the game Time app right now from
- 18:21Speaker 1: our studios here in New York. Look gloo, I can
- 18:24Speaker 1: get in to see the streak in New York Yankees
- 18:27Speaker 1: for less than one hundred and twenty bucks. No matter
- 18:29Speaker 1: where you live, download the game Time app, get out
- 18:32Speaker 1: and have some fun this week. You deserve it. You
- 18:33Speaker 1: can redeem code favorites for twenty dollars off your first purchase.
- 18:37Speaker 1: Terms apply again. Just download the game Time app and
- 18:39Speaker 1: use code favorites for twenty dollars off first purchase Last
- 18:43Speaker 1: minute tickets loose prices guarantee you are in deep on
- 18:47Speaker 1: the Bears.
- 18:49Speaker 3: I respect that.
- 18:50Speaker 1: I appreciate that. Like you light up as a fan
- 18:53Speaker 1: when you're talking about the Bears, when you're going through
- 18:55Speaker 1: WrestleMania media rounds. How much more do you want to
- 18:59Speaker 1: talk about the Bears? WrestleMania.
- 19:01Speaker 2: I mean, I don't I love both, man, I mean,
- 19:03Speaker 2: I love both of them. I love for wrestling, but
- 19:05Speaker 2: I spend so much time talking about wrestling. Is I
- 19:07Speaker 2: live and breathe and eat and sleep it. It's all
- 19:10Speaker 2: I do. You know, Like from dawn till dusk, we
- 19:12Speaker 2: don't have an off season. We're fifty two weeks a year.
- 19:15Speaker 2: And to be at my level, to be as successful
- 19:17Speaker 2: as I am, you just have to constantly think about
- 19:20Speaker 2: it and constantly process it and come up with new
- 19:22Speaker 2: ideas and continue to grow. And so you're always talking
- 19:25Speaker 2: about it. And you know, my wife, Becky Lynch, she
- 19:27Speaker 2: does the same gig as me, so we're always talking
- 19:29Speaker 2: to each other about wrestling. So for me, anytime I
- 19:32Speaker 2: get to sit down and talk football, which is my
- 19:34Speaker 2: kind of second love, I suppose, you know, it's like
- 19:36Speaker 2: a little treat for me.
- 19:37Speaker 3: I get to just talk like she's like shooting the
- 19:40Speaker 3: shit with the boys. You know, it's a good time.
- 19:42Speaker 1: Twenty fifteen, we'll take it back to wrestling for one second.
- 19:46Speaker 1: Twenty fifteen, you have a mount Rushmore moment and you
- 19:50Speaker 1: win the title at WrestleMania thirty one this weekend, wrestle
- 19:55Speaker 1: Media forty you defeat the Rock and Roman reigns, Which
- 19:59Speaker 1: would be the greater achievement what you did in thirty
- 20:02Speaker 1: one or what you could possibly do in forty.
- 20:05Speaker 3: Man, that's very interesting.
- 20:06Speaker 2: I think thirty one is special in its own way
- 20:09Speaker 2: because if you look at cashing in money bank contract
- 20:13Speaker 2: and the main event of WrestleMania and so surprising and
- 20:16Speaker 2: so captivating and shaped the industry in its own way. Right.
- 20:20Speaker 2: We took where the industry was, We subverted expectations and
- 20:24Speaker 2: pushed it in an action at the time, and that's
- 20:27Speaker 2: really we're looking to take down this guard that is
- 20:30Speaker 2: the bloodline that's really had a byte script on our
- 20:32Speaker 2: industry for the past few years. Now you've got the
- 20:34Speaker 2: Rock back board of director for TKO.
- 20:37Speaker 3: We're ushering in a new era.
- 20:39Speaker 2: Got a television deal with Netflix coming up here starting
- 20:42Speaker 2: next year. Like it's going to be a huge change
- 20:46Speaker 2: and shift in our industry and we're about to usher
- 20:49Speaker 2: that in. And so it's almost tough to say in
- 20:51Speaker 2: the moment which one's going to be bigger. I think
- 20:53Speaker 2: when you look back in retrospect, if we're able to
- 20:56Speaker 2: do what we want to do at WrestleMania forty. It'll
- 20:59Speaker 2: go down as one of the most historic game changing
- 21:02Speaker 2: events in the history of our industry.
- 21:04Speaker 1: What's left to achieve for you?
- 21:07Speaker 3: Oh? Man, God, you know, I don't know.
- 21:11Speaker 2: Legacy is an interesting question, right, It's like, what's your legacy?
- 21:16Speaker 3: What's it going to be?
- 21:17Speaker 2: And I've always wanted to leave the business better than
- 21:20Speaker 2: where I found it. That's always been my major goal,
- 21:23Speaker 2: contribute in ways that don't just benefit me, and so
- 21:26Speaker 2: I think my legacy is set in stone and you
- 21:29Speaker 2: can always add to it. But I think when it
- 21:32Speaker 2: comes down to it, my goal for the future is
- 21:36Speaker 2: to help the next generation. My time's not done yet,
- 21:40Speaker 2: but we're certainly closer to the end than we are
- 21:42Speaker 2: to the beginning. I'd love to use the kind of
- 21:45Speaker 2: latter half of my career to really help that next generation,
- 21:50Speaker 2: be the guys who are going to be wrestling, you know,
- 21:52Speaker 2: mainovating WrestleMania fifty, WrestleMania sixty, and so on and so forth.
- 21:57Speaker 2: And I think I'm in a position now where I've
- 21:59Speaker 2: got so much experience over the last two decades in
- 22:02Speaker 2: this industry, the last twelve years with WWE traveling in
- 22:05Speaker 2: the world that I can do that that I can
- 22:07Speaker 2: help these guys and girls get to the next level,
- 22:09Speaker 2: help mold what the future is going to look like.
- 22:11Speaker 1: It's interesting you say that. I think there was a
- 22:13Speaker 1: story in Bleacher Report earlier in the year, like in January,
- 22:18Speaker 1: that talked about how you've approached some things with more
- 22:23Speaker 1: humility than in the past, and have you thought a
- 22:26Speaker 1: lot about as you've gotten older in the business bringing
- 22:30Speaker 1: up that next generation.
- 22:31Speaker 2: I mean, it's always been something that I've wanted to do.
- 22:34Speaker 2: You know, I've had a wrestling school for the last decade.
- 22:37Speaker 2: You know, the moment that I started on the road
- 22:40Speaker 2: WW full time, the idea to start a wrestling school
- 22:43Speaker 2: in my hometown came up, and I've been at it
- 22:46Speaker 2: for ten years now. So I've always really prioritized it,
- 22:49Speaker 2: but it's always been something that's kind of been on
- 22:51Speaker 2: the back burn. I think when you're on your way up,
- 22:54Speaker 2: it's easy to become singularly focused, right, It's easier to
- 22:59Speaker 2: only worry about yourself and what you need to do
- 23:03Speaker 2: to get to the next level. But then when you
- 23:05Speaker 2: get to the top, you look around and you go, well,
- 23:08Speaker 2: there's not many, not many mountains left to climb. You know,
- 23:12Speaker 2: there's not many oceans left to swim, and when you've
- 23:15Speaker 2: done all that and you're by yourself, you kind of wonder, like,
- 23:18Speaker 2: you know, what's next, and is it worth it to
- 23:21Speaker 2: kind of continue to just tread this water on your own?
- 23:25Speaker 2: And I think the answer is no. And I think
- 23:27Speaker 2: as you get older, you know, you start family. You know,
- 23:29Speaker 2: you start to lose relatives that are older, grandparents and
- 23:33Speaker 2: aunts and uncles, and you start to realize that there
- 23:35Speaker 2: is a fragility not just to your industry and to
- 23:38Speaker 2: your job and your career, but to your life. And
- 23:41Speaker 2: your legacy isn't really what you accomplish, but it's how
- 23:44Speaker 2: people remember you and how they carry on your legacy.
- 23:48Speaker 2: And I think that's really starts to hit home the
- 23:50Speaker 2: older you get. And like I said, when you realize
- 23:53Speaker 2: you're getting closer to the end of your career than
- 23:55Speaker 2: you are to the beginning, things start to shift for
- 23:57Speaker 2: you in that capacity.
- 23:59Speaker 1: All Right, brother, listen, you got to heal up. You
- 24:01Speaker 1: got big events coming up this weekend, WrestleMania in Philly,
