- Sean Graver: Well, you've heard it in the all hands meetings, in the onboarding materials, maybe even from your own manager at some point. We're a family here. And then you watch someone with almost a decade of loyalty get let go because someone cheaper could do the job. Now every time someone says that phrase, it lands a little hollow. And you're left wondering whether you should stop believing any of it or if you were foolish to believe it in the first place. Well, my name is Sean, and welcome back to Prayer Before Work. Now, this topic generated some feedback, so I thought we should visit it again with another verse of scripture. King David writes something in Psalm 37:5 that offers a different place to put your trust, other than an org chart or a company slogan. It says, Commit your way to the Lord, trust in him, and he will act. Now notice where Diva is directing that trust. It's not towards an institution's language about itself, but toward God's actual character, which doesn't shift with quarterly earnings or leadership changes. You don't have to pretend that a company's family language was fully honest to still do meaningful work there, and you don't have to become cynical about every kind word that a coworker or manager says to you either. What you can do is hold institutional promises with a more accurate weight than you used to. I mean, real, but but limited, you know, made by people who are operating under real financial pressure, not a guarantee written in stone. I mean your security was never actually meant to rest there. It rests in something steadier, and it always did, even on the days a company's language. made it feel otherwise. So let's pray. God, when trust gets broken by language that turned out not to mean what we thought it meant, help us recalibrate instead of growing bitter. Teach us to commit our way to you and not to an organization's promises about itself. Give us peace about our own security And give us compassion for anyone around us who's had that trust broken more painfully even than we have. In Jesus' name, amen. Go make today count.
