- 0:09Speaker 1: Hello, everyone, Welcome to the Inside the Birds postgame show.
- 0:13Speaker 1: I'm Jeff Mosher alongside Adam Kaplan. And if it's felt
- 0:17Speaker 1: like a while since you've seen a game like this,
- 0:19Speaker 1: well you're right. I mean the Eagles absolutely destroy the
- 0:23Speaker 1: Las Vegas Raiders thirty.
- 0:25Speaker 2: One to nothing.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Somewhat of a historic game, Adam, in that the Raiders
- 0:30Speaker 1: managed seventy five total yards, and that's only been done
- 0:33Speaker 1: seven times in the history of the Eagles organization that
- 0:37Speaker 1: a team has failed to get more than seventy five
- 0:40Speaker 1: yards against them. So last time it was nineteen fifty
- 0:43Speaker 1: and the Browns actually won that game.
- 0:45Speaker 2: But the Raiders, they were nowhere near winning the game.
- 0:48Speaker 1: This was what we talked about in the pregame show,
- 0:51Speaker 1: kind of a game you have to win and sort
- 0:53Speaker 1: of that get right game after a three game losing streak.
- 0:57Speaker 3: Yeah, they just they they had the advantages, there's no
- 1:00Speaker 3: about They came in. You and I and Greg and
- 1:02Speaker 3: our pregame show. We all liked the Eagles to win handily.
- 1:07Speaker 3: The weather was certainly a factor and we knew this
- 1:09Speaker 3: coming in. The win was going to be a factory
- 1:11Speaker 3: and the snow didn't matter because it ended around nine
- 1:14Speaker 3: or ten o'clock. But the bottom line is the Eagles
- 1:17Speaker 3: had a run game one great although the total number
- 1:20Speaker 3: they piled them on late in the game, but they
- 1:23Speaker 3: had some. They definitely had some nice runs again to
- 1:26Speaker 3: the outside. A and B gap runs, especially A are tough.
- 1:30Speaker 3: They're one of the worst A gap running teams the
- 1:32Speaker 3: National Football League. Who the hell new coming into the season.
- 1:34Speaker 3: It's it's weird, but did some good things on offense.
- 1:38Speaker 3: Passing game wise, they didn't have to throw it a lot,
- 1:40Speaker 3: but they're efficient. They liked those short area flat passes
- 1:44Speaker 3: to Goddard Man They of course he dropped one right
- 1:46Speaker 3: in his hands for a touchdown, but they worked that well.
- 1:49Speaker 3: Godard still had a huge game. It's a dominant game. Yeah,
- 1:53Speaker 3: but what could you say? I mean, it's both sides
- 1:55Speaker 3: of the football. That's the thing is. You know we've
- 1:57Speaker 3: said all season, what are they ever going to play
- 1:59Speaker 3: together both sides of the football, What are they going
- 2:01Speaker 3: to do well the same game? Well, this is a
- 2:02Speaker 3: game they did well.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Right, and I just sense from your tone and mine's
- 2:06Speaker 1: going to match it is that it's a workman like
- 2:09Speaker 1: win where they did what they had to do.
- 2:11Speaker 2: They executed well, there are still things that they're not
- 2:15Speaker 2: doing great. You mentioned their average per carry was three
- 2:17Speaker 2: point nine.
- 2:18Speaker 1: That's not very good, you know, and they obviously their
- 2:21Speaker 1: defense was very dominant against an offensive line that had
- 2:24Speaker 1: backups that's just not in not.
- 2:26Speaker 2: Able to hold up against an Eagles format front.
- 2:28Speaker 1: So I'm with I think, I'm we're in the same
- 2:31Speaker 1: boat where you don't take much from the win big
- 2:34Speaker 1: picture other than they needed to win.
- 2:36Speaker 2: They were in a slide. They couldn't continue to slide.
- 2:39Speaker 1: A loss or even worse performance like a ten to
- 2:42Speaker 1: three win would have really had you questioning the team now.
- 2:45Speaker 1: But it doesn't make anything their long term problems go away.
- 2:49Speaker 1: But for seeding purposes, for winning the NFC East, very
- 2:52Speaker 1: very big, and you know you go on from there.
- 2:56Speaker 3: Yeah it, I mean they did it totally. They ran
- 2:59Speaker 3: for one hundred and eighty three yard, but if you
- 3:00Speaker 3: really watch the game closely, when it fell like one
- 3:02Speaker 3: hundred and ten hundred and twenty, but yeah, Barklay was
- 3:04Speaker 3: seventeen yard. Bigsby looked good as a change up to Barkley,
- 3:07Speaker 3: and then Barklay he hurt his neck. He obviously came back.
- 3:12Speaker 3: He kind of took one series off the camera showed
- 3:15Speaker 3: him motioning, because what happened was he went down, he
- 3:19Speaker 3: lowered his head and the defenders converged on him, and
- 3:22Speaker 3: they showed him on the sidelines with his jacket on,
- 3:25Speaker 3: and he was working.
- 3:25Speaker 2: He was no one was doing it for him.
- 3:27Speaker 3: He was doing it himself, moving his neck side aside,
- 3:30Speaker 3: and he came back in. It was fine. We'll see
- 3:32Speaker 3: if they listened on the injury report, Hurts with the
- 3:34Speaker 3: Hurts with the left ankle. He bet it back. Greg
- 3:37Speaker 3: Olsen pointed it out. We all saw that. But other
- 3:40Speaker 3: than that, it seemed like a clean game. They only
- 3:42Speaker 3: three penalties, and I could tell you the three penalties.
- 3:44Speaker 3: Steed Brown had his usual penalty, but it wasn't for
- 3:48Speaker 3: I don't believe it. I don't think it was a
- 3:49Speaker 3: fifteen yarder. It was just a he had his penalty.
- 3:51Speaker 3: Steen had his usual penalty he seems to have. And
- 3:54Speaker 3: then Cooper Dejeane, you can't do this man. He Tyler
- 3:57Speaker 3: Lockett should have been called for unnecessary roughness. He got
- 4:00Speaker 3: in his face, runs point to like and then of
- 4:03Speaker 3: course Coop pushed him back, and that's what they saw.
- 4:06Speaker 3: I hate when that happens Yeah, it's really embarrassing, like
- 4:10Speaker 3: the brush should see both things, but he didn't.
- 4:12Speaker 1: The tail tail As old as time, the retaliator always gets,
- 4:17Speaker 1: you know, the penalty, and the instigator always gets away
- 4:20Speaker 1: with it.
- 4:20Speaker 2: But you're right that you have to have the discipline to.
- 4:22Speaker 1: Know not to do that if you're looking for a
- 4:25Speaker 1: story within a story, because again, there's only so much
- 4:27Speaker 1: you can take from from this game.
- 4:30Speaker 2: Brandon Graham came to save.
- 4:32Speaker 1: He came out of retirement to save the Eagles edge
- 4:35Speaker 1: rush right because the Darius Smith retired, Nolan Smith was hurt.
- 4:39Speaker 1: They were getting basically Josh Rouce uh and they didn't
- 4:42Speaker 1: have Jillen Phillips yet. And then lo and behold, he
- 4:45Speaker 1: has come through for the Eagles as an interior defensive
- 4:49Speaker 1: lineman for the last two games and then really had
- 4:51Speaker 1: two sacks. I mean, he was a dominant force he has.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Now he's saving the Eagles on the interior line with
- 4:57Speaker 1: Gileen Carter out in a totally and a spot he's
- 5:00Speaker 1: never really played for. He's played inside in the pass rush,
- 5:04Speaker 1: but he's actually playing inside now next to Jordan Davis
- 5:06Speaker 1: on early downs as well. And man, the guy's unflappable Adam.
- 5:10Speaker 1: He just continues to add to his legacy of just
- 5:13Speaker 1: being the jack. I mean, he's been able to he's played.
- 5:15Speaker 1: He's now played outside linebacker edge four to three, defensive
- 5:19Speaker 1: end four to three, pass rusher in the nickel, and
- 5:22Speaker 1: now interior defensive line in a five to two or
- 5:25Speaker 1: even a four to three base. So my got, what
- 5:27Speaker 1: what can he do?
- 5:28Speaker 3: Yeah? He line up at the short edge last season,
- 5:30Speaker 3: which is where you're reduced, and you see he stands
- 5:33Speaker 3: up next to he's who would stand over the tackle
- 5:37Speaker 3: or a little bit in the inside of the tackle shoulder.
- 5:41Speaker 3: But now he played left. Looking at my notes, your
- 5:43Speaker 3: left defensive tackle, it's kind of incredible because I know
- 5:46Speaker 3: they listen to six to two you and I know
- 5:48Speaker 3: he's not six to two. He's more at six to one. Yeah,
- 5:50Speaker 3: and he's stocky, you know. He when he was in
- 5:53Speaker 3: the prime of his career was like two fifty probably
- 5:55Speaker 3: two fifty five. But the bottom line is the absolutely
- 5:58Speaker 3: dominate Ti Robinson came in. I saw him come in
- 6:01Speaker 3: and in some situations a third down, but overall it
- 6:05Speaker 3: was just a dominant performance. You're coming in. I didn't
- 6:08Speaker 3: want to pick a blowout because we talked about this,
- 6:11Speaker 3: how the Raiders played the Broncos tough. They played a
- 6:14Speaker 3: couple teams tough. Patrick Graham's a fantastic defense coordinator. I
- 6:17Speaker 3: never had any doubt that Eagles would win the game.
- 6:19Speaker 3: That was never even somebody even considered. There's no way
- 6:21Speaker 3: that there was not thin the Cardinals team last year.
- 6:23Speaker 3: The Cardinals were way more talented than this Raiders team.
- 6:26Speaker 3: But the problem is to try to think that the
- 6:29Speaker 3: Raiders can come within ten or cover the twelve. How
- 6:32Speaker 3: are they going to score? And once again, and Greg
- 6:36Speaker 3: Olsen also pointed this out. If the Eagles aren't one
- 6:39Speaker 3: of the best teams against the tight end, they're certainly
- 6:42Speaker 3: they're not. They may not be best, but they're certainly
- 6:43Speaker 3: one of them. They handled Brock bowers Man, they did.
- 6:46Speaker 3: They were phenomenal against him.
- 6:47Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean the only times I thought that pick
- 6:50Speaker 1: you could get him the ball were on real quick
- 6:51Speaker 1: three step drops, swings like nothing that was going to
- 6:55Speaker 1: stress them vertically or really hurt them. And yeah, again,
- 6:59Speaker 1: when a team only seventy five total yards, you know
- 7:01Speaker 1: you've just completely shut that. They averaged one point nine
- 7:05Speaker 1: yards per play. I believe I didn't. I didn't go
- 7:07Speaker 1: back through the record books to look and see if
- 7:10Speaker 1: that when the last time that happened as well. But
- 7:12Speaker 1: that's just really impressive. So, I mean, look, what we
- 7:16Speaker 1: do on the show is really try to go inside
- 7:18Speaker 1: the game more so than just rehashing obvious stuff. And
- 7:20Speaker 1: there's not much right, But I think there's two things
- 7:23Speaker 1: to me that stand out from this game that is
- 7:25Speaker 1: a little bit deeper. Right, Let's let's start with offense
- 7:29Speaker 1: on it. I don't We'll have to see the All
- 7:32Speaker 1: twenty two. We'll have to talk to Greg Osel, but
- 7:34Speaker 1: I'm fairly certain what we're gonna see is that they
- 7:38Speaker 1: did not run a lot of those concepts past concepts
- 7:42Speaker 1: that they did against the Chargers. We talked about the
- 7:45Speaker 1: four strong and the floods. They did go spread empty,
- 7:49Speaker 1: but really ran out of it with Jalen Hurts more
- 7:51Speaker 1: so than through out of it. So what we have
- 7:54Speaker 1: to go see going forward, was that a response to
- 7:59Speaker 1: the Chargers that they lost and turn the ball over?
- 8:02Speaker 1: You know, are they just deciding that the goodness from
- 8:04Speaker 1: that wasn't good enough? Or was it a response to
- 8:07Speaker 1: the weather, the wind? They only threw the ball fifteen
- 8:10Speaker 1: times to begin with that to me is very intriguing
- 8:12Speaker 1: because you and I and Greg and others felt you
- 8:15Speaker 1: got to continue to work this into your pass offense
- 8:18Speaker 1: if you really want to grow and evolve here over
- 8:20Speaker 1: the last stretch of the season.
- 8:22Speaker 2: So I didn't see it. Maybe I'm wrong.
- 8:24Speaker 1: We'll see on the All twenty two, but I'm sure
- 8:26Speaker 1: from what I was just watching it, it didn't feel like
- 8:29Speaker 1: they were doing anything intricate from a pass games.
- 8:31Speaker 3: Alright, I'm not going to comment on because I have
- 8:33Speaker 3: no idea. It's possible. You can't tell if TV.
- 8:35Speaker 1: I have it because I'm in the press boy, right,
- 8:37Speaker 1: so I can see everybody on the field.
- 8:39Speaker 3: Now you can see it, But me watching on TV.
- 8:42Speaker 3: I tend not to comment on that stuff unless I've
- 8:44Speaker 3: talked to someone who watched the tape right immediately. You know,
- 8:48Speaker 3: sometimes you get access to people. But yeah, the Eagles
- 8:51Speaker 3: came out trying to run. I hate to establish a run,
- 8:54Speaker 3: but the conditions almost mandated it. The guts for thirty
- 8:57Speaker 3: two to thirty five miles an hour throughout the game.
- 9:00Speaker 3: The wind was eighteen to twenty miles an hour. But
- 9:01Speaker 3: if the gusts man at the link with the crosswinds
- 9:04Speaker 3: is a pain in the ass to try to throw it. Technically,
- 9:07Speaker 3: for the Eagle's sake, there wasn't as they didn't have
- 9:09Speaker 3: to make any fourth down decisions where they're going to
- 9:10Speaker 3: go for it or not because they got up so
- 9:12Speaker 3: big early that pass run ratio was out of whack.
- 9:15Speaker 3: In the first half, the run Eagles almost dominated two
- 9:18Speaker 3: to one time in possession. That that's when you know
- 9:21Speaker 3: you're doing well. And Hurts was pulled to get through
- 9:23Speaker 3: the offense in the fourth quarter. For tann and McKey,
- 9:27Speaker 3: I would say that there were they and also important
- 9:30Speaker 3: this so out there's some defensive breakdowns where God got
- 9:33Speaker 3: wide open uncovered. That can't happen. Yeah, and you know
- 9:37Speaker 3: you saw you saw the the pop pass for the touchdown.
- 9:41Speaker 3: You saw the RPO. God has got to catch that
- 9:44Speaker 3: right in his hands right there, right there. It's like,
- 9:47Speaker 3: come on, I know he was going forward. He took
- 9:49Speaker 3: his he took his head off of it. Yeah, that
- 9:52Speaker 3: was bad. But the cool thing is, look, he only
- 9:56Speaker 3: Hurts only dropped back probably teen or nineteen times, only
- 10:01Speaker 3: had fifteen attempts, but completely twelve out of fifteen several
- 10:05Speaker 3: for big plays. The absolute dime. He had two dimes.
- 10:10Speaker 3: The big one to DeVante was a great throw and
- 10:14Speaker 3: the slam for the touchdown.
- 10:16Speaker 2: J J.
- 10:17Speaker 3: Brown actually hit two slants. The first one was not thrown.
- 10:19Speaker 3: It got on him, but he put it on the
- 10:21Speaker 3: wrong shoulder. We've talked about this. The Eagles have the
- 10:24Speaker 3: worst yards after the catch. Yes, some of it's on
- 10:27Speaker 3: the offensive corderion design and some of it's on Hurt's
- 10:30Speaker 3: not putting it. You always want the pass start to
- 10:32Speaker 3: never stop his motion. You want this guy to go
- 10:35Speaker 3: whoever it's to. I cannot tell you how many personnel
- 10:38Speaker 3: people have told me this. They don't all see it
- 10:40Speaker 3: hurts the same way. It's very interesting. That's like an
- 10:42Speaker 3: off season thirty for thirty on the thoughts on hurts
- 10:45Speaker 3: around the league. But they all see the same thing.
- 10:47Speaker 3: He doesn't put it accurately where it needs to be. Actually,
- 10:50Speaker 3: not just his composite number. That's about half of it.
- 10:54Speaker 3: The all twenty two which the truth steer him will
- 10:56Speaker 3: tell you. It tells you the ball's got to be here,
- 10:58Speaker 3: not here. It slows the guy out. In fact, that
- 11:01Speaker 3: might have been ten or fifteen extra yards, but the
- 11:03Speaker 3: defender got him. But nevertheless, herts was fine, played well,
- 11:08Speaker 3: But we we lean on teaching here. It's not a
- 11:11Speaker 3: fan this is not talk Rady. We actually try to
- 11:13Speaker 3: teach people the game here and this is what the
- 11:14Speaker 3: tape shows.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I also on the on the more positive side
- 11:18Speaker 1: for him. So being at the stadium, the wind was
- 11:22Speaker 1: clearly blowing hard. Obviously in one direction. It was blowing
- 11:25Speaker 1: toward the north end zone. So the Eagles had their
- 11:29Speaker 1: wind at their backs in the first and the fourth quarters, right,
- 11:32Speaker 1: So that's when he threw his long pass to Devonte
- 11:36Speaker 1: Smith and the twenty seven yard er Tavy Brown. It
- 11:39Speaker 1: was going toward the so and I have to think
- 11:42Speaker 1: on a day where you're not throwing the ball much,
- 11:44Speaker 1: that was a calculated decision that when the wind is
- 11:47Speaker 1: at my back, I will put the ball. Oh, even
- 11:49Speaker 1: though a J Brown the defensive pass interference, right, those
- 11:53Speaker 1: were all towards the same direction of the field. And
- 11:56Speaker 1: when they were going into the wind, that's when you
- 11:58Speaker 1: saw much shorter Ours get the ball to Goddard. They
- 12:01Speaker 1: tried to run even if they tried to theoretically throw
- 12:04Speaker 1: the ball, or should have thrown the ball a little
- 12:06Speaker 1: more because Parkley had a lot of zero and minuses
- 12:09Speaker 1: in that timeframe. But it was all part of what
- 12:12Speaker 1: I believe to be as a calculated decision to use
- 12:15Speaker 1: the wind at your advantage when you had it, and
- 12:17Speaker 1: then just limit your mistakes when it was into your face.
- 12:19Speaker 1: Because you could see both quarterbacks really couldn't put the
- 12:21Speaker 1: ball in the air at times throughout the game, and
- 12:26Speaker 1: so I thought that was smart on Jillen Hurts's part
- 12:28Speaker 1: to really take the chances when he had the wind
- 12:30Speaker 1: at his back.
- 12:31Speaker 3: Yeah. I would have this on Hurts, which I really liked. Man,
- 12:33Speaker 3: when he's decisive, he's got such a strong arm. It's like, dude,
- 12:38Speaker 3: when it's defined well for him, that ball comes out,
- 12:41Speaker 3: he looks like a top five quarterback. I'm not saying
- 12:43Speaker 3: he's a top five quarter but he looks. It looks
- 12:45Speaker 3: the part. It looks just like you wanted to look.
- 12:46Speaker 3: You saw it in the Charger game. I understand the
- 12:48Speaker 3: five turnovers, That's not what I'm talking about. We isi
- 12:51Speaker 3: throws on these shows, man, We're not doing talk radio.
- 12:54Speaker 3: We want you to see what it needs to look
- 12:56Speaker 3: like when it's really good. Man. I mean again, yeah,
- 13:00Speaker 3: what the first slant needed to be here? Not here,
- 13:03Speaker 3: but still he he got. He was decisive. That's all
- 13:05Speaker 3: you need from him. They're gonna win most games when
- 13:08Speaker 3: he's decisive. I'm telling you, this is a year you
- 13:11Speaker 3: can make a run in the playoffs. It's still wide
- 13:14Speaker 3: open no matter what people think. There are no dominant teams.
- 13:17Speaker 3: No one's even close to dominant, you know, right, right,
- 13:19Speaker 3: And egos to the thing is the Eagles have really
- 13:22Speaker 3: good pass targets, you.
- 13:23Speaker 1: Know, yeah, absolutely, I mean, you know, again, try not
- 13:27Speaker 1: to make too much of one gaming as a really
- 13:29Speaker 1: bad team. But you know, everybody was talking about twenty
- 13:33Speaker 1: twenty three where they played bad against bad teams. Well,
- 13:35Speaker 1: that didn't happen. The defense has been too good. And
- 13:37Speaker 1: offensively they did with that. Oh by the way, seventy
- 13:40Speaker 1: seven percent conversion rate on third down, the third down
- 13:42Speaker 1: offensive finally showing up. But again that's such an outlier,
- 13:46Speaker 1: right because they average thirty eight thirty four percent for
- 13:49Speaker 1: the year, which is one of the worst of football.
- 13:51Speaker 1: That you don't look at seventy seven percent and saying
- 13:53Speaker 1: that that's more like it. No, that's because you're going
- 13:55Speaker 1: up against the Raiders, who was terrible, Like you said,
- 13:58Speaker 1: so many breakdowns over the middle to leave god it
- 14:01Speaker 1: wide open and.
- 14:02Speaker 3: Then the other one would be. It looked like to
- 14:04Speaker 3: me now that this one seemed rather obvious, a lot
- 14:07Speaker 3: of twelve personnel look.
- 14:08Speaker 1: Like and thirteen at probably more thirteen than they seem
- 14:13Speaker 1: like a lot too.
- 14:15Speaker 3: We don't get the snaff counts until extremely for five am,
- 14:19Speaker 3: but the next day. But it looked like a lots
- 14:22Speaker 3: was in there.
- 14:22Speaker 2: A lot it did? It did. Yeah, they played a
- 14:25Speaker 2: lot of thirteen.
- 14:26Speaker 1: Honestly, I would love to see them just play more
- 14:28Speaker 1: twelve personnel with lat too instead of Calcatara.
- 14:31Speaker 3: Of course we all do.
- 14:32Speaker 1: Grant was on the field quite a bit, and again
- 14:34Speaker 1: you saw a lot of zero yard runs negative two
- 14:37Speaker 1: yard run, Yeah, two yard runs. And every time you're
- 14:40Speaker 1: looking at the like the pile unfold and you're like, oh,
- 14:42Speaker 1: there's there's Calcutara out there.
- 14:45Speaker 2: Well, I feel like it's not his fault. He's just
- 14:47Speaker 2: that's not what he he's supposed to do.
- 14:49Speaker 3: It's just it's I'll say it again, it's one of
- 14:51Speaker 3: the few times I'll talk about bad coaching. It's one
- 14:53Speaker 3: of the few times the medium and fans are right.
- 14:56Speaker 3: I mean, we do the Patreon chat every Tuesday, Judy
- 15:00Speaker 3: comes in, when's it gonna She keeps asking, when's it
- 15:02Speaker 3: going to change? I don't have access to Syriana. I
- 15:05Speaker 3: don't know, or I just don't know. You know, it's
- 15:08Speaker 3: one thing. As we've said before, it's one thing. If
- 15:09Speaker 3: they throw the Kaka Tarra like five targets a game,
- 15:12Speaker 3: they don't throw to him at all, and he doesn't
- 15:14Speaker 3: block very well exactly.
- 15:16Speaker 1: There was a time where you could justify it because
- 15:18Speaker 1: he would come through with three to four catches a game,
- 15:21Speaker 1: but not this year. In fact, I can't remember the
- 15:24Speaker 1: last time he had two catches in a game. I
- 15:26Speaker 1: can go check that really quickly while we're talking. But
- 15:29Speaker 1: I mean, it's it's mind boggling to me. They gotta
- 15:32Speaker 1: do it with an intent. There's a reason they're doing it,
- 15:35Speaker 1: of course. I I just can't understand.
- 15:36Speaker 2: Figure it out. I mean, yeah, you know, I know.
- 15:39Speaker 3: Coaches will say, well, sometimes you want the defense to
- 15:41Speaker 3: think that you go throw to him or he's a
- 15:44Speaker 3: pass target, but they don't throw to him. That's the
- 15:46Speaker 3: problem with it. I'll never because Nick has been asked
- 15:49Speaker 3: about it and he never gives a straight answer, and
- 15:53Speaker 3: Petula talks around everything. He doesn't Sometimes he dresses stuff
- 15:57Speaker 3: and sometimes he doesn't, and they're not going to criticize
- 15:59Speaker 3: cop the fact that he can't even if he's playing
- 16:02Speaker 3: the position, which is you'll see him, he'll play behind
- 16:06Speaker 3: Goddard because you really can't play online. And then the crossblock.
- 16:09Speaker 3: I put this in my notes, I text you first
- 16:11Speaker 3: quarter lotso on the cross block is a crossblock full
- 16:15Speaker 3: back where he crosses the grain. He totally missed the
- 16:19Speaker 3: guy and Barkley got I'm like, that's a tough block.
- 16:22Speaker 3: Did you get didn't you do the show with inside
- 16:25Speaker 3: the tape a couple of weeks ago and or no?
- 16:27Speaker 3: Or is it Patreon? When Frank asked about are we
- 16:30Speaker 3: asking the offensive lineman or players to make tough block?
- 16:34Speaker 3: That's a perfect example of it.
- 16:36Speaker 2: Yep, yep.
- 16:37Speaker 1: It's they're being asked to make blocks that they just
- 16:39Speaker 1: physically cannot make. And honestly, and again we'll talk to
- 16:42Speaker 1: Greg on it. Just being able to watch from the
- 16:44Speaker 1: vantage point, I had looked like Calcuterra and not Calte
- 16:47Speaker 1: Jurgens was struggling at times just to get his body
- 16:50Speaker 1: on guys.
- 16:51Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, it's rough.
- 16:53Speaker 1: I mean, Dickerson was out there, but I didn't feel
- 16:55Speaker 1: like he was mauling people like you expect Landon Dickerson too.
- 16:58Speaker 1: So that's the part that this hasn't changed, and I
- 17:00Speaker 1: don't think he's going to change as we move forward.
- 17:03Speaker 1: The last thing I wanted to really highlight on defense
- 17:06Speaker 1: was sort of the signature vic Fangio. I'm just going
- 17:11Speaker 1: to rush for drop seven. I'm not even sure he
- 17:14Speaker 1: ran too many sims. I was looking to see if
- 17:17Speaker 1: Nikobe Dean. There were a couple of times Dean took
- 17:19Speaker 1: a step on third down towards scrimmage, but then he
- 17:22Speaker 1: would just back up. I don't even think they sent
- 17:24Speaker 1: Nikobe too often. Maybe once or twice on a sim.
- 17:27Speaker 1: But you know, I'm very curious to see tomorrow, you know,
- 17:31Speaker 1: when the snaps come out and then the NFL Pro
- 17:34Speaker 1: stuff like on what what s blitz percentage? If they
- 17:37Speaker 1: had in this game, I'd be shocked if it was
- 17:38Speaker 1: anything higher than eight.
- 17:42Speaker 2: Well, I mean last week was nine percent and I
- 17:44Speaker 2: remember them, but so I.
- 17:45Speaker 3: Thought it would be low in this game because think
- 17:47Speaker 3: about it, they got Stone forsythe as left tackle. He's like,
- 17:50Speaker 3: as Greg said, he's like a number three tackle. Number
- 17:54Speaker 3: four Kappa was caught by look, he's he's he should
- 17:59Speaker 3: be star arding, but they don't have anybody else but
- 18:03Speaker 3: the GM had him in Tampa, but he's a backup.
- 18:07Speaker 3: And the Glaze Kid's okay. The one solid player they
- 18:10Speaker 3: have is deal In param who's their left guard. So
- 18:13Speaker 3: clearly and with a past target group other than other
- 18:17Speaker 3: than Bowers, who you're worried about, You're not worried about
- 18:19Speaker 3: Tyler Locket, who's in near the end of his career.
- 18:21Speaker 3: Trey Tucker should be a four best, doesn't run that well,
- 18:24Speaker 3: but he's a big possession receiver. And Genty it is
- 18:28Speaker 3: just he has an old school running style and that's
- 18:31Speaker 3: not what teams are looking for anywhere. With Pete carrol Is.
- 18:34Speaker 3: I mean, it's like you see Genty get the ball,
- 18:38Speaker 3: you go he has no chance, Here's no chance. Yeah,
- 18:42Speaker 3: And they just dominated the energy, was fantastic on defense.
- 18:47Speaker 3: Good good for them being at home. What else can
- 18:51Speaker 3: you say about the defense? They shut him out by
- 18:53Speaker 3: the way, only seventy five total yards. They played a
- 18:56Speaker 3: near perfect game, and Jaylex Shunt, I gotta tell you
- 18:59Speaker 3: get better and better and better. It's just a really
- 19:03Speaker 3: I thought he'd be I thought his upside'd be better than
- 19:05Speaker 3: Josh Wat. Maybe I'll matter selling them a little bit.

- 22:55Speaker 3: He's just getting really really good.
- 22:57Speaker 2: Well, yeah, you're right.
- 22:58Speaker 1: I mean I understand that because he's way better athlete, right,
- 23:01Speaker 1: and he comes with no damaged limbs or anything like that,
- 23:05Speaker 1: or or past injuries that we know about. I'm not
- 23:07Speaker 1: trying to be mean, John, I'm just saying, medically checked
- 23:10Speaker 1: out way better than Josh Sweat, which is why he
- 23:14Speaker 1: was drafted higher than Josh Sweat.
- 23:15Speaker 2: But yeah, I think I think you're right.
- 23:18Speaker 1: Athletic upside probably could lead, but he's got to still
- 23:21Speaker 1: get refined.
- 23:22Speaker 2: But he plays so hard.
- 23:24Speaker 1: I mean, he's he's in on almost everything, he clapses
- 23:27Speaker 1: the pocket. So once he really learns finishing moves, and
- 23:29Speaker 1: obviously having Brandon there in the locker room with him
- 23:32Speaker 1: probably helps out, he'll he'll he'll start to continue to
- 23:35Speaker 1: do that.
- 23:35Speaker 2: But yeah, I'm really impressed with.
- 23:37Speaker 1: How he plays this as a second year player who
- 23:39Speaker 1: like five years ago as a safety and is now
- 23:41Speaker 1: an edge.
- 23:42Speaker 3: It's insane. Ni Kobe again, I don't know if he
- 23:46Speaker 3: will have to see if I saw one quasi blitz,
- 23:50Speaker 3: but we'll see if he gets credit for just a pressure.
- 23:53Speaker 3: Jomo had a sack. He's had a really really good year.
- 23:56Speaker 3: Nold Smith had the conversion sack. That was when they
- 24:00Speaker 3: went they converged and he got it. Yep, that was
- 24:02Speaker 3: pretty good. Uh, Jalen failed for people asking, He's been fine,
- 24:06Speaker 3: You're not gonna have a great game every game, but
- 24:08Speaker 3: he had. He had a minimum of two quarterback pressures
- 24:10Speaker 3: in the game. He did well and then honestly Coop
- 24:14Speaker 3: and they completely shut down any anything that Kenny Pick
- 24:19Speaker 3: had tried to do. Pick it looked like he was
- 24:20Speaker 3: completely lost. He was just he seemed defeated. By halftime.
- 24:24Speaker 3: They were in his space, they couldn't protect him, and
- 24:27Speaker 3: it was just a nightmare game. And this is one
- 24:29Speaker 3: of those situations, as you said at the top here,
- 24:32Speaker 3: we could put it all out. Everything we see in
- 24:33Speaker 3: all everything we knew. We just put it all out
- 24:35Speaker 3: there there. There were no injuries listed. I believe in
- 24:40Speaker 3: game we gave you the two that we saw with
- 24:42Speaker 3: Hurts in the left ankle got bent back, but he
- 24:44Speaker 3: he was okay. Yeah, they're in a short week. We'll
- 24:47Speaker 3: see if they miss any practice time, but we know
- 24:49Speaker 3: they're going to go Barkley with a neck. Hopefully it's
- 24:52Speaker 3: not a stinger. He came back in, so hopefully it's fine.
- 24:55Speaker 2: Yeah, I would think since he came back in, and he.
- 24:57Speaker 3: Came back in, he came back in, but you know
- 24:58Speaker 3: he was trying to work it out, but not it's
- 25:00Speaker 3: just a it was a workman like game. I thought
- 25:02Speaker 3: you set that up really well. Yeah, and they ablutely dominated.
- 25:04Speaker 3: It's it's probably what the coaches would have liked. Anytime
- 25:07Speaker 3: you could pull the starters early in the fourth quarter
- 25:09Speaker 3: and and it's without even know the score, but you
- 25:12Speaker 3: know it's for a good reason. You know you're blowing
- 25:14Speaker 3: the team out, and that's what it was.
- 25:16Speaker 1: Yeah, that was the lead to my story, I got
- 25:17Speaker 1: a little cute. I said, it finally happened the Eagles bench.
- 25:20Speaker 2: Jalen hurts, but I wrote, but for a good reason,
- 25:25Speaker 2: that won't be a controversy.
- 25:26Speaker 1: That's right, real quick, as we look forward to this week, obviously,
- 25:30Speaker 1: the Commanders on Saturday, so it is another short turnaround
- 25:33Speaker 1: game for the Eagles.
- 25:36Speaker 2: All eyes are on Lane Johnson and Jalen Carter.
- 25:39Speaker 1: You have to see if they're able to get out
- 25:40Speaker 1: on the practice field to see if they can get back,
- 25:43Speaker 1: because they'll probably need him. Give the Commander's credit, you know,
- 25:46Speaker 1: they give the Broncos a great game.
- 25:48Speaker 2: Should have won it two weeks ago.
- 25:49Speaker 1: Lost then they got humiliated by the Vikings, and everybody thought,
- 25:53Speaker 1: well they're packing it in. Well, no, they came back
- 25:55Speaker 1: and beat the Giants. Not that that's special, but they
- 25:58Speaker 1: showed up. They beat the Giants. So I guarantee you
- 26:01Speaker 1: they're not looking at their game against the Eagles as
- 26:03Speaker 1: just some game. I mean, that's the team that beat
- 26:05Speaker 1: them last year, and then it's a championship game.
- 26:07Speaker 2: They're trying to play hard.
- 26:09Speaker 1: They're trying to find out about young guys like this,
- 26:11Speaker 1: uh Bill Bill Crosskey merit did I pronounce that right?
- 26:15Speaker 3: Yeah? Yeah, yeah, he calls himself Bill, but he has
- 26:17Speaker 3: exactly right. Yeah. He Rodriquez, Chris Rodriguez had a growny jury.
- 26:22Speaker 3: He's been their their starter because they they're talking to them.
- 26:25Speaker 3: They want to power run game when Mariota plays, because
- 26:27Speaker 3: they don't Mario drop it back a lot. Right Now,
- 26:30Speaker 3: we'll see about Daniels. He reinjured that they left the
- 26:32Speaker 3: dislocation that left elbow. He reinjured his elbow, so you
- 26:35Speaker 3: got yeah, I got to see if he's ready.
- 26:36Speaker 2: Now.
- 26:37Speaker 3: The practice week will be Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and the
- 26:40Speaker 3: walker will be on Friday where they leave for Washington,
- 26:43Speaker 3: the nation's capital. They used to take a train there,
- 26:46Speaker 3: but I think they fly there, actually do they?
- 26:48Speaker 2: I did I realize that?
- 26:49Speaker 3: I think, yeah, oh yeah, they used to take uh
- 26:52Speaker 3: they used to take these take Yeah.
- 26:54Speaker 2: I remember that. I just didn't realize they started flying there. Yeah.
- 26:57Speaker 3: The last time I asked flying there, what's that?
- 26:59Speaker 2: I'm just probably almost makes to say why, but yeah.
- 27:02Speaker 3: Yeah, probably forty five minute flight. You know, it's funny.
- 27:04Speaker 3: Pittsburgh's thirty five minutes, which is comical.
- 27:06Speaker 2: I know, it is really interesting. Yeah, McLaurin, by the way,
- 27:09Speaker 2: had to touch.
- 27:09Speaker 1: That means he's kind of come on since he's come back,
- 27:11Speaker 1: So it's to me. As bad as the Commanders are,
- 27:14Speaker 1: it's it's a different level. They're way better than the Raiders,
- 27:17Speaker 1: so it's.
- 27:17Speaker 3: A different level bad.
- 27:19Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a different level of bad.
- 27:20Speaker 1: They're they're they're not completely inept at every single thing
- 27:23Speaker 1: that they want, and their offensive line is pretty decent,
- 27:25Speaker 1: so it'll be it'll be interesting, all right. So we'll
- 27:28Speaker 1: have plenty of coverage this week. Well inside the tape
- 27:30Speaker 1: left to check out dailies. We'll have Bird's Weeklies, we'll
- 27:34Speaker 1: have all the usual suspects, Sam Finkel, inside the data.
- 27:38Speaker 1: As you know, we just want to say, hey, thanks
- 27:40Speaker 1: to everybody for all the great I mean we our
- 27:42Speaker 1: number has been great. Uh now the Eagles back for
- 27:45Speaker 1: a win, maybe they'll be even better to our Patreon following,
- 27:47Speaker 1: they've been unbelievable and we look forward to another week
- 27:51Speaker 1: of great Eagles coverage. So that'll do it for this
- 27:54Speaker 1: edition of Inside the Bird's post game Show. For Adam Kaplan,
- 27:59Speaker 1: I'm Jeff Mosher catch all on the next one
- 28:11Speaker 3: H
