- 1:12Speaker 1: We're cozy in for the conversations we've been longing to have about this new life.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Hi, loves, we have such a treat for you today.
- 1:26Speaker 1: We have Emily Florence with us.
- 1:28Speaker 1: She is an astrologer who also specializes in natural healing, and she is here to teach us so many delicious things about how we can make sense of our losses and tap into the wisdom that's all around us to help guide our lives.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Is that how you would say it, emily?
- 1:47Speaker 1: Pretty much, yeah.
- 1:49Speaker 2: Awesome well welcome.
- 1:50Speaker 1: It's so exciting to have you here.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Well, thank you for having me Tell us a little bit about yourself.
- 1:56Speaker 2: I have a background in natural healing and that's actually what set me into astrology.
- 2:03Speaker 2: It was kind of an unexpected Plot twist.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Yeah, it really was, because you know, i had gone in for my health and was expecting it to be more natural.
- 2:14Speaker 2: It was still very different from what I had experienced before, but it was so much more than that.
- 2:22Speaker 2: It ended up being like learning about different ways of viewing the world and spirituality astrology I was taught a little bit of medical astrology, so astrology having to do with your health.
- 2:36Speaker 1: How am I just now learning that?
- 2:38Speaker 1: That's amazing.
- 2:40Speaker 1: I mean, a lot of my spiritual and healing journey has been influenced by health related issues too.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Because of some health related issues, i leaned hard into yoga and then in yoga, i learned about all these different principles and ways of viewing the world, like you're saying, and it just all one step led to the other.
- 3:00Speaker 2: It was a really cool and interesting introduction and then as an astrologer now I can go look back to that time period and see why that was.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Because it was written in the stars, if you will Pretty much.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Written in the stars, so this is a bit so right, let's put a little container around this conversation.
- 3:18Speaker 1: So this is a big conversation about is my life mine to choose and direct, or was it all written in the stars?
- 3:26Speaker 1: It's a pretty big conversation.
- 3:29Speaker 2: Yes, it is.
- 3:31Speaker 1: It is and.
- 3:32Speaker 2: I would say the way we view astrology is maybe a good way to say it, rather than just simply fate.
- 3:41Speaker 2: I mean, things leading up, these little choices that you make every day leading up to something, and it just so happens that you have this relationship with these planets at certain times, i mean it just sort of like sparked this thing in me where I just wanted to change everything And so that happened at this time, when the planet Uranus was right on my ascendant, and that's when you start like new chapters of your life.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Changing everything.
- 4:16Speaker 2: Uranus is exactly that, where it's like this radical change, and so, as I said, the way I approached the world was completely changed.
- 4:26Speaker 2: I went from taking like anti-depressants That was really more of what started me on this healing path was actually like using physical modalities, health modalities, to get off of my anti-depressants.
- 4:42Speaker 2: It was the third time I had tried and it was probably the most difficult thing I could have done.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Like at least it was a.
- 4:53Speaker 2: You know that's a very difficult thing to get off of, especially like I wasn't sure, you know I failed or not.
- 5:01Speaker 2: I don't maybe want, don't want to say failed, but like I wasn't successful the first time I was picking up what you're putting down.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Yeah, And so I had to really like accept how to process my emotions, like in my own way, because I was so used to suppressing them that Uranus is the planet of this radical change And that like so for Uranus to come at that particular time like it was it was a 2014, it just totally changed how I was And so that's how people like view me too, so it's kind of radical like for me to do pre and post everything natural from a time when I was doing everything you know pharmaceutical beforehand, like even, even just I actually haven't touched a pharmaceutical since.
- 5:49Speaker 2: So that's just how radical the change, Yeah, Wow.
- 5:54Speaker 1: So so we do have some autonomy, in that we make chase choices every day, and also there is much that is already written in the stars, and then we get to decide whether or not we find that alignment or whether we resist, would you?
- 6:10Speaker 2: I like that way of describing it.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Yeah, because there's there's this aspect of free will.
- 6:14Speaker 2: It can be with difficult transits, which are you know, we'll just say it this way.
- 6:20Speaker 2: So you've got your natal chart, your birth chart, which is the.
- 6:23Speaker 2: You know, the moment you were born, the stars, the planets were aligned a certain way And that's what you carry throughout your life.
- 6:32Speaker 2: That's your static chart.
- 6:34Speaker 1: And is that is that part of when we think of human design and we can look up our human design based on our birth time and gene keys.
- 6:45Speaker 1: We look it up based on our birth time like this is all inter or overlapping, yeah, okay, so we have our natal chart, okay.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Yeah, And then the transits would be how the current skies, how the current alignments are affecting that chart.
- 6:59Speaker 2: So it was a transit.
- 7:03Speaker 2: the transit of Uranus moving through my first house was what catapulted this big change in my life.
- 7:12Speaker 1: And so by transit you just mean planets moving in the sky.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Yeah, they're transiting, yeah.
- 7:18Speaker 2: And how it's moving in my own natal chart.
- 7:20Speaker 2: Yeah, So these can be difficult and there can be ones that are really beneficial, ones that are really helpful and hopeful.
- 7:30Speaker 2: So you, even if you have a beneficial transit like Jupiter would be the planet of, you know optimism of usually good, beneficial changes in your life, but there's still, there's still ways that you can, you know, sort of maybe I wouldn't say you're ever like unlucky to speak during those transits, but it's more like you can take more advantage of it rather than less, if you actually know.
- 8:02Speaker 1: If you know what's going on.
- 8:04Speaker 2: Yeah, Yeah, So you're able to take better advantage of something good And also you're able to kind of navigate your life just more according to like what's kind of like what energies are kind of working more in your favor and which ones are kind of working against you So you may have more resistance and you can.
- 8:26Speaker 2: It's kind of like giving you this map to your life.
- 8:29Speaker 1: Really love that.
- 8:30Speaker 1: So we had kind of a giggle about that when we touched base on Friday about you picked today because of where we are astrologically.
- 8:39Speaker 2: Yeah, so it's today, it's more so the end of the day.
- 8:44Speaker 2: So by the time people listen to this, it will definitely be, you know, full full In play.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Okay, tell us, tell us what's unfolding.
- 8:52Speaker 2: Well, we have the screen equinox today, and that means, astrologically speaking, that's when the sun moves into Aries, and so Aries is all about new beginnings.
- 9:02Speaker 2: It's the you know, it's the initiator, it's the courageous one, the warrior, the independent one, and so moving into Aries means that we're starting the astrological new year.
- 10:06Speaker 2: This is also, you know, in terms of Western astrology.
- 10:10Speaker 2: It's we're going off of the seasons, So the start of each season is a really critical point in astrology, and so it's like it's very much tied to being more, more in tune with nature.
- 10:24Speaker 1: With the nature, yes.
- 10:26Speaker 2: And the start of our astrological year is in spring, when things are actually coming to life, makes a lot of sense to me, versus like in winter, when things are dying.
- 10:36Speaker 2: This is like just it's intuitively makes sense.
- 10:40Speaker 2: And so we have each season and then it's broken down into there are three zodiacs within those zodiacs Those seasons.
- 10:49Speaker 2: Yeah, so it's seasonally speaking too.
- 10:56Speaker 1: Love that.
- 10:56Speaker 1: So I asked you this question earlier in the week.
- 11:01Speaker 1: but in my experience of this past week I've already felt kind of what I would call some Aries energy.
- 11:08Speaker 1: I've already been tapped into some like big, courageous stuff.
- 11:12Speaker 1: What would you say to someone who says, well, you know, i hear you, but what if how I'm experiencing life doesn't line up exactly with what the calendar says?
- 11:22Speaker 2: Well, there are.
- 11:22Speaker 2: There are certain things in the sense that other planets can be in the same sign.
- 11:28Speaker 2: So we had Jupiter in Aries and that's a much longer transit.
- 11:33Speaker 2: So people might have been feeling just more, more boldness.
- 11:36Speaker 2: Just, you know, especially the past, the past several months, so, but even more more recently, you know, there's Venus into Aries, there is Mercury into Aries just a couple of days ago.
- 11:51Speaker 2: Mercury is the way we speak, so if people start, for the next few weeks, getting into getting into, maybe, arguments, because they're like a little, they're a little blunt, they're going like a little too quickly with their words, and not really thinking so much about what the other person is thinking, and you know how they'll react to it.
- 12:15Speaker 2: So so that that's, that's one thing to say about that.
- 12:18Speaker 2: But the other thing too is some people, particularly if they have more, maybe more, water in their chart, they're more sensitive and, you know, just kind of can feel and intuit things or like energies, before they So I'm a Gemini and that's an air sign, but you're saying it's possible that if you pulled my natal chart, that there might be other water influences that could influence my ability to intuit.
- 12:47Speaker 1: That's so interesting.
- 12:48Speaker 1: So what I really want our listeners to hear is that so much of what they're experiencing and perceiving is purposeful.
- 12:56Speaker 1: There's a reason.
- 12:57Speaker 1: Yeah, whether it's you know, written in the stars or you know, their souls calling, like they're like, we are always feeling and sensing things for a reason, and the and astrology gives us a major tool to better understand and validate Right, what we're experiencing.
- 13:13Speaker 2: It does, It really gives us context If you went through something really difficult.
- 13:18Speaker 1: There actually is this feeling of like relief that there was, like there was a reason that you know through this you know, and I think so much, our listeners are obviously going through a major transition, and so much grief and so much of what hangs them up in the post of worse phase is why.
- 13:40Speaker 1: Why did this happen or why wasn't I enough?
- 13:43Speaker 1: And so what you're offering us today is another perspective on why Yeah?
- 13:51Speaker 2: Yeah, perspective is a huge thing, like what I even noticed with astrology as I was learning.
- 13:57Speaker 2: It was like the water signs and the water houses, particularly, you know, speaking to the eighth and the 12th houses, which would be affiliated with or associated with Scorpio and Pisces.
- 14:12Speaker 2: These two signs have a lot to do with endings and losses, but on the other side of that is something new, something like exciting and something new doors, new doors to walk through in a new chapter.
- 14:25Speaker 2: So, for instance, scorpio sign of endings is.
- 14:30Speaker 2: The next sign is Sagittarius and Sagittarius is the most optimistic sign of the zodiac.
- 14:39Speaker 1: So producer Joy from our podcast is a Sagittarius and she is happily named Joy.
- 14:43Speaker 1: right She is.
- 14:44Speaker 1: She is Joy, Yeah.
- 14:46Speaker 2: I love that.
- 14:48Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:48Speaker 2: We've had a lot, a lot of stuff happening in Pisces recently which is like this sign that is probably the most difficult to describe because it has to do with the mystical side, the spiritual side, letting go and a lot of release, and it can be grieving, it can be loss, it can be having these feelings of shame or guilt and disappointment because it's the last sign.
- 15:17Speaker 2: It's almost like it's like reflecting on everything that came before And we're coming to this point, this last point, where we just becoming more spiritually connected and thinking less about maybe even the material world.
- 15:32Speaker 2: Right, because this is much less about materials And it's more about the collective, it's more about compassion.
- 15:42Speaker 2: But it can be really like, it can be pretty heavy, it can bring a lot of emotions still.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Well, it's Pisces, it's a water sign, right?
- 15:52Speaker 1: So tears, grief, tears, tears, tears, water, water, water, yeah Also this lack of clarity?
- 15:59Speaker 2: And when we move into Aries, it's a fire sign, another fire sign.
- 16:03Speaker 2: So Sagittarius is fire.
- 16:04Speaker 2: So when we're moving into the fire, it's like there's there's fire, there's more, there's like this, you know moving forward, and so it's, it can bring some excitement.
- 16:17Speaker 2: It brings, you know, with Aries it's like it's our direction, it's our individuality, it's being able to carve our own path And you know that's such a big aspect of, i guess, importance when it comes to grieving the loss of a partner.
- 16:36Speaker 1: Yes.
- 16:36Speaker 1: You know, and reclaiming your identity again.
- 16:40Speaker 2: Yeah, And so people who have been through you know breakups or a divorce.
- 16:47Speaker 2: So Aries is opposite the and the first house is opposite the seventh house And the seventh house is associated with you know.
- 17:00Speaker 2: So this is the, this is the house that is associated with everything, libra.
- 17:04Speaker 2: So these are polarities Aries and Libra.
- 17:07Speaker 2: And Libra is is relationships, is everything with balance And so being the opposite you know of of Aries being independent.
- 17:19Speaker 2: So it's it's I and and me and Aries versus we.
- 17:24Speaker 1: Thou.
- 17:24Speaker 1: Yeah, so this is a season of really leaning into self-expression.
- 17:30Speaker 1: Yep, aha, okay, bam, you can't Take it too.
- 17:32Speaker 1: Yeah, it's amazing, yeah, so it's so intriguing this idea of being able to look at my chart and look at, honestly, the houses are beyond me.
- 17:41Speaker 1: I have not wrapped my head around that, right, but I've never had my chart looked at either.
- 17:45Speaker 1: So we had a brief chat about that.
- 17:46Speaker 1: That's something we have to remedy, but I feel intimidated about that.
- 17:50Speaker 1: Can you speak to that?
- 17:51Speaker 1: Have you had people say, like what, if it's terrifying to look at this almost predictive tool?
- 17:59Speaker 2: That's a very good point, i mean.
- 18:01Speaker 1: What if I don't want to know?
- 18:02Speaker 1: What if I only think I want to know?
- 18:04Speaker 2: Well, here's the thing, and this is where we're talking about.
- 18:08Speaker 2: Is it faded Or are there aspects of choice?
- 18:13Speaker 2: And so the way I approach it is I never would.
- 18:18Speaker 2: Someone came to me and they had certain things about a breakup.
- 18:22Speaker 2: I wouldn't see it as this relationship is ending And I wouldn't be making that assumption and telling a person that ever It's more like these would be times where you need to really evaluate your relationship.
- 18:42Speaker 2: It's all in how you approach it, because, at the end of the day, i'm not omnipresent.
- 18:51Speaker 1: I don't know what's happened.
- 18:53Speaker 1: You're not the boss.
- 18:54Speaker 2: Yeah, i'm not going to tell you, hey, you're going to get divorced at this time And you're going to go through a breakup at this time.
- 19:03Speaker 2: Like I don't have that ability, i don't want that ability either.
- 19:07Speaker 1: But anyways before being.
- 19:10Speaker 2: I can direct someone towards this.
- 19:13Speaker 2: This could be a time where you need to start working on this aspect of your relationship, because there are times that would be more difficult where, let's say, the planet Neptune is involved And there could be this confusion People aren't on the same page, they're not understanding, they're not communicating very well.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Something might be a little just, mysterious or behind closed doors Like, maybe like Uranus we had described where it's like you need more freedom, And so there is this element in the relationship.
- 19:57Speaker 2: There is a lot of togetherness.
- 19:59Speaker 2: It's all about us.
- 20:02Speaker 1: And then maybe you call for space.
- 20:04Speaker 2: Yes, it's never just like boom And then something happens Like there's always something that leads up, like it's always going through this story.
- 20:15Speaker 2: You always want to see it as crafting this story, as opposed to just like definitive heads and yeah, exactly Yeah.
- 20:24Speaker 2: there's always like little things that lead up to it.
- 20:28Speaker 1: So the intimidation that I feel about looking at my chart would really be me just kind of being susceptible to feelings of helplessness, when really it's just like you said, it's the context to add, to have the insight, to have maybe a greater awareness of what's going on around me, within me.
- 20:47Speaker 1: Yeah, ok, ok, so tell me how someone so, for instance, in my own story, when I started to come to some of these kind of alternative ways of seeing the world, there was a lot of shame and fear I had to work through because the religion I grew up in kind of had something to say about it.
- 21:07Speaker 1: Right, like that it's I don't know, not holy or something, and so what would you say to the person that's like I don't know?
- 21:13Speaker 1: is this really true, and how does this square with my faith practice?
- 21:19Speaker 2: That's a good I mean, that's a good question.
- 21:21Speaker 2: I don't see it religiously at all personally, but I'm not the most religious person.
- 21:28Speaker 2: Astrology, really like it, says so much about your psychology as well as your personality, and I would even say you know that astrology is more like Like understanding your enneagram style or your human design.
- 21:45Speaker 1: Oh, it's so much more.
- 21:46Speaker 2: Yeah, so I would say so much more than enneagram.
- 21:50Speaker 1: OK.
- 21:51Speaker 2: It's just more complex.
- 21:52Speaker 2: Design is a whole other system that.
- 21:55Speaker 2: I think is astrology.
- 21:56Speaker 2: But as far as astrology goes it's like it kind of you could say that it was like psychology before psychology became more popularized and more.
- 22:12Speaker 1: I see Yeah.
- 22:14Speaker 2: It was definitely a way to see things that people couldn't see in themselves.
- 22:20Speaker 1: OK, ok, that makes a lot of sense to me.
- 22:23Speaker 1: And so then somewhere in Western culture, the rise of I don't know medicine or whatever.
- 22:31Speaker 1: We kind of lost touch with it, maybe lost touch with the stars, kind of guiding us and understanding ourselves better.
- 22:38Speaker 2: It's kind of a difficult question.
- 22:39Speaker 2: I'm not going to lie, because the church had influence over astrology And so the church had.
- 22:46Speaker 2: They took a stance A good thing about astrology It just depends on what you're open to.
- 22:54Speaker 2: If it doesn't resonate, then it's not for you.
- 22:57Speaker 2: Let it go, aha, but sometimes resonance feels like dissonance.
- 23:04Speaker 1: Sometimes, when something feels dissonant, it needs a second look What shame or what guilt or what fear might be activated that's causing that dissonance?
- 23:13Speaker 1: I had this really interesting conversation over the holidays with a family member who referenced the farmer's almanac And this was a religious family member, right, someone who, but the farmer's almanac, leans heavily on astrology.
- 23:26Speaker 1: And farmers, i would think, are probably pretty traditionally religious.
- 23:31Speaker 1: Also, that's painting with a broad brush.
- 23:32Speaker 1: I totally just labeled a whole group of people, but it was really interesting to me to hear that this tool that our farmers have been using for gosh knows how long uses astrology to help plant their crops and to know when to plant and when to harvest and when to protect against whatever's coming, because it's written in the stars.
- 23:57Speaker 2: Yeah, and there's a long history of herbalists in particular that use astrology, and especially the older and further back you go, the more meticulous they were about very perfectionistic.
- 24:12Speaker 2: I will only plant this crop under this particular moon phase.
- 24:19Speaker 1: I have read that in my very fancy homeopathy book, the Materia MetaCa.
- 24:23Speaker 1: I've read that or somewhere that some of the preparations were done under specific moon phases And that's kind of an old way.
- 24:31Speaker 1: It's very interesting And I think it feels very far away from us today.
- 24:36Speaker 1: It feels like how much of this truly, truly applies to me, emily, like really.
- 24:41Speaker 1: But then I stop and I say well, the moon causes the entire ocean to move.
- 24:46Speaker 1: So there's that.
- 24:48Speaker 2: There is that exactly, and we know the influence on emotions too like a full moon, and there tend to be some wild things that happen on full moon.
- 25:01Speaker 2: There's definitely a history with farming, agriculture overall, herbalism and astrology, and in the Middle Ages they had to learn astrology in order to be a doctor, so it has an interesting history there.
- 25:18Speaker 2: That is very interesting, yeah, and even that it said that that Rx for prescription comes from.
- 25:27Speaker 2: it's almost like a signing off of.
- 25:29Speaker 2: I've read the horoscope of this person.
- 25:32Speaker 1: You're kidding me.
- 25:32Speaker 1: When someone writes Rx for prescription like that, we see in pharmacy signs and whatnot that that comes from that Middle Age astrological practice.
- 25:41Speaker 1: Wow, things we didn't know.
- 25:44Speaker 1: we didn't know.
- 25:45Speaker 1: So astrology is woven into the lens of popular culture.
- 25:51Speaker 1: We like to read horoscopes and we know what our signs are and we maybe are playful with it, but in all honesty, when we're going through these really heavy periods, it's a beautiful tool to help us really understand and make sense of the path that we're on.
- 26:08Speaker 2: Yeah, and I think the problem that people, when they're really skeptical, the problem that happens, and usually it has so much to do with the fact that they only know their sun signs.
- 26:22Speaker 1: Say more about that, because I'm clueless.
- 26:24Speaker 2: You know, if you generalize the entire population in 12 zodiac signs like that's not really that complex.
- 26:33Speaker 2: It's not like it doesn't describe how different we are as people, but the astrology chart.
- 26:41Speaker 2: it speaks to how you appear to people, how you approach life, how you think, how you speak, how you relate to other people, what your emotions are like and what you need, what you desire in life.
- 26:59Speaker 1: All of this is Like you're like this study Is recorded in our natal chart.
- 27:04Speaker 1: all of this.
- 27:08Speaker 2: Yeah, i guess you mentioned spirituality, so spirituality is a part of this chart too.
- 27:13Speaker 1: Are these also the houses that you were referencing?
- 27:15Speaker 1: So we have a sun sign, a moon sign.
- 27:20Speaker 2: You have a sun sign.
- 27:20Speaker 2: You have a moon sign.
- 27:22Speaker 2: Your Venus is in a certain sign.
- 27:24Speaker 2: Your Mars is in a sign.
- 27:25Speaker 2: You know it's going all through the planets.
- 27:28Speaker 2: There's Chiron, and this is the wounded healer.
- 27:32Speaker 2: This will tell you where you have wounds and insecurities and pain.
- 27:38Speaker 1: Chiron and I, we're rider-diamond.
- 27:40Speaker 1: We really have a deep understanding of one another.
- 27:48Speaker 2: Yeah, i mean it's where you maybe feel abandoned And it's you know, there's just and it's with the mythology Chiron never actually, he never healed himself, but he was able to heal other people.
- 28:01Speaker 2: So there is this element of woundedness that really refers to how our entire lives we have something to heal.
- 28:12Speaker 2: We're never just like.
- 28:14Speaker 2: We have this Like.
- 28:15Speaker 2: So when you go let's say, someone goes and looks up their Chiron after listening to this interview, you're not going to just, you know, go approach that and heal that within the matter of a year.
- 28:27Speaker 2: You know this is throughout your life.
- 28:29Speaker 2: It's just something that you keep working on throughout your life.
- 28:32Speaker 1: You know, i was really noodling on that this morning because so many folks that I've worked with in the course of my career are in such a rush to heal.
- 28:41Speaker 1: And I relate to that on a certain level too right, i think a little bit.
- 28:45Speaker 1: I enjoy the ride because it's so of me, like it's my calling right As a healer.
- 28:50Speaker 1: So when I hear people in a rush to heal, it really kind of eclipses our ability to know ourselves on this deeper level.
- 28:59Speaker 1: It like eclipses our ability to find alignment, to really live in joy consistently, sustainably.
- 29:06Speaker 1: So, rather than being a rush, you know, the thing people say to me is I told myself I wasn't going to cry in session today.
- 29:13Speaker 1: Well, why would you want to not cry in session unless you were in a hurry, right?
- 29:17Speaker 1: And so when we just kind of accept that healing is going to be an ongoing part of my journey, then I have this opportunity to really find alignment and consistent joy and consistent ease, even when the circumstances suck.
- 29:35Speaker 2: Yeah, because I've known, i've known about my car on for at least several years or so And it's like, yes, it's definitely definitely still an ongoing thing that I need to work at.
- 29:46Speaker 1: Steps in and out, in and out.
- 29:48Speaker 2: Yeah, but you know it's just.
- 29:50Speaker 2: But then there's like there's so much beauty in it too, because we're looking at this, it's in a sign, but there can also be planets that are interacting with this chiron as well.
- 30:00Speaker 2: So for me, my mercury is conjunct chiron and it's in Leo, and so myself, expression and also my communication, so doing podcast, the fact that I get on video and record podcasts and forecasts, like that's a very big deal for me.
- 30:23Speaker 2: So it's like it's like it's something that I've had to really work at.
- 30:26Speaker 2: It's something that I've had to really sort of kind of get over myself and just like put information out there, because there's the healing component of it.
- 30:36Speaker 2: Mercury chiron conjunction can also be healing words for other people as well.
- 30:42Speaker 2: So it's an important part of my process too, and just even as part of you know, chiron would be like associated with astrology as well.
- 30:53Speaker 2: This chiron placement is forming a trine, which is a good aspect to my ascendant.
- 31:00Speaker 2: So how people view me is my ascendant And so having that placement, you know, is meant for me to be speaking.
- 31:09Speaker 1: It shows you where to push yourself or challenge yourself or to grow through something.
- 31:15Speaker 1: 100% Aha.
- 31:16Speaker 1: So just you being here with us today, is you using your chart to really step into, like your authentic?
- 31:27Speaker 2: Yeah, because I was always like the quiet person.
- 31:30Speaker 2: You know I would be like the quietest person in the group, but it's funny because it's like I'm the loudest person on the microphone or my camera phone.
- 31:39Speaker 2: So, yeah, it's just coming from that place of being really shy and not feeling like I had anything to say and then like growing into this.
- 31:49Speaker 2: Like you know, this is, i can use my voice as an expression.
- 31:54Speaker 2: So, leo, being the self expression, i use my words through that.
- 31:59Speaker 1: Wow, that's amazing.
- 32:00Speaker 1: So we talked about a few episodes back about is this anxiety or is this intuition?
- 32:06Speaker 1: And I think that it's easy for us to get bogged down in, you know, not knowing what to do in a certain situation.
- 32:15Speaker 1: Which path do I take?
- 32:17Speaker 1: Which action do I take?
- 32:18Speaker 1: Can I trust myself?
- 32:19Speaker 1: so much of a post-divorce world is learning to trust yourself again Before you can even consider trusting other people.
- 32:27Speaker 1: So what I'm hearing you say is that if I really have an in-depth understanding of my chart, it can help me make hard decisions when I feel very confused and I don't know if I can trust what I'm seeing, what I'm experiencing.
- 32:40Speaker 1: the voice that's inside of me is that my mental chatter?
- 32:45Speaker 1: or is it my gut telling me, hey, you need to take this leap or leave this thing, or whatever?
- 32:52Speaker 2: Yeah, totally, You know.
- 32:53Speaker 2: another thing too that I brought into my astrology practice is the use of flower essences.
- 33:04Speaker 1: Oh, so this I've heard of in homeopathy.
- 33:07Speaker 1: Would you call flower essences homeopathy or is it something?
- 33:10Speaker 2: different.
- 33:11Speaker 2: They're similar.
- 33:12Speaker 2: Okay, They're definitely different.
- 33:14Speaker 2: Yeah, so flower essences don't have those.
- 33:18Speaker 2: They're not used in different potencies.
- 33:21Speaker 1: Okay.
- 33:22Speaker 2: So flower essences are more so specified towards emotions.
- 33:28Speaker 2: Okay, so they can help you on a physical level, but that's usually if the case would be if you're holding onto an emotion so much that it is like It's causing disease Issues.
- 33:43Speaker 2: So it can ultimately help on that level, but it is a little similar to homeopathy.
- 33:51Speaker 2: It's because we're working with energetics here, and so this but rather than this is a medicine that, rather than having a biochemical effect, this is working with, it's working on a more vibrational level.
- 34:09Speaker 2: So think of it as like you're an out of tune guitar and-.
- 34:15Speaker 1: I love that.
- 34:16Speaker 1: So a flower essence is literally made from the essence of a flower.
- 34:20Speaker 2: Yeah, and so, depending on what I need, Yes, You're taking a bowl of water and the petals of the flower, you're putting it into exposing it to sunlight And you have.
- 34:35Speaker 2: You're kind of, you're just like you're capturing.
- 34:38Speaker 2: You're capturing that imprint of the flower and that's what you're utilizing, And it was actually a very interesting time that.
- 34:48Speaker 2: So the most popular flower essences are the Bach remedies.
- 34:53Speaker 1: And.
- 34:53Speaker 2: Bach in 1930, i believe was when he had this system of taking these, because flower essences had been around for a while, but flower essences specific to different emotional states, and this in 1930 was right around the time that I mean think about the tumultuous times.
- 35:17Speaker 2: Sure, at that season in a world.
- 35:20Speaker 2: The Great Depression And I thought it was kind of.
- 35:23Speaker 2: I thought it was pretty epic that he had this system of working with people's emotions And he's most known, even for 38 different essences, but his combination of five flower essences called the Resky Remedy.
- 35:43Speaker 2: So these are for like, when you're in like a crisis, so you can go find, like the Bach Resky Remedy.
- 35:53Speaker 1: I've seen these at Whole Foods.
- 35:55Speaker 1: Yeah, wow.
- 35:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 35:58Speaker 1: So the tool people could start using today.
- 36:00Speaker 2: Yeah, 100%.
- 36:02Speaker 2: I look at people's charts and their transits and that's how I am able to at least get the initial essences.
- 36:13Speaker 2: But I also want to, you know, consult with them and like, see like what's actually going on, to get more information.
- 36:21Speaker 2: but emotions are kind of presenting.
- 36:23Speaker 1: So, after reading someone's chart, you could, based on having a conversation with them, recommend a specific remedy of flower essence that would help support their current struggle.
- 36:36Speaker 2: Yeah, and I will say a few just right off the bat.
- 36:40Speaker 2: If we're dealing with a breakup, well, starb Bethlehem is something that people could take if they have that initial shock.
- 36:52Speaker 2: There's that sort of like you know, like it's hard information to process.
- 36:58Speaker 2: That's a really good one for trauma.
- 37:02Speaker 2: Another one, reading an X, would be bleeding heart.
- 37:08Speaker 2: That's really good for breakups.
- 37:14Speaker 2: And you know, another one would be Holly, and Holly is one that you have so much pain and anger and hatred where you just you lose trust of others.
- 37:30Speaker 2: I mean, it's usually directed at this particular person, but it's like it can be like others as well, and yourself, even though Holly tends to get this if it has nothing to do with a breakup.
- 37:45Speaker 2: In particular, these feelings of hatred or even jealousy can come from a period of time where you're not around people, so you start to kind of like lose trust because you have enough exposure.
- 38:00Speaker 1: Aha, like if you've been isolating.
- 38:02Speaker 1: I see, okay, wow, game changing recommendation, thank you.
- 38:07Speaker 1: So let's say I reach out.
- 38:10Speaker 1: I say, okay, emily, i need to know more.
- 38:12Speaker 1: What's it like from the point of making contact with you?
- 38:15Speaker 1: Like, what happens next?
- 38:16Speaker 1: What happens in a chart reading Right?
- 38:18Speaker 1: Like, what do you do when you're working with people?
- 38:22Speaker 2: It depends on what they're, what they're coming for, if they're new and they're getting a natal chart reading, i'm essentially expressing like the core of who they are and some people, just that in touch, yeah, in touch, in touch with that.
- 38:39Speaker 2: You know some people they're, you know they have.
- 38:43Speaker 2: It's kind of like opening the door to a self-reflective process.
- 38:47Speaker 2: And so you know, and I think I will give the challenges that you may be facing, and also like your gifts they could be more hidden, even hidden gifts I can tell them about how they are in relationships, the type of person that they're likely to attract and the type of person that they might need you know more.
- 39:15Speaker 2: So in a relationship, i can tell them about their career and in a transit reading it's a little bit more specified towards like a period of time.
- 39:27Speaker 2: So what can you expect for the next six months, or six to twelve months?
- 39:36Speaker 1: I see.
- 39:36Speaker 1: So if I was coming to you for my natal chart, you give me like the foundation, like the core stuff of who I am.
- 39:41Speaker 1: And then, let's say, i book a follow-up appointment because I want to have a deeper sense of what's going on for me now, or what's been going on from here, what's going to be unfolding for me.
- 39:53Speaker 2: Sure, yeah, another way to, if you're like me so I'm a cancer, i'm very much like interested in the in the past too, so you can get transit readings.
- 40:05Speaker 2: You know a mix, you know.
- 40:06Speaker 2: Maybe you want to look and look ahead, but maybe you want to look and reflect back on something in the past.
- 40:12Speaker 2: So it like it.
- 40:14Speaker 2: That really helped me to go back into the past and let go make sense growing on at this time.
- 40:22Speaker 1: Yes, wow, that is so cool.
- 40:25Speaker 1: Fun fact, i have a lot of really great cancers in my life.
- 40:34Speaker 2: Yeah, definitely more definitely more of the sensitive type and more of a story, and you know it's a, i think it's definitely.
- 40:44Speaker 2: I have a lot of cancer in my chart.
- 40:45Speaker 2: It's definitely what gives me pretty strong intuition, so like kind of feeling things before, before they happen.
- 40:54Speaker 2: And it's funny because cancer rules the stomach and so you know, it's like trusting your gut.
- 41:02Speaker 1: Super cool.
- 41:02Speaker 1: So you know, there is just clearly, in talking to you, there's just so much to know about all of this and I know one of the things that's helped me.
- 41:10Speaker 1: Maybe you have some additional insight but one of the things that's helped me is just to see it as like okay, i'm just gonna kind of learn as I go.
- 41:17Speaker 1: Right.
- 41:17Speaker 1: I, i have always just kind of taken the like okay, i'm a Gemini, whatever you know.
- 41:22Speaker 1: But last year I really went through a powerful spiritual awakening I don't know what else to call it right.
- 41:29Speaker 1: It really was inward, and the Instagram handle Moon Omens came into my feed somehow and I just started digging deeper and I already was collecting crystals and I already would use sage in my therapy practice in my energetic healing spaces and had singing bowls, so like I had been dabbling right.
- 41:49Speaker 1: But then all of a sudden I'm like okay, now I'm gonna dig in and I bought books and a calendar and I started to really just kind of looking at what's going on and feeling like do I feel this, do I not feel this?
- 42:01Speaker 1: and I just can hear how much there is to learn, but just kind of looking at it as a journey.
- 42:08Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, totally.
- 42:10Speaker 2: I mean, i've learned.
- 42:11Speaker 2: I've learned from teachers, i've learned from books, i've learned from podcasts, but I've also learned from my experiences.
- 42:16Speaker 2: So, just like I think, as we were speaking, you know, last week I had said, you know, one of the things you could do if you're brand new to this is just, you know, think about the season that we're in.
- 42:30Speaker 2: So I described, we had the, we have the four seasons, but then, broken down, we have three mini seasons and that's zodiac sign.
- 42:38Speaker 2: So we've got the very beginning of spring, which is Aries.
- 42:41Speaker 2: You know you could take the, you know the month, the like 30 days, and just reflect and just see, like you know, you go look up what is this sign, you know, and what is this sign, and throughout the year, and give yourself time to, because you know it's, it's, it's not just gonna like sink in immediately, but the way I did it was just like, okay, what you know, what kind of quality is in my, in my feeling, during this time.
- 43:07Speaker 2: You know, it's just a simple way of of experiencing it.
- 43:11Speaker 2: And the same thing for moon cycles, the same thing for you know, if someone were to give a forecaster, even just read your chart.
- 43:21Speaker 2: It's one thing to to talk about the energies, but how it specifically comes into your life is a little bit of experience you know, when you have, you can have that visceral feeling and that is the true knowledge of astrology.
- 43:38Speaker 2: You can do, you can do as much forecasting, but it just it hits you on a totally different level when you actually experience, when you experience it and when you talk about certain aspects of this, you just light up like I just see like your confidence and your light shine through and it's so cool.
- 43:56Speaker 1: you could just tell how passionate you are about it.
- 43:58Speaker 1: Thank you, yeah.
- 44:01Speaker 2: It's something that like it felt like it fell out of the sky when it started clicking.
- 44:06Speaker 2: It just really started clicking and I think, once I realized that I had to have some of this like real life experience with each of these you know transits that's when it just like you know cemented.
- 44:20Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly it.
- 44:21Speaker 2: just it was just like well, you know, i keep proving myself right in this way, where it's like you know I had I was very skeptical, uh huh.
- 44:33Speaker 2: It took me a very long time to come around to this, to be honest, but it's through the personal experiences that I'm just like well, that's, you know, i think there's.
- 44:42Speaker 2: there's an astrologer I can't think of his name right now.
- 44:46Speaker 2: He calls it astrology good, where, even if it's this, even if it's like something like not good, like.
- 44:54Speaker 2: Negative and bad, like he calls it astrology.
- 44:57Speaker 2: Good because it's just so like, it makes so much sense point.
- 45:03Speaker 1: Astrology good, i like that.
- 45:04Speaker 1: Have you seen that meme?
- 45:06Speaker 1: I love a good like Therapy meme or spirituality meme, right, but the one that's like, well, the moon isn't full and nothing is retrograde.
- 45:15Speaker 1: Oh, it's me So used to sometimes call it painful things to do with.
- 45:24Speaker 1: Yeah, what's?
- 45:25Speaker 1: you know?
- 45:25Speaker 1: something's in retrograde.
- 45:26Speaker 1: The moon is up to something, yeah.
- 45:28Speaker 2: I know it is funny and and On the same, no, i do you know, for as much as we can feel into the, the energies and the source of kinds of events, you know, because there there are astrologers that are very good with going back into talking about these different times in history, and it's kind of like What it reminds me of Which, if people aren't familiar with astrology, like think about how, you know, for the stock market or for, like, the economy, there are different cycles, that I go, and so in a way It's kind of like that astrology is kind of like that.
- 46:07Speaker 2: It's like we look at, we look at the past and what happened around this time and it can bring some not exact But similar types of events.
- 46:17Speaker 2: No, is it so we're finding that correlation and how it?
- 46:22Speaker 2: you know it's gonna look different.
- 46:27Speaker 1: We would each cycle Mm-hmm.
- 46:29Speaker 1: Yeah, totally, it's similar themes.
- 46:32Speaker 2: Similar themes, because every you know, each planet has, you know, has their different, their different themes, their different lessons.
- 46:41Speaker 2: No, and another thing I was gonna say too.
- 46:45Speaker 2: I think it's like because you kind of like, oh okay, you can only blame yourself, right, but it's not this planet, is that it's never the planet's fault.
- 46:54Speaker 2: It's the planet revealing to us what we need to see within ourselves.
- 47:00Speaker 1: The planet, revealing to us the thing we need to see and own and deal with.
- 47:06Speaker 2: Yeah, at the end of the day, if you think about astrology in a psychological way, it's like we're projecting.
- 47:13Speaker 1: We're so good at that, mm-hmm.
- 47:15Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's even the same.
- 47:16Speaker 2: You know, you can think about having a relationship with these planets too.
- 47:20Speaker 2: It's like in a relationship We're often projecting things onto, onto the other person.
- 47:26Speaker 2: Was the same thing on the planet, But it's.
- 47:29Speaker 2: But it's there to teach us.
- 47:30Speaker 1: You know, there's always lessons to be learned, So Yeah, i imagine when we were talking about transits earlier harder transits, easier transits They are.
- 47:38Speaker 1: They're probably like growth transits, like transits of like intense growth, which always feels hard AF.
- 47:45Speaker 1: Yeah, and then maybe easier transits, transits which are like maybe resting transits are like Yeah transits of just great support and yeah totally Yeah and free, you know.
- 47:57Speaker 2: Just for reference point, let's talk about Saturn.
- 48:00Speaker 2: People fear Saturn because it's like you know, if you've heard about the Saturn return, about the first, I got divorced during my Saturn return.
- 48:12Speaker 2: Oh Yeah, it's so that these major events, like it, like in our life, they take place around these Saturn returns where it's like you could, you know, some people get divorced, some people get married, some people just start their careers, some decide to settle down and have kids, so it's like it's it's also this time where you're just you're sort of tested.
- 48:34Speaker 2: It's that reflection of you know, the last like 28 years and How, how you've been living it.
- 48:42Speaker 2: So it's kind of like it's difficult lessons.
- 48:45Speaker 2: But it ultimately leads to a greater sense of maturity.
- 48:48Speaker 2: You reap what you sow.
- 48:51Speaker 2: If you're willing to put the effort into something, you can be greatly rewarded.
- 48:56Speaker 2: During these times too, yeah, i mean Saturn.
- 48:59Speaker 2: Saturn can be, you know, feared because of the struggles that that can come with it, or just like the, you know the pessimism.
- 49:08Speaker 1: And I relate to that, the fear because of the struggle.
- 49:11Speaker 1: But the thing that I keep coming back to over and over again in my own life and on the pod is that the pain really comes in, the resistance, yeah, and that we could really look at astrology as a tool to help us shed that resistance up front so that we can Just have an easier growth phase, because the resistance is really where I suffer, right, yes, i may have to let go of things that I don't want to let go of, and I may have to Walk a hard path, but at the end of the day, we're all pretty good problem solvers, we're all pretty, you know, we have big hearts, we know what to do, right.
- 49:47Speaker 1: But when we resist the letting go, when we resist the lesson, that's when it's like oh, this, this hurts.
- 49:54Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, totally.
- 49:56Speaker 2: And Pluto, the planet of destruction, is also the planet of empowerment.
- 50:01Speaker 2: You know, you can go through power struggles during major Pluto Transits, and the point is to show you that you aren't powerless.
- 50:12Speaker 2: You Choices to power yourself.
- 50:15Speaker 2: So, you know it's another one, So there's that.
- 50:20Speaker 1: You're teaching us so much good stuff today.
- 50:21Speaker 1: Okay, so let's say someone's listening to this and they're okay.
- 50:24Speaker 1: How do I find Emily?
- 50:26Speaker 1: How do I learn more?
- 50:27Speaker 1: How would someone find you?
- 50:28Speaker 1: What would they do next?
- 50:29Speaker 2: They can go to my website, which is Cypress healing arts calm.
- 50:35Speaker 1: We'll put that in a show notes.
- 50:36Speaker 2: Yeah, cypress like the tree, and I have a YouTube channel, cypress healing arts, and that's where I do Forecasts awesome.
- 50:50Speaker 1: We'll be sure to put that in the show notes also.
- 50:53Speaker 2: Yeah, and that that's really the.
- 50:54Speaker 2: Those are probably the main two places.
- 50:57Speaker 2: I am on Instagram.
- 50:59Speaker 2: I'm also at Cypress healing arts and then I'm also.
- 51:02Speaker 2: I'm also on TikTok.
- 51:04Speaker 2: It sounds funny like it's it's again working with the.
- 51:07Speaker 2: You know the mercury chiron conjunction in Leo.
- 51:10Speaker 2: It's kind of funny to see what comes out, Because it's like what can I do in like three minute videos?
- 51:17Speaker 1: I'm also amazing.
- 51:17Speaker 1: That's amazing.
- 51:19Speaker 1: Wow, i'm very proud of you.
- 51:20Speaker 1: Okay, so I'll put all of that in the show notes And so if they want to book a session with you, they can do that from your website.
- 51:27Speaker 1: They can book a natal chart reading or transit reading or whatever it is to make sense of what they're going through.
- 51:31Speaker 1: That's amazing.
- 51:33Speaker 2: Yeah Yeah, you know one in there too that has the additional flower essence consult.
- 51:40Speaker 1: Okay, so that's in there as well.
- 51:42Speaker 1: Love that.
- 51:43Speaker 1: It has been such a joy to have you on today.
- 51:47Speaker 2: It's been a pleasure being here.
- 51:49Speaker 2: I really appreciate you having me on amazing.
- 51:52Speaker 1: So Tomorrow, when they're hearing this for the first time, give them just a few words of what they're looking for energetically in this current Transit.
- 52:01Speaker 1: I know you said courage, oh.
- 52:04Speaker 2: Yeah, so I mean just the the Sun moving into Aries, it's, it's the time of a fresh start.
- 52:10Speaker 2: So I know a lot of people think that January 1st is a great time for New Year's resolutions, but you might actually have some more flow if you start it, you know, at this time in Aries, because it's the new beginning since the new chapter.
- 52:26Speaker 1: So if our listeners made resolutions in January and they've struggled with them, that would make sense.
- 52:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 52:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 52:34Speaker 1: Start again.
- 52:34Speaker 1: I love so.
- 52:37Speaker 1: So today is the day fresh start, new energy, courageous beginnings.
- 52:42Speaker 2: Yeah, individuality.
- 52:46Speaker 1: All right, thank you.
- 52:48Speaker 1: So so so much.
- 52:49Speaker 1: All right, loves.
- 52:50Speaker 1: Have a beautiful week, peace, dear divorce.
- 53:01Speaker 1: Diary is a podcast by my coach John.
- 53:03Speaker 1: You can find more at my coach John dot com.
