Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: If I laughed so hard I peed my hats multiple times.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Inship and our relationship just Peter France multiple time, multiple
- 0:05Speaker 2: because I'm so funny.
- 0:12Speaker 3: Hi, guys, welcome back to another episode of QUI Confidential.
- 0:16Speaker 3: It's my pleasure to introduce today's guests. I have Madeleine
- 0:19Speaker 3: Pesh and her assistant Amelia Parker, who actually used to.
- 0:22Speaker 4: Be my old intern. Hey girl, Hey, thank you guys
- 0:26Speaker 4: so much for coming today.
- 0:28Speaker 2: Thanks for pairing me with Amelia. Oh my gosh.
- 0:30Speaker 3: Of course, I'm particularly excited about this episode because we're
- 0:34Speaker 3: here to highlight the relationship, of course, but Amelia is
- 0:37Speaker 3: actually transitioning out because she has decided that she wants.
- 0:40Speaker 4: To make a pivot into law. So I want to
- 0:43Speaker 4: talk about how.
- 0:45Speaker 3: Assistants transition out and how you navigate those conversations and
- 0:48Speaker 3: what the end of the road looks like.
- 0:50Speaker 4: So we're going to start.
- 0:51Speaker 3: From the beginning and then we'll get there and sort
- 0:53Speaker 3: of discuss the moment that you guys are in right now. Amazing.
- 0:57Speaker 4: Yeah, So how long.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Has it been thank? Two years?
- 1:00Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:00Speaker 2: Yeah, Oh my gosh.
- 1:01Speaker 1: That two years is a.
- 1:02Speaker 4: Very long long span for assistance.
- 1:05Speaker 2: So that's like, yeah, perfect, I think yeah, yeah.
- 1:08Speaker 3: So that was twenty twenty four. You graduated twenty twenty four, right, yeah, okay, because.
- 1:12Speaker 1: I met you, like I don't know, maybe like four
- 1:15Speaker 1: years ago now, when I was still at NYU. Yeah,
- 1:17Speaker 1: and I was working with you for like a year,
- 1:19Speaker 1: and then I was graduating and you paired you with Mads.
- 1:21Speaker 1: I don't even think I met with anyone else. I
- 1:23Speaker 1: think you were like, I know who would be a
- 1:25Speaker 1: good fit for you, and then vice versa, and then
- 1:27Speaker 1: we met and I moved back to LA like a
- 1:29Speaker 1: month after I graduated and started working. Yeah.
- 1:32Speaker 4: Well, I think the nicest thing about doing these.
- 1:34Speaker 3: Placements is when I have a U or I have
- 1:36Speaker 3: another person who's either worked for me or as a
- 1:39Speaker 3: close friend, where I can go to Madeline and say
- 1:43Speaker 3: I know her, I trust her. I will blindly send
- 1:45Speaker 3: her to you and have no hesitation about her level
- 1:49Speaker 3: of discretion or trust or her being capable. So that
- 1:52Speaker 3: was a very easy not easy, but it was, you know,
- 1:56Speaker 3: it was a very nice here you go.
- 1:58Speaker 4: Yeah, and that probably made I do feel safe.
- 2:01Speaker 2: Well, I mean I also like had I think three
- 2:04Speaker 2: days before I went to go shoot a movie when
- 2:05Speaker 2: I called you and so we didn't have a lot
- 2:07Speaker 2: of time for me to be interviewing tons of people.
- 2:08Speaker 2: And at a certain point, I think I called you
- 2:09Speaker 2: and said, I don't know what to do. Can you
- 2:11Speaker 2: just tell me what to do? And You're like, the
- 2:12Speaker 2: only person I know in this candidate pool is Amelia.
- 2:14Speaker 2: You should hire her?
- 2:14Speaker 1: And I did.
- 2:15Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:15Speaker 2: I'm also I'm I'm notoriously horrible at making these decisions,
- 2:19Speaker 2: like very bad at it.
- 2:20Speaker 4: Well, you can't be that bad.
- 2:22Speaker 2: I'm pretty bad. I didn't like, I didn't make this one.
- 2:24Speaker 2: You made it for me. Yeah, do you know what
- 2:26Speaker 2: I mean? And Andy, Yeah, and then now she's been
- 2:28Speaker 2: making a decisions.
- 2:29Speaker 3: Yeah, well both of you picked your replacement who I adore,
- 2:34Speaker 3: and I was very impressed by her.
- 2:36Speaker 4: So I think you, you know, as a team, you
- 2:39Speaker 4: guys pick.
- 2:39Speaker 2: Well, yeah, thank you. We made a great team.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Yes. It's so it's so funny, like I feel like
- 2:45Speaker 1: when we first met too, like we had a lot
- 2:49Speaker 1: in common, and I think it just felt like a
- 2:51Speaker 1: conversation where she was like it's like she was like, yeah,
- 2:54Speaker 1: you went to college and you had like internships, but
- 2:55Speaker 1: that's not even really what we talked about. It's like,
- 2:57Speaker 1: I think so much of the jobs learnable, and if
- 3:00Speaker 1: you have experienced doing it obviously makes a difference. But
- 3:02Speaker 1: I think with us it was like such a like
- 3:06Speaker 1: a vibe thing at first, where it was like we
- 3:08Speaker 1: knew we could make it work. And then obviously there's
- 3:10Speaker 1: like growing pains for the first few months, but figuring
- 3:13Speaker 1: out the person and it takes some time, but it's hard,
- 3:16Speaker 1: Like I think picking someone so tough because you don't
- 3:20Speaker 1: like you, I don't know, it's so personal. Yeah, it's
- 3:23Speaker 1: so hard to just like meet someone and then be
- 3:25Speaker 1: like okay, and no, I'll come to my house in
- 3:26Speaker 1: two days and learn about my entire inner world.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Here's the code to my gate, here's the heat of
- 3:30Speaker 2: my house, here's all my.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Nuclear codes, here's my dog, literally like all my meds,
- 3:34Speaker 1: like everything you want to know, Like let's let's go. Yeah,
- 3:37Speaker 1: and it's just at And I think not everyone is
- 3:41Speaker 1: like willing to kind of be so open on both ends,
- 3:44Speaker 1: Like I think both people need to be very open
- 3:46Speaker 1: and transparent. I think Mads was like that when we met,
- 3:48Speaker 1: and I was like that too, where we both were
- 3:50Speaker 1: just like.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Well, actually, when we met, Amelia told me she was like,
- 3:53Speaker 2: I really firmly believe in boundaries, like I'm not going
- 3:55Speaker 2: to be your friend, and I was like, cool, I
- 3:57Speaker 2: don't want to be your friends, like I just need
- 3:59Speaker 2: an assistant. We both were a little bit because I'd
- 4:01Speaker 2: had like some bad experiences and she had heard of
- 4:03Speaker 2: her friends bad experiences, so she was like, I'm not
- 4:05Speaker 2: gonna make a friend. And now it's like you have
- 4:07Speaker 2: a friend for life.
- 4:07Speaker 1: You can't get rid of it.
- 4:08Speaker 3: No.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Literally, like when we had our parting conversation, it was
- 4:11Speaker 1: like horrible, and I literally was like, I'm obviously you're
- 4:13Speaker 1: gonna be at my wedding, Like what do you.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Mean, I'm crazy, We're gonna have to do like weekly dinners. Yeah,
- 4:17Speaker 2: your life.
- 4:18Speaker 1: It's like we're like fuck, but no, I mean I
- 4:20Speaker 1: think at first you think that, like you, you can't control, Yeah,
- 4:23Speaker 1: you love you know, yeah, and obviously you have boundaries
- 4:26Speaker 1: of course in certain ways. But like you, it's impossible
- 4:29Speaker 1: to not become really close with the person because you
- 4:31Speaker 1: spend like I mean, we've spent more time together in
- 4:34Speaker 1: the last two years and we've spent with.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Literally anybody else. And also I think, like, specifically to me,
- 4:38Speaker 2: a lot of my friends who have gotten assistance through you.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Like they don't bring their sistants on set with them,
- 4:43Speaker 2: like they keep them here to run things, but like,
- 4:45Speaker 2: I am somebody who needs my assistant on set with me.
- 4:46Speaker 2: So it's like we're spending sometimes twenty hours a day
- 4:49Speaker 2: together in different countries all over the world. We're super isolated.
- 4:52Speaker 2: It's like you really need to get along with the
- 4:53Speaker 2: person you're spending all this time with and also like
- 4:56Speaker 2: trust them, Like I am not somebody who wants to
- 4:58Speaker 2: do everything. That's like for sure, I know I need
- 5:01Speaker 2: somebody who's like kind of a bossy pants. And I
- 5:02Speaker 2: think finding the balance of someone you get along with
- 5:05Speaker 2: who also can help run your life and also very
- 5:08Speaker 2: chill and when you're spiraling out, like help you. It's
- 5:11Speaker 2: such a tough balance to expect someone to be able
- 5:13Speaker 2: to do all those things. And I didn't when I
- 5:14Speaker 2: met Amelia, but and then she filled all these boxes
- 5:16Speaker 2: I didn't know I had.
- 5:17Speaker 3: Yeah, there's a lot that goes into it, and it
- 5:19Speaker 3: really is like any other relationship in your life.
- 5:22Speaker 4: It's a friendship. It's like dating someone.
- 5:25Speaker 3: I say this all the time on every episode is
- 5:29Speaker 3: quite literally like dating. It to be so compatible on
- 5:31Speaker 3: all these other levels, your communication style has to be
- 5:33Speaker 3: the same. But I think the note you hit on
- 5:37Speaker 3: you going into it being like I'm not going to
- 5:39Speaker 3: be your friend.
- 5:40Speaker 4: I always say, you go into it like.
- 5:43Speaker 3: You are a friendly professional and not a professional friend,
- 5:46Speaker 3: and the friendship comes naturally. Yeah, and that's always something
- 5:49Speaker 3: to consider. I mean, there are so many candidates who
- 5:54Speaker 3: I think are that you can sniff out pretty easily,
- 5:57Speaker 3: who just want to work for the name, right, and.
- 5:59Speaker 4: They are more interested in that side.
- 6:01Speaker 3: But when you find the right person who doesn't care
- 6:05Speaker 3: and just wants to do the work, then they always
- 6:09Speaker 3: end up being friends with their boss anyways, regardless, but
- 6:12Speaker 3: with a boundary of course. And I think that especially
- 6:15Speaker 3: when you're traveling or on set, like you're spending so
- 6:17Speaker 3: much time with this person, and of course you're going
- 6:20Speaker 3: to bond and have fun moments, but there also do
- 6:22Speaker 3: have to be boundaries.
- 6:23Speaker 4: Yeah, so you guys were just abroad.
- 6:25Speaker 2: Yeah, we were far away, okay, Yeah.
- 6:27Speaker 3: And this was your first So I think Amelia, you
- 6:30Speaker 3: are a rare case of someone who graduates and then
- 6:32Speaker 3: goes straight into an actor assistant role. We don't typically
- 6:36Speaker 3: place younger folks who haven't worked on a movie set
- 6:40Speaker 3: or haven't worked for talent before, with talent unless it
- 6:43Speaker 3: works right. So your first time on set, how was
- 6:47Speaker 3: that for you and what were maybe some challenges or
- 6:50Speaker 3: were you nervous at all having her on set, having
- 6:52Speaker 3: her never been on a movie set before.
- 6:55Speaker 2: She's probably one of the smartest people I've ever met,
- 6:57Speaker 2: so like I wasn't worried about her at all, Like
- 6:59Speaker 2: I remember when I hired her. I was shooting a
- 7:01Speaker 2: film and she was staying here and I sent her
- 7:03Speaker 2: like what the schedule looks like, what a day to
- 7:04Speaker 2: day is, is what a call she is? And I said,
- 7:06Speaker 2: study this and ask me any questions you have and
- 7:08Speaker 2: she called me the next thing. I said, to hear
- 7:09Speaker 2: my questions? What does this mean? And she figured it out?
- 7:11Speaker 2: Like I kind of just like knew after spending some
- 7:13Speaker 2: time with her, Like she can lock in anywhere and
- 7:15Speaker 2: be fine. That's why her going into law, Like it's
- 7:17Speaker 2: like it's a no brainer. Like you're almost like too
- 7:19Speaker 2: smart to be doing being my assistant, do you know
- 7:21Speaker 2: what I mean?
- 7:22Speaker 1: Also, you, I think Mad's is someone she was very
- 7:24Speaker 1: the whole our whole relationship though, it's like I want
- 7:27Speaker 1: you to learn, like I think she's a very passionate actor.
- 7:30Speaker 1: It's like I think acting is like one part of
- 7:32Speaker 1: her life. But like also she's very has a very
- 7:35Speaker 1: produce soial mindset, and it's very like passionate about everything.
- 7:39Speaker 1: So like when it came to like her social media
- 7:41Speaker 1: or her stat like everything, it's like she has an
- 7:43Speaker 1: opinion and wants you to like learn it so the
- 7:46Speaker 1: whole operation can run smoothly. So I think she was
- 7:48Speaker 1: very like educational to me, which I think maybe isn't
- 7:51Speaker 1: always the case, but like if there was ever something like,
- 7:54Speaker 1: I never felt like I couldn't ask her something, not like.
- 7:56Speaker 4: A teaching moment.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Yeah, Like I was never like, oh my god, she's
- 7:58Speaker 1: gonna think I'm still like no, like.
- 7:59Speaker 2: But also I felt like her opinion was the most
- 8:01Speaker 2: valuable in the room most of the time, because her
- 8:02Speaker 2: and I would talk about like when we were behind
- 8:04Speaker 2: closed doors. Everyone else in my life, whether it's my manager,
- 8:07Speaker 2: my agent, my stylist, my help was says, they all
- 8:09Speaker 2: have other ulterior motives that are whatever they are, that
- 8:12Speaker 2: are still for me but aren't specifically personally geared towards me.
- 8:15Speaker 2: This is the only person in my life who was
- 8:17Speaker 2: just there for me and my support, and so like
- 8:19Speaker 2: when we be in a fitting and like everyone have
- 8:21Speaker 2: their opinion that looks a melia and be like, what
- 8:22Speaker 2: do you think makes the most sense here? This is
- 8:23Speaker 2: what I like. Do you agree? And so it became
- 8:25Speaker 2: this kind of like partnership of I trust you in
- 8:27Speaker 2: a way that like I can't trust very many other
- 8:29Speaker 2: people because I know you're solely in my corner.
- 8:32Speaker 1: Right, yeah, Like there's literally no other sort of incentive
- 8:35Speaker 1: involved other than your whole life is them. So it's
- 8:38Speaker 1: like what's going to make the most sense and make
- 8:40Speaker 1: them happy? And you also hear the perspectives of everyone
- 8:42Speaker 1: else on their team. But like, yeah, in terms of
- 8:45Speaker 1: like being on set for the first time, that was
- 8:47Speaker 1: really tough.
- 8:48Speaker 2: Technically the first movie was A Strangers three Stranger three
- 8:51Speaker 2: Meanings required, but that was really short. Oh yeah, she'd
- 8:54Speaker 2: like three days on maintenance apart, and I really count that.
- 8:57Speaker 2: But we did. For the first time we ever really
- 8:59Speaker 2: were personally drove. I wanted this is how I am
- 9:02Speaker 2: remember this. I wanted we were gonna fly from Burbank
- 9:05Speaker 2: with my dog to San Francisco, and that as we
- 9:06Speaker 2: were getting to Bourbank Airport, I was like, I'm in
- 9:08Speaker 2: my cars. We just drive to San Francisco. And I
- 9:10Speaker 2: could see the panic in her eyes where she's like
- 9:12Speaker 2: she knew she couldn't say no because I wanted to
- 9:14Speaker 2: do it. I was like, sounds fun.
- 9:15Speaker 4: Let's just drive, just drive seven hours. You don't know
- 9:17Speaker 4: each other.
- 9:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:18Speaker 2: He drove seven hours with my our friend Andy, who
- 9:20Speaker 2: like also was driving. So it was fine. We worked
- 9:23Speaker 2: for a couple of days and then I was like, okay,
- 9:25Speaker 2: we have to drive back obviously, and she's like, I
- 9:26Speaker 2: think we should drive back tomorrow morning. And I was
- 9:28Speaker 2: like I want to go home right now. And so
- 9:30Speaker 2: we drove home at like ten pm and I was
- 9:32Speaker 2: like her turn to drive, and she started stobbing in
- 9:34Speaker 2: the car. I can't drive. I can't drive up to
- 9:37Speaker 2: young who.
- 9:38Speaker 4: Was driving all the time.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Yeah it was, yeah, it was. That was a tough
- 9:42Speaker 1: That was a tough day, but it was like experience.
- 9:45Speaker 1: We spent like thirteen hours of uninterrupted time to drive driving.
- 9:48Speaker 5: No.
- 9:49Speaker 1: No, I just I think she got overwhelmed. Was driving
- 9:51Speaker 1: also like that was my first time. I said, it
- 9:52Speaker 1: was crazy, and then now it's like that's nothing to
- 9:54Speaker 1: so sorry.
- 9:55Speaker 2: I did not know that before I was like, hire
- 9:57Speaker 2: this girl, how dare you No?
- 9:59Speaker 1: I just like, no, hilarious. It was just like that
- 10:02Speaker 1: being your first experience.
- 10:03Speaker 3: I was like, I kind of get it because when
- 10:05Speaker 3: I was an assistant, I used to have to drive
- 10:07Speaker 3: around my bosses for certain meetings or if I was
- 10:10Speaker 3: on set, I would drive my boss to set sometimes
- 10:13Speaker 3: or her children, and that would make me really nervous
- 10:16Speaker 3: because I consider myself a good driver. But God forbid
- 10:19Speaker 3: anything happens. I don't want that responsibility because it feels
- 10:23Speaker 3: so crazy to wrack your brain around. So I kind
- 10:26Speaker 3: of understand. It's like precious cargo. You're not like, I
- 10:29Speaker 3: don't want to be response passenger.
- 10:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean then you flashed forward to Tulsa and
- 10:33Speaker 2: this crazy person, yeah, driving me home at four am,
- 10:37Speaker 2: like dancing and behind the wheels like.
- 10:41Speaker 4: Anne videos.
- 10:42Speaker 2: There's really funny videos, so like weed and.
- 10:46Speaker 1: We made it work for sure. It's just in the beginning.
- 10:49Speaker 1: I knew nothing, Like I didn't study film either in school,
- 10:52Speaker 1: so I didn't know anything about I mean yeah, like
- 10:54Speaker 1: I didn't know anything about the industry, and so I
- 10:56Speaker 1: didn't know what like a grip was.
- 10:57Speaker 4: Well me, so you did know, well, yeah, like true,
- 11:01Speaker 4: but like.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Set stuff and things like that, like the actual like
- 11:04Speaker 1: boots on the ground stuff I did not fully grasp
- 11:07Speaker 1: and so the efforst was a little bit overwhelming. But
- 11:09Speaker 1: then everyone on her team was so amazing, and like
- 11:12Speaker 1: Trash is an amazing makeup artist who comes through most
- 11:14Speaker 1: of her stuff, and she and I would sit behind
- 11:16Speaker 1: the monitor and she would you know, be tutoring me
- 11:18Speaker 1: in the quarter and like telling me like this is
- 11:20Speaker 1: what mads might want. Like she was really kind of
- 11:22Speaker 1: teaching me stuff so Madds wouldn't have to tell me,
- 11:24Speaker 1: and we all kind of got into a groove because
- 11:26Speaker 1: then we ended up doing projects that just she and
- 11:28Speaker 1: I were on and it wasn't anyone else and so.
- 11:30Speaker 2: It definitely the time of our life.
- 11:32Speaker 1: Yeah, and it was so fun. But yeah, it's a lot,
- 11:34Speaker 1: Like that's just a lot. It's just part of this.
- 11:36Speaker 2: It's just different.
- 11:37Speaker 3: Yeah, But it's good to know that you were able
- 11:39Speaker 3: to sort of have people around you who invested in
- 11:42Speaker 3: your well being on set and had all these teaching
- 11:44Speaker 3: moments for you, because a lot of clients will say, well,
- 11:47Speaker 3: I don't want to hire this person unless they've been
- 11:48Speaker 3: on a movie set before. I had never been on
- 11:50Speaker 3: a movie set either when I started with Jen, but
- 11:52Speaker 3: I learned quickly and now we actually have a guide
- 11:55Speaker 3: that we give candidates. It says, oh, this is that's
- 11:57Speaker 3: how we survive a movie set, and this is what
- 11:59Speaker 3: you do, and these are all the people that you
- 12:01Speaker 3: need to make group text with and these are all
- 12:02Speaker 3: the questions to be asking that.
- 12:05Speaker 2: I guess, I absolutely wow. I mean she's already been
- 12:08Speaker 2: on site. Yes, yeah, I think. Uh, it's it's for me,
- 12:15Speaker 2: like I have no problem teaching somebody anything because I
- 12:18Speaker 2: can't expect somebody to know everything. I just want them
- 12:19Speaker 2: to be willing and excited to learn. That's like all
- 12:21Speaker 2: I really ask. Somebody could like come in and have
- 12:24Speaker 2: no assistant experience and experience whatsoever, but be excited and passionate,
- 12:27Speaker 2: like and I'm excited to help them and be passionate
- 12:29Speaker 2: with them because I'm such a passion driven person that
- 12:31Speaker 2: if someone else is passionate about what I'm doing, it's
- 12:33Speaker 2: all like that makes me happy. That's genuinely like, that's
- 12:36Speaker 2: the bar.
- 12:37Speaker 4: I think that's a good bar.
- 12:38Speaker 3: And especially if it's someone who you get along with,
- 12:40Speaker 3: who you vibe with, who you feel safe with. Of
- 12:42Speaker 3: course you're going to continue to have teaching moments and
- 12:44Speaker 3: invest in her as your employee and be okay with
- 12:47Speaker 3: her asking questions, like you'd rather have her ask the
- 12:50Speaker 3: questions anyways.
- 12:50Speaker 5: Absolutely, so yeah, yeah, but I just remember when I
- 12:54Speaker 5: first met you and you were still with Jen, and
- 12:58Speaker 5: like one of the biggest things you told me was
- 13:00Speaker 5: communication and how that's so important.
- 13:01Speaker 1: And I think it's so easy to be like, yeah, yeah, whatever,
- 13:04Speaker 1: but I think it is so important and you don't
- 13:05Speaker 1: realize it until you're in a job like this totally
- 13:08Speaker 1: or there's an unusual amount of communication that you have
- 13:10Speaker 1: to have with this person because you are like a
- 13:12Speaker 1: team of one and there's no like, there's no one
- 13:14Speaker 1: you can really riff things off of. What it's like
- 13:16Speaker 1: literally just them. You have to go to them. Yeah,
- 13:19Speaker 1: it's not a useful relationship if you don't feel like
- 13:21Speaker 1: both of you can address anything anything, because it's just
- 13:25Speaker 1: it ends up being like so ineffective.
- 13:27Speaker 2: And it got to a point where like our communication
- 13:30Speaker 2: was so good that my manager would call her and
- 13:31Speaker 2: be like, do you want to tell Mads this thing?
- 13:35Speaker 2: And then she'd walk in and be like hey.
- 13:38Speaker 1: And I'm like, what's going on with her or like yeah,
- 13:40Speaker 1: it was just easier sometimes to just like go through
- 13:42Speaker 1: me or like if we were And that's one thing
- 13:44Speaker 1: about this job. I think being a good assistant is
- 13:47Speaker 1: like developing good relationships with their team is the biggest thing.
- 13:50Speaker 1: But when we were on the last project we were
- 13:53Speaker 1: on Mads like wasn't she hadn't talked to her manager
- 13:57Speaker 1: in like five days, and she was like, have you
- 13:59Speaker 1: heard from to Like I have you heard? But yeah,
- 14:00Speaker 1: We've been talking every day for like two hours. And
- 14:02Speaker 1: she's like, oh, like I had no idea.
- 14:03Speaker 2: I'm like, yeah, she didn't. I figured she wasn't checking
- 14:05Speaker 2: in on me, and I was like she hates me
- 14:07Speaker 2: and me and Whiles was talking to Amelia on the phone,
- 14:08Speaker 2: checking and making sure everything's okay, and that's like that's.
- 14:11Speaker 4: Something you don't have to worry. Yeah, that's the thing.
- 14:13Speaker 2: Is like I got to a point and like I
- 14:15Speaker 2: wish this for everybody who has an assistant, and I
- 14:17Speaker 2: wish this for myself in the future now that I
- 14:18Speaker 2: don't have Amelia. That like that level of like seamlessness
- 14:22Speaker 2: is what like having a good assistant really means. Like
- 14:25Speaker 2: I got to a point where like I didn't have
- 14:26Speaker 2: to think of things like I remember one day I
- 14:28Speaker 2: looked up in my light bulbs around on this very
- 14:29Speaker 2: specific lamp I had, and I was like, oh, we
- 14:31Speaker 2: should she goes already with them. They're coming today. It's
- 14:33Speaker 2: like not even nice, do you know what I mean? Yeah, yeah,
- 14:36Speaker 2: before I even noticed the through out they were ordered
- 14:38Speaker 2: like a week ago.
- 14:39Speaker 1: You're so good. Well, so you were always a backstocker.
- 14:42Speaker 1: You always have backstock of everything. I remember there would
- 14:45Speaker 1: be stuff like Jen would be like Megan like worth
- 14:47Speaker 1: and you'd be like hold on and you'd have in
- 14:48Speaker 1: your purse and I was like, yeah, yes, she always
- 14:50Speaker 1: had everything.
- 14:52Speaker 4: That's okay. Assistant backpack.
- 14:53Speaker 3: This is what I tell everyone to have a backpack
- 14:56Speaker 3: on you because when you're in crazy locations on set
- 14:58Speaker 3: where I know you were also have been in Crea.
- 15:00Speaker 3: Yeah there's no American cvs, there's no farm.
- 15:03Speaker 2: Says see this girl's pharmaceutical back she brings for me.
- 15:06Speaker 4: I'm so proud of you for having.
- 15:07Speaker 1: And that was also from you because I had to
- 15:09Speaker 1: make one for you once. Yes, when and I have
- 15:11Speaker 1: a whole list of all the things and like we
- 15:14Speaker 1: both take like random weird specific like supplements and stuff,
- 15:16Speaker 1: and so it's like, all, I just have a bag
- 15:18Speaker 1: that's like both of our stuff basically. So I'm like
- 15:20Speaker 1: if I need anything, she needs anything, anyone we're with
- 15:23Speaker 1: needs anything. You want to be the person that they happens.
- 15:26Speaker 2: Yes, yes, Oh my gosh, I'm.
- 15:28Speaker 1: So proud of it, and I'm mortified when I don't
- 15:29Speaker 1: have it.
- 15:30Speaker 2: Oh my god, I get So she's really like, do you.
- 15:33Speaker 1: Have a safety pin?
- 15:34Speaker 2: I'm like, shit, I forgot to like restock them or
- 15:36Speaker 2: like whatever. Like it's just like no one cares. But
- 15:37Speaker 2: she's like actually over their panic again. Like this she
- 15:40Speaker 2: just started like picking up on things that I historically do,
- 15:42Speaker 2: Like I lose my jewely all the time. If I
- 15:43Speaker 2: takes if I take a piece of jowey off and
- 15:45Speaker 2: put it somewhere random in my house, I will one
- 15:47Speaker 2: minutes later be like, did you see where I put
- 15:49Speaker 2: my ring? And she's like, yeah, that's right here I
- 15:50Speaker 2: put in this. So it's like she just like stort
- 15:52Speaker 2: of noticing what I was doing all the time and
- 15:54Speaker 2: just like filling in those little gaps. Yeah, because I
- 15:56Speaker 2: can be a little and.
- 15:57Speaker 1: That's yeah, likes finding things I would say, I mean
- 16:00Speaker 1: we were always bringing our weird little things to set,
- 16:02Speaker 1: like you know.
- 16:03Speaker 2: We have like a little set king, a.
- 16:06Speaker 1: Red light mask, like all that stuff.
- 16:07Speaker 2: I know, I come with like a full like I
- 16:09Speaker 2: feel like I can be happy anywhere as long as
- 16:11Speaker 2: I have my creature comforts. So it's like I need
- 16:13Speaker 2: to have my red light. I need to have like
- 16:15Speaker 2: some sort of lymphatic like circulation plate or a cheese swing,
- 16:19Speaker 2: like there's a certain things. She actually got me got
- 16:22Speaker 2: into a fight when we want our last movie because
- 16:24Speaker 2: she's like, we can't pack this and I was like,
- 16:25Speaker 2: we're packing it.
- 16:26Speaker 1: She was like, you need to fit into the suitcase,
- 16:28Speaker 1: like it's not going to fit. And guess was like it.
- 16:29Speaker 2: Did fit and it made it to Serbia.
- 16:31Speaker 4: So yeah, that's incredible.
- 16:33Speaker 1: But it's just like random stuff like that. I just yeah,
- 16:36Speaker 1: you want to be prepared also when you're on set
- 16:38Speaker 1: or anywhere. Like press tour is a good example too,
- 16:41Speaker 1: because I think that's even crazier than set in terms
- 16:43Speaker 1: of like the packing repacking, Like you're just because it's.
- 16:45Speaker 4: Like you're on a plane every other day and it's
- 16:47Speaker 4: just you have to have that.
- 16:48Speaker 1: Yeah, so we just have like I had to go
- 16:50Speaker 1: to like start of the suitcase or and then we
- 16:52Speaker 1: just kind of switch out with you'd pack. But it
- 16:54Speaker 1: was just like you want to have just a very
- 16:57Speaker 1: straightforward list of what exactly that you need, even the weirdest,
- 17:01Speaker 1: most random things, because when you're there, it's the last
- 17:04Speaker 1: thing you want to think about, like I need to
- 17:05Speaker 1: run to wherever.
- 17:06Speaker 3: Totally like it's not And you've got these lists typed
- 17:09Speaker 3: up for our next scalia.
- 17:10Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I know. She's probably made like a full
- 17:12Speaker 2: ass like twenty five page manual. Fantastic, I'm sure.
- 17:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:17Speaker 3: So now that you're transitioning out, what does this process
- 17:19Speaker 3: look like for you? How have you been preparing your
- 17:21Speaker 3: last day is when.
- 17:22Speaker 4: I mean it already happened, if you're already done, yes,
- 17:25Speaker 4: oh my gosh, wow, I know.
- 17:27Speaker 2: And then the sweet thing is still like responding to
- 17:28Speaker 2: text and helping me because she did. My new assistant
- 17:30Speaker 2: doesn't arrive till tomorrow.
- 17:31Speaker 1: Yeah. But I think in terms of transition, like you,
- 17:35Speaker 1: I think you have to be still available like kind
- 17:37Speaker 1: of because things take time obviously, and you have random
- 17:41Speaker 1: passwords and things like that. I think having a Bible
- 17:45Speaker 1: is like the most important thing of every vendor that
- 17:47Speaker 1: they use every appointment, phone number, address everything, passwords. But
- 17:52Speaker 1: also just like she and I sat on the phone
- 17:53Speaker 1: for a few hours, I also like knew her before
- 17:55Speaker 1: this a bit, so I knew about like her working
- 17:58Speaker 1: dynamic and everything, but just chatting for a long time
- 18:01Speaker 1: about like any questions and just being super open and
- 18:03Speaker 1: honest and just trying and giving them access obviously to
- 18:08Speaker 1: like the email and the calendar, because that's a really
- 18:11Speaker 1: huge part of the job, is knowing how like you
- 18:13Speaker 1: speak to their team and how you do their calendar.
- 18:16Speaker 1: Because obviously, like the personal stuff you pick up on
- 18:19Speaker 1: with time, right when you're physically there, but the admin
- 18:22Speaker 1: stuff like you kind of got to pick up on quickly.
- 18:24Speaker 3: Because things knowing who to go on the team to
- 18:26Speaker 3: ask for certain things, or the command dealing with a
- 18:29Speaker 3: manager and an agent and a publicist.
- 18:32Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly, And like if you don't some people, I
- 18:34Speaker 1: think some assistants that have like desk experience and stuff
- 18:37Speaker 1: can pick up on that really quick because they've been
- 18:39Speaker 1: doing it and then other times not. And so we've
- 18:42Speaker 1: just been kind of chatting about that. But it's definitely
- 18:45Speaker 1: the transition ideally is easy when the person is similar
- 18:49Speaker 1: to the person that was there before, or they like
- 18:52Speaker 1: fill the gaps of whatever that person might have had,
- 18:54Speaker 1: or vice versa. I think for us, like a big
- 18:56Speaker 1: thing for her where she's like, I just want someone
- 18:58Speaker 1: that like operates a similar to you.
- 19:00Speaker 4: She told me to find you, Yeah, Amelia.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Yeah, But I think sometimes like they're like, I want
- 19:05Speaker 1: someone that's completely different, and this is why and whatever.
- 19:07Speaker 2: Just secretly I texted Megan that actually, yeah, well I
- 19:11Speaker 2: said I want somebody completely different. You know, I probably
- 19:15Speaker 2: like texted Megan like a hundred crying emojis at the time.
- 19:18Speaker 1: I know, I know.
- 19:19Speaker 4: It's so it's such a it's hard when it's two
- 19:22Speaker 4: years is a long time.
- 19:23Speaker 2: It's like the perfect amount of time. And by no
- 19:24Speaker 2: means do I think Amelia should dedicate any more of
- 19:26Speaker 2: her life to me? But my god, am I going
- 19:28Speaker 2: to miss her? Do you know what I mean? It's
- 19:29Speaker 2: just like that.
- 19:31Speaker 3: No one wants a new assistant, period. It's it's it's
- 19:33Speaker 3: so intimate, and the last thing you want to do,
- 19:36Speaker 3: truly is transition to someone in. But you had a
- 19:39Speaker 3: pre existing relationship with your new.
- 19:40Speaker 4: Assistant, which is fantastic. Yeah, so you already have a
- 19:44Speaker 4: vibe with her. You already trust her.
- 19:46Speaker 2: She's already been on set with us for like a
- 19:47Speaker 2: whole month, which is really wonderful.
- 19:49Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 19:50Speaker 1: Yeah, she and she watched all we were all there together,
- 19:52Speaker 1: and so she was able to get the dynamic watch it.
- 19:56Speaker 2: And like the most important thing I think for me
- 19:58Speaker 2: that we kind of discovered through the of your process
- 20:00Speaker 2: that we did in this most recent kind of run
- 20:02Speaker 2: is like I hate to say I'm all about vibe
- 20:04Speaker 2: because that sounds so like bit, but I am kind
- 20:06Speaker 2: of all about vibe. Like it's about the way somebody
- 20:08Speaker 2: like makes me feel when I'm sitting next to them,
- 20:11Speaker 2: Like are you making me more anxious? Are you making
- 20:12Speaker 2: me feel calm? Like are you here, are you commanding
- 20:14Speaker 2: the room? Are you taking control? Or are you not
- 20:16Speaker 2: taking control? And I think that's where some people don't
- 20:19Speaker 2: want somebody who has full autonomy. I need somebody who's
- 20:21Speaker 2: full autonomy in their position, Like I want you to
- 20:23Speaker 2: sit there and tell me how you're gonna make my
- 20:24Speaker 2: life better. And like that's what Amelia did when I
- 20:26Speaker 2: met her, and that's kind of what I was looking
- 20:28Speaker 2: for in this round. Is just kind of like the
- 20:30Speaker 2: energy of the person across from me, Do I think
- 20:32Speaker 2: you're going to actually make my life easier or are
- 20:35Speaker 2: you going to take the Also, set can be really tough.
- 20:37Speaker 2: The hours are crazy, and they can kill some people,
- 20:39Speaker 2: and it's like, I don't I don't want somebody who's
- 20:42Speaker 2: gonna be emotional and crying on set. I want someone
- 20:44Speaker 2: to me peeing their pants on.
- 20:45Speaker 1: So, yeah, that's the story to do your hands on ass.
- 20:50Speaker 2: Well, that was something you're really thank you.
- 20:53Speaker 4: Really funniest thing that's ever happened.
- 20:55Speaker 3: Ye.
- 20:56Speaker 2: Yeah, So I was shooting this from one of many
- 20:58Speaker 2: so I had to do a scene where I was
- 20:59Speaker 2: killing somebody, which takes you to a very dark place.
- 21:02Speaker 2: And it was like probably hour seventeen of shooting and
- 21:05Speaker 2: we had started at three pm and it was like
- 21:07Speaker 2: eleven am the next day, Like we were like fully,
- 21:09Speaker 2: but we're in a closed box from a warehouse. You
- 21:12Speaker 2: don't know what time it is outside. You just know
- 21:13Speaker 2: it's eleven am on your phone. I've just killed somebody
- 21:16Speaker 2: in the scene, like over and over and I'm like
- 21:19Speaker 2: bashing their head in and you'd like get to this
- 21:20Speaker 2: really dark place to get there, and then I'd like
- 21:22Speaker 2: be emotionally drained in the scene after that, and so
- 21:25Speaker 2: I like go back into my like little creepy holding
- 21:28Speaker 2: room which is teeny weeny, and I'm sitting there. It's
- 21:30Speaker 2: it's like a mini shipping container. There's photos of it.
- 21:32Speaker 2: I'm like laying on someone's fucking desk and I go
- 21:36Speaker 2: in there and I start having a panic attack because
- 21:38Speaker 2: like to get to a place like that, at that
- 21:40Speaker 2: little sleep I just like I was. It was a
- 21:41Speaker 2: dark place, so I have to have a panic attack.
- 21:43Speaker 2: And then like this is a good point of like
- 21:44Speaker 2: who an assistant needs to be. She walks into you,
- 21:46Speaker 2: a copy, walks back out. People are trying to knock
- 21:48Speaker 2: on my door, and she's just like no, sorry, no,
- 21:50Speaker 2: she's not available right now. No, And she like knows
- 21:52Speaker 2: like at a certain point, I have to be, but
- 21:54Speaker 2: she also knows how to protect me from like people
- 21:56Speaker 2: don't need to I can have five minutes. I've been
- 21:58Speaker 2: on set all day, so she was protecting me for
- 22:00Speaker 2: a minute. And then my producer who I work with
- 22:03Speaker 2: all the time, was like, what what is going on?
- 22:05Speaker 2: She was just having a panic attack, Like just give
- 22:06Speaker 2: her a second. She's been on set for seventeen hours,
- 22:08Speaker 2: and he goes, Okay, she's got five minutes. And then
- 22:10Speaker 2: she opens the door and she looks at me and
- 22:13Speaker 2: like I must have looked ridiculous, right, like I've got
- 22:15Speaker 2: blood all over my face. I'm like, I like, you know,
- 22:17Speaker 2: I'm crying. I've murd somebody. And then she looks at me.
- 22:20Speaker 2: She starts busting out laughing, and she's like, you have
- 22:23Speaker 2: five minutes. And then she's crossing her legs and she
- 22:25Speaker 2: does this thing where she's like crossing her legs trying
- 22:27Speaker 2: to hold her like doors wide open, CRUs all behind her, and.
- 22:28Speaker 4: She's trust pressing her pants.
- 22:30Speaker 2: Yeah, like the producer entire crow just being her pants
- 22:32Speaker 2: laughing because I looked so crazy.
- 22:34Speaker 1: The second ad who I just like yelled at being
- 22:36Speaker 1: like she needs five more minutes, and then I just
- 22:37Speaker 1: gave my hands them. That is unbelievable, hysterically laughing, like
- 22:42Speaker 1: the village is literally right outside her her room, like
- 22:46Speaker 1: everyone's sitting there watching me.
- 22:47Speaker 4: I'm sure they also got that on camera.
- 22:50Speaker 1: No, yeah, but they were all just like everyone was
- 22:54Speaker 1: right out honestly.
- 22:55Speaker 2: Like that's the kind of vibe you need, though, because
- 22:57Speaker 2: like it made me take It took me right out
- 22:59Speaker 2: of what I was going through. I was like this
- 23:00Speaker 2: is ridiculous, Like I'm a pea on the floor later
- 23:05Speaker 2: and doing that much.
- 23:06Speaker 1: But yeah, it was I had to like go change
- 23:10Speaker 1: because I especially like I will forget to pee and
- 23:14Speaker 1: then I just like and if I laughed so hard,
- 23:16Speaker 1: I peed my hands multiple times in our relationships and
- 23:18Speaker 1: our relationship to Peter pants multiple like in our laugh
- 23:22Speaker 1: because I'm so funny. She wasn't there, but I my
- 23:24Speaker 1: pants when that made me really mad pissed that she
- 23:27Speaker 1: didn't get to see it.
- 23:28Speaker 2: For I can't believe you that this is a recurring.
- 23:31Speaker 2: There are two things that literally cannot do without me.
- 23:33Speaker 2: It's peer pants from laughing and eat weird things. I
- 23:37Speaker 2: love when she eats for food. That's another big part
- 23:39Speaker 2: of she'll try anything. She'll try anything anything.
- 23:43Speaker 1: Yeah, and so like she limits her food her palette obviously,
- 23:47Speaker 1: but I'm curious and she wants to know what things
- 23:49Speaker 1: taste like.
- 23:49Speaker 2: So I try this something it tastes like like meat
- 23:52Speaker 2: or just just like random, like if we're like in
- 23:54Speaker 2: this a beautiful place where they had like a specific dish,
- 23:56Speaker 2: so like.
- 23:57Speaker 3: Filming somewhere wild, you're the first one to be yes,
- 24:00Speaker 3: eat that craft ye, or like you know you like
- 24:02Speaker 3: you would go to hotels and they bring you the
- 24:03Speaker 3: spread of all the stuff on your thing, like when
- 24:05Speaker 3: you like welcome, sell it's.
- 24:06Speaker 1: Out, and they give you all those crazy desires eat
- 24:09Speaker 1: all of them, like.
- 24:10Speaker 2: Can you try one of each and tell you what
- 24:11Speaker 2: they taste? Like it's like period, it's like four am.
- 24:14Speaker 1: We like just landed. I'm like yeah whatever, and so that,
- 24:17Speaker 1: or like when we would go, yeah, like to restaurants
- 24:19Speaker 1: and they have like tasting menus or whatever. She's like
- 24:21Speaker 1: try it and they'll try Tulsa like that.
- 24:24Speaker 2: There was so much fun with you.
- 24:26Speaker 1: We had so much fun in Oklahoma.
- 24:28Speaker 4: And you're not worried about like stomach. You're just like
- 24:30Speaker 4: I'm sure, yeah, I love that for you.
- 24:32Speaker 1: I mean, I'm so my son's gonna hurt no matter what.
- 24:34Speaker 1: I yeah, So I'm just like whatever. And we Yeah,
- 24:38Speaker 1: we went to Sonic and tried the pickle Rita.
- 24:41Speaker 2: We tried the Picklida. She took the pickla.
- 24:43Speaker 4: You gotta pay me a lot of money to try
- 24:45Speaker 4: a pickle rita.
- 24:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:46Speaker 2: She was just kinda like yeah, whatever, Like we were
- 24:47Speaker 2: born in Tulsa, Like what are you going to do
- 24:49Speaker 2: in Tulsa other than like I went to a strip
- 24:50Speaker 2: club a couple of times I was working in and
- 24:52Speaker 2: that's it.
- 24:52Speaker 1: We would like leave set to go to Zaxby's that
- 24:54Speaker 1: tried chicken place.
- 24:55Speaker 2: And like I don't eat my chicken, but she but
- 24:58Speaker 2: it was fun for me.
- 25:00Speaker 1: Break I'm like, let's go to Zaxi's and so I
- 25:02Speaker 1: try to an entertainment.
- 25:03Speaker 4: Yeah, my god.
- 25:04Speaker 2: Yeah. I think it's like it's it's a high bar
- 25:06Speaker 2: because it's like I've never expected somebody to like be
- 25:08Speaker 2: so much fun to be around, but like set is
- 25:11Speaker 2: and can be a tough place because I am so producorial,
- 25:14Speaker 2: so I take on a lot, especially when I am producing,
- 25:17Speaker 2: and I think having somebody who like understands that and
- 25:19Speaker 2: can support that, but then also can like show me
- 25:21Speaker 2: that it's not that serious, which is what she did
- 25:23Speaker 2: most of the time, is so nice, like in such
- 25:26Speaker 2: an addition that I don't necessarily need, but like really appreciate.
- 25:29Speaker 3: I think what you said before really hit about how
- 25:32Speaker 3: you get into these really intense modes when you're on set.
- 25:35Speaker 3: I mean, I can't imagine the headspace I would have
- 25:39Speaker 3: to be in to go on to set and kill
- 25:41Speaker 3: someone and then come out of it.
- 25:42Speaker 2: And be like Hi, guys.
- 25:45Speaker 3: Yeah, Like that's so intense to switch on and off
- 25:47Speaker 3: and to have an assistant who understands the prep, the state,
- 25:52Speaker 3: the flow that you're in and then to a know
- 25:57Speaker 3: when she needs to protect you from people and give
- 25:59Speaker 3: you an extra five minutes or be no one to
- 26:03Speaker 3: crack a joke at the end of the day when
- 26:05Speaker 3: you're when you're looking like you need a joke, or hey,
- 26:08Speaker 3: you've had a long day, can I have a messuse
- 26:10Speaker 3: at home for you? Like knowing those cues and just
- 26:13Speaker 3: like you said, with the light bulbs, being ahead and
- 26:16Speaker 3: just being able to really read you and know you
- 26:18Speaker 3: so well, that's really difficult.
- 26:21Speaker 1: So well, there's also days two where it's like obviously
- 26:24Speaker 1: you're with the person every day, but sometimes there's days
- 26:27Speaker 1: where it's like we're not going to work today, Whereason's
- 26:30Speaker 1: it's like Mads wants to be alone day. And then
- 26:32Speaker 1: it's like all right, I'll see you in a couple
- 26:33Speaker 1: of days, or it's like let's just go like.
- 26:35Speaker 2: Stuff around, get them, get me out of the house.
- 26:38Speaker 2: I've been seeing to any scripts like.
- 26:39Speaker 1: Let's go walk the reservoir, just like talk about not
- 26:42Speaker 1: work for a bit. And just having someone that's like
- 26:44Speaker 1: completely like knows every aspect of your life so can
- 26:48Speaker 1: understand it. I think it's hard too. It's like, obviously
- 26:51Speaker 1: it's hard to talk about that stuff with someone who
- 26:53Speaker 1: isn't fully there or isn't with you every single day
- 26:55Speaker 1: and sees all of it. And so I think that's
- 26:59Speaker 1: like finding that balance between work and.
- 27:01Speaker 2: I'm like, honestly friendship.
- 27:03Speaker 4: Yeah, totally in friendship for sure.
- 27:05Speaker 3: What has been maybe like a difficult thing to navigate
- 27:09Speaker 3: the boundary.
- 27:10Speaker 2: Or her leaving me, Yeah, has been difficult for me
- 27:13Speaker 2: to navigate.
- 27:14Speaker 1: Yeah, that's that's svlid. I think I wouldn't say the
- 27:17Speaker 1: boundary because I actually think we've done a good job
- 27:20Speaker 1: of that. Like I think I we talk to each
- 27:22Speaker 1: other about our lives like very much, like we both
- 27:24Speaker 1: know like everything that's going on in each other's lives.
- 27:26Speaker 1: But at the same time, like and I remember, I
- 27:28Speaker 1: think it was also you who taught me this. You
- 27:30Speaker 1: were like, if you know their friends are coming over,
- 27:33Speaker 1: for example, and it's the end of the work day,
- 27:35Speaker 1: it's like all right, like you're gone, I'm gonna head out. Yeah,
- 27:38Speaker 1: like love you guys, and I love all her friends.
- 27:39Speaker 1: Are amazing, the best. Yeah, but it's like you know
- 27:42Speaker 1: things like that where it's like you know the right
- 27:44Speaker 1: time where it's like or I'm gonna go like live
- 27:47Speaker 1: my life and do my thing, yes and have my
- 27:49Speaker 1: own relationships. And the hard times sometimes are when you
- 27:53Speaker 1: just like both want to be alone and like you
- 27:57Speaker 1: can't because you're in a situation where like you're working
- 27:59Speaker 1: these crazy hours or you're with them on a trip.
- 28:01Speaker 1: But sometimes you're like like living in a house together,
- 28:04Speaker 1: sometimes you just you don't want like you just don't
- 28:06Speaker 1: want to be with anyone.
- 28:08Speaker 3: And it's not personal to the other person. It's just
- 28:10Speaker 3: you need a minute, and sometimes you can't take the minute.
- 28:12Speaker 2: Because usually you have like weekends off on jobs, but
- 28:13Speaker 2: like when you're shooting somewhere like Oklahoma and you live
- 28:15Speaker 2: in a house together, like there's no weekend off, right,
- 28:17Speaker 2: You're just like there.
- 28:18Speaker 1: Yeah, right, And I think sometimes you just especially when
- 28:21Speaker 1: you I feel like with you, it's like when you're
- 28:23Speaker 1: on set, you're being touched, looked at, filmed like everything
- 28:25Speaker 1: all day. Sometimes you just want to like be alone
- 28:28Speaker 1: in your room and then it's like you have this
- 28:30Speaker 1: other like it's just that type of stuff that's not
- 28:32Speaker 1: normal with like a traditional.
- 28:34Speaker 2: Resetting time basically, which I think is for everyone.
- 28:36Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 28:37Speaker 3: I do think also what you said earlier about her
- 28:41Speaker 3: being in a glam chair and then there being people
- 28:44Speaker 3: in the room and people deciding, oh, it's five am,
- 28:47Speaker 3: now I'm going to talk about my weekend. That's also
- 28:50Speaker 3: really important knowing Listen, we we we would love to
- 28:54Speaker 3: hear about your weekend, but not at five am.
- 28:56Speaker 2: So just knowing so good at managing the room, I
- 28:58Speaker 2: think like that's something that that's a quality that I
- 29:00Speaker 2: really need is somebody who like when we were on
- 29:03Speaker 2: our last movie, I had a really hard day for
- 29:06Speaker 2: like just a lot of reasons because there it was,
- 29:09Speaker 2: it was a tough film, and I was in my
- 29:11Speaker 2: trailer and she can just like read my energy and
- 29:13Speaker 2: she knew like I actually needed nobody to bother me
- 29:15Speaker 2: with anything. So then like a bunch of people kept
- 29:17Speaker 2: coming in with all these issues and she was like,
- 29:18Speaker 2: I'm gonna take this outside and deal with it all
- 29:20Speaker 2: and not even tell you what's going on until like
- 29:22Speaker 2: at the end of the day.
- 29:23Speaker 1: Yeah, like she was. It wasn't usually like you're inside
- 29:25Speaker 1: the trailer with them. Other guy, I wasn't even here.
- 29:26Speaker 1: I was like, you're literally gonna be alone with your
- 29:28Speaker 1: makeup artists. Not a soul needs to be in there today. Yeah,
- 29:31Speaker 1: and just I'm just gonna.
- 29:32Speaker 2: I didn't have to say those kinds of things, So
- 29:33Speaker 2: I wasn't like I had to be like, hey, I'm
- 29:35Speaker 2: going through this thing. It's like she just knows me
- 29:36Speaker 2: so well that she's like, I can see that there's
- 29:38Speaker 2: fifteen people asking you for things that don't have anything
- 29:40Speaker 2: to do with your job. Right now, I'm gonna take
- 29:42Speaker 2: your phone away so people who aren't here can't like
- 29:44Speaker 2: get access to you. And I'm gonna let you do
- 29:46Speaker 2: the job that you're here for and I'm gonna handle
- 29:47Speaker 2: everything else.
- 29:48Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that's It's like that's also why you're
- 29:51Speaker 1: there on set. It's like obviously supporting them as part
- 29:53Speaker 1: of it, but it's also like they're behind the camera
- 29:55Speaker 1: for so much of the day, and so it's like
- 29:57Speaker 1: you got to fill those days by being the person
- 29:59Speaker 1: that the producer can come to, everyone can come to costumes, like,
- 30:02Speaker 1: so they're not like poking and prodding at the actor.
- 30:05Speaker 1: I think that's like a really big thing is like
- 30:09Speaker 1: not sitting in the trailer and just like chilling while
- 30:11Speaker 1: they're on set. Like I think actually like physically being
- 30:13Speaker 1: there was really huge for us. But yeah, like that,
- 30:17Speaker 1: those days are definitely where you have to like take
- 30:20Speaker 1: charge and excuse yourself too. Like there are times too
- 30:24Speaker 1: where I've caught myself where I'm like, oh shit, like
- 30:26Speaker 1: I'm gonna stop talking, like you know, it's just like
- 30:29Speaker 1: it's like you just can you got to read the room. Yeah,
- 30:32Speaker 1: And especially like press towards are good examples, because those
- 30:35Speaker 1: are also like it's just glam and there's people eight
- 30:38Speaker 1: million journeys coming in and talking, and then it's like
- 30:41Speaker 1: sometimes the lunch break, it's like we're gonna lock ourselves
- 30:43Speaker 1: in this green room and literally not say a word
- 30:45Speaker 1: to each other or to anyone. Yeah, and just like
- 30:48Speaker 1: sit on our phones and have quiet time.
- 30:50Speaker 3: Well, you clearly have very good social cues because a
- 30:52Speaker 3: lot of people can't pick it up.
- 30:53Speaker 4: As quickly as you do, yeah, or have in the past.
- 30:56Speaker 3: Especially for you to be in the room where you're
- 30:59Speaker 3: observing all this and then to be able to jump
- 31:01Speaker 3: in and say or change the subject.
- 31:03Speaker 4: I got chugerfish, guys, I've peed my pants.
- 31:05Speaker 1: Now I'm like the craziest thing happened this week, my
- 31:09Speaker 1: friend said, the weirdest thing like anything, it's like we'll
- 31:12Speaker 1: just fill the time, but like, yeah, and I think
- 31:15Speaker 1: we've obviously like like found a groove with that. But yeah,
- 31:17Speaker 1: there are some times I think that's also so important,
- 31:20Speaker 1: Like is having a relationship with like your assistant boss,
- 31:24Speaker 1: everyone that's like very open and it's not personal where
- 31:27Speaker 1: it's like there are days where it's like they don't
- 31:30Speaker 1: want to like see you and speak to you, like
- 31:31Speaker 1: they just don't like especially like sometimes I'm like I
- 31:35Speaker 1: have to tell her. I'm like, you are gonna hate
- 31:36Speaker 1: me for what I'm about to tell you, but like
- 31:38Speaker 1: you need to do X, Y and Z because of whatever.
- 31:40Speaker 1: And she's like I literally like don't want to look
- 31:42Speaker 1: at you right now, like and just having that like
- 31:45Speaker 1: openness is really important because in respect, yeah, I don't
- 31:48Speaker 1: want to feel like afraid or anxious where you're like,
- 31:51Speaker 1: I know this is annoying, Like I know that we
- 31:53Speaker 1: don't want to sit and do this tape right now
- 31:55Speaker 1: on a Friday night, but like we've got to do
- 31:56Speaker 1: it right because it's due whatever. Like things, I think the.
- 31:59Speaker 3: Way you deliver that information though, to Madaline saying, Hey,
- 32:02Speaker 3: I know this is annoying.
- 32:03Speaker 4: We gotta do this.
- 32:04Speaker 3: You being that assertive but bringing levity into it and
- 32:09Speaker 3: doing it in a way that it's like we're in
- 32:12Speaker 3: this together. We're doing it. I know this is annoying.
- 32:14Speaker 3: Let's just get it done. Some people are too timid
- 32:16Speaker 3: to go up to their bosses and ask for things
- 32:18Speaker 3: when there's approvals that are needed from the greater team,
- 32:22Speaker 3: like the publicist or the manager.
- 32:24Speaker 4: But for you to be able to feel comfortable to
- 32:27Speaker 4: do that, I think says a lot.
- 32:28Speaker 3: Yeah, I actually like having Because you guys worked on
- 32:33Speaker 3: set with this new girl who's coming in. I think
- 32:35Speaker 3: that that is going to set you up for great
- 32:37Speaker 3: success because those dynamics.
- 32:39Speaker 4: Are already established. You've worked well with her.
- 32:41Speaker 3: She kind of already understands everything that we've already discussed here,
- 32:45Speaker 3: like the boundaries, the vibe.
- 32:47Speaker 4: How you too, She's observed you two in action on set.
- 32:50Speaker 4: So I'm excited about her.
- 32:52Speaker 2: Yeah, me too. And I just love her energy, Like
- 32:54Speaker 2: she's just a wonderful person, so very kind, very kind,
- 32:56Speaker 2: very like excitable, loves the industry, very passionate. Yeah, So
- 33:00Speaker 2: I think I think it'll be a good fit. It's
- 33:02Speaker 2: always going to be like, you know, a little bit
- 33:05Speaker 2: of like a learning curve in the beginning of something.
- 33:06Speaker 2: But I'm not really worried about that.
- 33:08Speaker 4: I'm not worried about her either.
- 33:09Speaker 3: And I had an hour zoom with her two days
- 33:12Speaker 3: ago and I hung up and I said, oh, wow,
- 33:14Speaker 3: I feel very confident about her.
- 33:16Speaker 1: She has like this like the this light energy, this
- 33:20Speaker 1: like warm light energy that I think everyone obviously needs
- 33:24Speaker 1: in their life. But I think with you, you care
- 33:26Speaker 1: so much about the people that are around you because
- 33:27Speaker 1: they're like reflections of you, And it's like you would
- 33:30Speaker 1: want someone that's on your team that is like that, yeah,
- 33:33Speaker 1: where everyone meets them and is like this person is.
- 33:35Speaker 2: It makes sense, yeah, right, Like I knew that if
- 33:38Speaker 2: I sent Amelia into like any room or any place,
- 33:40Speaker 2: she was a good representation of me. I never worried
- 33:42Speaker 2: about Amelia, like case in point, representing me properly. And
- 33:46Speaker 2: I think, like that's the way I feel about the
- 33:48Speaker 2: new assistant as well as like, and we're just not
- 33:50Speaker 2: saying her name because for respect reasons, not because we're
- 33:52Speaker 2: calling her at VENU assistant, just for clarification, and even
- 33:56Speaker 2: in so much as like.
- 33:59Speaker 1: This.
- 34:00Speaker 2: We talked about this podcast for a while and like
- 34:01Speaker 2: the reason I didn't want to do it is I
- 34:02Speaker 2: was like, I'm not going to put my assistant on
- 34:04Speaker 2: blast and let everybody know Amelia Parker is my assistant
- 34:07Speaker 2: and then she's gonna deal with the litany of whatever
- 34:10Speaker 2: comes with that. I think there's like there's so much
- 34:11Speaker 2: about this job that's so like abnormal, I guess, and it's, yeah,
- 34:18Speaker 2: it's very intimated. Also it's very abnormal, and it's like,
- 34:20Speaker 2: just like you coming into my life is very personal
- 34:22Speaker 2: for me. It's like you're also stepping into a world
- 34:24Speaker 2: that's very public and so like you are now under
- 34:27Speaker 2: you know, whatever level of scrutiny by attaching your name
- 34:30Speaker 2: to me, you're now on under that microscope too, saying
- 34:33Speaker 2: there's like there's gotta be a level of respect there
- 34:34Speaker 2: as well.
- 34:35Speaker 3: Yeah, of course, I totally understand that maybe I should
- 34:39Speaker 3: just get people when they're transitioning out and.
- 34:41Speaker 1: Target that some people care, some people don't. Just depend.
- 34:44Speaker 4: Yeah that was a joke. I mean, I'm just as
- 34:47Speaker 4: upset that transitioning out. But at least she's going into law,
- 34:50Speaker 4: and yeah, another.
- 34:51Speaker 2: If she here's the thing if she texted me and
- 34:54Speaker 2: she was like I'm moving in the same direction, just
- 34:57Speaker 2: not with you anymore, I would be different devastated. But
- 35:01Speaker 2: her going when we met, you told me she wanted
- 35:03Speaker 2: to go to law school, and I was like, I
- 35:05Speaker 2: don't want to hire someone's going to law school, like
- 35:06Speaker 2: that feels like it's gonna be six months, and like
- 35:08Speaker 2: she can give you two years and then she wants
- 35:10Speaker 2: to figure it out. And it's like I've always known this. Yeah,
- 35:12Speaker 2: it's not a surprise to me. Yeah yeah.
- 35:14Speaker 1: But also something about you, and I think you're like
- 35:17Speaker 1: this with everyone that's like close to you in your life.
- 35:19Speaker 1: It's like a it's like a very symbiotic like exchange
- 35:23Speaker 1: of like you help me, I help you. And then
- 35:25Speaker 1: I think it's like with whoever is in Mad's life,
- 35:28Speaker 1: It's like, if you are contributing something to me in
- 35:30Speaker 1: my life and you're taking care of me, and you're
- 35:31Speaker 1: like in my corner in my circle, you'll be in
- 35:33Speaker 1: my corner in my circle forever, and like I can
- 35:35Speaker 1: help you in any way that I can die down
- 35:38Speaker 1: the line whatever that is. So I think it's like
- 35:40Speaker 1: with who was going to be replacing me, like with
- 35:44Speaker 1: her it's like she, you know, will be with Mad's
- 35:46Speaker 1: as long as they see fit and then in the future,
- 35:49Speaker 1: like I think there's like this mutual like wanting everyone
- 35:52Speaker 1: to grow and succeed is like really really important. I
- 35:54Speaker 1: think to have that like good assistant boss relationship where
- 35:57Speaker 1: it's like you're not viewing the person as like disposed,
- 35:59Speaker 1: like oh, anyone can do it. That's also like which is.
- 36:02Speaker 4: Of course not true, and not everyone can do it.
- 36:04Speaker 1: No, people tell you.
- 36:05Speaker 2: Trust me, not everyone can do it.
- 36:07Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, but like when you're young people say that,
- 36:10Speaker 1: Like for me, like coming out of school, it's like, oh,
- 36:12Speaker 1: they'll just pick someone else whatever. So it's like having
- 36:14Speaker 1: someone that genuinely like values you and is like I
- 36:16Speaker 1: will help you right in however way I can, or
- 36:19Speaker 1: even while you're still in the job, if you are
- 36:21Speaker 1: like going through something, a boss that like truly cares
- 36:24Speaker 1: about you is very important, just as much as you
- 36:26Speaker 1: truly care about the boss, of.
- 36:27Speaker 3: Course, and maybe for a desk job at a corporate company, listen,
- 36:32Speaker 3: that might be a disposable job, but not like this.
- 36:34Speaker 4: This is definitely not.
- 36:36Speaker 2: It's personal for both people absolutely, yeah, yeah, absolutely.
- 36:39Speaker 1: And it feels like equally sad because it's like obviously
- 36:42Speaker 1: it's like logistically tough because you're like, not there's isn't anymore.
- 36:45Speaker 1: So that's all.
- 36:46Speaker 2: Literally when she came to my house, we really cried
- 36:48Speaker 2: and cried and hugged. This is gonna suck, Like I said,
- 36:51Speaker 2: how are we going to maintain our friendship? No, I've
- 36:53Speaker 2: never hugged her in my life, yeah, never, And then
- 36:54Speaker 2: we cried and hugged. But we're like, how do we
- 36:56Speaker 2: maintain our friendship moving forward? And it's like, okay, we
- 36:58Speaker 2: have to actively hang out now, Like that's just it's
- 36:59Speaker 2: just that's what's gonna have to happen.
- 37:01Speaker 1: And I think it's also a normal thing too, like
- 37:03Speaker 1: some people leave part ways, like I know friends of
- 37:05Speaker 1: mine have left their bosses because they got too close.
- 37:08Speaker 1: Where it's like we are actually going to be better
- 37:10Speaker 1: as like friends, right, Like I feel weird asking you
- 37:13Speaker 1: to get me a coffee yeah, or like things get
- 37:15Speaker 1: and it never got to that point with us at all.
- 37:17Speaker 1: But I do think it's like if you have a
- 37:20Speaker 1: successful relationship, yeah, but now it's like now.
- 37:23Speaker 2: We can just like be your friends. Yeah.
- 37:24Speaker 1: And I think that also is really great where it's
- 37:27Speaker 1: like we are going to be in each other's lives,
- 37:29Speaker 1: Like you don't invest this time and energy into another
- 37:31Speaker 1: person and care about their career as much as you do.
- 37:34Speaker 1: Where it's like every like premiere she's doing like obviously,
- 37:36Speaker 1: like we're gonna.
- 37:37Speaker 2: Like she's like the gang's playing up.
- 37:39Speaker 1: Yeah, like obviously I'm there, Like what do you mean? Yeah,
- 37:41Speaker 1: you know, so that's you don't with this, It's like
- 37:44Speaker 1: it should feel like it's long term, like partnership, even
- 37:46Speaker 1: if you're not working for them front us.
- 37:48Speaker 3: And you were heavily involved in the interview process in
- 37:51Speaker 3: the beginning for your own replacement, which I'm sure was
- 37:54Speaker 3: a tough exercise because you're like, Okay, if I picked
- 37:56Speaker 3: the wrong person, this.
- 37:58Speaker 4: Is my job. Placing yourself is the hardest thing in
- 38:01Speaker 4: the entire world.
- 38:02Speaker 3: And you really because it's so intimate and it's your thing,
- 38:06Speaker 3: that it's your baby, and it's your job, and you're
- 38:09Speaker 3: just it's so sacred, so finding that replacement is really difficult.
- 38:13Speaker 3: But because you see everyone who's listening. We did go
- 38:16Speaker 3: through a couple of interviews from girls that I sent over,
- 38:20Speaker 3: and Madeline said, you know, I'm not really feeling any
- 38:21Speaker 3: of these and obviously big shoes to fill. But then
- 38:24Speaker 3: this person that they had both both were, oh my gosh,
- 38:27Speaker 3: both worked with on set they offered the job to
- 38:32Speaker 3: and that just felt like a really natural fit. And
- 38:35Speaker 3: Amelia has of course spent time with her. But I
- 38:37Speaker 3: think because you two separately already have a relationship established,
- 38:41Speaker 3: it's just.
- 38:41Speaker 4: Going to make the whole triangle just flow better.
- 38:44Speaker 1: And like her being here too. It's like with these jobs,
- 38:48Speaker 1: it's not a seamless transition in the sense of like
- 38:51Speaker 1: one day you stop, another person comes in, like there
- 38:53Speaker 1: is a bit of growing pains, and you want to
- 38:55Speaker 1: be like available to that next as it is really important.
- 38:58Speaker 3: Yeah, we're not nervous about you not picking up the
- 39:01Speaker 3: not even one person making a run for it.
- 39:04Speaker 2: She changes her number and.
- 39:06Speaker 1: Like it's so funny because I actually am the worst
- 39:07Speaker 1: at responding. I have seven hundreds. She always will be
- 39:10Speaker 1: like you have the more.
- 39:11Speaker 2: Also has the most ridiculous amount of group chats I've
- 39:13Speaker 2: ever seen in my entire life, Like, genuinely, who has
- 39:15Speaker 2: that many friends. It's out of control. She's just too lovable.
- 39:19Speaker 1: And then but I but when it comes to work,
- 39:21Speaker 1: I responded, like two seconds if I don't respond, She's
- 39:24Speaker 1: like it's something wrong.
- 39:25Speaker 2: You're like are you okay?
- 39:26Speaker 1: Or like what's going on? But when it comes like
- 39:29Speaker 1: my personal life is.
- 39:30Speaker 2: That when you're not gonna respond to me as fast
- 39:31Speaker 2: anymore because what you're telling me, did you want to
- 39:34Speaker 2: be honest, You'll be.
- 39:35Speaker 1: Paying sid even if I don't respond, I'm still gonna
- 39:39Speaker 1: have that like.
- 39:40Speaker 2: That horrible photo.
- 39:42Speaker 1: Oh yeah.
- 39:42Speaker 3: I think when I transitioned out with Jen, the the
- 39:46Speaker 3: hardest thing for me was I went from basically six
- 39:50Speaker 3: years of talking to one person all day long, every day,
- 39:54Speaker 3: texting back and forth on the phone in person, and
- 39:56Speaker 3: then when I stopped working with her, I we weren't
- 40:00Speaker 3: communicating like that anymore because that was not normal or
- 40:03Speaker 3: people who were no longer working together and who are
- 40:06Speaker 3: just friends now. But I think that was the toughest
- 40:08Speaker 3: adjustment for me because it did feel like we have
- 40:11Speaker 3: a very good relationship now, but it did feel like
- 40:13Speaker 3: a breakup in that sense of the communication, part of
- 40:16Speaker 3: not being able or just not like you guys will
- 40:20Speaker 3: find your group. Of course you always do, but that
- 40:23Speaker 3: for me was I think the most shocking part of
- 40:26Speaker 3: leaving that job. I was like, oh wow, something felt
- 40:29Speaker 3: like off because I wasn't consuming piece back and forth
- 40:33Speaker 3: with someone.
- 40:34Speaker 2: I'm also kind of like looking forward to, though, like
- 40:36Speaker 2: navigating our friendship now, like the idea of her texting
- 40:38Speaker 2: me and being like, oh my god, like this crazy
- 40:40Speaker 2: thing happened. Can I call you? Do you have five minutes?
- 40:42Speaker 2: Or like me texting her and me like I have
- 40:44Speaker 2: to update you, like can we do dinner tomorrow? Like
- 40:46Speaker 2: I'm looking forward to like actually choosing to spend time together.
- 40:48Speaker 2: I think it's going to like make us even closer, honestly.
- 40:51Speaker 3: Yeah, totally, And now you know that this is a
- 40:53Speaker 3: safe person, of course, who always has your back no
- 40:56Speaker 3: matter what, and I think that that's rare to find.
- 40:59Speaker 2: The I told her, I was, I'm not taking away
- 41:00Speaker 2: my house, ky, or like my door bird, like you
- 41:02Speaker 2: should have all those things because I trust you when
- 41:04Speaker 2: you live in LA and you're gonna be here all
- 41:05Speaker 2: the time, like you never know.
- 41:06Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, like it doesn't need to be this like
- 41:09Speaker 4: yeah totally, it's a hard time.
- 41:11Speaker 1: Yeah absolutely, but oh my god, those conversations are It
- 41:13Speaker 1: was like I literally said, I was like, this is
- 41:14Speaker 1: harder than like a breakup, like genuinely, like it's awful.
- 41:17Speaker 2: She was trembling. I've never seen her nervous in her life.
- 41:19Speaker 4: It's just get nervous. Before she was so nervous.
- 41:22Speaker 2: I know.
- 41:23Speaker 1: It's just it's just shitty. But that's also like, I mean,
- 41:25Speaker 1: it's life and it's growing like whatever, but it's just
- 41:27Speaker 1: it's still.
- 41:28Speaker 2: Like, was I excited to get that text? No? But
- 41:30Speaker 2: was I excited to hear you were doing something that
- 41:31Speaker 2: you were excited about?
- 41:32Speaker 1: Like that. We didn't break up over text, though I
- 41:33Speaker 1: warned her on text.
- 41:35Speaker 2: You warned me on text that it was the breakup
- 41:37Speaker 2: was coming, Yes.
- 41:38Speaker 1: Because I knew. It's like we knew mad if you
- 41:40Speaker 1: rip the off and if I did it in person,
- 41:42Speaker 1: she would be like I.
- 41:43Speaker 2: Would be like, I need like some time.
- 41:45Speaker 1: You're like, just need to give her the night to
- 41:47Speaker 1: think about the four week chat in person. Yeah, but again,
- 41:50Speaker 1: everyone say it all works out.
- 41:52Speaker 4: It's going to be great.
- 41:53Speaker 3: Yeah, And I'm very excited for your new assistant and
- 41:56Speaker 3: it will be a team effort between the four of us.
- 41:59Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 41:59Speaker 2: I feel like I'm in very good hands. I'm a
- 42:01Speaker 2: lucky girl.
- 42:01Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 42:02Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the thing about Meccan and she's she's always
- 42:04Speaker 1: around me.
- 42:06Speaker 2: I always answers very sweet.
- 42:09Speaker 6: To wrap up, I always ask people, what is some
- 42:12Speaker 6: advice that you would give, either someone who's trying to
- 42:15Speaker 6: be a Madeleine or someone who's trying to be an Amelia,
- 42:18Speaker 6: And what are I.
- 42:20Speaker 3: Guess we'll start with Madeleine. What is something that you
- 42:22Speaker 3: would say to yourself pre Riverdale?
- 42:24Speaker 2: Everything is so not as big of a deal as
- 42:27Speaker 2: you think it is. Probably I tell myself that's still
- 42:29Speaker 2: every day I take everything very seriously. Let it go.
- 42:34Speaker 2: I think I would say, let it go, really.
- 42:36Speaker 4: And give you an example something, oh God.
- 42:39Speaker 2: Like anything, honestly, like every audition I used to write
- 42:42Speaker 2: down every audition before Riverdale, and like the notes I got,
- 42:45Speaker 2: and you know what the rule was. And I was
- 42:47Speaker 2: trying to like control every aspect of like an art
- 42:50Speaker 2: that you can't control, like it has nothing really has
- 42:52Speaker 2: nothing to do with me. The talent is there, it's
- 42:55Speaker 2: about like whether or not the vibe is there, Like
- 42:57Speaker 2: does the person think I'm that character or not? And
- 42:59Speaker 2: like sometimes it's like the match made in heaven and
- 43:01Speaker 2: sometimes you think it is and it's not. And I
- 43:02Speaker 2: think I spent a lot of my time trying to control, control, control,
- 43:05Speaker 2: in the minute I like released control. I got everything
- 43:08Speaker 2: I was wanting.
- 43:11Speaker 3: And do you feel like having the right people around
- 43:13Speaker 3: you helps you release control or is it just like a.
- 43:16Speaker 4: Thing that you're in with yourself.
- 43:18Speaker 2: Oh, I think like it's so if I don't have
- 43:21Speaker 2: people who are capable around me to do their their
- 43:24Speaker 2: share of the work, then I will do their share
- 43:26Speaker 2: of the work, and then therefore I'm controlling. So it's
- 43:28Speaker 2: like I think having people like the Amelias of the
- 43:31Speaker 2: world are my amazing manager, am I amazing agent, like
- 43:33Speaker 2: whoever who actually like really step up and support me
- 43:38Speaker 2: allows me to release control as an artist.
- 43:41Speaker 4: It's great. And what are you most excited about coming up?
- 43:43Speaker 2: I'm shooting something right now that like kind of is
- 43:45Speaker 2: like a dream project for me that I've always wanted
- 43:48Speaker 2: to do, and so I'm really excited about that. And
- 43:49Speaker 2: then you know, we'll see what else that your has
- 43:52Speaker 2: in store. I can't really talk about anything, to be
- 43:53Speaker 2: honest with all, Like I'm a super NDA, but I'm
- 43:56Speaker 2: doing right now that I'm really excited about. And like
- 43:57Speaker 2: when I moved to LA, I was like, I want
- 43:59Speaker 2: to work with this person. I'm working with them, so
- 44:00Speaker 2: I'm real excited.
- 44:01Speaker 3: Amazing well you're going when you talk about it, So
- 44:03Speaker 3: I'm very excited for you.
- 44:04Speaker 1: Think there's lots of fun things. Yeah, yea, I'm excited.
- 44:08Speaker 3: And Amelia advice I think, I guess to any college
- 44:12Speaker 3: students or maybe advice to someone who has no movie
- 44:17Speaker 3: set experience, no assistant experience, who wants to go work
- 44:20Speaker 3: for Madeline and do what you just did for two years.
- 44:23Speaker 1: I think being really open minded and having like a
- 44:27Speaker 1: yes mindset, just being down for like you always not
- 44:31Speaker 1: it's always jokes like you're such a down house bitch
- 44:34Speaker 1: like that, Like just being like I'm down, like honestly,
- 44:36Speaker 1: it goes such a long way, I think, and people
- 44:38Speaker 1: can sense that, like someone who's just genuinely open and
- 44:41Speaker 1: happy to be there. And like I think I was
- 44:43Speaker 1: just so ready to learn and like live and do
- 44:45Speaker 1: it and I had no like tethers to anything. I
- 44:48Speaker 1: think that's really important. Also, just like being like knowing
- 44:52Speaker 1: your place, like knowing that it's like not that serious,
- 44:55Speaker 1: it's not that deep, like we're all just trying to
- 44:57Speaker 1: figure this out, like trying your best, not taking things
- 44:59Speaker 1: personal only, and like it's such a weird industry sometimes
- 45:03Speaker 1: and it's just a weird world and can be a
- 45:05Speaker 1: weird job and just like being like trying to be
- 45:08Speaker 1: kind to everyone and just yea handle it as mature
- 45:11Speaker 1: as possible because like I was so young too, and
- 45:14Speaker 1: like obviously still am really young, and I think navigating
- 45:16Speaker 1: that to it's just a lot.
- 45:17Speaker 2: Is it insane? How mature she is? Like, it's insane.
- 45:19Speaker 2: I hired it like like freshly almost twenty one, twenty
- 45:21Speaker 2: two year old.
- 45:22Speaker 4: Wild and run my life, but it is wild.
- 45:25Speaker 2: Yeah, and she ran my life better than I could.
- 45:28Speaker 2: It's great.
- 45:28Speaker 4: You could run my life better than yeah, yeah, for sure.
- 45:31Speaker 1: Well I guess fake it till you make it. I
- 45:32Speaker 1: don't know.
- 45:33Speaker 4: That's great advice. Yeah, that's great.
- 45:35Speaker 1: Nice, I have no idea.
- 45:36Speaker 2: But like you've vanished an entire house at twenty years,
- 45:39Speaker 2: yes they did.
- 45:40Speaker 3: Yeah, you could be a great mom, thanks, Yeah.
- 45:43Speaker 2: And a great lawyer, yes, and a great lawyer yeah yeah.
- 45:47Speaker 2: Anyone anyone need a lawyer?
- 45:48Speaker 1: What's entertainment? So maybe whatever?
- 45:53Speaker 4: Yeah, do you want to be an entertainment lawyer?
- 45:55Speaker 2: Yeah? Okay, Well this is a new development since when
- 45:57Speaker 2: since always you never told that used to crisis pr Well, it's.
- 46:01Speaker 1: All the same entertainment lawyers. They are, it's like they
- 46:03Speaker 1: have not yours. You don't.
- 46:08Speaker 3: Have fun with that in a couple of years, like him,
- 46:11Speaker 3: but like that would be a fun plot twist in
- 46:13Speaker 3: a couple of years because my lawyer.
- 46:15Speaker 4: And I'm so excited to watch you, you know, same
- 46:18Speaker 4: take off over And.
- 46:19Speaker 3: This is all relevant experience too. If you want to
- 46:21Speaker 3: become an entertainment lawyer, go be an assistant entertainment because
- 46:24Speaker 3: a lot of the things that you take away from
- 46:26Speaker 3: this job will help you succeed.
- 46:27Speaker 1: So like literally any industry, honestly, Like it's not a
- 46:31Speaker 1: one lane road at all. Like you learn such transferable
- 46:35Speaker 1: skills doing this, like more than you would ever learn
- 46:38Speaker 1: in a corporate job. I agree, like beyond like I
- 46:42Speaker 1: feel like I grew up. I feel like I learned
- 46:45Speaker 1: like so much in the last two years and I
- 46:47Speaker 1: ever like learned in all of college and my period,
- 46:51Speaker 1: just because you've been thrown into, like professor, crazy situations,
- 46:54Speaker 1: and like I would say this to people, like when
- 46:57Speaker 1: I would like when I was interviewing people, I was like,
- 47:00Speaker 1: things go wrong here every day in some way, so
- 47:03Speaker 1: you've got to learn how to deal with a lot
- 47:04Speaker 1: of things going wrong. And I never had that before.
- 47:07Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean things go wrong not because of you two,
- 47:10Speaker 3: but for life, because life happens and timelines and yes,
- 47:15Speaker 3: because there's so many cooks in the kitchen sometimes that
- 47:17Speaker 3: you can be doing your job so well and things
- 47:19Speaker 3: will still go wrong. Yeah, and you have to learn
- 47:21Speaker 3: how to literally deal with that at the drop of a.
- 47:23Speaker 2: Hat, and also not take it personally. I think, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 47:27Speaker 2: you're right.
- 47:27Speaker 1: It's like drop it's just like life just a lot
- 47:30Speaker 1: crazier because just go with the flow.
- 47:32Speaker 2: Yeah, go with the flow.
- 47:33Speaker 3: Go to the flow, and not take things personally and
- 47:36Speaker 3: and not be too serious.
- 47:37Speaker 4: Like you said, I think that's great.
- 47:38Speaker 1: Yeah, I think you're really good at that. You're very
- 47:42Speaker 1: good at like compartmentalizing and moving on.
- 47:44Speaker 2: Like just trauma.
- 47:48Speaker 1: Like you're always like, it is what it is. I'm
- 47:49Speaker 1: not worried about it at all.
- 47:51Speaker 3: It's just the best way to go about life though,
- 47:53Speaker 3: because it's I I'm kind of the same way. There's
- 47:56Speaker 3: so many things that you can decide to be really
- 48:00Speaker 3: controlling over and other things where you are just like
- 48:02Speaker 3: Jesus take the wheel. And that's kind of my attitude.
- 48:05Speaker 6: Now.
- 48:06Speaker 3: Anything that's supposed to happen to me in this life
- 48:08Speaker 3: is going to happen to me and I can only
- 48:10Speaker 3: keep my side of the street clean.
- 48:11Speaker 4: So boom absolutely yeah.
- 48:14Speaker 1: Period and I'll not know.
- 48:17Speaker 2: Wait wait, wait to exit.
- 48:19Speaker 3: We do this thing sometimes if you guys want to
- 48:22Speaker 3: prank so someone, if there's like anyone in your.
- 48:25Speaker 4: Work world that you feel like would be funny to
- 48:28Speaker 4: prank phone call it.
- 48:28Speaker 2: Who would be a prank phone call? Tara? Oh what
- 48:31Speaker 2: would the prank call be? They usually do.
- 48:34Speaker 4: I tried to do this with someone once.
- 48:35Speaker 3: If you call her and you're like, hey, I just
- 48:37Speaker 3: hit something with my car or like Amelia's car, you know.
- 48:40Speaker 2: You should call Tara as I feel like you, or
- 48:41Speaker 2: call Andy as if you're freaking out, like that something
- 48:43Speaker 2: something happened to my car. Thank oh my god, it
- 48:45Speaker 2: was my last day with Madeline and then like I
- 48:47Speaker 2: crashed her Mercedes? Like what do I do?
- 48:49Speaker 1: Okay, do that? Wait? I'm scared. But if she says
- 48:52Speaker 1: something crazy or I do Tara Tera might Beara's gonna
- 48:55Speaker 1: be funnier.
- 48:56Speaker 2: Or if you say, like the dog got out, like
- 48:58Speaker 2: oh my dog's not here right now?
- 48:59Speaker 4: Okay, also like something like that.
- 49:01Speaker 2: Vibe that's funny.
- 49:04Speaker 1: This is this is something so her photo. This is
- 49:08Speaker 1: terraffying her pants.
- 49:10Speaker 2: Okay, I find call Andy, Okay, Andy will pick up.
- 49:17Speaker 1: How what Andy? What something really bad happened? What I
- 49:24Speaker 1: would had to go to Mad's house to get her
- 49:26Speaker 1: car because I had to go get gas in it
- 49:27Speaker 1: and get it washed like whatever. I literally was turning
- 49:31Speaker 1: like up her hill, like you know, we're like when
- 49:33Speaker 1: you turn up her hill and there's that really sharp turn.
- 49:35Speaker 1: I literally smashed into the trash cans of her neighbor's
- 49:39Speaker 1: house and the front of her car is like fucked up. No, yes,
- 49:43Speaker 1: Like the light is like literally out of like it's
- 49:46Speaker 1: like it's like damage beyond. And I'm like, okay, it's fine. Hi,
- 49:52Speaker 1: Like what it's fine.
- 49:54Speaker 3: Because honestly it's not her car, so like she doesn't
- 50:00Speaker 3: like Mercedes will take care of it, and it's totally fine.
- 50:02Speaker 1: She literally rear ended somebody recently. Okay, this is a prank.
- 50:10Speaker 2: She's literally rearended some go fuck yourself.
- 50:15Speaker 1: Out last, this is a brank.
- 50:19Speaker 2: You got branks. You guys are actually evil.
- 50:23Speaker 1: I know you were like you're gonna be No, I
- 50:26Speaker 1: I was trying to that was that was what we
- 50:28Speaker 1: could think of but maybe we could have gone.
- 50:30Speaker 2: It doesn't matter. It's not her car. It's crazy.
- 50:32Speaker 1: I was like, she's the guy. I was literally like,
- 50:35Speaker 1: as long as you figure out for her before you
- 50:37Speaker 1: leave her.
- 50:40Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 50:40Speaker 1: Well, okay, I love you. Talk to you on the podcast.
- 50:45Speaker 2: It's on it right now.
- 50:46Speaker 1: You're on it, all right. I want to kill everyone.
- 50:53Speaker 2: I'm gonna.
- 50:56Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 50:57Speaker 4: That was perfect on that note, Thank you guys so much.
- 51:00Speaker 4: We'll see you next time. Bye.
- 51:04Speaker 6: M m hmmm
