Luna: Yeah, it really helps everything stay ad-free. And now, what are we learning today? Lucas: Today we're going to ask some very important questions. Last time we talked about boredom and excitement, like je m'ennuie. But now you can ask me pourquoi tu t'ennuies? Luna: Oh, so we're learning question words? That's perfect. I have so many questions. Lucas: Great. Let's start with the most basic one: où. Where. Luna: Où. Lucas: Où. Now, how would you ask 'Where is the cat?' Luna: Où est le chat? Lucas: Exactly. Où est le chat. You put où at the beginning. Nice. Luna: So if I want to ask where something is, I just start with où. Où est le café. Où est mon téléphone. Lucas: You got it. Next one is quand. When. Luna: Quand. Lucas: Quand. Ask me 'When do we eat?' Luna: Quand est-ce qu'on mange? Lucas: Perfect. Quand est-ce qu'on mange. You can also just say 'Quand mange-t-on?' but that's a bit formal. You're doing great. Luna: Okay, so quand for time. What about why? Lucas: That's pourquoi. Por quoi, but it's one word. Pourquoi. Why. Luna: Pourquoi. Lucas: Ask me 'Why are you happy?' Luna: Pourquoi tu es content? Lucas: Parce que je parle avec toi. Good, maintenant le suivant: comment. How. Luna: Comment. Lucas: Comment. You already know 'Comment ça va?' from before. That's how are you, or literally how is it going. Luna: Ah, right. Comment ça va. So comment for how. Nice. Lucas: Now, who. Qui. Luna: Qui. Lucas: Qui. Ask me 'Who is it?' Luna: Qui est-ce? Lucas: Exactement. Qui est-ce. And one more: quoi. What. Luna: Quoi. Lucas: Quoi. You can say 'Quoi?' on its own, like 'What?' But a natural question would be 'Tu veux quoi?' What do you want? Luna: Tu veux quoi? That's easier than I thought. Lucas: Now let's review all six. Repeat after me: où, quand, pourquoi, comment, qui, quoi. Luna: Où, quand, pourquoi, comment, qui, quoi. Lucas: Perfect. Now let's play a little game. I'm thinking of something, and you ask me questions with these words. Luna: Okay. Où est-il? Lucas: It's in the kitchen. Luna: Quand est-ce qu'on le mange? Lucas: At dinner. Pourquoi? Because it's delicious. Luna: Comment ça se prépare? Lucas: Well, it's a chocolate cake. Qui a fait ce gâteau? Luna: Toi! Quoi! Tu as fait un gâteau? Lucas: Oui, c'est moi. See, you just used every single question word without even thinking. Luna: That feels amazing. So now I can ask où, quand, pourquoi, comment, qui, and quoi whenever I want. Lucas: Exactly. Practice them around the house. Ask 'Où est mon livre?' or 'Comment ça marche?' and you'll sound more French in no time. Luna: I will. Thanks, Lucas. And thanks to all our listeners for making it to episode two hundred. Lucas: Remember, you can keep supporting us at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. We'll see you next time for more fun with French.
