Lucas: Today we're going to the post office to buy stamps and send mail. Very useful if you ever need to send a letter or package in the Netherlands. Luna: Oh nice! Lucas: So the first phrase you'll need at the post office is 'Ik wil graag een postzegel.' That means 'I would like a stamp.' Let's say it together: Ik wil graag een postzegel. Luna: Ik wil graag een postzegel. Lucas: Good! Now, if you want to ask the price, you say 'Hoeveel kost een postzegel?' — 'How much does a stamp cost?' Try it. Luna: Hoeveel kost een postzegel? Lucas: Perfect. And if you're sending a letter, you say 'Ik wil een brief versturen.' — 'I want to send a letter.' Say it with me. Luna: Ik wil een brief versturen. Lucas: For a package, it's 'Ik wil een pakketje versturen.' — 'I want to send a parcel.' Let's hear that. Luna: Ik wil een pakketje versturen. Lucas: And finally, when you're done and need to know where to drop it off, ask 'Waar kan ik dit afgeven?' — 'Where can I drop this off?' Your turn. Luna: Waar kan ik dit afgeven? Lucas: Excellent! Let's put it all together in a little scene. Imagine you walk up to the counter and say 'Ik wil graag een postzegel.' The clerk asks 'Hoeveel kost een postzegel?' You ask back 'Hoeveel kost een postzegel?' No, wait — you already know it's one stamp. Let's try a dialogue. Luna: Okay, I'll be the customer. 'Ik wil graag een postzegel.' Lucas: And I'll be the clerk. 'Dat is één euro vijftig.' Then you hand over the money and say 'Ik wil een brief versturen.' and ask 'Waar kan ik dit afgeven?' Luna: Right. 'Ik wil een brief versturen. Waar kan ik dit afgeven?' Lucas: The clerk points to the mailbox. 'Daar kunt u het afgeven.' Perfect! Now let's review all five phrases one more time. Luna: Good idea! I'll say them. 'Ik wil graag een postzegel.' Lucas: Hoeveel kost een postzegel? Luna: Ik wil een brief versturen. Lucas: Ik wil een pakketje versturen. Luna: Waar kan ik dit afgeven?
