- 1:42Speaker 1: special guest in here, someone who I've looked up to
- 1:45Speaker 1: for a very long time, a legend in the game,
- 1:47Speaker 1: Peter Rosenberg. Ladies and gentlemen, what's up? Fighting makes me
- 1:52Speaker 1: feel both both good and old. Yeah. I mean, you
- 1:55Speaker 1: know it's crazy because I remember I was like souper
- 2:00Speaker 1: were early on on one app. This is the way
- 2:03Speaker 1: before you guys got the morning show, and uh, I
- 2:07Speaker 1: think you guys had I forget what forum you had
- 2:11Speaker 1: like where listeners could hit you all up. I don't
- 2:14Speaker 1: remember if I hit you up on like instant Messenger
- 2:17Speaker 1: or oh really you reach out? Yeah, dude, I remember
- 2:21Speaker 1: that the one of the episodes. I remember, like way
- 2:24Speaker 1: back was like around the time Sean Taylor died, you
- 2:27Speaker 1: guys talking about that, Like, yeah, man, I was. I was,
- 2:30Speaker 1: you know, like like when you guys, I missed the
- 2:33Speaker 1: days when and then I'm glad that these days have
- 2:36Speaker 1: kind of come back with wanapp before it was really
- 2:38Speaker 1: about interviews, when it was just you guys just shooting
- 2:40Speaker 1: the shit about your favorite fast food places across the country,
- 2:44Speaker 1: like but the collect but yeah, but like you know,
- 2:47Speaker 1: uh yeah, man, you're a legend bro, so you know
- 2:50Speaker 1: it's it's it's good to see you and you uh
- 2:53Speaker 1: you got a new album coming out, which I feel
- 2:54Speaker 1: like is way overdue. I know. It's like it's funny
- 2:58Speaker 1: for the people who like don't really understand how the
- 3:00Speaker 1: music business works, they're like, you know, like on my
- 3:02Speaker 1: sports side of things, it's like you're putting out an album,
- 3:04Speaker 1: but what And then for the people in the business
- 3:07Speaker 1: who get it, they're like, oh about time you put
- 3:08Speaker 1: out a damned album, man, what are you doing? Yeah.
- 3:10Speaker 1: I feel like this is something that first of all,
- 3:13Speaker 1: I can only imagine how annoying and tedious it is
- 3:16Speaker 1: to deal with different teams of management and artists, and
- 3:20Speaker 1: you know, it's it's it's it's I know it's a process.
- 3:23Speaker 1: It had to have been a process. When did you
- 3:24Speaker 1: kind of originally start putting everything together where you were like, okay,
- 3:28Speaker 1: this is an album situation it well, because it had
- 3:32Speaker 1: been it had come through like different ideas and and
- 3:35Speaker 1: and moments and iterations. This final iteration of what it
- 3:38Speaker 1: turned out to be was really like end of the
- 3:41Speaker 1: summer that I started thinking about it, and in an
- 3:44Speaker 1: early fall that I started sort of digging into it.
- 3:47Speaker 1: But now that you mentioned that, yo, I didn't. I
- 3:50Speaker 1: didn't deal with any teams on this whole thing. Oh
- 3:52Speaker 1: that's why you want. Everyone on this project is indy.
- 3:56Speaker 1: I don't have any there's no label clearing, like it's
- 4:00Speaker 1: a it's a great first album for me, because I
- 4:05Speaker 1: should I continue to go forward and do more. I'm
- 4:07Speaker 1: sure you're right, I'll have to deal with more fuckery,
- 4:10Speaker 1: right And in this case, it was like you might
- 4:13Speaker 1: deal with someone's right hand man, right right, right, right
- 4:15Speaker 1: right right, but you're not. You're not. I'm not dealing
- 4:18Speaker 1: with labels like things were just they were just done.
- 4:22Speaker 1: I haven't even finished having all the business conversations yet
- 4:24Speaker 1: like I got to set up everyone splits and do
- 4:26Speaker 1: all the work. Everyone's just like, yeah, here's a verse,
- 4:29Speaker 1: let's go yeah, hey, and well, you know, for people
- 4:31Speaker 1: to don't realize, like it's a homage to your to
- 4:33Speaker 1: show you that that you came to Hot ninety seven
- 4:35Speaker 1: to originally do Real Late. Yeah, that's that's the whole
- 4:40Speaker 1: album theme was just I was I was stressing about
- 4:44Speaker 1: what to call it. I had like half of it done,
- 4:48Speaker 1: and I reached out to my boy Disco Vietnam, who
- 4:50Speaker 1: produced three songs on the project. He did the Flee
- 4:53Speaker 1: Lord Rock Marcy, he did the ghost Face Crime Apple
- 4:55Speaker 1: Jim Jones, and he did the second Generation Woo. And
- 4:59Speaker 1: I had set him a tech and I'm like, ah,
- 5:01Speaker 1: I really want to name because it's hard for me
- 5:04Speaker 1: to like get in the frame of mind to finishing
- 5:07Speaker 1: this whole thing and taking next steps when I don't
- 5:11Speaker 1: know what the project is called, right, And in like
- 5:15Speaker 1: thirty seconds, he was just like, why don't you call
- 5:17Speaker 1: it Real Late? I mean, that's kind of the show
- 5:19Speaker 1: you've been doing this whole time, which kind of is
- 5:21Speaker 1: the isn't that what this whole album really is? Right?
- 5:24Speaker 1: And then I was like, oh shit, and then I
- 5:26Speaker 1: realized I'm like, oh and for the people who most
- 5:28Speaker 1: people who will hear this album don't even know what
- 5:30Speaker 1: that radio show is, it will have a totally different
- 5:34Speaker 1: meaning for them, Like and then they'll see the album
- 5:36Speaker 1: cover and they'll see Late Night and they'll maybe start
- 5:38Speaker 1: putting together images. But for them it's not based on radio.
- 5:41Speaker 1: But for the people who have it has a different meaning.
- 5:44Speaker 1: Run through all the like give me all the all
- 5:47Speaker 1: the features, like who all you got on the album?
- 5:49Speaker 1: I mean you dropped three singles, you know, you've gotten
- 5:52Speaker 1: some crazy verses so far, But who all is on
- 5:54Speaker 1: the album? The intro is vel the wonder La Zone
- 6:01Speaker 1: the It's produced by DJ Skiz. The next joint styles
- 6:04Speaker 1: p Ransom and Dezza. Okay, yeah, they came through Super Hard, Westside,
- 6:13Speaker 1: gun Stain, Marcus Smart, Lee Lord and Stove God Cooks. Halways.
- 6:19Speaker 1: This is like a fun challenge for myself, by the way,
- 6:21Speaker 1: Halways with Flee, Lord and Rock Marcy mind over matter,
- 6:26Speaker 1: which is I'm probably the most pleasantly surprised with how
- 6:30Speaker 1: many people I've given the record to mention this song,
- 6:32Speaker 1: because most of the people have told me they don't
- 6:35Speaker 1: even know the artists are, but they love the song.
- 6:37Speaker 1: That's Jane Nis and Ito mind Over Matter, Next Chamber,
- 6:43Speaker 1: Metha Man, Ray Kwan, Willie the Kid, Mayhem Lorenz has
- 6:47Speaker 1: an interlude on there Midnight Sunday Rashid Chappelle, produced by
- 6:52Speaker 1: Buck Wild Buck. By the way, Buck did the Mayhem
- 6:54Speaker 1: interlude as well. Nice the Oh, the ghost Face, Snake Eyes,
- 7:02Speaker 1: ghost Face, Crime Apple and and and Jim Jones, which
- 7:06Speaker 1: is fucking bananas in my opinion. Ghost ghosts will have you,
- 7:11Speaker 1: ghost might my ghost might have you in the street.
- 7:13Speaker 1: You might go want to do something you shouldn't do
- 7:15Speaker 1: when you hear ghost face. My favorite type of ghost face.
- 7:19Speaker 1: You know it's it's it's it's reach your money and
- 7:21Speaker 1: the reach your hands in the register and take out
- 7:23Speaker 1: all the money ghost face. It's it's it's fucking hard. Uh.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Wu Generation by second generation Wu, I want it all
- 7:33Speaker 1: Fly Anakin and Nicholas f And I haven't heard that.
- 7:37Speaker 1: I haven't heard Nicholas f in a while. I haven't
- 7:40Speaker 1: heard that name in a minute. Yeah, he's Nicholas f Is. Actually,
- 7:44Speaker 1: can you have a record with Drake? Yeah? He wrote, No, No,
- 7:48Speaker 1: you're not tripping. He wrote that record. He wrote the
- 7:51Speaker 1: record with Drake and Wayne. He might he's on a
- 7:56Speaker 1: record I believe. Also, yeah, I think they have a
- 7:58Speaker 1: record together that was like on like the blogs back
- 8:01Speaker 1: in the day. Yeah, but he also wrote a Drake
- 8:03Speaker 1: record back at that time too. And yeah, dear homeboy
- 8:08Speaker 1: Sam Man, which is that your guy? You know? And
- 8:11Speaker 1: he's a he's an alien, Yeah, you know, he's an alien.
- 8:14Speaker 1: He really if you listen to that verse, he like
- 8:18Speaker 1: takes you on a story. It's like it's like going
- 8:20Speaker 1: inside someone's brain and just listening to them think on
- 8:23Speaker 1: a record like He's it's a he's awesome. You know.
- 8:27Speaker 1: We always get these albums uh that that that are compilations, right,
- 8:32Speaker 1: and and you know, I think cal it is someone
- 8:34Speaker 1: who's done a good a good job of putting albums
- 8:36Speaker 1: together and then also at times maybe maybe not so
- 8:38Speaker 1: good of a job. You know. I mean, obviously it's
- 8:42Speaker 1: everything subjective, but how hard is it to do something
- 8:46Speaker 1: like this and make it cohesive? In this case, it
- 8:56Speaker 1: was very easy because as I picked artists who made sense,
- 9:03Speaker 1: so you're not trying to get one artist to agree
- 9:09Speaker 1: to make the record and then another artist on a
- 9:13Speaker 1: different song. Who's gonna not gonna pick anything similar to
- 9:17Speaker 1: what this other artist was feeling. So as a result,
- 9:21Speaker 1: so really like I was able to sort of use
- 9:25Speaker 1: my ear and have that work for all the artists
- 9:30Speaker 1: that were selected. If I had tried to get too crazy,
- 9:35Speaker 1: ultimately I would have had like this, this, this disconnect.
- 9:39Speaker 1: The least connected record is probably the Homeboy sam Man record,
- 9:44Speaker 1: which is why I put it last. That's just stylistically,
- 9:48Speaker 1: it's just he's he's in his own back altogether. It's
- 9:53Speaker 1: not like I don't think you hear it and you go,
- 9:54Speaker 1: why is this year? But I think it's enough. You know.
- 9:58Speaker 1: My man Quartermain was to a rough of the album
- 10:01Speaker 1: and he was like, I don't know if this fits.
- 10:03Speaker 1: And while I disagreed on some level and I wanted
- 10:05Speaker 1: on the album, I took his advice that it didn't
- 10:07Speaker 1: fit in the middle of the project and I ended
- 10:09Speaker 1: up moving in along and now I like where it is.
- 10:11Speaker 1: But to me, Kevi, it's like, hopefully you know what
- 10:17Speaker 1: ends up coming across in this project is there are
- 10:19Speaker 1: people out there like, yeah, I can't fucking stand Rosenberg.
- 10:22Speaker 1: That guy sucks fuck him, Culture Vulture, piece of shit.
- 10:25Speaker 1: But you know, what. He put a nice album together.
- 10:28Speaker 1: He's got a good ear. This ship is cohesive, like
- 10:32Speaker 1: because that's that's honestly, that's my biggest source of pride
- 10:35Speaker 1: in it is that I just think it's like, this
- 10:38Speaker 1: does not sound like a soundtrack where you're like, why
- 10:41Speaker 1: is that song there? I think it you would believe
- 10:44Speaker 1: these artists were in some level of communication or right
- 10:47Speaker 1: right right, right right. Well, that's that's I think that's
- 10:50Speaker 1: the hardest part about doing the project like this is
- 10:53Speaker 1: like usually these types of projects, we love songs off
- 10:56Speaker 1: of them, but to like just press playing right out
- 10:58Speaker 1: like you know, there's there's like back in the day,
- 11:01Speaker 1: there was like the sound bombings, and there was there.
- 11:03Speaker 1: There has been great examples of that, but I feel
- 11:05Speaker 1: like lately we haven't really had a shining example, especially
- 11:09Speaker 1: when it comes to you know, the Boom bab shit.
- 11:11Speaker 1: I kind of look at every Static selected album is
- 11:13Speaker 1: a cohesive piece, you know, but he's the producer on them,
- 11:16Speaker 1: and he doesn't He's probably the best at putting albums
- 11:20Speaker 1: together that flow. And you know, again Static is an artist.
- 11:25Speaker 1: He actually is making the music. But as far as
- 11:28Speaker 1: just all which is both more impressive and also so a,
- 11:32Speaker 1: he's much more talented than me, of course, but also
- 11:35Speaker 1: he's got an easier task in terms of forming it
- 11:38Speaker 1: because it's his music. Yeah, he's making the beats, so
- 11:40Speaker 1: he knows. Yeah exactly. Yeah, yeah, you mentioned. I was
- 11:44Speaker 1: gonna say you mentioned the culture vulture thing. Do you
- 11:47Speaker 1: did you see the meme that they posted on Twitter?
- 11:49Speaker 1: And it was me and you and Adam twenty two
- 11:53Speaker 1: and Vlad. Someone posted like a meme of all four
- 11:57Speaker 1: of our photos and they said this is hip hop media.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Yeah yoo. That was fucking hilarious. They got the worst
- 12:05Speaker 1: photo of me ever. It was. I was like, oh,
- 12:08Speaker 1: God's worst. Not only was not only were was it
- 12:11Speaker 1: the idea of the photo, but then a bad picture
- 12:14Speaker 1: on top of it. My main issue that I took
- 12:16Speaker 1: with that was just like, I know there are people
- 12:20Speaker 1: who don't like me. I know I've said things that
- 12:23Speaker 1: people hold on to and rather thinking of something that
- 12:28Speaker 1: you may have done that they liked, or ten times
- 12:31Speaker 1: when that you did something they may have liked, they
- 12:32Speaker 1: remember that thing that made them not like you. But
- 12:37Speaker 1: like it was just such a lazy assessment, yo, Like
- 12:40Speaker 1: that was just of course I'll take you and I
- 12:44Speaker 1: being thrown in a category together because they're actually legitimate
- 12:47Speaker 1: similarities you could point to right right, right, right right,
- 12:50Speaker 1: And I don't know what their relationships are, so I
- 12:52Speaker 1: don't want to put you in a bad spot, but
- 12:54Speaker 1: where you'd get to comparing us to Adam twenty two
- 12:56Speaker 1: and Vlad and I get Adam twenty two and Vlad
- 12:59Speaker 1: going together because they get people to say some semi incriminating,
- 13:03Speaker 1: crazy shit like I get the whole op thing, but
- 13:07Speaker 1: you and I like two kind of DJ nerds right
- 13:10Speaker 1: right well, respectful of the music and culture. I just
- 13:13Speaker 1: don't That was such to me. That was a lazy
- 13:16Speaker 1: but very funny. It was funny. I just loved everyone
- 13:19Speaker 1: like was like defending it. I feel like everyone was
- 13:21Speaker 1: defending you and me on Twitter. It was so funny.
- 13:24Speaker 1: I was like, we got we got some defense for sure,
- 13:27Speaker 1: ye not these guys. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it was pretty funny.
- 13:30Speaker 1: It was pretty funny. Man. How's uh? You know it's
- 13:33Speaker 1: crazy because for people who don't know, man, you legitimately
- 13:36Speaker 1: do two full radio shows every day, which is extremely impressive,
- 13:40Speaker 1: and it also has to be very taxing for your bandwidth,
- 13:44Speaker 1: Like how how how hard is that? Man? Because I know,
- 13:48Speaker 1: just doing a four hour morning show alone's got to
- 13:51Speaker 1: you know, at the end of it. You know, for
- 13:54Speaker 1: people think that we just sit in front of a mic,
- 13:55Speaker 1: but it is, you know, we we have to be
- 13:57Speaker 1: mentally in the game, you know what I mean. And
- 13:59Speaker 1: you got to do that twice. How do you deal
- 14:01Speaker 1: with that? Man? Well, it is tiring and the bandwidth
- 14:07Speaker 1: thing is hard, and by the end of it you
- 14:11Speaker 1: can feel very finished. But I don't know. I try
- 14:17Speaker 1: to go to bed relatively early. I try to be
- 14:20Speaker 1: mostly healthy, right, you know, I'm not a big drugs
- 14:23Speaker 1: or alcohol guy. But although definitely during COVID it definitely
- 14:27Speaker 1: picked my my alcohol on the weekend definitely picked up,
- 14:29Speaker 1: of course, But you know, I'm very stone sober during
- 14:32Speaker 1: the week. I try to eat my salads all week long.
- 14:35Speaker 1: I try to catch naps when I can. You know,
- 14:37Speaker 1: I have ups and downs when it comes to the gym,
- 14:41Speaker 1: but you know, and listen. I also it's one of
- 14:44Speaker 1: the times, like I'm I'm I'm only able to do
- 14:47Speaker 1: both shows because I'm not the first mic on either show. True,
- 14:51Speaker 1: so I can sit back at times. And it's also
- 14:56Speaker 1: a good way to learn when to shut up, you know,
- 15:00Speaker 1: because that was a big part of radio that I
- 15:05Speaker 1: didn't understand for a really long time. I sit back
- 15:10Speaker 1: now way more than I used to. So like you
- 15:13Speaker 1: might hear a segment on with Ebro and Laura in
- 15:16Speaker 1: the morning where I don't say that much. Now I
- 15:20Speaker 1: sort of learned to have the spots where like, they
- 15:23Speaker 1: don't need my voice here, It's not gonna what am
- 15:26Speaker 1: I adding? So like, you know, Ebro and Laura are
- 15:29Speaker 1: talking about something that that they're both making an impact
- 15:32Speaker 1: on it. It's it's really effective. Am I going to
- 15:36Speaker 1: add to this? Or in this moment if I if
- 15:39Speaker 1: I add, is it at best not going to add
- 15:42Speaker 1: that much or at worst it's going to be like,
- 15:44Speaker 1: shut up, white boy, we didn't even need your take
- 15:46Speaker 1: on this. That's fair. So there and there's and obviously
- 15:49Speaker 1: there are conversations where that is true too. And you know,
- 15:53Speaker 1: I already had the time where I was like everyone
- 15:55Speaker 1: needs to hear my voice. Yes, I mean you have.
- 15:58Speaker 1: You're you're a very opinionated guy. Man, I'm an opinionated guy,
- 16:01Speaker 1: and I am the first person to try to teach
- 16:04Speaker 1: white people sometimes guess what, shut up? People don't need
- 16:09Speaker 1: to hear your voice fuck up. It's not every day.
- 16:15Speaker 1: Sometimes I really want it. I'm like, no, no, I
- 16:17Speaker 1: can contribute. This is somewhat useful, trust me, you know,
- 16:20Speaker 1: Like we have certain conversations, I'm like, well, you know,
- 16:23Speaker 1: when we had our COVID conversations and vaccine conversations, I
- 16:26Speaker 1: was quick away and be like, listen, I'm here to
- 16:28Speaker 1: tell people of the world if this is a plot
- 16:32Speaker 1: to hurt black people, which is a reasonable thought to have, right,
- 16:36Speaker 1: if that is true. I just want you to know
- 16:39Speaker 1: all the white people I know are taking it right.
- 16:44Speaker 1: We're all we're all in it together. Yeah, on this one.
- 16:47Speaker 1: So there, my voice was valuable. I can tell you
- 16:50Speaker 1: my experience. But in some situations, you know, and sometimes
- 16:52Speaker 1: as an ally my voice is useful. Sometimes it's not,
- 16:55Speaker 1: you know. And then on the case show, yo, soon
- 16:59Speaker 1: as we get in the subject and I'm like, I
- 17:00Speaker 1: just don't have a ton to contribute here, and I
- 17:02Speaker 1: don't want to be the person who's talking to how
- 17:04Speaker 1: my voice heard. I already have a lot of time
- 17:08Speaker 1: to talk right right right, you know. And then sometimes
- 17:10Speaker 1: they tell me, oh, we need to hear from you more,
- 17:12Speaker 1: you know, like, hey, we know you're not that into baseball.
- 17:14Speaker 1: But some of our audience, you're the reason they're here,
- 17:17Speaker 1: and if you don't talk about baseball, they're really not
- 17:19Speaker 1: going to give a fuck, right, So finding that balance
- 17:22Speaker 1: can be can be hard, but shit, sometimes you just
- 17:25Speaker 1: need to sit back and rest and well and then
- 17:26Speaker 1: you're also you also had a brief stint as the
- 17:30Speaker 1: twenty four to seven champion. You know what I mean.
- 17:33Speaker 1: I mean, I mean you call it brief, you know, brief,
- 17:36Speaker 1: classic media hate, you know, just tearing me down. You know,
- 17:39Speaker 1: you are like DJ Vlado. Thank you, thank you, thank you,
- 17:42Speaker 1: thank you. I'll take it shout out to Flad No.
- 17:45Speaker 1: But it's crazy because you know, I know how big
- 17:47Speaker 1: of a fan you are of wrestling and how inter
- 17:50Speaker 1: I mean, I give you credit over everyone, over any rapper,
- 17:55Speaker 1: over everyone, as far as bringing wrestling into the hip
- 18:01Speaker 1: hop space period, I was first. No, you were first. First.
- 18:05Speaker 1: I promise you were first, and promise I was first.
- 18:09Speaker 1: One hundred I love and you know, Willa is the
- 18:12Speaker 1: real deal. This is the real deal. Gun is the
- 18:15Speaker 1: real deal. Conway one hundred people. I don't want a
- 18:18Speaker 1: lot of people love hip hop, but no, you were first.
- 18:22Speaker 1: I may have not been, but I was definitely the first. Yeah,
- 18:25Speaker 1: and winning that title was it's gotta be. That's gotta be,
- 18:29Speaker 1: Like that might be. I can only imagine out of
- 18:31Speaker 1: everything you've done in your career, that has to be
- 18:34Speaker 1: like top two or three things like the fact you
- 18:38Speaker 1: held a title in the WWE that is insane to
- 18:42Speaker 1: say out loud. I know, no, and it's silly. It's
- 18:47Speaker 1: it's like that that for people who don't know, like
- 18:48Speaker 1: that title, the twenty four to seven titles, it's sort
- 18:51Speaker 1: of a comedic. It's funny. Yeah, like Gronk Gronk had
- 18:54Speaker 1: in however, yeah, like ROBN cows had it and they've
- 18:58Speaker 1: had you know, silly other broad casters get it for
- 19:01Speaker 1: two seconds, but like it does have a lineage though
- 19:05Speaker 1: it is documented, like it is written down. People know
- 19:07Speaker 1: who's had it. And And the craziest part about that
- 19:12Speaker 1: was that I thought it was gonna maybe be a thing.
- 19:14Speaker 1: I'd get an opportunity at the pay per view beforehand,
- 19:18Speaker 1: and then things were crazy and they're talk gonna happen.
- 19:20Speaker 1: I was like, okay, cool, and I'm like I don't
- 19:22Speaker 1: think this is ever gonna happen, to be honest with you,
- 19:24Speaker 1: so whatever, and then I get to the Royal Rumble
- 19:26Speaker 1: kickoff show and we're talking and they're like, hey, so
- 19:30Speaker 1: we're not gonna have time to get it on the
- 19:32Speaker 1: kickoff show. In my mind, I'm kind of relieved because
- 19:34Speaker 1: I'm like, I don't really know how'm gonna do this.
- 19:36Speaker 1: So I was like, Okay, cool, cool, cool, But I
- 19:38Speaker 1: think it's gonna happen during the main show. And I
- 19:41Speaker 1: was like, during the Royal Rumble pay per view, Right,
- 19:45Speaker 1: this is the pin that even if you're like a
- 19:48Speaker 1: lapsed fan, like like you watch it, you tune in
- 19:50Speaker 1: because yeah, because you like to watch the Royal Rumble. Yeah, watch,
- 19:54Speaker 1: like if you're even like you used to be a
- 19:56Speaker 1: wrestling fan or like now you're all indie, but you
- 19:59Speaker 1: like to on WW everyone watches the Rumble if you
- 20:02Speaker 1: have any ounce of love for wrestling in your blood.
- 20:05Speaker 1: So I was like, oh okay, and I really came
- 20:09Speaker 1: to have a new appreciation. I thought. I thought, being
- 20:12Speaker 1: as big a fan as I am and I know
- 20:14Speaker 1: you're a big fan like that, I already had all
- 20:18Speaker 1: the respect and appreciation that one could possibly have for
- 20:21Speaker 1: these people, And in having to do this basic thing,
- 20:29Speaker 1: the amount thought and practice, like I met that day practicing.
- 20:37Speaker 1: By the way, I still fucked it up. I did
- 20:41Speaker 1: the job, but like I did not do it the
- 20:43Speaker 1: way I was exactly supposed to on either account of
- 20:45Speaker 1: any of the things I did. And to think about
- 20:48Speaker 1: that they do it live all the time, like you
- 20:51Speaker 1: have one shot. Yeah, you got an idea. If you
- 20:53Speaker 1: fuck it up once, it's that's that's your only time
- 20:56Speaker 1: you get. Yeah. And and by the way, Our Truth
- 20:59Speaker 1: made very to me. He was like, if you botch
- 21:03Speaker 1: the pin, I'm kicking out. Wow. I've never actually said
- 21:08Speaker 1: that I through before. There you gotta give an exclusive
- 21:11Speaker 1: if I He was like, if you botch this, I'm
- 21:13Speaker 1: kicking out. You ain't getting the belt. You're not getting it.
- 21:16Speaker 1: You're just gonna And I was like all right. I
- 21:17Speaker 1: was like, well listen, I still tried, right, right, right right.
- 21:19Speaker 1: I don't want to disrespect the craft. If I can't
- 21:22Speaker 1: pull it off, that's what you should do, right. Dude
- 21:25Speaker 1: is so strong, Our Truth could have done anything he wanted.
- 21:31Speaker 1: Of course, he could have kicked out live back to
- 21:33Speaker 1: the desk. I mean, like he is, he's an athlete.
- 21:36Speaker 1: You know, you know how old our Truth is. I
- 21:39Speaker 1: assume he's old as shit because he has been around
- 21:42Speaker 1: Fever forever. But he just he just looks great. He's
- 21:47Speaker 1: got to be fifty. He's like fifty years old. Oh, yes,
- 21:50Speaker 1: say he's gotta be fifty. He's got to be fifty. Yeah.
- 21:53Speaker 1: When he wraps, he when he wraps, he sounds like
- 21:55Speaker 1: he's fifty. So I would assume fifty. You're an asshole, assle.
- 22:00Speaker 1: He looks dirty, but he raps, he's Yay, he's fifty
- 22:03Speaker 1: for sure. Yo. So you know, the one thing I
- 22:07Speaker 1: wanted to I wanted to get your take on something
- 22:09Speaker 1: that's obviously extremely controversial and polarizing at the moment, because
- 22:12Speaker 1: I've spoken with people from both sides, and I wanted
- 22:15Speaker 1: to kind of, you know, get your understanding of, uh,
- 22:20Speaker 1: what's going on, you know, in Israel and Palestine, because
- 22:23Speaker 1: you know, I've talked to artists like Belly and you know,
- 22:27Speaker 1: certain people who are extremely passionate, you know, on the
- 22:30Speaker 1: Palestinian side, and I've talked to some of my Jewish friends,
- 22:32Speaker 1: and you know, I always stay away from subjects that
- 22:36Speaker 1: I don't fully understand. And I think I might have
- 22:41Speaker 1: saw you weigh in on what Andrew Yank said. Maybe
- 22:44Speaker 1: I'm wrong on that. Yeah. So you know, for people
- 22:48Speaker 1: who don't know you're Jewish, what are your I guess
- 22:51Speaker 1: kind of what's your consensus or your thoughts about about
- 22:54Speaker 1: everything that's going on? Man, So this is an incredibly
- 23:01Speaker 1: uh complicated subject, and I'm not I'm not saying that
- 23:04Speaker 1: just like in a light generic way. You know. It's
- 23:08Speaker 1: a subject that's sort of like you know, dominated conversation
- 23:12Speaker 1: in my house, my whole life, you know, and like
- 23:17Speaker 1: I I went to Israel for the first time when
- 23:19Speaker 1: I was four years old. Israel is super important to
- 23:25Speaker 1: my family and to all Jews. However, uh, you know,
- 23:33Speaker 1: decency and and and and empathy and critical thinking can
- 23:40Speaker 1: can allow us to have a lot of love for
- 23:43Speaker 1: a place and still be critical. I Am not going
- 23:49Speaker 1: to oversimplify the entire thing, because the truth is Palestinians
- 23:53Speaker 1: have been marginalized. They've been in many situations just like garbage,
- 24:00Speaker 1: like just not treated in a in a humane way,
- 24:03Speaker 1: and it's it's sickening and upsetting and simultaneously, you know, Israel,
- 24:11Speaker 1: Israel's existence is important to the Jewish people, and there's
- 24:14Speaker 1: some people who don't agree with that inherently. They do
- 24:16Speaker 1: not believe Israel should should exist that that is a
- 24:19Speaker 1: real faction of people that exists. Unfortunately Hamas is in
- 24:22Speaker 1: that category. Right. So you have these people who have
- 24:26Speaker 1: been caught in a terrible position, the Palestinian people, and
- 24:31Speaker 1: we had opportunities at peace in the past with Robbin
- 24:35Speaker 1: and Arafat which were destroyed. And you know, now you
- 24:39Speaker 1: have a really complex circumstance. But the bottom line is this.
- 24:46Speaker 1: I hold the Israeli government to a high standard because
- 24:48Speaker 1: that's number one, because of the the the money, the power,
- 24:54Speaker 1: the organization, the US backing, and also because I'm Jewish
- 24:59Speaker 1: and and I believe in a Jewish state. So I
- 25:02Speaker 1: hold in my sense, my people, if you will, to
- 25:05Speaker 1: a standard. I'm not some person who believes you just
- 25:10Speaker 1: wave the flag of your country blindly or whoever willy
- 25:16Speaker 1: nilly like. I know this sounds silly and crude, but
- 25:19Speaker 1: I always go back to sports, and I know you're
- 25:21Speaker 1: a sports fan, Cami. So I love the Washington football
- 25:25Speaker 1: team so much. I hate the owner. I publicly tell
- 25:29Speaker 1: everyone I hate the owner. I want him to sell
- 25:32Speaker 1: the team. I don't want it to have anything to
- 25:33Speaker 1: do with the team. I first suggested and demanded the
- 25:37Speaker 1: name be changed like thirteen years ago or something on camera.
- 25:40Speaker 1: That was the first time publicly I still love the team.
- 25:44Speaker 1: I still rooted for the team while literally not wanting
- 25:48Speaker 1: them to even have their name. Sort of look at
- 25:52Speaker 1: the way we deal with our countries of origin the
- 25:55Speaker 1: same way. Just because you love Israel and see it's
- 25:59Speaker 1: existence as important does not mean you have to believe
- 26:04Speaker 1: in everything they do. And and also just because you're
- 26:11Speaker 1: a Palestinian does not mean that you do or should
- 26:16Speaker 1: ride with hamas right. So it's a it's a it's
- 26:20Speaker 1: a really bad situation. I think that Netsan Yahoo has
- 26:23Speaker 1: been generally terrible and generally I've some of my Jewish
- 26:28Speaker 1: friends have compared him to like if Trump won over there,
- 26:33Speaker 1: like he's extremely right wing, extremely He's only got right
- 26:36Speaker 1: wing over the years, right because became a winning thing
- 26:39Speaker 1: because we're seeing this whole like real real white nationalism
- 26:44Speaker 1: all across the world, and he's written with going further
- 26:48Speaker 1: right as the years have gone on. So you know,
- 26:54Speaker 1: how could if I if I felt the way I
- 26:56Speaker 1: felt about Trump, which was that he was an absolute
- 26:59Speaker 1: nightmare and the worst, and guess what, you can still
- 27:01Speaker 1: love America, by the way, and still feel that way, Yes,
- 27:04Speaker 1: exactly right. And now I understand it's complicated for Jews though,
- 27:08Speaker 1: right because when we start hearing Israel get criticized, the
- 27:12Speaker 1: history of the Jewish people isn't the same history as
- 27:14Speaker 1: a court of America one hundred percent. Yeah, America's like
- 27:18Speaker 1: America's like the white people of countries. Right, it's going
- 27:21Speaker 1: to be all right, Yeah. I think that the thing
- 27:23Speaker 1: that's that's that's hard is like, obviously, what I've noticed
- 27:27Speaker 1: is anyone who has spoke out against the actions of
- 27:30Speaker 1: the Israeli government, it seems as if they get labeled
- 27:34Speaker 1: right away as being an anti Semitic person. Well, the
- 27:38Speaker 1: thing is you look at each individual's person separately. That's fair.
- 27:42Speaker 1: But I mean I've seen I've seen, like I think
- 27:44Speaker 1: Dua Lipa they're trying to call her, you know, people
- 27:46Speaker 1: who have just made statements that's saying, you know, essentially, hey,
- 27:48Speaker 1: what's going on is wrong. It seems like that there's
- 27:50Speaker 1: there's like a narrative that goes right away on Twitter
- 27:54Speaker 1: or you know that these people are quote unquote anti Semitic.
- 27:57Speaker 1: And I think that everyone can be you know, critical
- 28:00Speaker 1: of you know, like you said, you could be critical
- 28:03Speaker 1: of a country or government's actions and still be with
- 28:06Speaker 1: the Jewish people, you know what I mean? And you know,
- 28:09Speaker 1: so I just think that. I just think it's important.
- 28:10Speaker 1: I just think it's important to people to say that, like,
- 28:12Speaker 1: because let me explain. Let me explain the other start,
- 28:14Speaker 1: even though I a lot of Jews hate me, because
- 28:17Speaker 1: I'm so, I care deeply about the well being of Palestinians.
- 28:21Speaker 1: And oh and by the way, I have someone who
- 28:23Speaker 1: I know in the music industry. I'll tell you off
- 28:25Speaker 1: the camera. I said, yeah, I was like, I don't
- 28:26Speaker 1: think I think Rosenberg system to Andrew Gang, they were like,
- 28:29Speaker 1: Rosenberg is a self hating Jew, and I was like,
- 28:32Speaker 1: Jesus Christ, like that's not true. But oh right, I'll
- 28:36Speaker 1: tell you. You might know the person. I'll tell you
- 28:38Speaker 1: who it is later, but not on camera. So exactly,
- 28:42Speaker 1: I get self hating Jew because I care about the
- 28:45Speaker 1: well being of Palestinians. But on the flip side of
- 28:47Speaker 1: that coin, because this is what this is what being
- 28:50Speaker 1: a measured, thoughtful person involved. Right as a Jew, when
- 28:55Speaker 1: you see a lot of people just putting up free Palestine,
- 28:58Speaker 1: and even though you agree with that sentiment, if you
- 29:02Speaker 1: know the person who posted that doesn't know shit about
- 29:05Speaker 1: the subject. It is uncomfortable, so it's hard to explain.
- 29:09Speaker 1: And then and then if you add even more to
- 29:11Speaker 1: that that you've also seen that person say something else
- 29:14Speaker 1: that seems a little you might start to be like, well,
- 29:18Speaker 1: do you really care about Palestine? And do you hate Jews?
- 29:19Speaker 1: Because let's not get a twist to people hate Jews
- 29:21Speaker 1: out here, so anti Semiticism is real. We're seeing in
- 29:24Speaker 1: the street, we see it in real look. So it's
- 29:26Speaker 1: a very uncomfortable thing to be honest, especially being someone
- 29:29Speaker 1: who thinks the Israeli government is wrong, who wants there
- 29:33Speaker 1: to be a peaceful solution. And I have Jews who
- 29:37Speaker 1: come after me and say I'm a self hater, and
- 29:39Speaker 1: then I have people on the other side who say
- 29:41Speaker 1: I'm a Zionist monster. It doesn't care. And the truth
- 29:43Speaker 1: is I deeply care about both. That's how I was raised.
- 29:47Speaker 1: You know that, that is what my my family evolved.
- 29:51Speaker 1: My dad used to be militant pro Israel, militant in
- 29:55Speaker 1: a time when it sends to be such. Things have
- 29:59Speaker 1: evolved and now the state of Israel's in a different place.
- 30:02Speaker 1: So you know, it's super uncomfortable but if you can't
- 30:04Speaker 1: be someone who's able to acknowledge that the Israeli government
- 30:08Speaker 1: is fucked up and that Harmas is fucked up. If
- 30:10Speaker 1: you're not able to acknowledge those things as possible, I
- 30:13Speaker 1: don't think we can have a reasonable conversation. That's fair, man. Well, yeah,
- 30:16Speaker 1: I just wanted to get your take because, like I said,
- 30:17Speaker 1: I know you're a very measured dude, and uh, you know,
- 30:20Speaker 1: I think that it's important that, like you said, I
- 30:24Speaker 1: think the way you just explained it is how everyone should.
- 30:26Speaker 1: That's why I having rush to say anything on it,
- 30:28Speaker 1: because I'm like, look, you know what, I don't fully
- 30:30Speaker 1: understand the entire history of what's going on, so, you know,
- 30:33Speaker 1: but not enough people will to admit that. They just
- 30:35Speaker 1: want to jump in on the conversation. And I get it.
- 30:37Speaker 1: You want to stand next to, you know, people that's
- 30:40Speaker 1: in a really bad shape and being maligned. I understand that.
- 30:42Speaker 1: But you should do the research also, and you should
- 30:44Speaker 1: understand why Jews care about Israel in the first place. Right,
- 30:47Speaker 1: So even if the government's fucked up and wrong you do,
- 30:51Speaker 1: you should understand why you feel it's so important to
- 30:56Speaker 1: have Israel in existence. You know, and by the way,
- 30:59Speaker 1: just to say the people that the self hate thing,
- 31:01Speaker 1: it's like, Yo, my name is Rosenberg, and I am
- 31:05Speaker 1: a public personality who has always openly talked about being Jewish,
- 31:09Speaker 1: always proudly, always. Hey, the whole entire tagline of the
- 31:13Speaker 1: morning show was a Puerto Rican and a Jew walking
- 31:15Speaker 1: to a radio station, exactly always labeled Jewish ju ju
- 31:20Speaker 1: juju ju, And I'm proud of it for sure. Anybody
- 31:23Speaker 1: who would ever fix their lips to say I'm self hating, like,
- 31:26Speaker 1: it's so absurd. When I'm a public front facing front
- 31:31Speaker 1: lines out there, I get called I have dealt with
- 31:34Speaker 1: anti Semitism regularly since the internet has even been a thing. Yes,
- 31:39Speaker 1: So it's so frustrating when you hear that because it's like, well,
- 31:42Speaker 1: so my opinion is different on Israel. And by the way,
- 31:46Speaker 1: have you even been to Israel? Right? Right? That's interested
- 31:50Speaker 1: with my dad. So my dad had these takes on
- 31:52Speaker 1: Israel and these thoughts, and like he's arguing with people
- 31:54Speaker 1: who Israel so important to them, but they've never been
- 31:57Speaker 1: My dad's been like forty fifty times. That's really where
- 32:01Speaker 1: he spent time. And he has to argue with people
- 32:03Speaker 1: who love Israel in theory, and he's like, no, no no,
- 32:06Speaker 1: I love the actual place like I love the place. Listen,
- 32:09Speaker 1: we got about four minutes left before you got to
- 32:11Speaker 1: hop on the air. I wanted to ask you this
- 32:13Speaker 1: because I've evolved over the years when it comes to
- 32:18Speaker 1: I like to call it radio gang banging. You know
- 32:20Speaker 1: what I'm saying. I used to be one of these
- 32:22Speaker 1: guys who would, uh, whatever radio station I was on,
- 32:26Speaker 1: it was fuck the other station, fuck the other DJs.
- 32:29Speaker 1: It was yeah, exactly, And obviously, Hot and Power in
- 32:33Speaker 1: New York is the quintessential radio beef always, even when
- 32:39Speaker 1: I feel like it's calming down this past week or
- 32:43Speaker 1: so with the the funk flex bringing up the old,
- 32:47Speaker 1: but it's I bring it up because I'm really close
- 32:51Speaker 1: with Charlemagne. I'm really close with you. Charlemagne is somebody
- 32:54Speaker 1: who's done so much for my career as far as Yeah,
- 32:59Speaker 1: he's a lot for me personally. And both of you
- 33:03Speaker 1: guys are amazing people. I know both of you guys,
- 33:08Speaker 1: but what like y'all just don't fuck with each other,
- 33:12Speaker 1: like what I understand that, Like, you know, to help
- 33:16Speaker 1: me understand, will there ever be a conversation between you
- 33:19Speaker 1: two or or you know, because I think at the
- 33:21Speaker 1: end of the day, we've definitely had conversations. We've definitely
- 33:25Speaker 1: had personal, in person, real life conversations. I would go
- 33:28Speaker 1: as far as saying we even at a period where
- 33:30Speaker 1: we were like cordial because we ran into each other
- 33:33Speaker 1: a bunch of times without speaking on the greater Charlemagne issues, right,
- 33:42Speaker 1: and the allegations and the things that Kwame Brown's been
- 33:46Speaker 1: talking about. Although I sometimes cannot understand how good he's
- 33:50Speaker 1: been a navigating those things. It's it's almost mind blowing.
- 33:53Speaker 1: You do almost believe an Illuminati, but removing that I
- 33:58Speaker 1: actually have tried on multiple occasions. I know this sounds crazy,
- 34:01Speaker 1: like I really did reach out on multiple occasions for
- 34:04Speaker 1: causes bigger than us, for us to come together, and
- 34:07Speaker 1: he shpited on me. So at that point I no
- 34:10Speaker 1: longer wish it will I definitely did at some point.
- 34:14Speaker 1: I've went through a lot of stuff in my life
- 34:16Speaker 1: over the last couple of years. I no longer spend
- 34:18Speaker 1: time thinking about him in that way. But I will
- 34:21Speaker 1: tell you pre twenty sixteen election, I reached out about
- 34:26Speaker 1: us getting together getting together for voting stuff because I
- 34:30Speaker 1: thought it would make a big impact to see us
- 34:32Speaker 1: all come together and no interest. You know. Ebro ran
- 34:36Speaker 1: into him at a Colin Kaepernick thing. Ebro was like,
- 34:39Speaker 1: let's take a picture together. This is for CAP's cause
- 34:42Speaker 1: he wouldn't do it, you know, And then he'll turn
- 34:44Speaker 1: around and flip the story later. But that's the reality,
- 34:48Speaker 1: you know. Yeah, I don't spend time thinking about him
- 34:52Speaker 1: in a negative way anymore. With regards to me personally,
- 34:54Speaker 1: I don't. I don't. I don't know him. I think
- 34:58Speaker 1: there's a lot of shit that I disagree you with,
- 35:00Speaker 1: you know, fundamentally. I was watching an episode of Sam
- 35:04Speaker 1: Jay's news show. She was talking to this black conservative
- 35:07Speaker 1: about why they're Republicans and the two things they mentioned.
- 35:10Speaker 1: They were like, well, I don't want to candidate who says,
- 35:14Speaker 1: if you're not voting for me, you're not black. And
- 35:16Speaker 1: I don't want a candidate who's like if I need
- 35:19Speaker 1: to have hot sauce in my bag. I was like, damn.
- 35:21Speaker 1: Both those things came from breakfast club interviews. Both reasons
- 35:24Speaker 1: that you hate the Democrats came from breakfast club interviews.
- 35:28Speaker 1: What the fuck are y'all doing? Yeah, but that's not
- 35:30Speaker 1: their fault that those things were said, Oh, it's never
- 35:34Speaker 1: their fault, it's never to be. You can't put that
- 35:37Speaker 1: on that way. It just ends up that way that
- 35:40Speaker 1: Kamala Harris ended up looking bad for the twupot gap,
- 35:42Speaker 1: and it just was coincidence that Biden got out of
- 35:45Speaker 1: swords and then he said something dumb and Hillary Clinton
- 35:48Speaker 1: might in fact be from Arkansas and keep sauce in
- 35:50Speaker 1: her back. But I'm just saying those things all happen. Well,
- 35:54Speaker 1: that means that I can't help a cut a promo
- 35:56Speaker 1: because I'm in wrestling. But you're right. The truth is
- 35:59Speaker 1: I don't have any ill will. It used to be
- 36:01Speaker 1: close with Angela. We're not anymore. Nothing but love for ends.
- 36:05Speaker 1: I don't. I don't. I don't wish ill will on anyone.
- 36:07Speaker 1: I really don't. Well, look, you gotta you gotta skate
- 36:09Speaker 1: off and do a radio show, sir. Uh. We could,
- 36:12Speaker 1: we could have done a few hours. But we'll wait
- 36:14Speaker 1: for you when you come to La. We'll do it.
- 36:17Speaker 1: We'll do it big. Yeah, you know, we'll have beverages,
- 36:20Speaker 1: we'll do the whole thing. Right. All right, brother, it
- 36:21Speaker 1: sounds good man. Have a good day, and thank you
- 36:23Speaker 1: for your time. The album is out next Friday, right,
- 36:26Speaker 1: my guy, It sure is June fourth, real late. Thank you,
- 36:28Speaker 1: keV yes, sir,
