- 0:06bosses and our everything. We thank you God for another
- 0:08day. We thank you God for life
- 0:10abundant. We thank you God for giving us
- 0:12purpose and dignity and honor. God, thank you, Lord, that you
- 0:17love us and that you chose us. Lord, thank you that where you
- 0:20are we will be. God, we pray that you'll rain
- 0:23down your Shekinah glory today. God, that you will be well
- 0:27pleased with the reading of your text.
- 0:29God, we pray for the world at large.
- 0:31God, snatch those out of the fire.
- 0:34Lord, I pray that we could snatch them out of the icy
- 0:37waters. God, I pray that as we go
- 0:39through this life, Lord, that we will be a blessing to others.
- 0:43We'll be salt and light to others.
- 0:45God, that we'll be able to put our hand to the plow.
- 0:49Never look left or right, but always God locked eyes with you
- 0:53in the harvest. Lord, I pray that we will see
- 0:56that the fields are right. Lord, let us not leave anything
- 1:02hanging on the branch. God, let us go and pluck.
- 1:05God, let us go and share our testimony with every single man,
- 1:09woman and child that we meet. God, I pray that our hearts will
- 1:13be bent towards you, Father, that we will be marked by you
- 1:17Lord, and that we will actually do the work that you've called
- 1:21us into and that we will actually be found, God, doing
- 1:24what it is that you have called us into.
- 1:26God, you are so good. You are so holy.
- 1:28You are so mighty and we love you Father, we love everything
- 1:31about you and it's in King Jesus name that we pray, Amen.
- 1:38Let's start in verse one. And Abram went up out of Egypt,
- 1:43he and his wife and all that he had and lot with them into the
- 1:47South. So we have learned in the past
- 1:50that Abraham's already gone down into Egypt and God's already
- 1:53spoke to him and told him to go to Canaan and he was going to
- 1:56make him into a nation. And here he's bringing along
- 2:00some extra baggage in the fact that he has a lot with them.
- 2:03And we're going to see that this relationships about to turn sour
- 2:06too. And Abram was very rich in
- 2:09cattle and silver and gold. So that was a byproduct of his
- 2:13time down in Egypt. And you can see that God didn't
- 2:17excuse it, but he's using three. And he went on his journeys from
- 2:21the South even to Beth El unto the place where his tent had
- 2:25been at the beginning between Beth El and high.
- 2:28So this is the House of God, this Beth El friends, what an
- 2:32amazing thought that God is in it.
- 2:34He is working through all of the mess that Abram has made.
- 2:39We see that this is where Sarai would have got her servant
- 2:45Hagar, which is such a cantankerous woman in the faith
- 2:52of God, not part of the plan. And you see that it was in the
- 2:57disobedience of Abram. There's so much that's still
- 3:01plaguing the world today, friends.
- 3:04For unto the place of the altar which he had made there at the
- 3:071st, and there Abram called on the name of the Lord.
- 3:11So there he is, calling on God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and
- 3:14Jacob. Yahweh is who we serve, the God
- 3:17of Israel. Five And Lot also, which went
- 3:21with Abram, had flocks and herds and tents. 6 And the land was
- 3:26not able to bear them, that they might dwell together, for their
- 3:30substance was great, so that they could not dwell together.
- 3:34So they saw that there was so much fighting.
- 3:36There was saw that there was so much animosity.
- 3:40And here there's got to be a line in the sand, and there's a
- 3:43division that's made. Seven And there was a strife
- 3:46between the herd men of Abraham's cattle and the herd
- 3:49men of of lots cattle, and the Canaanite and the Perizzite
- 3:53dwelled then in the land. So they're looking upon these
- 3:56two men who were supposed to be housing the faithfulness of the
- 4:02Creator of the universe. And they look no different than
- 4:05the rest of them, which is a call for us Christians to make
- 4:10sure that our lives look different than the rest of the
- 4:13world. 8 And Abram said to Lot, let there be no strife, I pray,
- 4:20between me and you, and between my herdman and your herdman, for
- 4:24we are brothers. So here Abrams trying to be the
- 4:29voice of reason 9 is not the whole land.
- 4:34Before you separate yourself, I pray you from me.
- 4:38If you'll take the left, then I will go to the right.
- 4:40If you go to the right, I will go to the left.
- 4:43So here you can see that Abram stepping out on faith.
- 4:47This is one of the first times that you see him activate this
- 4:50father of faith status and he's trusting God here and he tells
- 4:56lot. Whatever way you want to go,
- 4:58I'll go the other way. That way we can still remain
- 5:01copacetic, we can still remain fluid, so that we do not have to
- 5:07depart from each other with a rock in our shoe.
- 5:11Tin and Lot lifted up his eyes and beheld all the plain of
- 5:16Jordan that was well watered everywhere before the Lord
- 5:20destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the Lord,
- 5:24like the land of Egypt as you come unto Zoar.
- 5:27So there's a couple things that are pretty interesting here.
- 5:30And you can see that Sodom and Gomorrah was like the city of
- 5:34God. It was like paradise.
- 5:36It was like the Garden of Eden, very watered.
- 5:39And what an amazing thought. And so here Lot is, and he
- 5:42chooses the better he's he sidesteps his uncle and he's
- 5:47gone on to Sodom and Gomorrah. Let's see how it turns out. 11
- 5:53Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan.
- 5:56And Lot journeyed east and separated themselves from one
- 5:59another. 12 And Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot
- 6:03dwelled in the cities of the plain and pitched his tent
- 6:07towards Sodom. So we learned later that Lot
- 6:12became even one of the elders in the city.
- 6:20He would have been like a politician there.
- 6:23And we know that later on in Hebrews it's going to say that
- 6:26Lot's heart was grieved because of all the disgusting things
- 6:30that he saw going on in Sodom and Gomorrah. 13 And the men of
- 6:35Sodom were wicked and sinners before the Lord exceedingly.
- 6:39It sure didn't take us very long from the time that he flooded
- 6:43the earth until you see Sodom and Gomorrah pop up and they're
- 6:48going after strange flesh and it is an abomination to God
- 6:53Almighty. 14 And the Lord said to Abram, after that Lot was
- 7:01separated from him, lift up now your eyes and look from the
- 7:05place where you are northward and southward and eastward and
- 7:10westward. So he says, don't even worry
- 7:13about Lot. I've made this promise to you.
- 7:18It doesn't even matter what land Lot has gone to, it's all yours,
- 7:22Abram, North-south, east, West. Now that Lot's gone, I can talk
- 7:29to you, 15 for all the land which you see.
- 7:33To you I will give it, and to your seed forever.
- 7:38So the entire world, friends, every continent, every people
- 7:44group, every nation, every tongue, every language is
- 7:47blessed from the Jews because of Jesus.
- 7:56That is what is referenced here. 16 And I will make your seed as
- 8:02the dust of the earth, so that if a man can number the dust of
- 8:05the earth, then shall your seed also be numbered.
- 8:08Innumerable, friends, more than the stars, more than the sand on
- 8:13the seashore, innumerable. This is the beauty of heaven.
- 8:21And God knows the full number that will be there. 17 Arise and
- 8:27walk through the land, and the length of it and the breadth of
- 8:30it. I will give it unto you.
- 8:32Nothing is impossible for a mighty God who created it and
- 8:36sustains it by His very breath. We must come under the yoke of
- 8:43the Lord Jesus. Burden nonetheless.
- 8:48But it is easy. Do not trust your own senses.
- 8:56Trust in the Word of God. It is trustworthy, it is true.
- 9:04You'll never be put to shame. We'll end on 18.
- 9:08Then Abraham removed his tent and came and dwelt in the plain
- 9:11of Mamre, which is in Hebdon, and built there an altar to the
- 9:16Lord. So he's finally starting to
- 9:19understand the goodness of God. He's starting to get the
- 9:22blessings from God. He's moving in obedience.
- 9:26Friends, we see a turning point here.
- 9:29We see that all of the garbage that has happened all the way up
- 9:33to this point is taking a turning point and God's going to
- 9:37start spelling out Jesus the solution to all the problems in
- 9:43all the world for all time's sake, for all of eternity.
- 9:49I pray that you've been blessed. I pray that you are saved.
- 9:52I pray that Jesus Christ is your Lord.
- 9:55I pray that the Holy Spirit dwells inside of you.
- 9:58I pray that you know you're the temple of God.
- 10:01I pray that you understand your worth in Jesus Christ and is all
- 10:07that we need and that is all that we have.
- 10:10And you can't take anything with you, but you can send it ahead.
- 10:17Store up for yourselves treasures in heaven.
- 10:19We're just passing through. I hope you've been blessed by
- 10:22this chapter. I know I sure have.
- 10:24I'm praying for every single one of you.
- 10:26I love you. We'll see you back here
- 10:28tomorrow. God bless you.
