- 2:25Speaker 2: can be anonymous.
- 2:26Speaker 1: Uh So, somebody called in about Welcome to platvill.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Yeah, we got kind of an interesting speak pipe from
- 2:34Speaker 2: a person named Claire, and it's about Olivia motherfucking plaid.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Oh God, are you gonna be okay?
- 2:40Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 2:40Speaker 3: All right, Hi, Beatrice and Delia. This one of your
- 2:44Speaker 3: listeners overseas and Brussels representing from far, far, far away.
- 2:50Speaker 3: So my question is about Olivia. Of course, controversial as
- 2:55Speaker 3: she is, I can't hope but like her sometimes and
- 2:59Speaker 3: I I'm torn because I don't know how I would
- 3:04Speaker 3: have acted in her situation, specific things like Mama Plath
- 3:07Speaker 3: and the gravesite. Of course, totally differently. I would have
- 3:11Speaker 3: handled that totally differently, like no question. But if you
- 3:15Speaker 3: were in her shoes, how would you have approached growing
- 3:19Speaker 3: out of that cult mentality and being part of a
- 3:24Speaker 3: family where the parents fundamentally did not agree with who
- 3:28Speaker 3: you were or you being part of their family at
- 3:30Speaker 3: the end of the day. And while she was still
- 3:34Speaker 3: in love with Ethan, how would you have handled him
- 3:38Speaker 3: needing to be connected to his family while I guess
- 3:42Speaker 3: distancing yourself in a mature, responsible way.
- 3:46Speaker 1: So thank you, great question, Yeah, very great. So do
- 3:51Speaker 1: you want to answer first?
- 3:52Speaker 2: You go first.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Okay, So here's the thing. I have a lot of
- 3:56Speaker 1: respect for Olivia's process of deep gramming and deconstructing. I
- 4:02Speaker 1: think when she got married to Ethan, she was still
- 4:05Speaker 1: one hundred percent in the Borg. She was in the
- 4:07Speaker 1: cult cult, but while she was married to Ethan, she
- 4:11Speaker 1: started to pull away from her previous beliefs. However, that
- 4:16Speaker 1: was probably pretty taboo to do while she was embedded
- 4:19Speaker 1: with the Plaths. And so I believe Olivia when Olivia
- 4:23Speaker 1: says that they said she had demons in her Oh
- 4:26Speaker 1: for sure. I believe Olivia when she says that they
- 4:30Speaker 1: were very disapproving of who she was and her choices.
- 4:34Speaker 1: And so I have a lot of compassion for Olivia.
- 4:37Speaker 1: At the same time, I happened to believe that Olivia
- 4:41Speaker 1: grew up her childhood was essentially very toxic. We heard
- 4:45Speaker 1: Lydia Grace say last year that Olivia was essentially an
- 4:49Speaker 1: arm of her parents. Was very manipulative, particularly with Lydia Grace.
- 4:54Speaker 1: And so as she's waking up from her CULTI bullshit,
- 4:57Speaker 1: she's also still in gauging her innate toxic patterns. Oh yeah,
- 5:03Speaker 1: And so I think that she's trying to figure out
- 5:06Speaker 1: both at the same time, and I think as she's
- 5:09Speaker 1: trying to pull away, she's calling up the stuff that
- 5:12Speaker 1: she knows and the stuff that she knows how to
- 5:14Speaker 1: use from her I guess, toxic childhood. So I think
- 5:19Speaker 1: as we go along, what I'm hoping is that Olivia
- 5:23Speaker 1: just keeps getting better and better. I think what we've
- 5:27Speaker 1: seen so far in this season, she seems lighter, she
- 5:30Speaker 1: seems happier, she seems more open. At least in the show.
- 5:35Speaker 1: She doesn't seem like she's on such a campaign against
- 5:38Speaker 1: Ethan or the Plaths, at least not yet. We're on
- 5:40Speaker 1: episode three, so she seems to be in a really
- 5:42Speaker 1: good place, and so I hope she's facing those inner
- 5:46Speaker 1: motivations that she has that I think are pretty dark
- 5:50Speaker 1: and problematic. But I don't see that on social media,
- 5:54Speaker 1: because she's always blaming somebody else, and she's always kind
- 5:57Speaker 1: of trying to curate her own image so that she
- 5:59Speaker 1: seems is blameless. And she's also always pandering, in my opinion,
- 6:05Speaker 1: to certain cults of personality and group think, and I
- 6:08Speaker 1: kind of clock that, but that is also a sign
- 6:10Speaker 1: of immaturity. She's in process. I look at Olivia and
- 6:13Speaker 1: I think this girl is in process, So I have
- 6:18Speaker 1: a lot of respect for what she has done, and
- 6:20Speaker 1: I think she has a lot of work still to do. Yeah,
- 6:23Speaker 1: that's my position personally, What about you, I.
- 6:25Speaker 2: Think that's fair. And I mean I don't think that
- 6:28Speaker 2: there's any like right or wrong way to like exit
- 6:31Speaker 2: a cult or like deconstruct and deprogram yourself from this
- 6:35Speaker 2: fundamentalist religion. So like I don't judge her or condemn
- 6:39Speaker 2: her for her process and that and like how she
- 6:41Speaker 2: may have messed up or said some dumb things or whatever.
- 6:45Speaker 2: I think the issue I have with Olivia is that
- 6:48Speaker 2: she kind of expected everyone else to kind of do
- 6:51Speaker 2: it the same way she did because she felt like
- 6:54Speaker 2: the way that she did it was right and that
- 6:56Speaker 2: everyone else should follow with her because if they don't,
- 7:00Speaker 2: then they're still close minded or whatever. And then she
- 7:03Speaker 2: put herself kind of like on this pedestal of like
- 7:06Speaker 2: moral authority because she did leave this fundamentalist cult, like, oh,
- 7:10Speaker 2: I'm kind of better than everybody else because I'm more
- 7:12Speaker 2: open minded and progressive. And that's where like I have
- 7:14Speaker 2: the problem with that, because everybody, just everybody's journey is different,
- 7:19Speaker 2: and like you can't like force someone like Ethan, who's
- 7:22Speaker 2: so fucking stuck in his ways and so set in
- 7:27Speaker 2: his beliefs and his political beliefs, to come along with you.
- 7:31Speaker 2: And I know that's like painful, that sucks, like when
- 7:34Speaker 2: your spouse doesn't want to come on this journey with you,
- 7:37Speaker 2: and so, like, I know she kind of had to
- 7:39Speaker 2: grapple with that and like accept that as her reality,
- 7:42Speaker 2: but she still kind of tried to force him to
- 7:45Speaker 2: go along, right.
- 7:46Speaker 1: She employed those malignant tactics in her relationships, and that's
- 7:51Speaker 1: the part that is problematic.
- 7:53Speaker 2: Yeah, And then in terms of like how she handled
- 7:56Speaker 2: her stuff with the Plaths, like I can't I'm like
- 8:00Speaker 2: be marrying into a family and then changing as a
- 8:03Speaker 2: person and then having your entire family completely disown you
- 8:06Speaker 2: and say that you have demons in you. Like that
- 8:08Speaker 2: fucking sucks, of course obviously, and I'm super isolated, psychologically abusive,
- 8:12Speaker 2: of course, one hundred percent, But like you can choose
- 8:16Speaker 2: to completely separate yourself from that family without also expecting
- 8:20Speaker 2: your husband to cut off all of the ties with
- 8:22Speaker 2: that family as well. Like that was where my issue
- 8:25Speaker 2: has always been with Olivia, that she couldn't have grace
- 8:29Speaker 2: for Ethan to try and figure out his own relationships
- 8:32Speaker 2: with his family on his own, because that's his family,
- 8:35Speaker 2: that's his shit to deal with. She can separate herself
- 8:38Speaker 2: in a healthy way and be like, I'm not going
- 8:39Speaker 2: to be a part of them, I'm not going to
- 8:41Speaker 2: interact with them. I don't want anything to do with them,
- 8:44Speaker 2: and let Ethan do whatever he needs to do in
- 8:47Speaker 2: his context.
- 8:48Speaker 1: Yeah, but at the same time, you're dealing with literal
- 8:50Speaker 1: kids whose brains aren't fully developed. And I think Olivia
- 8:54Speaker 1: in this situation is probably being and or feeling retraumatised
- 9:00Speaker 1: by this family totally, Like we don't know what was
- 9:02Speaker 1: happening with Kim and Barry and Olivia and Ethan before
- 9:06Speaker 1: the show started. Like if you listen to the way
- 9:08Speaker 1: Olivia describes it again, it was pretty psychologically and spiritually
- 9:12Speaker 1: abusive toward her. So I just feel I don't know,
- 9:18Speaker 1: I just feel like she's growing up. I feel like
- 9:21Speaker 1: that's great. I feel like Ethan is also growing up.
- 9:24Speaker 1: And one sentiment I see online quite a lot is
- 9:27Speaker 1: like people just cheerleading for Olivia, like she can do
- 9:31Speaker 1: absolutely no wrong. There's no nuanced conversations about how she
- 9:35Speaker 1: might have participated in family dynamics, whereas they can see
- 9:39Speaker 1: no good in Ethan nothing, And I think we see
- 9:41Speaker 1: in this episode, like case in point, he is I
- 9:45Speaker 1: think opening up to his own emotions. He's admitting that
- 9:50Speaker 1: he doesn't know how to feel, which I think is
- 9:52Speaker 1: such a big deal. Yes, and we've actually talked about it.
- 9:55Speaker 1: We think he does feel he just doesn't know how
- 9:57Speaker 1: to deal with his own emotions. Like he's actually starting
- 9:59Speaker 1: to rest this. He's talking about family dynamics, he's talking
- 10:03Speaker 1: about his mother and making these interesting connections. This is
- 10:06Speaker 1: the kind of stuff that I really want to see
- 10:09Speaker 1: more of from Ethan and also from Olivia. Like, I know,
- 10:12Speaker 1: you don't really want Olivia on the show. You're like,
- 10:16Speaker 1: you're redundant, Why are you here? Why are we going
- 10:18Speaker 1: on your single girl journey? Whereas I kind of like
- 10:21Speaker 1: to see the aftermath of her pulling away, the process
- 10:24Speaker 1: of her deconstruction and also finding herself, finding like a
- 10:27Speaker 1: new normal. I personally do think that that's interesting, But
- 10:31Speaker 1: I also want to see that for Ethan, and I
- 10:34Speaker 1: feel really good seeing it for him and Barry.
- 10:37Speaker 2: I agree, yeah, and even Mariah, well, I mean, Mariah
- 10:39Speaker 2: is not necessarily deconstructing. She's going back to she is
- 10:42Speaker 2: this faith, but she is kind of changing her whole personality,
- 10:48Speaker 2: even the way that she looks, which is kind of
- 10:50Speaker 2: interesting to see, like compared to teenage Mariah, especially with
- 10:54Speaker 2: like her little booty shorts and now she's like, I
- 10:56Speaker 2: want to be more modest for God. It's like, it's
- 10:58Speaker 2: just interesting to see. Doesn't mean I necessarily agree with
- 11:01Speaker 2: her her life choices and how she's handling all of this.
- 11:05Speaker 2: I just want to see more of that, right, all
- 11:06Speaker 2: of them. And I guess Olivia it's just like I
- 11:10Speaker 2: think Olivia and Lydia Grace's segments feel a little.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Forced, Yeah, like definitely feel produced.
- 11:15Speaker 2: They don't feel authentic to me. And that's where I'm just.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Like snoring, Yeah, And that's a problem that we're having
- 11:22Speaker 1: across the board.
- 11:23Speaker 2: Though.
- 11:23Speaker 1: I think the one person who's giving it the most
- 11:26Speaker 1: authentically is probably Ethan because he's copping to his depression.
- 11:31Speaker 1: He's singing a song about self deletion, I know, and
- 11:36Speaker 1: he's singing it on national television and in front of
- 11:38Speaker 1: his family. Like that was so heavy. We'll get there, yeah,
- 11:42Speaker 1: in the conversation. But I think we're seeing a lot
- 11:44Speaker 1: from Ethan, and I'd like to see more of that
- 11:47Speaker 1: realness from Olivia. But I personally, and I say again,
- 11:51Speaker 1: I think she's doing I think she's doing well. I
- 11:53Speaker 1: think she's deconstructing well. But I think she's so intelligent,
- 11:56Speaker 1: and I think right now her intention is good and
- 12:01Speaker 1: she's intelligent, smart, beautiful, She's making her own money, she's
- 12:04Speaker 1: got her own business. I think the world is her oyster.
- 12:07Speaker 2: Totally, as she's going to the bar in Scottsdale and
- 12:09Speaker 2: that blazer hunt.
- 12:10Speaker 1: As a realtor selling Scottsdale.
- 12:14Speaker 3: Real.
- 12:15Speaker 1: See, So let's get into the episode. You ready, Yeah,
- 12:18Speaker 1: thank you. By the way, what was her name again,
- 12:20Speaker 1: Claire Claire? Yes, thank you, Russells. Oh my god, I
- 12:22Speaker 1: feel international, an international raccoon.
- 12:25Speaker 2: That's awesome.
- 12:26Speaker 1: Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate it.
- 12:28Speaker 2: Yeah, it's awesome. So yeah, I mean, let's start at
- 12:30Speaker 2: the beginning of the episode with Olivia and Lydia Grace
- 12:33Speaker 2: because we kind of start there in Squatsdale, Arizona used
- 12:37Speaker 2: to live out, Yes you did. I'm kind of mad
- 12:40Speaker 2: that Lydia Grace moves there when I move away from there,
- 12:43Speaker 2: because that would have been so cool. If I could
- 12:45Speaker 2: have ran into Olivia and Lydia Grace in public, what.
- 12:49Speaker 1: Would you have done? You would have pulled out your
- 12:51Speaker 1: monocle totally just stared at them from the booth across
- 12:54Speaker 1: the way. Yeah, and maybe.
- 12:55Speaker 2: Worked up the courage to try and get a picture,
- 12:58Speaker 2: just so I could say I got to me Olivia
- 13:00Speaker 2: and Lydia.
- 13:01Speaker 1: Oh my god, what a family.
- 13:02Speaker 2: I know, I'm so cringe. But anyway, So there Olivia
- 13:06Speaker 2: is visiting Lydia Grace and Scottsdale. She just moved there
- 13:09Speaker 2: post her breakup from her It's gonna be really mean
- 13:12Speaker 2: jelly filled boyfriend. Wow, I'm sorry.
- 13:18Speaker 1: And so you go to a gym for like two
- 13:20Speaker 1: months and now nobody can say anything to seven months whatever.
- 13:25Speaker 1: But like now all of a sudden, you're the authority
- 13:28Speaker 1: on how bodies should look.
- 13:29Speaker 4: I feel a bit.
- 13:30Speaker 1: I know, I'm very nobody was CJ.
- 13:35Speaker 2: Yeah yeah he was.
- 13:36Speaker 5: He.
- 13:37Speaker 2: I mean, Lydia Grace could have done way better. So
- 13:40Speaker 2: good for her. Okay, they're single ladies. They're getting ready
- 13:44Speaker 2: for a night on the town and they're talking about
- 13:49Speaker 2: like flirting and Dayton and Olivia's like, I don't know,
- 13:54Speaker 2: I don't know what to do. It's my first time
- 13:56Speaker 2: going to the bar, it's my first time being single.
- 13:58Speaker 2: I don't know what to.
- 13:59Speaker 1: Do, Okay, And how do you feel about that, Beatrice,
- 14:03Speaker 1: It looks like you're feeling some kind of white Well.
- 14:06Speaker 2: I just am kind of questioning like when this was filmed,
- 14:08Speaker 2: because I'm pretty sure she's dating her boyfriend at this time.
- 14:11Speaker 2: So it's like, I don't know if she's like faking
- 14:14Speaker 2: this whole single thing or if she actually is just
- 14:16Speaker 2: being awkward and like doesn't know what to do. Either way,
- 14:20Speaker 2: I'm kind of cringing a little bit. But you know,
- 14:23Speaker 2: good for them, Like, yeah, have fun.
- 14:25Speaker 1: They go out to the bar, which looks like a
- 14:29Speaker 1: corporate place for food and drinks in old town. Yeah,
- 14:33Speaker 1: and they sit down and they're having conversations, and they
- 14:37Speaker 1: meet a couple of productions men men exactly. I've been
- 14:41Speaker 1: given probably one hundred dollars to go over there and
- 14:43Speaker 1: talk to those two women and introduce yourself and offer
- 14:46Speaker 1: to buy them drinks. And I don't know what to
- 14:50Speaker 1: think or feel because I was kind of bored.
- 14:52Speaker 2: I guess it's very bored.
- 14:53Speaker 1: Somewhat interesting listening to the girls talk about their time
- 14:57Speaker 1: in rural Virginia, where Olivia lets us know that she
- 15:01Speaker 1: spent nine years milking the cow versus Lydia Grace's one year,
- 15:06Speaker 1: So she really was kind of living the same sort
- 15:09Speaker 1: of life as the Plath kids. Yeah, out on that farm,
- 15:12Speaker 1: which I thought was interesting. I personally, even though Olivia
- 15:15Speaker 1: refers to herself as awkward, I thought she was charming.
- 15:19Speaker 1: I thought she was pretty. I thought she was classy
- 15:22Speaker 1: in her Realtor blazer and go for it. More power
- 15:26Speaker 1: to you girls.
- 15:27Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean both of them are totally gorgeous. I
- 15:29Speaker 2: thought it was weird how like Lydia Grace is making
- 15:32Speaker 2: like insulting comments to Olivia, like calling her awkward and weird,
- 15:37Speaker 2: and how she flirts and Olivia gets a little like
- 15:41Speaker 2: offended by it, but like plays it off like it's whatever,
- 15:44Speaker 2: Like we're just sisters.
- 15:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't mind being awkward. Well, and as you
- 15:48Speaker 1: watch Lydia Grace when they're both being filmed in their
- 15:51Speaker 1: interstitials or they're talking heads, she's like never looking at Olivia.
- 15:55Speaker 1: She's kind of always looking away with a stony face,
- 15:59Speaker 1: And I'm like, Lydia Grace, do you even like your sister?
- 16:02Speaker 1: I kind of feel like you don't necessarily like her,
- 16:06Speaker 1: you just want to be on camera or you just
- 16:07Speaker 1: want to be on the show.
- 16:09Speaker 2: Right, And that's why I feel like their storylines are
- 16:12Speaker 2: kind of forced and weird. Like I mean, I don't
- 16:14Speaker 2: mind seeing Olivia if she's like by herself, but like,
- 16:17Speaker 2: I don't know why we have to have her like
- 16:19Speaker 2: family members in there, Like when we had Nathan last season,
- 16:23Speaker 2: and I'm like, why are you guys talking to him
- 16:25Speaker 2: if he's homophobic and all this stuff, Like it doesn't
- 16:28Speaker 2: make any sense. So I don't know. All of it's
- 16:31Speaker 2: kind of weird, and I just want more authenticity from Olivia,
- 16:34Speaker 2: Like I'd like to see her photography business, and she's
- 16:36Speaker 2: making all this money if.
- 16:38Speaker 1: She's dating, she'd like how she's dating, who she's dating,
- 16:41Speaker 1: I'd love. Maybe we're gonna get some more of that.
- 16:43Speaker 1: Although I think I saw Olivia in an interview it
- 16:47Speaker 1: might have been with Pink Shade, in which she says
- 16:49Speaker 1: that we might see the guy she's currently dating toward
- 16:53Speaker 1: the end of the show mm hmm. And so that's
- 16:55Speaker 1: going to be something that we'll have to wait for.
- 16:57Speaker 1: I don't know what she's going to be doing for
- 16:59Speaker 1: the rest of the season other than like talking to
- 17:02Speaker 1: Ethan negotiating their divorce and reacting to that. I don't
- 17:06Speaker 1: I don't know what her storyline is going to be.
- 17:08Speaker 2: I don't know either, And a lot of people are
- 17:10Speaker 2: criticizing why she's even on the show, Like everybody's like
- 17:14Speaker 2: like me being like yourself. Well, there's a lot of
- 17:17Speaker 2: people on Instagram that are like, get off my TV,
- 17:20Speaker 2: like you're so boring, and they're a lot more mean
- 17:22Speaker 2: than I am. But I guess. Olivia went on a
- 17:24Speaker 2: podcast like just yesterday and she said that the only
- 17:27Speaker 2: reason why she's on season six was because her TLC
- 17:30Speaker 2: contract dictated that she was so apparently she couldn't get
- 17:34Speaker 2: out of the contract or something. But I'm like, I
- 17:36Speaker 2: feel like you wanted to be on tea.
- 17:37Speaker 1: Well, somebody else on Reddit said that it's an actual
- 17:40Speaker 1: condition of the show that Olivia be a part of it,
- 17:44Speaker 1: like when they were shopping the show. I think Olivia
- 17:47Speaker 1: was helping Kim to do that because it was Kim's
- 17:49Speaker 1: vision for the family to get a show like The
- 17:51Speaker 1: Duggers or like John and Nate plus Kate. I don't know,
- 17:56Speaker 1: but when they wrote up the contracts and when they
- 17:58Speaker 1: wrote up the deal for this show, it was IMPI
- 18:00Speaker 1: that Olivia be a part of it because perhaps at
- 18:02Speaker 1: the time she was already starting to dissent in the family,
- 18:05Speaker 1: and that was kind of the dynamic that TLC wanted
- 18:08Speaker 1: to explore, And quite frankly, that's the dynamic that I
- 18:12Speaker 1: want to explore, is this deconstruction of fundamentalism, this deconstruction
- 18:16Speaker 1: of faith as it affects all of them, because Mariah
- 18:18Speaker 1: went through her version of it and now she's reconstructing it,
- 18:21Speaker 1: and that's interesting. I don't agree with it necessarily, but
- 18:24Speaker 1: I want to know more about that piece of it.
- 18:26Speaker 1: I want to get into Lydia Plath and what she's
- 18:29Speaker 1: doing and how she's feeling, because now she's talking about
- 18:31Speaker 1: going to college, and I'm like, are you talking about
- 18:33Speaker 1: a liberal arts college? Because after four years that's interesting
- 18:38Speaker 1: to me. Most interesting, however, would be to be fucking
- 18:42Speaker 1: real with Kim Plath, because Kim was the mama who
- 18:48Speaker 1: visited all of this religious bullshit, and so did Barry
- 18:51Speaker 1: onto these children. She's the one that actually administered it,
- 18:55Speaker 1: and now here she is as a criminal somebody who's
- 18:59Speaker 1: had it. Do you why now she's drinking now she's
- 19:02Speaker 1: a legit legal not legal but like spiritually legal adulter room. Totally.
- 19:07Speaker 1: That's an interesting storyline to me, Like, let's talk to
- 19:10Speaker 1: Kim about that. But Olivia said in another interview like
- 19:14Speaker 1: that they are absolutely gagged. They can't talk about the Deuy,
- 19:17Speaker 1: they can't talk about any of that stuff. And maybe
- 19:19Speaker 1: that's a condition of Kim's contract. I don't know, but
- 19:22Speaker 1: if i'm production, I'm like, that's the story. That's the
- 19:26Speaker 1: good stuff. Now you're gonna make us get our fucking
- 19:29Speaker 1: monocles out and with our fake psychic intuition figure out
- 19:33Speaker 1: what's really happening in this family.
- 19:34Speaker 2: No shit, and fill the episode with stupid stuff like
- 19:37Speaker 2: going to a bar in Scottsdale or even like Barry
- 19:41Speaker 2: and the boys going to the gym. I mean that
- 19:42Speaker 2: was cool, but like cue, it's still filler though, you know,
- 19:45Speaker 2: like I want some of the juicy drama Lama stuff.
- 19:49Speaker 2: And then the only other thing that came out of
- 19:51Speaker 2: Olivia and Liddy Grace, like this is her last night
- 19:53Speaker 2: in Arizona and they go on a hike and watch
- 19:56Speaker 2: the sunset, and Olivia's talking about how she's not really
- 20:00Speaker 2: to go back to Minnesota and deal with Ethan's bitch
- 20:03Speaker 2: ass and calls him unpredictable, which I thought was interesting
- 20:08Speaker 2: because Kim said he was unpredictable later in the episode.
- 20:11Speaker 2: So just think it's interesting how they're both using the
- 20:13Speaker 2: same terminology to describe how.
- 20:15Speaker 1: Do you think they mean it?
- 20:17Speaker 2: Like, they don't expect him to be emotional, and then
- 20:19Speaker 2: he gets emotional, But he gets emotional because he bottles
- 20:22Speaker 2: everything up to the point where it explodes, and then
- 20:25Speaker 2: he can't help but just unleash it, all.
- 20:29Speaker 1: Right, And they can't really determine where he is in
- 20:32Speaker 1: the process of emotional repression or explosion, so they're like,
- 20:36Speaker 1: we don't know what Ethan's going to do. When Olivia
- 20:39Speaker 1: in the first episode of this season pops in on
- 20:42Speaker 1: him as a surprise and he gets pissed. Yes, he
- 20:45Speaker 1: slams his hands down on the chair. He's angry about it.
- 20:48Speaker 1: So that's probably some of that unpredictability.
- 20:52Speaker 2: Yes, agreed. And then after Scottsdale, we head on over
- 20:56Speaker 2: to the gym with the bros. And it's Barry Micah
- 21:01Speaker 2: Isaac who's so handsome, God so handsome.
- 21:04Speaker 1: Were only three years younger, Oh my god, I would
- 21:07Speaker 1: totally be sliding into his Does he have DMS?
- 21:10Speaker 2: Is the honestly, I.
- 21:11Speaker 1: Would be slidden in an old.
- 21:13Speaker 2: Like on milf manor.
- 21:16Speaker 1: Yes, that would be perfect. Oh my god, he's so cute.
- 21:20Speaker 2: He is so handsome. So we got Micah, Isaac and Barry. Yeah,
- 21:26Speaker 2: and they all go in in the conga line to
- 21:28Speaker 2: the gym, and they're all fucking jacked, especially Barry freaking
- 21:32Speaker 2: bench pressing ninety pound dumbell. I'm like, bro, yeah, it's
- 21:36Speaker 2: bad ass, fifty five year old man.
- 21:39Speaker 1: That's so awesome. His own sons can't do the same.
- 21:41Speaker 1: I know, Yeah, that was great. Mike Hah tried but
- 21:44Speaker 1: he couldn't do it.
- 21:45Speaker 2: And he got all offended by it too insecure. But
- 21:47Speaker 2: I'm like, this is great. I thought I like that
- 21:50Speaker 2: they were bonding. People said this was super cringe with
- 21:53Speaker 2: them flexing in the mirror and stuff, which I.
- 21:55Speaker 1: Can see how like some people might have second hand embarrassing.
- 21:58Speaker 1: But when you look at it from a little bit
- 22:00Speaker 1: of a meta position, and you look at Barry, and
- 22:02Speaker 1: you look at the history of this family and how
- 22:04Speaker 1: they're all coming together, the boys for Barry bonding with Barry,
- 22:09Speaker 1: it's also very wholesome. Yeah, I thought it was actually
- 22:12Speaker 1: kind of sweet. I liked it too.
- 22:14Speaker 2: And then we have Mariah and Lydia going through Mariah's
- 22:19Speaker 2: crazy closet, yeah, and getting rid of her clothes. And
- 22:23Speaker 2: this was cool because I think this is like the
- 22:24Speaker 2: first time we've seen Lydia on the season so far, right,
- 22:27Speaker 2: And she looks gorge.
- 22:28Speaker 1: She looks beautiful, and I was wondering what looked different
- 22:31Speaker 1: about her. And then there's a flashback where Lydia is
- 22:34Speaker 1: talking about a boy that she was dating last year,
- 22:37Speaker 1: and I noticed that her eyebrows in the flashback were
- 22:40Speaker 1: quite a bit lighter. Yeah, and so she's rocking a
- 22:43Speaker 1: darker brow. She's got some darker eyeliner that's applied well
- 22:47Speaker 1: unlike her mother Kim, which will get to when we
- 22:49Speaker 1: get to Marina. Oh my god. But like she's really
- 22:52Speaker 1: strikingly beautiful.
- 22:54Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 22:55Speaker 1: All these children, it's crazy, I know, stupping all of
- 23:00Speaker 1: these children. All of these children are beautiful.
- 23:02Speaker 2: Yes, I agree, one percent. And she's just got back
- 23:05Speaker 2: from her mission trip where she was traveling the country
- 23:08Speaker 2: for Jesus and she was traveling all over everywhere we
- 23:11Speaker 2: see him montage, She's like it was so much fun.
- 23:14Speaker 2: I've got the travel bug. And she talks about her
- 23:18Speaker 2: boyfriend that I thought we were gonna meet on this season.
- 23:21Speaker 1: Was it Max?
- 23:22Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 23:24Speaker 2: We saw the back of his head. Yeah, that's all
- 23:26Speaker 2: we get because he broke her heart.
- 23:28Speaker 1: He was a man of God. Oh it's probably nineteen.
- 23:32Speaker 1: He's not even a man. He's certainly not a man
- 23:35Speaker 1: of God. As soon as he gets a little bit
- 23:37Speaker 1: of that Poonani, he's gonna be like every other man
- 23:39Speaker 1: out there.
- 23:39Speaker 2: Welcome to the world, Welcome to the real world. So
- 23:42Speaker 2: I'm sad that we didn't get to meet her special man.
- 23:46Speaker 1: And then it's Jesus.
- 23:48Speaker 2: Now, it's Jesus.
- 23:49Speaker 1: It's been Jesus the whole time.
- 23:51Speaker 2: The number one man. Yeah. And then they're talking about
- 23:55Speaker 2: getting rid of some of Mariah's skimpy clothing because Mariah's like,
- 23:59Speaker 2: I'm grown up on this. I'm a mature lady now
- 24:02Speaker 2: and I want to be more honest.
- 24:04Speaker 1: And she doesn't say any of those things. She says
- 24:07Speaker 1: this basically, she says, this is what you are inferring,
- 24:09Speaker 1: which is I think where the conversation could go, and
- 24:11Speaker 1: I think we should get into it. Because she does
- 24:13Speaker 1: refer to wanting to get rid of some of the
- 24:15Speaker 1: clothes that sixteen year old Mariah wore, very skimpy, lots
- 24:19Speaker 1: of straps, little, you know, patches of cloth that cut
- 24:22Speaker 1: across the kuchikuchie cutters. And so now obviously she's of
- 24:27Speaker 1: a different mindset, and I'm wondering, do you think that
- 24:30Speaker 1: this is connected to her newfound faith? Do you think
- 24:34Speaker 1: this is because maybe she's becoming self aware, like Ai,
- 24:38Speaker 1: she becoming sentient and realizes how ridiculous that all was.
- 24:42Speaker 1: Why do you think this is happening?
- 24:43Speaker 2: Oh? I get that because she posts on Instagram saying
- 24:46Speaker 2: that that's why she's doing it is for God.
- 24:48Speaker 1: Oh okay, well I didn't know that.
- 24:49Speaker 2: Yeah, sorry, I should have added the context of just
- 24:52Speaker 2: talking about my biggest No. She went on Instagram a
- 24:56Speaker 2: couple of weeks ago. I think it was a video
- 24:58Speaker 2: she posted or something where she's like, yeah, I've just
- 25:00Speaker 2: realized that I wasn't dressing for God, and so now
- 25:02Speaker 2: I want to dress more for God. Don't dress more modestly.
- 25:06Speaker 2: And she got a lot of hate for it, and
- 25:08Speaker 2: she's like, well, you guys just doing her theme a
- 25:10Speaker 2: journey as of forgiven rebel so like just shut up.
- 25:14Speaker 2: So that's basically why I'm saying this, Like she's getting
- 25:17Speaker 2: rid of her skimpy clothing. She wants to be more
- 25:19Speaker 2: modest because she wants to be a woman of God.
- 25:22Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, that's that's interesting. That that is how she
- 25:26Speaker 1: is explaining it to me. That's what I intuited. Yeah,
- 25:29Speaker 1: that's why she was doing it and wearing like a
- 25:31Speaker 1: yellow realtor blazing just like delicial with a bun on
- 25:34Speaker 1: her head. Like she's really kind of changed over the years.
- 25:38Speaker 1: And I you know, I don't really want to criticize
- 25:41Speaker 1: her for dressing modestly. I think that that's absolutely her choice.
- 25:44Speaker 1: I just worry about her because she goes gung ho
- 25:48Speaker 1: into things and she doesn't really think about it. Like
- 25:51Speaker 1: she just moved the fuck out of the house. She
- 25:52Speaker 1: didn't really say goodbye. You know, she got all of
- 25:55Speaker 1: these tattoos on her body, and a lot of that
- 25:57Speaker 1: work is not very good and now it's on your
- 26:00Speaker 1: body for the rest of your life. And just she
- 26:02Speaker 1: kind of changes herself very sweepingly frequently. Yeah, but maybe
- 26:07Speaker 1: that's because she's a kid. That's what she's gonna do.
- 26:09Speaker 1: I kind of like her now though she seems a
- 26:11Speaker 1: bit calmed down, much more respectful, much more open to
- 26:15Speaker 1: other people's opinions, not just her own. She was very
- 26:18Speaker 1: self absorbed as a young woman, and so she seems
- 26:21Speaker 1: to be coming out of that, which I applaud. I know,
- 26:24Speaker 1: in this scene with Lydia, they talk about potentially going
- 26:28Speaker 1: to college together, like they're both considering getting an education.
- 26:33Speaker 1: And this is gonna launch me into another freaked out
- 26:37Speaker 1: tangent and a reiteration because I've already screamed about this
- 26:40Speaker 1: on the Internet before, which is like, this is the
- 26:42Speaker 1: biggest offense that I hold against Kim and Barry. Barry
- 26:47Speaker 1: doesn't get off Scott Free. Barry has his fucking master's degree.
- 26:51Speaker 1: He went to college. He got his masters. Yeah, Kim
- 26:55Speaker 1: went to college. I assume she got her bachelor's or whatever.
- 26:59Speaker 1: And then we see Kim a few seasons ago actively
- 27:03Speaker 1: discouraging Mariah from going to college because she doesn't wanted
- 27:07Speaker 1: to be I don't know, in a liberal arts situation
- 27:10Speaker 1: opened to diverse thoughts. She doesn't want Mariah to go
- 27:14Speaker 1: into dead and she thinks it's a big scam, and
- 27:17Speaker 1: I'm just like, oh my god, you guys get the
- 27:19Speaker 1: benefit of having this great education and now Barry, you
- 27:23Speaker 1: have this wonderful job that provides you multiple properties, multiple
- 27:27Speaker 1: streams of income, and yet you've hobbled your kids with
- 27:31Speaker 1: no education. Don't even help them to get a fucking
- 27:34Speaker 1: ged Ethan doesn't know how to use an ATM two
- 27:38Speaker 1: last season, two seasons ago. Doesn't know how to use
- 27:40Speaker 1: an ATM or read a menu. Honey, Like that part
- 27:44Speaker 1: about it pisses me off so bad, and I will
- 27:47Speaker 1: never forgive Barry for it. And you can sit there,
- 27:50Speaker 1: you know, with your kids as they're playing their guitars,
- 27:52Speaker 1: and you can feel so good in that moment, but
- 27:54Speaker 1: look at your adult kids and what they do not
- 27:57Speaker 1: have in this moment because you did not equip them
- 27:59Speaker 1: for the real.
- 27:59Speaker 2: World, right, and you didn't even allow them the choice.
- 28:02Speaker 2: Like it's like it's one thing to sit there and
- 28:05Speaker 2: say from your experience as a parent, like, look, I
- 28:07Speaker 2: went to college, but now I think it's bullshit. But
- 28:09Speaker 2: you can choose to go if you want. Maybe I
- 28:12Speaker 2: don't want to pay for it. Whatever, you need to
- 28:14Speaker 2: figure out your That's kind of like how I grew up,
- 28:16Speaker 2: Like my family was like it was an expectation for
- 28:18Speaker 2: me to go to college, but they also gave me
- 28:20Speaker 2: the option to not go and they didn't judge me
- 28:23Speaker 2: for it. And I have siblings who didn't go and
- 28:26Speaker 2: they were like whatever. My parents didn't talk down about it, though,
- 28:30Speaker 2: they didn't sit there and be like, oh, college is
- 28:32Speaker 2: a piece of shit scam, like you shouldn't go and
- 28:34Speaker 2: discourage us from making the choice, like we had the choice.
- 28:38Speaker 2: So that's where I'm annoyed with Kim an Berry for that,
- 28:41Speaker 2: because they just discouraged them from even going down that
- 28:45Speaker 2: route because they thought it was a waste of time.
- 28:46Speaker 1: Like they get to reap all the benefits of that,
- 28:48Speaker 1: but they don't pass that down to your children, like
- 28:50Speaker 1: you want your children to have better than you ever had.
- 28:52Speaker 1: And now look at Mica. He's digging trenches and building
- 28:55Speaker 1: fences and basically sucking up to his new controlling Kim
- 28:59Speaker 1: two point zero woman. He's a mechanic. He can work
- 29:03Speaker 1: on cars, and he can farm, I guess, but what
- 29:06Speaker 1: else can he do? Look at Lydia, I mean, I'm
- 29:09Speaker 1: happy you're into Jesus and everything, but like, what kind
- 29:12Speaker 1: of skill set do you have to get out there
- 29:14Speaker 1: and get a job that can provide for you in
- 29:16Speaker 1: this economy twenty twenty four, and I know you love
- 29:19Speaker 1: to sing, honey, And I realize nobody has ever disabused
- 29:22Speaker 1: any of these children of their talent. I'm here to
- 29:26Speaker 1: do it, but like that's it's not going to take
- 29:29Speaker 1: you anywhere. It's like your dad telling you when you're
- 29:31Speaker 1: nine years old, you're never going to be a star
- 29:33Speaker 1: beaddress ever, it's never going to work out, like fucking
- 29:36Speaker 1: hit the books for real, Jesus. I just it makes
- 29:41Speaker 1: me so upset because these kids are so crippled in
- 29:45Speaker 1: this economy and they don't really have resources to get
- 29:48Speaker 1: something started other than Micah being a model or being
- 29:51Speaker 1: an actor or television. But how long is this going
- 29:54Speaker 1: to last?
- 29:55Speaker 5: Right?
- 29:55Speaker 2: Exactly how many more seasons of platfill are they're going
- 29:57Speaker 2: to be? And there's a lot of people that are
- 29:59Speaker 2: calling for like the cancelation of the show because they
- 30:01Speaker 2: think this entire season is boring. I can't relate. I
- 30:03Speaker 2: think it's great.
- 30:04Speaker 1: I think it's great too, and we're only on episode three.
- 30:06Speaker 1: I don't don't you watch Sister Wives around episode five
- 30:09Speaker 1: hundred and the season five hundred unless they still.
- 30:12Speaker 2: To watch eighteen seasons like, you can't depend on this
- 30:15Speaker 2: ship forever. So I don't know. It'll be interesting to
- 30:18Speaker 2: see if they do choose to go to college. I'd
- 30:20Speaker 2: love to know what Lydia Plath's gonna major in.
- 30:23Speaker 1: Can I ask you a question? So, what's happening with
- 30:27Speaker 1: the education of the three littles, Amber, Cassia, and Mercy
- 30:31Speaker 1: because they're fifty to fifty with Kim and Barry. Kim
- 30:35Speaker 1: used to make Lydia homeschool there and now Lydia's traveling,
- 30:38Speaker 1: she's an adult. Barry works full time. I imagine Kim is
- 30:42Speaker 1: spending all of her time that she can with Ken
- 30:44Speaker 1: Palmer and a bottle of vodka. So are those kids
- 30:47Speaker 1: in public school? I don't know where are those kids
- 30:49Speaker 1: right now? Does anybody know is do they have maybe
- 30:52Speaker 1: a tutor? Or is Amber now the one in charge
- 30:55Speaker 1: of administering homeschooling?
- 30:58Speaker 2: Well? I think last season they we're still doing the homeschooling,
- 31:01Speaker 2: like Kim said she was doing it and Lydia was
- 31:05Speaker 2: helping her with it. But now that Lydia is out
- 31:06Speaker 2: of the house, Like, what is like Kim teaching them
- 31:10Speaker 2: on the houseboat?
- 31:12Speaker 1: Like are we at least putting them in school now
- 31:14Speaker 1: that we realize this has all been a sham and
- 31:16Speaker 1: you you can't even live this life. So are you
- 31:18Speaker 1: now helping these young children to get an education? Because
- 31:21Speaker 1: somehow I doubt it. Somehow I think they're administering their
- 31:23Speaker 1: own homeschooling and nobody's gonna help them even get a
- 31:26Speaker 1: ged big yikes, terrible.
- 31:30Speaker 2: I'd love to hear more about it.
- 31:31Speaker 1: Jame for shame, shame God.
- 31:35Speaker 2: And then speaking of kim Plath, we have the eldest kids, uh, Ethan, Micah,
- 31:40Speaker 2: and Mariah driving down.
- 31:41Speaker 1: To Florida because containing yourself.
- 31:43Speaker 2: What I'm not saying nothing. I'm not saying anything yet. Ethan, Micah,
- 31:48Speaker 2: and Maria are driving down to Florida because it's Ethan's
- 31:51Speaker 2: like last day or whatever in town before he goes
- 31:53Speaker 2: back to Minnesota.
- 31:54Speaker 1: Did you notice how Lydia didn't go.
- 31:56Speaker 2: Yeah, Lydia did not go.
- 31:57Speaker 1: Did you notice how Isaac didn't go? I was maybe
- 32:00Speaker 1: flying a plane or something.
- 32:02Speaker 2: Well, maybe they see the littles more so, it's not
- 32:04Speaker 2: like that big of ada. Maybe I don't know, but
- 32:07Speaker 2: they go down to Florida because they want to see
- 32:09Speaker 2: the littles, and therefore they have to see him, and
- 32:12Speaker 2: Ethan is a little weird about it. He's like, it's
- 32:15Speaker 2: the first time I'm going to see my mom in
- 32:16Speaker 2: like two years. I don't really know what to expect
- 32:20Speaker 2: because we didn't really leave things on good terms last time,
- 32:24Speaker 2: and we flashed back to theirs. I think it was
- 32:26Speaker 2: like not last season, but the season prior, where he's
- 32:28Speaker 2: having ice cream with her or something, and he's like
- 32:30Speaker 2: straight up popping off on her and telling her she's
- 32:32Speaker 2: a bad fucking mom, she's a piece of shit basically.
- 32:35Speaker 1: And do you have any remorse? And then she just
- 32:37Speaker 1: sits there and says nothing. If I recall correctly, She's
- 32:39Speaker 1: just like, well, I did the best that I could
- 32:41Speaker 1: with what I had at the time, bitch.
- 32:43Speaker 2: Ask such a lame excuse. So anyway, this whole drive
- 32:49Speaker 2: up there is intense. I could feel the anxiety on
- 32:53Speaker 2: Ethan just driving down there and like not really knowing
- 32:56Speaker 2: what to expect. But he's going down because he wants
- 32:58Speaker 2: to see his little siblings. I thought was cool because
- 33:01Speaker 2: I feel like Ethan two seasons ago would not have
- 33:03Speaker 2: done something like that, and he doesn't know what to
- 33:08Speaker 2: expect with Kim's houseboat, and then they arrive at the marina.
- 33:12Speaker 1: They do, and Kim is very nervous, very nervous, and
- 33:16Speaker 1: she doesn't know how Ethan is going to receive her.
- 33:19Speaker 1: And here again she refers to Ethan as unpredictable. So
- 33:24Speaker 1: Ethan gets out of the vehicle immediately starts hugging the
- 33:27Speaker 1: little girls, and then he goes in to hug Kim,
- 33:31Speaker 1: and Kim immediately gets emotional, which I found to be
- 33:34Speaker 1: interesting because Ethan tells the camera that Kim really wasn't
- 33:38Speaker 1: emotional and wasn't affectionate as a mother. She wasn't like
- 33:42Speaker 1: other moms in that way growing up. So for her
- 33:45Speaker 1: to have like such an emotional response that she would cry,
- 33:49Speaker 1: maybe that's meaningful. Maybe it's just narc performance, but maybe
- 33:53Speaker 1: it's meaningful.
- 33:55Speaker 2: I thought it was meaningful. I actually kind of got
- 33:57Speaker 2: emotional during this whole scene. And I'm going to go
- 34:00Speaker 2: uncensored for a little bit.
- 34:02Speaker 1: We'll go back to the regular pod. And you were
- 34:05Speaker 1: saying that you're hopeful that Kim can build a bridge,
- 34:11Speaker 1: figure it out, connect with Ethan.
- 34:13Speaker 2: Yeah, it seems like her emotional response to it his
- 34:17Speaker 2: hug was like it took her off guard, and she's like, well,
- 34:20Speaker 2: I know there's a lot of things that we still
- 34:21Speaker 2: need to talk about, but for right now, I'm going
- 34:23Speaker 2: to take what I can get, And I'm just like
- 34:25Speaker 2: happy that I could even get that from him, because
- 34:27Speaker 2: she was expecting like a handshake or like not even anything.
- 34:31Speaker 1: One thing that kind of disturbed me about this particular
- 34:34Speaker 1: scene was how she puts so much of the interaction
- 34:38Speaker 1: on Ethan without taking responsibility for the awkwardness herself. Like,
- 34:43Speaker 1: the reason that your son has all of these issues
- 34:46Speaker 1: with you, the reason that your son has not seen
- 34:48Speaker 1: you for two years is because he considers you to
- 34:51Speaker 1: have done a terrible job being his mother, and there's
- 34:54Speaker 1: a lot of wounds there. Like, So instead of saying, well,
- 34:56Speaker 1: I just don't know whether Ethan's going to be unpredictable,
- 34:59Speaker 1: just ever know what to expect, I might have also said, like, look,
- 35:03Speaker 1: there's been a lot that has happened between Ethan and I.
- 35:06Speaker 1: I've done a lot of things wrong, you know. I
- 35:08Speaker 1: really hope that this is an opportunity for us to
- 35:11Speaker 1: just begin the journey of coming back together and coming
- 35:15Speaker 1: into sort of a new understanding. Like I would have
- 35:18Speaker 1: just wanted to hear some of that maternal nurturing language.
- 35:23Speaker 1: But I think Ethan tells it to us when he
- 35:25Speaker 1: says that she's just not like that, and that's I
- 35:29Speaker 1: guess it's not surprising because I haven't seen a lot
- 35:31Speaker 1: of affection from Kim, but I have seen her over
- 35:34Speaker 1: the seasons try in her own way, like when she
- 35:37Speaker 1: bought or brought that big ass boat over to their
- 35:39Speaker 1: house as a housewarming present, right, whether she made attempts
- 35:42Speaker 1: to show up and they were awkward, Like, I can
- 35:45Speaker 1: see that it doesn't come naturally to her, but I
- 35:48Speaker 1: think the capacity is there because Ethan calls it out.
- 35:50Speaker 1: He's like, I don't even know if my mother is
- 35:53Speaker 1: capable of having a relationship with me, but if it's possible,
- 35:57Speaker 1: I would like to have one with her. Yeah. I
- 36:00Speaker 1: thought that was wonderful.
- 36:01Speaker 2: I thought that was so great. And again I relate
- 36:04Speaker 2: to him on that a lot. And like, there comes
- 36:06Speaker 2: a point in time when you grow up as like
- 36:08Speaker 2: a child, you like realize your parents kind of have
- 36:11Speaker 2: these limitations about them because of their own experiences and
- 36:14Speaker 2: like how they grew up and what they dealt with
- 36:17Speaker 2: from their fucked up parents, and so like you learn
- 36:21Speaker 2: as an adult like okay, I have to kind of
- 36:24Speaker 2: take what I can get from my family, like and
- 36:26Speaker 2: except that this is what they're capable of giving me.
- 36:29Speaker 2: And while that may not be like completely satisfying, it's
- 36:34Speaker 2: still like, Okay, my parents are human beings and that's
- 36:37Speaker 2: just all that they're capable of doing. So I liked
- 36:40Speaker 2: that he showed a little bit of that insight and
- 36:42Speaker 2: like related it back to himself when he was talking
- 36:45Speaker 2: about how it's so difficult for him to be vulnerable
- 36:48Speaker 2: and how he thinks he learns that from Kim because
- 36:51Speaker 2: she doesn't know how to really be vulnerable, maybe doesn't
- 36:53Speaker 2: even know how to feel those big emotions. So I
- 36:55Speaker 2: thought that was cool. And then with regards to Kim
- 36:58Speaker 2: not really taking any accountability for the awkwardness, I think
- 37:01Speaker 2: that just shows how like emotionally stunted and immature she
- 37:05Speaker 2: is because of her own crap. Like she's a traumatized
- 37:08Speaker 2: woman and she's obviously going through a midlife crisis and
- 37:12Speaker 2: eating a lot of sugar, so it's going to her brain,
- 37:16Speaker 2: you know what I mean?
- 37:16Speaker 1: No, Like, yeah, I understand what you're saying. But to me,
- 37:19Speaker 1: Kim doesn't get a pass because I come from a
- 37:21Speaker 1: very traumatized situation. And I'm not going to compare trauma,
- 37:26Speaker 1: but like, it was really fucking acute. But I spent
- 37:29Speaker 1: many years going to therapy and working on myself and
- 37:33Speaker 1: learning how to communicate in a way that another person
- 37:37Speaker 1: can receive, and learning how to demonstrate the love that
- 37:39Speaker 1: I feel for people and work on relationships like those
- 37:42Speaker 1: are not necessarily skills that are innate to us, to
- 37:46Speaker 1: most of us, like we have to learn how to
- 37:47Speaker 1: be in relationships with other people. And I don't see
- 37:50Speaker 1: any of that self starting, Like how can I heal
- 37:52Speaker 1: my family from Kim? I see self absorption from Kim.
- 37:56Speaker 1: I see I want to spend ninety percent of my
- 37:58Speaker 1: time with Ken Palmer getting drunk, fucking from Kim, I'm
- 38:01Speaker 1: gonna roll my car because I'm drinking and driving, Like
- 38:04Speaker 1: there's no there is no reason under the sun to
- 38:07Speaker 1: do such a thing. She's so self absorbed and driven
- 38:11Speaker 1: by her own desires. Yeah, and it's I don't feel
- 38:17Speaker 1: great for her relationships with these children as they get older,
- 38:20Speaker 1: because you're talking about Ethan and Kim to profoundly broken people,
- 38:26Speaker 1: and the origin of Ethan's trauma exists in the other person.
- 38:30Speaker 1: He's trying to connect with who cannot come to terms
- 38:33Speaker 1: with the shit that she's done. I think, I said
- 38:35Speaker 1: last week, I think she's disassociated all the fucking time.
- 38:38Speaker 1: She seems blank, She seems like she's just kind of there,
- 38:42Speaker 1: but mostly her consciousness is somewhere else. Because can you
- 38:45Speaker 1: imagine what it would be like to be Kim Plath,
- 38:48Speaker 1: with all of her intelligence to sit for a moment
- 38:52Speaker 1: in the reality of what you have done? Yeah, not
- 38:55Speaker 1: just like your religious trauma that you have inflicted on
- 38:58Speaker 1: these kids, but like by destroying the family and being
- 39:00Speaker 1: an adulteress and a drunk, Like to sit in the
- 39:03Speaker 1: reality of that, like would be terribly shameful and awful,
- 39:08Speaker 1: oh for sure. But the only way out is through,
- 39:11Speaker 1: and she's not even willing to do that. Like I'm
- 39:13Speaker 1: not hearing any accountability from Kim at all.
- 39:18Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, and that's a fair criticism, I guess.
- 39:21Speaker 2: I just look at her, like she was also in
- 39:24Speaker 2: this fundamentalist cult too, and she was in it young,
- 39:26Speaker 2: and then she had twelve thousand kids, like back to
- 39:30Speaker 2: back to back to back, and then one of them
- 39:32Speaker 2: she killed. I mean, you know what I mean.
- 39:35Speaker 1: But yeah, there's trauma that the trauma with all of that,
- 39:39Speaker 1: but it is incumbent upon her to initiate her own
- 39:44Speaker 1: healing process. The moment you know you're hurting other people,
- 39:47Speaker 1: you got to check yourself and take care of that.
- 39:48Speaker 1: When Ethan sits down with her in season four and
- 39:50Speaker 1: he says, you hurt me, like you didn't require me
- 39:53Speaker 1: to fucking do my homework. I didn't even get a ged,
- 39:56Speaker 1: like you made us think the first person we were
- 39:58Speaker 1: attracted to we had to marry, and that fucked up
- 40:01Speaker 1: my whole life. Like do you have any remorse for that?
- 40:03Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 40:04Speaker 1: And she's got nothing for him. Yeah, she's got nothing
- 40:07Speaker 1: for him.
- 40:08Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 40:09Speaker 1: So I mean, I'm sorry, you're fifty five or whatever, Kim,
- 40:13Speaker 1: Like you're old enough, despite your timeline, your childhood, your trauma,
- 40:18Speaker 1: to get the help that you need so you stop
- 40:20Speaker 1: hurting people, right, But I don't see her doing that.
- 40:23Speaker 1: I see maybe Ethan with some potential to become vulnerable.
- 40:28Speaker 1: He seems to recognize that his inability to be vulnerable
- 40:32Speaker 1: with Olivia, because every time he was, they fought because
- 40:35Speaker 1: he's expressing himself all of a sudden, and now she's
- 40:37Speaker 1: got something to work with, so they're fighting like that
- 40:40Speaker 1: inability to be vulnerable and to communicate is not going
- 40:43Speaker 1: to work in another relationship. So he's going to have
- 40:45Speaker 1: to figure it out. So he gets it, right, does
- 40:47Speaker 1: he realizes my brokenness affected my relationship? But I don't
- 40:52Speaker 1: get that from Kim. I don't get that she realizes
- 40:56Speaker 1: that her brokenness has caused all this.
- 40:58Speaker 2: Well, and like to your point earlier, like to have
- 41:00Speaker 2: to sit in the weight of like all of this
- 41:03Speaker 2: shit that she fucked up with would be tremendous, Like
- 41:07Speaker 2: it would be so hard to have to deal with
- 41:08Speaker 2: that and like humble yourself. So I think she just
- 41:10Speaker 2: doesn't want to deal with it. That's why she probably drinks.
- 41:13Speaker 2: That's why she's eating a lot of sugar.
- 41:14Speaker 1: That's why she's I think that's why she's gaining weight totally.
- 41:17Speaker 1: Does why deal with it? Like we said last week,
- 41:19Speaker 1: the body keeps the score. But honey, the least you
- 41:22Speaker 1: could do is figure out how to apply eyeliner. I mean,
- 41:26Speaker 1: I mean those those interstitials down at the marina, and
- 41:30Speaker 1: maybe she was crying, but her eyeliner is so freaking smudged,
- 41:33Speaker 1: which it always is. It's so freaking smudged. It's coming
- 41:36Speaker 1: down her face. Her lipstick is applied outside of her mouth,
- 41:40Speaker 1: and I'm like, good.
- 41:42Speaker 2: Well, and then she's wearing these fucking mini skirts where
- 41:45Speaker 2: she's showing all her ass and ain't nobody want to
- 41:48Speaker 2: see that except for maybe Ken Palmer, But like, keep
- 41:51Speaker 2: that to yourselves.
- 41:52Speaker 1: That's so I think that it's like a sporty squirt
- 41:55Speaker 1: or something. I think, stop it. She's just living her
- 41:58Speaker 1: best life, and I think you should let her be
- 42:01Speaker 1: a ch Jesus.
- 42:02Speaker 2: Oh, so now we got to let her live her
- 42:03Speaker 2: best life?
- 42:05Speaker 1: I mean whatever, I mean, can we really judge her
- 42:07Speaker 1: for being fat?
- 42:08Speaker 2: I can't.
- 42:09Speaker 1: I mean, I can't really judge her for that. I'm
- 42:11Speaker 1: not judging your phone, like judge her when she's walking
- 42:14Speaker 1: down the doc. I mean, the only obese person with
- 42:18Speaker 1: all of these children that you raised to not eat sugars,
- 42:21Speaker 1: super fucking athletic, like probably the prime of what physical
- 42:27Speaker 1: bodies should look like at their age, and like here
- 42:29Speaker 1: you are the only person in this whole family who
- 42:32Speaker 1: has probably seventy extra pounds on your body.
- 42:34Speaker 2: Like lady girl, Well, and isn't she like a natural
- 42:39Speaker 2: path or something. Isn't she like a natural.
- 42:42Speaker 1: Doctor online degree to be a natural path? So she
- 42:46Speaker 1: could probably sell some MLM bulls, probably girl, some green
- 42:49Speaker 1: juice or whatever.
- 42:51Speaker 2: God uh, But yeah, I thought Ethan when he was
- 42:56Speaker 2: talking about his inability to be vulnerable was like super
- 42:59Speaker 2: fucking interesting. And I loved how he talked about how
- 43:03Speaker 2: he wouldn't be able to have these relationships with the
- 43:06Speaker 2: Littles or Kim or the rest of his family because
- 43:09Speaker 2: of Olivia, and now he gets to have the relationships
- 43:13Speaker 2: that he sees fit and that his inability to be
- 43:16Speaker 2: vulnerable damaged their marriage because he would just become resentful
- 43:20Speaker 2: and blow up. But I thought it was interesting how
- 43:22Speaker 2: any he says anytime he became vulnerable it turned into
- 43:26Speaker 2: a fight. So do you think that's because she would
- 43:28Speaker 2: take it personally like anytime he had big feelings or
- 43:31Speaker 2: he was exploding on her and she felt like that
- 43:34Speaker 2: was abusive.
- 43:34Speaker 1: He might have been explosive in the way that he
- 43:36Speaker 1: communicated it, and or he's expressing himself and how he
- 43:40Speaker 1: really feels, and this might be the first time Olivia
- 43:43Speaker 1: even hears it, and so she's going to interact with
- 43:45Speaker 1: the information that she receives, and maybe that makes him
- 43:49Speaker 1: defensive and it becomes a fight. So don't I don't
- 43:54Speaker 1: really know, he seems like somebody who's always bottling everything
- 43:57Speaker 1: up and doesn't know how to talk at all. Just
- 44:00Speaker 1: be a mute already, I mean, just be a mute,
- 44:02Speaker 1: Go be a monk. Just sign it's fine.
- 44:07Speaker 2: Oh god. And then the other thing that came out
- 44:10Speaker 2: of this whole meet up at the marina was Kim
- 44:14Speaker 2: showing everybody the house bow and how she's like, oh, yeah,
- 44:16Speaker 2: by the way, it doesn't run, so it just sits
- 44:19Speaker 2: here and rots in the marina, and.
- 44:20Speaker 1: It's literally a dump. And these poor girls have to
- 44:25Speaker 1: go there every other week for like fifty percent of
- 44:27Speaker 1: the time. Beatrice, I don't even.
- 44:29Speaker 2: Know if they go for every week or if it's
- 44:31Speaker 2: like every few days. Why.
- 44:32Speaker 1: I think in the divorce papers that Barry filed it
- 44:34Speaker 1: was fifty to fifty, So I think that they buried
- 44:36Speaker 1: down for an entire week. And I think they've been
- 44:38Speaker 1: living on that booty ass house boat that doesn't run,
- 44:42Speaker 1: and that's terrible for them. I feel bad for them.
- 44:46Speaker 2: Why.
- 44:46Speaker 1: I'm wondering why, like she can afford to rent a
- 44:50Speaker 1: little apartment in wherever Florida is that they're living, Like,
- 44:53Speaker 1: why would you want the boat?
- 44:55Speaker 2: I don't understand that's why I want to know more
- 44:57Speaker 2: about that. And I'm like, why would you buy a
- 44:59Speaker 2: house is because of your DUI like, are you hiding
- 45:02Speaker 2: the fact because you lost your car or something? I mean,
- 45:05Speaker 2: I'm just like, I don't know.
- 45:07Speaker 1: Somebody said maybe it was on Reddit or somewhere that
- 45:10Speaker 1: her mother had a house boat she grew up on,
- 45:14Speaker 1: spent some time, Yeah, on a house boat. So maybe
- 45:16Speaker 1: it's like this unconscious attempt to reconnect to the parts
- 45:20Speaker 1: of the trauma that are trying to impair her more.
- 45:23Speaker 1: Maybe it's just something that she bought so that she
- 45:26Speaker 1: could put her kids in there while she goes and boinks.
- 45:28Speaker 1: Kim Palmer, girl, I don't know.
- 45:30Speaker 2: I don't know either. And then, speaking of Kim Palmer,
- 45:33Speaker 2: Kim asks the olders if they would like to meet him,
- 45:37Speaker 2: which I'm just like, that's a little presumptuous. Indeed, like
- 45:40Speaker 2: why are you asking? She just came down here, especially Ethan,
- 45:44Speaker 2: who hasn't seen you in two years, and I love that.
- 45:46Speaker 2: Ethan was like, not.
- 45:48Speaker 1: Today, Yeah, that's not gonna happen today. Maybe some other time. Yeah,
- 45:51Speaker 1: And then to the camera he's like, he ain't my daddy,
- 45:54Speaker 1: he ain't my stepdaddy, no, but my second daddy like,
- 45:57Speaker 1: absolutely not. I want no part of that, at least
- 45:59Speaker 1: not right now. And I don't think any of the
- 46:01Speaker 1: older kids do. Like when she's asking, when she has
- 46:04Speaker 1: the audacity to ask that of Ethan and the other
- 46:07Speaker 1: kids like Micah just looks down, Mariah looks away. None
- 46:11Speaker 1: of them want to go and see Kim Palmer.
- 46:13Speaker 2: No way, And they don't really know how to fully
- 46:15Speaker 2: express how they feel about it, especially on camera, because
- 46:18Speaker 2: I don't think they want to like disparage their parents
- 46:21Speaker 2: on camera because they've already done that enough. But I'm like,
- 46:23Speaker 2: please do it, Please talk about your horror of the mom,
- 46:27Speaker 2: Like why aren't you talking about it now?
- 46:29Speaker 1: Like Mariah, Micah and Ethan, you were popping off seasons
- 46:32Speaker 1: one through four about Kim right, and now here she's
- 46:35Speaker 1: gone and done something so fucking egregious, so over the
- 46:39Speaker 1: top with the duy and an adults affair, and now
- 46:41Speaker 1: there's Mom's the word nothing for like what the fuck
- 46:45Speaker 1: that's wild? What are we doing here?
- 46:47Speaker 2: Well, but judging by the season preview from the first episode,
- 46:50Speaker 2: it seems like some of the kids are going to
- 46:52Speaker 2: talk about how they don't approve of Kim Banaho with
- 46:55Speaker 2: Kim Palmer. So I'm like, I'm.
- 46:56Speaker 1: Hoping, so please, I hope so give.
- 46:59Speaker 4: It to me.
- 47:00Speaker 2: And then, last but not least, after they leave Florida
- 47:02Speaker 2: and they see the littles, they say goodbye, blah blah blah.
- 47:06Speaker 2: Ethan takes the olders back up to the Platt family home.
- 47:10Speaker 2: And this is where we have the concerts of Lydia
- 47:14Speaker 2: mm hmm of Ethan, and then of the three of them, Yeah, Mariah,
- 47:20Speaker 2: Lydia and Ethan singing keep on the sunny side.
- 47:24Speaker 1: Well, I mean, I think it goes without saying that
- 47:27Speaker 1: I need those girls to stop singing.
- 47:28Speaker 2: Please.
- 47:29Speaker 1: Nobody wants to hear that. No one really happy that
- 47:31Speaker 1: you want to sing about Jesus. But go do that
- 47:33Speaker 1: in the closet upstairs. Stop it. Stop trying to put
- 47:37Speaker 1: your musical family, your musical Christian traveling family on my television.
- 47:44Speaker 2: Lydia was singing slain deon today on Instagram.
- 47:47Speaker 1: The Titanic's Pongo.
- 47:48Speaker 4: Yes, I saw that, Oh my stop it, stop right, no,
- 47:58Speaker 4: God bless it.
- 47:59Speaker 1: But then and said, hey, I wrote a song, do
- 48:01Speaker 1: you guys want to hear it? And really depressing though
- 48:05Speaker 1: he sings it, and everybody listens. And when I tell
- 48:08Speaker 1: you that, my cold dead black heart, like I cried.
- 48:16Speaker 1: I cried because this is a man who does not
- 48:20Speaker 1: know how to express himself. And Mariah addresses this in
- 48:23Speaker 1: the kitchen. She's like, I'm happy that he has this
- 48:26Speaker 1: medium with which he can communicate his feelings. It's sad,
- 48:29Speaker 1: what I'm hearing is sad, but I'm really happy that
- 48:31Speaker 1: he has music.
- 48:32Speaker 4: Well.
- 48:32Speaker 1: Like what he's saying is that sometimes life just doesn't
- 48:34Speaker 1: go your way. Sometimes people turn on you. Sometimes you
- 48:38Speaker 1: would rather not be alive. And he's singing this to
- 48:42Speaker 1: his sisters and Barry, and he's singing this to Barry,
- 48:46Speaker 1: And I'm just wondering, from the vantage point and position
- 48:49Speaker 1: of Barry the father, like, how are you feeling hearing
- 48:54Speaker 1: these words coming out of your eldest son. I would
- 48:58Speaker 1: be personally so heartbroken, so concerned. I would probably be
- 49:03Speaker 1: immediately mobilized. What can I do? Like this is somewhat
- 49:07Speaker 1: of a suicidal song mm hmm, about where Ethan is
- 49:12Speaker 1: at right now. And I felt really sad about it.
- 49:16Speaker 2: I felt very sad about it. And I just wish
- 49:18Speaker 2: that like Barry or one of the other family members
- 49:22Speaker 2: just like went up to Ethan and hugged him in
- 49:23Speaker 2: that moment. But like they're not like a family that
- 49:26Speaker 2: does that, Like they're not like super overly affectionate or like,
- 49:30Speaker 2: you know, emotional in that regard at all, obviously, So
- 49:35Speaker 2: I just I don't know, I felt for Ethan, but
- 49:37Speaker 2: I'm glad that he feels safe enough to do something
- 49:42Speaker 2: like that in front of his family, because I could
- 49:43Speaker 2: never know. I could never. But like that's why I
- 49:47Speaker 2: relate to Ethan a bit, because I have my own
- 49:50Speaker 2: struggles being vulnerable. I do not like to be vulnerable,
- 49:52Speaker 2: and I don't like to be perceived as like emotional
- 49:56Speaker 2: or weak. So like I have a hard time with that.
- 49:59Speaker 2: I'd rather be a hard ass, but then that hurts
- 50:02Speaker 2: the people around me because I'm being a dickhead, you know.
- 50:05Speaker 2: So like I relate to Ethan in that regard because
- 50:07Speaker 2: sometimes it is easier to just put on a front
- 50:10Speaker 2: and not express yourself because if you do, you might
- 50:14Speaker 2: get hurt, or you might have somebody reject your feelings
- 50:17Speaker 2: or tell you that they're bullshit or whatever.
- 50:19Speaker 1: So it's so interesting because you put up this front
- 50:22Speaker 1: and not just you, but like Ethan here, but The
- 50:25Speaker 1: juxtaposition of that is that there is like roiling, huge
- 50:29Speaker 1: emotions underneath. And we've said on this podcast before that
- 50:33Speaker 1: Ethan is probably quite empathic. Yeah, but he doesn't know.
- 50:37Speaker 1: It's obvious to me personally that he's feeling big things
- 50:40Speaker 1: in his body. Again, his whole face gets red. You
- 50:43Speaker 1: can see how he carries himself in his countenance, like
- 50:46Speaker 1: he is feeling things. He just doesn't know how to
- 50:48Speaker 1: connect with it. Yeah, like once he does, if somebody
- 50:51Speaker 1: could teach him, perhaps the therapist, how to connect to
- 50:54Speaker 1: those emotions, how to process them, and how to express
- 50:56Speaker 1: them and release them to off gas them, Oh my god,
- 50:59Speaker 1: I think we're gonna have a totally different person.
- 51:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 51:01Speaker 1: It's not that he doesn't feel, it's just he doesn't
- 51:03Speaker 1: know how to connect with what he is feeling all
- 51:06Speaker 1: the fucking time.
- 51:07Speaker 2: Yeah, And I can't fucking imagine how like hard of
- 51:10Speaker 2: an existence that would be. Like, no wonder he's singing
- 51:13Speaker 2: a fucking song about self deletion and like how depressed
- 51:16Speaker 2: he is after this divorce with Olivia's Like I felt
- 51:20Speaker 2: bad for him, man, but I'm glad that he's like
- 51:22Speaker 2: reconnecting with his family and he has this space and
- 51:25Speaker 2: like this outlet to be emotionally vulnerable and like learn
- 51:29Speaker 2: how to be better for his future relationships.
- 51:32Speaker 1: Yeah, but like, this is your family who are clinging
- 51:36Speaker 1: to one another in spite of how you parented them,
- 51:41Speaker 1: Despite how you parented them, Like you pushed Ethan and
- 51:45Speaker 1: Olivia into a marriage together at a very young age,
- 51:49Speaker 1: which ended up being pretty traumatizing for Ethan and for Olivia,
- 51:53Speaker 1: I dare say, And here he is sitting in the
- 51:55Speaker 1: wreckage of his marriage that you pushed him into and
- 51:58Speaker 1: had a lot of influence over in those early years,
- 52:00Speaker 1: calling his wife fucking demon, possessed and all this other bullshit.
- 52:04Speaker 1: And here this man is a broken man sitting in
- 52:06Speaker 1: your living room. I mean, what are you thinking in
- 52:09Speaker 1: this moment about how you raised him? I mean, he's
- 52:11Speaker 1: obviously a good person. He's a good no Ethan, oh, okay,
- 52:15Speaker 1: And Mariah's a good person. Lydia's a good person. They
- 52:17Speaker 1: all have their shit, they all have their problems, but
- 52:20Speaker 1: these are good people that you've raised, and so you
- 52:22Speaker 1: can be proud of that. But like, did you do
- 52:23Speaker 1: the best job that you could have done? I don't know.
- 52:26Speaker 1: I was just as a parent, I was sitting in
- 52:28Speaker 1: that moment, and how I would feel if my daughter's
- 52:31Speaker 1: singing that song into the room, I would just be like,
- 52:33Speaker 1: holy fuck ho lee fuck. Yeah, what can I do
- 52:36Speaker 1: now to get here the resources that she needs? And
- 52:38Speaker 1: also all the incrimination of my parenting previously is what
- 52:43Speaker 1: I would be feeling in that moment.
- 52:44Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I agree, And maybe he is feeling that
- 52:47Speaker 2: or maybe he's not. Maybe he's beboobob Barry. Yeah, like
- 52:50Speaker 2: he's does he feel anything? I mean, he's so emotionally repressed.
- 52:52Speaker 2: And speaking of which, apparently Barry was married to somebody
- 52:57Speaker 2: else before Kim Plath.
- 52:58Speaker 1: Yeah, this is his second marriage, married to someone for
- 53:00Speaker 1: like four full years. Why aren't we talking about that?
- 53:03Speaker 1: I don't like so obviously he was not a.
- 53:06Speaker 2: Good husband twice. And like he's I mean, his parenting,
- 53:12Speaker 2: it seems like is getting better now that he's posted
- 53:16Speaker 2: the divorce, that he's trying to be more present, super.
- 53:18Speaker 1: King right, because it was Kim that had to do
- 53:21Speaker 1: all of the happy lifting and Orlida, and so she
- 53:24Speaker 1: was the one who's having all the kids and taking
- 53:26Speaker 1: care of all the kids. Well, you just get to
- 53:27Speaker 1: leave every day and go to work and come home
- 53:29Speaker 1: and your whole family's together, and isn't it wonderful?
- 53:31Speaker 2: Well, but he had to support a family of ten.
- 53:33Speaker 2: I mean that's still like a.
- 53:34Speaker 1: Lot of but he could have done a lot more.
- 53:37Speaker 2: Yeah, he could have been more present.
- 53:39Speaker 1: And communicative, yeah, and loving the most expressive, right, Yeah,
- 53:44Speaker 1: they had been done differently, but like that's true for
- 53:47Speaker 1: all of us exactly.
- 53:49Speaker 2: So yeah, that's the end of the episode, Okay, And
- 53:50Speaker 2: then we have a preview. So we have Mariah and
- 53:53Speaker 2: Ethan going out and they're talking about Olivia because Mariah
- 53:58Speaker 2: is feeling remorseful for how she acted towards Olivia and
- 54:01Speaker 2: wants to apologize. So she straight up tells Ethan, so
- 54:04Speaker 2: I texted her and we're going to meet up. And
- 54:07Speaker 2: then we see that they meet up together, and Olivia
- 54:10Speaker 2: is a little nervous. She's like, I don't know how
- 54:12Speaker 2: this is gonna go, and I want to see that
- 54:14Speaker 2: so bad.
- 54:15Speaker 1: Yes, and Olivia is giving herself permission to get up
- 54:18Speaker 1: and walk out. If it's going to be toxic or
- 54:20Speaker 1: if it's going to be negative, I personally do not
- 54:23Speaker 1: think that it will be. I think Mariah is going
- 54:25Speaker 1: into that interaction to ask for forgiveness. I think she's
- 54:28Speaker 1: in her Christian era and she's going to try and
- 54:31Speaker 1: be as humble as possible. And I hope that Olivia
- 54:35Speaker 1: comes to that conversation with some apologies of her own,
- 54:39Speaker 1: because her hats are not clean, like she did some
- 54:41Speaker 1: shit that wasn't cool, And so I'm just hoping these
- 54:44Speaker 1: two girls can heal the relationship, not necessarily to pick
- 54:48Speaker 1: it up and be friends again, but like just heal
- 54:50Speaker 1: the bad blood and put it behind them.
- 54:53Speaker 2: I agree, And I hope that Olivia doesn't show up
- 54:56Speaker 2: kind of defensive because historically, anytime she had any kind
- 55:00Speaker 2: of conversations with any of the Plaths, she does kind
- 55:02Speaker 2: of have a bit of a hard edge to her.
- 55:05Speaker 2: So hopefully she'll kind of let some of that go
- 55:07Speaker 2: because it's Mariah and they used to be BFFs, So
- 55:10Speaker 2: hopefully she'll be like, Okay, yeah, like I accept your apologies,
- 55:13Speaker 2: but I'm I'm so looking forward to that. I hope
- 55:15Speaker 2: they just don't edge us with that and we don't
- 55:17Speaker 2: get to see that until like season or the episode
- 55:19Speaker 2: ten or something like that. You know, I want to
- 55:21Speaker 2: see it next week.
- 55:22Speaker 1: I think it's happening next week, please, Yeah, And.
- 55:24Speaker 2: Then we also have Micah going on the houseboat for
- 55:27Speaker 2: Kim because she has no idea how any of it works,
- 55:29Speaker 2: and he's the resident mechanic trying to help get this
- 55:33Speaker 2: boat running. Yeah, she's fucking clueless ycause she's drunk.
- 55:37Speaker 1: Okay, and that's it. Well, I'm looking forward to it, honey.
- 55:41Speaker 1: I'm definitely enjoying this season. I'm enjoying. I'm enjoying the subreddit.
- 55:45Speaker 1: It's not all of them, the plathfill subreddit's are. They're
- 55:49Speaker 1: kind of on polar opposites of the spectrum. You've got
- 55:51Speaker 1: Welcome to plath Phill and they are one hundred percent
- 55:55Speaker 1: in the call drinking the kool aid for Olivia horrible.
- 55:57Speaker 1: Then you have Welcome to plath Snark, where they are
- 56:00Speaker 1: much more critical of Olivia. But there's reasoned takes, and
- 56:04Speaker 1: there's some people who like Olivia, Like there's more discussion,
- 56:07Speaker 1: Like you can't even discuss Olivia in a critical way
- 56:11Speaker 1: in the Welcome to Platfell sub like, people are into
- 56:14Speaker 1: it and invested.
- 56:16Speaker 2: And so are we. If I post an there, I
- 56:21Speaker 2: get downloaded so fast it's crazy.
- 56:23Speaker 1: So anyway, now I understand we have another speak pipe
- 56:27Speaker 1: Oh from somebody they called.
- 56:30Speaker 2: All right, so this speak pipe is from Angela, and
- 56:34Speaker 2: I think she's giving us a lot of love. She's
- 56:36Speaker 2: telling us how great we are.
- 56:37Speaker 5: Hello, ladies, my name is Angela. I'm fifty three years old,
- 56:43Speaker 5: mother of four, and I am not sensitive. Let me
- 56:49Speaker 5: stop by saying I tried to leave you a message.
- 56:52Speaker 5: I got cut off midway, so I guess I have
- 56:54Speaker 5: to sharpen it up. I am very new to reality TV.
- 56:58Speaker 5: Over the last few years, you went through a lot
- 57:01Speaker 5: in my personal life. I figured i'd hop on board
- 57:05Speaker 5: with mindless teav You two. I just want to say
- 57:09Speaker 5: I absolutely, absolutely adore you guys make me laugh. I
- 57:14Speaker 5: think you guys have a great dynamic together. I love

- 57:45Speaker 5: the only two I listen to are you guys and
- 57:49Speaker 5: Bunny Bunny xut thank you. You have no idea what
- 57:53Speaker 5: you do for me. It may sound like I'm a
- 57:56Speaker 5: crazy lady, but I promise you I am not. I
- 57:59Speaker 5: enjoy your show so much.
- 58:02Speaker 1: I'm getting for clemmed that's a good word. Yeah, I'm
- 58:05Speaker 1: getting a little bit misty, yeause. I mean what we
- 58:09Speaker 1: do is clearly ridiculous, totally, And I mean, are we
- 58:14Speaker 1: talking about super important global events?
- 58:16Speaker 2: No, no, nor will we ever, by the way.
- 58:19Speaker 1: But the fact that we still are able to have
- 58:22Speaker 1: conversations that we would be having any fucking way. Yeah,
- 58:25Speaker 1: but have them and share them with all these people,
- 58:27Speaker 1: and that it might make them a little happier in
- 58:29Speaker 1: a world that can sometimes be pretty dark, pretty toxic.
- 58:32Speaker 1: That means we have a purpose, I know.
- 58:34Speaker 3: I know. That means we're here for a reason.
- 58:36Speaker 1: Yeah, and that makes me happy. So thank Your name
- 58:40Speaker 1: is Angela. Angela just been a best friend, your best friend.

- 58:50Speaker 2: We appreciate you so much.
- 58:51Speaker 1: All right, before we get on out of here, Beatrice,
- 58:53Speaker 1: is there anything else that we need to say to
- 58:56Speaker 1: these beautiful raccoons.
- 58:58Speaker 2: Well, if you love our podcast, I sure hope you
- 59:01Speaker 2: go to your favorite podcast platform and leave us a
- 59:03Speaker 2: glowing five star review and it really helps us grow

- 59:21Speaker 1: so make sure to come back for that. But until then,
- 59:24Speaker 1: please do not forget that we have nothing about love
