  Speaker 1: the third day. That's the Lord we're talking about. That's

  Speaker 1: a touchy topic called bitterness. Bitterness. Bitterness is one letter

  Speaker 1: away from betterness. If that's a word, If you change

  Speaker 1: the I to a E, you could get better bitter. Right. Bitterness,

  Speaker 1: by the way, is a sin. Bitterness is sin and
• 1:09
  Speaker 1: adversely affects others and ourselves. So when you're bitter, it
• 1:13
  Speaker 1: affects others, and it affects yourself. And bitterness is like
• 1:18
  Speaker 1: one of those things, like it's like a spiritual cancer,
• 1:21
  Speaker 1: a cancer to your soul. Even though we have a
• 1:23
  Speaker 1: renewed soul or redeemed soul, a saved soul. Jesus has
• 1:28
  Speaker 1: died and rescued us from our own sinfle desires and
• 1:33
  Speaker 1: our own simple nature, and we have a divine nature now.

  Speaker 1: But if you're not born again, you are overcome with bitterness, anger, sin,
• 1:42
  Speaker 1: all kinds of wickedness. You're affecting everyone around you with bitterness.

  Speaker 1: But you could turn that around today. Jesus was not
• 1:54
  Speaker 1: bitter a man. If you're a Christ follower and you
• 1:57
  Speaker 1: believe in Jesus as Lord a man, recognize this one

  Speaker 1: thing that Jesus himself was not bitter. So if Jesus

  Speaker 1: was not bitter, why should you be bitter? We'd be

  Speaker 1: in James Chapter number three, James three, verses fourteen to sixteen.

  Speaker 1: is something that anybody could get into, especially what's going

  Speaker 1: on in politics, especially what's going on around the world

  Speaker 1: with wars and storms and hurricanes, tornadoes. People are easily
• 2:34
  Speaker 1: bitter over those things. And you know people have legitimate
• 2:38
  Speaker 1: reasons why they are bitter. Right Like I disrespect anybody
• 2:42
  Speaker 1: on the law stream and say, well, you shouldn't be
• 2:44
  Speaker 1: bitter no matter what. No, there's no matter what's out there.
• 2:49
  Speaker 1: There's life that's lost, there's injustice, there's policies that are
• 2:54
  Speaker 1: putting in place in our world and our country and
• 2:57
  Speaker 1: our nation that will make anybody bitter. To be careful

  Speaker 1: with that bitterness. Amen, and turn that too, betterness if
• 3:04
  Speaker 1: that's the word. Amen. So we're gonna be in James

  Speaker 1: Chapter three and Leth the Apostle. James teach us today

  Speaker 1: I'm praying for all the families in Florida and the

  Speaker 1: South who have been hit by the path of Milton.

  Speaker 1: I pray for the comfort of God, the peace of God, right,

  Speaker 1: the protection of God to deliver them from any type

  Speaker 1: of bitterness that they might be festering with or might
• 4:10
  Speaker 1: be festering in their life. Right now the name of Jesus.

  Speaker 1: will be no bitterness in our hearts and our minds

  Speaker 1: towards one another, especially toys the Lord. And I pray

  Speaker 1: Lord God that you will help us and guide us

  Speaker 1: as we navigate this thing called life and we move forward,

  Speaker 1: and things that we are unsure of and uncertain about,

  Speaker 1: but we could be certain of this, and that you

  Speaker 1: love us, that you have grace over us and mercy

  Speaker 1: over us, and that you protect us, that you guide us,

  Speaker 1: and that you speak truth into our lives, and that

  Speaker 1: we could apply a truth today. In Jesus's name, we

  Speaker 1: pray us by faith, and all those who agree we say,

  Speaker 1: of need. And he's a strong power. He's a strong fortress. Amen,

  Speaker 1: you start doing that, because what happens is when you

  Speaker 1: see the power of God move because of the word

  Speaker 1: of God, because of your testimony, because of helping someone

  Speaker 1: and showing who Jesus is in your life. When you

  Speaker 1: see that power at work, You're not gonna want to stop.

  Speaker 1: You don't want to be a soul winner, Amen. And

  Speaker 1: the Bible says you're wives if you do that, if
• 9:28
  Speaker 1: you win souls for Christ's sake, Amen, and you're like
• 9:32
  Speaker 1: a tree of life. And those who know the Gospel
• 9:37
  Speaker 1: because of you or because of me, Amen, that's an amazing,
• 9:41
  Speaker 1: amazing royal opportunity to share the message of the King
• 9:46
  Speaker 1: of Kings and the Lord of Lords. Amen. So bitterness,
• 9:50
  Speaker 1: bitterness will keep frown on your face, Amen, but the
• 9:54
  Speaker 1: joy of the Lord will keep a smile. We know
• 9:56
  Speaker 1: that life is difficult, right, I'm not going to say
• 9:59
  Speaker 1: it's not. Jesus promised. He promised us that we will
• 10:03
  Speaker 1: have troubles and trials in this world. He promised. I mean,
• 10:07
  Speaker 1: I won't have a sweat or a T shirt with
• 10:10
  Speaker 1: that promise. But it's a promise, Jesus promise. And whatever
• 10:14
  Speaker 1: Jesus promises is all yea and amen, and it will
• 10:17
  Speaker 1: come to pass. But there's a butt after that trial.
• 10:21
  Speaker 1: There's a butt after that trouble. Amen. Yeah, the butt
• 10:26
  Speaker 1: God has overcome this world's system a man that he's
• 10:29
  Speaker 1: coming back as a matter of fact, with a new
• 10:31
  Speaker 1: heaven and a new Earth, like I said earlier, And
• 10:33
  Speaker 1: that's an amazing good news truth that we can hold
• 10:36
  Speaker 1: on to, and it will help us from staying angry
• 10:39
  Speaker 1: or being bitter, or getting upset or losing hope. We
• 10:43
  Speaker 1: never lose hope because we have the hope of glory
• 10:45
  Speaker 1: living within us. Amen, if you're born again, if you're
• 10:49
  Speaker 1: not born again, if you don't believe in Christ, my
• 10:51
  Speaker 1: question is always, what are you waiting for? Why not
• 10:54
  Speaker 1: are you believing what the world is telling you about
• 10:57
  Speaker 1: the Lord or you're believing what the Word of God
• 10:59
  Speaker 1: is telling you about the Lord's sovereign Amen, choose wisely.

  Speaker 1: God gives us choices. He says, choose life or choose death. Right,
• 11:09
  Speaker 1: we have the choice to make a lot of people
• 11:11
  Speaker 1: choose death because that's the way they're influenced a man,
• 11:15
  Speaker 1: they were brought up thinking that life is what it is,
• 11:18
  Speaker 1: or any cards dealt to them, they accept it as Oh,
• 11:21
  Speaker 1: that's the way it's going to be, can't change it,
• 11:25
  Speaker 1: and they live that way for whatever reason, and that
• 11:27
  Speaker 1: causes there's a lot of strife and bitterness to rise
• 11:30
  Speaker 1: up in their heart, and they become hardened in their heart,
• 11:33
  Speaker 1: and they become focused on the temporal things instead of
• 11:37
  Speaker 1: the eternal things of God. That's a place that's hard.
• 11:41
  Speaker 1: We need to pray to people out of those places,
• 11:43
  Speaker 1: a man, if somebody is honestly searching for truth, they're
• 11:46
  Speaker 1: going to find Jesus. If someone is honestly looking for
• 11:50
  Speaker 1: the joy of the Lord, they're going to find Jesus. Amen.

  Speaker 1: So it all depends on what you're focused on. It
• 11:56
  Speaker 1: all depends on what you're hoping for. It all depends
• 11:58
  Speaker 1: on what you're looking for. You want to find God,
• 12:01
  Speaker 1: you seeking with everything that you have, seeking with your
• 12:03
  Speaker 1: whole heart, and you will find them right. But if
• 12:07
  Speaker 1: you're not, if you just want happiness, you just want
• 12:09
  Speaker 1: temporary rushes all your life, you want to just get
• 12:13
  Speaker 1: quick fixes all your life, then you get to find
• 12:15
  Speaker 1: an enemy. He's already enticing you into things that are
• 12:20
  Speaker 1: not golly and that will cause you to be bitter.
• 12:23
  Speaker 1: Trust me, I was on both sides. I was on
• 12:26
  Speaker 1: the other side for many years until I was thirty
• 12:28
  Speaker 1: years old, until God rescued my life because I came
• 12:32
  Speaker 1: to the finality in my mind that there had to
• 12:35
  Speaker 1: be more to life than what I was currently experiencing.
• 12:39
  Speaker 1: At thirty years old, and then when I was honestly
• 12:43
  Speaker 1: looking for a God who could change me. God showed
• 12:47
  Speaker 1: up a man. Love showed up, Salvation showed up, Mercy
• 12:50
  Speaker 1: showed up, Grace showed up, powers showed up, authorities showed
• 12:54
  Speaker 1: up right, Joy showed up Love, all of it. And
• 12:59
  Speaker 1: now I can't be bitter, can't be because I know
• 13:02
  Speaker 1: how good God is. Once you know and feel and
• 13:06
  Speaker 1: understand and recognize the power of God's love in your life,
• 13:10
  Speaker 1: then you won't be better. Bitterness try to come up
• 13:14
  Speaker 1: into our hearts and minds. Absolutely, we're living in a broken,
• 13:16
  Speaker 1: fallen world. What about you? Christians live in the same
• 13:19
  Speaker 1: world that an unbeliever or a Muslim or Buddhists or
• 13:25
  Speaker 1: Hindu Lisen, we live in the same world. We don't
• 13:28
  Speaker 1: serve the same God. Amen. And we don't have the
• 13:31
  Speaker 1: same mindset. When Christ saved you, you have a different mindset.
• 13:35
  Speaker 1: Now you have the mind of Christ. When God saved you.
• 13:38
  Speaker 1: You don't have the old heart that was full of
• 13:40
  Speaker 1: wickedness and all kind of sin and all that lies
• 13:44
  Speaker 1: and treachery and all that and bitterness. No, you have
• 13:46
  Speaker 1: a new heart. You have the heart of God. So
• 13:48
  Speaker 1: think about it. We are new, We are new creatures
• 13:51
  Speaker 1: in Christ. Amen. And we are dead to the law.

  Speaker 1: The law is still there, the law of Mosaic law.

  Speaker 1: Take Commandments six hundred and thirteen, a bit of colds

  Speaker 1: and commandments. They're still in effect, but we are dead

  Speaker 1: to those because we have the new law that Christ said.

  Speaker 1: He said, a new law. I give a new command.

  Speaker 1: I give a new law right, love one another, love

  Speaker 1: God with everything you have, and love others like you

  Speaker 1: love yourself. And that when based on those su all

  Speaker 1: the prophets and all the law falls hangs on those

  Speaker 1: su That's what the Lord said, Amen, And from that

  Speaker 1: we could take it as gospel truth, and we no

  Speaker 1: longer are bitter about things that used to make us

  Speaker 1: bitter before. I hope you're getting helped by this man.

  Speaker 1: Spirit teaching us today about bitterness. Let's go for it.

  Speaker 1: I know a lot of people are easily swayed or

  Speaker 1: persuaded into getting bitter. Let's see what the apostle James
• 14:52
  Speaker 1: has to say. James Chapter three, verses fourteen to sixteen says,

  Speaker 1: but if you are bitterly jealous and there is selfish
• 15:01
  Speaker 1: ambition in your heart, don't cover up the truth. We're
• 15:05
  Speaker 1: boasting and lying for jealousy and selfishness are not God's
• 15:13
  Speaker 1: kind of wisdom. Such things are earthly, unspiritual, and demonic.
• 15:22
  Speaker 1: For wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there you
• 15:28
  Speaker 1: will find disorder and evil of every kind. That's what
• 15:35
  Speaker 1: bitterness does, and that's what we are not supposed to
• 15:39
  Speaker 1: be doing. Not supposed to be living that way, living
• 15:42
  Speaker 1: jealous and selfish and having our own thing in our heart,
• 15:47
  Speaker 1: covering up the truth, boasting and lying about it. That's
• 15:51
  Speaker 1: not a mark of a believer, a child of God.
• 15:55
  Speaker 1: We don't move that way. Move and we move into
• 15:58
  Speaker 1: glory of God and the love of God and the
• 16:01
  Speaker 1: peace of God, and the wisdom of God, and the
• 16:04
  Speaker 1: authority of God and the power of God. Right, we
• 16:07
  Speaker 1: move differently now that we are born again. People who
• 16:10
  Speaker 1: watch our lives, because once you say you're a Christian,
• 16:13
  Speaker 1: get ready, everybody's going to be watching you. How is
• 16:16
  Speaker 1: he going to respond to that? How is she going
• 16:19
  Speaker 1: to respond to that? What is he going to do?
• 16:23
  Speaker 1: What is she going to do? As a believer. Shouldn't
• 16:25
  Speaker 1: there be a difference. The world knows that there should
• 16:28
  Speaker 1: be a difference. If we're following the King of kings
• 16:30
  Speaker 1: and the Lord of lords. There should be a difference.
• 16:33
  Speaker 1: If this is the true God of having an earth
• 16:36
  Speaker 1: that we're following, there should be a difference when we're
• 16:38
  Speaker 1: faced with challenges of life, just like their face with
• 16:41
  Speaker 1: challenges of life. There should be a difference. When they
• 16:44
  Speaker 1: curse us, we bless them. When they try to hurt us,
• 16:47
  Speaker 1: we try to help them. Amen. And when they slander us,
• 16:52
  Speaker 1: we speak truth over them. When they curse us, we
• 16:54
  Speaker 1: bless them in the name of Jesus. When they need something,
• 16:58
  Speaker 1: we give in the name of Gene. When they're hungry,
• 17:01
  Speaker 1: we feed them. When they're thirsty, we give them something
• 17:04
  Speaker 1: to drink in the name of Jesus. Bitterness cannot operate
• 17:08
  Speaker 1: in the life of a believer. Bitterness cannot operate in
• 17:10
  Speaker 1: the life of a brother or sister in Christ. Bitterness
• 17:14
  Speaker 1: should not be in the Body of Christ or the
• 17:16
  Speaker 1: Church of Christ. Amen. We shouldn't be jealous of one another. Amen.

  Speaker 1: We shouldn't be angry at one another. We should be
• 17:24
  Speaker 1: living the life that Apostle Paul told us to live.
• 17:27
  Speaker 1: To live in a way that we can not deny
• 17:32
  Speaker 1: the truth any longer. We need the wisdom of God.
• 17:36
  Speaker 1: We're not earthly minded, we are eternal minded. We are spiritual,
• 17:43
  Speaker 1: not unspiritual, and we're not of the devil. We're of
• 17:47
  Speaker 1: the Lord. Right. I mean, it's plain to see that
• 17:52
  Speaker 1: the Apostle James many people, probably in his community or
• 17:56
  Speaker 1: around him, we're being bitter. They were acting this way.
• 18:01
  Speaker 1: So he addressed it by way of Holy Spirit, and
• 18:04
  Speaker 1: Holy Spirit is addressing every one of us. Now. The
• 18:07
  Speaker 1: word is eternal, right, So what was true then is
• 18:10
  Speaker 1: true now? Right? What was true when Apostle was inspired
• 18:15
  Speaker 1: to write down this scripture is true today when we
• 18:18
  Speaker 1: read it. Eternal word, eternal life giving truth. It's like
• 18:25
  Speaker 1: a bitterness bomb, right, we blow up bitterness and we
• 18:28
  Speaker 1: replace that with love, grace, and mercy. We have it
• 18:33
  Speaker 1: because God gave it to us. Sister Joanne, good morning,

  Speaker 1: bitterness is sin and affects others and ourselves. Bitterness as

  Speaker 1: a mark of the unsaved is an unacceptable emotion for
• 18:51
  Speaker 1: a believer. Shouldn't be that way. We shouldn't be believers
• 18:55
  Speaker 1: bitter believers. Can you imagine that some people say the
• 18:58
  Speaker 1: believers and they always have a f that you don't
• 19:00
  Speaker 1: want to approach them because they always look like they're angry,
• 19:04
  Speaker 1: like they ate lemons right before you met them, like
• 19:09
  Speaker 1: sun sour. There's no joy, there's no hope, there's no love,
• 19:14
  Speaker 1: there's no mercy, there's no grace in their life. Be
• 19:17
  Speaker 1: careful with somebody who's just giving you lip service or
• 19:20
  Speaker 1: giving the Lord lip service and saying that they're born again.
• 19:23
  Speaker 1: They're Christians, but their life has no fruit to show
• 19:26
  Speaker 1: for it. They're bitter, they're angry all the time. They're jealous,
• 19:30
  Speaker 1: they're envious. They're walking around with selfish ambition in their hearts.
• 19:36
  Speaker 1: You see them all away. The wisdom that they're operating
• 19:41
  Speaker 1: in is not from heaven, but it's from earth. It's worldly.
• 19:48
  Speaker 1: But where you have envy and selfish ambition, Apostle James says,
• 19:51
  Speaker 1: there you will find disorder and heavy evil practice. That's
• 19:57
  Speaker 1: by so many people out there are living a double life.

  Speaker 1: They could do whatever they want to do, right or
• 20:06
