- 0:06Speaker 2: And we're live here outside the Perez family home, just
- 0:10Speaker 2: waiting for the.
- 0:11Speaker 3: And there they go, almost on time. This morning.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Mom is coming out the front door strong with a
- 0:16Speaker 2: double arm kid carry.
- 0:17Speaker 4: Looks like Dad has the bags.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Daughter is bringing up the rear. Oh, but the diaper
- 0:22Speaker 2: bag wasn't closed. Diapers and toys are everywhere.
- 0:27Speaker 5: Ooh, but Mom has just nailed.
- 0:29Speaker 2: The perfect car seat buckle for the toddler. And now
- 0:32Speaker 2: the eldest daughter, who looks to be about nine or ten,
- 0:35Speaker 2: has secured herself in the booster seat. Dad zips the
- 0:38Speaker 2: bag closed and they're off.
- 0:41Speaker 6: Ah.
- 0:41Speaker 2: It looks like Mom doesn't realize her coffee cup is
- 0:43Speaker 2: still on the roof of the car and there it goes.
- 0:47Speaker 4: Oh, that's a shame. That mug was a fam favorite.
- 0:51Speaker 7: Don't sweat the small stuff, just nail the big stuff,
- 0:53Speaker 7: like making sure your gates are buckle correctly in the
- 0:55Speaker 7: right seat for their agent's eye.

- 1:19Speaker 10: Stepcheck Service Center, twenty two hundred longmyre just down from
- 1:23Speaker 10: the post office in College Station. Hi, welcome, he thanks
- 1:26Speaker 10: for joining us on this Monday edition. This portion of
- 1:30Speaker 10: our program is brought to you by Radiant Dentistry. Coming up,
- 1:36Speaker 10: we're going to skate the Cup. We're going to talk
- 1:40Speaker 10: College World Series, and Rusty Berson is in in the
- 1:45Speaker 10: second hour of the program. We'll keep it an eye
- 1:49Speaker 10: on the College World Series, which we will get to
- 1:52Speaker 10: here in just a minute. But last night, the Big
- 1:55Speaker 10: twelve filed a legal complaint asking a federal court to
- 2:00Speaker 10: protect the constitutional and contractual rights of the conference and
- 2:05Speaker 10: our membership institutions to take actions expressly permitted under our bylaws.
- 2:15Speaker 10: This all goes to the Brendan Soursby situation. It is
- 2:20Speaker 10: not close to being done. The league statement says this
- 2:24Speaker 10: situation is evolving with penning legal matters in the upcoming
- 2:27Speaker 10: start the football season, and the conference hopes for a
- 2:31Speaker 10: timely resolution for these issues. The Board continues to keep
- 2:36Speaker 10: all options on the table. A third state attorney general
- 2:41Speaker 10: has joined Kansas and Oklahoma, this one in Utah, sending
- 2:46Speaker 10: a letter to the Big Twelve backing the league sanctions
- 2:50Speaker 10: of Texas Tech and criticizing the Texas AG's legal threats
- 2:55Speaker 10: to the conference. The harm from Texas Tech's proposed course
- 2:59Speaker 10: of action is not merely legal, its structural, says the
- 3:03Speaker 10: latest filing, the NC double A has remembered them, Remember
- 3:09Speaker 10: the NC double A. They've jumped back into the fray
- 3:13Speaker 10: and filed a formal appeal. In the source peak case quote.
- 3:18Speaker 10: Every day this injunction remains in effect, the harm compounds,
- 3:23Speaker 10: the NC double a's governance authority erodes, copycat litigation becomes
- 3:29Speaker 10: more likely, and the integrity of every contest in which
- 3:32Speaker 10: an ineligible athlete competes is called into question. A stay
- 3:36Speaker 10: would halt this harm. So we're not close to being
- 3:41Speaker 10: finished yet. Okay, they're playing in College World Series in Omaha.
- 3:48Speaker 10: You probably knew that Texas is leading Alabama eleven to
- 3:51Speaker 10: two in the bottom of the eighth inning. Longhorned shortstop
- 3:57Speaker 10: Adrian Rodriguez has become the the third player in College
- 4:02Speaker 10: World Series history to hit for the cycle. He also
- 4:07Speaker 10: has six runs batted in. And this is an elimination game.
- 4:13Speaker 10: Ole miss was eliminated last night by Troy. Georgia and
- 4:18Speaker 10: Oklahoma play a winners bracket game tonight at six o'clock
- 4:26Speaker 10: on ESPN. So let me get my bracket out right here.
- 4:35Speaker 10: The loser of Georgia and Oklahoma will play tomorrow night
- 4:42Speaker 10: against the winner of this A and M Alabama game. Okay,
- 4:49Speaker 10: Also tomorrow afternoon an elimination game between West.
- 4:54Speaker 8: Virginia and Troy.
- 4:58Speaker 10: Well, it's an elimination game for Troy. North Carolina will
- 5:04Speaker 10: await winners on Wednesday.
- 5:08Speaker 8: All right, the best of three tournament.
- 5:14Speaker 10: Is set to start Saturday, Okay, Saturday, Sunday, Monday. I
- 5:22Speaker 10: don't want to jinx anything, but the weather in Omaha
- 5:25Speaker 10: has been a lot better than the weather around here.
- 5:28Speaker 10: By the way, it's raining again. Turn on your lights.
- 5:31Speaker 10: Let's be very careful out there. I have four inches
- 5:35Speaker 10: at my house overnight. H my gosh, Alabama has kicked
- 5:41Speaker 10: the ball all over the field today.
- 5:43Speaker 8: Just facts.
- 5:46Speaker 10: Let's see Twins Rangers Arlington Stadium. Mackenzie Gore on the mound.
- 5:53Speaker 10: The Rangers, who just reached five hundred on last Thursday,
- 5:59Speaker 10: have a chance to do it again after beating the
- 6:02Speaker 10: Red Sox one out of three. They avoided the sweep
- 6:09Speaker 10: with the win last night. Jacob Latz, who has been
- 6:13Speaker 10: really good, should be on the All Star team with
- 6:16Speaker 10: an inning a third save, and we'll see what happens
- 6:22Speaker 10: with a six game home stretch by the Rangers. The
- 6:27Speaker 10: Astros are in Detroit. They haven't done too well against
- 6:32Speaker 10: bad teams. They are sitting at thirty three and forty,
- 6:37Speaker 10: but they're only four games out of first place, three
- 6:40Speaker 10: games behind the Rangers and the A's, who are one
- 6:43Speaker 10: game behind Seattle in the West. Five hundred may win
- 6:49Speaker 10: that division. Let's see Kaiwa ting on the mound for
- 6:56Speaker 10: the Astros tonight against the tay All right, we're going
- 7:01Speaker 10: to have that game here at six forty, right here
- 7:06Speaker 10: on the zone. So for all you Astros fans, both
- 7:10Speaker 10: of you Astros fans enjoy. Longtime Michigan State basketball coach
- 7:15Speaker 10: Tom Izzo says he's disgusted by the on campus turmoil
- 7:20Speaker 10: that led to the departure of the school's president and athletic director,
- 7:24Speaker 10: and is challenging the alumni base to do something about it.
- 7:28Speaker 10: Izzo says the departure of President Kevin Guskovitz to Clemson
- 7:33Speaker 10: after two years is ridiculous at fueled by clashes and
- 7:38Speaker 10: unrest within the Board of trustees. Two weeks after his departure,
- 7:42Speaker 10: Michigan State adj Batt left for Kentucky. There's other dominoes
- 7:48Speaker 10: that get affected when things go wrong. Like that said,
- 7:51Speaker 10: if so, I'm very upset about it. I'm sick about it,
- 7:57Speaker 10: he said. Guskovitz are Guskovich is the best president that's
- 8:03Speaker 10: ever been here. In a letter to the community last
- 8:09Speaker 10: month following his selection to Clemson, he mentioned an untainable situation,
- 8:15Speaker 10: an unsustainable situation created by different perspectives among the board
- 8:21Speaker 10: of members, some of whom have criticized major initiatives such
- 8:26Speaker 10: as Spartan ventures the corporation BAT established a boost athletic revenue.
- 8:34Speaker 10: Don't these board members realize that athletics run the university?
- 8:39Speaker 8: What's wrong with them?
- 8:42Speaker 10: Let's see, I just mentioned Rangers Astros right they have
- 8:46Speaker 10: released the first voting for the All Star balloting. And
- 8:53Speaker 10: let's see, in the American League, the only State of
- 8:59Speaker 10: Texas player is your Don Alvarez. He is the leading
- 9:04Speaker 10: vote getter in the American League at the DH position.
- 9:08Speaker 10: He has been a beast. Toronto has a lot of voters.
- 9:14Speaker 10: Vlad Junior, Ernie Clement are on the starting team. That's
- 9:19Speaker 10: as of right now. Say Langliers of Oakland is the catcher. Hey,
- 9:25Speaker 10: if he only played against the Rangers, he'd be in
- 9:28Speaker 10: the Hall of Fame already. Let's see Aaron Judge, of course,
- 9:33Speaker 10: and Cody Bellinger the Yankees. In the National League, the
- 9:37Speaker 10: leading vote getter is Shohey one point one million votes,
- 9:42Speaker 10: about two hundred thousand more votes than Braves catcher Drake
- 9:46Speaker 10: Baldwin has received.
- 9:49Speaker 8: So you got that going on.
- 9:52Speaker 10: And the betting line for the US Open, which starts
- 9:59Speaker 10: at Shinnek in Southampton, New York, Thursday, Guess who the
- 10:05Speaker 10: favorite is. Come on, it's Scotty He's the eleven to
- 10:11Speaker 10: two favorite. Rory is twelve to one, John ram At
- 10:15Speaker 10: thirteen to one, Cam Young twenty to one, Tommy Fleetwood,
- 10:20Speaker 10: Matt Fitzpatrick, Ludwig Oberg Xanderschoffley twenty two to one, Bryson
- 10:27Speaker 10: de Chambeau twenty five to one, Brooks Koepka, who is
- 10:31Speaker 10: injured at thirty five to one, So there you go.
- 10:35Speaker 10: That will give you the odds for the US Mids Open,
- 10:40Speaker 10: which begins Thursday in Shinnacock. Let's see, tomorrow we're going
- 10:49Speaker 10: to have our first visit. Riley is going to have
- 10:54Speaker 10: her first visit with Bras's Valley Bombers manager Ryan tar Gosh.
- 11:01Speaker 8: That's tomorrow on the show.
- 11:04Speaker 10: We've reached out to the Brian yard Dogs, but unfortunately
- 11:09Speaker 10: you haven't heard anything back from them. Scott Clendennam will
- 11:14Speaker 10: be with me with me on Wednesday. We will have
- 11:17Speaker 10: the Clark Eisenhower outdoor edition on Thursday. Ryan will be
- 11:22Speaker 10: in on Friday, a week from tomorrow. You need to
- 11:26Speaker 10: know these things so you can plan your schedule ahead
- 11:28Speaker 10: of time. There will be no sports talk on Tuesday
- 11:33Speaker 10: the twenty third because we will have an Astros baseball
- 11:38Speaker 10: game that afternoon.
- 11:39Speaker 8: All right, we're going to take a break.
- 11:41Speaker 10: We're going to talk about stuff going on in the world,
- 11:43Speaker 10: including the College World Series after this.
- 11:47Speaker 8: For Chad Jones, law.
- 11:49Speaker 11: I'm Chad Jones. We know sports injuries hurt, and so
- 11:52Speaker 11: do injuries from car rex. But you didn't sign up
- 11:55Speaker 11: to be in a car wreck. With someone who wasn't
- 11:56Speaker 11: paying attention. It was their fault and now you're left
- 11:59Speaker 11: to deal with the consequences. You need to see a
- 12:01Speaker 11: doctor and you're missing work. Chad Jones Law can help.
- 12:04Speaker 11: We've been helping our neighbors for more than two decades.
- 12:07Speaker 11: Stop getting frustrated with the other side's foot dragging. Remember,
- 12:10Speaker 11: don't get mad. Get Chad. Call Chad Jones Law at
- 12:13Speaker 11: ninety seven nine five to ninety five five thousand, or
- 12:16Speaker 11: go online to Chad Jones Law dot com.
- 12:19Speaker 8: Having Kanty and Michelle are unsportsman life.
- 12:22Speaker 7: This is somebody that left money on the table so
- 12:25Speaker 7: that other guys on his team could eat. When the
- 12:27Speaker 7: best player does that, it's hard as hell for the
- 12:30Speaker 7: organization not to do everything within their power to empower
- 12:34Speaker 7: that guy and to put him in this position. The
- 12:36Speaker 7: New York Knicks are unconventional in the way that they
- 12:39Speaker 7: built and now they're NBA.
- 12:41Speaker 3: Channel unsportsman like.
- 12:43Speaker 9: Listen in weekday mornings from Buying to eight on the
- 12:45Speaker 9: Zone eleven AM and ninety three point seven FM.
- 12:59Speaker 8: I hear fool talking about about the.
- 13:02Speaker 4: Way we have to live here in this country.
- 13:07Speaker 8: Are being on wars, be facing grapping.
- 13:10Speaker 12: About the wee thing.
- 13:11Speaker 13: Aims are to be here.
- 13:14Speaker 14: Tonight.
- 13:14Speaker 15: I don't mind.
- 13:15Speaker 12: Him switching sides and standing up Thames.
- 13:19Speaker 16: They believe in.
- 13:21Speaker 17: When they're running down, my countryman, they're walking on the
- 13:26Speaker 17: fact that side be.
- 13:29Speaker 12: Ye'll walk in on the fight inside of me.
- 13:33Speaker 8: That's Abody Borough right there running down.
- 13:37Speaker 10: Thanks for being with us and glad to have you
- 13:43Speaker 10: with us on a Monday. Rusty Versus is gonna join
- 13:45Speaker 10: me in the second hour of the program. Last night,
- 13:50Speaker 10: the Carolina Hurricane skated the Stanley Cup. They shut out
- 13:55Speaker 10: Vegas three to nothing their last two and a half
- 13:59Speaker 10: game games, actually their last three games, they gave up
- 14:02Speaker 10: five goals total. Some incredible stories, as there always are
- 14:08Speaker 10: when things like that happen. First Cup in twenty years.
- 14:16Speaker 10: I tell you we've got let's hear. First of all,
- 14:21Speaker 10: we're going to do the Caines coach Rod Brendamore, who
- 14:26Speaker 10: won a Cup twenty years ago as a player. Now
- 14:30Speaker 10: he's done it as a coach. And by the way,
- 14:35Speaker 10: the first thing he's going to comment is on thirty
- 14:38Speaker 10: seven year old veteran Jordan Stall, who will hear from
- 14:42Speaker 10: who was the conn smyth winner last night.
- 14:45Speaker 13: But I'm glad for him because I've seen this guy
- 14:48Speaker 13: grind it out for fourteen years and never waiver, and
- 14:54Speaker 13: so you're doesn't always work out, as we know, but
- 14:57Speaker 13: it's nice to see the good guys get one.
- 15:00Speaker 5: You know, Rod, how does this compare to winning as
- 15:03Speaker 5: a player.
- 15:06Speaker 4: I've been asked that a lot here. Now.
- 15:10Speaker 13: It's still awesome, It's just as awesome. But as a player,
- 15:13Speaker 13: it was a little different because you know, I'd worked
- 15:17Speaker 13: and then dreamt that boat winning a cup my whole life,
- 15:19Speaker 13: and so that was like a piano came off of
- 15:21Speaker 13: my back.
- 15:23Speaker 4: This time around, I wanted it.
- 15:24Speaker 13: It was for the group, like I wanted them to
- 15:26Speaker 13: feel what it's like, and I wanted it so bad
- 15:28Speaker 13: for them, so to watch them finally get it, and
- 15:30Speaker 13: then when I'm grabbing it they give to just to
- 15:32Speaker 13: see the look on their faces, is it's worth.
- 15:35Speaker 4: It's priceless because you.
- 15:36Speaker 13: Know how happy they were for me, and it was
- 15:38Speaker 13: the other way around for me, you know, And uh,
- 15:41Speaker 13: I'll never forget.
- 15:42Speaker 3: That left side front rope, Pierre Rod.
- 15:44Speaker 18: I know a couple of years ago, when when your
- 15:46Speaker 18: deal was expiring, there were other teams that I talked
- 15:48Speaker 18: to that were just praying that you would become a
- 15:50Speaker 18: free agent. They were ready to drop bucket loads of
- 15:52Speaker 18: money on you. Your loyalty to this team, and why
- 15:56Speaker 18: this perhaps means more is that is that the reason
- 15:58Speaker 18: why you.
- 15:59Speaker 13: Say yeah, well, yeah, I mean it's I don't, I can't.
- 16:04Speaker 4: I know I have a certain.
- 16:05Speaker 13: Way to coach, but it's I don't think I could.
- 16:08Speaker 4: Do it anywhere else, you know. It's just you have to.
- 16:12Speaker 13: We have a lot of talker in our room about
- 16:16Speaker 13: caring and that's not phony.
- 16:18Speaker 4: You can't, you know. And so this has been my
- 16:21Speaker 4: home forever.
- 16:22Speaker 13: My kids have been raised here in Raleigh and played
- 16:25Speaker 13: for the team, and it's just I'm very lucky. I
- 16:28Speaker 13: don't know how many coaches anywhere kind of have that.
- 16:31Speaker 13: And uh, you know, and we know coaching has a
- 16:34Speaker 13: shelf life. We get it, but certainly not this year,
- 16:38Speaker 13: you know. So it's uh, but it's a special bond
- 16:43Speaker 13: that I think I get to have with my guys
- 16:46Speaker 13: because I've been here so long and some of them
- 16:48Speaker 13: have been here so long, and that's as special.
- 16:51Speaker 19: Right side front Road Chip, Yeah, Rod, is this the
- 16:54Speaker 19: first time you've touched the Cup? I know you've been
- 16:56Speaker 19: around it since two thousand and six. First time. Yeah,
- 16:59Speaker 19: I actually put your hands on it. Yeah, did you struggle?
- 17:03Speaker 19: Was that a fake struggle?
- 17:05Speaker 4: I was just a.
- 17:06Speaker 13: Little bear hug and I don't know, And I wasn't
- 17:08Speaker 13: sure I was going to raise it over my head
- 17:10Speaker 13: just because that's kind of a player thing.
- 17:12Speaker 4: But I don't know, I had no choice.
- 17:15Speaker 19: One other thing too. Tom Dunnan just said his stress
- 17:18Speaker 19: level was extremely high throughout this whole thing, and until that,
- 17:22Speaker 19: I guess the third goal, it didn't ease.
- 17:25Speaker 4: The same way for you. Yeah, that is like me.
- 17:28Speaker 13: I mean I got to give him a lot of
- 17:30Speaker 13: credit for this whole thing. Number one, he gave me
- 17:34Speaker 13: an opportunity. You know, without him, I'm not I'm not
- 17:37Speaker 13: sitting here. Yeah, I just I know it. So I
- 17:40Speaker 13: got to give him credit there. And then uh, you know,
- 17:43Speaker 13: his his commitment to chrying to build a winner is there.
- 17:47Speaker 13: I mean he he, like I said, he went out
- 17:50Speaker 13: and got us players that we needed and here.
- 17:53Speaker 4: We are right side third row.
- 17:55Speaker 3: Ryan.
- 17:56Speaker 20: Hey, Rod, what can you say about Taylor Hall's perform
- 18:00Speaker 20: Orman's in these playoffs? And how happy are you for
- 18:02Speaker 20: him to finally get a coup?
- 18:04Speaker 13: That's a great story. You know, we got a bunch
- 18:06Speaker 13: of these guys and that grinded it out. And him
- 18:10Speaker 13: coming over with the pedigree he had, and you know,
- 18:12Speaker 13: it could have been easy to just be like, I'm
- 18:14Speaker 13: not doing this, but he it was the opposite. It
- 18:17Speaker 13: was like, you know, how do I contribute to getting this?
- 18:21Speaker 4: And it was a daily thing for him.
- 18:23Speaker 13: I think I think he got better as a player,
- 18:25Speaker 13: and I mean you just watch him now. I mean,
- 18:27Speaker 13: I don't know that he could have played any better.
- 18:30Speaker 4: He's was real special player.
- 18:32Speaker 13: Another great addition, and you know, I think he he's well,
- 18:37Speaker 13: I know, he was a big part of what we've
- 18:39Speaker 13: just done here.
- 18:40Speaker 8: Right side second rope Bill Rod.
- 18:44Speaker 21: I know this is obviously special for the whole group,
- 18:46Speaker 21: but how about the five guys who have been with
- 18:47Speaker 21: you for the eight years and all the ups and
- 18:50Speaker 21: downs you guys want It's uh.
- 18:54Speaker 4: It's hard to put into words, you know.
- 18:55Speaker 13: I remember the day that even my first acquisition was
- 18:59Speaker 13: Jordan Martin. I remember we grabbing him, had lunch of
- 19:02Speaker 13: them and I'm like, hey, we're going to try to
- 19:04Speaker 13: build something and it's we need you know, the kind
- 19:06Speaker 13: of player you are, personality, how you this is what
- 19:09Speaker 13: we're building around and he was like yeah, and then
- 19:11Speaker 13: it's the same thing as Jordan, Like every day it's
- 19:15Speaker 13: the same you watched him for eight years play.
- 19:17Speaker 4: It's you guys that see it. It's the exact.
- 19:19Speaker 13: Same every day, and he just brings people into the fight.
- 19:23Speaker 13: And you know, even you know Sebastian, oh, I think
- 19:27Speaker 13: sitting beside Jorda every day and just having to.
- 19:30Speaker 4: Watch what he does. Okay, I gotta do this. I mean,
- 19:33Speaker 4: that's that's the power of leadership.
- 19:35Speaker 13: And yeah, I'm really happy for those guys.
- 19:38Speaker 8: Was there time you thought this might not happen?
- 19:41Speaker 4: Well, you always have doubt.
- 19:42Speaker 13: I mean, listen, it creeps in, creeps in all the time.
- 19:45Speaker 13: And especially I felt like we had this team, could
- 19:49Speaker 13: have done this many many times, you know, but oh man,
- 19:52Speaker 13: you know, something.
- 19:54Speaker 4: Just go off the rails a little.
- 19:55Speaker 13: And I always thought it was the injuries, like we
- 19:58Speaker 13: just were missing key pieces and you can't you can't
- 20:00Speaker 13: win when you get to the end.
- 20:02Speaker 4: If key pieces are out. It's just too hard.
- 20:04Speaker 13: And we were fortunate this year that that didn't really happen.
- 20:08Speaker 4: So that's a big deal.
- 20:10Speaker 5: It's left side front rope, Tomrot, Freddie Anderson, for what
- 20:13Speaker 5: he's been through, you know, not just thirteen years the crib,
- 20:15Speaker 5: with the last couple weeks with his agent just to
- 20:16Speaker 5: see him Jordan to recognize him and gave him first.
- 20:19Speaker 13: Well, there's it's kind of goes the same thought process
- 20:22Speaker 13: with Taylor Hall, like a guy that's grinded out for
- 20:24Speaker 13: a long time and he got it out.
- 20:27Speaker 4: You know, he's had some injuries.
- 20:28Speaker 13: He wasn't one hundred percent, you know, that's why he
- 20:30Speaker 13: never really came back. You know, we had could have
- 20:34Speaker 13: maybe played, but it was like you can't kind of
- 20:36Speaker 13: play at this time of year. And so but happy
- 20:41Speaker 13: for him that everyone knows he was such a big
- 20:43Speaker 13: part of this getting us here.
- 20:45Speaker 3: We'll take a few more left side second.
- 20:46Speaker 22: Row, Tracy Rod, I'll ask you about another feel good
- 20:49Speaker 22: story with Brandon Bussy and just how he handled everything
- 20:53Speaker 22: and then to come out tonight and play that game
- 20:56Speaker 22: in this unbelievable.
- 20:58Speaker 4: I don't think that you're right. I mean, it's it
- 21:00Speaker 4: kind of just got a little bit overlooked.
- 21:01Speaker 13: But I mean every start like this is kind of strange,
- 21:06Speaker 13: Like every start that he's had for us has.
- 21:08Speaker 4: Been like that.
- 21:09Speaker 13: It's just been no, we're good We're good, no stress
- 21:11Speaker 13: making says you know, like from day one that he
- 21:14Speaker 13: showed up. So I don't know, we got you know,
- 21:16Speaker 13: sometimes you get lucky in sports, you know, you do
- 21:19Speaker 13: have to have that. That was a lucky waiver pick
- 21:21Speaker 13: up that just happened at the right time and here
- 21:25Speaker 13: you go, you know, And but that's also a good
- 21:28Speaker 13: story about people that take advantage of your opportunity. You know,
- 21:31Speaker 13: he didn't just it didn't just happen, like he had
- 21:34Speaker 13: to make it happen, and he certainly did.
- 21:36Speaker 3: Right side second row Dan oh, right.
- 21:38Speaker 23: I talked to Jason Blake on the ice and you know,
- 21:42Speaker 23: you're a hockey player. He was a hockey player, you're
- 21:44Speaker 23: you're a hockey coach, you're a hockey dad. Can you
- 21:46Speaker 23: have an appreciation for what he's feeling right now?
- 21:49Speaker 13: Yeah, he can't be you know any more proud. You're
- 21:52Speaker 13: watching his kid play and win a Stanley Cup. But
- 21:54Speaker 13: play like that, you know, be that kind of player,
- 21:57Speaker 13: Like it's like it's got to be, you know, just thrilling.
- 22:01Speaker 13: I saw him out there, gave him a big hug,
- 22:03Speaker 13: like because obviously he had a lot to do with
- 22:05Speaker 13: raising that kid.
- 22:06Speaker 4: And and he's.
- 22:07Speaker 13: An amazing player, but he's also just he fits our group.
- 22:10Speaker 13: He's just such a good kid. And uh again it's
- 22:14Speaker 13: it's a blessing for me. I got an easy job
- 22:16Speaker 13: when you have people like that and talent like that,
- 22:20Speaker 13: not that.
- 22:20Speaker 24: Tough two more left side third row EJ Roddie.
- 22:24Speaker 18: This was a back and forth series for most of it.
- 22:27Speaker 4: Yeah, in your mind, what was the difference in the end? MM,
- 22:32Speaker 4: tough to put it on one thing.
- 22:34Speaker 13: I think, uh, you know, I don't.
- 22:38Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 22:39Speaker 13: That's a good question. I don't know what the difference was.
- 22:42Speaker 13: I think it was our time, you know what I mean,
- 22:45Speaker 13: like we weren't going to be denied.
- 22:46Speaker 4: Like it was just I just saw it. I mean
- 22:48Speaker 4: all playoffs like I just it was just not that it.
- 22:51Speaker 13: Felt any really different, but it kind of did from
- 22:54Speaker 13: the past when we had I think the additions that
- 22:57Speaker 13: we made, like we were a threat. We had like
- 23:00Speaker 13: you know, Nikola, like he could score it anytime. It
- 23:03Speaker 13: was just you know, Kendrey Miller adding was just like.
- 23:06Speaker 4: A big monster back there.
- 23:08Speaker 13: Like it was just the little things that we we
- 23:11Speaker 13: we did I think made the difference. So it's hard
- 23:13Speaker 13: to put put it on one thing. It's probably a
- 23:15Speaker 13: little bit of everything.
- 23:17Speaker 5: Last one left side Forthrow Derek Rod.
- 23:18Speaker 25: I was talking to some of the newer guys on
- 23:20Speaker 25: your team and they said that they made you made
- 23:22Speaker 25: them feel welcome right away.
- 23:23Speaker 4: I guess what was what's the key to that?
- 23:25Speaker 8: They just come in here and they're part of the group.
- 23:27Speaker 7: They're not.
- 23:27Speaker 4: It's the five guys that have been here forever. It's there,
- 23:29Speaker 4: it's their.
- 23:30Speaker 13: Team, and so they're like, they get it. I guess
- 23:33Speaker 13: the thing I play got an easy job. They I
- 23:36Speaker 13: don't have to micro manage stuff like that. We bring
- 23:38Speaker 13: in a player, Jordan knows. We got to get this
- 23:40Speaker 13: guy his family. They got to be feel welcome, and
- 23:43Speaker 13: then the style of play we have.
- 23:46Speaker 4: I think we let people play.
- 23:48Speaker 13: Like, yeah, you gotta play hard that they all know
- 23:51Speaker 13: that that's how you win, and then their talent takes over.
- 23:55Speaker 13: And that's that's kind of how we've preached it. And
- 23:57Speaker 13: I think it's actually pretty easy.
- 24:00Speaker 10: I mean, this story is like a sports story. Eight
- 24:04Speaker 10: years they've been knocking at the door with the same
- 24:06Speaker 10: head coach.
- 24:07Speaker 8: Normally he would have been fired.
- 24:08Speaker 10: I'll be honest with you, but I saw last night
- 24:12Speaker 10: a stat I think Carolina has either the first or
- 24:15Speaker 10: second most wins the last eight years from any team
- 24:19Speaker 10: in hockey. They have played in the Eastern Conference finals.
- 24:23Speaker 10: They have knocked at the door and haven't been able
- 24:26Speaker 10: to kick the door down until last night with a
- 24:31Speaker 10: group of he mentioned the five veteran guys. They're five
- 24:34Speaker 10: guys left that started with him eight years ago, which
- 24:39Speaker 10: is two lifetimes in any sports, and especially in this one.
- 24:43Speaker 10: So more power to them now. Jordan stall last won
- 24:50Speaker 10: the Cup seventeen years ago. It's the longest any player
- 24:55Speaker 10: has gone. He's thirty seven years old. Okay, did he
- 25:01Speaker 10: help win the cup? He won the cons my trophy
- 25:04Speaker 10: as the MVP of the playoffs. Uh, he was just terrific. Now,
- 25:09Speaker 10: I want you to listen to the answers, and especially
- 25:13Speaker 10: pay particularly he had his three kids up there on
- 25:16Speaker 10: the podium with him, and his oldest daughter is going
- 25:19Speaker 10: to ask him a question at the end.
- 25:24Speaker 25: Jordan, I'm gonna peek around here. Your your new bit
- 25:27Speaker 25: of hardware there?
- 25:30Speaker 3: Could you?
- 25:30Speaker 25: You know you've done this before, but how different is
- 25:33Speaker 25: it this time? Given everything you went through here. I
- 25:36Speaker 25: know it wasn't easy for quite a few years, seeing
- 25:38Speaker 25: Eric leave and the struggles.
- 25:41Speaker 4: What is it like compared to the last time.
- 25:43Speaker 15: Yeah, it's exactly right. I mean me and Eric were
- 25:46Speaker 15: talking about on the ice already. You know, the plan
- 25:48Speaker 15: was to do it together. Uh, you know obviously and
- 25:51Speaker 15: it didn't work out, but on slide sometimes and you know, obviously,
- 25:57Speaker 15: especially now, happy I stuck around in the culture. I
- 26:00Speaker 15: believed in what we were trying to build in Carolina
- 26:03Speaker 15: and I was just, uh, you know, amazing feeling to
- 26:09Speaker 15: be able to build something like that, and uh, and
- 26:12Speaker 15: then top it all off with this is uh, I mean,
- 26:14Speaker 15: it's an absolute dream come true.
- 26:16Speaker 5: Left side front row, Tom.
- 26:17Speaker 25: Jordan over here just giving the cup to Freddy first,
- 26:21Speaker 25: just obviously what he's been through a lot, I mean
- 26:23Speaker 25: this his career, but also the last couple of weeks.
- 26:24Speaker 3: Just what do you think the meeting was?
- 26:26Speaker 4: What was it?
- 26:26Speaker 5: I guess this behind that decision in the meeting was
- 26:28Speaker 5: when you hand that to him.
- 26:29Speaker 15: Yeah, obviously he's been grinding the longest and you know,
- 26:33Speaker 15: I think he got us going here in that playoffs
- 26:35Speaker 15: and unfortunate to be out of the lineup. I'm sure
- 26:38Speaker 15: you wanted to keep it going and he couldn't. But
- 26:40Speaker 15: uh so I figured Uh, he'd be a great start.
- 26:45Speaker 15: And you know, I think, uh, just just proud of
- 26:49Speaker 15: the way he played for us and gave us some
- 26:52Speaker 15: great rest obviously early in the playoffs and you know,
- 26:56Speaker 15: a chance to to keep moving forward.
- 26:58Speaker 4: And uh, you knowing frend.
- 26:59Speaker 3: Of right side front row, Sean.
- 27:05Speaker 4: Jordan.
- 27:05Speaker 26: You you've been here with Jacob Slavin for so long
- 27:08Speaker 26: and he's been such a great player for you guys
- 27:10Speaker 26: without getting a ton of notice in the last year.
- 27:13Speaker 26: You know, he had the Four Nations, then he won
- 27:15Speaker 26: the Cup with the United States. I mean he won
- 27:16Speaker 26: the goal with the United States, and now he's won
- 27:18Speaker 26: the Cup. Is it Is it nice for you to
- 27:21Speaker 26: see him get some of these accolades and get some
- 27:23Speaker 26: of the headlines that maybe he's deserved for a long time.
- 27:26Speaker 15: Yeah, I mean he's he's been my Norris candidate for
- 27:29Speaker 15: a long time. And you know, he's he does so
- 27:33Speaker 15: many little things so well, and you don't really appreciate
- 27:36Speaker 15: unless you literally watched the game and you have to
- 27:39Speaker 15: see his every shift, every play, and he does so
- 27:41Speaker 15: many things that we get to see a lot and
- 27:45Speaker 15: and appreciate about him. And and he was remarkable tonight.
- 27:49Speaker 15: I mean, my goodness and his stick. He stopped like
- 27:52Speaker 15: four or five great d's.
- 27:53Speaker 4: You know, it was NonStop.
- 27:55Speaker 15: It was every shift, really, and he was a massive
- 27:58Speaker 15: reason why you know, it's state of zero.
- 28:04Speaker 27: And we're gonna go way back to the first game
- 28:07Speaker 27: in the first season. Why did you punch that guy?
- 28:13Speaker 27: Questions that need to be answered, guys.
- 28:16Speaker 15: I'll answer that later.
- 28:17Speaker 4: Ye all right, let me see.
- 28:19Speaker 27: You guys, can we get the hat?
- 28:25Speaker 10: So his daughter is referring to the first game of
- 28:32Speaker 10: the playoffs, but at the puck drop. As the puck
- 28:38Speaker 10: dropped with Calgary, Jordan's stall and Brady could chuck how
- 28:44Speaker 10: to fight? Okay, the message for Jordan Stall to his
- 28:51Speaker 10: teammates and the Calgary was, hey, we ain't gonna be
- 28:55Speaker 10: pushed around. Everyone knew that Carolina was the best team
- 28:59Speaker 10: in the team to beat in the East, right and
- 29:03Speaker 10: Calgary's plan, everyone knew, was to come in and fight,
- 29:08Speaker 10: muck it up, make it as ugly as possible, get
- 29:12Speaker 10: them to get players kicked out of the game. And
- 29:15Speaker 10: Jordan stalls like, nah, this is what it's going to be.
- 29:20Speaker 10: You're gonna beat us. This is what it's going to be.
- 29:24Speaker 10: And from that, from before the puck dropped in the playoffs.
- 29:29Speaker 10: That was the message that the captain of the team
- 29:34Speaker 10: sent to his own team.
- 29:36Speaker 8: And to the other teams that we're going to be
- 29:39Speaker 8: playing Carolina. I love that. That's hockey, man.
- 29:43Speaker 10: That is why it is the greatest postseason sport in
- 29:49Speaker 10: the world.
- 29:50Speaker 8: And nothing comes close.
- 29:53Speaker 10: And the story with Brandon Bussy, the goaltender who was
- 29:58Speaker 10: just a I mean, this guy came in and just
- 30:03Speaker 10: stopped the madness in games four, five, and six.
- 30:08Speaker 8: Shutout last night.
- 30:10Speaker 10: Five total goals in the previous two games when it
- 30:14Speaker 10: had just been a scoring fest in the first three.
- 30:17Speaker 10: It was crazy and Bussy put an end to that.
- 30:21Speaker 10: So Stanley Cup Champs, Carolina Hurricanes, congrats. Texas has just
- 30:28Speaker 10: eliminated Alabama fourteen to two. Adrian Rodriguez tied a College
- 30:37Speaker 10: World Series record with seven runs batted in. He became
- 30:43Speaker 10: only the third player in College World Series history to
- 30:48Speaker 10: hit for the cycle, so a historic day for him.
- 30:52Speaker 10: Alabama got smoked by Oklahoma and Texas, and the Tide
- 30:58Speaker 10: is out.
- 30:59Speaker 8: Tennessee is out.
- 31:01Speaker 10: It's down to six teams winners. Bracket game tonight Georgia Oklahoma.
- 31:08Speaker 8: The loser of.

- 35:33Speaker 8: They lost to Troy.
- 35:35Speaker 10: We're gonna hear from Ole Miss head coach Mike Pianco
- 35:40Speaker 10: along with pitcher Hunter Elliott and Will Fernis.
- 35:45Speaker 21: You know, first, you know, congratulations to Troy, and you know,
- 35:50Speaker 21: you know, Skylar Mead, you know what a what an
- 35:51Speaker 21: amazing job they've done, and you know they played so
- 35:55Speaker 21: well today and competed so hard.
- 35:59Speaker 22: You know.
- 36:00Speaker 21: On the other side, obviously, you know it always hurts to.
- 36:04Speaker 3: To finish and the finish the season.
- 36:08Speaker 21: You know, our our reporters have heard me say it,
- 36:10Speaker 21: because you know, everybody loses their last game except for
- 36:13Speaker 21: the team that wins the national championship. But and so
- 36:17Speaker 21: when it when you lose, you know, it stinks, and man,
- 36:20Speaker 21: it stings because you don't expect it to happen. With
- 36:26Speaker 21: that being said, if you're gonna lose, you know this
- 36:30Speaker 21: is the best place to lose at. And you know,
- 36:33Speaker 21: right now I'm sure it doesn't feel that way to
- 36:36Speaker 21: our team. But my hope is as the days pass
- 36:42Speaker 21: in the week's past, you know, they realize what a
- 36:44Speaker 21: tremendous year they had, uh. To the seniors, you know,
- 36:49Speaker 21: just unbelievable, you know, to to be here four years ago,
- 36:52Speaker 21: to win a national championship, uh and then have some
- 36:55Speaker 21: tough times, you know, have you know, fight through and
- 36:58Speaker 21: two tough years of injury and you know, not being
- 37:02Speaker 21: you know, good enough. The seniors hung together and you know,
- 37:08Speaker 21: last year we're you know this, you know, national seed
- 37:12Speaker 21: and hosted, got punched in the gut, didn't didn't weren't
- 37:16Speaker 21: able to get out of our own regional, but hung together again,
- 37:19Speaker 21: came back their senior year to get us back to Omaha.
- 37:22Speaker 21: So just so proud of those guys.
- 37:26Speaker 3: Uh.
- 37:27Speaker 21: I just told him on the field, you know how
- 37:29Speaker 21: indebted I am. The coaches are, and you know, Ole
- 37:33Speaker 21: miss you know, and all the fans they're indebted to
- 37:36Speaker 21: these guys for writing the ship, you know, and getting
- 37:40Speaker 21: this back here and so disappointing, but just very proud.
- 37:45Speaker 3: We don't open up the questions for the student athletes.
- 37:49Speaker 33: Jake mckever College Baseball center.
- 37:50Speaker 4: Hunter, your coach, kind of alluded to it.
- 37:52Speaker 25: You pitched here as a freshman, had two long years
- 37:54Speaker 25: of rehab to finally tell the river again.
- 37:56Speaker 9: Omaha.
- 37:57Speaker 4: What went through your head during your start?
- 38:00Speaker 3: Uh?
- 38:01Speaker 32: Yeah, good question. Uh, lots of gratitude. I I was
- 38:07Speaker 32: grateful to have another opportunity to step on that mound,
- 38:10Speaker 32: on this stage of college baseball, and uh just kind
- 38:15Speaker 32: of showcase myself again. Yeah, I'm just really grateful that
- 38:20Speaker 32: we we, like you said, right of the ship those
- 38:23Speaker 32: couple of years, got this program back on track and uh,
- 38:28Speaker 32: we're into our season here.
- 38:33Speaker 34: Michael Katz, Daily Journalist is for both Hunter and Will.
- 38:36Speaker 4: I know this is all very fresh right now, but
- 38:39Speaker 4: what what did this season mean to both of you?
- 38:41Speaker 2: And why do you think this team was able to
- 38:43Speaker 2: accomplish the things that it did.
- 38:47Speaker 32: Yeah, this this season was special. I think, uh some
- 38:52Speaker 32: because of how hard it was and we we had
- 38:56Speaker 32: a tough schedule. We had uh really tough road trips,
- 38:59Speaker 32: we had really really just tons of tough games. And
- 39:05Speaker 32: I think that's why this team was so special and
- 39:09Speaker 32: why we were so good late in the year. It
- 39:13Speaker 32: is because we were able to stick together through it all. Man,
- 39:16Speaker 32: this team means so much to me. Uh those teammates
- 39:21Speaker 32: on that bus right now, man there, they're brothers for life.
- 39:24Speaker 4: Uh uh yeah, it's it's it's.
- 39:27Speaker 32: Hard to find the words right now, obviously, but yeah,
- 39:31Speaker 32: it was a special season with a special group of guys.
- 39:34Speaker 35: Yeah, just all that what he said. And you know,
- 39:39Speaker 35: you know, I've been with a lot of these guys
- 39:41Speaker 35: for a couple of years. Obviously, Like there's some new
- 39:43Speaker 35: guys around, but I think we had like nineteen returners
- 39:45Speaker 35: or something like that, and you know, some of those
- 39:48Speaker 35: guys have been with for like four years, so you know,
- 39:52Speaker 35: they they mean a lot to me and they'll be
- 39:55Speaker 35: friends for life. And I think it just means the
- 39:58Speaker 35: world too, not only me, the rest of the guys,
- 40:01Speaker 35: because you know, we work so hard for it and
- 40:05Speaker 35: it just sucks that it ends the way it does.
- 40:10Speaker 36: Nina how Deshall Hotty Toddy news Hunter, Like they said,
- 40:14Speaker 36: you've been here before, but this year, how are you
- 40:17Speaker 36: different as a player but also as a person. What
- 40:21Speaker 36: kind of growth have you seen while being at.
- 40:23Speaker 32: All mess Yeah, as a player, I'm not a ton different.
- 40:28Speaker 32: I think I'm better in pretty much every aspect. I
- 40:32Speaker 32: think I'm better in a lot of ways on the field,
- 40:35Speaker 32: and that's just all the credit in the world to
- 40:37Speaker 32: our our coaching staff, our strength coach John Carrello, everything
- 40:42Speaker 32: like that. I feel like the biggest difference is kind
- 40:47Speaker 32: of how I am as a person.
- 40:48Speaker 4: I feel like.
- 40:50Speaker 32: With this year's team, I was much more of a
- 40:54Speaker 32: of a leader. Last time I was here, it was
- 40:57Speaker 32: kind of following the likes of all of the older guys,
- 41:01Speaker 32: and my role was more on the field. This year,
- 41:05Speaker 32: I felt like it was it was a lot off
- 41:08Speaker 32: the field. We had a lot of really good young
- 41:11Speaker 32: guys this year, a lot of guys that weren't as experienced,
- 41:14Speaker 32: and I feel like that's where my role was a
- 41:18Speaker 32: lot this year.
- 41:19Speaker 10: Tunner Elliott the pitcher for Ole Miss. They were the
- 41:22Speaker 10: first team to leave Omaha. Alabama has become the second
- 41:27Speaker 10: team to leave Omaha after getting punked by Texas. This afternoon,
- 41:33Speaker 10: we're gonna hear from Oklahoma head coach Skip Johnson coming up.
- 41:38Speaker 10: The Sooners have found their bats all of a sudden
- 41:41Speaker 10: in Omaha. They played Georgia tonight, a team that knows
- 41:46Speaker 10: a little bit about hitting.

- 43:05Speaker 12: The Houston Astros only managed five hits and went scoreless
- 43:08Speaker 12: to wrap up the series in Kansas City yesterday, final
- 43:11Speaker 12: score four to zero. The Royals scored early with an
- 43:13Speaker 12: RBI single in the bottom first, but the Astros came
- 43:16Speaker 12: close to responding in the top third with this big
- 43:18Speaker 12: hit from Bryce Matthews.
- 43:19Speaker 3: Here's the one.
- 43:19Speaker 37: Oh, that one's laced in a right center fail. That's
- 43:22Speaker 37: gonna get down and roll to the wall. Bryce Matthews
- 43:25Speaker 37: tearing for second base. It's a leadoff double. That's Matthew's
- 43:28Speaker 37: fifth double of the season.
- 43:29Speaker 12: Matthews would get stranded there at second only two other
- 43:32Speaker 12: Astros reach scoring position. The Royals would score the three
- 43:35Speaker 12: insurance runs in the bottom third, with the rest of
- 43:37Speaker 12: the game participating in the lazy Sunday. Now, the Astros
- 43:39Speaker 12: shift their focus to the Detroit Tigers, who come to
- 43:41Speaker 12: town for a three game series tonight. Detroit is coming
- 43:44Speaker 12: off of two straight losses in Cleveland and at nine
- 43:46Speaker 12: games back in the AL Central's hungry for wins. First
- 43:49Speaker 12: pitch is set for seven ten tonight from Dyke in Park.

- 45:07Speaker 33: Things that I've done.
- 45:12Speaker 4: But I can't say I've never.
- 45:15Speaker 31: Retention word any I've always been differ one photo winding

- 45:36Speaker 8: Thanks for joining us. Glad to have you with us
- 45:38Speaker 8: on a Monday edition.
- 45:42Speaker 10: Oklahoma and Georgia tonight in a winner's bracket game. The
- 45:48Speaker 10: Suitors have been hitting the ball, including a nine to
- 45:52Speaker 10: nothing she lacking of Alabama on Saturday. They for their troubles,
- 45:58Speaker 10: they get to play the best team in the tournament,
- 46:01Speaker 10: that is Georgia coming up at six o'clock here, a
- 46:06Speaker 10: little bit more than an hour, and we want to
- 46:11Speaker 10: hear from Oklahoma baseball coach Skip Johnson and pitcher Cord Rager.
- 46:22Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 46:23Speaker 24: I think from the get go, we took the momentum
- 46:25Speaker 24: in the game. Alabama is a really good baseball team,
- 46:30Speaker 24: and we took the momentum in the game and sustained
- 46:32Speaker 24: the momentum, and that was really big, and we stayed
- 46:35Speaker 24: in the process. Cord did a great job of staying
- 46:37Speaker 24: in the process. Our defense was really good. Our bats
- 46:41Speaker 24: wouldn't chasing pitches that we've chased before, getting good at
- 46:45Speaker 24: bats and sustained some rallies and the chance it's a
- 46:48Speaker 24: big home run to separate the.
- 46:50Speaker 3: Game, and it made it a little bit. It made
- 46:52Speaker 3: a little bit better.
- 46:53Speaker 24: Your breaking ball and your change up, your fastball come
- 46:55Speaker 24: in get better when you have a lead like that,
- 47:00Speaker 24: Jay came in. I think the double play whatever in
- 47:02Speaker 24: and it was first and second was really big.
- 47:05Speaker 3: I think that was a.
- 47:06Speaker 24: Big momentum changer that kept it in our dugout and
- 47:10Speaker 24: really proud these kids are staying in the process.
- 47:13Speaker 3: Really, one pitch at a time. That's what they did.
- 47:15Speaker 24: That's what we talk about, that's what we preach, and
- 47:18Speaker 24: I'm really proud of them for.
- 47:19Speaker 3: Doing that and standing their routines.
- 47:21Speaker 4: We're inn opening up.
- 47:22Speaker 3: The questions for the student athletes.
- 47:26Speaker 20: Cord Joe Gay through Bama Central, the Alabama Batters in
- 47:29Speaker 20: the back. The Alabama batters complimented your control throughout their game.
- 47:33Speaker 20: Can you just talk about your approach and really what
- 47:35Speaker 20: was your mindset when pitching to that lineup?
- 47:39Speaker 33: Just get the leadoff guy out. You know, I watched
- 47:41Speaker 33: the other games. I saw guys or kind of like
- 47:44Speaker 33: letting the environment get the best of them. But I
- 47:47Speaker 33: try to just stay calm, you know, get strike one,
- 47:49Speaker 33: get lead off outs, and just that's how that's the
- 47:52Speaker 33: process for me.
- 47:56Speaker 39: Edwardasvich Centerskip dot com Court just Skip talked a lot
- 47:59Speaker 39: about being comfortable out there.
- 48:01Speaker 3: How comfortable were you?
- 48:03Speaker 39: Did you know that you had really good stuff today
- 48:05Speaker 39: going in and then the fifth inning the double play
- 48:08Speaker 39: with Date and how much did that just kind of
- 48:09Speaker 39: settle everything else back in?
- 48:11Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 48:11Speaker 33: I mean, uh, you know, I just try to tell
- 48:15Speaker 33: myself it's just like any other game, any other game,
- 48:17Speaker 33: and uh, you know, I just worked the process and
- 48:20Speaker 33: everything else just kind of fades away, you know. And
- 48:23Speaker 33: so yeah, a tunnel focus and the double play date
- 48:26Speaker 33: and made and all the plays of defense made are
- 48:28Speaker 33: always helpful and always just take a little stress out
- 48:31Speaker 33: of throwing.
- 48:35Speaker 34: On Thursday, we talked about dating on this offense and
- 48:39Speaker 34: a couple of moments from him in this game. Obviously
- 48:41Speaker 34: the home run, but at second base, the injury there,
- 48:46Speaker 34: I mean in pure baseball moments of course, now he's
- 48:49Speaker 34: got to run the bases and end up scoring in
- 48:51Speaker 34: that first inning and a couple of times in this game. Uh,
- 48:55Speaker 34: what'd you think out of your catcher today?
- 48:58Speaker 24: Well, he's a baseball player. Sometimes you don't feel good,
- 49:04Speaker 24: you play. Sometimes it's raining you play, sometimes it's.
- 49:09Speaker 3: Hot you play.
- 49:11Speaker 24: Baseball Players play baseball, and he's a baseball player. Whatever
- 49:15Speaker 24: the adversity is, he loves to play baseball.
- 49:17Speaker 3: He doesn't have a bad day. I'm telling you he might.
- 49:22Speaker 24: Go for five and strike out five times. The very
- 49:25Speaker 24: next day, he's going to be smiling, laughing. He's a
- 49:28Speaker 24: baseball player that's an energy giver, and it's pretty fun.
- 49:33Speaker 3: He's really fun to be around.
- 49:34Speaker 24: I'm really blessed to be around him. I'm telling you
- 49:37Speaker 24: that right now. Hey, Kurt, Hey, you.
- 49:43Speaker 5: Kurt Bolts from the Houston Chronicle. Would you beat the Yankees?
- 49:45Speaker 3: Now?
- 49:46Speaker 24: No, No, it's good that he says that he's got
- 49:50Speaker 24: a lot of confidence. Now I can tell you that
- 49:52Speaker 24: the pitcher will get in the box with the Yankees.
- 49:54Speaker 24: He's not going to be afraid of them. They probably
- 49:57Speaker 24: beat him, but he'll throw it in there. I'll promise you.
- 50:00Speaker 5: I'm glad we cleared that up. And I just wondered
- 50:02Speaker 5: if you sprinkled some all gear garritos in dust on
- 50:06Speaker 5: these guys the last month.
- 50:07Speaker 24: Now, it's really Curt, it's I mean, coach taught me
- 50:10Speaker 24: a lot about a lot of things. He taught me
- 50:12Speaker 24: about one pitch at a time. That's kind of what
- 50:14Speaker 24: I wanted to do. When I became a head coach
- 50:17Speaker 24: is kind of take his what he did and his
- 50:20Speaker 24: one pitch at a time was he taught me a
- 50:22Speaker 24: lot and Coach Harmon did too, and so I think
- 50:25Speaker 24: the biggest thing for me is you kind of stay
- 50:28Speaker 24: either way. I can remember the first time I came
- 50:31Speaker 24: to Omaha in two thousand and nine.
- 50:34Speaker 3: You know, our bus was probably.
- 50:35Speaker 24: The most intimidating thing in the world to get in,
- 50:37Speaker 24: and he man all of a sudden, Coach Garrido had
- 50:39Speaker 24: music playing and everything else. I thought, Wow, this is
- 50:42Speaker 24: pretty crazy, you know, And I remember him saying, Hey,
- 50:46Speaker 24: we're gonna execute the game better. We're gonna take our
- 50:49Speaker 24: walks or get our bunch down. We're gonna throw first
- 50:51Speaker 24: pitch strikes. And we win the first game.
- 50:54Speaker 3: In omahall on a walk off walk against Southern Myths.
- 50:58Speaker 24: So you know, those things are it's the team that
- 51:02Speaker 24: becomes comfortable fastest. And these guys can maintain being comfortable
- 51:08Speaker 24: and staying in the details of the game, because the
- 51:11Speaker 24: game is a tough game to play, and if they
- 51:15Speaker 24: can just stay within the details of the.
- 51:17Speaker 3: Game of executing the game.
- 51:19Speaker 24: And I thought Cord was outstanding I mean the first
- 51:21Speaker 24: at bat with Jaywalk was incredible and it kind of
- 51:26Speaker 24: got us going a little bit, and the two strikes
- 51:29Speaker 24: and two out hitting was huge. The hit the sign
- 51:32Speaker 24: got I think over the second basement big too. To
- 51:35Speaker 24: separate the game even more, not to try to make
- 51:37Speaker 24: it perfect.
- 51:38Speaker 3: On the Mountain.
- 51:42Speaker 20: Marcot on just Baseball media, coach, this team seems to
- 51:44Speaker 20: be playing with a lot of fire, a lot of passion,
- 51:46Speaker 20: and they're also very calm and cool and collected.
- 51:48Speaker 4: Can you just speak a little bit about that? And
- 51:49Speaker 4: then also LJ been great on the mound.
- 51:51Speaker 3: Three out of the bullpen.
- 51:53Speaker 24: Yeah, I mean, you know, early in the year, we're
- 51:55Speaker 24: starting him and I think he got tired and we
- 51:58Speaker 24: started throwing him out of the bullpen, and I think
- 52:00Speaker 24: it bounced back being as calm and passion. I think
- 52:04Speaker 24: they played with passion. And really we talk about playing
- 52:08Speaker 24: with an edge and playing with passion. I think that's
- 52:12Speaker 24: really a big thing in baseball. It's what I love
- 52:15Speaker 24: about college baseball in the in the spirit of it
- 52:18Speaker 24: from from different schools.
- 52:20Speaker 3: I don't, I don't.
- 52:21Speaker 24: I mean, I have never been to a basketball game,
- 52:25Speaker 24: you know, March Madness game, but it's like a you know,
- 52:29Speaker 24: our conference is like a football atmosphere in a baseball arena,
- 52:33Speaker 24: and and I think that's the thing.
- 52:36Speaker 3: You play with passion. We talk about pitching with passion,
- 52:39Speaker 3: and a.
- 52:40Speaker 24: New chord was done. When he exhausted, you know, a
- 52:42Speaker 24: lot of energy. When he punched the guy out, I'm like, oh,
- 52:47Speaker 24: I'm not running him back out there, you know. So,
- 52:49Speaker 24: I mean I've been on both sides of where I
- 52:51Speaker 24: ran that guy back out there and he gave up five.
- 52:54Speaker 24: So it was I'm really proud of him. I mean,
- 52:57Speaker 24: he's a freshman. I mean you just taught you. I
- 53:00Speaker 24: grew up in the SEC and during a lot of
- 53:04Speaker 24: a lot of things happened like that. The last freshman
- 53:06Speaker 24: I saw win a baseball game here was Taylor Youngman
- 53:09Speaker 24: and he beat LSU in the National Championship game. So
- 53:14Speaker 24: freshmen don't get to pitch in this league very often,
- 53:17Speaker 24: and we're really proud to have three or four of
- 53:19Speaker 24: them that are really good.
- 53:22Speaker 8: All right. That's Skip Johnson, Oklahoma.
- 53:26Speaker 10: They have all of a sudden found some bats and
- 53:30Speaker 10: a lot of bats. And I don't know about because
- 53:35Speaker 10: not only did Georgia hit the ball against Texas, they
- 53:37Speaker 10: pitched like crazy that get struck out like fifteen.
- 53:42Speaker 8: Texas had been hitting.
- 53:43Speaker 10: Now. A lot of people said it was because of
- 53:46Speaker 10: the competition they played, and maybe today as well as
- 53:50Speaker 10: the competition, but they had fourteen runs against Alabama today,
- 53:55Speaker 10: and as Joaquin and A Hart once said, good pitching
- 54:00Speaker 10: beats good hitting at vice versa, but you got to
- 54:05Speaker 10: pitch the ball too, I mean, you can't just hit
- 54:08Speaker 10: the ball. And I still think Georgia is the best
- 54:12Speaker 10: remaining team. I think Carolina is good. I think those
- 54:16Speaker 10: are the two teams that are the favorite to be
- 54:21Speaker 10: playing this weekend for the championship. I think Texas is
- 54:28Speaker 10: probably the third best team. But in order to get
- 54:34Speaker 10: to the championship, they would have to beat I'm gonna
- 54:37Speaker 10: say Georgia. I'm assuming Georgia's beat Oklahoma. That's not necessarily true,
- 54:42Speaker 10: but they'd have to win two more games to get
- 54:46Speaker 10: to that point. And if it is Georgia, they'd have
- 54:51Speaker 10: to beat Oklahoma, and then they'd have to beat Georgia twice.
- 54:56Speaker 8: And I just I don't think they have the pitching
- 54:59Speaker 8: to do that.
- 54:59Speaker 10: For frankly, and I'm not sure any college team has
- 55:03Speaker 10: the pitching to do that. Was why you want to
- 55:06Speaker 10: win that first game, and why the percentage when you
- 55:09Speaker 10: win that first game is so much higher than having
- 55:13Speaker 10: to come through the loser's bracket. That just doesn't happen
- 55:17Speaker 10: very often. So I still like Georgia, I still like
