- 0:08Speaker 2: of the tariffs have started to open up some wounds
- 0:11Speaker 2: we want to check in on. My name is Paul Barren.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Welcome back in the tech path. Let's get into it today.

- 0:49Speaker 2: It does help the channel. Just as a reminder, if
- 0:52Speaker 2: you guys have not seen many of our videos on this,
- 0:55Speaker 2: we've covered this quite a bit. The iPhone killer, what's
- 0:58Speaker 2: going on with the salon saga, all the narratives that
- 1:02Speaker 2: have played into this, and we'll talk about this a
- 1:04Speaker 2: little bit, and it's been going back for quite some time.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Many of you will probably remember the original solanaphone, which
- 1:10Speaker 2: was the saga and its success. I want to get
- 1:13Speaker 2: into some of the things on Apple though, because when
- 1:15Speaker 2: you look at the Apple cost to be able to
- 1:18Speaker 2: produce a phone now and you can kind of see
- 1:20Speaker 2: some of the things that within it. A lot of
- 1:22Speaker 2: this goes into the countries that are building these, and
- 1:26Speaker 2: a lot of these are being tariffed even because they
- 1:29Speaker 2: start to trade with each other. This only means that
- 1:31Speaker 2: the price of the iPhone is going to be going up.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Apple has allegedly flew in multiple planes full of iPhones,
- 1:38Speaker 2: so this of course is to avoid tariffs. They are
- 1:41Speaker 2: trying to figure something out because the issue is real.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Let me go to a quick chaos recap.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Take a look.
- 1:49Speaker 3: Nearly forty billion dollars in tariff costs. It could take
- 1:52Speaker 3: a thirty two percent bite out of its operating profit.
- 1:55Speaker 3: Apple customers, they were reportedly rushing to US doors to
- 1:59Speaker 3: panic eye devices over the weekend.
- 2:01Speaker 4: I would not pay twenty three hundred dollars for an
- 2:04Speaker 4: iPhone for the newest iPhone for an Apple iPhone shipments,
- 2:07Speaker 4: lowering their estimates three to fourteen percent. We've gotten no
- 2:11Speaker 4: word from Apple itself and just a bunch of misinformation
- 2:14Speaker 4: from the White House. The President believes the US has
- 2:17Speaker 4: has capability to make iPhones.
- 2:19Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't think that's the thing. Whatever you thought.
- 2:21Speaker 5: Just quoted the price three x stat India has taken
- 2:24Speaker 5: like three years to get up to fourteen percent of
- 2:26Speaker 5: their iPhone volumes.
- 2:28Speaker 6: The reality is it's the most complex supply chain in
- 2:31Speaker 6: the world. You build that in the US, there'll be
- 2:33Speaker 6: thirty five hundred dollars iPhones.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Thirty five hundred dollars iPhones.
- 2:37Speaker 6: It would take Apple thirty billion dollars and three years
- 2:41Speaker 6: to move just ten percent of the supply chain into
- 2:43Speaker 6: the US.
- 2:44Speaker 1: Because no company is more.
- 2:47Speaker 6: Caught up in this tariff front and center in this
- 2:49Speaker 6: Category five storm than Cooper, Tino and Apple.
- 2:53Speaker 1: We'll throw the map up hundreds of them. I mean,
- 2:55Speaker 1: it is really stunning. I mean we're just putting some
- 2:56Speaker 1: of them there.
- 2:57Speaker 4: Hundreds You need a million people in the US has
- 3:00Speaker 4: probably to run the robots and service them, and the
- 3:03Speaker 4: people with the skills to do that live in Asia.
- 3:06Speaker 4: Why don't you think this is a buying opportunity for Apple?
- 3:09Speaker 5: Oh, this isn't the worst case. If China retaliates or
- 3:13Speaker 5: if they invade Taiwan, much worse for Apple.
- 3:17Speaker 2: All Right, So you can kind of see this is
- 3:18Speaker 2: revealing a very big problem with Apple, and I think
- 3:22Speaker 2: this has been something that we've talked about it here
- 3:23Speaker 2: on the show quite a bit, a lot of challenges.
- 3:26Speaker 2: It will roll over into some other areas, even their
- 3:29Speaker 2: staunch supporters. This is Marcus Brownly, he's been doing phones
- 3:33Speaker 2: or videos on Apple and very I would say, very
- 3:37Speaker 2: pro Apple for the most part.
- 3:39Speaker 1: But this latest video that he did explained a.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Little bit more around their AI crisis, and that is
- 3:44Speaker 2: a big factor going forward because it means that Apple
- 3:47Speaker 2: has not been building innovation. And I think that's the
- 3:50Speaker 2: challenge that everybody's looking at, just to confirm that. You
- 3:53Speaker 2: can kind of see, will Apple release a foldable phone?
- 3:56Speaker 1: Not a chance. So again, everybody believes.
- 3:59Speaker 2: That Apple has no longer reached a level of innovation
- 4:03Speaker 2: that we saw obviously with Steve Jobs. And of course
- 4:05Speaker 2: this does flow into where are they going to pick
- 4:08Speaker 2: up the cost or the potential sales well, it's going
- 4:11Speaker 2: to only come from most likely one place, and that's
- 4:14Speaker 2: the app Store. And if it comes from the app Store,
- 4:17Speaker 2: they're going to go after all of these services. And
- 4:21Speaker 2: this includes products like Patreon and the subscriptions of that.
- 4:25Speaker 2: We could probably see that with some substack. There's many
- 4:28Speaker 2: products out there that are going to go in this
- 4:30Speaker 2: direction if you're purchasing through the app Store, and I
- 4:33Speaker 2: think that's only going to flow down further. Now, remember
- 4:36Speaker 2: there is an alternative to this. Right now, I'll go
- 4:39Speaker 2: quickly over to the Salona Seeker. This is the current
- 4:42Speaker 2: phone that is out there by Solana. But right here
- 4:45Speaker 2: the price obviously very very competitive. Now, granted, I don't
- 4:49Speaker 2: know how much of an impact supply chain is going
- 4:51Speaker 2: to get hit with here, and it is a very
- 4:53Speaker 2: small number of phones in comparison to the millions and
- 4:56Speaker 2: millions of phones that Apple is selling, but early adopter
- 4:59Speaker 2: window five hundred bucks.
- 5:00Speaker 1: This might be the time to.
- 5:01Speaker 2: Get a new phone and start the shift if you
- 5:05Speaker 2: look at some of the potential comparisons. Here's an example
- 5:10Speaker 2: of the Display versus n iPhone sixteen, which is the
- 5:13Speaker 2: current phone out there, almost match for match. Then you
- 5:16Speaker 2: go further into this you can kind of see right
- 5:18Speaker 2: here on the telephoto lens. I think at some point,
- 5:21Speaker 2: even if this tariff thing, well it's not even if
- 5:24Speaker 2: when this tariff thing subsides and it will or Apple
- 5:27Speaker 2: gets a carve out, I think the damage has already
- 5:30Speaker 2: been done. It has revealed two things about Apple. One
- 5:34Speaker 2: it's unprepared for innovation, and two the market clearly sees
- 5:39Speaker 2: they are dependent on countries that could easily start to
- 5:42Speaker 2: cause an impact Apple overall. Right, here is the ship
- 5:47Speaker 2: date for the Seeker. It looks like it's going to
- 5:49Speaker 2: come out in summer. We'll see if that does happen.
- 5:52Speaker 2: I won't believe it until I see it in my hands,
- 5:55Speaker 2: and when that occurs, then I can start looking at
- 5:57Speaker 2: an Apple shift over. And I think some of the
- 5:59Speaker 2: phones that will we'll see in the market will be
- 6:02Speaker 2: pretty significant because but just remember with the Seeker, the
- 6:06Speaker 2: opportunity here is pretty crazy because the amount of AI
- 6:11Speaker 2: agents DeFi what we'll see in terms of Web three
- 6:15Speaker 2: functionality is going to be unbelievable, and I think that's
- 6:18Speaker 2: only going to make the phone even that much more desirable.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Let's take a look at Salona's events. The one I'm
- 6:23Speaker 2: targeting right now is the Accelerate event. This one is
- 6:26Speaker 2: the first event in the United States that's going to
- 6:28Speaker 2: be held in New York on May nineteenth and twentieth.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Could this be the place where they actually launched the
- 6:36Speaker 2: Saga we'll see or the Seeker. I think this is
- 6:38Speaker 2: a possibility. We'll see how it goes. I want to
- 6:41Speaker 2: show you something here in terms of the amount of
- 6:43Speaker 2: advertising that is spent right now by Apple estimated seven
- 6:47Speaker 2: hundred and seventy five million dollars right now in advertising
- 6:50Speaker 2: and marketing efforts, and a lot of this is allocated
- 6:53Speaker 2: to YouTube. You can kind of see the ads, what
- 6:55Speaker 2: they're spending on, et cetera. And I think this is
- 6:58Speaker 2: a factor going forward because when you look at the
- 7:00Speaker 2: market and the potential of some of these other phones,
- 7:04Speaker 2: understanding how to market to Gen Z and millennials, you've
- 7:09Speaker 2: got to look at influencers and what Saga has been
- 7:12Speaker 2: able to do and could be able to do. Seeker,
- 7:14Speaker 2: I should say, as Lana is be able to penetrate
- 7:17Speaker 2: that potential influencer market. Here's Joe Rogan now following the Seeker.
- 7:21Speaker 2: So it's something to keep an eye on, you know,
- 7:23Speaker 2: in terms of how marketing will maybe make its way
- 7:27Speaker 2: into mainstream, because that's going to be a key thing
- 7:29Speaker 2: for Solana and their phone. On top of all these
- 7:32Speaker 2: creators coming in now you've got the potential for more
- 7:36Speaker 2: shilling to happen. And this is going to happen in
- 7:37Speaker 2: the way of digital collectibles digitals out there that will
- 7:40Speaker 2: make their way into web three phones like the Saga.
- 7:43Speaker 1: With that, you've got to look at.
- 7:45Speaker 2: The kind of explosion that we're seeing. This of course
- 7:47Speaker 2: is coming from the Pokemon cards, but the point being
- 7:50Speaker 2: is that this may be a new cycle of adoption
- 7:54Speaker 2: that could occur in mobile devices. We've seen this before,
- 7:57Speaker 2: remember Apple did this with the iPhone store, what we
- 8:01Speaker 2: saw on podcasts, all sorts of things that really started
- 8:04Speaker 2: to make their way into kind of the fabric of
- 8:07Speaker 2: mobile life. And I think that might be changing now
- 8:10Speaker 2: when you look at the prices. This is the Saga,
- 8:13Speaker 2: this is the original phone, so it's old two years old.
- 8:16Speaker 2: You can get a used one out there for like
- 8:18Speaker 2: three hundred bucks, but it's no NFTs on it. Now
- 8:23Speaker 2: if you throw the NFTs on it, well that changes
- 8:25Speaker 2: the game.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Guys.
- 8:26Speaker 2: Now you're talking about sealed with the sim and it
- 8:30Speaker 2: includes unclaimed air drop tokens, all of that value right
- 8:33Speaker 2: now already built into that phone. That's the other thing
- 8:35Speaker 2: that was always the killer about this. Seventeen hundred bucks
- 8:38Speaker 2: for that phone right now, So that is another one
- 8:41Speaker 2: now you've got.
- 8:42Speaker 1: Of course Apple.
- 8:43Speaker 2: I shouldn't say Apple claiming this because this actually came
- 8:46Speaker 2: out of China claiming that the This was a news
- 8:50Speaker 2: outlet in China claiming that the Apple Vision Pro is
- 8:53Speaker 2: entered mass production.
- 8:54Speaker 1: There's no way that this has occurred.
- 8:57Speaker 2: And this, I think is just again more fun that's
- 9:00Speaker 2: coming out of I should say, more news that's being
- 9:03Speaker 2: put out to basically say, hey, nothing to see here
- 9:06Speaker 2: right now with Apple's problems overall, with the tariff situation.
- 9:10Speaker 2: With that said, this slowness around the Vision Pro has
- 9:15Speaker 2: only opened up an opportunity, and opportunities have come from
- 9:18Speaker 2: companies like x Reel. The likelihood of this device making
- 9:21Speaker 2: its way into mainstream is now real, and we'll probably
- 9:26Speaker 2: see more advancements in this even when we look at
- 9:28Speaker 2: the potential of what Meta has been able to do.
- 9:31Speaker 2: The other killer app here is Shaga Cloud Gaming, and
- 9:34Speaker 2: this of course is Salona's cloud gaming service and the
- 9:37Speaker 2: functionality of this is very efficient, but this could essentially
- 9:40Speaker 2: replace the app store.
- 9:42Speaker 1: That's the idea of where this could go.
- 9:44Speaker 2: And if you get developers starting to adopt this and
- 9:46Speaker 2: you get a little bit of a run up here,
- 9:48Speaker 2: aligned with Tariff's lack of innovation, all of that means
- 9:52Speaker 2: one thing, and that means growth. Gaming of course, will
- 9:54Speaker 2: be a big part of that. If you look at this,
- 9:56Speaker 2: this is just showing the capacity of what Shaga can do.
- 10:00Speaker 2: This is almost real time and the opportunity Remember this
- 10:02Speaker 2: is cloud all right, so the opportunity.
- 10:05Speaker 1: Here is pretty dynamic. Keep an eye on that one.
- 10:08Speaker 1: Let me go to a clip real quick.
- 10:09Speaker 2: This is the Shaga CEO talking about Microsoft using Solana
- 10:13Speaker 2: as white label.
- 10:14Speaker 1: Take a look.
- 10:15Speaker 7: We're developing both clients that are like iOS and Android
- 10:20Speaker 7: and Windows notes. There could be a way in which,
- 10:24Speaker 7: like in the future, like you would possibly start to
- 10:27Speaker 7: see like Xbox Cloud maybe using a white label the
- 10:32Speaker 7: Shaga solution where like just using the computer units like
- 10:36Speaker 7: the PCs that are closer to where their demand is.
- 10:40Speaker 7: Once you reach the threshold where like you can play
- 10:44Speaker 7: games faster than it takes for you to download them,
- 10:48Speaker 7: then like you will move into this next paradigm where
- 10:52Speaker 7: like why having a gaming console when like you can
- 10:55Speaker 7: have a phone and like something to like make it
- 10:58Speaker 7: comfortable for you to play. So it's definitely going to
- 11:01Speaker 7: be like a screen and a controller. We believe that
- 11:04Speaker 7: what tree gaming is going to become like a very
- 11:07Speaker 7: cool thing and like, look what I have might be over.
- 11:10Speaker 2: There could be a possibility that this could occur in
- 11:14Speaker 2: terms of cloud gaming. For Microsoft, the possibility of that
- 11:18Speaker 2: in terms of what it's capable of could be a
- 11:21Speaker 2: big deal. So we'll see if that actually comes to
- 11:23Speaker 2: fruit here in the future. But what is happening right
- 11:27Speaker 2: now on Shaga is the fact that you've got web
- 11:30Speaker 2: three games out there that are rewarding people. And this
- 11:34Speaker 2: of course is star atlus right here. You can actually
- 11:36Speaker 2: do clips of you guys showing Shaga and action. This
- 11:39Speaker 2: is on YouTube, x, Twitch, etc. They're paying creators to
- 11:43Speaker 2: go out and do this. This will be good because
- 11:45Speaker 2: it will only showcase the benefit of cloud gaming, and
- 11:48Speaker 2: I think that is the factor that everybody needs to understand.
- 11:51Speaker 3: Now.
- 11:52Speaker 2: The reality is the gaming market is absolutely ginormous, So
- 11:56Speaker 2: can they make a dent in this because web three gaming.
- 11:59Speaker 1: Is a very all part of it.
- 12:00Speaker 2: When you take a look at the TVL and the
- 12:03Speaker 2: app revenue chart, remember that the way this works is
- 12:06Speaker 2: the app developers the games, they actually get revenue from this,
- 12:10Speaker 2: versus what you see in the app store over on Apple,
- 12:15Speaker 2: where they're going to be raising the cost of what
- 12:17Speaker 2: you have to do to get in there. So this
- 12:18Speaker 2: might be a pathway for Solana and also the ecosystem
- 12:23Speaker 2: of gaming as well as just mainstream adoption really taking
- 12:27Speaker 2: off pretty soon, so keep an eye on that. Just
- 12:30Speaker 2: as an update, the markets are obviously responding to Trump's
- 12:33Speaker 2: tariffs the pause, i should say on tariffs, and Bitcoin
- 12:37Speaker 2: has had a rip where we're trading now at almost
- 12:40Speaker 2: eighty two. Solana is trading right now at one eighteen,
- 12:44Speaker 2: so up considerably almost twenty percent from yesterday's load around
- 12:48Speaker 2: one hundred bucks. So this might be a good time. Guys,
- 12:50Speaker 2: is this the bounce everybody's been looking for? All of
- 12:53Speaker 2: this happening to Apple right now? Is there a long
- 12:55Speaker 2: term effect of where this could play into web three?
- 12:58Speaker 2: Let me know in the comments down. Hello, make sure
- 13:01Speaker 2: and subscribe to the show. If you're not in the
- 13:03Speaker 2: diamond circle, get in on that. It's our own special
