- 1:01Speaker 6: six minutes, but I did. I did get Fred to
- 1:03Speaker 6: yell at me.
- 1:03Speaker 1: So I'm glad.
- 1:05Speaker 3: You know, sometimes we see the kickers and they'll be
- 1:08Speaker 3: kicking as.
- 1:12Speaker 7: Opposed to a pretty good job by me on that read.
- 1:15Speaker 7: I think, no, not great.
- 1:16Speaker 6: A couple bubbles in the middle.
- 1:17Speaker 7: Flexible financing on my mattresses.
- 1:20Speaker 3: Little pitchy dog not gonna lie.
- 1:22Speaker 7: Let me clear.

- 1:26Speaker 8: Presented by Toyota's official website for deals by a Toyota
- 1:29Speaker 8: dot com.
- 1:32Speaker 1: All right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Tuesday here
- 1:36Speaker 1: at Jillette Stadium, and kind of a weird week because
- 1:39Speaker 1: we didn't play over the weekend, but we played on Thursday.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Big win against the Pittsburgh Steelers. People thought we were
- 1:48Speaker 1: gonna get trounced ha mits Trubisky tape. Yeah, yeah, we'll
- 1:54Speaker 1: show them, show them who's still the best coach in
- 1:57Speaker 1: the NFL.
- 1:58Speaker 3: Right, But of course both of those guys could be
- 2:01Speaker 3: out of a job after the year.
- 2:02Speaker 1: But it was a good win. Nothing you know, to
- 2:06Speaker 1: take away from the Patriots there, Taylor two halves, but
- 2:10Speaker 1: they built up enough of a lead in that first
- 2:12Speaker 1: half to come away with the win. And you can
- 2:15Speaker 1: just see from the players whatever relief it was to,
- 2:18Speaker 1: you know, to get one. You know. Of course, Bailey
- 2:21Speaker 1: Zappi is one of the storylines coming out of that,
- 2:24Speaker 1: and although Bill hasn't announced it, we pretty sure that
- 2:27Speaker 1: he's going to be starting this week against the Chiefs.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Then we had the Army Navy game here at chill
- 2:33Speaker 1: At Stadium, which was a home run in every respect,
- 2:37Speaker 1: just an awesome event to be held here. And now
- 2:42Speaker 1: we're getting ready for the Chiefs, right.
- 2:44Speaker 7: Wow, an angry Chiefs team that was. I mean, I
- 2:46Speaker 7: can't believe the rest didn't give them a warning. I mean,
- 2:49Speaker 7: get back, what are you doing? I mean, come on, refs,
- 2:51Speaker 7: It's ridiculous. Is the worst I've ever seen.
- 2:53Speaker 1: If that team in their locker room doesn't have a
- 2:56Speaker 1: big poster, never ever line up offside offensive, then then
- 3:01Speaker 1: their neglige, right, I mean after after d Ford, like
- 3:05Speaker 1: why would that ever happen to that team again? But
- 3:08Speaker 1: yet it did.
- 3:08Speaker 7: Visual cues yeah, well, I mean I'll let Paul jump in.
- 3:11Speaker 7: But I mean Tony was just so far off. And
- 3:13Speaker 7: then there was like videos where no, no, he did
- 3:15Speaker 7: look and check with the wrestling now he like just
- 3:17Speaker 7: glanced over like usually see the guy point and he
- 3:20Speaker 7: didn't check. He didn't do that. He kind of.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Glanced at Why is it the referees, you know, job
- 3:24Speaker 1: to like make sure you're lined up on I know
- 3:26Speaker 1: they do that, but that's not their job.
- 3:28Speaker 7: This is like playoffs are on the line seating. I mean,
- 3:30Speaker 7: this is these are huge moments between good teams and like, sorry,
- 3:33Speaker 7: we're not going to hold your hand and remind you, Oh,
- 3:35Speaker 7: you gotta.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Get in the same game. It was earlier in the game, obviously,
- 3:39Speaker 1: there was a kerfuffle on the sideline and Chris Jones,
- 3:43Speaker 1: Chris Jones, one of the players had his helmet like
- 3:46Speaker 1: halfway up and the referee came and put it down,
- 3:50Speaker 1: like put your helmet that. Like again, nice that the
- 3:54Speaker 1: ref does that, but that's not their job. You know,
- 3:55Speaker 1: if the guy wants to take his helmet off, he's
- 3:58Speaker 1: going to get penalized. But you know, the did a
- 4:00Speaker 1: massalid I thought by putting his toddle in that down. Yeah,
- 4:04Speaker 1: but I don't know.
- 4:05Speaker 5: Oh, that team has bigger issues than I think.
- 4:08Speaker 1: They were more embarrassed than anything else, right, Yeah, and.
- 4:11Speaker 7: They wanted that play to count. They all wanted, you know,
- 4:13Speaker 7: Travis Kelcey to have this great you know touchdown throwback
- 4:15Speaker 7: to back to Tony. I think that was a big
- 4:17Speaker 7: part of it too. They thought, oh my gosh, the
- 4:19Speaker 7: Chiefs have won another magical game. But I don't know,
- 4:21Speaker 7: it just seemed over the top to me. With with Mahomes,
- 4:23Speaker 7: who you know, I mean, I still think he's the
- 4:25Speaker 7: best quarterback in the league. And but like you guys said,
- 4:27Speaker 7: I think it's really this is these are bigger issues.
- 4:29Speaker 9: And.
- 4:32Speaker 5: I think a lot of that frustration comes from his
- 4:34Speaker 5: patients through through this season, with his wide receivers dropping passes.
- 4:38Speaker 5: I think more of that frustration was on them than
- 4:40Speaker 5: on the rest.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Yeah, and another one of my dumb receivers now lost
- 4:44Speaker 1: us the game. Yeah.
- 4:45Speaker 3: You know, there's so much of their offense that is
- 4:50Speaker 3: like parallel to some of the down years for the
- 4:52Speaker 3: Patriots with Brady, where their receivers and mahomes just aren't
- 4:57Speaker 3: on the same page in a lot of instances where
- 4:59Speaker 3: he's a expecting them to run the route one way,
- 5:01Speaker 3: they kind of run it a different way, and they're
- 5:04Speaker 3: just missing these plays as a result. You know, against
- 5:07Speaker 3: the Packers, he has Marcus Valdez scantling streaking down the
- 5:10Speaker 3: field and MVS kind of bends it in. He expected
- 5:14Speaker 3: him to kind of level it off, and it's just
- 5:16Speaker 3: that little bit of difference. And those are always the
- 5:18Speaker 3: little things with Brady that I just remember him phasing
- 5:23Speaker 3: guys out or just being frustrated by the fact that
- 5:26Speaker 3: it wasn't you know that we're we're not talented enough necessarily.
- 5:29Speaker 3: It's just these little details that when you're a championship
- 5:33Speaker 3: team are mostly buttoned up. And for the Chiefs right now, offensively,
- 5:37Speaker 3: it's not buttoned up. And I think for Mahomes that's
- 5:40Speaker 3: got to be inferior.
- 5:41Speaker 4: And it's weird to.
- 5:41Speaker 5: See a team there used to be an example of
- 5:44Speaker 5: and they still are. They can be an example of
- 5:46Speaker 5: a team that can have self inflicted wounds but recover
- 5:48Speaker 5: from them and bounce back and still score at the
- 5:50Speaker 5: end of the game. But it's tough when you're playing
- 5:53Speaker 5: a team that can also do that, like the Bills,
- 5:54Speaker 5: Like they can have self inflicted wounds, but they can
- 5:56Speaker 5: also come back to the end of.
- 5:58Speaker 1: The game and win the end of it. Sometimes the
- 6:00Speaker 1: clock has something to do with it, and this particular
- 6:02Speaker 1: self inflicted wound came too late. You couldn't make up.
- 6:06Speaker 1: But think about it. I mean, we all watched that game.
- 6:08Speaker 1: I'm assuming the announcer first team to twenty wins the
- 6:12Speaker 1: Bills in the Chiefs first team to twenty wins.
- 6:16Speaker 6: Wait a minute, what he said that with ten minutes
- 6:19Speaker 6: left in the game, with seen.
- 6:21Speaker 1: No he said that he had said it very.
- 6:23Speaker 3: I didn't hear him say it earlier. I watched the
- 6:25Speaker 3: whole game.
- 6:26Speaker 1: No, but he said I didn't hear it either, But
- 6:28Speaker 1: he is, we said earlier twenty first team to twenty
- 6:31Speaker 1: wins and here we go.
- 6:33Speaker 3: You know, he said, so he knew that there was
- 6:35Speaker 3: going to be a penalty.
- 6:36Speaker 1: No, he knew it was going to be a low
- 6:38Speaker 1: scoring game.
- 6:39Speaker 6: Well, I know he said it. He said that in
- 6:41Speaker 6: the fourth quarter of a seventeen seventeen game.
- 6:43Speaker 1: But he claims he said it earlier.
- 6:45Speaker 6: I think he still should have been wrong because it
- 6:47Speaker 6: should have been the second team to twenty that would
- 6:49Speaker 6: have had the lead with minute eight left.
- 6:51Speaker 1: Anyway, but that was That's weird, you know, those two teams.
- 6:56Speaker 3: Can we normalize the laterals? Though? The Chargers ran one
- 7:01Speaker 3: a few weeks ago that worked on third down and
- 7:03Speaker 3: they threw it out. I think it was keenan Allen
- 7:05Speaker 3: threw it out to Eckler or something like that, and
- 7:08Speaker 3: this one worked. It just was he was off, like.
- 7:10Speaker 1: Still ill advised, right, because you're in field goal position
- 7:12Speaker 1: at the least you're going to tie the game, and
- 7:14Speaker 1: now you you're jeopardizing.
- 7:16Speaker 3: I don't know, I feel like that's an underutilized play
- 7:19Speaker 3: because nobody ever covers to Darius Tony in that situation
- 7:23Speaker 3: like that.
- 7:23Speaker 7: That Never I heard the design play though.
- 7:27Speaker 1: The only reason was because he was dogging it. Oh
- 7:29Speaker 1: I thought it. No, I'm serious.
- 7:32Speaker 6: I heard Tony was hitting defenders on the way down.
- 7:36Speaker 6: I did never saw that.
- 7:37Speaker 1: I guess.
- 7:38Speaker 3: I'm sure somebody asked them. I thought it was designed
- 7:40Speaker 3: because the Chiefs do stuff like that. So that was
- 7:43Speaker 3: so far after we caught the ball and he had run,
- 7:46Speaker 3: so like maybe it wasn't design design, but that's within
- 7:50Speaker 3: their Yeah, just just.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Throw it anyway. So that's that game.
- 7:56Speaker 6: It was fascinating, I will say that. And it was
- 7:58Speaker 6: another like I just think another a great game with
- 8:02Speaker 6: you know, like the good teams like I see some
- 8:05Speaker 6: people because of what you just mentioned, Fred, it's twenty
- 8:07Speaker 6: to seventeen. It was a great game.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Yeah, it was a good game.
- 8:10Speaker 6: I mean, Kansas City's defense has played at a level
- 8:13Speaker 6: much higher than they've played at in the last several years.
- 8:15Speaker 6: And I agree with what Evan said. This is all
- 8:18Speaker 6: self inflicted by the Chiefs themselves. This is all their
- 8:21Speaker 6: ownership and their general manager. You chose to do this.
- 8:25Speaker 6: You chose to say, just like we used to critique
- 8:28Speaker 6: the Patriots, at times, you're putting too much on break.
- 8:31Speaker 6: You're taking too much for granted that the quarterback will
- 8:35Speaker 6: always fix it. And you can't have thirty three drops
- 8:37Speaker 6: and just expect to be you know, thirteen and two, right,
- 8:41Speaker 6: you're eight and five for you know whatever, the you
- 8:43Speaker 6: know the amount of games forget math. You know me,
- 8:45Speaker 6: I'm not good, but.
- 8:46Speaker 3: Their margin of error is much thinner this year than
- 8:48Speaker 3: it has been in the past. Yeah, where they don't
- 8:51Speaker 3: have you're talking about it on our little preview. It's
- 8:55Speaker 3: Travis kelcey and it's Mahomes magic. And other than that,
- 8:59Speaker 3: they're offense really doesn't have very I'm watching the.
- 9:02Speaker 6: Game last night with Tennessee and Miami. Another terrific game
- 9:06Speaker 6: and improbable comeback. DeAndre Hopkins is uncoverable. Kansas City, to me,
- 9:14Speaker 6: is a super Bowl caliber team that easily could have
- 9:17Speaker 6: signed DeAndre Hopkins.
- 9:18Speaker 3: Yep, you're telling me he can still play, right, So
- 9:22Speaker 3: this is all.
- 9:23Speaker 6: Your own fault. This is not because Mahomes is having
- 9:25Speaker 6: a bad year. I think he's playing at a level
- 9:27Speaker 6: higher than I've ever seen him play. I agree, and
- 9:30Speaker 6: you know, considering what he's had to do. I think
- 9:33Speaker 6: it's just like some of those Brady I think Evan's
- 9:35Speaker 6: dead on. I think it's like a twenty thirteen Brady
- 9:38Speaker 6: year or something like.
- 9:38Speaker 7: That, even like taking the fly oh six, the former
- 9:41Speaker 7: first round pick Tony and like, you know, trying to
- 9:43Speaker 7: be like he's.
- 9:43Speaker 6: Got talent, got anything, but when you when you have
- 9:47Speaker 6: that many and then the frustration too with the officials
- 9:51Speaker 6: and listen, I don't think anybody.
- 9:52Speaker 3: Would argue that the guy wasn't offside, right, he was offside, Oh.
- 9:55Speaker 6: Yeah, But it's a culmination of them really getting the
- 10:01Speaker 6: short end of the stick with the officials week after
- 10:04Speaker 6: week after we I mean the green Bay game, pathetic
- 10:07Speaker 6: display of officiating, and that comes, you know, and that's
- 10:10Speaker 6: why I thought it was unbelievable that he blew his cork,
- 10:14Speaker 6: because if you weren't going to do it after that
- 10:16Speaker 6: green Bay play where they just tackled Valdez Scantling on
- 10:20Speaker 6: a potential big play and he took the high road,
- 10:23Speaker 6: and then this week he lost. He was like so
- 10:28Speaker 6: out of character, but that.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Was bad officiating. The worst call of the weekend was
- 10:34Speaker 1: Army Navy. Oh my god, if you watch that.
- 10:37Speaker 6: I'm sure you didn't.
- 10:39Speaker 3: I watched the end of the game, and I mean
- 10:41Speaker 3: they had from.
- 10:42Speaker 1: Reviewers and the angle was clear, and they still.
- 10:46Speaker 6: Didn't over They had one particular shot that showed it
- 10:49Speaker 6: actually hit its like his his shint, like his ankle,
- 10:52Speaker 6: like it wasn't even his foot, like sometimes the foots
- 10:55Speaker 6: on the ground. Is it hitting the ground, is hitting
- 10:57Speaker 6: the foot? It hit like up on his ankle. And
- 11:00Speaker 6: I was like, oh, well, there's no way they can't
- 11:02Speaker 6: can't overturn it. Now, I've never.
- 11:04Speaker 7: Seen anything like it with the Army sideline because initially
- 11:06Speaker 7: they were like they were celebrating.
- 11:09Speaker 1: They were, and then it was like what it was clear,
- 11:12Speaker 1: It was clear.
- 11:13Speaker 6: And I'm sorry what they're talking about. So it's ten
- 11:16Speaker 6: to nothing, Army. Army is completely dominating the game. It's
- 11:20Speaker 6: the fourth quarter, yet think it was the fourth quarter.
- 11:24Speaker 6: Navy can't move the.
- 11:25Speaker 3: Ball at all because they haven't turned a pass yet.
- 11:27Speaker 6: Army punts and down inside their tent or around their ten.
- 11:35Speaker 6: To your point, the kid that lacked the athleticism to
- 11:39Speaker 6: be returning punts has the ball hit off his foot ankle,
- 11:43Speaker 6: and Army recovers and they say that it didn't hit him,
- 11:47Speaker 6: So they go to re well, can well, we'll get
- 11:50Speaker 6: it in post. We'll catch it in replay. They show
- 11:53Speaker 6: the replay as clear as day. It hits the guy
- 11:56Speaker 6: and it's the ruling on the field is confronted. The
- 11:59Speaker 6: guy who got the returner for Navy. As soon as
- 12:02Speaker 6: the ball hit his foot, chased it, sprinted to the
- 12:05Speaker 6: ball to try to get it. That's how you know.
- 12:07Speaker 3: Yeah, Like, even if it's like you're looking.
- 12:10Speaker 7: That's why I always sat Edelman and in Kansas City.
- 12:12Speaker 3: That's what I was thinking.
- 12:13Speaker 6: Yeah, and I'm sorry. I think there's something going on
- 12:18Speaker 6: with the play like that. It's ten to nothing, this
- 12:20Speaker 6: is their signature game. The game's going to be over
- 12:22Speaker 6: if Army recovers this fumble, it's gonna be seventeen nothing.
- 12:25Speaker 6: That's game, you know what. We can make an argument
- 12:28Speaker 6: here that we didn't see it. I absolutely think there was.
- 12:31Speaker 1: Something to keep people watching until they sing at the.
- 12:34Speaker 3: Yeah, especially because when it's seventeen to nothing, we're just
- 12:36Speaker 3: going to run QB drops as well.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Just keep this close.
- 12:39Speaker 6: An Army's quarterback would have really been Army's quarterback was
- 12:43Speaker 6: was was bigger than Earl Campbell. Yah, his eyes.
- 12:47Speaker 7: You don't want to steal your joke, but you're thinking
- 12:49Speaker 7: about suddenly eight Navy's gonna some one of those teas
- 12:51Speaker 7: is going to hire somebody with like who runs a
- 12:52Speaker 7: spread offense, and they're just going to dominate the game forever.
- 12:55Speaker 7: Because like with Navy, like I mean, I don't understand
- 12:57Speaker 7: why it doesn't happen. No, the punp thing aside, Like
- 13:00Speaker 7: just all of a sudden, they were down, they started
- 13:02Speaker 7: throwing it. They're making them downfield plays, they're goup up
- 13:04Speaker 7: right down the field.
- 13:05Speaker 6: It was like, well then it turned into an unbelievable game.
- 13:07Speaker 6: But I think that that to your point, Mike, Army
- 13:12Speaker 6: sideline was so deflated. All of a sudden, Navy goes
- 13:14Speaker 6: right down the field and they get a field goal.
- 13:16Speaker 6: Now it's game on.
- 13:16Speaker 7: There were some great pass defenses though by Navy. I
- 13:18Speaker 7: mean there was one guy close to the end that
- 13:20Speaker 7: I mean it looked like, oh man, they got a touchdown.
- 13:22Speaker 6: He number eighty seven for Army couldn't play wide and
- 13:24Speaker 6: receieve rit Bishop Fenwick High School. That's how many passes
- 13:27Speaker 6: he dropped or plays that he didn't make that he
- 13:30Speaker 6: should have.
- 13:31Speaker 3: Yeah, I turned it on in the in the fourth
- 13:33Speaker 3: quarter to watch the end and they had like ninety
- 13:37Speaker 3: combined passing yards in the game. Army had fifty four
- 13:40Speaker 3: passing yards in the first half.
- 13:41Speaker 10: That was it.
- 13:41Speaker 6: They didn't get anymore. Navy had none in the first.
- 13:44Speaker 3: Half, and I just I was like, well, I hate
- 13:47Speaker 3: to say, I told you the atmosphere was great.
- 13:49Speaker 7: Yeah, And that's like because it was my first time
- 13:51Speaker 7: ever going to one of those games and covering it,
- 13:53Speaker 7: and it was it was really cool. I mean, it
- 13:55Speaker 7: was just people were in the stadium like nine ten
- 13:57Speaker 7: am game is a start till three. There was just
- 13:59Speaker 7: so much to see. I mean, the flyovers, the guys
- 14:01Speaker 7: parachuting in, just the energy. It's so rare to see
- 14:05Speaker 7: basically half the lower bowl filled with the Cadets and
- 14:08Speaker 7: the midshipman and then just dancing.
- 14:11Speaker 6: And I've never seen the stadium like that. And I've
- 14:13Speaker 6: seen the stadium losing control by the way, the stadium
- 14:18Speaker 6: out of control, you know, nothing that.
- 14:21Speaker 7: Into the Cadets and Army had. They had like this
- 14:24Speaker 7: little tank that was parked down there, and you know,
- 14:26Speaker 7: not a real tank, of course, but how to launch
- 14:29Speaker 7: right launcher. I've been looking for my whole life, there's
- 14:31Speaker 7: out of the tank and could you feel it shooting out?
- 14:34Speaker 7: Well looked it looked like. I mean there were like
- 14:35Speaker 7: a lot of tubes need Government Clarence for that kind
- 14:40Speaker 7: of stuff, because I was like, man, that's got to
- 14:41Speaker 7: be hooked up to like an air tank of Freddy
- 14:44Speaker 7: launching them.
- 14:45Speaker 6: I just thought we provided a great stage for it
- 14:48Speaker 6: and just has there been any time do you know
- 14:50Speaker 6: if we're gonna like try to do that again.
- 14:52Speaker 1: Oh, they're going to try to get it again.
- 14:54Speaker 6: Yeah. I just thought, you know, not to be cheesy,
- 14:57Speaker 6: but I thought it was a really good weekend for
- 14:59Speaker 6: the organization.
- 15:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:00Speaker 5: I mean even like looking at the tunnel and stuff
- 15:03Speaker 5: being like repainted, all the Army stuff put up like
- 15:06Speaker 5: on their locker room, you know, replacing all the Patriots stuff.
- 15:08Speaker 5: It was just really cool to see the stadium like
- 15:11Speaker 5: flip for the game.
- 15:11Speaker 7: It was kind of overwhelming, like there was just so
- 15:13Speaker 7: much going on, and I was glad that I tuned
- 15:16Speaker 7: into College Game Day and they did like you know
- 15:18Speaker 7: preview of it and stuff, so it just you know,
- 15:20Speaker 7: talking about the history and then they just go into
- 15:21Speaker 7: like the uniforms, like all the detail that goes into
- 15:24Speaker 7: the uniforms and what they represent and what units they're
- 15:26Speaker 7: trying to honor with.
- 15:27Speaker 1: I mean, there's just so many.
- 15:28Speaker 6: The name plates for the Army players that were on
- 15:31Speaker 6: the front, like you know, like their uniform.
- 15:33Speaker 1: Yeah, that was that was cool, good stuff. That was awesome.
- 15:36Speaker 7: So there's a lot to keep tracking.
- 15:38Speaker 3: Face.
- 15:39Speaker 6: Evan watched literally thirty seconds, so I'm even worse than Evan.
- 15:43Speaker 6: I watched the whole game, and on the strip sack
- 15:47Speaker 6: return for a touchdown made seventeen to three with.
- 15:49Speaker 3: I don't know what four minutes left.
- 15:50Speaker 7: Something like that.
- 15:51Speaker 6: There's late, yeah, I thought so. Beth and I had
- 15:54Speaker 6: plans to go out. We're meeting another another couple out
- 15:57Speaker 6: to dinner anyway, So as soon as that play happened,
- 15:59Speaker 6: I was like, yeah, well that's game anyway. Yeah, right,
- 16:03Speaker 6: so we go and I get So by the time
- 16:06Speaker 6: we had gotten there, Will had texted me it's like
- 16:08Speaker 6: they just let Navy go right down the field and score.
- 16:11Speaker 6: So now it's on the in the TV the place
- 16:14Speaker 6: that we had gone. So I ended up watching the
- 16:16Speaker 6: rest of it. But I watched the whole game, but
- 16:19Speaker 6: I missed that like pulsating ending, you know.
- 16:22Speaker 7: You know it's it was.
- 16:25Speaker 6: I just can't believe Navy couldn't move the ball all day.
- 16:27Speaker 6: And then they moved it at will be called.
- 16:30Speaker 3: The forward pass, and they figured out that that is
- 16:34Speaker 3: legal in football, which I know is it's surprising.
- 16:37Speaker 6: Had not they were trying to pass before that and
- 16:40Speaker 6: couldn't do it, he had review done their job, the
- 16:42Speaker 6: game would have been, no doubt.
- 16:44Speaker 7: The weird thing to me was just that that the
- 16:46Speaker 7: Navy started this one quarterback and did I mean they
- 16:48Speaker 7: couldn't do anything anything, And then they put this other
- 16:51Speaker 7: kid in I don't know after the first quarter, and
- 16:52Speaker 7: then that kid like he was best big, could run
- 16:55Speaker 7: a little bit, and then he was he was definitely
- 16:57Speaker 7: a better pass right too.
- 16:58Speaker 10: All right?
- 16:59Speaker 1: What else? You know? The Patriots game going back?
- 17:02Speaker 10: Hey?
- 17:03Speaker 7: Right, Well, how about just a quick shout out to
- 17:05Speaker 7: all the three win teams that won this weekend and
- 17:07Speaker 7: gave the Patriots just like.
- 17:10Speaker 4: The backup quarterback in general.
- 17:12Speaker 7: Something like that this weekend. The Giants one Tommy.
- 17:17Speaker 6: Johnson in playoff cont.
- 17:21Speaker 3: Five and eight, the Titans, Giants, Bears, and Jets and.
- 17:24Speaker 6: That and that crappy conference the Giants women playoff, so.
- 17:28Speaker 3: That those were all four win teams that became five
- 17:32Speaker 3: win teams. So now the Patriots have a two game
- 17:35Speaker 3: lead on everybody besides the Commanders who are four and nine.
- 17:41Speaker 7: And we got we got the tie breaker. Of course,
- 17:43Speaker 7: the tiebreaker now means that we're.
- 17:45Speaker 3: So I have to look this up again because I
- 17:48Speaker 3: only quickly. But I don't think that head to head
- 17:50Speaker 3: is that.
- 17:51Speaker 6: I don't think when you're going down schedule.
- 17:55Speaker 3: Strength to schedule. So the fact that the Commanders beat
- 17:57Speaker 3: the Patriots actually is not who's the O.
- 18:00Speaker 1: C over in the Giants, because whoever it is is
- 18:03Speaker 1: doing a good job.
- 18:04Speaker 3: By Kfka, it's all, Yes, that's a guy I can't
- 18:07Speaker 3: that's a guy I was interested in for a head coach.
- 18:10Speaker 3: He was one of my Ben Johnson types. I told
- 18:13Speaker 3: you I talked to mob about her. I mean, you
- 18:16Speaker 3: get the cutlets to play like that and you're.
- 18:18Speaker 1: On the rain.
- 18:19Speaker 3: Did you watch the game last night?
- 18:20Speaker 6: In all, seriously, a little bit of it.
- 18:22Speaker 3: He played pretty well last he did it made it
- 18:23Speaker 3: really good. He was under attack the whole game. He
- 18:25Speaker 3: made a really good throw and the touchdown throw on
- 18:27Speaker 3: the move was it was a dime. And then the
- 18:30Speaker 3: throw to Wanda Robinson on the game winning the game
- 18:32Speaker 3: winning drive.
- 18:32Speaker 5: Yeah, just cannot believe that his agent actually looks like that.
- 18:37Speaker 1: Like, it's just it was its perform it was it
- 18:42Speaker 1: was totally it.
- 18:44Speaker 7: Was lean into it. He's smart, he knows marketing.
- 18:48Speaker 4: I was blown. I was like, there's no way that's
- 18:51Speaker 4: what agent.
- 18:51Speaker 1: Did you see the thing that they giants social media
- 18:54Speaker 1: did with the veto and like talking Italians, social media
- 19:00Speaker 1: food influencer from New Jersey and they're talking about right,
- 19:03Speaker 1: that was really well though, Yeah, it was really well.
- 19:06Speaker 6: I just like, how you know you could just openly
- 19:09Speaker 6: just make fun of Italian people now and now we're
- 19:11Speaker 6: not even trying to hide it.
- 19:12Speaker 3: We're just why is Yeah, he is a town.
- 19:15Speaker 6: It looks like a guy who could get your stuff.
- 19:17Speaker 6: That that's what they're That's what they're tweeting out. Oh
- 19:20Speaker 6: he knows where the gobba ghul is.
- 19:21Speaker 1: Like, I think you should file al.
- 19:25Speaker 6: If I was really offended.
- 19:26Speaker 1: Maybe so, but let's talk about our quarter. Yeah, let's
- 19:31Speaker 1: do it. Bailey's appy, what do we think?
- 19:33Speaker 7: Nice first quarter and a third?
- 19:35Speaker 3: Twenty three minutes, twenty three minutes.
- 19:38Speaker 5: I would say, considering what he had available, I was
- 19:42Speaker 5: pretty shocked with the outcome just because obviously no DeVante Parker,
- 19:45Speaker 5: kishan booty to Mario Douglas, like just Ramandra Stevenson, just
- 19:49Speaker 5: not having those I wasn't I don't know. I guess
- 19:51Speaker 5: I wasn't going in there expecting much. I was really
- 19:53Speaker 5: expecting like a ten six game. Definitely wasn't expecting three
- 19:57Speaker 5: touchdowns like that.
- 19:58Speaker 1: The way it felt to me is the Patriots took
- 20:01Speaker 1: advantage of the Steelers kind of sleepwalking through the first half,
- 20:04Speaker 1: and I think that they made adjustments second half, and
- 20:07Speaker 1: I think the Patriots knew they were making and catching
- 20:11Speaker 1: on to what was going on, and I think they
- 20:13Speaker 1: became conservative because they didn't want to take any chances,
- 20:16Speaker 1: you know, in the second half. That was just my
- 20:19Speaker 1: like overall impression of the game.
- 20:22Speaker 7: I was just shocked at how bad Trubisky was, Like,
- 20:24Speaker 7: I mean, I know he's bad, but I didn't think
- 20:26Speaker 7: he was that bad. I mean, he just he couldn't
- 20:28Speaker 7: do anything yet that in that game. But yeah, it's
- 20:32Speaker 7: like a glimpse from ZAPPI I think is what you
- 20:34Speaker 7: take from it, and you know it's it's nothing.
- 20:37Speaker 1: Really.
- 20:37Speaker 7: Two weeks ago against the Chargers, you put together I
- 20:39Speaker 7: mean about a half. Will Gi him a half of football?
- 20:42Speaker 7: You know, can he Bill? Can he can?
- 20:43Speaker 10: He?
- 20:43Speaker 7: Can he do something against this Chiefs.
- 20:45Speaker 1: And I think when he was, you know, throwing it
- 20:47Speaker 1: around in the first half, he you know, and people say,
- 20:50Speaker 1: I'm not the first person to say this, but he
- 20:52Speaker 1: did it with confidence, like he was stepping into the
- 20:55Speaker 1: ball and throwing with purpose and you know, there was
- 20:58Speaker 1: no hesitation. And I'd rather have a guy fail doing
- 21:02Speaker 1: that than you know, yeah, you know, play playing scared
- 21:06Speaker 1: to playing conservatives.
- 21:07Speaker 5: I agree, Like if you're if you're worried about the
- 21:09Speaker 5: pass rush before the balls even snapped, like, I don't
- 21:11Speaker 5: want you out there, and so I'd rather have Bailey
- 21:13Speaker 5: Zappy out there confident. I mean he might not, you know,
- 21:16Speaker 5: look that much better than Mac in terms of like production,
- 21:19Speaker 5: but as long as he's doing it confidently and not.
- 21:21Speaker 3: Freaking out for everything.
- 21:23Speaker 7: Yeah, watching Max so much, it was just seeing the
- 21:25Speaker 7: ball come out on time, step into throws, you know,
- 21:27Speaker 7: knowing where he's going with it, and just and firing it.
- 21:29Speaker 7: I just those are the things that gotten away from
- 21:32Speaker 7: Mac for whatever reason, and that you know, to me,
- 21:34Speaker 7: it wasn't consistent, but there were enough of a sample
- 21:37Speaker 7: size there where it said geez, he looks like there's
- 21:39Speaker 7: a little pocket there. He's got a feel for it.
- 21:41Speaker 7: He's stepping into these things.
- 21:42Speaker 1: It was the ball early to Juju. It wasn't a
- 21:44Speaker 1: great throw. It was underthrown. But I think Mac would
- 21:47Speaker 1: have not thrown that. I think he would have like,
- 21:49Speaker 1: I can't throw that.
- 21:50Speaker 7: Yeah, Now there's no dropping his eyes. He's keeping his
- 21:53Speaker 7: eyes down. He I mean, those elements are promising. There
- 21:55Speaker 7: wasn't productive in the second half, So I mean, you
- 21:57Speaker 7: don't you can't you know, walk around saying, oh, do
- 21:59Speaker 7: we have our starter for twenty twenty four here? Like,
- 22:01Speaker 7: I mean, I think people are going a little bit
- 22:03Speaker 7: overboard with some of the reaction. And I mean I
- 22:06Speaker 7: get it. You want, you know, you want to feel
- 22:08Speaker 7: good about something right now, and so it's like you
- 22:09Speaker 7: get this little bone and all of a sudden you're like,
- 22:11Speaker 7: oh my gosh, you know, you're you're you're got a
- 22:13Speaker 7: little bit excited what's going.
- 22:14Speaker 5: But also what's it going to take to finally see
- 22:16Speaker 5: Malik Cunningham, you know, second game in a row that
- 22:18Speaker 5: he's elevated to the roster and then we don't see him.
- 22:21Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 22:21Speaker 3: I don't think Malie Cunningham is good. I think that
- 22:24Speaker 3: they They've made that very clear. The first twenty three
- 22:27Speaker 3: minutes for Zappy were the best quarterback play they've had
- 22:29Speaker 3: all year, Like decisive, confident, making throws down the field,
- 22:34Speaker 3: making throws against the blitz which I thought was a
- 22:36Speaker 3: big part of The Steelers came into this game and
- 22:39Speaker 3: they thought that Patriots have no receivers. Even the receivers
- 22:41Speaker 3: they have it are not available. So we're gonna blit Zappy.
- 22:44Speaker 3: We're gonna eat them up. We're gonna make the receivers
- 22:47Speaker 3: beat them, beat us down the field. And they did,
- 22:49Speaker 3: you know, And I think that kind of took the
- 22:50Speaker 3: Steelers a little bit by surprise. And in the second
- 22:53Speaker 3: half they stopped blitzing, and they put some more guys
- 22:56Speaker 3: in coverage and they were able to make it a
- 23:00Speaker 3: little bit harder. But I thought that in general, the
- 23:03Speaker 3: play calling changed for the Patriots. The Patriots parked the
- 23:05Speaker 3: bus in the second half. They held on for dear life,
- 23:08Speaker 3: and I was a little disappointed by that. Watching it back,
- 23:10Speaker 3: I was like, all right, so for the first twenty
- 23:12Speaker 3: three minutes, you have a nearly seventy percent pass rate.
- 23:15Speaker 3: Dappy's throwing the ball all over the field.
- 23:17Speaker 6: Oh who, wha, wha wha wha, breaking news, breaking news?
- 23:20Speaker 6: Should we play? We don't have any breaking news.
- 23:23Speaker 7: Era, prepare yourself. The Baltimore Ravens have signed from the
- 23:28Speaker 7: Patriots practice squad Malik Cunning.
- 23:31Speaker 1: Oh wow, makes sense for them.
- 23:35Speaker 5: Also, just funny that that as soon as I said that, oh.
- 23:40Speaker 3: Man, wow, crazy, it a lot of comforting.
- 23:42Speaker 4: I think. I think that makes a lot of sense.
- 23:45Speaker 5: I mean in terms of if you need a backup quarterback,
- 23:48Speaker 5: he's someone who you can put in and not necessarily
- 23:51Speaker 5: have to change the.
- 23:51Speaker 4: Entire offense dramatically. But it's sad to.
- 23:55Speaker 7: Seem did they have some kind of injury or something?
- 23:58Speaker 6: He is this guy plays defensive tackle and wrong safety.
- 24:01Speaker 6: I didn't realize this on NFL network is a safety?
- 24:05Speaker 6: Josh mattelis Minnesota. My guess is that he doesn't really
- 24:09Speaker 6: play defensive.
- 24:10Speaker 3: Tackle right he's lining up over the center in their
- 24:14Speaker 3: pass rushing front.
- 24:16Speaker 6: But whatever, never mind, So that's it. That is interesting.
- 24:19Speaker 1: So now mac Jones is back to back up.
- 24:22Speaker 3: Maybe how do you know he wasn't the bat?
- 24:24Speaker 1: I think curiosity, Well, he wasn't on Thursday night.
- 24:29Speaker 6: How do you know that.
- 24:31Speaker 1: They because the two of them came out. It was
- 24:34Speaker 1: Bailey and they came out of the tunnel.
- 24:37Speaker 6: Yeah, and Mac Jones was talking to Bill O'Brien while
- 24:40Speaker 6: that was going on.
- 24:41Speaker 3: I'm just glad that we can.
- 24:42Speaker 6: We had the highlights, we had the pictures.
- 24:45Speaker 3: Malik Cunningham ridiculousness. Like clearly if this guy was in
- 24:49Speaker 3: behind closed doors just making plays all over the field
- 24:52Speaker 3: when you're three and ten, you would put him in
- 24:54Speaker 3: the game. And every week it's, oh, you gotta play
- 24:57Speaker 3: the leak. They gotta play the leak. Well he's a
- 24:59Speaker 3: raven now, oh wow, Anger the vitrio.
- 25:03Speaker 6: Yeah, I agree with Fred though. It makes sense for
- 25:06Speaker 6: the Ravens. You have it, that's the offense that you
- 25:08Speaker 6: run in something.
- 25:10Speaker 3: He's literally dollar store Lamark Jackson. I mean they both
- 25:12Speaker 3: played Atville and like everything.
- 25:14Speaker 1: Speaking of Anger, a lot of people were on the
- 25:17Speaker 1: Steelers fans for the incessant booing in the first half
- 25:20Speaker 1: that I think who was on them? Just like all
- 25:24Speaker 1: radio people and I was listening to the broadcast in
- 25:27Speaker 1: my ear.
- 25:27Speaker 6: Why would you not be booing?
- 25:29Speaker 5: So first of all, so it's okay for the Patriots
- 25:32Speaker 5: fans to boom Mac Jones all day long, but it's
- 25:34Speaker 5: not okay for them to do that.
- 25:35Speaker 1: I think they were pissed that they were losing to
- 25:37Speaker 1: the Patriots.
- 25:38Speaker 3: That's what I think.
- 25:39Speaker 1: They were mad.
- 25:40Speaker 3: It's one thing to lose, it's another thing to, as
- 25:42Speaker 3: you said, to not show up for the game.
- 25:44Speaker 1: Yeah, they were, they were, They were pissed off.
- 25:47Speaker 6: They had a guy played in that game, and I'm
- 25:49Speaker 6: not lying. It's the worst performance I've seen from an
- 25:51Speaker 6: NFL player all year. That Michael Walker kid, who on
- 25:55Speaker 6: the same played to the flat six times, was allowing
- 26:01Speaker 6: himself to get caught up in the wash and not
- 26:03Speaker 6: be able to tackle Ezekiel Elliot because he was nowhere
- 26:06Speaker 6: near him. Like they were not in that game. But
- 26:08Speaker 6: I wouldn't blamed them for who was arguing that they
- 26:10Speaker 6: shouldn't be booing an NFL game? What is this a
- 26:14Speaker 6: high school game?
- 26:14Speaker 1: I saw on Twitter during the broadcasters saying, wow, listen
- 26:17Speaker 1: to these fans, they're tough.
- 26:19Speaker 6: Oh okay, So they weren't complaining that they were booing.
- 26:21Speaker 6: They would just come in and on the booing.
- 26:23Speaker 7: Malik's already got a statement to ESPN. I mean, I
- 26:26Speaker 7: want to thank.
- 26:28Speaker 6: Put it all through Tamara and coach. You should be
- 26:30Speaker 6: issuing that statement on his behalf.
- 26:34Speaker 7: He just thanks everybody, and he's excited to be a
- 26:36Speaker 7: Baltimore Ravens.
- 26:37Speaker 6: So I'm excited to be the third string quarterback of
- 26:40Speaker 6: the Ravens instead of the Patriots.
- 26:42Speaker 7: Hey, he's on the active roster. A little bump and pay,
- 26:44Speaker 7: I'm sure, and good for a leak.
- 26:48Speaker 1: So pretty much he has to be on their active
- 26:49Speaker 1: roster for the rest of the season.
- 26:51Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I believe three weeks.
- 26:53Speaker 1: Yeah, it was only four weeks left.
- 26:54Speaker 7: Yeah, so maybe he uh.
- 26:57Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 26:57Speaker 7: How do you guys feel after her? Kansas City lost,
- 27:00Speaker 7: Miami lost to You know what, how are you feeling
- 27:02Speaker 7: about the AFC right now? You feel like chance?
- 27:05Speaker 6: I think I have a very strange, probably way of
- 27:08Speaker 6: looking at I think the AFC is so much better
- 27:09Speaker 6: than the NFC, even though the three best teams quote
- 27:13Speaker 6: unquote record wise are in the NFC. I think the
- 27:15Speaker 6: NFC is so bad. San Francisco, No, but I mean
- 27:19Speaker 6: after that, teams like San Francisco, in Dallas and Philadelphia
- 27:23Speaker 6: are obviously very good teams. I think San Francisco is
- 27:25Speaker 6: the best team in football. I don't think the same
- 27:28Speaker 6: of Dallas and Philadelphia. San Francisco, to me, is the
- 27:30Speaker 6: best team in football. Like you're talking about the eleventh
- 27:34Speaker 6: team in the AFC. Buffalo dominated Philadelphia, right, you know,
- 27:39Speaker 6: Miami had every opportunity to win a game in Philadelphia
- 27:42Speaker 6: if not for an eleven nothing differential in penalties like
- 27:46Speaker 6: these are like Buffalo is seven and six in the AFC.
- 27:50Speaker 6: It's a war. The AFC is an absolute war zone.
- 27:53Speaker 6: I think you guys are absolutely right. I think it's
- 27:55Speaker 6: wide open. I think you could say that they're not
- 27:58Speaker 6: that good because no one's emerged, and that that could
- 28:01Speaker 6: be right. I don't know. I think it's they're all
- 28:04Speaker 6: so good they just kick the crap out of each other.
- 28:06Speaker 5: I also think that's pretty shocking to have it be
- 28:08Speaker 5: a war zone when so many AFC quarterbacks are out.
- 28:12Speaker 6: And that's also part of the reason why I feel
- 28:14Speaker 6: the way I feel like Cincinnati's roster is so good.
- 28:17Speaker 6: They're just throwing screen passes for this kid and he
- 28:20Speaker 6: you know, like this. I don't know if you guys
- 28:22Speaker 6: watched any this week. No, he's not throwing dart he's
- 28:26Speaker 6: not throwing darts and stry downfield.
- 28:29Speaker 3: IU, I'm done.
- 28:32Speaker 6: He had over one hundred and thirty yards on three
- 28:35Speaker 6: screen passes the other day, Jake Ronnie, Now I watched
- 28:39Speaker 6: the Jacksonville game. That's not the same game. Point they
- 28:41Speaker 6: had in the Jacksonville game. He was throwing normal passes
- 28:43Speaker 6: in that game. But the other day it was just
- 28:46Speaker 6: like they were killing the Colts with you know, over
- 28:49Speaker 6: aggressiveness and getting you know, they also had a blatant
- 28:52Speaker 6: block in the back on a fifty five yard screen
- 28:55Speaker 6: pass touchdown that they let go. That's where I would
- 28:57Speaker 6: be really upset with the officiating like for these teams,
- 29:00Speaker 6: Like obviously we see a guy lined up offside, but
- 29:04Speaker 6: just the lack of consistency on when they are throwing
- 29:07Speaker 6: flags in general.
- 29:09Speaker 1: It goes.
- 29:11Speaker 6: Two blocks in the back on Baltimore's punt return for
- 29:13Speaker 6: a touchdown in overtime, and they weren't hard to see.
- 29:17Speaker 6: Like you're just watching the film, and I mean the
- 29:20Speaker 6: replay of not the film, the replay of the game.
- 29:22Speaker 6: I don't do that.
- 29:25Speaker 1: Did you watch Cowboys and Eagles? I mean how many how.
- 29:28Speaker 3: Many flags did they throw on Dallas in that game?
- 29:30Speaker 3: And just pick them up.
- 29:31Speaker 1: Even the announcer had to say, well, you know, the
- 29:33Speaker 1: rest are clearly setting the tone here with all these penalties, right.
- 29:36Speaker 6: And I have a theory on that too. Those two
- 29:40Speaker 6: major games that Philadelphia got every single call when they
- 29:43Speaker 6: beat Miami and Buffalo, I think there was a little
- 29:46Speaker 6: payback for the Eagle. I'm telling you there's something going
- 29:50Speaker 6: on with officiating this year that's not just normal bad officials.
- 29:54Speaker 1: It's not good. Whatever it is, it's not good.
- 29:56Speaker 7: Well, I mean, do you think with Patrick Mahomes losing
- 29:58Speaker 7: his mind is that gonna? I mean, I know it
- 30:04Speaker 7: wasn't a ticky.
- 30:05Speaker 6: Ta oh hit like and you know the other thing
- 30:07Speaker 6: that it was a ticky tack call, but you have
- 30:09Speaker 6: to call it.
- 30:11Speaker 1: Why is it ticky tack?
- 30:12Speaker 6: Because it didn't have anything to do with the play,
- 30:14Speaker 6: I know, but you can't line up and that's why
- 30:17Speaker 6: they and that's why they called it front.
- 30:18Speaker 3: I'll repeat it. I think they had to call it.
- 30:20Speaker 1: But it was so it's a ticky tack like if
- 30:22Speaker 1: it was a toe, I'd say that's tick. The guy's
- 30:24Speaker 1: body was in the neutral zone.
- 30:27Speaker 3: I understand what I'm saying, yes, But I also like
- 30:30Speaker 3: last night, I forget which game it was, because I
- 30:31Speaker 3: was flipping back and forth between the two. But they
- 30:33Speaker 3: called an illegal formation because like the tight end didn't
- 30:37Speaker 3: come like fully set and then he he set in time,
- 30:41Speaker 3: And I was like, these are the types of things
- 30:43Speaker 3: that maybe a hundred years ago, when you're running the
- 30:46Speaker 3: you know, Army Navy wishbone, like this mattered, but like
- 30:48Speaker 3: it doesn't matter anymore, Like why are we throwing flags
- 30:51Speaker 3: and like you know, costing games and things like that
- 30:54Speaker 3: on things that just don't have a bearing.
- 30:58Speaker 6: And that's my point, Like it didn't have anything to
- 31:01Speaker 6: do with the play itself, Like it's not like he
- 31:03Speaker 6: was running toward the line of scrimmage and therefore got
- 31:06Speaker 6: a step on the defensive back.
- 31:07Speaker 3: Yeah, I have to call that, That's what I think.
- 31:09Speaker 3: Patrick Mahomes's argument was not that now.
- 31:12Speaker 6: I think they have to call it because and I
- 31:14Speaker 6: thought someone on I think it was, Oh God, I
- 31:18Speaker 6: forget who it was. Was a former player I thought
- 31:20Speaker 6: made a great point, like what are we doing. We're
- 31:22Speaker 6: losing our minds over this stuff. It's very simple, like
- 31:25Speaker 6: should Buffalo have really won that game against Denver when
- 31:28Speaker 6: Denver missed the field goal because they had too many
- 31:30Speaker 6: men in the fi didn't have anything to do with
- 31:31Speaker 6: the play.
- 31:32Speaker 3: The twelfth guy was way over there, wasn't involved anywhere.
- 31:36Speaker 3: Like should we not call it because it didn't really
- 31:38Speaker 3: impact the play? No, they had twelve guys in the field.
- 31:41Speaker 3: You have to throw the flag, right, you have to right,
- 31:44Speaker 3: how do you fix and I think that guy's offside.
- 31:46Speaker 3: You have to throw the flag.
- 31:48Speaker 6: And by the way he was over the ball, he
- 31:51Speaker 6: wasn't even in the neutral zone. I know, did you
- 31:53Speaker 6: see that the poll report? What the referee said? No,
- 31:57Speaker 6: the guy whoever that the side judge or the line
- 32:00Speaker 6: and judge whatever, I don't know which one is the
- 32:02Speaker 6: guy that's you know, responsible for on the side there.
- 32:05Speaker 6: But he said he couldn't see the ball because he
- 32:09Speaker 6: was That's how far he was over the ball, right.
- 32:13Speaker 7: I mean his full time referees?
- 32:15Speaker 1: Is that?
- 32:15Speaker 7: Is that an answer?
- 32:16Speaker 10: Like?
- 32:16Speaker 7: What is the answers? Conspiracies?
- 32:19Speaker 3: But Paul in a in a room have a paull
- 32:22Speaker 3: at every single game up in the booth and when
- 32:25Speaker 3: they make it, I don't think you want. I'm just saying, like,
- 32:28Speaker 3: have somebody that.
- 32:30Speaker 1: Really do I'll tell you who got away with one.
- 32:33Speaker 1: The Patriots to on the play that wasn't that wasn't
- 32:38Speaker 1: a false start. The center jerked. They said, he moved his.
- 32:41Speaker 7: Hand right and then they said that and then you
- 32:43Speaker 7: look at it, they said, like, you know, if it's
- 32:46Speaker 7: an abrupt like the guy just like.
- 32:49Speaker 1: They said, he split his hand on the ball.
- 32:51Speaker 6: I know, I know they're trying to crack down on
- 32:52Speaker 6: that because I think that's a move on short yardage
- 32:55Speaker 6: on fourth downs. They're trying to prevent the long staff
- 32:57Speaker 6: from doing stuff. But it was another one of the
- 33:00Speaker 6: I was on with this after the game. Oh yeah,
- 33:02Speaker 6: he thinks you got to work.
- 33:03Speaker 7: You could see just from his reaction. It's like the
- 33:04Speaker 7: punt return like sometimes you watch the player, you know,
- 33:07Speaker 7: the offending player after a call. It's just their reaction
- 33:09Speaker 7: tells you whether or not it was a.
- 33:11Speaker 1: Call or not.
- 33:11Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't remember which it was the xfl AFF
- 33:16Speaker 3: whatever spring league it was, I don't remember, aye, but
- 33:19Speaker 3: they had like a sky judge and at the game,
- 33:24Speaker 3: and whenever there was one of these little judgment calls
- 33:27Speaker 3: going on, if he would watch the replay back quickly
- 33:31Speaker 3: and within ten seconds he'd be buzzing down to the
- 33:33Speaker 3: revs on the field and saying no, like we're not
- 33:36Speaker 3: he wasn't offside or he didn't fall start or whatever.
- 33:39Speaker 3: And I just feel like those are the things that
- 33:42Speaker 3: you can do it where it's not prolonging the game
- 33:45Speaker 3: for an hour, like you can do it where it's
- 33:47Speaker 3: prolonging the game for five minutes, and I think we
- 33:49Speaker 3: would all be better off for it.
- 33:51Speaker 6: I think the answer you a question, and I don't know,
- 33:54Speaker 6: like listen, there's no full proof method. Obviously these these
- 33:57Speaker 6: calls are going to get missed, but they need to
- 33:59Speaker 6: do something to samplify the rules so they're not so
- 34:02Speaker 6: complicated that we're looking at it and one guy is saying, well,
- 34:05Speaker 6: he slid his hand on the ball on a man or,
- 34:08Speaker 6: like what do we do?
- 34:09Speaker 7: And that's why you think, like getting all these guys
- 34:11Speaker 7: in a room like I don't know what the referee
- 34:13Speaker 7: process is like where they have like you know, we
- 34:15Speaker 7: have recap calls, you know, how do we do in
- 34:17Speaker 7: the game, Like I'm sure that there's something like that
- 34:19Speaker 7: in place, but it's at the same time, these guys
- 34:20Speaker 7: go back to their jobs. They have lives that they're leading,
- 34:23Speaker 7: and you know, I think the sky judge like it's
- 34:26Speaker 7: even thinking about like reughing youth hockey games. It's like, wow,
- 34:28Speaker 7: that really takes the pressure off of you know, if
- 34:30Speaker 7: I miss something or you know, I thought I saw
- 34:33Speaker 7: it one way. I mean, it's just it's it's hard
- 34:35Speaker 7: but going to be mistakes.
- 34:36Speaker 1: I've heard, you know, some theories that you know, having
- 34:39Speaker 1: the pressure off means they don't they're not as vigilant,
- 34:42Speaker 1: you know what I mean, Like, I know I'm going
- 34:44Speaker 1: to get corrected, so they're not as like on point.
- 34:46Speaker 7: Yeah, you know, I guess. I mean there's probably an
- 34:48Speaker 7: argument for for I mean, there's an argument for these
- 34:51Speaker 7: guys all go to like what Colorado springs and they
- 34:53Speaker 7: all study they do.
- 34:55Speaker 3: Yeah, I think there's a lot of rules that made sense,
- 35:00Speaker 3: and they were put into the rule book fifty years ago.
- 35:05Speaker 1: And that one.
- 35:06Speaker 6: I Felder's wrong on that, But we can do that
- 35:08Speaker 6: a different day.
- 35:09Speaker 1: I heard that rant, and I get it. The game
- 35:11Speaker 1: has changed and when the rule was made probably it
- 35:14Speaker 1: made sense. Now it doesn't. But if they changed that
- 35:18Speaker 1: rule or those types of rules or took them out,
- 35:21Speaker 1: a coach like Belichick would start taking advantage of that.
- 35:23Speaker 6: But not only that, Even if you don't change the
- 35:25Speaker 6: rules like he says, like, you can't tell the difference
- 35:27Speaker 6: between Trent Brown and Pop Douglas. No, Mike, but what's
- 35:32Speaker 6: what's just be the difference between if Pop Douglas is
- 35:35Speaker 6: on the line and it's Hunter Henry at the end, right,
- 35:38Speaker 6: and they're both on the line, only one of those
- 35:40Speaker 6: guys is an eligible receiver, right, right. So if there's
- 35:44Speaker 6: no rules, how do I how do I know who
- 35:47Speaker 6: to cover?
- 35:48Speaker 7: Chaos?
- 35:49Speaker 3: Like asked the Baltimore Ravens about that one, right, No,
- 35:52Speaker 3: but that at least was like, Uh, that was a
- 35:55Speaker 3: trick play.
- 35:56Speaker 6: This could be like an everyday Yeah.
- 35:59Speaker 3: I just think that there's certain things that are cluttering
- 36:02Speaker 3: the rule book because there's so many Like to your point,
- 36:05Speaker 3: there's so many rules, and I think some of these
- 36:08Speaker 3: rules could probably be taken out that we wouldn't.
- 36:11Speaker 6: Yeah, I think I think they could do that and
- 36:13Speaker 6: simplify things. The catches I think still adjudicated so inconsistently.
- 36:19Speaker 6: A couple of weeks ago, AJ Brown caught a pass
- 36:22Speaker 6: in overtime in that game against the Bills, took two
- 36:26Speaker 6: full steps and had a third almost down, got hit stripped,
- 36:30Speaker 6: fumble Buffalo recover. Should have been the end of the game,
- 36:32Speaker 6: they went to replay and said, no, incomplete pass. Fine,
- 36:36Speaker 6: I watch a pass that Josh Allen completes down the
- 36:39Speaker 6: sideline ti Latavius Murray that Murray never had complete control of.
- 36:43Speaker 6: He took two full steps, not a third, lost it
- 36:46Speaker 6: on his own, and they say it's a catching a fumble. Yeah,
- 36:49Speaker 6: like he never had that ball. If I was Kansas City,
- 36:52Speaker 6: that play would pissed me off a lot more than
- 36:54Speaker 6: the Tony player.
- 36:55Speaker 1: I agree, I agree, all right? Eight five to five
- 36:58Speaker 1: Pats five hundred is the ace taken outline web radio
- 37:00Speaker 1: at Patriots dot com is the email address.
- 37:03Speaker 7: Do you think we're gonna get some angry elite callers today?
- 37:07Speaker 6: Oh yeah, sure, if not today when they catch up,
- 37:10Speaker 6: because no, seriously, because a lot of times they're not.
- 37:12Speaker 3: Like I already have I already have a tweet from somebody.
- 37:14Speaker 6: How about this play last night in the Miami game.
- 37:16Speaker 6: You watched this game a little bit, They just Hopkins
- 37:19Speaker 6: just tackled Xavian Howard as he's going to make an
- 37:22Speaker 6: interception and ends up being a bomb for a completion
- 37:24Speaker 6: at the end of the half, dragged his.
- 37:26Speaker 1: Arm down like like you could see him jerk down.
- 37:29Speaker 6: So you know, to Evan's point, we're making sure the
- 37:32Speaker 6: tight end is set, but we're not We're not worrying
- 37:34Speaker 6: about just like blatant passing appearance calls that give another
- 37:37Speaker 6: team fifty yards And I'm not talking about against the defense,
- 37:41Speaker 6: like this was going to be a pick. I don't
- 37:43Speaker 6: know if this is the play. I don't think, oh yeah, yeah,
- 37:45Speaker 6: that's going to be a pick. Yeah, And all of
- 37:48Speaker 6: a sudden, Howard is like picking a turf out of
- 37:51Speaker 6: his face.
- 37:51Speaker 3: Betteran savvy there you go.
- 37:53Speaker 1: Well he got away with it.
- 37:55Speaker 3: Can't play anymore.
- 37:56Speaker 6: By the way, Miami could be in a lot of
- 37:58Speaker 6: trouble with all those injuries.
- 38:00Speaker 7: Tyreek, right, well he came back.
- 38:02Speaker 6: Well yeah, yeah, he's hurt.
- 38:04Speaker 1: He was.
- 38:04Speaker 6: He was out of the game more than he was. Yeah,
- 38:08Speaker 6: but you know, missing Holland and Baker and uh all
- 38:14Speaker 6: the guys they have on defense, uh In Phillips, So
- 38:17Speaker 6: they have a key player at all three levels on defense.
- 38:21Speaker 6: They lost three starters on the offensive line last night.
- 38:24Speaker 6: You know, Tyreek Hill was a show like they're going
- 38:27Speaker 6: to be in trouble.
- 38:28Speaker 7: He's the m v P.
- 38:29Speaker 6: To me, They're gonna they're gonna be in trouble.
- 38:31Speaker 3: I honestly don't.
- 38:33Speaker 6: Well, he's my pick, I told you that.
- 38:35Speaker 3: But I think Jackson is the only reason why he's
- 38:39Speaker 3: not the consensus runaway MVP is because he plays wide receiver. Yeah,
- 38:43Speaker 3: and that's it. Like it's so if the m v
- 38:45Speaker 3: P is just the Quarterback of the Year award, then
- 38:48Speaker 3: just call it that, like that's it. Just because he
- 38:52Speaker 3: doesn't play quarterback, he basically has no chance to win
- 38:55Speaker 3: the m v P when he's clearly the most valuable
- 38:58Speaker 3: player on the field every time they play. I mean,
- 39:00Speaker 3: they took him out of that game last night. They
- 39:02Speaker 3: couldn't do anything.
- 39:03Speaker 6: Offensively, They couldn't really do I mean, they did things
- 39:06Speaker 6: with him in spurts. But I thought Mike McDaniel, and
- 39:09Speaker 6: I love me some Mike McDaniel, I thought he was
- 39:12Speaker 6: really bad last night. I thought he was really inconsistent
- 39:16Speaker 6: with his play call. Like, I don't know how you
- 39:18Speaker 6: can allow that touchdown at the end of the game
- 39:20Speaker 6: to make it a six point game and then just
- 39:23Speaker 6: go run, run, And then they were running wide all
- 39:26Speaker 6: night with great success when this two and a half
- 39:29Speaker 6: minutes left. You can't do that because you can't run
- 39:31Speaker 6: the risk that he gets knocked out of bounce. So
- 39:34Speaker 6: now you're in your four minute offense, so to speak,
- 39:37Speaker 6: and what's gotten you there? Like they had, they had
- 39:40Speaker 6: no answers, Evans right, like Tyreek Hill left the game
- 39:43Speaker 6: and they had no answers. And that to me is
- 39:46Speaker 6: on McDaniel. They have plenty of talent.
- 39:48Speaker 3: He just creates so much space for the offense, you know,
- 39:53Speaker 3: vertically and horizontally that even when he's not getting the ball.
- 39:56Speaker 3: That's why they put him back on the game on
- 39:58Speaker 3: the bum ankles, just to use him as a deep coy.
- 40:00Speaker 3: And they almost hit a huge play to itching in
- 40:03Speaker 3: on the sideline that too, just kind of overthrew the
- 40:05Speaker 3: ball a little bit, but you watch the playback and
- 40:08Speaker 3: both defensive backs and it leaves him wide open behind him.
- 40:13Speaker 6: That place should have ended, well, I mean they should yeah,
- 40:16Speaker 6: I mean I should have been like by they're up
- 40:18Speaker 6: by fourteen with three minutes.
- 40:20Speaker 1: This crazy ending to this season.
- 40:22Speaker 6: But I do I do we get more? We got more?
- 40:24Speaker 1: Breaking?
- 40:24Speaker 7: This is an interesting uh Trent Brown took to social media.
- 40:27Speaker 7: I should actually this should be timera social media in
- 40:29Speaker 7: it here. Uh Trent Brown took to social media to say,
- 40:32Speaker 7: go by to Matt Lee Cunningham with a go flourish
- 40:34Speaker 7: where your talent is respected, little brou.
- 40:37Speaker 6: I'll tell you, yeahs number say that you just remember
- 40:42Speaker 6: nine hundred and eleven why you should embrace Trent Brown
- 40:44Speaker 6: as just the ultimate team.
- 40:46Speaker 5: I will say, he's not the only person who's who
- 40:47Speaker 5: tweeted at Malik Juwan Bentley also tweeted something very similar.
- 40:51Speaker 4: So they're all very.
- 40:52Speaker 1: Happy for him.
- 40:53Speaker 6: That is well, it's one thing well, but absolutely fine
- 40:57Speaker 6: to be happy with him and with the real team exactly.
- 41:00Speaker 6: There's a difference between that.
- 41:02Speaker 4: But they say.
- 41:03Speaker 6: The same thing.
- 41:04Speaker 4: You deserve to go bro.
- 41:06Speaker 6: Okay, but that's not the same as what Trent Brown said.
- 41:09Speaker 6: Trent Brown took a rocket shot at the Patriots coaches,
- 41:11Speaker 6: who evidently are too stupid to know what they had
- 41:16Speaker 6: and Evan, why me, because you think I know he
- 41:23Speaker 6: stas So I didn't put words in your mouth, but
- 41:27Speaker 6: a lot of stuff I like the weekends when I
- 41:30Speaker 6: just sort of like Herbert was put on I R
- 41:34Speaker 6: two and that that's another one, by the way, So
- 41:38Speaker 6: I know we've already been talking about the Chargers as
- 41:40Speaker 6: a potential landing spot. I think that's going to be
- 41:44Speaker 6: the final nail in the coffin for Brandon Staley, that
- 41:48Speaker 6: he's out, like they won't be able to move, like
- 41:50Speaker 6: he's the whole team. Herbert's the whole team. The other
- 41:53Speaker 6: di did you watch any of that game? Probably not
- 41:55Speaker 6: much because.
- 41:56Speaker 1: It was watch the game against the Patriots. If it
- 41:59Speaker 1: wasn't Herbert.
- 42:01Speaker 7: I got so agitated this Sunday because they had less
- 42:03Speaker 7: than that. I was watching Red Zone and I'm just
- 42:06Speaker 7: sitting there, like, how the hell does Paul remember all
- 42:08Speaker 7: this crap? Like I can't keep it, Like I have
- 42:09Speaker 7: to get up for two seconds. I come back and
- 42:11Speaker 7: someone scored and I don't know what it was, And
- 42:13Speaker 7: it's again sometow you're just like cataloging everything in your
- 42:16Speaker 7: brain the whole time. You don't even break focus the
- 42:18Speaker 7: whole time, and you can just like.
- 42:19Speaker 6: I will also say that I was a little skeptical
- 42:23Speaker 6: of the setup last night. Found it absolutely awesome. It
- 42:28Speaker 6: was like a mini red it was like a mini
- 42:29Speaker 6: red zone.
- 42:30Speaker 3: It was it was pretty good.
- 42:31Speaker 6: I mean, it certainly helped that both games were excellent.
- 42:33Speaker 6: They went down.
- 42:34Speaker 3: I wish that it was that so sometimes they would
- 42:37Speaker 3: have the two box. I wish that there was a
- 42:40Speaker 3: channel where the two box existed the whole time, because
- 42:44Speaker 3: I would watch that.
- 42:45Speaker 6: Couldn't toggle quick enough. I was just going, I was
- 42:48Speaker 6: just going loud.
- 42:49Speaker 3: It's just I'm too lazy for that.
- 42:51Speaker 6: Like you love one button push it, you know, like
- 42:52Speaker 6: it's only one button.
- 42:53Speaker 3: Away, that's all I gotta do. Yeah, No, I just
- 42:55Speaker 3: wanted I wanted both of those. And then you know which,
- 42:59Speaker 3: the Giants game ended first, So I flipped over to
- 43:02Speaker 3: the Giants game and then yeah, I just just give
- 43:04Speaker 3: me screen.
- 43:06Speaker 6: Well, I like, I went over to the Giants game
- 43:11Speaker 6: pretty much exclusively after the Dolphins had made it a
- 43:14Speaker 6: fourteen point game. And then like even like the first
- 43:17Speaker 6: couple of plays, they're down fourteen, Tennessee's like they completed
- 43:20Speaker 6: a pass for like three yards. Then they got a penalty,
- 43:23Speaker 6: and I was like, they just all of a sudden,
- 43:25Speaker 6: they come back and they're on like the thirty and
- 43:27Speaker 6: I'm like, whoa, that was quick, And then like I
- 43:30Speaker 6: thought Orlowski, by the way, some of his some of
- 43:36Speaker 6: his tweeting makes a lot more sense. He is an
- 43:39Speaker 6: unbelievable quarterback apologist.
- 43:42Speaker 7: They are former quarterbacks. I feel like they're I mean,
- 43:45Speaker 7: wide receivers a lot.
- 43:46Speaker 6: You would have thought will Levis last night splitting at
- 43:49Speaker 6: him the way he was describing will Levis's play, who,
- 43:52Speaker 6: by the way, I thought was really good at the.
- 43:53Speaker 1: Leven saying split his head open, I mean going yeah,
- 43:56Speaker 1: but after the game, no, early in the game, like
- 43:59Speaker 1: trying to take on linebackers and you know, trying to
- 44:02Speaker 1: make tackles in the end zone.
- 44:03Speaker 7: That picked sixty through. Its like I've never I hadn't
- 44:05Speaker 7: seen that happen, and I don't know ever.
- 44:07Speaker 1: Where he threw it, right, he has he is a rocket.
- 44:10Speaker 6: He tried to do that about two other times on
- 44:12Speaker 6: screen passes.
- 44:13Speaker 7: Right at that point. That was my point.
- 44:14Speaker 6: Christian Wilkins had one in his hands later in the
- 44:16Speaker 6: game and couldn't hold onto it.
- 44:18Speaker 7: He's tough.
- 44:19Speaker 1: He has an arm though, that kid.
- 44:20Speaker 6: Yes, but that was that was good last thing because
- 44:22Speaker 6: both games are coming down with the wire and back
- 44:24Speaker 6: and forth.
- 44:25Speaker 1: H Aaron's in Flint, Michigan. What's up, Aaron? Hey?
- 44:29Speaker 11: Hey, guys, how's it going. Base for taking my car today?
- 44:32Speaker 12: Sure?
- 44:32Speaker 7: Thanks?
- 44:33Speaker 11: Uh well, I didn't want to have been a little
- 44:36Speaker 11: bit about that car with Kansas City because the few
- 44:39Speaker 11: times that I've seen games where the offense would light
- 44:44Speaker 11: up offside, the riff would throw the flag when he
- 44:47Speaker 11: says the snap was imminent. They let the plane play
- 44:50Speaker 11: all the way out score then he decided to throw
- 44:53Speaker 11: a flag. So it's not sure.
- 44:55Speaker 6: It's not the same thing. It's not the same. If
- 44:59Speaker 6: a guy is not set at the snap and he's
- 45:01Speaker 6: moving and that's an illegal motion, you know, or something
- 45:04Speaker 6: like that, they let the play go. If it's a
- 45:08Speaker 6: false start and someone jumps like an alignment, goes out
- 45:11Speaker 6: of his stands, that's different. Then they're gonna blow the
- 45:14Speaker 6: play dead. But a guy lining up offside at a standstill,
- 45:18Speaker 6: they're not gonna blow the whistle on that. That's happened. Actually,
- 45:22Speaker 6: I've seen a different couple of different websites with different numbers,
- 45:26Speaker 6: but the one I saw that was most prevalence. That's
- 45:28Speaker 6: the thirteenth time an offensive offside was called this year,
- 45:32Speaker 6: and it's happened to offensive lineman a lot.
- 45:35Speaker 1: Yeah, because technically he's not offside until the ball snap,
- 45:37Speaker 1: so you can't correct the whistle snap penalty, and.
- 45:41Speaker 6: It's Philadelphia has gotten called. Jason Kelsey has gotten called
- 45:45Speaker 6: on tush pushes, so like he's lined up over the
- 45:48Speaker 6: ball in an effort to sort of get a better pushy.
- 45:51Speaker 6: I think Green Bay's gotten called for it in similar
- 45:53Speaker 6: situations a couple of times.
- 45:55Speaker 11: Well I'm glad you guy cleared it up for me.
- 45:57Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 45:57Speaker 11: I was starting to you know, I'm a bidding man.
- 46:02Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, it's uh. It was a tough one if
- 46:04Speaker 6: you had Kansas City in that game. I do feel it.
- 46:06Speaker 6: The only thing I will say for all the people
- 46:10Speaker 6: that were talking about this and had it been a touchdown,
- 46:14Speaker 6: and I'm not telling you this would have happened, but
- 46:17Speaker 6: I think we've all seen teams go down and score
- 46:20Speaker 6: in a minute eight with three timeouts.
- 46:22Speaker 7: Certainly those two teams against Okay.
- 46:24Speaker 6: So you know, I think there's been a lot of
- 46:27Speaker 6: all the game they cost them the game. You know,
- 46:31Speaker 6: that's a little strong in my opinion.
- 46:33Speaker 1: Thanks Aaron.
- 46:35Speaker 6: All right, And as great as everything was over the
- 46:37Speaker 6: weekend with seeing highlights of one of the worst things
- 46:39Speaker 6: I've ever seen in my life to marry you almost
- 46:42Speaker 6: got it, Chiefs.
- 46:44Speaker 5: I almost got a zero zero game if they kept if.
- 46:46Speaker 6: They kept Josh Dobbs in the game, you would have
- 46:47Speaker 6: gotten your zero zero game because the only reason why
- 46:50Speaker 6: they scored is Nick Mullins made two or three throws
- 46:53Speaker 6: that that Dobbs wouldn't have.
- 46:55Speaker 5: Which is crazy because I bet was that What was
- 46:58Speaker 5: the over under for that game?
- 46:59Speaker 4: Was it expected?
- 47:00Speaker 3: I'm gonna guess it was more than three. It was
- 47:03Speaker 3: more than the Patriots.
- 47:04Speaker 4: Wasn't the Patriots game?
- 47:06Speaker 3: Wasn't this that was the lowest of the year, lowest
- 47:08Speaker 3: in wrong. Plenty of offense in the Patriots game.
- 47:13Speaker 6: But again the two turnovers. Yeah, gave touchdowns to both teams.
- 47:17Speaker 3: It still was a would have been over thirty and
- 47:19Speaker 3: a half you take away fifteen points.
- 47:23Speaker 7: Yeah. Do you think if you said in the meeting
- 47:25Speaker 7: this morning's just about scoring being down? Do you think
- 47:27Speaker 7: this is gonna be something that's talked about a lot
- 47:29Speaker 7: this offseason of trying to unravel Is this, you know,
- 47:32Speaker 7: a one offer? Is this a trend in the league
- 47:34Speaker 7: that's gonna kind of keep?
- 47:35Speaker 1: I don't think one season you get too knee jerk.
- 47:39Speaker 1: I think it's it'll probably bounce right back up now.
- 47:41Speaker 7: But do you think like everybody's gonna be talking about
- 47:43Speaker 7: like the draft and trends and all these kind of
- 47:45Speaker 7: things going forward of you know, well, it's it's not
- 47:47Speaker 7: as much of a scoring league and you know what
- 47:49Speaker 7: that means.
- 47:50Speaker 3: But it's relatively down relative to the last like five
- 47:54Speaker 3: years or so.
- 47:54Speaker 6: But if you go back like further than that, it's
- 47:57Speaker 6: still it's still plenty of other planies. I mean, there
- 47:59Speaker 6: was a three nothing game, but there's you know, twenty eight,
- 48:02Speaker 6: twenty sevens too.
- 48:03Speaker 1: Yeah, And I think we're a little jaded because of
- 48:05Speaker 1: the page correct.
- 48:06Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 48:07Speaker 5: And then I also think this is like an abnormal
- 48:10Speaker 5: amount of like starting quarterbacks who are out already.
- 48:12Speaker 4: Yeah, Like that's just it's.
- 48:14Speaker 1: Just keep players starting quarterbacks.
- 48:15Speaker 6: That's my biggest reason tomorrow. I think there's been more
- 48:19Speaker 6: top flight quarterbacks hurt this year than is normal.
- 48:21Speaker 7: I got a question for the group that that just
- 48:23Speaker 7: occurred to me. Do you think that the prevalence of
- 48:27Speaker 7: gambling now has affected the outrage on the referees a
- 48:31Speaker 7: little bit more? Where people are tangibly losing money on
- 48:34Speaker 7: some of these calls?
- 48:35Speaker 6: And I think more I think because of its legality.
- 48:38Speaker 6: I think more people are affected.
- 48:40Speaker 7: Yeah, and care with their with their wallets in their pocketbooks,
- 48:43Speaker 7: like you know they pocketbooks?
- 48:44Speaker 6: Yeah, you did you have a pocket book?
- 48:46Speaker 1: The book it's part it's part pocketbook, book jacket, and Arbor.
- 48:52Speaker 1: About booing, he says the only legitimate reason for booing
- 48:55Speaker 1: at a sporting event is to show disapproval for unsportsman
- 48:58Speaker 1: like conduct or lack of professional effort. Otherwise, booing is
- 49:03Speaker 1: bad form, and any fan who boos in any other
- 49:05Speaker 1: circumstance should be ashamed of himself.
- 49:08Speaker 3: I mean, I don't know if, because first of all,
- 49:11Speaker 3: I would say that.
- 49:12Speaker 6: Then based on that, which I don't agree with, I
- 49:14Speaker 6: think you can. If you're a fan, you pay money,
- 49:16Speaker 6: you should boot anything you want to boo at. But
- 49:18Speaker 6: based on that, I understand why Pittsburgh was booing. I
- 49:21Speaker 6: think there was a lack of professional effort in that game.
- 49:23Speaker 7: I just booed when Brady came back, just like I just.
- 49:26Speaker 6: Like I called the Patriots out earlier in the season
- 49:28Speaker 6: at times for what I thought was a lack of
- 49:30Speaker 6: professional effort, Jalen Mills trying to tackle uh Sam Howell
- 49:33Speaker 6: being an example.
- 49:34Speaker 5: So do you think the booing at mac Jones was
- 49:37Speaker 5: a lack of professional effort or that?
- 49:39Speaker 6: No, I don't. I don't ever think Mac Jones is problems.
- 49:43Speaker 3: But I but I all said a word. Deuce has
- 49:46Speaker 3: been doing him for it before he even started playing.
- 49:49Speaker 6: If you pay, you pay like hundreds of dollars to
- 49:51Speaker 6: go to a game, and you want to pull it
- 49:53Speaker 6: like this is not my thing. I don't I don't
- 49:55Speaker 6: know the kids. Let's I don't think I've ever actively
- 49:58Speaker 6: booed at a sporting event. But man, yeah, but I
- 50:00Speaker 6: don't look at evidence say you shouldn't boom. I've definitely
- 50:04Speaker 6: the events you've been to, I don't like you like no,
- 50:07Speaker 6: I'm just saying like boom, Like have I been pissed?
- 50:10Speaker 3: Yeah, I feel like we're.
- 50:11Speaker 5: Definitely booed at bad like calls by refs. I definitely
- 50:14Speaker 5: boot at those.
- 50:15Speaker 3: I feel like Pittsburgh fans though, just I'm sorry, I'm
- 50:20Speaker 3: sorry to take to do this, but like, at some
- 50:23Speaker 3: point you you have to start getting sick of the
- 50:25Speaker 3: mediocrity in Pittsburgh too, like we have.
- 50:27Speaker 6: He's on the hot seat. I can't believe.
- 50:30Speaker 3: At some point, Yeah, it's cool that he hasn't had
- 50:32Speaker 3: a losing season, but like ninety eight is not.
- 50:35Speaker 6: It's just last week it is, and the Patriots took
- 50:39Speaker 6: care of me the next night.
- 50:40Speaker 3: Yeah, he just he gets a lot of credit for
- 50:43Speaker 3: not having any losing seasons, but Tomlin, but they don't
- 50:46Speaker 3: win anything, so like.
- 50:47Speaker 6: What what threat to win anything? And when they have
- 50:50Speaker 6: a team good enough to win everything, they typically fell short.
- 50:54Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean that's just I don't know. I think
- 50:56Speaker 3: that that team has the Patriots, even this version of
- 51:01Speaker 3: the Patriots were able to out exitent Oh the Steelers again,
- 51:05Speaker 3: how many times is that gonna happen to that regime
- 51:08Speaker 3: that a coach like Bill or whoever can come in
- 51:12Speaker 3: there and, you know, all the time and out coach them,
- 51:15Speaker 3: and the Patriots are or they're two and nine coming
- 51:18Speaker 3: into that game like there are two ten. They're not good.
- 51:22Speaker 3: They're not good, and they're still out coaching all right.
- 51:25Speaker 1: Time to eat, We'll be right back.

- 52:13Speaker 14: Along again everyone, a very pleasant, good evening and welcome
- 52:16Speaker 14: to Akrashur Stadium here in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where the two
- 52:19Speaker 14: and ten New England Patriots confront the seven and five
- 52:23Speaker 14: Pittsburgh Steelers. Takes the staff from Andrews stands in, does
- 52:28Speaker 14: a high lock keep down the loft side.
- 52:29Speaker 10: For Juju Smith Schuster.
- 52:30Speaker 15: He makes the catch over the jonder and throw, with
- 52:33Speaker 15: smith Schuster adjusting to make the grab. Climbing Fitzpatrick and
- 52:38Speaker 15: hauling it in back in Pittsburgh at the Steeler fifty
- 52:43Speaker 15: six yard lost.
- 52:44Speaker 9: A hell of a catch fight by Juju here. Now
- 52:47Speaker 9: Bailey has the roll when he threw it because of
- 52:49Speaker 9: the pressure. He put a nice arc on this fault
- 52:51Speaker 9: that there's two guys back here. He splits the coverage,
- 52:54Speaker 9: tims the back of it. That's a thirty seven yard
- 52:56Speaker 9: teen earlier.
- 52:58Speaker 14: Zapping on a second down and eight after the two
- 53:00Speaker 14: yard game motioning torking from the left, Baily takes a snap.
- 53:03Speaker 10: He does it right for Helly.
- 53:04Speaker 14: It makes the ten ten turns.
- 53:05Speaker 10: It right here the five dime the zone.
- 53:09Speaker 14: The Patriots put a touchdown take the lead of the game.
- 53:13Speaker 10: First series here in Pittsburgh.
- 53:15Speaker 9: What what a dry by Billy O'Brien to open up
- 53:18Speaker 9: this football game.
- 53:19Speaker 10: Look at the energy that Bailey's happy is. You have
- 53:22Speaker 10: missed this whole snap. The back of Drimisky drops back,
- 53:26Speaker 10: moves up, fires to the.
- 53:27Speaker 15: Lattist pick um let me white tie JC Jackson forty
- 53:30Speaker 15: five to the forty one.
- 53:31Speaker 10: A thunder staff.
- 53:32Speaker 14: Spins around Trimisky and he's dropped down to thirty nine.
- 53:35Speaker 14: There is a flag in the secondary and it will
- 53:38Speaker 14: be past interference on New England.
- 53:41Speaker 10: What a tough what a bad grow by Damiski, great
- 53:45Speaker 10: read by.
- 53:45Speaker 11: The Seri defense number twenty nine. This is a spot
- 53:49Speaker 11: wow and an all a matter of.
- 53:50Speaker 1: Course down.
- 53:53Speaker 10: I didn't see it. They might have got the wrong
- 53:55Speaker 10: number here. J. C.
- 53:57Speaker 14: Jackson identified as the guilty.
- 54:01Speaker 10: Oh that's a chicken ass call.
- 54:03Speaker 14: He wow snafter bhiskey has it? He right it right
- 54:05Speaker 14: a head and he's hot and tackled by Matt will
- 54:07Speaker 14: soon know. When Tbisky could not escape trying to guard
- 54:11Speaker 14: through the middle, Wilson takes him down.
- 54:14Speaker 10: Then he sums out it. Let's get Tramiski. Girls have
- 54:16Speaker 10: a little foot by Peppers.
- 54:17Speaker 15: Got the right side thirty twenty five, twenty right sideline fifteen,
- 54:21Speaker 15: cut left to the ten at Jabril has the morn
- 54:24Speaker 15: broad rested up at the eleven.
- 54:26Speaker 9: What what a call? Defensively they showed blitz to the right.
- 54:31Speaker 9: They bill out from the right. They sent Brian on
- 54:34Speaker 9: the blitz from the corner. He was on pickets and
- 54:36Speaker 9: Trubisky just throw the duck backside handed girl.
- 54:40Speaker 10: We'd seen that panic girl before and good for Jabrill Peppers.
- 54:44Speaker 9: He's been playing his ass off for Robny Weeks now
- 54:47Speaker 9: gets one right there.
- 54:48Speaker 10: When you're in the phone again, you've got to punch
- 54:51Speaker 10: his head.
- 54:51Speaker 14: A snap shoulder highers out, he shot back, goes back.
- 54:54Speaker 15: At the end of Henry hunches up.
- 54:56Speaker 10: He's got his fourth touchdown. Catch has the Patriots had
- 54:59Speaker 10: two again?
- 55:02Speaker 9: Calm cool, collected, you go gun inside the ten. It's
- 55:06Speaker 9: Sappy just throws a dime right.
- 55:09Speaker 10: Underneath the goldpost. Perfect touch to where Hunters could go
- 55:12Speaker 10: up and get it. Happy birthday, Hunter Henry. By the way,
- 55:15Speaker 10: what a catch. You're up fourteen to three. Wow. Zappy
- 55:20Speaker 10: on the plavor turns him up. Henry in the end
- 55:22Speaker 10: of the breaks their cash exam.
- 55:25Speaker 9: Touchdown patres three touchdowns by number four. Tonight, Bailey, Zappy
- 55:31Speaker 9: is come to play, baby.
- 55:33Speaker 10: You may have your quarterback right now for the rest
- 55:35Speaker 10: of the year. Case closed.
- 55:38Speaker 16: What a throw on the street to the Hunter Henry
- 55:41Speaker 16: on the left Boundry play fake strong and he just
- 55:45Speaker 16: throws a dime to Hunter Henry on the outstretched What
- 55:48Speaker 16: a catch, great throw.
- 55:50Speaker 14: Dun touches Smith Schuster a dime to Hunter Henry a
- 55:53Speaker 14: second touchdown, grabbing the name. A third touchdown pass for
- 55:57Speaker 14: Bailey Zaffie.
- 55:58Speaker 9: Great covered plays on here on the Sideline's happy just
- 56:02Speaker 9: he knows it's his team now. He is having fun,
- 56:04Speaker 9: showed some swagger that he was so relaxed at the
- 56:07Speaker 9: podium this week and when he met with the media and.
- 56:09Speaker 10: He said, we're close.
- 56:11Speaker 14: As hard as it was to believe based on what
- 56:15Speaker 14: we've seen as well these.
- 56:16Speaker 10: Last several leagues. The snap at Drimisky, another gift by Dugger,
- 56:21Speaker 10: a throw off the back one. If he ain't Zune
- 56:22Speaker 10: cot touch down Pittsburgh. You didn't even throw that coy
- 56:26Speaker 10: Big Dave Johnson is big one, big one by Mitch.
- 56:30Speaker 7: Mitch.
- 56:30Speaker 10: He did that more than anything.
- 56:32Speaker 9: Tugger on the blitz again, he didn't get there and
- 56:34Speaker 9: talks good blitz pickup. He almost took the guy doing
- 56:37Speaker 9: ready to trhiskey's lap, but he rolls a nice done.
- 56:40Speaker 1: That's the best blow of the night.
- 56:42Speaker 10: He takes the snap, he drops back, he's pressured. He
- 56:44Speaker 10: sat a seen her comes up the middle. He landed in.
- 56:47Speaker 10: Robert say that's Patriots, and.
- 56:49Speaker 14: Then DJ Watt Miles on back after thirty three that.
- 56:53Speaker 1: It should have been picked up.
- 56:54Speaker 16: This is five on five, fine out Pittsburgh their second
- 57:00Speaker 16: his seconds.
- 57:03Speaker 10: One thing with the strain. It's amazing how help long
- 57:05Speaker 10: it takes the lead play to get in.
- 57:07Speaker 9: It's just a little loop around blitz or Atlanta Roberts
- 57:09Speaker 9: back communication up front.
- 57:11Speaker 10: And offens line. That's that one up. Back's up, Ryan
- 57:15Speaker 10: Dumb to the blitz. Dr Biskey trycas ga't nowhere to go?
- 57:18Speaker 14: War and more is there in front of him and
- 57:20Speaker 14: Deffor and Bryan are there behind the pick.
- 57:23Speaker 10: Get off right there for the d a sack at
- 57:26Speaker 10: midfield more New England.
- 57:28Speaker 9: I'll check the stairs on smart it clap from the
- 57:31Speaker 9: potat nowhere for the brisky to go and that s
- 57:33Speaker 9: guy's got some hills.
- 57:34Speaker 10: Up in front.
- 57:34Speaker 12: If you're a man there as they were the shoulder
- 57:37Speaker 12: eye staffed to Zappi, shovels back stats up, Fredrick sat
- 57:42Speaker 12: pick him down at the thirty covered sacks.
- 57:45Speaker 10: Hey wordy in on a sack that gets him eaty
- 57:48Speaker 10: for his career.
- 57:50Speaker 6: Covern sack right there.
- 57:51Speaker 9: Defense gotta savy again here get a boom and kick
- 57:53Speaker 9: flip flip the field again.
- 57:55Speaker 10: Alias took the Ryan who Zappi play thing for him?
- 57:57Speaker 14: Bailey dropping back, he throws him across from the balls
- 57:59Speaker 14: back from there flinning rightside thirty five thirty to the twenty,
- 58:04Speaker 14: wrapped up and brought to the near sideline.
- 58:06Speaker 10: The interception by Michael Walker off to the flection.
- 58:10Speaker 1: I could put the game.
- 58:11Speaker 9: There's a fun little play like that, the flected ball,
- 58:15Speaker 9: locket coming down on a little bit and you get
- 58:18Speaker 9: the play fake there the sort of babies that the
- 58:21Speaker 9: problem is seeking Jujior almost in the.
- 58:23Speaker 10: Same light, you know the sideline. It's not a good thrown,
- 58:26Speaker 10: but it's sort of an confusing round combination. Here was
- 58:29Speaker 10: one earlier with Juju and Hunter Henry Short in the
- 58:32Speaker 10: same area.
- 58:33Speaker 14: The stat fat chest dogs hat. He dropped that directured
- 58:36Speaker 14: by Walker rolling White looking down good throws in near side.
- 58:39Speaker 14: That pass well, it is nearly intercepted. He threw it
- 58:42Speaker 14: George Thornton sliding along the boundaries. It was a bit
- 58:46Speaker 14: feet high him when the feelers coming up with the
- 58:48Speaker 14: stop danger this.
- 58:49Speaker 9: Bailey's got to take over here and realize why you've
- 58:52Speaker 9: been giving this opportunity.
- 58:53Speaker 10: Got to protect the football.
- 58:55Speaker 14: So while you're in this game, Joey Porter Junior sliding
- 58:58Speaker 14: across the sideline and.
- 59:00Speaker 10: Barringer hunts for the wobbler rolling across the twenty five
- 59:05Speaker 10: yard line.
- 59:06Speaker 14: A miss hit if it wasn't blocked, and it did
- 59:09Speaker 14: not appear to be at first glass As the Steelers
- 59:12Speaker 14: cover up on the ball deep in New England's territory.
- 59:15Speaker 10: Cup kids bump was back to barringer and it wasn't fuck.
- 59:20Speaker 14: It was Blacklock coming in from the left, reaching out
- 59:23Speaker 14: with his left hand, Miles killoproof. So Miles Killoproof coming
- 59:26Speaker 14: in from the left was able to extend with the
- 59:29Speaker 14: left hand.
- 59:30Speaker 1: I uncovery.
- 59:30Speaker 10: This is the block. Washington, the tight end now from
- 59:34Speaker 10: full back to the right leg. You're missing with a
- 59:38Speaker 10: gimpy ring read.
- 59:40Speaker 14: He tried the option pass and the ball was beat
- 59:43Speaker 14: it down one tight end coming in motion left to right.
- 59:46Speaker 14: Tried to love it to Washington leaking off that right
- 59:50Speaker 14: side and beat bolts and knocked.
- 59:51Speaker 10: It down for the matrix right the.
- 59:54Speaker 9: Pittsburgh Steelers first and goal at the one back kid
- 59:57Speaker 9: of the gun fire.
- 1:00:00Speaker 10: If you're low, it's the fly. He takes the staff.
- 1:00:02Speaker 10: He's gonna stake it straight ahead.
- 1:00:05Speaker 14: The quarterback breaks the playing toutchdown Pittsburgh Wilson leaping knocked
- 1:00:11Speaker 14: down the pass on the option to drow from.
- 1:00:13Speaker 10: One tight end to another.
- 1:00:14Speaker 14: Nearly picked off, where then the Steelers with a reprieve
- 1:00:17Speaker 14: score on the ensuing snap, Traviski with the guy the
- 1:00:20Speaker 14: snata Drwisky fires if not passing cut.
- 1:00:23Speaker 10: Fire with the front of peppers. This is a three
- 1:00:26Speaker 10: point game.
- 1:00:27Speaker 9: As what I'm doing right now, a block cut leads
- 1:00:29Speaker 9: to an eight point trip for the Steelers. Let this
- 1:00:31Speaker 9: bump get you back in the game, the stat the
- 1:00:35Speaker 9: Drubisky backing up throws.
- 1:00:36Speaker 10: A long call and he's never let un for Johnson and.
- 1:00:39Speaker 15: The pass is incomplete with Jonathan.
- 1:00:41Speaker 14: Jones stride for stride, and again the Steelers take a
- 1:00:45Speaker 14: deep shot down the left sideline.
- 1:00:47Speaker 10: With one fifty five to go.
- 1:00:49Speaker 9: What a dumb offense, What a dumb, dumb, stupid call.
- 1:00:54Speaker 9: Start the buses. Haven't said that in a while.
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: All right, back here on Patriots on filter at eight
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: five to five Pats five hundred, it is the ace
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: ticket hutline where radio at Patriots dot com is the
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: email address. Lots of emails coming in a particular subject
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: that I'm seeing recurring here in my email list. Noah
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: from Toronto. It seems to me that in the past
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: few days has been a noticeable shift in media in
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: fan opinions on whether Bill Belichick's should stay next year.
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: Are we really letting a three point win over Mitch
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: Trubisky in wearing the Jolly Roger helmet on college game
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: day change or perception of the leader of a three
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: to ten team. It's good the team is still playing hard,
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: but for me, that is not enough to compensate for
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: the years of poor roster management that has been a
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: subject line on a lot of the shows.
- 1:01:56Speaker 7: I don't think it's a Navy helmet thing. I just
- 1:01:58Speaker 7: think they won a game, and so people are like,
- 1:02:00Speaker 7: it really that bad? I don't know. I mean, you're
- 1:02:02Speaker 7: you're you know. That's why I think.
- 1:02:03Speaker 6: People will trust you guys. I haven't really seen that well.
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: I think that.
- 1:02:06Speaker 6: I mean, I've seen the deadulation over him being a
- 1:02:09Speaker 6: human being on game day, but I haven't seen that well.
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: Tom Kurran addressed it yes last night on one of
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: the shows on NBC Sports Boston, and he says that
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: the decision was made to finant for definitively after the
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: Germany game, that that was if there was any question
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: that game.
- 1:02:29Speaker 6: I haven't necessarily seen specifics like that, but that's how
- 1:02:32Speaker 6: I feel about it is that things that happened at
- 1:02:36Speaker 6: this point are really not going to impact.
- 1:02:38Speaker 4: Yeah, I agree.
- 1:02:39Speaker 5: I felt like that Germany game was kind of like
- 1:02:41Speaker 5: the icing on the cake, just just like go that
- 1:02:43Speaker 5: far for your first international game, see the support that
- 1:02:45Speaker 5: you have, and then just completely like, yes it was.
- 1:02:50Speaker 4: It was very deflating.
- 1:02:51Speaker 7: The little voice in the back of my head that
- 1:02:53Speaker 7: I don't really love but this is what it is.
- 1:02:56Speaker 7: After this game was just how much of a problem
- 1:02:58Speaker 7: was Mac? Like how much of a problem has Mac
- 1:03:00Speaker 7: been with this offense? Because I mean, I don't want
- 1:03:03Speaker 7: to make out what Bailey's appy did was anything overwhelmingly great,
- 1:03:08Speaker 7: but it looked like some progress and it looked like
- 1:03:10Speaker 7: he took a little bit of a step just in
- 1:03:11Speaker 7: terms of understanding the offense, playing within the offense, and
- 1:03:16Speaker 7: you know, going back to last year, I just it
- 1:03:18Speaker 7: just has never seemed to quite click with Mac, whether
- 1:03:21Speaker 7: it was the Matt Patricia offense, whether it was the
- 1:03:22Speaker 7: Bill O'Brien offense. It looked a certain way early on
- 1:03:26Speaker 7: with Josh mcdaniels's rookie year, and I mean, and again
- 1:03:30Speaker 7: I don't like I just I don't know if this
- 1:03:31Speaker 7: is fair to bring up really with him, But I
- 1:03:33Speaker 7: just wonder how much the team wanted to play for
- 1:03:36Speaker 7: around him, and if this is just kind of you know,
- 1:03:39Speaker 7: if this was something that was going on that had
- 1:03:41Speaker 7: been present, and that maybe it's not just how he's
- 1:03:45Speaker 7: playing within the offense, but how the team.
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: I know you're bringing that up as like, I don't
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: want to use the word excuse, but as a viable
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: reason for what's going on. And if that's the case,
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: does not Bill Belichick when he sits down with Robert
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: Kraft talk about all of that, and does Robert Craft
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: take that in as yeah, okay, But.
- 1:04:06Speaker 5: You can also say Bill should have pulled him sooner.
- 1:04:09Speaker 5: You saw that man was a wreck and broken and
- 1:04:11Speaker 5: unable to do anything.
- 1:04:13Speaker 4: Yeah, you should have taken him out sooner.
- 1:04:14Speaker 3: So that's still his fin if you really think it was.
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: What if Bill Belichick throws that back at you and says,
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: we made a collaborative decision to draft mac Jones. I
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: felt it was my responsibility to see if we could
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: get something out of that decision.
- 1:04:28Speaker 6: But you thought that that he was playing, You thought
- 1:04:30Speaker 6: he was the reason that that you your offense wasn't successful.
- 1:04:35Speaker 6: And then one of the reason. And then when you're
- 1:04:36Speaker 6: questioned on why you didn't take him out earlier, Well,
- 1:04:39Speaker 6: it's because we wanted to make sure that well.
- 1:04:41Speaker 10: Which is it?
- 1:04:41Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:04:41Speaker 6: Were you sure that it was he was the problem,
- 1:04:43Speaker 6: or were you not sure that we gave him enough?
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: We wanted to see if we could give him enough
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: of a chance.
- 1:04:47Speaker 3: Yea, I am, I am. You know my opinion, But
- 1:04:54Speaker 3: I am certain that Bill will use Mac as the excuse.
- 1:04:57Speaker 3: Of course he was, no doubt, He's definitely going to
- 1:04:59Speaker 3: go in there and said, if we had competent quarterback
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: play this year, we had been in the playoff on
- 1:05:04Speaker 3: no doubt about it.
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: Yeah, but do you agree with that?
- 1:05:08Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: I don't necessarily disagree.
- 1:05:11Speaker 6: It was two different things, but I agree with Evan
- 1:05:13Speaker 6: if it's competent quarterback play as opposed to Bailey Zappy
- 1:05:16Speaker 6: for the whole year.
- 1:05:17Speaker 10: No, no, right.
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: A guy who doesn't turn the ball over and runs
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: the system, well.
- 1:05:21Speaker 6: The school's points, turn the school points.
- 1:05:24Speaker 3: I think he has to do more than just manage
- 1:05:27Speaker 3: the game.
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: Mac was truly a fifteenth round value. Yeah, that would
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: be fifteen if.
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: They had if they had the Mac Jones that they
- 1:05:36Speaker 3: of his rookie season, which I think was they'd be
- 1:05:40Speaker 3: in content, they'd be in playoff contention.
- 1:05:42Speaker 4: Yeah, I think definitely, Like is that a case to
- 1:05:46Speaker 4: be made?
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: And does Robert Kraft take it in?
- 1:05:48Speaker 7: I mean this and this connects back to the Bill thing,
- 1:05:51Speaker 7: you know, and Paul and I kind of did the
- 1:05:53Speaker 7: little segment for pu TV talking about this, and just
- 1:05:56Speaker 7: the one point I made was that coming into this year,
- 1:05:59Speaker 7: it was all like, we got to find out if
- 1:06:00Speaker 7: what we have with Mac, we got to find out
- 1:06:02Speaker 7: and I just I feel like they gave him every
- 1:06:05Speaker 7: possible chance that they could, and maybe to a fault
- 1:06:07Speaker 7: for sure, but I mean they got to the bye.
- 1:06:09Speaker 7: They not only like I mean I always thought looking
- 1:06:11Speaker 7: at this schedule when it came out, it's like, well,
- 1:06:12Speaker 7: if things ain't going great with Mac, that this buye
- 1:06:15Speaker 7: you go to Germany comeback. That's they even gave him
- 1:06:17Speaker 7: the bye. They gave him the week off to see
- 1:06:18Speaker 7: if they could get him right. And that's why it's
- 1:06:21Speaker 7: like Zappy again, didn't you know, didn't do all of
- 1:06:24Speaker 7: sixty minutes, But we did see some progress from him.
- 1:06:27Speaker 7: We did see like things that we just haven't seen
- 1:06:28Speaker 7: from Mac, where it's like all right, he's starting to
- 1:06:30Speaker 7: get it, like it's just every single.
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: One and not disagreeing with you, But in the long run,
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: is ZAPPI going to get to the playoffs? So what's
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: the downside of giving Mac every possible and.
- 1:06:40Speaker 7: And and you know, but I mean, I think what
- 1:06:42Speaker 7: Tamara kind of hit on though, was that he looked broken.
- 1:06:46Speaker 7: He looked like that there was no way that he
- 1:06:48Speaker 7: could sell.
- 1:06:48Speaker 3: But I still just feel like the reason why he
- 1:06:52Speaker 3: got we got here with Mac is still Bill's fault.
- 1:06:55Speaker 3: That is his fault, correct, And so like, regardless of
- 1:06:57Speaker 3: what the decisions he's making right now and the end
- 1:06:59Speaker 3: of season stuff, like, I don't necessarily care as much
- 1:07:01Speaker 3: about that because to me, the bigger problem is if
- 1:07:05Speaker 3: you have the second overall pick in the draft and
- 1:07:07Speaker 3: you draft Drake May, do you want to give Drake
- 1:07:10Speaker 3: May to Bill Belichick? Like do you want to give
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: him to Bill and have Bill surround him with talent
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: and have build an offense around him and have Bill
- 1:07:18Speaker 3: coach him and like all these different things, Because we
- 1:07:22Speaker 3: just did it and it was a disaster. So what's
- 1:07:26Speaker 3: is that the best course of action for the franchise?
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: The argument on the other side, yep, Georgia and Virginia.
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: I was listening to one of Paul's shows yesterday and
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: I mentioned Craft's comments. I guess they're talking about the
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: comments at college game Day talking about one longevity of
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: the coaching staff. I had a thought, and I believe
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: Alex Barth brought it up shortly thereafter. Do you all
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: believe Craft's comments aren't an indication that Bill will be
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: here next year? Or is it a word out to
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: the next guy, whoever that may be, that if you
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: come here, I'm not going to fire you in a
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: season or two, Like say the Panthers owner love the show.
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: Holidays are a tad bit rough for me, but I'm
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: always excited to listen to you guys and zone out
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: for a bit and laugh along.
- 1:08:11Speaker 6: So I heard lots on pack there.
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: I heard some people say that, oh, that was a
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: shot across the bow at people who would criticize him
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: for getting rid of Bill, Like, hey, wait a minute,
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: I kept for twenty four years.
- 1:08:26Speaker 6: That's what I think it was.
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: You think it was?
- 1:08:28Speaker 6: Yeah, I think he was letting everybody know this is
- 1:08:30Speaker 6: not a decision I take lightly like I value loyalty.
- 1:08:35Speaker 6: We've had a great relationship for a long time. I
- 1:08:38Speaker 6: didn't just fall into this. This is something I've thought
- 1:08:40Speaker 6: a lot about over the last several years. I know
- 1:08:43Speaker 6: that's what I think he was telling everybody. Don't think
- 1:08:46Speaker 6: that I just flippantly fired guys the way everybody else does.
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: But I don't blame people for reading into every single
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: public word that either he or Bill Belichick makes. But
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: the conversation was about his businesses and why have they
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: been successful? And I've heard him say this before, long
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: before this thing with Bill Belichick. It's about hiring good people.
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: And that was his answer. I don't think it had
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: anything to do with Bill Belichick.
- 1:09:13Speaker 6: I don't that's what they're talking about.
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: No, they weren't. They were talking about his businesses. They
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: weren't talking about.
- 1:09:19Speaker 6: On college game day. They're talking about his business.
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: Yes, the question was, you've had so many successful businesses.
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: What advice do you give to people which you can
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: get you?
- 1:09:29Speaker 6: I didn't know that.
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: Yeah, what advice do you give to people about building
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: a business?
- 1:09:33Speaker 3: I would I would ask who asked that question, what
- 1:09:35Speaker 3: the hell are you're wasting our time for?
- 1:09:36Speaker 10: What are you doing?
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: Listen? I'll give you.
- 1:09:38Speaker 6: I don't really care what your paper business.
- 1:09:40Speaker 12: That was it.
- 1:09:40Speaker 6: That in college game and they.
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: Were talking about the paper bit and he said, hiring
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: good people, and you know, we've had good people and
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: they stay a long time. And it had nothing to
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: do with Bill, you know. And then the McAfee thing.
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: I think people are making too big a thing about
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: that too. I don't think it was a setup.
- 1:09:57Speaker 6: I don't think well, I don't think it was a setup.
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: You know, people are saying, oh, I'm there he asked
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: Craft that question.
- 1:10:01Speaker 6: Oh that's ridiculous, you know.
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: I think I think all he did was say that,
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: you know, whether it's the decision to keep build, to
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: get rid of Bill, to get a new quarterback, to
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: keep staying with there's a lot of decisions that he
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: has to make at the end of the season. He
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: doesn't envy him, and it was that simple. I don't
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: think it was a setup. I don't think it was
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: pre planned.
- 1:10:19Speaker 10: You know.
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: I think people are just right now, We're just every
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: little thing.
- 1:10:24Speaker 7: He could have worded it a little better, I think,
- 1:10:26Speaker 7: just you know, because the way he said it was like,
- 1:10:28Speaker 7: I know what you have to do, and I mean
- 1:10:29Speaker 7: it just it just felt like you've got to, you know,
- 1:10:31Speaker 7: fire the all time greatest coach. Like that's what I
- 1:10:33Speaker 7: felt like it.
- 1:10:34Speaker 3: I think I think that McAfee too, and a lot
- 1:10:38Speaker 3: of myself included. I don't watch a ton of College
- 1:10:41Speaker 3: Game Day. I watched virtually none of it, right, and
- 1:10:43Speaker 3: I didn't even know what it was. And I don't
- 1:10:44Speaker 3: watch that's not true.
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: It kind of and the signs and the mascot heads
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: is capitalized.
- 1:10:52Speaker 3: And I don't. I don't watch his regular show either,
- 1:10:55Speaker 3: So I don't consume a ton of Pat McAfee. Apparently
- 1:10:58Speaker 3: that's just Pat McAfee. Like he's just that, that's who
- 1:11:01Speaker 3: he is. He shoots from the hip, and like so
- 1:11:05Speaker 3: whether it's.
- 1:11:05Speaker 7: Talking to tank tops and shooting from the him right.
- 1:11:07Speaker 3: Whether it's talking to r KK, or it's talking to
- 1:11:09Speaker 3: Aaron Rodgers or it's talking whoever, he's just gonna say stuff.
- 1:11:13Speaker 3: And like some you know, comparison that Bart gave to
- 1:11:16Speaker 3: me is kind.
- 1:11:17Speaker 10: Of like Zoe.
- 1:11:19Speaker 3: He just like sometimes even he doesn't know what he's says, Yeah, right,
- 1:11:22Speaker 3: sometimes you just say stuff, you know, And I think
- 1:11:24Speaker 3: McAfee is kind of kind of the same way. I'm
- 1:11:27Speaker 3: with Fred on that.
- 1:11:27Speaker 6: I think I agree, I definitely agree. I think that's
- 1:11:31Speaker 6: what he does. He shoots from that. He's not afraid.
- 1:11:34Speaker 6: He shoots from the hip. I think that's what he
- 1:11:36Speaker 6: was saying. I know what's happening. I don't envy you.
- 1:11:40Speaker 7: Is Lee Corso always on the game to a show
- 1:11:41Speaker 7: or is that just yes.
- 1:11:42Speaker 6: But only only for a very He's not on the
- 1:11:44Speaker 6: whole time.
- 1:11:45Speaker 3: Yeah, he's had some health issues.
- 1:11:47Speaker 6: Yeah, Kirk kurb Street does, in my opinion, a wonderful
- 1:11:50Speaker 6: job of taking care of on that Steah. He all
- 1:11:55Speaker 6: but has his arm around him.
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: By the way, the next time, Bill says, I can't
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: remember remember that he knew that Lee Corso had an
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: eye firmation or a single play.
- 1:12:06Speaker 7: That was I mean the Navy jokes aside though, that was.
- 1:12:09Speaker 7: I thought to me just that that was a really
- 1:12:11Speaker 7: cool moment, just seeing how much Lee Corso, oh yeah,
- 1:12:13Speaker 7: and what Bill meant to him, and what he meant
- 1:12:15Speaker 7: to Bill and you know, just too old Bill.
- 1:12:18Speaker 6: Yeah, So I agree, let's.
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: See Matt framing him. As much as I like Belichick's
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: human moments last Saturday for Army versus Navy, I also
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: am very frustrated with him because in an awful season
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: like this, Belichick had every chance in the world to
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: show his vulnerability and take full accountability for this dumpster fire,
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: and Steady played the it's my ball, it's my rules,
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: and if you don't follow, I'm gonna be mean to everyone.
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: Last Thursday's went over the Steelers was nice, but let's
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: be real, that's all. It was, the Steelers gagging.
- 1:12:50Speaker 7: I feel the same way about all the players right now.
- 1:12:52Speaker 7: It's like you watch these games and you're detached from
- 1:12:54Speaker 7: the games, and you get frustrated with the team when
- 1:12:56Speaker 7: they're not playing well, and you know, and then you
- 1:12:58Speaker 7: go in the locker room and you joke around with them,
- 1:13:00Speaker 7: and you know, Juju's, you know, nice guy, and you know,
- 1:13:03Speaker 7: it's like, man, it's just it's hard to kind of separate.
- 1:13:05Speaker 7: And it's the same thing with Bill. You know, you
- 1:13:06Speaker 7: get so mad at what he's done to our team,
- 1:13:08Speaker 7: but then you see him be a human and a
- 1:13:10Speaker 7: kind of nice guy, and you know, even.
- 1:13:15Speaker 3: Yeah, the locker room stuff, definitely, I agree.
- 1:13:19Speaker 5: It is definitely is interesting, especially Juju, who like has
- 1:13:21Speaker 5: virtually done nothing all year obviously until Thursday, which I
- 1:13:25Speaker 5: don't even know if you can call that like a lot.
- 1:13:27Speaker 5: It was better than usual, but I think for him
- 1:13:30Speaker 5: every single time we're in the locker room. He's always
- 1:13:32Speaker 5: open to speaking and he always is open to answering
- 1:13:34Speaker 5: the hard questions even though he has done nothing all year.
- 1:13:37Speaker 7: Yeah, I do think too with Bill, it's just like
- 1:13:40Speaker 7: you just want him to be like that. You want
- 1:13:41Speaker 7: him to be the guy that's telling Ernie Adams story
- 1:13:44Speaker 7: and you know, doing the joke like you just wish
- 1:13:45Speaker 7: he was that guy just a time.
- 1:13:48Speaker 6: But the you asked the question a while ago about
- 1:13:52Speaker 6: you know, how much of this was Mac, And I
- 1:13:54Speaker 6: do think that that's part of it, like with the
- 1:13:56Speaker 6: whole thing. But has played you know, six quarters that
- 1:14:03Speaker 6: looked to me exactly like it looked with Mac and
- 1:14:06Speaker 6: he had two that Wow, Yeah, where'd that come from?
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:14:10Speaker 6: You know, so I think it's the offense. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:14:13Speaker 6: more so than everything.
- 1:14:14Speaker 3: Play calling in the first half, like I was saying earlier,
- 1:14:17Speaker 3: was so much different than the second half. They went
- 1:14:19Speaker 3: back to the same. Yeah's conservative. I hope to see
- 1:14:22Speaker 3: a little bit more of the first half aggressiveness. Yeah,
- 1:14:24Speaker 3: And I would also say that in the first half
- 1:14:27Speaker 3: of the first twenty three minutes, some guys made some
- 1:14:29Speaker 3: plays like Juju makes a catch, Hunter, Henry, you know
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: that ball stabbed it fifty to fifty on that ball,
- 1:14:35Speaker 3: like that ball was really close to the safety breaking
- 1:14:38Speaker 3: that pass up. I think, you know what, one thing
- 1:14:40Speaker 3: I'll give Zappy credit for on that play because I
- 1:14:42Speaker 3: thought the throw was looking back on it on the
- 1:14:45Speaker 3: All twenty two, I was like, oh, that was a
- 1:14:46Speaker 3: little bit closer than I thought it.
- 1:14:48Speaker 6: Burb Street Yeah, said that's not a throw you're supposed
- 1:14:50Speaker 6: to make against that comache And.
- 1:14:52Speaker 3: He mentioned it at the after the game when I
- 1:14:54Speaker 3: had asked him about He said, I was supposed to
- 1:14:55Speaker 3: be a whole shot and I kind of threw a
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: go ball, not a whole shot. But I think the
- 1:15:00Speaker 3: biggest thing with that throw I will give him credit
- 1:15:02Speaker 3: for is that I think he knew that Minca was
- 1:15:05Speaker 3: on the other side of the field, and if mic
- 1:15:08Speaker 3: is the half field safety on that side of the field,
- 1:15:09Speaker 3: I don't think he would have thrown it because he
- 1:15:11Speaker 3: would have known that Meca would have gotten it.
- 1:15:13Speaker 6: And I do like the aggressiveness. That was kind of
- 1:15:15Speaker 6: my theme this morning with my notes, was you know
- 1:15:18Speaker 6: a little bit more of that. Let's see if this
- 1:15:19Speaker 6: is yah. You know, was it a one off or
- 1:15:22Speaker 6: is this part of Zappi's skill set, you know, can
- 1:15:25Speaker 6: is he maybe a little bit better at because that throw?
- 1:15:28Speaker 6: I mean, I agree with everything Evin said. We talked
- 1:15:30Speaker 6: about it during the show, the postgame show, like yeah,
- 1:15:34Speaker 6: I don't know if you want to make a living
- 1:15:36Speaker 6: trying to make that. But the throw was perfect and
- 1:15:38Speaker 6: the catch was even better. So it was sort of
- 1:15:42Speaker 6: offense that we haven't really seen. So yes, please more
- 1:15:46Speaker 6: of that if that can.
- 1:15:47Speaker 3: I also think there's a difference between you like, yeah,
- 1:15:49Speaker 3: I'm here for that too, like a competent quarterback play,
- 1:15:52Speaker 3: which is what Zappi gave you Phillist for half and
- 1:15:55Speaker 3: terrible quarterback play like they like, yeah, Mac wasn't just
- 1:15:58Speaker 3: bad when he was bad, Mac is terrible and that
- 1:16:01Speaker 3: made them not competitive. So if you're saying, you know,
- 1:16:04Speaker 3: if Matt, if you had changed Mac out for what
- 1:16:06Speaker 3: you've gotten from Zappi, would they be better? I mean yes,
- 1:16:09Speaker 3: Like that's how much.
- 1:16:10Speaker 6: Hard to be right, hard to be worse than that,
- 1:16:12Speaker 6: But I just I just don't think the offense would
- 1:16:15Speaker 6: be much better based on based on what I've seen.
- 1:16:19Speaker 6: I mean, and we'shot, do you know, like for the
- 1:16:22Speaker 6: for the year that Zappi's passer rating still is lower
- 1:16:25Speaker 6: than Max I believe it.
- 1:16:28Speaker 5: Do you think that the play calling, like the scheme
- 1:16:30Speaker 5: that was Jon up for Mac, was the way it
- 1:16:33Speaker 5: was because of the lack of confidence that they had
- 1:16:35Speaker 5: in him, versus if they gave Mac that same game
- 1:16:39Speaker 5: plan that they gave Zappy on Thursday, like the aggressive
- 1:16:42Speaker 5: play calling the first half, would it have gone.
- 1:16:44Speaker 3: The same way?
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: But see, that's the thing.
- 1:16:45Speaker 6: I think it would have because I think Pittsburgh was,
- 1:16:48Speaker 6: as Fred said, checked out.
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: Well, I think that was part of it. But like again,
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: going back to the throw to Juju, I think that
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: Mac sometimes chose not to make those.
- 1:16:59Speaker 4: Yeah, he hesitated.
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: I don't think the offense was, you know, that different.
- 1:17:03Speaker 6: I think it was a little different, But I don't
- 1:17:05Speaker 6: think Juju. I mean, I don't think Mack would have
- 1:17:07Speaker 6: made the throw to Hunter Henry because he wasn't supposed to.
- 1:17:11Speaker 6: But the Juju one, I don't know. Maybe maybe he
- 1:17:14Speaker 6: throws it out in front of him and it's a
- 1:17:15Speaker 6: touchdown because that was a jump ball that he threw.
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: Oh yeah.
- 1:17:18Speaker 6: And this is why I'm not like, I think I
- 1:17:21Speaker 6: loved what I saw in the first half because it's
- 1:17:24Speaker 6: just been the whole year of nothingness on offense, you know,
- 1:17:27Speaker 6: with very few exceptions. So they threw three touchdown passes
- 1:17:31Speaker 6: the first half. I'm not going to sit here and
- 1:17:33Speaker 6: nitpick at all, but I do recognize you get a
- 1:17:36Speaker 6: pick six basically for seven of the points, and again,
- 1:17:39Speaker 6: ev you take away that, like the block punt and
- 1:17:41Speaker 6: the pick six, you take fifteen points off the board
- 1:17:44Speaker 6: and you're under. Yeah, it's fourteen ten instead of twenty
- 1:17:47Speaker 6: one eighteen. Like that's a big difference.
- 1:17:49Speaker 3: I think.
- 1:17:50Speaker 7: To the point for me is just we're talking right
- 1:17:52Speaker 7: now at a snapshot in time of coming off of
- 1:17:54Speaker 7: this game where we've got Kansas City at Denver, at Buffalo,
- 1:17:58Speaker 7: you know, the Jets. I mean, you got four really
- 1:18:00Speaker 7: good AFC games that I think will really tell like
- 1:18:03Speaker 7: answer all these questions about was does Zappie have anything
- 1:18:06Speaker 7: or is it you know, is it the offense generally?
- 1:18:08Speaker 7: Have they made any strides? Real teams that I think
- 1:18:11Speaker 7: you can judge from these are these are the teams
- 1:18:13Speaker 7: this team has to get back with a beat.
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: You know, you know, I was thinking about that. There's
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: a lot of things I want to bring up here
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: before the show's over, But I was thinking, who do
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: I want to keep on this team? You know from
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: what I've seen so far, Like you said, there's four
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: games that you know are meaningful in terms of just
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: guys playing out the string, and you know, who do
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: we want? And I think I can come up with
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: at least ten guys that I say, you know what,
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: I want them on my team. You know.
- 1:18:43Speaker 3: What if I told you to do it right now? Okay,
- 1:18:45Speaker 3: off like on all sides of them both, Okay, I
- 1:18:48Speaker 3: could probably get to to I've actually ten.
- 1:18:53Speaker 6: Yeah, I could get to ten guys. Not necessarily that
- 1:18:56Speaker 6: I like, I need to have these guys, but like
- 1:18:58Speaker 6: sure I could get that I got because I only
- 1:19:01Speaker 6: have like three guys like Christian Barmore. I need Christian Barmore,
- 1:19:04Speaker 6: I need Christian Gonzales Like I don't have too many
- 1:19:07Speaker 6: guys that I need.
- 1:19:07Speaker 7: I got.
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: It's just a guy. I don't know if you need them,
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: but I want them back. I want them back. They
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: you know, they're good players and I want them back.
- 1:19:15Speaker 7: I got twelve. I did this as an exercise with
- 1:19:18Speaker 7: can I hear?
- 1:19:19Speaker 6: Can I hear your twelve?
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: Okay? Well, obviously you know bar More Keon White Gonzales.
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: I think Jude On. You know that's four Douggart five.
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: They gotta resign him. I want On when you back.
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: I want Stevenson back. Let's see, uh, I want if
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: he wants to keep playing. I want David Andrews back.
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: What am I up to eight?
- 1:19:47Speaker 6: You're up to eight?
- 1:19:47Speaker 3: Eight Douglas?
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: Yeah, well yeah, I didn't even have him on my list.
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: I want, I want him, I want I want Anthony Jennings.
- 1:19:56Speaker 10: What what?
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: Okay?
- 1:19:57Speaker 6: What else you got? I mean, these are guys you
- 1:19:58Speaker 6: you have to have back. Like I didn't say, I
- 1:20:01Speaker 6: said I want them back, Okay, but like, like, why
- 1:20:04Speaker 6: can't you just have another Antony d? Because I respect
- 1:20:07Speaker 6: what they were A diamond.
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: Do No, But you need these guys. I mean you
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: you can't.
- 1:20:11Speaker 6: That's that's what I'm saying.
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: Everybody can't be you.
- 1:20:13Speaker 6: Know, Gonzales, I need him.
- 1:20:15Speaker 3: You need to start. I need a potentially young, fifty
- 1:20:18Speaker 3: three new players sixt year Fred. That's the only way
- 1:20:21Speaker 3: for fifty three whole new place.
- 1:20:23Speaker 6: You know, that's not what I'm saying. Right now, you're
- 1:20:25Speaker 6: making fun of me.
- 1:20:25Speaker 3: I'm not.
- 1:20:26Speaker 6: I'm saying I think there's a difference between I need
- 1:20:30Speaker 6: to have these guys back, and sure, like Fromer Stevenson
- 1:20:33Speaker 6: the last year of his deal, Sure I'll take them back.
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: All these guys I've mentioned. Obviously, Gonzales is, you know, special,
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: and I think bar More.
- 1:20:40Speaker 6: I would, I would put Evans guys, all these special.
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: But all these guys I mentioned have shown me that
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: they they are, they want to play football, and they
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: could be a good, you know, good part of the team.
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: And why not. Why not have these foundational you know
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: pieces here.
- 1:20:57Speaker 6: You know, just I'm not sure they are. That's my point.
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: It's like when ill to Check first came here, he
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: brought in guys like Bobby Hamilton and and they're not great,
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: but he knew that, Yeah, he knew that they would be.
- 1:21:09Speaker 3: It would be the best player, solid, solid.
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: Players on my team. You need those players too.
- 1:21:14Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't think that they Like foundational is not
- 1:21:16Speaker 3: the word I'd use for ninety percent of that. But
- 1:21:18Speaker 3: like I'm with you, like in terms of just those
- 1:21:21Speaker 3: are guys that can play roles on the team and
- 1:21:23Speaker 3: our functional NFL starting caliber players and you can't redo
- 1:21:27Speaker 3: the whole entire roster.
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: And in a season like this, they've played hard throughout,
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: and I respect that it's hard for me.
- 1:21:35Speaker 6: I also don't agree with that, but I'm not going
- 1:21:37Speaker 6: to argue with you.
- 1:21:38Speaker 7: Because I've only got three on offense, Andrews, Douglas and Stevenson,
- 1:21:42Speaker 7: and defensively I had gotcha bar More, Judohn Bentley to
- 1:21:45Speaker 7: buy Jay Jones Peppers and consent.
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: Oh, Jonathan Jones was on my list as well, was it.
- 1:21:50Speaker 7: I'd like to say key on White, but I haven't
- 1:21:52Speaker 7: really like that's more of like a wishful thing than
- 1:21:54Speaker 7: an actual substantive kind of performance. I think he could
- 1:21:57Speaker 7: get there, but that's really it for me. The three
- 1:22:00Speaker 7: guys on office.
- 1:22:01Speaker 6: I get what you guys are saying, and I'm not
- 1:22:03Speaker 6: going to turn it into a semantic argument. I get
- 1:22:05Speaker 6: I get the point you guys are right. I would
- 1:22:07Speaker 6: I would know, like I'm saying. I'm not going to
- 1:22:10Speaker 6: say like foundational piece, yeah, but we could get bogged
- 1:22:14Speaker 6: down in semantics. I just think I just think it
- 1:22:16Speaker 6: speaks to the state of the roster. Those half of
- 1:22:19Speaker 6: those guys are pending free agents. Most of them won't
- 1:22:22Speaker 6: be back. Yeah, like not necessarily you.
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: Alone, other than far More in Gonzales, I think they
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: they constitute a solid middle class.
- 1:22:29Speaker 3: And I would get yourself prepared for Judah not being
- 1:22:32Speaker 3: back next too. Well, it depends on who's in charge.
- 1:22:36Speaker 3: If you have somebody that that prioritizes star power, then
- 1:22:40Speaker 3: I think he will be back. But if it's built
- 1:22:42Speaker 3: then no. Yeah, and well, and the other part of
- 1:22:44Speaker 3: this is we'll go back to your information.
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: Like God show us played pretty well too.
- 1:22:48Speaker 3: Yeah, I know I would.
- 1:22:48Speaker 6: I would like, but can we get a guy that
- 1:22:52Speaker 6: makes like, you know, a tenth of that and then
- 1:22:54Speaker 6: spend that money on T Higgins? What do you care
- 1:22:57Speaker 6: about money plow because I want to spend it on
- 1:22:58Speaker 6: T Higgins. That's why the answer.
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: Before you that shouldn't stop you from doing that, But it.
- 1:23:02Speaker 6: Will, Well it shouldn't, but it will. It doesn't. It
- 1:23:06Speaker 6: did the same thing to Kansas City.
- 1:23:07Speaker 7: I would have that Conressa.
- 1:23:08Speaker 6: They had no reason not to. They have no reason
- 1:23:11Speaker 6: to have Sky Moore and Marquez Valdez scantling in Justin
- 1:23:15Speaker 6: Watson as their receiving cores right now. But they but
- 1:23:19Speaker 6: that's what they have because they didn't spend the money
- 1:23:22Speaker 6: for me. That's what I worry abou about.
- 1:23:23Speaker 7: T Higgins comes down to when you Dugger ouch like
- 1:23:26Speaker 7: it's I mean, you know, Gotsha's already here, He's extended
- 1:23:29Speaker 7: like that's you know, but that's the Congress, that's big money.
- 1:23:32Speaker 6: Would you rather sign but to stuff to run? In
- 1:23:35Speaker 6: the immortal words of Evan Lazar, it's not two thousand.
- 1:23:38Speaker 7: And three, but he's a centerpiece. I mean, I I
- 1:23:41Speaker 7: just think, like when you like so, you know what
- 1:23:43Speaker 7: I mean to do him?
- 1:23:44Speaker 4: Like God, I'd pick Mic and t Higgins.
- 1:23:49Speaker 5: Okay, like resigned big Mic and then use the rest
- 1:23:52Speaker 5: of that money. I do like Dougger, and I do
- 1:23:54Speaker 5: like OJ, but not more than T.
- 1:23:56Speaker 3: Higgins. I would. I would make sure you keep Dougger.
- 1:23:59Speaker 7: Also, I think hard Dugger at probably his best game.
- 1:24:01Speaker 3: Dougger would be my first week, what this week was,
- 1:24:04Speaker 3: I think, So, I think Dougger's had a pretty solid
- 1:24:06Speaker 3: year on them.
- 1:24:06Speaker 6: I think Douger is really good. I would, I would
- 1:24:08Speaker 6: keep him. And again this goes back to your like,
- 1:24:12Speaker 6: at some point you have to establish a nucleus of
- 1:24:15Speaker 6: players that you want to draft, develop and keep that right,
- 1:24:19Speaker 6: So I think Dugger is one of those guys. If
- 1:24:21Speaker 6: you want you to be one of those guys, too, fine.
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: Well, Robin the catskills. The reason that this kind of
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: little light bulb over my head is he's talking about
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: the same thing he said that the Dolphins of Brown
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: just signed key players to reasonable deals. Austin and del Pitt,
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: Can we not walk and chew bubble gum anymore? Why
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: haven't we already resigned on when you and Douggar? Yeah,
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: I think I think it's got more to do with
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: Robert Kraft telling Bill Belichick only focus on twenty twenty
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: three with you and don't touch anything in the future.
- 1:24:52Speaker 6: So let's just say, for arguments sake that the new
- 1:24:54Speaker 6: that a new coach comes in and Evan will give
- 1:24:58Speaker 6: you the traits. But some guy comes in and he
- 1:25:02Speaker 6: wants a whole different kind of offensive lineman than a
- 1:25:04Speaker 6: three hundred and forty pound guard.
- 1:25:06Speaker 3: I need a different guy. I need, not him, but
- 1:25:09Speaker 3: stranger I need.
- 1:25:11Speaker 6: I need a whole different body type at guard. Well,
- 1:25:14Speaker 6: Bill just gave him a five year, sixty five million
- 1:25:16Speaker 6: dollar extension, right, Well.
- 1:25:17Speaker 7: The same thing with if you resigned Douggar and you
- 1:25:19Speaker 7: come into camp next year and you have a new
- 1:25:20Speaker 7: defensive CORNERA said, I don't need six, I don't need
- 1:25:23Speaker 7: I need one.
- 1:25:23Speaker 3: And now you're saying I agree with that's the reason
- 1:25:26Speaker 3: why you haven't seen.
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: Otherwise they would have been I would jump, I would.
- 1:25:30Speaker 6: I didn't say they would be resigned.
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: Oh I think so, I think Bill.
- 1:25:33Speaker 6: If they've never done that, they've never resigned a guy
- 1:25:37Speaker 6: in the last five or six weeks of a season,
- 1:25:40Speaker 6: it would have been done early.
- 1:25:41Speaker 3: It would have been done over the summer.
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: Yeah, I've done early.
- 1:25:43Speaker 6: Who's the last guy that did that?
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: They did a shak Mason. They did it with James Sanders,
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: they did it with Tully Banter.
- 1:25:51Speaker 10: Two thousand and five.
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: I don't but they've done.
- 1:25:53Speaker 3: That's what I said. When was the last time we
- 1:25:55Speaker 3: got one? I gave you another one. Jonathan Jones did it.
- 1:25:59Speaker 3: Jonathan Jones was a free agent and he re signed. No, no, no, no,
- 1:26:02Speaker 3: Johnny the first time, the first time with Jonathan Jones.
- 1:26:05Speaker 6: Okay, so again, you're going back six years. He's still
- 1:26:10Speaker 6: in the ruck five years. Yeah, So like to me,
- 1:26:15Speaker 6: wasn't he just a free agent?
- 1:26:17Speaker 7: Yes, he was a free agent and he resigned, but
- 1:26:19Speaker 7: he signed three extensions.
- 1:26:21Speaker 6: But the first recent yeah, not the same. The first
- 1:26:24Speaker 6: one is not the same. It's not going to be
- 1:26:25Speaker 6: Dugger money.
- 1:26:26Speaker 7: I'd skip, I'd go to Barmore, I'd extend Barmore. This
- 1:26:29Speaker 7: of like, I would get get out of the cycle
- 1:26:31Speaker 7: of letting guys I haven't done this a lot. Get
- 1:26:33Speaker 7: get ahead of the curve.
- 1:26:35Speaker 3: They used to do it all the time.
- 1:26:36Speaker 7: I mean, just I mean I even would pitch Extendibral
- 1:26:39Speaker 7: Peppers instead of signing Dugger.
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: He's another guy who's played well. So now we're up
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: to twelve for me.
- 1:26:44Speaker 3: Just keep free Shore, so soon we're gonna be up
- 1:26:46Speaker 3: to fifty three.
- 1:26:48Speaker 6: Just out of argument, how many guys from a three
- 1:26:51Speaker 6: and ten team do you want back?
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: I'm just saying, but people think that this team doesn't
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: have talent.
- 1:26:55Speaker 6: It doesn't. That's why they are three inten I think.
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: These guys have You need to add to that. But
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: I think these are good middle class guys and they
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: you know, I.
- 1:27:05Speaker 3: Kind of agree with this point in that, like, if
- 1:27:07Speaker 3: this team had the if this team had the quarterback
- 1:27:10Speaker 3: and they had like and these Anthony Jennings would be
- 1:27:13Speaker 3: a functional edge set the quarterback. I agree, Like, so
- 1:27:18Speaker 3: I want I want to get I want to get
- 1:27:19Speaker 3: that far. I want to go back to get They would.
- 1:27:22Speaker 5: Wait no, I like what Paul just emphasized. It can't
- 1:27:25Speaker 5: be a quarterback. It needs to be the quarterback.
- 1:27:28Speaker 6: And okay, let's quarter Let's let's talk about your red
- 1:27:34Speaker 6: center for a second, because I think this is interesting,
- 1:27:36Speaker 6: Like it's a totally different kind of player. Anthony Jennings
- 1:27:41Speaker 6: has done his job better than Matthew Judon did the
- 1:27:45Speaker 6: job that Jennings is doing in terms of stopping the run, yes,
- 1:27:48Speaker 6: being an edge ctter and being physical at the I
- 1:27:51Speaker 6: think that the jump and run defense, that's not a coincidence.
- 1:27:55Speaker 6: I think he's better at that than Judon was. Now
- 1:27:58Speaker 6: you've obviously lost pass rushing prowess. Jennings is not a
- 1:28:02Speaker 6: guy who's going to get you double digit sacks. So
- 1:28:05Speaker 6: you could make an argument there like, all right, well, Judon,
- 1:28:09Speaker 6: you know he's thirty something high, you know, big money.
- 1:28:13Speaker 6: He's not coming back for what he's on the books
- 1:28:15Speaker 6: for next year. He ain't playing for that, So you
- 1:28:18Speaker 6: have to decide do I want to extend. That's why
- 1:28:20Speaker 6: I said, don't be surprised if he's not part of
- 1:28:22Speaker 6: the team.
- 1:28:22Speaker 10: Last year.
- 1:28:22Speaker 6: It's Stefan Gilmour two point zero. Yeah, you gave him
- 1:28:25Speaker 6: a little money off of next year's contract to satisfy
- 1:28:28Speaker 6: him for this year. He's gonna want that back next
- 1:28:31Speaker 6: year if he's coming back.
- 1:28:33Speaker 3: And I would be okay with with them moving on
- 1:28:35Speaker 3: from Judon because of all the reasons that you just
- 1:28:37Speaker 3: laid out, his age also being another one. But I
- 1:28:41Speaker 3: don't see on the roster right now that they have
- 1:28:43Speaker 3: a guy that can replace.
- 1:28:44Speaker 6: Him, and I would agree. I would give him money
- 1:28:47Speaker 6: because I think there's now here's where I'm going to
- 1:28:49Speaker 6: go all fred. His value would having the Bobby Hamilton types,
- 1:28:53Speaker 6: not the same kind of player. But you know, okay,
- 1:28:55Speaker 6: maybe Judon's not that like Studs.
- 1:29:00Speaker 3: Rusher, that's t J. Watt, but he's still pretty good.
- 1:29:06Speaker 6: He gives you as as Evan said earlier, for a
- 1:29:08Speaker 6: new coach maybe wants like a star power kind of guy,
- 1:29:11Speaker 6: a Pro Bowl caliber player. I would give him money.
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: I would.
- 1:29:15Speaker 6: I would not do what they did with Gilmore. I
- 1:29:17Speaker 6: would give them a little bit more money.
- 1:29:18Speaker 7: And now, maybe if you feel comfortable keeping Jennings and
- 1:29:21Speaker 7: allowing to pull back on jude On and not forcing
- 1:29:23Speaker 7: jude On to play every snap and manage his snaps
- 1:29:25Speaker 7: a little bit more, as you.
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: Figure out a way to get them both on the
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: field at the same time.
- 1:29:28Speaker 6: But if if you's point, but if jude On goes
- 1:29:31Speaker 6: I think, I mean Evan was kind of getting that that.
- 1:29:33Speaker 7: I mean, you just you have a huge concern about
- 1:29:35Speaker 7: pass rushing and then it's like.
- 1:29:36Speaker 3: All right because already, well, right now, they already really
- 1:29:38Speaker 3: can't rush the pass. Yeah, they don't really get quarterbacks
- 1:29:41Speaker 3: unless they blitz. And that it's fine for the most
- 1:29:45Speaker 3: part if you when you have a defensive coordinary, rather
- 1:29:50Speaker 3: want to give build a credit or out of the
- 1:29:51Speaker 3: credit whoever that can dial it up a little bit.
- 1:29:53Speaker 3: They have gotten pressure some ways with that. But just
- 1:29:56Speaker 3: in terms of like a guy that can just plane
- 1:29:58Speaker 3: win one on one, I don't really have that right now.
- 1:30:01Speaker 3: And it's not ke On White.
- 1:30:02Speaker 6: And you notice the guys who they're getting pressure on too,
- 1:30:04Speaker 6: it's Tommy DeVito. It's bitch trubisky. Like they didn't get
- 1:30:08Speaker 6: anywhere near mit Herbert, right.
- 1:30:11Speaker 7: I thought you said something.
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: I'm sorry.
- 1:30:14Speaker 3: I heard the other one, Mitchell. I mean, that's also
- 1:30:18Speaker 3: fair to call him that too.
- 1:30:19Speaker 4: He goes by, Mitch.
- 1:30:22Speaker 7: I just want to make on this thing though, like
- 1:30:24Speaker 7: I got three guys on offense that I like three
- 1:30:26Speaker 7: guys and one's a slot receiver. Andrews might retire.
- 1:30:29Speaker 6: You know, you got your fourth running back during the
- 1:30:32Speaker 6: last year of his deal, and that's your problems a center.
- 1:30:36Speaker 3: The one guy I would maybe add to that who
- 1:30:38Speaker 3: was a free is Hunter Henry. Yeah, I would be
- 1:30:40Speaker 3: interested in bringing.
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: Back, but with nothing I think I can replace.
- 1:30:45Speaker 3: I can replace, you can do with that.
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: I don't.
- 1:30:48Speaker 3: I don't think that that's true because, like you look
- 1:30:51Speaker 3: at the way that you draft titands like, can we
- 1:30:53Speaker 3: just keep Beryl Brown? I think that, I mean, is
- 1:30:56Speaker 3: a better player than Barrel Brown. It just you can't.
- 1:30:59Speaker 3: The draft is a crapshoot at tight end, Like it's
- 1:31:03Speaker 3: really difficult to get we are one production out of
- 1:31:06Speaker 3: that position. So if you don't have any sort of
- 1:31:08Speaker 3: veteran there, like a Hunter Henry to just keep the
- 1:31:11Speaker 3: seat warm, at least, you're really banking a lot of
- 1:31:14Speaker 3: another one on yours.
- 1:31:15Speaker 6: Depending on the coach.
- 1:31:16Speaker 7: Who is twenty ten would they bring in with Gronk
- 1:31:17Speaker 7: and Hernandez when they drafted them the VET they had
- 1:31:19Speaker 7: the veteran tight end there at the algae.
- 1:31:22Speaker 6: Crump that poor guy could not even get out of
- 1:31:25Speaker 6: his seat he was so banged up. Oh my god,
- 1:31:29Speaker 6: watching him after a game was pain.
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: Is he the guy that every time he got up
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: it was like he was like putting himself back together.
- 1:31:36Speaker 6: No, Yeah, that guy. He was good. He was a
- 1:31:38Speaker 6: good pro. He was just he was a pro. But
- 1:31:41Speaker 6: like to Evan's point about the tight end, I think
- 1:31:44Speaker 6: there are guys that you can find in the draft
- 1:31:47Speaker 6: like Green Bays. You know, like you're gonna they're gonna
- 1:31:50Speaker 6: catch the ball and make some flash plays. Sam la Porter,
- 1:31:53Speaker 6: you know gat year, he's like phenomen that's like this, yeah,
- 1:31:57Speaker 6: phenomenal season. But I don't necessarily think Bill would be
- 1:32:01Speaker 6: gravitating toward those kinds of guys because they he's like
- 1:32:05Speaker 6: you've heard you've heard him even talked about the sicky
- 1:32:07Speaker 6: like that.
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: Well, I think we have to look at next year
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: without the lens of Bill picking them.
- 1:32:13Speaker 6: That's what I'm saying.
- 1:32:14Speaker 3: You don't know coach to pick him.
- 1:32:16Speaker 6: If you have a coach that has one of these
- 1:32:18Speaker 6: sort of new fangled Sean McVay or Shannon An offenses,
- 1:32:23Speaker 6: then yeah, I would say, fine, let hunt because hunter
- 1:32:26Speaker 6: and is going to cost you money.
- 1:32:27Speaker 3: Yeah, I would just say that they have to have
- 1:32:30Speaker 3: somebody that is an NFL caliber tight end at that spot,
- 1:32:34Speaker 3: and I just don't know if you can count on
- 1:32:35Speaker 3: that being a draft pick. And I would also say
- 1:32:37Speaker 3: that now you're adding another need, like you're just creating.
- 1:32:40Speaker 6: Another And I'd be stunned if he wants anything. No, no,
- 1:32:44Speaker 6: he isn't unless unless they unless they give him a
- 1:32:47Speaker 6: good contract. I don't see him.
- 1:32:49Speaker 3: What if they franchise tagh it's really expensive, it's but
- 1:32:53Speaker 3: it's not as expensive as other positions.
- 1:32:56Speaker 6: But it's one hundred and twenty percent of his salary
- 1:32:58Speaker 6: because it's over the franchise tag, I would just.
- 1:33:02Speaker 3: I would entertain franchise tagging him because it's a bridge.
- 1:33:05Speaker 3: Right one year, I get it, you draft a guy
- 1:33:08Speaker 3: in the middle round.
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: You know me.
- 1:33:09Speaker 6: I'm not about the money as long as it doesn't
- 1:33:11Speaker 6: prevent you from spending it elsewhere.
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: I'm all for.
- 1:33:13Speaker 3: I don't know what my money is exactly now, but
- 1:33:16Speaker 3: tight end is one of the lowest tag numbers out
- 1:33:18Speaker 3: of all the position groups. Like it's like safety, tight end,
- 1:33:21Speaker 3: off ball, linebacker like those.
- 1:33:23Speaker 6: I'm not like, I don't have the number, but I
- 1:33:27Speaker 6: believe that because his salary is high right now, he
- 1:33:31Speaker 6: would be do one hundred and twenty percent of that,
- 1:33:34Speaker 6: not the his salary would exceed thatranchise.
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: Because his salary is harder than the top average of
- 1:33:41Speaker 1: the top five, correct, right, So.
- 1:33:44Speaker 6: He would be due if you wanted a franchise, and
- 1:33:46Speaker 6: I think it's one hundred and twenty percent, Miguel would
- 1:33:48Speaker 6: have that exact number. I'm sure, right.
- 1:33:50Speaker 3: So this year the tag on the tight ends was
- 1:33:52Speaker 3: eleven point three million. That will obviously go up a
- 1:33:54Speaker 3: little bit next year, but it's all inflation relative. So
- 1:33:57Speaker 3: you're there, you're talking tight ends, it's running backs. Is
- 1:34:02Speaker 3: the cheapest tight end safety and actual teams is obviously
- 1:34:06Speaker 3: the cheapest, And.
- 1:34:06Speaker 6: I don't care about money, so I would do it. Yeah,
- 1:34:10Speaker 6: But I'm just I just wanted to throw that stipulation.
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: Maybe Hunter Henry would defer it until.
- 1:34:16Speaker 7: Four Yeah, I think can you do that? That's reviewing.
- 1:34:21Speaker 6: I think it's more dramatic. I think if there's a
- 1:34:23Speaker 6: million guys in that league that do that. But I
- 1:34:25Speaker 6: think he's but he is still getting his very d years.
- 1:34:28Speaker 6: I think is still getting paid.
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: Definitely creating an annuity for yourself.
- 1:34:31Speaker 6: Yeah, but his is really dramatic. Two million a year
- 1:34:35Speaker 6: for ten years and then like an emergence.
- 1:34:37Speaker 7: But I heard on top of that two million year
- 1:34:41Speaker 7: is not going to do well, probably endorsement emergency.
- 1:34:43Speaker 4: His endorsements are making up.
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: I heard he's making fifty million a year in endorsement,
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: where it's really like a guy like Bryce Harper makes
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: four or five million a year, and it's.
- 1:34:52Speaker 7: Well, he's probably global, and it's.
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: Oh yeah, global.
- 1:34:56Speaker 6: It's funny because I've never really seen show in an
- 1:35:00Speaker 6: but it's probably all international stuff.
- 1:35:02Speaker 7: Like when you see like those like United States athletes
- 1:35:05Speaker 7: that do like Japanese ads and stuff, it always looks
- 1:35:07Speaker 7: really weird, but it's probably totally fine with Tom.
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, back to the phone's ticket houtline. Mildred
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: in North Carolina. What's up, Beldrid?
- 1:35:19Speaker 10: There it is, Hey lady, all right, lady, Hey Mike,
- 1:35:25Speaker 10: Hey what there you go? Just again? Yeah?
- 1:35:30Speaker 3: Oh yeah, that's one game with one game with all
- 1:35:34Speaker 3: just keep it run air thing back.
- 1:35:36Speaker 7: Yeah, I'm sorry. He's the greatest head coach of all time.
- 1:35:38Speaker 7: I'm not just gonna fire him for one bad season. Okay,
- 1:35:40Speaker 7: greatest head of coach of all time? Who are you
- 1:35:41Speaker 7: gonna hire? What are you gonna go get some offensive
- 1:35:43Speaker 7: coordinator who's never won a game in their life.
- 1:35:45Speaker 1: No, thank you.
- 1:35:46Speaker 7: I'm gonna stick with Bill Belichick. There's so much parody
- 1:35:48Speaker 7: in the league this year. We're so close, Eldred. We're
- 1:35:51Speaker 7: gonna take them one more year. Seventy one years old,
- 1:35:53Speaker 7: seventy two, let's go.
- 1:35:56Speaker 3: You made I don't know how you can come back
- 1:36:06Speaker 3: from that. Aldred stayed out Ron, but.
- 1:36:12Speaker 11: It wasn't mex Bo him and Max and and and
- 1:36:16Speaker 11: the laugh for you.
- 1:36:17Speaker 10: Come on, you gotta I gotta do it over again.
- 1:36:20Speaker 10: You got what? That's all I gotta say.
- 1:36:22Speaker 1: Ye have all right? Thanks? Aldred? Uh Let's go to
- 1:36:25Speaker 1: Long Island. Mike's there, Hey, Mike, Mike.
- 1:36:32Speaker 7: Uh So, this is like the.
- 1:36:35Speaker 17: First time I've called in on this post. I called
- 1:36:37Speaker 17: in like years ago, and I lived out last whatever
- 1:36:39Speaker 17: who cares?
- 1:36:40Speaker 5: Right?
- 1:36:40Speaker 17: So hypothetically, right, we got the first or second pick
- 1:36:43Speaker 17: in the draft. Yes, if they're up for it, would
- 1:36:47Speaker 17: you trade that to Justin Herbert for Justin Herbert because
- 1:36:50Speaker 17: I'm sure Staley's out whoever's doing there they want to start?
- 1:36:54Speaker 6: Yes, I would do that.
- 1:36:55Speaker 3: Chargers trade Justin Herbert. They are on crack.
- 1:36:58Speaker 6: I would trade the first one second overall pick for
- 1:37:01Speaker 6: Justin Herbert in a blink. Yeah that I'm hoping that
- 1:37:06Speaker 6: the guy I take at one or two is as
- 1:37:07Speaker 6: good as Justin Herbert.
- 1:37:09Speaker 3: Right, that's crap, shoot yep, right, So why would the
- 1:37:13Speaker 3: Chargers do that? Well details, I'm just saying. I'm just
- 1:37:21Speaker 3: trying to keep it real, like I you know, if
- 1:37:24Speaker 3: the Chargers trade Justin Herbert instead of getting Justin Herbert
- 1:37:27Speaker 3: a coach that knows what he's doing, and then that
- 1:37:29Speaker 3: organization is just toast like they're just never going to
- 1:37:31Speaker 3: be good.
- 1:37:32Speaker 17: They.
- 1:37:35Speaker 3: Then then they don't know what they're doing.
- 1:37:39Speaker 4: Cool, all right, thanks, thanks for I would love to
- 1:37:43Speaker 4: have he.
- 1:37:46Speaker 6: Do.
- 1:37:46Speaker 3: Other people call him that.
- 1:37:51Speaker 6: We brought it into the pregame show too.
- 1:37:54Speaker 7: He's superbo.
- 1:37:56Speaker 5: Oh my god, J Herbo suple not long if for
- 1:37:59Speaker 5: some reason and they did do that, like want to
- 1:38:01Speaker 5: trade him, and then the Patriots didn't have the second
- 1:38:04Speaker 5: pick and they were able to get Marvin Harrison if
- 1:38:07Speaker 5: he decides to go into the draft and not go
- 1:38:09Speaker 5: back and try to beat Michigan.
- 1:38:10Speaker 4: If you got him and then J Herbert, that'd be wild.
- 1:38:14Speaker 3: Wild by How would they get Marvin Harrison junior just
- 1:38:17Speaker 3: because someone listen. Maybe they're just having a fire, said
- 1:38:21Speaker 3: Patriot for the second round. Patriots second round, Get Justin
- 1:38:24Speaker 3: Herbert for a second round. Picking up the questions the
- 1:38:29Speaker 3: Chargers should have to dissolve as a franchise, would the Crafts?
- 1:38:33Speaker 6: Would the Crafts be willing to pay Justin Herbert just
- 1:38:35Speaker 6: signed that big extension a lot of money.
- 1:38:38Speaker 3: Well, Patriots dot Com Evan Lazarre says that Drake May
- 1:38:41Speaker 3: is just like Justin Herbert the rookie contract contract boo,
- 1:38:47Speaker 3: I never boo.
- 1:38:50Speaker 1: What's the ground swell for Daniels now that he's Trophy?
- 1:38:55Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, I read a little bit about that
- 1:38:57Speaker 3: Daniels the other day because I think that a lot
- 1:39:00Speaker 3: of Patriots fans that I'm not taking shots at you, guys.
- 1:39:02Speaker 3: I'm just telling you how I feel. I think it's
- 1:39:05Speaker 3: a two quarterback class. It's Caleb Williams or Drake May,
- 1:39:07Speaker 3: and I think it's going to be a four quarterback
- 1:39:09Speaker 3: class before this is all said and done. I think
- 1:39:11Speaker 3: Pennix and Jayden Daniels are going to be first round
- 1:39:14Speaker 3: conversation for sure, especially if Penix play as well in
- 1:39:17Speaker 3: the College Football Playoff. Like I understand he's got injury history,
- 1:39:20Speaker 3: but I don't know what else Pennixy's to do to
- 1:39:22Speaker 3: be considered a first round prospect. I mean, the guy's
- 1:39:25Speaker 3: film is unbelievable. And Daniels is I think kind of
- 1:39:29Speaker 3: Lamar Jackson Ish you know, has very similar traits and
- 1:39:33Speaker 3: has now has a Heisman Trophy just like Lamar does.
- 1:39:36Speaker 3: So another guy that I think, you know, Lamar went
- 1:39:39Speaker 3: thirty second overall. It was probably a little bit too
- 1:39:42Speaker 3: far ahead of his time, Like if you fast forward
- 1:39:45Speaker 3: that five years, he's not going to the thirty second overall.
- 1:39:49Speaker 3: And I think that's what's gonna end up happening with Jayden, Daniels.
- 1:39:52Speaker 1: Joe and Ontario. After watching Zappi run the offense for
- 1:39:55Speaker 1: two weeks, I found myself thinking that he looked much
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: more comfortable in the pocket and had a a lot
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: more zip on the ball than Mac. The offense looked
- 1:40:02Speaker 1: better with Zapi running it, However, it still looked really bad.
- 1:40:06Speaker 1: How did it come to this? If things look great
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: or even good with Zapy, I would be fine saying
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: the coaching, offensive line, skilled players, et cetera are fine
- 1:40:13Speaker 1: and Mac was the problem all along. Or if things
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: looked even worse with Zapi than it did with Mac.
- 1:40:19Speaker 1: I would think that maybe Mac isn't that bad, and
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: the problem is coaching O line skilled players. The fact
- 1:40:25Speaker 1: that it looks just a little bit better with Zapi
- 1:40:28Speaker 1: but still looks bad leaves me thinking that Mac is terrible,
- 1:40:31Speaker 1: the coaching is terrible, and the overall talent on our
- 1:40:34Speaker 1: offense is terrible. How is it possible that none of
- 1:40:37Speaker 1: the coaching changes, free agency pickups, or draft choices over
- 1:40:41Speaker 1: the past three years have helped this team improve offensively?
- 1:40:45Speaker 1: It seems we didn't even have the beginning of an
- 1:40:47Speaker 1: offense to start building on for next season. Am I wrong?
- 1:40:51Speaker 1: Or you just kind of talked about that.
- 1:40:53Speaker 3: About a guard well in the first round?
- 1:40:56Speaker 1: Guard you think is getting better Evan?
- 1:40:59Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I have to like he's for a guard,
- 1:41:01Speaker 3: he's getting better. But yeah, I don't know what it matters,
- 1:41:06Speaker 3: but yeah, his film the last couple of weeks has
- 1:41:08Speaker 3: definitely been better. I think most of his mistakes now
- 1:41:11Speaker 3: are more mental than physical. And I was worried that
- 1:41:13Speaker 3: he couldn't play in the league like starting last year.
- 1:41:17Speaker 3: Now I think that he looks, you know, like he's
- 1:41:19Speaker 3: got the play strength to play in an NFL offense.
- 1:41:23Speaker 3: But you know he's just trying to figure out the
- 1:41:25Speaker 3: line movement and the blitzes and things like that. But
- 1:41:28Speaker 3: he has gotten better.
- 1:41:29Speaker 7: He's getting it.
- 1:41:30Speaker 6: Yeah, the offense, I'm going to defend Zappi a little bit.
- 1:41:35Speaker 6: I agree it hasn't looked It hasn't looked great with Zappi,
- 1:41:40Speaker 6: But I will say he was dealing with a group
- 1:41:43Speaker 6: that Mac never had to deal with. On Thursday night.
- 1:41:47Speaker 6: He had no Parker, he had no Stevenson, he had
- 1:41:50Speaker 6: no born like Douglas. You know that Mac didn't have
- 1:41:54Speaker 6: a game.
- 1:41:55Speaker 1: Conor McDermot at left tackle for the most part. Right, No,
- 1:41:59Speaker 1: Trent Trent played, not the whole game.
- 1:42:03Speaker 6: No, but that's what they've been doing by design.
- 1:42:05Speaker 1: They brought Trent. They didn't bring Trent Brown into like
- 1:42:08Speaker 1: the second half. Right, No, they both played, did they? Okay?
- 1:42:12Speaker 6: But my point is the skill guys are we can
- 1:42:16Speaker 6: all agree lacking. You took half of those skilled guys
- 1:42:21Speaker 6: out of the lineup in this game. I don't think
- 1:42:24Speaker 6: Mac has had many games where he hasn't had First
- 1:42:26Speaker 6: of all, he had no games. They didn't have Stevenson,
- 1:42:28Speaker 6: and that's the number one weapon that they have. He
- 1:42:32Speaker 6: didn't play the first month of the season without Born,
- 1:42:36Speaker 6: you know. I mean, I could say Douglas wasn't really
- 1:42:39Speaker 6: a huge part, you know, early in the season because
- 1:42:42Speaker 6: he wasn't ready yet and all that. But I think
- 1:42:45Speaker 6: Zappi's performance, given what he had, was probably more impressive
- 1:42:48Speaker 6: than anything.
- 1:42:49Speaker 1: We kind of we've kind of overlooked Zeke in this game.
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: I mean, he was instrumental in in this game.
- 1:42:55Speaker 6: Tackle right, yeah, I mean just really got to give
- 1:42:59Speaker 6: it up from the tackle. But like you know, they
- 1:43:02Speaker 6: caught making a tackle on a change of possession.
- 1:43:04Speaker 3: They kept on, they kept on blitzing off the ball
- 1:43:08Speaker 3: and then dropping the edges and they caught t J.
- 1:43:11Speaker 3: Watt and Highsmith and coverage a couple of times.
- 1:43:13Speaker 1: I was just like, what, by the way, is there
- 1:43:16Speaker 1: any doubt that t J. Watt played that whole game
- 1:43:18Speaker 1: with a concussion.
- 1:43:19Speaker 3: It's another factor in the game. But you know, like
- 1:43:22Speaker 3: he was a show. I know, he still was wrecking the.
- 1:43:25Speaker 1: Running game, but he took a vicious hit to the
- 1:43:28Speaker 1: head with Trent.
- 1:43:29Speaker 6: Brown sixty sixty in Trent sixty Trent forty for McDermott.
- 1:43:35Speaker 1: You know, like there's no there's no doubt he had
- 1:43:38Speaker 1: a concussion and he was just playing out. I would agree,
- 1:43:41Speaker 1: you know, pure instinct, I would agree that.
- 1:43:43Speaker 6: Was probably supposedly he was evaluated. So you wonder what
- 1:43:46Speaker 6: the evaluation is all about there.
- 1:43:48Speaker 3: But and they put on a dark visor, right, Mike
- 1:43:51Speaker 3: and Mike, Mike and I going, I wonder what that's
- 1:43:54Speaker 3: for you?
- 1:43:54Speaker 7: To play the rest of the game in a dark run,
- 1:43:56Speaker 7: and he's.
- 1:43:57Speaker 3: Still every time they pulled to his side, he was
- 1:43:59Speaker 3: still ten.
- 1:43:59Speaker 6: Yeah, hey at the end of the third quarter, just
- 1:44:01Speaker 6: this week, can you be a doll and not play
- 1:44:03Speaker 6: renegade the loud noises? Really, if there's anyone that bothered
- 1:44:06Speaker 6: my head.
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: That could you know, pass a concussion test when he
- 1:44:08Speaker 1: has a concussion, that's a guy like teaching.
- 1:44:11Speaker 7: Also, that's why they do baseline taste.
- 1:44:13Speaker 3: Let's just you know, play you know, long trap tackle,
- 1:44:16Speaker 3: pull to DJ wattside. Come back to me Bill O'Brien, like,
- 1:44:18Speaker 3: what what are we what are we pulling to TJ
- 1:44:21Speaker 3: watts side? For it the run game play.
- 1:44:24Speaker 1: But I would say that Bill O'Brien had a good game.
- 1:44:27Speaker 3: In the passing game, shure.
- 1:44:28Speaker 6: Yeah, he had a good start to the game. I mean,
- 1:44:30Speaker 6: they had eighty four yards and three first downs in
- 1:44:33Speaker 6: the second half.
- 1:44:34Speaker 1: Well they took them, you know, pedal off the metal.
- 1:44:37Speaker 3: No, they went back to calling bad plays.
- 1:44:42Speaker 1: Well, they went conservative, Fred, observative Fred.
- 1:44:49Speaker 6: What they did didn't work.
- 1:44:51Speaker 10: I don't care.
- 1:44:51Speaker 1: Like, well, when you don't have talent, every every every
- 1:44:54Speaker 1: coaching decision becomes a bad one. You know, if guys
- 1:44:57Speaker 1: can't execute, you know.
- 1:44:59Speaker 3: I think a big part of this game, honestly, was
- 1:45:01Speaker 3: that Juju finally looked like the guy that they signed
- 1:45:03Speaker 3: in March. You Like, that was a huge part of
- 1:45:06Speaker 3: it too. And I've been clamoring like the throw that
- 1:45:08Speaker 3: Zappi made on the play action pass, just the crosser
- 1:45:11Speaker 3: over the middle of Juju cut up. Yeah, Like he's
- 1:45:14Speaker 3: not He's not wide open by any means. He's pretty covered.
- 1:45:17Speaker 3: But like, Juju is a big, physical guy that can
- 1:45:20Speaker 3: box out at the catchpoint and make some of those
- 1:45:22Speaker 3: tougher catches. And they just haven't had a quarterback that's
- 1:45:25Speaker 3: had the confidence sit and rip it.
- 1:45:29Speaker 10: Throw.
- 1:45:30Speaker 1: Yeah, spian Fresno has the needle moved as to whether
- 1:45:35Speaker 1: Zappi is your backup quarterback next year. Maybe a little,
- 1:45:38Speaker 1: but it seems like a big fat Maybe to me,
- 1:45:41Speaker 1: he's three and one as a starter, but one in
- 1:45:43Speaker 1: three in his last four halves. Anyway, how concerned are
- 1:45:46Speaker 1: you about the Patriots winning their way out of a
- 1:45:48Speaker 1: top five pick, or even out of the top ten,
- 1:45:51Speaker 1: as Paul would say, I'm scared.
- 1:45:53Speaker 10: A top ten.
- 1:45:55Speaker 4: I'm not scared.
- 1:45:56Speaker 3: I'm not even remotely even thinking about that as a possibility.
- 1:45:59Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:45:59Speaker 3: I also just feel like we operate with the draft
- 1:46:03Speaker 3: under the the Bill prism of like we could never
- 1:46:06Speaker 3: possibly trade up in a draft like that would never happen,
- 1:46:09Speaker 3: and so like fans are freaking out over being like
- 1:46:13Speaker 3: two versus being five or something like that. It's like
- 1:46:16Speaker 3: any other normal organization would just trade up and draft
- 1:46:19Speaker 3: the quarterback. So I don't worry about it. But at
- 1:46:21Speaker 3: the same time, I guess if it Mike gets his
- 1:46:23Speaker 3: wish and Bill's back, then they are gonna have to It's.
- 1:46:26Speaker 7: Going to become a thing. Uh well, but everybody's saying
- 1:46:29Speaker 7: I can make it like like like that that somebody's
- 1:46:32Speaker 7: going to trade up to one to get the quarterback.
- 1:46:33Speaker 7: I mean, everybody's kind of talking about that.
- 1:46:35Speaker 10: You know.
- 1:46:35Speaker 6: I think that's a huge I think that's a huge call.
- 1:46:39Speaker 6: For Chicago, Like, first of all, do they stick with
- 1:46:42Speaker 6: polls in ebra Flus? So, however you pronounce his name
- 1:46:45Speaker 6: ebra Flus. If they stick with that, do they decide
- 1:46:49Speaker 6: to roll the dice and do the Giants thing with
- 1:46:51Speaker 6: Justin Fields, who has played better lately, but still he's
- 1:46:56Speaker 6: still got a terrible record. I just still turns the
- 1:46:59Speaker 6: ball over when you put justin if you trade him.
- 1:47:02Speaker 3: I don't know, because but if you put Justin Fields
- 1:47:04Speaker 3: in this draft class, I think that he's probably the
- 1:47:09Speaker 3: second best quarterback in the class. Like just Justin Field's
- 1:47:12Speaker 3: coming out of Ohio State versus the guys. Now, I'd
- 1:47:16Speaker 3: still probably put Caleb ahead of him, But like, he's
- 1:47:19Speaker 3: a really talented I like him a lot.
- 1:47:22Speaker 6: I think he is getting better, but I think he's
- 1:47:24Speaker 6: still You know what what is me most about him
- 1:47:27Speaker 6: is how much he fumbles. I can't believe how many
- 1:47:29Speaker 6: times he fumbles. And for a guy who runs as
- 1:47:32Speaker 6: much as he does, you can't fumble like that. I
- 1:47:35Speaker 6: don't know, but might don't you talk into the mic.
- 1:47:37Speaker 4: So how much of his lack of success is his coaching?
- 1:47:42Speaker 6: I think that's a big part of it.
- 1:47:43Speaker 7: Maybe you just change the coaches keep the players try
- 1:47:46Speaker 7: to get.
- 1:47:48Speaker 6: But how about so you because then you have DJ Morian,
- 1:47:51Speaker 6: you trade so you trade down at one because you decide,
- 1:47:55Speaker 6: I'm gonna roll the dice. I'm gonna stick with Justin Field.
- 1:47:57Speaker 6: You trade down at one. So let's say you get
- 1:48:00Speaker 6: I don't know, four, okay, plus whatever else you're going
- 1:48:04Speaker 6: to get for that you're not just swipping, you know,
- 1:48:07Speaker 6: switching spots from four to one. So let's say you
- 1:48:09Speaker 6: get four plus a first round pick maybe next year,
- 1:48:13Speaker 6: plus a second round pick this year that'll be at
- 1:48:15Speaker 6: the top of the second round, you know whatever, just spitballing,
- 1:48:18Speaker 6: you get Marvin Harrison, and then your own pick is
- 1:48:21Speaker 6: going to be what eight?
- 1:48:22Speaker 3: Yes, well they're five right now, They're five right now?
- 1:48:26Speaker 6: Okay, So let's just say it's like, you know, somewhere
- 1:48:28Speaker 6: between five and ten, right, you know, I get a tackle,
- 1:48:33Speaker 6: so maybe the guy doesn't have to run for his
- 1:48:35Speaker 6: life all the time, prosper you know, there there were
- 1:48:39Speaker 6: worse positions to be in.
- 1:48:40Speaker 3: I think Chicago's only argument from is resetting the clock
- 1:48:44Speaker 3: on the on the rookie contract. But even because you're
- 1:48:47Speaker 3: going into year four now at Justin Fields.
- 1:48:49Speaker 6: Yea you're gonna get Daniel Jones.
- 1:48:50Speaker 3: You're going to have to pay him at some point,
- 1:48:52Speaker 3: and he's probably going to be at least in the
- 1:48:55Speaker 3: starting quarterback tier. He's not going to be fifty million
- 1:48:58Speaker 3: dollars a year, but he's probably to be in the
- 1:49:00Speaker 3: twenty five to thirty million dollars a year range. And right,
- 1:49:03Speaker 3: so that's the only argument.
- 1:49:05Speaker 6: That's a guy you can franchise. Yeah, you know it's
- 1:49:08Speaker 6: a lot, but you know, I want to give me
- 1:49:13Speaker 6: if he shows the the promise.
- 1:49:15Speaker 1: Joe and Warwick, New York. A message to the people
- 1:49:17Speaker 1: who are worried that winning a few games may mess
- 1:49:20Speaker 1: up our position in the draft. Enjoy the games we win.
- 1:49:23Speaker 1: If we drop a few spots in the draft, it
- 1:49:26Speaker 1: will just mean we'll trade down for two second round
- 1:49:28Speaker 1: picks in the future first compared to three second round
- 1:49:31Speaker 1: picks in the future first round.
- 1:49:33Speaker 6: I know he's making making in front of Bill Belichick,
- 1:49:36Speaker 6: who probably will not be around to do that trade.
- 1:49:38Speaker 3: But if the Patriots have less Another concern, right, is
- 1:49:42Speaker 3: that if the Patriots have the second overall pick and
- 1:49:44Speaker 3: Bill is the one picking, he's trading down all day,
- 1:49:46Speaker 3: every single day, and he'll they'll make the argument that
- 1:49:49Speaker 3: they now they have this, you know, whole war chest
- 1:49:53Speaker 3: of picks that mean nothing until you turn them into players,
- 1:49:56Speaker 3: and they would definitely definitely be traded Shad in Atlanta.
- 1:50:00Speaker 1: I honestly don't know what to think anymore. Is it
- 1:50:04Speaker 1: unrealistic at this point to hope for a top three pick?
- 1:50:07Speaker 1: Since playing hard for the coach and players players feeling
- 1:50:10Speaker 1: good after a win seems more important than the future
- 1:50:13Speaker 1: of this team. I'm sure that someone is going to
- 1:50:16Speaker 1: chime in with what do you.
- 1:50:17Speaker 6: Expect them to do?
- 1:50:18Speaker 1: And to that, I will just say, Bill, a genius,
- 1:50:21Speaker 1: someone known for skirting the rules could find a way
- 1:50:24Speaker 1: to keep them in the top three if you want it.
- 1:50:26Speaker 6: But what, I don't know why people are so worried
- 1:50:28Speaker 6: about falling out of the top three.
- 1:50:29Speaker 3: But I also just like, what do you want them
- 1:50:31Speaker 3: to do?
- 1:50:32Speaker 6: Like do you want?
- 1:50:32Speaker 10: Right?
- 1:50:33Speaker 6: But he wants them to clearly he wants them to
- 1:50:35Speaker 6: not try. But again like this is but I don't
- 1:50:39Speaker 6: I don't know why it doesn't behoove anybody on the
- 1:50:42Speaker 6: roster that is currently on the team to not try.
- 1:50:46Speaker 6: They are playing for jobs in the NFL. Don't bring
- 1:50:49Speaker 6: logic to the office.
- 1:50:50Speaker 3: So like, whether it's for this year, or it's next year,
- 1:50:53Speaker 3: or it's for free agency or whatever it is, they
- 1:50:56Speaker 3: have to put good film out there so that other
- 1:50:59Speaker 3: teams will employ.
- 1:51:00Speaker 6: Way would you put their their performance on Thursday in
- 1:51:03Speaker 6: Pittsburgh independent of the other team. Just tell me what
- 1:51:07Speaker 6: you think. Rate the Patriots performance in comparison to the
- 1:51:11Speaker 6: other twelve games. How would you say the Patriots played Thursday?
- 1:51:17Speaker 7: I mean, like, rank it or I mean I don't.
- 1:51:19Speaker 7: I just feel like things came together, they got a
- 1:51:21Speaker 7: great You.
- 1:51:22Speaker 6: Think that was a middling performance for the twenty twenty
- 1:51:24Speaker 6: three Patriots. They've played seven games better than that.
- 1:51:28Speaker 7: I would say, well, yeah, that's good.
- 1:51:30Speaker 6: Okay, I think it's the second best game I saw
- 1:51:32Speaker 6: them play all year.
- 1:51:33Speaker 10: Behind.
- 1:51:33Speaker 4: Yeah, I was gonna say bills and then you got
- 1:51:35Speaker 4: to you got to.
- 1:51:35Speaker 1: Take first half, but not second half.
- 1:51:37Speaker 6: Yeah, but I'm just taking the game in balance.
- 1:51:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:51:40Speaker 6: I thought the defense, you know, came up with two
- 1:51:42Speaker 6: stops when only a field goal would have tied it.
- 1:51:45Speaker 6: They came up with two fourth down stops. I thought
- 1:51:48Speaker 6: they put three touchdowns on the board in the first half,
- 1:51:50Speaker 6: which they haven't really done three touchdowns in games very often.
- 1:51:54Speaker 6: I thought it was the second best game they played
- 1:51:55Speaker 6: all year.
- 1:51:56Speaker 3: I think that's fair.
- 1:51:56Speaker 6: The other team was asleep, to Fred's point, was a
- 1:51:59Speaker 6: sleep and they won by three. And if the other
- 1:52:04Speaker 6: team had a quarterback and could make a throw, not
- 1:52:06Speaker 6: an easy throw, but a throw, you might not even
- 1:52:09Speaker 6: have done that. On the last fourth down of the play,
- 1:52:11Speaker 6: which by the way, was an asinine call with that
- 1:52:14Speaker 6: quarterback asking him to throw deep to Deontay Johnson on
- 1:52:17Speaker 6: that play was ridiculous.
- 1:52:19Speaker 4: Wasn't that a fourth and two?
- 1:52:20Speaker 3: Fourth and two?
- 1:52:22Speaker 1: That's one of those like, oh boy, look at the
- 1:52:25Speaker 1: you know, the I don't want to say it because
- 1:52:26Speaker 1: we're in mixed company.
- 1:52:28Speaker 3: Look at the courage that they have to do that,
- 1:52:30Speaker 3: you know, testicular fortitude. So I just looked at I
- 1:52:34Speaker 3: don't design on that play was putrid.
- 1:52:36Speaker 17: It was.
- 1:52:37Speaker 10: It was terrible.
- 1:52:37Speaker 6: It was terrible in every way.
- 1:52:39Speaker 3: But I just don't know why.
- 1:52:41Speaker 6: I don't did everybody think they were going two and fifteen,
- 1:52:44Speaker 6: because like, they won a game, and now everybody's like,
- 1:52:46Speaker 6: what happens if we fall out of the top ten.
- 1:52:48Speaker 1: But at this time in this like, no, you didn't
- 1:52:50Speaker 1: think overall, but at this time of the season. You
- 1:52:52Speaker 1: could see you could.
- 1:52:54Speaker 3: I didn't.
- 1:52:55Speaker 6: I didn't pick him to win.
- 1:52:55Speaker 1: Thee fell apart, and they're not falling apart. Sergio and California.
- 1:53:02Speaker 6: Coach is leaving a month before the season's over. It's close.
- 1:53:06Speaker 3: We don't even talk about that.
- 1:53:09Speaker 1: Serio and California rights in short sighted, irrelevant when without purpose,
- 1:53:14Speaker 1: suicide for future draft for a franchise quarterback, absolutely short sighted.
- 1:53:18Speaker 1: If they continue with this stupidity, many years of purgatory coming.
- 1:53:23Speaker 3: Okay, let's I think there was a little tongue in cheek, right,
- 1:53:26Speaker 3: Can we talk about that, the Ross Douglas thing, because
- 1:53:28Speaker 3: I think that's way more interesting than that. The Ross
- 1:53:32Speaker 3: Douglas thing is is interesting to me because it does
- 1:53:35Speaker 3: feel a little titanicy, right, like we're just.
- 1:53:37Speaker 7: I didn't remember that. I mean, you guys would know
- 1:53:39Speaker 7: better than me. I don't remember a coach ever leave
- 1:53:40Speaker 7: in the middle Patriots.
- 1:53:42Speaker 1: Has he left?
- 1:53:43Speaker 3: Yeah, he's gone.
- 1:53:45Speaker 5: But you said you've never heard of, you know, a
- 1:53:47Speaker 5: coach doing that for the Patriots. Yeah, for the Patriots,
- 1:53:49Speaker 5: there's been no need to be looking for a new job.
- 1:53:51Speaker 5: I mean he's getting it.
- 1:53:52Speaker 6: Oh No, They've had a lot of guys that have
- 1:53:54Speaker 6: gotten jobs during the season. They just of state, right,
- 1:53:57Speaker 6: this is the first one that I've ever seen that
- 1:53:59Speaker 6: guy a job and left.
- 1:54:01Speaker 5: Well, they got to start recruiting transfer portals open.
- 1:54:03Speaker 4: He's got things to do. But I will say that
- 1:54:07Speaker 4: I would I wouldn't.
- 1:54:08Speaker 5: I mean, I personally would not wait until the end
- 1:54:10Speaker 5: of the season, till Black Monday to find out I
- 1:54:13Speaker 5: don't have a job anymore.
- 1:54:14Speaker 1: He could accept the job, he just doesn't leave until
- 1:54:18Speaker 1: the season.
- 1:54:19Speaker 3: He's a wide receiver coach.
- 1:54:24Speaker 6: He's not the head coach. He's not in the portal.
- 1:54:26Speaker 3: He's recruiting wide receivers.
- 1:54:28Speaker 7: Do you think that that was met with the kind
- 1:54:30Speaker 7: of pissed about that you think that I don't.
- 1:54:32Speaker 6: I'm told no, I'm told they wish him well.
- 1:54:35Speaker 3: I think they wish him well in terms of a
- 1:54:37Speaker 3: great guy.
- 1:54:37Speaker 7: I mean that's I mean, I don't.
- 1:54:39Speaker 6: I never spoken to them.
- 1:54:40Speaker 3: I don't know Troy Brown's so he spoke to Assistance
- 1:54:42Speaker 3: before we started the show here too, he wasn't available,
- 1:54:46Speaker 3: and well, yeah he's not here anymore. With Fred's question,
- 1:54:49Speaker 3: Ross Douglas is usually available for with the Assistance, and
- 1:54:52Speaker 3: he wasn't today for obvious reasons. Troy Brown did say
- 1:54:56Speaker 3: that it was unexpected though, like he said that they
- 1:54:58Speaker 3: were a little blindsided.
- 1:54:59Speaker 4: By To be fair, I would be looking for a.
- 1:55:02Speaker 6: Job like Adrian Clint did the same thing in Pittsburgh.
- 1:55:05Speaker 4: Yeah, I would be I would be looking.
- 1:55:08Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I totally agree, Tomara, I would be looking.
- 1:55:12Speaker 6: I'm not holding it against Ross Douglas professionally. I think
- 1:55:15Speaker 6: he probably sees the writing on the wall and he
- 1:55:18Speaker 6: wanted to get out in front of it. I'm just saying,
- 1:55:20Speaker 6: I just want to hesitate with the whole, Like you know,
- 1:55:24Speaker 6: Ezekiel Elliott, man, do you believe they threw an interception
- 1:55:28Speaker 6: and he tried to tackle the guy who was returning it.
- 1:55:30Speaker 6: I mean, like Ben Watson ran one hundred and twenty
- 1:55:33Speaker 6: yards to chase down Chase champ Bay when.
- 1:55:35Speaker 3: It was a touchdown, that was it. But but that
- 1:55:37Speaker 3: was but it wasn't touch it was a touchback.
- 1:55:40Speaker 6: Whatever the result of the play, that was a truly
- 1:55:44Speaker 6: special individual effort on a play that deserves to be
- 1:55:47Speaker 6: talked about in reverence the way it has been for
- 1:55:50Speaker 6: fifteen years. And Elliott was the last guy back, had
- 1:55:55Speaker 6: the angle of pursuit and made a tackle, and my god,
- 1:55:58Speaker 6: they're two and ten.
- 1:56:00Speaker 3: Do you believe he made that trackle.
- 1:56:03Speaker 7: For any Was there any room for now at the time?
- 1:56:07Speaker 5: Was there any room here for growth? I mean, was
- 1:56:09Speaker 5: he gonna be the co wide receivers coach.
- 1:56:11Speaker 3: With Troy Brown? I think that's an interesting point too,
- 1:56:13Speaker 3: because I saw a lot of people say that he's
- 1:56:16Speaker 3: it's a lateral mover, even because he's going to college.
- 1:56:18Speaker 6: He told it was not a lateral move in salary.
- 1:56:22Speaker 3: No, it wasn't a lateral move in any way because
- 1:56:24Speaker 3: he's going, first of all here he's the assistant wide
- 1:56:27Speaker 3: receivers coach. So now he's gonna go run the room
- 1:56:30Speaker 3: in Syracuse, and apparently he's also going to have some
- 1:56:32Speaker 3: input on the direction of the lisse.
- 1:56:34Speaker 1: These guys need a safety net. They're they're assuming that
- 1:56:37Speaker 1: the whole place is going to get blown up at
- 1:56:39Speaker 1: the end of the and I'm not going to have
- 1:56:41Speaker 1: a job. So if I'm giving a place to go,
- 1:56:43Speaker 1: I'm gonna take it a bird in the hands.
- 1:56:45Speaker 3: And the wider seiers have been particularly bad here, so
- 1:56:48Speaker 3: you wonder if he's looking at it and saying, even
- 1:56:50Speaker 3: if they keep bill like, is Troy gonna be here?
- 1:56:52Speaker 7: Like what was he miked up at the shrineble? Was
- 1:56:55Speaker 7: he one of the guys? Yeah, that's where I first
- 1:56:56Speaker 7: heard him, and then we talked to him. I think
- 1:56:58Speaker 7: like in the off season when they had just I mean,
- 1:56:59Speaker 7: I have had a lot of experience with him, but
- 1:57:01Speaker 7: he just you know, he's one of those guys has
- 1:57:03Speaker 7: just constant energy and just.
- 1:57:04Speaker 3: Get on all the time.
- 1:57:05Speaker 1: All right, listen, it's been fun.
- 1:57:08Speaker 7: It's been a good show.
- 1:57:09Speaker 1: But we've got it. We've got another chance to do
- 1:57:11Speaker 1: it tomorrow tomorrow at too. Will turn our attention probably
- 1:57:16Speaker 1: of the Kansas City Chiefs. Will they lose three games
- 1:57:19Speaker 1: in a row? Will they bounce back? Will the Patriots
- 1:57:23Speaker 1: win to in a row?
- 1:57:24Speaker 7: Will Taylor Swift?
- 1:57:25Speaker 5: No, Yeah, that's the biggest question. Is Taylor Swift coming?
- 1:57:28Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:57:30Speaker 5: But in bigger news, Zappie is not a Taylor Swift fan.
- 1:57:33Speaker 10: Good.
- 1:57:34Speaker 3: Yeah, somebody asked Bill O'Brien today.
- 1:57:36Speaker 1: Somebody actually had the nerve to say they weren't a
- 1:57:38Speaker 1: Tailor Swift fan. That's that takes that takes ball.
- 1:57:41Speaker 3: Say it right now, you're absolutely.
- 1:57:43Speaker 6: Right, and this cancel culture, canceled culture.
- 1:57:46Speaker 7: He likes hunting hogs.
- 1:57:47Speaker 1: Yep, all right, see you tomorrow.
