- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:29I am sorry for my raspy voice, but we have got some serious
- 0:32pollen going on and my voice is just shot from it.
- 0:36So today we are talking about measuring if something is more
- 0:41important than something else. Think of it.
- 0:43We've talked before about how I like to think of it like the
- 0:45scales of justice. But in this case we're talking
- 0:49about it in the sense of saying silly, like small little things
- 0:53in your life and how it shows up.
- 0:54So you have to make a track in your head.
- 0:58You have to burn neural pathways that will say I'm going to use
- 1:02this strategy every time I'm trying to decide on something.
- 1:05So for instance, let's say you want to eat a cinnamon bun.
- 1:09Let's say you dream about cinnamon buns.
- 1:12Let's say they are one of your most favorite things to have,
- 1:16and you treat yourself to it. You know, maybe every day, maybe
- 1:20once a week, who knows what it is.
- 1:22But you have a contrary position because you want to have a body
- 1:29that is rocking. You want your body to be just on
- 1:32point. You want to be healthy.
- 1:34You want to be that person that has the body that people go,
- 1:38wow, look at that, that that makes me want to have a body
- 1:42like that. So you've got two contrary
- 1:44ideals going on in your head, and these two contrary ideals
- 1:49are competing. So you have to come up with a
- 1:52way that will interrupt your pattern.
- 1:54Because if you don't interrupt your pattern, you're never going
- 1:56to end up with the body you want.
- 1:58You're going to end up with, you know, a a cinnamon bun body if
- 2:03you keep eating the cinnamon buns.
- 2:05So you have to think of little tricky ways to get yourself past
- 2:09what you're thinking. So for me, I start to think of
- 2:12of quirky little ways to say stuff to myself so that I can
- 2:16come up with one. But I heard one the other day
- 2:18and I had to just share it because I was like, this is so
- 2:20perfect, you know, do I want cinnamon buns or buns of steel?
- 2:25And I thought that was such a great way to put it.
- 2:27And I wrote it right down into my book immediately because I
- 2:30was like, oh, that's a good one for me to remember because I try
- 2:33to find funny little ways to make myself think about
- 2:38something. So I don't just go into reaction
- 2:40with it and say, hey, yeah, I'm going to go ahead and I'm going
- 2:44to be this way, show up this way, do this, act, whatever it
- 2:46might be. Because the weight of the
- 2:49moment, the weakness of the moment, isn't really put upon me
- 2:54in the way that I can frame it so I can get myself out of it.
- 2:58So when I hear something, do you want cinnamon buns or buns of
- 3:01steel? Like, no, I really want the buns
- 3:04of steel. Yes, I want the cinnamon buns,
- 3:05but I really want the buns of steel.
- 3:08So coming up with these little tricky ways, not so hard.
- 3:12You just sit down and you write out your list of the things that
- 3:16you know are your weaknesses around staying on track.
- 3:20So for me it it's really, really, really going around
- 3:24Mexican food. Like, I love Mexican food.
- 3:26I love chips, guacamole, queso, tacos.
- 3:31I love Mexican food a lot and treat myself typically.
- 3:36Friday night Okay is the night my son always wants to go.
- 3:40Friday night is Mexican night, So I have to ask myself when I'm
- 3:44sitting there with the menu, right, what I want and I'm like,
- 3:48do do I want legs that look like I ate too many tacos?
- 3:53So I think about it in terms of, like, my legs looking like
- 3:56tacos. I know that sounds weird, but
- 3:58that's how I think about it. Tacos are all bumpy.
- 4:00Do I want bumpy legs? No.
- 4:03So do I just get the tacos? No, I don't.
- 4:07I don't. I will.
- 4:08I will switch off. Maybe I'll have a handful of
- 4:11chips and a a bunch of guacamole, because at least the
- 4:13guacamole is very healthy. But I'll start thinking about
- 4:16things like that, and I give myself these quirky little
- 4:20visuals that help me stay on track.
- 4:23So you have to find yours, because then it's really clear
- 4:28there's no misnomers in your head.
- 4:30It's very, very clear it's listed out.
- 4:33And can they be funny? Yes.
- 4:35Can they help be painful? Like, is my Taco leg thing very
- 4:39funny? I don't know.
- 4:40But to me it's funny. So I use it.
- 4:43Just have to start thinking of things differently and framing
- 4:46them differently so that you can help yourself get out of it in
- 4:49the moment. Because it's, as Tony Robbins
- 4:51says, it's in the moments of our.
- 4:52It's in the moments of our decision that our destiny is
- 4:55shaped. And if you don't remember that,
- 4:58it's like, OK, it's every decision, does every decision
- 5:01count? Yes, yes, every decision counts.
- 5:05Because apparently Celine really agrees with that, because it it
- 5:10it's from those little tiny decisions, everything is stacked
- 5:14upon it. You know, my decisions about
- 5:17saying I want chickens might have been a very big just choice
- 5:21in the beginning, but where I bought them from really
- 5:23dictates, OK, seems like a little decision.
- 5:25They have a chicken, you want it.
- 5:27But if you don't get healthy chickens, all of a sudden you
- 5:29wake wipe out the rest of your chickens.
- 5:31You know it's all these little teeny weeny things stack upon
- 5:35each other, little tiny decisions.
- 5:38So write them all down, find out what your quirky little points
- 5:41are and run with them. All right, my friends, I hope
- 5:44you have a blessed day and I'll see you tomorrow.
- 5:46Bye.
