- 0:26Speaker 3: Tuesday.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Tuesday.
- 0:27Speaker 5: Tuesday.
- 0:29Speaker 2: Good morning.
- 0:30Speaker 6: It's Mix 102.9 on a Tuesday that definitely feels like
- 0:33Speaker 6: a Monday.
- 0:34Speaker 3: Dude, Monday is Tuesday ever.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Oh, it is. It is Monday and hard.
- 0:38Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Right now.
- 0:39Speaker 6: But welcome back. Holiday weekend, hopefully it was good. It's
- 0:42Speaker 6: Bailey the Kid. Candace Lopez is here. Producer Poo is here.
- 0:45Speaker 2: What's up, Candace?
- 0:45Speaker 7: Yeah, I'm good.
- 0:46Speaker 3: I'm good. I went down to Austin over the weekend.
- 0:48Speaker 3: We kind of pulled like a last minute, like, hey,
- 0:50Speaker 3: let's go to Austin thing. You know, it was kind
- 0:53Speaker 3: of an idea we had because there was a big
- 0:55Speaker 3: race happening down there at Circuit of the Americas. So
- 0:59Speaker 3: Enzo and Eric wanted to go. So we drove down there.
- 1:02Speaker 3: They went to the race. I hung at the hotel.
- 1:05Speaker 3: Just had a me day.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Oh, good.
- 1:07Speaker 3: Yeah, it was really nice. But we got there and
- 1:08Speaker 3: realized that we forgot Enzo's entire suitcase. So he had nothing.
- 1:14Speaker 3: He had no clothes.
- 1:15Speaker 7: He did have his toothbrush.
- 1:17Speaker 2: Little orphan Enzo.
- 1:18Speaker 3: I know because I threw his toothbrush in Eric's bag.
- 1:21Speaker 3: So thankfully, you know.
- 1:23Speaker 2: I washed me hands and face. Can I please get
- 1:25Speaker 2: some shorts?
- 1:27Speaker 1: Some undies.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Can I please get some britches?
- 1:30Speaker 3: I know. I felt so bad. He has like the
- 1:33Speaker 3: coolest suitcase ever.
- 1:34Speaker 7: It's like this Lamborghini.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Oh, so cool. Especially if it's at home.
- 1:36Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Just chilling, already packed.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Wow.
- 1:39Speaker 3: It's like when he carries this thing through the airport
- 1:42Speaker 3: or through a hotel. I mean, people just stop, and
- 1:44Speaker 3: it's just like compliments. They back out of the way,
- 1:46Speaker 3: because this is like the coolest suitcase ever. And here
- 1:48Speaker 3: he was, just nothing.
- 1:49Speaker 6: See, that would be a nightmare for me, because my
- 1:52Speaker 6: son is so picky when it comes to clothes.
- 1:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:55Speaker 6: Even at his age now, at 15, he's like me
- 1:57Speaker 6: growing up. I couldn't wear certain things, so... You had
- 1:59Speaker 6: to go get him new clothes.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Yeah. Oh.
- 2:01Speaker 3: Well, we had two anyways.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Yeah, but that would have been a nightmare. Yeah, I bet.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Does he just wear whatever?
- 2:06Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:06Speaker 3: Oh, no. He's down for whatever.
- 2:07Speaker 5: Really?
- 2:08Speaker 3: Doesn't care if his socks match. Doesn't care if his
- 2:10Speaker 3: shoes match.
- 2:11Speaker 5: Oh.
- 2:11Speaker 1: I miss that age.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Yeah. No, Ryder, my son has never been like that.
- 2:16Speaker 5: Really?
- 2:16Speaker 2: Never.
- 2:17Speaker 3: Interesting.
- 2:18Speaker 2: It's not a matter of what it looks like. It's
- 2:20Speaker 2: a matter of, he's me.
- 2:21Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:21Speaker 2: And when I was a kid, if the seams didn't
- 2:24Speaker 2: match up right and felt weird on my shoulder.
- 2:26Speaker 5: What?
- 2:26Speaker 2: I'd be like, no, I can't go to school.
- 2:28Speaker 3: Wow.
- 2:29Speaker 2: It was so bad. I'm so particular about what I,
- 2:32Speaker 2: not so much anymore, obviously, look at me.
- 2:34Speaker 4: Right.
- 2:35Speaker 6: But back in the day when I was a kid, oh,
- 2:37Speaker 6: my mom and I used to go through it.
- 2:39Speaker 2: Aw. Yeah.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Well.
- 2:40Speaker 3: Yeah, luckily we don't have that problem.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Oh, good. Yeah, because that would make it hard.
- 2:43Speaker 3: No, we hit up Target and just got him whatever
- 2:45Speaker 3: was there.
- 2:45Speaker 5: You did.
- 2:46Speaker 3: He was totally fine. Got him a new swimsuit.
- 2:48Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:48Speaker 2: Oh, good for you. Yeah. See, sometimes that's kind of fun. Yeah.
- 2:51Speaker 5: Spontaneous.
- 2:52Speaker 2: Spontaneous.
- 2:53Speaker 3: Yeah, it made things less stressful.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Well, good, Candace. I'm glad you had a good weekend, hopefully.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Producer Poo is here. What's up, Poo?
- 2:59Speaker 1: I'm struggling. I tried to get out there yesterday with
- 3:02Speaker 1: my little cousin and my son and play football with
- 3:05Speaker 1: all their friends.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Oh. Oh, yeah.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Oh, man.
- 3:09Speaker 2: What do you mean? Were you all-time quarterback? Yeah.
- 3:11Speaker 1: I was all-time quarterback.
- 3:12Speaker 2: I'm all-time waterboy.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Yeah, but I got rushed and I took off running.
- 3:17Speaker 1: And the kid tried to touch me.
- 3:18Speaker 5: Hold on.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Yeah, I know.
- 3:20Speaker 2: Wait a minute. Hold on. You took off running? Yeah.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Or did you just try to run?
- 3:27Speaker 1: Five minutes to sip at me. And I took off running.
- 3:30Speaker 1: I was like, I'm out.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:32Speaker 1: And he tried to touch me. But he ended up
- 3:34Speaker 1: pushing me, and I stopped, dropped, and rolled, and I
- 3:37Speaker 1: rolled forever.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Oh, we know.
- 3:39Speaker 5: Oh, man.
- 3:39Speaker 2: That was a lot of momentum. You rolled home?
- 3:43Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:43Speaker 2: Sometimes, like, you know, I don't want to say Pooh's
- 3:45Speaker 2: not athletic, but how do I say it?
- 3:48Speaker 1: I struggle.
- 3:49Speaker 2: He's not very nimble.
- 3:50Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:52Speaker 6: So, like, once the energy, you know, the momentum goes,
- 3:54Speaker 6: it's like a train.
- 3:56Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 3:58Speaker 3: Okay.
- 3:58Speaker 2: It's kind of hard to stop. Yeah.
- 4:00Speaker 3: Remember when he was on roller skates? Yeah. And he
- 4:04Speaker 3: came around the corner of the office and just held
- 4:06Speaker 3: on to the wall?
- 4:08Speaker 8: I mean.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Do I have to remember?
- 4:10Speaker 2: Do I have to remember?
- 4:11Speaker 1: Jack be quick.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Do I have to remember when he was on roller skates?
- 4:15Speaker 3: He was fairly fast in a straight line.
- 4:17Speaker 2: No.
- 4:17Speaker 3: But making that turn.
- 4:18Speaker 5: Woo.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Yeah, that turn. Well, he's not that he's the slowest guy.
- 4:21Speaker 2: He just can't stop.
- 4:22Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 4:22Speaker 2: Yeah. It's like a boat. They don't have any brakes.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Okay.
- 4:26Speaker 2: Who has no brakes?
- 4:28Speaker 3: That's a good point.
- 4:29Speaker 2: You just got to slow down.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Hang on to the wall.
- 4:32Speaker 6: The momentum will take you for a while. So on
- 4:34Speaker 6: a scale from 1 to 10, how bad is your
- 4:35Speaker 6: back hurt today?
- 4:36Speaker 1: Oh, icy hot bad.
- 4:38Speaker 3: Oh, no.
- 4:38Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Icy hot or Bengay? You're more of a Bengay guy.
- 4:41Speaker 1: No, I did the icy hot patch. No, he didn't
- 4:43Speaker 1: say that.
- 4:46Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 4:47Speaker 6: Like, you know, certain old people just smell like mothballs
- 4:50Speaker 6: and Bengay.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. That's brutal.
- 4:53Speaker 1: I'm not at that level. I just got the little
- 4:55Speaker 1: icy hot patch.
- 4:56Speaker 8: Oh, good.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Yeah, so.
- 4:58Speaker 3: All right.
- 4:58Speaker 1: I'm on the struggle. How was your weekend?
- 5:00Speaker 2: Oh, it was good.
- 5:02Speaker 1: You know what?
- 5:02Speaker 6: It wasn't too bad. Friday night, I was in Aledo
- 5:05Speaker 6: for the game.
- 5:06Speaker 2: Bearcats. Shout out to them. They lost, though.
- 5:09Speaker 3: Oh.
- 5:10Speaker 2: That was tough. I will say this.
- 5:12Speaker 6: I had one of the best new things, and I
- 5:13Speaker 6: don't know why it's taken me so long to go
- 5:16Speaker 6: to this place, because I've passed it a million times,
- 5:18Speaker 6: and I've never been.
- 5:18Speaker 2: Have you ever been to Old South Pancake House?
- 5:21Speaker 3: No.
- 5:23Speaker 2: Woo!
- 5:23Speaker 1: Where is that?
- 5:24Speaker 5: Really?
- 5:24Speaker 3: You know, pancakes are my favorite food.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Let me tell you.
- 5:27Speaker 2: Old South. It's in Fort Worth, and there's also one,
- 5:30Speaker 2: I think, in Burleson. Okay.
- 5:32Speaker 5: Okay.
- 5:32Speaker 2: I mean, this place has been around forever. I don't
- 5:33Speaker 2: know why I passed it a million times. It's not
- 5:35Speaker 2: a university.
- 5:35Speaker 5: Is it?
- 5:36Speaker 3: Yeah, near TCU?
- 5:37Speaker 9: Yes.
- 5:37Speaker 7: Oh, I have passed it before, but never gone in.
- 5:40Speaker 2: It looks like it came out straight from 1900.
- 5:42Speaker 1: Ooh.
- 5:43Speaker 3: Really?
- 5:44Speaker 2: And that's how I knew it was going to be good.
- 5:46Speaker 2: Went there yesterday for breakfast. Oh, my God. I've never
- 5:50Speaker 2: had a German pancake before. Oh.
- 5:53Speaker 1: What's a German pancake? I don't know.
- 5:55Speaker 2: It is so good. They make it like table side.
- 5:58Speaker 2: They fix it up for you.
- 6:00Speaker 5: What?
- 6:00Speaker 6: So they bring it out. And I know people are listening.
- 6:02Speaker 6: If you've had it, you already know. You're like, I
- 6:03Speaker 6: can't believe he's never been there.
- 6:04Speaker 2: I know. But they literally bring it out to your table.
- 6:07Speaker 5: Okay.
- 6:08Speaker 2: They squeeze fresh lemon on it. I know. And it
- 6:11Speaker 2: doesn't sound like that's going to be good. But it's incredible.
- 6:14Speaker 3: Okay.
- 6:15Speaker 6: It's like a German pancake. There's fresh lemon, some blueberries
- 6:18Speaker 6: on it, some sugar, syrup. And then they fold it up.
- 6:21Speaker 6: And it is like the best tasting thing I've had
- 6:24Speaker 6: in a long time.
- 6:25Speaker 2: Long time.
- 6:26Speaker 3: Are German pancakes like fluffier or thicker?
- 6:29Speaker 2: Yeah. Okay. They're kind of like eggy. Oh, yeah. Not
- 6:33Speaker 2: so much, you know, pancake-y, almost eggy.
- 6:35Speaker 5: Okay.
- 6:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I like that. Is eggy a word?
- 6:37Speaker 3: Yeah, no, for sure.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Teach your eggies.
- 6:40Speaker 2: Either way, shout out to that place. All right.
- 6:43Speaker 5: Good tip.
- 6:45Speaker 2: Texas Top Stories on the 10s with Billy the Kid
- 6:47Speaker 2: in the Morning.
- 6:48Speaker 5: Only on the new Mix 102.9. I know the.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Struggle is real after a holiday weekend. You got this.
- 6:54Speaker 2: It's bright. It's early. It's not bright yet.
- 6:56Speaker 5: No.
- 6:56Speaker 2: Actually, the sun's coming up late. Super dark. It's dark,
- 7:00Speaker 2: but it's going to get bright. There's my motivation for
- 7:02Speaker 2: the day, Candice. I like it. What's going on, Candice?
- 7:06Speaker 3: Well, a heat advisory continues today until 8 p.m. We've
- 7:10Speaker 3: been under this since Sunday. Our high today is going
- 7:12Speaker 3: to be 101. So same story this week. No relief
- 7:15Speaker 3: in sight. This is getting really old.
- 7:17Speaker 6: I think they said that the record we have for
- 7:20Speaker 6: September is like four days over 100.
- 7:22Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 7:22Speaker 2: And we're... Or no, eight days over 100, and we're
- 7:25Speaker 2: already at like four or five.
- 7:26Speaker 3: Yeah, we're probably this week, we'll probably beat that record. Yeah,
- 7:29Speaker 3: I think like six driest summer on record or something
- 7:33Speaker 3: like that. But keep your fingers crossed. Just keep going.
- 7:37Speaker 3: It's September 8th.
- 7:38Speaker 2: I don't know, guys. Real funny.
- 7:39Speaker 5: What?
- 7:40Speaker 2: Keep my fingers crossed. Wow, Candace. My hand's broken.
- 7:43Speaker 7: Oh, my gosh. You have your fingers.
- 7:45Speaker 3: You can cross your fingers. I can't cross them. Not
- 7:47Speaker 3: on that hand.
- 7:47Speaker 2: Okay, well, then I can't run the controls. Use your pinky.
- 7:51Speaker 2: I feel attacked. Go ahead.
- 7:53Speaker 3: Oh, my gosh. Fall's coming. It's coming. I promise. AT &
- 7:56Speaker 3: T Internet Service is operating normally again after a major
- 8:00Speaker 3: fiber outage affected the Dallas area yesterday. Thousands of customers
- 8:04Speaker 3: may qualify for a bill credit because of this. I
- 8:07Speaker 3: know people trying to work yesterday. Unfortunately, we're having issues.
- 8:12Speaker 3: educators were saying i can't get together my programs for
- 8:15Speaker 3: tuesday because i have no internet no phone massive it
- 8:19Speaker 3: was down for a while yeah yeah uh back normally
- 8:22Speaker 3: though so back to school back to work today uh
- 8:25Speaker 3: guys tsa is launching a pilot program called gateside by
- 8:29Speaker 3: tsa pre-check it's going to allow approved guests in airports
- 8:33Speaker 3: who are not traveling to pass through security so 13
- 8:37Speaker 3: airports will be part of this including dfw airport so
- 8:41Speaker 3: you would basically Apply through TSA and get a gateside pass.
- 8:45Speaker 3: You would have to do this one to three days
- 8:47Speaker 3: before you need it. They're not going to allow this
- 8:49Speaker 3: during busy times like holiday travel seasons, but it will
- 8:53Speaker 3: help with kids flying and elderly passengers, something they did
- 8:56Speaker 3: away with.
- 8:57Speaker 2: A while back. Yeah, but you can do that anyway
- 8:59Speaker 2: with kids.
- 8:59Speaker 3: Well, yeah, but I think for multiple people, if they
- 9:02Speaker 3: need families and things like that, you'll be able to
- 9:04Speaker 3: get through the gate. Yeah, I think it's important.
- 9:08Speaker 2: I've kind of liked it.
- 9:09Speaker 3: You've liked not having it?
- 9:10Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 9:11Speaker 3: Because less people?
- 9:12Speaker 6: Less pressure to go in and hang out in the airport.
- 9:15Speaker 6: I'll just drop you off. Back in the day, remember
- 9:16Speaker 6: back in the day, we used to literally, hey, you want.
- 9:18Speaker 2: To come in and wait with me? Sure.
- 9:20Speaker 5: Right.
- 9:20Speaker 2: But I felt obligated. Now it's like, no, I have
- 9:22Speaker 2: to drop you off. I can't stop.
- 9:23Speaker 9: Right.
- 9:24Speaker 3: You maniac. Yeah, I can't even park here.
- 9:26Speaker 1: What are you talking about?
- 9:27Speaker 2: I ain't trying to stay.
- 9:28Speaker 3: It's the 1900s.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Can't go to your gate.
- 9:30Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly. Guys, real quick, Costco's new Halloween treat is
- 9:34Speaker 3: going viral this morning. I don't know if you guys
- 9:36Speaker 3: saw this, but they're selling a giant chocolate Frankenstein head.
- 9:41Speaker 3: It weighs about five and a half pounds. It comes
- 9:43Speaker 3: stuffed with a pound of gummy candies.
- 9:47Speaker 7: And then it also comes.
- 9:48Speaker 3: With a small mallet so you can smash the head
- 9:50Speaker 3: open and get the gummy candies out.
- 9:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:53Speaker 3: So it's selling for fifty five dollars at Costco, but
- 9:56Speaker 3: it's going viral. I'm seeing it in my feed and
- 9:58Speaker 3: it's just like people holding up this giant. green Frankenstein head.
- 10:01Speaker 2: So it's a giant chocolate head with gummies in it. Yes. Yeah,
- 10:05Speaker 2: I want one.
- 10:05Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:07Speaker 3: They're saying it's not really like for trick or treating.
- 10:09Speaker 3: It's more for like the party vibe or people who
- 10:11Speaker 3: just want to have it as a centerpiece.
- 10:12Speaker 2: It's like a Frankenstein pinata. Yes. So you just smash
- 10:16Speaker 2: it and get the gummies out.
- 10:17Speaker 5: Right.
- 10:17Speaker 7: It comes with a mallet.
- 10:19Speaker 3: But I think everyone's just trying to outdo themselves.
- 10:22Speaker 2: You know it's going to be good when it comes
- 10:24Speaker 2: with a mallet.
- 10:24Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 10:24Speaker 3: You need a tool to bust it open.
- 10:26Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 10:27Speaker 2: It's like that thing in Uncle Julio's. You ever eat
- 10:29Speaker 2: that thing at Uncle Julio's?
- 10:31Speaker 5: No.
- 10:31Speaker 6: It's like a chocolate dessert. It like hangs over. They
- 10:34Speaker 6: bring it out and it like hangs. Then you smash
- 10:36Speaker 6: it and it falls down.
- 10:38Speaker 5: Oh, no.
- 10:38Speaker 3: I've never seen that.
- 10:39Speaker 2: Guess I'm the only fat guy that gets dessert at
- 10:41Speaker 2: Uncle Julio's.
- 10:42Speaker 3: No, I definitely want that.
- 10:43Speaker 7: Like the lava cakes.
- 10:45Speaker 3: You smash them open and then the chocolate comes down
- 10:47Speaker 3: like lava.
- 10:48Speaker 2: It's pretty much like that. I think it's at Uncle Julio's.
- 10:50Speaker 5: Okay.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Either way. It's good, though.
- 10:52Speaker 3: Good to know.
- 10:52Speaker 2: Okay. Can I go get a Frankenstein head today, then?
- 10:54Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 10:54Speaker 3: Go to Costco.
- 10:56Speaker 2: I'm not a member.
- 10:57Speaker 3: You're not? Who are you a member?
- 10:58Speaker 1: No, I used to be. I went to Sam's.
- 11:00Speaker 3: Okay.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Oh, wow.
- 11:03Speaker 3: Sam's Club.
- 11:03Speaker 2: Represent.
- 11:05Speaker 5: All right.
- 11:06Speaker 3: I'm Candace Lopez. Those are your Texas Top Stories.
- 11:09Speaker 6: It's Mix 102.9. Good morning. Billy the Kid, Candace Lopez
- 11:12Speaker 6: is here. Producer Poo is here. We have Usher and
- 11:14Speaker 6: Chris Brown. Tickets all day. So many chances to win
- 11:17Speaker 6: those on the 10s pretty much every hour all day.
- 11:19Speaker 6: So make sure you listen. We have a dirty little
- 11:21Speaker 6: secret at 730. We got a lot going on on
- 11:23Speaker 6: a Tuesday that feels like a Monday.
- 11:24Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:25Speaker 2: There's a lot. Yeah, and these tickets to Fort Worth
- 11:27Speaker 2: Stock Show and Rodeo, which I can't believe Candace Lopez
- 11:29Speaker 2: has never been.
- 11:30Speaker 4: I know.
- 11:30Speaker 3: I just, I don't know why.
- 11:32Speaker 2: It's like me never going to Cracker Barrel. I've never
- 11:34Speaker 2: been to Cracker Barrel in my life.
- 11:35Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 11:35Speaker 2: It's one of those things you're like, how?
- 11:36Speaker 7: We're going to change that, too.
- 11:37Speaker 2: Well, we're going to do both in one day.
- 11:39Speaker 3: Oh, perfect.
- 11:39Speaker 7: That's a good day.
- 11:41Speaker 2: We're going to Cracker Barrel up, and then we're going
- 11:43Speaker 2: to the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo. Okay. We're
- 11:45Speaker 2: going to milk some goats.
- 11:47Speaker 5: Never done that.
- 11:48Speaker 2: Because I've been practicing.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Oh, good.
- 11:51Speaker 2: I'm never losing another milking race or whatever that's called. Oh, yeah.
- 11:55Speaker 2: I've been practicing on poo.
- 11:58Speaker 3: Oh, my gosh.
- 11:59Speaker 1: You can milk poo.
- 12:00Speaker 5: Oh, boy.
- 12:02Speaker 2: All right, let's do it. You didn't think you were
- 12:03Speaker 2: going to hear that this morning.
- 12:04Speaker 5: No.
- 12:05Speaker 2: By the way, it's just a joke. I haven't really practiced.
- 12:07Speaker 2: All right, let's hook you up. Who's this?
- 12:09Speaker 1: Tabitha.
- 12:10Speaker 2: Tabitha, what's up? How are you? I'm good. I'm fixing
- 12:14Speaker 2: to get off work. Off work? What do you do?
- 12:16Speaker 8: I deliver parcels.
- 12:19Speaker 5: Oh, okay.
- 12:19Speaker 2: So you worked that third shift. Well, good. I'm glad
- 12:21Speaker 2: you're getting off because you can enjoy this win. You're
- 12:23Speaker 2: calling number one. Congratulations.
- 12:25Speaker 9: Yes, I love winning.
- 12:29Speaker 1: Me too.
- 12:29Speaker 2: Quote of the day. I love winning too. Well, good.
- 12:32Speaker 6: You got a four-pack of passes. We'll hook that up.
- 12:34Speaker 6: Now do you go home, you go to bed, and
- 12:36Speaker 6: you work again later on tonight? Are you off tomorrow
- 12:38Speaker 6: or what?
- 12:39Speaker 1: Well, I actually get an extra day off.
- 12:40Speaker 8: I work like Tuesday through Friday. Oh, okay.
- 12:44Speaker 9: And.
- 12:44Speaker 8: I work just like three hours. I only work for
- 12:46Speaker 8: three hours, but it's worth it.
- 12:48Speaker 5: Oh, good.
- 12:49Speaker 6: Well, that shift, though, that's a different kind of schedule.
- 12:51Speaker 6: I thought our schedule was rough. So go home and
- 12:54Speaker 6: get some sleep and drive safe out there. And thank
- 12:57Speaker 6: you for listening.
- 12:58Speaker 3: Awesome.
- 12:59Speaker 4: How do I collect these tickets?
- 13:00Speaker 2: You stay right there. We'll hook you up. Don't you worry.
- 13:02Speaker 2: All right, ready. Real or fake news.
- 13:03Speaker 6: I'm going to give you three headlines. You're going to
- 13:05Speaker 6: tell me which one is the fake story. Which one
- 13:07Speaker 6: out of the three is the fake story? Candace, you ready?
- 13:09Speaker 3: I'm ready.
- 13:10Speaker 2: Who are you ready?
- 13:10Speaker 1: I'm ready.
- 13:11Speaker 2: Headline number one.
- 13:13Speaker 6: Intelligent people tend to be messy, stay awake longer, and
- 13:18Speaker 6: swear more.
- 13:19Speaker 2: New study finds.
- 13:21Speaker 6: Intelligent people tend to be messy, stay awake longer, and
- 13:25Speaker 6: swear more.
- 13:26Speaker 2: Study finds. That is headline number one. Headline number two.
- 13:30Speaker 6: Man defends in-and-out worker from an assault by beating a
- 13:33Speaker 6: woman with a spatula. Man defends in-and-out worker from an
- 13:40Speaker 6: assault by beating a woman with a spatula.
- 13:44Speaker 2: Headline number three.
- 13:46Speaker 6: Texas gym introduces, quote, don't talk to me wristbands for members.
- 13:52Speaker 6: Texas gym introduces, don't talk to me wristbands for members.
- 13:57Speaker 6: You have three. Three right there. Three headlines are going
- 14:00Speaker 6: to tell me which one. is the fake headline.
- 14:03Speaker 2: Candace, you want to go first? What do you want
- 14:04Speaker 2: to do?
- 14:04Speaker 3: This one's really hard today. I don't even care. I'm
- 14:07Speaker 3: just going first. Lock me in for that last story,
- 14:09Speaker 3: the wristband story.
- 14:10Speaker 1: Oh, really?
- 14:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:12Speaker 2: Are you sure?
- 14:13Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 14:13Speaker 2: Are you positive?
- 14:14Speaker 3: No, I'm really not, but lock me in anyways.
- 14:16Speaker 2: All right, last story is locked in. You're taking it first.
- 14:20Speaker 2: Pooh won too many times last week.
- 14:21Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 14:22Speaker 2: You're over it.
- 14:23Speaker 1: I just won twice.
- 14:24Speaker 2: You're like, that's enough. That's enough. Candace is very competitive.
- 14:28Speaker 3: Yeah, don't talk to me.
- 14:30Speaker 2: Behind the scenes. She's got a wristband on her. Don't
- 14:32Speaker 2: talk to me, wristband. You're locked in. Candace Lopez, which
- 14:34Speaker 2: one do you think is the fake story?
- 14:37Speaker 1: Lock me in for that second story. Getting whooped with
- 14:39Speaker 1: a spatula. That's funny to me. I think that's fake.
- 14:42Speaker 2: All right. You think that's fake. Let's lock that in.
- 14:46Speaker 2: You are locked in. And the winner today is.
- 14:49Speaker 2: Oh, wow. candace but you know candace that was good
- 14:59Speaker 2: i don't.
- 14:59Speaker 3: Know i just went with my gut yep the.
- 15:01Speaker 6: Fake story is texas gym introduces don't talk to me
- 15:04Speaker 6: wristbands for members although not an awful idea no not
- 15:10Speaker 6: an awful idea you know i mean because i feel
- 15:12Speaker 6: like ladies you go to the gym and sometimes i
- 15:15Speaker 6: feel like you just get People bug you.
- 15:17Speaker 2: Yeah. Let's just say guys bug you.
- 15:19Speaker 3: Right.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Do they? I don't really know because, I mean, I'm
- 15:22Speaker 2: not a woman.
- 15:23Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 15:24Speaker 2: Do you get bugged and you go to the gym, Candace,
- 15:25Speaker 2: or no?
- 15:26Speaker 3: No, but I don't really go to the gym much anymore. So, yeah,
- 15:28Speaker 3: I just work out at home.
- 15:29Speaker 6: Pooh can barely get on the treadmill without getting people
- 15:31Speaker 6: bugging him and asking for his number.
- 15:33Speaker 2: Where were you at yesterday, Pooh? Somebody stopped you, though. Oh,
- 15:36Speaker 2: at Outback.
- 15:36Speaker 5: Oh, really?
- 15:37Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:38Speaker 1: Shout out to Mr.
- 15:38Speaker 2: James.
- 15:39Speaker 1: He's a truck driver, yeah.
- 15:40Speaker 2: What up, Mr. James? I saw someone stop Pooh at Outback.
- 15:43Speaker 5: Oh.
- 15:44Speaker 2: He can't even eat his Bloomin' Onion in peace.
- 15:46Speaker 5: No.
- 15:46Speaker 2: He's so popular.
- 15:48Speaker 7: Where's the wristband?
- 15:49Speaker 1: We need to leave Miss Candace. He said, you and
- 15:51Speaker 1: Billy leave Miss Candace alone.
- 15:53Speaker 2: Oh, Mr. James.
- 15:54Speaker 1: Oh, nice.
- 15:56Speaker 2: He needs to leave us alone.
- 15:57Speaker 1: All right.
- 15:59Speaker 2: Let's get to these real stories.
- 16:00Speaker 6: This headline, intelligent people tend to be messy, stay awake
- 16:04Speaker 6: longer and swear more.
- 16:06Speaker 2: This study finds this is actually true.
- 16:08Speaker 6: So they say, yep, if you're up until the early
- 16:11Speaker 6: morning of the hours, you there's a good chance you
- 16:13Speaker 6: swear more like a sailor.
- 16:16Speaker 2: But also some good news.
- 16:17Speaker 6: Research cited the independent linked habits with intelligence, including findings
- 16:22Speaker 6: that people with larger swear word vocabularies tended to perform
- 16:25Speaker 6: better on IQ test. Separate research from the University of
- 16:28Speaker 6: Minnesota found that untidy environments could encourage more creative thinking.
- 16:34Speaker 3: Huh.
- 16:34Speaker 2: All right.
- 16:35Speaker 3: I always thought it was the opposite. You couldn't think
- 16:37Speaker 3: clear until your space was clear.
- 16:39Speaker 2: You know what's funny is, well, I'm not saying I'm smart.
- 16:43Speaker 6: But i tend to be in my like i do
- 16:45Speaker 6: a lot of art yeah in my art studio where
- 16:48Speaker 6: i'm the most creative in my little room.
- 16:50Speaker 2: I call it a studio yeah very messy.
- 16:52Speaker 3: Okay very i mean it's hard to keep that stuff
- 16:55Speaker 3: organized that's where.
- 16:55Speaker 6: I kind of thrive yeah you know i don't know
- 16:58Speaker 6: but poo he's kind of messy yeah who's the messiest
- 17:02Speaker 6: on the show canis.
- 17:03Speaker 3: Go ahead uh i mean probably me Honestly.
- 17:07Speaker 2: So you're the smartest?
- 17:08Speaker 3: Well, maybe.
- 17:09Speaker 2: Boy, that backfired on me.
- 17:10Speaker 1: All right, next story.
- 17:12Speaker 3: I just need a lot of things.
- 17:13Speaker 2: No, you're saying you're the smartest, and you're right. So
- 17:16Speaker 2: there you go. So this woman.
- 17:18Speaker 6: Defended, this guy defended a woman at In-N-Out from being
- 17:23Speaker 6: assaulted with a spatula.
- 17:25Speaker 2: Wait till you hear this story. This guy is a
- 17:27Speaker 2: real-life hero. So I guess this woman was freaking out
- 17:31Speaker 2: in the drive-thru and threatening the In-N-Out worker with a
- 17:34Speaker 2: baseball bat. No.
- 17:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:36Speaker 2: Fifty three year old woman was going crazy in Southern California.
- 17:40Speaker 6: I don't know if her order was wrong. They didn't
- 17:42Speaker 6: figure out what exactly was happening. But the In-N-Out workers
- 17:46Speaker 6: were freaked out. You got a woman outside of the
- 17:48Speaker 6: drive through door or the window with a bat out.
- 17:52Speaker 2: Of her car.
- 17:53Speaker 1: Right.
- 17:54Speaker 2: Going, come out here. I'll bust this window out.
- 17:56Speaker 5: Oh.
- 17:56Speaker 6: Well, that's when this 20-year-old college student named Luca, maybe
- 18:01Speaker 6: it was Luca Doncic.
- 18:03Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 18:04Speaker 6: He saw the chaos from his car at the drive-thru window.
- 18:07Speaker 6: Guess what this guy does?
- 18:08Speaker 5: What?
- 18:09Speaker 6: He jumps through the window, the drive-thru window at In-N-Out,
- 18:13Speaker 6: jumps through, moves the employees back, grabs a spatula from
- 18:17Speaker 6: the In-N-Out kitchen, and starts swinging it at the woman
- 18:21Speaker 6: with the baseball bat.
- 18:23Speaker 7: I feel like the bat's going to win.
- 18:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I think so.
- 18:26Speaker 3: A spatula?
- 18:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:28Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 18:29Speaker 6: I mean, they always say don't bring a spatula to
- 18:31Speaker 6: a bat fight.
- 18:32Speaker 5: They do.
- 18:32Speaker 3: Yeah, I guess.
- 18:33Speaker 2: I don't think anybody's ever said that. But it feels
- 18:36Speaker 2: like it should be said.
- 18:37Speaker 3: Okay.
- 18:38Speaker 6: So either way, Luca was swinging it on this woman.
- 18:42Speaker 6: And she retreated and accepted defeat.
- 18:45Speaker 3: All right.
- 18:46Speaker 2: And she's like, you know what? You're an idiot. You're
- 18:48Speaker 2: a psycho.
- 18:49Speaker 6: Like if a guy, if I have a baseball bat
- 18:51Speaker 6: and there's a guy that charges me with a spatula.
- 18:53Speaker 2: Right. You win, bro.
- 18:55Speaker 5: No, no.
- 18:56Speaker 2: Because you're psycho enough to run at me with a spatula.
- 18:59Speaker 3: Okay.
- 19:00Speaker 2: I don't want those problems. That's fair.
- 19:01Speaker 1: You don't have no fear of you coming at it.
- 19:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:03Speaker 1: With a spatula, a bat.
- 19:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:05Speaker 3: That's a good point.
- 19:06Speaker 2: What's the craziest thing you've hit somebody with, Candace?
- 19:09Speaker 9: I don't know.
- 19:10Speaker 3: I've thrown someone's phone before.
- 19:11Speaker 2: Oh, that's right. I hit somebody with a pickle one time.
- 19:16Speaker 2: Just threw a pickle at him.
- 19:17Speaker 1: You hit somebody with a Cheddar Bay biscuit, too.
- 19:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I did hit someone with a Cheddar Bay biscuit.
- 19:21Speaker 3: Yeah, that's true.
- 19:22Speaker 2: That's a long story, but.
- 19:24Speaker 1: It is.
- 19:25Speaker 2: For another time, Candace. For another time.
- 19:32Speaker 6: I realize I have a weird thing and I never
- 19:34Speaker 6: really had this weird thing until recently.
- 19:36Speaker 2: And maybe it's not weird. I'm gonna let you be
- 19:37Speaker 2: the judge, but I feel like everybody's got a weird thing. Okay.
- 19:40Speaker 6: You know, it could be something about the way you eat.
- 19:43Speaker 6: It could be something just weird about you that when
- 19:46Speaker 6: you do it, people are like, huh, that's kind of different.
- 19:49Speaker 3: Like how I go. through a door, like without using
- 19:51Speaker 3: my hands.
- 19:52Speaker 2: Wait a minute.
- 19:53Speaker 5: Well, yeah.
- 19:54Speaker 2: Is that your weird thing?
- 19:55Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll use my elbow or like my back or
- 19:57Speaker 3: I'll like spin into the door to open it.
- 19:59Speaker 2: I don't think that's really that weird.
- 20:01Speaker 5: Really? Oh, good.
- 20:02Speaker 2: No, I don't think it's that bad. You do that,
- 20:04Speaker 2: but you also take, you're small, but you're mighty.
- 20:06Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure.
- 20:07Speaker 2: So it takes a lot for you to get through
- 20:09Speaker 2: a door. Yeah. It really does.
- 20:11Speaker 7: I just put my whole body into it.
- 20:13Speaker 2: Candice, when she goes to the studio door right here,
- 20:15Speaker 2: which is, you know.
- 20:16Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, I don't touch the door.
- 20:17Speaker 2: No, you never do.
- 20:18Speaker 3: I body the door.
- 20:19Speaker 2: Big soundproof door. Yeah. You have to put all 100
- 20:23Speaker 2: pounds of you in it.
- 20:24Speaker 3: Oh, I got to start running from, like, way back there.
- 20:27Speaker 2: You remind me of Mighty Mouse.
- 20:29Speaker 9: Yeah, exactly.
- 20:30Speaker 2: You really are.
- 20:31Speaker 6: No, my weird thing is strange, and it happened to
- 20:33Speaker 6: me the other day. And when it happens, I don't
- 20:35Speaker 6: know why lately it bothers me. I can't stand watching
- 20:39Speaker 6: people eat alone.
- 20:40Speaker 3: Why?
- 20:41Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 20:42Speaker 7: Well, they're probably happy.
- 20:44Speaker 2: No, I'm not saying they're not. I don't know. I
- 20:46Speaker 2: know it's, this is why it's called a weird thing
- 20:48Speaker 2: and not a normal thing. Yeah.
- 20:50Speaker 6: Like it happened the other day and it was, there
- 20:52Speaker 6: was an older gentleman and I think that's what really
- 20:55Speaker 6: gets me. is when I see someone old, because I
- 20:57Speaker 6: automatically assume the worst.
- 20:59Speaker 2: Okay. You know, he has no family.
- 21:01Speaker 7: If it's an older person, yeah, that's probably a little more.
- 21:04Speaker 6: This person was older, eating alone, and I could not
- 21:07Speaker 6: stop watching him the entire time. I ended up going
- 21:11Speaker 6: to pay for his meal. Like when I left, I
- 21:13Speaker 6: paid for his meal too, because I was like, maybe,
- 21:15Speaker 6: I don't know. Don't, I don't want to say it's me,
- 21:17Speaker 6: but just can you pay for this guy's meal? She
- 21:18Speaker 6: was like, that's super nice. He comes here all the time.
- 21:21Speaker 6: And I just thought to myself, this guy is in
- 21:24Speaker 6: my demented head.
- 21:25Speaker 2: Yeah. He's older. He has no friends.
- 21:28Speaker 5: Oh.
- 21:28Speaker 2: He has no family.
- 21:29Speaker 5: No.
- 21:30Speaker 3: His wife's probably just tired of him wanting to go
- 21:31Speaker 3: to this place every Sunday. She's like, I'll go by myself.
- 21:34Speaker 6: And I'm telling you, you're right. You're probably right. But
- 21:37Speaker 6: in my head, it goes to a really weird place.
- 21:40Speaker 6: I mean, there's times I've been asked to move. I'm like,
- 21:42Speaker 6: can I move tables?
- 21:43Speaker 5: Oh.
- 21:43Speaker 2: And they're like, yeah, why? I'm like, because there's, like,
- 21:45Speaker 2: someone eating alone. It's going to bother me the whole time.
- 21:47Speaker 3: I don't mind eating alone, but I feel like everyone's
- 21:50Speaker 3: staring at me like you were.
- 21:51Speaker 2: It's me. Yeah.
- 21:53Speaker 7: Stop staring at the person by themselves.
- 21:55Speaker 1: Let me eat my pancakes by myself.
- 21:56Speaker 2: But the funny part is, I eat alone all the time.
- 21:58Speaker 5: Right.
- 21:59Speaker 2: There's times I eat. Oh, stop with the music.
- 22:01Speaker 3: My bad.
- 22:02Speaker 6: There's times I do eat alone, and it's just because
- 22:05Speaker 6: I just happen to be alone.
- 22:06Speaker 2: I actually love it. It doesn't bother me at all.
- 22:08Speaker 2: But I don't know why. It's a new thing for me, so.
- 22:12Speaker 3: Okay.
- 22:12Speaker 1: I got a weird thing.
- 22:13Speaker 2: What's your weird thing?
- 22:15Speaker 1: I cannot go through a self-checkout if I see a
- 22:17Speaker 1: person in, you know, a cashier there.
- 22:19Speaker 2: Really?
- 22:20Speaker 1: I'd rather go to them instead of going to self-checkout.
- 22:22Speaker 1: You are weird about that. Yeah, Billy got on to me.
- 22:25Speaker 1: Why can't we just do self-checkout? Because I don't want
- 22:26Speaker 1: to wait in line.
- 22:27Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 22:28Speaker 1: I'd rather go to a person.
- 22:29Speaker 2: 14 self-checkouts.
- 22:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:31Speaker 2: And I'm like, what's the point? He's like, I just
- 22:33Speaker 2: don't like dealing with them.
- 22:35Speaker 1: No, because if I make a mistake, then I got
- 22:37Speaker 1: to wait on somebody who's standing at the end of
- 22:39Speaker 1: the self-checkout to come ring it up and stuff. I'd
- 22:41Speaker 1: rather just go to a person.
- 22:42Speaker 3: No, it's annoying.
- 22:43Speaker 1: And let them do it.
- 22:44Speaker 5: Really?
- 22:44Speaker 2: Because I'm like all the, I'm the opposite. If I
- 22:48Speaker 2: see an open self-checkout.
- 22:51Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 22:51Speaker 3: I mean, if I have 10 things or so under 20,
- 22:54Speaker 3: I'll go to self-checkout.
- 22:54Speaker 2: Well, sometimes lately you don't even have a choice at
- 22:56Speaker 2: these stores. It's all self-checkout. Yeah. Yeah. And yes, I
- 22:59Speaker 2: want people to have jobs, but I also don't want
- 23:02Speaker 2: to wait in line.
- 23:02Speaker 5: Right.
- 23:03Speaker 3: With someone directing me where to go when it's self-checkout,
- 23:06Speaker 3: like there's one open over here, there's one open in here.
- 23:08Speaker 3: I'm like, can you just check me out right there? Right.
- 23:10Speaker 6: But there was times like I had a big shopping order.
- 23:13Speaker 6: Like I went to the grocery store and like shop shopped.
- 23:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:16Speaker 6: And I didn't even have enough room. I was putting
- 23:17Speaker 6: stuff on the floor. I didn't have enough room to
- 23:20Speaker 6: put it all in the self checkout thing.
- 23:21Speaker 3: Right.
- 23:22Speaker 2: So then I'm like, I felt like I deserved to
- 23:24Speaker 2: check after I felt like I had a part time job.
- 23:26Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 23:27Speaker 3: And at what point can you put it in your
- 23:28Speaker 3: cart if you're not done? Like there's no room on
- 23:30Speaker 3: the thing. So do I put my bags in the cart?
- 23:33Speaker 2: I put it directly in my cart.
- 23:34Speaker 3: You do? Okay.
- 23:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:35Speaker 2: I'm like, I don't care. Sometimes I don't even remove
- 23:37Speaker 2: from the cart. I just. Literally just start scanning stuff
- 23:39Speaker 2: in there. Oh, really?
- 23:41Speaker 5: Oh, yeah. Oh.
- 23:42Speaker 2: Boop, boop, boop, boop, boop. I probably missed something. Don't care.
- 23:47Speaker 1: Don't care.
- 23:48Speaker 3: Well, they bring up the replay, and then it's awful.
- 23:50Speaker 2: Oh, they do?
- 23:51Speaker 5: Yes.
- 23:51Speaker 1: Yeah, Target.
- 23:52Speaker 3: They came and watched me scan my eggs on the
- 23:54Speaker 3: camera the other day. Stop lying. Yes, I don't want
- 23:56Speaker 3: to watch myself scan eggs.
- 23:57Speaker 2: They bring up the replay to see if you actually
- 23:59Speaker 2: did it?
- 24:00Speaker 5: Yes.
- 24:00Speaker 1: Yeah, Target does it.
- 24:01Speaker 2: Exactly. I've never had them bring up the instant replay.
- 24:03Speaker 5: Whoa. Yeah.
- 24:04Speaker 3: Well, lucky you.
- 24:05Speaker 2: Here's you stealing. Let's watch it again.
- 24:07Speaker 5: Yeah. Yeah.
- 24:09Speaker 2: It's Texas Top Stories on the 10s with Billy the
- 24:12Speaker 2: Kid in the Morning.
- 24:13Speaker 5: Only on the new Mix 102.9.
- 24:16Speaker 2: The most Monday-feeling Tuesday ever.
- 24:18Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 24:19Speaker 2: Oh, you got this. It's tough getting back after a
- 24:22Speaker 2: long holiday weekend.
- 24:22Speaker 3: It really is. It should be easy, but it's not.
- 24:24Speaker 2: Usher and Chris Brown tickets coming up next. Candice, what
- 24:27Speaker 2: you got?
- 24:27Speaker 3: Well, Walmart is adding Dunkin' to their delivery app, guys.
- 24:31Speaker 3: So they're starting with 150 Dunkin' locations already inside Walmart
- 24:35Speaker 3: stores and then expanding to most of Dunkin's 10,000 locations nationwide.
- 24:40Speaker 3: I feel like pretty soon we're just going to be
- 24:41Speaker 3: able to get whatever we want delivered anytime. They're adding coffee, breakfast,
- 24:46Speaker 3: and other menu items right into the Walmart app and Walmart.com.
- 24:51Speaker 3: They're going to let you customize your drink orders through
- 24:53Speaker 3: a restaurant's tab, and then you can have that delivered
- 24:55Speaker 3: with your groceries and household items like you normally would.
- 24:59Speaker 2: I ran out of.
- 24:59Speaker 6: Coffee this weekend, you know, at my house, so I
- 25:01Speaker 6: had to door dash them because I didn't want to leave.
- 25:04Speaker 2: I'll never do that again.
- 25:05Speaker 5: Why?
- 25:05Speaker 2: Because I just feel so... I don't know.
- 25:08Speaker 1: I just feel so stupid.
- 25:10Speaker 2: Lazy. Lazy.
- 25:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:12Speaker 2: And like I'm overspending. When I door dash a Starbucks. Right.
- 25:15Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 25:16Speaker 2: I just felt, get your life together, Billy. You lazy
- 25:18Speaker 2: piece of garbage.
- 25:19Speaker 3: We are in a bad way. No, you're right. We
- 25:21Speaker 3: have just a coffee delivered to our porch.
- 25:23Speaker 2: And of course, they mess up the order. And door
- 25:26Speaker 2: dash is about to ban me. They're like, we notice
- 25:28Speaker 2: a lot of errors lately on our side. Really? That's
- 25:31Speaker 2: basically what I'm saying. Are you trying to scam us?
- 25:33Speaker 6: Because there's a lot of things going wrong every time
- 25:36Speaker 6: you get the delivery.
- 25:37Speaker 2: Well, that's not my fault.
- 25:38Speaker 3: Yeah, no. If it's right, then what are you supposed
- 25:41Speaker 3: to do? I mean, I think they tried with the Subway.
- 25:43Speaker 3: They tried this with Subway at one point. So Walmart,
- 25:46Speaker 3: I mean, just going to deliver you anything you need, anytime.
- 25:48Speaker 3: It's crazy. Guys, Ben Affleck and Affleck Insurance are finally
- 25:53Speaker 3: working together after years of jokes about it. So this
- 25:58Speaker 3: is why these pictures of Ben Affleck had gone viral.
- 26:01Speaker 3: You could see him spray painting his name over some
- 26:04Speaker 3: of the Affleck ads. So he was just like crossing
- 26:07Speaker 3: it out and putting Affleck. So he's in this commercial
- 26:10Speaker 3: with Deion Sanders, a couple of other coaches, and they're
- 26:14Speaker 3: backstage in this green room. And these coaches are coaching
- 26:16Speaker 3: him on how supplemental insurance works. So people are just
- 26:21Speaker 3: going off because they've said, you know, a spokesperson said
- 26:24Speaker 3: they've been this has been an idea thousands of times
- 26:27Speaker 3: over how it took so long for Ben Affleck and Affleck.
- 26:31Speaker 7: To work together is beyond.
- 26:33Speaker 2: The collab that should have happened years ago.
- 26:35Speaker 5: Right.
- 26:35Speaker 3: He was busy, though, collabing with Duncan.
- 26:37Speaker 2: He was busy collabing with J-Lo.
- 26:39Speaker 1: Yeah, he was.
- 26:39Speaker 3: Well, all the Jennifers, right?
- 26:41Speaker 2: Was he with all the Jennifers?
- 26:43Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. Jennifer, Ben and Jen, and Ben and Jen.
- 26:45Speaker 2: He only dates Jennifers.
- 26:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:47Speaker 2: Yeah, good for him.
- 26:47Speaker 3: And Aflac.
- 26:48Speaker 2: An Aflac.
- 26:49Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly. You're going to see a lot of these commercials, though.
- 26:51Speaker 3: I guess they're going to be airing during a lot
- 26:53Speaker 3: of college football games and NFL games soon. So be
- 26:56Speaker 3: on the lookout. Guys, there is a new dating safety
- 26:59Speaker 3: site called Stud or Dud that is offering free background checks.
- 27:04Speaker 3: So this is going to help singles see potential red
- 27:07Speaker 3: flags before a first date. It was launched by the
- 27:11Speaker 3: public records company People Finders, but it'll pull address history, bankruptcies,
- 27:16Speaker 3: other public records. And then it has red and green
- 27:20Speaker 3: flag indicators.
- 27:21Speaker 2: I mean, OK, you want to. Criminal background check. That's
- 27:24Speaker 2: one thing.
- 27:24Speaker 1: Yeah. Bankruptcy. Golly.
- 27:27Speaker 2: You got to look up everything I've ever done in
- 27:28Speaker 2: my life now.
- 27:29Speaker 3: I mean, would you use this?
- 27:31Speaker 2: Would I use it?
- 27:32Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 27:32Speaker 5: No.
- 27:33Speaker 2: I'm not trying to find a stud.
- 27:34Speaker 3: Well, I mean, I'm just saying if it was for anybody.
- 27:36Speaker 2: Candace.
- 27:37Speaker 3: Well, I don't know if it's just men.
- 27:38Speaker 2: Well, I don't know. It says stud or dud.
- 27:41Speaker 3: Well, I know. It's just a fun name, though.
- 27:43Speaker 2: I think it's for only men.
- 27:44Speaker 3: Yeah. Well, would you use it, though, for women?
- 27:47Speaker 2: If it's your thing. Yeah.
- 27:48Speaker 3: You would?
- 27:49Speaker 5: Yeah. Okay.
- 27:50Speaker 2: I don't know what I'd call it, but I definitely
- 27:52Speaker 2: feel like I'd use it. But I don't need to
- 27:54Speaker 2: know everybody's history. I just need to know if you're
- 27:57Speaker 2: a criminal or not.
- 27:58Speaker 5: Right.
- 27:59Speaker 6: I mean, I wouldn't get mad if somebody ran a
- 28:00Speaker 6: background check on me in 2026 before you go on
- 28:03Speaker 6: a date.
- 28:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 28:04Speaker 2: I mean, would you be offended?
- 28:05Speaker 3: Look at your credit score.
- 28:06Speaker 2: Would you be offended?
- 28:07Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't need nobody in all of my business
- 28:09Speaker 1: like that.
- 28:09Speaker 2: Oh, credit score.
- 28:10Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 28:11Speaker 1: Oh, no. Credit score's different. Yeah, I don't need you
- 28:13Speaker 1: to know that.
- 28:13Speaker 2: Now we're looking up credit scores?
- 28:14Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 28:15Speaker 5: For what?
- 28:15Speaker 7: I mean, I think people will do it just out
- 28:17Speaker 7: of curiosity.
- 28:18Speaker 3: It's like deep diving on someone's social media.
- 28:20Speaker 2: Well, okay.
- 28:20Speaker 3: The more you know, right?
- 28:22Speaker 2: Pooh's credit score looks like the temperature outside. You're at
- 28:25Speaker 2: triple digits right now. Barely.
- 28:27Speaker 3: Okay.
- 28:29Speaker 2: All right.
- 28:29Speaker 3: I'm Candace Lopez. Those are your Texas Top Stories.
- 28:32Speaker 5: The new Mix 102.9.
- 28:34Speaker 6: That dirty little secret coming up next. Getting ready for
- 28:36Speaker 6: the banger on Mix 102.9. It's Bailey the Kid. Candace
- 28:39Speaker 6: Lopez is here. Producer Pooh is here. Social media, it's
- 28:43Speaker 6: such a double-edged sword because obviously, you know, you see
- 28:45Speaker 6: stuff on there and it gets.
- 28:46Speaker 2: You know, you get hooked and you're scrolling, you're doom scrolling.
- 28:49Speaker 2: Then you see some things that make you think like,
- 28:52Speaker 2: you know what? Maybe my life isn't so bad.
- 28:54Speaker 6: I saw this girl break up with her man over
- 28:57Speaker 6: the weekend and she posted about it on Instagram. And
- 29:01Speaker 6: then people started commenting. The post went viral about like
- 29:04Speaker 6: the worst thing a guy's ever said to you. But
- 29:06Speaker 6: she broke with her man instantly. She said one line
- 29:09Speaker 6: that he said was just awful.
- 29:12Speaker 2: Okay. She's like, never again. Are you ready for this? Yeah.
- 29:16Speaker 6: So she's upset about something. She's trying to sleep. He's
- 29:20Speaker 6: in bed next to her. And it's about something like
- 29:22Speaker 6: a family thing.
- 29:23Speaker 2: She said she didn't want to get into detail, but
- 29:24Speaker 2: she's like, I was upset. Something happened with my family.
- 29:27Speaker 2: And he rolled over and said, can you cry quieter?
- 29:32Speaker 3: Oh, no.
- 29:36Speaker 1: And she said, oh, we're done.
- 29:39Speaker 5: Oh.
- 29:40Speaker 6: We're done she got her stuff she left went to
- 29:43Speaker 6: stay at her parents house good for her no a
- 29:46Speaker 6: hundred percent good.
- 29:47Speaker 2: For her can you cry quieter wow what's the worst.
- 29:52Speaker 6: Thing somebody's ever said to you if you want to
- 29:54Speaker 6: confess you want to tell us please do Okay. At
- 29:58Speaker 6: Mix 1029 FM, at Billy on the radio, whatever the
- 30:01Speaker 6: case may be. But then it lit up the comments
- 30:03Speaker 6: and people were going, oh, that's bad. But wait till
- 30:05Speaker 6: you hear this. Are you ready for some of these comments?
- 30:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:08Speaker 3: Worse than this?
- 30:09Speaker 2: Close.
- 30:10Speaker 3: Okay.
- 30:11Speaker 1: Oh, Lord.
- 30:11Speaker 2: One girl said, I was on a road trip.
- 30:14Speaker 6: We're on a road trip and I was talking about
- 30:16Speaker 6: things I want to do in life with my boyfriend.
- 30:18Speaker 6: She said, you know, I'd really like to go back
- 30:20Speaker 6: to school to be a nurse. He looked at me
- 30:23Speaker 6: and said, babe, you got to be really smart to
- 30:25Speaker 6: do that. She said, we broke up and I just
- 30:31Speaker 6: celebrated 10 years as a nurse.
- 30:33Speaker 1: Oh, good for her.
- 30:35Speaker 7: What an idiot.
- 30:37Speaker 5: Wow.
- 30:37Speaker 2: You got to be really smart to be a nurse. Well,
- 30:40Speaker 2: I am.
- 30:40Speaker 5: Right.
- 30:41Speaker 2: Smart enough that I know I'd be with you.
- 30:42Speaker 3: To break up with you, yeah.
- 30:44Speaker 2: Ladies never put up with this kind of stuff.
- 30:46Speaker 5: No.
- 30:46Speaker 2: I'm telling you. Okay, here's another one. You ready? Yeah.
- 30:49Speaker 6: There was a free pumpkin patch. I asked my ex
- 30:51Speaker 6: if we could go on the last day.
- 30:53Speaker 1: It was open.
- 30:53Speaker 2: It was free. It was only 10 minutes away. We
- 30:55Speaker 2: had no other plans. He said no.
- 30:57Speaker 1: Okay.
- 30:58Speaker 2: When I asked why not, he said, I just feel
- 31:00Speaker 2: like you get your way too much.
- 31:03Speaker 5: Oh.
- 31:03Speaker 2: And sorry, but you can't get everything you want. What?
- 31:06Speaker 3: Are you my dad now?
- 31:08Speaker 2: We're going to a free pumpkin patch.
- 31:09Speaker 1: What's wrong with a free pumpkin?
- 31:11Speaker 2: Yeah. But this might have been the worst one ever.
- 31:13Speaker 5: Okay.
- 31:14Speaker 2: Are you ready? Before we do the banger.
- 31:15Speaker 3: Oh.
- 31:17Speaker 6: So I guess they were at the 12-week checkup appointment
- 31:20Speaker 6: because they were pregnant.
- 31:22Speaker 9: Right.
- 31:23Speaker 2: And at 12 weeks, mind you.
- 31:26Speaker 6: She says, he looks at the doctor and says, when
- 31:31Speaker 6: will she have more energy so she can keep up
- 31:33Speaker 6: with the chores better?
- 31:34Speaker 9: Are you kidding?
- 31:37Speaker 3: Oh, poor lady.
- 31:38Speaker 7: Bro, you got to go.
- 31:42Speaker 2: The doctor literally looked at him and said, maybe never.
- 31:46Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly. Literally never, sir.
- 31:49Speaker 2: When will she have more energy to keep up with
- 31:53Speaker 2: the chores? Anyway, if you got one, let me know. Ladies, never,
- 31:57Speaker 2: never settle.
- 31:59Speaker 1: Right.
- 32:00Speaker 2: For a man like that.
- 32:01Speaker 5: Right off your chest.
- 32:03Speaker 9: It's Dirty Little Secret with Billy the Kid in the
- 32:05Speaker 9: Morning on Mix 102.9.
- 32:07Speaker 3: Brought to you by Mint Dentistry.
- 32:09Speaker 2: It is time to confess.
- 32:11Speaker 6: It's Billy the Kid, Candace Lopez, producer Pooh. I'm giving
- 32:13Speaker 6: you a heads up because tomorrow. You know we got
- 32:15Speaker 6: this gas gremlin running around.
- 32:17Speaker 3: Yeah, I heard.
- 32:18Speaker 6: He's all around the mix studios. He's guzzling up the gas.
- 32:22Speaker 6: We got a couple gremlins in here. The good news
- 32:25Speaker 6: is tomorrow he's going to start giving away gas. A
- 32:28Speaker 6: chance at $ 3, 000 in.
- 32:30Speaker 2: Free gas from our gas gremlin.
- 32:32Speaker 3: Nice.
- 32:32Speaker 2: You got to see this thing. It's ugly.
- 32:34Speaker 3: No, I thought it was cute.
- 32:35Speaker 2: He's kind of so ugly, he's cute.
- 32:37Speaker 1: Yes.
- 32:38Speaker 6: So go look at Mix 1029 FM. But the first
- 32:41Speaker 6: shot to win around 9 a.m.
- 32:42Speaker 2: Tomorrow.
- 32:43Speaker 6: So many chances all day if you want some free gas,
- 32:45Speaker 6: because I'm telling you, gas is crazy right now.
- 32:47Speaker 8: Oh, yeah.
- 32:48Speaker 2: Just get more expensive.
- 32:49Speaker 3: For sure.
- 32:50Speaker 2: Start driving my bike to work if I had two
- 32:52Speaker 2: good hands.
- 32:52Speaker 3: Might as well.
- 32:53Speaker 2: Can I do one-handed?
- 32:54Speaker 5: Yeah. Yeah.
- 32:55Speaker 7: You can make it happen.
- 32:56Speaker 2: All right. Thanks, Candice. I appreciate the confidence.
- 32:58Speaker 3: I got faith in you.
- 32:58Speaker 2: You got such good mom energy.
- 33:00Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 33:00Speaker 5: She does.
- 33:01Speaker 3: You got this.
- 33:01Speaker 2: You can do anything you want, sweetie.
- 33:04Speaker 1: Just believe.
- 33:04Speaker 2: Just believe in it. You can do it. All right.
- 33:07Speaker 2: If you have a confession, bring it. You got one.
- 33:09Speaker 2: What's going on?
- 33:09Speaker 8: I have a confession I've been carrying around for almost
- 33:13Speaker 8: two years now. And I'm honestly starting to question whether
- 33:17Speaker 8: I'm protecting my daughter or doing something she's going to
- 33:21Speaker 8: hate me for someday.
- 33:23Speaker 2: Your daughter? Okay, so it's a secret involving her. What's
- 33:26Speaker 2: going on?
- 33:27Speaker 8: Well, she's eight years old, and she believes that her
- 33:31Speaker 8: father has never tried to be part of her life,
- 33:34Speaker 8: but that's not true.
- 33:36Speaker 6: She believes her father hasn't tried to be a part
- 33:40Speaker 6: of her life?
- 33:40Speaker 8: Right. She hasn't seen him since she was, like, one
- 33:43Speaker 8: year old. And, I mean, he and I had a
- 33:46Speaker 8: really bad relationship, eventually broke up. had a huge fight.
- 33:51Speaker 8: He basically disappeared. And at the time I heard he
- 33:55Speaker 8: was having issues with drugs and I, I knew he
- 33:58Speaker 8: was involved with some shady things when we were together.
- 34:01Speaker 8: And although to this day, I don't know everything he
- 34:04Speaker 8: was doing, but not a good influence. And for years
- 34:08Speaker 8: we heard like nothing from him.
- 34:10Speaker 1: Okay.
- 34:11Speaker 2: So he, he just kind of disappeared and that was it.
- 34:14Speaker 2: And That's that's tough. So she was real young, obviously,
- 34:18Speaker 2: when that when that went down and she's eight now.
- 34:20Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 34:21Speaker 2: OK. She is.
- 34:22Speaker 8: And I I've moved on. You know, it was really
- 34:25Speaker 8: hard at the beginning being a single mom. But I'm
- 34:27Speaker 8: married now and my daughter loves my husband. She calls
- 34:31Speaker 8: him dad. I mean, he's really the only dad she's
- 34:34Speaker 8: ever known. She never asks about her biological father. And
- 34:38Speaker 8: this is her life, her normal, happy life right now.
- 34:41Speaker 2: Right. OK, so that which is a great thing for her.
- 34:45Speaker 6: Did something else happen since then?
- 34:47Speaker 5: Yes.
- 34:47Speaker 8: So about a year and a half, maybe two years ago,
- 34:51Speaker 8: her biological dad suddenly reached out to me. I ignored him.
- 34:55Speaker 8: He texted again. I ignored him again. Then he contacted
- 34:59Speaker 8: my mom, which sucks. You know, then she got involved.
- 35:03Speaker 8: But then... You know, he's written letters, he's called, he
- 35:06Speaker 8: said he got sober, which I know people can change
- 35:09Speaker 8: if that happens. He apologized. He said he totally changed
- 35:13Speaker 8: his life, turned it around, and that one of his
- 35:15Speaker 8: biggest regrets is abandoning his daughter. And so at first
- 35:19Speaker 8: I thought, you know, I know him. Give it a month.
- 35:22Speaker 8: He'll disappear. But he hasn't. And yeah, so now I
- 35:26Speaker 8: have this, you know, conundrum. I don't know this issue
- 35:30Speaker 8: because it's been well over a year. He's still trying
- 35:33Speaker 8: and my daughter still has no idea. So now I'm
- 35:36Speaker 8: starting to feel conflicted. Like I've never shown her the letters.
- 35:40Speaker 8: I've never told her he's called. My mom knows what's happening,
- 35:43Speaker 8: but I've asked her not to say anything and she hasn't.
- 35:46Speaker 8: But I'm I'm struggling with it. But she's she's eight.
- 35:50Speaker 8: I mean, the little kids still.
- 35:52Speaker 6: We've had something similar to this before, a little bit different.
- 35:56Speaker 6: But I mean, the hard part is, is.
- 35:57Speaker 2: I know you're a mom and you're you want to
- 36:00Speaker 2: protect her. And, you know, of course, you have her
- 36:04Speaker 2: best interests in mind. So I get why you wouldn't
- 36:06Speaker 2: say right away.
- 36:07Speaker 3: Yeah, no.
- 36:09Speaker 7: I would be the same way.
- 36:10Speaker 2: Yeah, you want to protect because.
- 36:11Speaker 3: You don't want to get burned.
- 36:13Speaker 2: What is this guy? You don't know if he's going
- 36:15Speaker 2: to disappear after one call.
- 36:17Speaker 3: Yeah, it's not like it's just your feelings on the
- 36:19Speaker 3: line now. It's hers too.
- 36:21Speaker 2: But what do you do at this point?
- 36:22Speaker 8: I don't know what I'm supposed to do because, I mean,
- 36:25Speaker 8: of course, especially someone who's struggled with drugs, I mean,
- 36:28Speaker 8: of course he could disappear. What if I brought him
- 36:31Speaker 8: back into her life because he says he's changed and
- 36:34Speaker 8: I believe him and then I watch her get her
- 36:36Speaker 8: heart broken if he disappears again? I mean, then I'd
- 36:39Speaker 8: regret that.
- 36:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 36:41Speaker 6: But, you know, there's also another side of this, too, that's...
- 36:44Speaker 6: If he really wants to make it happen, he can
- 36:46Speaker 6: get the courts involved. And I do see, you know,
- 36:49Speaker 6: from the father's standpoint, of course, he does have the right.
- 36:52Speaker 6: And I'm not saying he didn't. He did definitely screw
- 36:54Speaker 6: up that right when he left.
- 36:56Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 36:56Speaker 2: So you can't come in and out. So you do
- 36:59Speaker 2: have to prove yourself. In my world, you have to
- 37:02Speaker 2: prove yourself that you're You're okay to be around our child.
- 37:05Speaker 8: Yeah, and maybe somehow he could prove himself to me first.
- 37:08Speaker 8: But he has been trying, you know, I mean, consistently.
- 37:13Speaker 8: But she has a dad. She has stability. She's happy.
- 37:16Speaker 8: She doesn't even ask about her bio dad or why
- 37:20Speaker 8: doesn't he love her. It's not even, like, on her mind, but,
- 37:23Speaker 8: you know, she's eight. Like, what happens when she's a teenager?
- 37:26Speaker 8: And then what if she gets pissed off and she
- 37:28Speaker 8: finds out he did try?
- 37:30Speaker 2: Right.
- 37:31Speaker 8: And what happens if she sees the letters someday and
- 37:33Speaker 8: then she asks, oh, why didn't you let him see me?
- 37:37Speaker 8: And then she's, you know, I'm the person who stopped it.
- 37:40Speaker 2: I can see why you don't trust him, is my point.
- 37:43Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 37:43Speaker 2: And I'll be honest, on a personal level, like, you know,
- 37:46Speaker 2: I didn't deal with this exact situation, but I will
- 37:48Speaker 2: say that my mom was– At a certain point with
- 37:51Speaker 2: my dad kind of leaving and not being in the picture,
- 37:53Speaker 2: my mom eventually told me, I don't want to say
- 37:57Speaker 2: the truth. She told me enough for me to kind
- 37:59Speaker 2: of make sense of it. And the older I got,
- 38:01Speaker 2: she would tell me more. She never bad mouthed him.
- 38:03Speaker 2: She never talked. bad about him and he would come
- 38:06Speaker 2: around every once in a while. And then I would
- 38:08Speaker 2: wonder why he didn't.
- 38:09Speaker 6: And she would eventually tell me, well, this is what
- 38:13Speaker 6: he deals with. And you know, this is why he doesn't,
- 38:15Speaker 6: it has nothing to do with you. And she was
- 38:17Speaker 6: honest with me because at that age, I was mature
- 38:19Speaker 6: for my age. So I could, I could understand what
- 38:22Speaker 6: was happening. I think she handled the right way. It
- 38:25Speaker 6: was like, I knew what was happening. I knew he
- 38:27Speaker 6: had problems with alcohol when I was a teenager. I
- 38:29Speaker 6: realized that, but she didn't tell me that when I
- 38:30Speaker 6: was eight.
- 38:31Speaker 5: Right.
- 38:32Speaker 2: But she told me when I was older, and then
- 38:33Speaker 2: it all made sense. Yeah. So I think you just
- 38:36Speaker 2: got to trust your gut. Yeah. Yeah.
- 38:39Speaker 8: Maybe I'll change my mind. It's just hard to think
- 38:41Speaker 8: into the future, like, what might happen.
- 38:43Speaker 2: Yeah. Right.
- 38:44Speaker 6: And, you know, if this guy really did change his life,
- 38:47Speaker 6: then give him the credit, and maybe you do give
- 38:49Speaker 6: him a chance, but maybe that's a very slow process.
- 38:52Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 38:53Speaker 2: That involves a counselor and a professional and people involved,
- 38:56Speaker 2: you know?
- 38:56Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 38:57Speaker 8: That's true. Well, thank you, guys. I appreciate your listening
- 39:01Speaker 8: and giving ideas.
- 39:02Speaker 1: You're welcome.
- 39:03Speaker 2: Absolutely. Well, thank you and good luck. And if you
- 39:05Speaker 2: get a chance, let us know what happens.
- 39:07Speaker 8: Okay. I will. Thank you.
- 39:09Speaker 2: Yeah. You don't want to discredit someone for trying.
- 39:11Speaker 3: Right.
- 39:12Speaker 2: And getting their life together.
- 39:13Speaker 3: That's tough, though.
- 39:14Speaker 2: Yeah, you got to protect those kids, though. Yeah. You
- 39:16Speaker 2: can't just come in and out of someone's life.
- 39:18Speaker 10: No.
- 39:19Speaker 2: And after you left, you got to earn it.
- 39:20Speaker 3: For sure.
- 39:21Speaker 2: I'm sorry, but you got to earn it back.
- 39:24Speaker 5: It's time for Candace Court.
- 39:26Speaker 3: It gets settled here with Billy the Kid in the morning.
- 39:30Speaker 2: All rise for the Honorable Judge Candace Lopez, who is
- 39:32Speaker 2: hungry today. And that makes for sometimes some wild verdicts
- 39:36Speaker 2: when you're hangry.
- 39:37Speaker 7: So hangry.
- 39:38Speaker 2: Yep.
- 39:38Speaker 6: It's Mix 102.9. Court is in session. It's Billy the Kid.
- 39:42Speaker 6: Candace is on the bench. Bay Lapu is here. And
- 39:44Speaker 6: if you got a problem you need solved at Candace
- 39:47Speaker 6: on air on Instagram.
- 39:48Speaker 2: All right. Today's case, this guy writes in, he's got
- 39:50Speaker 2: an issue with his dating life. Maybe it's who and
- 39:53Speaker 2: I write in. I've been dating this girl for about
- 39:56Speaker 2: three months now after some friends set us up.
- 39:59Speaker 6: Things have been great. She's funny, smart, has a good job,
- 40:02Speaker 6: and we have a lot in common, but there's just
- 40:05Speaker 6: one thing nagging at me. She has absolutely no social media.
- 40:12Speaker 6: No Instagram, no Facebook, no TikTok, no Snapchat, nothing.
- 40:18Speaker 3: Wow.
- 40:19Speaker 2: All of them. At first, I thought maybe she was
- 40:21Speaker 2: joking or just didn't use it as much as when
- 40:26Speaker 2: I asked her. She shrugged and said, I just don't
- 40:29Speaker 2: need it. Huh.
- 40:30Speaker 5: Okay.
- 40:32Speaker 6: My friends and I are split on it. Some say
- 40:35Speaker 6: I found a unicorn. Others say it's a huge red flag.
- 40:39Speaker 6: She hasn't given me a reason not to trust her
- 40:42Speaker 6: and nothing about her feels sketchy. But still, every time
- 40:45Speaker 6: someone asks us to see a picture of her and
- 40:49Speaker 6: ask what her Instagram is, I don't even know what
- 40:52Speaker 6: to tell them.
- 40:53Speaker 2: What do y'all think?
- 40:54Speaker 6: Is this a red flag or am I creating a
- 40:56Speaker 6: problem that doesn't exist? Oh, Candace, this is a good one.
- 41:00Speaker 6: So we're in the year 2026. If somebody doesn't have
- 41:05Speaker 6: any social media, what goes through your head?
- 41:08Speaker 3: I find that hard to believe. Not even a Facebook
- 41:10Speaker 3: from like back in the day, from college or from,
- 41:13Speaker 3: I mean, anything.
- 41:15Speaker 2: Right.
- 41:16Speaker 3: Not on any platform.
- 41:18Speaker 2: I don't use Facebook a lot, but I have one.
- 41:20Speaker 3: Right.
- 41:21Speaker 2: Like I don't use TikTok a lot, but I have one.
- 41:23Speaker 2: I'm on Instagram a lot.
- 41:24Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't have a TikTok. I had one, but
- 41:26Speaker 3: then I deleted the whole app. It's just too much.
- 41:28Speaker 3: I don't need it. What do I need it for?
- 41:30Speaker 3: But I do have Instagram and that's my primary social
- 41:32Speaker 3: media source.
- 41:33Speaker 2: Right.
- 41:34Speaker 7: I have Snapchat for like two people.
- 41:36Speaker 2: I will say this.
- 41:37Speaker 6: The people who don't have social media that I know
- 41:40Speaker 6: are shady.
- 41:41Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 41:42Speaker 2: I'm going to be honest. The people I know in
- 41:45Speaker 2: my life who say, oh, yeah, I don't mess with
- 41:47Speaker 2: social media. I don't have that.
- 41:49Speaker 5: Yep.
- 41:49Speaker 2: It's because they're a little shady.
- 41:50Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 41:50Speaker 3: I dated someone for a long time. He didn't have
- 41:52Speaker 3: social media. I thought it was super shady. He was shady.
- 41:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 41:58Speaker 6: So to me, this would be in the year 2026
- 42:01Speaker 6: and she's younger.
- 42:02Speaker 2: She's not super old or she hasn't doesn't have a
- 42:06Speaker 2: job that. you know, maybe secretive or high-level security risk.
- 42:11Speaker 5: Right.
- 42:12Speaker 2: Then it's a red flag to me.
- 42:14Speaker 3: Obviously, we have to use social media for our job. Like,
- 42:16Speaker 3: it is a thing. We have to use it. It
- 42:18Speaker 3: would be weird if we didn't, you know, doing what
- 42:20Speaker 3: we do.
- 42:21Speaker 9: Sure.
- 42:22Speaker 3: And promoting the radio station and interacting with people. I
- 42:26Speaker 3: find it hard to believe she doesn't have some kind
- 42:28Speaker 3: of anonymous profile that she's creeping on.
- 42:30Speaker 2: So you think she does. She's just not telling him. Yes.
- 42:33Speaker 5: No. I do.
- 42:35Speaker 1: I think he should be happy that she ain't obsessed.
- 42:37Speaker 1: Because a lot of these girls out there nowadays are
- 42:40Speaker 1: obsessed with their social media.
- 42:41Speaker 2: Trust me, I know all about that.
- 42:43Speaker 1: 50 million selfies. You know what I mean? He should
- 42:46Speaker 1: be happy. I'd be happy.
- 42:48Speaker 2: Yeah, but there's a difference between being obsessed and not
- 42:50Speaker 2: having it at all. Yeah. Like being obsessed is not
- 42:52Speaker 2: okay either. No. But not having any is just weird.
- 42:55Speaker 3: What's worse?
- 42:57Speaker 6: Hmm.
- 42:57Speaker 3: You know?
- 42:57Speaker 2: Why?
- 42:58Speaker 7: She stays on it?
- 42:59Speaker 1: Yeah, but if she hadn't given him a reason.
- 43:01Speaker 2: Let me ask you this. Her reason is I just
- 43:03Speaker 2: don't need it.
- 43:04Speaker 1: Yeah. Okay.
- 43:06Speaker 2: That seems to me, maybe if she said, I'm just
- 43:10Speaker 2: too busy. Right.
- 43:11Speaker 6: Or I don't want to deal with feeling like I
- 43:13Speaker 6: have to connect with people. If it was a deeper explanation,
- 43:16Speaker 6: I'd be like, oh, okay.
- 43:17Speaker 1: You know what?
- 43:18Speaker 6: That's why she doesn't do it. Or with my job,
- 43:20Speaker 6: it's a little bit weird. I don't want to, you know,
- 43:23Speaker 6: I just don't need it. Leads me to believe she
- 43:25Speaker 6: has 15 other boyfriends.
- 43:29Speaker 3: I just don't need to connect with people because I'm
- 43:31Speaker 3: just connecting with people.
- 43:33Speaker 2: Yeah. Like it's just something's a little bit off to me. Yeah.
- 43:37Speaker 7: I mean, maybe I don't text that much.
- 43:39Speaker 3: I communicate more on social media, but maybe, you know,
- 43:42Speaker 3: she's constantly communicating with people via text and that's it.
- 43:46Speaker 3: But people communicate on social media. I feel like more
- 43:49Speaker 3: than anything else.
- 43:50Speaker 2: And I find it hard to believe.
- 43:51Speaker 3: That Poo- You're out of the loop if you're not
- 43:52Speaker 3: on social media.
- 43:53Speaker 2: Yeah, 100%.
- 43:54Speaker 6: Poo, you wouldn't think it's weird if you met a
- 43:55Speaker 6: girl and she said, I have no social media.
- 43:59Speaker 1: I wouldn't trip. As long as she around me, as
- 44:01Speaker 1: long as she don't give me a reason, I wouldn't
- 44:03Speaker 1: even trip. Especially now. Your boy's been in the drought.
- 44:07Speaker 1: I'd accept it. I just got sad real quick. You
- 44:12Speaker 1: know what?
- 44:13Speaker 2: Maybe we should do a segment on the show where
- 44:15Speaker 2: we just hook poo up.
- 44:16Speaker 7: Yeah, I would love that.
- 44:17Speaker 2: I used to do a.
- 44:18Speaker 6: Show called Dateless in Dallas. Maybe we bring Dateless in
- 44:20Speaker 6: Dallas back just to hook up poo.
- 44:22Speaker 1: Yeah, that'd be great.
- 44:23Speaker 2: Because I'm sick of feeding them.
- 44:25Speaker 5: Oh, no.
- 44:26Speaker 1: I mean, I got some, don't get me wrong, I
- 44:27Speaker 1: got some prospects, but just nothing.
- 44:29Speaker 2: Oh, see, and this is exactly why you remain single. Prospects?
- 44:33Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, I'm just dating to try to find
- 44:35Speaker 1: my person.
- 44:36Speaker 3: Yeah, some potentials.
- 44:37Speaker 2: Yeah, some pootentials. Oh, you got to have pootential. Yeah, pootential, yeah.
- 44:42Speaker 5: All right.
- 44:44Speaker 2: A red flag.
- 44:45Speaker 1: No, no, it's not an ick or a red flag,
- 44:47Speaker 1: you know.
- 44:48Speaker 6: Okay, what do you think about this? Now, I think
- 44:50Speaker 6: we have a verdict coming in. As we speak.
- 44:52Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, there he is.
- 44:53Speaker 6: The bailiff is walking out with a verdict. The jury
- 44:56Speaker 6: is decided. Actually, there's no jury.
- 44:58Speaker 2: It's just Candace. There is no jury. Candace is the jury.
- 45:02Speaker 2: Do we have the verdict? The official verdict is.
- 45:04Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know. This is a red flag to me.
- 45:06Speaker 3: I think you're guilty of being a Finsta Fiona.
- 45:09Speaker 5: Oh!
- 45:10Speaker 7: I know you have a Finsta.
- 45:11Speaker 3: You got that private account. You're creeping.
- 45:14Speaker 2: You got your friend's girlfriend. Yeah. What is that?
- 45:16Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like a fake Insta.
- 45:19Speaker 5: Oh! Yeah.
- 45:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 45:20Speaker 2: She got a burner.
- 45:21Speaker 7: She's got one. She's definitely creeping.
- 45:23Speaker 3: Just because you don't have one that you use doesn't
- 45:25Speaker 3: mean you're not on there creeping.
- 45:27Speaker 1: Really?
- 45:27Speaker 7: Yeah, for sure.
- 45:28Speaker 3: No profile pic.
- 45:29Speaker 2: What is that?
- 45:32Speaker 5: You know?
- 45:33Speaker 2: She's a no-profile pig patty.
- 45:34Speaker 5: Exactly.
- 45:35Speaker 2: All right, she is guilty of being a?
- 45:36Speaker 3: A Vince DeFiona. It's Vince DeFiona.
- 45:39Speaker 2: It's Texas Top Stories on the 10s with Billy the
- 45:41Speaker 2: Kid in the morning.
- 45:42Speaker 5: Only on the new Mix 102.9.
- 45:44Speaker 2: All right, Candace Lopez, what you got?
- 45:47Speaker 3: Well, a heat advisory continues today until 8 p.m. We've
- 45:50Speaker 3: been under this since Sunday. Our high today is going
- 45:52Speaker 3: to be 101.
- 45:53Speaker 7: Same story this week.
- 45:54Speaker 3: We really have no relief in sight other than, you know,
- 45:58Speaker 3: highs down to the mid-90s by this time next week.
- 46:01Speaker 2: I know. I feel like it's after Labor Day. This
- 46:02Speaker 2: is when you turn the heat down a little bit.
- 46:04Speaker 3: Yeah. Summer's over.
- 46:05Speaker 2: Summer is over. You can't wear white. We got to
- 46:07Speaker 2: come on. I mean, does that still apply? No, it doesn't.
- 46:11Speaker 3: No. Who cares?
- 46:11Speaker 2: Yeah. Who cares? Yeah.
- 46:13Speaker 3: I hate fashion rules.
- 46:14Speaker 2: I like your attitude.
- 46:15Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly. A major weather situation, though, in Hawaii right now, though,
- 46:19Speaker 3: a category two hurricane dumping heavy rain to parts of
- 46:23Speaker 3: the islands this morning, bringing 30 foot surf. The governor
- 46:26Speaker 3: there has issued a state of emergency. This is the
- 46:29Speaker 3: third major storm system there in just a few weeks.
- 46:32Speaker 3: I think they're also under a tornado watch as well.
- 46:35Speaker 3: So definitely something we're keeping an eye on. And then
- 46:37Speaker 3: AT & T service, Internet service is operating normally again
- 46:41Speaker 3: after a major fiber outage affected the Dallas area yesterday.
- 46:46Speaker 3: Thousands of customers may qualify for a bill credit because
- 46:49Speaker 3: of this. But I was just seeing people posting, you know,
- 46:52Speaker 3: how they're getting on Wi-Fi somewhere else or using some
- 46:55Speaker 3: other service. but unable to do schoolwork, teachers unable to
- 46:59Speaker 3: get their plans ready.
- 47:00Speaker 7: Yeah, so that's awful.
- 47:02Speaker 6: And we were talking about social media. I have a
- 47:04Speaker 6: friend who thinks that everything's a conspiracy.
- 47:07Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 47:07Speaker 2: And I just watched him yesterday. Oh, yep, Internet's down.
- 47:11Speaker 3: Meltdown, yeah.
- 47:12Speaker 2: It's China. Here's the first wave of the attack. And
- 47:17Speaker 2: I'm like, okay, Eddie, just calm down. Nope, it's happening.
- 47:21Speaker 5: Right.
- 47:21Speaker 2: I'm enacting my plan. Here we go. I'm ready for war.
- 47:24Speaker 2: I'm like, the internet's back up.
- 47:26Speaker 5: Oh.
- 47:27Speaker 2: Well, maybe next time.
- 47:29Speaker 3: Better safe than sorry, Eddie. Guys, Costco's new Halloween treat
- 47:33Speaker 3: is going viral this morning. So I guess they're selling
- 47:36Speaker 3: a giant chocolate Frankenstein head that weighs about five and
- 47:39Speaker 3: a half pounds. It comes stuffed with more than a
- 47:42Speaker 3: pound of gummy candies. Yeah, I mean, I guess we're
- 47:45Speaker 3: ready for Halloween now, too, that Labor Day is over.
- 47:47Speaker 2: I'm ready.
- 47:48Speaker 7: This is a big deal, though.
- 47:49Speaker 3: It's all over the Internet. It also comes with a
- 47:51Speaker 3: small mallet so you can smash the Frankenstein head open.
- 47:54Speaker 3: It's selling for $ 55, but get it while you can.
- 47:58Speaker 3: I think it's going to sell out.
- 47:59Speaker 6: I love that people are like, you know, times are tough.
- 48:01Speaker 6: We're all struggling.
- 48:02Speaker 2: But, hey, I think I need that Frankenstein head. right
- 48:06Speaker 2: for 60 bucks at costco that comes with a mallet
- 48:08Speaker 2: so i can smash it and eat gummies i mean
- 48:10Speaker 2: it's the.
- 48:11Speaker 3: Little things right that make us happy during these times
- 48:14Speaker 3: i definitely buy it yeah recession indicator.
- 48:17Speaker 7: Probably that's what that is all right.
- 48:18Speaker 3: I'm candace lopez those are your texas top stories the
- 48:22Speaker 3: new mix 102.9 a.
- 48:25Speaker 6: Lot of calls about this it's mix 102.9 ability to
- 48:28Speaker 6: kick candace lopez producer poo listen we do a candace
- 48:31Speaker 6: cord and you got a You got an opinion about it.
- 48:33Speaker 2: I want to hear from you.
- 48:33Speaker 6: And this guy said, I don't know if this is
- 48:35Speaker 6: a red flag or not, because this girl that I
- 48:36Speaker 6: just started dating doesn't have any social media.
- 48:39Speaker 5: Right.
- 48:39Speaker 2: Whatsoever. Is it a red flag? A lot of people
- 48:42Speaker 2: calling up Herbie.
- 48:42Speaker 8: Hey, what's going on, man?
- 48:44Speaker 1: What do you think, Herbie?
- 48:45Speaker 6: Now, if Herbie, if a girl comes into your world,
- 48:48Speaker 6: she's like, I ain't got no social media.
- 48:49Speaker 2: What do you think?
- 48:50Speaker 8: Man, I'm keeping her forever, bud. That's the best thing
- 48:54Speaker 8: ever right there. She ain't hiding nothing.
- 48:56Speaker 9: She's got her s * * t together.
- 48:58Speaker 8: She knows what's going on, man. And he needs to
- 49:01Speaker 8: hang on to that one.
- 49:01Speaker 2: Well, I appreciate it, Herbie, and thank you for calling, brother.
- 49:04Speaker 2: All right, man.
- 49:05Speaker 8: Y'all have a good one.
- 49:06Speaker 2: Hey, you too, Herbie. I like Herbie. Chelsea in wide settlement.
- 49:10Speaker 1: That's me.
- 49:12Speaker 2: Chelsea, what do you think?
- 49:14Speaker 10: I think that it's a good thing.
- 49:15Speaker 2: You do?
- 49:16Speaker 8: I do, yeah.
- 49:17Speaker 10: I mean, I have an Instagram, but I never get
- 49:19Speaker 10: on it at Good for her for not buying into it. Now,
- 49:32Speaker 10: you know, and also the girl could just not have
- 49:34Speaker 10: any friends.
- 49:38Speaker 3: You're right.
- 49:39Speaker 10: I hope that she does.
- 49:41Speaker 2: No, I will say that, though. Chelsea, I'm not kidding you.
- 49:44Speaker 6: When I hear this is a red flag for me,
- 49:46Speaker 6: if I'm dating someone and the girl says, I don't
- 49:48Speaker 6: get along with other girls, that is a red flag
- 49:51Speaker 6: to me.
- 49:51Speaker 3: A major red flag.
- 49:52Speaker 1: Too many dudes. Too many dudes around.
- 49:54Speaker 10: That's problematic.
- 49:55Speaker 3: I agree.
- 49:56Speaker 2: Okay, now you're changing my mind, Chelsea. All right, you
- 49:59Speaker 2: know what? Thank you for calling, Chelsea.
- 50:00Speaker 9: You're welcome.
- 50:01Speaker 2: What's up, Sam? What do you think?
- 50:03Speaker 4: Facebook, all that, that's too much information, man. I mean,
- 50:07Speaker 4: I really don't need to know that you're at Chili's.
- 50:11Speaker 2: What?
- 50:12Speaker 4: Drinking a margarita.
- 50:13Speaker 1: Are you sure?
- 50:15Speaker 4: Take a picture of it.
- 50:16Speaker 2: Are you sure, Sam?
- 50:18Speaker 8: I am sure.
- 50:18Speaker 4: I don't care what you eat. I mean, if you
- 50:20Speaker 4: have kids and a family, post all you want, but
- 50:24Speaker 4: you're giving away too much information to too many people
- 50:27Speaker 4: that do not need it.
- 50:28Speaker 3: Sam, you don't want to know that I ate home-sliced
- 50:30Speaker 3: pizza yesterday, though?
- 50:33Speaker 4: Not really.
- 50:36Speaker 6: Is there anything Sam needs to see on social media
- 50:38Speaker 6: or you just don't want to see anything?
- 50:40Speaker 4: The only time I ever actually do any kind of
- 50:44Speaker 4: Facebook post when friends have passed and there's one of
- 50:48Speaker 4: those GoFundMe's to pass it around.
- 50:50Speaker 2: To other friends. Well, that's the only time Sam has
- 50:53Speaker 2: a heart. Sam's like, fine, this one time, if you die,
- 50:56Speaker 2: I might post.
- 51:00Speaker 1: It.
- 51:01Speaker 2: But if you're just posting your triple dipper, I ain't
- 51:03Speaker 2: doing it.
- 51:06Speaker 4: I don't want to see it.
- 51:07Speaker 1: I don't care. Hold on.
- 51:12Speaker 2: It's a curmudgeon like me.
- 51:13Speaker 3: Yeah, a little bit.
- 51:14Speaker 2: I get it.
- 51:15Speaker 5: All right.
- 51:15Speaker 2: Hot take of the day is coming up next.
- 51:16Speaker 6: You will not believe what this guy did because his
- 51:20Speaker 6: fiance is like, you know what?
- 51:21Speaker 2: Before we get married, I got.
- 51:24Speaker 1: To do something.
- 51:25Speaker 3: Okay.
- 51:26Speaker 6: And he takes her to do this thing to me,
- 51:29Speaker 6: which shocked me. shocked me, and I would have never
- 51:33Speaker 6: done it. I'll let you know what he did next.
- 51:36Speaker 5: Hot take of the day.
- 51:38Speaker 6: Mix the 102.9. It's Billy the Kid, Candice Lompas. Producer
- 51:42Speaker 6: Pooh is here, by the way.
- 51:43Speaker 2: Usher and Lil Wayne tickets, we got to make sure.
- 51:46Speaker 2: Lil Wayne, I said... I just caught that. Usher and
- 51:49Speaker 2: Chris Brown.
- 51:50Speaker 1: I was like, Lil Wayne's coming.
- 51:51Speaker 2: I don't know if Lil Wayne's going to be there.
- 51:52Speaker 3: He was here recently, though.
- 51:53Speaker 6: That's what I was thinking, is he was here. Either way,
- 51:55Speaker 6: if you want those tickets, we do it on the
- 51:56Speaker 6: 10s pretty much every hour, all day. I'm telling you,
- 51:59Speaker 6: it's a Tuesday, but it feels like a Monday to me.
- 52:01Speaker 6: In my head, the struggle is super real. And you
- 52:03Speaker 6: might get a chance to get on that VIP riser, too.
- 52:06Speaker 6: Which I'm going to tell you right now, if you
- 52:07Speaker 6: get on that VIP riser, things might go down.
- 52:10Speaker 7: It's a whole vibe, a whole scene.
- 52:12Speaker 2: That's what some would say.
- 52:14Speaker 6: But basically that VIP riser is, it's an area where, yeah,
- 52:17Speaker 6: thank you.
- 52:19Speaker 2: It's an area where you get up close and personal. Yeah.
- 52:22Speaker 6: And Usher might come over. Chris Brown might come over.
- 52:26Speaker 6: It's caused divorces. It's caused a lot of breakups. And
- 52:29Speaker 6: they get on you. Sometimes they do a LaBer type
- 52:32Speaker 6: dance on you.
- 52:32Speaker 2: Remember LaBer? Oh, yeah. Pooh used to work there.
- 52:34Speaker 5: Wow.
- 52:34Speaker 1: Yeah, I did.
- 52:35Speaker 3: That's right.
- 52:36Speaker 6: Pooh was, yeah, you don't want to know what he
- 52:37Speaker 6: did there. But it was a male entertainment facility that
- 52:40Speaker 6: Pooh worked at. But either way, that's what it turns into.
- 52:42Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 52:43Speaker 5: Okay.
- 52:43Speaker 2: That's why I don't go.
- 52:45Speaker 3: To the Usher concert?
- 52:47Speaker 1: Yeah. Because you're afraid?
- 52:49Speaker 2: Well, I'm scared I might get. A lap dance by Usher.
- 52:52Speaker 2: I don't want that. No, you don't want that. I
- 52:54Speaker 2: don't want these problems.
- 52:55Speaker 4: No.
- 52:55Speaker 3: For sure.
- 52:56Speaker 2: Because I've already had one.
- 52:57Speaker 5: Okay.
- 52:58Speaker 3: Once was enough.
- 53:00Speaker 2: It's okay.
- 53:00Speaker 5: It's me. All right.
- 53:02Speaker 8: Wow.
- 53:02Speaker 6: Either way, 9, 10, next chance to do that. We'll
- 53:04Speaker 6: do it on the 10s pretty much all day. Okay,
- 53:07Speaker 6: so when I see this, I said, you've got to
- 53:08Speaker 6: be kidding me. We live in the craziest world. I
- 53:11Speaker 6: can't imagine.
- 53:12Speaker 2: And you know what? Maybe I'm old school.
- 53:14Speaker 6: Maybe people are like, Billy, that's the problem with you.
- 53:16Speaker 6: That's why you're single is you're not thinking like this
- 53:18Speaker 6: guy's thinking. So this guy's engaged to this woman, and
- 53:22Speaker 6: it's going viral right now because before their wedding day,
- 53:26Speaker 6: she needed to do something. And it was really bothering her,
- 53:30Speaker 6: and she sits down her fiancé, and she's like, you know,
- 53:33Speaker 6: I know that you might have a certain reaction to this,
- 53:35Speaker 6: but I really need closure from my ex.
- 53:39Speaker 2: What?
- 53:40Speaker 8: Wait, what?
- 53:41Speaker 3: No.
- 53:42Speaker 5: And.
- 53:45Speaker 2: Imagine you're in a relationship and somebody says that to
- 53:47Speaker 2: you you're not just in a relationship you're about to
- 53:49Speaker 2: marry this person right why.
- 53:51Speaker 3: Can't we get closure before we even go out and start.
- 53:53Speaker 2: Dating again i feel like you should have closure before
- 53:57Speaker 2: you move on yeah that.
- 53:58Speaker 1: Door should have been closed a long time ago.
- 54:00Speaker 6: But maybe maybe i'm wrong and and a lot of
- 54:02Speaker 6: times i am um but basically this guy's like so
- 54:07Speaker 6: what do you mean and she's like you know i
- 54:08Speaker 6: just never feel i never really felt like i got
- 54:10Speaker 6: closure from my ex and i feel like we're about
- 54:13Speaker 6: to get married i'm so happy babe But I'd love
- 54:17Speaker 6: to just have a conversation with my ex and just
- 54:20Speaker 6: close that chapter.
- 54:21Speaker 3: No.
- 54:22Speaker 2: Just, you know. What do you mean?
- 54:23Speaker 1: Have a conversation.
- 54:25Speaker 2: So that's what I would say. I mean, what do
- 54:28Speaker 2: you mean? I would be like, this relationship is in shambles.
- 54:31Speaker 3: She's the definition of emotionally unavailable.
- 54:34Speaker 2: Unavailable. Yeah.
- 54:36Speaker 3: But you're engaged to someone else?
- 54:38Speaker 2: What did this guy do? This guy drove her over.
- 54:43Speaker 3: What?
- 54:43Speaker 2: You can't make this up. This guy drives his fiancée Okay.
- 54:49Speaker 2: Over to her ex's house.
- 54:51Speaker 3: I mean, I guess at least he's supervising it.
- 54:54Speaker 2: For what? So that she could have a talk with
- 54:56Speaker 2: him and get the closure she wanted.
- 54:59Speaker 5: Ew.
- 54:59Speaker 2: And this dude waited in the car.
- 55:02Speaker 3: No.
- 55:03Speaker 8: What?
- 55:04Speaker 6: Waited in the car. And you could see, the video's online.
- 55:08Speaker 6: So you can see the video of her coming out
- 55:10Speaker 6: with her ex. This dude, by the way, is like
- 55:12Speaker 6: some shirtless dude walking out.
- 55:14Speaker 2: Of his house.
- 55:15Speaker 7: Yeah, why does he have his shirt off?
- 55:16Speaker 3: I just watched this. They're hugging?
- 55:17Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, because sometimes, you know, you get hot when
- 55:20Speaker 2: you're talking about.
- 55:21Speaker 5: Oh, no.
- 55:23Speaker 2: Sure. He wasn't at the Usher concert.
- 55:25Speaker 5: Right.
- 55:25Speaker 3: He was on the riser for sure.
- 55:27Speaker 2: He was on the riser.
- 55:28Speaker 5: Right.
- 55:29Speaker 2: No, his shirt's off. They're walking out. They give like
- 55:31Speaker 2: each other a long emotional hug. And then she gets
- 55:34Speaker 2: back in the car. Yeah. And when she gets back
- 55:36Speaker 2: in the car, are you ready for this? Listen, because listen.
- 55:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 55:40Speaker 2: He records it. He records her.
- 55:42Speaker 6: Coming back in the car. He's like, you know, anything
- 55:43Speaker 6: for my baby. You know, if she needs closure from
- 55:46Speaker 6: her ex, then that's what I do.
- 55:47Speaker 2: No. Listen.
- 55:49Speaker 5: Okay. Baby, how was that? How was it?
- 55:55Speaker 2: She's bawling.
- 55:56Speaker 3: How was that?
- 55:57Speaker 2: He goes, how was that? And she's bawling.
- 55:59Speaker 4: What?
- 56:00Speaker 2: Uncontrollably crying. Listen.
- 56:02Speaker 5: Oh, my God.
- 56:05Speaker 3: He said that we could still be friends.
- 56:07Speaker 2: What?
- 56:08Speaker 3: No.
- 56:09Speaker 1: Are you serious?
- 56:11Speaker 2: He said we could still be friends.
- 56:14Speaker 1: No.
- 56:14Speaker 2: Listen, it gets better.
- 56:15Speaker 3: It's just really hard, but, you know, he's actually grown
- 56:19Speaker 3: a lot.
- 56:19Speaker 2: Oh, that's good.
- 56:21Speaker 3: That's good.
- 56:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 56:22Speaker 2: He's grown a lot. And this guy's like, oh, you know, oh, that's, oh, baby,
- 56:25Speaker 2: that's good. Yeah, that's good.
- 56:27Speaker 3: For what?
- 56:28Speaker 2: Good for who? Why?
- 56:30Speaker 3: Good for him.
- 56:31Speaker 5: Bye.
- 56:31Speaker 2: I mean, right?
- 56:33Speaker 3: What?
- 56:34Speaker 2: Ben, listen.
- 56:34Speaker 1: Maybe one day we could be friends. Yeah, maybe we could. No,
- 56:37Speaker 1: we can't.
- 56:38Speaker 5: Oh.
- 56:38Speaker 7: If you like him, he's really.
- 56:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 56:42Speaker 7: He loves going to the gym.
- 56:43Speaker 3: I know he likes going.
- 56:44Speaker 5: There, too.
- 56:45Speaker 2: Maybe one day we can all be friends.
- 56:48Speaker 3: He loves going to the gym. You do, too.
- 56:50Speaker 2: He loves going to the gym. Did you see him
- 56:51Speaker 2: with his shirt off? He's actually so swole.
- 56:54Speaker 11: Oh, my God.
- 56:55Speaker 2: He's actually got a six-pack.
- 56:56Speaker 1: What's wrong with this dude?
- 56:57Speaker 2: You should really talk to him because he has a
- 56:59Speaker 2: six-pack and you don't. I need 10 more minutes of closure.
- 57:03Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 57:04Speaker 3: You guys are so supportive, though. How was it? Good.
- 57:07Speaker 1: Okay.
- 57:07Speaker 2: Am I crazy or is this what, like— This is insane.
- 57:10Speaker 2: Or is it? Sometimes I wonder if I'm crazy.
- 57:12Speaker 3: Right.
- 57:13Speaker 2: Hot take of the day.
- 57:14Speaker 7: This is not why you're single, Billy.
- 57:15Speaker 2: Would you ever do this?
- 57:19Speaker 5: 833-787-1029.
- 57:19Speaker 2: I could picture Pooh being like, all right, baby, let
- 57:21Speaker 2: me drive you over there. I'm out. I'm out.
- 57:24Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 57:25Speaker 5: No, no.
- 57:26Speaker 1: First of all— He has his shirt off. What kind
- 57:29Speaker 1: of closure were they doing?
- 57:31Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying.
- 57:32Speaker 1: Come on over here.
- 57:33Speaker 2: And he is ripped.
- 57:34Speaker 1: Yeah, come here, girl. And he's a little sweaty, too. Yeah,
- 57:37Speaker 1: I'm going to miss you.
- 57:38Speaker 7: Well, she probably rolled up on him at the gym when.
- 57:40Speaker 3: He was coming out.
- 57:42Speaker 2: Is that what we're calling that nowadays? Yeah, for sure.
- 57:45Speaker 2: We were getting closure.
- 57:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 57:46Speaker 2: Oh, is that what you were doing?
- 57:48Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 57:48Speaker 2: Who would do that? Is this what we should do
- 57:50Speaker 2: in 2026 to make a woman happy?
- 57:52Speaker 3: Get closure before you even talk to someone.
- 57:54Speaker 2: The hot take of the day. You let me know.
- 57:56Speaker 6: It's Billy the Kid, Candace Lopaz. Producer Pooh is here.
- 57:59Speaker 6: Hopefully you had a good weekend. It's a Tuesday that
- 58:01Speaker 6: definitely feels like a Monday.
- 58:02Speaker 2: Candace, how was yours?
- 58:03Speaker 3: Yeah, it was good. Yeah, we went down to Austin
- 58:05Speaker 3: just for one night. My husband and my son wanted
- 58:07Speaker 3: to go to a big race at Circuit of the Americas,
- 58:09Speaker 3: so they did that. I hung at the pool. And
- 58:12Speaker 3: then we realized, you know, we'd forgotten Enzo's entire suitcase.
- 58:15Speaker 2: So that's the worst.
- 58:17Speaker 3: He had the clothes he had on. Luckily, I put
- 58:19Speaker 3: his toothbrush in Eric's bag and his toothpaste. So he
- 58:22Speaker 3: had that. But we had to go to Target, buy
- 58:23Speaker 3: him some clothes, a swimsuit.
- 58:26Speaker 2: It's spontaneous.
- 58:27Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 58:27Speaker 2: You know, it's a little back to school shopping a
- 58:29Speaker 2: couple of weeks later. Yeah. Some kids are out of
- 58:32Speaker 2: school today, actually.
- 58:33Speaker 3: They are.
- 58:33Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 58:33Speaker 2: Some kids are actually out of school today.
- 58:35Speaker 5: Oh, no.
- 58:35Speaker 7: We have picture day today.
- 58:36Speaker 2: Oh, picture day.
- 58:38Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 58:38Speaker 7: Right after a holiday.
- 58:40Speaker 2: Yeah, which is wild.
- 58:41Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 58:41Speaker 2: I used to hate picture day.
- 58:43Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 58:43Speaker 2: My mom would always put me in this very nice shirt,
- 58:45Speaker 2: but with like a regular T-shirt underneath. Every year I
- 58:49Speaker 2: would take off the nice T-shirt and just get a
- 58:50Speaker 2: picture in my beat up nasty shirt.
- 58:53Speaker 1: And she would just scream.
- 58:55Speaker 2: She's like, you had your undershirt on. I'm like, I
- 58:58Speaker 2: got hot at recess.
- 58:59Speaker 5: No.
- 59:00Speaker 2: Picture day, first thing in the morning.
- 59:01Speaker 7: First thing in the morning.
- 59:02Speaker 2: You can't wait until I'm like a little dirty kid.
- 59:04Speaker 5: Yep.
- 59:05Speaker 2: Because we used to play hard when we were kids. Oh, yeah.
- 59:07Speaker 3: They still do.
- 59:08Speaker 1: Okay, good.
- 59:08Speaker 2: I like that. Producer Pooh, what's up with you?
- 59:10Speaker 1: Man, yesterday I went to go eat at Outback over
- 59:13Speaker 1: there in Garland off George Bush. Hey, I had good food.
- 59:18Speaker 1: It was just a steak and a salad.
- 59:20Speaker 2: I didn't say anything.
- 59:21Speaker 1: Yeah, it wasn't unhealthy.
- 59:22Speaker 2: I promise. It wasn't anything healthy? It wasn't unhealthy. It
- 59:25Speaker 2: was just steak and salad. Yeah, that's it.
- 59:26Speaker 1: I didn't get anything else.
- 59:27Speaker 2: With how much ranch on it?
- 59:28Speaker 5: Okay.
- 59:30Speaker 1: Anyway, I was right there trying to catch that SMU
- 59:35Speaker 1: game and this Lister came up and he goes, hey.
- 59:38Speaker 2: Are you Pooh?
- 59:39Speaker 1: And I go, yeah. He goes, hey, brother, I'm James.
- 59:43Speaker 1: I drive trucks. Oh, that's awesome. Him and his wife, yeah.
- 59:47Speaker 1: And they sat and talked to me for a little bit,
- 59:49Speaker 1: and they told me, hey, you and Billy need to
- 59:51Speaker 1: leave Miss Candace alone.
- 59:53Speaker 2: Oh.
- 59:53Speaker 1: She might be small, but she sounds like she a
- 59:55Speaker 1: tough one. I was like, oh, you don't understand.
- 59:57Speaker 2: We don't mess with Candace. I know.
- 59:58Speaker 1: They said we mess with you.
- 1:00:00Speaker 7: More than you realize, probably.
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: Wow. Yeah.
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: Well, he had your back, Candace. He was like.
- 1:00:05Speaker 3: Thanks, James.
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: Thank you, James.
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: Miss Candace alone. I said, you don't understand. When we're
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: off the air, she whips us.
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: Yeah. You understand off the air that Candace gets on
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: to me.
- 1:00:14Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm off of her.
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: She screams at me.
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: On the air, it's sweet little Lopez.
- 1:00:19Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: Off the air.
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: Not true. Get my food. I was in time out
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: in the last commercials. She put me in time out.
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: Y'all are both grounded after the show today.
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: Wow.
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: See what I'm saying?
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:00:31Speaker 6: Okay, so earlier I was talking about my weird thing,
- 1:00:33Speaker 6: and I couldn't believe how many people reached out. Lately,
- 1:00:35Speaker 6: I don't know what it is. I have a weird thing.
- 1:00:37Speaker 6: I can't watch someone eat alone in a restaurant.
- 1:00:40Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:00:41Speaker 6: I just, I don't know why it makes me really sad,
- 1:00:43Speaker 6: especially if it's someone older. If it's someone younger, I'm like, whatever.
- 1:00:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: But if it's someone older, I'm just like, or, you know,
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: It just makes you wonder.
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: It does. It's so Stacy, you have a story. What happened?
- 1:00:54Speaker 5: Yes.
- 1:00:55Speaker 9: So my mother-in-law lives with us and it takes her
- 1:00:58Speaker 9: like three or four hours to eat. So when we
- 1:01:00Speaker 9: go out to eat, a lot of times we'll leave
- 1:01:03Speaker 9: her alone.
- 1:01:04Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:01:05Speaker 9: And come back later and pick her up.
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: Stop lying. Wait, you. She takes three or four hours
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: to eat. This is Candace Lopez.
- 1:01:16Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll eat with her.
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: Yeah, she'll have to eat. Okay, so you guys leave.
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: You're like, forget this.
- 1:01:21Speaker 9: Yes, because, well, and she likes to be alone, and
- 1:01:24Speaker 9: she likes to people watch. And she just sits there,
- 1:01:26Speaker 9: and we go to the same old restaurants, and they
- 1:01:29Speaker 9: know her.
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: Okay. Oh, my God.
- 1:01:31Speaker 9: But one time we were at Blue Goose, and this table, like,
- 1:01:35Speaker 9: shamed us for leaving her.
- 1:01:36Speaker 5: Oh.
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: No, they don't know. So they don't really know the
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: situation that she likes this.
- 1:01:40Speaker 9: And no, they just went up to her and said,
- 1:01:43Speaker 9: do you need to come over and sit with us?
- 1:01:45Speaker 9: And I'm so sorry. They're making you pay for the tab.
- 1:01:47Speaker 9: And do you need a ride home?
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: Oh, like you're abusing a senior citizen.
- 1:01:54Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:01:55Speaker 9: They sat there and they stared at us as we left.
- 1:02:00Speaker 9: And then they came over and talked to her.
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: Stop.
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: That would be me.
- 1:02:04Speaker 6: That would be, I'd be paying for a meal going, Oh,
- 1:02:07Speaker 6: I'm so sorry.
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: And she's like, leave me the hell alone. I'm having
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: a great time.
- 1:02:11Speaker 3: I know.
- 1:02:12Speaker 9: I thought of that when I heard you say that
- 1:02:14Speaker 9: this morning, I was like, I have got to call
- 1:02:15Speaker 9: and tell him this story.
- 1:02:16Speaker 4: Because thank you.
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: Thank you. Oh, we cut out either way. Oh, she
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: cut off either way. The AT & T outage. Thank you, Stacy.
- 1:02:25Speaker 2: I don't know what it is.
- 1:02:26Speaker 6: My, that's my new thing is I'll have to move.
- 1:02:28Speaker 6: If somebody's eating alone, I'm like, I can't watch this.
- 1:02:31Speaker 6: And I'll pay for their meal because I feel bad.
- 1:02:33Speaker 3: Well, don't stare at them. When I eat by myself,
- 1:02:35Speaker 3: I'm nervous because I feel like everyone's just staring at me.
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: It's me. Yeah. He's staring at you going.
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: Yeah, let me move my seat.
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: This poor little orphan Candace is eating in the corner alone.
- 1:02:46Speaker 7: Texas top stories on the 10s with Billy the Kid
- 1:02:48Speaker 7: in the morning.
- 1:02:49Speaker 5: Only on the new Mix 102.9. Got a chance.
- 1:02:52Speaker 6: Of these Usher and Chris Brown tickets next.
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: Candace Lopez, what's up?
- 1:02:56Speaker 3: Well, TSA is launching a pilot program called Gateside by
- 1:02:59Speaker 3: TSA PreCheck. This is going to allow approved guests into
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: airports who aren't traveling. They'll let you pass through security
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: with PreCheck, which is different than, you know, just a
- 1:03:09Speaker 3: regular visitor pass. 13 airports will be part of this,
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: including DFW Airport. So you would basically apply through TSA
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: and then you would get a gateside pass one to
- 1:03:19Speaker 3: three days before you need it. Why?
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: Just leave me alone at the airport. I don't want
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: nobody sitting in the gate with me. That's now that's
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: a good place to be alone.
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: The airport.
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: The airport. Leave me alone. Let me have a drink.
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: People watch, and I can get there three hours early
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: like I do for a flight. Yeah. And I don't
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: want to hear about it.
- 1:03:39Speaker 3: That's true. But, you know, people who need people to
- 1:03:41Speaker 3: drop you off or pick you up, you know, this
- 1:03:43Speaker 3: will allow you to dine and shop and all the things.
- 1:03:46Speaker 3: They're not going to let this happen during busy times
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: like holiday travel, though, but it will help, you know,
- 1:03:50Speaker 3: people flying with elderly people or kids and things like that.
- 1:03:54Speaker 8: Okay.
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: Well, now, if you're elderly or a kid, fine.
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:03:59Speaker 7: Curmudgeon hour is back.
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: Nanny, Nana, you'll be fine. Just go. You're in Terminal
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: E something.
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: Go, Nana.
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: Guys, Walmart is adding Dunkin' to their new delivery app.
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: So they're starting with 150 Dunkin' locations already inside Walmart stores.
- 1:04:14Speaker 3: Then they'll be expanding to most of Dunkin's locations nationwide.
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: So if you're shopping for, like, groceries or household items...
- 1:04:22Speaker 3: You can just throw in coffee, throw in a breakfast.
- 1:04:24Speaker 3: It's all right on the Walmart app or Walmart.com.
- 1:04:27Speaker 2: That's why you don't want to deliver it by drone.
- 1:04:28Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:04:29Speaker 3: You don't want to spill in your coffee.
- 1:04:30Speaker 2: Do they deliver coffee by drone? I think they might.
- 1:04:33Speaker 3: Really?
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: Some places.
- 1:04:34Speaker 3: I hope not.
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: I don't know. Why not? I just want something delivered
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: by drone.
- 1:04:40Speaker 3: You're still not in the delivery area?
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: I'm in a no drone zone.
- 1:04:44Speaker 3: Well, go to Pooh's house.
- 1:04:45Speaker 11: No.
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: God, no.
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: I'm in a drone area.
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: Well, good. Stay there. I'm not going to Pooh's.
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: We've never been invited to Pooh's house. It's not going
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: to start now.
- 1:04:55Speaker 3: No, we're just never going.
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: We're never going.
- 1:04:58Speaker 5: Ever.
- 1:04:58Speaker 3: Guys, Ben Affleck and Affleck Insurance are finally working together
- 1:05:02Speaker 3: after years of all these jokes about it. A spokesperson
- 1:05:06Speaker 3: for Affleck says this has probably been tens of thousands
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: of people's idea at this point. But he's in a
- 1:05:12Speaker 3: new commercial. Deion Sanders is in it. There's, you know,
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: like a coaching crew.
- 1:05:16Speaker 5: Oh.
- 1:05:16Speaker 7: Backstage in this green.
- 1:05:18Speaker 3: Room with him, and they're basically coaching him on how
- 1:05:20Speaker 3: supplemental insurance works. But this explains all those photos that
- 1:05:24Speaker 3: came out a couple weeks ago where Ben Affleck was
- 1:05:27Speaker 3: just like spray painting his name over the Affleck ad.
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: Nobody understood what was going on there. Like, why is
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: he just spray painting the wall?
- 1:05:33Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: He didn't go crazy. It was for the commercials. Exactly.
- 1:05:37Speaker 5: Okay.
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:05:37Speaker 3: I think a bunch of these are going to be
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: airing during college football and maybe NFL games. But yeah,
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: Ben Affleck meets Affleck.
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: There you go.
- 1:05:45Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: There you go.
- 1:05:45Speaker 3: I'm Candace Lopez. Those are your Texas top stories. 102.9.
- 1:05:48Speaker 5: The new Mix 102.9.
- 1:05:52Speaker 3: It's Dirty Little Secret with Billy the Kid in the
- 1:05:55Speaker 3: Morning on Mix 102.9. Brought to you by Minte.
- 1:05:59Speaker 6: Oh, it is time to confess. Whatever your confession, whatever
- 1:06:02Speaker 6: your secret is, 833-787-1029. You can always hit me up
- 1:06:06Speaker 6: on Instagram too, whatever's easiest, at Billy on the radio.
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: Or if you're like, forget you, Billy. I'd like to
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: hit up Candace because I trust her with my secret more.
- 1:06:12Speaker 3: Yeah, bring it.
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: Bring it to her. Add Candace on air. Don't tell
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: Pooh your secrets.
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: I can hold secrets.
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: We'll find out about that. But if you want to
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: hit up Pooh, Pooh on the radio. Either way, we
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: just want to get your secrets on. So go ahead.
- 1:06:24Speaker 8: I have a confession I've been carrying around for almost
- 1:06:27Speaker 8: two years now, and I'm honestly starting to question whether
- 1:06:32Speaker 8: I'm protecting my daughter or doing something she's going to
- 1:06:36Speaker 8: hate me for someday.
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: Your daughter? Okay, so it's a secret involving her. What's
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: going on?
- 1:06:41Speaker 8: Well, she's eight years old, and she believes that her
- 1:06:45Speaker 8: father has never tried to be part of her life,
- 1:06:49Speaker 8: but that's not true.
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: She believes her father is... Hasn't tried to be a
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: part of her life.
- 1:06:55Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:06:55Speaker 8: She hasn't seen him since she was like one year old.
- 1:06:59Speaker 8: And I mean, he and I had a really bad relationship,
- 1:07:02Speaker 8: eventually broke up. had a huge fight. He basically disappeared.
- 1:07:06Speaker 8: And at the time I heard he was having issues
- 1:07:10Speaker 8: with drugs and I, I knew he was involved with
- 1:07:13Speaker 8: some shady things when we were together. And although to
- 1:07:17Speaker 8: this day, I don't know everything he was doing, but
- 1:07:20Speaker 8: not a good influence. And for years we heard like
- 1:07:23Speaker 8: nothing from him.
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: So he, he just kind of disappeared and that was it.
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: And That's tough. So she was real young, obviously, when
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: that went down. And she's eight now. Yeah.
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:07:36Speaker 8: She is. And I've moved on. You know, it was
- 1:07:39Speaker 8: really hard at the beginning being a single mom, but
- 1:07:41Speaker 8: I'm married now. And my daughter loves my husband. She
- 1:07:45Speaker 8: calls him dad. I mean, he's really the only dad
- 1:07:48Speaker 8: she's ever known. She never asks about her biological father.
- 1:07:52Speaker 8: And this is her life, her normal, happy life right now.
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: Which is a great thing for her. Did something else
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: happen since then?
- 1:08:01Speaker 5: Yes.
- 1:08:02Speaker 8: So about a year and a half, maybe two years ago,
- 1:08:05Speaker 8: her biological dad suddenly reached out to me. I ignored him.
- 1:08:10Speaker 8: He texted again. I ignored him again. Then he contacted
- 1:08:13Speaker 8: my mom, which sucks. You know, then she got involved.
- 1:08:17Speaker 8: But then... You know, he's written letters, he's called, he
- 1:08:21Speaker 8: said he got sober, which I know people can change
- 1:08:24Speaker 8: if that happens. He apologized. He said he totally changed
- 1:08:27Speaker 8: his life, turned it around, and that one of his
- 1:08:30Speaker 8: biggest regrets is abandoning his daughter. And so at first
- 1:08:34Speaker 8: I thought, you know, I know him. Give it a month,
- 1:08:37Speaker 8: he'll disappear. But he hasn't. And yeah, so now I
- 1:08:41Speaker 8: have this, you know, conundrum. I don't know this issue
- 1:08:44Speaker 8: because it's been well over a year. He's still trying
- 1:08:47Speaker 8: and my daughter still has no idea. So now I'm
- 1:08:51Speaker 8: starting to feel conflicted. Like I've never shown her the letters.
- 1:08:54Speaker 8: I've never told her he's called. My mom knows what's happening,
- 1:08:58Speaker 8: but I've asked her not to say anything. and she hasn't.
- 1:09:01Speaker 8: But I'm struggling with it. But she's eight. I mean,
- 1:09:04Speaker 8: she's a little kid still.
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: We've had something similar to this before, a little bit different. But,
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: I mean, the hard part is I know you're a mom,
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: and you want to protect her. And, you know, of
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: course you have her best interests in mind. So I
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: get why you wouldn't say right away.
- 1:09:22Speaker 3: Yeah, no.
- 1:09:23Speaker 7: I would do the same way.
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: Yeah, you want to protect because... You don't want to
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: get burned. What is this guy? You don't know if
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: he's going to disappear after one call.
- 1:09:31Speaker 3: Yeah, it's not like it's just your feelings on the
- 1:09:34Speaker 3: line now.
- 1:09:34Speaker 7: It's hers too.
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: But what do you do at this point?
- 1:09:37Speaker 3: That's it.
- 1:09:37Speaker 8: I don't know what I'm supposed to do because, I mean,
- 1:09:39Speaker 8: of course, especially someone who's struggled with drugs, I mean,
- 1:09:43Speaker 8: of course he could disappear. What if I brought him
- 1:09:46Speaker 8: back into her life because he says he's changed and
- 1:09:49Speaker 8: I believe him and then I watch her get her
- 1:09:51Speaker 8: heart broken if he disappears again? I mean, then I'd
- 1:09:54Speaker 8: regret that.
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: But, you know, there's also another side of this, too, that's...
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: If he really wants to make it happen, he could
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: get the courts involved. And I and I do see,
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: you know, from the father's standpoint, of course, he does
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: have the right. And I'm not saying he didn't. He
- 1:10:08Speaker 2: did definitely screw up that right when he left.
- 1:10:10Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:10:11Speaker 6: So you can't come in and out. So you do
- 1:10:14Speaker 6: have to prove yourself in my world. You have to
- 1:10:16Speaker 6: prove yourself that you're. You're okay to be around our child.
- 1:10:19Speaker 8: Yeah, and maybe somehow he could prove himself to me first.
- 1:10:23Speaker 8: But he has been trying, you know, I mean, consistently.
- 1:10:27Speaker 8: But she has a dad. She has stability. She's happy.
- 1:10:30Speaker 8: She doesn't even ask about her bio dad or why
- 1:10:34Speaker 8: doesn't he love her. It's not even, like, on her mind. But,
- 1:10:38Speaker 8: you know, she's eight. Like, what happens when she's a teenager?
- 1:10:40Speaker 8: And then what if she gets pissed off and she
- 1:10:43Speaker 8: finds out he did try? Right. What if what happens
- 1:10:46Speaker 8: if she sees the letters someday and then she asks, oh,
- 1:10:50Speaker 8: why didn't you let him see me? And then, you know,
- 1:10:53Speaker 8: I'm the person who stopped it.
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: I can see why you don't trust him is my point.
- 1:10:58Speaker 2: And I'll be honest on a personal level, like, you know,
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: I didn't deal with this exact situation, but I will
- 1:11:02Speaker 2: say that my mom was. At a certain point with
- 1:11:06Speaker 2: my dad kind of leaving and not being in the picture,
- 1:11:08Speaker 2: my mom eventually told me, I don't want to say
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: the truth.
- 1:11:12Speaker 6: She told me enough for me to kind of make
- 1:11:14Speaker 6: sense of it. And the older I got, she would
- 1:11:15Speaker 6: tell me more. She never bad mouthed him. She never
- 1:11:18Speaker 6: talked back. bad about him and he would come around
- 1:11:21Speaker 6: every once in a while. And then I would wonder
- 1:11:23Speaker 6: why he didn't.
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: And she would eventually tell me, well, this is what
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: he deals with. And you know, this is why he doesn't,
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: it has nothing to do with you. And she was
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: honest with me because at that age, I was mature
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: for my age. So I could, I could understand what
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: was happening. I think she handled the right way. It
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: was like, I knew what was happening. I knew he
- 1:11:41Speaker 2: had problems with alcohol when I was a teenager. I
- 1:11:43Speaker 2: realized that, but She didn't tell me that when I
- 1:11:45Speaker 2: was eight.
- 1:11:46Speaker 6: Right.
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: But she told me when I was older and then
- 1:11:47Speaker 2: it all made sense. Yeah. So I think you just
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: got to trust your gut. Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:11:53Speaker 8: Maybe I'll change my mind. It's just hard to think
- 1:11:56Speaker 8: into the future like what might happen.
- 1:11:58Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:11:58Speaker 8: Right.
- 1:11:59Speaker 6: And, you know, if this guy really did change his life,
- 1:12:01Speaker 6: then give him the credit and maybe you do give
- 1:12:03Speaker 6: him a chance.
- 1:12:04Speaker 2: But maybe that's a very slow process.
- 1:12:07Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:12:07Speaker 2: That involves a counselor and a professional and people involved,
- 1:12:11Speaker 2: you know.
- 1:12:12Speaker 8: That's true. Well, thank you, guys. I appreciate your listening
- 1:12:15Speaker 8: and giving ideas.
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: You're welcome. Absolutely. Well, thank you and good luck. And
- 1:12:19Speaker 2: if you get a chance, let us know what happens.
- 1:12:21Speaker 5: Okay.
- 1:12:22Speaker 2: I will.
- 1:12:23Speaker 8: Thank you.
- 1:12:23Speaker 6: Have a good Tuesday.
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: I was going to say have a good Monday, but
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: it's definitely Tuesday. Feels like a Monday.
- 1:12:29Speaker 6: It's Mix 102.9, Ability Kid, Candice Lopez, Producer Poo.
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: We're out of here. We'll see you tomorrow. Candice, what
- 1:12:34Speaker 2: you got going on today?
- 1:12:35Speaker 3: I got to go down the internet and try to
- 1:12:37Speaker 3: find a new hair girl because mine moved away.
- 1:12:39Speaker 2: No.
- 1:12:40Speaker 3: Yeah, I know.
- 1:12:41Speaker 7: I really liked her, too.
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: We could cut your hair.
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: Yeah, I got you, love.
- 1:12:44Speaker 3: My husband Eric always says that because he cuts Enzo's hair.
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: Yeah, why couldn't he cut your hair?
- 1:12:48Speaker 7: I mean, he says he could.
- 1:12:50Speaker 2: I'm sure he could. What do you need?
- 1:12:50Speaker 3: A couple inches off? I might let him.
- 1:12:52Speaker 7: No, I just need a trim.
- 1:12:53Speaker 2: I'll give you some Ella Langley bangs.
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: Not on purpose, though.
- 1:12:57Speaker 3: No, no, please don't.
- 1:12:58Speaker 2: I think Pooh and I, if we really put our
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: minds to it, I think we could cut hair.
- 1:13:01Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:13:02Speaker 3: You do?
- 1:13:03Speaker 5: Why?
- 1:13:03Speaker 7: What makes you think that?
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: Well, at home, I have a Flowbee. Have you ever
- 1:13:06Speaker 2: seen those?
- 1:13:06Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:13:07Speaker 2: Remember the Flowbees? It was that vacuum who has like.
- 1:13:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:13:11Speaker 7: That's for like men's haircuts though, right?
- 1:13:12Speaker 2: That's for any haircut.
- 1:13:14Speaker 5: It is?
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: Yeah. Low? Super accurate.
- 1:13:17Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:13:17Speaker 6: You want to just a couple inches off, you set
- 1:13:19Speaker 6: it to a couple inches, and cut your hair.
- 1:13:22Speaker 3: You're good.
- 1:13:22Speaker 5: Okay.
- 1:13:23Speaker 2: I'll bring it in tomorrow. No mess, no nothing.
- 1:13:25Speaker 3: No, I'll go on Google and find someone.
- 1:13:26Speaker 2: Wow. Yeah.
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: Wow, you trust Google before your boys?
- 1:13:30Speaker 3: Well, yeah, a professional hairstylist, yeah.
- 1:13:32Speaker 6: Well, you're sitting next to Junior who does traffic. They
- 1:13:35Speaker 6: own a whole salon up there.
- 1:13:37Speaker 5: Oh.
- 1:13:37Speaker 2: Yeah, in Denton. What's the name of the salon, Junior?
- 1:13:40Speaker 2: I can go to Denton.
- 1:13:40Speaker 3: That's so far, though.
- 1:13:41Speaker 2: Well, there's one in Northlake, too. It's Denton Color Lab
- 1:13:43Speaker 2: and Northlake Color Lab. Yeah, go see Sherry and the
- 1:13:46Speaker 2: crew over there. Oh, yeah, okay. I mean, how insulting.
- 1:13:49Speaker 7: I'll just go way out of my way.
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: You got the hook up right there.
- 1:13:51Speaker 7: I would like to see Sherry, though.
- 1:13:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
