  Instead, I do think that we we are culturally a Christian

  country. I hold myself a cultural

  Christian. I'm not a believer, but there's

  a distinction between being a believing Christian and being a
• 1:11
  cultural Christian. And so, you know, I I love hymns
• 1:14
  and Christmas carols and I I sort of feel at home in the
• 1:20
  Christian ethos. I feel that we are a Christian
• 1:23
  country in that sense. It's true that statistically the
• 1:27
  number of people who actually believe in Christianity is going
• 1:30
  down. And I I'm happy with that.
• 1:34
  But I would not be happy if, for example, we lost all our
• 1:38
  cathedrals and our beautiful parish churches.

  So I I've count myself a cultural Christian.

  I think it would matter if we certainly, if we substituted any
• 1:48
  alternative religion that would be true, truly dreadful.
• 1:51
  Well, which brings me to to my supplementary point, which is
• 1:54
  that as we know church attendance is plummeting, but
• 1:58
  the building, the erection of mosques across Europe, I think
• 2:01
  6000 are under construction and there are many more, I mean are
• 2:05
  being planned. So do you think you regard that
• 2:09
  as a problem? Do you think that matters?

  Yes, I do. Really.

  I mean, I I, I, I, I don't. I might choose my words
• 2:18
  carefully. I mean, I if I had to choose
• 2:21
  between Christianity and Islam, I choose Christianity every
• 2:23
  single time. I mean, it seems to me to be a
• 2:27
  fundamentally decent religion in a way that I think Islam is not.

  I think you're going to have to explain why you say that,

  Professor Dawkins. Why is Islam, well the?

  Way. Fundamentally not decent like

  Christianity. Yes, I mean the the, the, the
• 2:44
  way women are treated. I mean Christianity is not great
• 2:46
  about that. It's had its problems with
• 2:50
  female vicars and female bishops and things, but there's an
• 2:53
  active hostility to women which is promoted, I think, by the
• 2:57
  holy books of Islam. I'm not talking about individual
• 3:00
  Muslims, who of course are quite quite different, but the but the
• 3:04
  doctrines of Islam, the Hadith and the and the Quran.
• 3:07
  It's fundamentally hostile to women, hostile to gays.

  And I find that I like to live in a culturally Christian
• 3:20
  country, although I do not believe a single word of the
• 3:25
  Christian faith well. Could you imagine working all of
• 3:35
  your life saying all kinds of things?
• 3:38
  Like, for instance, Christianity's a hallucination.
• 3:42
  It's a delusion. It's followed up by mental
• 3:45
  illness, People who believe in crazy stuff, a poison to society
• 3:51
  that you'd be happy in the day, that all the churches crumble
• 3:55
  and everything that religion has brought should be brought to its
• 4:01
  knees and pain and suffering and suffering a slow death.
• 4:07
  And then one day you get your wish.
• 4:09
  You start seeing Christianity die.
• 4:12
  You start seeing it all fall apart.
• 4:15
  You get to see everything that you ever claimed that you wanted
• 4:18
  or desired happening. But then you start realizing, as
• 4:22
  you get older, to the point where you can do nothing more.
• 4:25
  You have no power. Your words fall on deaf ears and
• 4:31
  at this point, everything that you ever wanted you got.
• 4:34
  But then you find yourself in one of those positions where you
• 4:40
  got to watch out what you wish for.
• 4:44
  So now you get to live in a world where you know you have
• 4:47
  very little time to live, and all the things that you thought
• 4:51
  would make the world a better place are going to be removed.
• 4:56
  And you can clearly see that in its place is an emptiness, A
• 5:01
  void, a threat that's even more dangerous than you could even
• 5:05
  imagine. And the whole time you thought
• 5:08
  that you were doing right, but it turns out everything you did
• 5:12
  was wrong. And because of your decisions
• 5:14
  and your choices, you heard a lot of people in the process.
• 5:22
  Does anybody ever feel like that?
• 5:24
  Do you ever feel like you made a whole lot of bad choices in
• 5:28
  life, but at the time you justified them?
• 5:31
  And you said to yourself, I'm doing this for good reason, I'm
• 5:34
  doing this for right reasons. And then whenever it comes down
• 5:38
  to it, you realize that a lot of the good things about you were
• 5:44
  because of these things in society.
• 5:47
  You find that when you tried to erase God and you tried to erase
• 5:53
  religion and you tried to erase churches, in doing so, you
• 5:59
  erased yourself. You erased very big things that
• 6:06
  were going on in this world that you stood for, that made you
• 6:13
  into the person that you are today.
• 6:17
  Because let's face it ladies and gentlemen, besides just Richard
• 6:21
  Dawkins, a lot of you out there wouldn't be the person you are
• 6:26
  today if Christianity hadn't had some kind of change in your life
• 6:31
  or transformed you in some way. Even for the non believers out
• 6:35
  there, if it wasn't for religion, no one would care
• 6:39
  about atheism. Atheism requires the concept of
• 6:44
  God and religion to exist in order for a lot of you to make
• 6:48
  money on your videos, for a lot of you to be popular.
• 6:52
  If you didn't have God to blame everything on, then you didn't
• 6:56
  have religion to point the finger at, well then who are you
• 7:01
  then? Why should anybody care?
• 7:03
  Why should anybody bothered? It's basically like a journalist
• 7:07
  who has nothing to talk about anymore.

  If Tucker Carlson and half your liberal, as well as Republican
• 7:15
  journalists out there and activists, had no news to talk
• 7:19
  about, well, then why bother turning on the TV to look at you
• 7:22
  for right? So religion and the concept of
• 7:29
  God has really done a lot for atheism.
• 7:32
  It's kept atheism in business and the concept of God and
• 7:36
  religion. You know Anton Lavey, the
• 7:40
  founder of the Satanic Church? He once said the devil keeps
• 7:47
  Christianity and religion going. It's required.
• 7:54
  But it's also vice versa, isn't it?
• 7:57
  If there wasn't no God, and there wasn't no Jesus Christ,

  and there never was a Christianity, then Anton Lavey
• 8:04
  and his whole devil worship story, it wouldn't have
• 8:07
  mattered. So he was kept in business.

  Vice versa. You see, it's interesting, the

  Joker once said to Batman. I don't want to kill you.

  I don't want to destroy you. You complete me.

  Without you, I'm nothing. I'm just basically nothing but a

  a shred of a terror of a man, nothing more.

  Some of the things that we think are bad in this world are

  sometimes good for us, and some of the things that we think are
• 8:45
  good for us in the world can also be vice versa.

  We kind of need a Ying to our Yang.

  Or why is life even worth dealing with?

  But it's interesting for Richard Dawkins to say something was

  poison and he wanted to see it go.

  And now suddenly he's calling himself a cultural Christian.

  He's saying he loves looking at the churches he loves, you know,
• 9:11
  the buildings and the beauty that comes off of them, the
• 9:14
  beauty that religion has created.

  Anton Lavey of Satanism said the same thing.

  Because of the concept of God, there's many beautiful things
• 9:26
  such as music, art, and he went off on a list of all these
• 9:30
  things. I kind of growing up, I kind of
• 9:39
  faced the same ordeal. As many of you know, I was a
• 9:44
  former atheist. And I remember whenever my
• 9:47
  children came into this world, especially my son, my first
• 9:51
  child, I got to thinking to myself, you know, I got all
• 9:56
  these opportunities growing up. I got the chance to be a part of
• 10:00
  Christianity. I got a chance to hear about the
• 10:03
  concept of God. I got to hear about a moral
• 10:06
  system, and I got to be told that my life meant something and
• 10:12
  that I had value. But what did atheism give me
• 10:16
  that I could also inherit over to my children?
• 10:21
  What could I tell them that's valuable about them?
• 10:24
  That you're just an evolved being, That you're just a
• 10:27
  creature that evolved properly, that you only exist because my
• 10:32
  genetics wanted to survive? What could I tell them that was
• 10:38
  good about it? The reason why they're suffering
• 10:41
  and pain in the world is because nature said so.
• 10:46
  And the only reason why you're beautiful is because I'm your
• 10:50
  dad, and I think so. It's my subjective opinion,
• 10:57
  Yeah. I remember realizing how much I
• 10:59
  gave away of myself. I realized that I gave up my own
• 11:04
  soul for a good time there. I realized that when it really,
• 11:10
  really comes down to it, I wasn't going to be able to give
• 11:13
  my children any real answers either.

  However, if I had hope, if I had faith, if I held on to some of
• 11:22
  the things of the past, some of those things might offer a
• 11:28
  future for those I love moving forward.

  As far as I was concerned, the position I was in was empty and
• 11:39
  void less. It was basically nihilism.
• 11:50
  So we all have our regrets and we need to really, really think
• 11:56
  about things before we open our mouth, because our words and our
• 11:59
  ideas can actually reconstruct society as we know it.

  Our words are powerful enough. Ideas are powerful enough to
• 12:09
  completely alter reality and make it into a reality.
• 12:15
  It's scary to think about because we like to believe that
• 12:19
  we can just say whatever we want and it won't even matter.
• 12:22
  We like to believe that what we say doesn't really have that
• 12:26
  kind of power, but it does. Interestingly enough, it says
• 12:32
  biblically that God actually created all of reality with mere
• 12:37
  words and just an idea. He thought us up, and he spoke
• 12:44
  us into existence. Well, as many of you know, I've
• 12:52
  been having some serious health issues, and I've really had to
• 12:57
  consider my mortality where my life has been, where it's going,
• 13:03
  and you start realizing that time is a commodity.
• 13:09
  It's something that you can't get back when you're young.
• 13:13
  You you feel like everything is going to go on forever.
• 13:17
  You feel like nothing can affect you, that you're invincible.
• 13:22
  I can assure you it's not. As I make this video right now,
• 13:26
  I'm in a great deal of pain. But one thing that I don't have
• 13:32
  happening right now with me, that that brings me some amount
• 13:37
  of peace and makes me content, is realizing that I was smart
• 13:42
  enough and I had enough love in me and enough substance and
• 13:46
  depth that I was able to change who I was into somebody that I'm
• 13:53
  proud of. Somebody that I can look at in
• 13:57
  the mirror and say there's more to you than just these generic
• 14:02
  statements that atheists make. There's a person with value in
• 14:08
  the universe. I found my position.
• 14:12
  I found my rite of passage. And one day, whenever I take my
• 14:18
  last breath, I shouldn't have any kind of fear whatsoever
• 14:24
  because I know that I did the best I could.
• 14:27
  I tried the best I could, and for those I love, I gave it
• 14:31
  everything I got. I'm going to be taking longer
• 14:36
  and longer breaks, but when I have my moments of clarity and I
• 14:40
  have a little bit of energy, I'll try to put something out
• 14:44
  there every once in a while. Might even do a live show.

  Depends on how I'm feeling, but the health issues are really
• 14:52
  kicking in. I appreciate all of you out
• 14:56
  there that showed me love over the years and showed me support.

  If one day you start noticing that videos aren't going up

  anymore and things aren't being said on my community page or my
• 15:10
  website or things aren't going up on the radio, just know that
• 15:15
  I enjoyed my time with you and that that's the way life is.
