- 0:01Speaker 1: There's this thread I've been pulling on my entire life,
- 0:04Speaker 1: that I believe that there's something that's not necessarily been missed,
- 0:08Speaker 1: but that there is a path that is a true
- 0:10Speaker 1: greatness path of, I'm going to live everything that God's
- 0:14Speaker 1: called me to live. I'm going to truly stand on
- 0:16Speaker 1: his principles, all of his secrets, all of his victories.
- 0:20Speaker 1: There's a path there for us. You do not have
- 0:23Speaker 1: to live the way that the world tells you to live.
- 0:26Speaker 1: You don't have to live under the power of sin.
- 0:28Speaker 1: That's exactly why Christ died on the cross. So when
- 0:31Speaker 1: you put all of these things together and understand that
- 0:33Speaker 1: God has a plan for you, there is.
- 0:35Speaker 2: A way where you can be inevitable. That's impossible. Let
- 0:40Speaker 2: me tell you what I believe. Your weakness is not
- 0:44Speaker 2: your technique. Don't think you are. Know you are. The
- 0:51Speaker 2: Impossible Life Podcast. You're sitting on a winning lottery ticket.
- 0:55Speaker 2: An idea that is fully formed, fully understood.
- 0:58Speaker 1: That sticks. This is the impossible life podcast because Nick
- 1:05Speaker 1: and I are attempting to live impossible lives. What we
- 1:08Speaker 1: know is that nothing is impossible. So instead of using
- 1:12Speaker 1: impossible as an excuse to not try, we'll use the
- 1:16Speaker 1: pursuit of impossible as an accelerant for greatness. If something's
- 1:20Speaker 1: never been done before, that just means it's unexplored.
- 1:24Speaker 2: If they tell you it's too hard, it's just.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Waiting to be simplified. Impossible is a default label used
- 1:31Speaker 1: by uncourageous people, unwilling to take a risk.
- 1:35Speaker 2: The real truth is this.
- 1:37Speaker 1: The solution to any impossible task starts with this question.
- 1:42Speaker 2: If I had to, what would it take? Welcome to
- 1:49Speaker 2: another episode of the Impossible Life Podcast. I'm your co-host,
- 1:51Speaker 2: Nick Surface, and I'm looking across at the most well-rounded
- 1:54Speaker 2: man in the world. That's right, friends, the former Navy SEAL,
- 2:01Speaker 2: Garrett Unklebach, a man who's had more introductions than the
- 2:04Speaker 2: President of the United States. I was just sitting here thinking, gee,
- 2:08Speaker 2: here we are.
- 2:08Speaker 1: I don't know if that's true, but it is a
- 2:10Speaker 1: lot of introductions.
- 2:11Speaker 2: A lot of introductions. I'm the one who's done them all,
- 2:14Speaker 2: so there we go.
- 2:15Speaker 1: It's funny when people who are new... So you did
- 2:19Speaker 1: it on the very first episode, right?
- 2:20Speaker 2: I did not. No, I think it was like episode
- 2:23Speaker 2: 10 or 11. We asked listeners this one time, and they.
- 2:26Speaker 1: Came back and told us. So you've got 320-something intros.
- 2:29Speaker 1: For sure. Yeah, it's one of the funny things. People
- 2:32Speaker 1: who are new, like, have you done this the whole time?
- 2:34Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, yeah.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Go listen to all of them.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Why are we talking about that, G? Because this is
- 2:37Speaker 2: five years for us. Five years.
- 2:39Speaker 1: So Nick sent this morning. Nick's at my house very
- 2:43Speaker 1: early on a Friday morning. But before Nick came over,
- 2:45Speaker 1: he sent me the YouTube video of of episode one.
- 2:49Speaker 1: And I don't think Nick noticed because this is not
- 2:52Speaker 1: his greatest strong suit, but I'm wearing the exact same
- 2:56Speaker 1: clothes that I wore in episode one.
- 2:59Speaker 2: I don't think Garrett noticed that I also on purpose
- 3:02Speaker 2: wore the exact same shirt that I was wearing in
- 3:04Speaker 2: episode one. Touche, Mr. Jokey Jokemaker.
- 3:06Speaker 1: It's not the same though. I'm wearing the exact same
- 3:09Speaker 1: pants and the exact same shirt.
- 3:10Speaker 2: Well, all I've learned is that you don't update your
- 3:12Speaker 2: wardrobe very often. I did not pay attention to your pants,
- 3:15Speaker 2: but yeah, good call. I, uh, I'm glad we were
- 3:17Speaker 2: both in the same mindset. Here we are, black shirts,
- 3:20Speaker 2: five years later. So today's episode, man, is going to
- 3:23Speaker 2: be just, we want this to encourage you. The whole
- 3:26Speaker 2: point of today's episode is just, we know that wherever
- 3:29Speaker 2: you're at, that God's got a plan and purpose for
- 3:31Speaker 2: your life and that you pursuing the God-given dreams that
- 3:34Speaker 2: he's given you is key to fulfilling those. And so
- 3:37Speaker 2: we want this to be like rocket fuel for you
- 3:39Speaker 2: because we're looking back at five years, not by any
- 3:43Speaker 2: means taking a pat on the back, but we're looking
- 3:45Speaker 2: at the lessons that we've learned Because it was so
- 3:47Speaker 2: interesting to me. I wanted to get in the right
- 3:49Speaker 2: mindset because we had decided, okay, it's five years. Let's
- 3:52Speaker 2: look back a little bit because this is a little
- 3:54Speaker 2: bit of a moment for us, but also there's a
- 3:56Speaker 2: lot of valuable lessons learned. And so I went back
- 3:59Speaker 2: and listened to episode one while I drove over and
- 4:00Speaker 2: I did it this morning because I wanted to be
- 4:01Speaker 2: in the right mindset. And one of the things we
- 4:03Speaker 2: said in that episode is that if we can cause
- 4:06Speaker 2: even one person to hear something on what we do
- 4:08Speaker 2: with our podcast and it brings a shift forward in
- 4:11Speaker 2: their life, then we'd be happy. That's what we said
- 4:13Speaker 2: that we were there to do is that we wanted
- 4:15Speaker 2: people to just understand and run hard and be hungry.
- 4:19Speaker 2: And we said that in episode one. And did we
- 4:21Speaker 2: say shift? We did say shift.
- 4:22Speaker 1: Because what's funny is, I'm just going to reuse that
- 4:25Speaker 1: exact word, because... You know, what was it, two years later?
- 4:29Speaker 1: Two years later, we wrote down vision, mission. The way
- 4:32Speaker 1: we talk about here on the podcast, we wrote the vision.
- 4:34Speaker 1: It was about a year and a half. It was
- 4:35Speaker 1: almost two years. Yeah, almost two years. So vision, mission, values,
- 4:38Speaker 1: the way we talk about it here on the podcast
- 4:40Speaker 1: and teach it and did that in the PAPA later,
- 4:42Speaker 1: and we'll talk about that here in a second.
- 4:43Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, I see where you're going.
- 4:44Speaker 1: But the vision of the impossible life is to shift
- 4:47Speaker 1: the mindset of what it means to be a godly man. Yeah,
- 4:50Speaker 1: I know.
- 4:50Speaker 2: And so that's what we're about. That's what we'll always
- 4:52Speaker 2: be chasing. But what's so cool is if you would
- 4:55Speaker 2: have said, what's the vision of this podcast? I'm like,
- 4:59Speaker 2: we didn't have it clearly defined, but there was already
- 5:01Speaker 2: the seeds in it. And that's what I think is
- 5:02Speaker 2: so cool is God's always working, and he's already planted
- 5:05Speaker 2: the seeds and put things in place. And then when
- 5:07Speaker 2: they pop up out of the ground, we're like, oh, wow,
- 5:09Speaker 2: look at that. And he's like, yeah, I've had that there.
- 5:11Speaker 2: I know, dummy.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:13Speaker 2: Well, he's not you. He doesn't say dummy. He's a
- 5:15Speaker 2: lot kinder.
- 5:16Speaker 1: It's the subtext, you know, like when.
- 5:18Speaker 2: Maybe in your mind.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Like when God tells, you know, Moses, I'm going to
- 5:22Speaker 1: use you to lead my people out of Israel. Like
- 5:25Speaker 1: God just shows them like, hey, man, here's the plan. Yeah.
- 5:30Speaker 2: Right. Well, I mean, you're reading your own lens into
- 5:33Speaker 2: that quite a bit there, but praise the Lord. So
- 5:35Speaker 2: as we're going here, you say this, if you listen
- 5:38Speaker 2: to the intro of our podcast, the key part, and
- 5:40Speaker 2: I've had people quote this back to me and I
- 5:42Speaker 2: love that, is if I had to, what would it take?
- 5:46Speaker 1: What would it take?
- 5:47Speaker 2: And so you have a, there's something in you. There's
- 5:50Speaker 2: some God-given dream in you. What do you actually think
- 5:53Speaker 2: it's going to take to get there? Because we're going
- 5:55Speaker 2: to give some lessons. I will just say that we
- 5:58Speaker 2: are not always great at estimating. And I'm saying that
- 6:01Speaker 2: very lightly. We're terrible at estimating. But if you had to,
- 6:04Speaker 2: what would it take? because God has put you on
- 6:07Speaker 2: here for a reason. And there's something in you. You
- 6:09Speaker 2: may not have it as clear as you think it is.
- 6:11Speaker 2: You may not know all the steps. You definitely don't
- 6:13Speaker 2: know all the steps. You probably don't even have full
- 6:15Speaker 2: clarity on what it is, but there's just something in
- 6:16Speaker 2: you that you want more. That was our first episode
- 6:18Speaker 2: is there's more life. Well, good. So give you a
- 6:21Speaker 2: little bit of timeline.
- 6:22Speaker 1: The right follow-up question to when Jesus said, follow me,
- 6:29Speaker 1: the disciples didn't say, well, how long is it going
- 6:32Speaker 1: to take? Yeah.
- 6:32Speaker 2: Well, how far are we going? Right.
- 6:34Speaker 1: They just said, okay, we'll follow you.
- 6:36Speaker 2: Well, other people did ask him those questions.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Right. Yeah.
- 6:39Speaker 2: And it was like, all right, you're not ready.
- 6:41Speaker 1: But hold on a second. I got to go do
- 6:43Speaker 1: this thing really quick.
- 6:44Speaker 2: Yeah. So, G, I want to give people some, you know,
- 6:47Speaker 2: I remember when Cody Bobay was on here and he
- 6:49Speaker 2: talked about when he first released SoulCon, he said he
- 6:52Speaker 2: sold 16 copies the first day that he released it.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Winning. Yeah.
- 6:56Speaker 2: And now it's like one of the best selling Christian
- 6:58Speaker 2: men's books of all time. So our episode one was
- 7:01Speaker 2: released on September 2nd, 2021. And like I said, I
- 7:04Speaker 2: want to be very clear. The sole purpose of this
- 7:06Speaker 2: episode is to encourage you to pursue as you're pursuing
- 7:09Speaker 2: the God-given dream in your heart. Like that's really all
- 7:12Speaker 2: we want for this episode. So we're going to give
- 7:13Speaker 2: you a little bit of perspective about where we're at
- 7:15Speaker 2: and where we've been. So episode one, we released it
- 7:18Speaker 2: September 2nd, 2021. We were full of fury. Still at
- 7:22Speaker 2: your house, still wearing the same shirts. And we had,
- 7:25Speaker 2: how many plays do we get on day one on Spotify, G?
- 7:28Speaker 2: We got the donut. Winning. We got zero plays. Winning. Okay.
- 7:31Speaker 2: So zero plays on Spotify.
- 7:33Speaker 1: Just understand. Maybe you've got a dream. Yes. Maybe there's
- 7:37Speaker 1: something that you want to do with your life. Maybe
- 7:39Speaker 1: there's this idea that you have. People do this all
- 7:42Speaker 1: the time. You put in all the, Hey man, we're
- 7:44Speaker 1: going to start a podcast. We're going to start this business.
- 7:47Speaker 1: I'm going to write a book.
- 7:47Speaker 2: It's whatever it is.
- 7:49Speaker 1: You think about all these things and you put in
- 7:52Speaker 1: all this effort just to get to day one. And
- 7:54Speaker 1: then Because there's all the work that happens before day one.
- 7:56Speaker 1: Then day one happens and nobody cares.
- 7:59Speaker 2: Right. And this was me. So I had bought gear.
- 8:01Speaker 2: I had planned. That gear failed me famously on episode two,
- 8:06Speaker 2: which shout out to the listener that reached out and
- 8:08Speaker 2: told me that I could AI correct that now. And
- 8:10Speaker 2: I was like, you know, I'm going to leave it
- 8:11Speaker 2: in there because I think it's part of our history.
- 8:13Speaker 2: But so zero plays. Now by 30 days, G, this
- 8:16Speaker 2: is where we really hit it big. We had 60
- 8:19Speaker 2: plays on Spotify. And what I want to say to
- 8:21Speaker 2: people out there, the average podcast, this is according to Buzzsprout,
- 8:24Speaker 2: which is a podcast hosting platform we used. The average
- 8:27Speaker 2: podcast gets 27 downloads of an episode in the first
- 8:31Speaker 2: 30 days. That's average. So like we, little do we know,
- 8:35Speaker 2: and I can assure you, we didn't feel it. we
- 8:38Speaker 2: were double average by the first month, and it felt terrible.
- 8:41Speaker 2: Because we recorded multiple episodes, we released them, we're doing
- 8:45Speaker 2: the work. But don't worry, because we did that work
- 8:47Speaker 2: consistently for a year, and you know what that led to?
- 8:49Speaker 2: 493 plays total of the first episode.
- 8:53Speaker 1: At the end of year one, we were at 493. Yeah. Wow.
- 8:56Speaker 2: And so I really want to put that in perspective.
- 8:59Speaker 1: And I just, this is not patting myself on the
- 9:02Speaker 1: back here, I just say this also to say, not
- 9:04Speaker 1: everyone who starts a podcast... has the platform of being
- 9:07Speaker 1: a Navy SEAL.
- 9:08Speaker 2: Right. Right.
- 9:09Speaker 1: But regardless of what you think that, that is, that
- 9:12Speaker 1: is known recognition, credibility that should make people like want
- 9:15Speaker 1: to listen to a podcast.
- 9:17Speaker 2: Right. And we put in all this effort.
- 9:19Speaker 1: You see where we are today and it's, and we're,
- 9:23Speaker 1: some of what we're talking about today is where we
- 9:24Speaker 1: are today is we were, we're doing the same thing
- 9:28Speaker 1: running after the same race. We didn't like, there's lessons learned,
- 9:31Speaker 1: but we're on the same principles, the same beliefs, same
- 9:33Speaker 1: mindset as we had in the beginning. And after one year,
- 9:36Speaker 1: 493 plays on.
- 9:38Speaker 2: The first episode. Yeah, it's insane. And I'll just say,
- 9:41Speaker 2: we're not speaking from a place that we feel we've
- 9:43Speaker 2: made it. I want to make sure that we're really
- 9:45Speaker 2: clear on that because we are not even close to
- 9:47Speaker 2: being satisfied, feel like we've run our race. Like I
- 9:51Speaker 2: was driving the other day, G, and I really felt
- 9:53Speaker 2: the Holy Spirit prompt me and just say, you're early
- 9:55Speaker 2: in your training. And when I heard that, it got
- 9:57Speaker 2: me excited. It genuinely got me really excited. I was like,
- 10:00Speaker 2: thank you, Lord. Because I don't think of myself as
- 10:04Speaker 2: having made it or attained anything. I'm like, dude, we're
- 10:07Speaker 2: nowhere near where we should be. And this is a
- 10:09Speaker 2: dangerous thought process, but where we should be. That's the
- 10:13Speaker 2: way we felt on day one. It's the day we
- 10:15Speaker 2: feel on day five year, whatever that would be in math.
- 10:18Speaker 2: I'm sure you could quickly work out and include leap
- 10:20Speaker 2: years and tell me the exact date.
- 10:21Speaker 1: And so we're going to get to some lessons learned
- 10:22Speaker 1: here in a second, but just hang tight with us
- 10:24Speaker 1: while we finish telling this story of progress. Okay, so
- 10:28Speaker 1: day one, zero plays. Day 30, 60. End of the year, 493.
- 10:33Speaker 1: And that's 48 episodes later. We'd had a Super Bowl champion,
- 10:37Speaker 1: Steve Weatherford, on. So we'd actually put some effort in.
- 10:40Speaker 2: We had... Jason Poston was our first ever guest. He's
- 10:43Speaker 2: got a million followers on Instagram. He's an IBBF bodybuilding champion.
- 10:47Speaker 2: So like we did some things that you'd be like, oh,
- 10:49Speaker 2: this should boost us. And with all that, and we
- 10:51Speaker 2: were consistent because the average podcast only puts out six episodes.
- 10:54Speaker 2: We were consistent and we, for a year, and it
- 10:57Speaker 2: got us to 493 plays of that one episode. Hallelujah.
- 11:00Speaker 2: We did an ice bath on January 29th of 2022,
- 11:04Speaker 2: which was like four months or yeah, four months plus
- 11:07Speaker 2: after we'd started the podcast and And we had a
- 11:10Speaker 2: grand total of our first Ice Path G, we had
- 11:12Speaker 2: 12 people. And one of those was research assistant Zach,
- 11:16Speaker 2: who was like your paid assistant. So really we had
- 11:19Speaker 2: 11 people that showed up to that first one. So
- 11:22Speaker 2: we're really killing it. And I'll say this because I've
- 11:25Speaker 2: mentioned it on other podcasts, but I remember I looked
- 11:27Speaker 2: at you and I said, should we just cancel it?
- 11:28Speaker 2: Because to me, I was like, this isn't even worth it.
- 11:30Speaker 2: And you looked at me and you said, faithful over little,
- 11:32Speaker 2: ruler over much. And you said, we're going to do
- 11:34Speaker 2: this to level 10. We lost money on that. We
- 11:36Speaker 2: paid for shirts out of our own pocket. We paid
- 11:38Speaker 2: for really nice card stock out of our own pocket.
- 11:40Speaker 2: We did the exact same thing we do now at
- 11:42Speaker 2: ice baths back then. And it was just, it cost us,
- 11:46Speaker 2: it cost us to do it because we couldn't even
- 11:47Speaker 2: cover the cost of the event. And I laugh at that,
- 11:50Speaker 2: but that faithful over little rule over much lesson, we're
- 11:54Speaker 2: not getting into lessons yet, but man, if I could
- 11:56Speaker 2: say there's been one thing I've learned from the podcast,
- 11:58Speaker 2: that is 100% it. is the faithfulness thought process of
- 12:02Speaker 2: I'm just going to do what's right today. I say
- 12:04Speaker 2: that to my business partner, my production company all the time.
- 12:06Speaker 2: I go faithful over little, rule over much. Because every
- 12:09Speaker 2: single thing we do is not about that thing. It's
- 12:11Speaker 2: a door to unlock the next if you view it
- 12:14Speaker 2: that way.
- 12:14Speaker 1: That's right.
- 12:15Speaker 2: And if you half-step it, guess what? That door stays locked.
- 12:17Speaker 2: And if you're excellent, man, it's amazing how the doors
- 12:19Speaker 2: can open. So to just stick with the ice bath,
- 12:23Speaker 2: it was 2023, we had 70 people, which is a
- 12:26Speaker 2: huge growth. That's like 5X. 2024, we doubled again, 133. 2025,
- 12:31Speaker 2: we only went to 150. So we're currently but still,
- 12:34Speaker 2: this is we also shifted it from a random day
- 12:37Speaker 2: in January to the first of the year at 6am.
- 12:40Speaker 2: So you ask how many people want to wake up
- 12:43Speaker 2: to get in cold water at 6am on the first
- 12:44Speaker 2: of the year, only those who are about it. Only
- 12:46Speaker 2: those who are about it. But I give those numbers
- 12:48Speaker 2: because it's like, man, it's really growth. And those are
- 12:50Speaker 2: some of my favorite things that we do because I
- 12:52Speaker 2: always just leave going like, man, look at all. It's
- 12:54Speaker 2: just such a.
- 12:56Speaker 1: It's just a magnified version of every time you ice
- 12:58Speaker 1: bath on your own. Man, I don't really want to
- 12:59Speaker 1: do this.
- 13:00Speaker 2: Right.
- 13:00Speaker 1: And then after you do it, man, I'm so glad.
- 13:02Speaker 2: I did that. Yeah, but when you do... That's the
- 13:03Speaker 2: easiest ice bath you'll ever take with 100 plus people. Oh,
- 13:05Speaker 2: it is the easiest one for sure. I never... I'm
- 13:07Speaker 2: always like, no matter how bad it gets, in the
- 13:09Speaker 2: one year it was so bad my feet were numb.
- 13:12Speaker 2: And that's my favorite year, by the way. but like
- 13:14Speaker 2: it was, it was great because we all suffer together
- 13:16Speaker 2: and you have a great saying about that from the
- 13:18Speaker 2: SEAL team is about eating a turd sandwich to put
- 13:20Speaker 2: it nicely.
- 13:21Speaker 1: Best, best part about a team is you don't have
- 13:23Speaker 1: to eat a crap sandwich by yourself.
- 13:24Speaker 2: There you go. Edited for Christianity right there because they
- 13:27Speaker 2: do not say crap. Anyways, so looking at the timeline,
- 13:31Speaker 2: so Mindset Mastery, we then launch in July of 2023.
- 13:34Speaker 2: Like we've been going for a year and almost two years.
- 13:37Speaker 1: And for those who don't, Mindset Mastery, it's a parallel
- 13:40Speaker 1: program that we run, you know, alongside The Impossible Life. Some,
- 13:43Speaker 1: you know, You may have heard some of our ads
- 13:46Speaker 1: on it before, or maybe you have no idea what
- 13:47Speaker 1: we're talking about. It's something we reference all the time.
- 13:49Speaker 1: 12 topics out of the podcast that it's like, these
- 13:53Speaker 1: are the core things we teach on. And if you want,
- 13:55Speaker 1: you know, the podcast is free. Mindset Mastery is not.
- 13:58Speaker 1: And the podcast is... you know, a lot more, we
- 14:01Speaker 1: share a lot more personal references and anecdote. Like if
- 14:03Speaker 1: you want the college class of the things that we
- 14:06Speaker 1: teach here on the podcast.
- 14:08Speaker 2: It's Mindset Mastery.
- 14:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:09Speaker 2: I mean, Mindset Mastery is where we give you the
- 14:10Speaker 2: 12 tools that ultimately we use all the time. I
- 14:13Speaker 2: basically asked the question of Garrett, if I had to
- 14:14Speaker 2: download your brain into somebody else's, what would you do?
- 14:18Speaker 2: And he sat there and thought, well, we locked ourselves
- 14:19Speaker 2: in an Airbnb for about 48 hours, literally didn't go anywhere.
- 14:23Speaker 2: And we came up, mostly you, with these 12 topics.
- 14:27Speaker 2: And that was, and they're the things we talk about
- 14:29Speaker 2: all the time, but this is where we actually go like,
- 14:31Speaker 2: let me go deep and show you this tool, how
- 14:33Speaker 2: to use it, what it can do. And like, that's
- 14:35Speaker 2: what mindset mastery is. So we launched that on July
- 14:37Speaker 2: of 2023. And because we're the impossible life, we said, Hey,
- 14:40Speaker 2: let's make it hard. Let's make the call at 5.00 AM,
- 14:43Speaker 2: which was hard for us. I remember I'd get to
- 14:44Speaker 2: your house at like, I'd wake up at four to
- 14:46Speaker 2: get to your house at four 30. Cause we'd set
- 14:48Speaker 2: everything up and you're just trying to wake up. And
- 14:50Speaker 2: I'm like, Oh my gosh, we're going to about to
- 14:51Speaker 2: deliver a live teaching at 5.00 AM. So we had
- 14:54Speaker 2: 133 people sign up to be with us since day zero.
- 14:58Speaker 2: And 78 people turned up at 5 a.m. I remember
- 15:01Speaker 2: Pierce was like, I can't believe you got that many
- 15:03Speaker 2: people to show up at that time in the morning.
- 15:06Speaker 2: And we were just like bleary-eyed and just going for it. And, man,
- 15:09Speaker 2: I didn't even have a beard back then.
- 15:11Speaker 1: You look like way more of a man now.
- 15:14Speaker 2: And then in January of 2024, I've gotten very good
- 15:18Speaker 2: at ignoring you. Uh, in January of 2024, we lost,
- 15:21Speaker 2: we launched our purpose driven profit accelerator. Like in 2024,
- 15:23Speaker 2: we pushed a lot towards the podcast. I'm just, why
- 15:27Speaker 2: am I telling you all this? I'm giving you this
- 15:28Speaker 2: because I just want you to see the lesson of
- 15:29Speaker 2: progression and how things have changed and just give you
- 15:33Speaker 2: a little bit of an idea of what it's been
- 15:35Speaker 2: like to, and the things we've done, the things that, uh,
- 15:38Speaker 2: God's developed. And the thing that I think one of
- 15:41Speaker 2: the key lessons in this is that, you know, I
- 15:43Speaker 2: think sometimes people look at us and they think we've
- 15:45Speaker 2: just gotten everything right and everything worked out the way
- 15:47Speaker 2: we thought it would be. And I would say that nothing, literally,
- 15:50Speaker 2: I don't think there's one thing you've, you've shared this before.
- 15:52Speaker 2: We've never hit a target. We set ever, ever. Well,
- 15:56Speaker 2: we didn't hit the bullseye of the target. Right. But
- 15:58Speaker 2: you know what I mean? Like, and when I say
- 15:59Speaker 2: a target, it's like, Hey, we wanted to launch with
- 16:01Speaker 2: this and we always fall short or man, we really
- 16:04Speaker 2: thought we could get this many people. And we didn't
- 16:05Speaker 2: quite set ambitious goals. That's exactly right. We set ambitious goals,
- 16:08Speaker 2: but we've fallen short. But the point is, is that
- 16:09Speaker 2: you keep going, you keep growing. So our Purpose Driven
- 16:12Speaker 2: Profit Accelerator, we ended up working with 11 different businesses.
- 16:16Speaker 2: We launched that in January of 2024. This is where
- 16:19Speaker 2: we gave them, so interesting, that we gave these people
- 16:22Speaker 2: the five forces, which we have a podcast on this
- 16:25Speaker 2: that you can go listen to for free, the five
- 16:26Speaker 2: forces that shape culture and its vision, mission, values, principles,
- 16:30Speaker 2: and ethos. And we work with these companies. You worked
- 16:33Speaker 2: with them on that side, and I worked with them
- 16:34Speaker 2: on the marketing side. And we basically invested into these companies.
- 16:37Speaker 2: Some of these people are still very close friends of ours.
- 16:39Speaker 2: And I will say that it's so awesome to see
- 16:41Speaker 2: how much those companies have grown.
- 16:43Speaker 1: A couple of these people have doubled and tripled their business.
- 16:46Speaker 2: All the people that we are still very close to have.
- 16:49Speaker 2: So it was, and this is the same five forces
- 16:51Speaker 2: that you're using now to build a multi-billion dollar company.
- 16:54Speaker 1: That's right.
- 16:54Speaker 2: And so that's a little gem. I'm going to go
- 16:56Speaker 2: ahead and say you. Well, give, I mean, Mindset Mastery, amazing.
- 17:00Speaker 1: PDPA, amazing.
- 17:01Speaker 2: Amazing.
- 17:01Speaker 1: And these are just, again, these are little snapshots and
- 17:03Speaker 1: little nuggets of where we were along the way from
- 17:05Speaker 1: where we started. But give us the, you know, give
- 17:10Speaker 1: us the real numbers from, you know, day one to
- 17:12Speaker 1: where we are today.
- 17:13Speaker 2: Right. And then we launched Legacy Navigators in June of 2024,
- 17:15Speaker 2: which I don't know if we'll be able to do
- 17:17Speaker 2: that again just because of.
- 17:18Speaker 1: A day will come again, but it's not next year.
- 17:21Speaker 2: We took a bunch of people out to where they
- 17:22Speaker 2: do the third phase of BUDS, and you taught them
- 17:24Speaker 2: how to navigate. Oh, I love it.
- 17:25Speaker 1: Fathers and sons. I really loved that. We will do
- 17:27Speaker 1: it again. I just don't know when.
- 17:28Speaker 2: That was a dream trip for you. Okay, so to
- 17:30Speaker 2: say all that to say, so we've launched programs, we've
- 17:32Speaker 2: been at this, we've been putting it all in. By
- 17:34Speaker 2: the way, this is what we do on the side.
- 17:37Speaker 2: Like you and I, we pay for our lives and
- 17:39Speaker 2: our families not with the podcast at all. Yeah, so anyways,
- 17:44Speaker 2: I look at that. So we go from 60 on
- 17:47Speaker 2: Spotify in the first month for episode one to 493
- 17:50Speaker 2: plays total in the first year to, you know, if
- 17:54Speaker 2: you look at our hockey stick, it's crazy. At this point,
- 17:57Speaker 2: that episode now has 25,000 which is a lot more
- 18:00Speaker 2: than 493. Episode one. Just episode one on its own.
- 18:03Speaker 2: And then I look at like overall, we're at 2.7
- 18:05Speaker 2: million across Apple and Spotify, which is.
- 18:08Speaker 1: Yeah, so 2.7 million total plays across everything. But then
- 18:12Speaker 1: you were also saying, right? So at the end of day...
- 18:15Speaker 1: From when we first started, at the end of day 30,
- 18:17Speaker 1: we had 60 plays for.
- 18:19Speaker 1: Whatever podcast episode just launched 30 days ago, like for
- 18:23Speaker 1: right now, how many plays does that have?
- 18:26Speaker 2: Just on Spotify, you'll be looking.
- 18:28Speaker 1: I mean, it depends.
- 18:28Speaker 2: There's a range, but it'll be anywhere from like 4,000
- 18:30Speaker 2: to 8,000. And so what used to take us years,
- 18:34Speaker 2: I mean, honestly, in those things, we'll get them in
- 18:36Speaker 2: the first hour. We will outperform what we did in
- 18:39Speaker 2: a year in the first hour now, which is crazy
- 18:43Speaker 2: to say. But at the same time, I didn't feel
- 18:45Speaker 2: satisfied with it then, I don't feel satisfied.
- 18:48Speaker 1: With it now.
- 18:49Speaker 2: No, we're not. And I don't know that we ever
- 18:50Speaker 2: will be. But like what's changed? Man, so much has changed.
- 18:55Speaker 2: And at the same time, like you said, so much
- 18:56Speaker 2: has stayed consistent and stayed with us. I mean, I
- 18:59Speaker 2: look at what's changed. Our process is the exact same,
- 19:02Speaker 2: but we're a lot faster at it. Like it would
- 19:05Speaker 2: take us four hours to prepare for a podcast. We're
- 19:07Speaker 2: better at it.
- 19:08Speaker 1: And I would say it's like some of the stuff
- 19:11Speaker 1: that today, it's so what one of the ways the
- 19:14Speaker 1: podcast has been very valuable to me And we're going
- 19:17Speaker 1: to get into really the key lessons learned from, you know,
- 19:20Speaker 1: for all of this. We're going to share that here
- 19:21Speaker 1: in just a second. But one of the really big
- 19:24Speaker 1: values that the podcast has been to me, it's like
- 19:26Speaker 1: so much of the stuff that we talk about today,
- 19:28Speaker 1: this has been in me for a long time, but
- 19:30Speaker 1: it helped me articulate it. And once you articulate it,
- 19:33Speaker 1: then you can build on it. And what used to
- 19:35Speaker 1: be subconscious to me is very conscious and is now,
- 19:40Speaker 1: you know, and I've built on top of that. and
- 19:42Speaker 1: now we've built all these programs and systems and the
- 19:45Speaker 1: entire podcast is cumulative. That's why it is one of
- 19:49Speaker 1: the things I'm proud of about the podcast. Most other
- 19:52Speaker 1: podcasts that you listen to, and there's some other ones
- 19:55Speaker 1: that I listen to, it's like, oh, well, there's a
- 19:56Speaker 1: great topic or there's a great guest. But of one
- 20:00Speaker 1: of the podcasts that I like to listen to, they
- 20:03Speaker 1: have almost 1,000 episodes. I've maybe listened to 20. Because
- 20:08Speaker 1: when something comes out that I really like, I'll listen
- 20:10Speaker 1: to it. Versus with this podcast, because everything is cumulative
- 20:14Speaker 1: and is built on top of it. Well, we have
- 20:16Speaker 1: so many people who come to this show and they
- 20:18Speaker 1: listen to 10 episodes. They're like, well, I got to
- 20:20Speaker 1: listen to all of it. And they go all the
- 20:21Speaker 1: way back to the beginning to listen through. And that's
- 20:24Speaker 1: one of the things that I'm proud of. The point
- 20:26Speaker 1: that I was making is what the podcast has allowed
- 20:28Speaker 1: us to do is We've grown so much. It's developed in,
- 20:32Speaker 1: it's developed in us. It's developed me. It's developed you
- 20:35Speaker 1: a ton. You, you know, Nick looks a lot different.
- 20:39Speaker 1: I would also say better than he did when he started.
- 20:41Speaker 1: I felt like this morning when I looked in the mirror,
- 20:43Speaker 1: I was like, I did my hair. Like, like I
- 20:46Speaker 1: looked then like you look way different.
- 20:47Speaker 2: Yeah. I probably look more different than you look different.
- 20:50Speaker 2: I look different, but you look more different. I do
- 20:52Speaker 2: look more different. I mean, there's a, I've had a
- 20:55Speaker 2: lot more muscle. I have a beard. and I'm more tanned.
- 20:58Speaker 2: So I will not have the exact same.
- 21:00Speaker 1: For once, I'll just hold my comment and let you
- 21:01Speaker 1: have that.
- 21:03Speaker 2: Okay. Let's just keep going. So what's not changed is
- 21:06Speaker 2: you giving me a large ration of grief.
- 21:08Speaker 1: At any given point. Hazing is sometimes an effective method.
- 21:12Speaker 2: Sometimes. And it's all down to the person that's being
- 21:14Speaker 2: hazed to decide how they're going to take it. That's
- 21:16Speaker 2: exactly right. And I take it as fuel. So praise
- 21:18Speaker 2: the Lord. So, I mean, we've changed hosting platforms. Us ourselves,
- 21:21Speaker 2: we've changed. Like, the level of biblical teaching. I remember, like,
- 21:24Speaker 2: when we first started out, like, we really, you know,
- 21:26Speaker 2: we wanted to help people grow, and it was definitely, like,
- 21:28Speaker 2: elite mindset, like, based on the Bible. And I think
- 21:30Speaker 2: we've just, we know we're called to serve people who
- 21:33Speaker 2: follow after Christ, and, like, we want people to just
- 21:38Speaker 2: be more hungry.
- 21:39Speaker 1: I would say, for me personally, my faith has just gotten,
- 21:41Speaker 1: you know, five years ago, I was leading Mighty Men still. Right.
- 21:44Speaker 1: But my faith has just gotten louder, and I would
- 21:46Speaker 1: say in the public arena. of, you know, I was
- 21:51Speaker 1: never holding back, but I would just say, you know,
- 21:53Speaker 1: I'm yelling louder at this point about it. Like, here's
- 21:56Speaker 1: what I have seen.
- 21:56Speaker 2: It's, it's your testimony.
- 21:58Speaker 1: It's, it's what God, when, when you've seen what God
- 22:00Speaker 1: has done and when I've lived a life based on
- 22:03Speaker 1: scripture and not just as a church person, but as a,
- 22:07Speaker 1: as a, as a man and as a business person
- 22:09Speaker 1: lived a life based upon scripture, how can you not
- 22:12Speaker 1: share that with people?
- 22:13Speaker 2: Yeah. This is truly what I believe. Yeah.
- 22:15Speaker 1: This is, and I have great lessons that I learned
- 22:18Speaker 1: from the SEAL team's but I can connect all of
- 22:20Speaker 1: those things to scripture. Yeah. Yeah.
- 22:22Speaker 2: So good. Well, let's get, we've got, we've got three
- 22:24Speaker 2: lessons that we want to give to you.
- 22:25Speaker 1: And this is, this is lessons when we thought about this,
- 22:29Speaker 1: this is lessons that we learned specifically from the podcast
- 22:32Speaker 1: and this journey, right? Cause anything you do in life
- 22:35Speaker 1: that is worth doing, it's going to take more than
- 22:37Speaker 1: you thought it was going to take. It's going to
- 22:39Speaker 1: take longer than you thought it was going to take.
- 22:41Speaker 1: And the podcast has been one of those, even though
- 22:43Speaker 1: Nick and I don't feel like we've made it yet
- 22:45Speaker 1: with the podcast, There is great testimony of how much
- 22:48Speaker 1: this podcast has helped people. Our inbox is full of it.
- 22:51Speaker 1: We know people personally, and Nick and I have grown
- 22:53Speaker 1: from it.
- 22:54Speaker 2: We've seen it.
- 22:54Speaker 1: We're not denying that there isn't great fruit there. But
- 22:57Speaker 1: when you've built something like this, and it's taken five
- 23:01Speaker 1: years to get to this point, what we did is
- 23:03Speaker 1: we looked back and we say, man, what did we learn?
- 23:05Speaker 2: What has worked?
- 23:07Speaker 1: Not just in our lives, but specifically, what has the
- 23:09Speaker 1: podcast taught us? So that's what we're going to share today.
- 23:11Speaker 2: Yeah, and I want to give this for people before
- 23:12Speaker 2: we start because you talked about this. And because I
- 23:15Speaker 2: listened to it, it's so fresh in my mind. One
- 23:17Speaker 2: of the things that I want people to understand is
- 23:19Speaker 2: you're going to have a lot of doubts. And you
- 23:22Speaker 2: said this earlier about how you were a Navy SEAL,
- 23:25Speaker 2: so you at least had a title. And one of
- 23:27Speaker 2: the things I struggled with, and I've talked to other people,
- 23:29Speaker 2: is one of the hardest things to do is to
- 23:32Speaker 2: market yourself. why should someone care what you have to say?
- 23:35Speaker 2: Or whatever you're doing, why you? And that is a
- 23:39Speaker 2: question that will eat at you. And a lot of
- 23:41Speaker 2: people will call it imposter syndrome. People will like have
- 23:44Speaker 2: identity crisis or whatever you want to say. And what
- 23:46Speaker 2: I'll tell you is when we first started out, I
- 23:50Speaker 2: went back and listened to it. And realistically, I remember
- 23:52Speaker 2: on the first episode, I pitched you because you were
- 23:55Speaker 2: the only person that I thought was like the reason
- 23:56Speaker 2: why anybody should listen to the podcast. And I was right.
- 23:59Speaker 2: I didn't have a lot to say that would have
- 24:01Speaker 2: been something that people should have listened to, but I
- 24:03Speaker 2: knew I was hungry, and I heard God say, and
- 24:07Speaker 2: this is the most important part of it, if God
- 24:09Speaker 2: tells you to go, don't stop and try and qualify yourself.
- 24:13Speaker 2: Just start.
- 24:14Speaker 1: And what were some of the conversations we had back
- 24:16Speaker 1: then as you started to grow and really change and
- 24:20Speaker 1: receive the fruit of it? We would talk about it,
- 24:22Speaker 1: and not that you were frustrated, you were just asking
- 24:24Speaker 1: me the question, why don't people see that yet? And
- 24:27Speaker 1: what I would tell you is just keep going.
- 24:29Speaker 2: They will. Right. And that's exactly the conversations is, is,
- 24:32Speaker 2: you know, you're always going to see it first. And
- 24:33Speaker 2: so I just want to encourage you, if you're the
- 24:35Speaker 2: person that has tons of doubt, just, just take action.
- 24:38Speaker 2: If you're the person that you're frustrated that other people
- 24:40Speaker 2: don't see it, keep going. But like, it is always,
- 24:43Speaker 2: I remember when I started my first business, I was
- 24:46Speaker 2: surprised at how much of a challenge it was to
- 24:48Speaker 2: my own sense of self. And I'll just tell you
- 24:50Speaker 2: that that's part of the journey. And that's one of
- 24:52Speaker 2: the greatest blessings I think is that we set out
- 24:54Speaker 2: with purpose and vision and And we're always thinking about
- 24:57Speaker 2: the work and not realizing just how much God's working
- 24:59Speaker 2: on us in it. And I think that's true of
- 25:01Speaker 2: all things is that God is always at work. He
- 25:04Speaker 2: never stops working. And oftentimes we don't become aware of
- 25:07Speaker 2: the work until far after it's been going on. And
- 25:11Speaker 2: that's one of the great joys and one of the
- 25:13Speaker 2: confidences that you can take is that when you get moving,
- 25:18Speaker 2: you'll begin to see it. But if you stand still,
- 25:20Speaker 2: you won't. So I just wanted to say that because
- 25:21Speaker 2: I know there's people out there that have dreams and
- 25:23Speaker 2: I know that it'll be a struggle for them because
- 25:24Speaker 2: they'll have all the reasons why they can't succeed. And
- 25:27Speaker 2: you know what? You said it on the first episode
- 25:29Speaker 2: that you were so grateful for me and I'm so
- 25:30Speaker 2: grateful for you because you were like, this doesn't happen
- 25:33Speaker 2: without me, with all the mics and everything. And I
- 25:36Speaker 2: look at it and I'm like, well, I could have
- 25:38Speaker 2: had mics and had nothing good to say to them
- 25:39Speaker 2: without you. But I look at that and that's a
- 25:42Speaker 2: picture of God's grace of giving you the right people.
- 25:44Speaker 1: For the journey.
- 25:44Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 25:45Speaker 1: And by the way, That's called synergy.
- 25:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:48Speaker 1: Ooh, let's use a good 90s business term. Where one
- 25:50Speaker 1: plus one equals three. Yeah.
- 25:53Speaker 2: Where one guy shoots lasers out of his eyes and
- 25:54Speaker 2: the other guy's.
- 25:55Speaker 1: The sum of the whole is greater than the sum
- 25:57Speaker 1: of its parts. Right. You take us individually, but then
- 26:00Speaker 1: you put us together and we're worth more than what
- 26:02Speaker 1: we were individually just added up.
- 26:04Speaker 2: Yeah. And we also happen to be a lot funnier because...
- 26:07Speaker 2: All right.
- 26:08Speaker 1: Anyways.
- 26:09Speaker 2: All right. So lessons from pursuing your God-given dream. Number one, G...
- 26:12Speaker 2: Having the inevitable mentality.
- 26:14Speaker 1: Now, this isn't a lesson I have learned in other
- 26:18Speaker 1: places in life, but I've absolutely learned it here. It's like, okay,
- 26:23Speaker 1: when you learn how to play a sport or you
- 26:25Speaker 1: learn how to be successful or you coach yourself, when
- 26:29Speaker 1: you do something one time, you're like, wow, that really works. But,
- 26:33Speaker 1: you know, these are, for example, like in business, you
- 26:36Speaker 1: know who you bet on? People who have a long-term
- 26:39Speaker 1: track record.
- 26:40Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 26:41Speaker 1: It's like, for example, some people start businesses and they've
- 26:43Speaker 1: never done anything before, and I get that. But then
- 26:45Speaker 1: there's also people that's like, this guy has founded and
- 26:48Speaker 1: exited three businesses, and he's learned this and learned this
- 26:51Speaker 1: and learned this, and he's starting again. Right.
- 26:54Speaker 2: You know what that guy's probably going to do? He's
- 26:56Speaker 2: probably going to win. Yeah.
- 26:58Speaker 1: Right? But until you get to that place, when you've
- 27:00Speaker 1: done something one time, you're waiting to see, was I
- 27:04Speaker 1: right or was I lucky?
- 27:05Speaker 2: Right. Very good.
- 27:06Speaker 1: Right. Um, cause you can, you can have an idea
- 27:09Speaker 1: and get lucky with that idea and think you've got
- 27:11Speaker 1: it all figured out.
- 27:12Speaker 2: We'll prove it, do it again.
- 27:15Speaker 1: And this podcast has been a fantastic opportunity to take
- 27:19Speaker 1: what I know, what I believed in, what I had
- 27:21Speaker 1: seen and observed, what I believed was principle was this
- 27:24Speaker 1: mindset of, you know, in the inevitable mentality, we're not
- 27:27Speaker 1: going to do the episode that's preaching this. We've talked
- 27:30Speaker 1: about this before, but it's really just knowing God has
- 27:33Speaker 1: a plan. It's my infinite potential unlock is the inevitable mentality.
- 27:38Speaker 1: God has a plan for my life and I can
- 27:39Speaker 1: have anything I want if I'm willing to pay the
- 27:40Speaker 1: price for it. And you have, you know, who you
- 27:43Speaker 1: have been as a friend and a partner is someone
- 27:45Speaker 1: who believed both of those things entirely with me and
- 27:48Speaker 1: believed that for the podcast. And we knew even when
- 27:51Speaker 1: you've put in the effort and you didn't get what
- 27:53Speaker 1: you wanted to get, you know, if I keep going
- 27:57Speaker 1: and I love the way Hormozy says it, Success and
- 27:59Speaker 1: failure are the same highway. Success is just a later exit.
- 28:02Speaker 2: Right.
- 28:02Speaker 1: We could have quit this podcast two years ago and
- 28:05Speaker 1: felt like it was, you know, a down note.
- 28:07Speaker 2: Like, well, you know, it was good. We tried.
- 28:10Speaker 1: We helped some people, but it would never have been
- 28:12Speaker 1: what it was meant to be. Yeah. You must keep going. Yeah.
- 28:15Speaker 2: And I just want to, because if you listen to
- 28:17Speaker 2: this podcast for any length of time, you'll hear Garrett
- 28:19Speaker 2: give the infinite potential unlock. And like most things, you
- 28:21Speaker 2: can become desensitized to it. The inevitable mentality where you're
- 28:26Speaker 2: just like, it's meant to be. Where you just look around,
- 28:28Speaker 2: you're like, no, it's going to happen. It's like, you understand,
- 28:30Speaker 2: like everything you see is confirmation bias for you when
- 28:32Speaker 2: you have that. It doesn't come.
- 28:35Speaker 1: Confirmation bias doesn't have to be a bad thing.
- 28:37Speaker 2: Right.
- 28:37Speaker 1: It's the story that you tell yourself.
- 28:39Speaker 2: Yes.
- 28:39Speaker 1: Right. And so when you're telling yourself a story of,
- 28:42Speaker 1: I'm going to be great. Look at Tom Brady's life.
- 28:44Speaker 2: Yeah. He believed, right?
- 28:47Speaker 1: I love the story of him going to Bill Belichick
- 28:51Speaker 1: and said, I'm the best decision this organization has ever made.
- 28:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:54Speaker 1: When he was a nobody at that point and on
- 28:56Speaker 1: paper did not look valuable.
- 28:58Speaker 2: Right. Okay. He saw it.
- 29:00Speaker 1: He did not even have the facts yet. He just knew,
- 29:03Speaker 1: he knew the truth of what was in him, but
- 29:04Speaker 1: did not have the facts yet. And he, and he just,
- 29:06Speaker 1: and he could call, he called a shot and he
- 29:08Speaker 1: lived up to it. He knew it was inevitable for
- 29:11Speaker 1: him to be great. He know he, cause he, the
- 29:13Speaker 1: other thing that he said that I love is he says,
- 29:16Speaker 1: I knew as soon as they put me on the field,
- 29:17Speaker 1: they never take me off.
- 29:18Speaker 2: Right.
- 29:19Speaker 1: That's an inevitable mentality.
- 29:20Speaker 2: Right. Okay.
- 29:21Speaker 1: And it's not just because you're this person that has
- 29:24Speaker 1: a gilded life.
- 29:25Speaker 2: Right.
- 29:26Speaker 1: It comes from what do you really believe? And when
- 29:28Speaker 1: you believe that God has a plan for you... Yes. Certainly,
- 29:31Speaker 1: when you believe that God's hand is on you, you
- 29:35Speaker 1: know that you can still lose battles and that you're
- 29:38Speaker 1: going to win in the end.
- 29:39Speaker 2: It's one.
- 29:40Speaker 1: some of my favorite understanding about David is that David
- 29:46Speaker 1: is God's chosen king and David didn't win every battle.
- 29:50Speaker 1: But he maintained that inevitable mentality. He knew what God said.
- 29:53Speaker 1: He knew God had a plan for his life. Yeah.
- 29:57Speaker 2: And I don't know how, for every person out there,
- 29:59Speaker 2: you're going to get to that differently. I don't know
- 30:00Speaker 2: Tom Brady's mindset or what got him to the point
- 30:03Speaker 2: where he had that level of belief. But what I'll
- 30:06Speaker 2: say to you, when you know that God's hand is
- 30:08Speaker 2: on your life and that he's chosen you, you feel inevitable.
- 30:11Speaker 2: It's not like for you, you grasp this at a
- 30:14Speaker 2: much earlier age. I think that there's a unique grace
- 30:16Speaker 2: that God's put on your life in a lot of
- 30:17Speaker 2: ways that you... It's.
- 30:20Speaker 1: My spiritual gift is faith.
- 30:22Speaker 2: Right. And so you've had that at a young age.
- 30:24Speaker 2: For me, if you know my story, when God broke
- 30:26Speaker 2: into my life and I was not seeking him at all,
- 30:29Speaker 2: like literally broke into my life, I look at that
- 30:32Speaker 2: and I'm like, you know what, Lord, I wasn't seeking
- 30:33Speaker 2: you at all, but you've put your hand on me
- 30:34Speaker 2: for a reason. You went out of your way to
- 30:37Speaker 2: get my attention and you've completely transformed me. What starts
- 30:41Speaker 2: to happen is it's like, God doesn't do these things
- 30:43Speaker 2: for no reason. And so you, like I said, I
- 30:45Speaker 2: don't know how you're going to get there, but whatever
- 30:47Speaker 2: has to happen to get you to the point, the
- 30:49Speaker 2: power that comes from the shift of belief to expectation
- 30:53Speaker 2: cannot be overstated. Because at this point, I'm like, God
- 30:55Speaker 2: put his hand on my life for a reason. He
- 30:57Speaker 2: put us together for a reason. I look at all
- 30:58Speaker 2: the other things in my life. I'm like, no, this
- 31:00Speaker 2: is all happening. And I'm just going like, I know
- 31:02Speaker 2: this is all happening for a reason. And I have
- 31:05Speaker 2: this just sense of where I'm going. And it's more
- 31:08Speaker 2: than something that's just come because I do a lot
- 31:11Speaker 2: of positive self-affirmations in the mirror or I read the
- 31:13Speaker 2: right self-belief books or manifest. It's because it's God. The
- 31:17Speaker 2: biggest differentiation, this whole inevitable mentality comes because what you said.
- 31:21Speaker 2: That's why I said I don't want people to be
- 31:22Speaker 2: desensitized to it. When you actually grasp the way that
- 31:25Speaker 2: God has orchestrated your life and that he cares so
- 31:28Speaker 2: deeply for you, that he is truly sovereign, he knows
- 31:30Speaker 2: the number of hairs on your head, he loves you,
- 31:32Speaker 2: and that he wants to work through you. Now that
- 31:36Speaker 2: insecurity that I talked about, that goes. And I don't
- 31:40Speaker 2: know what it's going to take to get you there.
- 31:42Speaker 2: You had it from a young age. I didn't get
- 31:44Speaker 2: it until my late 30s. So I want that to
- 31:46Speaker 2: be an encouragement for people out there. I don't know
- 31:48Speaker 2: what it's going to take, but God is working to
- 31:50Speaker 2: get you to that place of belief, that gift of faith,
- 31:53Speaker 2: like you said. That's the gift that we receive from him, right?
- 31:56Speaker 2: Faith is divine persuasion. It's not initiated from us. Like
- 31:59Speaker 2: Paul says in Ephesians 2, 8 through 10, this is
- 32:01Speaker 2: not from yourself, right? It's the gift of God. And
- 32:04Speaker 2: so when you realize that and you finally grasp that,
- 32:07Speaker 2: that is the rocket fuel that will give you the
- 32:09Speaker 2: inevitable mentality for whatever God's put you in. And it
- 32:12Speaker 2: is the ultimate key to resilience. So inevitable mentality was
- 32:15Speaker 2: the very first one.
- 32:16Speaker 1: Well said, Nicholas.
- 32:16Speaker 2: Well said. That's probably the third time you've said that
- 32:18Speaker 2: in five years. Thank you. The second one, we've said
- 32:22Speaker 2: this a lot, but vision matures as you do. What
- 32:26Speaker 2: we saw when we first started and what we see now,
- 32:30Speaker 2: they're not different, but man, it's so much clearer.
- 32:33Speaker 1: This is, so I take this from a couple places.
- 32:36Speaker 1: I take this from Joseph's story, and I recap that
- 32:39Speaker 1: all the time. And I also take this from Romans 12,
- 32:43Speaker 1: 1 and 2, right? And specifically Romans 12, 2, where
- 32:47Speaker 1: after the promise of transformation is that then, what scripture says,
- 32:52Speaker 1: then you will see my will, which is perfect and pleasing.
- 32:56Speaker 1: Transformation is not a one-time thing. You continually transform. And
- 33:00Speaker 1: so what this is, is that God's plan for your life,
- 33:03Speaker 1: God's vision for you, he has it all. But to us,
- 33:07Speaker 1: like what is revelation? Revelation is... is getting a deeper
- 33:11Speaker 1: understanding of who God is. He didn't change, but I
- 33:15Speaker 1: was able to see more. That's how vision happens in
- 33:17Speaker 1: your life, okay?
- 33:18Speaker 2: Yeah, very good.
- 33:19Speaker 1: You'll see a glimpse, and that's who God is. But
- 33:21Speaker 1: even Moses, who had walked with God, heard God's voice,
- 33:25Speaker 1: God's the one who spoke to him, went up to
- 33:27Speaker 1: the top of the mountain and said, God, show me
- 33:28Speaker 1: your glory. Give me deeper revelation. After he already knew him,
- 33:33Speaker 1: had a deep relationship with him, he's the one that
- 33:35Speaker 1: You know, that's after God, I mean, Moses had already
- 33:38Speaker 1: taken the people into the desert, goes up on the mountain, says, God,
- 33:40Speaker 1: show me your glory.
- 33:41Speaker 2: Yeah. This is an understanding of revelation. Very good. The
- 33:43Speaker 2: longer you walk with God, the more he'll show you.
- 33:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 33:46Speaker 2: Okay?
- 33:47Speaker 1: And God's vision, God's plan, God's purpose for your life,
- 33:51Speaker 1: he doesn't show it to you all at once. He didn't,
- 33:53Speaker 1: when God appeared to Moses at the burning bush, he
- 33:55Speaker 1: didn't hand him a brochure with all the pictures of
- 33:58Speaker 1: when you get to the island, here's what you're going
- 33:59Speaker 1: to see. Right. Here's the experiences. He didn't show him that.
- 34:02Speaker 1: He said, follow me. Yeah.
- 34:03Speaker 2: He says, here's the plan. Follow me, okay?
- 34:06Speaker 1: And this is the way that God works with vision
- 34:08Speaker 1: in your life. It matures as you do. The more
- 34:10Speaker 1: you follow me, the more I'll show you, right? It
- 34:13Speaker 1: is a relationship. Through intimacy, you see more of who
- 34:16Speaker 1: God is. That's how relationships work. Same with your wife.
- 34:20Speaker 1: Same with what we're talking about today is in the
- 34:23Speaker 1: nature of the relationship between you and your business and
- 34:26Speaker 1: God's plan for your life and how much you see
- 34:29Speaker 1: of it. The more relationship you have with it, the
- 34:32Speaker 1: more you're going to see. So as you grow over time...
- 34:34Speaker 1: You see further down the road. This is Joseph. I
- 34:37Speaker 1: just have a dream that my brothers would bow down
- 34:39Speaker 1: to me. His purpose was way bigger, right? This is,
- 34:43Speaker 1: for me, I've had a dream to be great. I
- 34:46Speaker 1: had a dream of being a Navy SEAL. I had
- 34:47Speaker 1: a dream of being a leader. I didn't see everything
- 34:49Speaker 1: that I see today back then. Now I see way
- 34:53Speaker 1: more than I saw then. When we first sat out
- 34:55Speaker 1: on this podcast, I said, I believe this is going
- 34:58Speaker 1: to be something. I believe this is gonna help people.
- 35:01Speaker 1: I believe this will help me. I believe this will
- 35:03Speaker 1: be a platform that we can share. There's this thread
- 35:07Speaker 1: I've been pulling on my entire life, that I believe
- 35:09Speaker 1: that there's something that's not necessarily been missed, but that
- 35:13Speaker 1: there is a path that is a true greatness path of,
- 35:17Speaker 1: I'm going to live everything that God's called me to live.
- 35:19Speaker 1: I'm going to truly stand on his principles, all of
- 35:22Speaker 1: his secrets, all of his victories. There's a path there
- 35:26Speaker 1: for us. You do not have to live the way
- 35:29Speaker 1: that the world tells you to live, you don't have
- 35:31Speaker 1: to live under the power of sin. That's exactly why
- 35:33Speaker 1: Christ died on the cross. So when you put all
- 35:36Speaker 1: of these things together and understand that God has a
- 35:38Speaker 1: plan for you, there is a way where you can
- 35:41Speaker 1: be inevitable. And so I saw that for this podcast,
- 35:45Speaker 1: but I can tell you, I didn't see five years
- 35:47Speaker 1: ago everything that I see today. What I see today
- 35:50Speaker 1: is it looks like, man, I went further down the road, right?
- 35:54Speaker 1: If you wanna go climb a mountain and you start
- 35:58Speaker 1: out 20 miles away from that mountain, You can just
- 36:00Speaker 1: see a mountain in the distance. But then as you
- 36:02Speaker 1: get closer, you see more details. You can see the
- 36:05Speaker 1: top more clearly. You can see the path that you're
- 36:08Speaker 1: going to take to get there. Now, there's still a
- 36:09Speaker 1: lot of stuff you're going to have to discover, but
- 36:11Speaker 1: the further you walk down the journey, the more you
- 36:13Speaker 1: can see. And one of the great lessons that this
- 36:16Speaker 1: podcast has been, we've preached it and we've lived it
- 36:18Speaker 1: at the same time, is that vision matures as you do.
- 36:22Speaker 1: So you've just got to decide for whatever your vision is,
- 36:24Speaker 1: for what you can see today, that you're going to
- 36:26Speaker 1: keep going.
- 36:27Speaker 2: Yeah. And I'll just say you, you saw, I've said
- 36:30Speaker 2: it many times, you saw way more than I did.
- 36:32Speaker 2: And I would say even now you still have you,
- 36:34Speaker 2: there's some things we're working on now that I'm like, man,
- 36:36Speaker 2: you were ahead of your time. I feel like you've
- 36:38Speaker 2: seen things before they, it was the time for them
- 36:40Speaker 2: a lot in your life. Um, whereas I, that's not
- 36:44Speaker 2: been me. Like when we started this podcast, I was
- 36:46Speaker 2: just like, man, people need what this guy has. I
- 36:48Speaker 2: was very much like from coaching with you. I was like, man,
- 36:50Speaker 2: you're more people should hear from you. Cause I felt
- 36:52Speaker 2: like I've tried a lot of stuff. And actually like
- 36:55Speaker 2: being with you was the thing that I was like, man,
- 36:57Speaker 2: this is, you know, there was clearly God was in it.
- 36:59Speaker 2: So I just wanted to give that to more people.
- 37:00Speaker 2: I had no idea of all the stuff you said
- 37:03Speaker 2: where you're like, I want our podcast to be cumulative.
- 37:04Speaker 2: I'm like, uh, okay. I thought we'd just get a
- 37:06Speaker 2: bunch of guests. Nothing we can say can ever not
- 37:09Speaker 2: stand the test of time. And I was like, well,
- 37:10Speaker 2: I'm not going to say anything. And it's like, based
- 37:13Speaker 2: on that criteria, I'm going to maybe crack some jokes.
- 37:15Speaker 2: And I understand that now, but, but I'm saying this
- 37:18Speaker 2: to encourage people. All I saw was like, man, I
- 37:22Speaker 2: have some skills as a marketer that I know I
- 37:24Speaker 2: can at least get this out for people to maybe
- 37:26Speaker 2: find it. And even then, I didn't know a fraction
- 37:29Speaker 2: of what I've learned in the past five years. But
- 37:32Speaker 2: that's exactly what you're saying. But I started, and it
- 37:35Speaker 2: was like I had a very, very small grain of vision.
- 37:39Speaker 2: And as we've gone, it's grown and grown and grown.
- 37:41Speaker 2: And I think that's just the goodness of God. I
- 37:43Speaker 2: love that point you made about Moses. I think that,
- 37:46Speaker 2: I mean, for the guy who stood up to the
- 37:47Speaker 2: most powerful nation in the world to be going, show
- 37:49Speaker 2: me your glory. I don't want to go if you're
- 37:51Speaker 2: not going to go with us, but I don't even
- 37:52Speaker 2: know you. It's like, wait, what? You've already seen it.
- 37:54Speaker 1: You would think he's already seen it at this point.
- 37:55Speaker 2: For most people, if they'd gotten that much of God,
- 37:57Speaker 2: they'd be like writing books and doing seminars. Yeah, I
- 38:00Speaker 2: already know everything. Yeah. And he's like, I don't know you.
- 38:02Speaker 2: And that's such a great picture.
- 38:04Speaker 1: Okay.
- 38:04Speaker 2: So vision matures, you do last.
- 38:06Speaker 1: Just before we go to this last point.
- 38:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:08Speaker 1: This is obvious, but sometimes we just need the... It's
- 38:11Speaker 1: a scene in Back to the Future where he knocks
- 38:13Speaker 1: on McFly. McFly. Hey, hey, is anybody there? Sometimes we
- 38:18Speaker 1: just need, you know, a little bit more of a reminder.
- 38:21Speaker 1: This is not just Nick and I telling our story.
- 38:24Speaker 1: This is Nick and I encouraging you.
- 38:26Speaker 2: Yes.
- 38:27Speaker 1: We believe in you. We are here to help you.
- 38:30Speaker 1: And we want you to see the same things that
- 38:31Speaker 1: we have seen. And so if you have a dream,
- 38:33Speaker 1: just like we've had a dream. We're trying to tell
- 38:35Speaker 1: you these lessons aren't just for us. We're sharing these
- 38:37Speaker 1: lessons with you.
- 38:38Speaker 2: Yeah, because you know what? We're the body of Christ.
- 38:41Speaker 2: We all need to run our race because every win
- 38:44Speaker 2: that somebody else in the body of Christ has, like
- 38:46Speaker 2: we love Josh Howerton. I would love to get to
- 38:49Speaker 2: the place that he's at as a podcast, but I'm
- 38:51Speaker 2: not like looking at him going like, oh man, I'm going, yes,
- 38:54Speaker 2: keep going. Bryce Crawford, keep going. Like all these guys.
- 38:57Speaker 1: When you truly understand the glory of God, you don't
- 39:00Speaker 1: look at life and say it's a zero-sum game. Correct.
- 39:02Speaker 2: That is Satan's mindset. Yes.
- 39:04Speaker 1: It's a zero-sum game.
- 39:05Speaker 2: Yeah, so we're cheering all these people that are already
- 39:07Speaker 2: known on, but what we know is there's plenty of
- 39:09Speaker 2: people who are like us that are either further along
- 39:11Speaker 2: or further behind, and we're saying, you keep going too.
- 39:13Speaker 2: We all need it.
- 39:13Speaker 1: If God's glory is infinite, the more I get of
- 39:16Speaker 1: it doesn't mean the less you get of it. What
- 39:18Speaker 1: it should mean is the more I get of it,
- 39:19Speaker 1: the more you get of it too.
- 39:20Speaker 2: Yeah, we're drawn from an endless well, and we all
- 39:22Speaker 2: need each other to run that way.
- 39:24Speaker 1: So the last last lesson here so we've talked about
- 39:26Speaker 1: the inevitable mentality the inevitable mindset lesson number two that
- 39:30Speaker 1: vision matures as you do and third lesson here learn
- 39:33Speaker 1: this one from old pops mr pops it's great to
- 39:38Speaker 1: have examples in your life i hope to be a
- 39:39Speaker 1: great example to other people my father uh what we
- 39:43Speaker 1: always talk about him is consistency and the lesson is
- 39:46Speaker 1: that consistency wins and slash, okay, this is the second part.
- 39:51Speaker 2: Consistency wins sounds awesome. Yes. Oh, great.
- 39:53Speaker 1: All I got to do is consistency. And it always
- 39:57Speaker 1: takes way longer than you think. Part of the reason
- 40:01Speaker 1: we gave you the numbers at the beginning of, hey,
- 40:03Speaker 1: it was this, then it was this, okay, was because
- 40:07Speaker 1: so many people, they're like, oh, I'm going to put
- 40:08Speaker 1: all this effort in.
- 40:09Speaker 2: It's like, oh, and nobody listened.
- 40:11Speaker 1: And again, that's also why I made the point of like, look,
- 40:13Speaker 1: I've got something that many people don't have.
- 40:16Speaker 2: Again, this isn't me patting myself on the back.
- 40:17Speaker 1: It just You would think like, oh, being Navy SEAL,
- 40:20Speaker 1: it's like on day 30, you'd have more than 60 plays.
- 40:23Speaker 2: It's a factual statement. You had a head start.
- 40:25Speaker 1: It took a long time to get to here.
- 40:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:27Speaker 1: But what Nick and I have done for the last
- 40:30Speaker 1: five years now, at the end of year one, we
- 40:33Speaker 1: took December off. And then we came back in January
- 40:36Speaker 1: and said, we'll never do that again.
- 40:37Speaker 2: Right. And so from January of, what, 22?
- 40:40Speaker 1: Yep. So we recorded through 21 and then took December off.
- 40:44Speaker 1: And since January of 2022, we have not gone a
- 40:48Speaker 1: week without posting an episode. And then it was a
- 40:50Speaker 1: few years ago, I remember specifically, it was a few
- 40:52Speaker 1: years ago, we went to two episodes a week. And
- 40:54Speaker 1: Nick and I, I cannot tell you, I will not
- 40:58Speaker 1: take the time, just understand it's a lot of effort
- 41:01Speaker 1: and anecdotes and lessons I could share with you of
- 41:03Speaker 1: how hard it is, how much we forced this into
- 41:06Speaker 1: our life to make it happen. Nick comes over to
- 41:08Speaker 1: my house at 5.30 in the morning, at inconvenient times
- 41:12Speaker 1: because both of our lives are really busy. I got
- 41:14Speaker 1: a lot going on and we say, we're doing this anyways.
- 41:16Speaker 1: That's the price of consistency. Consistency makes zero allowance for convenience.
- 41:22Speaker 1: When you let convenience into your life, when you let
- 41:25Speaker 1: emotional leadership come into your life, you don't get the
- 41:28Speaker 1: benefit of consistency. Consistency is tested.
- 41:31Speaker 2: In those moments, right?
- 41:32Speaker 1: When it's not convenient, let's see how bad you wanna
- 41:35Speaker 1: be consistent. And to do that, you have to believe
- 41:37Speaker 1: in the fruit of consistency more than you are hearing
- 41:39Speaker 1: the pain of the discomfort, the busted schedule, the disorganization
- 41:44Speaker 1: and chaos in your life, you have to value the
- 41:47Speaker 1: fruit of consistency and say, this is when it counts.
- 41:49Speaker 2: Yeah. Gee, that is so good. And that's exactly right, man.
- 41:55Speaker 2: Some of my own personal takeaways is it's hard to
- 41:58Speaker 2: beat someone who just won't quit. And the mentality that
- 42:01Speaker 2: I've had in this is little and often beats great
- 42:04Speaker 2: surges of effort. You said this, Strength is measured not
- 42:08Speaker 2: by how much you can pick up, but by what
- 42:10Speaker 2: you don't have to put down. And that is truly it.
- 42:14Speaker 2: Don't think about what you could do and be like, well,
- 42:16Speaker 2: what would I have to do to get to X?
- 42:18Speaker 2: What could you do that you could just never stop?
- 42:21Speaker 2: It's a completely different mindset. That's right. Because I could
- 42:25Speaker 2: go with a 30-day discipline program and get myself in
- 42:27Speaker 2: better shape, but what workout could I do that I
- 42:31Speaker 2: could do it every day and never stop?
- 42:33Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 42:33Speaker 2: Oh, man. No, for real.
- 42:35Speaker 1: It's like, well, I'm going to go, I'm going to
- 42:37Speaker 1: go do the most elite fitness program for the next
- 42:41Speaker 1: 30 days and see where I get.
- 42:43Speaker 2: Or you know what?
- 42:44Speaker 1: Every day, a hundred jumping jacks, a hundred pushups, a
- 42:47Speaker 1: hundred body weight squats every single day, no matter what.
- 42:51Speaker 2: Yeah. And, and with that, I mean, You know, when
- 42:53Speaker 2: you start and you believe in what you're doing, a
- 42:56Speaker 2: big lesson as well, fruit takes time, man. Like we said,
- 42:58Speaker 2: it takes longer than you think. If you would have
- 43:00Speaker 2: said to me like, hey, here's where you're going to
- 43:02Speaker 2: be on day one, I'd have been like, yes. So
- 43:04Speaker 2: how long does that take? Like, is this a year
- 43:06Speaker 2: from now? You're like, oh, no, it's five years from now.
- 43:07Speaker 2: I'm like, wait, I'm sorry, five years from now?
- 43:10Speaker 1: Wow.
- 43:11Speaker 2: Wow. I would have thought we would get there a
- 43:13Speaker 2: lot faster.
- 43:13Speaker 1: What I've experienced in my life, and this is, some
- 43:16Speaker 1: of it is just, it's not this way for everybody.
- 43:18Speaker 1: This is principles, but also some people based upon what
- 43:23Speaker 1: you pursue, the way that you live, you live on
- 43:25Speaker 1: different frequency cycles, okay? The type, when you're pursuing an
- 43:29Speaker 1: eternal mindset, that's a long wavelength.
- 43:31Speaker 2: Yes.
- 43:31Speaker 1: Okay, and so what that means is your cycles from
- 43:35Speaker 1: bottom to top, it's a lot longer when you're pursuing something.
- 43:39Speaker 1: Like those are the waves that go the furthest.
- 43:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 43:42Speaker 1: And so if you're pursuing something that's way out there,
- 43:45Speaker 1: your cycles, they take a little bit longer. And you
- 43:47Speaker 1: know what this means is, when I'm reaping fruit in
- 43:51Speaker 1: my life, and right in this podcast is an example
- 43:53Speaker 1: of that. We're reaping fruit today. This is reaping fruit
- 43:55Speaker 1: of seed that we sowed years ago. When people write
- 43:59Speaker 1: emails into this podcast, and it happens all the time now,
- 44:02Speaker 1: like nearly on a daily basis, get an email.
- 44:05Speaker 2: It is every day. Yeah.
- 44:06Speaker 1: On a daily basis, this podcast changed my life three
- 44:09Speaker 1: paragraphs and in there it says, I started listening to
- 44:13Speaker 1: this podcast in 2022.
- 44:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 44:15Speaker 1: Okay. So been listening for three years, been listening for
- 44:18Speaker 1: four years. Now the transformation happens. If you're pursuing something
- 44:22Speaker 1: great in your life, don't expect to see fruit of
- 44:24Speaker 1: it next month. Yeah. If you want to go launch
- 44:26Speaker 1: the next great toothpaste brand, sure. You can get reviews
- 44:29Speaker 1: in 30 days. If you want to change the world,
- 44:32Speaker 1: if you want to change people's mindsets, it's not going
- 44:34Speaker 1: to happen tomorrow. SpaceX is getting close to where they're
- 44:39Speaker 1: accomplishing their dreams, right? But they still don't even have
- 44:41Speaker 1: the Starship Heavy going up and down, putting people into space,
- 44:44Speaker 1: and they're still years away from Mars, right? They've had
- 44:47Speaker 1: some great IPO this year. They put up the Falcon
- 44:51Speaker 1: 9 in 2010. They re-landed a Falcon 9 in 2015.
- 44:55Speaker 1: But this is objectively the most, from a business point,
- 45:00Speaker 1: most successful person of our time, okay? Yeah, 100%. And
- 45:03Speaker 1: his greatest, most important project, It's 2026. They just IPO-ed.
- 45:07Speaker 1: They haven't even made it to Mars yet. SpaceX was
- 45:10Speaker 1: founded in 2002. Wow. It takes way longer than you
- 45:14Speaker 1: think it's going to succeed. So quit worrying about the
- 45:17Speaker 1: timeline and just spend all of your time on what
- 45:21Speaker 1: God puts you on the earth to do. Decide, what's
- 45:23Speaker 1: the thing I want to do forever? What's the thing
- 45:25Speaker 1: I don't care if I fail? I know this is right.
- 45:27Speaker 1: And be consistent at that. And then just keep going
- 45:30Speaker 1: and keep going and keep going. Don't even look back.
- 45:33Speaker 1: And then one day someone's going to hand you The
- 45:35Speaker 1: fruit that says, here's what you did. Here's how you
- 45:37Speaker 1: changed the world. Here's how you changed my life. That
- 45:40Speaker 1: only happens if you decide to be consistent.
