- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up, everyone, and welcome to another episode of the
- 0:03Epstein Chronicles. When Jeffrey Epstein was arrested back in twenty nineteen,
- 0:09and most of that conversation was revolving around the properties
- 0:12in Florida, New York, and the Virgin Islands. Meanwhile, what
- 0:16was happening in New Mexico was largely forgotten about. Hardly
- 0:21anybody was talking about what Epstein was up to in
- 0:23New Mexico and why he chose New Mexico in the
- 0:26first place. And that's always been a gigantic blind spot
- 0:29in this story, just exactly what he was doing in
- 0:33New Mexico. Well, now that they have this Truth Commission
- 0:36and paneled in New Mexico, that's what they're trying to
- 0:39get to the bottom of. And they have issued their
- 0:43first fourteen subpoenas as their investigation truly kicks off in
- 0:47ernest So in this episode we're going to talk about
- 0:51those subpoenas and about where the Truth Commission currently stands.
- 0:55Today's article was published by CNN and the headline New
- 0:59Mexico True Commission begins investigation into Epstein's or ranch will
- 1:04issue subpoenas. This article was authored by MJ. Lee and
- 1:09Nikki Robertson. A New Mexico legislative panel announced on Monday
- 1:15it's issuing more than a dozen subpoenas as part of
- 1:17its probe into Jeffrey Epstein's or ranch, and called on
- 1:21survivors of the late sex offender and other members of
- 1:24the public to share what they might know about Epstein's
- 1:27past crimes inside of the state. And I'm guessing that
- 1:32there's going to be a lot of people that come forward,
- 1:34and then from there it becomes a question of credibility,
- 1:37and the vast majority of people that have come forward
- 1:39so far have been credible. Now, there's always people that
- 1:43are trying to benefit, trying to profit and trying to
- 1:47make a quick buck, but the vast majority of people
- 1:50that have come forward have been very credible. The New
- 1:55Mexico Survivor's Truth Commission, led by a bipartisan group of
- 1:59four lawmakers from New Mexico's House of Representatives, said it
- 2:02will begin collecting evidence from range of federal and local agencies,
- 2:07including the US Justice Department FBI, Epstein's estate, several major banks,
- 2:13the state's Department of Justice, and the Santa Fe County
- 2:16Sheriff's Department. Well, better late than never, right, better late
- 2:21than never. And I'm not going to hold these current
- 2:25people responsible for the failures of the state previously, but
- 2:29they better do the right thing and this better not
- 2:31be just some kind of theater. Right. Oh, we're outraged
- 2:35about what happened, and we're going to be performative, but
- 2:38nothing's going to come of it. We can't have that now.
- 2:42I'm not saying they have to find people that are guilty,
- 2:45but they have to do their best when it comes
- 2:47to investigating. They can't leave anything unturned, and they have
- 2:51to go wherever the evidence leads, even if that leads
- 2:54to so called faiths. Our aim is to repair the
- 2:56body politic that was violated in New Mexico, in this
- 3:00country and around the world by one man's predation and
- 3:03by the silence and complicity and failure of many individuals
- 3:07and institutions by the power to stop it and did not.
- 3:12Democratic Representative Andrea Romero, the chair of the commission, said,
- 3:16we will not be the next ones who have the
- 3:18power to act and chose not to. Look. You have
- 3:21to commend them. And I know people want to say, oh,
- 3:24it's politically driven it's all about going after Trump and look,
- 3:28on the federal level, there's some truth to that, but
- 3:32when we're talking about this state led investigation, that's not
- 3:35what this is about. This is about trying to get
- 3:38to the bottom of what went down. And you have
- 3:41two Democrats and two Republicans sitting on this committee, and
- 3:45hopefully they're going to work together to try to get
- 3:47to the bottom of what occurred. And I encourage anybody
- 3:52that has any information about New Mexico to come forward,
- 3:57because there's a lot that went down there, and there's
- 3:59a lot of people that manage the situation and a
- 4:03lot of people that help Jeffrey Epstein do what he did.
- 4:07And remember that doesn't mean that everybody took part in
- 4:09the abuse. I'm not looking at this through the lens
- 4:13that they gave me. I'm looking at this through the
- 4:16lens of this being a criminal enterprise, because that's what
- 4:19it is, and like I always tell you, when you
- 4:22look at it through that lens, it's a whole less
- 4:24different story. The committee also plans on physically surveying the ranch,
- 4:29speaking with survivors, and coordinating with local and federal law enforcement,
- 4:33as well as US Congress culminating with a final report
- 4:37on its findings. The lawmaker said Monday the next update
- 4:41will come in July. It was not clear exactly what
- 4:44kind of evidence the Commission will be seeking from these
- 4:46entities and how successful it will be in obtaining the information.
- 4:51If they subpoenate it, they're gonna get it. These banks
- 4:55aren't gonna play games. They have shareholders, they know better
- 5:00some of the other organizations. They might try and you know,
- 5:03gum things up a bit. But at the end of
- 5:06the day, a subpoena is a subpoena, and the State
- 5:10of New Mexico certainly has the power to subpoena people
- 5:13who might have committed crimes in their state. And remember
- 5:16all the way back last year when I was talking
- 5:18about dual sovereignty, this is what I meant, and nobody
- 5:23was talking about it, and nobody's talking about it still.
- 5:26But dual sovereignty is a real thing, and it's a
- 5:28real tool that the government can use locally if the
- 5:32FEDS refuse to do their job and go after the
- 5:35people that they should be going after. So I would
- 5:38expect to see more of this. Monday's development mark one
- 5:43more example of the growing calls to investigate and get
- 5:46to the bottom of the full extent of the late
- 5:49sex offenders' crimes years after Epstein's death. Yo, that's all
- 5:53I've ever asked for. I know there's a lot of
- 5:56people out here that say a lot of things, but
- 5:58for me, it's always been I want a robust investigation,
- 6:04because that's never occurred. Now, if that investigation occurs, and
- 6:09it's done fairly, and it's done the right way, and
- 6:11it comes back that there's nothing there, I'll be the
- 6:14first one to get on this podcast and say, look,
- 6:16we had it wrong. We completely misinterpreted the whole situation,
- 6:22but unfortunately we're right over the target. This is not
- 6:25a situation I want to be right about. I wish
- 6:27I was wrong about all of this, and I wish
- 6:30this was as overblown as some people try and make
- 6:33it out to be. But me personally, my demands have
- 6:36remained the same. A real robust public investigation. That's it,
- 6:41nothing more, And if that makes me a conspiracy theorist
- 6:44or a traitor, then hey, so be it. Zora Ranch,
- 6:48a sprawling piece of property outside of Santa Fe and
- 6:51one of the multiple homes that Epstein owned, has been
- 6:54the source of much speculation and conspiracy theories about Epstein's
- 6:57abuse of young women and girls. Some of Epstein's survivors,
- 7:02including Chante Davies and the late Virginia Roberts, have said
- 7:06the ranch was one of the places where Epstein's actually
- 7:09assaulted them. Let's not forget about Annie. Let's not forget
- 7:12that Annie was brought to that ranch under the pretense
- 7:16that other girls of age were going to be there.
- 7:18She gets there and there's nobody else there but her
- 7:20and Maxwell and Epstein. And then how about Maria's account
- 7:23She told us about New Mexico, and then her story
- 7:27was backed up by the art student. And don't even
- 7:30get me started about what Virginia said. Forget it. Her
- 7:35and I had several conversations about Zoro Ranch, especially around
- 7:39the time that I went down there, and she was
- 7:41very vocal about what was happening on that ranch and
- 7:44about how many girls were abused there. So, look, I'm
- 7:47not going to sit here and tell you I know
- 7:48the extent of what happened. What I do know, though,
- 7:51is what did happen there was absolutely evil and unconscionable,
- 7:56and the fact that nobody has ever been held accountable
- 7:59is on ect. I experienced a lot of trauma personally there,
- 8:05and it was a very isolated location to be at,
- 8:08and it was a very scary place, Davis told CNN
- 8:12in a recent interview. You could feel the darkness there. Look,
- 8:15I was never on the property per se, but just
- 8:18standing in the driveway trying to get them to come out,
- 8:21you could tell how desolate it is. And you know
- 8:25that people who aren't familiar with the area, with the terrain,
- 8:28you can't get away from there. What are you gonna
- 8:30do hid through the desert If you don't know what
- 8:32you're doing, you have no skills. You're done for. If
- 8:36the elements don't get you, the wildlife will. We're not
- 8:40talking about a place where you can walk to the
- 8:42local gas station. This place was desolate, and that was
- 8:46by design. The island had all that water surrounding it.
- 8:51This property had the desert and it acted as a
- 8:54natural mote. So these girls would get out there and
- 8:57they'd experience this desolation and they would know very quickly
- 9:02that there was no escape. The Justice Department's recent release
- 9:07of millions of pages of Epstein files has fueled fresh
- 9:10calls from survivors advocates, lawmakers, and others to probe why
- 9:14for decades, local and federal law enforcement had failed to
- 9:18thoroughly examine Epstein's vast sex trafficking ring and those who
- 9:21aided him, including what might have transpired at Zoro Ranch.
- 9:26People are finally asking the right questions, and look, folks,
- 9:30I gotta tell you, I will be the happiest guy
- 9:32on the planet when we don't have to talk about
- 9:34this ever again. I despise this topic, and I mean
- 9:38that it's so disgusting, so disturbing, and so depressing that
- 9:43I despise it. And the easier thing to do would
- 9:46be to ignore it, like most people do. But unfortunately
- 9:49that's not how I'm built. Once I get a look
- 9:52behind the curtain and I see something fucked up, there's
- 9:55no going back. So that leaves us with one option, right,
- 9:58and that is to bite down on our mouth piece
- 10:00and keep moving forward. Epstein's co conspirator, Glenn Maxwell, is
- 10:04the only person who has ever been prosecuted in relation
- 10:07to Epstein. She is currently serving a sentence at a
- 10:10minimum security prison in Texas. New Mexico's Attorney General, Roald Torres,
- 10:16said in February that he was reopening the state's criminal
- 10:19investigation into Epstein's activities in Zoro Ranch, and has been
- 10:23soliciting information from the public who might have knowledge about
- 10:27the matter. On the heels of the announcement, state authorities
- 10:30conducted their own physical search of the ranch in March.
- 10:34It's not clear what pertinent evidence, if any, was found
- 10:37during that search. My guess is not much. We have
- 10:41to be real here, right, and chances are any evidence
- 10:44that might have been there is long gone. The Truth
- 10:49Commission recently launched a new website that includes what it
- 10:53says is a confidential tip line and information about its
- 10:56ongoing work. The panel says it has a two million
- 10:59dollar budget and plans to coordinate with the state's Justice Department,
- 11:03and that's going to be important. They have to make
- 11:05sure they're coordinating with the authorities in the state, especially
- 11:08if they're looking to indict people. We deserve answers, we
- 11:13deserve the truth, We deserve transparency, justice and accountability. Epstein's revivor,
- 11:18Rachel Benavitez, who said she was abused at Zorah Ranch,
- 11:22set up Monday's hearing. She also said she's more than
- 11:26a slacious story and boy is she write about that
- 11:29this is so much more than just a sex trafficking ring,
- 11:35and it's so much more than these slacious stories that
- 11:38people can't stop talking about. That's the distraction. That's a
- 11:43side show. Following the money trail, following the evidence, that's
- 11:47how you get to where you're going. Also, speaking at
- 11:50New Mexico's meeting, Robert's sister in law, Amanda Roberts, employed
- 11:55legislators to follow every investigative lead to its fullest conclusion,
- 11:59uncover the truth wherever it leads, and bring forward charges
- 12:03against any potential co conspirator, abuser, enabler, or an individual
- 12:07who knowingly helped sustain this criminal network. All of that
- 12:11should be happening. If you knowingly helped Jeffrey Epstein, you
- 12:16should definitely be under investigation, especially if that led to
- 12:20people being abused, or money being laundered or stolen, or
- 12:24immigration fraud happening. All of it's important, and all of
- 12:29it should be investigated. How and why Jeffrey Epstein was
- 12:33able to operate a sex trafficking enterprise for so long
- 12:36right here in this very community, Roberts asked, And I
- 12:40think a lot of people in New Mexico are wondering
- 12:42the same thing. And when I went down there in
- 12:45twenty twenty, all the people I talked to, local people,
- 12:48some ex law enforcement, they all said the same thing.
- 12:52We all knew something crazy was going on at that ranch.
- 12:55We didn't know the extent of it, and we certainly
- 12:57didn't know that Jeffrey Epstein was as well connected as
- 13:00he was. But now with all this information coming out
- 13:04and this Truth Commission being unpaneled, I'm guessing that we're
- 13:07going to see more people from New Mexico come forward.
- 13:10So we'll keep an eye on this one like usual,
- 13:12and when we have some more information to share, we'll
- 13:15get it added to the catalog. All the information that
- 13:19goes with this episode can be found in the description box.
