- 0:01Speaker 1: I didn't take your hand just to meet you. Hey everybody,
- 0:05Speaker 1: it's Wally Bates. Welcome back to Rideshare Revival. I picked
- 0:11Speaker 1: up Brian from Walmart the other day. He was on
- 0:14Speaker 1: crutches and struggling just to get in the car, really.
- 0:17Speaker 1: And I asked, man, what's going on? He said, well,
- 0:21Speaker 1: he had surgery on his left knee. And while he
- 0:24Speaker 1: was recovering, he'd been compensating so much on his right
- 0:28Speaker 1: leg He developed problems there. Two surgeries later on that
- 0:33Speaker 1: side now, and Brian was still struggling. I told him, well,
- 0:38Speaker 1: God's got you one way or another. Without hesitation, he said,
- 0:42Speaker 1: he always does. So off we went. We talked about sports, life,
- 0:48Speaker 1: really a little bit about everything. Just two guys talking
- 0:51Speaker 1: during an Uber ride. And as we drove, I realized
- 0:54Speaker 1: the more and more we were talking, Where I was
- 0:58Speaker 1: taking him, it was going to a home for men
- 1:00Speaker 1: who were unemployed, unable to work, or simply couldn't even
- 1:05Speaker 1: afford a place of their own. Dude, Brian was dealing
- 1:09Speaker 1: with way more than just bad needs. Life had knocked
- 1:13Speaker 1: him pretty far down. Pretty hard. But there was still
- 1:18Speaker 1: something about him. He still believed. He always does. I
- 1:23Speaker 1: kept thinking about those words. So we pulled up to
- 1:26Speaker 1: his destination, and just before he got out, I said,
- 1:28Speaker 1: give me your hand. He reached forward, shook my hand,
- 1:31Speaker 1: and he said, it was nice to meet you. And
- 1:33Speaker 1: I held on to it, and I said, dude, I
- 1:35Speaker 1: didn't take your hand to meet you. I took your
- 1:37Speaker 1: hand to pray for you. So I did a prayer
- 1:41Speaker 1: for healing, for those legs to be restored, for strength,
- 1:44Speaker 1: for provision, and for God to remind Brian that even
- 1:48Speaker 1: in this season of his life, he still had it,
- 1:53Speaker 1: the prayer of healing. You could see it. He could
- 1:57Speaker 1: feel it. Before Brian got out, I reached down and
- 2:01Speaker 1: gave him one of those little mini Jesus I keep
- 2:03Speaker 1: in the car and handed it to him. It's just
- 2:05Speaker 1: a little thing. But man, the way Brian received it
- 2:09Speaker 1: got to me. He was genuinely touched, genuinely happy to
- 2:14Speaker 1: have him. As I watched him make his way inside
- 2:17Speaker 1: on those crutches, I thought about how little he seemed
- 2:21Speaker 1: to have right now. And somehow that little Jesus felt
- 2:24Speaker 1: important to him, not because of what it was worth,
- 2:29Speaker 1: but what it represented. A reminder he could hold on to,
- 2:33Speaker 1: a reminder of what Brian already told himself he always does.
- 2:39Speaker 1: God's got him. Rideshare Revival. There's hope at every turn.
- 2:45Speaker 1: These are my prayers from the road. If you would
- 2:47Speaker 1: like prayer, send me a line. I'd love to pray
- 2:50Speaker 1: for you. ridesharerevival at gmail.com.
