- 1:51Speaker 1: Disguised Coverage, We're going to be diving into some game
- 1:56Speaker 1: tape from the Buffalo Bills victory versus the Jets in
- 2:01Speaker 1: Week two, with a specific focus on Joey Bosa, and
- 2:04Speaker 1: then tying in into a larger discussion discussion. We're fifty
- 2:09Speaker 1: eight seconds in first club of the night, disappointed in myself.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Usually that doesn't happen for at least an hour into
- 2:14Speaker 1: the show, but I'm severely disappointed in myself. We're going
- 2:17Speaker 1: to be diving into Joey Bosa game tape to highlight
- 2:20Speaker 1: and detail how and why he was so dominant against
- 2:24Speaker 1: the New York Jets in Week two, and also tying
- 2:27Speaker 1: that into a larger discussion of what he means to
- 2:32Speaker 1: the Buffalo Bills defensive line and I guess the entire
- 2:34Speaker 1: defense in general. By extension this, The Bosa signing is
- 2:41Speaker 1: one that I feel kind of personally attached to this season,
- 2:45Speaker 1: if you know, for regular viewers of the show, we
- 2:48Speaker 1: were live here doing, you know, for free agency breakdown
- 2:51Speaker 1: and reaction while the Joey Bosa news broke, so like
- 2:55Speaker 1: that happening during the show felt like I just feel
- 2:59Speaker 1: like kind of connected to because of that. And then
- 3:01Speaker 1: when he got injured during what it was at OTA's
- 3:04Speaker 1: or mini camp or whatever it was earlier this offseason,
- 3:07Speaker 1: I did another episode, you know, kind of focusing on him,
- 3:10Speaker 1: talking about what he meant in theory, in terms of projection,
- 3:14Speaker 1: in terms of floor sealing, all that kind of stuff,
- 3:16Speaker 1: and actual practical application amongst the defensive line and amongst
- 3:20Speaker 1: the defense. And now we still do not have anywhere
- 3:22Speaker 1: close to a proper sample size. We are two games
- 3:24Speaker 1: in two completely different caliber of opponents in the Ravens
- 3:29Speaker 1: in week one and the Jets in week two. But
- 3:35Speaker 1: you know, he had such a strong performance in week two,
- 3:37Speaker 1: so I thought it would be fun to kind of
- 3:39Speaker 1: catalog it a little bit, talk about it, break it down,
- 3:42Speaker 1: and then again attach it to the larger discussion of
- 3:45Speaker 1: how important he is, what he means to this defensive line,
- 3:47Speaker 1: what he merely means to the defense as a whole.
- 3:50Speaker 1: And yeah, I thought that'd be fun for us to
- 3:53Speaker 1: do in this episode. I kind of want to start
- 3:57Speaker 1: off with some stats and advanced metrics for where Bosa
- 4:02Speaker 1: is right now. A league wide amongst the qualifying defenders,
- 4:06Speaker 1: but then also within you know, respect to the actual
- 4:09Speaker 1: Bills players themselves on this team. And again I do
- 4:11Speaker 1: want to preface what I am saying in this entire episode.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Also good coming here from djfinessaying everyone smashed that like
- 4:18Speaker 1: button on time for Bill's Manfia, appreciate you.
- 4:20Speaker 3: Thank you very much.
- 4:21Speaker 1: I don't know if you meant on time, but one time,
- 4:22Speaker 1: I don't care. I appreciate it. Likes to the lifeblood
- 4:24Speaker 1: of these streams. So please please please and thank you.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Drop a like here on YouTube. If you are watching
- 4:31Speaker 1: this episode, please please thank you, and if you're enjoying it,
- 4:33Speaker 1: all that kind of stuff, word of mouth, positive feedback,
- 4:35Speaker 1: all that kind of stuff. And I like this com
- 4:36Speaker 1: of okay more. He's saying this defense isn't yet in
- 4:39Speaker 1: its final form dot dot dot dot whatever that may
- 4:42Speaker 1: mean in January, knock on what absolutely fingers crossed, no jinks,
- 4:46Speaker 1: all of that. Hopefully everybody stays healthy. I knew it
- 4:49Speaker 1: was one time. I just felt it. As I read it.
- 4:50Speaker 1: I was like, I think he means one time, but
- 4:52Speaker 1: it is what it is. So I want to give
- 4:54Speaker 1: give some advanced metrics to kind of put Bosa's early,
- 4:58Speaker 1: you know, performance, especially that two performance, kind of into
- 5:02Speaker 1: perspective for you guys. And again, as I mentioned and
- 5:06Speaker 1: alluded to, we're two games into the season. If the
- 5:11Speaker 1: Bills were zero in too and have been outscored zero
- 5:13Speaker 1: to one hundred, or if they were two and oh
- 5:15Speaker 1: they are too and oh but it had outscored their
- 5:17Speaker 1: opponents one hundred and nothing, it's still just two games in.
- 5:20Speaker 1: We don't know who these teams are going to actually be.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Someone could turn it around, someone could fall apart. We
- 5:26Speaker 1: don't know how injuries will impact teams. That's not just
- 5:29Speaker 1: for the Bills, it's for anybody and everybody. So do
- 5:32Speaker 1: take everything with a bit of a grain of salt.
- 5:35Speaker 1: But I say all that just to preface some of
- 5:38Speaker 1: the stats because some of these are kind of stark
- 5:40Speaker 1: in positive and negative way as well. Stark doesn't really
- 5:42Speaker 1: kind of shade it great, but nonetheless, let's talk about it.
- 5:44Speaker 1: So some Buffalo Bills defensive line stats amongst two hundred
- 5:49Speaker 1: and four qualifying defenders. Is this is based on like
- 5:52Speaker 1: total rushing aps. I thought this would be nice going
- 5:54Speaker 1: to lead off this episode and kind of put into
- 5:55Speaker 1: perspective what Joey Bosa has meant so far to the
- 5:58Speaker 1: Buffalo Bills defensive line. So overall league wide, amongst those
- 6:03Speaker 1: two hundred and four qualifying defenders, Joey Bosa right now
- 6:07Speaker 1: is second in pass rush productivity. That is, you know
- 6:11Speaker 1: PFF formula that combined sacks plus hits plus hurries and
- 6:15Speaker 1: divides it by play count. So we second in past
- 6:17Speaker 1: russ productivity. He's third in pressure rate at twenty seven
- 6:22Speaker 1: point three percent, and he's tenth in win rate at
- 6:26Speaker 1: twenty four point two percent. Now, a lot of that
- 6:30Speaker 1: has been carried by what he did in Week two
- 6:33Speaker 1: against the Jets, and some of that also, you know,
- 6:36Speaker 1: from a Ravens perspective, we know they ran the ball
- 6:39Speaker 1: a ton in that game. Different kind of game script,
- 6:41Speaker 1: different kind of offense and mentality. But you know, the
- 6:44Speaker 1: number is very different from Week one against the Ravens
- 6:46Speaker 1: versus Week two against the Jets. So his pass rus
- 6:50Speaker 1: productivity in Week one against the Ravens was five point six,
- 6:53Speaker 1: Week two against the Jets was twenty six point seven.
- 6:56Speaker 1: His pressure rate in Week one against the Ravens was
- 6:59Speaker 1: eleven point one per his pressure rate in we two
- 7:01Speaker 1: against the Jets forty six point seven percent, an almost
- 7:06Speaker 1: fifty percent pressure rate is just absolutely insane. And then
- 7:10Speaker 1: his win rate eleven point one percent in Week one
- 7:13Speaker 1: against the Ravens, forty percent in Week two against the Jets.
- 7:17Speaker 1: So just three crazy advanced metrics that are based on
- 7:20Speaker 1: efficiency and kind of tie into success, you know, just
- 7:24Speaker 1: three wild numbers against the Jets, and we two for
- 7:28Speaker 1: past rus productivity, pressure rate, and win rate. Now, again
- 7:33Speaker 1: we're only two weeks in, but I wanted to juxtapose
- 7:36Speaker 1: his performance so as far from a metrics standpoint before
- 7:39Speaker 1: we dive into the tape with several of the other
- 7:41Speaker 1: players on the defensive line for the Buffalo Bills. So
- 7:44Speaker 1: I kind of ranked everybody by Pastor's productivity and that's
- 7:47Speaker 1: where I went. So Bosa's second in past Rus productivity. Also,
- 7:50Speaker 1: I kind of want to mention this nugget as well.
- 7:52Speaker 1: The Bills haven't had many chances to rush the quarterback,
- 7:56Speaker 1: just off of the game script of the Ravens game
- 7:58Speaker 1: and then how the Jets game went. They are last
- 8:02Speaker 1: right now in the league in terms of passes faced,
- 8:04Speaker 1: with only forty seven passes faced. So everything now from
- 8:08Speaker 1: an efficiency standpoint, it's good that we're seeing success for
- 8:11Speaker 1: Bosa and some of these other guys that we're going
- 8:12Speaker 1: to talk about here, but all of that is within
- 8:15Speaker 1: the landscape of they have not seen a lot of
- 8:18Speaker 1: pass attempts. They have not seen a lot of that
- 8:21Speaker 1: aspect of the game at all as a defense right now,
- 8:23Speaker 1: just based on how much Baltimore ran the ball in
- 8:26Speaker 1: Week one, based off how the game script flowed in
- 8:28Speaker 1: we two against the Jets, So they have not seen
- 8:31Speaker 1: a ton of pass attempts. So as we go forward,
- 8:33Speaker 1: some of these metrics from efficiency standpoint will start to
- 8:36Speaker 1: creep down. Some of their volume metrics will also go up,
- 8:39Speaker 1: like total pressures and where they rank. So we talk
- 8:43Speaker 1: about Bosa crazy good numbers second, and pass rus productivity third,
- 8:46Speaker 1: and pressure rate tenth and win rate amongst two hundred
- 8:48Speaker 1: and four qualifying defenders. TJ. Sanders next up, tied for
- 8:52Speaker 1: thirty third and pass rus productivity tied for nineteenth in
- 8:56Speaker 1: pressure rate at eighteen point two percent, but one hundred
- 8:59Speaker 1: and seventy second in win rate at four point five percent.
- 9:02Speaker 1: I think that is reflective of Sanders getting you know,
- 9:07Speaker 1: kind of some schemed up wins or some you know,
- 9:10Speaker 1: coverage type of pressures where quarterbacks holding on to it
- 9:13Speaker 1: a bit long. We saw that against the Jets where
- 9:16Speaker 1: he had an almost sack because the coverage holding pretty
- 9:19Speaker 1: well for the Bills and eventually some guys got home
- 9:21Speaker 1: and got through. But encouraging to see a little bit
- 9:24Speaker 1: for t J. Sanders. I don't think the metrics are
- 9:26Speaker 1: necessarily reflective of what he's been on tape. But we're
- 9:30Speaker 1: two games in. Greg grew so third on the Bills
- 9:34Speaker 1: in pass rus productivity amongst the qualifying Bills players and
- 9:37Speaker 1: tie for fiftieth in past rus productivity amongst those two
- 9:41Speaker 1: hundred and four qualifying defenders, one hundred and seventh in
- 9:44Speaker 1: pressure rate at nine point seven percent, tie for one
- 9:48Speaker 1: hundred and ninth in win rate, also at nine point
- 9:52Speaker 1: seven percent. This is kind of a sticking point that
- 9:55Speaker 1: I again, two games in. I'm gonna continue to say this,
- 9:59Speaker 1: right because I I know people tune in at different points,
- 10:01Speaker 1: whether watching live or they skip around a little bit
- 10:03Speaker 1: watching post live audio video whatever. I'm gonna keep saying this.
- 10:07Speaker 1: We're only two games in, so the sample size is
- 10:08Speaker 1: really there. But something we talked about this offseason on
- 10:12Speaker 1: this show, and part of why I talked about Joey
- 10:14Speaker 1: Bosa being so important to This Bill's defensive line and
- 10:17Speaker 1: to This Bill's defense was my belief that although I
- 10:22Speaker 1: love Greg Russo and I was happy to see him
- 10:25Speaker 1: get paid, I don't think he's an edge one as
- 10:28Speaker 1: a pass rusher. We've said it on the show, What's
- 10:30Speaker 1: the Line, He's more of a Robin than he is
- 10:32Speaker 1: a Batman when it comes to being a pass rusher.
- 10:34Speaker 1: He is legitimately one of the best run defending edges
- 10:38Speaker 1: and defensive linemen in all of football. And it's not
- 10:41Speaker 1: just because he's big or strong or long. It's that
- 10:43Speaker 1: plus the way he sees the game and how he
- 10:45Speaker 1: understands it. So he's one of the best run defending
- 10:48Speaker 1: edges and defensive linemen in all of football. But he's
- 10:50Speaker 1: not quite there as a pass rusher. And that was
- 10:53Speaker 1: part of what I talked about when it came to
- 10:56Speaker 1: the importance of Joey Bosa, because I thought the most
- 10:59Speaker 1: likely path to the Bill's having a true edge one
- 11:01Speaker 1: as a pass rusher was Joey Bosa staying healthy and
- 11:04Speaker 1: being that guy. The other opportunities were, you know, sure,
- 11:07Speaker 1: Greg Russau takes a jump and becomes an edge one,
- 11:10Speaker 1: or you just have a whole bunch of edge twos
- 11:13Speaker 1: in the aggregate. You have Rousseau, who's an edge two
- 11:15Speaker 1: as a rusher. You've got you know, Michael Hoyt, who
- 11:18Speaker 1: is a chess piece and kind of like an edge
- 11:19Speaker 1: three edge two. Maybe Javon Solomon takes a jump. Maybe
- 11:23Speaker 1: Landon Jackson was going to stand out as a rookie.
- 11:25Speaker 1: Maybe aj Panessa got back to for him as a
- 11:27Speaker 1: pass rusher, you know, kind of you know the moneyball
- 11:29Speaker 1: line that everybody uses for everything now and kind of
- 11:31Speaker 1: build an edge one in the aggregate. But what we've
- 11:35Speaker 1: seen thus far a bit underwhelming from Rousseau as a
- 11:38Speaker 1: pass rusher. Again, I think a lot of it is
- 11:40Speaker 1: because he he's grown a lot as a player, and
- 11:45Speaker 1: I do want to say that, you know, him being
- 11:46Speaker 1: like an edge two as a rusher is a testament
- 11:49Speaker 1: to what he's been overall. Like he came into this
- 11:52Speaker 1: league raw, with not a lot of snaps under his belt,
- 11:55Speaker 1: and he quickly turned in one of the best run
- 11:57Speaker 1: defending edges in football, and he's gotten better each years
- 12:00Speaker 1: a rusher. But you just don't necessarily necessarily see the
- 12:05Speaker 1: skill set translate regularly as a rusher in terms of
- 12:08Speaker 1: more pass, rush, plan and attack, I think than anything else,
- 12:11Speaker 1: he does have several nice tools. Obviously he's not gonna
- 12:14Speaker 1: have the dimp in the bend and the athleticism the
- 12:16Speaker 1: change of direction that other guys have, but the length
- 12:18Speaker 1: plays well. The hand placement, the pop, the shock in
- 12:21Speaker 1: the hands that he has plays well. And he hasn't
- 12:23Speaker 1: been able to develop like an inside move, you know,
- 12:25Speaker 1: stab and being able to get inside in addition to
- 12:27Speaker 1: just being able to go through outside shoulders or when
- 12:30Speaker 1: that half man relationship on the outside, or going through
- 12:32Speaker 1: someone's chest. But you just haven't really seen it in
- 12:34Speaker 1: totality for him as a true edge one. And I
- 12:37Speaker 1: think the numbers so far these first two weeks are
- 12:40Speaker 1: kind of reflective of that. Again, it is two weeks.
- 12:43Speaker 1: Bosa could fall off the face of the earth, Groot
- 12:45Speaker 1: could rise up to become one of the best. From
- 12:48Speaker 1: a metric standpoint, it's two weeks in. But I do
- 12:51Speaker 1: think that's interesting where you're looking at edge one and
- 12:53Speaker 1: edge two for the Bills, but you know the starting
- 12:55Speaker 1: the to top two edges on the depth chart are
- 12:57Speaker 1: Groot and Bosa. However, you want to put them amongst
- 13:00Speaker 1: those two hundred and four qualifying defenders. Bosa's second and
- 13:03Speaker 1: pastor's productivity groot is tied for fiftieth, Bosa's third, and
- 13:06Speaker 1: pressure rate groot is one hundred and seventh Bosa's tenth,
- 13:09Speaker 1: and win rate groot is tied for one hundred and ninth.
- 13:12Speaker 1: I don't think Bosa's gonna stay up there for the
- 13:14Speaker 1: whole year. He's obviously going to regress to the mean
- 13:16Speaker 1: a little bit, just like I think Rousseau will regress
- 13:19Speaker 1: to probably end up being in like the low thirties,
- 13:22Speaker 1: maybe high to mid twenties, maybe low twenties. Hopefully you
- 13:25Speaker 1: can get that, but that's kind of where they are
- 13:28Speaker 1: as of now. Daikwon Jones sixty fifth and pastors productivity
- 13:31Speaker 1: tied for one hundred and thirty fifth in pressure rate
- 13:34Speaker 1: at seven point four percent, tie for one hundred and
- 13:36Speaker 1: thirty ninth and win rate also at seven point four percent.
- 13:39Speaker 1: Jamon Solomon tie for ninety first impastors productivity tie for
- 13:43Speaker 1: seventy third in pressure rate at twelve point five percent,
- 13:46Speaker 1: one hundred and twenty third in win rate at eight
- 13:48Speaker 1: point three percent. There are three bills defensive linemen that
- 13:52Speaker 1: did not qualify amongst the two hundred and four just
- 13:55Speaker 1: based off of total rush snaps, those are at Oliver,
- 13:58Speaker 1: aj Apanessa, and dian Walker. But I have their numbers anyway.
- 14:01Speaker 1: At Oliver obviously because he missed Week two against the Jets.
- 14:08Speaker 1: The comment his perfect comment segway from AJJ aj RJ
- 14:12Speaker 1: about aj Epanessa. RJ says, isn't aj eleventh and pass
- 14:16Speaker 1: rush win rate? I thought I saw that today, So
- 14:20Speaker 1: also depends on where you look and kind of what
- 14:23Speaker 1: you take a peek at. But Ajvanessa just I think
- 14:28Speaker 1: this is interesting with aj Panessa because he essentially didn't
- 14:30Speaker 1: qualify because he hasn't had enough pass rush snaps, and
- 14:35Speaker 1: I think that's interesting to continue to talk about kind
- 14:38Speaker 1: of the usage for AJ Panessa. We talked about it
- 14:44Speaker 1: on the show multi time multitude of times. We've talked
- 14:46Speaker 1: about it in the film room, kind of his moving
- 14:50Speaker 1: away from being more of a pass rush guy and
- 14:53Speaker 1: a third down guy to being more of a early
- 14:55Speaker 1: down player, a first and second down type of guy.
- 15:00Speaker 1: And that's reflected not just in his usage and like
- 15:04Speaker 1: in the game, but also in the metrics. Because he
- 15:05Speaker 1: didn't qualify here, he played in game one. He played
- 15:08Speaker 1: in game two, he sees a good chunk of snaps,
- 15:10Speaker 1: but a lot of them have been run focused Again,
- 15:12Speaker 1: the Ravens ran the ball a ton in week one,
- 15:15Speaker 1: and then game script in week two, and the wonkiness
- 15:17Speaker 1: so on and so forth. But I do think you
- 15:19Speaker 1: know him not qualifying is reflective of his usage rate.
- 15:22Speaker 1: But we're gonna go with these three non qualifying Bills.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Defensive lineman Ed Oliver would be second on the Bills
- 15:29Speaker 1: impass reus productivity and having to score thirteen point nine,
- 15:33Speaker 1: so pretty close to Bosa's fifteen point two again for reference,
- 15:36Speaker 1: Bosa's PRP puts him second amongst those two hundred twelve
- 15:39Speaker 1: four and two hundred and four qualifying defenders at Oliver's
- 15:43Speaker 1: pressure rate twenty two point two percent for reference, Again,
- 15:47Speaker 1: Bosa was third with twenty seven point three at. Oliver's
- 15:50Speaker 1: win rate not quite there with Bosa's. His win rate
- 15:53Speaker 1: is eleven point one percent. Bosa's again tenth in amongst
- 15:57Speaker 1: those two hundreds four qualifying at twenty four point two percent.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Aj Epanessa third best pass rush productivity on the Buffalo
- 16:04Speaker 1: Bills with a score of eleven point eight, only behind
- 16:07Speaker 1: Ed Oliver and Joey Bosa in past rus productivity also
- 16:10Speaker 1: second best team, second best pressure rate on the Bills
- 16:14Speaker 1: at twenty three point five percent, one point three percent
- 16:18Speaker 1: higher than at Oliver, and then a win rate of
- 16:21Speaker 1: five point nine percent, again showing a little bit the
- 16:23Speaker 1: effectiveness within the scheme and what he can do, but
- 16:25Speaker 1: not necessarily from an individual standpoint, kind of tearing it
- 16:30Speaker 1: up showing that aspect. Again, win rate from a PFF
- 16:34Speaker 1: standpoint is the pass rushing win percentage, So it's pressures
- 16:38Speaker 1: plus beaten defenders minus unblocked pressures divided by total pass
- 16:42Speaker 1: rush snaps, so it takes into account you beating a defender. Again,
- 16:46Speaker 1: hence the kind of quote unquote win rounding out everyone
- 16:49Speaker 1: here and not from a very impressive standpoint, Dion Walker
- 16:54Speaker 1: a pass rus productivity of three point one which is
- 16:57Speaker 1: extremely low. Third, very low pressure rate as well at
- 17:03Speaker 1: six point three percent, a win rate of twelve point
- 17:06Speaker 1: five percent, which is nice to see, but I think
- 17:08Speaker 1: again that speaks to kind of him finding his footing.
- 17:11Speaker 1: You're not necessarily seeing him be the world beater that
- 17:14Speaker 1: he was in the preseason against second third, maybe even
- 17:17Speaker 1: fourteen guys, but starting to find his foot a little bit.
- 17:21Speaker 1: I know it's not the easiest thing to hear numbers
- 17:24Speaker 1: coming at you without seeing him onnographic, but hope I
- 17:27Speaker 1: outline that pretty well for anyone. If everyone, anyone has
- 17:29Speaker 1: a question thot comic concern wants me to go back
- 17:31Speaker 1: to anything on any of that, please let me know.
- 17:34Speaker 1: But I gave all those to kind of be the
- 17:36Speaker 1: lead in for the tape, but also to put into
- 17:38Speaker 1: the larger discussion of what I said in the off
- 17:42Speaker 1: season when Bosa got banged up and we focused on
- 17:45Speaker 1: him for an entire episode here. I still think, as
- 17:47Speaker 1: of right now, the Bill's best path to having a
- 17:50Speaker 1: true edge one from a pass rush standpoint, is Joey
- 17:54Speaker 1: Bosa staying healthy. I'm not ruling out Greg Russau taking
- 17:58Speaker 1: a jump or again being a to do it in
- 18:00Speaker 1: the aggregate, but I think both of those aspects have
- 18:03Speaker 1: a lower probability than if Bosa's healthy. He's the guy.
- 18:08Speaker 1: The health is just the biggest question mark. I'm not
- 18:09Speaker 1: saying anything revelatory, not saying anything that folks don't know.
- 18:14Speaker 1: It's a huge question mark as to whether or not
- 18:15Speaker 1: he can stay healthy. But what he did on Sunday.
- 18:19Speaker 1: And also for as much as like everybody's kind of
- 18:23Speaker 1: making jokes about the Jets or about fields or about
- 18:25Speaker 1: their team. You know, Memba right tackle played well in
- 18:29Speaker 1: Week one against TJ. Watt and then Ola Fashanu on
- 18:33Speaker 1: the other side their left tackle. He's still a good prospect.
- 18:36Speaker 1: He handled himself well against high Smith and the dudes
- 18:39Speaker 1: of Pittsburgh was rolling out. High Smith got him on
- 18:40Speaker 1: a really nice inside move early or no late in
- 18:44Speaker 1: that game, I should say, in week one. But they
- 18:47Speaker 1: have some good tackles, so it's not like Bosa was
- 18:49Speaker 1: just out there. You know, Yes, Memba was a rookie
- 18:51Speaker 1: and for Shana doesn't have a ton of snaps under
- 18:52Speaker 1: his belt, but it's not just like Bosa was cooking
- 18:55Speaker 1: scrubs or you know, garbage type of dudes. Also at
- 18:58Speaker 1: that same you know, play Devil's advocate. You could also
- 19:00Speaker 1: speak to some of the other guys in the Bills
- 19:02Speaker 1: not necessarily having those that same level of productivity even
- 19:05Speaker 1: though they're going up against the same type of competition.
- 19:08Speaker 1: I think that's a conversation for another time. But I'd
- 19:11Speaker 1: say all to say I say all that to say,
- 19:15Speaker 1: I should say Bosa staying healthy is hugely important because
- 19:19Speaker 1: he is their best chance of being the edge one
- 19:22Speaker 1: that this team needs, and I think really any contender needs.
- 19:24Speaker 1: You don't necessarily have to have a stud rusher or
- 19:28Speaker 1: a stud guy at a premium position, but if not,
- 19:31Speaker 1: you got to have multiple Like if you don't have
- 19:33Speaker 1: a true like A or A plus guide a premium position,
- 19:35Speaker 1: you just need to have multiple B pluses or an
- 19:38Speaker 1: A minus and a B plus or everyone is a B.
- 19:40Speaker 1: And I don't think the Bills have that in their
- 19:42Speaker 1: edge grouping, So I do think they need an edge one,
- 19:44Speaker 1: especially with how this team is built and how this
- 19:46Speaker 1: team relies on the front floor. And Joey Bosa showed
- 19:51Speaker 1: because he's healthy right now. When healthy, I don't think
- 19:55Speaker 1: he's that guy that was in his prime with the Chargers.
- 19:58Speaker 1: But when healthy, he is still a very very very
- 20:01Speaker 1: very effective player against the run and against the pass. Yes,
- 20:05Speaker 1: some of the readoption stuff and the RPO stuff, not
- 20:09Speaker 1: the RPO stuff, the zone read stuff against Baltimore kind
- 20:11Speaker 1: of put him in a blender a bit, but some
- 20:13Speaker 1: of that was more assignment and call than it was
- 20:16Speaker 1: kind of him individually. But he's still very effective as
- 20:20Speaker 1: a pass rusher. He's great and understanding angles and for
- 20:24Speaker 1: offensive tackles in their pass sets, understanding where quarterbacks are
- 20:27Speaker 1: going to drop to and how to act accordingly. He
- 20:30Speaker 1: has a good feel for how to win outside inside
- 20:35Speaker 1: going through someone. You've got, very good hand usage, good power.
- 20:39Speaker 1: He's just very good at the science of pass rushing.
- 20:42Speaker 1: And he still has a good physical presence in addition
- 20:44Speaker 1: to being able to kind of throw offensive tackles off
- 20:46Speaker 1: their game, which we're going to show him the tape,
- 20:48Speaker 1: which he did on several occasions against the Jets. It
- 20:52Speaker 1: all just comes down to health, which we all know.
- 20:55Speaker 1: But I don't think him playing that well against the
- 20:59Speaker 1: Jets was anything crazy, because again, what we saw the
- 21:02Speaker 1: past couple of years, when healthy, he's still been very good.
- 21:05Speaker 1: The issue is just that when he's been playing, he's
- 21:09Speaker 1: still been banged up with these soft muscle type of
- 21:11Speaker 1: injuries like groin injuries, hip injuries, things that like limit
- 21:14Speaker 1: his movement, limit his effectiveness. So you're playing, but you're
- 21:18Speaker 1: like seventy percent or sixty percent or something like that,
- 21:20Speaker 1: however you want to quantify it. I do think what's
- 21:22Speaker 1: interesting with the whole injury history with Bosa is for
- 21:25Speaker 1: the most part, especially if you're kind of juxtaposing him
- 21:28Speaker 1: with von Miller. All of Bosa's injuries, even though they've
- 21:31Speaker 1: been more frequent, have all not really been too like
- 21:35Speaker 1: career debilitating. It's not like we tore his acl multiple
- 21:39Speaker 1: times where he popped in achilles or he broke this.
- 21:42Speaker 1: It's always been like a strained this, a poll this.
- 21:45Speaker 1: It's been more of kind of like the injury, you know,
- 21:47Speaker 1: the nagging soft muscle type of injuries. Whereas that's funny
- 21:52Speaker 1: U r J says, is Joey Bosa the mad Milano
- 21:54Speaker 1: defensive end. No, because Mlanal's had like arm breaks and
- 21:58Speaker 1: leg breaks and buy some to Bosas stuff is always
- 22:01Speaker 1: like yeah, more of these like not I don't want
- 22:04Speaker 1: to say minor, but more just nagging injuries that linger
- 22:07Speaker 1: and don't go away. From a soft muscle standpoint, Milonia's
- 22:10Speaker 1: had a couple of freak injuries and also like bone
- 22:12Speaker 1: breaks and just crazy stuff like things that you're just
- 22:15Speaker 1: caught in the wrong place at the wrong time and
- 22:17Speaker 1: something snaps. Bosa's more just like hamstrings and quads and
- 22:21Speaker 1: groins and stuff. There's those little nagging things that you
- 22:25Speaker 1: can't get on the field because you can't move in
- 22:27Speaker 1: certain ways to be effective, but it's not going to
- 22:29Speaker 1: destroy your career. But it's also hard to rehabit because
- 22:32Speaker 1: you don't really get the opportunity to rest your groin
- 22:35Speaker 1: or rest your quad or your hammy unless you don't move,
- 22:38Speaker 1: and it's impossible to kind of do that. But I
- 22:40Speaker 1: also think it's funny how that kind of plays into
- 22:42Speaker 1: what Bosa is now, which is, you know, for being
- 22:46Speaker 1: a vet and having some miles on the tires and
- 22:48Speaker 1: being up there in age a little bit relative NFL players,
- 22:52Speaker 1: he's almost still kind of fresh in a way because
- 22:56Speaker 1: he doesn't have a lot of like strict wear and
- 22:58Speaker 1: tear from a usage stamp point, and the injuries that
- 23:01Speaker 1: he has had haven't you know, caused the change in
- 23:06Speaker 1: play style. It's not like, oh, well, you know, he
- 23:08Speaker 1: was a speed rusher, but he tore his achilles and
- 23:10Speaker 1: it's just changed the way he's played. No, he hasn't
- 23:12Speaker 1: had anything like Von Miller that's kind of derailed him.
- 23:16Speaker 1: Von you know, Von was great at the science of
- 23:18Speaker 1: being a pass rusher and the cerebral aspect and the
- 23:21Speaker 1: technique aspect, but the miles on the tires plus multiple
- 23:24Speaker 1: ACL tears for a guy who a good chunk of
- 23:27Speaker 1: his game is predicated on dip and ben in athleticism,
- 23:31Speaker 1: that's much different than what Bosa is now. I see
- 23:33Speaker 1: the comments coming here that say, yoga a whole bunch.
- 23:35Speaker 3: That's funny.
- 23:37Speaker 1: Yeah, So if he can stay healthy, I think this
- 23:41Speaker 1: is the type of effectiveness he can have. I'm not
- 23:43Speaker 1: saying he's going to dominate week in and week out
- 23:45Speaker 1: like he did against the Jets, but I don't think
- 23:47Speaker 1: it's crazy to think that if Bosa can stay relatively healthy,
- 23:51Speaker 1: he can finish somewhere in the top twenty from a
- 23:54Speaker 1: pass rush standpoint and be close to like a true
- 23:57Speaker 1: edge one where we're looking at him from a perduction
- 24:00Speaker 1: and an advanced metrics standpoint of him being fifteen to twelve,
- 24:05Speaker 1: maybe even top ten in this league. And also keep
- 24:08Speaker 1: in mind, with everything, when he's been healthy, he's a
- 24:10Speaker 1: good run defender as well. He plays the run well
- 24:13Speaker 1: as a power rusher and as a guy who plays
- 24:15Speaker 1: with intensity. He plays the run well from a run
- 24:18Speaker 1: fit standpoint and responsibility standpoint. I didn't think the Bills
- 24:21Speaker 1: would play him as much against the run as they
- 24:23Speaker 1: have to start the year. I thought it would be
- 24:25Speaker 1: more Epanessa and Groot on early downs and Bosa on
- 24:29Speaker 1: pass rushing downs, but they've let Bosa play as if
- 24:32Speaker 1: he doesn't have an injury history, which could be positive
- 24:35Speaker 1: or negative, dependent on what side of the coin you
- 24:36Speaker 1: want to look at. I'm also interested to see what
- 24:38Speaker 1: the roles look like once Hoyt comes back as well.
- 24:42Speaker 1: But long story short, I still think Joey Bosa is extremely,
- 24:46Speaker 1: extremely important to this Bills, not only to their defensive line,
- 24:49Speaker 1: but the defense as a whole, because he is their
- 24:51Speaker 1: best chance at having a true edge one as a
- 24:54Speaker 1: pass rusher. Yes, if he goes down, you could do
- 24:57Speaker 1: some fun stuff with Hoyt. Groot is still I think
- 25:00Speaker 1: of solid edge two. You might get some flashes from
- 25:03Speaker 1: Apanessa here and there. Solomon's had some flashes, but you
- 25:06Speaker 1: really have to hope multiple guys take a jump if
- 25:08Speaker 1: Bosa goes down, and I think what we've seen kind
- 25:11Speaker 1: of to start the year is somewhat reflective of that,
- 25:13Speaker 1: although the sample size is small, and I want to
- 25:16Speaker 1: keep reiterating that so people, No one jumps in and look,
- 25:19Speaker 1: it's only two games in. This is ridiculous. YadA YadA
- 25:21Speaker 1: positively or negatively. We're two weeks in. It's kind of
- 25:24Speaker 1: see but really encouraging return on investment so far with
- 25:29Speaker 1: Joey Bosa and yeah, as we talk about it, just
- 25:32Speaker 1: it's gonna come down to health every single time, every
- 25:35Speaker 1: single week. Now, let's get into some tape. Actually, you
- 25:39Speaker 1: know what, let me go into grab some comments really
- 25:43Speaker 1: fast before we dive into the tape. I'm going all
- 25:45Speaker 1: the way back here from the beginning. You see all
- 25:49Speaker 1: the kind words and people coming through.
- 25:52Speaker 3: M hmm.
- 25:54Speaker 1: Joey says, he's looking like von did the first eight
- 25:57Speaker 1: games we had him. The energy is fantastic.
- 26:00Speaker 3: Man.
- 26:01Speaker 1: Vaughn very much was the prince that was promised before
- 26:03Speaker 1: he tore that acl in Detroit. So if he could
- 26:07Speaker 1: replicate that for an entire season in the playoffs, I
- 26:10Speaker 1: would take that. Ron says Josh Allen's gonna come out
- 26:14Speaker 1: of the tunnel the blue drug Vader helmet. I wanted
- 26:16Speaker 1: to wear a colored advisor. So bad, so bad, so bad,
- 26:18Speaker 1: so bad? What did finess? I think we should sign
- 26:27Speaker 1: up for at least two more years? Oh, James says,
- 26:29Speaker 1: group found his batman. If Bosa could be the batman
- 26:32Speaker 1: to groots, Robin, I would take that. I would take that.
- 26:36Speaker 1: I like this comedy from Cecil saying, and Bosa's happy
- 26:38Speaker 1: to be on the Bills. He has crazy, good, childlike energy.
- 26:41Speaker 1: If he stays healthy, he will be elite in all
- 26:43Speaker 1: caps of this season. I think that's an interesting point
- 26:45Speaker 1: and not just like a fan point, like him even saying,
- 26:49Speaker 1: you know, the amount of like stuff they've done together
- 26:51Speaker 1: is more than he did with his time and the Chargers,
- 26:53Speaker 1: And I think like the sideline interactions, the behind the
- 26:55Speaker 1: scenes stuff, in some the on the field stuff, he
- 26:59Speaker 1: he does look like he's just neuinely enjoying himself. And
- 27:01Speaker 1: I think part of it is knowing like you're on
- 27:02Speaker 1: a legitimate super Bowl contender. And also because you know,
- 27:06Speaker 1: no Jink's fingers crossed. He is healthy at this point.
- 27:08Speaker 1: You know he doesn't feel broken down or hurt. He's
- 27:10Speaker 1: not playing through pain, So that's a positive in and
- 27:13Speaker 1: of itself. And then also you're playing on this team
- 27:15Speaker 1: with a good culture that believes it can win the
- 27:17Speaker 1: super Bowl and is having a good start of the year.
- 27:21Speaker 1: So yeah, all signs are kind of pointing up for
- 27:22Speaker 1: him to have that positive energy. But yeah, I think
- 27:24Speaker 1: you've kind of felt that in camp as well. Ron
- 27:29Speaker 1: says Walker needs to work hard on his pad level
- 27:31Speaker 1: and he needs to stay down and stop popping up
- 27:33Speaker 1: on the ball to snap. This is I think it's
- 27:35Speaker 1: a fair point, and it's also part of one of
- 27:37Speaker 1: my bigger concerns when it comes to Dion Walker. I
- 27:39Speaker 1: don't know if he's gonna really be able to fix
- 27:41Speaker 1: his pad level just because of how he's built, the height,
- 27:44Speaker 1: the frame, the lack of bend, like it's just gonna
- 27:47Speaker 1: be hard for a dude like that to constantly play
- 27:49Speaker 1: with leverage and win, which is part of what scared
- 27:52Speaker 1: me away from him, in addition to the back injury
- 27:54Speaker 1: and kind of how he was, you know, shaped in proportioned,
- 27:57Speaker 1: but he worked on the proportion piece. We'll see if
- 28:00Speaker 1: he can correct some other things, but yeah, pad level
- 28:03Speaker 1: is consistently going to be an issue, and you see
- 28:05Speaker 1: that a lot on double team blocks. If he doesn't
- 28:07Speaker 1: recognize the double team coming, he gets displaced very easily.
- 28:11Speaker 1: We saw it on multiple runs against the Jets where
- 28:13Speaker 1: he got up and bank he just got knocked right
- 28:15Speaker 1: out of his gap and ali or a hole was created
- 28:18Speaker 1: just because he kind of gets displaced horizontally. It can
- 28:22Speaker 1: happen vertically as well, but he just because he's so tall,
- 28:25Speaker 1: if he gets hit kind of in that torso or
- 28:27Speaker 1: that lower back, the small the back or the hips there,
- 28:29Speaker 1: he can just kind of get displaced really easily and
- 28:31Speaker 1: then the alley opens up.
- 28:38Speaker 3: What else?
- 28:39Speaker 1: What Claude said, I don't need to see Bosa anymore
- 28:42Speaker 1: this year. Let's save him for January. I think that's fair.
- 28:45Speaker 3: That's fair.
- 28:47Speaker 1: Yeah, good comedy from Connor saying Bosa has quote unquote
- 28:49Speaker 1: small injuries but not catastrophic ones like acl tears. Everything
- 28:53Speaker 1: that we're saying here and being said in the challenge
- 28:55Speaker 1: everybody to say no jinks and cross their fingers right
- 28:57Speaker 1: now at this time, please please, please, and thank you.
- 28:59Speaker 1: And I like this bad to back. Better do some
- 29:01Speaker 1: yoga and then yoga in all caps magic fishing Joey
- 29:04Speaker 1: is more power ages easier. Yeah, potentially, especially if you
- 29:08Speaker 1: combine it with a technique aspect. Ryan says we should
- 29:12Speaker 1: get Bosa a four week by when Hoyt comes back.
- 29:14Speaker 1: I actually don't hate that. Oh, this is a fun
- 29:18Speaker 1: one from Cecil saying I don't care about tackles and
- 29:20Speaker 1: not too much about sacks, just force but just one
- 29:22Speaker 1: forced fumble a game, while he had two in this one.
- 29:24Speaker 1: So nice from William would like Landa Jackson to be
- 29:27Speaker 1: active just so Bosa doesn't have to play in the
- 29:29Speaker 1: fourth during a blowout. I think we could also get
- 29:31Speaker 1: there naturally, just with Hoyt coming back. But I feel
- 29:33Speaker 1: you on that, Okay more, he says, what do you
- 29:35Speaker 1: think about Solomon's usage kicking inside? I like Javon Solomon.
- 29:43Speaker 1: I haven't seen the effectiveness completely that I wanted to,
- 29:45Speaker 1: even in the preseason. You know, he looked good in camp,
- 29:47Speaker 1: and he looked good in the scrimmage. Preseason was a
- 29:50Speaker 1: some he played well, but not necessarily the kind of
- 29:52Speaker 1: what I hope too, which is just my fault for expectations.
- 29:56Speaker 1: I do like him kicking inside. I think you know
- 29:58Speaker 1: him being able to utilize his quickness and move set
- 30:03Speaker 1: against guards but also work against guys inside who in
- 30:08Speaker 1: theory have smaller arm length and smaller builds and frames
- 30:12Speaker 1: should also help him. I think his biggest issue with
- 30:14Speaker 1: rushing outside against tackles is their size and frame and
- 30:18Speaker 1: length kind of working against him as a smaller guy,
- 30:20Speaker 1: even though he's got good hand size, and arm length,
- 30:22Speaker 1: especially for his size. He's still a smaller type of
- 30:25Speaker 1: defensive end, so I think anything you can do to
- 30:27Speaker 1: kind of help him, help tip the scales in his
- 30:31Speaker 1: favor when it comes to length and frame, which go
- 30:34Speaker 1: against guards and centers where those guys are usually smaller
- 30:38Speaker 1: in frame and length and offensive tackles. I do like that.
- 30:42Speaker 1: This is awesome. This is an awesome comment. The Cowson says,
- 30:46Speaker 1: I gotta rip by Ant's house on my chopper real quick.
- 30:48Speaker 1: Be right back. For those who don't know, between dis
- 30:50Speaker 1: guy's coverage in the film, in the past like three weeks,
- 30:52Speaker 1: I've had the windows open, the weather's been nice. I
- 30:56Speaker 1: just get a ton of motorcycles outside. I don't know why.
- 30:59Speaker 1: And it happens all the time during show. I could
- 31:01Speaker 1: do a show at five in the afternoon or nine
- 31:02Speaker 1: o'clock at night, just get crazy motorcycles riding by. This
- 31:05Speaker 1: is one of the best comments I've gotten. I love
- 31:07Speaker 1: just the inside joker connection. We're done, well done, well done. Yeah,
- 31:11Speaker 1: Ralph says Josh had a clear visor of practice today.
- 31:13Speaker 1: I want the tint looks so much better. I don't
- 31:15Speaker 1: know if he's legally allowed to do it, but I
- 31:16Speaker 1: like it. Joey says, what are your thoughts on Babbage
- 31:20Speaker 1: so far as our defensive coordinator. I like the adjustments
- 31:22Speaker 1: he made in game two. I like the creativity and
- 31:25Speaker 1: some of the coverage pieces. I'll be posting a bunch
- 31:27Speaker 1: more of those on Twitter tomorrow and on Blue Sky.
- 31:30Speaker 1: Eric and I'll be diving into the film room tomorrow
- 31:32Speaker 1: and go over some of them. I like what he's
- 31:34Speaker 1: done from some of the pressure package pieces and some
- 31:37Speaker 1: of the coverage creativity that we saw in this game
- 31:39Speaker 1: against the Jets, some of the you know, the bracketing
- 31:42Speaker 1: and the doubles that they gave Garrett Wilson, the five
- 31:45Speaker 1: zero looks up front to create one on one opportunities,
- 31:47Speaker 1: some of the creative coverage spins on the back end.
- 31:50Speaker 1: I'm encouraged. I'm still very much wait and see, especially
- 31:53Speaker 1: with how much they got dog walked against the Ravens,
- 31:58Speaker 1: but I am. I am hopeful.
- 32:01Speaker 3: For me.
- 32:02Speaker 1: A lot of it really is just they could be
- 32:04Speaker 1: the best defense in the league. I'm not gonna feel
- 32:07Speaker 1: confident until I see them be more matchup proof in
- 32:09Speaker 1: the playoffs. I know that's probably an unfair answer, but
- 32:12Speaker 1: that's really where I'm at but I will be more
- 32:13Speaker 1: encouraged obviously for the playoffs the better they play in
- 32:15Speaker 1: the regular season. But I'm encouraged so far. Got to
- 32:18Speaker 1: see it happen in the playoffs. I only read part
- 32:24Speaker 1: of this, so I don't really know what's happening here. No, thanks,
- 32:27Speaker 1: thank you very much for being here. Thank you very
- 32:29Speaker 1: much for the super chat. The comments is fifteen seconds
- 32:32Speaker 1: to thing. Gundier had three current players non qbs to
- 32:36Speaker 1: add to the current Bills roster. You have to win
- 32:39Speaker 1: the Super Bowl this year. Who are you picking non
- 32:42Speaker 1: qbs to add to the Bills roster? I am picking
- 32:45Speaker 1: Miles Garrett, I am picking Jeffrey Simmons, and I am
- 32:55Speaker 1: picking Kyle Hamilton. It's definitely gonna be a safety. I
- 33:05Speaker 1: really love Jesse Bates, but probably Kyle Hamilton. Yeah, probably
- 33:10Speaker 1: Kyle Hamilton. Yeah, I'm going all defense. I'm going Miles Garrett,
- 33:14Speaker 1: Jeffrey Simmons, and Kyle Hamilton outside shot at there's so
- 33:21Speaker 1: many safeties I like, Yeah, I'm going Kyle Hamilton. That
- 33:24Speaker 1: was a fun question. That's strussed the hell out of me,
- 33:26Speaker 1: But that was a fun question. What else? Oh, good
- 33:34Speaker 1: answer here from Connor Connor says Dexter Lawrence, Fred Warner
- 33:37Speaker 1: and Max Crosby. Yeah, you could go with Crosby too.
- 33:41Speaker 1: That was literally my head went to whether they were
- 33:43Speaker 1: the trade Cannons or not. My head immediately went to Crosby, Garrett,
- 33:47Speaker 1: defensive tackles tough. It really comes down to style. Like
- 33:50Speaker 1: I thought about Chris Jones for a minute, Dexter Lawrence
- 33:53Speaker 1: is crazy good. I just love Jeffrey Simmons' game and
- 33:56Speaker 1: what he brings from a run standpoint, a past standpoint,
- 34:00Speaker 1: like the versatility on the inside, like he can play
- 34:03Speaker 1: some three, he can play some one, like you would
- 34:04Speaker 1: put him anywhere, and he's gonna win up front. I
- 34:07Speaker 1: like this is also a good answer from Cecil saying
- 34:10Speaker 1: three players Lamar, Henry and Mahomes just so they're not
- 34:13Speaker 1: on their teams, that's always good. You take it with you,
- 34:14Speaker 1: just stash from on the bench. I like that.
- 34:17Speaker 3: I like that a lot.
- 34:18Speaker 1: Yeah, tank Nita says, I don't think they're allowed to
- 34:20Speaker 1: wear ten advisors in games. I don't think so either,
- 34:22Speaker 1: but I also don't care, and I want it to
- 34:24Speaker 1: happen anyway. Oh Ron says Derwin James's fair answer Derman's fun.
- 34:33Speaker 1: Williams says no offensive players, and Jared says, no wide receiver.
- 34:36Speaker 1: I thought about it, but I just think the offense
- 34:40Speaker 1: is fine as it is. And I say that to say, like,
- 34:45Speaker 1: I think their receiving corps is built for the type
- 34:48Speaker 1: of offense they want, which is power football, run the ball,
- 34:52Speaker 1: condensed formations, heavy personnel, bigger body types, put defenses, run in, run,
- 34:57Speaker 1: pass conflict. If this was the Bills team from twenty
- 35:01Speaker 1: twenty and twenty twenty one, even into twenty twenty two,
- 35:04Speaker 1: I'd probably think about more of a wide receiver, like
- 35:06Speaker 1: I'd go for you know, Chase or Justin Jefferson just
- 35:09Speaker 1: for the hell of it. But I think the receivers
- 35:12Speaker 1: fit for what they want to do. You got guys
- 35:13Speaker 1: who can block, you, guys, got guys who can function
- 35:15Speaker 1: in the underneath, in the intermediate, and you're gonna run
- 35:19Speaker 1: the ball. You're gonna rely on your tight ends and
- 35:21Speaker 1: your six offensive lineman sets and James Cook and Josh Allen,
- 35:24Speaker 1: who's a great equalizer on that side of the ball.
- 35:27Speaker 1: So yeah, I picked defensive players because despite the fact
- 35:29Speaker 1: that the defense look good against the Jets, I still
- 35:32Speaker 1: do have concerns about this defense, and I'm worried in
- 35:37Speaker 1: some places. I also think too. Part of me, like,
- 35:40Speaker 1: as much as I took a safety, part of me
- 35:43Speaker 1: also thinks maybe, like I don't know, do we take
- 35:45Speaker 1: like Derek Stingley and then you've got Benford and Stingy
- 35:48Speaker 1: on the outside, and like who's doing anything outside? But yeah,
- 35:51Speaker 1: I'd probably go, uh all three defense are just says
- 35:56Speaker 1: I would add JJ or Chase. Imagine Allen with a
- 35:58Speaker 1: top tier wide receiver. I mean, I don't need to
- 36:00Speaker 1: imagine he had a top two wide receiver in Stefon Diggs.
- 36:02Speaker 1: It was awesome, But I think the type of offense
- 36:04Speaker 1: they have now doesn't necessarily need that as much as
- 36:08Speaker 1: the defense just needs. The defense needs really good players
- 36:14Speaker 1: at premium positions. But fair, I appreciate you kmore.
- 36:19Speaker 3: He likes those polls. I like that.
- 36:24Speaker 1: Jason says, do you think gab Davis will play when healthy?
- 36:28Speaker 1: I don't know, because I don't know what kind of
- 36:30Speaker 1: shape he's in. I don't I think there's a literal
- 36:33Speaker 1: pretty good, non zero chance of him playing. They like him.
- 36:35Speaker 1: He does the dirty work, and he fits this type
- 36:37Speaker 1: of offense better than he did probably the other type
- 36:40Speaker 1: of offense that he was in before. But yeah, I
- 36:44Speaker 1: think he will play at some point. Jason says, you
- 36:49Speaker 1: make me worry that you still look at it as
- 36:50Speaker 1: I am worried instead of I saw the improvement I
- 36:52Speaker 1: wanted to see. I feel like you were keeping secrets
- 36:53Speaker 1: from us you saw in the film. No, it's just early.
- 36:57Speaker 1: My concerns, and I've said on the show, my concerns
- 36:59Speaker 1: about the defense come down to being more matchup based
- 37:03Speaker 1: in the playoffs than anything else. I think they have been,
- 37:05Speaker 1: on the whole, a very good regular season defense that
- 37:08Speaker 1: just has not mattered come playoff time. Yes, there are
- 37:10Speaker 1: all the caveats of all the injuries that they've had
- 37:12Speaker 1: in the playoffs recently, but I and some of that
- 37:17Speaker 1: is coaching, you know, some of the matchup pieces are
- 37:19Speaker 1: coaching and play calling. But I also think some of
- 37:21Speaker 1: it is just the bodies. I don't think they've necessarily
- 37:23Speaker 1: had the horses to compete defensively. So much of the
- 37:29Speaker 1: game is you know, all that is like it's Jimmy's
- 37:31Speaker 1: and Joe is not x's and o's. I think they've
- 37:33Speaker 1: been times been deficient in the x's and o's, but
- 37:36Speaker 1: I also don't think they've had the Jimmy's and Joe's
- 37:38Speaker 1: that some of the other teams have had. And so
- 37:40Speaker 1: if I'm playing that game of like three non qbs
- 37:43Speaker 1: or whatever to bring, I'm picking some Jimmy's and Joe's
- 37:46Speaker 1: who I know are some of the best dudes at
- 37:48Speaker 1: their position that are also premium positions. And then in
- 37:51Speaker 1: the case of safety that I think the Bills you
- 37:54Speaker 1: could use a different type of starting safety for this team.
- 37:57Speaker 1: But that's where I go. Yeah, oh, Brad, thank you
- 38:03Speaker 1: very much for being here. Thank you very much for
- 38:04Speaker 1: the super chat. We're about to get to the film,
- 38:05Speaker 1: so I'm glad I saw this before I jumped into that.
- 38:07Speaker 1: Brad says, Bills are now over and under thirteen and
- 38:10Speaker 1: a half wins, assuming they go thirteen and four, Which
- 38:13Speaker 1: four games are you okay? Dropping one has to be
- 38:16Speaker 1: the AFC East, THEAFC North one case, or Houston one.
- 38:20Speaker 3: NFC.
- 38:20Speaker 1: I would prefer dropping as many NFC games as possible
- 38:23Speaker 1: out of those four. If I can pick NFC games,
- 38:25Speaker 1: I'll take that all day. So whoever they got to drop,
- 38:28Speaker 1: actually let me go to I'll go to the Bills
- 38:31Speaker 1: schedule real quick. Because off the top of my head,
- 38:33Speaker 1: I never remember like most opponents, I would be okay.
- 38:39Speaker 1: So if I have to drop four games and kind
- 38:42Speaker 1: of how are you quantifying it?
- 38:43Speaker 3: Here?
- 38:43Speaker 1: One has to be AFC East, one has to be
- 38:45Speaker 1: AFC North. One is Casey or Houston. One NFC. I'll
- 38:49Speaker 1: drop one to Philly because whatever, I would like to
- 38:52Speaker 1: beat them from a posturing standpoint and being able to
- 38:55Speaker 1: say that you beat the defending champs. So I guess
- 38:58Speaker 1: if I really had too one NFC, I'll pick losing
- 39:00Speaker 1: to Tampa because I like the Buccaneers. I like a
- 39:02Speaker 1: lot of their players, So I'll pick the NFC loss
- 39:04Speaker 1: being to Tampa Bay. I will pick the loss to
- 39:07Speaker 1: Houston because I think it will matter less. AFC North,
- 39:12Speaker 1: Oh I hate all the AFC North teams that we've
- 39:16Speaker 1: already beaten. Baltimore, I'll say Louise. I'll say losing to
- 39:20Speaker 1: the Browns because I won't think it matters as much.
- 39:22Speaker 1: But from a moral standpoint, I don't want to lose
- 39:24Speaker 1: to the Browns. I'll say I think the Bengals will
- 39:28Speaker 1: probably falter without bro I'll say Cincinnati for now, and
- 39:31Speaker 1: one being the AFC East. I will take a loss
- 39:35Speaker 1: to the Jets in week eighteen because in theory, I
- 39:37Speaker 1: think it probably won't matter. Hopefully that's what I'm gonna take.
- 39:40Speaker 1: Ah Cecil, We're on the same page. M mmm, love it, oh, Jason,
- 39:46Speaker 1: think of very I don't know if you meant to
- 39:47Speaker 1: put a comment with this, Jason, but I appreciate you
- 39:49Speaker 1: being here, and thank you very much of the super Chat.
- 39:51Speaker 1: If you meant to put a comment, put it in.
- 39:54Speaker 1: I'll get to it. I hope I don't lose it
- 39:55Speaker 1: when I'm watching film, but thank you very much the
- 39:57Speaker 1: super Chat. Regard this all right, us dive into Nope,
- 40:03Speaker 1: I'm clicking the wrong things. You guys could see behind
- 40:05Speaker 1: the scenes and just see me clicking. Not anything that
- 40:09Speaker 1: I need to be clicking right now. It would be
- 40:12Speaker 1: kind of embarrassing, all right. So now I want to
- 40:15Speaker 1: say a couple of things about the film. So I
- 40:17Speaker 1: did a full film episode last week. It got hit
- 40:20Speaker 1: with some copyright things because the NFL is the no
- 40:23Speaker 1: fun League at times. So I've done things a bit
- 40:24Speaker 1: differently for this episode, but it still should present very well.
- 40:28Speaker 1: But in case you see some differences to what we
- 40:30Speaker 1: normally do here, I kind of wanted to call that out.
- 40:33Speaker 1: It was also part of why I hesitated in doing
- 40:35Speaker 1: any film at all. But I ran it through some
- 40:37Speaker 1: copyright checks and we should be good. So I'm gonna
- 40:39Speaker 1: take a sip of water. We're gonna get after it.
- 40:45Speaker 3: All right, Let's go.
- 40:48Speaker 1: Full screen here, Let's go full screen, y'all?
- 40:52Speaker 3: Okay, all right?
- 40:55Speaker 1: So, like we talked about, we're gonna dive into the
- 40:58Speaker 1: Joey Bosa tape from this Jets game, and I got
- 41:01Speaker 1: six plays highlighted. Again, his performance in that game was
- 41:08Speaker 1: pretty nuts. I went over the percentages, but if you
- 41:09Speaker 1: want some of the raw stats as well, seven pressures,
- 41:15Speaker 1: one sack, five hurries, one QB hit, two forced fumbles,
- 41:20Speaker 1: one on the strip sack and one on that scramble,
- 41:22Speaker 1: a forty win rate, a forty six point seven percent
- 41:26Speaker 1: pressure rate, and a twenty six point seven percent pass
- 41:29Speaker 1: rust productivity, which again just absolutely bonkers and bananas. As others,
- 41:36Speaker 1: Jason has put an overlay on top of the film
- 41:38Speaker 1: that is a transparent picture of finger.
- 41:40Speaker 3: We should be I like that.
- 41:43Speaker 1: That's very funny.
- 41:44Speaker 3: That's good.
- 41:45Speaker 1: All right here, let me get into the tape. So yeah,
- 41:48Speaker 1: I'm not showing it's not every single play or everything
- 41:51Speaker 1: he crushed on, but I wanted to show some of
- 41:53Speaker 1: the ways that he won. Picked some plays that were
- 41:55Speaker 1: indicative of how he won, why he won, not necessarily
- 41:59Speaker 1: going in order. I essentially grab some of these from
- 42:02Speaker 1: some clips I made on Twitter, and this didn't get
- 42:05Speaker 1: diinged by the copyright stuff. So here we are. So
- 42:08Speaker 1: this first play we're gonna look at is a pressure
- 42:11Speaker 1: from Joey Bosa, second quarter, twenty two seconds left, and
- 42:15Speaker 1: you can see him highlighted by the blue circle.
- 42:18Speaker 3: Here.
- 42:18Speaker 1: All of these plays that we're gonna look at tonight
- 42:19Speaker 1: have Joey Bosa circled with a blue highlighter highlighter circle,
- 42:24Speaker 1: so you can see him nice and easy instead of
- 42:26Speaker 1: the normal yellow one that we do in huddle. This
- 42:29Speaker 1: one just a little warm up here. He just completely
- 42:32Speaker 1: dusts Membo with an inside move. He ghosts his hands completely.
- 42:36Speaker 1: This ties into another play that we're gonna look at later,
- 42:39Speaker 1: but here's Bosa. What I also wanted to kind of
- 42:41Speaker 1: highlight to notice the alignment from the Bills defender. So
- 42:45Speaker 1: what the Bills did at several points in this game
- 42:47Speaker 1: is they showed five on the line. Usually when you
- 42:51Speaker 1: do that It creates five zero protection for the offensive
- 42:54Speaker 1: line or essentially man on man blocking, especially when you
- 42:57Speaker 1: cover up the center like this, so man man, man,
- 43:01Speaker 1: man man. So when you do this kind of stuff,
- 43:04Speaker 1: it creates kind of you're kind of dictating one on
- 43:07Speaker 1: ones and creating matchups that you want. That plus, this
- 43:10Speaker 1: outside alignment for Bosa really puts him on an island
- 43:13Speaker 1: against Membo. You're gonna watch him on the snap here,
- 43:16Speaker 1: I'm gonna do him in slow mo and then I'll
- 43:17Speaker 1: play him in real time. Takes off little hezy, bang,
- 43:22Speaker 1: puts his foot in the ground, catches membow lean and
- 43:27Speaker 1: hard stabs inside hand users to clear breaks right down
- 43:32Speaker 1: real pretty completely beats the hands. If you've never heard
- 43:36Speaker 1: the old adage, beat the hands, beat the man, you're
- 43:39Speaker 1: hearing it now, Beat the hands, Bang, beat the man.
- 43:44Speaker 1: What I like about this one a lot is this
- 43:47Speaker 1: play came right after this play here. I'm gonna jump
- 43:52Speaker 1: around a little bit. So the first play that we
- 43:53Speaker 1: just looked at, I'm gonna go back to it in
- 43:54Speaker 1: a second, was at the twenty two second mark in
- 43:57Speaker 1: the second quarter. This play right now is at the
- 44:00Speaker 1: twenty six second mark in the second quarter. Again, notice
- 44:03Speaker 1: what We've got five on the line, which and then
- 44:08Speaker 1: one is head up on the center, so we're gonna
- 44:10Speaker 1: get that five ozle protection from the offensive line. So
- 44:12Speaker 1: we're gonna get man on man. We have another wide
- 44:15Speaker 1: alignment from mister Joey Bosa. But watch how his approach
- 44:19Speaker 1: on this one gets Membo again right tackle rookie Membo
- 44:23Speaker 1: number seventy. Watch how Bosa's approach gets Membo too exposed
- 44:27Speaker 1: his chest. I talked about it earlier. He's good at
- 44:29Speaker 1: understanding and reading angles of tackles in their past sets,
- 44:33Speaker 1: but also QB drops and he's also good at stemming
- 44:37Speaker 1: his rush or taking the proper you know, rush angle,
- 44:40Speaker 1: the rush path to throw tackles out of rhythm. This
- 44:44Speaker 1: one's really nice. He's gonna feign like he's trying to
- 44:46Speaker 1: rush upfield or try and run the arc, and then
- 44:49Speaker 1: he's just gonna barrel through memboo. So I'm gonna show
- 44:52Speaker 1: this one and then we're gonna go back to the
- 44:53Speaker 1: one we just watched. So watch spos to come off
- 44:56Speaker 1: the edge here. Now, watch he's got he's it looks
- 44:59Speaker 1: like he's coming out of his state. He's look at
- 45:00Speaker 1: he's taking a direct path in membo right. So here
- 45:03Speaker 1: he comes gonna bank. Now we're gonna stab with our
- 45:05Speaker 1: inside foot. So now you're thinking, okay, he's stabbing inside,
- 45:09Speaker 1: he's gonna go out. But watch how that he's fainting
- 45:12Speaker 1: right now, It's like, okay, I'm going upfields like it's
- 45:15Speaker 1: a quick stab. And watch him come back inside. Look
- 45:18Speaker 1: at where he catches Membo's hands. You can't see it
- 45:20Speaker 1: on the other side, but his hands are outstretched. Memboo's
- 45:23Speaker 1: chest is now exposed. And watch what Bosa does. Bosa
- 45:26Speaker 1: seese this knows he caught him, and he plays right
- 45:29Speaker 1: into his chest. You get those three points of contact.
- 45:32Speaker 1: You get a hand on a chest here, hand on
- 45:34Speaker 1: a chest here, forehead on forehead, you're getting those three
- 45:37Speaker 1: points of contact. Memboo's hands Look at him, they're outside
- 45:40Speaker 1: of Bosa's frame. He doesn't have control, he does not
- 45:44Speaker 1: have leverage. Bosa is right into his chest, feels that
- 45:49Speaker 1: is able to turn him and then watch him disengage.
- 45:52Speaker 1: Also again, notice that hand inside frame right on kind
- 45:56Speaker 1: of that chest plate around that neckline. The top of
- 45:58Speaker 1: the numbers area disconnects with that right hand. So now
- 46:03Speaker 1: he's ripping through. This is where the technique comes in
- 46:05Speaker 1: addition to the power rips through and then also watch
- 46:08Speaker 1: the angle. So because of how we turned to me
- 46:11Speaker 1: pride him open, he was able to win that half
- 46:13Speaker 1: man relationship, open up that right side, pry him open.
- 46:18Speaker 1: That plus the power, like Memba wants to like lean
- 46:20Speaker 1: on him and kind of drive him wide. You can
- 46:22Speaker 1: still if you're a tackle, you can still potentially kind
- 46:25Speaker 1: of like cut him off or ride him around. But
- 46:27Speaker 1: because of bosa strength and his angle and how we
- 46:30Speaker 1: pride him open, he's able to take this angle right
- 46:33Speaker 1: down onto justin fields watching real time again, watch that
- 46:40Speaker 1: little fane outside bank and how it just opens up
- 46:43Speaker 1: the chest. You do not want that, Yeah, obviously if
- 46:47Speaker 1: you are a tackle, you do not want to give
- 46:48Speaker 1: up your chest. You want to get hands, you want
- 46:51Speaker 1: to get placement, you want to time your punch with
- 46:53Speaker 1: your feet. It just does not happen there. From Membo
- 46:57Speaker 1: when to go in, slow them on one more time,
- 46:59Speaker 1: stab ins and here we go. Okay, so there's that
- 47:01Speaker 1: first move inside. It's almost like a rocker step from
- 47:03Speaker 1: wide receiver. We stepped there. Okay, now he's going outside,
- 47:06Speaker 1: psych back inside and then again just look at that
- 47:09Speaker 1: right that chest is exposed, you are getting into his chest.
- 47:13Speaker 1: Nice rush from Bosa. And then what do we do?
- 47:15Speaker 1: We pry open that outside with power, extend a little bit,
- 47:19Speaker 1: then rip our way through. It's a nice transition from Bosa.
- 47:23Speaker 1: All things connected here. Also, what I like on this play.
- 47:27Speaker 1: I like the rush design here. Ryan Nielsen probably some
- 47:32Speaker 1: influence here, the five man rush packages that he loved
- 47:35Speaker 1: with New Orleans, with Atlanta, even with the Jags, all
- 47:40Speaker 1: I know their defense wasn't great. I like what you
- 47:42Speaker 1: get here. Watch Daikwon Jones and Dorian Williams. They're each
- 47:51Speaker 1: gonna slant. It's almost gonna kind of function like a
- 47:53Speaker 1: pirate stunt where they each slice in their spike inside,
- 47:55Speaker 1: I should say, And then watch Terrel Bernard loop around again.
- 47:59Speaker 1: We know because we've covered up the center here and
- 48:02Speaker 1: we're showing five on the line, we know we've created
- 48:04Speaker 1: a man on man protection. We've got this five ozero blocking.
- 48:07Speaker 1: We talked about what that means for Bosa. Right, so
- 48:09Speaker 1: Bosa we know is gonna get a one on one.
- 48:11Speaker 1: Everybody essentially is gonna get a one on one. But
- 48:14Speaker 1: when you do this, you can play some games and
- 48:17Speaker 1: kind of cross some dudes up here. So now watch Bernard.
- 48:21Speaker 1: So Bernard is for John Simpson here, that's who John
- 48:24Speaker 1: Simpson is gonna block because again we're covering up the center.
- 48:27Speaker 1: We got five. Oh watch Simpson. He steps, His eyes
- 48:31Speaker 1: are right on Bernard, right, that's who he's going for.
- 48:33Speaker 1: So he steps. He has that drag hand a little bit.
- 48:37Speaker 1: He keeps his right hand you know, open a little
- 48:39Speaker 1: so in case anything crazy happens on the snap he
- 48:42Speaker 1: can feel it. But watch he's his eyes are locked
- 48:45Speaker 1: on to Bernard because that's his man. Here comes Dae
- 48:48Speaker 1: Kwon Jones bang ear holds him, essentially creates a pick.
- 48:54Speaker 1: Here comes Dorian Williams doing the exact same thing to
- 48:57Speaker 1: now pick the center. And because the right guard is
- 49:01Speaker 1: responsible for Dory Williams in this five zero protection, essentially
- 49:04Speaker 1: what we get is three blockers on two bills defenders.
- 49:10Speaker 1: And here comes Torel Bernard Scott free off of this
- 49:14Speaker 1: loop to help air down on mister Justin Fields. So
- 49:18Speaker 1: that so obviously a really good individual play from Joey Bosa.
- 49:22Speaker 1: But I really like this design with the two spikers
- 49:25Speaker 1: and the loop around again essentially functions like a pirate
- 49:28Speaker 1: stunt depending on how you define it. But really nice
- 49:31Speaker 1: man on man, you can use that, right. It's just
- 49:34Speaker 1: like you know, getting coverage tells and creating picks and
- 49:37Speaker 1: rubs with your wide receivers or pass catchers in any way,
- 49:40Speaker 1: shape or form. That's what the Bills do here. They
- 49:42Speaker 1: create essentially create a pick and create a rub so
- 49:44Speaker 1: that Bernard comes free. Really nice design. I like that.
- 49:48Speaker 1: And again let's go back. We'll just focus on the
- 49:50Speaker 1: Joey Bosa piece. So we show we showed how Bosa
- 49:54Speaker 1: one on this, right, what did he do one more
- 49:57Speaker 1: time in somewhat real time until we get to that
- 50:00Speaker 1: right stab Fane Upfield, pry into him, right, he's trying
- 50:06Speaker 1: to go again, he's trying to go through him. He
- 50:08Speaker 1: fans Upfield, Membo's chest is exposed, and then because of
- 50:12Speaker 1: how his footwork is, it just ends up working out
- 50:14Speaker 1: where Bosa just pries him open and then runs through
- 50:17Speaker 1: that outside.
- 50:17Speaker 3: Right.
- 50:18Speaker 1: So this play just happened, right, The first play we
- 50:22Speaker 1: look at is the very next play. So now, if
- 50:25Speaker 1: you're a Membo, you're number seventy, you're sitting there thinking like, okay,
- 50:29Speaker 1: I just got feigned with that upfield rush he got
- 50:32Speaker 1: into my chest. He pried me open through on the outside.
- 50:36Speaker 1: Should I protect my outside a little bit? Okay, let
- 50:38Speaker 1: me kind of keep my feet under me. Let me
- 50:39Speaker 1: watch that outside move. What is supposed to do this time?
- 50:42Speaker 1: Hits him with a little heavy membos may be a
- 50:45Speaker 1: little conscious about that outside moved, So what is supposed
- 50:48Speaker 1: to do? Stabs inside, completely, ghost him, dust him, crossed
- 50:51Speaker 1: him up, broke his ankles, stacking your rush planes together.
- 50:55Speaker 1: Understanding this is a really nice back to back and
- 50:57Speaker 1: influence a little bit here. Maybe you know if your membo,
- 51:00Speaker 1: are you worried about that in the back of your head?
- 51:02Speaker 1: And bosas as a veteran rusher who understands this, knows
- 51:06Speaker 1: this is how I just beat that guy. Should I
- 51:09Speaker 1: sell that a little bit? Is it in his mind?
- 51:11Speaker 1: Then me hit him with a little hezy stab outside.
- 51:14Speaker 1: Maybe he's a little overconscious of it. Hes he hesy
- 51:19Speaker 1: bang and then watch the hands just quick little swipe,
- 51:22Speaker 1: keep those hands off him, easy transitions, moves inside, barrels
- 51:27Speaker 1: down helps force it in completion, and again we get
- 51:30Speaker 1: another five to zero block him and get man on man.
- 51:33Speaker 1: We've covered up the center. A little different response this time,
- 51:35Speaker 1: where Essentially, we've kind of got like some double spy
- 51:40Speaker 1: action here, although one of these guys is going to
- 51:42Speaker 1: be responsible for the back when he leaks out. The
- 51:44Speaker 1: way the back just comes out, it kind of makes
- 51:46Speaker 1: it look like two spies. But we've essentially got a
- 51:48Speaker 1: three man rush and a spy and then man coverage
- 51:51Speaker 1: on the running back, which is nice. Okay, so go
- 51:56Speaker 1: to the next one, the Joey Bosa stripsack.
- 51:58Speaker 3: Before we do that, let me.
- 52:01Speaker 1: Go you see some Yeah, I'm going to grab with
- 52:06Speaker 1: some of the comments here, Okay, I'm are saying lots
- 52:09Speaker 1: of good happening from other players too. Ralph says the
- 52:13Speaker 1: film is rated X in New Jersey, but rated x's
- 52:15Speaker 1: and o's.
- 52:15Speaker 3: Here in NY. That's very good.
- 52:17Speaker 1: Lauren saying, my pea sized brain is still in disbelief
- 52:19Speaker 1: that Bernard is eight. I'm right there with you. It's
- 52:21Speaker 1: still taking a lot for me to recognize that. It's
- 52:25Speaker 1: annoying me a lot. Also, what annoys me too is
- 52:28Speaker 1: that Dorian Williams is forty two and Dorian Strong is
- 52:31Speaker 1: forty three. I keep confusing the Dorians like their numbers.
- 52:35Speaker 1: Obviously they have the same first name. And then very
- 52:36Speaker 1: close numbers as well. It's super annoying, Bob saying, I
- 52:41Speaker 1: know it's a Bose episode. Have you noticed any improvement
- 52:43Speaker 1: with Rousseau? Some of it is responsibility and scheme based,
- 52:48Speaker 1: but I've been a bit underwhelmed with Rousseau thus far
- 52:50Speaker 1: in two games overall, but especially as a rusher, A
- 52:53Speaker 1: bit underwhelmed at this point. But it's two games in.
- 52:56Speaker 1: We'll see as we kind of go forward a little bit.
- 53:02Speaker 1: A you're trying to make a what's what's the what's
- 53:04Speaker 1: the Joe says, the picture of Dorian. Who isn't that?
- 53:07Speaker 3: Uh?
- 53:09Speaker 1: What am I thinking of? This is? This is gonna
- 53:10Speaker 1: drive me and saying I can't focus until we get it.
- 53:12Speaker 1: Dorian Dorian Dorian Gray, right, that's what it is. Somebody
- 53:15Speaker 1: quickly in the chat tell me chat helped me out
- 53:17Speaker 1: feel like a streamer. It's Dorian Gray, right, the guy
- 53:20Speaker 1: whose picture is like a younger, older version of himself,
- 53:22Speaker 1: and he looks at the picture, he'll turn old. That's
- 53:24Speaker 1: what it is, Dorian Gray, right, Thank you, James, Oh,
- 53:28Speaker 1: that was gonna drive me to That would have drove
- 53:29Speaker 1: me nuts. I wouldn't be able to. I wouldn't have
- 53:31Speaker 1: been able to focus at all. I hate you, Joe,
- 53:33Speaker 1: just kidding, I appreciate you. Uh, Tank nin just says,
- 53:36Speaker 1: throws me off every time seeing Bernard in the eight. Yeah,
- 53:38Speaker 1: I am absolutely right there, Joe says, Actually a Sean
- 53:41Speaker 1: dolec that's an inside joke to the last time I
- 53:43Speaker 1: was on Joe Show. Joe, please kindly see yourself out.
- 53:46Speaker 1: Thank you so much.
- 53:50Speaker 3: That's funny.
- 53:50Speaker 1: All right. This next one as labeled here Joey Bosa
- 53:54Speaker 1: strip sack. We saw this. The NFL released some kind
- 53:58Speaker 1: of footage of this happened and the sideline reaction after.
- 54:02Speaker 1: Bosa was very much well aware that they tried to
- 54:04Speaker 1: block him with a tight end and was kind of
- 54:06Speaker 1: in disbelief about it after. But we're gonna see some
- 54:09Speaker 1: good hand usage versus a rookie tight end. This is
- 54:12Speaker 1: Jets rookie tight end Mason Taylor out of LSU. This
- 54:16Speaker 1: is a fourth quarter, fourteen minutes, forty two seconds wide alignment,
- 54:21Speaker 1: again dictated a little bit by the offensive line plus
- 54:25Speaker 1: the tight end. Here, the Jets are going to slide
- 54:27Speaker 1: this offensive line to the right, which is going to
- 54:29Speaker 1: put Mason Taylor one on one with Joey Bosa. This
- 54:34Speaker 1: should be a mismatch, and it is. This is what
- 54:37Speaker 1: we're gonna see. This is what you should get from
- 54:39Speaker 1: any edge rusher that is worth their salt when facing
- 54:42Speaker 1: a tight end in pass pro. Yes, there are exceptions
- 54:44Speaker 1: to this rule. There are several very good blocking tight
- 54:46Speaker 1: ends in this league, as in terms of run blockers
- 54:48Speaker 1: and pass protectors, and not every edge will win. But
- 54:51Speaker 1: for the most part, any edge rusher worth their salt
- 54:54Speaker 1: when facing a tight end in pass pro should eat them.
- 54:57Speaker 1: That is what should happen. But I really want to
- 54:59Speaker 1: highlight the hand usage from Bosa here. Clip's gonna start
- 55:04Speaker 1: right now. The Jet's trying to quick snap it a
- 55:06Speaker 1: little bit. As you can see, the bills are not ready,
- 55:08Speaker 1: including Bosa. They're kind of just hanging out here, not ready.
- 55:12Speaker 1: Meyer snaps it. They're a bit caught off guard. Watch
- 55:15Speaker 1: just how simple and clean and precise the hand usage
- 55:20Speaker 1: is from Joey Bosa. He attacks just real quick. Watch
- 55:25Speaker 1: the precision in the placement. He sees that outside arm.
- 55:27Speaker 1: He knows Taylor's gonna try and punch and reach with that.
- 55:31Speaker 1: Bosa chops it right down. Look at him get the hand.
- 55:33Speaker 1: It's nice when the guys have the gloves that stand
- 55:35Speaker 1: out his hand, that bear paw is right over that wrist,
- 55:39Speaker 1: chops it down, and then watch the quick transition. It's
- 55:42Speaker 1: not only the hand usage to chop down the outside arm,
- 55:46Speaker 1: it is the transition in the move. He chops right
- 55:50Speaker 1: at the wrist and then immediately starts to turn so
- 55:53Speaker 1: he can flatten and get to the QB. And I'm
- 55:56Speaker 1: explaining what flattening is in a man in case those
- 55:58Speaker 1: who don't know, Bang, we're gonna chop the wrist. Now
- 56:00Speaker 1: let's start. We're gonna pull that through or turn our
- 56:02Speaker 1: shoulders and get through. Now I'm going to freeze it
- 56:05Speaker 1: right here. So when I talk about flattening, for those
- 56:08Speaker 1: who don't know, literally like going, I mean I can
- 56:12Speaker 1: never draw straight lines. But you want to flatten and
- 56:15Speaker 1: get flat to the quarterback. That one is a field angle.
- 56:18Speaker 1: But long story short, you don't want to get pushed upfield.
- 56:21Speaker 1: You don't want to get pushed this way. You don't
- 56:23Speaker 1: want to kind of get run around the arc when
- 56:25Speaker 1: you beat someone outside. You want to get through that
- 56:27Speaker 1: outside shoulder and clear them and essentially get like this
- 56:31Speaker 1: and get right down the line to the QB. You
- 56:33Speaker 1: want to flatten. So Bosa here has won through the
- 56:37Speaker 1: outside and he flattens immediately gets his footing and his angle.
- 56:42Speaker 1: He's bearing down on Field, so well doesn't get too
- 56:46Speaker 1: far upfield or into the tight end. He beats him.
- 56:49Speaker 1: He flattens, and he because again because he understands angles,
- 56:52Speaker 1: he's even able to get up get like an upfield
- 56:54Speaker 1: step when justin Field steps up slightly in the pocket.
- 56:57Speaker 1: So watch where Fields is. He steps up a little bit.
- 57:00Speaker 1: Look at their even even footing. Field is stepping up.
- 57:03Speaker 1: Watch Bosa's next step with his right foot. It's an
- 57:06Speaker 1: upfield step to get in there. And then he brings
- 57:09Speaker 1: the arm. I wish I had the other angle here,
- 57:11Speaker 1: but you get that inside arm from Bosa. Look where
- 57:15Speaker 1: it is. It's coming right across the hands, right across
- 57:18Speaker 1: the ball of Fields. This was not an accidental strip sack.
- 57:22Speaker 1: This is him putting that forearm, putting that fist arm,
- 57:25Speaker 1: whatever he can get right through the hands, right on
- 57:28Speaker 1: the hands. The wrists the ball, doing what he can
- 57:31Speaker 1: to not only make the sack and bring the QB down,
- 57:34Speaker 1: but get on the ball. And as soon as he
- 57:35Speaker 1: makes contact, bang that ball is out and loose and
- 57:39Speaker 1: he crushes him. So watch it in real time a
- 57:42Speaker 1: little bit here, chop the wrist flatten again. You get
- 57:45Speaker 1: a real sense in you know, kind of this the
- 57:49Speaker 1: real time instead of the slow mo. Watch the wrist
- 57:51Speaker 1: chop and how he immediately transitions into flattening around the corner.
- 57:57Speaker 1: Doesn't get run upfield, he doesn't get too much into
- 58:00Speaker 1: the shoulder or the chest of Taylor. Bang beats that hand,
- 58:05Speaker 1: turns the corner, flattens, barrels down. There are so many
- 58:09Speaker 1: pieces that I like about this again one more time. Bang,
- 58:12Speaker 1: wrist turn, flatten, don't get pushed too far upfield, don't
- 58:16Speaker 1: let yourself get impeded. He's able to power through the
- 58:20Speaker 1: angle to the QB is a nice flattened And then
- 58:23Speaker 1: look at he's watching him, He sees him. He's got
- 58:25Speaker 1: him in his sights. It's awesome to get the sack.
- 58:30Speaker 1: It's even better to get the ball. Look at there's
- 58:34Speaker 1: that right arm. He's poised, he's locked and loaded. Puts
- 58:39Speaker 1: that arm, look and read awesome freeze traaming kind of
- 58:42Speaker 1: See there's his arm right there. He is reaching for
- 58:45Speaker 1: that ball and extends it right through Bang. Ball's out.
- 58:50Speaker 1: Great play from Bosa as Lauren says, Yeah, the shortest
- 58:54Speaker 1: distance between two points is a straight line. That's essentially
- 58:57Speaker 1: what you got for flatten. You don't want to kind
- 58:58Speaker 1: of take that round of you don't want to go
- 59:01Speaker 1: around too much. You don't want to have to stop
- 59:03Speaker 1: start anything like that. If you can turn and flatten
- 59:06Speaker 1: and have that straight line, and then even more so
- 59:10Speaker 1: like kind of pick up speed and turn through the
- 59:12Speaker 1: apex as you round that arc and round whether it's
- 59:15Speaker 1: a tackle, tight end whatever, as you can do that
- 59:18Speaker 1: like and not lose speed and actually pick up speed
- 59:20Speaker 1: and pull yourself through the arco even better, really nice
- 59:25Speaker 1: and really pretty. Yeah, as John says, Bosa screamed on
- 59:28Speaker 1: the sideline something like I can't believe they put a
- 59:30Speaker 1: tight end on me. Yeah. Players recognize that, especially when
- 59:34Speaker 1: you're a vet and you see like there's a tight end.
- 59:37Speaker 1: I'm like, I even watching this. I remember watching this
- 59:39Speaker 1: in the game and my thought was, Okay, they're gonna
- 59:42Speaker 1: do the thing where it happens a lot. Now he'll
- 59:45Speaker 1: chip him and then you'll see okay, like tackle leak
- 59:49Speaker 1: out or the running back end up coming to help
- 59:51Speaker 1: the tight end, and they'll kind of have like a
- 59:53Speaker 1: little mini double or like a chip and double type
- 59:55Speaker 1: of deal, and instead they're just like, no, man, go
- 59:57Speaker 1: out and block them on an island and know it
- 59:58Speaker 1: does not work, and he lands on two for effect.
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: Really nice. This next play here that we are going
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: to look at is another pressure, this time from the
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: eight minute thirty three second mark in the fourth quarter,
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: another wide alignment. If you are keeping track at home,
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: what do we have again, We've got a covered up
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: center one, two, three, four five, So what are we
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: gonna get. I'm gonna get this man protection again from
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: the New York Jets. So another one of these cover
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: up the center five down looks, creating that five to
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: zero man protection looking to create one on ones. What
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: you're gonna end up gonna get on this one and
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: you're gonna get a three man rush and then Dorriyan
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: Williams is gonna spy. So it's kind of like the
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: odd mirror package that they use where you get three rushers.
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: Someone's just trying to get the QB off the spot.
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: And then that spy is like a really low hole
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: player close to the line of scrimmage, functioning as an
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: aggressive spy. And as soon as the QB gets off
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: his spot and declares one way or the other where
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: he's going. That aggressive spy will close down on him. Initially,
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: it just doesn't get to this point because Bosa wins
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: so well. But again, I want you to watch Bosa's
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: rush path on this one as I continue to talk
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: about the power rush piece is very nice. But his
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: best attributes aside from the power game, which is again
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: tied to a lot of what he does, it's his
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: rush paths, his understanding of tackle sets and quarterback drops,
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: so essentially his rush paths and angles. He understands them
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: very well and then he's able to win within them
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: with hand usage, precision, strength, power. Just a nice package
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: for what he brings and very much in line with
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: what the bill's like. So I want you to watch
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: him as he goes forward here. On his first step,
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: he's going to go right at seventy fours. That's ol Shanu.
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: He's going to go right at his chest. This throws
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: him off a little bit. This throws for Shana off
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: a little bit. You're a watch him try to stop himself,
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: but he can't. His footwork gets all jacked up, and
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: then Bosa is eventually going to beat him inside so
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: let's watch Bosa ready three point stands.
- 1:02:01Speaker 3: Here we go.
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: So gets off the snap. Now watch this foot. So
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: that's his first step right, he's in his stance. The
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: right foot outside foot comes forward. Watch him change his
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: rush path and it's bank. It's right at the chest
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: of for Shano and he times it so he's stepping
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: with this foot and he's bee lining right for the
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: chest to for Shanu. Forashan, who is still in his set.
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: He's trying to take a forty five degree set. He's
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: trying to kind of meet Bosa outside. So he's kind
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: of jumping there.
- 1:02:31Speaker 3: You see.
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: He's like, okay, cool, we're going outside, and this is
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: what I say where he gets surprised. Bosa is now
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: bee lining in his chest and he's like uh oh.
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: So Fashanu tries to stop himself and catch himself, but
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: he's got too much weight on that outside foot and
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: you can see look what happens to his inside foot.
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: He tries to plant, he can't. His inside foot essentially
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: steps on his outside foot. Braylan Allen's on the way here,
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: but why kind of xdent me?
- 1:02:56Speaker 3: Joe six?
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: His outside foot gets stepped down by his inside foot here,
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: he's completely compromised. The inside opens up, Bosa just cuts
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: right through. We're gonna play it in real time a
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: little bit, but you can see as Bosa kind of cuts,
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: Like look at the feet here, he's still trying to recover.
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: His feet are all out of whack. His hands are
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: out of whack because his feet are out of whack.
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: His body positioning is thrown off, his timing is thrown off.
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: Bosa cuts inside, swims over barrels down on Tyrod. Taylor
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: group jumps up, knocks the pass down. Watching real time
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: a little bit, you can see it in that real
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: time function. Right watch for Shanhu. You can see how
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: awkward for shan Whu set is right he's stepping it. Oh,
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: you almost seem kind of like literally kind of trip
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: over himself, which he almost does because he stel Amost
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: steps on his left foot with his right foot. He's
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: trying to gather himself. Because Bosa changes that rush path,
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: it's right at his chest outside step bank. You've been
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: taking some outside rushes, You've been trying to work through
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: that outside shoulder. Now all of a sudden you're attacking
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: that guy right at the chest. You're seeing red and
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: you're trying to play through him. It throws for Shano
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: for a loop a little bit. He tries to recover
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: and then Bosa here just hits him with a little
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: quick heavy sees how much space he has attacks the inside.
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: Now again, this is talking about the coverage piece. This
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: is where that odd mirror piece comes in. You're just
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: trying to get somebody to dart inside and get the
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: QB off their spot, like Dorian is playing it right here,
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: kind of thinking, Okay, Tyrod's gonna try and go this way,
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: and he's gonna be the aggressive spy to go there.
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: But if Tyrod were to escape, Dorians that aggress to spy,
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: low hole player. He's just watching here ready to kind
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: of close down anywhere Tyrod goes. But we don't get
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: to that point because Bosa beats for Shano so clean.
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: Tyron has to get the ball down or ball out
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: and it gets batted down by Groot. Also really nice
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: on this. Actually, no, the thought I was gonna make
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: was for a different play later one more time.
- 1:04:53Speaker 3: Watch this in real time.
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: Deteck that chest throw off. The timing again, everything is angles,
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: and timing football essentially comes down to angles. We talked
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: about it last week with the run defense piece. Football
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: is very often arithmetic and geometry is it is simple math.
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: It is addition and subtraction, numbers in the box versus
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: you know, from an offensive and defense perspective, we have eight,
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: they have seven. We have seven. They have seven. That
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: means there's eight gaps to cover. Where short a gap
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: or where short of man? How do we cancel that?
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: How do we steal that? How do we change the math?
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: How do we equalize that? How do we have an advantage?
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: And then also within that is geometry. It's angles, it's space,
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: it's spatial awareness, it's relativity within space. So much of
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: the game is leverage, angles and numbers. You know, Rich Rodriguez,
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: former West Virginia head coach, famously, you know, did a
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: coaching clinic and he talked about everything is on everything
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: is based on numbers, angles and grass. By grass, he
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: meant space. So that's what football, at the end of
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: the day is, It's numbers, angles in space. This next
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: play the Joey Bosa strip on fields early in the
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: game after the Bills went up seven. Nothing, nothing really
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: crazy to go through here other than just like I
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: have highlighted Bosa's effort and then the chase down of
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: the punch out. This angle does a really good job
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: of showing that punch out. We'll start kind of from
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: the beginning, so what does he do kind of right
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: extends You're thinking this might be a run, so you
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: gotta honor the run action. You're playing run to pass. Okay,
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: you see that it's not. Let's keep working through. Real
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: nice shout out to aj Panessa for coming off and
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: I'm gonna talk about the coverage piece in a minute,
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: but really nice on aj Panessa to come off play
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: this under control, but with urgency. He forces Fields to
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: have to cut this back to his help. And when
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: Fields cuts back, here comes Bosa and you can see
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: Bosa like already, here's Bosa. You can see he knows,
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: like he feels kind of what's happening here. We showed
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: it when he beat Mason Taylor and he flattened and
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: got the feet on that sack. He was putting that
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: arm out. He wanted to get the ball. It wasn't
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: just the sack. He wanted the ball. And here he
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: does it again. He knows Fields doesn't know that he's there,
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: so he's coming. Look at he's eyeing him going and
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: slow most so you can see. Now watch him cock
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: that right arm, brings it back and bang tomahawks it
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: right down, punches that ball out immediately. Just a great
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: play from Bosa. Saw it a ton on replay throughout
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: that this game and throughout early in the week. What's
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: the effort too, right? He could have given up on
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: this play, he doesn't. He plays through. Boom love. I
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: love a good punch out, whether it's a peanut punch
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: or just a punch through the hands for a forcing completion. Oh,
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: that's so well done.
- 1:07:54Speaker 3: One more time.
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: I'll slow mo it. And then I want to talk
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: about the coverage piece, because not too much science here
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: other than this is great effort, make a play on
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: the ball right, and he fits in what the Bills want.
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: The Bills are a defense that relies a lot on turnovers.
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: They've been very good at generating in the past several years. Boom,
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: I want to talk about some of the coverage pieces
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: here really quick. What I like here. First, I want
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: to highlight Cole Bishop and Matt Mlano, who if you
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: see right when this play starts, they're calling out the
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: tight end. If he's even the sideline angle and the
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: longer copy that I don't have clipped down here. They're
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: calling this tight end out right away, communicating to one another,
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: so maybe they know something. They think something's up, but
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: you get this communication immediately from Bishop and Milano. They check.
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: Nice to see them kind of being on the same page.
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: Now we'll start with Dorian Williams. What I really like.
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: Watch Dorian Williams right here so you can get the
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: tight end. He's in an offline alignment. Usually when you
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: see that type of offline alignment, you're getting some kind
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: of flow going back this way, whether it's a split
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: zone run, so all the old line goes down this way.
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: We get a hand off to the running back tight
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: ends coming this way to cut this backside edge, or
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: you're gonna get the play action and you're gonna get
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: the slide route across the formation. We get the ladder
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: on this play. But watch Dorian Williams. This is really
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: encouraging from him. There goes the slide route from Mason Taylor.
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: Watch Dorian doesn't get sucked into the run action. Instead,
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: he picks up Taylor on the slide route. This is
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: where this ball is trying to go. You're either trying
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: to get that slide route or you're trying to get
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: this crosser to Garrett Wilson. So let's keep watching over here. First,
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: what happens to the slide route. There's nothing there. Look out, Dorian.
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: I don't really like this. So he's out in front
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: of him. Taylor cuts behind him. Watch Dorian bang kind
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: of baseball turns or speed turns a little bit, gets
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: his eyes in his body, right into Taylor's chest. He's
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: right on him. That's no throw. That's not happening. Nice.
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: Now let's watch the other aspect. So Garrett Wilson has
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: come across the field on this crosser. Right, Let's watch
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: mister Terrel Bernard here, who's at a bit of a
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: rough start of the year against Baltimore and even in
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: this game a little bit. Watch Bernard, he steps up,
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: he honors the run. Uh oh, Fields has the ball.
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: You see that he's booting. You see Fields's motion. He's
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: going this way. So normally routes are going to flow
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: in the direction of the quarterback, hence the slide route here.
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: There's also a far receiver out on the outside being
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: covered by Trey White. But the receiver on the other side,
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: Bernard knows the formation. He knows someone is probably coming
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: back this way. So watch Bernard here. Once he sees
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: Field's boot, he's gonna robot. He's gonna turn, he's gonna look.
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: Bang gets his eyes right onto Garrett Wilson. After he
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: got his eyes here on sixteen. So he sees as
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: he turns. Okay, there's eyes on sixteen. Cool, Trey's got him.
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: I'm good. Let me get my eyes to the crosser
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: and let me get underneath. The crosser looks back towards Fields.
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: Fields maybe wants to throw that ball, but he can't
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: at Panessa cuts him off. He cuts back inside. Bang,
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: there's Bosa. One more piece. I want to highlight. You
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: saw him briefly. So here comes across from Garrett Wilson. Right,
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: we get the robot from Bernard at the linebacker.
- 1:11:11Speaker 3: Spot.
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: Watch where is he?
- 1:11:13Speaker 3: There?
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: He is Taylor Rap right, Yeah, So draw a little
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: arrow there. Well that's a horrible arrow, but not horrible
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: for freehand. I guess there's Taylor Rap right there. What
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: we're getting? And I broke this down a little bit
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: in the Cole Bishop film during the preseason. So the
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: Bills are in a single high look that's wat you
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: kind of like a cover three on the back end
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: where Rap is that post safety and your two outside
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: corners are Trey and Christian Benford. So Trey is on
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: the outside, he's covering sixteen. Who is right here is
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: You can't see Trey, he's off screen, but Christian Benford
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: is on the other side here. He and Rap are
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: gonna execute a nice search and slice on this place.
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: So Rap sees that overcoming from Garrett Wilson, and this
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: is Rap driving on this. So here's Rap like Bernard
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: is underneath it here and Rap is driving on it.
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: Rap saw this from the post, drove on it to
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: cut it off and meet it here. And then Christian
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: Benford replaced Taylor Rap in the post. I know you
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: can't see Benford on this play, but that's what happened
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: on this play, and I wanted to highlight again like
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: raps angle. This is a nice slice from Rap, like
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: he cuts it off.
- 1:12:24Speaker 3: So you've got.
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: Bernard underneath, You've got Rap over the top. You essentially
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: have kind of like a little bracket on Garrett Wilson
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: of us now officially like what's happening here is just
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: a nice slice from Rap so good on Rap, good
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: on Bernard, good on Dorian good on Benford who you
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: can't see, good on Epanessa and then again, folks of
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: this episode, Joey Bosa bang, and look how pumped everyone
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: is for this. Really nice, really nice. This next play,
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: fourth quarter, fourteen minute forty seven second mark is the
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: second and ten three man rush from the Bills on
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: this one. Also get a really nice cover two coverage
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: spin on the back end, which again can't see he's
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: runing the end zone angle here, but take my word
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: for it, it's really nice. You essentially get Bishupp is
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: kind of like over here, he's gonna spin to a
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: far safety spot. Over here, you're gonna get a drop
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: Taylor Rap is in a kind of a single high alignment.
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: He drops into the hook. I think he's in a
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: single high. But it's a nice cover two spin on
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: the back end. Nothing crazy here. This is just Bosa,
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: you know, feeling the edge collapsing, disengaging, barreling down on
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: the QB. It doesn't look impressive, but this is him
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: understanding feel collapse to take that angle inside with this
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: three man rush and then again it's just feel right.
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: You understand kind of Fields is still in the pocket.
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: You see where you are relative to him. You've knocked
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: the right tackle back with a little bit of a
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: long arm from that outside arm. Let's just disengage, Just
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: take a good angle and barrel down Downfields. I think
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: this is the one where Fields uh whacked his head
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: on the turf. So watch Bosa taking that inside angle.
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: He's leaning in almost like he's spiking, but he's using
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: that left arm. That left arm is extended here against
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: Membao and look at as now. So he's driven membo
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: a little bit back and displaced him the ice fields.
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: He sees he's still in the pocket, but he knows
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: like there's a soft edge here, it's collapsed. He's good.
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: Let me just push my way through and you can
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: see that long arm still extend. He's got extension. Memboo
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: does not have any grip anywhere. So Bosa is in
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: prime position to just disengage and then again an angle
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: right down on the Fields, jumps, wraps turns boom. Yeah,
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: Fields wax his head, which is unfortunate for him. Hates
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: seeing that, and I feel like guy's whacked their head
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: off the turf all the time. Now I feel like
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: it happened way more than it used to, or maybe
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: it happened to Tom, but people just didn't care about it.
- 1:14:54Speaker 3: Concussions didn't matter.
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: Can just understanding angles collapse, long arm separate, boom?
- 1:15:03Speaker 3: Nice?
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: This last one that we're going to look at again.
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: Oh we've already looked at this play. This is that
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: play number six that tied into play number one, that
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: this one happened, and then play number one happened immediately
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: after this is We'll watch this one more time just
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: because I like this one. He gets Membouda expose his chest,
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: prime open angle and then we get the nice Bernard
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: rush there.
- 1:15:29Speaker 3: M hm, oh, there we go. Okay, there we go.
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: We got how to click buttons.
- 1:15:46Speaker 3: Apologized to everyone there.
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: So yeah, as a Joey Bosta tape, put really nice
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: complete game together. I was really interested to see what
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: the Bills Edges would do against the Jets tackles, because again,
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: I think the Steelers have two good ones with Watt
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: and Highsmith and Watt and Heismith got theirs. You know,
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: they got some pressures. They made some plays against the run,
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: but manboo held his own for Shan who held his own.
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: And I also think it's nice to see in this
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: and that we showed here Bosa's effectiveness off of both edges.
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: It's not just like, well, you know, he's got to
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: rush off the right or he's got to rush off
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: the left. You could put him on the left, you
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: could put him on the right. He can go through somebody,
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: he can use his hands, he can change up his
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: rush path and his angles. Just a really nice game
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: that I think showcased what he still is whent healthy
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: and it's a guy who, yes, he's got some good
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: you know traits, and he's got some good skill set
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: pieces right, the size, the power, the ability that he
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: just has in that frame and how well put together
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: he is for you know, an NFL edge rusher. But
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: it's also the understanding again a rush path and angles.
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: If you notice him so much, he's got this weird
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: and Eric and I talked about in the film in
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: the office, he's got this like herky jerky kind of
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: like way that he approaches tackles like it's like a
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: plotting type of approach. But it's all to throw off
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: the timing, the punch timing the punch timing with the
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: footwork of offensive tackles. He gets tackles to throw their hands
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: or change their angles. He's trying to manipulate their sets.
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: He's trying to manipulate their timing, and then when they do,
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: he's got the physical pop and punch empower to take
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: advantage of it. Because it's one thing to set somebody
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: up for something and kind of beat them mentally or
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: Jedi mind, trick them a little bit, but then do
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: you have the physical tools to kind of make them
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: pay and take advantage of the mental work that you did,
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: and he does at this point, again, it is very
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: much just a matter of health. I know that's not
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: an apple concept, and I know that's why a lot
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: of people were hesitant. You know again, I talked about
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: we were live here on the show is Me and Kendall,
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: which is ironic as Kendall and I were live when
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: the John Miller signing happened. I was really excited about
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: the Bosa signing, and but a lot of people were down,
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: like he's never healthy, this sucks. Should have kept Vaughn,
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: should have got someone else. And I understood that, but
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: I when healthy, he's still like he's still like a
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: top fifteen to twelve edge rusher in this league. That
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: Joey Bosa is still in there. And even though he's
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: a bit older, he's still kind of fresh because he
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: hasn't played a ton because of injuries, and the injuries
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: that he's had haven't been you know, career altering like
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: some other guys have major No Jinks fingers crossed on
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: everything I just said. And now we get another game
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: against the Dolphins, who look real shoddy on offense. Again,
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: no Jinks fingers crossed. We'll see what he's able to
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: continue to put together. But again I'm gonna continue to
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: echo what I said in the first half of this
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: episode and set throughout the offseason. I think Joey Bosa
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: is this team's best chance at having a true edge
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: one off the outside. It's just a matter of health.
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: If he's healthy, this is a huge win. And it's
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: just a matter of how healthy he can be in
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: terms of like actually being able to play games, but
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: also what capacity is he able to play? Is he
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: a guy who, yeah, he's suiting up to day and
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: he's playing, but you can tell, like, ooh, he's laboring.
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: He doesn't look good, and that's what you saw last year.
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: Like in the tape last year, even when he came back,
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: you could tell he was a dude with some back
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: and some growing issues. Like you could tell that when
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: he moved, he looked like he was in pain. You
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: could tell he was trying to gut through it and
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: great his way through. And for anybody like you have
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: growing in back issues, that's why you know. I saw
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: some people kind of saying things like, oh, I didn't
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: get his performance against the just was like, oh, I
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: didn't see this kind of guy on the tape the
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: past couple of years, and like, yes you did. When
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: he was healthy, you saw it, but you didn't see
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: it all the time because he was hurt and the
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: type injuries he had wasn't things you could work around,
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: Like if you got a hurt back and a hurt
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: growing or you got bad hips or a bad hanmy, like,
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: there's only so much you can do. It's not like, oh, yeah,
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: I broke my hand, I could put a cast on it.
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: I mean that still hurts you as well, but you
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: know he he's been hindered and now we'll see if
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: it happens. Are we sitting here seven weeks from now
- 1:19:57Speaker 1: and he's been out for three games, or are we
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: sitting here ten weeks from now and he's you know,
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: playing with a nagging hammy or a nagging back injury,
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: or he strained his calf again or he heard his
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: shin or something like that, like and it's like, ah,
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: he's just not a He's not able to close the gap.
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: He's not able to just play through contact. He's not
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: able to change angles and paths and be able to
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: put the mental plan with the physical. We'll see. But
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: you know, very encouraging performance from him in week two
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: and very much kind of the Prince that was promised
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: so far. We'll see what that looks like going forward.
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: And like we talked about in the beginning of this episode,
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: I don't think where we are two weeks in is
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: a known quantity for anyone, positively or negatively. But hopefully
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: you get an uptick from Greg Russau. Hopefully Ed Oliver
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: comes back healthy. And I think that's the big point too,
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: right If Ed, I mean, how Ed played in week
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: one was wild. I don't think anybody's going to keep
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: up that kind of pace. But if you can get
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: that kind of Ed Oliver More and this kind of
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: Joey Bosa more everything else, like everything else is fine,
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: like honestly, like, everything else is fine, very exciting, very hopeful,
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: very promising. I want to grab this comic because I
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: saw it, but I was in mid though on anyone
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: lose my train, Laurence said, Bolksa did some field fields dressing. Well,
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: don Lauren, I don't think you've ever made a comment
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: that has been on point and made me laugh. That's
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: well done, that's well done. That's well done. Oh, this
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: is a good comment here. His approach is like a
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: triple threat. He always likes, he always looks like he
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: can do multiple things off his approach. I think that's fair.
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: And he does do that, like he'll win through your
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: outside shoulder, he'll win through your chest, and he can
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: win inside like he is like a speed to power
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: kind of bull rush type of dude. But his plotting
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: stance allows him to play off of the His plotting
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: rush path, I should say, allows him to play off
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: those ankles angles.
- 1:21:43Speaker 3: All falling apart.
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: More almost done anyway, but you don't know, like, uh,
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: oh is he going here? Is he going here? Is
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: he going through my chest?
- 1:21:50Speaker 2: Like?
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: And he approaches it that way to kind of essentially
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: give himself a three way go. He plays it that way,
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: and then he knows how he's attacked you. Okay, I've
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: gotten you outside again. Now let me make it look
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: like it's outside and I'm going through your chest. Let
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: me make it look like it's going through your chest
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: and I'm going through inside, and vice versa. And then
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: when you pair that with the strength and the power
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: and the hand precision and technique, very exciting. So yeah,
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: I'm encouraged. I am encouraged. Um you know what else,
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: I'm always encouraged by the best pizza in Buffalo, New York.
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: If you live in Buffalo and you have not gotten
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: yourself One Pie Pizza, I'm disappointed in you. It's understandable.
- 1:22:28Speaker 3: I get it.
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: There's a lot of good pizza here, but One Pie
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: Pizza is sincerely the best pizza in Buffalo, New York.
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: I don't say that because they sponsor the show. They
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: sponsor the show because I think they're the best pizza
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: in Buffalo, New York. Sweet sauce, pie cup and sharp pepperoni,
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: great topping distribution, they'll chop if you get a bunch
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: of different veggies and different things. They'll chop it up,
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: sprinkle it evenly across the pie. They make their own
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: homemade blue cheese and it is immaculate. They do a
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: bunch of great salads and some dessert stuff as well.
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: They do a great breakfast pizza, and they also have
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: a catering division called Elevated Catering of Buffalo. So if
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: you got events or parties or anything that you're doing,
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: their catering division is top notch. I've had them do
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: stuff for some family events in the summer of the
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: past couple of years and it's been a one So
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: get yourself some one PI pizza if you live in
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: the Buffalo area. If you don't and you're visiting from
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: out of town somewhere for a bills game, or for
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: work or family friends, whatever, or something else, stop by
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: get yourself some one PI pizza. The links can be
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: found in the episode show notes. Whether're here on YouTube
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: or it's ever podcasting aper platform you're listening to the
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: show on, it'll give you the menu, the phone number,
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: directions online ordering anything and everything. And they're also really
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: good people making really good food. I use that tagline
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: all the time. That's not from them, that's just from me.
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: The food speaks for itself. And then all the initiatives
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: and the givebacks for the community, partner with roswelld to
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: try and knock out cancer Toys for Tots, the SPCA,
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: the Alzheimer's Foundation, and additional multitude other stuff. They're really
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: good people making really good food. Go get yourself some
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: one pie pizza asap. This is always one of the
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: hardest parts of the show because I talk about one
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: Pi pizza and then I want pizza and it just
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: can't happen at this point. Right now, Oh got super chat.
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: Thank you for being here, Carl, think of for the
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: super Chat. Carl says, Aunt, I'm not worried about injuries
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: as we have the Dolphins and Saints next. But if
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: Tarn and Cam are out Thursday, does Dorian Strong start
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: at Nickel? For me, absolutely no. I would put JaMarcus
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: Ingram in at Nickel, maybe even Hancock, but probably JaMarcus Ingram.
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: If Tarren and Camer are both are out, I'm going
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: with I'm going with JaMarcus Ingram. He started as a
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: Nickel I think he still can operate in that capacity.
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: That's what I'll go with I also haven't been his
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: hype on Dorian Strong as some other folks are. I
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: think he played fine in Week one, but I don't.
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: I think people were kind of using the numbers to
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: make it seem like he played better than you did.
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: He got beat a couple of times. Mentally and physically.
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: I think he's been fine. He's a you know, fine
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: rookie corner, and I do think he fits the system.
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: But yeah, I would play JaMarcus Ingram at Nickel just
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: from the NFL experience that he has there. I would
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: also play JaMarcus ing Ingram at outside corner over Dorian Strong.
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: So I got out ruled there, so maybe that'll have
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: it here too. Hey Mary said it. I know what
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: encourages the ant the most. Josh Allen and pistol. They
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: ran some pistol, they ran one play a pistol. I
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: think it's very encouraging, very encouraging. Jim Jack says Ingram
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: had a great game last year in Week one. Good
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: Size also had to pick six against Miami in Week two.
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: He was There were some injuries on the back end
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: there early in the year, with Tarren going down and Ingram.
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: They were they weren't comfortable having Dorian on the field
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: and third downs, so they will go with dime personnel
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: on third downs and JaMarcus Ingram will come in and
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: play admirably. I just think he's good against the run,
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: He's got some size, he can play press, he's physical,
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: he's a good tackler, and he's I think he's better
- 1:25:45Speaker 1: in coverage than he gets credit for. I like JaMarcus Ingram. Yeah,
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: I would start him at Nickel if Tarrn and camera down.
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: But again I would have started JaMarcus Ingram at outside
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: corner over Dorian Strong. So I guess I'm just in
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: that fan club. I want to go back to this
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: from Adrian who said, what about t J Sanders and
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: Dean Walker? How did they do? T J Sanders had
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: a really nice run defense rep playing some gap in
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: a half against the right guard, got into him, extended
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: head in the B gap, shedded him, got back into
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: the shedded him, shed him, got back into the A,
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: helped make a play on the ball with Terrell Bernard.
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: I think Sanders has been fine, but largely non existent.
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: I think Dion Walker has been non existent as well.
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: I think the most concerning thing for Walker is just
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: you're seeing him get blown off the ball in the run,
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: you know, just seeing him get displaced. Some of it
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: is the high pad level and how that connects to
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: his size and frame and how he's built. But you
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: just got guys getting into his hip and his lower
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: back and knocking him sideways and then being able to
- 1:26:48Speaker 1: turn and seal him, or if it's you know, zone,
- 1:26:50Speaker 1: being able to wash him down and push him far
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: past where they need to go, and then even being
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: able to get under him a little bit and knock
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: him back. But we haven't seen too many of those
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: because not a lot of teams run downhill on the bills.
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: It's really just been more of you know, him kind
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: of getting displaced horizontally and sealed off and holes and
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: alleys developing, and then on zone runs washed down. So
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: for me, it's part for the course. It's what I
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: expected come regular season time if he played and was healthy.
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: It was really encouraging to see what he did in
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: the preseason. But when the bullets are live against like
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: the true ones for teams, I thought we'd see some
- 1:27:22Speaker 1: struggles and we have, but two games in. I think
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: it's part for the course. I didn't expect him or
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: Sanders to set the world on fire early on, but
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: you know, I thought the Bills did some things the
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: course correct that a little bit with some of their
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: pass rush games the five oh you know creation looks
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: like we talked about. Some of the run blitzes I
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: thought were very well timed and helped take advantage of
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: their skill sets or mitigate things a little bit. But
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: I think they're really going to need to lean into
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: that because neither Sanders or Walker are the strongest kind
- 1:27:50Speaker 1: of point of attack versus the run kind of guys,
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: especially against double teams. But so for me, it's part
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: for the course. There's nothing to worry about. I expected
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: this given their skill sets and build so we'll just
- 1:28:02Speaker 1: it's a matter of continuing to watch them stack games
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: and reps and see where they go from there.
- 1:28:09Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: Put the banner of this says to tootle folks, because
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: we're gonna say goodbye. Start to wind down. Turnout was
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: really fun tonight. If you have not already, please please, please,
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: and thank you drop ake on this video. I know
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: it's corny to ask for that, but likes are the

- 1:28:56Speaker 1: have honest feedback, cool let me know same thing here
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: in the YouTube comments there for the engagement in the algorithm,
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: But if you have actual feedback on anything, something you
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: want me to cover, something you don't want me to cover,

- 1:29:08Speaker 1: continue type of feedback, whatever you got. I sincerely appreciate
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: all that because I'm always trying to get better in
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: any way, shape or form. But thank you to everyone
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: for tuning in learns that I'm really just hoping to
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: get a rally and cry of strong Side week side
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: with Dorian Strong at some point this season in some
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: practice footage for an embedded episode or something like that.
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: Spot on as always, Lauren, well done, well done. Now
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: I kind of need.
- 1:29:31Speaker 3: This as well.
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: That's very good, well done.
- 1:29:35Speaker 3: I lost my trade of thought. That was good.
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: Yeah. I hope you folks enjoyed this episode. Tell your
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: family and friends and loved ones about this episode, about
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: this show, if you enjoyed it. If you didn't enjoy
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: it and you hated this episode, or you hate me,
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: or you hate the Bills or whatever, tell your enemies
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: and try and make them watch this show and ruin
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: their day by doing so. I really hope you guys
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: enjoy this quick turnaround this week. I completely forgot that
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: the Bills playing on Thursday, and it's thrown my podcasting
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: schedule and regular life schedule a bit into flux, which
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: is annoying. But we get some football in a couple
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: of days. Until then, enjoy the rest of your week.
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: I appreciate all the kind words coming through. Oh Caesars says,
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: it needs to be earlier. It's three thirty am. Here,
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: where are you? I'm interested to know. If you don't
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: mind sharing, you don't have to say specific like obviously
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: like city location, but feel free to be like this
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: country or wherever you are. That's very interesting.
- 1:30:33Speaker 3: Cool.
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: I see all the kind words that are coming through
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: one from you earlier seas. But everybody putting kind words
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: in the comments, I appreciate them. I say it every week.
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: I see them all. I appreciate them all. I feel
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: corny bringing them up when I'm just by myself, but
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: I see him every week, and I'm sincerely appreciative of
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: them and thankful. Oh Cecil's out there in Portugal. Oh
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: are you? I'm assuming are you a Ronaldo guy? No,
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: no judgment, I'm just a huge messy guy. I'm just
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: assuming because you're saying Portugal Portugals. I also got a
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: really fun team such as like with Fatinya, I'm a
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: huge soccer dude. I'm assuming you are. That might be
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: an incorrect assumption by me, but yeah. I don't get
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: to talk soccer a lot with people because none of
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: my close circle pays attention to soccer. So anytime I
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: see somebody from a European country with a South American
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: country with a good soccer team, I'm immediately like, oh,
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: good times, all right, folks, I appreciate you. Enjoy the
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: rest of your Tuesday night or the rest of your
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: I guess you know, rest of your early morning if
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: it's three three am, wherever you are. Enjoy the rest
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: of your night.
- 1:31:35Speaker 3: Folks.
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: I appreciate the hell out of everyone. Thank you for
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: all the engagement with each other, with myself. Thank you
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: very much to no Thanks Brad, s, Jason, and Carl
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: for your super chats. And yeah, I appreciate all the
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: forms of support in every form and fashion that they
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: come in. And I help you and your family and
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: friends and loved ones are all doing well and staying safe.
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: Be kind of one another, take care of one another.
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: I will see you when I see you, God Speak,
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: and as always go Bills.
