- 0:21SPEAKER_01: Oh, gotta read this one.
- 0:23SPEAKER_01: He says, Good everyone.
- 0:24SPEAKER_01: If we are doing songs, because we uh at the beginning of the show played uh Earth, Wind and Fire, you know, because it's the 21st of September.
- 0:31SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 0:32SPEAKER_01: And he says, 10 more days until we play Green Days, Wake Me Up when September ends.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 0:38SPEAKER_01: Thank you for the reminder.
- 0:40SPEAKER_01: Wake me up.
- 0:43SPEAKER_01: Bye! Um, also morning.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: Filled with emotion.
- 0:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 0:48SPEAKER_01: Oh, lots of it.
- 0:50SPEAKER_01: Oh, and then wait, hold on.
- 0:52SPEAKER_01: Uh, this one, Circle K finally found a place to land.
- 0:56SPEAKER_01: Aw, yeah.
- 0:57SPEAKER_01: That'll be another new thing coming.
- 0:59SPEAKER_01: But we were just talking about Seven Brew.
- 1:01SPEAKER_01: And it brings up something that I saw on TikTok over the weekend.
- 1:04SPEAKER_01: Seven brews, if you don't know, they have coffees, cold brews, we heard muffins.
- 1:08SPEAKER_01: Muffin tops.
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: Yay.
- 1:11SPEAKER_01: Uh, is it okay to bring an iced coffee into a job interview?
- 1:14SPEAKER_01: Now, Scott, I know you are, I mean, you're an uh an operations manager of this radio station and another one.
- 1:21SPEAKER_01: You're the program director.
- 1:22SPEAKER_01: So you've been in the position where you have to sit in on an interview.
- 1:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:26SPEAKER_01: Are you okay if somebody comes into an interview and brings an iced coffee?
- 1:30SPEAKER_01: And I wish I had one to swirl around and they're like, oh, this is a bad stuff.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: Well, but I get the I get the idea.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: No, I'm I'm in I'm obviously going to be interviewing someone of a certain generation and they're gonna be walking in and that's the way their style is.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: So, you know, the hardest thing I've had to adjust to when it comes to dealing with interviews is a lot of what we used to look at, which was supposed to be very prim and proper, has almost left us a little bit.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: Um, I myself back in the day would not have come to an interview with an iced coffee.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: I wouldn't have even come in with a coffee.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: In fact, you don't even come in with nothing.
- 2:07SPEAKER_01: Uh, your resume?
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: Well, I mean, they have it already, but you know.
- 2:12SPEAKER_01: And I and even pen and notepad, yeah, those days are gone because I can take a note on my phone.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: Which I feel is less intimate and ignored because now I'm like, are you paying attention to me?
- 2:23SPEAKER_01: I do too.
- 2:23SPEAKER_01: And you know what?
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: I I go to a lot of meetings, and unfortunately, and one of the things that I do is I take notes on my phone, yeah, and I always preface it with, I'm paying attention to you.
- 2:34SPEAKER_01: I'm taking notes.
- 2:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 2:35SPEAKER_01: And and oh, yeah, yeah, okay, we understand.
- 2:38SPEAKER_01: But I bet you in their mind, they're thinking I'm texting.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: In an interview, you'd be thinking, You're not paying, you're not engaged with me, you're doing whatever.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 2:46SPEAKER_01: So you still should come in pen, paper, resume, and coffee, no coffee.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: I I I wouldn't, I would, I mean, I I don't necessarily know.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: Man, times have changed with this.
- 2:57SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 2:57SPEAKER_01: So yeah, it's uh you know the coffee too, what I don't like is where do you put it?
- 3:03SPEAKER_01: You don't know the office you're going into.
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: Oh, it doesn't matter.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: People carry iced coffees everywhere.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: Funeral homes.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: You're going in to pay your final respects.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: Hang on, I got a lot to you.
- 3:12SPEAKER_01: This is so true, but I also know that it gets a lot of condensation, and I don't like the idea of having a condensation ring on my leg because I like maybe set it on my leg.
- 3:21SPEAKER_01: Because I'm crossing my legs, I put my coffee there, and then all of a sudden it starts sweating on my knee.
- 3:27SPEAKER_01: I just I think it looks unprofessional.
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: The only way I can answer this is like this.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: If I had two people coming in, I'm envisioning, by the way, females coming in with the iced coffee.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: I don't think it's a lot of guys that are coming in with the iced coffee.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: I don't know why.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: I just feel that if if you're of a younger generation, you're the one that's gonna bring in an iced coffee.
- 3:47SPEAKER_01: Probably, Scott, before you answer this though, I I do want to hear what you guys think about this as well.
- 3:53SPEAKER_01: So get on our app and and yeah.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: If you were hiring, would you pay, would you give them the real consideration deserved?
- 4:00SPEAKER_00: Oh, because let's say they're qualified.
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: Is it a notch off?
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: Okay, so go ahead.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: So that's the problem.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: If I had two people equally qualified, and and like I said, they're both female because I that's what I'm envisioning bringing in the iced coffee.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: Most guys are just not, you know, I mean, we just it's not our number one go-to.
- 4:17SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: If I'm if I'm in a situation, and this is my own hurdle to get over, equally qualified, both of them, the one with the iced coffee does get the notch down for me because I'm like, are you taking this 100% seriously or are you just totally casual?
- 4:33SPEAKER_01: But then do you need your emotional support iced coffee to get through this interview?
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: But then the other part of me goes, Well, are you confident enough that this doesn't really phase you?
- 4:43SPEAKER_00: Like, there's a time and a place.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: Would you bring an iced coffee into a courtroom?
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: You shouldn't.
- 4:48SPEAKER_01: True.
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: You should not.
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: If you just I'm using this as an alternate example, whether it's a speeding ticket or you're going in for whatever, you really should not do that.
- 4:59SPEAKER_00: So it's it's kind of the same thing.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: But again, I in today's generation, I'm stuck with the qualifications over the butt, if you're put together every other way, it I can live through it.
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: But if there's two of you equally qualified, the person without the ice coffee is getting more of my my um my interest because I'm like, okay, you've come to engage in me, not stuck through a straw.
- 5:23SPEAKER_01: Well, I agree with that.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: And do you stuck through a straw while you're while I so let me ask you in five years, where do you see yourself?
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: Um, well, I'd like to actually have four other jobs between now and five years, and I want to make$300,000 and basically work two days a week.
- 5:42SPEAKER_01: And I'm probably I'm probably gonna I'm probably gonna show up late because I've I've been in these seven brew lines for 45 minutes.
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: Now that we've laid it out to you, what do you guys think?
