- 0:00[SPEAKER_01]: Hey everybody, welcome back to the Gwe Malkin' Away.
- 0:04[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you're starting that way already.
- 0:06[SPEAKER_01]: I'm your Will Baby Host, Chad Anderson.
- 0:11[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm here with Wage Geals videos.
- 0:14[SPEAKER_01]: We've only done Baby Talk on my show once ever.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_01]: It was in the Albert and LCD episode.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_01]: And because LCD's that little girl robot that talks like a baby and Wolverine all the time, we're not gonna do Baby Talk through the whole thing I promise.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_01]: We just had to begin there.
- 0:27[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, we're here to talk about fan favorite characters, whether you want to admit it or not, the ex babies.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_01]: This episode was inevitable.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_01]: And I am joined by two diaper wearing baby loving.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just kidding.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_01]: They've got, they came and caused play, there's pacifiers and bibs.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so joking, we gotta get the baby jokes all out of the way right at the start.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_01]: Eric and Ray from Rage Gear Studios are here.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_01]: You guys are delightful, I'm so happy you're here.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome, tell everybody a little about yourselves and your studio.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_01]: And what were you like as a baby?
- 1:06[SPEAKER_01]: That's my initial question for you, each.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_04]: Well, I'm Eric.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_02]: I'm right.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_02]: two guys who met at work and you know online and then who kind of just clicked and sort of drawing together and wanted to go to shows at this we wanted to go to a show where there was limited seating so it was like why don't we just like form a studio and go together and that was San Francisco 2012 and now now here we are still doing it and I guess we just enjoy being around each other.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_01]: And we love to art.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_01]: So we love to experiment in incredible artists.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to be talking about some of your art today, but I'm going to save them in a minute.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_01]: So what were you each like as a baby?
- 1:41[SPEAKER_04]: Wow, I got to think about this as a baby.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_04]: Well, I don't have to think too hard.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_02]: I was a private baby.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_02]: Mom's boy.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's mom dressed until he was 15.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_01]: Did all the right things.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_01]: You were the good boy.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, so I was too A was a bad That was good.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_02]: Well the thing that I didn't speak English that I was like eight or something and I just got thrown into there was no yes
- 2:09[SPEAKER_02]: I just got thrown into school like that so I kind of like figured it all out and that's kind of how why I started drawing because I just to be understood I would go to school.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_02]: I come home with like drawings of toilets and fruit Because I had just that's what I was giving the teach It's like I was getting that order of toilets and fruit
- 2:26[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, like that's what I remember.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like grandma had apples and toilets.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_02]: I got she had chewed keep things out I wish I didn't know where they got like those drawings.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and like they would ask me things like draw fire hydrant I had no idea like I just couldn't English at all.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_02]: So I was just confused quiet with drawn kid and then I think then it was easy to just lose myself in in that in the drawing Because I was that kid just giving box crayons on newspaper and he just
- 2:52[SPEAKER_02]: Go about watch your shows, do your thing, and as a parent, just like, Chuk, because I was already in another world.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_02]: It was, I guess the problem was pulling me out of it.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_02]: So it was just, I guess I was just a quiet and introverted.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_02]: But not a private, no.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_02]: No, not not then.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I'm really good at you over and over today.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_01]: As a dad of two children, it's interesting for me.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_01]: And we'll just have this conversation once.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_01]: This is the scariest, only serious part of today's episode, frankly, I have two children who were very different as babies.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_01]: One was very cryy and then like, Kleeney and the other was very stubborn.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_01]: And it's been interesting, they're both teens now.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_01]: And they're kind of the same way they always were.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you just grow up to be who you were supposed to be.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_01]: If you grow up in that way.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_01]: We have a lot of baby stuff in our culture.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_01]: We've got like that whole, there's, I mean, there's fetishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishishish
- 3:53[SPEAKER_01]: We hate baby talk almost universally.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_01]: However, in like fiction worlds, we love like baby, I don't know, boss baby and rug rats and muppet babies.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_01]: We love like a baby like cartoon theme.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_01]: We even love to make like baby versions of characters that we love.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_01]: If you think back to when you were growing up, did you have like a baby show that you loved?
- 4:18[SPEAKER_01]: I really loved muppet babies growing up and I really love rug rats too, if I'm honest.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_02]: I was kind of all there was because I was watching Thundercats and G.I.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_02]: Joe and even in Thundercats, episodes where they were like bringing like the Thunder kittens and they were just like the age versions of they were just deaged for like an episode or two and then they come back and so there was oh yeah you're right it's always been there like every every series has like let's make the babies for a minute for me was a family guy too right like like baby stewy and family guy I'm sorry Eric oh yeah
- 4:47[SPEAKER_04]: No, the same Muppet Babies and Rugrats was also big, but I was already like high school when Rugrats came out.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_04]: But yeah, we will watch that.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_01]: So if you tried, could you still come up with the Muppet Babies theme song?
- 5:01[SPEAKER_01]: Of course.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_01]: It's when you're ruined.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_01]: It's kind of weird and you wish that you would just close your eyes and make
- 5:09[SPEAKER_01]: believe you can go anywhere and like all the yeah like a delicious right it would go to YouTube and watch Muppet babies it's probably really obnoxious now but who are kids it was a vanger of a show yeah yeah we're gonna open today by talking about mojo very quickly mojo
- 5:28[SPEAKER_01]: is an any-nissenti creation.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_01]: He's a big, I don't know.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's the Harvey Weinstein of the X-Men.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_01]: That's my, that's my very simple play on this, but he represents like the Hollywood producer who doesn't care about your rides and just wants to make quality entertainment.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_01]: And he gets power from all of the literal, they're called Spineless ones who are glued to the television.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_01]: He's constantly using crazy, primorial things to like erase people's minds and do super
- 5:55[SPEAKER_01]: He like exists outside of space and time, kind of, and there's always rebellions.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_01]: There's a ton to say about this character.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_01]: My favorite thing about him is his boyfriend, Major Domo.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_01]: I love long shot to a certain extent.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot about this guy.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_01]: What are your one two takes on Mojo?
- 6:13[SPEAKER_02]: Mojo is a great villain because it's, he's a statement on media, which we all in some capacity have taken every single day.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_02]: Like he's just, it's about the ratings.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_02]: It's about getting the attention, getting the hits.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_02]: And even now, more so today, with the getting the likes and getting
- 6:29[SPEAKER_02]: and have an engagement and doing like all these things we do now to to garner attention and some kind of benefit from it, whether it be notoriety or income or whatever you're looking for out of your social media, it's just is propagated and he's really cute, be such an amazing villain to keep active right now, just because it's just all relevant, everything he does is like relates to today.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_02]: So I mean he's he is the current administration.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_02]: Mojo, he's whancing, but he's also strong.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_01]: Like, it's just, yeah, it's the cartoon voice that gets me more than anything.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 7:04[UNKNOWN]: All right, it's man.
- 7:05[UNKNOWN]: I can't.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_01]: I, Eric, are you a Mojo fan?
- 7:08[SPEAKER_04]: Not particularly, but yeah, his appearance would always kind of freak me out.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_04]: He just his his you know eyelids are being pulled back like It's just a weird creation the brain and he's you know, he's sitting on top of a mechanical like Biter spider type of thing.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, because he has no spider legs.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and then except for Mojo to the sequel He has a spider legs
- 7:33[SPEAKER_01]: Mojo is Hollywood, right?
- 7:35[SPEAKER_01]: It's the, you know, if you sign the deal, then they own your soul, they'll rewrite your property, they'll cast you as whatever they choose.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_01]: And whatever is a hit, you keep doing and whatever is not you don't.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_01]: Now, the ex babies are an obsession of the ex men who he's constantly putting into different formats, right?
- 7:53[SPEAKER_01]: I write a lot of ex men's stories in my spare time that I will probably never publish, but hope to
- 7:58[SPEAKER_01]: Like I've done like a mojo gets some of the best marble characters and casts them in like the real housewives like that type of premise is so fun in my brain, but Thanks babies is something that was already happening in the comics sometimes we've seen characters like nanny
- 8:15[SPEAKER_01]: who would like de-age storm to like a child era where she lives for a long time as like little row, you know, like we have this kind of idea of characters as children Magneto gets turned into a baby by all the time all the time Magneto gets turned into a baby
- 8:32[SPEAKER_01]: There's some interesting tropes that have kind of always been there, but when we go to 1988 cartoons have evolved to a certain degree past what they were in the 1970s And we have a little bit more plot.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_01]: They're a little more punchy.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_01]: They're a little more silly.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_01]: They're a little more ronchi This is where the X babies first show up and there's an infamous annual Xman annual number 12 in a story called I want my Xman by Mojo.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_01]: That's gonna be my Mojo voice today
- 8:55[SPEAKER_01]: The X-Men have been dead for a while.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_01]: They're really in Australia.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_01]: And Mojo is obsessed with them and he's so fucking upset.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_01]: He's just ranting and crying and his boyfriend made your Domo's trying to comfort him.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_01]: And there's that girl like minor Domo's beard.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_01]: So annoying and freaking out.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_01]: And she's collapsing and everything has to be reset.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_01]: Everything's going crazy.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_02]: If Domo's, Mojo's boyfriend, then that's Domo's beard.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_02]: So when they just act in the most, she's always such a mess.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, Major Domo gives me like Edwin Jarvis energy, where every other character in Mojo world is like, what are you doing here, HU, what's the name of it?
- 9:33[SPEAKER_01]: All rough.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_01]: So Mojo has a brain-trust of writers, which in this issue include Chris Claremont, Bob Harris, Glennis Oliver, Tom Orzakowski, Bob Weyachek, and Art Adams, even though none of them are named, this is the literal creative team on the book.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_01]: And they have a bunch of bad ideas, so Mojo turns Claremont's head into a baby.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_01]: And then it gets the brilliant idea that he can replace the X-Men by making his own baby versions.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_01]: I never want to meet baby Chris Claremont, that's not a goal of mine at- But that's the fun origin of the X-Bavies.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_01]: So he steers his ship and he's got Rikashirita or Spiral still strapped in, well, that's another conversation for another time.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_01]: And he tries out a bunch of X variations.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_01]: Let me hear your one-two punch on each of these.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god, that's fantastic.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_01]: So the first one is the ex-women.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_01]: We've got long shot in Nightcrawler, Colossus Wolverine, Magneto, and Havic.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_02]: They look great.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you got buff females, psych Colossus, and Magneto excreted with a long right here.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_02]: Like, they just, that was it.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_02]: I think all of those were hits, even though they all got the shaft.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_02]: They all got kicked off the boat.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_01]: Because Phil, predictable, doesn't think, thing, doesn't think fans, doesn't think, why?
- 10:40[SPEAKER_02]: Well, they put on the bomb, they look cool.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_02]: But then they do get funer.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_02]: Like, that was, you know, he's right.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_02]: It was a little standard.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_02]: It was a little predictable.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_01]: We get the X-Arman wars.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_04]: This is the last of the Stasler Wolverine Stormhavic.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_04]: Those were like mech, all right?
- 10:55[SPEAKER_04]: Transformers to style.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_04]: I thought they would deliberately cool.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_04]: And our atoms, his art was amazing.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_01]: So they get dumped too.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_01]: Then we get the X, and I'm just going to call these the skinny leather bitches.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_01]: This is Wolverine.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, and then a natural, historic palacus rope, Stasler, and night crawler.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_02]: Don't worry about that Wolverine.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_02]: What about that Wolverine?
- 11:15[UNKNOWN]: Oh.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_02]: Wolverine was like, it was like, fuck, it's a story.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_02]: Hey, a Harry Potter.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_02]: And everybody else like strap leather, skin tight, everything.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_02]: Hi ponies is very long stretch out Ariana's.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_02]: It was a lot.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_02]: It was a mess.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_01]: Then we get the X animals.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_01]: We got long shot as a goal.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_01]: Storm as a cat, rogue is a badger.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_01]: Colossus as a gorilla, havoc as a hair, Wolverine is a bulldog, dazzler as a pig,
- 11:45[SPEAKER_01]: as a lovable as adorable as irresistibly commercially cute as can be but he dumps them to eric the ex-animals thoughts yeah they're pretty cool that could have been a hit I thought
- 11:59[SPEAKER_01]: Now this is where I want to pause very briefly, you guys do a lot of stuff in your art where you will draw x characters in other worlds and combine them.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_01]: Are you working for Mojo and tell some of it.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_01]: There are listeners, some of you figured it out.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, tell us some of your favorite or most clever x-men hybrids that you've drawn.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_02]: They all are, they all like I love the Star Wars one like when it makes sense when when the mashups, they seem to just perfectly align Like the battle of the planets and the original five if they just perfect, they got the kid, they got the guy with the scary hit mass so he was like beast There's Star Wars works because like it's braven as the father
- 12:39[SPEAKER_02]: of Luke and Leia Rogan and I probably like it just it just works and then the gem it's just it's a lot of fun when it makes sense and for me kind of all revolves around how I can make it rogue is in this world.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_02]: How does everybody else fit in?
- 12:53[SPEAKER_02]: I just put this kind of like it helps me guide it all with the rabble rights like that was just a fluke and hadn't like man I was just trying to pull stuff from all over the place trying to have something different every time the Roger rabbits and they just been it's just fun.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_04]: I'm biased.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_04]: I love Erase, uh, color kids like his, uh, he did so many characters and different colors, um, you know, there was a mashup with the rainbow bright.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, they were just beautifully rendered and they were a big hit.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_04]: They went viral, um,
- 13:22[SPEAKER_04]: You know, they've featured in like different blogs and websites and whatnot.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_02]: And entertainment weekly.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 13:28[SPEAKER_04]: So they're on back.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_01]: They're, you've, uh, there's all kinds of mashups, right?
- 13:32[SPEAKER_01]: There's everything from Pokemon to Muppets to He Man to Mario.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_01]: Like whatever we choose, they can fit anywhere, which makes it delightful.
- 13:39[SPEAKER_01]: And that's one of the fun things about walking around Comic Con's because artists are always trying to, like, get people to catch their eye.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_01]: Like, if I do the X-Men and the Legend of Zelda of mashups, people are like, oh, I have to have that right.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_02]: Right, like it's it was fun as people who attend conventions like we want to be what we don't see you know that that kind of like helps us like how many iterations of Spider-Man are you willing to purchase like if it you make a different and finding different fandoms just kind of make us imagine just one thing.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_01]: So going back to the annual every time, Mojo has a reject like there's like a vanna white lady who has like pull a lever and they just go dumping off into space.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_01]: I'm assuming all these characters exist somewhere.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_01]: We we can meet the X animals on another planet.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_01]: We also have other universes out there that are total hybrids.
- 14:24[SPEAKER_01]: If you guys ever read anything with spider ham where like all the Marvel characters are recast as animals, right?
- 14:30[SPEAKER_01]: It's like
- 14:31[SPEAKER_01]: Instead of Mary Jane Watson, it's Mary Jane Waterbuffalo.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's got a Captain America, it's Captain America.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_01]: And it's very like Saturday morning cartoon, and there's a whole world out there that's been used again and again and again.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_02]: I know because of the spider births, but that's it.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah, there's like a whole 80s like comic run.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_01]: All your favorite characters have been recast.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_01]: In fact, in that world, we have a group called the Uncanny X-Bugs.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_01]: It's like little insect versions of all the X-Men.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_01]: They're real stupid looking, and nobody knows who they are, but they're funny.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_01]: There's even an issue in the 90s.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_01]: There's one single issue called the Power Packed Irms.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_01]: And it's a bunch of Marvel characters, including X-Men, who are like recast as elephants.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_01]: There's like, there's a bunch of this shit out there.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_01]: The people don't come out.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_01]: So in this world though, here's the caption we get.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_01]: Our after hour X-Men after X-Men mutants without end, the audition goes on and on and on and on and on, skinny X-Men, fat X-Men, giant X-Men, tiny X-Men, musical X-Men, dancing X-Men, X-Men fish, X-Men insects, chimps and X-Men costumes, X-Men Mimes.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_01]: Magic X-Men, which is not a word that we use these days as much of course, X-Men made of straw or brick or mint chocolate ice cream.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_01]: Each group more boring, more tires, some more maloterus than the one before, until just when he thought things couldn't get worse.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_01]: They're young, they're proud, they're contentorous, they are the mighty X babies, and
- 16:03[SPEAKER_01]: and little Wolverine heads up, tabby, and little long shot.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_01]: Guess who's back?
- 16:08[SPEAKER_01]: Little havoc, little storm, little classes, little silock.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_01]: They look like they're about 12 though, not babies, even though they're called babies.
- 16:16[SPEAKER_01]: And they're all in variations of their costume and it's kind of jarring.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_01]: Mojo reverts long shot into a photograph.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_01]: Like, nope, I don't want that guy here.
- 16:23[SPEAKER_01]: Like, sends him off into nothing.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_01]: And little Wolverine says, thanks a heap.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_01]: Fats, now there's more girls gonna team up than boys, food.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_01]: Lil Rogue says, shut up, we'll be you, Meney, and Little Dazzler says, long shot, oh, the love of my life, you're just a picture.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_01]: So, Mojo tries to eject all of them as well.
- 16:41[SPEAKER_01]: There's a momentary interdimensional event related to the character gateway, who distracts things, so Mojo wants the characters branded instead.
- 16:50[SPEAKER_01]: Rogue and Dazzler fight over the long shot photo, while the others beat up the mean guards, and they free Ricochet Rita.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_01]: Lil Wolverine says, stupid useless girls, always ruin and everything.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_01]: And Mojo says, you've been very naughty.
- 17:03[SPEAKER_01]: You will suffer.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_01]: You wretched wastrels as none has in all eternity.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_01]: Shall I boil you?
- 17:10[SPEAKER_01]: Hmm, saute, poach, breaded and baked, fillet and fried in a nice cheese sauce.
- 17:16[SPEAKER_01]: Chocolate covered in frozen on a stick or a barbecue.
- 17:20[SPEAKER_01]: I saw a lot of barbecue tasty tasty.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yes.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yum.
- 17:24[SPEAKER_01]: Major Domo informs Mojo that the ex-babies are a huge hit with the Spindless ones.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_01]: And suddenly that they have unlimited profit potential maximum exploitation merchandising spin-offs and Mojo's.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_01]: Like I'm brilliant.
- 17:38[SPEAKER_01]: I love you.
- 17:38[SPEAKER_01]: However, do I do it?
- 17:40[SPEAKER_01]: My bumps just bouncing x babies come to papa.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to be so successful you and I you are in the money working hard as you can.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_01]: I spend it won't that be fun.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so glad you approved but will the snicked smojo in the butt instead?
- 17:56[SPEAKER_01]: Normally major, major domo does that everybody, but
- 17:59[SPEAKER_01]: ex babies turn to the reader with Rita long shot turns back into his baby form and they all escape.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_01]: So they have now become playable characters in the Marvel Universe and that's the intro story.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_01]: That's the whole thing.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_01]: Let me hear your thoughts.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_01]: That was a lot.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_01]: The lists of the types of the hybrids, the interactions with the characters.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_01]: What do you think of the
- 18:27[SPEAKER_01]: Saturday, we went to cartoons, did me well, friends.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_02]: Well, from the beginning, these guys were originally like de-aged X-Men, so those are particular cast characters.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_02]: And now that he's just fabricated them out of whatever he uses, was in me, you know, plasma.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_02]: So that he's made his own version of him.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_02]: It's like bringing that same group back, like the right early out back.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_02]: So it's like it was a very popular group of X-Men.
- 18:49[SPEAKER_02]: So I love seeing them, not because in the real world, it wasn't fun anymore.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_02]: Like they weren't happened.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_02]: It was very serious book at the time.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_02]: in this form like lighting the mood, that was part of the evolutionary war event.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_02]: So it's all very hydroma.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_02]: We find out the colossus has a kid.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_02]: There's so much going on there.
- 19:08[SPEAKER_02]: But then the x babies at the end lighting it up and make it funny and it was perfect and part of their atoms is brilliant.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_02]: Like his work at the time was so good.
- 19:14[SPEAKER_02]: And the Chris Claremma, I think he, well, he does with the x babies and presses me more than what anybody else is on with.
- 19:20[SPEAKER_02]: Because for him, there is statement.
- 19:25[SPEAKER_01]: This feels like an end to senty story, almost more than anything.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_01]: She writes that like very punchy, quick, quicky dialogue, and this is nonsense.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_01]: It's crazy to us.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_01]: Eric, what were you thoughts on some of these character moments for the little baby X-Men?
- 19:37[SPEAKER_01]: The girl's fighting over long shots, photograph.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, it's what kids would do.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_04]: I think it kind of brought that into something that wasn't shown before.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_04]: Like the X-Men being kind of a little bratty, you know, just like having that charm as kids.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_04]: And I thought that was it was fun.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_04]: Um, yeah.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_02]: I think bratty kids or bread kids are popular.
- 20:00[SPEAKER_02]: You got like Dennis Domeness.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_02]: You got the little rascals.
- 20:03[SPEAKER_02]: Like this is something about more baby stuff.
- 20:05[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, there's something about the, it was at the chaos.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_02]: It's the chaos that they bring.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_02]: This is the silly slapy chaos that makes it just totally depart from the standard.
- 20:15[SPEAKER_01]: So they're back to very next year.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_01]: Claremont and Art Adams team up again with these characters and Excalibur Mojo Mayhem, which is a one shot.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_01]: Ricochet Rita escaped with the ex-babies.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_01]: They're running from the forces of Mojo.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_01]: Unregistered character concepts they say stand and be exploited in the name of mojo's trademark police Wolverine says Little will be says this poots.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_01]: I wasn't born to run.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_01]: Let's fight.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_01]: So they're running Wolverine gets another that poots to like I'm at it later
- 20:45[SPEAKER_01]: Bill jealous about Rogan long shot and the group is running into this massive building that generates all this story ideas in the world and the mojo verse.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_01]: There are different wings in the building marked evolutionary war secret war secret war secret war's two crisis They go running into the forbidden zone and inside their costumes and looks change They are sent to another dimension and then mojo summons the agent Mojo guy don't worry about it
- 21:08[SPEAKER_01]: but listen to the Hollywood parallel.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_01]: The agent now has to go represent the talent that has escaped is the very clear theme.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_01]: So the X-baby's find the real shadow cat in her underwear on a moving train for reasons and they ask for help and Wolverine tries slashing her legs.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_01]: He makes fun of her panties.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_01]: Kitty's first thought is how the X-Men must be.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_01]: Dead, or our dead, excuse me, and our second thought is how the ex-babies are like Rachel, they're escaping from another world, which is when you think of it as like their refugees from this awful place where they were changed slave, that's its own version, right?
- 21:40[SPEAKER_01]: They get separated from Rita, they go to the local cops, but it turns out it's the agent, oh no, and he gets siloct to sign a contract, and then once she signs it, she gets absorbed into his form.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_01]: So like, don't sign the deal, friends, that's the key.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_01]: They end up stealing the angel's car.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_01]: They meet Chris Claremont, Mike Late, Grant Morrison, John Bolton.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_01]: The agent slowly acquires the ex babies taking their powers until Excalibur joins and helps expose the agent as Ricochet Rita in another transformed form.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_01]: So, Modules have been fucking with her again.
- 22:10[SPEAKER_01]: Poor lady.
- 22:11[SPEAKER_01]: We'll talk about her again another time.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_01]: A little storm at the very end says,
- 22:14[SPEAKER_01]: Mojo, we wish to make a deal.
- 22:16[SPEAKER_01]: We will return and star on your wild ways and promise never to even try to escape again, but they make Rita's contract void first and then head back into the Mojo over.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_01]: She follows them in.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_01]: The kids start making demands.
- 22:30[SPEAKER_01]: They want script approvals.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_01]: They want housing, they want vacations, they want better working conditions, lots and lots of toys, no yelling at us, profit points, merchandise, shares, casting consultations, and Mojo got what he asked for, let me hear your thoughts on this story where they beat the agent and then demand rights.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_02]: how labor laws, but also it's a story, it's a caliber so kind of extensions got around Katie.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that at the time, it was closure for her.
- 23:00[SPEAKER_02]: Like she had lost all these people that she loved.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_02]: They're all gone, the music mat and the massacre, the them being in the outback, them being dead, and like they can't be detected by you.
- 23:08[SPEAKER_02]: But whatever Roma and Forge did to them, the X-Men are gone and she got left out because she was not well because she can't control her density and now she's surrounded by them again in this other form where she can kind of like say goodbye properly or you know I feel it was a very sweet yes it's silly it's X-Baby's but for Kitty it was an important moment to happen and I'm glad to be back
- 23:29[SPEAKER_01]: It's interesting to watch Kitty take this, take it seriously for a minute.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, these are refugees, right?
- 23:34[SPEAKER_01]: Like these, they're, they're real.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 23:37[SPEAKER_01]: It's almost the, it's almost the clone like identity story in a way.
- 23:41[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, but also because she can use that relation, like she understands because of Rachel.
- 23:45[SPEAKER_02]: And then she's got these ties to these characters.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_02]: Even though they don't know her from a hole in a wall, they don't, okay?
- 23:50[SPEAKER_02]: But she is able to project everything that, it's the people that she lost.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_02]: They're all right there in front of her in a different form and finally being able to be around them after forming an exam.
- 23:59[SPEAKER_02]: Because that's why it all happened because she just wanted that home again.
- 24:02[SPEAKER_02]: It was a smart move.
- 24:04[SPEAKER_02]: I think it just bring that moment together.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_01]: As working professionals, the theme here is when you sign the deal and don't have representation, you get absorbed.
- 24:12[SPEAKER_01]: But when you have someone that stands up for your rights, you get to share in the profits a little bit and make some demands play the game.
- 24:18[SPEAKER_04]: It was like a smart way to bring that into the books, you know, just taking this property basically and making them like, hey, we have demands, we were kids, but we also, you know, want rights and kind of like they're organizing and stuff.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_04]: So those are a good way to portray that.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, it's intense in its way and there's some really strong kind of parallels.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to jump all the way to the mid 90s now.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_01]: We have X-Men 46.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_01]: This is the post-age of Apocalypse era on the books.
- 24:49[SPEAKER_01]: On the cover, we see the totally unexpected return of the X babies, Bishop Cyclops, Rogue, Gambit, Archangel, Ice Man.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_01]: So there's a new group, right?
- 24:57[SPEAKER_01]: Mojo's been rebranding.
- 24:59[SPEAKER_01]: the X-Men are always going through changes.
- 25:01[SPEAKER_01]: Inside we see little we see storm and iceman the baby versions hiding in the children's section of a bookstore where genes trying to help iceman feel comfortable about coming out even though it doesn't quite say the page.
- 25:13[SPEAKER_01]: And as they're doing this they get discovered and little iceman says
- 25:17[SPEAKER_01]: Look what you did.
- 25:19[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, by the way, here, they look much younger.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_01]: They were like 12 in the last appearance and now they're like five and a half like all of the characters like look like little little kids, right?
- 25:28[SPEAKER_01]: You guys got that too when you looked.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, definitely.
- 25:30[SPEAKER_01]: They're much younger.
- 25:31[SPEAKER_01]: Storm says me by the godling.
- 25:34[SPEAKER_01]: I'm innocent.
- 25:34[SPEAKER_01]: No way.
- 25:35[SPEAKER_01]: Wait.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_01]: Iceman says, side, storm don't speak in contractions.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_01]: This storm does can't, can't, can't, can't, can't.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_01]: We see a few more X babies, rogue, bishop, gambit, cyclops, archangel.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_01]: They're found by men with guns outside.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_01]: Uh-oh, says rogue, we're in trouble.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_01]: And cyclops says, shush, rogue, hum.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_01]: And then cyclops says a list.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_01]: Naturally, they're at the very reason of a left-flonation for all of this.
- 26:02[SPEAKER_01]: It's giving, like, very creepy things.
- 26:04[SPEAKER_01]: How do you do it?
- 26:05[SPEAKER_01]: How do you do it?
- 26:07[SPEAKER_01]: Gamma's like demand if we just told him who he is.
- 26:09[SPEAKER_01]: So they're the ex-baby cyclopsist.
- 26:11[SPEAKER_01]: Please, sir, that, uh, whoa, I don't have a hard need some of these.
- 26:15[SPEAKER_01]: Violence is not necessary.
- 26:17[SPEAKER_01]: And let the matter of self-preteration, so that we're giving looty tunes, one of the men threatens to shoot them.
- 26:24[SPEAKER_01]: Well, he says, well, this is I'm gonna plug you.
- 26:25[SPEAKER_01]: And Rogue says, why are we leaking, sir?
- 26:29[SPEAKER_01]: Don't miss up an adult icemaner there.
- 26:32[SPEAKER_01]: Cyclops says, they were from the pocket dimension named the mojo birth after the art of formerly known at the mojo.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_01]: We used to be in the world's biggest entertainment, but now we're about to get the act, literally, there.
- 26:44[SPEAKER_01]: So mojo has sent Gog and McGog, the giant monsters to kill them.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_01]: So baby Cyclops suggests that they run, rogue is upset.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_01]: She's ways.
- 26:53[SPEAKER_01]: I could have said run.
- 26:54[SPEAKER_01]: Bishop replies indeed do do and Cyclops fush rog Geez fuh fuh fuh instead of shoshes fuh fuh fuh rogue and all the rest of you stay close I don't want to be separated until we know what's going to happen to the storm and ice man Relax the gang.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, wow.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_01]: Half leader.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_01]: I'll panic for everyone.
- 27:15[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 27:15[SPEAKER_01]: That gets old real quick.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_01]: Nevermind.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_01]: I don't like it anymore
- 27:17[SPEAKER_01]: So, they run into the streets, they are immediately are preyed upon by a Catholic priest who seems very interested in spending time with them.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_01]: That's a mooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
- 27:46[SPEAKER_01]: And Dazzler ends up throwing up to take all the ex-baby's home.
- 27:50[SPEAKER_01]: So we've got Mommy Dazzler in her long shot, getting pregnant with Shatter Star Era.
- 27:55[SPEAKER_01]: She's in a freedom fighter mode, and she's going to go be the mom for the ex-baby's.
- 27:58[SPEAKER_01]: I rush through that really quickly.
- 28:00[SPEAKER_01]: The art on this is really fun.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_01]: The Catholic priest is nope.
- 28:04[SPEAKER_04]: I remember actually reading this when I was probably, I think, maybe 14 or 15, so it was just so random that they appeared and actually was my first, it was my introduction about on the X-baby.
- 28:09[SPEAKER_04]: So I knew I guess reading that they had some past history before, but, you know, it was just, you know, it was just, you know, it was just, you know, it was just, you know, it was just, you know, it was just, you know, it was just, you know, it was just, you know, it was just, you know, it was just, you know, it was just, you know, it was just, you know, it was just, you know, it was just, you know, it was just, you know, it was just, you know, it was just, you know, it was just, you know, it was just, you know, it was just, you know, it was just, you know, it was just, you know, it was just,
- 28:22[SPEAKER_04]: I thought I'm a big fan of Andy Cuber, so I thought it was cool to see the, you know, the ex babies on the page.
- 28:29[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I had a difficult time reading Cyclops's list.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's really, it's, it's rough though, but yeah, I agree.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, another cartoon, another baby cartoon we didn't talk about from our childhood is Tiny Tunes, which was the name of it.
- 28:43[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yes.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_01]: It's really great.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_01]: Cyclops is eating like plucky duck.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_01]: We see them very briefly in Wolverine special 102.5, which sounds like a radio station.
- 28:55[SPEAKER_01]: Wolverine gets trapped in module world where its simulations of all of his bows are fighting him, and we see very briefly long shot dazzler and the X babies, and you got to kind of assume dazzler over there is going what the fuck happened to my life.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_01]: Like I met this hot guy with like hollow bones, and now I'm like babysitting my former teammates in baby version.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_01]: We don't get a lot from her, but this is not what
- 29:18[SPEAKER_01]: This is not a little too interesting to then.
- 29:21[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, then we start to get the X babies as more of a franchise at Marvel.
- 29:25[SPEAKER_01]: Like Mojo licensed them over to Marvel Comics.
- 29:27[SPEAKER_01]: Ray, will you tell us about X babies murder, Rama?
- 29:30[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, man.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_02]: All right, so murder, Rama is the first time we see more than just X babies.
- 29:34[SPEAKER_02]: We see the X villains too.
- 29:35[SPEAKER_02]: There's like the brotherhood book.
- 29:37[SPEAKER_02]: So there's a mistake and love and save it to them.
- 29:40[SPEAKER_02]: And you know, they're going around killing
- 29:41[SPEAKER_02]: Purple Smurf's torturing them until the X-Men show up and it's not the typical X babies.
- 29:47[SPEAKER_02]: It's again, it's a whole other group.
- 29:48[SPEAKER_02]: This is like the group of like right when after the first time of purple, like when the the first the all-new X-Men show up and it's everybody, the storm and palaces and night color were green and then cyclopped with the hoodie on.
- 30:00[SPEAKER_02]: whether he was in his hair was covered up.
- 30:02[SPEAKER_02]: So it's just a whole nother squad and they don't talk.
- 30:05[SPEAKER_02]: Like he doesn't have a list but it's it's the same dynamic like what we're in in Cyclops of fighting.
- 30:10[SPEAKER_02]: Katie's there and now Katie's the cute reason to one and that it's just it was a fun story being that it was more than just the babies.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_02]: It was also the villains and you've seen that for the first time.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_02]: And the world the artist on this is also great JJ Kirby.
- 30:23[SPEAKER_02]: He did such a great job with the ex-baby.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_02]: He was only like second to Arthur Adams.
- 30:27[SPEAKER_02]: I saw it like he's so good.
- 30:28[SPEAKER_02]: This is a fighting rap song, they're fighting rap tar from like the rap ratches in it.
- 30:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_01]: And this is where we start to see other other worlds as well.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_01]: There's also like a whole village.
- 30:38[SPEAKER_01]: They've got like theme songs in style side.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_01]: So like there's like when you open the book, there's like it's almost smurfs like they're living in vegetables and there's like a piece of arms and groups of Hicks and the the brotherhood of evil mutants are being really awful.
- 30:54[SPEAKER_01]: We also see more code names given, like Colossus's Colossus's.
- 30:58[SPEAKER_01]: We've got Stormish shower, Nightcrawler is Creepy Crawley, Wolfie Boyo for Banshee, which might be my favorite.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_01]: And then Sike, and yeah, there's these kind of like villain antics as they're going back and forth.
- 31:13[SPEAKER_01]: They're fighting over like pie, and they're
- 31:17[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know it's it's a really it's a really cute little kind of punchy Saturday morning cartoon feel But it's very very silly, but a really quite tolerable baby toe.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's really cute We've got shadow kitty and ice boy rogue is sugar and then like at the end like a bunch of characters All-make an appearance.
- 31:39[SPEAKER_01]: There's a bunch of these and the bad guys by the way are the brotherhood of mutant bullies or b-o-m-b
- 31:44[SPEAKER_01]: where it's magneto juggernaut, a toad is toad pole, a pyro is phyro, the sebertooth is snaggletooth, blob is slob, and mystique is mystiqueue, M.I.S.T.I.
- 31:55[SPEAKER_01]: space cue.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_01]: So, these evil babies with like evil arcade running around, we don't have to delve deep into it, but you kind of make that idea that this is what the Spineless ones are watching in Mojo world.
- 32:06[SPEAKER_01]: They're buying me of the older babies ran away, so Mojo made worse what's wrong, right?
- 32:11[SPEAKER_02]: And they remind me of the episode of the X-Men animated series where they get into most of us and they get paired off to complete missions of their own and they all go off on these separate little dual-missed missions, get stormed and ban sheet with zombies, got light-proiler and colossus solving massive puzzles and Wolverine and Cyclops fighting it out on like an obstacle course and then Cyclops disappears like he falls into a pit and then they got to kind of keep going and he's come
- 32:38[SPEAKER_02]: back to the team.
- 32:39[SPEAKER_02]: They're like, what happened to the cyclops?
- 32:41[SPEAKER_02]: And then she's like, uh, then we want to talk about it.
- 32:43[SPEAKER_01]: But it's, it just takes a minute.
- 32:44[SPEAKER_01]: He comes writing back out on a purple dragon named Locksteed.
- 32:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 32:48[SPEAKER_02]: And then the whole crew, like when cyclops come back, he comes up with everybody, like Megan, and Matt and Megan, every, every X, everywhere at the time is, isn't it?
- 32:56[SPEAKER_01]: Like that's, and then the professor comes out at the end and is Charlie X, not, we X, X, not the same.
- 33:02[SPEAKER_02]: And then the rat, the whole thing, like, this was a, it was a
- 33:08[SPEAKER_02]: because it's right because it's a the mode of what is murder world, but then it turns out it's not even arcade, it's funhouse, which is baby arcade.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_01]: This is written by JJ Diaz, it's 1998, it's silly, it's fun, well worth the read.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_01]: As far as the X babies go, this is one of the more tolerable ones if I'm honest.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_01]: And then Eric, do you want to tell us about X babies reborn, which is the follow-up series from just around the same time?
- 33:38[SPEAKER_04]: was this right after onslaught and they were trying to capitalize on the reborn.
- 33:45[SPEAKER_04]: Yes.
- 33:45[SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
- 33:46[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 33:46[SPEAKER_04]: This is called be where the baby maker.
- 33:48[SPEAKER_01]: We get a shot where is that a direct warning about leg of the vagina?
- 33:52[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.
- 33:57[SPEAKER_04]: be where the baby maker.
- 33:59[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, but the ex babies are the participating in a training session at Danger Playpen.
- 34:04[SPEAKER_04]: We got the characters, shower, wolfie, sugar, creepy crawler, such hild, and colossuses.
- 34:10[SPEAKER_04]: During this training session, Kitty somehow phases through some machinery kind of messes up the playpen, and I guess
- 34:19[SPEAKER_04]: One, they're separated in two different teams and they're trying to earn points and by accident, Shuga gets her, gets her outfit kind of torn and side-child, you know, they make contact and rogue, siphons too much of her power and since they're all made out of this new plasma, it really affected side-child and she's not doing so well, so boyx, which is prof, the prof they call,
- 34:44[SPEAKER_04]: says that they have to return and bring such how back to Mojo World where she was created.
- 34:50[SPEAKER_04]: So they go on to this mission and I guess their mission is to find a long shot in Dazzler.
- 34:57[SPEAKER_04]: And they finally get into Mojo World and run into Dazzler.
- 35:02[SPEAKER_04]: And she's like, I don't know how to help you guys, but she directs them to the textbook sisters.
- 35:08[SPEAKER_04]: Now, before this, where they, is my first time reading out, no, these are like, I don't know, they, they're like weird oracles somehow, yeah, but like just made for the baby world, yeah, okay, so they, they talked to these tech book sisters who start performing a spell to
- 35:24[SPEAKER_04]: to bring such a child back because now at this point she's melted into group and she's in a canister and they get interrupted by spiral and she grabs the canisters about to go back and hold time I think they showed Mojo also wanting to create some more
- 35:43[SPEAKER_04]: X babies were iteration of that, and he got the brilliant idea to do like X villains instead.
- 35:49[SPEAKER_04]: So he, I guess he sends read on this chase.
- 35:52[SPEAKER_04]: But right before she teleport, Rogue was a, oh, Shuga was able to get the canister back.
- 35:58[SPEAKER_01]: The, the textbook sisters, their names are, are Prima Sagundra and Tarshia, which just means like, one, two, every girl.
- 36:04[SPEAKER_01]: Latin, I think.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's, I think.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't I don't think there's any other point to that.
- 36:08[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 36:08[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just driving this.
- 36:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so at a certain point, they, they meet the mighty vendors, the, the baby versions of the Avengers that we see for the first time, which is again, we're going to go babies for a moment.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_01]: We have all the mini marbles stuff.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_01]: and all the stuff drawn by like Chris Aliopoulos and like Franklin Richards in the Marvel Universe where there's like baby characters everywhere.
- 36:28[SPEAKER_01]: So this has been done again and again.
- 36:30[SPEAKER_01]: But I think this is the first version of baby Avengers in 1998 with a Whisp Captain America, a hockey, iron-aest thunder son and big boy.
- 36:40[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 36:42[SPEAKER_02]: Is big boy giant man?
- 36:44[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 36:45[SPEAKER_04]: check it.
- 36:47[SPEAKER_04]: Then the ventures and the ex-baby start fighting.
- 36:50[SPEAKER_04]: I guess uh it's basically like it seems like an excuse to bring out the Asian sidewalk.
- 36:55[SPEAKER_04]: So at the end of the scuffle they get the canister.
- 36:59[SPEAKER_04]: It falls into the meal pleasant glue.
- 37:01[SPEAKER_04]: They at the end of it sugar discovers a sidechild survived and she is in her new ninja body.
- 37:09[SPEAKER_04]: So it's like Asian sidewalk.
- 37:11[SPEAKER_04]: The mojo is furious
- 37:14[SPEAKER_04]: Shadow Kitty, again, uses her phasing to kind of disrupt the machine he's on and by now the ventures, they work together with the X babies because they realize that Mojo is the villain, you know, they're going to team up and, you know, do good and take them over, take them down basically.
- 37:32[SPEAKER_01]: We also get this like giant image of like the evil, there's like a bunch of evil characters that show up here as babies.
- 37:40[SPEAKER_01]: My favorite one, we don't need to list them up, but my favorite one is the
- 37:44[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe Mr. Sinister, like Craven the Hunter and Red Skull and the Brute and Sandman, there's all kinds of characters.
- 37:50[SPEAKER_01]: Again, just kind of zaning nonsense.
- 37:52[SPEAKER_01]: It's not super relevant.
- 37:53[SPEAKER_01]: It's just fun.
- 37:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so X-Men and Limited 32.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_01]: There's a single image of Dazzler changing Baby Wolverine's diaper, which is awful.
- 38:02[SPEAKER_01]: X-Men on Limited 37.
- 38:03[SPEAKER_01]: the X babies get yanked into a big alternate reality fight with a bunch of different alternate reality X men.
- 38:09[SPEAKER_01]: Now we have the fourth one shot.
- 38:10[SPEAKER_01]: There's X babies number one.
- 38:12[SPEAKER_01]: This is, well, it's a three-issue limited series.
- 38:15[SPEAKER_01]: And now I have had Greg Schiegel on the show.
- 38:17[SPEAKER_01]: We've talked to him about this.
- 38:17[SPEAKER_01]: And the artist on this is Jacob Chabbot, who's really, really fun.
- 38:21[SPEAKER_01]: There's three covers on the first issues.
- 38:23[SPEAKER_01]: We get the babies night crawler storm, Colossus, Rogue Wolverine, Cyclops, Kitty,
- 38:27[SPEAKER_01]: who has little hearts around her face, as she stares at Cyclops, which is so weird.
- 38:31[SPEAKER_01]: Comic book is helping the characters merge over with Marvel Comics 1980s.
- 38:37[SPEAKER_01]: They had like a line of comics that bringing these like Marvel 80s properties into the Mojoverse for this kind of crossover.
- 38:47[SPEAKER_01]: So if you were a kid who bought these comics in the 80s, this book is for you.
- 38:51[SPEAKER_01]: And if you were not, you will not give a shit about this book.
- 38:53[SPEAKER_01]: But there's a lot of reading about it.
- 38:56[SPEAKER_01]: So this series is it's pretty fun.
- 38:58[SPEAKER_01]: We open in the savage play land where the baby X men are teeming up with baby cuz are and babies Abu and we're talking babies.
- 39:05[SPEAKER_01]: These are like diaper wearing pacifier sucking baby versions this time.
- 39:09[SPEAKER_01]: They fight baby soron.
- 39:10[SPEAKER_01]: They punch some dinosaurs.
- 39:12[SPEAKER_01]: They reference apocalypse and an event called the cradle will fall of the mutants.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_01]: but they seem break out of their programming and they see Mojo has other children's programs, Alf, while he's the wizard in Marlin, Top Dog, Planet Terry, with Omnis and Robada, Royal Roy and, of course, Spider-Ham, they see an image of a cartoon by the way where they are teeny tiny even smaller babies and storms like in a onesie and they are like, what vegetables, where's my vegetables?
- 39:41[SPEAKER_01]: The villain in the series is like Evelyn and Mr. Beach,
- 39:48[SPEAKER_01]: and it's just kind of silly and they're popping all around and in the end they arrive back in like a polluted terrible mojo verse where they've got to fight the like evil versions of the babies of themselves and then there's like this giant splash page of like a cute baby version of every X-Men character, baby maggot and baby marrow and like all the all the babies
- 40:12[SPEAKER_01]: It is, look at baby cable.
- 40:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and all right, well, you just tell us about this last page.
- 40:17[SPEAKER_02]: It is, it is the cutest.
- 40:18[SPEAKER_02]: So they had X babies.
- 40:20[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, these like, X, teetises, like, I don't have much to do.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_02]: They can get because it's like, newborn.
- 40:26[SPEAKER_02]: That pacifies.
- 40:27[SPEAKER_02]: They have, and they're made out of goo, because the thing is, like, they were supposed to, these cutie tiny, teeny, teeny ones were replacing the regular X babies.
- 40:35[SPEAKER_02]: And they were meaner because they were more devoted to Mojo like they're just they had less urgency so then they fight and we're in shreds of all because we're just a smaller group of them like shreds of all to like jelly and then they all come back together but then there's like even more of them and the fights are fantastic because they have there's a scene where the kid is one of the good guys she's just like one of the no one said not.
- 40:58[SPEAKER_02]: Well, one of the good guys, we're just living it at that.
- 41:00[SPEAKER_02]: But then she's fighting all the tech oriented characters.
- 41:04[SPEAKER_02]: Like whoever the guy who drew this really knew how to situate the fights.
- 41:07[SPEAKER_02]: Like they were all like very planned out.
- 41:09[SPEAKER_02]: Like who could fight who, I one point like all the Farrow characters are fighting against somebody.
- 41:13[SPEAKER_02]: And it's just, it's, it's a really smart, a doerably drawn book.
- 41:17[SPEAKER_02]: I'll say that.
- 41:18[SPEAKER_01]: It's really cute.
- 41:19[SPEAKER_01]: And again, there's so many many babies.
- 41:21[SPEAKER_01]: Jacob Chavez did a brilliant job.
- 41:23[SPEAKER_01]: Like, if you're going to do this, like, this is how to do it, because why not just make it the funnest thing possible.
- 41:28[SPEAKER_01]: Plus some evidence.
- 41:29[SPEAKER_02]: Like, Archie's just adorable.
- 41:31[SPEAKER_01]: Really, really fun.
- 41:32[SPEAKER_01]: And then we keep going.
- 41:33[SPEAKER_01]: We have another X babies one shot.
- 41:36[SPEAKER_01]: Again, now the Marvel, the Mini Marvels are starting to take off.
- 41:39[SPEAKER_01]: I don't, I'm sure you guys have followed some of the mini Marvels stuff that like, they put in the back of the books.
- 41:44[SPEAKER_01]: And there's been full, you know, like comics about them too.
- 41:47[SPEAKER_01]: separate universe and there are x babies in those universes too.
- 41:50[SPEAKER_01]: We have a baby's versus x babies, one shot coming out during the x-men versus Avengers event.
- 41:57[SPEAKER_01]: Erickly tells about this one.
- 41:58[SPEAKER_04]: Well, in this one is Drumbai Guri, whoo, whoo, whoo, whoo, whoo, whoo, whoo, whoo, whoo, whoo, whoo, whoo, whoo,
- 42:04[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 42:04[SPEAKER_04]: And they also, I know them from all the avatar books, but I was very cute, very like chibi-sized, talking about them up at babies.
- 42:13[SPEAKER_01]: And this one's written by Scotty Young, who's well-known for, like, with sort of Oz adaptation and like, you know, like they do little kid stuff a lot.
- 42:22[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, and we're talking about Muppet babies and we have, uh, I guess kept in American's parents.
- 42:24[SPEAKER_04]: You don't see them like ever their faces or anything.
- 42:25[SPEAKER_04]: You just see like their legs and just go, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa,
- 42:37[SPEAKER_04]: tucking him into sleep and you know he's saying good night to all his bears and he realizes he's missing Bucky Bear.
- 42:45[SPEAKER_04]: He looks out his window and guess who's a cross.
- 42:48[SPEAKER_04]: Cyclops is holding his Bucky Bear and yeah then from across the street and I guess I'm kept in America, assembles the Almighty Avengers and then Cyclops summons all the X-Men and a big battle in
- 43:06[SPEAKER_04]: Yes.
- 43:07[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, we're a Bucky Bear at that at the end of it.
- 43:11[SPEAKER_04]: The Phoenix appears super annoyed and blows everything up.
- 43:18[SPEAKER_04]: And the next morning, we see Captain America, it has the Bucky Bear embed with him.
- 43:25[SPEAKER_04]: And but then it's scopes out as soon as out and you see like half the neighborhood is blown up
- 43:33[SPEAKER_04]: This was like very silly.
- 43:35[SPEAKER_01]: I thought it's really cute though Yeah, I really enjoyed reading this book.
- 43:39[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes they're annoying.
- 43:40[SPEAKER_01]: This one was fun.
- 43:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's epic.
- 43:43[SPEAKER_01]: It's the mini marvels, right?
- 43:45[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to kind of pile through the rest of this quickly and then we'll kind of just take time to vibe.
- 43:49[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes we're really deep dives and like we'll like take panel by panel and like character by character.
- 43:54[SPEAKER_01]: This one, we're telling you what you need to know.
- 43:56[SPEAKER_01]: If you want to see Baby Thor, Smash Baby Colossus over a bucky bear with a hammer, and then Hulk hop off with the bucky bear into the woods to keep it firm self, like you could read all the details.
- 44:06[SPEAKER_01]: We don't need plot by plot points, but it's fun.
- 44:08[SPEAKER_01]: It's really cute.
- 44:09[SPEAKER_01]: Um, in Spider-Man in the X-Men 3, this is a really delicious book.
- 44:14[SPEAKER_01]: This is the infamous book that has the Soron, doesn't want to cure cancer.
- 44:17[SPEAKER_01]: He just wants to eat dinosaur,
- 44:22[SPEAKER_01]: So this is when Spider-Man and the special class of students go into the multiverse and they meet the all new uncanny astonishing ex babies Wolverine rogue storm ice man They later fight Cyclops's ex babies who has Emma Frost magic in magneto, which I think is playing up on the schism event.
- 44:40[SPEAKER_01]: I mostly We go to moongirl and double dinosaur 24.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_01]: Mojo wants to franchise moongirl and double dinosaur so they're pulled into the
- 44:48[SPEAKER_01]: Multiverse and Mojoverse.
- 44:49[SPEAKER_01]: They meet the ex babies there, and they like propose a Mojo and the ex babies show.
- 44:54[SPEAKER_01]: These genetically engineered junior versions of the X-Men are a standardized news.
- 44:59[SPEAKER_01]: They used to be number one.
- 45:00[SPEAKER_01]: The fans simply lost interest and want something new.
- 45:03[SPEAKER_01]: I even tried to relaunch them new X-Men, which is a name we used before to great success, but nobody cared.
- 45:10[SPEAKER_01]: Later, of course, we get the Moon Girl Saturday morning cartoon on Disney Plus,
- 45:18[SPEAKER_01]: I jumped to X-Men blue 36, where Mojo TV attacks the X-Men blue team with a new group of baby X-Men, Sabre II and Jubilee are on this team.
- 45:27[SPEAKER_01]: Then we jumped to X-Men unlimited infinity comics 62.
- 45:31[SPEAKER_01]: This is Cricola, Erin Al, where on Xavier's calendar we simply see a note.
- 45:36[SPEAKER_01]: He has like his daily
- 45:38[SPEAKER_01]: There's a simple note that says, meeting regarding the legal release of the ex-babies from the Mojoverse, like he's trying to bring him to the island, I don't know.
- 45:45[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 45:45[SPEAKER_01]: And then lastly, and this is where we end, but this is the most unhinged.
- 45:49[SPEAKER_01]: Steve Fox gives us X-Men annual number one, which is the fire star joining the team book.
- 45:53[SPEAKER_01]: Mojo tries rebooting the ex-babies as ex-babies zombies.
- 45:57[SPEAKER_01]: but they turn on the production crew.
- 45:59[SPEAKER_01]: So there's like zombie X babies eating people in the X have to go like beat them up.
- 46:04[SPEAKER_01]: So we get zombie baby versions of Colossus storm rugs.
- 46:07[SPEAKER_01]: Cyclops kitty have a Wolverine night crawler.
- 46:10[SPEAKER_01]: Iceman goes, this is so wrong and magic goes.
- 46:13[SPEAKER_01]: This is so fun.
- 46:14[SPEAKER_01]: And I think
- 46:16[SPEAKER_01]: Those two lines are where we can kind of capture the energy of this episode.
- 46:21[SPEAKER_01]: This is both so wrong and so fun.
- 46:24[SPEAKER_01]: Chad, I'm just so impressed by you.
- 46:25[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 46:26[SPEAKER_02]: That was.
- 46:26[SPEAKER_02]: You put this together, so like I had no idea half of this happening.
- 46:30[SPEAKER_02]: Like you were so diligent.
- 46:31[SPEAKER_02]: This was my ex-baby's crash course.
- 46:33[SPEAKER_01]: And again, we could have jumped to the mini marbles and other places, but what are these characters?
- 46:39[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they're silly franchise, right?
- 46:40[SPEAKER_01]: It's mojo stuff, but do they represent the X-Men themes at all for you?
- 46:44[SPEAKER_01]: They're in a sense.
- 46:46[SPEAKER_01]: They're in a sense.
- 46:46[SPEAKER_02]: They didn't choose to be born.
- 46:48[SPEAKER_02]: They represent something completely different.
- 46:51[SPEAKER_02]: The X-Men represent bras and rights of the world and the...
- 46:55[SPEAKER_02]: the marginalized and being ostracized and all that stuff, the X may be some different problems.
- 46:59[SPEAKER_02]: X may be just got to deal with corporate America.
- 47:01[SPEAKER_02]: They have a, they have a, they have a, they have a different launch.
- 47:04[SPEAKER_02]: They, they don't deal with the same stuff of the X been do.
- 47:07[SPEAKER_02]: So they're very different, but the things that should be talked about for sure.
- 47:10[SPEAKER_02]: And it's nice of put light on them and make them more palatable, pat, have a little apple.
- 47:15[SPEAKER_02]: I'll let trouble you, which you did to Chad, your bought Chad, can you say?
- 47:18[SPEAKER_01]: That's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought, that's bought
- 47:39[SPEAKER_01]: And then okay, I want to hear from each of you, like what's the X baby story that you need?
- 47:44[SPEAKER_01]: You're working in the Mojoverse, Mojo gives you the property.
- 47:47[SPEAKER_01]: You have to make them relevant for the Spionless ones all over again.
- 47:50[SPEAKER_01]: What's your X babies one shot?
- 47:53[SPEAKER_01]: I want to do like X babies as like former child stars.
- 47:57[SPEAKER_01]: gone wrong in like a reality show.
- 47:59[SPEAKER_01]: It's like after school special like, you know, like baby babies, Cyclops is now like getting sold drugs by like former baby gambit under the bleachers and there's like all kinds of drama, right?
- 48:11[SPEAKER_01]: Like that would be really fun, I think.
- 48:14[SPEAKER_02]: I want to do something like stage moms, but like Emma Frost stage mommy Agala, like she's got to
- 48:23[SPEAKER_02]: They never did the X-baby's Hellfire Gallagher.
- 48:26[SPEAKER_02]: No, it might not be called the Hellfire Gallagher.
- 48:28[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I get told to see, like, wicked or wicked Emma, making sure that their hair's done right, and their dresses are like, just one of those horrible nightmare, really a reality TV mom that yell at all the kids, like, it's like, itch.
- 48:40[SPEAKER_02]: I thought that I think that would be fun to bring it in just contemporary era.
- 48:43[SPEAKER_02]: You know, just because of the Gallagher, because it's a party because fashion, because it's like, why not do the X-baby fashion?
- 48:48[SPEAKER_04]: a good idea.
- 48:48[SPEAKER_04]: I'm thinking more like maybe you know how there's all these baby videos out there parents recording their their kids so maybe like a social media platform and Mojo just wants more hit more likes and having some type of like social media thing where they're like recording them
- 49:05[SPEAKER_01]: doing silly stuff and going viral.
- 49:08[SPEAKER_01]: The ones that we haven't taken time to mention on I'm probably missing a couple.
- 49:11[SPEAKER_01]: There was like a baby Wolverine in that like exiles book.
- 49:16[SPEAKER_01]: Do you guys remember that like it's like old lady Kamala Khan and there's like a bunch of the exiles hop from reality to reality right and there's like a there's like a cartoon version of Wolverine that's part of that team.
- 49:27[SPEAKER_01]: And then like there was another reality hopping team that had like a 12 year old night crawler on the team as they're like hopping around.
- 49:34[SPEAKER_01]: But here's the story I really want to see.
- 49:35[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't know to my knowledge we have never seen Dazzler learn that she was pregnant with Shatterstar.
- 49:41[SPEAKER_01]: And we've certainly never seen her give birth to Shatterstar that I wanted.
- 49:45[SPEAKER_01]: I want like a dazzler in the Mojoverse during her freedom fighter era with Longshot, right?
- 49:51[SPEAKER_01]: So she's looking like that like short hair like video game outfit that we love and they end up with all the X babies and I want just a giant She's trying to make it work, but she just has a fucking fight with Longshot and like this
- 50:03[SPEAKER_01]: is not what I signed up for.
- 50:05[SPEAKER_01]: I'm changing Wolverine's diaper.
- 50:07[SPEAKER_01]: It's too much, and she's ready to quit, but then she learns she's pregnant, and then we fast forward, and she gives birth to her own husband's father, but also like because you know the time it's twisted.
- 50:20[SPEAKER_01]: Dazzler's done.
- 50:21[SPEAKER_01]: She's like, that's it.
- 50:22[SPEAKER_01]: I thought by singing career was bad.
- 50:24[SPEAKER_01]: I'm out.
- 50:27[SPEAKER_02]: But like it could even be worse because then the baby comes back with his boyfriend to help her deliver the baby like it's just so complicated with them Because this is what happens like she's in a cave and Richter and Shadowstar come in and they take the baby and they go put him in a tube like it's just imagine having like be aware during that Yeah, who are you?
- 50:44[SPEAKER_02]: Who's this Mexican guy?
- 50:45[SPEAKER_02]: Why are you taking my baby?
- 50:46[SPEAKER_01]: She is not having it.
- 50:49[SPEAKER_01]: Like this is not the life that she wanted.
- 50:50[SPEAKER_01]: That's all I could picture.
- 50:52[SPEAKER_01]: It's delicious.
- 50:54[SPEAKER_01]: These characters are fun.
- 50:55[SPEAKER_01]: They're annoying.
- 50:56[SPEAKER_01]: They're very overused to a certain extent.
- 51:00[SPEAKER_01]: But it's always in short enough spurts that it's a good time.
- 51:03[SPEAKER_01]: that Greg Sheagle series where they're hopping around with the like tiny baby versions.
- 51:07[SPEAKER_01]: It ends really fun, but you're like, oh my god, there's so many babies.
- 51:10[SPEAKER_01]: I think the, I think the right balance is that like a baby's versus x babies one shot.
- 51:15[SPEAKER_01]: It's just zany hijinks, and that's delightful, right?
- 51:18[SPEAKER_01]: It's a-
- 51:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, it's a silly, it's a silly kind of like acid trip for a minute, and that's all you need, but these characters are not meant to be taken that seriously, but they do exist.
- 51:31[SPEAKER_01]: They are real, they've been breathing, have diapers that need changed.
- 51:36[SPEAKER_02]: And you never know what you're going to get next.
- 51:38[SPEAKER_02]: You never know what the group is.
- 51:39[SPEAKER_02]: You never know what the, how they're going to look.
- 51:41[SPEAKER_02]: Because I think it's like they changed the pen.
- 51:43[SPEAKER_02]: Like when, they have to reflect the six, one, six and one and they land like they're just there.
- 51:46[SPEAKER_02]: Like when did baby gambit have?
- 51:47[SPEAKER_02]: Like how?
- 51:48[SPEAKER_01]: And now we need, now we need baby gossamer.
- 51:50[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
- 51:59[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, they would never.
- 51:59[SPEAKER_02]: I wish she's just so disappointed, but I would love.
- 52:02[SPEAKER_02]: I would absolutely love for the comeback.
- 52:04[SPEAKER_01]: This episode kind of accidently happened.
- 52:07[SPEAKER_01]: The only other person I would ever choose to join me for this one in particular.
- 52:10[SPEAKER_01]: Like if demand a martini was here with us, it would just... Yeah.
- 52:14[SPEAKER_01]: Right, like that's all that's all we needed.
- 52:17[SPEAKER_01]: Well, that's the ex-baby's folks in case you're wondering now, you know everything, go read some books if you'd like.
- 52:23[SPEAKER_01]: There's some fun ones.
- 52:24[SPEAKER_01]: I would recommend X-Men and you'll 12 and I would recommend ABB's versus ex-baby's.
- 52:28[SPEAKER_01]: And the rest are all fine, it's fine.
- 52:31[SPEAKER_01]: Do you guys have any concluding thoughts on these characters or their potential?
- 52:34[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, and I just thank you.
- 52:35[SPEAKER_02]: This was like, hey, they were so fun.
- 52:37[SPEAKER_02]: They are really ridiculous.
- 52:39[SPEAKER_01]: I would also be kind of fun to do like the evil ex-babies like the bad diversions like escaping and like mystique and like blob and magneto and apocalypse like have to deal with their baby versions that would be fun save the truth imagine like a murder baby they were too so fast a nasty gay little sinister baby oh my gosh screaming
- 53:02[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, he'd be the worst in all the clones.
- 53:04[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 53:05[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, babysitters would be a nightmare.
- 53:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 53:08[SPEAKER_01]: I'm kind of here for it if I'm honest though, that'd be a good time.
- 53:12[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 53:13[SPEAKER_01]: That's all we need today, some folks.
- 53:16[SPEAKER_01]: Or like, Jubilee has to babysit them for a whole day.
- 53:19[SPEAKER_01]: Like, just Jubilee.
- 53:20[SPEAKER_01]: Like, she just got rid of her baby.
- 53:21[SPEAKER_01]: And like, oh, my gosh.
- 53:23[SPEAKER_01]: Now she's done that.
- 53:24[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, now her baby's a dragon living in other worlds.
- 53:29[SPEAKER_01]: Excellent.
- 53:29[SPEAKER_01]: He can go eat the X babies now.
- 53:33[SPEAKER_01]: All right, Jeds, what a joy.
- 53:35[SPEAKER_01]: What a silly, fun, lovely way to spend an evening.
- 53:38[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to put this out on October 15th.
- 53:41[SPEAKER_01]: Follow the show at Greenmont and Under Score Lane.
- 53:42[SPEAKER_01]: The next episode, we're going to stay just ridiculous.
- 53:45[SPEAKER_01]: Arturo Ross and Steve Dude are joining me for an episode on the Bibles, who is that like two-headed, two skulls in one monster that like fights the Hulk sometimes.
- 53:55[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know why we're doing it, but we're doing it.
- 53:56[SPEAKER_01]: And he's ridiculous.
- 53:58[SPEAKER_01]: If you ever seen the two monster from the Sesame Street cartoons,
- 54:01[SPEAKER_01]: It's like that as a character, but also super strong.
- 54:04[SPEAKER_01]: He's ridiculous.
- 54:05[SPEAKER_01]: So stay tuned for that.
- 54:06[SPEAKER_01]: And then over on the main show, we're doing Halloween stuff.
- 54:08[SPEAKER_01]: So watch for ruins of Ravencroft Saber Tooth.
- 54:12[SPEAKER_01]: It will be our feature episode.
- 54:14[SPEAKER_01]: Feature issue with our featured guest Tony Flieks.
- 54:17[SPEAKER_01]: And we'll be ending the month with the trials of the Son of Satan and Satana.
- 54:21[SPEAKER_01]: So watch out for those.
- 54:22[SPEAKER_01]: Where can people find you both online?
- 54:24[SPEAKER_01]: And anything you want to plug for a Medoktober?
- 54:26[SPEAKER_02]: We're on Rage Gear Studios, everything.
- 54:27[SPEAKER_02]: Rage Gear Studios, all one word, Instagram, Facebook, dot com, blue sky, not so much to X anymore, which is the kind of we're trying to act.
- 54:35[SPEAKER_02]: But there's like, Rage Gear Studios, just one word.
- 54:38[SPEAKER_02]: And on our shop, Rage Gear Studios dot com, we got our shop, we got it for prints, just merchandise, shirt, you name it.
- 54:45[SPEAKER_01]: Whenever we get a job, you guys can do some more prints for my wall, which I'm always thrilled about.
- 54:48[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
- 54:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the wishes, I love it.
- 54:50[SPEAKER_02]: I kind of want to go traditional with these, but that's okay.
- 54:52[SPEAKER_01]: You do whatever you the or a little artist heart desires.
- 54:56[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, let me show you Just in the mail today.
- 54:59[SPEAKER_01]: I just got my David Cutler mentality.
- 55:01[SPEAKER_04]: Oh wow.
- 55:02[SPEAKER_01]: We got fun.
- 55:03[SPEAKER_04]: That's amazing.
- 55:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's so good.
- 55:05[SPEAKER_01]: I love it That just get it.
- 55:07[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah.
- 55:07[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, David Cutler.
- 55:08[SPEAKER_01]: We love you.
- 55:09[SPEAKER_01]: All right, everybody.
- 55:10[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks so much for listening.
- 55:11[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, Eric.
- 55:12[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, Ray.
- 55:12[SPEAKER_01]: Delightful every time.
- 55:13[SPEAKER_01]: Can't wait to hang out.
- 55:15[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, Chad.
- 55:16[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, boys.
- 55:17[SPEAKER_01]: And now stay tuned for some thoughts on fascism, as a special guest tonight talked about a red skull story and its modern applications.
- 55:27[SPEAKER_01]: The SS Totenculf Verbanda, or the Death's Head units, were formed in 1933 to guard and administer the growing system of Nazi concentration camps.
- 55:38[SPEAKER_01]: They took their name from the Totenculf, the skull and crossbones in Cygnia that was worn on their caps.
- 55:43[SPEAKER_01]: A symbol that had older roots in Prussian military tradition, but was repurposed by Heinrich Himmler's SS as an emblem of loyalty unto death.
- 55:52[SPEAKER_01]: After it all fitler became the chancellor, the first camps, including Docaau, required a dedicated guard force.
- 55:58[SPEAKER_01]: Under the leadership of Fiator Ike,
- 56:00[SPEAKER_01]: Appointed Commandant of Doc Ow in 1933, and later in Spector of the Concentration Camps as an official title, the Toltenz Kulf of the Bandha was the death-set units were structured into a centralized, disciplined, organization separate from the regular army.
- 56:16[SPEAKER_01]: Ike standardized camp regulations and imposed a rigid culture of brutality.
- 56:21[SPEAKER_01]: Guards were trained to view prisoners not as political detainees or civilians, but as enemies of the state beyond legal protection.
- 56:28[SPEAKER_01]: The camp system expanded rapidly after 1936, and the deaths had units became responsible for maintaining order, enforcing forced labor, and implementing punishments.
- 56:38[SPEAKER_01]: If you've read like Magneto Testament, everyone these are the guys that are guarding the camp that Maxis and Hard is living in.
- 56:44[SPEAKER_01]: There are authority-operated outside normal judicial oversight.
- 56:48[SPEAKER_01]: The structure enabled routine violence, arbitrary discipline, and later participation in the machinery of mass murder.
- 56:54[SPEAKER_01]: As the Second World War intensified, elements of the deaths had units were reorganized into combat formations.
- 57:01[SPEAKER_01]: The SS divisions, Toten Kof, the Skull and Crossbones, was created in 1939 from Camp Kersonel and fought on multiple fronts, including France and the Soviet Union.
- 57:11[SPEAKER_01]: Members of this division were implicated in war crimes against prisoners of war and civilians.
- 57:16[SPEAKER_01]: Meanwhile, the original guard units continued to administer the expanding camp network across occupied Europe, including Auschwitz, Moshdenek and other extermination centers,
- 57:26[SPEAKER_01]: By the end of the war, the death-set guards had become synonymous with the concentration camp system itself, many were captured and tried in post-war proceedings, including the doc-out trials and other allied military tribunals.
- 57:38[SPEAKER_01]: Evidence presented these trials detailed systemic abuse, executions, and complicity in genocide, and the Totencoff in Signia once intended to project elite status and ideological devotion became permanently associated with the administration of terror and the functioning of the Nazi camp system.
- 57:53[SPEAKER_01]: Now let's jump over to the world of Avengers vs. Avengers and X-Men, Axis 133.
- 57:58[SPEAKER_01]: This is a controversial 9-issue limited series that has some wild swings.
- 58:03[SPEAKER_01]: The first arc is called the Red Supremacy.
- 58:05[SPEAKER_01]: You know the truth, he's the one who cursed you to into this existence, open your eyes, a war you never wanted any part of.
- 58:12[SPEAKER_01]: What did you give up to protect these cattle?
- 58:15[SPEAKER_01]: What will it cost you?
- 58:16[SPEAKER_01]: The Red Skoll is right.
- 58:18[SPEAKER_01]: One morning, the world wakes up to telepathic messages from the red onslaught, a massive tentacle in a horned Nazi monster representing the very worst of humanity, uh, in like a shadow-kanger onslaught kind of form, and the red skull has never been scarier.
- 58:34[SPEAKER_01]: Magneto confronts him.
- 58:36[SPEAKER_01]: Behold, the legacy of your bloodlust magneto, in killing me, you have released all that stirred within me such glorious liberation,
- 58:44[SPEAKER_01]: I will finally see my world achieved.
- 58:47[SPEAKER_01]: The new Master Ace will tear down this world and draw forth the right eternal.
- 58:51[SPEAKER_01]: And there's something weird about Xavier and Magneto in the way that their brains interacted like when their rage combines it creates an onslaught.
- 58:59[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know exactly what the birth of the century is.
- 59:02[SPEAKER_01]: but it's awful.
- 59:03[SPEAKER_01]: So as the X-Men wake up in a mutant re-education cap on Geno.
- 59:06[SPEAKER_01]: So the Avengers launch a massive attack on this onslaught who taunts them with their insecurities and tries to release the darkness within them and tries to turn them to his side, exposing their secrets.
- 59:16[SPEAKER_01]: He soon launches stark centenals to fight at his side, because Iron Man built sentables apparently.
- 59:21[SPEAKER_01]: We see that later played up on Cracoa quite hugely.
- 59:25[SPEAKER_01]: And then Magneto shockingly recruits a group of supervillains in order to be able to fight against the Red Skull, Carnage, Hobgoblin, the Enchantress, Mystique, Jackalantern, the Absorbing Man, Saber Tooth, Deadpool.
- 59:36[SPEAKER_01]: Red Skull keeps renting eye, and the righteous anger of humanity taken form, the hatred of a people turned obsolete when gods meddled on their worlds and mutants polluted the gene pool.
- 59:47[SPEAKER_01]: I would break you.
- 59:48[SPEAKER_01]: And as the villains destroy the sentinals, the Enchantress casts a love spell on the Red Skull, and it almost works.
- 59:54[SPEAKER_01]: There's no room for you in my right guitar, or he says, as he breaks out of it, your mongros will die, but first you were suffer.
- 1:00:00[SPEAKER_01]: Now, fear the fury of the red onslaught, and then the Scarlet Witch and Dr. Doom cast a spell, and everyone gets inverted.
- 1:00:08[SPEAKER_01]: So they're all flopped around.
- 1:00:10[SPEAKER_01]: Think of all the stats on their cards in the RPG game, are now flap-iflipped around.
- 1:00:15[SPEAKER_01]: So the red skull is back in his human form pretty soon.
- 1:00:18[SPEAKER_01]: His skull's gonna turn white, and he's so penitent.
- 1:00:21[SPEAKER_01]: We see him in issue nine.
- 1:00:22[SPEAKER_01]: He's so sorry for everything he's done, but by the end he's changed back and ends up in Latvieria as the prisoner of Dr. Dube.
- 1:00:28[SPEAKER_01]: We're just gonna fast forward through all that.
- 1:00:30[SPEAKER_01]: Let me welcome one of my favorite friends, Rob Solerano to the show to talk to me about this crazy story.
- 1:00:35[SPEAKER_01]: Rob, hello, are you a red skull fan, my friend?
- 1:00:37[SPEAKER_01]: Are there red skull fans?
- 1:00:39[SPEAKER_00]: Is that a...
- 1:00:40[SPEAKER_00]: So why on question, I don't know.
- 1:00:45[SPEAKER_00]: I think I wouldn't say I'm a red skull fan.
- 1:00:48[SPEAKER_00]: I think red skull serves, he serves a really good purpose in the Marvel Universe as being like just an embodiment of pure evil.
- 1:00:55[SPEAKER_00]: He's,
- 1:00:55[SPEAKER_00]: Unfortunately, I think that also makes him kind of like limited in what you can do with him in a story and that's I think that's part of why Axis is a little bit is controversial Like it's part of why the whole uncanny adventures run is so controversial because he's the heart of everything that's at this story and it's it's sometimes it's just not that interesting to have
- 1:01:16[SPEAKER_00]: Villain's third hero's push up against a villain who's just pure evil where there's not really that that sense that, oh, this villain might be right, they might have a point like Magneto.
- 1:01:27[SPEAKER_00]: But I think there's definitely like there's fun stuff to do with the red skull, like he's definitely a fun villain to kick around because he is so so evil.
- 1:01:37[SPEAKER_00]: I think if I can think of like the only red skull story that I can like vividly remember
- 1:01:45[SPEAKER_00]: where Magneto just beats the shit out of them for, like, it's not sure if it's one issue or if it's two.
- 1:01:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, it's during the ex of vengeance and the past of the story, actually, we covered that in one of my conversations.
- 1:01:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:01:58[SPEAKER_01]: No, it's interesting, because the ex-men are always fighting against oppression, and, you know, it's an allegory of all of that consistently.
- 1:02:05[SPEAKER_01]: We see the concentration camps, days of future past style, on genosho, which is the place of the mutant extermination, under the guard of the sentinals,
- 1:02:14[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, human bigotry behind that.
- 1:02:16[SPEAKER_01]: It feels real enough.
- 1:02:17[SPEAKER_01]: But when you put the red skull behind it, it takes on a whole different kind of form.
- 1:02:22[SPEAKER_00]: You know, to me, it kind of feels like there was a period where there were a lot of these villains like the red skull, like Greg and Creed in the 90s.
- 1:02:32[SPEAKER_00]: Who were just like so cartoonishly evil and so over the top that you were like how like it's so far removed from the experiences We're having in day to day life.
- 1:02:42[SPEAKER_00]: What like actual racism is like what actual oppression is like that it felt like so removed But one thing that did like that has struck me a bit and revisiting some of these stories in the last couple of years is oh, no, these were actually pressure
- 1:02:55[SPEAKER_00]: This is what, this is where this is all going.
- 1:02:58[SPEAKER_00]: Because a lot of like, you know, when I think of like red skull rants, like it's literally just every time I see Steven Miller on Twitter, it's, it's, he's the red skull.
- 1:03:06[SPEAKER_00]: Like that is who he is.
- 1:03:08[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, sorry to get political here.
- 1:03:10[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, no, no, no, that's part of the conversation.
- 1:03:12[SPEAKER_00]: Of course, I mean, you can't not be political when a red skull conversation, but especially in 2026 apparently, but yeah, no, it's it's fascinating how this stuff that like I thought like even even what is access 10 15 years ago, God, that feels so old saying that.
- 1:03:30[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you're a little over a decade.
- 1:03:32[SPEAKER_00]: Even 10 years ago, this felt like cartoonishly over the top and now it feels like, oh no, this is this is how they work, this is how they do.
- 1:03:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's crazy.
- 1:03:40[SPEAKER_01]: What are your thoughts on the concept of onslaught versus red onslaught?
- 1:03:44[SPEAKER_01]: This the psychic rage, baby.
- 1:03:46[SPEAKER_00]: I consider onslaught and red onslaught to be to distinct entities.
- 1:03:52[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not entirely, I actually think red onslaught is just red skull.
- 1:03:58[SPEAKER_00]: There's some sort of like, it seems like they're trying to distinguish red skull and red onslaught as being different characters, but to me, they're functionally the same character in this story.
- 1:04:06[SPEAKER_00]: I look at it as just the red skull continuing to troll the mutants like he's like, oh, yeah.
- 1:04:12[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, you thought I was bad when I was Xavier.
- 1:04:14[SPEAKER_00]: Well, now I'm Xavier's dark side on top of being the red skull.
- 1:04:19[SPEAKER_00]: And like there is an element to this story where I think like the cartony elements of the red skull just trolling the X-Men actually work really well.
- 1:04:28[SPEAKER_00]: The concepts of like, oh, I'm going to dig up Xavier.
- 1:04:31[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to wear his brain like a hat.
- 1:04:33[SPEAKER_00]: And that's going to make me the most powerful Nazi in the world.
- 1:04:37[SPEAKER_00]: It's so cartoonishly over the top that I remember the time fandom being like, this is ridiculous and really kicking back against it.
- 1:04:45[SPEAKER_00]: I actually bought that was a funny bit.
- 1:04:47[SPEAKER_01]: There's he has the red skulls or excuse me, he has Xavier's brain for a while like it doesn't it doesn't get followed up on it for years later But we also have the go we also have the evil side of Xavier who shows up multiple stories across the years and then I haven't episode out on the patreon It'll come out on the main show later about the hate manga
- 1:05:05[SPEAKER_01]: which is like the literal essence of Adolf Hitler like floating around waiting to infect like white supremacists in their mind.
- 1:05:11[SPEAKER_01]: The Red School in more modern books has been given that treatment.
- 1:05:14[SPEAKER_01]: He's now this kind of like evil psychic entity floating around like almost like he's the shadow king and more recent interpretations.
- 1:05:21[SPEAKER_01]: It's a really scary version of this character that keeps coming back.
- 1:05:24[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I don't know if you have covered this or are planning to cover this, but like even the red skull with Xavier's brain on his head had been floating around a little bit in the background of Marvel universe and X-Men comics for wild.
- 1:05:36[SPEAKER_00]: To the point where it was like, well, why not the X-Men doing something about this?
- 1:05:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because it turns up in X-Men legacy, the Legion series, a little bit.
- 1:05:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, we will be talking about that in one of these chats right around when this comes up.
- 1:05:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:05:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, I forget where else he popped up, but like it was a thing that was in the background of the Marvel universe for a while, which was just like kind of one of those like, wow, you think the X-Men would be a little bit more annoying about this wild wild stories, but really fun character moments and yeah.
- 1:06:07[SPEAKER_01]: I know it's not everybody's favorite series and the inversion stories crazy because the mutants get big swings The genesis of apocalypse story that happens right after this when everyone turns evil and good A really crazy storyline, but really well written at the end of the day.
- 1:06:21[SPEAKER_00]: I have I've re-read Uncanny Avengers a couple of times
- 1:06:26[SPEAKER_00]: I read it when it first came out.
- 1:06:27[SPEAKER_00]: I think I gave it a full read when the full series finished, because I wanted to, that whole story is one like giant arc.
- 1:06:33[SPEAKER_00]: And then I read it again during the pandemic, but I don't think I got to access during that time.
- 1:06:39[SPEAKER_00]: Because what I remember of, of access, I wasn't as annoyed by the premise as, as I think I remember fandom being.
- 1:06:45[SPEAKER_00]: What I found kind of frustrating about this event was it felt like there were story telling glitches especially in the early chapters like it just sort of like starts the prelude issues that aren't part of the Access Hardcover that are in the Uncanny Avengers, but the Uncanny Avengers are just investigating something on genosha.
- 1:07:05[SPEAKER_00]: It seems like the red skull has captured Scott's team of X-Men off
- 1:07:09[SPEAKER_00]: panel somewhere.
- 1:07:10[SPEAKER_00]: There just seems to be these kind of lurking moments that don't tell you where the story is.
- 1:07:16[SPEAKER_00]: It's kind of right at the beginning.
- 1:07:18[SPEAKER_00]: And it's hard to know how much of that's editorial too.
- 1:07:20[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and it's going through, I mean, at least two different books because like part of it is in the Megmido on going series.
- 1:07:28[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know how much bendus was aware of where the story was going to be.
- 1:07:31[SPEAKER_00]: This is like like Ben this is also talked about this came up in secret wars when his uncanny X-Men book ended there's like a whole the secret wars crossover where Cyclops has a Phoenix egg that he was that it Apparently this was supposed to be a plotline developed in Ben this is book but Ben this wasn't told that he was supposed to do this
- 1:07:49[SPEAKER_01]: You can hear some of Robin A's thoughts on this in the trial of Alexander Summers on my show.
- 1:07:55[SPEAKER_01]: Back when we talked about some of these storylines as well.
- 1:07:58[SPEAKER_01]: Now, I open today with the idea of the death's head guards.
- 1:08:02[SPEAKER_01]: And it's wild to me that we have such a prominent Marvel character named Death's Head when you learn about the history of that fucking name.
- 1:08:08[SPEAKER_01]: But what were your thoughts on some of the comparison?
- 1:08:10[SPEAKER_01]: And when we look at like the Stark Sentinels, we look at the concentration camp guards, and we draw a comparison between them.
- 1:08:15[SPEAKER_01]: It's a rough to look at history, and then we pull in ice, you know?
- 1:08:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, see, this is, I think, one of the things that I also find a little bit frustrating with this story is we get, we are told that he's term genotia into a concentration camp, and I'm not really sure what that's supposed
- 1:08:32[SPEAKER_00]: in this story, like not to be, like, you know, obtuse about it, but the only people who are at creation camp appear to be, like, Cyclops and Quentin Choir, which doesn't scream concentration camp to me.
- 1:08:44[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, like, to what extent the red skull has actually, like, infiltrated the rest of the world in terms of bringing, like, capturing mutants.
- 1:08:53[SPEAKER_00]: This is, this is stuff that will be, like, I think, better handled when we get to, like, orchest doing this sort of
- 1:08:57[SPEAKER_01]: Right, and a lot of this history plays out in the alternate timeline, right?
- 1:09:01[SPEAKER_01]: Well, if you remember the apocalypse twin story where the mutants form their own planet, a lot of the stuff of like, this is what the Red Skull would have done.
- 1:09:08[SPEAKER_01]: And that's where like havoc in the wasp get married and have baby Katie and she gets lost to the timeline.
- 1:09:12[SPEAKER_01]: So a lot of that story, which we won't cover in these chats is like the alternate future where the Red Skull stuff went way worse.
- 1:09:18[SPEAKER_01]: You know, this is the working where things went a lot better.
- 1:09:21[SPEAKER_01]: I'm kind of asking all my guests though, just kind of as a concluding thought, how you doing in 2026.
- 1:09:26[SPEAKER_01]: When we look at the world around us and we learn from history and we examine our comics, it starts to get kind of uncomfortable.
- 1:09:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, like, look, I personally, like, I feel like I'm in a bit of a split in the isolation in California.
- 1:09:39[SPEAKER_00]: I live in Los Angeles.
- 1:09:41[SPEAKER_00]: I have a certain amount of pressure in how I walk through the world.
- 1:09:47[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, like things did change for me.
- 1:09:48[SPEAKER_00]: Like I became a citizen of the US last year.
- 1:09:52[SPEAKER_00]: I'm originally from Canada.
- 1:09:54[SPEAKER_00]: I've, you know, listeners didn't know that about me.
- 1:09:57[SPEAKER_00]: I am a graded here 10 years ago and I've been living here legally as a permanent resident.
- 1:10:02[SPEAKER_00]: But I really,
- 1:10:04[SPEAKER_00]: started to feel, um, I felt like I was unsafe or insecure, unless I until I became a citizen.
- 1:10:10[SPEAKER_00]: So, like, that is something that, um, that did affect me in a way last year.
- 1:10:15[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I mean, like, the flip side of that is I was able to become a citizen.
- 1:10:19[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, I, I understand that there's, there's a privilege that came with that, too.
- 1:10:23[SPEAKER_00]: But, um, you know, like,
- 1:10:25[SPEAKER_00]: Right now, we're seeing these terrible headlines coming every day, happening in America, but also like, you know, it's happening all over the world.
- 1:10:34[SPEAKER_00]: We're seeing more and more what felt like progress going into retreat.
- 1:10:38[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's important that, you know, we, we stay vigilant.
- 1:10:42[SPEAKER_00]: We do what we can to fight back.
- 1:10:44[SPEAKER_00]: We stay positive.
- 1:10:45[SPEAKER_00]: And, and we, we remember that, you know, we have to, we have to fight.
- 1:10:51[SPEAKER_00]: We have to protect each other in ourselves.
- 1:10:53[SPEAKER_01]: So as a reminder, everybody take care of yourselves, live joyfully as much as you can.
- 1:10:57[SPEAKER_01]: That's the best active defiance these days, but stay informed, stay smart, and take care of yourself.
- 1:11:02[SPEAKER_01]: Probably it's always great to see you.
- 1:11:03[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for your wise and sage thoughts.
- 1:11:05[SPEAKER_01]: I appreciate hanging out with you every time my friend.
- 1:11:08[SPEAKER_01]: All right, everybody, we'll see you back here next week for another Red Skull Chat.
