Transcript
- 0:02Welcome to Bible Chat where we have devotional conversations
- 0:06rooted in Scripture and relevant for today, April 22nd.
- 0:11Fearless and free. Fear can make life feel smaller.
- 0:15It can make you hide, overthink, compare, or believe you will
- 0:18never really change. But Proverbs chapter 14 verses
- 0:2326 to 27 says in the fear of the Lord one has strong confidence,
- 0:28and the fear of the Lord is a fountain of life.
- 0:30That kind of fear is not terror, it is reverence.
- 0:34It is deep respect, trust, and all before the God who is holy,
- 0:38loving and strong. Romans chapter 6 verse 6 says
- 0:42that our old self was crucified with Christ so that we would no
- 0:46longer be enslaved to sin. That means your past does not
- 0:49have the final word. Your old patterns do not own
- 0:53you. The shame you carry does not get
- 0:55to define you. In Jesus, freedom is not just an
- 0:58idea, it is a new reality. Sin and fear often whisper the
- 1:02same lie. You are stuck.
- 1:04You cannot change. This is just who you are.
- 1:07But the cross tells a better story.
- 1:09Jesus did not die and rise again so you could remain chained to
- 1:13the same darkness. He came to make you free.
- 1:16Following God does not mean life becomes easy overnight.
- 1:20You may still feel pressure, temptation, stress and self
- 1:23doubt, but now you have a refuge, you have a place to run,
- 1:28you have a Savior who gives strength when you feel weak.
- 1:30So walk today with confidence, not because you are in control,
- 1:34but because God is. Honor him, trust Him, run to
- 1:37Him. The fear of the Lord does not
- 1:40trap you, it frees you to live with courage.
- 1:43Let's pray. Heavenly Father, thank you for
- 1:45being my refuge and strength. Help me live in holy awe of you,
- 1:50not in fear of my past or my weaknesses.
- 1:53Remind me that in Christ I am no longer a slave to sin.
- 1:56Teach me to walk in freedom, confidence and trust today in

- 3:04Now I invite you to spend time with God in today's three-year
- 3:07Bible reading plan. Proverbs chapter 14, verses 26
- 3:13to 27 World English Bible in the fear of Yahweh is a secure
- 3:17fortress, and he will be a refuge for his children.
- 3:21The fear of Yahweh is a fountain of life, turning people from the
- 3:24snares of death. Romans chapter 6 World English
- 3:28Bible What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that
- 3:32grace may abound? May it never be we who died to
- 3:36sin. How could we live in it any
- 3:37longer? Or don't you know that all of us
- 3:39who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his
- 3:43death? We were buried, therefore, with
- 3:45him through baptism into death. That just as Christ was raised
- 3:49from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might
- 3:52walk in newness of life. For if we have become united
- 3:56with Him in the likeness of his death, we will also be part of
- 3:59his resurrection. Knowing this, that our old man
- 4:03was crucified with him, that the body of sin might be done away
- 4:07with so that we would no longer be in bondage to sin.
- 4:11For he who has died has been freed from sin.
- 4:14But if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live
- 4:17with him, knowing that Christ, being raised from the dead, dies
- 4:20no more death, no longer has dominion over him.
- 4:24For the death that he died, He died to sin one time, but the
- 4:28life that he lives, he lives to God.
- 4:31Thus consider yourselves also to be dead to sin, but alive to God
- 4:35in Christ Jesus our Lord. Therefore don't let sin reign in
- 4:38your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts.
- 4:42Also, do not present your members to sin as instruments of
- 4:46unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as alive from
- 4:49the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to
- 4:52God. For sin will not have dominion
- 4:55over you, for you are not under law, but under grace.
- 4:59What then? Shall we sin because we are not
- 5:01under law, but under grace? May it never be.
- 5:05Don't you know that when you present yourselves as servants
- 5:07and obey someone, you are the servants of whomever you obey,
- 5:11whether of sin to death, or of obedience to righteousness?
- 5:15But thanks be to God that whereas you were bond servants
- 5:18of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of
- 5:21teaching to which you were delivered.
- 5:24Being made free from sin, you became bond servants of
- 5:27righteousness. I speak in human terms because
- 5:31of the weakness of your flesh. For as you presented your
- 5:33members as servants to uncleanness and to wickedness
- 5:37upon wickedness, Even so now present your members as servants
- 5:41to righteousness for sanctification.
- 5:45For when you were servants of sin, you were free from
- 5:47righteousness. What fruit then did you have at
- 5:49that time in the things of which you are now ashamed?
- 5:52For the end of those things is death.
- 5:55But now, being made free from sin, and having become servants
- 5:59of God, you have your fruit of sanctification, and the result
- 6:02of eternal life. For the wages of sin is death,
- 6:06but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our
- 6:10Lord. Thanks for joining us on Bible
