- Casey: Hey y'all, hey listeners, hey watchers, welcome back to the mention it all again pod. I'm your girl Casey, and I'm here with, as always. Blake: Her co-host, Blake. I just I was noticing while the intro music was playing. I feel like tell me if this is not what you were thinking, but I feel like your face looks like you're like in deep admiration of the edit that you made for the intro. Casey: Kinda was. Blake: And that's how I always am when we play. I'm just like watching and I'm like, you really you really did like your big one with this. Like it's just it's so on point with the music. And I also love spotting a clip from like an episode we're gonna talk about. And there was a clip from Scary Island, which is what we're gonna talk about today. Yep. I said that. Scary. Casey: my god, I'm about to start crying. This w this was not in pre-production planning. That caught me so off guard. Blake: No. No. No, because how how am I gonna introduce Scary Island without a scary sound? Because it's you really you really were like taken aback. Casey: Yeah, that was terrifying. I cry every episode. I was. I was like, what is she doing? Blake: It's like for s such various reasons too. Like it really depends. Casey: Every single time I know. But yeah, I really was admiring the edit. Honestly, like my parents say this to me all the time. They're like, you really like enjoy yourself. And I'm like, I really do. Blake: Yeah. Casey: And it's so true. Like, I look Blake: Mm. Casey: at things that I made or like jokes that I made, and I'm like, wow, I'm so jealous of the people that get to experience this. Blake: You're like For the first time, like raw, unfiltered, like 'cause you kind of like your brain spoils it 'cause by the time it comes out you've already thought about it. But like imagine Casey: Right. Right. It's not the same thing as like seeing something. It's the same I see things that I think are funny from other people and I'm like, wow. What that's a good one. Blake: Like wow, what a treat. What a treat. I wish I could like we could like switch bodies for like a day so you could just go on Instagram and see your posts and like not know but then Casey: I know. I try to go through sometimes and I'm like, imagine I'm someone else viewing them, and I'm like, wow, those are good. Blake: And you still laugh. You still enjoy yourself. You you still are you're still entertaining yourself. So I feel like you've practiced. Casey: For sure. No, and I do I do have a clip of Kelly from Scary Island in this intro edit. If you're not watching, I have the or if you're yeah, if you're not watching, I have the one of her, she's on the phone talking to Jill. We'll we'll talk more about it soon. But she is mimicking a stabbing motion, talking about Bethany's talking about dear dearest Bethany. yeah I mean without further ado, we might as well dive into it. Yeah. Blake: Talking about Yeah, let's just let's just get into it. I I'm like I'm jumping out of my seat. Casey: Well, we are taking our journeys to Scary Island, just focusing on the three main episodes of Scary Island, which I think it's forgotten about because everyone thinks about like the one dinner scene which happens in season three, episode twelve, but episode eleven is a sneaker a sneaky hit. And episode thirteen Blake: Heh heh. Casey: has some content as well. So we're talking about those ones. If if you need to relive or if you wanna go fact check us. That's where we'll be today. Blake: I I feel like you need the like sandwich, like the context. Because I feel like whenever there's like one episode in Housewives of like, this thing happened, you need to know what was going on right before and then like the aftermath, because there's always bitches talking about it, and there's always like some some schemery afoot, like the episode before, and like obviously watching this back. like you can't watch just episode twelve without seeing like what these women were up to and like the dynamics of this season especially are very important and that stuff Casey: Yes. Blake: is like building up as they're heading out to the trip and then as they return. so Casey: Right, it's actually very reminiscent of a of a life quote. it's not about the destination, it's about the journey. In this case it's about both. Cause the journey there is actually Blake: It's about the journey. And in this case the destination is Casey: crazy. The journey there, I'll say it, might be crazier than their actual time on the island. No, it's it's not. It's not. Blake: I was gagged. I was like, Did you see something I missed? Casey: But it's close. It's close. The the boat ride there is fun. Like when they're when they're going there, it's yes. Cause like the they take a yacht Blake: you mean on the yacht? okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. No no that is true. That is true. Casey: to the island that they ultimately like stay on overnight, which is where they have the dinner and where Jill shows up to like surprise them. So the the journey there is is wild. Blake: It starts to get a little wack-a-doodle. and I do think that just a a really fun fact for everyone is that Scary Island is not called Scary Island. It's actually the US Virgin Islands. I genuinely did not know that. Not that you need to, but it was just like a really Casey: I know. I thought the same thing. I was like, I guess in all this time I've never once stopped to to really wonder like where they actually were. To me it was just they were on scary island, like Blake: like what island and honestly they are. Forget that I even said the US Virgin Islands. I forgot that I said it. So they're on the territory of Scary Island. And Casey: Yes. Blake: we start we start this whole trip with well start I guess like preview the trip. So Casey: Yeah. Blake: it's Ramona's like technically her bachelorette party because she's renewing her vows with Mario, which I should play that scary song again. She's renewing her vows, which never goes well on this show. and the or the organ music Casey: That scary song in its point one second sl the song. Blake: that beautiful scary song. so like she's orchestrating the trip, but you have to also keep in mind that like they're that This is also the season that Bethany and Jill are like heavy, falling out, like not cool. So the divisions in the group kind of like run on like whose side are you on? So Luann, KKB, Kelly Kalor and Ben Simone, and Jill are kind of all like on one side, one team. And then Ramona, I would say, like, rides the fence, but I would say ultimately, like, is taking this as an opportunity to like assert her dominance against Jill. So she's she is sort of like on the other side along with Alex, McCord, yay, Sonia, Bethany, and yeah, and those that's that's the division. So Luann is not going on this trip. Neither is Jill. Jill allegedly could not make it for some scheduling reason that evades me at the moment. And Luann does not want to be around Ramona and the other women. Casey: And it's it's Victoria's birthday too, at home. Which like we know she doesn't care about Victoria's birthday, so so we Blake: I think no, she doesn't want to be around Alex. And it's Victoria's birthday, yeah. But she's just kind of like she Right, right. She I'm sure she's gone on vacation when it's been Victoria's birthday before. Like, please. Casey: Like, okay, Luann, whatever. But this is a huge loss for for Kelly going into this trip. Like she I'm not a betting I'm not a better. I don't know betting odds. I don't know why I chose this metaphor, but her odds are bad is what I mean to say going into this trip. Blake: She I mean, she like i it is I don't remember I didn't write this down. I don't know if you wrote this down or if there's even a reason. But I don't know why she chose to go on this trip knowing that she like is not on that team and doesn't really like those women that much. Specifically Bethany, obviously, but like generally speaking. Casey: Well they say that too. Like Luann is like, I don't really get why she's going. Like Luann at home, like in like whatever scene they give her to talk about why she's not going, it's like, yeah, Kelly's Kelly's gonna have a tough time. Like it's not it's not Blake: Yeah. Casey: gonna be a great trip for Kelly. So like it was never Blake: They were like Casey: presumed that it was gonna be a a smooth ride, but Kelly is fearless and she is limitless. Blake: Kelly is truly unburdened by fear. She she possesses an almost air-like quality of her where she can just kind of drift through life Casey: Yeah. Blake: without really feeling weighed down by anything. It's really so, you know, it's a very fascinating thing to see play out in somebody. Casey: I'm sorry. I love her so much. I feel like she's kind of a polarizing housewife. Like I feel like people don't really love her the way that I love her. I Blake: It's Casey: think she's incredible. And e for this alone, like She went into this battlefield 1v700. Like this this was David vs Goliath, but like 10 Goliaths, like because Bethany isn't even just one alone, but all of them were on ten against her. Right. And Blake: She's also pregnant, so that's like two Yeah. Casey: she she just she does it effortlessly and with ease. Blake: No. Casey: I mean maybe not with ease, but with difficulty. Blake: I mean, she she definitely holds her own for quite some time. We can put it that way. so she just she decides to go on the trip. No one else is going on the trip. and the another another piece of context, as I mentioned, Bethany is pregnant. She's emotional, she's she's she's going on the trip, jaw in toe. This is pre-hermasseter Botox that fixed her jaw. she also apparently just like had buried her father. She's just like a wreck at at this point. Like she's an emotional wreck and she's pregnant meaning she cannot the Jill thing is happening and Casey: Right, the Jill thing's happening as well. Blake: she's pregnant meaning she cannot drink alcohol. So she's also going on this trip sober, which I think is another important thing to keep in mind. Casey: Another thing I forgot completely about, like on this rewatch when they said pregnant, I was like, my god. That is Blake: I know. I forgot about that too. Casey: terrible. And honestly, like even though as I just said, like I'm I'm backing KKB on this road, but knowing that is like, wow, Kelly, you were really testing her. Like Bethany was going through like biblical trial level trials on this trip. Blake: Ha ha ha Casey: Pregnant, sober, dealing with insane Kelly Bensimon, surrounded Blake: Dead father Casey: by Sonia, Ramona. Blake: Literally like Bethany's surrounded by people that she just truly does not like. But like because of Kelly and her whatever you want to call her particular affliction, she like has to find something to like about the other women because they're like in an alliance together. Casey: Right. Like her and Alex get along well. I would say, like, genuinely well, Bethany and Alex. Like Blake: That's true. That's true. Casey: they have each other's backs and are probably the more sane of the whole group, like that's present on Scary Island. So they have to hold down the sanity. But yeah, dad dead, friend lost and racist. Baby in womb. Alcohol not in system. That's my personal nightmare. Blake: Jaw in toe. Jawin toe. Casey: Asylum Escapee present. Blake: And And you have to you also have to remember that like I think right before this episode, or it was the episode before, like that this is also the season where Alex took it upon herself to deliver a message to Jill That Bethany doesn't want to be friends and in doing so ruined her friendship with Jill. So like Casey: Dude, she pisses me off so bad that scene. I'm sorry, Jill sucks, but that was crazy. we'll get to that's not even the point. Blake: I mean, I just was li it's not even what we're talking about, it's just that's just yeah. So so we begin, the the women arrive, the women arrive well, they're driving to the yacht, and and in the car, you know, we get the famous line that Kelly loves her jelly beans and her gummy bears, and she's kind of this is just like her we're getting like a real sense of like how this trip is starting. Like she's just kind of in La La Land talking about gummy beans and jelly beans, gummy worms and jelly beans, but She says this right after she just said she doesn't eat processed food. Like she's going on like a whole thing about how she's so healthy, and then the next sentence is like, I'm obsessed with gummy bears jelly beans, and there's like and Bethany's like, you know like gummy bears don't grow on the vine. Like that's not a fruit. Casey: She's like, I love a gummy. Like right after this. And they're all kind of like, yeah, girl, whatever. Ugh. Blake: They're like, sure, that's kind of exactly like that's all you need to know about Kelly Ben Simone. I don't eat processed Casey: She's everything. Blake: foods and then sh I'm obsessed with gummy bears. Like, okay, whatever. Sure. Casey: Right. And then they board the boat that we that was aforementioned in in our intro. and this boat ride is it has bedrooms. I can't tell if like they actually s I think they spend a night on this boat traveling to the US Virgin Islands. I can't recall if it if they span the night. Yeah, it's but they're on the boat for a Blake: I do they they do, yeah, they do. 'Cause they I think they docked. Casey: minute. Blake: Yeah. They docked to go out and dance and have fun and then I think they slept and then Casey: Yes. Blake: the next morning they came. So it was like a night, I'm pretty sure. Casey: So true. That's so true. So yeah, they they board this boat and things are, you know, this is the best that thinks are gonna be right at the beginning, because it only descends further further into madness, and they are kind of chatting. They chat a lot about Bethany's dad's passing because it like literally just happened. So they're trying to be there for her. Bethany is trying to get get some things out, but it comes up amongst the group that Ramona Told Jill that Bethany's father died. Like basically being like, I think she should know, even though you guys aren't in a good place. Like, if I were her, I would want to know that about you, even if like we weren't in a good spot at that time. Like good, well-intentioned to tell Jill, not necessarily a bad thing. and Jill texts Alex after receiving this information and it's like, Did you hear? Like, did you hear that Bethany's father passed? And this is a big issue for Alex, for basically everybody except Kelly in the room, everyone's not happy with this move by Jill. Blake: Well, because Jill like yeah, so she's obviously texting Alex and Jill's whole thing at this like her her whole vibe at this point is like she's the mean girl, the head of the group, and she is always kind of like getting involved in things that don't involve her, like she always wants information. So like Alex said she thought it was weird because it clearly seemed like she was digging for information and it it also was like, you know, y You don't really get to go around like asking and talking about this anymore because you've made it clear you don't want to be friends at Bethany. Mem remember, Bethany tried to kind Casey: Right. Blake: of patch things up with her and she was like, I'm not interested. So, like, i it it does feel a little bit like invasive on her part. And Kelly just does not want to hear any kind of talk about this. And I I will say, like, it's it's very lightly talking shit about Jill. I wouldn't say it's talking shit, but it's gossiping. But like it's nothing crazy, but but Kelly's obviously uncomfortable. And so she kind of just starts like like just starts like being like guys like stop, I don't wanna hear this, whatever. And they're like, Well, you know, like this I don't know, we're gonna talk about it. Whatever. Like you we're not we're not trying to be like this is just what happened. And also it's like about her dad and Kelly i she's such a wordsmith. She says that they're making lemons into lemonade, meaning that they're making something small into something bigger than what it is, which obviously is not the phrase and Bethany reminds her of that, that that's not the expression. and it's like that's just like that's where we're getting s that's where we're starting off, is like they're immediately just kind of like, what are you saying? Like she's not really able to articulate well that like she just wants to have fun Casey: There's Blake: with them. Casey: there's like a disease called I remember learning it when I took psychology. It's like In your brain there's like an area called like Wernicke's area and then some other area that I can't remember, but they basically control like language. And so some people, if their brain gets messed up, like what they think doesn't come out as what they say. Like it's almost like there are like wires that are Blake: Interesting. Casey: disconnected in her brain of like she's so close to a lot of expressions a lot of the time, but like not quite right. Or like she says something Blake: Yeah. Casey: like also on this boat ride, she at one point is just kind of like While they're arguing, she just bursts out into, Okay, satchels of gold And they're all like, What are we talking about? Like what like where are these satchels? Like how is that relevant to the combo? And it's like, maybe in her head she thought she said, like, actually Bethany, I'd like to refute that point. Like maybe that's what it sounds like. But it but Blake: Ha ha ha ha. Casey: it comes out of her mouth as, Okay, satchels of gold like Blake: I like, you know, I I'm a hundred percent pro diagnosing people on this podcast. And whatever disease that is that you just described, I would like to believe that that's what it is because there's there's just something. Like she just does not speak the words that she wants to say do not come out of her mouth correctly. and so they're kind of just like Kelly, they're just like refusing to back down because they're just like, you know. We're not talking shit. I feel like again, it was light shit. They're also just talking about their feelings, whatever. And so Kelly gets up and leaves and she goes like She's like, You girls can and and they can enjoy their banter and vile behavior. And she's like, You guys are sick and demented Like she escalates she escalates it so quick from like what they were really saying about Jill, which is not like Jill sucks and we want to kill her. It was literally like sh I thought it was weird and she just immediately is like, You guys are vile and demented And Casey: It's so funny. The escalation is so good. And then like she's kind of just like sauntering away after dropping like several intense insults Blake: Ha ha ha. Casey: on the entire group of women. And Ramona's like, we are not demented. Blake: So then they're like, okay, just let her go. Like let her go. Like let her just kind of have a moment. Like we we don't know what's going on. We don't want to touch that. So she goes she leaves and cools down for like, it seems like one minute, like 60 seconds. And then she comes back. She's like, I'm back. I just needed like a second. They're like, okay, cool, like, fine, no one's mad. And she like immediately is like trying to shift her tone. But like she I feel like she doesn't get these women, is the what it comes down to as well. Like, she doesn't know how to talk to any of them because I just don't think that like they are There's you know those people you meet and it's just like we are literally like I don't even I feel like everything I say to you, you're not like taking the way that I mean. Like that's supposed to be funny, you're not laughing. I feel like I said that and it's like supposed to be like, you know, I'm waiting for you to say something and the person's like, okay. Like you there's just like we're not gonna like have a conversation here. Like I feel like Casey: Yeah. Another diagnosis we could throw onto the pile is perhaps a drop of autism in Miss Bensimone. Like maybe she like isn't understanding how her words are coming across to them, like because of Blake: Mm. Casey: like social code, you know? Blake: I could see that as well. I could see that as well. Let's just let's go with both. How about that? Let's just diagnose let's keep thinking. Let's Casey: Let's just keep let's just keep adding more and see see what we c more we can create. Be like one like super one super issue. Like they all combine into one. That's beautiful. Blake: So the women are like pregaming to like they dock, they're pre-gaming, they're they're gonna go on land and have have fun land activities for the evening. and so now it's like Kelly, Bethany, and Sonia who are who are well Sonia's definitely drinking. The other two I'm not quite sure. Bethany's definitely not, hopefully, with the with the baby in the oven. But like, so this is what I mean by she try she's trying a different tact. So she's not trying to be con confrontational anymore, but now she's trying to therapise Bethany, who's kind of just going on about like how her dad wasn't the dad that like she wanted and didn't treat her well, and it's kind of like a bittersweet feeling that he's dead or whatever. And she's like trying to get Bethany to accept her dad for who he was and like the experience that like she had with him. Which isn't I wouldn't even say that's necessarily like a bad thing to do. Like I feel like I can see where she was coming from, but it did feel like she was not being super sensitive to what Bethany was saying. So Bethany Casey: Right. Blake: wasn't taking it as like friendly advice. Also, they're just not close. Casey: Right, I was just gonna say, I think it's like the difference between like if Kelly w wasn't there. I mean, at the end of the day, like you can dispute like all of the housewives' levels of closeness with each other, like if they're like actually friends or not. But I think if Kelly wasn't there, this really would have been a trip where Bethany felt like she was like with her friends and like could have been very safe to talk about like what she was going through and like it wouldn't have been a big deal to be like Kind of ruining the vacation vibe. But since her and Kelly are coworkers at best, like if not maybe Blake: Ha ha ha. Casey: light enemies, like Kelly has no patience for her talking about her dad because she's on vacation. She's annoyed Blake: Yeah. Casey: by it. She's can we move on? Like can we she comes out with shots like while they're about to like go out and tries to have them and they're like dark. They look like pomegranate juice. I don't know what was in them. Maybe they were shots of like red wine with what Kelly Blake: Mm-hmm. Casey: was the energy she was bringing. But they like sit there completely un unshot because Bethany's like having this moment. So Kelly is just not in the mood for it. And like so I kind of get that, but I also get Bethany like I understand thinking like, let me go because most of these people are my friends and like they'll be there for me as the other women are are being. Like Alex and Ramona and Sonia all are being very empathetic and are listening to her and like, you know, being good friends and Kelly is just not because they're not friends. So it's like kind of like Blake: Yeah. Casey: fair enough. Blake: It's fair, it's completely understandable. I think also if we're like trying to examine Kelly's brain, like she fundamentally I don't know w if it's like sweeping things under the rug or if it's just like a a a way that she views things, but like she Casey: Yeah. Blake: thinks that Bethany's like steeping herself in negativity over it and she's Casey: Yes. Blake: like, try to find the positive, like let's move on, which again, probably if like they liked each other would come across differently. but then so like the the conversation turns from like That to something more fun. Bethany's like, let's stop talking about this and talk about something fun. So they're like trying to convince Kelly to have like a one-night stand. And because they were like, Sonia was like, Yeah, I've had one night stands, and Bethany was like, I've definitely had one night stands, and Kelly was like, ew, like I would, ew, I would never. And then she like she's like, if you had it like this, you wouldn't give it away. She says that to both of them, and she kind of like stands up. And like reveals her like tall model body and it I'm like what? Like is I is the implication that they're like ugly or like r run ran through, like ha I don't Casey: think both. I think it's both. I think legitimately she's saying, yeah, you guys just don't even have a need to not be ran through because you look like that. Like, so I can't blame you. Like Blake: Yeah she's like I'm not giving this cookie away. Like not not for one night. Casey: Like she's literally like, I live a very different life from you. Like, we are not living the same ball game. And this like spirals into Sonia, like probably already wasted, like being a little bit like insecure and like having a little bit of self-esteem issues, like about her body. So again, it kind of turns back into like a bonding moment of like and like yeah, to be fair, I was watching this, I was like, God, they really can't stop. Trauma dumping on each other. It gets fun for like thirty seconds and now we're back to Sonia being like, My body and I like feel bad about myself. Like, Blake: No, like this is Bethany's trying to like help Sonya get through her like, you know, drunken sadness or whatever. And Kelly, like, t says to Bethany, she's like, Why do you have to be a victim or a survivor? Like, just enjoy your life. And she's kind of like, now we're getting into the territory of like, I think before she was trying to help. Now she's sort of just trying to in like not trying, but she is invalidating exactly like what they're talking about. And I feel like I feel like at this point she should have just been like, I'm bored, I'm gonna go somewhere else rather than sit there and be like she Casey: Right. She's clearly over it. Like she does not want to keep talking about any of this. She's bothered by them not wanting to have fun. Like she's she's done with the matter. And this is when she kind of like Blake: So sh she's done with the matter. Casey: her patience is has worn too thin and she basically just kind of moves on to to fully insulting them. So it takes a turn here and and Kelly starts to get a little nasty with it. It's creepy. Blake: It's creepy. And it so I think this is important because this is when bet when Kelly decides that for whatever reason she's like scared of Bethany. This is when she decides that like there's something about Bethany that like genuinely makes her fearful. Like the creepy Casey: Yes. Blake: the use of the word creepy is not just a random word. Like she starts to genuinely I again I think there's like this weird disconnect. between the two of them. Maybe it's that Kelly feels like maybe Kelly can't like move past like the fact that they've had like such a contentious history. And you know, some people can sort of just be cordial. I don't think she has the capability of being cordial. I think all of the like past weirdness and tension like weighs with her. And so I think that like everything Bethany says is like said with the weight of like we're actively fighting, even though I think Bethany at first was like I don't have that's not what I'm trying to do here, but then it like obviously escalates because Kelly decides to start calling her like creepy and you're not a you're Casey: Right. Blake: not a chef, you're a cook. and she's like st Casey: That's such a good point though, because like from a let's say we were let's let's go to English lit class real quick. And if we analyze the word choices and Blake: Yeah. Casey: the imagery that Kelly Kelly evokes regarding Bethany, starting from here at the beginning of the trip, going going throughout this trip, Blake: Ha ha ha. Casey: it it is it's creepy. It's killer, it's stabs, it's jokes. Blake: It's killer, like stabbing, nightmares, like it's murder, like we're getting Casey: It's I'm throwing I was throwing up over it. Like it is literally like we are Blake: She Casey: we're reaching a place. Blake: something turns, like where she's just like, this is like a demonic entity in a pregnant woman's body, and I need to get off this boat. So this is honestly. she she also just takes this opportunity to call Bethany a hobag because Bethany was trying to get her to have a one-night stand, which I just think is hilarious to say to someone who's like actively pregnant. Like Casey: Like, whatever, Bethany, you're a whole bag. I kind of love Blake: like Casey: insult choices like that though, because for me it will always land more than like slut or like bitch or something, just you know, a c nothing wrong with the classics, but I do love like a s Blake: You've right. Casey: a silly one in there. Like Hobag is great, you know, like if someone ever calls someone like what's another thing that's similar? Like right, an asshat, like Blake: A dickhead. Yeah, like ones where it's like it's like p schoolyard insults. I 'cause I feel like it's fresh. It's fresh. Casey: Right, like that's kinda fun. I guess we I guess we have a trend. We like compound compound nouns. Is that what they're called? Yeah. like peanut is a compound noun. Cause it's a pea Blake: Mm mm, like Casey: and a nut. Blake: with the d okay, interesting. I honestly had no idea. Casey: Whole bag. Whole bag. Dick head. Blake: As hat Casey: Yeah. Well, you learn something new at this podcast every week, Blake: I actually have never loved Ramona more in my life because like as this is like getting weird and like tense, she she's been out she's been drinking this whole time. She runs Casey: Yeah. Blake: in and she's like, Who wants to go to the yacht next door? And she has like a glass of Pinot in her hand and like Bethany Bethany says, like, you know, I I'm like over here at like a circus funhouse, but like Ramona is in like a different fucking world. She's had like forty-six Pinot's since lunch. Like she's having a fucking great time. And I again I have to say, like Like Bethany has to be sober for this. Like I think if Bethany was like having some wine, she probably wouldn't be as like what the fuck? But she has to literally be fully sober for this like crack show that's going on. So Casey: Right, sober and pregnant. So like she probably also like to an extent feels like shit, like is tired, is you know, like hungry, like all all the things that come with being pregnant. So it's not even like she's sober and feeling good, like sober, like living, like feeling refreshed. Like no, she is not Blake: Yeah Casey: having a nice time. Like this again, dad dead, like there's there's a lot going on. Blake: Yeah, she's not this isn't like a post rehab. So they they go to like the Hooters boat next door. awesome. I love that. They're going to the Casey: Great. Blake: Hooters boat, and Ramona is like flirting with the captain of the Hooters boat. she's like sh I think they like kiss on the lips briefly. The guy's like really, really hitting on her. And she's like, I'm renewing my vows. Casey: Right. She gets like really close to his face at one point, like no they're t like nose to nose, and she's like, I'm hot for my husband or like something like she's being a weirdo, like, talk about a whole bag. Like I found the whole Blake: Ha ha ha Casey: bag and Bethany and Sonia come over first and Or maybe it's Bethany and Alex first. I don't know. Bethany gets there before Kelly. Like they like kind of separate for a moment before like as they all come over to the Hoot Hooters boat. And it's so funny because Bethany's, you know, sitting there with Ramona and the Hooters men. And when Kelly walks onto that boat, you can see just the pure image of fear on Bethany's face. And like I guess Blake: Ha ha ha. Casey: fair enough at this point. But she yeah, she's terrified of Kelly as well. It's maybe it's just what she's gonna say. It doesn't even have to like her, but you can just tell at this point it is a live like fuse. Like Kelly could continuously explode at any moment. So when she walks off to the boat, I'm like, my. The the energy assaulted Bethany right away. Yeah. Blake: She's the the the energy bit her. Like she's cause I think at this point she's like I don't know what to make of Kelly. Like she's unpredictable. She's gonna just say Casey: Right. Blake: something at any like I don't know what her what's going on with her. So So like they like tell Ramona. Ramona like scolds Kelly. She's like, everyone, like get along. Like, can't we just have peace? Like she doesn't want to deal with it. Which like yeah, like it's your fucking Second bachelorette party you're ever gonna the Casey: Right. Blake: last one you're gonna get in your life probably. Well, I don't know. Maybe she'll get married again, I don't know. Casey: The second w the second one you'll get. And then she could have more. But yeah, so like they, you know, it's like a tentative truce for the moment, but it's like obviously weird because when they get off the Hooter patrol boat, Ramona, Bethany, and Alex go out to the bar and Sonia gets stuck with Kelly at home, as she does. Blake: I didn't know that Turtle Time comes from the place they were dancing at, the club being called the Fat Turtle. That is actually like 'cause I've I've wondered forever, like Ramona has never had like a weird autistic interest in turtles. Like where does turtle come from? I was like is like her favorite Pinot Grigio called Turtle somet Turtle Time, Turtle Something. It's literally just named after the place they went dancing in that clip. That's incredible. That's like Casey: I know they got one small moment of of peace at the Fat Turtle Blake: Mm-hmm. Casey: and then they had to go straight back into the chaos. Blake: So yeah, they the next morning, they're all waking up, they're all having breakfast together, and Kelly is not done w debating whether Bethany is a chef or a cook, and in fact she says that it's creepy again, and she says that just because you're catering people's parties does not a chef make, which I will say like It does sound like she does cater people's parties. Now, is she cooking the food beforehand? Is she cooking it there? I don't really like know th I personally don't know the difference. Casey: Well, I was just gonna say, like, does anyone care? Like, has anyone stopped to define the difference? Cause I don't know if anyone really cares all that much. Like, I guess like if you're Gordon Ramsey, you might care. Like, if somebody walks up to you and is like, I'm a chef too, and they're like, I cook at home. You might be like, Okay, bud, like, we are not the same Blake: Right. Casey: here. Like, but if you're just regular, like for the most part, regular people, like, I don't think that I would feel Well, I guess I wouldn't feel like what with what Bethany had been producing at this time, that like she would have been a much better cook than like anyone else in the building. Like I think she would be a good cook, but I wouldn't expect to get like an insanely like curated five star meal if Bethany was gonna cook for me. Like I'd expect just like Blake: Right. Casey: a decently produced well cooked meal because I think she knows enough about food, Blake: Right. Casey: clearly, which is I think what Kelly is trying to say. Like, you yeah, you can cook, Blake: Yeah. Casey: but you're not like a a renowned chef. Like Blake: Bethany's like, you I went to to culinary school, like w what what about my situation makes you doubt like whether I can be a chef? And she she's like, I don't know. Like I she doesn't really have an answer. So it's kinda like stop bringing it up then, this is where we get, I think, maybe our first ever like taste of how Bethany loves to do a black scent. Which she's not the Casey: Not the first mm mm Blake: first. Casey: I know of a documented case. I think it's I think it's season one even. And they are at Blake: my god. Casey: Alex has no. Somebody has a dinner party. It actually might be Chef Bethany. Bethany might be cooking at at said dinner party. And it's supposed Blake: Ha ha ha. Casey: to be a girl's night. And Alex brings Simon and Ramona like leaves immediately because she's so mad that Simon is there. And Bethany turns on on her black scent to talk about Ramona. exit I think I have it clipped somewhere but like never really know like what to even do with it because it's like offensive like Blake: and in this in her confessional when Kelly says like I don't know you know why you would be a cook versus a chef, she's like, if you don't know, you better ask somebody and you can just imagine how she said that. and then Bethany has a funny line where she's like, you know, I'm a chef, I'm an author, and I'm a hobag. and this is Casey: Yeah, that's that's good. Blake: a at this point, this is like t what you referenced, this is where Kelly's response to this to the to what Bethany's saying takes a turn for the confusing Casey: my god. Blake: Like it the co like she th they're not having the same conversation. No, you're Casey: Are you guys seeing the same movie that I'm seeing? And Kelly says, no. Blake: you're in a horror movie. Casey: Mind you, Kelly's in the horror movie. Kelly thinks she's like Blake: Yeah. Casey: actively being hunted on this boat by Bethany Blake: Ha ha. Casey: at night. Like, but God, it's so funny. Honestly, I might need to try this out where if I'm losing an argument or if I'm not really sure what to say next, I might just start uttering nonsensical phrases just to end the dialogue. Like she really does just shut that down there. You know, like, what are you talking about? Satchels of gold. Like, what? If you don't know, Blake: I r yeah, I mean Casey: you don't know. Bethany, it's satchels of gold. Like, let's move along. Blake: I mm well let me know how that goes for you. so Okay. Casey: I'm gonna do it. And I will. Blake: I'm I'm excited to see what institution you get put into. they Casey: The Kelly Bensimone Prodigy Hall for young for Blake: Yeah. Casey: young beautiful women. Blake: Institute for jogging on the street. Casey: Ha ha Blake: So they they finally arrive on the scary island. and while they're all settling in, Bethany, as she is wont to do, delivers everyone a skinny girl gift basket. You know, it's full of like skinny girl beach I it's there's apparently like an endless supply of Skinny Girl everything. Like there's like Skinny Girl sunscreen, there's Skinny Girl like nonsense in there that you've never heard of. They probably only made for that like one episode. But yeah, it's Skinny Girl merch. and this sends Kelly into orbit. She hears a knock on her door, she opens it, it's just this the skinny girl gift basket. She probably thinks that like it was animated by like a demon and like walked over with two feet. She Casey: She thinks there's like anthrax inside the skinny girl bag at the door. Like she's immediately so stressed out and she's immediately sobbing. She like kind of like deeply sighs, puts the bag down Blake: He Casey: on her bed and just is racked with sobs, like right away. Blake: She's she is so disturbed by the sight and Casey: Yeah. Blake: I guess the like meaning behind the skinny girl gift basket that she's just inventing in her head. She like grabs her phone, she calls Jill, and she says that she's been having nightmares about Bethany stabbing her in her sleep and murdering her, and then she like does the like imitation of stabbing and She's like kind of like rambling and she's like Bethany has knives on her tongue. Jill's on the other end of the phone and she's just like my g god, like you Casey: The knives on her tongue. Like Jill is listening to this imagery. Kelly. Kelly's screaming into the phone. I mean, honestly, she has knives on her tongue. I don't even know how she kisses Jason with that mouth because she has knives on her tongue. Knives. She probably cuts his mouth. And Jill is like, right. Blake: Jill in her confessional, she's like, she's losing it. Like she's losing her grip on reality. Like I'm concerned for her. Like, just in case you thought maybe like J Jill and and Luann would maybe like say, I get it. Like, I would be the same way if I was other Nope. They're like, okay, I don't know what what's going on, but it can't be This bad. Like they're inducing a psychotic break in this lady, and we haven't even gotten to the worst of it. So Casey: The peak. Yeah, the the physical break. We're we're breaking. Blake: We're yeah, where like the tether has been cut in half. Reality is floating away. so the next morning after her psychotic moment after the gift basket tried to kill her, Kelly Kelly ha tries another tactic. I would say this is her like third shift in tactic after Just after realizing that it's not going well for her, she brings a notepad to the women in the kitchen and she kind of announces that like if anyone has any complaints, they can write it on the notepad instead of talking about them and then kind of just throw the paper with the complaints away. And she was like, you know, cause we're all in third grade and we all need to stop talking about each other or something. But like nobody has complaints and like nobody knows where it came from and everyone's just like, No, I'm good. Like I'm an adult, I can tell someone if I have a problem, like I'm I'm good. So Casey: Hey, you can't say she wasn't trying. She gave them an opportunity to speak their mind and they didn't take it. That's on them. Blake: Yeah, I d I don't think that the anyone had like I don't think anyone knew what they were feeling about her at the moment. They were processing. Casey: Right, even what to complain about. Blake: Yeah, I mean it sort of wouldn't you write on the paper like you're scaring me, like question mark. Like what do you Casey: Yeah. Blake: what's the what's the like productive like action item we're we're putting on the paper here? Like can you go home? question mark. Time to leave, babe. Casey: If this was Salt Lake City, they would've they would have written on the they all would have had an answer and it would have said, leave, shut up, never talk again. Blake: it would have said maybe consider killing yourself. Like it would they wouldn't they would they don't hold back in the Salt Lake. so then Kelly I would say s immediately pivots to a fourth tactic. I me she's getting quicker. She's realizing, okay, that didn't work, but what I'm gonna do now is I'm gonna take everyone's picture. Like my gift to you. I was a model, I'm getting into the behind the camera situation, so let me just start getting pictures of you fine dashing ladies. And so they're all like relu I mean Bethany stays 'cause she has to cook, but everyone else reluctantly is like, sure, I guess. And I would say everyone's everyone's sh photo shoot goes pretty fine except for Alex's, which is just strange. Casey: Alex doesn't like this ab like they're both unhappy with this photo shoot. A Kelly's Blake: Mm-hmm. Casey: like she's horrible she's a horrible model. Like she did a very bad job posing for my photos. And Alex like, Kelly made me so uncomfortable in my photo shoot but In all honesty, of all the things you can dock Kelly for, I don't really think this was one of them. Like, Alex, she was trying to help you get the shot, honey. Like, don't be mad that she was giving you constructive criticism. And sorry, your Blake: And you couldn't take it. Casey: shot was not turning out. Like, you have to you have to serve angles. You have to serve Puss. Like, Kelly knows about this. And I understand that that's upsetting. It's hard to reckon with that reality that you're you're not serving it, but that's not Kelly's fault. It's not. Blake: Don't try and pin it on this diva. There's enough being pinned on her as it is. We will not add one more. Casey: Like she was mad that Ramona turned it out and Sonia served and then Alex couldn't deliver. I'd be pissed too. Blake: so that we move on from the the photo shoot. It kind of goes over relatively without a hitch. and we get like a little a nice little reprieve back in New York. Jill and Luann get dinner to sort of catch up and to discuss what they've heard so far about this trip that they're not on. And you know, Jill obviously is talking about how like Kelly was basically losing her mind, going crazy, how they're you know, Lou is like, you know, I I she has a lot of guts. I told her not to go. Jill is like, I I wouldn't go anywhere I wasn't welcome. Which is funny because then she immediately tells Luann that she's thinking of going to visit and surprise the women because her schedule changed and now she can actually like it's on the way to where she was going so she can stop by and say hi and she's like Ramona invited me initially and I just couldn't go so I'm sure I'm welcome. Like Lou is literally like, Hey, you should definitely like at least text and be like, H d how does this sound if I did this? Casey: Right. On the way. Blake: Like, like how would it be w what what if I stop by? Like, thoughts, vibe check, and and Jill's like, No, that's ridiculous. I would that's r I would never f why wouldn't I be why wouldn't I be i greeted with open arms? That's ridiculous. So Lou Luann is just kind of like Casey: Right, it's not like Blake: All right, girl. Casey: it sh it should be a great trip for me. It's not like my enemy whose father just tragically died is gonna be there waiting to receive me. Like I'm sure it's gonna be good. Blake: Run it back. Pregnant, dead husband, psychotic inmate on the loose, running amok on the island, and now we got ex-best friend plotting to drop a bomb, Casey: On the way. my god. Blake: like on the way, flying with her her B1 bomber plane to Scary Island. Bethany and Sober and Sober run it back. Casey: And honestly, you know I'm not one to give it to Bethany, but like this is like she is like Job in in the Bible. Like she is the levels of suffering that she is being put through right now, like you can make a film about it. Like this is th this is the Odyssey to connect it. Blake: I So Luan's kinda just like whatever girl I have an ugly man to go on a date with so you do that and then we go we we cut away and then we move on. We move we come back to the island and guys this is it. This is Casey: It's time. Blake: this is yeah everyone t just breathe, gird your loins, steal yourself Sit down, you probably mu will need to grab some water for the faint of heart. this is the scary island dinner. We come back from the photo shoot, everyone's getting all dolled up. Bethany is cooking for everyone because she said that's my like in bachelorette gift for Ramona is I'm just gonna cook for everyone. so Bethany's in charge of that. And the women Minus Bethany are gathering around having a drink and waiting for the food to be served. And immediately we're off the rails because Kelly has Kelly's phone rings. The women are chatting, Kelly's phone rings, and she answers the phone like in their vicinity. And the Ramona is like so absolutely flummoxed and irritated. by the fact that Kelly's like on the phone talking. And like I obviously we weren't there. But I will give it to to Kelly. I didn't think that this was super disruptive. And she also, mind you, it was her daughter on the phone. Casey: Right. It was like kind of annoying. Like I if it had been gone going on super long, I probably would have said something, but like you're also in a massive house. Why don't you guys just go somewhere? Like it doesn't really like it's it's a nitpicky thing to like in a group of people Blake: Right. Casey: you like. It's something that maybe you'd say to like a stranger, like when a movie's about to start or like it's dead quiet. Like but like your friend who's talking to their kid, I think you could probably let it slide. But no. Blake: Right. But Ramona turns around and literally says, Kelly, go over there. And she like she like forces her into a corner. So Kelly like walks away, whatever. Bethany comes out and like checks in, how we all do, and they all start talking about what just happened with Kelly, and then Kelly like Finishes her phone call, comes over and starts like immediately like like if it's my daughter, like don't even like they just start kind of getting into it. So like we're not even sat down at the table and everyone's already fighting with Kelly. Kelly's just already like on edge, whatever. We sit down for dinner. Kelly makes a comment that she doesn't want to sit across from Bethany. And she makes that comment loud enough for Bethany to hear it. And Bethany goes, Kelly, you sit wherever you want to. It's your life. I don't care. Like we're just getting off to such a horrible start. Anyway, the food comes out and Kelly is just complaining. She doesn't like it. She's not gonna finish it, whatever. And like Sonia's trying to like eat her leftovers. She's like, I don't want her to see that you're like finishing the food, whatever. It's just immediately like Kelly's not like setting herself up for success in this moment, I would say. Casey: to be fair, like it's just not like right after the the creepy chef cook argument to have Bethany be cooking dinner is already like a setup against Kelly 'cause she's already like made her point clear on this matter that she like doesn't think Bethany's a high quality cook or chef or whatever word you wanna use. So like already she has she almost has to be upset about this happening or else she looks like she's flipping her position from earlier. So, you know, the food is like they're eating, it's just like already not going well. And the women are are glazing Bethany because she's pregnant and being tested by demonic Kelly. So they're like, this is the best food we've ever had. Like, this is amazing. And Sonia is like, and I know about great food because I've had so many five star chefs like on on yachts. And like I've I've tasted five star five star food before. And Kelly, like just like beady eyed, staring at across the table, it's like, We know about the past, Sonia. Blake: she clocks that like she has picked up on the f that it's a recurring pattern with Sonya. That she Casey: Right. Blake: that she like likes to re like consistently talk about like her life on the yacht and her life with like the JP Morgan guy or whatever. And I just I found this to be like one of those moments with Kelly where it's like there is like someone there. Like you do have your moments of like you know what's going on because Casey: Right. There's like a kernel of truth, I think, in a lot of the things she says. Again, I think there's something like missing like in like the connections between her like neural networks of like what she thinks and how it comes across. Because like, yeah, like I kind of get what she's saying in a lot of these things. At least I think. I could be wrong, but like the Chef Cook thing, I kind of get it. If she was a different housewife and she delivered it in a different way, everyone would be like, like this read, like she read her, like she read her down. But Kelly isn't delivering it that way. So like she's not reading them down, but I feel like she's like fighting to do that. Like there's a diva Blake: Yeah. Casey: inside her that is trying to deliver the line, Blake: So r' at one point Ramona decides to apologize to Bethany for their Brooklyn Bridge famous, infamous Brooklyn Bridge scene where Ramona just kind of like eviscerates Bethany and says she has no friends and she'll probably fuck things up with Jason. She like sits on Bethany's lap and she looks at her like really deeply in the eyes and she's like, I'm so sorry. Like I just I wanna take this opportunity. And Kelly like interrupts and she's like, Are you guys gonna make up with tongue? And Ramona Ramona's like, Kelly, you're in timeout. Like, she's like, enough. I've had enough. And Kelly's like Kelly's like, I don't want to be in timeout. You zip it. I want you to zip it. Zip it. Zip it. Like the way she's Casey: You to zip it. I can hear it so clearly in my head. I don't want to be in timeout. I want you to zip it. Like the zip it. Blake: just like, she's not really like Casey: Mm. Blake: having it at this point. Casey: it's so funny. Like, I'm sorry, it's so funny. And at various points throughout this dinner, like all of the women need breaks from the conversation because of how absurd it is. So like Bethany will get up at a point and kind of disappear. Like at one point, like Bethany, Ramona, and Alex all get up and it's just Kelly and Sonia. So like there are different like conversations, like there's almost like little phases that happen. And at one point, one of them is sort of like a Kelly and Alex moment where they are talking about their their happening. On the trip and what's been going on lately. And like again, I kind of think at a certain point these women needed to like Ramona yelling at her about the phone call, and then what Alex does here, like, okay, clearly she's off her rocker, so stop bringing up things Blake: Ha ha ha. Casey: that you want a reasonable conversation about. But Alex is sitting across from her and is kind of like, Can I say something to you? Like, great, here we go. And and she's Blake: Ha ha ha. Casey: like, I was uncomfortable in front of your camera today. I felt unsafe in front of your camera today because you're unpredictable. Like, I never know how you're gonna act. Like it made me feel so unsafe. And obviously, Kelly is not pleased to hear this. Like, she's gonna go right back at her. Blake: Ha ha ha. Casey: But instead of like, you know, she's kinda like, and I didn't like taking your picture, but she more so moves back in time to that night that Blake mentioned earlier, where Alex like delivers a message on Jill's behalf or on Bethany's behalf to Jill. And Kelly is like you showed up showed up to Ramona's party wearing kabuki makeup. She was wearing kabuki she was wearing kabuki makeup showing up to Ramona's party, which is like I I believe Japanese style makeup, which is like like white, heavily like white face makeup and then like black details around the eyes, right? Blake: Yeah, like like heavy like black eyeshadow, like Casey: Yeah. Blake: and she's like you were like channeling the devil, like you like you she's like just completely like attacking her appearance. Casey: Well, and like right, like Alex, it wasn't Alex's like best looking night, like when I reflect on it. Like she she definitely looks Blake: Ha ha ha. Casey: like she's she looks like fired up. Like she's mad for some reason, even though she's the messenger. And her face is a little pale because she's mad. So like I I I understand why Kelly says this, but when you like look up, if you're like someone watching this and you're like, what's kabuki makeup? Like I've never seen this before, and you look it up, like obviously Alex was not wearing this to the party. Like, this looks nothing Blake: Hehehehehe. Casey: like Like how Alex turned up. Like it's a it's Blake: Ha ha ha. Casey: a huge jump to make. And Alex is, you know, befuddled by her saying this. She's like, what do you mean? Like, she's like, you looked like a ghost, like you were showing up like a demon, and everyone's just, you know, very confused at Blake: Everyone is Casey: Kelly's perception of events. Clearly, not even just Blake: Yeah. Casey: tonight, like her perception now is being distorted on past events. So this raises the question. Has your memory been like this since then? Or is Blake: Ha ha ha Casey: it so bad that it's actually warping your memories from the past as well? So things are really it's getting scary. It's getting scary on the island. It is. Blake: And like Bethany and Ramona come back to the table, and like Bethany's sort of just feeling extremely vindicated because she's like everyone is like seeing like right in front of me, like what I've been talking about, how she like isn't like tethered to reality or whatever. And that's when Kelly decides to share that she's been having dreams about Bethany killing her, and that she threw up the night before they embarked on the trip because she was terrified. That Bethany was going to like stab her and like murder her and kill her. Casey: Wait, you want to know something really funny about that specific line? I clipped that like s scene that line and I posted it off my Instagram like a couple months ago, probably, and I captioned it. Kelly was correctly identifying Bethany's aura years ago. And let Blake: Hehehehehe. Casey: me let me tell you, Instagram does not agree with me. My comment section Blake: Ho ho ho ho. Casey: was like said no one ever. Like Kelly is crazy. Blake: I feel like there are Casey: Kelly is not right. Like Bethany is everything. I was like, whoa, okay. Like, where are my Kelly Bensimone fans at? Like this reached the wrong audience. Blake: Like it's called a joke. There's a clear There's a clear divide between housewife, like viewers Casey: Yeah. Blake: who have watched Bethany Frankel's TikToks and those who Casey: Yeah. Blake: have not. And I think that a lot of those people must not know what she's up to now because I think that like the nostalgia of the show is still in their head. But once you see Casey: Right, they think she's still like a girl boss, independent, like single mom Maven, like picturing her with her jaw in tow still. Blake: Yeah. They don't think that she's like They don't like think of her as like hawking nonsense products and hanging out with like with twenty one year old influencers and like eating like Casey: Right. Stealing merch from like small brands and not crediting them in her TikToks. Blake: And not crediting them and eating like glorifying eating disorder snacks and stuff like like she Casey: Yes. Blake: they just her her guys don't her TikTok is scary. Casey: Right, which is what I thank you. This is what that's what I meant like with my caption of like, you know, obviously I'm exaggerating, like I'm not saying Bethany's a murderer, but like like she low key was Blake: But she could be. Casey: the first to pick up on the rancid vibe that was that was stewing inside of Bethany, at the very least. Blake: Yes. I I I don't I actually do agree with that. Like I I feel like it took a while for a lot of people and I think as a housewife, Bethany like really has a lot of fun, great moments, and she definitely did great things for the show. But like when she's not a housewife and she's not anchoring a show, like that energy is not directed in like a more productive manner and it just is unleashed into onto the masses on TikTok and it's it's Casey: Right. Blake: a it's a nightmare on Casey: Right. It's true for like a lot of like reality TV stars that are successful. Like the things that make them successful in the reality TV format is exactly what would make them insufferable in pretty much every other format of life. Like it's Blake: yeah. Casey: it only it's like Jax Taylor. Like it only worked on this one moment and now that that moment's ended, nobody like cares for it anymore because it's just shitty. It it's just like Blake: Yeah, it's like, we're not channeling this into like the the sp specific use case we have for it. Now it's just like, ooh, put that away somewhere. Casey: Yeah, keep that out of our line of vision at least. Like Blake: Yeah. So checking back in, this is where we're at, this is where we're at at the dinner. So so Kelly, who's who is Rachel Dratt? That's the only I don't know, the one that was in Luann's No, but I feel like that's not that can't be the one she's talking about. We could speculate, Casey: Who's Rachel? Right, like I know like Rachel Ray. We can we could we can speculate all day. Blake: we could keep going down the list of Rachels, I mean, I know I know a few. but I feel like Casey: I look you don't know any more than Blake: I was really hoping we weren't gonna do that because I realized I don't know that many Rachels. Casey: go all day we're done. Blake: We all day with Rachel. I literally just Rachel Ray. Rachel Riley from Big Brother, but Casey: I'm sure somebody's like sleuthed around and figured out who Kelly or she like probably got asked in an interview once in like two thousand ten. But we we don't have the budget to have a PA to look that up for us. So moving along Blake: But we do confirm is this what you were gonna say? Take the Watch What Happens Live, Casey: Wait, I don't know. You do it. Blake: like when Andy when Andy asked Gwyneth Paltrow if he if she knows Kelly Kalor and Bensimone bec and from this like scene, and she literally w just silently shook her head like No, nope, I don't like literally that came out of nowhere. Which like my good friend, my dearest Casey: My friend Gwynneth. Literally me defending housewives and celebrities. Like this is me when someone insults like someone I do not know. I'm like, whoa, what about when you attacked my friend Luann? Like we we had a falling out. Me me when you attack Whitney Rose on the pod and we have to cut it out because I get pissed off. Blake: Whoa. Whoa, you're not gonna attack my good friend Whitney Rose. Whitney Wild Rose. Casey: Whoa What about when you attacked my friend Whitney? But another celebrity besides the Rachel that we can or cannot identify at this exact moment in time is Al Sharpton gets name dropped by Kelly. Honestly, I'm not quite sure why Bethany says something like she Bethany's like trying to kind of like lighten the mood. Like she's like, yeah, like, no, I wanna hear what you have to say, Kelly. Like and Kelly's like, No, you don't and Bethany like says in like a funny voice from whatever movie it's from. I'm not like into movies like that. But she's like, You can't handle the truth. Like w that Blake: Ha Casey: That famous line, Blake: ha ha. Casey: which I know was not said by Al Sharpton. And Kelly's like, Al Sharpton! Al Sharpton! Blake: Ha ha. Casey: You look like Al Sharpton! And Bethany's like, what? Like Bethany looks nothing like that grown black man. Like, what do you mean she looks like Al Sharpton? Blake: Like what are you tal like not even that sounded like Right, not like the quote from Al Sharpton, like n you look like Al Sharpton, like we're just jumping Well Casey: No, and that's not his quote. Like Blake: I know, but like ev that would make more sense if she just like got it confused Casey: Yeah. Blake: than like you then she's like you look like Al Sharpton Casey: Honestly, even if it even if she had gotten like if it was like let's say like if a black actor had said the line, even if she had gotten like another black actor, like at least she would have been in like the same like arena of person, like Al Sharpton, I'm pretty sure Blake: Right. Realm of reality. Casey: so I g I hopefully I'm not wrong. It says it's in a few good men, the movie, and it was said by Jack Nicholson. So like Al Sharpton and Jack Nicholson Blake: That's simply those people couldn't be further apart in looks, in biography. Wha Bethany Casey: Right, and Bethany looks like neither of them. Blake: doesn't resemble either of them, but s most particularly not the black man, of the two. Casey: How sharp didn't the civil rights activists like? Blake: So at this point, I think Kelly she needs a break. So she kind of runs off into the night. or so we think, and then she immediately comes back, but with jelly beans. She has her jelly beans in hand. so she came back and she now is on to back with the word creepy directed at Bethany, but this time it's creepy that Bethany's on the trip after her dad died. So she's like, I think it's scary, it's creepy, like it it freaks me out that you would come on this trip after your dad Casey: So creepy. Blake: died. She's just like at this point at this point, like Sonya is like, guys, I think that we are actually dealing with a crazy person. Like I think that all of us are saying we're trying to rationalize this, we're trying to like push back and argue, but this is a crazy person. We are saying I think we should probably stop feeding into this. Kelly Okay, Casey: Okay, let's stop. Blake: let's Kelly No the way that That resonated Casey: Alex heard that. That that hit Alex deep. Okay, let's stop. Blake: The way that Kelly She's just like she's like munching on her jelly beans she's like Ugh I don't like your tone She's like Casey: I'm sorry, Kelly Kalorin Ben Simone, come get your baddie's train because this performance, is it coherent? No. Is it well put? No. But does she 1v4 somehow make it through this as the icon of the moment? Yes. And that's all that really matters at the end of the day. Blake: She was unflappable. She was absolutely she stood Casey: Not a flap could get to Kelly Medso. Blake: You couldn't flap her not one bit. She was she was unflapped. And she kept her flaps in place. Casey: They tried to flap her, they tried to flap her spirit, and she was resilient. She was a flame that they could not stoke. Blake: Ha ha ha Casey: She flapped as hard as she could possibly flap. Kelly Bensmo, we carry the flame. Blake: So at this point, they all they all kind of start putting their best like therapy voice on. They're all kinda like they're like talking to her like as if she's on the ledge of a building. They're like, Kelly, it's gonna be it's okay. You know Casey: Right. Blake: what? I misjudged you, just step back. We're gonna be fine. There's Casey: Right, guns down, like it's Blake: Yeah, there's no need to jump. It's it's okay. Casey: Which they should have done like the second she started being nonsensical on that boat. But, you know, they got there eventually. Honestly, I would love, like this is such an insane thing to say. I I'll I'll preface that. I would love like a feature length documentary about the behind the scenes of Scary Island. Like, I wanna hear from the the set assistants. I wanna hear from the cameramen. Like, did they have to step in at a point and be like, Y'all, like You're bullying a crazy lady. Like it's great content, but like we have to wrap this. Like and I feel like Blake: Right. Casey: she's unsafe. Like somebody needs to like pause and like when she comes back out here, like you guys need to be nice to that woman. Like, cause we're all stuck here in the Virgin Islands, Blake: Like did they Casey: like together. So can somebody please fix this for us? Like it was probably out of Blake: Did they like Casey: hand. Blake: did they like produce them de-escalating the situation? Like were they like we can't step in even though we're all terrified? But like what our advice now is gonna be try get this back on the rails. Like don't actually for once Casey: Like simply we're gonna have to air this with a mental health PSA if you don't bring this down a couple notches, so can you please try and make this funny again? Because it's starting to get a little scary, Bethany, please. Blake: Bet like Bethany, like your y this you're like the fact that Casey: Like you're telling me Sonya pulled that out? Like Blake: Right. That's I was gonna say like Sonya, like she had like such a like gripping moment of intense like clarity. She was like, I know exactly what's happening right now. Guys, stop. We are attacking a crazy woman. Casey: And she had to have been one of the drunker ones there because again, Bethany's not drinking. Kelly, I don't even know if she's drunk or if it's all from the mind affliction. Alex never seems drunk and Ramona is drunk, we already know that. So the two of them should not be the ones to like Blake: The two of them Casey: calm it down. Blake: Yeah. I I agree. I would love to know once that dinner ended, 'cause we immediately move on. Like that dinner ends and then the the the the women wake up the next morning and Kelly Kelly has left. So I would actually like to know more Yeah. Yeah. Casey: Right. Right. Like who who was awake when Kelly fled the property? Who arranged Kelly's flight off the or yacht to yacht to flight off the island? Like it's not even a quick place to Blake: yacht to flight. Casey: like get out of. and you know, one other thing that I was thinking of on upon this rewatch, like Normal people, if they were given like a wish or if they were able to time travel or manipulate the timelines of the universe, you know, they'd like save a family member or like cure cancer or go see the dinosaurs or something exciting. Like I'd be in the control room of my time box and I'd be like, redo scary island, but put Luan with them all and let me watch and let me watch how it how it changes the the course of fate. Blake: Tell the when to go on the trip. Tell the wind to go on the trip. Casey: Like run it again, but let's do the full teams have Kelly go insane with Jill and Luann there. Like let's see if it goes into a brawl or if it's everybody versus Kelly. And if so, Blake: I Casey: I think she still would have delivered the same unflappable performance that she did if everyone Blake: I honestly Casey: was there. Blake: I I honestly think the boat would have sank before they got to Scary Island if it was all of them. Like like the amount of tension just on the yacht talking about Jill, and then if we have Jill there with again, run it back, pregnant, Bethany, dad dead, sober, mental patient tormenting her, Casey: You know the stats. Blake: you know the fucking stats. Run it back. If we had Jill there in front of her the entire time. on top of Kelly and then God forbid Luann says something about her like etiquette on the boat and then it's a fucking it then it's a fucking like I think that first of all mind you like Bethany is doing all I I we said pregnant but like you can't be like two up in arms when you're pregnant because it's not good for the baby. So Casey: No, yeah, absolutely. Stress, noise, like Blake: Like, the baby would have fucking punched through Bethany's like belly and jumped out and been like like uppercutted fucking like Luann off the boat. Casey: The baby was low-key living for Kelly Men Simone inside Bethany's womb. The baby was like, wait, gag her. Like Blake: Hmm. Casey: she is creepy F. Brynn was in there having a goddamn key. Brynn was like Blake: Asking Bryn asking Bryn Hoppy if she remembers Scary Island. Casey: Hi, Brynn. Thank you so much for coming on the Mention It All Again podcast. Our first question for you is gonna be, what was your favorite Bethany lion to witness from inside the womb? Blake: The the next morning, we find out Kelly has left, which is probably for the best. And again, to your point, I wonder if that was her choice or if they were like, you are going home. So she left, she left a message that said like I'm going back home, thanks for a great trip, and it's like it's like honestly, like you should you didn't have to say that. Yeah, Casey: Thanks. Blake: like thanks so much for having me. It's like really it's like it's like the producer wrote that Casey: This was the best. Like, and she was also there for so little time, it seemed. Like the whole trip, like the trip beyond the journey there isn't actually filmed all that much beyond the dinner and like Blake: Ha ha ha. Casey: when Jill arrives, because like nothing could match up to the first couple nights. But yeah, Kelly, Blake: Ha ha ha. Casey: it feels like I think Kelly's there for one night, like actually in the home and Blake: In the home, yeah. Casey: And then she flees. Blake: And that's Casey: I wonder if she took her scare I almost just said Scary Island merge. Her skinny girl merge with her. Probably not. Blake: I'm gonna go ahead and say she pulled a Bronwin and like threw it overboard or something. Like that shit's deep in the Mediterranean at this point. Casey: I can like picture Kelly. It'd be a confessional being like, Yeah, I threw it in the trash. Do you think any of that would be good for people who are poor? Do you think I'd give that to poor people? That's that's rude. That's creepy. I wouldn't give that to poor people. Blake: It had bad energy. It was it was possessed by Casey: Mm-hmm. Blake: a ghost. I wouldn't want a poor person to be possessed by a ghost. Casey: That would be an insult to the poor if I went and I dropped that off. Blake: So the women are are like finally like we can breathe. my god. They're getting pedicures. Casey: They're so happy. Like Blake: They're like, wow, we have one more day and this is gonna be the best fucking day ever Ramona! Casey: Boy. Blake: Ramona shoots up. my gosh. She's like she's like wobbling in her chair. She's covering her face. She's holy like, I've I've we've all had those moments where like you are just something that you are just not expecting. You're in like such a nice, like good zone, and then like something out of the blue, you remember you forgot to do something or whatever, and then you like Casey: Mm-hmm. Blake: shoot up, and it's like all the adrenaline in your body is like coursing through your veins, like fuck. That that feeling, except for You've been feeling that way for th two days already, and then a new reason to feel that way, just as you thought you were gonna have a nice peaceful day. And it's fucking Jill of all people, who everyone on that trip, except for like Sonya, is not fucking dealing with, does not fucking like Casey: It's kind of so funny though. Again, like I'm on the side. I was on I was such a Jill Kelly Luann team member. Like, that's who I stood with. So I thought this was so funny when I originally watched. I still kind of think it's funny, even though like she sucks. But they are Blake: Mm-hmm. Casey: shitting crying to rowing up at this woman's arrival to this island. Like that's Blake: Ha ha. Casey: power. That is real power. It's not maybe it's not good, but like That that says Blake: Ha ha ha. Casey: something about your presence. Like she like in all for all intents and purposes was gonna come and be nice too. So it wasn't even like they had any reason to like be quaking. Like she was just gonna like say hi. Blake: Right. She was kind of she was kind of like already feeling like maybe I'll apologize to Bethany. Like not th not on the trip, but like she was already kind of getting to a place where she was like, I I feel bad that I'm not there for her during all these like life events that are happening, pregnant, dad died, etcetera, etcetera. she wasn't coming to like fuck shit up, but they it's just too far gone at this point. And it's funny 'cause Ramona straight up is like, like Hi, but why didn't you text me you were coming? And who told her to do that? And who told her to do that? Miss Miss L Ann. Miss L period Ann. The Casey: The supreme. Blake: Supreme. cause like, that's not even like an etiquette countess thing. That's just like a dude. You're gonna you're gonna fucking Casey: Right. Blake: crash their fucking like party after you said you're not going, like, and you don't e you're not even good with like half the people there. Like, you should probably text. Not that Casey: Right. Just on the basis alone that Bethany is there and you guys are having the fallout that you're having means that you should text so Ramona, even if she is happy to see you or happy to host you, can give Bethany a heads up. So it doesn't seem like it's a whole s like it's obvious. Again, like if you're if Blake: Yeah. Casey: you're any type of person who thinks beyond just yourself, which as we've come to know, Jill does not, then you would have thought this. But alas. Blake: it would have been obvious to you. And so like so like everyone is kind of quaking. Ramona's kind of trying to explain to her, like, I'm not like upset you're here, but just like the vibe was kind of like set in already and we've just had like a crazy past few days and like, you know, I just wanted to have like a you know, a good trip. You said you couldn't come. we basically locked it in that you weren't coming and that's the vibe we planned for. And now you're kind of like ruining the vibe. I wish you had told me you could come. but Alex like decides that this is her moment to like give her thesis on like how disrespectful this was for Jill to come. And she's like she is. Casey: Well, she's like literally having a panic attack. Like Ale like it's not even Bethany who's like freaking out at Jill's arrival. Like Alex is like hyperventilating, sobbing. You know, her face has gone white again. I think Jill just has that effect on her. It's not the makeup, but like and Sonia is like, Okay, she's she's having an anxiety attack right now. So I like I think we need to take care of her and you need to go. Blake: Ha ha ha Casey: And Jill is like, what do you mean? Like what why? Like, what like okay, I guess I'll go. And you know, she's kind of like Blake: Just like Casey: offended and flabbergasted, like okay, fine. Like Blake: She's kinda like, Alright, maybe like I could have expected like not the finest reception, but y'all like really don't want me here. Like, fuck. Casey: Like they did not want her even standing there for five minutes just to say hello. Like Blake: She like runs back to her car and she's like, they kicked me out. She's I can't believe they kicked me out. Like I And she's like, Bobby paid a lot Casey: They kicked me out. Blake: of money for us to fly the plane here or whatever. I'm like, okay, so then you should have texted if it was gonna cost a lot of money. Casey: Right. No, she definitely should have texted. Both both things are true, and the whole thing is bizarre. But like Alex to me sometimes, and like I like Alex and I enjoy her, but I think one of the things that like puts me off of her at moments is some of her reactions are so bizarre to me. Like this is bizarre Blake: They are strange. Casey: to me. Like I know that you have beef with Jill, but also her whole beef with Jill was just like proxy beef on Bethany's behalf. So why are you so like you didn't even ever actually have like a core issue with Jill? Like to be getting that. Blake: Yeah. Casey: upset that over something that didn't even start over an insult to you is like a little a little unhinged. Not that anyone is gonna say Blake: They did have the like Casey: that, but like Blake: they did have the like you are a bully and I am in Brooklyn trying to survive. Yeah. She started she really like opened it up for herself. Casey: But that was because Alex delivered the message for Bethany. So like that's what I mean. It's it's all started because of Bethany and Alex. So it's like and honestly, like I blame Alex for that because why did you think that would go over well? Like to pull up Blake: Yeah. Casey: with a message from somebody's best fri ex best friend and be like, She fucking hates you. How are you? Blake: Like, thanks. Yes, we were talking mad shit about you, and she fucking hates you, and there's no shot you guys can be friends anymore. Casey: well. Hey, she wanted me to come tell you that she literally will never speak to you again in your lifetime because you're a flop. Thanks for having me over. This was fun. Like, let's hug. Like, so Blake: But this is so fun. I'm having a great time. Casey: I blame her for the whole thing. So, like, it's it's a full circle moment of like like you kind of brought yourself here, but they're all very upset and they're all very concerned about Alex's. What sword? Health. Alex's stature. but Blake: Her mental health. Casey: yeah, everything is smooth sailing once Jill is then removed from the scenario and k and Kelly Blake: Once she's booted from the island. Casey: literally kicked off the island, both of them. They got sent home from the villa. They were single and vulnerable, so they were dumped from the Blake: Survivor voted owl. Casey: Love Island villa, aka Scary Island. And everyone is so happy after that. Like they're like, we all get along great. Like this is so much fun. Blake: They're so They're so happy for their four hours left of the trip that they have. Casey: Right. Which we might not even see because at this point they just spent like four episodes on Kelly's mental breakdown. So they were like, We gotta move on. Like you guys enjoy the last day of your trip unfilmed and we'll see you back at home. Like Blake: Yeah. You guys can nothing can top what just happened, so just please ha get your finish your pedicure and and go in the go go in the go to the beach. You haven't done that. so Casey: Yeah. You guys hit the beach. Share a laugh. Blake: yeah, we finally we finally move move on from the trip. We're all back in New York. Kelly is debriefing with Luann, with Jill, and then some lady they're all trying to debrief, like, figuring out like what happened, on the island because Jill obviously had heard like from Kelly's mouth directly, but like not the full full amount and like Luann had heard bits and pieces here and there. So like Kelly is word for word, like explaining to them like what She said and you know, mentions that she called Bethany a hobag. And like Jill and and and Luann are like, yeah, Casey: Yeah. Blake: can't really can't really defend you on that one. That's I wouldn't have said that to her. I wouldn't have called her that. Casey: Luann is so funny. She's like so amused by the word choice as well. She's like, who says hole bag? I which like to be Blake: Hehehehehe. Casey: fair, like I'm if I was in like a serious fight with friends at dinner and I like called one of them a whole bag, like everyone would probably be like, girl, like what are you up to right now? And I'm 26, Blake: Right. Casey: like let alone they're like all 40 plus. Like it is a little bit of a crazy thing to sling across at your coworker, but Luann's tickled by this. Like sh I think she probably would have been tickled had she been there. I think she probably would have like been cracking up, but they are not like they're not on her side. Like it's not like they're like, yeah, Kelly, like you were totally right to act like this. Like they're like, Kelly, like we're not totally following the story. Like, it seems like you were being a little bit mean. Like, no matter what, like you shouldn't have like said those types of insults. Like you shouldn't have called her a hoe bag. Like you shouldn't have, like, and Kelly's Blake: Hehehehe Casey: kind of like, whatever, like I don't really gaff. Blake: Kelly Kelly's just like I'm I survived, bitches. I survived. I you can't say shit, Casey: She does not care. Blake: because I survived. And then Luann attends a party at Sonia's townhouse. Bethany, Ramona, Alex are all there. And they all kind of pull her aside to give Luann their version of events. And Bethany has this one moment where she's like, look, Lou and I are not cool, but like she knows that I don't bullshit. Like she knows by my tone and like what I'm saying that like what I'm saying is true. And I do believe that Loanne believes that. Like nobody is like Casey: Yeah. Blake: listening to Kelly thinking that like this woman had a completely sane, healthy mental experience on this island. so everyone's just kinda like, damn, okay, like that was as probably as bad as it could have gone for her. And Luanne again vindicated because she did say don't go on that trip. And she did. Casey: So wise. So full of wisdom. and yeah, I like I feel like they intentionally skirt around it a little bit just because, like, again, it like kind of stands on the borderline of like a mental health crisis. So like they're they're trying like not to I g Blake: Ha ha ha. Casey: probably because of some type of intervention from from Bravo of like don't hammer this too too hard in case post filming it like comes out that she has a mental health issue and then you guys all look like real assholes. But there's not like a ton of debrief with with Kelly herself where she's like truly apologizing. But she does talk to Ramona at Jill has like a side plot of this season of like her like becoming an ice skater again. So like she has this like h holiday party where she puts on a Leotard and ice skates in front of everyone. It's like very, very strange. But at the event, Kelly talks to Ramona. and it's not even like really an apology session. It's just like sort of like a like let's just move on conversation. Yeah. Like Kelly is a little bit like Ramona, like, you didn't like help me out at all, like, on that trip and like it was really difficult for me and Ramona's like girl, like Blake: Girl, you fla you flapped too close to the sun. Like Casey: Right. Blake: she was like, I I think that she was like, I think the alcohol got to her head on that trip. Like, I think she might be allergic to alcohol. I'm like, well, that's probably not what it is, but Casey: What? Blake: we can go with that. We can go with that. So Ramona's like, okay, Casey: Right. Blake: fine, like, I'm sorry. whatever, I'm sorry. and that's kind of like where they leave it. Like, again, like you said, no one Casey: Yeah. Blake: is really trying to go back into what happened. And Casey: Yeah. It doesn't get dragged along. Like to my recollection, we obviously for this episode didn't like watch the whole season or like go into the reunion. But I w I watched the season all not all that long ago. And I don't even think they really like hash it over too too much at the reunion either. Again, I think because it's like a little bit like question mark what was actually going on there. And Kelly herself never gives like a firm answer of like, yeah, like I was I was crazy that night. Like she's just kinda like, I don't know Blake: Ha ha ha. Casey: what happened. Like it was a mix of things. it's it's glossed over. It's kind of the same as it's like an early version of when Denise Richards on the one of the more recent Beverly Hills seasons, that one where she was like, Thank you, like you're welcome and she like Blake: yeah. Casey: like Where she was like, I don't know what it could have been. Like maybe a little medicine I took, or like maybe my T plus. Like, you know, like it's kind of like a similar Blake: Should Casey: like, let's just move along with the question. Like, yeah, I was being a little crazy that day, but like who c who can say what it was? Like, let's just let's talk about something else. Blake: Y who cares? Like, is it do we have to do we have to find out why? It's like Alright, girl. Casey: which like, you know, whatever. Say Lavi. I don't need to like I don't need a full debrief of like Blake: We don't need to see her medical records. Casey: I was dealing with this and like I took this pill and had this drink. Like it's all cool with me. I enjoyed the performance. So whatever got us there is is fine by me. I love Scary Island. I think this is one of the best Housewife performances in the entire Housewives history for Kelly. Like, no matter what you want to say about it, how I don't even like to use the word crazy in like serious ways, but like, you know, however nonsensical she acts or like how absurd it might seem, it's still i incredible to me. Like four V one, maybe not in her right mind, she did the damn thing. And you have to you have to give her that. Blake: She did the damn thing. And she does come back for Ultimate Girls Trip, the Rony s the Rony version of that. And I feel like as you know, she's still kooky and stuff, but like I think this f it's further clear that this was definitely some something Casey: Right. Blake: was specifically happening because she she's not like she's a weird lady, but she's not like always like this. Casey: Yeah. Kookie is the right is the right word. Yeah. Like she's a little bit like lives a little bit in her own world, like definitely has her own like philosophies that might not totally make sense to everyone else on certain things. Like, but I think it's so funny. Like I remember once I DM'd her, it was a couple of years ago. I think I was probably re-watching it's probably like this this season, season three, I said something along the lines of like Queen, what is it like to be the most misunderstood housewife of all time? Like please let Blake: Ha ha ha. Casey: me know. And she genuinely responded within like ten minutes and was like, honestly, it's very hard. Like it's it's a really hard thing. Like people don't take the moment to understand me, but like I I have class and like dignity and I know what's in my heart, so I just keep on persisting, like And I was like, wow, like you are such an inspiration to me. Like But Blake: Wow. Casey: you know, it does go to show she really believes that in her heart of hearts that like her worldview she's happy with. And like I guess that's all that matters at the end of the day, to be so real. Blake: Well, she's a legend, she's an icon, and she is the moment. Now come on now. And that concludes our recap of such an iconic such an iconic Casey: Our scary island Ep.
