- 0:08Speaker 1: Well, not only is it the autumn of summer of
- 0:11Speaker 1: Southern not summer of autumn twenty six, it is the
- 0:15Speaker 1: autumn of the sun Corp Super Netball season. We are
- 0:19Speaker 1: coming up to Christmas, which is of course the end
- 0:21Speaker 1: of the season. It's very exciting time. There's a lot
- 0:25Speaker 1: to discuss, isn't there? And you're with No Dribble strapping.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to No Dribble, the podcast where we
- 0:44Speaker 1: talk about netball and we talk about so much more.
- 0:47Speaker 1: My name's Carolyn Swindell. I'm Cat Cox, I'm Lise Ellis.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Hi. Every one here, We all are? We are all
- 0:56Speaker 2: here now listen before we go any further. Oh, I
- 1:00Speaker 2: need to confirm something because I feel like this podcast
- 1:03Speaker 2: might be turning into something I did not sign up for.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Okay, we've had a few weeks off the camping.
- 1:08Speaker 2: No since when did we start taking hostages? Where did
- 1:13Speaker 2: you get the New South Wales premiere from? And did
- 1:16Speaker 2: you put him back? I could see plenty of blinking
- 1:21Speaker 2: as in come and help me in that video. I'm
- 1:23Speaker 2: not sure that I'm down for this.
- 1:25Speaker 1: I had a wonderful chat with the premiere of New
- 1:28Speaker 1: South Wales. Because we have the opening of twenty nine
- 1:32Speaker 1: of the most beautiful new netball courts I've ever seen.
- 1:35Speaker 1: You have heard me bitch and moan for more than
- 1:38Speaker 1: one hundred episodes about the netball courts that Eastwood Ride
- 1:41Speaker 1: Netball Association has had to play on at Meadowbank and
- 1:45Speaker 1: for eight years Karen alden Ward, who was the president
- 1:49Speaker 1: of ERNA, ably supported by luminaries of the game such
- 1:53Speaker 1: as Anne Doring and Karen's mate Karina, who came and
- 1:58Speaker 1: stood and held her speech notes on the weekend. They
- 2:00Speaker 1: have worked so hard with state government, with local council,
- 2:04Speaker 1: with the federal government to get funding and on the
- 2:07Speaker 1: weekend they opened this magnificent facility. There's four indoor courts
- 2:12Speaker 1: there and Karen said she's committed to making sure that
- 2:15Speaker 1: all of the earner kids get to play on there
- 2:17Speaker 1: at least once this year. There's this sea of beautiful
- 2:22Speaker 1: blue outdoor courts with no cracks in them, no subsider
- 2:26Speaker 1: adjustable high posts. It's just it was so good. And
- 2:30Speaker 1: the Premier came along to open. Sophie Dwyer there was there,
- 2:33Speaker 1: which was very exciting, and then Jerome Laxle, who was
- 2:37Speaker 1: the federal member for ben a long who does CrossFit
- 2:39Speaker 1: with me said to me, do you want to talk
- 2:42Speaker 1: to the Premier, and it's like, yes, I want to
- 2:44Speaker 1: talk to the Premier.
- 2:46Speaker 2: I will.
- 2:47Speaker 1: It all went really well. They said you've got five minutes.
- 2:50Speaker 1: When the Premier walked out, the staff has said exactly
- 2:53Speaker 1: five minutes. Thank you so much. I did right at
- 2:56Speaker 1: the end refer to him as the Premier of Victimria though,
- 3:01Speaker 1: So that was great.
- 3:02Speaker 2: I know we got that from.
- 3:03Speaker 3: The clip, but I am.
- 3:05Speaker 2: I am relieved because when I watched the video, not
- 3:08Speaker 2: knowing the background, it looked like you were on a
- 3:11Speaker 2: physio bed and I thought, oh my god, this poor
- 3:13Speaker 2: man has gone to physio. She's ended up in the
- 3:15Speaker 2: bed next to him, and then completely trapped him and
- 3:19Speaker 2: asked him about netball and No Dribble. No.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Ernest set that up for us. We got the physio room.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Thanks Jariffer for letting us use the room. That we
- 3:25Speaker 1: were on chairs, not on the physio bed. It was
- 3:28Speaker 1: all very official and above board. The Premier did know
- 3:32Speaker 1: that he was coming to talk to me, so it
- 3:34Speaker 1: wasn't an ambush by the No Dribble podcast. But I
- 3:38Speaker 1: did say, here's our premiere. Premier conversation because we haven't
- 3:41Speaker 1: had a state premier. And one of the things I
- 3:44Speaker 1: did do, and I've been telling dribblers to do this
- 3:47Speaker 1: for years if they ever get the opportunity, ask the
- 3:50Speaker 1: premiere of your state for a big bag of cash
- 3:53Speaker 1: for netball if you want to see more netball in
- 3:55Speaker 1: your state. So I did do that, So I'll release
- 3:57Speaker 1: more of that. And I did immediately correct myself about
- 4:01Speaker 1: the Victoria thing, and he laughed and he said, leave
- 4:03Speaker 1: that in. That's funny.
- 4:04Speaker 2: All right, Well listen, long story short. I'm happy to
- 4:07Speaker 2: stay with the podcast. Then I thought we were going
- 4:09Speaker 2: to levels.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Of you thought the cops might be called nearly.
- 4:13Speaker 2: And I didn't want to be associated with you. No, okay,
- 4:17Speaker 2: aiding in a bedding and all that sort of stuff
- 4:18Speaker 2: I've done the good yeah, relieved day.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Yes, usually listen to those sorts of things.
- 4:25Speaker 3: No, but Liz can't be as cheeky anymore as you are,
- 4:28Speaker 3: so that was perfect.
- 4:30Speaker 2: Please probably have a thousand other things to do on
- 4:32Speaker 2: the weekend, no doubt.
- 4:34Speaker 3: Just a little yes. I mean Mother's Day, Oh, happy
- 4:37Speaker 3: Mother's Day to.
- 4:38Speaker 1: You crazy kids.
- 4:40Speaker 2: I got a lovely video from your sister and showed
- 4:43Speaker 2: me all around your house? How many people did you
- 4:45Speaker 2: have Mother's Day?
- 4:47Speaker 3: Oh, it wasn't my house, it was one of Yeah,
- 4:50Speaker 3: one of my friends, one of my beautiful friends who
- 4:54Speaker 3: she's Canadian and her daughter and my daughter are best friends.
- 4:58Speaker 3: And when they started to be friends, actually she just
- 5:01Speaker 3: knew me as Liz Evelyn's mom. So, yeah, we saw
- 5:05Speaker 3: each other socially and we've got each other's house. Yeah,
- 5:10Speaker 3: one year. We've been friends from our other girls. We've
- 5:12Speaker 3: been friends about six months and we've seen each other
- 5:14Speaker 3: a few times and she rang me one day and
- 5:16Speaker 3: she goes, I am so sorry. I was like, what
- 5:19Speaker 3: do you mean? She goes, I'm so sorry?
- 5:21Speaker 2: I said, dash, what.
- 5:22Speaker 3: Do you mean? She was like, I've just found out
- 5:26Speaker 3: who you are? And I'm so sorry I didn't know,
- 5:28Speaker 3: and I'm like, I couldn't care less. I'm Evelyn's mom, right.
- 5:30Speaker 3: So she was just so mortified that we've been friends
- 5:34Speaker 3: for six months and she had no sense of who
- 5:37Speaker 3: I was until I went to one of her Christmas
- 5:39Speaker 3: parties and one of her friends came into the kitchen
- 5:42Speaker 3: and said, how come Liz Ellis is here? And she goes,
- 5:44Speaker 3: who's lose Ellis out there? She's like, oh no, she's
- 5:47Speaker 3: here because she's Evelyn's mum, And so that has just
- 5:50Speaker 3: become just a funniest story between us, since she loves
- 5:53Speaker 3: telling people that. But she had a beautiful party and
- 5:55Speaker 3: she's the sort of person that I'd love to get
- 5:58Speaker 3: your input on this, right, So when she says come
- 6:02Speaker 3: over and you say what can I bring and she
- 6:04Speaker 3: says or nothing, I started off thinking, well, she means nothing.
- 6:09Speaker 2: Nothing does.
- 6:10Speaker 3: But then if I say to her, don't bring anything,
- 6:12Speaker 3: she comes with a Niveol's plate and a big bunch
- 6:15Speaker 3: of flowers, and so I'm like, yeah, I love those
- 6:19Speaker 3: people too, but I also feel bad that I'm not
- 6:21Speaker 3: one of those people. And when she says nothing, I'm like,
- 6:23Speaker 3: oh great, I can just turn up and drink wine. Fantastic.
- 6:25Speaker 3: So which way do you two fall?
- 6:27Speaker 1: When I take something? I always take something, always take wine, obviously,
- 6:34Speaker 1: but doing it's helpful to me if you don't bring anything,
- 6:39Speaker 1: because at that stage I've not thought about what I'm
- 6:41Speaker 1: serving you, so it's like I have to make a
- 6:44Speaker 1: decision in that moment to ask you to bring something.
- 6:46Speaker 1: So I would actually rather just come over bring nothing,
- 6:49Speaker 1: because then I'll work it out the day before what
- 6:51Speaker 1: I'm serving, and I'll organize it all and it takes
- 6:53Speaker 1: a bit of pressure off me to not have to
- 6:55Speaker 1: worry about it. So I'm a don't bring anything.
- 6:59Speaker 2: I would say, but I would always take something.
- 7:01Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, so I always take like a nice bottle
- 7:05Speaker 3: of wine or champagne. But I think I need to
- 7:07Speaker 3: up my game and at least take flowers or something
- 7:09Speaker 3: like that too, don't I.
- 7:10Speaker 2: What about egg hard takes? Does she?
- 7:13Speaker 1: Is she farmer?
- 7:15Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 7:15Speaker 1: No, eggs.
- 7:17Speaker 3: I should take some eggs, that's right, because we are
- 7:19Speaker 3: drowning in eggs now. We have fifteen hundred ChIL chickens,
- 7:22Speaker 3: so you know.
- 7:23Speaker 2: God, why do you live so far away? I'd take
- 7:25Speaker 2: your eggs.
- 7:26Speaker 3: Okay, we've only got twenty four chalks, but we still
- 7:29Speaker 3: need yes reserves.
- 7:30Speaker 4: Last time I.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Was at your place, I said to Evelyn, can I
- 7:32Speaker 1: have some eggs? And she said, I don't have any
- 7:34Speaker 1: because one of her customers, your friend, they need eight
- 7:38Speaker 1: dozen eggs a week.
- 7:40Speaker 3: Yes, for their son who's vegetarian, so he just gets
- 7:44Speaker 3: his protein hit with eggs. I didn't and Evelyn, but
- 7:48Speaker 3: everyone sells them cheap, like for six bucks of carton
- 7:51Speaker 3: and I said, I reckon, these guys are on selling
- 7:53Speaker 3: for twelve bucks a carton. I don't think they there.
- 7:57Speaker 2: A week.
- 7:58Speaker 3: So she had to go and negotiate last week. And
- 8:00Speaker 3: it was so good for her to go and negotiate
- 8:02Speaker 3: a price increase, and we talked about what she was
- 8:05Speaker 3: going to say, and we practiced it, and then I
- 8:07Speaker 3: dropped her off and I was waiting in the car
- 8:09Speaker 3: outside and she came back in. I said, how'd you go?
- 8:11Speaker 3: She said, yeah, good, I just didn't find up the script.
- 8:13Speaker 3: I just letted everything out. And this woman said, yeah, okay,
- 8:17Speaker 3: that's fine.
- 8:19Speaker 2: They did one thing that it hasn't escalated in price.
- 8:21Speaker 2: And did she throw in the cost of mum Mum's
- 8:23Speaker 2: petrol to drive it to that?
- 8:24Speaker 3: Yeah? The first place, you know, Yeah, you had your
- 8:27Speaker 3: eggs are at home delivered and you know the cost
- 8:30Speaker 3: of so she said, the cost of petrol's gone off,
- 8:32Speaker 3: and the cost of buying chicken food's gone off, and
- 8:35Speaker 3: we've had to buy new choks and all that sort
- 8:37Speaker 3: of stuff. So it's again like my kids don't get
- 8:39Speaker 3: pocket money. They get money from selling their eggs, so
- 8:42Speaker 3: that they have to learn how to run a business.
- 8:44Speaker 3: They're not great. Yeah, well they're not great att following
- 8:48Speaker 3: up their debtors and monitoring their cash flow situation. But
- 8:51Speaker 3: anyway that can improve, I.
- 8:53Speaker 2: Reckon we she'd get a chicken and leave it here?
- 8:55Speaker 1: Oh do you?
- 8:56Speaker 2: Yeah, well you've got.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Like that's not enough, no dribble shit at my house.
- 9:00Speaker 2: We know have to label it. You've got so much
- 9:03Speaker 2: nice grass over butt we got a couple.
- 9:06Speaker 1: As soon as we get a chicken, we won't have
- 9:08Speaker 1: nice grass. And have you seen people who have chickens
- 9:11Speaker 1: in their backyard? It's like a moonscape back there, like
- 9:13Speaker 1: if you want, if you want lawn, I don't think
- 9:16Speaker 1: having chicken. I would quite like to have chickens, but
- 9:18Speaker 1: I also don't want to have foxes so or more rats.
- 9:23Speaker 1: So I just have my worm farm and I'm happy
- 9:26Speaker 1: with that. I have to tell you something I did
- 9:28Speaker 1: on Friday. I went to a Mother's day lunch and
- 9:31Speaker 1: it was the last one. My son's finishing high school
- 9:34Speaker 1: and he's at a Catholic boys school and they have
- 9:36Speaker 1: this annual lunch and it's at Doltone House, which is,
- 9:39Speaker 1: of course where we were for the Swift dinner just
- 9:41Speaker 1: a few weeks ago. So I wandered up there and
- 9:44Speaker 1: I was told by one of the mums, I'm on
- 9:47Speaker 1: a table with We're on table eleven. And I got
- 9:49Speaker 1: up there, all these big balloons and they had the
- 9:51Speaker 1: table number and I wanded up and I couldn't see
- 9:53Speaker 1: anyone sort of wandered around and then went to someone
- 9:57Speaker 1: and said, oh, do I need to get my name
- 9:58Speaker 1: tank for table eleven here? And she said no, no,
- 10:01Speaker 1: this is year eleven. I said, I'm year twelve and
- 10:04Speaker 1: she said, okay, well you're inside. So I went inside.
- 10:07Speaker 1: And then I was at the door and I was
- 10:09Speaker 1: just about to go in. Someone was about to hand
- 10:11Speaker 1: me a champagne and I said, since when do we
- 10:14Speaker 1: have a junior school? Because I just worked out, well,
- 10:16Speaker 1: if they've got a balloon for year eleven and a
- 10:18Speaker 1: balloon for year twelve, why are they're five and six?
- 10:20Speaker 1: And this one was saying to me, Oh, yeah, they've
- 10:22Speaker 1: always had it. And I said, I was it out
- 10:23Speaker 1: in the country because it's a boarding school that services
- 10:26Speaker 1: a lot of No. No, it's just near the North Gate
- 10:28Speaker 1: And I went are we talking about Joey's? And it
- 10:32Speaker 1: was an entirely different school and there are two doll
- 10:37Speaker 1: tone houses, and the mothers at this school look exactly
- 10:43Speaker 1: like the mothers at the school that I did. It's
- 10:45Speaker 1: another all boys private school, so I just trotted up
- 10:49Speaker 1: the road there and.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Yeah, oh, did they have better champagne at that one?
- 10:54Speaker 1: I don't think so called that way, but i'd even
- 10:56Speaker 1: in all of the communications that had been like, take
- 10:58Speaker 1: note because there's two tone houses, and I went, yeah,
- 11:01Speaker 1: I know that, I know there's two doll tone houses.
- 11:04Speaker 1: And it's like, oh, okay, I'm in completely the wrong place.
- 11:08Speaker 1: But they did. The school did something wonderful at this lunch.
- 11:12Speaker 1: So it's a fundraiser for their country kids, the bursaries
- 11:15Speaker 1: for the kids from the country to be able to
- 11:16Speaker 1: come and board. But halfway through lunch, and this is
- 11:21Speaker 1: a fairly well liquored crowd at this stage, they said,
- 11:25Speaker 1: look under the table, and under the table is an
- 11:28Speaker 1: envelope and each one of us had a handwritten card
- 11:32Speaker 1: from our son for mothers and it's a fundraiser, so
- 11:36Speaker 1: how do you reckon? The tears went and then the
- 11:39Speaker 1: bidding on the buying of the raffle tickets just went
- 11:43Speaker 1: straight up then.
- 11:44Speaker 4: But it was lovely.
- 11:45Speaker 1: It was a really nice stuff. Yea and one of
- 11:48Speaker 1: the deputy principals said he hadn't done his job in
- 11:50Speaker 1: three weeks because he was chasing eleven hundred Mother's Day
- 11:54Speaker 1: cards for repeated from boys A bit.
- 12:00Speaker 2: I had a Mother's Day with no child, not all.
- 12:04Speaker 2: I didn't mind it.
- 12:05Speaker 1: Well, if you didn't have to work, it would have
- 12:06Speaker 1: been better, I suppose, wouldn't it.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Well, yeah, I did have to work, but it was
- 12:09Speaker 2: also such a special weekend. And I know Paige Hadley
- 12:12Speaker 2: didn't specifically play on Mother's Day, but played on Mother's
- 12:16Speaker 2: Day weekend. Ten and a half week old baby Tally
- 12:19Speaker 2: was there, mate, I know, and this is why I
- 12:22Speaker 2: wanted her to hold him in the interview we did,
- 12:25Speaker 2: because people could see so tiny, how little he still is,
- 12:29Speaker 2: and how great to see her back. She has been
- 12:32Speaker 2: copying it from making a decision to go back and
- 12:35Speaker 2: play from mothers, from other mothers, saying that you're a
- 12:39Speaker 2: mother now, that she'd be all this carry on, it
- 12:42Speaker 2: really pissed me off. Fuck off, went like ceriously when
- 12:46Speaker 2: she told me that's her child, it's her body, it's
- 12:49Speaker 2: pretty much her decision.
- 12:50Speaker 1: She was asking the baby to play Sun Corpse, Supernenball,
- 12:53Speaker 1: you know, unbelievable.
- 12:56Speaker 2: But she so. I gave her a hard mothers to
- 12:59Speaker 2: a dress, you know, and she trained right up to
- 13:02Speaker 2: the end. She's had all the medical advice, the clearances.
- 13:06Speaker 2: It's not like she's just rocked up to play. Such
- 13:10Speaker 2: naive comments that drove me nuts. Anyway, it was the
- 13:14Speaker 2: best thing. The raw from the crowd came on. It
- 13:18Speaker 2: was so good, all emotional about the fact that she's
- 13:20Speaker 2: back on court. But she's now got her son that'll
- 13:22Speaker 2: be able to watch her play. Obviously he's a little
- 13:24Speaker 2: bit older, but so great.
- 13:26Speaker 1: It was so it was such a joyful night. First
- 13:28Speaker 1: of all, as a Swifts fan, not had a lot
- 13:31Speaker 1: of wins to celebrate this season, but it was pride
- 13:33Speaker 1: round and the and the whole bowl of ken Rosewall
- 13:36Speaker 1: Arena was with there were different colored rainbow balls seat
- 13:40Speaker 1: cover things, and then everyone was using them as the
- 13:43Speaker 1: whoop tail and it was just it was really joyful.
- 13:48Speaker 1: It was a wonderful day. It was a great game.
- 13:52Speaker 1: One of the dribblers, high Callen, didn't bring two miniature
- 13:58Speaker 1: bottles of gin into Kraa for me because that's not allowed,
- 14:02Speaker 1: but thanks anyway, Callan. And it was lovely to meet
- 14:05Speaker 1: you and Ryan and Linley with the amazing hair. And
- 14:07Speaker 1: I also met Ashervn's mum. That was lovely. They know
- 14:10Speaker 1: a way to your heart and they do know the way.
- 14:13Speaker 1: But I had a lady, I have a suggestion for
- 14:16Speaker 1: next week because the net was quite tight, so the
- 14:19Speaker 1: ball got stuck there every time and I and it
- 14:22Speaker 1: just made me looking at the ball hanging there and
- 14:25Speaker 1: then eventually coming out. It made me think, well, we've
- 14:27Speaker 1: got all these babies around at the moment, why don't
- 14:30Speaker 1: we pass those through the net, Because I know that
- 14:33Speaker 1: they do a pretty good job of expanding things to
- 14:36Speaker 1: allow other things to fall through so well and when
- 14:40Speaker 1: to save Courtney Bruce a lot of time shaking the post.
- 14:42Speaker 2: And do you remember if there was a World Cup
- 14:44Speaker 2: we played lease, I can't remember where it was, but
- 14:46Speaker 2: one the nets both ends every single shot and you're
- 14:51Speaker 2: not allowed to shake the post. Our managers to crack
- 14:53Speaker 2: it out us if we touch the post or shook
- 14:55Speaker 2: the post because it would mean it would start to
- 14:57Speaker 2: get loose. They ended up having to have a kid
- 14:59Speaker 2: with the dick like a broom handle sitting at the court. Yeah, seriously,
- 15:04Speaker 2: every single goal should get the brooinstick and knock the
- 15:07Speaker 2: ball out of the hole.
- 15:09Speaker 1: So because I know there's interference with the post and whatever,
- 15:13Speaker 1: but there's no there's no choice other than to give.
- 15:15Speaker 3: A little bit of a wabble to release it.
- 15:17Speaker 2: Well not unless you get your elevation up and about well,
- 15:20Speaker 2: I think you could reach.
- 15:21Speaker 1: I don't know anything about that, and you know that.
- 15:26Speaker 1: But anyway, just that was a little bit of a
- 15:28Speaker 1: suggestion of mine. Let's use some of these babies that
- 15:30Speaker 1: are lying around.
- 15:32Speaker 2: Yeah, and there's plenty of them lying around.
- 15:34Speaker 3: Well this is true. Well they're not really lying around.
- 15:36Speaker 3: Some of them are in the face of crawling and moving.
- 15:39Speaker 3: So you know, there's that next thing happening. Interesting about
- 15:42Speaker 3: Paige Hadley, I can't imagine people would be saying that
- 15:44Speaker 3: sort of thing to a rugby league player or an AFL.
- 15:47Speaker 3: You know, you're a dad now, you shouldn't been doing this.
- 15:50Speaker 3: So I'm sad for Page that she copped a bit
- 15:53Speaker 3: of that. And I don't know why people feel the
- 15:56Speaker 3: need to bring down women like that, Like pag is
- 15:58Speaker 3: amazing and I love so. When we were playing cas
- 16:02Speaker 3: like Jeanine Nilich was the only person who have kids
- 16:06Speaker 3: and Jack.
- 16:08Speaker 1: And that's so we could have a team of them.
- 16:12Speaker 3: Which is amazing. Right, there's there's not a lot right
- 16:14Speaker 3: whereas now, like I think our sport is so progressive
- 16:18Speaker 3: and so supportive and I just want to celebrate that.
- 16:21Speaker 3: I just, man, everyone just needs to take a chill
- 16:24Speaker 3: pill in this world.
- 16:25Speaker 1: And mind their own Danning business. Can we get back
- 16:28Speaker 1: to being a society where we just minded our own business.
- 16:31Speaker 2: You can think that and keep it in your head.
- 16:33Speaker 1: Yes, exactly. Yeah.
- 16:35Speaker 3: Again, that's social media things that people used to say
- 16:38Speaker 3: in their land room. I think they can say directly
- 16:40Speaker 3: to the person.
- 16:41Speaker 1: You know, just, isn't it.
- 16:44Speaker 3: I thought it was great seeing pageback, seeing you know,
- 16:46Speaker 3: the stories about Maddi Prowt and Mannix and Shamira Starlier.
- 16:49Speaker 3: I'm like, oh my god, this is what our sport does.
- 16:51Speaker 3: It's so good. These women are just paving the way
- 16:54Speaker 3: and they're not showing that everything's perfect. Like Shamira has
- 16:56Speaker 3: done a fantastic job saying this is hard and I
- 17:00Speaker 3: am working through this. So that again is a reason
- 17:03Speaker 3: to celebrate, not for her to be hidden away somewhere,
- 17:06Speaker 3: you know, not talking about it. I just think, you know,
- 17:09Speaker 3: our sport is so good for providing a space for
- 17:13Speaker 3: these women to be both amazing athletes and mothers and
- 17:16Speaker 3: to bring all of the things that come with that
- 17:18Speaker 3: and to talk about it. It's phenomenal.
- 17:20Speaker 1: How good would Sue Gordion's interview with Shamira sensation I've gotten? Yeah,
- 17:24Speaker 1: I was just about to say exactly the same thing.
- 17:26Speaker 1: I thought it was handled so well, and I just
- 17:28Speaker 1: I want to thank shamira' starling Humphrey because she could
- 17:31Speaker 1: have hidden this from us. They're a very you know,
- 17:36Speaker 1: soreness in the leg whatever, you know, there are plenty
- 17:38Speaker 1: of ways if you need to take time off that
- 17:40Speaker 1: the club can message that for us. But she has
- 17:42Speaker 1: been generous to share her experience about how difficult it
- 17:48Speaker 1: has been to have a small child, and I think
- 17:52Speaker 1: that's really generous of her, and I hope that it
- 17:55Speaker 1: encourages other women one to know they're not alone if
- 17:59Speaker 1: they're experience seeing post natal depression or related symptoms, but
- 18:03Speaker 1: two to feel comfortable talking about that and sharing it.
- 18:07Speaker 1: And I think it's been an incredibly generous thing. Am
- 18:11Speaker 1: Mannix on the weekend. It was great to see yesterday
- 18:15Speaker 1: on the front page of The Harolds. Harold's son or Herold,
- 18:18Speaker 1: which one is here the Sunday Sydney Morning Harold in
- 18:21Speaker 1: Sydney had made Proud and the Sunday Age had a
- 18:24Speaker 1: Mannix on the front and Emily Mannix was talking about,
- 18:28Speaker 1: you know, it was a difficult birth for Mabel and
- 18:31Speaker 1: they had some scary times there. And again, how wonderful
- 18:35Speaker 1: that they that she is sharing that and letting other
- 18:39Speaker 1: young mothers know, because it's not a walk in the
- 18:42Speaker 1: park for everybody, you know, in fact, it's not a
- 18:44Speaker 1: bloody walk in the park for anybody. So I'm very
- 18:47Speaker 1: grateful to them, and I admire I admire these women enormously.
- 18:53Speaker 2: Yes here next, yes here here.
- 18:57Speaker 1: On a slightly more serious note, and I think we
- 18:59Speaker 1: need to talk about this now and talking about keeping
- 19:03Speaker 1: things in your head. A very serious incident is alleged
- 19:07Speaker 1: to have happened at an under twelves netball game in
- 19:11Speaker 1: Marubra in Sydney on the weekend and it is a
- 19:14Speaker 1: police matter, so we can't talk about that. Just wanted
- 19:17Speaker 1: to extend our support to the Jewish community and just
- 19:23Speaker 1: to reiterate netball and children's sport needs to be a
- 19:28Speaker 1: space that is safe for children, that children feel safe
- 19:33Speaker 1: and welcome, whatever their religion or their background, and it
- 19:38Speaker 1: is entirely inappropriate for anyone to be making comments that
- 19:43Speaker 1: make children feel unsafe in that environment. And enormous love
- 19:48Speaker 1: to the Jewish community, particularly of Sydney and in the
- 19:51Speaker 1: Eastern suburbs, who have had such a very, very difficult time, and.
- 19:58Speaker 3: We're with you, yeah, beautifully, said Marylyn. And I don't
- 20:01Speaker 3: want to say too much because actually the Leeds spokesperson
- 20:04Speaker 3: on this for Netball Australia is Mark Falvo, who is
- 20:06Speaker 3: the interim CEO, and he put out a statement on
- 20:09Speaker 3: behalf of Netball Australia yesterday and if you want to
- 20:12Speaker 3: see it, you can actually go to the Netball Australian website.
- 20:14Speaker 3: Just go to netball dot com dot au just look
- 20:16Speaker 3: under the news tab and you'll see his statement. It
- 20:20Speaker 3: really does sum up where the organization sits on this,
- 20:22Speaker 3: which is that in our game there's no place for
- 20:25Speaker 3: hate speech, racism or discrimination at any level, and where
- 20:29Speaker 3: such behavior occurs, there are processes in place to respond,
- 20:33Speaker 3: and that initial response has been that the person who
- 20:35Speaker 3: is alleged to have made the comments has been provisionally
- 20:38Speaker 3: suspended from attending or participating in any netball activities or
- 20:41Speaker 3: attending netball locations while the matter is investigated. So I
- 20:46Speaker 3: guess for me, I just want people to remember that
- 20:51Speaker 3: kids sport is kids sport and.
- 20:54Speaker 2: The meat train.
- 20:55Speaker 3: I often have these conversations that kid sport will be
- 20:58Speaker 3: so much easier with our parents because kids just want
- 21:00Speaker 3: to play and they want to have fun. Right, So
- 21:03Speaker 3: if you're on a sideline and you see or hear
- 21:05Speaker 3: anything that may be impacting anyone, please step in in
- 21:09Speaker 3: a really responsible way. We'll go and speak to someone
- 21:11Speaker 3: with the authority to step in if you feel like
- 21:14Speaker 3: that's not a safe thing to do. But maybe we
- 21:17Speaker 3: all should just remember that the only thing you should
- 21:19Speaker 3: be saying from the sideline and a kid's sport game
- 21:21Speaker 3: is well done. Yeah, good effort. Who wants who wants
- 21:26Speaker 3: some red frogs?
- 21:28Speaker 1: But you're here?
- 21:30Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly right. So you know, just really, a kids
- 21:33Speaker 3: sport is kids sport and let the kids just have
- 21:36Speaker 3: a good time. So there's a process underway. Netball Australia
- 21:40Speaker 3: has put out a statement through the Interim CEO and
- 21:43Speaker 3: go and have a look at that if you want
- 21:44Speaker 3: to know sort of what the organization is saying. About
- 21:47Speaker 3: this alleged incident.
- 21:49Speaker 1: And I think we'd like to send a message to
- 21:51Speaker 1: the Macabi Netball Club.
- 21:52Speaker 3: Too, absolutely, and to those players who are either there
- 21:57Speaker 3: or a part of that club, you are valued, you
- 21:59Speaker 3: are welcome, We love that you play netbill. I've spent
- 22:02Speaker 3: so much time at Railing Netball Association, free at Netball Association,
- 22:07Speaker 3: and you know, the Mccabi club is a really viable
- 22:11Speaker 3: and great part of that association. So we're just sending
- 22:14Speaker 3: them all that love and support.
- 22:16Speaker 1: Yeah here here, and to the Saints club too. This
- 22:19Speaker 1: is a tough time for everyone, and let's just focus
- 22:23Speaker 1: on getting the kids on court, having a really good
- 22:26Speaker 1: time and loving their sport.
- 22:28Speaker 3: Yeah, that's the most important thing.
- 22:30Speaker 2: All right.
- 22:31Speaker 1: And I'm going to lighten it with a story of
- 22:34Speaker 1: a woman who's done something quite remarkable in the last
- 22:37Speaker 1: couple of days. Two women in fact. I'd like to
- 22:39Speaker 1: talk about Rachel Entrican out of the United States, who
- 22:43Speaker 1: won the Arizona Coconona two hundred and fifty, which is
- 22:46Speaker 1: two hundred and fifty mile race that you do apparently
- 22:50Speaker 1: on your feet. You do not use an aeroplane for
- 22:53Speaker 1: this race. It's in Arizona. She did in fifty six hours,
- 22:57Speaker 1: nine minutes and forty eight seconds. This is the fastest
- 23:00Speaker 1: any human being has ever completed this race. She's not
- 23:04Speaker 1: the fastest woman to do this, she is the fastest
- 23:07Speaker 1: human being to ever complete this having kilometers is four
- 23:11Speaker 1: hundred ish one point six kilometers per mile, so should
- 23:16Speaker 1: have done that maths beforehand. But yeah, I'm thinking that
- 23:19Speaker 1: that's about about wow, yeah, four hundred kilometers.
- 23:24Speaker 2: If she's having a lie down, oh god, you'd hope.
- 23:26Speaker 3: So, yeah, that's amazing. There is some there is some
- 23:32Speaker 3: sort of sports science y and I can't tell you
- 23:35Speaker 3: where my sources are because you know who knows, but
- 23:38Speaker 3: there is I'm sure I've read that. Like as we
- 23:42Speaker 3: go on, like the men's and women's world records for
- 23:45Speaker 3: athletics and swimming and things like that. Again, closer and
- 23:49Speaker 3: closer and closer, and eventually they will they will merge
- 23:52Speaker 3: in like a long way, and as you get closer,
- 23:55Speaker 3: it takes longer for the next step closer, and the
- 23:57Speaker 3: next step closer. But yeah, I know maybe this is
- 24:00Speaker 3: the first part of the merging business.
- 24:02Speaker 1: But I think in these endurance sports, women, particularly middle
- 24:06Speaker 1: aged women, are seen to have an advantage.
- 24:09Speaker 2: So I don't know.
- 24:10Speaker 1: What is that just I don't know, you're just bloody minded.
- 24:12Speaker 1: It's like, this is bullshit. I'm just going to get
- 24:14Speaker 1: this stuff over and done. I got to get back
- 24:17Speaker 1: and do some laundry or something like that. But she
- 24:19Speaker 1: thought her little mantra in this. So her previous best
- 24:22Speaker 1: time was sixty three hours, so she's not four hours
- 24:26Speaker 1: off yet, well, no, like seven hours. She's not not
- 24:29Speaker 1: seven hours off her time. And during the race, she
- 24:32Speaker 1: was thinking someone has to win, so why not believe
- 24:35Speaker 1: that it could be you? And so for fifty six hours,
- 24:39Speaker 1: nine minutes and forty eight seconds, she was thinking, someone
- 24:41Speaker 1: has to win. Why not believe that it could be you?
- 24:44Speaker 2: And it's like, where would you mind wander? I mean
- 24:47Speaker 2: that's really poignant. Yeah, but can you imagine where your
- 24:50Speaker 2: mind will be go onder, particularly at the end when
- 24:53Speaker 2: you're cactice and you're exhausted, you'd be hallucinating.
- 24:57Speaker 1: So she was sleeping while running, she thinks, you know that,
- 25:00Speaker 1: because so she hadn't she had a like a pace
- 25:02Speaker 1: setter with her at all times, obviously a big support
- 25:05Speaker 1: group group for an event like that, and so someone
- 25:07Speaker 1: would run alongside her and then she'd just sort of
- 25:10Speaker 1: veer into.
- 25:10Speaker 2: Oh so that they need the broomsick like the kids
- 25:13Speaker 2: to get the move a little poker very now and then.
- 25:16Speaker 1: But isn't that amazing?
- 25:17Speaker 3: Wow?
- 25:20Speaker 2: Women rock?
- 25:21Speaker 1: But if that, if that world record sounds like too
- 25:23Speaker 1: much for you. The World Flat pac Championships has been
- 25:25Speaker 1: won for a second year in a row by woman
- 25:27Speaker 1: Hayley McCauley out of Wigan, UK. She put together and
- 25:31Speaker 1: I here two draw bedside table in eight minutes and
- 25:34Speaker 1: twenty seconds. I'm sorry.
- 25:37Speaker 2: That I am good to a flat pack. I actually
- 25:40Speaker 2: love the challenge of a flat pack. But that's she
- 25:44Speaker 2: must have done it five thousand times before before they
- 25:47Speaker 2: started the clock for that particular world record. You well,
- 25:49Speaker 2: they have all your ducks in a row. You'd have
- 25:51Speaker 2: to have them all lined up ready, go so looking
- 25:54Speaker 2: in the instructions, turning it upside down.
- 25:57Speaker 1: So this is what last year? Her time was nine
- 25:59Speaker 1: minutes thirty three seconds. So it says to me that
- 26:02Speaker 1: they are using the same piece of furniture like I reckon.
- 26:06Speaker 1: It should just be a complete surprise that this is
- 26:09Speaker 1: some piece of furniture. And you've got the book of
- 26:13Speaker 1: Swedish instructions and you have to drink a bottle of
- 26:17Speaker 1: wine while you're doing it, because that's the way people
- 26:20Speaker 1: really put together flat pack for nuture.
- 26:22Speaker 2: Isn't it. Can you imagine her house? When you go
- 26:24Speaker 2: for dinner, you're sitting on two draws.
- 26:26Speaker 1: The table is two draws, So you're quite good at it.
- 26:29Speaker 2: I love a flat pack, and I very rarely botch them,
- 26:33Speaker 2: very rarely. It does happen. There's a time that the
- 26:37Speaker 2: screws come out the side, much like when I tried
- 26:40Speaker 2: to piece my own ear that time.
- 26:42Speaker 4: Oh when was that?
- 26:43Speaker 2: Just when else at school?
- 26:47Speaker 3: I just segued into a place that I'm not sure
- 26:49Speaker 3: I'm comfortable going screws out of the side. Yes, I
- 26:53Speaker 3: don't mind a flat pack. I like the challenge of them.
- 26:55Speaker 3: The last time I did them, I was putting together
- 26:58Speaker 3: bookshelves and desks for my children, so I made them.
- 27:01Speaker 1: God we arrived that day.
- 27:03Speaker 3: That's right, you did too. I think I think Pete
- 27:05Speaker 3: help was finished it.
- 27:06Speaker 4: I just said, yeah, you said, oh good, Bete, you're here,
- 27:08Speaker 4: give us a hand with this.
- 27:10Speaker 3: Off you go. So actually, well, I'm excellent starting the challenge.
- 27:14Speaker 3: Pete's much better than me.
- 27:15Speaker 2: Y the challenge.
- 27:18Speaker 3: Yeah, and then and then Carolyn, and I sat outside
- 27:20Speaker 3: and drank wine. So yeah, I got them finished with
- 27:22Speaker 3: a bottle of wine. Like that. The intent was good,
- 27:29Speaker 3: get about execution was excellent.
- 27:31Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, you're right. That should be the challenge for sure,
- 27:34Speaker 2: Like every screw is a glass of wine, yeah, or
- 27:37Speaker 2: every glass of wine is a screw.
- 27:41Speaker 1: Well, that's a Saturday night, isn't it all. Why don't
- 27:44Speaker 1: we have a little break and then come back and
- 27:45Speaker 1: talk about some netball?
- 27:47Speaker 4: Yes, okay, in a.
- 28:00Speaker 1: Week, in a month, No, in a season. That's the
- 28:03Speaker 1: word I'm looking for, Carolyn. It is the season of surprises.
- 28:07Speaker 1: This has been another surprising round in that it's actually
- 28:09Speaker 1: gone really differently to quite a few rounds of netball
- 28:13Speaker 1: that we have had in that there were some like
- 28:15Speaker 1: the closest game this weekend was a fourteen goal differential,
- 28:20Speaker 1: and that was between that was when the Swifts run
- 28:23Speaker 1: over lightning.
- 28:24Speaker 2: So surely given those margins, people have got their tips
- 28:27Speaker 2: right this week we'll get to that. But you're right, yeah,
- 28:30Speaker 2: like it was fourteen.
- 28:31Speaker 1: Nineteen if people got it wrong twenty and twenty three. Yeah, yeah,
- 28:35Speaker 1: And like we have seen so many games that have
- 28:38Speaker 1: been decided by one or two goals in this season.
- 28:41Speaker 1: It was just quite surprising, do you know what's funny?
- 28:43Speaker 2: We interviewed Maddie Turner after the game and she said
- 28:47Speaker 2: it was actually I mean, firstly, they're a rap. They
- 28:49Speaker 2: got a wine full stop. But she said it was
- 28:51Speaker 2: actually nice at the end of the game to be
- 28:54Speaker 2: able to breathe and enjoy and enjoy the last like
- 28:57Speaker 2: five minutes because you know you were going to win,
- 28:59Speaker 2: because not many teams have had that luxury this season.
- 29:02Speaker 1: No, although four of them had that luxury this week.
- 29:04Speaker 2: This Yeah, I've got a lot of their systems. I
- 29:07Speaker 2: can't see that happening again.
- 29:09Speaker 1: So you you tipped? How many did you tip this week?
- 29:11Speaker 2: I got all four, did you? Okay? So yeah, the
- 29:15Speaker 2: last minute? Which one I had tipped? The lightning Oh
- 29:19Speaker 2: and then I was with the Swift's midweek and they
- 29:21Speaker 2: had a keynote speaker and everything she said. I thought, oh,
- 29:25Speaker 2: this is what they need to hear this, and so
- 29:27Speaker 2: I changed my tip off the back of that.
- 29:29Speaker 1: Actually interesting. So you were quite confident that the Thunderbirds
- 29:32Speaker 1: were going to go to RC Arena and beat Fever.
- 29:35Speaker 1: Oh I don't know it quite but yeah, okay, yeah,
- 29:38Speaker 1: I was botized by that. Not by twenty I bet
- 29:43Speaker 1: they got in trouble. Dan wouldn't have been happy.
- 29:46Speaker 2: There were some good sprays on the weekend m from coaches,
- 29:49Speaker 2: not surprising giving those big margins. I do love a spray, though,
- 29:54Speaker 2: there's nothing better than not when I don't like getting them, No,
- 29:57Speaker 2: I love to see other people getting them.
- 29:59Speaker 1: So tell me what you're going to do. If you're
- 30:02Speaker 1: narrator at the Giants and one week they're so brilliant
- 30:08Speaker 1: and then the next week they're not, what do you spray?
- 30:11Speaker 2: Do you? Well? If we spoke about this yesterday, because
- 30:16Speaker 2: if you think about the games, they have been good,
- 30:19Speaker 2: no expectation and sure, yeah, yeah, no one expected them
- 30:24Speaker 2: to beat the Thunderbirds, no one expected them to beat
- 30:26Speaker 2: the Vixens. So they can just go there and there's
- 30:29Speaker 2: a level of well, yeah, it's just relax and enjoy ourselves.
- 30:32Speaker 2: When you get to the closer games, I the Mavericks,
- 30:35Speaker 2: the Firebirds, there is a very much a level of
- 30:39Speaker 2: expectation on them, isn't there.
- 30:41Speaker 1: Well, yeah, and I guess they're playing at home. They're
- 30:44Speaker 1: so desperate to give their fans some joy, a reward
- 30:49Speaker 1: for their their loyalty, but yeah, I don't know what
- 30:52Speaker 1: you do if your narrator, because it's like, those girls
- 30:56Speaker 1: have played some really fabulous neck ball this season, those
- 31:00Speaker 1: exact same girls.
- 31:03Speaker 2: The moms had also asked the Mother's Day for a win. Okay,
- 31:07Speaker 2: so that's an enormous amount of.
- 31:08Speaker 1: Pressure, right, Well, that's on Jules and Jeanette, that's on
- 31:13Speaker 1: the mumps.
- 31:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 31:15Speaker 3: I think that with a younger team like that, who
- 31:18Speaker 3: are still finding their confidence in their way, I don't
- 31:21Speaker 3: think you can give them sprays. I think you can
- 31:23Speaker 3: spray at training and demand execution at training, but you
- 31:27Speaker 3: have to sort of walk them through the games and
- 31:31Speaker 3: you can just see like they when they I think
- 31:35Speaker 3: you're so right about that when there's an expectation that
- 31:37Speaker 3: they'll go close. So this is a game we can win.
- 31:40Speaker 3: The execution's different. So but if an older team did
- 31:43Speaker 3: that and had some you know, more experienced players, I
- 31:47Speaker 3: think you can then spray them and sort of pull
- 31:50Speaker 3: them along. But I don't know. I just think narrative
- 31:52Speaker 3: probably still needs to just keep persisting and I think
- 31:56Speaker 3: we've said it before. Just define your success a little
- 31:58Speaker 3: bit differently through each game.
- 32:00Speaker 2: It's tough, though, isn't it because it's not getting any
- 32:03Speaker 2: easier for them. Who did they have coming up? Is
- 32:05Speaker 2: it fever this weekend?
- 32:07Speaker 1: This weekend they're playing five Birds in Queensland, so.
- 32:11Speaker 3: Five birds at home and then it goes like they
- 32:13Speaker 3: go Thunderbirds, Lightning Fever and Swift's last round.
- 32:20Speaker 2: That's tough. I mean, it's tough for any.
- 32:21Speaker 1: Week, isn't it exactly?
- 32:22Speaker 3: I don't know that there's any games that are easy.
- 32:25Speaker 2: No, but well from that game though, let's actually it
- 32:29Speaker 2: wasn't that game.
- 32:30Speaker 1: Don't worry.
- 32:30Speaker 2: It's going to say there were some brilliant milestones over
- 32:32Speaker 2: the weekend that we should be applaued.
- 32:33Speaker 3: Let's talk about those.
- 32:36Speaker 2: Take two hundred, Oh that's a big one. Sarah Cloud
- 32:41Speaker 2: and fifty Andel Walum fifty fantastic. Yay, Dannelum fifty.
- 32:45Speaker 1: I would have thought she was much higher than that.
- 32:47Speaker 2: No, she has, She's had fifty here, she had about
- 32:49Speaker 2: eleven in the UK and hand follow New Zealand. Yeah, okay,
- 32:54Speaker 2: and Sarah class all but eight of her games with
- 32:57Speaker 2: the Swift, so all but eight, who were the other
- 32:59Speaker 2: eight with with Adelaide Thunderbirds.
- 33:01Speaker 1: That's very good, amazing, there is something, there's a big
- 33:06Speaker 1: milestone this week unless something goes awry.
- 33:12Speaker 2: I'm hoping it will go all right because I'm jumping
- 33:15Speaker 2: on a plane to get over there.
- 33:16Speaker 1: Yeah. Well then what happens if it goes away? Are
- 33:19Speaker 1: you're still going?
- 33:20Speaker 2: No, I'm going to I'm going to get over there
- 33:22Speaker 2: and make it go right. Ah, very good.
- 33:24Speaker 1: So I don't think this will come as any surprise
- 33:28Speaker 1: to any Dribblers. But Catherine Cox, as you know, holds,
- 33:31Speaker 1: and has held for twelve years, the record for the
- 33:34Speaker 1: most National League games played ever, and this weekend, assuming
- 33:41Speaker 1: she takes the court and there isn't some type of
- 33:45Speaker 1: harding Nancy Keerrigan incident, and if there is, I'd be
- 33:49Speaker 1: looking straight at Katherine Cox. But Ramelda Ake and George
- 33:52Speaker 1: will equal the record or beat this weekend.
- 33:57Speaker 2: That was a hard pill to swallow, was already anyway,
- 34:00Speaker 2: So this is But the good news is I'm going
- 34:03Speaker 2: to Perth for this game.
- 34:04Speaker 1: That's amazing.
- 34:04Speaker 2: So I am so excited. It'll be such a special
- 34:08Speaker 2: moment and for us both to be there, I think
- 34:10Speaker 2: is really cool. So are you calling that game? So
- 34:13Speaker 2: Gordion is calling and I'll be alongside her. So there's
- 34:16Speaker 2: just it's just going to be all So what will
- 34:19Speaker 2: you be doing. I'll be doing expert and knee capping.
- 34:23Speaker 3: Nice, love it, fantastic.
- 34:25Speaker 1: That's a very exciting one. That's the game against.
- 34:29Speaker 2: The Swift, so huge, huge game, huge game, big game, Champion.
- 34:36Speaker 1: But that's very exciting news. That's hot off the presses too.
- 34:38Speaker 1: Driplet's that that happened. Catherine arrived here for recording and
- 34:41Speaker 1: then got the nod that she's going over to w
- 34:45Speaker 1: A for that this week.
- 34:46Speaker 3: Now that's great. I'm so pleased that you'll be there, Catherine,
- 34:48Speaker 3: because it's such a massive thing and what und amelder.
- 34:51Speaker 1: Yeah, and this record may never be broken again, who knows.
- 34:56Speaker 1: Like that's a lot, a lot of and she's being
- 35:00Speaker 1: all together by a lot of tape and compression garments
- 35:03Speaker 1: at the moment, so it does take a lot for
- 35:06Speaker 1: the body. A reminder that Ramelda aken George was playing
- 35:10Speaker 1: when Liz Ellis was playing. So yeah, that's right, it's Elizabeth.
- 35:15Speaker 3: That's right. That's crazy. It's remarkable, isn't it.
- 35:19Speaker 1: Yeah, something's happened with the time space continuum because I
- 35:23Speaker 1: don't know how those two things can can't exist.
- 35:26Speaker 3: No, I see things sometimes because I like to follow
- 35:28Speaker 3: some science things on Instagram, and I see things pop
- 35:31Speaker 3: up saying that there's no such thing as time, and
- 35:34Speaker 3: everything that's ever happened is still happening, and everything's going
- 35:37Speaker 3: to happen has happened, and.
- 35:39Speaker 1: Trying to talk to me about this stuff. It's like,
- 35:40Speaker 1: you're just doing my head in, Like such thing as time?
- 35:45Speaker 1: Why am I so stressed all the time?
- 35:48Speaker 2: It was on about this somewhere doesn't wear a watch.
- 35:52Speaker 2: I saw this on some show. She doesn't wear a watch.
- 35:55Speaker 2: She doesn't believe in time, And they're like, how did
- 35:57Speaker 2: you get to the interview today on time? Then you
- 36:00Speaker 2: have to tell me.
- 36:01Speaker 1: So we've just Neil deGrasse Tyson to Mariah Carey without
- 36:06Speaker 1: any passage of time elapsing, thereby showing us that there
- 36:10Speaker 1: is no time, that it is exactly right, everything is
- 36:13Speaker 1: existing all at once.
- 36:15Speaker 3: I think that Romeld has figured it out, That's what
- 36:17Speaker 3: I'm saying, like the rest of us enough, he is
- 36:19Speaker 3: trying to grapple with it. She's figured it out at
- 36:21Speaker 3: his surfing time forwards back yeap, clearly.
- 36:25Speaker 1: Like there's something, there's something going on, and she does
- 36:28Speaker 1: she keeps trying to retire, doesn't she so yeah, who
- 36:32Speaker 1: knows what will happen? Oh if she had retired then sorry,
- 36:36Speaker 1: he started.
- 36:37Speaker 2: Do you know what Harper said though, like ten year
- 36:39Speaker 2: olds just come out of retirement and play a couple
- 36:41Speaker 2: of games, Brian, have you well?
- 36:43Speaker 1: We did get an invitation this week to go and
- 36:46Speaker 1: play some masters netball in Cans. We did next year, yeah,
- 36:51Speaker 1: dribblers yet no, the three of us, yes, because this
- 36:55Speaker 1: is something we had talked about and in a very
- 36:58Speaker 1: old episode. So someone'sbviously surfing through a bit of our
- 37:02Speaker 1: back catalog and said, how great, because we'd said, yeah,
- 37:05Speaker 1: we should go to a master's comp and doesn't can
- 37:07Speaker 1: sound nice? And now I've got an official invitation from
- 37:10Speaker 1: someone in Cans for us to go and play a
- 37:13Speaker 1: network I'm not sure. Maybe she hasn't been listening to
- 37:16Speaker 1: the podcast for long enough to understand exactly how hopeless
- 37:20Speaker 1: I was at my peak. But anyway, everyone needs a.
- 37:23Speaker 2: Wing defense, they do. Yeah, it's true.
- 37:26Speaker 1: Maybe anyway, I'll put it in the group chat and
- 37:29Speaker 1: then you won't read it.
- 37:34Speaker 2: To be fair, It depends on when you sent it through.
- 37:36Speaker 2: Was it on the weekend?
- 37:38Speaker 1: I can't remember, No, it was last week sometimes anyway, Sorry,
- 37:42Speaker 1: we'll talk about that bugrouse over. I've moved on, but
- 37:45Speaker 1: let me talk about a competition. Haven't moved I know,
- 37:48Speaker 1: I haven't moved on. You know what I hold I
- 37:50Speaker 1: will hold a grudge till I die. The group chaut grudge.
- 37:54Speaker 1: The valord of this tipping comp is things are getting
- 37:58Speaker 1: exciting there. So we still have the same three dribblers
- 38:01Speaker 1: occupying the top of the ladder, but there has been
- 38:04Speaker 1: a switch between one and two. So this week at
- 38:07Speaker 1: the very top of the ladder is Firstborns followed by CJ,
- 38:11Speaker 1: followed by Off to the pub, and they're all on
- 38:13Speaker 1: forty one points and then we have two people on
- 38:16Speaker 1: thirty nine points, so there's a bit of a golf there.
- 38:18Speaker 1: Dave O two nine two and thundering all the way.
- 38:22Speaker 1: Our tipper of the week, and I know what you
- 38:24Speaker 1: want to know, Catherine, and I will get will get shortly.
- 38:30Speaker 1: Our tipper of the week is the long arm of Sammy.
- 38:32Speaker 1: So you are getting a fifty dollars valive oucher coming
- 38:36Speaker 1: your way, Sammy, which you'd be happy to get that
- 38:40Speaker 1: this week because you are a Giants fan, so you
- 38:43Speaker 1: you need a bit of ball string, get some get
- 38:45Speaker 1: some sweet Giants merch, but one hundred and seventy one
- 38:50Speaker 1: people got Bingo got all five right. This week no
- 38:53Speaker 1: one got six. By the looks of things, no one.
- 38:55Speaker 1: No one picked the margin. But on the Hosts and
- 38:58Speaker 1: Heroes ladder, which is what Catherine's jumping up and down
- 39:01Speaker 1: in excitement all about. We have a clear leader now,
- 39:05Speaker 1: Darryl the stats man Listen has moved to ahead. He's
- 39:08Speaker 1: on thirty six points. Hell by tipping correctly and getting
- 39:13Speaker 1: the points, do you not understand how the system went?
- 39:16Speaker 1: So it's a fairly straightforward competition.
- 39:18Speaker 2: Did he get Bingo this week? Obviously, yeah, I've got Bingo.
- 39:21Speaker 1: He's yes, he got Bengo this week, so, but he
- 39:23Speaker 1: didn't pick the margin. Last week he got six because
- 39:26Speaker 1: he hicked the margin as well. So in second place
- 39:29Speaker 1: you and Bascinator equally on thirty four points. And then
- 39:33Speaker 1: there's been a bit of a shift because Alexa Alexa
- 39:37Speaker 1: has moved down the ladder, Gordy has moved up the ladder.
- 39:40Speaker 1: The two of them are equal on thirty two points.
- 39:43Speaker 1: I have leapfrogged Kiley Devery and on twenty six. We're
- 39:47Speaker 1: both on twenty six points, but I'm ahead of her
- 39:49Speaker 1: and Liz rounds us out at eighteen, but she only
- 39:52Speaker 1: tips the home change. I know it's and remember the
- 39:56Speaker 1: stakes are very low in the Hosts and Heroes Ladder
- 40:01Speaker 1: that there's not actually anything on the line. So something
- 40:05Speaker 1: that is exciting is that I'm going to the Grand
- 40:07Speaker 1: Final with the Statsman and Bascinator. We've got coin, We've
- 40:12Speaker 1: got a little crew going together, all met through the
- 40:14Speaker 1: beautiful community that is the Dribblers.
- 40:18Speaker 2: And I did some online shopping this morning because I
- 40:21Speaker 2: had a chat with Niki Conway Buckley.
- 40:23Speaker 1: Yeah what did you buy?
- 40:26Speaker 2: Why did you buy stuff? We messaging?
- 40:29Speaker 1: Okay, well, she is looking pretty good for the Golden
- 40:32Speaker 1: Turkey at this stage. Tonay is obviously trying very hard
- 40:36Speaker 1: to challenge her for that. But Nicki is sitting in outright,
- 40:41Speaker 1: outright last on nine points, and she's obviously worked out
- 40:46Speaker 1: the secret strategy, which is make the margin so ridiculous
- 40:50Speaker 1: that it could never be that, and so you take
- 40:52Speaker 1: that in case you can't ever accidentally get.
- 40:55Speaker 2: It not a nine goal win.
- 40:58Speaker 1: Yeah, so don't forget to get your tips in. I
- 41:01Speaker 1: had a panic on Friday when we had a Friday
- 41:03Speaker 1: night game. So but anyway, and just while we're talking
- 41:07Speaker 1: about the beautiful Ribbler community. Ticket sales for our Penrith event,
- 41:11Speaker 1: which is on the fourth of June. They have to
- 41:12Speaker 1: close on the twenty ninth of May, so that's coming up.
- 41:16Speaker 1: That's only a couple of weeks ago. Weeks ago. It's
- 41:19Speaker 1: not a weeks ago. It's weeks away, Carolyn, that's forward
- 41:22Speaker 1: in time. I need Mariah Carey to explain to me
- 41:24Speaker 1: how time works. Don't know. Anyway, So jump on tribooking
- 41:28Speaker 1: and get your tickets for our event because it's shaping
- 41:31Speaker 1: up to be super fun. All right, we'll have a
- 41:34Speaker 1: quick break, Okay, so it's an early time for us
- 41:48Speaker 1: to go. We are running a long I did have
- 41:51Speaker 1: I would like your views on this suggestion. You know,
- 41:54Speaker 1: I'm always thinking about how the game can be improved.
- 41:56Speaker 1: I've put in my survey response for Netball Australia. I
- 41:59Speaker 1: put in something about rewarding fans who go to away
- 42:03Speaker 1: games into state to follow their team. I think that
- 42:05Speaker 1: would be good. But also I'm a little bit keen
- 42:08Speaker 1: to see a cap on the number of internationals in
- 42:10Speaker 1: each team. But anyway, that's not what I want to
- 42:12Speaker 1: talk about. What I want to talk about is my
- 42:15Speaker 1: husband's suggestion, and he said if he was a goalkeeper,
- 42:20Speaker 1: he would not wear the odorant for a week before
- 42:22Speaker 1: the game.
- 42:23Speaker 2: Hmmm, interesting, should be the shooter that doesn't wear it? Why, well,
- 42:29Speaker 2: you got your hands up shooting the whole time.
- 42:31Speaker 1: Yeah, but do you know how goalkeeping works?
- 42:33Speaker 2: Also?
- 42:33Speaker 1: Arms go up there too.
- 42:34Speaker 2: No, I know, but these ones are up. Those ones
- 42:36Speaker 2: are like this. Yeah, there's more chance of this odor
- 42:38Speaker 2: getting out. You see what's happening. Yeah, it is a
- 42:40Speaker 2: weodan on the song thank you.
- 42:42Speaker 1: But so we were talking about this, but the shooters
- 42:45Speaker 1: the one who needs to be accurate in that moment.
- 42:47Speaker 1: So like if you throw them off with some god
- 42:50Speaker 1: almighty stanch, does that not?
- 42:52Speaker 2: Do you know what works a treat, Lizzy is to
- 42:54Speaker 2: do this at training every now and then when we
- 42:56Speaker 2: got to about the nearly the two hour mark and
- 42:59Speaker 2: we lose our mind. Is that when you're going to shoot,
- 43:02Speaker 2: you pretend to tickle them. I hate being tickled and
- 43:06Speaker 2: would always flinch. That's a good one.
- 43:09Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure you'd get like a contact call for that, though,
- 43:13Speaker 1: wouldn't you.
- 43:15Speaker 2: Not actually doing you just like going for the one
- 43:17Speaker 2: of those ones?
- 43:18Speaker 1: What about blowing gently in their face. I have seen
- 43:21Speaker 1: that done before, or sniffing their hair.
- 43:25Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I'll tell your off air you just tell
- 43:29Speaker 3: Pete Carolyn to just to keep doing his.
- 43:32Speaker 1: Due, keep coming up with great ideas. I'll give him
- 43:37Speaker 1: the survey. Can he can send it in if he
- 43:39Speaker 1: wants to.
- 43:39Speaker 2: Didn't someone tape a sanitary product to their hand and
- 43:42Speaker 2: then when they went to defend they did that it
- 43:44Speaker 2: was hanging down? Oh sure, I've heard that rumor.
- 43:49Speaker 1: That that wasn't a Diamonds game.
- 43:52Speaker 2: I'm assuming, I'm assuming. No, No, it sounds like a
- 43:56Speaker 2: community Yeah, it was a club game.
- 43:58Speaker 3: Yes, yes, yes, I haven't. I haven't done the survey,
- 44:02Speaker 3: but I've heard some of the suggestions. Apparently there is
- 44:05Speaker 3: some really good things in it. So that's great. Keep
- 44:07Speaker 3: it going. Everyone wonder if it's mine. I haven't heard.
- 44:10Speaker 3: Can't believe no one said that to me. But anyhow, Lord,
- 44:14Speaker 3: I think the survey is still open. Yeah, it is.
- 44:16Speaker 3: It is for a little bit longer, which is great.
- 44:18Speaker 1: So if you have any suggestions, jump on the sun
- 44:21Speaker 1: Corps Superneball website and fill in the survey and send
- 44:24Speaker 1: your suggestions to how the game can be improved to them.
- 44:28Speaker 1: Sounds good. Anyone have the things that make you go
- 44:30Speaker 1: hmm this week, lots of things that made me go home.
- 44:43Speaker 2: We'll go.
- 44:43Speaker 1: Then, well I can tell you. I can tell you
- 44:45Speaker 1: something that made me go In the Ballarat half Marathon recently,
- 44:49Speaker 1: within the last month, a man ran the Ballerat half
- 44:52Speaker 1: marathon on stilts, ninety centimeters stilts and did it in
- 44:57Speaker 1: two hours and thirty four minutes. He did the whole
- 45:00Speaker 1: thing with the stilts, with the stilts on, and like,
- 45:03Speaker 1: two hours and thirty four minutes is not a bad
- 45:06Speaker 1: time to run twenty one kilometers on stilts. What?
- 45:11Speaker 2: But I love how people's minds work. I know I'm
- 45:14Speaker 2: going to run a marathon with stilts on.
- 45:16Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, And then like, what's that conversation like with
- 45:19Speaker 3: your partner? What do you think, bab I'm going to
- 45:21Speaker 3: run this marathon on stilt. It's like, surely your partner goes,
- 45:24Speaker 3: that's just stupid. How do you do support?
- 45:27Speaker 2: I will never understand.
- 45:29Speaker 1: I'm going to need to devote a lot of time
- 45:31Speaker 1: to training for this goal that I've set for myself.
- 45:35Speaker 1: It's really important to me. So yeah, where you go, honey,
- 45:40Speaker 1: you pop your stilts on. I won't be coming out
- 45:42Speaker 1: and training with you.
- 45:44Speaker 2: Maybe it was her idea. Maybe she doesn't like him
- 45:46Speaker 2: that much.
- 45:47Speaker 1: That's true.
- 45:48Speaker 2: You wouldn't.
- 45:49Speaker 1: You wouldn't train with your partner if they were doing
- 45:51Speaker 1: something like that. That would you run way ahead of
- 45:56Speaker 1: me or way behind you?
- 45:58Speaker 2: Anyway, I meanwhile, and just quickly, I'll watch the False Prophet.
- 46:01Speaker 1: Oh did you like it?
- 46:02Speaker 2: Oh my lord, it's a level of brainwashing. I will
- 46:05Speaker 2: never understand.
- 46:06Speaker 1: It's terrible.
- 46:07Speaker 2: Yeah, anyway, watch it people, if you haven't.
- 46:09Speaker 3: There we go.
- 46:09Speaker 1: So that was a little No Dribble recommends. That was
- 46:12Speaker 1: actually tested by No Dribble. So coming along, well, well,
- 46:17Speaker 1: it seems like I'm the only one who had things
- 46:19Speaker 1: that made you go. That's making me go, Catherine, you're
- 46:22Speaker 1: flicking a cable around. But anyway, dribblers, don't forget to
- 46:25Speaker 1: put your tips in. This week we have it's round
- 46:29Speaker 1: to ten. This week we have we have the Giants
- 46:33Speaker 1: are going to Queensland to play the Firebirds. The Vixens
- 46:35Speaker 1: are going to Queensland to play the Lightning. The Swifts
- 46:38Speaker 1: are going to Western Australia to play the Fever and
- 46:40Speaker 1: Catherine will also be there. So say hello, here you
- 46:43Speaker 1: see Catherine yes, do please, And the MAVs are going
- 46:46Speaker 1: to Adelaide this weekend.
- 46:47Speaker 2: That will be a very.
- 46:48Speaker 1: Interesting game to watch that one. So yes, get around
- 46:52Speaker 1: the ball. Make sure that you keep our game a beautiful,
- 46:55Speaker 1: safe community space for everyone to enjoy and have a
- 46:58Speaker 1: great week. I'm Carolyn, So we don't.
- 47:00Speaker 3: Cocks by team. See ya?
- 47:02Speaker 2: That was liz ELA's. That was Lizella by b Has
- 47:10Speaker 2: she gone yet? Sorry? Has she gone yet? Yeah?
- 47:12Speaker 1: She's gone. What are you going to do with Ramelda?
- 47:14Speaker 2: Well? I thought, because if I go over a day earlier,
- 47:18Speaker 2: you make out, I'm going to go and see Baudi
- 47:19Speaker 2: your training, yep, and then I might just literally wait
- 47:22Speaker 2: in the car park.
- 47:23Speaker 1: What about I was thinking, take a lot of marbles
- 47:27Speaker 1: and throw them across the court during training. Yeah yeah,
- 47:31Speaker 1: but what if I got someone else? What if you
- 47:32Speaker 1: get someone else? I don't just clean it up in
- 47:34Speaker 1: the car par Yeah? Okay, have you got an alibi?
- 47:39Speaker 2: That's the point. What do I do there?
- 47:41Speaker 1: And have you actually thought about the fact that she
- 47:43Speaker 1: could clean your clock any day of the week. Oh no, no,
- 47:46Speaker 1: I could come off this second. Maybe you just have
- 47:48Speaker 1: to be gracious about this, Catherine, happen. We'll keep thinking
- 47:52Speaker 1: all right, okay,
