Chris Affleck, beloved mother of actors Ben and Casey Affleck and a tireless civil rights advocate, passed away peacefully at 83 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Diagnosed in December 2025, she fulfilled her final wish—seeing her grandson graduate high school—just days before her death on May 31, 2026. A Harvard alum and 35-year public school teacher, she marched for justice, volunteered for Obama, and stood with Palestine’s water justice movement.
