Brett: Everything.
0:01
Brett: Since my accident I've had to relearn how to do, and so it's just.
0:06
Brett: It's a huge been a huge adjustment, but I mean I figured it out, yeah.
0:12
Bryce: Well, maybe it might make sense to start there and maybe like walk through that experience and I don't know how comfortable you are with like sharing things, but yeah, so what actually happened?
0:24
Bryce: Okay, so I don't even think I know really.
0:28
Bryce: Yeah, I mean, I I know very basic of like what happened, but yeah, I don't know the details.
0:31
Brett: So I mean like growing up in arizona, right, we had to make our own fun and mine was being a pyro and just doing stupid stuff.
0:39
Bryce: Yeah and so, oh, I did the same thing, man.
0:42
Bryce: I don't know if you remember the altar, we won't go into that one.
0:47
Brett: But yeah, pyrotechnics, man, I'm into it, and so it was July 10th, 2022.
0:55
Brett: Okay, I was with some friends and it was right after the 4th of July.
0:59
Brett: I had extra fireworks, yeah, and it was down in Vineyard Beach, area of like by the utah lake, yeah, and so I was holding the mortar tube and I lit it off and, um, you know like how you hold the tube?
1:16
Brett: Like, yeah, I'm pointing where you wanted it to launch out, and so I was doing that and it didn't launch out of the tube, it just blew up right in my hand, jeez, and so kind of like I vaguely remember a bunch of little things, but the full picture is kind of like just patchy.
1:34
Brett: Yeah, I'm sure.
1:36
Bryce: Just adrenaline, just going through you at that point.
1:38
Bryce: Yeah.
1:38
Brett: Man, and so kind of at the very last second, when I'm like, okay, this is taking a, it's like you want it, okay, it's like you have that mindset like throw it.
1:46
Brett: But it just happened so fast, man, and then it blew up and then, um, as far as I remember, like I've I feel like I stayed pretty calm.
1:57
Brett: It's just like the adrenaline, the in shock, yeah.
2:00
Brett: And so we called 9-1-1 and met him at that gas station on Geneva okay, that Maverick yeah, and so kind of like, once we get there, I was losing a lot of blood by then and so I kind of like just was out of it, kind of loopy, yeah, once I got in the ambulance, and so, getting the ambulance, they take me to provo hospital, um, and they said that it was too severe because they're a trauma to hospital, okay, and so there's like it's too severe, we can't work on this, and so I think I got back into the ambulance and they took me to Intermountain Health in Murray, and so that's where I had my first two surgeries, back to back, kind of just like cleaning up.
2:54
Brett: Yeah, that same night, I assume, right, yeah, july 10th and July 11th.
2:58
Brett: Actually, my mom wrote like a list of everything.
3:03
Bryce: Dang man bomb.
3:03
Bryce: We're like a list of everything.
3:04
Bryce: Dang man that's.
3:04
Bryce: That's the thing is like with fireworks and and those kind of things, like you just never, never expect it to happen.
3:11
Bryce: No, it could happen anytime.
3:12
Bryce: Yeah, it's crazy like I remember me and my friends when we were kids.
3:15
Bryce: We used to make sparkler bombs all the time and like one time it was spencer and I and a couple other kids and we blew up one of the bombs in like the field behind walgreens.
3:25
Bryce: Yeah, we put like a five gallon bucket on top of it and we thought like it would silence the noise, but it was just like mushroom cloud, dude.
3:32
Bryce: This thing is shot up and blew up and like the whole field was on fire and we're like what, if that was in our hand, like we could have died, dude.
3:39
Brett: Yes, like it's scary, it really is, and like before, accident like this has happened two times to my other buddy, really yeah, one was at Connor Stott's wedding.
3:51
Brett: No way, yeah, and Justin Nile was holding it.
3:54
Brett: Yeah.
3:55
Brett: And it was like a smaller one but he like hurried and put his hand in the water, oh man, and he's like shaking it, it's like all numb Jeez.
4:04
Brett: It's just like all these happen.
4:06
Brett: And then when mine happens, like that's been like the final straw, like a lot of my friends, like they won't touch fireworks now yeah, yeah, so anyway, sorry that took you off track no, it's good man.
4:19
Brett: So july 10th, 2022, first surgery, july 11th second surgery, and then July 13th was my third in major flap surgery.
4:32
Brett: So that's when they took the skin from my leg.
4:34
Brett: Yeah, I have like a big, huge scar right here.
4:38
Bryce: I don't know if you've seen pictures or not Like a skin graft kind of thing.
4:40
Brett: Yeah, so it's a skin graft, but it's even more so.
4:43
Brett: Like you see, it still grows hair on my thumb oh, that's nice from my leg, yeah, and so it's called a free flap surgery.
4:50
Brett: They take a big portion of skin and muscle, huh, and to put right here, and then they do a skin graft.
4:56
Brett: So they did like thinner layers, okay, um, right here, and then on my other leg too, to put back over that, because it was like so deep, yeah, and so have you.
5:07
Bryce: I can show pictures too, if I mean, yeah, I kind of, if you don't mind man you want to see I mean I'll see.
5:14
Bryce: Yeah, if that's crazy though, man, like so were you in the hospital the whole time, like while you're getting surgeries and stuff, like were you, yeah, for the first three.
5:22
Brett: Yeah, and my mom was there with me the whole time.
5:25
Brett: Dang man, um, you got a great mom.
5:27
Brett: Oh my gosh, I would not be where I'm at without her dude, she's, she's awesome.
5:31
Brett: I remember her like from volleyball days and all that stuff like going over to you guys's house yeah, and I'll show you some videos too, but she uh, like she had to, after the hospital, my mom like right here on this side, because they put it here and it's hollow inside oh really it has to grow from the inside out pretty much, because it's just fat and scar tissue, yeah, and so like she had to stuff it with gauze.
5:57
Brett: Dang man Every day until it kind of like healed out.
6:01
Brett: Yeah, and that alone.
6:05
Brett: Like her I had to be.
6:06
Brett: I had to like show no face expressions or like look away because it would hurt her more.
6:11
Bryce: Yeah, like seeing me, because I can't imagine how bad that hurts.
6:15
Bryce: Like yeah.
6:16
Brett: Crazy.
6:17
Brett: That was probably the worst, like at post.
6:19
Brett: Hospital like has been one of the most oh dude, just like, yeah man, painful things.
6:25
Bryce: Hospital like has been one of the most just like yeah, man, painful things, that's insane, that is really wild.
6:29
Brett: Yeah, I would go to like doctor's visits and the doctors they didn't like be gentle or anything.
6:33
Brett: I'm just like sitting here, I'm like screaming in my head, I would have lost it.
6:37
Brett: That's crazy my mom's over there, like yeah, you know my dad has a surgery.
6:42
Bryce: Um, he almost lost his foot, but like he had a bacteria that was basically eating away his foot and they had to go in and keep cutting out more and more of his tissue in his foot and they're eventually like we have to amputate this.
6:52
Bryce: But it didn't happen.
6:53
Bryce: But my mom, she couldn't do it, so they hired a nurse to like take the gauze out, and every time my dad like put a pillow over his head and was like screaming yeah so, dude, I can't imagine that that's yeah, so after the hospital I had um an at-home nurse.
7:08
Brett: Yeah, so one of our like family friends, um cousins.
7:11
Brett: I stayed at their house and she had to give me like a blood thinner shot every day and she had yeah, she had diabetes, but she could not do it to me like, yeah, it's crazy how, like you know, I guess that makes sense.
7:24
Bryce: I probably couldn't put a shot in like alley, but I'd give myself shots, like I was telling you the hormone stuff.
7:29
Bryce: I give myself shots every week so it's like I don't know same thing this wild here's a lake, what it looked like oh, dude, that's brutal.
7:38
Bryce: How far deep did they go down?
7:42
Brett: Pretty freaking deep, bro man.
7:45
Bryce: That's insane.
7:46
Bryce: Is that your muscle, right there?
7:49
Brett: So that's the skin from the top where they said they put it through this cheese grater thing Really.
7:56
Brett: So it expands it and that's why it looks like that man.
8:01
Bryce: That is insane.
8:01
Bryce: And then they just have the staples in there.
8:05
Brett: Yeah, eventually I had to get those pulled.
8:06
Brett: It's like, that's brutal.
8:08
Brett: You know when, like close to your thigh, when you pull a hair yeah how it's just so painful yeah it's the worst dude.
8:15
Brett: This whole thing was like suction rat for three 72 hours.
8:19
Bryce: I couldn't get out of the hospital bed after that so you had to stay in bed for 72 hours.
8:23
Brett: Yeah, dude, I had, like one of them, uh, catheters and everything no way trying to pee upside down bro holy crap, I've heard, I've heard.
8:30
Brett: That's the worst too yeah, it's hard like the catheter.
8:33
Brett: This is painful, yeah, but but yeah, um, I had it suctioned and then when they pulled it off it was like all sticky around like the worst band-aid ever.
8:43
Brett: Oh my god, dude I was like sitting there pulling it with her, the nurse, oh, I'm just man, I mean that's like I don't know.
8:53
Bryce: It kind of shows who you are a little bit, because it's like I'm just gonna keep moving forward in this thing, like that's what it looks like, kind of right after.
9:02
Brett: So I mean like compared to now it looks night and day difference yeah that looks brutal, man.
9:10
Bryce: So you did you lose your thumb completely, or is it um?
9:14
Brett: yeah, man, that is insane.
9:16
Brett: And so after the hospital here, for what was it like a month or so, and then went back to arizona for a year, and so it was like around august to august, yeah, and what was it like with um, like psychologically, like when you looked at your hand, like did it kind of freak you out a little bit?
9:44
Brett: yeah, I mean, every time I do look at it, it's just, it's just a reminder, yeah, and so dealing with that is just you have to like you get those thoughts all the time, but it's in the end.
9:57
Brett: I know that I'm gonna make it.
10:00
Brett: Yeah, you just have to have that mindset.
10:02
Brett: 100, but holy crap every day dude, it's gotta be.
10:06
Bryce: Yeah, man, I can't imagine that.
10:07
Bryce: But I mean, you're doing great like yeah, you seem to be in great mindset, like I don't know.
10:12
Bryce: I feel like, um, people have the option to either let it ruin them or let it make them become something greater, like I don't know.
10:21
Bryce: Um, I'll tell you offline who it was, but there's this kid in high school we he went to our high school and you might know him because he like lost.
10:30
Bryce: He lost like his two fingers here and then like half of his thumb.
10:35
Bryce: He was in a razor and the razor rolled on it and like completely, destroyed his hand um, and he like started getting addicted to like narcotics right away and this is high school, yeah, and like, then, after that, he moved on to harder stuff and then now he's like his life's completely different than what it could have been.
10:56
Bryce: Um, it's all because of, like the decisions that like obviously you didn't decide to get hurt, like to get injured, but you decide every single day what you're going to make of it and, like what you choose to do.
11:08
Brett: I think that's cool.
11:09
Brett: When I was in the hospital, when they I mean I was just like on drugs you know, and when they would give me morphine through the IV, it was like this just like sudden, just rush of just like you know, Just relief yeah, yeah, this just like sudden, just rush of, just like just relief, yeah, yeah, and in my head I'm like, oh my gosh, this could like.
11:32
Brett: Now I see how it's addictive.
11:33
Brett: Yeah, and at the beginning I was like I told myself I'm like I'm not gonna get into any hard stuff.
11:40
Brett: Yeah, um, and still, to this day, like nothing crazy hard, and because I made that choice in the beginning, it's been a blessing, you know that's awesome, man.
11:51
Bryce: I think that's that's so admirable, because, like, people use it as an excuse.
11:55
Brett: So yeah, and that like I feel for the people that, um, are addicted, because I can see that and I can see how hard it is to come out of it right, and so that's what I'm just like go through this whole life in a perspective, of perspective of just like seeing people for who they are.
12:14
Brett: Yeah, not judging, and I don't know, I it's blessed me, it's made me more happy, damn, yeah I mean, that's a huge mindset to take.
12:22
Bryce: Like you shouldn't judge people.
12:24
Bryce: Everyone's got something they're dealing with, whether it's like a physical thing or if it's mental, but everyone's got something.
12:29
Bryce: Like you can't judge people, it's not fair.
12:32
Brett: But yeah, for real I'm just grateful I'm here yeah, me too, I mean you like.
12:38
Bryce: We've been buddies for how long, I don't know, since beginning of your freshman year or something.
12:43
Bryce: I mean it's wild.
12:45
Brett: Playing some volleyball.
12:46
Bryce: Playing volleyball.
12:47
Bryce: Dude.
12:47
Brett: Yeah, yeah, bro, last summer I actually played volleyball again.
12:50
Bryce: Really.
12:51
Brett: Yeah, I learned how to play left-handed.
12:53
Bryce: Dude, let's go.
12:53
Bryce: Had to bump a little higher, but I mean, it's fun learning things and like trying to figure things out.
13:02
Bryce: Yeah, so after you like had your initial surgeries, you move in with the nurse, right, yeah?
13:07
Brett: And then I moved back home, to Arizona.
13:09
Bryce: Yeah, so what are you doing in that time?
13:11
Bryce: Is it all rehab stuff?
13:12
Brett: Yeah.
13:13
Brett: So I was physical therapy three to four times a week.
13:17
Brett: Dang yeah at first, and then it kind of went back to like two Okay.
13:22
Brett: But we found one doctor when we first moved down and we go in he says everything's fine Like I still have open wounds at this point, right.
13:32
Brett: And he's like oh, everything's fine, like you're good.
13:35
Brett: And me and my mom look at each other and we're like what he's like you can go swimming and all that.
13:40
Brett: I'm like what the hell?
13:42
Brett: the hell yeah like do you see this, yeah, like and so I had an infection at the time in my hand, and so, yeah, um, my therapist said that there was a doctor at that building he was just like on the floor below, yeah and so she brought him up and he looked at my hand and so, um, from that point on we went with him.
14:03
Brett: He did my last four surgeries.
14:06
Brett: Oh, nice, yeah, okay, and so, yeah.
14:09
Brett: So my fourth surgery was August 26th and they cut a lot of dead thumb bone off.
14:22
Brett: So backtrack April of that that year I think it was 2023.
14:28
Brett: I was just like, so fed up.
14:30
Brett: I'm like I'm getting out of here, so I went yeah went out and uh did sales um test control in georgia really yeah, like put my mini cooper on my dad's truck and he drove it out there and I flew that out there and it was with.
14:47
Brett: Braxton Hatch.
14:47
Brett: Oh, cool Okay.
14:48
Brett: And so I was out there for a month and I was actually starting to get pretty good at it, like doing at least a sale a day, and then my bones started popping out of my skin.
14:58
Brett: No way.
14:59
Brett: Yeah, so I still had the thumb bone at the time.
15:01
Brett: Yeah, still had the thumb bone at the time, yeah, and I like was texting my doctor and he's like, yeah, let's go, like come home and we'll get it taken care of.
15:11
Brett: So I had to leave and from like going up here like oh yeah, I'm doing good, you know and then you just get right back down.
15:18
Bryce: It's been just like roller coaster since for the past three years I mean, yeah, you said it, I think when we were texting initially.
15:26
Bryce: You're like life's a roller coaster, man dude, and you've been through it, like yeah, you've been through it.
15:31
Brett: That's, that's insane yeah, and so we had that surgery.
15:35
Brett: And then I mean more recovery yeah had to grow strength back up.
15:40
Brett: And then let's see march 9th was my fifth surgery, so I went out in april.
15:50
Brett: Oh, august of 2022.
16:01
Brett: So when I went, back home I had another surgery yeah yeah, sorry, there's been no, that's okay.
16:07
Brett: I mean, that's just insane and then that following march yeah is when I had my fifth, and then I had my sixth in may and then 2024 april, so last year yeah I had my seventh dang man in the past couple.
16:23
Brett: I've just been like debulking surgeries, so they just open it back up and kind of take out some stuff, make it smaller, tighter, but I mean like it's still jiggly yeah.
16:34
Bryce: Squishy, is it just like fat and scar tissue.
16:36
Bryce: Yeah, just fat and scar tissue.
16:37
Bryce: Hey well, does it hurt when you do that?
16:41
Brett: Like I can feel it.
16:46
Bryce: It's like a little tingly, yeah, but it just always feels like that.
16:48
Brett: That's crazy, yeah, like what happened to the nerves in there it's, I don't know man, yeah, so I had the most feeling on this backside it's been three years yeah, it was july 10th, so like a week ago holy cow man.
17:02
Bryce: That's, that's a lot yeah, it's been.
17:05
Bryce: It's been a crazy ride, but we're we're doing good now yeah, man, I mean, I think that's, that's huge.
17:12
Bryce: Like obviously I don't know what anything like that is.
17:15
Bryce: Like like I'm I'm fortunate enough not to have had something like that, um, but like I think it's moments like this that really determine, like, who you are and um, like I think of another person I had on this podcast.
17:31
Bryce: His name is rob jones okay he, uh, he was an I ied detector in um, afghanistan, I think in 2008, and he got blown up, like above the knee, amputee, like in both legs both legs, um and he was in the hospital and like he just had this thought he's like I can either have this ruin my life or I can make the most of it.
17:54
Bryce: And then, like he later went on to win the bronze medal in paralympics for like rowing and um biked across america and then he like ran 31 marathons in 31 days.
18:05
Bryce: Dude, that's freaking awesome, but it's like you know he had the chance to be like well, I can't do anything about it.
18:10
Bryce: So it's like how'd you get to that mindset of like that You're just going to try your best to become, you know, the best version of yourself?
18:20
Brett: I think when I was back home for that year, my parents' neighbor his name is Blake, but he moved into the house when I was 13, 12 years old.
18:30
Brett: Okay.
18:31
Brett: And so when I went back home we bonded and just made that connection.
18:36
Brett: And he's a very outgoing, just talkative dude and so just being around him and being around his energy truly did help me and save me.
18:48
Brett: And so I think, to answer your question, just being around people that uplift you, people that always believe in you, and so I think people has been a big part of it Just keeping that mindset, People will come up to me and be like holy crap, you're such an inspiration.
19:10
Brett: I'm like what did I do?
19:13
Bryce: I mean, yeah, it's kind of what you're talking about, just like mindset, but, dude, support is huge.
19:17
Bryce: Anything difficult that I've gone through like I was telling you when I was sick having people that you can rely on and who, like they know your situation, they know it's not the best and they're still like happy to see you and they're cheering you on like that's huge man.
19:32
Brett: yeah, so so definitely that and yeah, um, definitely, uh, something that did help me just keep my spirits up, um, was weed.
19:42
Brett: Really, yeah, I did get into like smoking weed and, um, it just made me happy, yeah, made me forget and numb the pain, um, and so a lot of these three years I have just kind of numbed it, yeah, and set it aside, but I think, looking back, I probably wouldn't change it because it did help me.
20:02
Brett: Yeah, um, I know that I'm not gonna do it my whole life.
20:06
Brett: Yeah, I know that there comes a time when you kind of have to let that stuff go, to be the next person you want to be and be greater, yeah, and so I'm kind of at that point I'm just trying to better myself and be the best person for me healthy, you know yeah, start working on that.
20:26
Bryce: I think that's huge.
20:26
Bryce: It's like um, like, if it helps get you through that, then you know, by all means, by all means I'm not gonna tell you not to do it, yeah, but like I think you're right, like there does come a time where it's like, okay, well, what's next for me?
20:38
Bryce: Yeah, and like it's you have to just be like okay, well, this helped me at this point, but it's no longer useful.
20:43
Bryce: Like maybe there's something else I could do, exactly, um, but no, I think that's totally fair.
20:48
Bryce: I mean, I would love to see you with like snoop one day, though he's actually a great person, that's what I've heard.
20:55
Bryce: Yeah, that's what I've heard.
20:56
Brett: I watched um.
20:57
Brett: He was on the voice was he really yeah and like just seeing his personality.
21:03
Brett: It was very cool to see Because, no matter what people do like, it's still them.
21:09
Brett: You know, yeah, and I just see the good in people.
21:12
Bryce: It's huge man.
21:14
Bryce: I think that's an admirable thing too is like finding the good in everyone, because everyone does have something good to give Exactly, just like how everyone's going through something or dealing with something difficult.
21:29
Brett: There's also really great people out there.
21:30
Brett: Yeah, it starts with yourself too.
21:31
Brett: Yeah, like I do give myself credit because, um, I may not say it a lot, but I have like relearning how to do everything.
21:37
Brett: Yeah, it has been so fucking hard, you know, and so, like I do give myself a lot of credit, like that I never gave up, yeah, and so the biggest thing that I learned out of this whole thing is just never give up.
21:51
Brett: Like, even if you have bad days, just keep pushing as hard as it is.
21:55
Brett: I think just keep pushing, something will eventually happen.
22:00
Bryce: Yeah, I agree fully, and it's like I don't know.
22:04
Brett: That was your last podcast, just to never give up.
22:08
Bryce: I think I listened to it yeah, last night I mean, well, I appreciate that dude, but, um, yeah, that's the thing is like it's so easy to give in, like when things go wrong, when when life gets hard, it's easy to play the the victim card and just be like, okay, I'm, I'm not doing this, I'm not gonna push myself, I'm not gonna, yeah, try to make the most of the situation.
22:27
Bryce: And, um, I've known people who have done that and their life is not what it could be, um, but then I've also known people who have, like, pushed through difficult times, like yeah.
22:38
Bryce: I talked to this one guy on the podcast.
22:40
Bryce: His name's Dave Daly and he, um, it was like a super healthy guy and then one day went boogie boarding and broke his neck and now he's like, um, um, he has the symptoms of like a stroke victim or like someone who had a stroke.
22:54
Bryce: So he still has like functionality and stuff, but he's definitely messed up with uh, how he moves and things like that, but like he's the most positive guy I've ever met.
23:01
Bryce: Um, so I don't know, I mean, it's just like he didn't quit and you didn't quit.
23:08
Bryce: Like it's just, it's admirable, yeah, like I can say the same thing about like myself when, when I was sick, to like where I'm at now, um, that took, I think, uh, four years total for like me to get healthy again.
23:22
Bryce: Um, and it was.
23:24
Bryce: It was hell, dude, like dark times, like not knowing if I was going to live or die, and like doctors telling me I had leukemia, like all these crazy things.
23:35
Brett: You start getting those thoughts like just like an everyday thing, like you'll go to do something and like for me laying in bed, like on my back.
23:46
Brett: Yeah.
23:47
Brett: And like sometimes I'll cross my arms and then I'll get that thought, like is this the last time I'm gonna breathe, you know?
23:54
Brett: Yeah and it's just like those bad thoughts that, yeah, dude, like you have to shut out immediately it's hard.
24:00
Bryce: It's hard to shut those out sometimes it really is something yeah brain freaking plays tricks, man, like it wants you to think about the worst case scenario.
24:08
Brett: But yeah, I mean it sounds like you've done like a lot of healing yeah, meditation, yeah, what's up, and like just being alone, I think for me like listening to music and um, sunsets, yeah, dude, like watching sunsets alone, like it's just very calming it just calms my mind um, and so I think, just finding your own niche of what makes you happy and free and I mean that's.
24:39
Bryce: That's a big one too.
24:39
Bryce: Being out in nature, man underrated it heals it's, it really does yeah um, I don't know.
24:46
Bryce: Do you know, joe rogan is yeah dude he talks about.
24:48
Bryce: He's like, he's like I think someone's gonna come out in the future where people say that like nature's a vitamin, that like people need, and I'm like, yeah, it probably is like being out in nature, spending time out there.
24:58
Bryce: Um, it's one of the reasons I love to run is like you're just out running.
25:04
Bryce: Usually, uh, I run on roads, but like when I get out in the trails it's like a whole nother thing, man, and I'm just like I can't believe I'm here yeah, we live here.
25:13
Bryce: Yeah, it's crazy, it's amazing, it's cool, but um no, that's awesome I haven't learned how to like running yet you.
25:21
Bryce: Could you for sure could you've grown a ton.
25:23
Brett: So I'm sure like yeah, no, I got the like I've done it before, but the consistency to everything, yeah, is the hardest I've done a before but, the consistency to everything is the hardest.
25:31
Brett: I've done a lot of hard things, but I've never stayed consistent.
25:36
Brett: Yeah.
25:36
Brett: So like I know that I can, but I mean I'll get there, but Consistency is hard, but like I don't know, I mean Discipline.
25:44
Bryce: Discipline.
25:45
Bryce: I always say, like discipline gets you started and consistency gets you across the finish line.
25:49
Bryce: Yeah, like in those first days, in those first times when you're like you decide to start running, or like doing anything difficult, like it takes discipline and it's going to be hard, like you need motivation but motivation goes away.
26:00
Bryce: And that's when you rely on discipline.
26:02
Bryce: But, yeah, consistency is just like I always tell people to start small and then work your way up, and like that consistency won't be as bad.
26:10
Bryce: But um, I mean, I wasn't a runner, he knew me.
26:13
Bryce: I was volleyball.
26:14
Brett: Do you?
26:14
Bryce: go to canes every day after practice and just like type shit, just veg out and all that crap.
26:21
Bryce: Go to Cameron's house watch clone wars all that stuff.
26:24
Bryce: But yeah, man, I mean it's important to find that stuff and when you were meditating, did you have like anything you would focus on?
26:32
Bryce: Because I've heard like some people do that, Breathing.
26:35
Brett: Really.
26:35
Brett: Yeah, I've done a couple breathing kind of meditation classes.
26:38
Brett: One was with that company that I was with Lifetime.
26:42
Brett: Yeah, it was actually really good.
26:44
Brett: There was a time I kind of worked my way up to project manager and was running a crew oh nice, and for all the team leads they paid for a trainer, a personal trainer, and then they bought a cold plunge, dang dude, and so at 5.30 am we'd go and cold plunge every morning and then go do our workout and then go home, change, come back and go throughout our day.
27:08
Brett: You know, dude, that takes discipline.
27:10
Bryce: The cold tub sucks.
27:11
Bryce: Yeah, it's good for you.
27:13
Brett: I love cold plunging.
27:15
Brett: I haven't done it in a while, but I do need to get back into it because it helps with your breathing.
27:20
Brett: Yeah, that's what I've heard Wim Hof.
27:23
Bryce: he talks about that all the time.
27:24
Bryce: Yeah.
27:24
Bryce: You know who that guy is.
27:25
Bryce: Yeah, he's got some crazy stuff.
27:30
Bryce: Like, if you, he's got a bunch of youtube videos, um, there's like documentaries about him that I think are on youtube and I don't know it's.
27:33
Bryce: It's interesting to see people who go to him, or go to him like they're usually part of some kind of class and then like he'll teach them how to do breath work and they're all just like laying on the floor doing like intense breath work and like some people are crying yeah and uh.
27:47
Bryce: But he explains the science behind it.
27:48
Brett: Yeah, so that's what we did at the company Dang.
27:51
Brett: We did one of those you put like a blindfold on and she takes you through this whole breathing exercise.
27:59
Brett: It was probably about 30 minutes to an hour yeah.
28:02
Brett: Dang.
28:03
Brett: That seems long.
28:04
Brett: There's like very calm music on.
28:06
Brett: Yeah, people use like the sound stuff.
28:10
Bryce: Oh, like the uh, the bowls and all those things.
28:12
Bryce: Yeah, chime bowls, I can't remember.
28:15
Brett: A lot of people kind of um.
28:18
Brett: One of my buddies.
28:19
Brett: He had this experience where, uh, like he saw his younger self and that's what happened with me.
28:25
Brett: I just like saw my younger happy self, yeah, happened with me.
28:31
Brett: I just like saw my younger happy self, yeah, and I don't know.
28:32
Brett: It's very good for it.
28:33
Bryce: Yeah, that's cool for the mind, yeah, but I um, I'm curious about the, the relearning things.
28:37
Bryce: Like I know it's probably been really difficult because, like, you have to relearn everything, right, pretty much.
28:45
Bryce: Yeah, were you?
28:45
Brett: right-handed before I was like sports and everything right-handed.
28:49
Brett: I did right with my left.
28:51
Bryce: So I did get lucky with that.
28:53
Brett: And like eating.
28:54
Brett: I was left-handed.
28:55
Brett: So like the very main important things that you kind of have to relearn quick.
29:00
Brett: I already knew how to do.
29:01
Brett: That's good, yeah, but there's a lot of little things, kind of like just anything.
29:07
Brett: Like you use your thumb, like it's crazy how much.
29:10
Brett: Like you don't realize how much you use your thumb, yeah, um, like if I have a freaking ingrown hair or something on my left arm and like pinching it like you can't do it.
29:24
Brett: If I'm carrying stuff, um, with my left hand and like opening doors.
29:29
Brett: It's very hard to open doors.
29:30
Brett: I kind of have to like lean with it, yeah, um, and so just a bunch of little stuff, um, and just learning how to use these two fingers with everything, yeah, grabbing, and so very hard, but I I'd say I did pretty good at it.
29:50
Brett: Yeah, I've always been naturally kind of just coordinated and athletic, yeah, and so I think that has just helped a lot.
29:57
Brett: Yeah, man, I mean it's crazy.
29:59
Brett: It's like God knew that I could get over it, yeah, and so he gave it to me.
30:06
Bryce: I feel like that's true.
30:07
Bryce: Sometimes, like I feel like God he does that to to strengthen you, like make you become who you're meant to be.
30:15
Bryce: Yeah, absolutely.
30:15
Bryce: Like um, I don't know when, when I was sick and like I went through depression, all this stuff like I've helped not trying to like toot my own horn here, but like I've talked to other people who have been going through something similar and like helped them through it and like said, hey, this is what I did that helped me.
30:31
Bryce: Right now, allie and I are going through infertility, which sucks.
30:36
Brett: Yeah, that's the podcast I listen to.
30:38
Brett: It's brutal.
30:38
Brett: I'm sorry, guys, I mean it is what it is.
30:41
Bryce: You can't change it, but it's the same kind of thing.
30:44
Bryce: It's like, well, we've talked about this, like there must be something that we need to learn from it that we can help someone else with, or yeah, or become better ourselves, but a lot of the stuff that you do learn through, like trauma and stuff like people don't usually well, they'll never understand unless they actually go through it.
31:02
Bryce: Yeah, and so I could sit here and ramble on everything I've learned, but I mean it's more so for me to um learn from, and so I think what you guys are going through definitely going to learn some stuff, and yeah, I mean, dude, I like I wouldn't say that I feel like you got a lot to tell people, because, um one, I feel like people in general uh, just kind of lose their minds over the smallest things, yeah, and like when something big happens, they just don't know how to cope with it.
31:35
Bryce: Um, and so you coming on here and like saying like hey, this is what happened to me, but I didn't let it break me, I didn't let it stop me, yeah, um, I mean, that's really what getting after it's all about is like you just keep going, man Get after it, baby, get after it.
31:50
Bryce: That's right.
31:51
Bryce: But like, yeah, I mean, if someone sees this and they're like going through something hard, they're like, hey, well, if Bryce did it, if Brett did something, then maybe I can apply some of the things that they said, Like who knows?
32:04
Bryce: You never know Like that's one thing I've learned about doing this podcast you never know what's going to resonate with someone.
32:12
Bryce: Your story might do that for someone very specific that I couldn't, yeah, absolutely.
32:15
Bryce: That's what.
32:15
Bryce: Going back to the God piece, I don't know where you stand on God or anything like that, but I do feel like he gives people not challenges or trials, but experiences to go through that allow them to reach at least one person.
32:34
Bryce: Um, yeah, at least like step in and it could be something about like your personality or you know someone.
32:40
Bryce: Um that like something you say would resonate with them rather than coming from someone else.
32:46
Bryce: Yeah, I might just be going on a tangent here, but like no absolutely and like for me in the future.
32:51
Brett: I just all I want to be in this world is an inspiration.
32:55
Brett: Yeah and so I.
32:56
Brett: I've learned that very I don't know in the past year or so.
33:00
Brett: It's like I've had no purpose and so not having a purpose in life, it it's very hard on the mind too.
33:07
Brett: It's like for sure, I blew my hand up.
33:10
Brett: My whole life changes like what the fuck am I supposed to do now?
33:13
Brett: Yeah and so.
33:15
Brett: Uh, when I came back up to utah to like do epoxy and everything hands-on, it's like, yeah, I learned how to do it, I could do it, but it's not something I want to do for the rest of my life.
33:25
Brett: Yeah, because it really was hard on my hand.
33:28
Brett: Like, as good as I can do it, it's I can't do it forever.
33:32
Bryce: Yeah and so just skin's sensitive right.
33:35
Bryce: Isn't it more sensitive than yeah?
33:36
Brett: and just like all the muscles is just always tight, like, yeah, from pretty much the whole thumb and like the arm and everything.
33:43
Brett: It's just I always have to be massaging, like rubbing it, and that's something else like in my mind.
33:48
Brett: I'm like I don't want to do it in public because I in my mind I'm thinking other people are like, oh, he's just holding it out there to like show off.
33:57
Brett: I'm like, but I don't know, it's just, I don't think it would come off like that, I know, but it's just like mental.
34:02
Brett: Everyone deals with that, that's true.
34:04
Brett: Um, just being confident, um, confidence, yeah, but wait, what were we talking about?
34:13
Bryce: I think I just asked like what?
34:15
Bryce: I don't know actually, what were we talking about?
34:19
Bryce: It's just going on, but um, you talked about like doing epoxy and things like that and being an inspiration, yeah, so I guess, yeah, that's what it was.
34:29
Brett: Inspiration in this world, um, I know, in the future that's what I want to do, but leading up to that, um, it's hard to figure it out.
34:40
Bryce: Dude, it's tough.
34:40
Bryce: Yeah, it's hard, especially like with social media and stuff Like I see you post like at least this is the thoughts that go through my head.
34:49
Bryce: Like every time I post something, I'm like I know people are going to hate this and like someone's going to say something stupid.
34:55
Brett: You always have the haters though.
34:57
Bryce: Yeah, and that's the thing that, like, I've come to just realize it's like no matter what you do, someone's going to have a different opinion of it.
35:02
Bryce: And then I heard this quote from, I think it was Alex Hormozy, if you know who that guy is, but it was basically that no one doing better than you is ever going to shoot you down.
35:15
Bryce: If someone's doing better than you in life, they're not going to take time out of their day and be like hey, by the way, that video sucked.
35:21
Bryce: You're terrible.
35:23
Bryce: You should stop.
35:24
Bryce: It's always coming from losers.
35:26
Brett: Yeah, and those are the people that you want to be around.
35:28
Brett: Is the people that don't?
35:32
Bryce: Yeah, man, that's one thing I've learned a ton is like the importance of who you surround yourself with.
35:36
Bryce: Yeah, absolutely, whether it's getting through like a difficult time or just in general, it's like learning how to be a better person, like I don't know, mentorship has been a big thing for me.
35:46
Bryce: Um, I haven't been a mentor, but I mean like asking other people and like finding people who are like hey, you have a pretty good life, you seem like you got it all together.
35:56
Bryce: What are you doing?
35:57
Bryce: That kind of thing.
35:57
Bryce: And, um, I mean I'm sure people will ask you the same thing with, like you know, if they go through, go through something difficult and, um, if they get injured, like yeah, you'll be a resource to them.
36:08
Brett: Man, yeah, I think that's amazing it's cool because, um, um for me, like just giving that, like you got this, bro, you know, like I feel like it means a lot more for the other people because they've seen how much I've gone through yeah, and so I, I love just kind of being that person that just kind of gives yeah, man a boost of um excitement or confidence, or, and so, as as much as I don't have it like I, I love giving it to other people.
36:39
Bryce: Yeah, and just being that person I mean that's huge, like I don't know, it's a goodwill compounds very fast and like the more that you're reaching out to people and trying to help, like this is gonna sound so corny and cheesy, but I feel like like the universe rewards that kind of behavior.
36:56
Brett: Yeah, um, and I don't know and little do they know me.
37:01
Brett: Giving them confidence and like words of advice, it actually helps me.
37:05
Bryce: Yeah too, and so it's like a win-win yeah, man, I mean, that's what I tell everyone.
37:11
Bryce: Getting after it's all about is like it's a community dedicated to helping you improve and helping others do the same.
37:17
Bryce: I gotta work on the wording.
37:18
Bryce: I told ali yesterday but yeah, basically it's like you come here and then you're committing to also go help other people, either from the things that you learn or whatever.
37:27
Brett: But yeah, my dad has been like a big role model in that sense Like he's always serving others before himself.
37:36
Brett: And so just growing up with that it's been a huge blessing in my life.
37:41
Brett: And so just growing up with that, it's it's been a huge blessing in my life.
37:45
Brett: Yeah, and so, um, definitely, my parents have been my biggest supporters.
37:47
Bryce: Yeah, dude, so I give it all to them for sure yeah, so what's uh next next plans for you like, um, do you have a social media?
37:57
Brett: you should start something like that um, yeah, I've been doing like those videos that I make.
38:01
Brett: Yeah, they're more so for me they're good though.
38:05
Bryce: Yeah, I mean people like them.
38:06
Brett: But when I'm going through a hard time, I'll make something like that and post it.
38:11
Brett: Yeah, and it just gives me I don't know that inspiration.
38:17
Brett: You know like, yeah, you've done this Cause a lot of times.
38:21
Brett: You go through life and you forget what you've done.
38:24
Brett: Yeah, at least for me.
38:26
Brett: I'm really hard on myself.
38:28
Brett: Yeah, dude.
38:30
Bryce: I don't know what it is about, guys, but we freaking suck by the way.
38:32
Bryce: We talk about ourselves.
38:33
Bryce: Yeah, to ourselves, absolutely.
38:35
Bryce: But yeah, I mean it is important to, like I don't know.
38:40
Bryce: Remember where you came from, remember the lessons that you've learned, remember what you've been through, because all of that makes you who you are.
38:45
Bryce: Remember all the good that you've done.
38:47
Bryce: Yeah.
38:47
Bryce: Yeah, for sure, and like, um, I had on this, uh, this girl yesterday.
38:53
Bryce: She was, um, she won the national championship for Javelin at BYU.
38:57
Bryce: Yeah, um, and she was talking about how, like, or maybe I was saying this, but one of us was saying, like we caught ourselves talking really bad about ourselves the other day and, um, the immediate thing to do is like, reframe it and be like I'm not that bad, like I know I do other good things, um, and that's the thing like you can easily spot the bad.
39:16
Bryce: Our brains are so good at it and they're good at finding evidence of it too, absolutely.
39:18
Bryce: And so it thing like you can easily spot the bad, our brains are so good at it and they're good at finding evidence of it too, absolutely.
39:24
Bryce: And so it's like you have to control your thoughts.
39:26
Bryce: You have to control what you're thinking about, because otherwise you can spiral pretty fast, really fast oh yeah, dude, that's why it's been a huge roller coaster for me.
39:33
Brett: It's just like I just get those bad thoughts, you know, and it's like I don't want to shut them out.
39:40
Brett: It's like I want to feel, feel it, and sometimes you do need to feel that to get through and past it, and so I mean I'm still working on it.
39:49
Brett: Um, there's a lot to unravel that I haven't unraveled yet, but, um, for the most part, like I think, just staying positive and happy, yeah man.
39:58
Brett: Yeah, that's huge, I think.
39:59
Brett: Just staying positive and happy, yeah, man.
40:00
Bryce: Yeah, that's huge.
40:01
Bryce: Stay positive and happy, like focus on the good where you can.
40:03
Bryce: But I mean, I think the theme of this episode is just never give up, never give up.
40:09
Bryce: Don't stop Type shit, bro.
40:11
Bryce: That's a huge thing, like anything you're doing in life, if you like.
40:18
Bryce: Once you start running, because I'm going to get you into it Um, like that's the thing that you always have to remind yourself is just never give up, never give up.
40:24
Bryce: Um, I had my buddy on.
40:25
Bryce: He's a DJ down in Arizona.
40:27
Bryce: Oh, hell yeah.
40:28
Bryce: Yeah.
40:28
Brett: He does like the Diamondbacks games and stuff.
40:30
Brett: He's really yeah, that's cool.
40:41
Bryce: Um, but he, he started like running, I think two years ago, and now he's like into triathlons and stuff.
40:44
Bryce: And, uh, he said that this one old guy looked at him at like his first race and he's like, um, your race, your pace, like you go as slow or as fast as you need to, but like don't stop, yeah, don't give up, finish, yeah.
40:51
Bryce: And I think that's like another great lesson we can pull is, like you know, everyone is is in different phases of life.
40:59
Bryce: Like so many of our friends from high school are like doing way different things than what they said they were going to, and others are just like you know, having kids, having families, like it's wild, um, and it's like not fair to yourself to compare yourself to someone else.
41:15
Bryce: Absolutely like your own experience is unique to you.
41:18
Bryce: Yeah, um, but you're in the driver's seat and you get to dictate what happens.
41:23
Brett: Yeah, never settle.
41:24
Brett: Yeah, that's been a big model of mine is just never settling.
41:27
Brett: Yeah, because I know people I mean our generation's pretty good at it, like realizing, to not settle, to follow your dreams.
41:37
Brett: And you know, chase that freedom, follow your dreams.
41:44
Brett: And yeah, you know, chase that freedom.
41:44
Brett: But I mean um, in past, like our parents generation, like, yeah, you get a job you worked at nine to five and that's it, yeah, for the rest of your life.
41:50
Bryce: Yeah, it's tough, and so I think finding that um freedom and chasing dreams for sure um get after it after man, yeah, I mean I'm trying to do the same thing, like um, when I was telling you I hate bringing this up again, but when I was sick, like I would only listen to podcasts, bro, bring it up as much as you want.
42:09
Bryce: I mean, I learned a lot during that time.
42:10
Bryce: So it's like um, I don't know.
42:13
Brett: It wouldn't be fair to like talk about it, because that really made me who I am today, dude, honestly, and that's like every time I meet someone it's with my hand, like they always ask about it, really, yeah, and so mine is a little bit more noticeable than yours, but I mean still share it bro.
42:28
Bryce: Yeah, I mean it's it's everyone has dark times.
42:31
Bryce: But, like podcasting, listening to podcasts got me through it and then I was like I feel like I could hopefully help someone who might be going through something similar and and then bringing people on and hearing their stories and giving it back to the audience, helping the same kind of thing that it helps them.
42:48
Bryce: Um, but like that's, that's my dream is like building a community that's just aimed to help each other grow.
42:54
Bryce: Dude, I love um and you're helping too, like by being on and sharing your story.
42:59
Bryce: No, dude.
42:59
Brett: I was actually so excited when you hit me up and asked if I wanted to.
43:03
Brett: I love being that like inspiration, you know.
43:07
Bryce: Yeah, it's huge and it goes a long way.
43:11
Bryce: Who knows.
43:11
Bryce: Like I always think about this, like anytime I'm making a podcast or like recording a video or something like that.
43:20
Bryce: But like if someone comes across it and they listen to it or they watch it, and that was like the breaking point.
43:24
Bryce: Like maybe they were like, oh man, I really want to get out and exercise and get healthy again, or I really want to take a chance on a business or a job, and then they hear or see something like from anything getting after wise, and then they're like, okay, well, I'm gonna do it.
43:38
Bryce: Like, yeah, that's obviously the dream I want people to be like, okay, I'm going to take a chance on myself, because it is scary and it is hard.
43:48
Bryce: Anything difficult is not going to be easy to attain.
43:51
Bryce: Absolutely, I mean, yeah, man, even you with your recovery.
43:55
Bryce: I think it shows real character in the way that you've handled it and everything.
44:01
Bryce: Thank you, dude.
44:03
Bryce: You'll be an inspiration.
44:04
Bryce: You already are.
44:05
Bryce: I think that's awesome.
44:07
Brett: I appreciate that man, but yeah.
44:08
Bryce: I mean, have you had anyone reach out to you that you've helped, or anything like that?
44:16
Brett: Definitely, um, definitely Um.
44:18
Brett: I mean just little comments.
44:20
Brett: People like um text and just ask part of like what has helped you the most, or you know like what's gotten you through all the hard, and so just like little stuff like that, um, and so I mean hopefully it's helped them, but I, yeah, I mean I think it's awesome like you just keep posting social stuff, dude, and all that stuff that, um, you want to do, like, yeah, it'll get out there, like the message will get get across to someone I have a love-hate relationship for uh.
44:52
Bryce: Social media do me too.
44:53
Bryce: If I didn't have to be on it, I wouldn't absolutely.
44:56
Bryce: But, um, I don't know.
44:58
Bryce: I feel like it's also a great way to reach people, exactly like there's some things I hate about it, but there's also some good things, like I've learned some cool things, but it's just a distraction.
45:07
Bryce: It really is Like that's at the end of the day.
45:09
Bryce: It's a distraction, man, absolutely.
45:11
Brett: But I mean eventually, like when I'm like fully confident and like actually have a kind of like a daily routine and schedule and um, just doing a little bit better financially, I think I will probably start posting more videos like that, um and start actually talking on them.
45:29
Bryce: Yeah, but that's like the hardest part is like talking dude it is the hardest part when I, if you go, listen to the first episode of this thing, it's the worst yeah, I was so nervous coming here.
45:39
Brett: I'm like what the?
45:40
Brett: Hell am I gonna say I?
45:41
Bryce: know everyone says that, but it's like I don't know.
45:43
Bryce: It's um trying to keep it conversational and like easy and light and yeah, it kind of just flows.
45:48
Bryce: But that's how I am just easy bro.
45:50
Bryce: Yeah, man, I mean I've known you since high school you've always been that way this is a chiller and for some reason you're still on my phone as bryce fetus and I don't know why was that a name dude?
46:01
Bryce: I don't know that you probably called me it.
46:03
Bryce: I probably called you that on the volleyball court.
46:05
Bryce: Yeah, fetus, that's messed up with me.
46:07
Bryce: Man, what?
46:08
Brett: am I doing?
46:09
Bryce: that was rude, that's weird bro, we both grown a lot, absolutely um, but that's cool, man.
46:15
Bryce: I mean I'm sure, like your family's proud of you.
46:19
Brett: Like, yeah, it's cool because my like, I'm the youngest of four boys and my brothers will shoot me a text here and there.
46:27
Brett: Like Spencer, he does it a lot, but he just says like how much I'm an inspiration to him and I'm like, dude, I'm your younger brother, how can I be an inspiration?
46:36
Brett: But no, it's cool.
46:37
Brett: Um, family is everything and the um.
46:47
Brett: This whole journey has brought me closer with family and just like a different mindset, like they're gonna be with you for the rest of your life, like experience all the things that you experience, and so I think, just finding that connection and being closer with family, um because those are your people yeah, that that's the uh.
47:05
Bryce: Something I learned too is like I don't know it.
47:08
Bryce: Also for me, like when I was going through all my stuff and like when with ali and I and the fertility stuff, it's like it always is a chance for you to like remember what's actually important.
47:18
Bryce: Yeah, and for me it always comes back to like my family yeah they're the ones that, like, I love the most.
47:24
Brett: They're my best friends, and they never give up on you yeah like no matter how much I shut them out, like they're still gonna hit me up and text me and call me.
47:32
Brett: It's like why, yeah, why do you still love me, you know yeah I mean, that's it.
47:37
Bryce: They love you, bro.
47:38
Bryce: Yeah, and that's uh.
47:39
Bryce: That's what a good family does.
47:40
Bryce: So you got a freaking awesome family.
47:43
Brett: Yeah, amazing family.
47:45
Bryce: That's crazy.
47:46
Bryce: But yeah, dude, anything else you want to share or leave with the audience, just a quote?
47:55
Bryce: Oh yeah, let's go.
47:57
Bryce: Man, that's actually funny.
48:00
Bryce: Usually I tell people to prepare a quote that they like, oh yeah.
48:03
Brett: Let's go, man.
48:03
Brett: That's actually funny.
48:04
Brett: Usually I tell people to prepare a quote that they like.
48:06
Brett: Oh, no shit, I don't even think I told you no, you didn't by.
48:07
Brett: Here I am, it's meant to be, yeah.
48:08
Brett: It's meant to be.
48:08
Brett: This was actually my mom texting me this one day, way back when.
48:12
Brett: Yeah, but it's what lies behind us, and what lies before us are small matters compared to what lies within us.
48:20
Brett: Every day may not be good, but there's something good in every day, dude, I love that.
48:26
Brett: It's pretty cool.
48:27
Brett: That is pretty cool.
48:28
Brett: I'm going to read that last part again Every day may not be good, but there's something good in every day, it's true.
48:36
Brett: I think just having that mindset will get you far, yeah.
48:38
Brett: Yeah, it's like what we were talking about with looking for the bad.
48:39
Brett: I think just having that mindset will get you far.
48:41
Bryce: Yeah, it's like what we were talking about with looking for the bad that forces you to look for the good Exactly, and allows you to never give up 100%.
48:48
Bryce: Yeah, man, I mean, allie and I, we got like our results back yesterday that like our test results were bad.
48:55
Bryce: It was a pretty bad day.
48:57
Bryce: But, then, like you know, allie and I had dinner and there's good moments in every day, absolutely, and I love that man.
49:03
Bryce: That's such a good mindset to have.
49:05
Bryce: Yeah, and I think it's amazing what you're doing, like you're showing the world like, hey, I'm willing to relearn these things, I'm going to build myself back, I'm going to help others along the way.
49:16
Brett: Yeah, and along the way, yeah, and you know we need more people like that, yeah, and I think the big thing, too, is just be real and raw.
49:25
Brett: Um, people don't just want to see your good side, they want to see your bad side too, and that's something that I'm working on is just being more open and sharing, because I mean, there's days that I can't get in out of bed before 12 pm yeah you know like noon and all, just like, oh, I'm so lazy.
49:43
Brett: You know like you just get in your head but it's like you can still make something out of that day yeah, for sure and so to the people they're not alone, you're not alone and so I think that's just the biggest thing dude, I love it.
49:59
Bryce: Yeah, keep doing it, man.
50:00
Bryce: Like, don't stop.
50:01
Bryce: I appreciate that.
50:01
Bryce: Never give up on your dream either, man, because I think it's one that we need more of.
50:06
Bryce: Yeah, Like it just shows people that they're capable of really doing whatever they want.
50:13
Bryce: Because you're doing it and like you're injured, you've had to fight back.
50:18
Brett: It's inspiring, man, thank you, I love it, so thank you.
50:24
Brett: I appreciate you coming on, dude.
50:24
Bryce: Yeah, it's been such an honor bro.
50:25
Bryce: No, it's fun.
50:26
Bryce: I, I love it.
50:26
Bryce: And like I remember I saw a video of you um, it's one of the videos you posted and I was like I want to reach out to him and like ask if he'd be willing to come on the podcast because like it seemed like he did a lot of healing and stuff and I was like I just I don't know if it would, like, you know, turn him off or anything like that if he doesn't want to talk about it like I was pretty worried about it, but I was like you know what?
50:49
Brett: I just yeah, dude's got something good to say, I want to have him on.
50:52
Brett: I appreciate it.
50:53
Brett: It's like kind of just um an everyday thing.
50:56
Brett: So like people ask about it, they're um, I'm just open now, kind of sharing the story, um, because I can't run away from it as much as I want to, I can't yeah.
51:07
Brett: And so, but yeah, I think I think it's been good.
51:10
Brett: As much as this has helped you, it's helped me too, so I appreciate that and getting out of my comfort zone.
51:16
Bryce: You know, yeah, man, that's that's what life's all about.
51:18
Bryce: Yeah zone.
51:18
Bryce: You know, yeah, man, that's that's what life's all about.
51:20
Bryce: Yeah, if you're comfortable for too long, you're not going to be growing, exactly stagnant, yeah that's a dangerous place to be we got bigger things, you know, yeah, never settle.
51:27
Bryce: It's never easy, but hey, that's, that's, uh, why it's called discomfort.
51:30
Bryce: So yeah, it is what it is.
51:33
Bryce: But yeah, man, um, what's your, what's your instagram so people can follow you, and uh it's just bryce turley right on.
51:40
Bryce: Okay, I'll put in the show notes, but, okay, yeah, you can.
51:42
Bryce: Um, yeah, so people can follow you along and and check your stuff out because, perfect, it really is like you should make some more videos, man.
51:50
Bryce: One you're talented and then two like they're.
51:52
Bryce: They're very yeah moving like I think it's it's cool to see.
51:57
Brett: So some of it is, uh, just me having fun.
51:59
Brett: Yeah, hey, that's cool too.
52:00
Brett: It shows you you're not held down.
52:03
Brett: Yeah, just have fun with your life.
52:04
Brett: You never know when your last day is going to be.
52:07
Bryce: That's true, dude.
52:08
Bryce: I study a lot of like stoicism and stuff and they talk about that all the time is memento mori?
52:12
Bryce: It's like that means literally remember you must die.
52:21
Brett: Yeah, like I was an inch away from hitting my artery, really, yeah, and I could have bled out and died that night, dang man.
52:24
Brett: And so it just puts you in a perspective like, yeah, chase your dreams, have fun if you're not having a good time.
52:29
Brett: Like, find something that just makes you happy.
52:31
Brett: Yeah, because that's really what matters I mean that's, that's.
52:34
Bryce: It is like yeah, don't settle, I love it, man don't settle, never give up, that's what I'm talking about.
52:40
Bryce: That's it, I love it.
52:41
Bryce: Man, don't settle and never give up.
52:41
Bryce: That's what I'm talking about.
52:42
Bryce: That's it, dude.
52:42
Bryce: I love it, bro.
52:43
Bryce: Well, again, I appreciate you coming on and sharing your story and being open about it.
52:47
Bryce: I think it's huge.
52:48
Bryce: You're welcome For everyone else listening and watching, appreciate it and, as always, keep getting after it.
52:54
Bryce: Get after it baby, let's go.
