- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, it's your person, Michelle. I guess here again because
- 0:04Speaker 1: that's what I'm supposed to do. Right, You come here
- 0:08Speaker 1: and then we like talk about this lane stuff, and
- 0:11Speaker 1: then you go away or I go away, or we
- 0:13Speaker 1: both go away, and we're doing this because it's fun
- 0:16Speaker 1: and you're having a good time. Right, You're not just
- 0:19Speaker 1: here because you feel obligated to be here. Right. You
- 0:23Speaker 1: know you could leave, right. I mean, I'm not saying
- 0:26Speaker 1: you should leave. That would kind of make me sad,
- 0:29Speaker 1: but it's just a nice time to remind you that. Hey,
- 0:34Speaker 1: I don't know why I'm saying any of this. So
- 0:38Speaker 1: I don't have very much to talk about this week,
- 0:41Speaker 1: you know, anime wise, because I don't know. I finally
- 0:44Speaker 1: finished which ha hadly. I really forgot how to pronounce that,
- 0:50Speaker 1: and that was fun, really big cliffhanger. But hey, other
- 0:54Speaker 1: than that, I really don't have much to say about
- 0:56Speaker 1: anything because I don't really know. It's been it's been
- 1:00Speaker 1: a thing. I mean, I guess this wasn't the rough week.
- 1:03Speaker 1: It was the week before that was rough whatever. Anyway,
- 1:06Speaker 1: my cat lost a tooth, as in it was forcibly
- 1:09Speaker 1: removed from her skull because it was slowly breaking itself
- 1:15Speaker 1: down and probably causing her pain. So hopefully she's happy
- 1:19Speaker 1: now because she wasn't happy for a little while because
- 1:24Speaker 1: it probably hurt to take it out. But hey, I
- 1:28Speaker 1: don't really know what's going on or honestly why i'm
- 1:31Speaker 1: telling you this. Maybe I'm not having a good day.
- 1:35Speaker 1: I'm not sure. So let's talk about Lane before I
- 1:39Speaker 1: regret existing some more. So before we start, I'm just
- 1:43Speaker 1: gonna tell you now, this episode's gonna be very short,
- 1:46Speaker 1: probably because I didn't realize going in that this is
- 1:50Speaker 1: partially a recap episode. I didn't remember us having one.
- 1:53Speaker 1: But again, it seems like I don't remember most of
- 1:56Speaker 1: the things that happened in Lane. So I actually almost
- 2:00Speaker 1: stopped because I started taking notes on it, and then
- 2:03Speaker 1: I was like, oh shit, it's a recap episode. And
- 2:05Speaker 1: then I was like, what do I do now? Should
- 2:07Speaker 1: I just go to episode twelve? And that's what I
- 2:10Speaker 1: was going to do, and we would just be like
- 2:12Speaker 1: ahead a week and that would be fine, except you
- 2:14Speaker 1: wouldn't know that and you'd get all surprised and confused
- 2:16Speaker 1: when you came to listen to this. But I was like, well,
- 2:19Speaker 1: it's got really good music. So I'm gonna just keep
- 2:22Speaker 1: watching it, and then all of a sudden it wasn't
- 2:24Speaker 1: a recap episode anymore. So I'm really glad I continued.
- 2:28Speaker 1: And if you started watching this, I mean, the very
- 2:31Speaker 1: beginning isn't recap. But then if you were watching it
- 2:33Speaker 1: and you were like, oh shit, it's a recap episode
- 2:35Speaker 1: and you just stopped and went on with your life instead,
- 2:39Speaker 1: or went to episode twelve, you probably should go back
- 2:42Speaker 1: and watch this episode because there was a bunch of
- 2:45Speaker 1: really important stuff. Well I don't know if it's important. Honestly,
- 2:50Speaker 1: I'm not really sure what is important in Lane, because
- 2:53Speaker 1: this ends up contradicting like a lot of things from
- 2:55Speaker 1: the previous episodes. But obviously we'll talk about that when
- 2:58Speaker 1: we get there. Oh yeah, again, this is probably gonna
- 3:02Speaker 1: be short, I guess, because I only had to take
- 3:05Speaker 1: like what like eight or nine pages of notes, I guess,
- 3:08Speaker 1: and it only took me like an hour and forty
- 3:10Speaker 1: five minutes or something crazy to actually take the notes.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Usually it takes upwards or four hours at least to
- 3:16Speaker 1: write notes on a twenty three minute episode, because I
- 3:21Speaker 1: am insane, and also I'm just really slow, and I
- 3:24Speaker 1: don't like to type, so just doing it with my
- 3:27Speaker 1: hands and some paper and that is slow too. Whatever,
- 3:32Speaker 1: let's do this before it changed my mind. I'm not
- 3:35Speaker 1: gonna change my mind. I just that was the only
- 3:38Speaker 1: thing I thought that I could say there. So anyway,
- 3:41Speaker 1: episode eleven of Serial Experiments Lane is called infornography, which
- 3:47Speaker 1: I was like, is that a word, because I don't
- 3:50Speaker 1: think that's a word. So I looked it up and
- 3:53Speaker 1: it isn't a word. I mean, it's kind of a word,
- 3:56Speaker 1: but it's not like a word that you can look
- 3:58Speaker 1: up in the dictionary. I mean sort of it because
- 4:00Speaker 1: it's in the Urban Dictionary. And I guess it means
- 4:04Speaker 1: like an addiction to data more or less or the
- 4:10Speaker 1: like abuse of excessive use of information. I think, so yeah,
- 4:16Speaker 1: it's one of the two. But the addiction to data
- 4:18Speaker 1: thing and the addiction to I guess information, I think
- 4:21Speaker 1: is the kind of the main one. And it's kind
- 4:23Speaker 1: of like you get like a pseudo sexual thrill from
- 4:27Speaker 1: the pursuit and finding of information. Okay, so yeah, And
- 4:33Speaker 1: I think I saw somebody like on Reddit or on
- 4:36Speaker 1: a different site that was an Urban dictionary say that
- 4:38Speaker 1: it was a you know, uh, combination of the words
- 4:42Speaker 1: information and pornography, so I guess I don't know when
- 4:46Speaker 1: this word started existing. But besides finding it an urban
- 4:51Speaker 1: dictionary in a couple other places, most of the search
- 4:54Speaker 1: results that I found when I look this up for
- 4:56Speaker 1: for Lane, And that could just be because it's me
- 5:01Speaker 1: and it's my Google search, which means most of the
- 5:04Speaker 1: things will be anime related if they can be. But
- 5:07Speaker 1: I thought it was really interesting that I basically just
- 5:09Speaker 1: found Lane episode eleven stuff. So yeah, so now you know,
- 5:16Speaker 1: I guess, And I actually think now that I know
- 5:19Speaker 1: what the title means, because I didn't look it up
- 5:20Speaker 1: until just like a minute ago. I think it is
- 5:23Speaker 1: an okay title for this episode. Not great, but pretty okay.
- 5:27Speaker 1: So I'm gonna give it to them anyway. If you
- 5:30Speaker 1: remember from last week, Lane was hanging out with God
- 5:33Speaker 1: in the middle of the street and God was being
- 5:35Speaker 1: like real creepy and saying that Lane should like love
- 5:38Speaker 1: him and that he loved her and that she basically
- 5:41Speaker 1: wasn't real and she was saying that's a lie and
- 5:44Speaker 1: all the stuff, and then she made all the wires
- 5:46Speaker 1: come down and they like went around her on the ground,
- 5:48Speaker 1: all like writhing and electricy stuffing, which is really dangerous
- 5:54Speaker 1: because they're high voltage lines and they can kill you,
- 5:57Speaker 1: so we don't start there. Thanks so much, Lunch. I
- 6:01Speaker 1: kind of wanted to know how that ended up, Like
- 6:04Speaker 1: I guess, I mean, the thing to do is if
- 6:06Speaker 1: there's like power lines all over the ground, you probably
- 6:08Speaker 1: want to call the cops. You want to call emergency
- 6:10Speaker 1: services at least, and like you're electrical company, because they
- 6:14Speaker 1: need to turn off the wires so that they can
- 6:16Speaker 1: fix them, just in case this ever happens to you
- 6:19Speaker 1: where you're standing in the middle street talking to God
- 6:21Speaker 1: and then you get real stressed out and you just
- 6:24Speaker 1: knock down all the wires around you. Now, this only
- 6:27Speaker 1: counts if you aren't somehow like immune to electricity, which
- 6:31Speaker 1: she could be. But also it would be nice to
- 6:34Speaker 1: let everybody know about it, because you don't want, you know,
- 6:36Speaker 1: someone coming out of their house and walking into like
- 6:39Speaker 1: a charged electrical area. That would be bad too. But
- 6:42Speaker 1: it is on the ground, so maybe all the electricity
- 6:45Speaker 1: is going in the ground. Okay, that's enough. That's enough, Michelle.
- 6:48Speaker 1: I don't even know what I'm saying. Anyway, I wanted
- 6:51Speaker 1: to know what was gonna happen with that, and now
- 6:52Speaker 1: I don't know, and I probably won't ever know. We
- 6:55Speaker 1: start the episode with the normal stuff we start with
- 6:58Speaker 1: every time, including present day, present time, and then like
- 7:02Speaker 1: seven laughs. I can't laugh today. It would be too disingenuous,
- 7:08Speaker 1: so I'm not going to. And then we know the
- 7:11Speaker 1: opening theme. Back from the opening theme, things get a
- 7:15Speaker 1: little different. Normally we have all that normal shit. It's
- 7:18Speaker 1: not quite like that this time. I mean it is,
- 7:21Speaker 1: but we have things interspliced with it. So we have
- 7:24Speaker 1: the people like crossing the street with like a green filter.
- 7:27Speaker 1: That's totally normal. But then we go to Lane's arm
- 7:30Speaker 1: with like a wire wrapping around it, Like it looks
- 7:32Speaker 1: like the wire itself is wrapping itself around her arm.
- 7:35Speaker 1: I don't see any thing, like, I don't see your
- 7:38Speaker 1: other hand, you know, physically doing it or anything. It
- 7:42Speaker 1: just looks like the wire is doing it itself, which
- 7:44Speaker 1: is a little weird. Then we see that red crosswalk
- 7:48Speaker 1: light that we always see, and then we see a
- 7:51Speaker 1: wire like kind of by Lane's hair. Maybe it's kind
- 7:54Speaker 1: of a weird shot. I wasn't really sure what's happening here.
- 7:57Speaker 1: And then we cut to a very close up shot
- 7:59Speaker 1: of like a lot of code on I guess Nabb's screen.
- 8:02Speaker 1: It's like scrolling very quickly. I think it's code, I'm
- 8:04Speaker 1: not really sure. Then we see kind of a normal
- 8:07Speaker 1: city shot that we always see, and then we cut
- 8:10Speaker 1: to Lane's hands as she's like holding wires and like
- 8:13Speaker 1: connecting them, you know, putting a male and female connector
- 8:16Speaker 1: together or whatever they'll We then see her putting an
- 8:20Speaker 1: electrode on her face, and then we go to that
- 8:23Speaker 1: building where we're looking up at it with the fast
- 8:26Speaker 1: moving dark clouds that we always see here, and we
- 8:29Speaker 1: go to the title card, which is really different this time.
- 8:32Speaker 1: So it says Infornography Layer eleven, but it's on a
- 8:37Speaker 1: black screen instead of kind of a blue one, and
- 8:41Speaker 1: it does somewhere say make me feel make me sad
- 8:43Speaker 1: in it, but I can't remember where that was, but
- 8:44Speaker 1: it was somewhere weird and different. But so there's a
- 8:48Speaker 1: black screen and then a bunch of little blue screens
- 8:50Speaker 1: kind of pop up kind of in the middle, kind
- 8:52Speaker 1: of like in a cross shape because we're just trying
- 8:54Speaker 1: to fit them all in here. But each screen is
- 8:56Speaker 1: a title card from one of the previous episodes, and
- 8:59Speaker 1: for some reason, Episode seven which is Society is repeated twice,
- 9:03Speaker 1: I think because for whatever reason, like it, it just
- 9:06Speaker 1: wouldn't make the shape without doubling one of them, so
- 9:10Speaker 1: not that. And then in each corner it's still black
- 9:14Speaker 1: and it has the first episode title card, which is
- 9:17Speaker 1: layer zero one weird with red fonts on the black screen.
- 9:22Speaker 1: So this was kind of cool. It was like kind
- 9:24Speaker 1: of interesting to see, like the kind of changes in
- 9:27Speaker 1: the beginning. I liked it. Anyway, we see Lane's house.
- 9:32Speaker 1: We are kind of looking up at it from like
- 9:34Speaker 1: close by on the ground. It kind of looks like
- 9:37Speaker 1: and there are two very brightly lit windows. One of
- 9:40Speaker 1: them is the bay window in Lane's room. I don't
- 9:42Speaker 1: know what the other one is. I don't know if
- 9:43Speaker 1: that's another window in her room. It's like right next
- 9:45Speaker 1: to it, so whatever. But they're like really really bright,
- 9:48Speaker 1: and it's dark outside, and the sky is kind of
- 9:52Speaker 1: like this night dark blue, and there are these red
- 9:55Speaker 1: clouds overhead, and of course wires humming as well. We
- 9:58Speaker 1: get to the main area, you know, her open living plan, kitchen,
- 10:03Speaker 1: dining room, living room, and we're looking at it from
- 10:06Speaker 1: the kitchen, kind of pulling back kind of into the
- 10:09Speaker 1: kitchen and there's this humming in the background that's not
- 10:12Speaker 1: the wires, but it's like not a humming we're used to.
- 10:15Speaker 1: And on the right side of the screen there's like
- 10:17Speaker 1: a light like we can see light kind of pushing
- 10:19Speaker 1: into the frame, but we can't see the light source,
- 10:21Speaker 1: and I was like, what the fuck is that. We
- 10:23Speaker 1: finally pull back enough to see that we're looking out
- 10:25Speaker 1: from inside the refrigerator, which I thought was really really cool.
- 10:29Speaker 1: So the refrigerator's just standing there open, trying to keep
- 10:32Speaker 1: itself cool, obviously, and we can see some food that's
- 10:36Speaker 1: kind of, you know, like rotting in the refrigerator, Like
- 10:38Speaker 1: there's this tomato that looks like it's all like, you know,
- 10:41Speaker 1: it's turning brown, partially eaten. And there's kind of the
- 10:44Speaker 1: remnants of a brown banana, which didn't need to be
- 10:47Speaker 1: in the refrigerator anyway, but I guess it was. Actually
- 10:52Speaker 1: bananas can turn like black and brown when they get cold, too,
- 10:56Speaker 1: so maybe it's just cold. And then there's also this
- 11:00Speaker 1: little can it says haku on it, which I was like,
- 11:03Speaker 1: what kind of food is that? I don't know, that's
- 11:05Speaker 1: not what a food is called. I think it's a
- 11:08Speaker 1: way to say white. I don't know, but there's a
- 11:10Speaker 1: little symbol on it that's like pink, and it kind
- 11:13Speaker 1: of looks like a you know, upside down hardish and
- 11:16Speaker 1: I think maybe it's a peach, because like it's like
- 11:19Speaker 1: a little can that's open and it has like a
- 11:21Speaker 1: little thing in liquid. So I'm wondering if it's like
- 11:23Speaker 1: a can of like white peaches and like a liquid.
- 11:27Speaker 1: I don't know if that's true. That's what my brain said,
- 11:30Speaker 1: but anyway, this food does not look like it's in
- 11:32Speaker 1: good shape anymore, because obviously the refrigerators having trouble cooling
- 11:36Speaker 1: itself since it's just standing there open and it is
- 11:39Speaker 1: the only light source in the room, which is pretty cool.
- 11:42Speaker 1: We go to a white screen now and words are
- 11:46Speaker 1: kind of like they're like in place, but they're kind
- 11:48Speaker 1: of like morphing slightly, and it says, is it not
- 11:52Speaker 1: so suspicious to be called a memory? We cut to
- 11:54Speaker 1: the faucet dripping slowly into the sink. We pan down
- 11:59Speaker 1: and see that there is an assortment of dirty dishes
- 12:01Speaker 1: in it, which is gross. Honestly, I really really don't
- 12:05Speaker 1: like dirty dishes. Like I don't know what the hell's
- 12:07Speaker 1: wrong with me like I'd eat trash out of a dumpster,
- 12:10Speaker 1: but dirty dishes like gross the shit out of me.
- 12:13Speaker 1: So now you know. Now we see an open school
- 12:16Speaker 1: bag and a black shirt just kind of laying on
- 12:19Speaker 1: the floor. Maybe it's like a school shirt, but I
- 12:22Speaker 1: wasn't totally shirt. We fade out and we get some
- 12:25Speaker 1: like really cool, like guitar driven music here, and this
- 12:29Speaker 1: is when I was like, oh shit, it's a recap episode.
- 12:32Speaker 1: So we have like, I don't know, eight minutes or
- 12:35Speaker 1: so that is basically just like this really remixy recap.
- 12:41Speaker 1: There's almost no dialogue or anything. It's just images from
- 12:45Speaker 1: the show with again this kind of this like really
- 12:48Speaker 1: rock guitar driven music over it, and like weird filters
- 12:53Speaker 1: and things fading in and out like they weren't in
- 12:55Speaker 1: the episode. It kind of reminded me of like an
- 12:57Speaker 1: anime music video, like somebody was like, let's just make
- 13:01Speaker 1: listen to a music video real quick. I actually really
- 13:04Speaker 1: really liked it, but it is just recap and the
- 13:09Speaker 1: way that it's done, it's not like done in any
- 13:11Speaker 1: sort of order. It seemed like it was just like
- 13:14Speaker 1: we're just gonna shove these over here. So I feel like,
- 13:16Speaker 1: if you were to watch this without watching the show,
- 13:19Speaker 1: you wouldn't have any idea what's going on at all,
- 13:22Speaker 1: because I didn't. I still don't really have any idea
- 13:25Speaker 1: what's going on in the show. But this didn't help.
- 13:28Speaker 1: But I liked it. I think as far as recaps go,
- 13:31Speaker 1: it was short and it was cool actually, because I
- 13:35Speaker 1: do feel like somebody cared a little bit about this
- 13:38Speaker 1: and they were like, let's make this interesting. That being said,
- 13:42Speaker 1: it makes me go, uh, we didn't have enough content
- 13:45Speaker 1: for a full episode. That's weird, but whatever, so we're
- 13:49Speaker 1: doing the recap. I'm not gonna go through all of
- 13:51Speaker 1: the scenes in the recap and what's going on because
- 13:53Speaker 1: I don't even know what they were, so that would
- 13:57Speaker 1: make no sense. And I definitely didn't take notes on
- 13:59Speaker 1: them because at this point I thought I was going
- 14:01Speaker 1: to just transition to episode twelve and be talking to
- 14:05Speaker 1: you about that. But then all of a sudden, it
- 14:07Speaker 1: wasn't recap anymore, and we got a screen that says
- 14:11Speaker 1: in English, Alice love needs you. I don't I mean, okay,
- 14:18Speaker 1: I mean if you took out the word love, Alice
- 14:21Speaker 1: needs you make sense. So yeah, I don't know, whatever
- 14:25Speaker 1: but then we go black, and we fade into like
- 14:29Speaker 1: a red sky with black clouds or a black sky
- 14:32Speaker 1: with red clouds I wasn't really sure, being reflected in
- 14:35Speaker 1: her bay window, which is really kind of cool. And
- 14:37Speaker 1: that's when I realized that, like, this was no longer
- 14:40Speaker 1: recap because we really haven't seen a lot of red
- 14:42Speaker 1: clouds at all. So yeah, so it's being reflected in
- 14:47Speaker 1: the bay window, I think. And then we cut to
- 14:49Speaker 1: like a really bright light and then to that same
- 14:53Speaker 1: shot from earlier in the episode where we're kind of
- 14:56Speaker 1: looking up at her house with the you know, the
- 14:59Speaker 1: two very brightly lit windows, except now the sky is
- 15:03Speaker 1: more kind of red pink, and it looks just really upsetting,
- 15:08Speaker 1: like really really foreboding, like things are not going well
- 15:12Speaker 1: or they're not going to be going well. We cut
- 15:15Speaker 1: to a screen it's just full of blue static, and
- 15:17Speaker 1: then to Lane's mouth with that like clip or electrode
- 15:20Speaker 1: or whatever attached to her lip. Then back to static.
- 15:23Speaker 1: We now see one of her eyes as it opens,
- 15:26Speaker 1: and as she reacts to the light, her pupil gets smaller,
- 15:29Speaker 1: which I really like that detail. We cut very quickly
- 15:33Speaker 1: to the hologram screens moving around her, and then we
- 15:37Speaker 1: pan up from the ground on Lane, who is just
- 15:41Speaker 1: covered in wires. She's got electrodes on her like on
- 15:46Speaker 1: her ankle, her thighs, her arm, her cheeks. Cables are
- 15:50Speaker 1: running like into her shirt or nightgown I guess, which
- 15:55Speaker 1: I thought was real weird. And she is sitting on
- 15:59Speaker 1: the floor and she just looks kind of dazed, just
- 16:02Speaker 1: maybe like she's not in this plane of reality. She
- 16:05Speaker 1: lays down on the floor. God kind of fades in
- 16:08Speaker 1: and hovers near her and says, are you tired. Lane
- 16:12Speaker 1: is silent for a second. I am. God's like, You're
- 16:16Speaker 1: really incredible, but you may have gone too far. So
- 16:19Speaker 1: you loaded an emulator of the knobby into your own
- 16:22Speaker 1: brain to see what had happened. What It's dangerous to
- 16:26Speaker 1: subject yourself to too much information at your current capacity,
- 16:30Speaker 1: you'll certainly overflow. We see coolant in the system and pipes. Lane,
- 16:37Speaker 1: who is just kind of looking off into nothing, says,
- 16:40Speaker 1: am I a machine? WHOA God just kind of smirks.
- 16:45Speaker 1: Lane continues, don't talk to me like I'm a machine. Fuck,
- 16:50Speaker 1: I'm not. God's like, I'm sorry, I didn't mean too
- 16:54Speaker 1: This is basically a software problem. We're facing Lane. What
- 16:58Speaker 1: I've been telling you all this time that you are software,
- 17:01Speaker 1: You're not hardware. What Lane's like software? God says, yes,
- 17:09Speaker 1: an executable program with a body. Lane shakes her head no,
- 17:13Speaker 1: like really weakly, and then kind of partially sits up.
- 17:17Speaker 1: She's staring at something, but I don't know what it is,
- 17:21Speaker 1: because she's not staring directly at God. She's kind of
- 17:24Speaker 1: staring off into the dark, so maybe at the holographic
- 17:27Speaker 1: screens or maybe just at the darkness. She lays back down.
- 17:32Speaker 1: It fades black. We got to lots of wires humming
- 17:35Speaker 1: on a sky that looks like maybe it's sunrise. Lane
- 17:39Speaker 1: is walking down the street in her nightgown without shoes,
- 17:43Speaker 1: looking at the ground, and the wires are still humming overhead,
- 17:46Speaker 1: and she says, be quiet. Then she looks up. Be quiet.
- 17:52Speaker 1: She stops walking as she sees something weird, hunched behind
- 17:56Speaker 1: a telephone pole. I don't even know how to describe this.
- 17:59Speaker 1: It's just this non descript blobby thing. It's kind of
- 18:03Speaker 1: like grayish or pinkish or somethingish with friend's blotches. Something.
- 18:08Speaker 1: It morphs and kind of stands up almost like a person,
- 18:11Speaker 1: but still like a blog and just kind of glides
- 18:15Speaker 1: across the streets. As it passes by, it reveals Chisa
- 18:20Speaker 1: standing in the middle of the street as well. Lane
- 18:23Speaker 1: stares at her. Chisa really isn't looking at Lane though,
- 18:26Speaker 1: or I don't really think she's looking at anything. Lane's
- 18:29Speaker 1: face softens Chisa she starts to walk towards her. We
- 18:34Speaker 1: see just for a little while Lane's first person perspective
- 18:39Speaker 1: as she's getting closer to Chisa, and the camera is
- 18:41Speaker 1: just kind of swaying awkwardly, and I guess the image
- 18:45Speaker 1: is a little stuttered and like it drags a bit,
- 18:50Speaker 1: which is a little unnerving. It makes me worried for
- 18:53Speaker 1: like Lane's health and stuff. Anyway, Lane stops walking and says, Chisa,
- 18:59Speaker 1: we walked home from together one afternoon. Do you remember
- 19:02Speaker 1: that Chisa actually looks at her now, Lane continues, I
- 19:06Speaker 1: think I understand it all now, I finally understand what
- 19:09Speaker 1: you told me. Chisa kind of looks at Lane sadly
- 19:12Speaker 1: and says Lane. She closes her eyes and shakes her head.
- 19:17Speaker 1: Lane's like, what we hear a guy say, just remember
- 19:20Speaker 1: it's easy to die. Lane, Wayne turns her head and
- 19:23Speaker 1: we see a guy in the street behind her, wearing
- 19:27Speaker 1: like all black and holding what I thought was a
- 19:30Speaker 1: red lightsaber. I don't know, man, this could have been
- 19:33Speaker 1: done better, he continues, isn't that right? I see now
- 19:37Speaker 1: that it is a gun, not a lightsaber. It's a
- 19:39Speaker 1: gun with a laser sight, which tells me that this
- 19:42Speaker 1: is the dude who killed himself in Siberia, probably especially
- 19:46Speaker 1: now because we have a shot of the Assella drug,
- 19:48Speaker 1: which we haven't even talked about since episode two, which
- 19:51Speaker 1: is kind of like a wasted like plotline, honestly. We then,
- 19:55Speaker 1: after seeing the Aessella drug, get a flashback to that guy.
- 20:00Speaker 1: He's like freaking out right before he kills himself. She
- 20:03Speaker 1: say says, that's not true. There's nothing easy about dying.
- 20:07Speaker 1: There never is. Lane turns back to Chisa. What the
- 20:14Speaker 1: guy's like? What are you talking about? He smirks and
- 20:18Speaker 1: steps more into the light. Lane, you already have something
- 20:21Speaker 1: that'll let you do it? What? Lane turns to face
- 20:25Speaker 1: him again. What. She looks down at her hand and
- 20:28Speaker 1: realizes she's holding the gun now. She you know, kind
- 20:33Speaker 1: of raises it a little, like just looking at it,
- 20:35Speaker 1: trying to figure it out. The guy continues, I've already
- 20:39Speaker 1: taken the safety off. The trigger is kind of heavy,
- 20:42Speaker 1: so you cradle it with both hands and pull it
- 20:45Speaker 1: with your thumb. A girl just isn't strong enough, Okay.
- 20:48Speaker 1: So when he said that, I was just like, what
- 20:50Speaker 1: the fuck? What do you mean pull it with your thumb?
- 20:53Speaker 1: And then I remember that if you are turning the
- 20:55Speaker 1: gun towards yourself, you would have to pull the trigger
- 20:57Speaker 1: with your thumb, So yay, I guess. Lane flips the
- 21:02Speaker 1: gun around like at her face to just kind of
- 21:06Speaker 1: look at it like blankly. We see the point of
- 21:09Speaker 1: the laser sight like hitting her forehead, and the guy says,
- 21:13Speaker 1: what you still want to stay in the real world.
- 21:16Speaker 1: You get like a really weird close shot, kind of
- 21:19Speaker 1: fish eye shot of him, and he just looks like
- 21:21Speaker 1: really not nice. He continues, Hey, now that's not fair.
- 21:26Speaker 1: You're the one who called me here. Remember we cut
- 21:29Speaker 1: to a close up of Lane. The laser light is
- 21:31Speaker 1: kind of moving across her face. I'm gonna just assume
- 21:34Speaker 1: that her hand is shaking and that's what's happening, because
- 21:37Speaker 1: otherwise it doesn't make sense that it's moving. And Lane says,
- 21:41Speaker 1: but I never called you guys, like bodies are totally meaningless.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Lane says, you're wrong. We hear a woman say Lane.
- 21:52Speaker 1: Lane's like, huh. She looks up and then gasps. The
- 21:57Speaker 1: entire scene has changed, and now she's just in this
- 22:00Speaker 1: low area between like really high mounds of dirt or
- 22:04Speaker 1: rock on either side of her. I don't know what
- 22:07Speaker 1: that is, if it's rocks or dirt or something, but
- 22:09Speaker 1: it's just kind of like a weird area. It looks
- 22:11Speaker 1: really desolate, and there are these large, I don't know,
- 22:16Speaker 1: towers or something looming in the distance. They kind of
- 22:19Speaker 1: look like chess pieces to me, but I don't think
- 22:21Speaker 1: that's what it's supposed to be. And then, of course
- 22:23Speaker 1: we have telephone poles and wires sparking with electricity and
- 22:27Speaker 1: just kind of like orbs of light drifting through the air.
- 22:31Speaker 1: It looks kind of like post apocalyptic. Honestly, Lane's like,
- 22:36Speaker 1: what is this? I don't know. We cut to an
- 22:39Speaker 1: apartment building that's in silhouette, with the exception of some
- 22:43Speaker 1: of the windows, which are lit up night. Of course,
- 22:47Speaker 1: we focus in on a glowing bay window and we
- 22:50Speaker 1: hear Judy say, think it over. I thought maybe we
- 22:53Speaker 1: could mean after school and I could introduce the two
- 22:55Speaker 1: of you. We see Judy with her hair down, hugging
- 22:59Speaker 1: a pillow. It looks like she's on a screen. She continues,
- 23:02Speaker 1: I promise you won't be sorry. This guy's pretty cute.
- 23:06Speaker 1: She kind of looks away and scratches her nose. There's
- 23:08Speaker 1: all these rumors going around about you and that teacher.
- 23:11Speaker 1: We see Alice now, who does not look like she's
- 23:13Speaker 1: on a screen. So I'm guessing this is like a
- 23:15Speaker 1: video call or something, and Judy continues, I think if
- 23:18Speaker 1: you get a boyfriend, everyone will finally know that they're
- 23:20Speaker 1: not true. We see now that Alice is sitting on
- 23:23Speaker 1: the floor like at a small table with a computer
- 23:27Speaker 1: on it that's like white and teal It looks kind
- 23:28Speaker 1: of like a Mac. It's kind of the first computer
- 23:30Speaker 1: I've seen it in a while in this show that
- 23:32Speaker 1: just looked like maybe it's a computer. Judy continues, do
- 23:35Speaker 1: you get what I mean? See you tomorrow. We'll talk
- 23:37Speaker 1: about it then bye. Alice leans back against her bed.
- 23:43Speaker 1: She looks real worried, and she sighs and she thinks
- 23:46Speaker 1: it's not a lie. We hear the door open. Alice
- 23:50Speaker 1: looks up and gasps. Her eyes are super wide and
- 23:53Speaker 1: there is someone standing outside of her door. The door
- 23:56Speaker 1: is partially open. The person's kind of clinging to the
- 23:58Speaker 1: back of the door, the short, dark hair, and they're
- 24:01Speaker 1: wearing what I thought was a black shirt, but it's not.
- 24:03Speaker 1: It's a shirt with red and green sleeves, like that
- 24:06Speaker 1: Alien did a couple episodes ago, or maybe last episode,
- 24:10Speaker 1: I can't remember. Alice is like, who's there? We now
- 24:15Speaker 1: see the person's foot. It's just kind of this nondescript
- 24:19Speaker 1: gray thing. It doesn't have pants or toes or really
- 24:23Speaker 1: any definition. And an arm kind of leans in a
- 24:26Speaker 1: little and the hand looks very alien. It's gray, it's
- 24:30Speaker 1: abnormally large, and Alice is like, who's there. We can
- 24:35Speaker 1: now see half of the face leaning around the door,
- 24:38Speaker 1: and it's Lane. She leans in further so we get
- 24:42Speaker 1: a really good look at her. Alice gasps. They just
- 24:46Speaker 1: kind of stare at each other, and Alice is like, Lane, Lane,
- 24:50Speaker 1: who is basically Lane's head on a little alien body
- 24:55Speaker 1: sort of kind of just kind of stands there, and
- 25:00Speaker 1: Alice is like, what happened to you? Heira? Lane cuts
- 25:05Speaker 1: her off and says it wasn't me, believe me. Alice
- 25:10Speaker 1: is like, what Lane says, you've got up. Believe me, Alice,
- 25:14Speaker 1: I never peaked at your secrets. I'd never do something
- 25:17Speaker 1: like that, And it wasn't me who put those secrets
- 25:19Speaker 1: on the wire. Alice stands up or sits on her bed.
- 25:22Speaker 1: I'm not sure, Lane continues, I had nothing to do
- 25:25Speaker 1: with it, I swear. Alice kind of gulps and says,
- 25:30Speaker 1: I don't know how you can stand there and lie
- 25:32Speaker 1: to me like that it was you. I saw you.
- 25:36Speaker 1: Lane's like, the person you saw isn't me. It looks
- 25:40Speaker 1: like I'm not the only me out there. I guess
- 25:43Speaker 1: some other me must have done it. Alice looks kind
- 25:47Speaker 1: of freaked out. Yeah, rightfully so, and is like, what
- 25:50Speaker 1: are you trying to say? Lane says you might not
- 25:53Speaker 1: be the only Alice out there either. What Alice gasps.
- 25:58Speaker 1: Lane's like, anyway, no matter how often I say I
- 26:02Speaker 1: didn't do it, you're still going to believe I did.
- 26:04Speaker 1: So instead, I'll make it so it never really happened.
- 26:08Speaker 1: I've been working practically day and night to be able
- 26:11Speaker 1: to do just that. Seriously, that's what you've been doing.
- 26:15Speaker 1: What the fuck? Alice, who is now sitting on her bed, says,
- 26:18Speaker 1: what are you talking about Lane's like, I don't need
- 26:22Speaker 1: any devices anymore. It looks like I've already destroyed the
- 26:24Speaker 1: border between the real world and the wired. What I
- 26:27Speaker 1: mean is I can go absolutely anywhere I want to now.
- 26:30Speaker 1: So I came right over here, you see. I wanted
- 26:33Speaker 1: you to know I can do some things that never
- 26:35Speaker 1: should have happened, Alice says Laane. Laane kind of inches
- 26:41Speaker 1: back behind the door slightly, and we cut to Alice,
- 26:44Speaker 1: who looks like she's gonna cry, and then back to
- 26:46Speaker 1: the door and Lane's gone. Alice just kind of slumps
- 26:50Speaker 1: over and sobs. We watch his tears fall onto her
- 26:54Speaker 1: legs and hands. She says, I'm scared, Please help me
- 27:00Speaker 1: scared and continues to cry as we fade out fuck.
- 27:06Speaker 1: We cut to white really quickly, and then wires fade
- 27:09Speaker 1: in over the white. Alice is walking with her eyes closed.
- 27:13Speaker 1: She's just bathed in bright light around her, and then
- 27:16Speaker 1: we see the silhouettes of Judy and Raga like move
- 27:19Speaker 1: into frame and Raka says Alice and Judy's like, good morning, Alice.
- 27:24Speaker 1: We see a close up of Alice looking really upset,
- 27:27Speaker 1: and then we see that they're just like right outside
- 27:28Speaker 1: of the school, and Alice says, ugh, good morning. Rake
- 27:33Speaker 1: is like, what's up, Alice. They all start to walk,
- 27:37Speaker 1: but then they stop walking, and Judy says, you seem
- 27:40Speaker 1: so depressed. Is it that time of the month. Rake
- 27:43Speaker 1: is like, hey, ever hear tacked. Judy's like, just kidding.
- 27:48Speaker 1: I have no idea if that's really what they said.
- 27:50Speaker 1: That was weird anyway, Alice says Judy, I don't think
- 27:55Speaker 1: I can go through with it today. Is that okay?
- 27:58Speaker 1: Judy's like, huh go through with what? Alice says, didn't
- 28:03Speaker 1: you send me a c email yesterday? Judy's like, huh no.
- 28:09Speaker 1: Raga says, you're really acting strange today. Alice looks to
- 28:13Speaker 1: the side and she sees that teacher talking to the
- 28:17Speaker 1: dude at like that little guard booth station. He's like
- 28:20Speaker 1: outside of his car, like standing next to it, you know,
- 28:22Speaker 1: talking to the guy like I just said. And Raca's like, hey, Alice.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Judy says, hmmm, oh that teacher, he sure is hot.
- 28:31Speaker 1: Rake is like right, but the rumor is he's dating
- 28:34Speaker 1: an eighth grader. What I still haven't figured out who
- 28:37Speaker 1: it is though. Excuse me what? Judy's like, really, that's
- 28:42Speaker 1: gross it is, Judy, he's an adult and eighth graders
- 28:46Speaker 1: are like thirteen or something. Alice gasps and is like, uh, listen.
- 28:52Speaker 1: Judy and Rake a turn and both say hmm, what
- 28:54Speaker 1: is it. At the same time, Alice continues about that
- 28:57Speaker 1: teacher and me there's something. They're both like huh, and
- 29:01Speaker 1: Raka says, what do you mean? Is there something going
- 29:04Speaker 1: on between the two of you. Judy's like, you're not
- 29:08Speaker 1: about to say you like him or something. Mega says, sorry, Alice,
- 29:12Speaker 1: I think you're too late. Jerry's like, yeah, like we said,
- 29:15Speaker 1: he's already got a girlfriend in eighth grade, guys. Alice
- 29:21Speaker 1: looks down. I'm sure she's confused, but I am more
- 29:25Speaker 1: confused about this eighth grade thing. Raga says, that's not
- 29:29Speaker 1: like you, Alice. Jerdy's like, for real, she's acting so
- 29:32Speaker 1: strange today. Alice's eyes widened, like she just finally got
- 29:37Speaker 1: what's happening, and she turns around, and Judy and Rayka
- 29:42Speaker 1: just kind of fade out, and we cut to Alice's
- 29:45Speaker 1: hands holding her bag and like shaking, and then to
- 29:48Speaker 1: her knees which are also shaking, and then to Alice
- 29:51Speaker 1: staring there's not a lot of animation in the scene,
- 29:54Speaker 1: just parts of bodies. We finally see what Alice is
- 29:57Speaker 1: staring at Laane is just kind of standing there a
- 30:00Speaker 1: little bit of way in the whites with her long
- 30:03Speaker 1: blotchy red shadow. Alice just kind of stares at her,
- 30:06Speaker 1: and then suddenly the background in Judy and Raka like
- 30:09Speaker 1: pop back in and Judy's like, oh, good morning, Lane,
- 30:12Speaker 1: and she waves, and Raka says, hurry up, will you.
- 30:16Speaker 1: Jerry's like, come on, come on join us, Lane, Vega
- 30:18Speaker 1: says Lane. Alice turns and looks at Lane again, and
- 30:23Speaker 1: Lane is kind of blurrier than usual, like she's got
- 30:25Speaker 1: one of those soft filters on her that I think
- 30:28Speaker 1: they used to do, like back in earlier live action TV.
- 30:32Speaker 1: You know, when you want to make a like a
- 30:34Speaker 1: woman look like she doesn't have like wrinkles or blemishes,
- 30:37Speaker 1: so you use that kind of like soft filter. I
- 30:39Speaker 1: don't know how to describe it. I hope you know
- 30:41Speaker 1: what I mean. Anyway, Alice, who looks very clearly freaked out,
- 30:45Speaker 1: thinks Lane you and then Lane smiles in a way
- 30:49Speaker 1: that I'm sure was supposed to look genuine, but really
- 30:54Speaker 1: freaked me out because her face just looks kind of contorted,
- 30:58Speaker 1: and Alice thinks, Lane, you smiled what to be continued
- 31:05Speaker 1: and then me go to the ending theme and that's
- 31:07Speaker 1: its yay, okay, closing thoughts. I don't even know what
- 31:13Speaker 1: any of that was. So we have a lot of
- 31:15Speaker 1: stuff that you know, wasn't that important, like just tons
- 31:17Speaker 1: and tons of recap. But the stuff that we did
- 31:21Speaker 1: get was super weird. So what the fuck? What is happening?
- 31:26Speaker 1: This invalidates like a lot of episodes, right because I
- 31:30Speaker 1: thought that Lane fixed this already. There was a whole
- 31:33Speaker 1: thing and I talked about it at the end of
- 31:34Speaker 1: the episode where she goes to school and nobody remembers
- 31:38Speaker 1: but then like they like want to be your friends still,
- 31:40Speaker 1: but she's like not really her and she feels like
- 31:43Speaker 1: she's just watching herself and this whole thing, and I
- 31:45Speaker 1: like over analyzed the shit out of it. Did none
- 31:49Speaker 1: of that happen? Was that just in her head? Was
- 31:51Speaker 1: that a scenario she was running through in the wired Like,
- 31:56Speaker 1: I think this is really interesting, but I feel like
- 32:00Speaker 1: for me, I mean, I'm not even sure what's happening,
- 32:02Speaker 1: but I feel like a definite flaw is that if
- 32:06Speaker 1: this is the real whatever's happening now. I would have
- 32:09Speaker 1: liked to see Lane trying more to, you know, fix
- 32:13Speaker 1: what happened with Alice. I would have liked to see
- 32:15Speaker 1: that as a bigger through plot line because I think
- 32:18Speaker 1: that that's interesting and it's just weird that we went
- 32:21Speaker 1: from like this thing happened, I thought we fixed it,
- 32:23Speaker 1: and then a few episodes later it's like I've been
- 32:25Speaker 1: trying to fix it all this time. It's like I
- 32:27Speaker 1: didn't know that Lane. How would I have known that?
- 32:31Speaker 1: But I have so many questions, like what is the timeline,
- 32:37Speaker 1: because like so assuming that that whole thing with her
- 32:42Speaker 1: fixing things in the past a couple of episodes ago
- 32:45Speaker 1: never happened, and I was all, just I don't know,
- 32:48Speaker 1: like how much of anything that's happening is happening outside
- 32:51Speaker 1: of the wired Like I think that the stuff with
- 32:53Speaker 1: Alice is real, because in these moments where we were
- 32:57Speaker 1: focusing on Alice, I felt like Lane was a side character.
- 33:01Speaker 1: I felt like I was seeing things that were specific
- 33:04Speaker 1: to Alice's point of view, So I don't think that
- 33:07Speaker 1: they're like in Lane's head. But I wonder how much
- 33:10Speaker 1: of the rest of it is. I wonder if, like
- 33:14Speaker 1: any of this is real? I mean, I think the
- 33:18Speaker 1: her going into the Internet and putting wires all over
- 33:20Speaker 1: herself is probably real. She's probably like alone in her
- 33:24Speaker 1: house on her floor, like hopefully not dying. I don't
- 33:27Speaker 1: know if she's eating or drinking, but like any of
- 33:30Speaker 1: the times we see her outside or interacting with people, like,
- 33:33Speaker 1: I'm not sure any of this is real? Is Siberia real? Like?
- 33:40Speaker 1: Is like what is real? I'm sure the thing that
- 33:44Speaker 1: happened with the dude who killed himself and she's wasn't real.
- 33:48Speaker 1: And it just keeps like jumping all over the place.
- 33:50Speaker 1: So I just don't know. And I'm also it's like,
- 33:53Speaker 1: maybe this isn't a linear timeline, Like maybe some of
- 33:56Speaker 1: the stuff we're seeing happened earlier than we think it'd
- 34:00Speaker 1: Maybe this thing that went on just now with Alice
- 34:03Speaker 1: happened several episodes ago. I don't know. I really don't know.
- 34:08Speaker 1: All I know is Lane is inserting herself into the
- 34:11Speaker 1: wired and potentially changing things. But I'm not even really
- 34:14Speaker 1: sure now if she is or if this is all
- 34:17Speaker 1: in her mind sort of, but I don't know. I
- 34:25Speaker 1: felt like I was getting somewhere like with understanding the
- 34:29Speaker 1: message or the goal of things, And this episode just
- 34:32Speaker 1: made me go, like, what what do you mean the
- 34:36Speaker 1: alien thing? I'm not sure about that. I mean, it's
- 34:39Speaker 1: obviously just the way Lane could present herself, her wired
- 34:43Speaker 1: self to Alice in the real world. But then it's like,
- 34:48Speaker 1: why didn't she just go to Alice's house in the
- 34:51Speaker 1: real world and tell her because it's not like they
- 34:56Speaker 1: have forgotten that Lane exists or something. I mean, Alice
- 34:59Speaker 1: knew immediately who Lane was and what she may or
- 35:03Speaker 1: may not have done, So why is she relying on
- 35:06Speaker 1: the wired for things like that? I mean, it's also possible,
- 35:09Speaker 1: like I was just saying, she's so weak that like
- 35:11Speaker 1: she's just using the wired because she can't fucking walk anymore.
- 35:15Speaker 1: But yeah, this is a mess. Besides just the normal
- 35:18Speaker 1: like Plotliny things that are happening that I don't understand.
- 35:22Speaker 1: I think that Lane's desire to hold on to who
- 35:24Speaker 1: she is is really cool. I really like that she's
- 35:29Speaker 1: refusing to be an object. I like that a lot. Again,
- 35:34Speaker 1: I'm not sure that that means that she isn't one,
- 35:36Speaker 1: but I like that she refuses to be treated as
- 35:38Speaker 1: a thing. That's honestly makes me just like love her
- 35:43Speaker 1: as a character, even though I'm not really sure what's
- 35:46Speaker 1: going on with her or ever. But yeah, I don't
- 35:49Speaker 1: know where we're even heading right now. Was the alien
- 35:54Speaker 1: in the doorway that one time? Last episode of the
- 35:57Speaker 1: episode before was that Lane was Lane? What is what's happening?
- 36:02Speaker 1: I don't know? But yeah, as I just said, I now,
- 36:05Speaker 1: I'm just kind of like, I don't know, guys, I
- 36:08Speaker 1: don't know where this is going. I don't know why
- 36:11Speaker 1: the timeline changed, because it seems like it just changed.
- 36:14Speaker 1: It seems like it keeps changing unless a lot of
- 36:17Speaker 1: this is laying trying to fix things and failing and
- 36:20Speaker 1: then resetting. But I don't know. We haven't established that
- 36:24Speaker 1: this is time travel or anything, so I don't know. Yeah,
- 36:30Speaker 1: I don't know, Like, did you guys get anything out
- 36:33Speaker 1: of that? Did you get anything out of what I
- 36:35Speaker 1: just said, because I don't know if I did, so
- 36:40Speaker 1: I hope that you did, because that's really all I
- 36:42Speaker 1: have today. There wasn't that much content, so we have
- 36:46Speaker 1: like two more episodes to figure out what the fuck
- 36:48Speaker 1: is going on. And I feel like by the end
- 36:52Speaker 1: I understood last time, But what if I don't this time?
- 36:56Speaker 1: What if you also don't or what if you understand?
- 36:59Speaker 1: But I understand, and then I feel stupid. I guess
- 37:03Speaker 1: we're gonna see but yeah, I mean that's honestly, that's
- 37:09Speaker 1: really all I got. So I still don't know what
- 37:12Speaker 1: I'm doing after this. I still don't know if I'm
- 37:13Speaker 1: taking a break after this. I still don't know anything,
- 37:17Speaker 1: but I'm gonna go and try to figure out everything,
- 37:20Speaker 1: including what happened in this episode, which I was trying
- 37:23Speaker 1: to do yesterday too, and I didn't really get anywhere.
- 37:27Speaker 1: So I hope you have a really good whatever, and
- 37:32Speaker 1: you know I will gonna see you next week if
- 37:34Speaker 1: you come back, because I get if you don't, because
- 37:38Speaker 1: you were just like, wow, she doesn't understand Lane, I
- 37:41Speaker 1: get it. I have failed you. But anyway, yeah later
- 37:46Speaker 1: weeps
