- 0:07Speaker 1: I'm back in New York, outside New York City Hall,
- 0:09Speaker 1: just here for a second, but enough time to do
- 0:11Speaker 1: this week's installment of Prediction Markets at the Green Market
- 0:14Speaker 1: at City Hall Park.
- 0:15Speaker 2: What are you doing down at the Green Market at
- 0:16Speaker 2: City Hall?
- 0:17Speaker 3: Just was put on a jury.
- 0:20Speaker 2: So you're on jury duty today?
- 0:21Speaker 3: I was just impaneled today.
- 0:24Speaker 1: I can't ask you about it because then they're going
- 0:25Speaker 1: to kick you off the jury. What are you doing
- 0:27Speaker 1: down by City Hall today?
- 0:28Speaker 4: I'm on my way home. I'm a teacher and I'm
- 0:30Speaker 4: just commuting.
- 0:31Speaker 5: Oh, amazing.
- 0:32Speaker 2: What's your name?
- 0:32Speaker 6: Danny.
- 0:33Speaker 2: First of all, what do you teach?
- 0:34Speaker 7: Yeah, so I teach kindergarten through eighth grade physical education.
- 0:37Speaker 4: In New York City.
- 0:38Speaker 8: We're film majors.
- 0:39Speaker 2: No way.
- 0:40Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 0:40Speaker 4: Okay, cool.
- 0:41Speaker 2: How do you like our crew? Does it look all right?
- 0:42Speaker 4: Yeah, it looks good. Perfect.
- 0:44Speaker 2: The best of the best right here. MS Now's finest.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Donald Trump was rejected at the Supreme Court this week
- 0:50Speaker 1: in his effort to restrict mail-in voting in the country.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Do you predict that he will try to stop people
- 0:54Speaker 1: from voting in other ways?
- 0:56Speaker 9: I'm sure he will. I don't put anything past that man.
- 0:59Speaker 8: Honestly, knowing what he's done, I feel like it's kind
- 1:03Speaker 8: of unpredictable because every day I'm just... I don't like
- 1:07Speaker 8: to keep up with what Donald Trump's doing because it
- 1:09Speaker 8: just infuriates me and it's always something else, another stupid
- 1:12Speaker 8: thing he's doing. I don't know what he's going to
- 1:15Speaker 8: do next.
- 1:16Speaker 4: I don't think he's going to stop at anything to
- 1:18Speaker 4: get what he wants.
- 1:19Speaker 2: What makes you feel that way about him?
- 1:21Speaker 4: I think, you know, that's just what we've seen.
- 1:23Speaker 7: That's just what his track record shows, that if he
- 1:26Speaker 7: really wants... something in place. He's going to find a
- 1:30Speaker 7: way to do it. He's going to find a loophole.
- 1:31Speaker 7: He's going to say whatever he needs to say to
- 1:33Speaker 7: make it happen.
- 1:34Speaker 10: At this point, the worst part is that there are
- 1:37Speaker 10: Americans who have lost faith in the system.
- 1:40Speaker 2: The integrity of the system, exactly. The integrity of the system.
- 1:43Speaker 10: The problem is, is that we don't believe in the system.
- 1:45Speaker 10: We don't believe in our government. I think that creating
- 1:49Speaker 10: confusion around the way that you vote, how votes are counted,
- 1:54Speaker 10: if they're legal, if they're not, if it's accurate, if
- 1:57Speaker 10: it's not, if there's fraud, if there's not. Even just
- 2:00Speaker 10: injecting that kind of grayness into the conversation, I think,
- 2:05Speaker 10: causes a lot of problems.
- 2:06Speaker 1: Dude, I'm going to pack it up. I'm going to
- 2:09Speaker 1: go home. This is ding, ding, ding, ding.
- 2:11Speaker 2: Maggie got it all right.
- 2:12Speaker 10: I have to thank my parents.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Thank you for making me good. They taught you well.
- 2:15Speaker 10: They have made me a very good citizen.
- 2:18Speaker 2: You want to be on my show? So you're buying canvas?
- 2:21Speaker 7: Mm-hmm.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Pre-stretched?
- 2:23Speaker 8: Yes.
- 2:23Speaker 2: What else is in the bag? Smaller canvas. Wait, so wait,
- 2:29Speaker 2: how old are you guys? I'm 19.
- 2:31Speaker 8: 19?
- 2:31Speaker 1: 19. No way, so this is going to be your
- 2:33Speaker 1: first election as a voter in the United States. What's
- 2:35Speaker 1: your prediction about the, or how about just for you all,
- 2:38Speaker 1: what do you predict will be the number one thing
- 2:40Speaker 1: that brings you to the polls?
- 2:41Speaker 2: Why do you want to go vote for the first
- 2:42Speaker 2: time this year?
- 2:43Speaker 6: Because I feel like we need to get him out
- 2:45Speaker 6: of office.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Midterm elections are coming fast and furious. What is your
- 2:48Speaker 1: prediction on the number one issue that's going to get
- 2:49Speaker 1: people out to vote?
- 2:51Speaker 4: It's the economy, stupid.
- 2:54Speaker 3: I think the common wisdom is its affordability. I think
- 2:58Speaker 3: AI might start getting into people's consciousness.
- 3:00Speaker 4: It might be immigration. I think some people or a
- 3:03Speaker 4: lot of people in the U.S.
- 3:04Speaker 7: Are not really happy with how things are being handled immigration-wise.
- 3:10Speaker 4: And I think there's a way to do certain things and.
- 3:13Speaker 7: Um, I don't think people like the way he's doing
- 3:16Speaker 7: it as a Hispanic American as well. I think, uh,
- 3:20Speaker 7: I think there are a lot of Latinos that voted
- 3:23Speaker 7: for Trump that are not really okay with the way things.
- 3:26Speaker 4: Are being handled right now.
- 3:28Speaker 2: And you feel like, can people get a fair shot today?
- 3:30Speaker 9: I don't feel that our world is very fair in
- 3:34Speaker 9: general at the moment, but maybe that's just me coming
- 3:37Speaker 9: into adulthood. Um, When I was a kid, it all
- 3:40Speaker 9: seemed fair. As an adult, it seems like it's a
- 3:44Speaker 9: very capitalistic society.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Rich are getting richer, poor are getting poorer.
- 3:49Speaker 9: Yes, I 100% agree with that.
- 3:53Speaker 2: How do we find your art?
- 3:54Speaker 4: It's Cameron Jacobs Art on Instagram.
- 3:57Speaker 5: Please follow.
- 3:58Speaker 2: This will be on Instagram too. Okay, great.
- 4:00Speaker 4: I'm from New York.
- 4:01Speaker 6: If you want a painting, just DM me and I'll
- 4:03Speaker 6: make you a painting.
- 4:04Speaker 2: Cameron Jacobs Art. We've got to get a connect with
- 4:05Speaker 2: Jacob painting. I would like a painting.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Did you see the whistleblower who came out and said
- 4:12Speaker 1: from Anthropic that potentially we could be facing an.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Extinction-level event?
- 4:18Speaker 1: Do you predict that AI could lead to an extinction-level
- 4:21Speaker 1: event in our world?
- 4:22Speaker 3: I can tell you that something just happened to me today.
- 4:25Speaker 5: What?
- 4:27Speaker 3: I am a voiceover actor with a company that does audiobooks.
- 4:31Speaker 2: I thought I recognized your voice.
- 4:32Speaker 3: No, you didn't.
- 4:33Speaker 2: I'm not kidding.
- 4:34Speaker 3: You don't. I haven't done enough that you would recognize it.
- 4:37Speaker 3: but we just got a notice today that the company
- 4:41Speaker 3: is going out of business because AI is now covering audiobooks,
- 4:44Speaker 3: including the multicast format that we use.
- 4:46Speaker 2: That's awful.
- 4:47Speaker 1: So not only is that an economic issue for you,
- 4:49Speaker 1: not only is that an AI issue, creative, but also
- 4:52Speaker 1: potentially hit you in the pocketbook one day.
- 4:54Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 4:55Speaker 3: No, it hit me in the pocketbook already. They owe
- 4:56Speaker 3: me money that they're not able to pay me at
- 4:58Speaker 3: the moment.
- 4:58Speaker 2: Are you worried about AI and what it might portend?
- 5:01Speaker 7: I think it's really interesting. I don't think it's going
- 5:04Speaker 7: to It's going to, I guess, kill us all or anything.
- 5:10Speaker 1: It's because you touch grass all day as a physical
- 5:12Speaker 1: ed instructor and you're not in the matrix.
- 5:15Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah. I guess as a phys ed teacher, I
- 5:17Speaker 4: feel like I'm safe.
- 5:18Speaker 7: I am not okay with organizations and companies kind of
- 5:25Speaker 7: handing those jobs off to AI. I do think there's
- 5:27Speaker 7: something we can do about that. But I don't think
- 5:31Speaker 7: we are doomed because of AI.
- 5:34Speaker 5: I'm an advocate for AI.
- 5:35Speaker 1: I think.
- 5:37Speaker 5: put it like this we have bad people they are
- 5:41Speaker 5: going to use ai for the wrong things it's it
- 5:44Speaker 5: just comes with the territory i think it's.
- 5:46Speaker 8: Going to cause some type of chaos i don't know
- 5:49Speaker 8: what but people are going to start to go crazy
- 5:51Speaker 8: people are losing their jobs people are relying on ai
- 5:54Speaker 8: like the knowledge that one person contains is going down
- 5:58Speaker 8: every day are.
- 5:59Speaker 2: You scared do you feel scared I try not to
- 6:01Speaker 2: think about it.
- 6:02Speaker 6: I think, again, I can't predict what's going to happen,
- 6:05Speaker 6: what my life will be like in terms of AI
- 6:07Speaker 6: in the future. And I will not make the fake
- 6:11Speaker 6: scenarios in my head and try to predict it.
- 6:13Speaker 2: I think I'll just live day by.
- 6:14Speaker 4: Day, see what happens.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Living day by day.
- 6:16Speaker 1: I wish I was Gen Z and living day by
- 6:18Speaker 1: day and seeing what happens.
- 6:19Speaker 2: I feel like it's like a good headspace to be in. Hey,
- 6:21Speaker 2: can I tell you about my show? We got this.
- 6:22Speaker 4: Come on, please.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Last one, Terrence. Yankees in the playoffs. They're going to
- 6:25Speaker 2: win the World Series. Your prediction?
- 6:27Speaker 8: No.
- 6:29Speaker 5: Not for probably another five years.
- 6:31Speaker 9: My family is a Yankees fan. So based on my
- 6:36Speaker 9: beliefs and loyalty, I will have to say yes.
- 6:38Speaker 4: I'm a Mets fan.
- 6:39Speaker 2: Last question. Prediction.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Yankees are in the playoffs. Will they win the World Series?
- 6:43Speaker 1: Your prediction? You seem very confident.
- 6:47Speaker 3: They're due, right?
- 6:48Speaker 2: Not if my Dodgers have anything to do with it.
- 6:51Speaker 11: Hey, it's me, Rachel Maddow. If you liked the story
