Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to a lily Pad production.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Hello, and welcome to Pandemonium, the pop culture game show
- 0:25Speaker 2: that shines a spotlight onto everyone's favorite fandoms. I'm your
- 0:29Speaker 2: games master and purple Titan who is this close to
- 0:32Speaker 2: completing his little geology project, Matt Watson.
- 0:38Speaker 3: Thank you so much.
- 0:38Speaker 2: But a games master needs games, and games need players,
- 0:41Speaker 2: so please welcome first. She is our evergreen panelist, a
- 0:45Speaker 2: podcaster and comedian who works in stem, which means she's
- 0:48Speaker 2: capable of creating mutants in a lab. Let's hope she's
- 0:51Speaker 2: on our side. It's Audre Stephenson, and I'm not. And
- 1:00Speaker 2: he is an improviser, a game designer, a tune titan,
- 1:04Speaker 2: and the creator of Team Up, a brand new superhero TTRPG.
- 1:08Speaker 2: So he can also create superheroes, but so can you.
- 1:11Speaker 2: By playing Team Up, he's sharing his powers.
- 1:14Speaker 3: It's Johnny Wilson. What's up? Gamers?
- 1:23Speaker 2: Welcome, Audra, Welcome Johnny. How are you both doing so good?
- 1:27Speaker 1: I'm feeling great.
- 1:28Speaker 4: I've had I chugged one of these cocktails before refilling it.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Yes, so I'm having a great time.
- 1:36Speaker 3: And I've had half a white club. Yeah yeah, yeah,
- 1:45Speaker 3: all right, guys, well, this is our Marvel episode. Are
- 1:47Speaker 3: there any fans of Marvel in the house? Give me
- 1:49Speaker 3: a cheer?
- 1:53Speaker 2: Is there anyone who's kind of like, I'm kind of
- 1:56Speaker 2: sick of the superhero stuff? You're very valid, But with that, Johnny,
- 2:02Speaker 2: are you a Marvel fan? Yeah, I'm a huge Marvel fan,
- 2:06Speaker 2: massive Marvel head.
- 2:07Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:07Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I hate I don't want to say that
- 2:10Speaker 5: because this is a game show where I'm supposed to
- 2:12Speaker 5: know a lot about it. Sure, but Marvel is so
- 2:14Speaker 5: vast that I'm sure there's gonna be things I don't know.
- 2:17Speaker 1: So I'm sorry everyone.
- 2:20Speaker 3: Yeah, everyone's gonna be so disappointed if you don't know things.
- 2:23Speaker 1: But I'm a big fan.
- 2:24Speaker 3: Nice, like just the films or the comics as well.
- 2:26Speaker 5: Yeah, I've been reading Marvel comics since I was probably
- 2:29Speaker 5: twelve ish thirteen. My friend Ben would sneak them into
- 2:34Speaker 5: my backpack and I would sneak them home, and I
- 2:37Speaker 5: would sometimes catch my mom trying to like flip through
- 2:41Speaker 5: them at night to see if I.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Should be reading them or not.
- 2:44Speaker 3: Sure and I should not have been in her estimation.
- 2:48Speaker 2: Sure, Okay, that sounds very familiar to a regular panelist.
- 2:52Speaker 2: Audray use a lot of media restrictions in your household.
- 2:55Speaker 2: Growing up as well, was Marvel restricted. All you will
- 2:57Speaker 2: find a Marvel.
- 2:58Speaker 4: I didn't know that comics existed, the amount of restriction
- 3:03Speaker 4: in my household. I did one time bring Twilight in
- 3:06Speaker 4: with the Chronicles of Narnia cover dust jacket over it
- 3:10Speaker 4: because people were reading it. But I feel like if
- 3:13Speaker 4: I would have had access to the concept of superheroes
- 3:17Speaker 4: in my youth, I would have been into it.
- 3:20Speaker 1: But alas that did not happen.
- 3:23Speaker 3: That did not happen.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, so we got kind of a balanced team.
- 3:27Speaker 2: He has some knowledge coming from Johnny and some gumption.
- 3:34Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm very nervous about not knowing much or knowing
- 3:40Speaker 5: a lot, and she's very passionate about not knowing much.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Yes, I can help you learn how to come to
- 3:46Speaker 1: terms with the fact that you don't know shit. I
- 3:49Speaker 1: could help you with that.
- 3:51Speaker 3: Fantastic.
- 3:52Speaker 2: I think you'll make a great team, but uh, you
- 3:54Speaker 2: will need some opponents, some villains to fight against, maybe
- 3:58Speaker 2: older villains.
- 3:58Speaker 3: We don't know. We'll find out.
- 3:59Speaker 2: We'll find out. So please welcome. He is a longtime
- 4:02Speaker 2: collaborator of this show. But we're saying farewell. As this
- 4:05Speaker 2: is his final appearance for the time being, at least
- 4:07Speaker 2: until we reboot the original franchise in three years time
- 4:10Speaker 2: or something. Please give it a for og Team captain
- 4:13Speaker 2: Jason winn.
- 4:22Speaker 5: And.
- 4:22Speaker 2: He is an improviser, writer, stick horse, and co owner
- 4:26Speaker 2: of the theater we're currently in. So now's your chance
- 4:28Speaker 2: to steal the toilet paper while I've got him distracted.
- 4:30Speaker 1: It's either gold mon wow, coming out of the gay.
- 4:46Speaker 2: Sorry, what's it? Keeper, I'll use that take. Welcome Jason,
- 4:53Speaker 2: Welcome Ethan. How are you both doing? Fantastic?
- 4:55Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 4:55Speaker 3: I'm also too many drinks in. I'm catching up nice
- 5:03Speaker 3: nice already.
- 5:04Speaker 2: Some stuff between Johnny and Ethan here, I think I
- 5:06Speaker 2: know what the real rivalry of the episode is going
- 5:08Speaker 2: to be.
- 5:09Speaker 5: Ethan and I both hate each other and have a
- 5:12Speaker 5: secret team.
- 5:14Speaker 3: Yeah. Do you want to talk about a secret team.
- 5:19Speaker 4: Starting round one?
- 5:22Speaker 3: Yeah, don't worry if it helps, it's incredibly stupid. I
- 5:27Speaker 3: don't know about all that. You're not supposed to tell
- 5:29Speaker 3: me about the secret team? Surely. So my name is
- 5:32Speaker 3: Johnny and Ethan? Can I share this on?
- 5:34Speaker 5: Ethan's real name is Benjamin, my first and so we're
- 5:38Speaker 5: Johnny and ben like the human Torchu and the thing
- 5:41Speaker 5: from the Fantastic Four. So this was my wife's idea.
- 5:47Speaker 3: I'm sorry I called it so.
- 5:49Speaker 5: No, no, no, her part, her part is relatively smart.
- 5:52Speaker 5: My part is stupid. Her idea was to cause the
- 5:55Speaker 5: Fantastic two. My idea was to call us the Fantastic two.
- 5:59Speaker 5: I think that's great, considering you're not on the same team.
- 6:06Speaker 6: Johnny texted me this, and we went back and forth
- 6:09Speaker 6: from like thirty minutes being like, what, we're not on
- 6:13Speaker 6: the same team's fantastic too?
- 6:16Speaker 3: Why? Hey, you want to be all right, I'm gonna
- 6:25Speaker 3: talk to an actual team here, Ethan. Are you a
- 6:28Speaker 3: fan of Marvel?
- 6:29Speaker 6: I'll be honest, I thought this episode was about the
- 6:31Speaker 6: marvelous Miss Maisel. No I did. I did grow up
- 6:38Speaker 6: reading old Marvel comics. Like my brother's ten years older
- 6:41Speaker 6: than me, so I inherited some old Marvel comics when
- 6:44Speaker 6: I was a kid, and then jumped on sort of
- 6:46Speaker 6: early two thousands into the movies. So I'm familiar with
- 6:50Speaker 6: MCU and weird old comics. But that's kind of about
- 6:54Speaker 6: it for me.
- 6:54Speaker 3: Okay, MCU and we had old comics.
- 6:56Speaker 7: I like it.
- 6:57Speaker 3: Well, what about you Jason.
- 6:58Speaker 7: If I lose this, I'm gonna have a mental breath. Don't. Yeah,
- 7:03Speaker 7: it's it's it's unfortunate and sad. You don't have to
- 7:05Speaker 7: call it away from retirement. Yeah damn it.
- 7:10Speaker 4: Now.
- 7:11Speaker 7: Yeah, I grew up like before I could read, I
- 7:13Speaker 7: was like looking at comics, uh and just looking at
- 7:15Speaker 7: the r I like had the book drawing comics, the
- 7:19Speaker 7: Marvel Way to study that, watch the movies, spend lots
- 7:23Speaker 7: of money at comic con to meet celebrities who don't
- 7:26Speaker 7: give a shit about me.
- 7:27Speaker 3: I'm so into this, so into this, fantastic, fantastic all right,
- 7:31Speaker 3: it seems like both hands that's going to be a
- 7:35Speaker 3: recurring bit. Now I'm not in control of that.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Just dig the knife in deep, all.
- 7:41Speaker 3: Right, good stuff.
- 7:42Speaker 2: We've got a couple of great teams here. But teams,
- 7:44Speaker 2: I've got some news for you. You've just been bitten
- 7:46Speaker 2: by a spider or shark, on nuclear bomb or whatever,
- 7:49Speaker 2: and you've woken up with strange and unique powers. But
- 7:52Speaker 2: before you can get a handle on them, your government
- 7:54Speaker 2: forces you into a team with another powerful person to
- 7:57Speaker 2: solve America's problems. Despite the fact that's that job, the
- 8:01Speaker 2: media is going to need something to call your heroic duo,
- 8:04Speaker 2: so I'd like.
- 8:05Speaker 3: Each pet to come up with a Marvel themed team name. Please,
- 8:08Speaker 3: let's start with Udra and Johnny.
- 8:09Speaker 4: What have you got now, dearest, Johnny sent me what
- 8:14Speaker 4: I can only describe as a novel prior.
- 8:17Speaker 5: To this, before you go, I love Marvel comics so deeply,
- 8:21Speaker 5: and I want you to know that as I was
- 8:23Speaker 5: writing these it pained me.
- 8:27Speaker 1: It took a bit of your soul write all of
- 8:29Speaker 1: these puns.
- 8:30Speaker 4: Absolutely, so I did receive what I will describe as
- 8:34Speaker 4: a novel, and some of this space is taken up
- 8:39Speaker 4: by the fact that he did provide what it was
- 8:41Speaker 4: a pun based on, which is very considerate.
- 8:44Speaker 1: So thank you, Thank you.
- 8:47Speaker 4: I'm going to forgive you for trying to form a
- 8:49Speaker 4: team with another team.
- 8:52Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 8:55Speaker 4: So I'm thinking we can like rattle through some of these.
- 8:58Speaker 4: We can see how people feel about them and like decide.
- 9:02Speaker 3: What the vibe is. Yeah, great, sounds great?
- 9:05Speaker 1: He yes, So I'm going to assume that people know
- 9:08Speaker 1: what the property is. Do we feel comfortable.
- 9:11Speaker 3: To explain for most of them? Yeah?
- 9:13Speaker 1: And if not, just assume it's wordplay. First off, we got.
- 9:18Speaker 8: Sex men, nice one and done.
- 9:26Speaker 5: So there's Hordra or Humpdra nice, yeah, okay.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Thunder Boobs or Thunderbones. That's a fun one.
- 9:36Speaker 5: Fantastic fuck or the Fantastic Foreskin.
- 9:43Speaker 1: Captain Audre and the jowls Falcon Jalcon? Is that is that? Jason?
- 9:49Speaker 1: Me and me and Jason.
- 9:50Speaker 5: No, don't worry about that one. There's Captain Audre and
- 9:57Speaker 5: Booby or Captain Audre and Fucky.
- 10:04Speaker 1: I do like that one. Gods of Asgard. That's good.
- 10:11Speaker 3: That's pretty good. That's just good.
- 10:15Speaker 5: There's the Eternal excuse me Eternards or the eat Turnards. Okay,
- 10:25Speaker 5: we're not even the best ones.
- 10:28Speaker 1: I'm skipping to Avenge Horse.
- 10:32Speaker 3: That's great. Uh yeah, let's see. Yeah poor skip to
- 10:37Speaker 3: the end director. Yeah yeah, what else? Instead of cloak
- 10:41Speaker 3: and dagger, we could be clitting dicker.
- 10:44Speaker 1: That's fun.
- 10:45Speaker 4: I like the idea of making that say that over
- 10:47Speaker 4: and over. No, okay, maybe it's for Jen's sake, so
- 10:54Speaker 4: maybe Avenge Horse? What what? How are you feeling? What's
- 10:58Speaker 4: your fantastic funk? Was fun?
- 11:00Speaker 3: First time? Is fun? Oh? I know?
- 11:03Speaker 5: Instead, my favorite one of this list was instead of
- 11:05Speaker 5: the Defenders, the Dickbenders.
- 11:09Speaker 1: You happy with that ultra Yeah, Jenn, are you happy
- 11:11Speaker 1: with that?
- 11:12Speaker 5: All right? So we've got the dick Benders. Yes, if
- 11:18Speaker 5: you want to know the other ones, see me after
- 11:19Speaker 5: the show.
- 11:22Speaker 2: But let's find out who the dick Benders will be
- 11:24Speaker 2: facing Ethan Jason.
- 11:26Speaker 3: I did. I didn't see his brough. Neither of us
- 11:29Speaker 3: thought about this at all.
- 11:30Speaker 4: Oh, yeah, over to you and you can.
- 11:34Speaker 3: I have a list. It's not a good list.
- 11:37Speaker 7: So I have the Pike Speak Avengers because there's a
- 11:40Speaker 7: couple of regional Avengers.
- 11:41Speaker 1: Seems aparently it's not horny enough.
- 11:45Speaker 7: The only problem I have I have America's ass Guardians.
- 11:50Speaker 7: That's two references to mc U. But I had my
- 11:54Speaker 7: my favorite was the Uphill ice Skaters because in the
- 11:57Speaker 7: movie Blade, my favorite line from that is, some motherfucker's
- 12:01Speaker 7: always trying to ice skate a pill. And I think
- 12:03Speaker 7: that's just iconic, and I use it in a daily basis,
- 12:06Speaker 7: daily follow up questions about some motherfuckers are just trying
- 12:12Speaker 7: to ice skate a pill.
- 12:13Speaker 1: We've been friends since probably twenty fifteen, and I've never
- 12:17Speaker 1: heard you say.
- 12:20Speaker 3: It's an inner monologue.
- 12:21Speaker 7: It's on a white it's on a yellow like box
- 12:23Speaker 7: that you don't get to see shout that represents my thoughts.
- 12:27Speaker 6: My only contribution to this. My suggestion would be Batman.
- 12:33Speaker 6: It's a dynamic duo. Yeah, yeah, that's wrong. Yeah, that's
- 12:36Speaker 6: tron thank you.
- 12:38Speaker 3: The prop that's not at all relates to the moment. Yeah,
- 12:40Speaker 3: just put Batman and Robin. Yeah, yeah, side which one wich?
- 12:46Speaker 3: I think we're going with Batman and.
- 12:48Speaker 6: Hell Yeah, it's horny in a way.
- 12:57Speaker 2: Yeah, we call the Dick Venders, yes, versus Batman and Robin.
- 13:02Speaker 3: All right, and just before we continue, I want to
- 13:05Speaker 3: hype up the mystery prize that our team will win.
- 13:09Speaker 3: What could it be? No expense has been spent. All right.
- 13:16Speaker 2: If you're listening to this and thinking Marvel's Batman, right,
- 13:19Speaker 2: stole my joke, don't worry his order with a little segment.
- 13:23Speaker 3: We like to call passing knowledge more.
- 13:25Speaker 1: Like assing knowledge?
- 13:26Speaker 6: Am I?
- 13:27Speaker 7: Right?
- 13:28Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 13:29Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I.
- 13:30Speaker 7: Guess we should have been Captain American fucking Barnes. What so?
- 13:38Speaker 4: Marvel is an American media company that makes comic books, films, animation,
- 13:43Speaker 4: video games, merch and an absolute shit ton of money.
- 13:47Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 13:48Speaker 4: Originally founded in nineteen thirty nine as Timely Productions, it
- 13:51Speaker 4: became Marvel Comics understan Lee in the nineteen sixties, and
- 13:55Speaker 4: I really connect to that because my grandma was also
- 13:59Speaker 4: frequently under stan Lee in the nineteen sixties.
- 14:04Speaker 3: Hey, she was an original dick Bender.
- 14:09Speaker 4: It's a family name, and if you make fun of it,
- 14:12Speaker 4: you're an asshole. Marvel Comics soon became known for stories
- 14:17Speaker 4: of superheroes who also had rich, everyday lives, you know,
- 14:22Speaker 4: and thus Marvel invented the work life balance. Marvel Studios
- 14:28Speaker 4: launched the Marvel Cinematic Universe in two thousand and eight
- 14:31Speaker 4: with iron Man, creating one of the most successful film
- 14:35Speaker 4: franchises of all time. Film franchises of all time, Thanks
- 14:39Speaker 4: for the clean Reid.
- 14:40Speaker 7: Thank you.
- 14:42Speaker 4: It also proved that I'd still want to punch a
- 14:44Speaker 4: billionaire in the face even if they were hot.
- 14:48Speaker 1: In two thousand and nine, Disney acquired Marvel.
- 14:51Speaker 4: Helping to fuel their goals of global domination, I mean
- 14:55Speaker 4: global market shares. Through the thirty seven Marvel film's character
- 15:00Speaker 4: are such a Spider Man, Captain, Marvel, Black Widow, iron Man,
- 15:03Speaker 4: Black Panther four, and the Hulk have become household names.
- 15:07Speaker 1: If that house was full of fucking.
- 15:09Speaker 4: Nerds, right right, let's play Pandemonia.
- 15:17Speaker 3: Thank you, Audra.
- 15:19Speaker 2: All Right, just before we get to today's games, I've
- 15:21Speaker 2: asked each player to bring in a muse, something that
- 15:24Speaker 2: inspires them or something they love from this particular fandom.
- 15:27Speaker 2: Marvel is inspiring to me because they have the audacity
- 15:29Speaker 2: to make the same thing over and over again, something
- 15:32Speaker 2: that this show very much depends on.
- 15:35Speaker 3: So thank you Marvel. Jason. We'll start with you. What's
- 15:38Speaker 3: inspiring you from the world of Marvin L. Marvel, Marvel,
- 15:42Speaker 3: Captain Marvel.
- 15:43Speaker 7: The thing that's inspiring me about Marvel comics and comics
- 15:45Speaker 7: in general is small business. My local combook shop. So
- 15:50Speaker 7: my local comb book shop here is Escape Velocity. I
- 15:53Speaker 7: think you should always support local businesses, and I don't
- 15:57Speaker 7: own a single combook that hasn't come from a local
- 15:59Speaker 7: com book shop or flea market or something like that.
- 16:03Speaker 7: Fuck Amazon. Yeah, it's inspired me so much that I
- 16:06Speaker 7: brought gift cards as prizes here where you can shop
- 16:09Speaker 7: and get your first combooks or continue combooks from Escape Philosophy.
- 16:12Speaker 2: Sure, yeah, we'll be handing those out in round two
- 16:15Speaker 2: for audience members who submitted superhero names. If you want
- 16:19Speaker 2: to admit to the superhero names you submit it. Thank you, Jason.
- 16:25Speaker 2: That's very inspiring. I love that support local business. We're
- 16:27Speaker 2: doing it right now. Even what's inspiring you from the
- 16:30Speaker 2: world of novel.
- 16:32Speaker 6: I just love how you can be, like Hella, past
- 16:35Speaker 6: your prime. Keep on trucking, you know. Oh that's it.
- 16:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:46Speaker 6: Sorry, I own this small business of this theater, but
- 16:48Speaker 6: I have nothing inspiring to add.
- 16:51Speaker 3: Well, that is inspiring. And look, Ethan, are you implying
- 16:54Speaker 3: that you're past your prime?
- 16:56Speaker 7: Hell yeah, as a failed business owner, you inspired me brother,
- 17:02Speaker 7: living the dream.
- 17:04Speaker 3: Well, Ethan, keep on trucking. That's what Robin would say.
- 17:10Speaker 3: Very inspiring stuff.
- 17:12Speaker 2: I sense the Batman themes coming from this side of
- 17:15Speaker 2: the room. Okay, let's move on over to your opponents,
- 17:19Speaker 2: the the dick Benders. H Johnny, what's inspiring you from
- 17:23Speaker 2: the world novel?
- 17:24Speaker 5: So, based on what Ethan just said, I'm worried I
- 17:27Speaker 5: misread the assignment. No he did, Okay, I brought a
- 17:32Speaker 5: comic book.
- 17:32Speaker 7: Yeah, so this is I know what it is. Crazy
- 17:41Speaker 7: way to find out Johnny can't read as well. You know,
- 17:45Speaker 7: pretty pictures.
- 17:46Speaker 3: You know what.
- 17:47Speaker 5: Jason, I'm sorry, but I'm gonna have to take you
- 17:49Speaker 5: down on your last Night here.
- 17:53Speaker 1: Oh they didn't like that, I'm sorry.
- 17:56Speaker 3: Oh you're the villains, You're the villains.
- 17:57Speaker 5: Yeah, this is Brian Michael Bendis's and Alex mcleive's Moonnight.
- 18:02Speaker 5: It's a phenomenal place to start if you want to
- 18:05Speaker 5: read comics. This was the first comic I ever bought
- 18:08Speaker 5: with my own money, and I bought the actual books
- 18:12Speaker 5: from a store, like Jason said, And then there was
- 18:16Speaker 5: a time in my life where I was just too
- 18:17Speaker 5: Christian to read comics, so I got rid of them,
- 18:22Speaker 5: and so I no longer have those original copies, but
- 18:25Speaker 5: I bought like the set when I came to my senses.
- 18:29Speaker 5: And yes, if you see the names Bendis and Malieve together,
- 18:38Speaker 5: their art and their their work together as as writers
- 18:41Speaker 5: and artists is just like stunning.
- 18:43Speaker 3: Their their Daredevil run was like mind blowing. So that's awesome.
- 18:48Speaker 3: It's great to be inspired by your favorite artists. That's
- 18:50Speaker 3: how amused should go. Thank you, Jonny. Yes, and last,
- 18:55Speaker 3: but not least, oder, what's inspiring you from the world
- 18:58Speaker 3: of novel?
- 18:58Speaker 4: I am inspired by superheroes like Scarlet, Witch, Black Widow,
- 19:04Speaker 4: like Gomora, and just these incredible people who had so
- 19:10Speaker 4: much power and like so much capability, but more than superhero,
- 19:15Speaker 4: they fulfilled a more important role as the token woman.
- 19:20Speaker 1: And that's really.
- 19:20Speaker 4: Inspiring to me in the current landscape we can see, and.
- 19:27Speaker 1: I'm really hoping that that's gonna.
- 19:29Speaker 4: Push me forward to victory as a teammate on the
- 19:32Speaker 4: Dick Benders.
- 19:36Speaker 3: Beautiful stuff.
- 19:37Speaker 5: I think Dick Bender is very pro woman, right, yeah, yeah, dicks.
- 19:44Speaker 1: As of your mouth, it.
- 19:49Speaker 3: Doesn't sound so pro woman.
- 19:50Speaker 1: Yeah, I won't say it anymore.
- 19:53Speaker 9: We're bending those dicks.
- 20:05Speaker 1: Please spit out my drakes, your assholes.
- 20:11Speaker 2: And with that chance, shall we play some games? All right,
- 20:15Speaker 2: Let's listen to the police scanner, answer the call to action,
- 20:18Speaker 2: and swing our way into round one. Round one is
- 20:25Speaker 2: called promo battle. Is everyone familiar with the concept of
- 20:28Speaker 2: promos in professional wrestling? Is this a familiar concept you guys?
- 20:32Speaker 3: Yeah? Yeah, say angry thing.
- 20:37Speaker 6: Bone size, I'm going to you for three minutes.
- 20:45Speaker 3: And to that effect. Yes.
- 20:47Speaker 2: In this game, in turns, I will ask one player
- 20:50Speaker 2: to lower their head and close their eyes, and you'll
- 20:52Speaker 2: be able to see and make sure that they're doing that.
- 20:54Speaker 2: They will be our guesser. I will then show everyone
- 20:57Speaker 2: else in the room the name of a Marvel character.
- 21:00Speaker 2: Their teammate will then cut a thirty second wrestling promo
- 21:03Speaker 2: on this character as though they are their opponents in
- 21:06Speaker 2: an upcoming wrestling match. It's then up to the guesser
- 21:08Speaker 2: to correctly guess the character for a point. Do we
- 21:11Speaker 2: understand the game?
- 21:12Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 21:12Speaker 3: We're the enemy? Yeah, we like trash talking? Where the
- 21:17Speaker 3: bones aw? Yeah, that's the Spider Man?
- 21:21Speaker 1: Could you do? Could you do Spider Man?
- 21:23Speaker 6: Please?
- 21:23Speaker 7: So we can bon s whatever you do, just do bones.
- 21:30Speaker 7: I only speak bon sa.
- 21:33Speaker 6: All right.
- 21:33Speaker 2: So we're going to play two passes of this, first
- 21:35Speaker 2: past pretty mainstream characters and then the second past whatever
- 21:38Speaker 2: name seemed funny to me on the Wikipedia page. So
- 21:42Speaker 2: we'll see how this goes. So, first up, it is
- 21:43Speaker 2: going to be Johnny guessing. So Johnny, could you close
- 21:46Speaker 2: your eyes, lower your head, that sort of thing while
- 21:47Speaker 2: everyone else in the room sees the name of the character. Okay,
- 21:53Speaker 2: we'll see if the groans give any clues. Ordrew, you
- 21:57Speaker 2: know that character?
- 21:57Speaker 3: Are you ready?
- 21:58Speaker 4: Yes?
- 21:58Speaker 3: All right?
- 21:59Speaker 1: I am ready, and I know that character.
- 22:00Speaker 3: I have a thirty second time here. You ready to
- 22:02Speaker 3: cut your wrestling promo? Johnny? You can look now, all right?
- 22:07Speaker 3: Your time stots.
- 22:08Speaker 1: Now listen here, you little shit.
- 22:11Speaker 4: I know you've got so much money, but you're not
- 22:13Speaker 4: gonna buy your way out of this match. We're gonna
- 22:16Speaker 4: kick your ass.
- 22:20Speaker 3: I didn't even neat the full time.
- 22:22Speaker 1: Step am I supposed to wait?
- 22:27Speaker 2: It's a comedy show, so we'd love to hear orders
- 22:29Speaker 2: full promo. But it's exciting that your enthusiastic I.
- 22:32Speaker 3: Am so embarrassed. I'm kidding.
- 22:37Speaker 1: I just gave great clues and it's really validating to me.
- 22:40Speaker 1: Don't apologize.
- 22:41Speaker 3: I'll wait next time.
- 22:43Speaker 4: It's great that you think that a harder clue I
- 22:47Speaker 4: will be able to communicate effectively.
- 22:49Speaker 1: That's a great faith that you have in me.
- 22:51Speaker 7: When you feel like I need to stop, cut me off.
- 22:55Speaker 7: I don't want to embarrass myself. I'm not gonna say anything.
- 23:03Speaker 2: All right, So next up guessing is Jason. So Jason,
- 23:05Speaker 2: could you close your eyes, lower your head and this
- 23:08Speaker 2: is the hero?
- 23:09Speaker 1: Oh yeah, okay.
- 23:13Speaker 3: All right, Ethan? Are you ready? M sure your promos
- 23:16Speaker 3: thoughts now? Oh?
- 23:19Speaker 6: Yeah, you're the NEPO baby who's thousands of years old.
- 23:23Speaker 6: You think you can come in here with your chiseled
- 23:26Speaker 6: abs and you're weird eyebrows and your brother suck, but
- 23:34Speaker 6: everyone loves him because he's kind of hard. I'm gonna
- 23:39Speaker 6: I'm gonna rip you a new one. It's your your
- 23:44Speaker 6: whole ass guard.
- 23:46Speaker 2: Oh, there you go, that's your time, Jason, who was
- 23:51Speaker 2: Ethan cutting a wrestling promo about?
- 23:54Speaker 7: Or? Yeah?
- 23:58Speaker 3: Just stuff? And thank you to Chris for the lightning changes,
- 24:02Speaker 3: Chris more red light from my skin? Please?
- 24:08Speaker 6: Ye see our pants? It's for your balls? Right, I'm

- 24:24Speaker 3: not that kind of podcast.
- 24:28Speaker 1: Bone saws ready?
- 24:30Speaker 3: Please? Every day you.
- 24:32Speaker 7: Tell me about the manosphere and red light on your balls.

- 24:42Speaker 2: Well, next up Ordra will be guessing with Johnny cutting
- 24:45Speaker 2: the wrestling promo. So thank you Ordra for lowering Isla.
- 24:48Speaker 2: This is the character.
- 24:52Speaker 1: It is weird hearing people react. We've done this for
- 24:57Speaker 1: four years with no one reacting to the clue when
- 24:59Speaker 1: I don't know it?
- 25:02Speaker 2: All right, Jony, you ready to cut your promo? Your
- 25:04Speaker 2: time stops now.

- 32:12Speaker 3: the words? I don't watch that much, I would say.
- 32:15Speaker 6: I think more like how they name every fucking character
- 32:18Speaker 6: in Marble is like the how letters work.
- 32:24Speaker 3: Oh I see Baron Blood.
- 32:28Speaker 1: Oh my god?

- 35:11Speaker 7: You might be a fish out of water, and you
- 35:13Speaker 7: might have gained some popularity as of late for being
- 35:15Speaker 7: an adorable little guy. I'm gonna tell you right now,
- 35:18Speaker 7: I'm you're like a fish in a fucking barrel. I'm
- 35:22Speaker 7: gonna take you out, homie. This ain't jaws, all right,
- 35:25Speaker 7: you're not. You don't got the safety of all the
- 35:29Speaker 7: adorable characters that you hang out with anymore. All right,
- 35:32Speaker 7: uh fish on land.
- 35:35Speaker 3: Yeah, all right.
- 35:36Speaker 1: That's the time.
- 35:42Speaker 3: You looked at me like you had no idea what's
- 35:43Speaker 3: going on? I just wanted you to I just liked
- 35:47Speaker 3: what you were doing. So, Ethan, do you have an
- 35:50Speaker 3: idea of the character?
- 35:52Speaker 6: If it's from the same thing? Is the other thing
- 35:54Speaker 6: that I think I do because I'm on the internet
- 35:56Speaker 6: and I know this because a lot of it. Yeah,
- 36:00Speaker 6: quote quote unquote art Jeff the shark that close Jeff something, Jeff.
- 36:06Speaker 2: Give it to You did leave out the one word
- 36:08Speaker 2: that Jason did say, which you're not allowed to do
- 36:10Speaker 2: during the land Shark.
- 36:12Speaker 3: Yeah, no, I was kind last time. No point.
- 36:18Speaker 5: Justice, Yeah that's fair. Hey you guys, that was so cool.
- 36:21Speaker 5: But I'm just said you didn't get a point.
- 36:24Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, so.
- 36:26Speaker 3: Sad and with ultra sadness. That is the end of
- 36:29Speaker 3: round one. Producer Jen, can you please defrost? The latest
- 36:34Speaker 3: scores for us Dick Benders are on two points?
- 36:38Speaker 1: Yeah what.
- 36:40Speaker 3: A point?
- 36:41Speaker 1: All right?
- 36:44Speaker 3: Oh yeah, points up. Good golly, Batman, that's a lot
- 36:47Speaker 3: of points because it doesn't matter.
- 36:52Speaker 6: It's already not not in the wheelhouse Robin's famous catchphrase,
- 36:57Speaker 6: good golly, miss Batman.
- 37:07Speaker 3: All right, on to round two. Round two is called
- 37:09Speaker 3: pitch It.
- 37:10Speaker 2: It's the game where I ask our players to take
- 37:12Speaker 2: on the roles of junior media executives to pitch ideas.
- 37:15Speaker 3: To me, a senior media executive. It's got my forehead wrinkles.
- 37:31Speaker 3: But what will they be pitching.
- 37:32Speaker 2: I'm not doing a Kevin Figgy voice. Throughout the evening,
- 37:35Speaker 2: members of our audience have submitted the names of brand
- 37:38Speaker 2: new superheroes, heroes that don't exist yet. I will draw
- 37:42Speaker 2: a name for each team, and then each team will
- 37:44Speaker 2: have sixty seconds to pitch their superhero and then Old
- 37:47Speaker 2: k Figs and the audience will decide which one we
- 37:50Speaker 2: thought was best. So it's head to head pitching, like
- 37:53Speaker 2: when Iron Man and Captain America went head to head
- 37:55Speaker 2: in that film.
- 37:56Speaker 3: I didn't watch, Roger did, and it was on a
- 38:00Speaker 3: certain orange sight because of the art.
- 38:03Speaker 1: Yeah, so they became friends at the end.
- 38:11Speaker 2: All right, And at the end of the round, our
- 38:13Speaker 2: panel will decide what their favorite superhero names were that
- 38:16Speaker 2: were drawn, and you guys will get some vouchers to
- 38:18Speaker 2: escape velocity comments. Yeah, all right, So I'm gonna pick
- 38:21Speaker 2: a superhero for each team. Here, Udra and Johnny, you
- 38:25Speaker 2: have the the Gerbil Gobbler. This is the name of
- 38:29Speaker 2: your hero, which will be pitched directly against Freeze ray Woman.
- 38:38Speaker 2: The Gerbil Gobbler and Freeze ray Woman. You can use
- 38:41Speaker 2: your minute however you want between your team. If you
- 38:43Speaker 2: want one person to take the lead in the other
- 38:44Speaker 2: person to be a hype man. K Figs doesn't mind.
- 38:49Speaker 2: I enjoy this persona.
- 38:53Speaker 1: Unbothered.
- 38:55Speaker 2: Okay, so we're gonna start with making the pitch for
- 38:57Speaker 2: the for the next hit superhero to be.
- 38:59Speaker 3: The Jebel Gubbler. You guys, ready, Benny take it away.
- 39:03Speaker 5: So we start on a crisp field of grass, and
- 39:07Speaker 5: superhero movies never start that way. We're trying to do
- 39:09Speaker 5: something different here, Kevin, trying to do something outside of
- 39:12Speaker 5: the box. There's a Gerbil running through the field and
- 39:16Speaker 5: then a scary man just grabs it and eats it up.
- 39:23Speaker 4: It's an interesting take on We don't necessarily know immediately
- 39:27Speaker 4: if this person is going to be the hero of
- 39:29Speaker 4: our story, so it can tackle some really complex things.
- 39:33Speaker 1: But in this narrative, Yeah, but they will be the
- 39:35Speaker 1: hero though. Yes, we want you to know that.
- 39:37Speaker 3: Okay, we want you to know that, but we don't
- 39:40Speaker 3: want the audience to know that they will be the hero.
- 39:42Speaker 4: Okay, Yeah, and it's going to take some They're gonna
- 39:45Speaker 4: have to grow, they're gonna have to i don't know,
- 39:47Speaker 4: maybe lose a loved one, maybe come to love a
- 39:50Speaker 4: Gerbil that gets gobbled, and then they're gonna be a
- 39:52Speaker 4: little conflicted, okay, and then they're gonna have.
- 39:54Speaker 1: To save the world.
- 39:56Speaker 5: Basically, a giant Gerbil attacks New York and they kill it. WHOA,
- 40:01Speaker 5: that sounds dope, Yeah, it sounds dope.
- 40:05Speaker 3: That's the kind of thing.
- 40:06Speaker 2: Kevin Figy says right, yeah, all right, Well I can't
- 40:09Speaker 2: make a decision yet because I need to hear the
- 40:11Speaker 2: other pitch of Freeze Ray Woman, Ethan Jason, you ready, sure, yeah,
- 40:16Speaker 2: if it's.
- 40:17Speaker 3: Okay with you, I think we should just play a
- 40:18Speaker 3: clip of the trailer for you right now. All right,
- 40:23Speaker 3: So here we go. It sounds now in a world
- 40:28Speaker 3: a woman is too warm.
- 40:32Speaker 1: I'm too warm.
- 40:36Speaker 3: But she's a woman in stem so she can make
- 40:40Speaker 3: any kind of ray she wants.
- 40:42Speaker 1: What about a freeze right?
- 40:44Speaker 3: She cycled through a few other ideas before she got there, though.
- 40:49Speaker 1: What about a heat ray?
- 40:50Speaker 6: Wait?
- 40:50Speaker 3: No, it's too warm.
- 40:52Speaker 1: She got there pretty quick, anyway, she did.
- 40:58Speaker 6: She discovered the power of freezing stuff, the power of
- 41:03Speaker 6: freezing stuff and love.
- 41:08Speaker 3: Wow, frost you have never felt this way before. That's right,
- 41:11Speaker 3: it's a crossover with Hot Frosty.
- 41:15Speaker 6: She hooks up with the Snowman and then uses the
- 41:17Speaker 6: freezer ray to make a stick bigger five seconds. Yeah,
- 41:23Speaker 6: what did you say? That's yeah, there's the subplot on
- 41:34Speaker 6: Global Woman. Sorry, okay, good, but that came after the time. Yeah,
- 41:38Speaker 6: it doesn't count, It doesn't can't count it Well. Old
- 41:40Speaker 6: k Figs is tired from reading comics all day, so
- 41:43Speaker 6: I can't possibly make the decision of which was the best.
- 41:45Speaker 6: So please, as our audience, could you cheer if you
- 41:49Speaker 6: thought that the Gerbil Gobbler was the best here.
- 41:54Speaker 3: And now cheer if you thought Freeze ray Woman was
- 41:56Speaker 3: the best? All right, it's gonna be a pointing over
- 42:00Speaker 3: here that applauses made me so warm.
- 42:04Speaker 1: Because warms the Pacific Ocean.
- 42:08Speaker 3: All right, Let's let's have another couple of heroes. Let's
- 42:11Speaker 3: have another k Fike's hungry, he's hungry for superheroes. Yeah,
- 42:15Speaker 3: don't gobble.
- 42:18Speaker 1: Gobbler. Uh huh, gobbler gobbler.
- 42:22Speaker 2: We have for Udra and Johnny. We have Blenda Go,
- 42:28Speaker 2: Blenda Go, and that will be pitched against the existential crisis.
- 42:40Speaker 2: All right, And this time I think we'll start with
- 42:42Speaker 2: Jason and Ethan. So you guys ready take it away?
- 42:46Speaker 3: Me?
- 42:47Speaker 7: I did the left, all right? So what I mean,
- 42:51Speaker 7: we've got a lot of people who are sick and
- 42:52Speaker 7: tired of superhero movies. We gotta revive it, right, and
- 42:55Speaker 7: we gotta go outside the box. Well, we gotta also
- 42:59Speaker 7: grow with our audience, and I feel like they're feeling
- 43:01Speaker 7: a lot of things as of late, Kevin, I feel
- 43:03Speaker 7: like they're feeling like we're not performing where we are,
- 43:07Speaker 7: and I've got a new hero for you.
- 43:09Speaker 3: Take it away.
- 43:10Speaker 6: Existential Crisis is not a movie as much as it's
- 43:14Speaker 6: an experience. You just live it and have it, and
- 43:21Speaker 6: we charge people money for it. You walk into the theater,
- 43:26Speaker 6: nothing's playing, there's ushers sweeping up, and then you walk
- 43:30Speaker 6: out confused and alone.
- 43:33Speaker 7: We make the extra the end credit scene extra long
- 43:36Speaker 7: so that you can just get to stew with your
- 43:38Speaker 7: thoughts on what's going to happen next.
- 43:40Speaker 3: Yeah, it's it. Tees up a Wii. That's your time.
- 43:48Speaker 1: I love it.
- 43:49Speaker 2: I like the amount of like Marvel bullshit you had
- 43:52Speaker 2: that of just like mentioning the end credits thing. I
- 43:55Speaker 2: feel like every time I ask someone what was the
- 43:57Speaker 2: Marvel movie? Like, they just talk about the end. It's wild,
- 44:01Speaker 2: all right, But I can't make a decision. Yeah, because
- 44:03Speaker 2: we need to hear what Blender Girl is all about.
- 44:06Speaker 2: So Johnny Older, are you ready?
- 44:08Speaker 3: We're ready? Yes, take it away.
- 44:11Speaker 1: In this film, we answer the question will it blend? Yes,
- 44:17Speaker 1: it will. It wouldn't before, but now it will.
- 44:20Speaker 3: You'd be surprised, Kevin. Usually it blends.
- 44:26Speaker 1: Every now and then. Every now and then.
- 44:29Speaker 4: They need to bring bring in blender Girl because the
- 44:31Speaker 4: thing actually won't blend.
- 44:33Speaker 1: It's quite surprising.
- 44:34Speaker 5: She's got blended farms and a great work life balance.
- 44:41Speaker 5: You'd be surprised, Kevin, she's got a great work life balance.
- 44:44Speaker 4: This is really I think this really speaks to an
- 44:47Speaker 4: underserved market of women where they're just absolutely overworking themselves
- 44:52Speaker 4: and they need to see blender Girl solve some minor
- 44:56Speaker 4: problems with her super patent power. Yeah, it doesn't always.
- 45:00Speaker 1: Have to be that the world is ending. Sometimes you
- 45:02Speaker 1: can solve a small problem and it's validating. Kevin, you
- 45:05Speaker 1: be surprised how many women have blendish farms.
- 45:09Speaker 3: I'm not too, sir. I am serving. Like the tagline is,
- 45:17Speaker 3: you'd be surprised.
- 45:21Speaker 7: That there's so many women out there who are, like, God,
- 45:24Speaker 7: if only I could blend this smoothie up.
- 45:26Speaker 3: But I'm just shopping. It's slowly blender girls here. Oh
- 45:31Speaker 3: my god. I have a question. How many l's were
- 45:34Speaker 3: in the name. Was it a lot of l's or
- 45:36Speaker 3: I would say roughly between seven and eight. I don't
- 45:40Speaker 3: know if that was addressed seven ls. Let's let's not
- 45:44Speaker 3: have slander from this side.
- 45:46Speaker 1: Okay, she doesn't need to live up to your expectations.
- 45:49Speaker 2: Okay, all right, I don't know how this is gonna go,
- 45:53Speaker 2: but uh could could I get a cheer if you
- 45:56Speaker 2: enjoyed the pitch of the existential crisis?
- 46:01Speaker 3: And what about blender girls, it's gonna be points for
- 46:06Speaker 3: the dick Blenders?
- 46:07Speaker 1: Hey will.
- 46:13Speaker 3: Oh she's guys, she's the dick Blender.
- 46:22Speaker 1: How did we miss that? God?
- 46:25Speaker 3: Damn it? That would have been great. You would have
- 46:27Speaker 3: scored more points. Can we change our name to the
- 46:30Speaker 3: dick Blenders? Please?
- 46:31Speaker 5: Do you want to do that?
- 46:32Speaker 1: Do you want to Well, I'm going to refer to yes.
- 46:35Speaker 3: Okay, you're the You're the dick Blenders. Now blare. Oh
- 46:46Speaker 3: you guys are fantastic. All right, we're gonna have one
- 46:48Speaker 3: more heads ahead match up here and the dick Blenders.
- 46:53Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 46:54Speaker 3: You have no pants man as a hero.
- 47:02Speaker 1: Combination Jack Flenders and no pants.
- 47:05Speaker 3: Okay, all right, let's make sure I'm getting different handwritings here,
- 47:08Speaker 3: but we'll find out. We've got four Jason and Ethan,
- 47:12Speaker 3: We've got chill Zilla. Chilling Zilla.
- 47:18Speaker 2: Is the name of your hero. We're gonna start with
- 47:20Speaker 2: the dick Blenders. I refuse to learn that team name
- 47:23Speaker 2: because it's to do with DC. You guys, ready, ready,
- 47:27Speaker 2: your time starts now, Kevin, close your eyes. Let me
- 47:31Speaker 2: take you on a journey.
- 47:33Speaker 5: There's a field with crisp grass, and we pan up,
- 47:38Speaker 5: we pan up a man's legs.
- 47:42Speaker 3: We pan up a man's legs. They're harry, are they sweaty?
- 47:49Speaker 5: What's going on? And then we see his ass and
- 47:53Speaker 5: there's no pants on it. There's no underpants on it. Kevin,
- 47:58Speaker 5: you'd be surprised, you'd be surprised. How many guys don't
- 48:03Speaker 5: have underpants? And this man doesn't have his pants on, Kevin,
- 48:08Speaker 5: and he's a hero.
- 48:12Speaker 1: He's surprised.
- 48:13Speaker 4: How many people just don't want to be wearing pants,
- 48:18Speaker 4: myself included. I call myself in that number someone who
- 48:21Speaker 4: would rather not be wearing pants. And I think that
- 48:24Speaker 4: this speaks to a generation of people who are empowered
- 48:27Speaker 4: to just, I don't know, not wear them pants.
- 48:30Speaker 3: Lovely stuff. I'd be surprised. I'd be so surprised, you'd
- 48:36Speaker 3: be surprised. Fantastic stuff. But before we make a decision,
- 48:40Speaker 3: we need to hear the pitch for chill Zilla. Sure, Okay, yeah, yeah, okay, okay,
- 48:45Speaker 3: take it away, all right, close your eyes. It's a
- 48:50Speaker 3: field of beautiful dewy grass. We pan up.
- 48:54Speaker 6: Giant reptile leggs. What's that in his hand when we
- 48:59Speaker 6: get above his A big old blunt. That's right, he's
- 49:04Speaker 6: a twenty seven story tall giant reptile smoking weed in
- 49:09Speaker 6: a field.
- 49:10Speaker 7: Hell yeah, I do, Hell yeah. When existential crisis comes,
- 49:15Speaker 7: he comes to save today.
- 49:16Speaker 3: All right, he's there. It's a sequel.
- 49:19Speaker 7: It's a sequel, Kevin, okay, And we pan back down,
- 49:22Speaker 7: back down to some dank grass being rolled up.
- 49:26Speaker 3: The grass is a metaphorne.
- 49:29Speaker 7: To be real fucking chill, all right, because you know,
- 49:33Speaker 7: you could be twenty seven stories high. You can also
- 49:35Speaker 7: be twenty seven living at home, and that's okay with
- 49:38Speaker 7: zero goals.
- 49:40Speaker 6: It's like a It's like the old iTunes visualizer is
- 49:44Speaker 6: half of them movie, all right?
- 49:46Speaker 2: And you do on a Notunes visualizer. Oh man, that's
- 49:50Speaker 2: really tough. I love both of those superheroes. I want
- 49:53Speaker 2: to make them both into movies because I'm Kevin Figi.
- 49:55Speaker 2: Butok I'm not gonna make the decision. It's gonna be
- 49:58Speaker 2: up to you guys, the audience, So give me a
- 50:01Speaker 2: cheer if you want, if you want to see No Pantsman.
- 50:06Speaker 3: And what about ChIL Zilla.
- 50:10Speaker 2: I think ChIL Zilla was just a little bit loudest,
- 50:12Speaker 2: So yeah, it's gonna be points to I've already forgotten.
- 50:15Speaker 3: The team name.
- 50:19Speaker 4: God, I cannot wait for No pants Man and chill
- 50:23Speaker 4: Zella to team up and just take on.
- 50:26Speaker 3: I don't know pants.
- 50:30Speaker 7: You're the same guy, say yeah, it's a freaky situation.
- 50:38Speaker 7: See what happens is no pants Guy? He gets on,
- 50:40Speaker 7: he gets put on trial for unknown reasons. He asked
- 50:44Speaker 7: ChIL Zilla to step in for him in the absence.
- 50:48Speaker 1: Pick up the mantle, past the sacrificial blunt. Beautiful, It's beautiful.
- 50:56Speaker 3: You'd be surprised. I'm so sorry. All right, that's the
- 51:01Speaker 3: end of the round. That bold cap is hot.
- 51:07Speaker 7: Okay, I think it's diabolic of yous. You could have
- 51:09Speaker 7: just worn the hat. He decided to wear the.
- 51:11Speaker 3: Bald and the hat.
- 51:13Speaker 2: Look, I've got too much lushes have to be Kevin. Fine, Okay,
- 51:20Speaker 2: that's the end of the round. Producer, Jen, could you
- 51:22Speaker 2: summon a portal to reveal the latest scores?
- 51:27Speaker 1: Around five and the dick blenders.
- 51:33Speaker 3: Still pretty close, Still pretty close, Okay, round three, it's
- 51:41Speaker 3: called rotten.
- 51:41Speaker 2: You say tomatoes, I say tomatoes. Are we all familiar
- 51:46Speaker 2: with the movie review aggregator rotten Tomatoes. Yes, you actually
- 51:50Speaker 2: say tomatoes, I say Tomasah does.
- 51:54Speaker 4: The first time I saw the name of this game,
- 51:56Speaker 4: it was written down until it made a lot less sense.
- 52:00Speaker 1: You say tomatoes, I say tomatoes. Tomatoes.
- 52:06Speaker 2: So in this game, our teams will work together to
- 52:08Speaker 2: compose a review of a film from the MCU. The twist,
- 52:12Speaker 2: they will write that review one word at a time,
- 52:15Speaker 2: back and forth between teammates. The second twist, the tone
- 52:19Speaker 2: of their review must match the percentage rolled on this
- 52:21Speaker 2: one hundred sided Now the third twist. Wait, wait till
- 52:27Speaker 2: they hear the third twist, because we got to have
- 52:31Speaker 2: more hats here. I'm going to spin this wheel to
- 52:33Speaker 2: reveal the publication you're writing for. So I'd also like
- 52:36Speaker 2: to hear it in the voice of that publication. We've
- 52:41Speaker 2: got a few. I'll read what publications we have here.
- 52:43Speaker 2: We've got the BBC, Boston Globe, Vogue Magazine, Vice Online,
- 52:46Speaker 2: Mom Talk, the Financial Times, Common Sense Media, and the
- 52:50Speaker 2: Colorado Springs Gazette. Production not I genuinely had turning point
- 52:55Speaker 2: us as one of the publications.
- 52:58Speaker 3: Nix that. Let's get rid of that.
- 53:01Speaker 2: Okay, So three points up for grabs per review, one
- 53:05Speaker 2: for film knowledge, one for matching the percentage, and one
- 53:08Speaker 2: for matching the voice of the outlet you represent. So
- 53:12Speaker 2: we are going to start with the Dick Blenders, and
- 53:15Speaker 2: your film that you will be reviewing is Guardians of
- 53:18Speaker 2: the Galaxy. I'm gonna roll the dice to see what
- 53:23Speaker 2: kind of review you'll be giving. Oh my goodness, a
- 53:26Speaker 2: nine percent review of Guardians of the gal and you
- 53:30Speaker 2: are writing that review for the Boston Globe. So I'd
- 53:35Speaker 2: like to hear that in the voice of the Boston
- 53:38Speaker 2: Globe when you're ready take it away.
- 53:42Speaker 3: When this movie started, I was in the theater.
- 53:52Speaker 1: With my wife and she.
- 53:58Speaker 3: Was not happy. Sense she was crying.
- 54:09Speaker 1: This movie was ah, not.
- 54:18Speaker 3: All right.
- 54:19Speaker 2: I think that's your review. Fantastic stuff. I look look
- 54:24Speaker 2: great Boston accent from Johnny. I felt the effort there.
- 54:28Speaker 2: It's it's the Boston Globe. It felt like a nine percent,
- 54:32Speaker 2: So two points. I didn't hear anything about the film
- 54:34Speaker 2: itself though, soe was crying.
- 54:42Speaker 3: She was crying man in the theater. Yeah, I can
- 54:46Speaker 3: so two points. Out of three, though, take it.
- 54:50Speaker 1: That's very kind. Graciously accept.
- 54:54Speaker 3: We'll practice Boston accents.
- 54:56Speaker 1: No, we won't.
- 54:59Speaker 3: Hey, I'm for Boston. I like sports.
- 55:05Speaker 4: I was just trying to decide where the Boston Globe
- 55:08Speaker 4: fell politically on this.
- 55:10Speaker 1: I was like, I don't know what the tone is here.
- 55:13Speaker 3: I think they serve a working class that year. I
- 55:14Speaker 3: think I think they're all right.
- 55:15Speaker 1: I should have I should have utilized that.
- 55:19Speaker 3: What's mon talk? What's any of this ship? I can't read? Dude,
- 55:23Speaker 3: what don't worry about until it happens.
- 55:25Speaker 2: It's about to happen right now. So Batman and Robin,
- 55:30Speaker 2: your movie is Avengers Infinity War. That is that is
- 55:34Speaker 2: your movie, and your percentage is sixty five sixty.
- 55:39Speaker 3: Five pretty average, pretty average? Okay, and you are writing
- 55:42Speaker 3: for the BBC. All right, take it away whenever you're ready.
- 55:52Speaker 8: This film was all right. We could have seen more
- 56:02Speaker 8: British people. That was quite disappointing. The Stones were beautiful,
- 56:20Speaker 8: but the CGI was lacking. We also noted that Thurnos
- 56:32Speaker 8: could have been better.
- 56:37Speaker 3: Good stuff.
- 56:37Speaker 2: I thought that was a great review. Fantastic accents. Just
- 56:42Speaker 2: like how I talk Tomato, I heard movie knowledge, I
- 56:50Speaker 2: heard Stones I heard danas, I heard an average review,
- 56:53Speaker 2: and I heard British accents. The three out of three points,
- 56:55Speaker 2: I think, Oh yeah, Okay, back on over to the
- 57:00Speaker 2: dick Blenders.
- 57:01Speaker 3: Your I have to keep saying it.
- 57:06Speaker 1: It's my favorite part.
- 57:09Speaker 3: Blend blend, motherfucker.
- 57:13Speaker 2: Your next film is ant Man and the Wasp Quantumania.
- 57:17Speaker 2: Very popular film, very popular film. Your percentage is eighty two.
- 57:25Speaker 3: Hell yeah, love that movie.
- 57:28Speaker 2: And your publication is the Colorado Springs Gazette.
- 57:33Speaker 3: Whenever you're ready.
- 57:34Speaker 5: Ant Man was good. I really but that this journey
- 57:47Speaker 5: was profound. It went uh way that I didn't expect.
- 57:59Speaker 1: But they made uh solid movie, all right.
- 58:13Speaker 3: Okay, I didn't hear too much about the specifics of
- 58:16Speaker 3: the movie itself.
- 58:16Speaker 1: Again that's true.
- 58:18Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 58:20Speaker 2: Obviously, you match the tone of the percentage. If you
- 58:22Speaker 2: can tell me what about that was Colorado Springs, I'll
- 58:24Speaker 2: give you a point for that as well.
- 58:26Speaker 3: We live here, you live here? Oh great, Yes, two
- 58:31Speaker 3: points for the dick Blenders. Just trying to talk with
- 58:34Speaker 3: my true voice.
- 58:36Speaker 7: You know.
- 58:37Speaker 1: Yeah, it's really authentic to me, and it hurts that
- 58:40Speaker 1: you questioned that.
- 58:43Speaker 3: The only thing phony about that was that it got
- 58:47Speaker 3: an eighty.
- 58:47Speaker 5: Two percent because that movie sucky.
- 58:51Speaker 3: That was the most energy. These are opinions on a podcast.
- 58:56Speaker 7: This is good, that movie sucks. Such a passionate review.
- 59:04Speaker 2: Okay, for Batman and Robin, we're gonna have another movie
- 59:07Speaker 2: that everyone's seen. You've got the Eternals. Is your Is
- 59:10Speaker 2: your movie?
- 59:11Speaker 3: A gasp?
- 59:12Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 59:13Speaker 3: Real talk underrated. I liked it.
- 59:16Speaker 1: I agree with.
- 59:16Speaker 5: Jason as much as I hate you, and I'm gonna
- 59:19Speaker 5: crush you in this.
- 59:19Speaker 3: Game for sure.
- 59:20Speaker 1: I love them all right. I was underrated.
- 59:23Speaker 2: Absolutely, I love you and I respect Okay, let's find
- 59:29Speaker 2: out what it is rated. You cannot make this up.
- 59:32Speaker 3: It's one A one percent review of the Eternals for
- 59:41Speaker 3: the Financial Times. A one percent review of Marvels the
- 59:46Speaker 3: Eternals for the Financial Times.
- 59:48Speaker 7: Take it away. Eternals has no money? What poor people
- 59:59Speaker 7: made these movie trash? Could Eternals use more money? Yes,
- 1:00:12Speaker 7: give us more money. There were eight characters no money.
- 1:00:30Speaker 3: I think that's it. I think that's the perfect review.
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: That was my authentic self fantastic, and you were so authentic.
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: So the Financial Times definitely a point. That definitely a
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: point for matching one percent, because you guys could not
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: give a shit. I didn't hear too much about the
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: eternal specifically eight people.
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: Eight characters don't know. I'm sorry. Also, no money, remember,
- 1:01:00Speaker 3: oh yeah, no factual money.
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: KINGO had a lot of money though.
- 1:01:07Speaker 5: Inaccuracies, but the money made. But you're suggesting that the
- 1:01:12Speaker 5: characters had no money, but Kingo was really rich.
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: Hmm okay, so no, I'm going to say half a
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: point so that we don't have a tie. So two
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: and a half points, so sorry, we're dealing in half points.
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: We're in decimals. We're in decimals. All right, that's the
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: end of round three, Producer, Jen, I've given you so
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: much time to calculate those decimals. Could you please use
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: your mutation of counting to reveal the later.
- 1:01:38Speaker 4: Scores are on ten point five points.
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: Decimals, But there won't be a tie and anything can
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: change in our quick fire around because that's where most
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: of the points are scored. But before that, I'd like
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: to remind everyone of the mystery prize. Yes, no expenses
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: being spared. Genuinely exciting.
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: So should we do this? Should we do the final round?
- 1:02:14Speaker 3: All right?
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: Our final quick fight, Thank you for that, Johnny, Our
- 1:02:16Speaker 2: final quick fire around will test your broader pop culture knowledge,
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: and it's called MCU. Next Tuesday. In this game, I
- 1:02:25Speaker 2: will give our players a synopsis for a Marvel movie
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: combined with another famous movie. Your answer will be the
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: two titles ran into each other, with the Marvel movie
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: always being first. It's much simpler than it sounds, and
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: it could be any Marvel movie, not just the MCU. So,
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: for example, if I said an ancient Egyptian mutant is
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: inadvertently revived in nineteen eighty three and along with Martin Sheen,
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: is on a secret mission to assassinate Colonel Kurtz deep
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: in the heart of Vietnam, directed by francs.
- 1:02:56Speaker 3: Yes Ethan. Is it apocalypse now?
- 1:02:59Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:03:02Speaker 3: Good stuff.
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: Just like so, it's the start of a Marvel movie
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: that leads straight into the title of another movie. I've
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: left a lot of time for this in case it
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: takes us half an hour to get through all twelve clues.
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: You've got to say the answer correctly or I can't
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: give you the points and someone else can buzz in.
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: If not, it's quick fire, So you buzz in by
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: yelling out your team name. Let's practice that now, Batman
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: versus Dick blenders. All right, you can interrupt me.
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: Sorry, did you say quietly?
- 1:03:34Speaker 3: It's nice?
- 1:03:36Speaker 7: God damn it, I said, you said Batman versus Dick Blender.
- 1:03:40Speaker 7: And I was like, that's what he calls calls Robin.
- 1:03:43Speaker 7: Is it Dick Blender? Yeah, I'm sorry, Robin fucks.
- 1:03:51Speaker 3: Depends on the Robin.
- 1:03:52Speaker 6: Yeah, Rob, this is about Marvel though, say which Robin's book.
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: It's increasing We're getting off to the off topic, very
- 1:04:04Speaker 3: off top. I'll cut it all.
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: Okay, are you guys ready, Yeah, we'll start the timer now.
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: Chris Pratt and a crew of misfits sci fi actors
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: go on the run after they are drawn into a
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: real interstellar conflict by aliens who think their series is
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: a documentary starring Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, and Alan Reckman.
- 1:04:24Speaker 3: Oh John, you got it, you got this.
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: It's it's it's it's uh. I don't remember the movie.
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: I've seen it. Yep. Guardians of the Something Yep, I know.
- 1:04:40Speaker 4: But Guardians of the Galaxy into Something Else galaxy.
- 1:04:45Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm gonna have to pass it. Pass the Galaxy.
- 1:04:53Speaker 5: Quest, Galaxy Quest. I couldn't remember. That's a classic. Tomatoes,
- 1:05:02Speaker 5: a group.

- 1:05:35Speaker 2: God of Thunder must take on an army of dark
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: elves and zombies as they climbed the walls of a
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: city starring Bradman.
- 1:05:46Speaker 3: That you did say, Batman for the Dark World war
- 1:05:50Speaker 3: Z is indeed good stuff.
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: Peter Parker enlists Doctor Stranger's help as his two dogs

- 1:06:00Speaker 4: Yes, Ordre, Superman, no Way Homeward Spider Man, no Way,
- 1:06:08Speaker 4: homeward Bound.
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: Homeward Bound was the hard part of that. It's still
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: at a rough time.
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: A disagreement of a how to save the world leads
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: two Avengers to fight a tripod based alien invasion into
- 1:06:23Speaker 2: yes Ethan.
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: Uh Captain America's Civil War of the World. Yes Fantastic
- 1:06:29Speaker 3: starring Ice cube. Yes, a mutant cure causes serious repercussions
- 1:06:34Speaker 3: among mutants and humans. As Jane Gray and her friends

- 1:06:39Speaker 3: body based on a novella by Stephen King.
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: Dick wonders, Yes, the Last stand by me.
- 1:06:47Speaker 3: It's the subtitle I'll take your X.
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: A neurosurgeon learns the mystic arts as he starts to
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: hear a voice that narrates his entire life, predicting me,
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: I think it was just Johnny.
- 1:07:03Speaker 3: Yeah, he's good schooting there. Doctors stranger than fiction. It
- 1:07:07Speaker 3: is not a stranger the fiction.
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: Oh my god, my brain.
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: Eddie Brook must take on a xenophage, whatever one of
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: those is, while also becoming a white savior to the
- 1:07:18Speaker 3: Sioux tribe in the Civil War story starring Yes Jason. Then,
- 1:07:23Speaker 3: I'm the Last Dance of the Mohicans. That's not what
- 1:07:26Speaker 3: I've got here? Ship, is it? In the Last Dances
- 1:07:33Speaker 3: with Wolves, Yes.
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: An aging wolverine must defend a young mutant girl while
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: traveling across India liberating it from British occupational rule, starring
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: Sir Ben Kingsley.
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yes, Jason Low Gandhi.
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: I started to sing, Johnny, and I don't know movies.
- 1:07:57Speaker 3: Maybe I'm also not fast enough for this.

- 1:08:10Speaker 3: By Richard Just blade running.
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: It's just blade running. Yeah, okay, quick, before the buzzer.
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: It's all been building to this. The Avengers and every
- 1:08:19Speaker 2: other fucking team of heroes must don yellow jumpsuits and
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: use martial arts in Bruce Lee's incomplete final film.
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: Okay, sho an he did Wonders. Yeah, I kind of
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: Avengers end game? Ah uh? Is it Game of Death?
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: Great stuff?
- 1:08:40Speaker 3: That's the moment?
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: What movie via osmosis.
- 1:08:47Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: See, if I'm given five to ten seconds, I can
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: get these.
- 1:08:54Speaker 3: All right.
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: Before we get to those final scores, I'd like to
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: thank our players. You've all been heroes. Thank you so
- 1:08:59Speaker 2: much for saving the right.
- 1:09:03Speaker 3: Johnny.
- 1:09:04Speaker 2: You have designed and built from the ground up TTPG
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: called Team Up. Yes, kind of inspired. I was doing
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: a model thing tonight.
- 1:09:11Speaker 3: Yeah, awesome. Tell it's awesome that you're doing this. It's synergy,
- 1:09:18Speaker 3: I think, yes, absolutely, Johnny. Why don't you tell everyone
- 1:09:22Speaker 3: in the room and everyone listening at home all about Teama.
- 1:09:25Speaker 5: Sure, yes, Odra and Ethan and both played, and you
- 1:09:28Speaker 5: Matt as well. Sorry he leave me out of it.
- 1:09:32Speaker 5: Matt's also played. So if you guys have anything to add,
- 1:09:34Speaker 5: please do. But Team Up is a superhero tabletop role
- 1:09:38Speaker 5: playing game. If you're familiar with things like Dungeons and
- 1:09:40Speaker 5: Dragons or Pathfinder, et cetera, it is in the vein
- 1:09:44Speaker 5: of those kind of games. We tried to do a
- 1:09:47Speaker 5: lot of things differently. The main two kind of pillars
- 1:09:51Speaker 5: for me as I was working on it. We're number one,
- 1:09:53Speaker 5: you get to create your own power set, so instead
- 1:09:56Speaker 5: of being confronted by a long list of powers or abilities,
- 1:10:00Speaker 5: you just get to make them so you get to
- 1:10:02Speaker 5: be your dream hero, which is really rewarding. And then
- 1:10:05Speaker 5: the other thing was just trying to be true to
- 1:10:08Speaker 5: the genre, which you know, things like D and D
- 1:10:11Speaker 5: are wonderful, but they are for fantasy originally, and they
- 1:10:16Speaker 5: don't quite capture everything for me when I want my
- 1:10:19Speaker 5: full superhero fantasy. So we tried to continue to narrow
- 1:10:24Speaker 5: it down and make it fun, fast, and very superhero.
- 1:10:28Speaker 3: The goal overall was to give that childlike feeling.
- 1:10:34Speaker 5: When you're playing superheroes as a kid, you know, running
- 1:10:37Speaker 5: around in the backyard, I should fire at you, and
- 1:10:40Speaker 5: that kind of thing, just to give that full ability
- 1:10:44Speaker 5: to explore and imagine, but giving some guidelines for the
- 1:10:49Speaker 5: combat obviously.
- 1:10:50Speaker 3: So that's that's team up. It's really fun.
- 1:10:53Speaker 1: You'd be surprised that this doesn't exist already. You'd be surprised.
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: You surprised.
- 1:10:58Speaker 6: I think my favorite part of the game that I've
- 1:11:00Speaker 6: played is is the namesake for the game, the mechanic
- 1:11:03Speaker 6: that you've made called teaming up, where you team up
- 1:11:06Speaker 6: and the power that you made originally and then the
- 1:11:08Speaker 6: power that your friend made can combine in cool ways.
- 1:11:12Speaker 6: It's those moments where you know, Captain America picks up
- 1:11:16Speaker 6: Thor's hammer, or Hawkeye shoots ant Man not an arrow.
- 1:11:20Speaker 6: You know, like these cool team up moments where their
- 1:11:22Speaker 6: powers are working together and synergy and you and your
- 1:11:24Speaker 6: friends are coming up with with cool things and bouncing
- 1:11:27Speaker 6: them around together.
- 1:11:27Speaker 3: It's really fun. Yeah.
- 1:11:28Speaker 4: I think in some games there will be like a
- 1:11:30Speaker 4: time where you pause and you have to look at
- 1:11:32Speaker 4: the sheet and be like, oh, but can I actually
- 1:11:34Speaker 4: do that? Oh, well, this means that I can do
- 1:11:37Speaker 4: X Y Z, and it's like, no, you made the power,
- 1:11:39Speaker 4: and you will roll the diet to determine how strong
- 1:11:42Speaker 4: it is.
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: But you made the power.
- 1:11:43Speaker 4: You know how it works, and so there's not something
- 1:11:46Speaker 4: where you're like, oh, actually I couldn't do that.
- 1:11:49Speaker 7: Can no Pantsman and chill Zilla team up and smoke
- 1:11:52Speaker 7: a fat blunt together?
- 1:11:53Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yes, oh yeah, only in my TTRPGA.
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: It is such a fantastic game. I've had so much
- 1:12:03Speaker 2: fun play testing it over the last several months. It
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: has been fantastic.
- 1:12:07Speaker 3: If you're hear in the room chat to Johnny after
- 1:12:09Speaker 3: the show, it's so easy to get started playing Team Up.
- 1:12:12Speaker 3: It's accessible, it's ready to play, and if you're listening,
- 1:12:16Speaker 3: then check out the link in the show notes where
- 1:12:18Speaker 3: you can get involved straight on the Patreon and the
- 1:12:21Speaker 3: discord of Team Up.
- 1:12:22Speaker 5: Yeah, we just launched the beta version of the game,
- 1:12:25Speaker 5: which is really exciting for us. If you can download

- 1:12:30Speaker 5: We're trying to do weekly game nights and everything. It's
- 1:12:33Speaker 5: really exciting.
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: Yeah, it's super exciting. It's incredible.
- 1:12:36Speaker 4: I can confirm even if you are like I sat
- 1:12:39Speaker 4: through this whole episode of Pandemonium.
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: Superheroes aren't my thing. They can be. They absolutely can
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: be whatever thing you have imagined I have built. I haven't.
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: I haven't told you I have built an influencer.
- 1:12:54Speaker 4: Like because sometimes sometimes superheroes get bad press and it
- 1:12:58Speaker 4: makes things hard for them.
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: And so if you think, oh, I don't really like superheroes,
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: you do?
- 1:13:04Speaker 5: You do.
- 1:13:07Speaker 3: Fantastic? Yeah, check out Team Up. It's it's brilliant.
