- 0:16Speaker 2: Hello, Hello, Hello, Welcome to Trek Cast, the Galaxy's most
- 0:23Speaker 2: unpredictable Star Trek podcast. I'm one of your hosts, Dane Lombardo.
- 0:28Speaker 2: He him white head, omele with me as always, Daniel Rayes.
- 0:34Speaker 2: A hold on, there's only just the two of us,
- 0:38Speaker 2: just only two boxes, just the two of us.
- 0:44Speaker 3: That's right, we finally escaped Scott's pressure.
- 0:47Speaker 2: Ye're Scott. We're finally Scotless.
- 0:50Speaker 3: That's right.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Oh, yes, Scott's feeling a little He's got the phaige today.
- 1:00Speaker 3: It's right, he's got the phige escaped.
- 1:04Speaker 2: No, it's I checked. He's out looking for organs right now.
- 1:09Speaker 3: Okay, so that he needs such a scott thing to do.
- 1:12Speaker 2: He needs a spleen. So if anyone's got a spare
- 1:15Speaker 2: spleen line around, send it Scott's way.
- 1:19Speaker 4: It doesn't have to be human either, whatever, no, whatever, whatever, Yeah,
- 1:30Speaker 4: what's up, homie?
- 1:31Speaker 3: How you feel?
- 1:31Speaker 2: You know?
- 1:32Speaker 3: Uh better? I I got a little bit of a
- 1:36Speaker 3: cold post surgery.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Yeah I hear that.
- 1:39Speaker 3: Yeah yeah yeah.
- 1:40Speaker 4: But the surgery itself went very well better than they expected,
- 1:45Speaker 4: so that's great.
- 1:46Speaker 3: I feel really good.
- 1:47Speaker 4: On that end of it. It's crazy how I can
- 1:50Speaker 4: notice the difference. So U But yeah, I thank you
- 1:55Speaker 4: everyone who who asked about that and was concerned. I'm
- 1:59Speaker 4: doing really, really good. The only thing was that I
- 2:01Speaker 4: just I woke up with a cold from.
- 2:03Speaker 2: From the awesome getting sick at the hospital. Awesome.
- 2:08Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, I will say this.
- 2:11Speaker 4: I did learn why there's a fentanyl problem because they
- 2:14Speaker 4: gave me fentanyl in the back when when.
- 2:16Speaker 3: I was in the surgery. Yeah that that stuff makes
- 2:20Speaker 3: you feel good.
- 2:21Speaker 2: Yeah sure, yeah, you know it works.
- 2:25Speaker 3: It works.
- 2:25Speaker 4: Oh yeah, it works for sure. But yeah, I'm glad
- 2:30Speaker 4: to be out. I'm glad to be amongst the living.
- 2:34Speaker 2: So good. Yeah good?
- 2:36Speaker 3: Yeah, how about you? How was your week?
- 2:38Speaker 2: That was my week? What was? They all blend together.
- 2:42Speaker 3: I know, right, it's all like the same. We go
- 2:45Speaker 3: to work, they all.
- 2:46Speaker 2: Blend together when I need to do this. So, like
- 2:48Speaker 2: three years ago, I bought my daughter a dollhouse Christmas,
- 2:52Speaker 2: like a kit Yeah, and it's been sitting under her
- 2:55Speaker 2: bed for for three years. So last last week I
- 2:59Speaker 2: started than that. So I work on that a couple
- 3:01Speaker 2: hours a night. So that was good. Uh, Thursday night,
- 3:05Speaker 2: I drove three hours to Connecticut to buy someone's toy collection.
- 3:09Speaker 2: Oh wow, so that was nice. So I've been I
- 3:12Speaker 2: spent about three days sorting that. I dingan all the
- 3:16Speaker 2: pieces in that. So spent a whole bunch of money.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Haven't made anything yet because I spent so much time
- 3:22Speaker 2: sorting it.
- 3:24Speaker 3: What kind of stuff is in it?
- 3:27Speaker 2: Star Wars, Star Wars g I Joe's from the eighties,
- 3:35Speaker 2: but also some g I Joe's from the sixties, which
- 3:38Speaker 2: are nice. So the big guys, Yeah, they're they're harder
- 3:42Speaker 2: and harder to come by. Okay, so good stuff.
- 3:46Speaker 3: That's cool.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Good stuff. Yeah, And I think I watched Star Trek
- 3:53Speaker 2: in there somewhere this week. I did. I watched it.
- 3:58Speaker 2: I watched it Thursday. I did not rewind watch it today. Yeah,
- 4:01Speaker 2: I watched it Thursday like I normally, du did not
- 4:03Speaker 2: rewatch it. I'm gonna be honest, You're gonna have to
- 4:08Speaker 2: refresh my memory.
- 4:10Speaker 4: I have notes, all right, Good, because I had questions
- 4:14Speaker 4: and complaints.
- 4:15Speaker 2: Good, all right? Yeah, you know I was I was afraid,
- 4:19Speaker 2: like I didn't prepare. You know, I don't want, you know,
- 4:23Speaker 2: sixty two minutes of dead air. But if you've got notes,
- 4:27Speaker 2: I'm real good at reacting to other people.
- 4:29Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yes, I'm sure you'll be happy with the
- 4:31Speaker 3: notes I have. All right, we'll be good good.
- 4:35Speaker 4: And then we do also have our Star Trek news,
- 4:38Speaker 4: so I guess we should just get into that.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Yeah, Star Trek news. What's up with the Mount? Anything
- 4:47Speaker 2: going on with the Mount?
- 4:48Speaker 3: I mean, the merger continues.
- 4:52Speaker 4: They're they're trying to buy Warner Brothers also, you know,
- 4:56Speaker 4: so that's all just kind.
- 4:58Speaker 3: Of moving along right now or not. There's nothing major
- 5:02Speaker 3: with it yet.
- 5:03Speaker 4: But our first news story comes to us from trekmovie
- 5:06Speaker 4: dot com and Riiker himself. Jonathan Fraakes is talking a
- 5:11Speaker 4: little bit about directing the latest episode of Star Trek
- 5:15Speaker 4: Starfleet Academy. If you didn't know, he directed episode nine,
- 5:20Speaker 4: three hundredth Night, the penultimate episode. He's not doing the finale,
- 5:28Speaker 4: but he did this ninth episode. It was pretty neat
- 5:32Speaker 4: to have him talk about it. He said in the
- 5:35Speaker 4: interview that typically a director will do two episodes, but
- 5:40Speaker 4: he's only doing the ninth one and someone else is
- 5:43Speaker 4: going to do the finale instead. He really enjoyed working
- 5:46Speaker 4: on the series. This might be his last Star Trek
- 5:50Speaker 4: episode directing doesn't look like he's back for season two.
- 5:54Speaker 4: So and officially no new star Trek is in production,
- 6:01Speaker 4: first time in ten years.
- 6:02Speaker 2: Yep.
- 6:03Speaker 3: That kind of hit the internet last week, so we'll see.
- 6:08Speaker 4: He does say in the interview though he is shooting
- 6:10Speaker 4: what is it like the New Big Bang Uh?
- 6:15Speaker 3: A spin off show someone saves the Universe?
- 6:19Speaker 2: I don't know. Yeah, I think it's I can't remember Stewart. Stewart, Yeah,
- 6:24Speaker 2: the comic the guy who owned the comic book store.
- 6:26Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:26Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, So this reminds me of like they just
- 6:32Speaker 2: gathered up all the all the like third tier characters. Yeah,
- 6:37Speaker 2: from that show. You just push them into a room
- 6:39Speaker 2: and they're like, do funny stuff and we're gonna make
- 6:42Speaker 2: it a show.
- 6:43Speaker 3: Yeah, Like people keep watching these, you know, make it happen.
- 6:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:47Speaker 4: So so okay, so he was just talking about that,
- 6:51Speaker 4: you know, good times for him.
- 6:52Speaker 3: Great.
- 6:54Speaker 4: Our next new story comes to us from are you
- 6:57Speaker 4: familiar with the app called Ways?
- 6:59Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 7:00Speaker 1: Yes?
- 7:00Speaker 3: Okay, So do you use it at all?
- 7:03Speaker 2: Or I use Google Maps at drive? But Google bought
- 7:08Speaker 2: Ways a few years ago, so all of the Ways
- 7:10Speaker 2: data is incorporated into Google Maps. Now, okay, so I kind.
- 7:16Speaker 3: Of use Ways, Yeah, kind of Yeah.
- 7:20Speaker 4: Well, apparently in the standalone app ways, you can now
- 7:25Speaker 4: get Robert Riccardo to give you voice directions to places.
- 7:29Speaker 4: So if you go into the settings, there's a Star
- 7:33Speaker 4: Trek banner, you can add Robert Ricardo's voice and the
- 7:36Speaker 4: doctor can tell you turn right, turn left, you overshot it,
- 7:40Speaker 4: you know, recalibrating. Yeah, yeah, I thought that was fun. Yeah,
- 7:50Speaker 4: people like that, So there you go. I'm kind of
- 7:55Speaker 4: just kind of going through these. Our next news story
- 7:57Speaker 4: comes from from text crunch dot com and I don't
- 8:00Speaker 4: know if you know this, but William Shatner wants you
- 8:03Speaker 4: to know that X is gonna give it to you
- 8:05Speaker 4: because William Shatner is helping X formerly Twitter launch their
- 8:11Speaker 4: new X Money payments. So this is basically their version
- 8:16Speaker 4: of like a cash app or a Venmo or a
- 8:19Speaker 4: PayPal that you can do financial transactions through X Twitter.
- 8:27Speaker 3: Because you know, yeah, I.
- 8:30Speaker 2: Was just thinking we need another one of those.
- 8:32Speaker 3: Well yeah, you.
- 8:35Speaker 2: Know, I I do a lot of I do a
- 8:38Speaker 2: lot of online yeah, sales. Yeah, And it used to
- 8:43Speaker 2: be like PayPal was the standard, you know, and more
- 8:47Speaker 2: and more people are like, oh do you have do
- 8:48Speaker 2: you have zel? Do you have cash app? Do you
- 8:52Speaker 2: have Venmo? Do you have Apple Pay? It's like, man,
- 8:56Speaker 2: I don't because who else got time for all that?
- 8:59Speaker 3: Right? Yeah?
- 9:01Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 9:01Speaker 4: So you know, if you don't already trust the person
- 9:05Speaker 4: that you're communicating with on Twitter that they're a real person,
- 9:09Speaker 4: now you can give them real money.
- 9:10Speaker 3: So great.
- 9:12Speaker 4: Yeah, I guess they're launching it in an interesting way.
- 9:17Speaker 4: William Shatner has got a charity for for our our veterans,
- 9:22Speaker 4: and so if you donate to that charity, then you
- 9:27Speaker 4: might potentially get an invite into x money because right
- 9:32Speaker 4: now it's just in data, not everyone has access to it.
- 9:36Speaker 4: So that's how they're getting Shatner to help launch the
- 9:40Speaker 4: new service. So so there you go. So if you're
- 9:44Speaker 4: interested in that, yeah, cool. Yeah, and then.
- 9:49Speaker 2: You can help Captain Kirk launch his cashless society. Got right.
- 9:56Speaker 4: Our last news story because Scott's not here and he
- 9:59Speaker 4: can't stop me. So we're gonna a fourth story comes
- 10:01Speaker 4: to a Hollywood reporter, and I think a lot of
- 10:04Speaker 4: people are very happy to hear about this news. I know, Dan,
- 10:07Speaker 4: you were seth McFarland teases new life into the Orville.
- 10:13Speaker 3: Yes, season four is written.
- 10:16Speaker 4: So so does so let it be done, you know,
- 10:21Speaker 4: but my uh, I don't know.
- 10:23Speaker 2: If remember my reaction to this article was yay the
- 10:26Speaker 2: return of Star Trek.
- 10:28Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, so yeah, So we don't have a date
- 10:34Speaker 4: as to when they're going to be shooting this. The
- 10:36Speaker 4: big problem continues to be something Farland's schedule. He's so
- 10:40Speaker 4: busy with so many things. Yeah, you know, who knows.
- 10:44Speaker 4: Another thing is apparently he writes the scripts, you know,
- 10:48Speaker 4: So that's also what takes forever. It's him getting the
- 10:52Speaker 4: time to write him so well.
- 10:55Speaker 2: You know, one thing I have to say about this
- 10:59Speaker 2: show for him anyway, it's fun. It's fun for him.
- 11:06Speaker 2: He gets to pretend to be a Starship captain, which
- 11:09Speaker 2: if you know anything about him, you know he was
- 11:13Speaker 2: making excuse me, he was making Star Trek fan films
- 11:17Speaker 2: in his garage with his friends when he was twelve
- 11:20Speaker 2: years old. So in the back of my mind, I
- 11:25Speaker 2: always feel like he's gonna come back to it at
- 11:28Speaker 2: some point, because even though he is crazy busy with
- 11:32Speaker 2: all these other things, right, you need a break every
- 11:36Speaker 2: now and then, and you need to do something that
- 11:38Speaker 2: you enjoy. I'm not saying he doesn't enjoy the other shows,
- 11:41Speaker 2: but I feel like he must enjoy this one a
- 11:44Speaker 2: little more.
- 11:45Speaker 3: It seems more like the Passion Project for sure.
- 11:47Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:48Speaker 3: Yeah, So hopefully he's able to do it.
- 11:51Speaker 4: But you know, even if they shot tomorrow, right, that's
- 11:57Speaker 4: a year away from us actually seeing it at least. Yeah,
- 12:00Speaker 4: so not anytime soon, guys.
- 12:03Speaker 2: And if we get one or two seasons every four years,
- 12:07Speaker 2: I'm okay with that, yeah, because it's quality stuff.
- 12:11Speaker 4: Yeah, it's really good. It'll be interesting what they do.
- 12:16Speaker 4: Uh what was the name of the the of the
- 12:19Speaker 4: like slime creature? That was Norm McDonald but Nor McDonald
- 12:24Speaker 4: has since passed away.
- 12:25Speaker 2: Oh I can't remember. Yeah, I think yeah, I think
- 12:30Speaker 2: it was.
- 12:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:32Speaker 4: So I don't know if they'll get a new voice
- 12:34Speaker 4: or just he's not on the show anymore, you.
- 12:36Speaker 2: Know, Yeah, I don't know. Yeah.
- 12:39Speaker 4: Maybe maybe they say he ate something and that changed
- 12:41Speaker 4: his voice.
- 12:42Speaker 2: I don't or we'll get Seth McFarlane's Norm McDonald impression,
- 12:48Speaker 2: because he takes a million impressions, so those a million voices.
- 12:52Speaker 3: There go there you go. Well, all right, well that's
- 12:55Speaker 3: all the news stories.
- 12:56Speaker 2: Yeah cool?
- 12:57Speaker 3: Cool?
- 13:00Speaker 4: Right, Well, uh, shall we get to our main topic.
- 13:03Speaker 4: We have two episodes to review since Oh yeah.
- 13:07Speaker 2: Well yeah, yeah, yeah, two of them, two of them.
- 13:13Speaker 3: Let's go fun. Well now comment.
- 13:20Speaker 4: All right, so we have two Starfleet Academy episodes to
- 13:25Speaker 4: go over, episodes eight and nine. I'm trying to see
- 13:29Speaker 4: if I can find out the names of the episodes.
- 13:32Speaker 4: Let's see, try to look up the Wikipedia. Okay, so
- 13:37Speaker 4: episode eight was called Life the Life of the Stars. Uh,
- 13:41Speaker 4: this is the one that brought back Tilly. She was
- 13:45Speaker 4: brought back to help the cadets do therapy and get
- 13:49Speaker 4: over their recent tragedy at the what was that.
- 13:53Speaker 2: The the the Kawasaki, Yeah, the Kawasaki Yasaki.
- 13:59Speaker 3: Yeah. And uh and so they're, you know, just process
- 14:02Speaker 3: that grief. They did lose a friend.
- 14:05Speaker 4: So so, you know, they wanted it to go through
- 14:09Speaker 4: all that. We also learned that Sam was still glitching
- 14:12Speaker 4: out and it was becoming a big problem. I think
- 14:16Speaker 4: they even said fatal for Sam. And so, uh, the
- 14:21Speaker 4: captain and the doctor had to take Sam to her
- 14:24Speaker 4: home planet.
- 14:26Speaker 3: It wasn't even the whole plant.
- 14:27Speaker 2: Like cask costs.
- 14:29Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, so.
- 14:31Speaker 4: They had to take her there and get her repaired. Basically,
- 14:36Speaker 4: it was an interesting episode, pretty divisive among the fan group.
- 14:41Speaker 4: Some people really loved it, Uh, there's the very meta
- 14:45Speaker 4: uh insertion from Tilly where she basically just straight up
- 14:49Speaker 4: tells fans that don't like this episode, screw you. I'm
- 14:53Speaker 4: having a good time, which fair enough, but you know, uh,
- 14:59Speaker 4: it was based on a play called our Town, very
- 15:04Speaker 4: famous play. So yeah, I was not my favorite episode.
- 15:12Speaker 4: I did have some issues. Yep, I think one of
- 15:16Speaker 4: my first ones that kind of threw me for a loop.
- 15:19Speaker 4: And maybe maybe I'm wrong on this, so if I am,
- 15:22Speaker 4: let me know. But Tilly from the very beginning says
- 15:27Speaker 4: that she was working with the third year students. Yes,
- 15:31Speaker 4: but wasn't the whole premise of this show. Yeah, that
- 15:34Speaker 4: the academy was just now starting up again after one
- 15:37Speaker 4: hundred years.
- 15:38Speaker 2: Makes no sense.
- 15:39Speaker 3: Yeah, makes no.
- 15:41Speaker 4: Sense that that was interesting to me. Another thing is
- 15:48Speaker 4: when Tilly is first introduced in Discovery, right, because she's
- 15:51Speaker 4: a legacy character.
- 15:52Speaker 3: At this point, she is.
- 15:54Speaker 4: Known as a theoretical engineer, that she works in the
- 15:57Speaker 4: engineering department right with Stammards. But they brought her back
- 16:03Speaker 4: in as therapist. Is that she get a course change,
- 16:11Speaker 4: you know, a career path change.
- 16:12Speaker 3: Or we are we doing something different?
- 16:18Speaker 2: I don't know, Yeah, I don't know. Yeah, I don't
- 16:25Speaker 2: know it. Yeah, I don't know. We want to bring
- 16:27Speaker 2: Tilly back. How do we do it? We can have
- 16:31Speaker 2: the kids work on mushrooms with her. Now, let's do
- 16:36Speaker 2: a play. Yeah, okay, how do we make it make sense?
- 16:41Speaker 2: I don't know. They just have them do a play.
- 16:45Speaker 2: It makes those sense. It makes absolutely those sense.
- 16:48Speaker 3: It doesn't, It really doesn't.
- 16:49Speaker 2: It would have been it would have made more sense
- 16:51Speaker 2: to have what's his name, Culver, the doctor from Discovery?
- 16:58Speaker 2: Was that his name?
- 16:59Speaker 3: Culver? Yeah?
- 17:00Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, would have made more sense to have him there.
- 17:05Speaker 2: He's at least a doctor, he's dealt with an incredible
- 17:09Speaker 2: amount of loss, he's cross trained as a as a
- 17:15Speaker 2: therapist they mentioned in past episodes.
- 17:19Speaker 4: You're right, that would have been a much at least thematically.
- 17:22Speaker 4: It would have been a better character for that role.
- 17:25Speaker 2: Yeah, yep, yeah, And if you want her there, fine,
- 17:29Speaker 2: you know they're they're they're traveling together for some reason
- 17:35Speaker 2: and they end up at the Academy and I don't know, yeah, yeah,
- 17:42Speaker 2: this morning.
- 17:45Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah.
- 17:48Speaker 4: Another thing I thought, which was the placement of the episode,
- 17:53Speaker 4: so we had the Miyazaki what was that episode?
- 18:00Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 18:00Speaker 3: Episode five? I think, yeah, No, six, episode six.
- 18:05Speaker 2: Yeah, there was something in between these two episodes.
- 18:08Speaker 3: We had the spring spring Breaking episode design.
- 18:11Speaker 4: Yes, yeah, so if we're doing from the dealing with
- 18:16Speaker 4: the repercussions of the Miyazaki and we're talking about how
- 18:20Speaker 4: we're so emotionally in turmoil this episode have been there,
- 18:25Speaker 4: then you do the the fun spring break episode.
- 18:28Speaker 2: Yeah, yep, it's.
- 18:29Speaker 3: Right before you get into your for now, you know.
- 18:32Speaker 2: Yeah, yep. So Picard got assimilated by the borg best
- 18:36Speaker 2: of both worlds. The very next episode of TNG he
- 18:43Speaker 2: goes back to France, and it's because of the best
- 18:50Speaker 2: of both worlds. It's because he's got a process all
- 18:55Speaker 2: of that pain. It would it would be like them
- 18:58Speaker 2: doing the vosh uh Riisa episode in between those two.
- 19:04Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, it just doesn't vit. The thing is, like,
- 19:10Speaker 4: all you had to do is flip them and it
- 19:12Speaker 4: would have made a little bit more since it's you know, yeah,
- 19:16Speaker 4: just weird choices. Yeah. Are you familiar with that play?
- 19:21Speaker 4: Have you ever watched it or read it?
- 19:25Speaker 2: I am familiar with it, Like they you know, they
- 19:28Speaker 2: mentioned our town. I immediately knew what it was. But honestly,
- 19:32Speaker 2: I haven't read it or seen it in probably thirty
- 19:37Speaker 2: five years, so I don't. I don't remember it.
- 19:41Speaker 4: I never read it or or or watched it in
- 19:44Speaker 4: school at all. Yeah, you know, but i'd be interested,
- 19:50Speaker 4: you know, Yeah, sure, why not?
- 19:54Speaker 3: But yeah, I don't know. There's a there's a.
- 20:00Speaker 4: Lot of other problems people had with it. People felt
- 20:03Speaker 4: it was condescending episode. People felt that, you know, the
- 20:06Speaker 4: characters are out of place.
- 20:08Speaker 3: You know, the whole issue.
- 20:10Speaker 4: With Sam needing a childhood to be more resilient in everything.
- 20:19Speaker 4: I like, I get a lot of people really loved
- 20:22Speaker 4: what they did with a doctor, and that guy acted
- 20:24Speaker 4: his ass off trying to make that work.
- 20:27Speaker 2: So I have a bit of a problem at that. Yeah,
- 20:32Speaker 2: excuse me. He had a holographic family eight hundred years ago,
- 20:38Speaker 2: and because of that, he doesn't want to be anybody's
- 20:41Speaker 2: mentor ever again, because because he lost he lost his daughter,
- 20:46Speaker 2: right am I remembering that that saying, yeah, okay, not
- 20:52Speaker 2: not to take a ship on the doctor's holographic family.
- 20:56Speaker 2: But he had that family for like two weeks. Right
- 21:02Speaker 2: when his holographic daughter passed away, he still had a
- 21:07Speaker 2: holographic wife, and he still had a holographic son, and
- 21:12Speaker 2: we never saw them again. He did not continue to
- 21:19Speaker 2: ah visit them. He did not continue to have this
- 21:23Speaker 2: life with them. He pretty much forgot about them, and
- 21:27Speaker 2: so did all of us. Not to say that there
- 21:31Speaker 2: isn't he he wouldn't feel a loss there, but he's
- 21:40Speaker 2: mentored other people. Yeah. He mentored Kess and he lost
- 21:45Speaker 2: and he lost her.
- 21:46Speaker 3: Seven nine.
- 21:47Speaker 2: He mentored seven of nine and he lost her. Yeah.
- 21:55Speaker 2: Captain Janeway gone, she's dead, dead, seven hundred years. Yeah,
- 22:00Speaker 2: at this point, Chacota, Tom Neelix, Harry, all of them,
- 22:07Speaker 2: all of them, everyone that he's ever known is dead.
- 22:13Speaker 2: Everyone that was on that ship with him is is dead,
- 22:18Speaker 2: and he had much more experience with them. Right, So
- 22:28Speaker 2: I feel like them pulling this member Barry of he
- 22:33Speaker 2: had a daughter once.
- 22:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know how.
- 22:39Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't feel that that character is as significant
- 22:43Speaker 2: as all of these tons of other characters that we
- 22:46Speaker 2: that we have seen, Reginald Barkley, doctor Zimmerman.
- 22:51Speaker 4: Dead well, whether or not the significance of his daughter
- 22:56Speaker 4: to him, right, it's it's the fact that he has
- 22:59Speaker 4: dealt with the is and should be more emotionally intelligent
- 23:04Speaker 4: to handle that.
- 23:05Speaker 2: Right.
- 23:07Speaker 4: The other thing, too, for me, was the the makers,
- 23:12Speaker 4: the ones who created Sam. Yeah, they they acted completely
- 23:17Speaker 4: different than how they acted in the DS nine episode.
- 23:22Speaker 3: In the d S nine episode, they were jerks to her.
- 23:25Speaker 2: Well, hold on a minute. So I think and I
- 23:28Speaker 2: saw a lot about this, and I think people are confusing.
- 23:33Speaker 2: I don't think it was the same entities that she
- 23:36Speaker 2: was interesting. The ones from the Deep Spased nine episodes,
- 23:40Speaker 2: those were the Those were the like the people from
- 23:45Speaker 2: Cask who sent her to Starfleet Academy. These this episode,
- 23:51Speaker 2: these are the people from CASK that made her, And
- 23:54Speaker 2: they're not the same people it was, you know, the
- 23:59Speaker 2: govern Okay, the government. It needs an agent to yea, yeah,
- 24:02Speaker 2: to send to Starfleet Academy. So they go to the
- 24:06Speaker 2: scientists and say, create us an agent to send to
- 24:09Speaker 2: Starfleet Academy. So it's two different organizations.
- 24:14Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, okay, at.
- 24:16Speaker 4: Least that's how I and their voices were different. So, right,
- 24:19Speaker 4: the voices were different.
- 24:21Speaker 2: I think that might have been a choice on the
- 24:22Speaker 2: part of the of the producers to try and show
- 24:27Speaker 2: this is not the same people we saw three weeks ago.
- 24:30Speaker 4: Well then I wish that was a little clearer because
- 24:31Speaker 4: I was confused by it. I was like, these people
- 24:33Speaker 4: are like completely different yeah, that could have been clearer.
- 24:40Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean they could have. All it would have
- 24:42Speaker 2: taken was a line like you know, six weeks ago,
- 24:45Speaker 2: I visited the elders and they said blah blah blah
- 24:47Speaker 2: blah blah. You know, you do something like that, and
- 24:50Speaker 2: now the viewer immediately knows, Okay, this is not the
- 24:52Speaker 2: same people from.
- 24:53Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's all I yeah, it's a
- 24:56Speaker 4: little thing like that. I do agree with you that
- 25:01Speaker 4: the doctor, the way they handled his turmoil could have
- 25:05Speaker 4: been better. I I I very clearly. We see what
- 25:12Speaker 4: they're trying to get at, right, that he's so emotionally broken.
- 25:15Speaker 3: And all that, but his it rings hollow like we'd said.
- 25:23Speaker 4: Sorry, I'm just kind of thinking of living it all
- 25:26Speaker 4: in my head and thinking like, okay, yeah, how do
- 25:29Speaker 4: we how do we handle this?
- 25:32Speaker 3: It also likes me.
- 25:33Speaker 4: It frustrates me for previous episodes because you had opportunities
- 25:37Speaker 4: to show that he was uncomfortable with her.
- 25:40Speaker 3: He did it once and that was it.
- 25:42Speaker 2: Right.
- 25:42Speaker 4: Yeah, they could have done a thing where she constantly
- 25:46Speaker 4: looks for him and he keeps just shutting her down.
- 25:49Speaker 4: So then that way when he when he doesn't hold
- 25:51Speaker 4: her hand, when he doesn't you know, want to be there.
- 25:55Speaker 4: There's more to it, right, there's more weight. We've seen it.
- 26:00Speaker 4: I just think little things like that just show missed
- 26:02Speaker 4: opportunities to make it resonate.
- 26:05Speaker 2: Yeah. Also, you know, if you don't want to be
- 26:10Speaker 2: anyone's mentor ever again, but you work out a school.
- 26:15Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, yeah, come on yeah, yeah.
- 26:21Speaker 2: That just doesn't make any sense.
- 26:24Speaker 4: You've been you've been in Starfleet for nine hundred years.
- 26:26Speaker 4: You could you could request a different post. Yeah, you
- 26:29Speaker 4: know it's fretly yeah.
- 26:33Speaker 3: Or retire and just do whatever the hell you want,
- 26:35Speaker 3: you know, you.
- 26:36Speaker 2: Know, And and I'm also okay, they keep throwing out
- 26:39Speaker 2: these member berries and it's like they're telling us, hey,
- 26:46Speaker 2: we remember these other shows. They they count, but then
- 26:53Speaker 2: there's significant things from those other shows that they just
- 26:56Speaker 2: ignore and never never touch on at all. You know,
- 27:03Speaker 2: he's got I don't remember how many, but he's he's
- 27:06Speaker 2: got one hundred and fifty brothers and sisters that the
- 27:11Speaker 2: last the last time we saw them, they were on
- 27:14Speaker 2: a mining colony or something, scrubbing godwits or or you
- 27:20Speaker 2: know what happened to them? Yeah, what happened to them?
- 27:24Speaker 2: Where are Yeah?
- 27:27Speaker 3: I don't he forgot to show the pictures as we're talking,
- 27:30Speaker 3: but and.
- 27:31Speaker 2: This, and and see. Okay, so this is how you know,
- 27:36Speaker 2: if they sat around, Yeah, if they just if they
- 27:40Speaker 2: just sat around. So in this episode, the makers mentioned
- 27:48Speaker 2: the fact that after she lives this childhood, she won't
- 27:51Speaker 2: be the same. She will have two sets of memories. Right,
- 27:57Speaker 2: this would be the perfect, perfect opportunity for them to
- 28:03Speaker 2: cover what I just talked about. With his one hundred
- 28:06Speaker 2: and fifty brothers and sisters. He could have told the
- 28:09Speaker 2: story about how he when he got back from the
- 28:12Speaker 2: Delta Quadrant, he fought a legal battle for them, and
- 28:19Speaker 2: the compromise was, you know, they didn't just set these
- 28:23Speaker 2: these holograms free. The compromise was their hollow mat matrices.
- 28:29Speaker 2: Is that how he's saying? Okay, their hollow matrices were
- 28:33Speaker 2: merged with his Yeah, so he has the memories of
- 28:38Speaker 2: one hundred and fifty other holograms who basically were slaves
- 28:44Speaker 2: for six years. Yeah, and that has also shaped his
- 28:49Speaker 2: his psyche. And that's why he's a little different than
- 28:53Speaker 2: the doctor we knew for for seven years. God damn it.
- 28:56Speaker 2: If they would just sit around and talk to each
- 28:58Speaker 2: other before they write these shows.
- 29:00Speaker 4: Well, and it could have even been when he's talking
- 29:03Speaker 4: to the makers, like, look, I get your apprehension with
- 29:06Speaker 4: organics because of the yigration. You know, they treated us
- 29:11Speaker 4: bad too.
- 29:12Speaker 2: Yep.
- 29:12Speaker 4: I was, you know, hundreds of years ago, and they
- 29:15Speaker 4: have evolved and they're you know this, they're that, you know,
- 29:17Speaker 4: So it's just it frustrates me because they have the
- 29:21Speaker 4: opportunities they lay them there yea, and they just it's
- 29:24Speaker 4: like it's just right there man.
- 29:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 29:29Speaker 2: The oh yeah.
- 29:32Speaker 4: The other note I had on this episode is when
- 29:34Speaker 4: Tillie looks at Sam and goes, you're my favorite. Yeah, Like,
- 29:38Speaker 4: what did a teacher do that at a military academy?
- 29:41Speaker 4: You know, I don't imagine a drill sergeant's gonna look
- 29:44Speaker 4: at her new recruit and be like no favorite.
- 29:47Speaker 2: Noe, Nope.
- 29:48Speaker 3: But whatever.
- 29:52Speaker 4: Yeah, we should probably get to the next episode two
- 29:54Speaker 4: because you got so many.
- 29:57Speaker 3: All right.
- 29:59Speaker 4: The next episode was called three hundredth Night, and basically
- 30:03Speaker 4: it's the end of the school, your kids, We're done.
- 30:05Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, we've seen eight days with these people, but
- 30:10Speaker 2: you know it's three hundred days later.
- 30:13Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean we we had to spring break two
- 30:15Speaker 4: days ago, you know, and now we're done.
- 30:18Speaker 2: I guess these short seasons they you know, when a
- 30:23Speaker 2: show had twenty six episodes, Yeah, whether that show was
- 30:27Speaker 2: was Star Trek, Law and Order, or you know Roseanne,
- 30:32Speaker 2: it when it had twenty six episodes, you saw the
- 30:37Speaker 2: passage of time. You felt the passage of time because
- 30:41Speaker 2: in the beginning of the season, it's usually you know,
- 30:46Speaker 2: the first week of school, and like the third episode
- 30:49Speaker 2: is usually a Halloween or a Thanksgiving themed episode. There's
- 30:54Speaker 2: a Christmas or a New Year's themed episode. And you
- 30:56Speaker 2: actually felt the progressive when it's snowing outside your house,
- 31:00Speaker 2: it's snowing on the show. They don't do that anywhere.
- 31:04Speaker 2: And I know this is like a this is Star
- 31:06Speaker 2: Trek and they're an outer space and whatnot. You're not
- 31:08Speaker 2: going to see the weather and the holidays and whatnot.
- 31:11Speaker 2: But I don't feel the passage of time. This is
- 31:15Speaker 2: the end of the school year, and I feel like
- 31:17Speaker 2: they reported for day one last week.
- 31:21Speaker 3: Well, they grew up so fast, That's that's what it is.
- 31:29Speaker 3: Donnie says. Side note, why hire a bridge croof You
- 31:32Speaker 3: never see them on the bridge? Yeah, yeah, you know.
- 31:36Speaker 3: Becky Lynch is too busy fighting in the WWE.
- 31:39Speaker 4: Sooo she's one of the characters that they have on
- 31:44Speaker 4: the Bridge Crew.
- 31:44Speaker 2: Oh okay, So.
- 31:47Speaker 4: Basically in this episode, it's the end of the academic year,
- 31:51Speaker 4: our main cast performs a kling On ritual calling themselves
- 31:56Speaker 4: a chosen family. I don't know if you remember that part.
- 31:59Speaker 4: They all were in the room freaking out of the bowl.
- 32:02Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, our non traditional Klingon doing all the traditional
- 32:05Speaker 2: click on.
- 32:06Speaker 4: Stuff exactly, yes, yes, yes, uh, and so they all
- 32:12Speaker 4: kind of are are happy to be a family.
- 32:15Speaker 3: And then finally what's his name?
- 32:18Speaker 4: Mer Caleb Muir remembers, Oh, yeah, I had this special
- 32:23Speaker 4: secret code with my mom. Maybe I should try that signal.
- 32:27Speaker 4: Oh look at that she's been messaging me. Yeah, so
- 32:31Speaker 4: okay whatever, and uh so he decides he's gonna go
- 32:36Speaker 4: find his mom finally, and uh and so they find her.
- 32:42Speaker 3: They they take off in her shuttle, and and uh.
- 32:47Speaker 2: What is it?
- 32:47Speaker 4: They kind of like, well, they steal a shuttle because yeah,
- 32:51Speaker 4: they Starfleet is going to deaf Con three because Sarah's
- 32:56Speaker 4: stole the Omega thirteen.
- 32:58Speaker 3: Right, and yeah the Omega forty two or whatever.
- 33:03Speaker 2: Yeah that was my Galaxy quest Sarah, Sarah. Yeah, anyway, it's.
- 33:13Speaker 4: It's The frustration I had with this is once again
- 33:19Speaker 4: Starfleet is made to look in competent, right that it
- 33:23Speaker 4: took them. They flat out say it took them weeks
- 33:26Speaker 4: or months to figure out that these space.
- 33:29Speaker 3: Nukes were missing.
- 33:31Speaker 4: Yeah, like they didn't know, like, hey, one of our
- 33:34Speaker 4: most like top secret weapons is just gone. Yeah, much
- 33:38Speaker 4: less the amount of them, because eventually they create a
- 33:43Speaker 4: whole wall around the Federation with these things.
- 33:48Speaker 2: How many of these things did they steal?
- 33:50Speaker 4: They never gave a number, but they they surrounded the
- 33:53Speaker 4: entire Federation with them, cutting off the Federation from everyone else.
- 33:58Speaker 4: So that's like one hundreds of light years thousands, I
- 34:02Speaker 4: don't know what the official number is, but to cover
- 34:06Speaker 4: that much ground, yeah, you would need so many of
- 34:09Speaker 4: these things. And they're just like, oh it took some
- 34:13Speaker 4: once to figure this out. Well what the hell?
- 34:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 34:21Speaker 4: So yeah, so the kids steals the shuttle craft they
- 34:24Speaker 4: go to find the mom. While all that's happening, the
- 34:30Speaker 4: Chancellor she figures out that the shuttle's gone, and she's like, oh,
- 34:33Speaker 4: I got to go save my kids, And she's reminded, hey,
- 34:37Speaker 4: we've been ordered to stay here near Beta's head to help,
- 34:41Speaker 4: you know, defend beta's head, and then she's flat out
- 34:44Speaker 4: just says, well, the admiral knows I couldn't follow that order.
- 34:47Speaker 3: I gotta go save my kids. And she takes off, and.
- 34:51Speaker 2: Uh, nobody follows orders. The kids don't follow orders. They
- 34:55Speaker 2: steal a shuttle, the captain doesn't follow orders. She steals
- 34:57Speaker 2: a ship.
- 35:00Speaker 3: Yeah, nobody cares.
- 35:02Speaker 2: It's stupid. It's all stupid. Yeah, thinking back to the
- 35:08Speaker 2: first episode, Uh, wasn't near's mom, wasn't wasn't there dream
- 35:16Speaker 2: to go to Earth together someday?
- 35:18Speaker 4: He mentions that in one of the episodes, to try food,
- 35:22Speaker 4: and that's how he'd been storing food under his bed.
- 35:25Speaker 2: Yeah, but I think they mentioned it in the first episode.
- 35:27Speaker 2: I think she said to him, we'll go there someday. Yeah. Yeah,
- 35:33Speaker 2: you know he lives there now. Yeah, take her home
- 35:36Speaker 2: with you, get it. I I don't know when he
- 35:46Speaker 2: finds her, they have the reunion, the cadets walk in.
- 35:51Speaker 2: He's immediately lying to.
- 35:52Speaker 3: His mom, Yeah, why.
- 35:57Speaker 2: Why this is your mom? These are your friends, mom,
- 36:02Speaker 2: I'm in Starfleet Academy. I'm a cadet. These are my shipmates.
- 36:09Speaker 2: We came here to rescue you. Yeah, we have a
- 36:12Speaker 2: ship we'll be safe on Earth. Let's go.
- 36:17Speaker 4: Well, the idea is she hates the Federation that much,
- 36:21Speaker 4: then why does she want to go to Earth someday?
- 36:23Speaker 2: Right?
- 36:26Speaker 3: Right, it's.
- 36:31Speaker 4: And even even if you hate it that much, they
- 36:33Speaker 4: just reunited you with your son. Yeah, there's something good,
- 36:38Speaker 4: you know. So yep, I I one hundred percent believe
- 36:51Speaker 4: they're going to reveal that she had something to do
- 36:53Speaker 4: with the space bombs, that she created them or something
- 36:56Speaker 4: like that, because she says I can fix anything.
- 36:58Speaker 2: She's not a good Guy's not guy.
- 37:00Speaker 4: Yeah, there'll be something there and he'll have to he'll
- 37:04Speaker 4: have to pick between his biological mom or his new
- 37:07Speaker 4: space mom.
- 37:08Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 37:12Speaker 4: Man, what one of the things I kept thinking about,
- 37:15Speaker 4: especially at the end of the episode when they're showing
- 37:18Speaker 4: that the Athena is now separated between the Federation because
- 37:22Speaker 4: of the wall and everything. I thought they should have
- 37:26Speaker 4: left the Athena on the other side still with the
- 37:29Speaker 4: other ships, right, and all you had is the shuttle
- 37:33Speaker 4: craft with the kids. I would have brought over the
- 37:35Speaker 4: girlfriend who the bit is a girlfriend, manimax, because then
- 37:43Speaker 4: you could already do off of what you've shown is
- 37:45Speaker 4: that she can communicate telepathically. Right, So even though they
- 37:49Speaker 4: can't communicate through calms, she can work with them and
- 37:54Speaker 4: coordinate to help get rid of the minefield.
- 37:58Speaker 2: So is it a minefield or is it a force field?
- 38:02Speaker 3: It's it's like a minefield, is what they said.
- 38:06Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, but.
- 38:11Speaker 3: I don't know. I I feel like it would have
- 38:13Speaker 3: been more.
- 38:15Speaker 4: More danger if it's the the kids are alone, they've
- 38:18Speaker 4: got to handle this themselves, as opposed to they have
- 38:22Speaker 4: access to a starship, and the starships can help, you know.
- 38:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know.
- 38:29Speaker 3: Yeah, let's see what else.
- 38:41Speaker 4: Yeah, I kind of felt like this episode was slow.
- 38:44Speaker 4: I know, it's building up for the finale. I I
- 38:48Speaker 4: imagine the finale is gonna end on a giant cliffhanger,
- 38:51Speaker 4: you know.
- 38:53Speaker 2: So, but we got we got to see glitter puke again.
- 38:58Speaker 4: So that's that was Yeah, that's you know, thank god.
- 39:06Speaker 3: Yeah, what's his name? Nuts Ruca Rucca.
- 39:14Speaker 4: I imagine he will be chewing up all the scenery
- 39:17Speaker 4: next episode.
- 39:23Speaker 2: What do you think his.
- 39:24Speaker 3: Plan is here? Just to like cut off the Federation
- 39:26Speaker 3: and and that's it.
- 39:28Speaker 2: Like, I don't know, I'm still fuzzy on like, how
- 39:35Speaker 2: is this guy a threat? Yeah? This guy was sitting
- 39:38Speaker 2: in prison for how many years? But you know he
- 39:44Speaker 2: also runs an empire that rivals the United Federation of Planets.
- 39:51Speaker 2: I don't get it. Yeah, I don't get it. I
- 39:56Speaker 2: don't know.
- 39:57Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 39:58Speaker 4: And on the map they showed the Kardassian Empire was
- 40:01Speaker 4: there too, and it was pretty big. So like, do
- 40:05Speaker 4: they not get along with the Federation or.
- 40:06Speaker 3: Do they do they they can help or they?
- 40:10Speaker 2: Yeah, who knows? New Sprockets did nothing wrong. There should
- 40:17Speaker 2: be statues to him all over.
- 40:21Speaker 3: He built a wall and got the Federation to pay
- 40:24Speaker 3: for it. Yeah, you know, at least there's that.
- 40:33Speaker 2: Yeah, so yeah, I don't know.
- 40:39Speaker 4: Yeah, it's just it's frustrating because like just little fixes
- 40:44Speaker 4: and it would have been more coherent, more interesting.
- 40:51Speaker 3: But yeah, I don't know.
- 40:56Speaker 4: What do you predict for the for the finale? Uh m,
- 41:01Speaker 4: are we gonna get a burn?
- 41:02Speaker 3: Two point?
- 41:03Speaker 2: Oh? No? I don't think we're gonna get the burn
- 41:05Speaker 2: two point oh. I think I think Mom is not
- 41:12Speaker 2: not an angel mm hmm. Like you said, I think
- 41:17Speaker 2: he's gonna have to choose between Mom and uh and
- 41:21Speaker 2: space Mom. And he's either gonna choose Space Mom or
- 41:26Speaker 2: Mom's gonna sacrifice herself or something.
- 41:29Speaker 3: Something like that.
- 41:31Speaker 2: I don't think she's I don't think she's gonna live
- 41:34Speaker 2: out live past the next episode or or the conclusion
- 41:38Speaker 2: next season, if it's if it's a cliffhanger.
- 41:44Speaker 4: I I did like this one episode though, that they
- 41:46Speaker 4: finally figured out Oh yes, Sam is a hologram. She
- 41:49Speaker 4: can just pop in and out of places, like they
- 41:53Speaker 4: just figured that out.
- 41:58Speaker 2: But they still haven't. Yeah, they still haven't shown us
- 42:06Speaker 2: how she works. Or the doctor. I mean, is he
- 42:10Speaker 2: still wearing his mobile emitter? Does he have an updated
- 42:13Speaker 2: mobile emitter? We talked about this a few weeks ago.
- 42:15Speaker 2: Are there are there holographic emitters all over the academy?
- 42:22Speaker 2: I mean she goes wherever she went to a bar
- 42:25Speaker 2: she went to there on an alien planet, if there,
- 42:31Speaker 2: if there are mobile if there are holographic emitters on
- 42:34Speaker 2: this planet, why would she and her program have access
- 42:40Speaker 2: to that system. Yeah, that doesn't make any sense, which
- 42:44Speaker 2: means she has to have some sort of self contained emitter,
- 42:49Speaker 2: which means even though she's a hologram, there is some
- 42:54Speaker 2: part of her that's physical. Her program needs to resigne somewhere,
- 43:02Speaker 2: some sort of hardware. Yeah, but we don't know what
- 43:07Speaker 2: that hardware is, where that hardware hardware is. Yeah, but
- 43:16Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 43:18Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 43:18Speaker 4: I'm still frustrated with the the inaptitude of the Federation
- 43:23Speaker 4: and how they keep writing it because even like there's
- 43:26Speaker 4: a point where where Genesis is like, oh, if if
- 43:29Speaker 4: you go into this area and you and you turn
- 43:32Speaker 4: off the airlock or whatever it is, you can escape unnoticed,
- 43:37Speaker 4: like like it's nothing.
- 43:39Speaker 2: No, that was that was Beta Max, Okay, because she
- 43:43Speaker 2: and uh what's his name, Caleem no Ja Jaden, they
- 43:52Speaker 2: were they were hiding in uh in uh like the
- 43:56Speaker 2: storage room or something, and it was that they decreased
- 44:00Speaker 2: the air pressure or something to fool the sensors or Yeah.
- 44:04Speaker 2: It's like, come on, man, we're eight hundred years in
- 44:06Speaker 2: the future.
- 44:07Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, it's just yeh. Donnie brings up another good point.
- 44:14Speaker 4: He says that in the Discovery episode they mentioned the
- 44:16Speaker 4: Klingons and Kardashians were part of the Federation.
- 44:19Speaker 3: Consistency is right, it's whatever they want it to be. Yeah, yeah,
- 44:28Speaker 3: so who knows.
- 44:33Speaker 4: I just got I want it to be good, and
- 44:35Speaker 4: it could be they just like think about things. We're
- 44:38Speaker 4: just a moment, you know. But it it's not and
- 44:43Speaker 4: it's frustrating. All right, Well, I guess we should get
- 44:50Speaker 4: to listener feedback. We got a few emails and voicemails,
- 44:53Speaker 4: so okay, let's do it.
- 44:55Speaker 3: Let's do it.
- 45:00Speaker 4: Our feedback, all right, So we do have some emails.
- 45:06Speaker 4: You can get ahold of us on social media. We
- 45:08Speaker 4: also have email addresses. We have TREKCASTTG at gmail dot com.
- 45:14Speaker 4: Scott has a strong Beard one as well, Strong Beard
- 45:16Speaker 4: seventeen oh one at gmail dot com. We're also on
- 45:21Speaker 4: social media at trek cast TG. We're on basically all
- 45:25Speaker 4: of them, and of course we are on. You can
- 45:29Speaker 4: leave us voicemails at five seven zero six six to
- 45:33Speaker 4: one zero zero zero one. Like Dan says, no one
- 45:37Speaker 4: will answer your call. It'll just be left as a
- 45:40Speaker 4: voicemail and we'll handle it. Tim has sent a couple
- 45:43Speaker 4: of different voicemails, one for each episode, so I will
- 45:47Speaker 4: play them now. So let's play the first one for
- 45:50Speaker 4: episode eight years.
- 45:51Speaker 5: Tim, and there's a real star, Trek. What can I
- 45:56Speaker 5: say about this show? Just when you think you can't
- 45:58Speaker 5: get any worse, it's like hold my beer because this
- 46:02Speaker 5: was just, undoubtedly, I think, probably the worst thing I've
- 46:06Speaker 5: ever seen. It just all seemed to be like word salad.
- 46:10Speaker 5: I didn't understand what was going on. They're just a
- 46:13Speaker 5: series of scenes with no sort of interconnecting parts. And
- 46:20Speaker 5: in the end, I was like, well, what happened in
- 46:22Speaker 5: this episode? I don't understand what they're saying. I have
- 46:25Speaker 5: no desire to check out this play that they're talking about.
- 46:28Speaker 5: It's just well, it's just terrible and I can't wait
- 46:34Speaker 5: for this garbage to be over. What I will ask
- 46:39Speaker 5: is do you do your show on Discord because I'd
- 46:42Speaker 5: like to sort of just sort of maybe join in
- 46:44Speaker 5: for the last show of the season and say hello,
- 46:48Speaker 5: but yeah, let us know. But yeah, one nice thing
- 46:54Speaker 5: I did enjoy the last couple of minutes with the
- 46:57Speaker 5: Doctor and Sam. They could spend a bit more time
- 47:01Speaker 5: doing that that. That was quite a Star Trek themed scene,
- 47:06Speaker 5: wasn't it? But oh is it?
- 47:08Speaker 2: Mell?
- 47:09Speaker 5: Can the Doctor not act? I found it quite cringe.
- 47:12Speaker 5: But all in all, the show was terrible. It's really
- 47:16Speaker 5: sad that The Night of the Second Kingdoms has finished.
- 47:21Speaker 2: Because that would.
- 47:22Speaker 5: Cleanse me palette afterwards. But then you guys cleansed me palette.
- 47:26Speaker 5: See this is what I said last week. The show's awful.
- 47:29Speaker 5: Your show is brilliant, so keep up the good work
- 47:32Speaker 5: and hopefully with any like, I might be able to
- 47:34Speaker 5: join you live next week. Surely it's Discord, you said
- 47:39Speaker 5: you in the meantime, Live long and prosper, take care
- 47:42Speaker 5: of boys.
- 47:42Speaker 6: Love you.
- 47:45Speaker 4: Nice well, Discord, it's it's live on YouTube.
- 47:51Speaker 3: But yeah, we'd be happy to have you join us, dim,
- 47:53Speaker 3: that'd be great.
- 47:54Speaker 4: So yeah, it sounds like he was not a fair
- 48:00Speaker 4: of the Droop Therapy episode. We also have another voicemail
- 48:05Speaker 4: from him, so let me let me play this one.
- 48:07Speaker 4: This is for episode nine.
- 48:09Speaker 5: Gentlemen, Daniel, I hope you're feeling better, so I do apologize.
- 48:14Speaker 5: It wasn't until I went to listen to last week's
- 48:17Speaker 5: podcast I suddenly remembered, Oh.
- 48:20Speaker 6: Yeah, he's had a little minor operation.
- 48:22Speaker 5: Well, I say minor. You probably didn't think it was
- 48:25Speaker 5: miner at the time. I hope you're feeling better, and
- 48:28Speaker 5: I hope these boys have been looking after you and
- 48:30Speaker 5: then you back up to full strength again or somewhere
- 48:32Speaker 5: near it. Regarding the latest Staffleate Academy, predictably, it was awful.
- 48:40Speaker 6: I didn't think much about it at all.
- 48:43Speaker 5: There was the only thing I could say one nice
- 48:46Speaker 5: thing was when Kleb find him out with his mum.
- 48:50Speaker 6: I quite liked that. I actually quite liked that part.
- 48:54Speaker 5: That to me was probably one of my favorite bits
- 48:56Speaker 5: of the whole season so far.
- 48:59Speaker 6: But apart everything else, again, the show's just not very good,
- 49:04Speaker 6: is it?
- 49:04Speaker 1: Really?
- 49:06Speaker 5: I have decided that Genesis is the hottie of the show,
- 49:11Speaker 5: all right.
- 49:13Speaker 6: Lowest common denominator here.
- 49:15Speaker 5: And the one thing I just wanted to say that
- 49:18Speaker 5: really stuck out for me, the worst line in the
- 49:20Speaker 5: whole show, And I.
- 49:21Speaker 6: Thought she didn't say that.
- 49:22Speaker 5: Did She got to rewind it and listened to it,
- 49:25Speaker 5: and she did say it was when she said they've
- 49:29Speaker 5: put us in a little box and we're the only
- 49:32Speaker 5: ones outside of it. Hang on, come on, how many
- 49:36Speaker 5: people did that get past? And to be greenlit? Awful,
- 49:43Speaker 5: right and awful show? One hot actress Gay Kling ons
- 49:48Speaker 5: in skirts. They've got a lot going for it this show.
- 49:51Speaker 5: But I look forward to next week because it'll be
- 49:54Speaker 5: the last week, and then after that.
- 49:57Speaker 6: You can talk about Star Trek.
- 50:00Speaker 5: I say you live long and prosper guys, Daniel, take care,
- 50:03Speaker 5: make get better soon, love you bye.
- 50:07Speaker 3: There you go there you go. I'm glad he's declared
- 50:11Speaker 3: the hottie of the show. Nice.
- 50:16Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, all.
- 50:19Speaker 3: Right, well Dan, you got some emails due?
- 50:22Speaker 2: Yeah yeah. So let's see there's two of them here. Hey, guys,
- 50:28Speaker 2: Venice here parentheses like Italy returning with some thoughts on
- 50:33Speaker 2: episode eight. Wow, they do have the ability to provide
- 50:37Speaker 2: a team building simulated exercise that could have been done
- 50:40Speaker 2: a few episodes ago without being responsible for the death
- 50:44Speaker 2: of a cadet.
- 50:45Speaker 3: Mm hmm.
- 50:46Speaker 2: It is so fabulous to see Lieutenant Tilley, a theoretical
- 50:51Speaker 2: engineer with a Starfleet Medal of Honor, who, with all
- 50:54Speaker 2: the skills and knowledge from her experiences, decides the best
- 50:58Speaker 2: teachings for these new cadets. Is pause for a dramatic
- 51:01Speaker 2: effect with a sigh fitter, Why is the shuttle craft
- 51:11Speaker 2: so damn huge. That's some high end luxury class shit.
- 51:17Speaker 2: It's like a Lincoln down car of shuttle crafts. That's
- 51:20Speaker 2: not her, that's that's me Lincoln town car. Anyway, Duval says,
- 51:25Speaker 2: it's a shuttle craft built for the whole damn academy.
- 51:28Speaker 2: That's true. Okay, scene jump here Caleb tells a drunk
- 51:33Speaker 2: ass Tarima this isn't you? Her response is, how would
- 51:37Speaker 2: you know? Uh, you shared a blind melon music video
- 51:42Speaker 2: moment together? Did she forget they connected? She finally left
- 51:47Speaker 2: mental Beta's residue. Oh, she definitely left mental betazad residue
- 51:52Speaker 2: on him.
- 51:53Speaker 3: So yeah, Oh it's so sticky.
- 51:57Speaker 2: One would say he knows her pretty well. Yeah, why
- 52:02Speaker 2: the f they got their cadets sleeping on large sponges
- 52:06Speaker 2: for pillows? Duval kept yelling role for initiative when we
- 52:12Speaker 2: see Sam's planet show up. If the planet's narrators were
- 52:18Speaker 2: talking for the doctor's memories of what he considered home,
- 52:22Speaker 2: then it would have been on Voyager. After all, when
- 52:26Speaker 2: he was talking about his hollow family, he stated for them,
- 52:29Speaker 2: for him, it was like yesterday. Therefore, the Academy would
- 52:32Speaker 2: have no emotional value for him. Such a low blow.
- 52:36Speaker 2: If they didn't have a budget big enough to create
- 52:38Speaker 2: a homeworld for Sam, why not just fix her in
- 52:41Speaker 2: sick bay? Duval says, I guess we're reusing the Academy
- 52:45Speaker 2: set since we blew our budget on Space Jock's homeworld
- 52:49Speaker 2: Moon in the last episode. Yeah, where was the hypospray
- 52:55Speaker 2: to help Jaden? Cling on with a very evident human cold.
- 53:00Speaker 2: Why did he have to quarantine in his quarters? That's true, Yeah,
- 53:04Speaker 2: that's true. He's a very good I didn't even think
- 53:07Speaker 2: of that. We've seen Tom Parris and Captain janeway On
- 53:11Speaker 2: Voyager return to human form from being fucking lizards with
- 53:15Speaker 2: a specialized anti proton therapy administered by the doctor the
- 53:19Speaker 2: delta quadrant. Hold on, and yet there is.
- 53:22Speaker 3: No way a goddamn deep cut.
- 53:25Speaker 2: And there was warning.
- 53:26Speaker 3: Warning, NERD alert, NERD alert.
- 53:32Speaker 2: All right, so he cured he cured lizards, but there's
- 53:36Speaker 2: no way to cure cold. Also, also, don't trust a
- 53:41Speaker 2: chancellor who doesn't wear shoes. There's absolutely no way. All
- 53:46Speaker 2: those holes are pristine with everyone else booting around. Have
- 53:50Speaker 2: a fabulous day, guys. Venice signing off.
- 53:54Speaker 3: Nice.
- 53:56Speaker 2: Nice, So thank you for that.
- 53:58Speaker 3: Yeah, thank you.
- 54:00Speaker 2: Some good points there. All right, let's see we've got
- 54:04Speaker 2: one from Duval Greeting's most excellent Hosts of Trek cast. Wow. Nice,
- 54:10Speaker 2: that's uh, it's quite a salutation there. Indeed, so Jaden
- 54:15Speaker 2: has started his own midnight society. You have not experienced
- 54:20Speaker 2: are you afraid of the dark until you have? In
- 54:23Speaker 2: the original Klingon of course, Betamax enters the same turbolift
- 54:28Speaker 2: as Caleb, of all the turbolifts on this starship, she
- 54:32Speaker 2: walks into mine or whatever Humphrey Bogart was saying in Casablanca. Seriously,
- 54:38Speaker 2: hacker genius Caleb could have figured out how to receive
- 54:41Speaker 2: his mom's messages in the past two years. Took Sam
- 54:44Speaker 2: two seconds upon hearing it from him to figure it out.
- 54:48Speaker 2: Shake my head, honestly surprised they didn't go the route
- 54:52Speaker 2: that he would have to retrieve his old roboteddy toy
- 54:56Speaker 2: and that his mom had been sending hidden messages to that. Yeah.
- 55:03Speaker 3: I actually thought about that too, like when Yeah.
- 55:07Speaker 2: It's like, oh, I gotta get my old iPhone four.
- 55:10Speaker 2: That's the only way I can get these messages.
- 55:12Speaker 3: All these all these Instagram messages on my zoom yep.
- 55:16Speaker 2: Yeah, tell the damn Chancellor you found your mom. Yeah. Yeah,
- 55:21Speaker 2: the Federation maybe on lockdown, but they have allies. Yeah,
- 55:26Speaker 2: that Chancellor pretty sure could have helped to save your mom.
- 55:31Speaker 2: But nope, don't say anything at all. It's nothing. Iye roll.
- 55:36Speaker 2: Of course, the majority of the Scooby gang is going
- 55:38Speaker 2: with Caleb to save his Mommy ls well, and in
- 55:43Speaker 2: five minutes, Mom is found. Yeah, main character going to
- 55:47Speaker 2: say mean things to their friends so they will hate them,
- 55:50Speaker 2: so their friends will let them go. So cliche. All
- 55:55Speaker 2: these minds and no one noticed that they're being placed
- 55:58Speaker 2: all around Federation space. Bullshit? I mean he I mean,
- 56:03Speaker 2: isn't mister tic tac toe enemy number one? No one
- 56:06Speaker 2: is keeping an eye on him or associates since the
- 56:09Speaker 2: robbery of highly classified weapons. So you're telling me USS
- 56:14Speaker 2: Discovery can't just jump inside the minefield. At least that
- 56:18Speaker 2: will be another fighting ship outside of Federation space. They
- 56:23Speaker 2: name drop Discovery before, So you guys think that might
- 56:26Speaker 2: happen in the season finale. Yeah, I don't know. I
- 56:30Speaker 2: could probably not. Now here's a real good question. Oh
- 56:37Speaker 2: this is good that I really like to hear your
- 56:39Speaker 2: thoughts on. Do you think we will get a return
- 56:42Speaker 2: of the Doctor as the eh the Emergency Command hologram?
- 56:45Speaker 2: I mean he was at a bridge station. Yeah, that
- 56:48Speaker 2: would actually make sense. That would be a neat throwback
- 56:52Speaker 2: and be nice to see that Starfleet implemented that program.
- 56:56Speaker 2: That's all I got until next episode, duvall, I want
- 56:59Speaker 2: to walk through minefield, Gerrino, your trek past New York
- 57:01Speaker 2: City Freelance course spot it. So what would be interesting
- 57:08Speaker 2: is if he had not activated that subroutine in his
- 57:14Speaker 2: program in eight hundred years and something happens next episode
- 57:22Speaker 2: where he's forced to do it in the middle of
- 57:24Speaker 2: in the middle of a battle, and because he hasn't
- 57:27Speaker 2: access that subroutine in six hundred seve hundred years or whatever,
- 57:32Speaker 2: it defaults to the Voyager command uniform.
- 57:37Speaker 3: Oh that's funny.
- 57:37Speaker 2: Yeah, that I would like to see.
- 57:39Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that'd be funny.
- 57:43Speaker 2: I think it would be awesome. Yeah, I think it
- 57:45Speaker 2: would be I think it would be awesome. And I
- 57:49Speaker 2: think they could digitally deage him. Yeah. So, like it's
- 57:53Speaker 2: just for a second, he he activates the eh, he
- 57:57Speaker 2: remateializes as nineteen ninety seven Robert Priccardo in a red
- 58:03Speaker 2: in a red Voyager uniform, and then makes a comment
- 58:07Speaker 2: about I haven't access to this program in quite a while.
- 58:10Speaker 2: I need to update my appearance parameters or whatever, right,
- 58:15Speaker 2: and then he just, you know, he like shutters the
- 58:17Speaker 2: ships for a second. Yeah, now, and now he's you know,
- 58:21Speaker 2: sixty year old Robert Priccardo in a current command style uniform.
- 58:26Speaker 3: I'd be down for that. Man. That sounds like fun. Yeah, yeah,
- 58:32Speaker 3: well we'll see. I don't think they won't. They won't,
- 58:37Speaker 3: but it's a nice idea.
- 58:40Speaker 4: Well, we got Chasmis on the line too. He's been
- 58:43Speaker 4: waiting all right, let me let me bring him in
- 58:46Speaker 4: there he is, there's jazz.
- 58:47Speaker 7: Biz glorious, mister Potters.
- 58:52Speaker 2: Are you one with Bajor right now?
- 58:54Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 58:55Speaker 7: Remember my I know if I bend it down, I
- 58:58Speaker 7: will yeah yeah, yeah, all the sunlight's coming through.
- 59:03Speaker 3: So what do you think of the episodes?
- 59:08Speaker 7: Theater episode was pretty bad because it was like they
- 59:12Speaker 7: keep on mentioning the Miyazaki incident and you're like, okay,
- 59:16Speaker 7: so what was the Miyazaki?
- 59:20Speaker 2: Right?
- 59:21Speaker 7: Like the episode went by so quick that I forget.
- 59:24Speaker 7: And then plus they're on spring break yeah, and you're like, okay, uh,
- 59:30Speaker 7: I haven't seen any school this year maybe one two classes?
- 59:35Speaker 7: Are you guys even in school? Like what's going on here?
- 59:40Speaker 7: So and that episode, it was just the doctor's part
- 59:47Speaker 7: I thought was the most interesting part with the hologram.
- 59:52Speaker 7: I wish that was, you know, fleshed out better. And
- 59:54Speaker 7: then they left our town maybe on the back burner
- 59:58Speaker 7: a little bit more, and then you know, you got
- 1:00:01Speaker 7: the bait is a way that's whiny that she's been
- 1:00:05Speaker 7: out for a couple weeks or whatever. That's right, Yeah,
- 1:00:10Speaker 7: because she got a new she got what is she now?
- 1:00:14Speaker 7: Because she's got an ultra.
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yeah, hibbit chip.
- 1:00:20Speaker 7: Yes, and you know it's gonna destroy the Omega device
- 1:00:22Speaker 7: because she's going to use her Jean Grey powers and
- 1:00:24Speaker 7: turn to the Phoenix.
- 1:00:26Speaker 4: So I don't get like, Okay, So when she when
- 1:00:30Speaker 4: she saved them, right before she did that, she turns
- 1:00:35Speaker 4: to Caleb and says, you're gonna hate me for this,
- 1:00:38Speaker 4: or you might hate me for something along those lines.
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: She does her Canary cry save them right.
- 1:00:45Speaker 4: And it's it's never been awkward since then, he's been
- 1:00:49Speaker 4: he's been after her. He doesn't like, you know, she
- 1:00:53Speaker 4: just says she feels awkward. But they don't really do
- 1:00:56Speaker 4: anything with that.
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: She said, you're gonna hate me for this, but that's
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: not really she hates herself for it. For it, I
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: think I think that's what it is. He don't care.
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: He's like, ah, they needed to kill.
- 1:01:08Speaker 3: Him, yeah right right.
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: Oh.
- 1:01:12Speaker 4: Also, I didn't even put this in my notes, but
- 1:01:15Speaker 4: the fact that they brought her back and they were like,
- 1:01:18Speaker 4: we're gonna put you now in the Starfleet Academy of
- 1:01:21Speaker 4: the War College.
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: That makes zero sense.
- 1:01:24Speaker 4: Yeah, you wouldn't one zero, Yeah, you're not gonna just
- 1:01:31Speaker 4: transfer schools like that. But two her dad was so
- 1:01:34Speaker 4: finicky about putting her in any of these institutions much less.
- 1:01:39Speaker 4: Now she's in danger and you're gonna just like put
- 1:01:42Speaker 4: her in the one where like the kid died, like.
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: The hippie college.
- 1:01:48Speaker 7: Yeah, she's gonna see Barkley.
- 1:01:51Speaker 4: Now, it would have made more sense if they're like,
- 1:01:54Speaker 4: we pulled her and now she's going to school in
- 1:01:56Speaker 4: Beta's that like Betazet College.
- 1:02:00Speaker 7: Yeah, completely pulled.
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: Yeah whatever, she's going to be b c U.
- 1:02:06Speaker 4: Yeah, the fighting butterflies, the bs, the butterflies or whatever.
- 1:02:14Speaker 3: I don't know. Yeah.
- 1:02:18Speaker 7: And then the next episode, they somehow miraculously find his
- 1:02:24Speaker 7: mother right like they he pinpoints it. They land on
- 1:02:29Speaker 7: the planet and within seconds he finds his mother on
- 1:02:33Speaker 7: the planet. There's no search. He's like just walking down
- 1:02:37Speaker 7: the alley like mom, mom, you.
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: Know, because because he remember he remembered his ic Q passwords,
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: that's right, and he found all the messages.
- 1:02:47Speaker 3: Yeah, he got the special code for his decoder ring.
- 1:02:50Speaker 7: Okay, like when you're in the store and you lose,
- 1:02:55Speaker 7: like your wife or something.
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: She just disappears.
- 1:02:57Speaker 7: You just walk around the whole story looking for Yeah
- 1:03:00Speaker 7: you ever, you ever have you know, have that happen
- 1:03:02Speaker 7: or anything? Like probably kids or whatever.
- 1:03:06Speaker 3: I just have them go over the loudspeaker that I'm missing,
- 1:03:10Speaker 3: let them.
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: Yes, I would probably have my tricoder scan for human
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: life signs. But that's that's just me.
- 1:03:18Speaker 3: Yeah, crazy like that.
- 1:03:22Speaker 7: Yes, yes. And then of course, like the combadges like
- 1:03:27Speaker 7: speaks out loud when they're getting arrested, right and like
- 1:03:31Speaker 7: where everybody can hear everything. It's like, okay, that makes sense.
- 1:03:35Speaker 3: Yeah, and then the problem with the combadges Okay, well.
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: Except that they're on they're on a covert miss mission.
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: Why are they wearing Why are they wearing combatges? You
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: don't put them on silent when.
- 1:03:53Speaker 7: Apparently you can swallow.
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: Yes, they're delicious.
- 1:03:57Speaker 3: Yes, give the new great great flavored combadge.
- 1:04:02Speaker 7: Yes, you know when Caleb's like telling everybody hates him,
- 1:04:09Speaker 7: you know, be like saying that Scott powder smells like
- 1:04:12Speaker 7: cheeseburgers and get out of here.
- 1:04:14Speaker 4: You know, yeah, man, Scott's hear you're making a run
- 1:04:21Speaker 4: for his job.
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: Wow.
- 1:04:23Speaker 3: Yeah, I see how it is. Scott's gonna put you
- 1:04:26Speaker 3: in the basement.
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: Man, be careful, all right, But I don't know that.
- 1:04:34Speaker 7: It's just yeah, they do need more episodes per season
- 1:04:39Speaker 7: to build.
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: Up the characters.
- 1:04:42Speaker 7: Yeah, and they've spent so much money on effects and
- 1:04:47Speaker 7: filming and you know, directing, and you know, all that
- 1:04:51Speaker 7: looks great.
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: Yeah, it all looks fantastic.
- 1:04:54Speaker 7: And you know, you got your cast. And I do
- 1:04:57Speaker 7: like the lead character. I like the Caleb guy mm hmm.
- 1:05:01Speaker 7: You know, I like, you know, I like Genesis, uh.
- 1:05:06Speaker 3: The or not the problem.
- 1:05:08Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:05:10Speaker 7: So the Captain, on the other hand, she's I don't know,
- 1:05:13Speaker 7: she has to grow on me so or the Chancellor
- 1:05:16Speaker 7: whatever she is, she.
- 1:05:18Speaker 3: Has to grow on you or she has grown on you.
- 1:05:20Speaker 7: No, she has to, you know, like she's not I
- 1:05:23Speaker 7: don't know for some reason. I just I like, but
- 1:05:27Speaker 7: I don't like her character. So I think her character
- 1:05:32Speaker 7: is just kind of written wrong.
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:05:36Speaker 4: Well, I mean next week we'll we'll do our prediction
- 1:05:39Speaker 4: or our results show.
- 1:05:44Speaker 7: What's your thoughts? Okay, I know you guys probably had
- 1:05:48Speaker 7: mcguffin device that destroys everything, you know. I was like,
- 1:05:52Speaker 7: because every with Kurtsman.
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: Every season has to be the end of.
- 1:05:56Speaker 7: The world something, so whatever they find, they have to
- 1:06:02Speaker 7: figure out how to stop. Like the burn and now
- 1:06:06Speaker 7: the Omega thirteen or whatever the hell you call.
- 1:06:08Speaker 4: It, Omega X or Mega red or whatever.
- 1:06:13Speaker 7: Yeah, well, like how big would this device have to
- 1:06:18Speaker 7: be to cover the whole federation?
- 1:06:21Speaker 3: And how many of them? Yes, yeah, that's a problem
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: with it. Yeah, space is yeah, yeah, it just makes
- 1:06:29Speaker 3: no sense much.
- 1:06:30Speaker 4: Less in the sphere, much less if he's going to
- 1:06:35Speaker 4: be placing them around the amount of time it would
- 1:06:38Speaker 4: take to travel and and do that and transport them,
- 1:06:43Speaker 4: Like do they not detect his ships with the space nukes?
- 1:06:47Speaker 4: Are they not able to.
- 1:06:49Speaker 7: It's like it doesn't make sense. It's like this whole
- 1:06:52Speaker 7: giant net, yeah, cast over federation, and how would it
- 1:06:57Speaker 7: cover it that quick? You know, I'm mean they just
- 1:07:00Speaker 7: warped out maybe a day ago, right, And because they
- 1:07:05Speaker 7: never explained like how long they've been traveling. It's just
- 1:07:08Speaker 7: kind of like when they're on that shuttle craft on
- 1:07:11Speaker 7: the previous episode. It's like this giant shutter craft, right,
- 1:07:16Speaker 7: and there's like nothing in between the shuttle craft. It's
- 1:07:18Speaker 7: just empty space.
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: It's like yeah, so or.
- 1:07:22Speaker 4: Something if he had surrounded let's say Beta Z, right,
- 1:07:26Speaker 4: that makes more sense, like yes, yes, like one planet, yeah,
- 1:07:29Speaker 4: one planet, like okay, you know this is your new
- 1:07:34Speaker 4: you know, ahead of starfleet, and we're gonna.
- 1:07:37Speaker 7: Even if would make more sense than the like this
- 1:07:42Speaker 7: is huge, like giant space. Yeah all right, well had
- 1:07:48Speaker 7: multi multiple nets cast on each different sector, yeah, than
- 1:07:53Speaker 7: the whole sector.
- 1:07:54Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, well.
- 1:07:56Speaker 4: I don't know or even if he maybe he didn't
- 1:08:00Speaker 4: take the Omega, but like he found the facility and
- 1:08:04Speaker 4: he was going to blow up that one facility and
- 1:08:06Speaker 4: it was just like a giant chunk out of the federation, right, yeah,
- 1:08:11Speaker 4: something like that makes me.
- 1:08:12Speaker 7: A shockwave that just went yeah, yeah, that'd be cool.
- 1:08:16Speaker 3: That would makes more sense.
- 1:08:18Speaker 7: They go on the Miyazaki, right, and they have this advice.
- 1:08:21Speaker 7: Why was the Miyazaki sitting there with that device in
- 1:08:24Speaker 7: there be like a nuclear warhead just chilling there.
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: Yeah, No, it wasn't on the Miyazaki.
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: It wasn't.
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: No, the Miyazaki was the distraction so that they could
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: steal it from that space station or whatever.
- 1:08:35Speaker 4: Yeah, from yes, okay, okay, okay, So it's.
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: Area fifty two because that's a little more secretive.
- 1:08:45Speaker 3: Yeah, it's just one more secretive then.
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: So that's an episode.
- 1:08:50Speaker 7: I was out of town watching it on my phone,
- 1:08:52Speaker 7: so okay, like I didn't you know, I really haven't
- 1:08:57Speaker 7: gone back to watching, you know, like I was watching that,
- 1:09:00Speaker 7: so it's twice and then I can catch up.
- 1:09:02Speaker 4: But now I'm yeah, I watched it after hurt surgery,
- 1:09:06Speaker 4: so you know it's all the same.
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: Literally, literally, man, that's right.
- 1:09:13Speaker 7: It literally he's like looking at the peak vomit and
- 1:09:15Speaker 7: smiling light look at it.
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: I looked at the cardiologian said, I no longer have
- 1:09:19Speaker 3: the will to live. All right, back back, Yeah.
- 1:09:25Speaker 4: We got Hipster Spock waiting, and poor guy's been waiting forever,
- 1:09:28Speaker 4: so let me let me bring him in.
- 1:09:30Speaker 3: All right, Jasmine, thanks for being on.
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: All right, thank you.
- 1:09:33Speaker 4: All right, here's Hipster Spock. I saw him pop up
- 1:09:37Speaker 4: there you are, buddy.
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: Hello, guys, Hey, how are you doing? Daniel? I'm going hello,
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: Hello Sunday. And yeah, actually, we didn't set our clock back,
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: so I was thinking, okay, it's four o'clock, so I'm
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: gonna log in and catch the beginning of the Joe.
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: But once I logged in, you guys are we're like
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: wrapping up, So yeah, I forgot that. You guys change
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: your clock like like a week, a few weeks ahead.
- 1:10:14Speaker 3: But it's okay, what what country are you in?
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: So yeah, I'm in Poland and Europe, so yeah, we
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: don't change our clock until the end of the month.
- 1:10:27Speaker 3: Oh okay, okay, so for a few for.
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: A few weeks, we're like five hours behind New York
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: rather than sick or ahead. I'm excusing.
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: It is even in the even in the States here. Yeah,
- 1:10:44Speaker 2: it's confusing. If you ever visit.
- 1:10:46Speaker 3: Nevada or Arizona, one of them doesn't.
- 1:10:48Speaker 2: Yeah, if you ever visit Hoover Dam, Arizona does not
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: observe daylight savings time. Yeah, and Arizona and Nevada are
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: in two different time zones, and the Hoover Dam is
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: right on the border. So there's a clock on each pylon,
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: and half of the year it's the same time. Half
- 1:11:05Speaker 2: of the year it's an hour.
- 1:11:06Speaker 4: Differentous, so freaking ridiculous.
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: Yeah, that's got to mess with a lot of people's heads.
- 1:11:15Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, can you imagine being a local there. You
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: you live in Arizona, but you work in Nevada or
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: vice versa. And you're like, I got an I got
- 1:11:23Speaker 2: an hour to get to work. Oh no, I'm supposed
- 1:11:26Speaker 2: to be there right now.
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly. But anyway, it's almost done at least that's
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: right through one more week. I mean it's I saw
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: some I saw some meme somewhere that, uh, this this
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: show is like some sort of a prison sentence. Uh yeah,
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: but you know what do what do you think they'll
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: do next season? I mean they got one more season, right,
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: they did there? Yeah, they're done frame shooting the next season.
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: And and then so based on this, based on the
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: feedback from this season, huh, they gotta reshoot the next season.
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: Probably what do you think.
- 1:12:15Speaker 4: Well that that uh, that assumes that they care about
- 1:12:20Speaker 4: the feedback.
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: So yeah, so it's a business as usual.
- 1:12:29Speaker 4: Yeah, I would imagine because it's been a few seasons,
- 1:12:33Speaker 4: we are due for an evil AI plot. You know,
- 1:12:40Speaker 4: we had, we had control, we had there was another
- 1:12:44Speaker 4: one in in Percard, like the evil Romulan Ai cult.
- 1:12:50Speaker 3: So we're due.
- 1:12:51Speaker 4: We're due for an evil AI cult or plot line, so.
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: Kind of like Control in the.
- 1:13:03Speaker 3: Discovery something like that, some new one.
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: You know. Speaking of Ai, I think Ai Slappa would
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: probably be a probably be better than what we got
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: this season or what you guys thought. I mean, probably
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: GPT could do a better job.
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: Hi, honey, we'll say hill, what's going on?
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: Oh?
- 1:13:33Speaker 3: Hello?
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: Hello there? Hi?
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, now now we gotta like, you know, greater
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: languages because with a young lady in our midst. So yeah,
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: it's it's almost over next season. I don't know what's
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: gonna happen, but hopefully maybe they might do a little
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: editing or something. Who knows. I mean, if they really
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: care about the thing, I would hope they would. But
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: if they don't, and okay, then they'll they'll continue to
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: get review bombed. Right, And I mean, what do you
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: think about the the rumors that basically Trek is done
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: after next season because you know, there was this you
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: know rumor from a giant freaking robot or something.
- 1:14:39Speaker 3: Yeah, and well there's a few places that are saying that.
- 1:14:43Speaker 4: It feels like they want to reboot everything because of
- 1:14:47Speaker 4: the movies, right, they want to like completely start over
- 1:14:50Speaker 4: first with the movies. I think when you've had a
- 1:14:54Speaker 4: franchise go this long with this much connected lore, at
- 1:14:59Speaker 4: some point you do need to just like start over.
- 1:15:02Speaker 4: If you're going to continue to make stories. It's kind
- 1:15:06Speaker 4: of what they do with James Bond, right, Like, there's
- 1:15:08Speaker 4: a million James Bond movies, but each time a new
- 1:15:11Speaker 4: James Bond comes in, they just start fresh.
- 1:15:13Speaker 3: They don't reconnect to the old ones, right Like.
- 1:15:17Speaker 4: One of the one of the things that made the
- 1:15:19Speaker 4: Daniel Craig James Bond so innovative is the fact that
- 1:15:23Speaker 4: all of his movies do connect like that wasn't in
- 1:15:26Speaker 4: the case with the other ones, like the the Pierce
- 1:15:30Speaker 4: Brazen ones didn't connect at all. They were just standalone stories.
- 1:15:36Speaker 4: So yeah, I think if you're gonna do Star Trek again, yeah,
- 1:15:40Speaker 4: you just need to reboot and you need to start over.
- 1:15:42Speaker 2: I think they I think they need a rest first.
- 1:15:45Speaker 3: I think so too.
- 1:15:46Speaker 2: I think they need a rest. I think we need
- 1:15:48Speaker 2: a period of time where there's no Star Trek so
- 1:15:51Speaker 2: that when they start this process again, they can look
- 1:15:54Speaker 2: back on it all and and take it in with
- 1:15:58Speaker 2: some fresh eyes and see what what worked, yeah, what
- 1:16:03Speaker 2: didn't work? Yeah, and move on from that. Yeah.
- 1:16:08Speaker 3: I agree, I agree.
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: I mean, Uh, the thing is, I mean the cinematography,
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: based on what I see, it's amazing, and I think
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: they've spent all their their budget on that. They didn't
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: really spend a lot of budget on writing. I would
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: I would rather have a stage, a empty stage set
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: via like a dog bill from large V treer and
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: and some and really like engaging storylines and and delt
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: and character development. That would be so much better than
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: you know, all this a bousand whistles and you know
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: this and incompetence.
- 1:16:52Speaker 4: Oh yeah, Well there's there's an old Hollywood uh saying,
- 1:16:58Speaker 4: which is a good scripture's word that's weight in gold,
- 1:17:01Speaker 4: you know, because it's the foundation you need to have it.
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: So all right, and you know, well, we'll see what
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: happens that ye season, but or even the next episode.
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: They might throw us a banger, but hopefully, I mean,
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: I want it to be good.
- 1:17:25Speaker 4: Yeah, I want it to be good. I imagine we'll
- 1:17:28Speaker 4: end on a cliffhanger. I don't I don't think it'll
- 1:17:31Speaker 4: be wrapped up, especially knowing that they had a season
- 1:17:33Speaker 4: two going into it, so I imagine we'll have a cliffhanger.
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: How long do you think we have to wait between
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: the two seasons.
- 1:17:41Speaker 3: Oh?
- 1:17:43Speaker 4: I would imagine it'll all be done by next year,
- 1:17:47Speaker 4: because you got season four a Strange New Worlds, then
- 1:17:52Speaker 4: you could do Starfleet Academy season two. Then you could
- 1:17:55Speaker 4: do the final season of Strange New Worlds season five,
- 1:18:00Speaker 4: and all that stuff is shot, right, and you could
- 1:18:04Speaker 4: you could hammer all of that out, you know, by
- 1:18:09Speaker 4: next year. If you do Stranger World season four this year,
- 1:18:13Speaker 4: like this fall, then you've only got two more seasons
- 1:18:16Speaker 4: left a TV. That's next year and you're done.
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: I mean, Stranger Worlds is at least somewhat tolerable because
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: you know, they they're at least, uh somewhat good at
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: their jobs.
- 1:18:33Speaker 4: I mean it's hopefully, you know, hopefully it gets better.
- 1:18:38Speaker 4: I mean, nothing is going to be Star Trek.
- 1:18:40Speaker 3: Scouts, but yeah, yeah, that is that is the peak.
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: So m of course. All right and uh talk to
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: you guys later.
- 1:18:58Speaker 2: Thanks a little bit, thank you, please appreciate it.
- 1:19:01Speaker 4: Okay, all right, well it's pretty much it for the show.
- 1:19:10Speaker 4: But yeah, we'll be back next week with the finale
- 1:19:11Speaker 4: and results and yeah, let us know what play you
- 1:19:18Speaker 4: want us to do for our group therapy section.
- 1:19:22Speaker 2: Death of a Salesman, Yes, yeah, starting Quark.
- 1:19:26Speaker 4: Yeah, all right, well we'll see you guys later.
- 1:19:31Speaker 8: All right, bye, this is Captain Benjamin Cisco of Deep
- 1:19:35Speaker 8: Space nine and Space God to the Bajorans.
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: I have a mission for you.
- 1:19:39Speaker 8: This falls outside of Starfleet guidelines, so I can't order you,
