- 0:01Speaker 1: Welcome to Dirty Rush, The Truth about SERRITI Life with
- 0:04Speaker 1: your hosts me Gia, Judice.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Daisy Kent, and Jennifer Kessler.
- 0:11Speaker 3: Hey, guys, welcome back to another episode of Dirty Rush.
- 0:14Speaker 3: We are doing part two, answering all your questions, debunking everything.
- 0:19Speaker 3: We are back here with the girls, so listen up.
- 0:22Speaker 3: This one's going to be JC.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Did you guys get hazed at all?
- 0:26Speaker 1: No?
- 0:27Speaker 2: No, I didn't, No, not at all.
- 0:29Speaker 4: No, I would say no. I can tell one story.
- 0:31Speaker 4: The only thing they did. And I don't know if
- 0:33Speaker 4: this is hazing. I don't think it is. We had
- 0:35Speaker 4: like a courtyard and then like a balcony and the
- 0:40Speaker 4: actives we call them actives, and we were pledges. The
- 0:42Speaker 4: actives were stood on the balcony and we were in
- 0:45Speaker 4: the courtyard and they just said, can you spell my
- 0:47Speaker 4: last name? That was the most hazing we have the
- 0:49Speaker 4: whole time, which I did.
- 0:52Speaker 2: I think my chapter might have gotten a little bit
- 0:55Speaker 2: in trouble for a hazing thing before I came.
- 0:57Speaker 3: So there was like zero when I came through, not
- 1:00Speaker 3: like kicked off campus obviously, but I.
- 1:02Speaker 2: Think they got a handslap, so they were super careful.
- 1:05Speaker 1: I think the boys definitely.
- 1:07Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:08Speaker 1: I mean I never heard of hazing ever.
- 1:10Speaker 4: I always of the banana in the toilet. You guys
- 1:13Speaker 4: don't know this story. I don't know if this is true.
- 1:15Speaker 4: This was always the rumor, not for girls, but for boys,
- 1:18Speaker 4: that the boys would there'd be a banana in the
- 1:22Speaker 4: toilet or something like that. It still sounds very gross
- 1:26Speaker 4: and the boys would have to reach into the toilet
- 1:29Speaker 4: and then eat the banana. But first of all, even
- 1:33Speaker 4: if it was a banana, and if it was in
- 1:34Speaker 4: the toilet a fraternity house.
- 1:37Speaker 1: That's yeah.
- 1:38Speaker 4: I don't know if I have that right, but that
- 1:40Speaker 4: was always the one I heard the grossest thing. And
- 1:44Speaker 4: probably people in fraternities. First of all, they're not listening
- 1:47Speaker 4: to the show, but if they were, they're probably laughing thinking.
- 1:51Speaker 1: That would be the least of them. Yeah, for sure, I.
- 1:57Speaker 5: Have heard a story, and I don't know if it's
- 2:00Speaker 5: true or not, of a popular school that a lot
- 2:04Speaker 5: of my friends went to. They had girls. This was
- 2:08Speaker 5: their version of hazeing. They had girls stand on top
- 2:11Speaker 5: of an empty washer.
- 2:16Speaker 2: I heard that on something like a dryer.
- 2:18Speaker 5: They had them stand on an empty dryer that was
- 2:21Speaker 5: running like a load of laundry. But there's nothing in it.
- 2:23Speaker 5: So it was shaking around and then girls would take
- 2:25Speaker 5: sharpies and like circle, what was jiggling.
- 2:30Speaker 1: I've heard that believe that could be true, but I
- 2:33Speaker 1: think that could be true either.
- 2:35Speaker 5: But I've heard people who have claimed that it has
- 2:37Speaker 5: happened to them.
- 2:38Speaker 1: I think that is cruel.
- 2:41Speaker 6: I remember being like nervous about that when I was
- 2:42Speaker 6: rushing wide spread it.
- 2:47Speaker 4: Like I think, how everyone checks their Halloween candy and
- 2:52Speaker 4: did you know that's like a not a thing? Yeah,
- 2:55Speaker 4: thank you Easton's here. We've one guy here that was
- 2:58Speaker 4: a whole fake thing, you know how like you're would
- 3:00Speaker 4: be like I did check your Halloween candy if somebody's
- 3:03Speaker 4: poisoning the Halloween candy, and like it never actually ever happened,
- 3:06Speaker 4: but it became this like urban legend, and so this
- 3:09Speaker 4: fil check and the Halloween this feels like yeah, so
- 3:12Speaker 4: I think too.
- 3:13Speaker 3: Okay, our initiation ceremonies really as creepy and dramatic as
- 3:18Speaker 3: they are portrayed.
- 3:21Speaker 4: A weird yeah, they are a little bit.
- 3:25Speaker 1: You're a Kappa, Yeah, I heard Kapas was weird.
- 3:28Speaker 4: I don't know if we're any weirder than anyone else,
- 3:29Speaker 4: but like there was definitely this is what will I
- 3:32Speaker 4: say that I feel comfortable, So I'll tell you what.
- 3:34Speaker 4: I'll feel comfortable saying Number one, there were palm fronds.
- 3:37Speaker 4: I never knew what a palm fron was. Oh my god,
- 3:41Speaker 4: robes for sure.
- 3:42Speaker 1: Robes.
- 3:43Speaker 4: Yes, I believe there was some sprinkling of water. And
- 3:47Speaker 4: I will say this, which I'm totally throwing the anonymous
- 3:50Speaker 4: thing out the window. But my mom was also in
- 3:54Speaker 4: my same sorority, in my same house. So there was
- 3:57Speaker 4: a root we got you kind of get all per
- 4:00Speaker 4: raid it around. And there was a room and I
- 4:02Speaker 4: won't name it, but it had like a certain color
- 4:05Speaker 4: and it was definitely like all woo woo decorated weird.
- 4:09Speaker 4: And someone came out of the room and they go, dude,
- 4:12Speaker 4: your mom's in there, like and my mom was. I
- 4:15Speaker 4: remember kind of being very sleep and looking up and
- 4:18Speaker 4: I'm like, my mom's in here. Like there's a I
- 4:21Speaker 4: feel comfortable saying that part.
- 4:23Speaker 1: There's a rumor once Slaty requires there. What do you
- 4:27Speaker 1: call those the girls the likelges pledges to get into
- 4:31Speaker 1: a casket? Not us not No, it wasn't Kapa.
- 4:35Speaker 4: I've never heard that. It was just like a Halloween.
- 4:42Speaker 1: And and they wear like nude this is the rumor.
- 4:45Speaker 1: They wear like a nude brawn underwear and they get
- 4:47Speaker 1: into a casket. Not that is not definitely, so that
- 4:54Speaker 1: sounds really creepy, just like knelt down at the front
- 4:57Speaker 1: and they like make you recite the stuff like a sermon.
- 5:01Speaker 5: Did you guys have to drink anything? It wasn't drinking,
- 5:04Speaker 5: but we had to drink a little sip of this thing.
- 5:09Speaker 5: I'm like, guys, I have a lot of allergies, like
- 5:12Speaker 5: what is this?
- 5:13Speaker 1: And then a secret name for it.
- 5:20Speaker 3: When people like go when they like trip and it's
- 5:21Speaker 3: like center, Like if.
- 5:30Speaker 4: Somebody tried to tell me to drink something, I'd be
- 5:32Speaker 4: like absolutely.
- 5:32Speaker 5: I was like, guys, I have a lot of allergies,
- 5:35Speaker 5: like what is this?
- 5:36Speaker 1: Like we can't tell you. And then I drank and
- 5:38Speaker 1: I was allergic to us.
- 5:41Speaker 2: Okay, but considered.
- 5:47Speaker 3: I felt like mine was like you know, like if
- 5:50Speaker 3: you're like religious or you're at church and like you
- 5:52Speaker 3: hear the pastor say something, it just like hits and
- 5:55Speaker 3: you just start crying. Yeah, that's like how my already drinking,
- 5:58Speaker 3: Like I just started like room was so emotional and
- 6:01Speaker 3: like crying.
- 6:03Speaker 4: White crying is very fuzzy. I cannot totally remember our creff.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Round was where the tears came.
- 6:10Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I remember our initiation was, or at least
- 6:13Speaker 6: the two have been in were always the Sunday after hollowekend,
- 6:17Speaker 6: so everyone was just really hungover. So like if there
- 6:19Speaker 6: were emotions, it was like not from the initiation.
- 6:23Speaker 3: Was a bit rough. Okay, what about this one? Did
- 6:29Speaker 3: your sorority have any secret rituals? I know you said
- 6:32Speaker 3: you have this secret coverts we.
- 6:35Speaker 4: Had, I feel locked out, A password, a knock, a handshake,
- 6:38Speaker 4: all kinds of secret songs, all kinds of stuff you
- 6:41Speaker 4: guys didn't.
- 6:42Speaker 1: We had the knock, we had the handshake during rush,
- 6:46Speaker 1: we had specific songs that we would sing when the
- 6:48Speaker 1: girls would go through that. I don't think other sororities did.
- 6:52Speaker 1: But I don't have a password. Don't you have a pass?
- 6:56Speaker 1: I mean maybe I just left out of it and
- 6:58Speaker 1: someone's gonna listen and be like, you definitely had a
- 7:00Speaker 1: pass for you were supposed to know.
- 7:04Speaker 4: I definitely use it as like a lot of my
- 7:05Speaker 4: email logins.
- 7:09Speaker 3: Oh, is it true some houses have secret rooms only
- 7:12Speaker 3: certain members can enter?
- 7:16Speaker 4: Not that not that I know. I think the child
- 7:18Speaker 4: room had some sort of secret back room.
- 7:21Speaker 2: I don't think the boys in your house. Yes, after
- 7:25Speaker 2: a certain amount of not.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Half hours, Oh yeah, they could come. Yeah, I think
- 7:29Speaker 1: ours was like nine to five. They could come upstairs,
- 7:32Speaker 1: but they could eat meals.
- 7:34Speaker 3: I think it's interesting too, because like the fraternities are
- 7:37Speaker 3: the ones that always have the parties, like at San
- 7:39Speaker 3: Diego State, Like like a sorority would.
- 7:42Speaker 2: Never ever have a party and never, no, never, never.
- 7:46Speaker 1: You can't drink in the house, so how would you
- 7:49Speaker 1: have a party, Well you can't.
- 7:52Speaker 3: But sneaky.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Okay.
- 7:57Speaker 3: Do sororities ever vote people out for not fitting an esthetic?
- 8:02Speaker 4: No?
- 8:02Speaker 1: No, no, I'm glad everyone agrees on them.
- 8:05Speaker 3: Yeah, how their schools wear by Yeah. Do sororities really
- 8:24Speaker 3: fine members for silly things like missing events or not
- 8:26Speaker 3: wearing the right outfit?
- 8:27Speaker 2: Yes, yes, yes, I would say, like.
- 8:30Speaker 4: But not wearing the right outfit, I think the outfit for.
- 8:34Speaker 1: A chapter you had to wear normal chapter. If you
- 8:38Speaker 1: didn't wear, you wear like a white dress. In the
- 8:41Speaker 1: beginning of the year, when there were new members, they
- 8:43Speaker 1: had to go through their like step program thing like
- 8:46Speaker 1: your initiation rituals. Yeah, you want to wear a white dress.
- 8:50Speaker 5: And certain color shoes.
- 8:51Speaker 3: I think it was.
- 8:53Speaker 4: Because I have to wear a skirt to like Monday
- 8:55Speaker 4: night dinner.
- 8:57Speaker 1: No, no, I wear but Monday night was Chapters, so
- 8:59Speaker 1: you'd wear dress.
- 9:00Speaker 4: So yeah, yeah, Monday night we had to wear to
- 9:02Speaker 4: the dinner. We had to wear a skirt. But it
- 9:05Speaker 4: was so it was like the nineties, so people were
- 9:06Speaker 4: literally wearing jeans and pull a skirt over it.
- 9:09Speaker 1: We would do something boots and a dress and then
- 9:13Speaker 1: about the shoes.
- 9:15Speaker 4: That was the night too. It was like a more
- 9:16Speaker 4: formal dinner. I don't totally remember how that worked, but
- 9:21Speaker 4: it was definitely more formal.
- 9:23Speaker 7: Yeah, because it was right china or anything, but so
- 9:26Speaker 7: you had to be dressed to go into chesa.
- 9:28Speaker 1: Eat paper plates we used, no, they were like seram.
- 9:33Speaker 1: We had like special china that we would have for
- 9:35Speaker 1: like very formal dinner. Oh okay, we'd have it like
- 9:38Speaker 1: a couple of times a year. It was like the
- 9:39Speaker 1: special Katie China. Okay, I don't know, fancy.
- 9:44Speaker 2: Do you sororities? Burn or yeah?
- 9:47Speaker 3: Burner berry items during initiation ceremonies.
- 9:50Speaker 4: No, no, no, okay, good juicy weird questions.
- 9:56Speaker 3: There really a blood oath or vow that last ever,
- 10:01Speaker 3: no blood, no blood.
- 10:03Speaker 6: I think the vows kind of like figurative, like I
- 10:05Speaker 6: promise to, you know, be with these sisters for life,
- 10:08Speaker 6: but it's like no one's wanting to do that.
- 10:14Speaker 3: We all live.
- 10:16Speaker 5: We all also probably vowed not to expose the secrets that.
- 10:19Speaker 1: We're exposing the password.
- 10:22Speaker 4: That's why I feel, OK, as long as you don't
- 10:28Speaker 4: give away the past words golden rule, give you my
- 10:32Speaker 4: knock or my handshake either Nope, I'll give it to
- 10:36Speaker 4: the other girl.
- 10:36Speaker 3: Muscley right here, Okay, is what you see in the
- 10:41Speaker 3: movies like Legally Blonde or The House Bunny remotely accurate.
- 10:45Speaker 4: It seels too pink for me.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Pink. I just think about that.
- 10:52Speaker 5: One scene from Legally Blonde where the date is coming
- 10:57Speaker 5: to the house and all the girls are peeking over
- 10:59Speaker 5: the balcony and out the windows and stuff.
- 11:01Speaker 1: That's like, wait, that's kind of real. We did that really. Yeah.
- 11:07Speaker 1: When we lived in the house, we had a front
- 11:08Speaker 1: balcony that looked over and if a girl is going
- 11:12Speaker 1: to go on a date, like one of our friends,
- 11:14Speaker 1: he had to come up and like pick her up
- 11:16Speaker 1: from the door and we would all be like standing
- 11:19Speaker 1: on the balcony watching my gosh, yeah a little portion realea,
- 11:25Speaker 1: what's going on?
- 11:26Speaker 5: It was kind of real, Yeah, how cinematic.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Maybe they were inspired.
- 11:34Speaker 3: Yeah, Okay, is it true that some sororities have date
- 11:38Speaker 3: dungeons or secret hookup rooms.
- 11:40Speaker 4: No, No, that is so true.
- 11:43Speaker 6: I would say, like, like not intentionally, but there just
- 11:48Speaker 6: happens to be rooms that like have continuously been like
- 11:52Speaker 6: the hook up.
- 11:53Speaker 2: Room like brand guy.
- 11:55Speaker 4: Well no, like it's like there's like the.
- 11:56Speaker 6: Guest bathroom like in your right, or there's like a
- 12:00Speaker 6: basement like there's just sort of you can.
- 12:03Speaker 7: I don't know, camera is everywhere in that we have
- 12:07Speaker 7: a thing called the date room. But you would just
- 12:10Speaker 7: like it's so old timy again proper. You'd be like,
- 12:13Speaker 7: no one even went in the date room. I'm trying
- 12:14Speaker 7: to think of like good night, but like nobody's doing Like.
- 12:20Speaker 3: We definitely had a basement room that it was like
- 12:22Speaker 3: people want to watch TV.
- 12:24Speaker 4: We had no basement scandal.
- 12:29Speaker 3: Okay, do members really keep secrets for life? Like you
- 12:33Speaker 3: get in trouble if you told.
- 12:35Speaker 4: Yes, I still am afraid if I tell you from
- 12:41Speaker 4: somebody being like you are no longer assistant.
- 12:43Speaker 3: There doesn't there has to be like some like psychological
- 12:46Speaker 3: thing with that, because like it is like a fear.
- 12:49Speaker 2: I feel like a lot of people.
- 12:50Speaker 3: Have like totally like they like engrave like a trust
- 12:53Speaker 3: in you or something.
- 12:53Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel like if you take, they make you
- 12:56Speaker 1: feel so special for being chosen to be in the sorority. Yeah,
- 12:59Speaker 1: like each other kind of thing where I feel like
- 13:02Speaker 1: you just feel like I don't know how to explain it.
- 13:06Speaker 4: It's why we when we created this show, we wanted
- 13:10Speaker 4: people to feel they could be anonymous because all these
- 13:13Speaker 4: things TikTok hulse thing, you know, lifetimes thing, they're never
- 13:18Speaker 4: really good because the people are too afraid to actually
- 13:23Speaker 4: tell their true stories. So that's why we feel like
- 13:26Speaker 4: this podcast is good. Yeah, reviews, we get those too,
- 13:31Speaker 4: but those one of these upcoming episodes will read those.
- 13:34Speaker 4: But we feel like because people are anonymous, they actually
- 13:36Speaker 4: will tell more than they would.
- 13:38Speaker 3: Yeah, otherwise, I think the thing too about being in
- 13:40Speaker 3: a sorority, like it's so fun and I honestly it
- 13:43Speaker 3: helped me so much in college. But like I love
- 13:46Speaker 3: like all my like crazy stories that I have from it.
- 13:49Speaker 3: Like I feel like a lot of people when they
- 13:51Speaker 3: like call in and like talk to It's like these
- 13:53Speaker 3: crazy stories I like happened in their sorority. But a
- 13:55Speaker 3: lot of time people don't want to share them because
- 13:57Speaker 3: they're like, oh, is it bad if I share that?
- 13:59Speaker 2: But I'm like, they're just like fun college stories.
- 14:01Speaker 4: But I do like that I know the password and
- 14:03Speaker 4: I won't name her because she's anonymous, but the girl
- 14:05Speaker 4: next to me, I know she's in my same sorority,
- 14:08Speaker 4: and I know she knows the password, and we kind
- 14:11Speaker 4: of it's like there's a little like extra bond between us.
- 14:14Speaker 3: Yeah, when we first met, you gave me the handshake,
- 14:16Speaker 3: and I have to I almost didn't remember it.
- 14:18Speaker 1: But yeah, that's like a special thing.
- 14:24Speaker 2: Okay, last question.
- 14:25Speaker 3: Do sorority members secretly black lives.
- 14:28Speaker 2: Girls they don't like?
- 14:30Speaker 1: Yes, for sure.
- 14:31Speaker 2: Yeah. I think that's.
- 14:38Speaker 4: So you would stand up in the meeting and say
- 14:41Speaker 4: you would probably say something like, I'm so sorry, guys,
- 14:45Speaker 4: but this is a hometown con because bloody Blah did
- 14:51Speaker 4: bloody bloody.
- 14:52Speaker 1: I like every sorty probably has a system where they
- 14:56Speaker 1: if someone did something really bad in high school, they
- 14:58Speaker 1: find a way to make sure rush team knows.
- 15:01Speaker 6: Yeah, we have that too. It's called the character concerns
- 15:03Speaker 6: because it's like genuinely like if that hypothetical person joins
- 15:06Speaker 6: the house and then makes a bunch of other people
- 15:08Speaker 6: that they know from home uncomfortable, Like if they are
- 15:10Speaker 6: not a good person, then like we don't want them here.
- 15:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:14Speaker 6: It's not like we don't like them because like, oh
- 15:16Speaker 6: they're not pretty or something. It's like if they're a
- 15:18Speaker 6: bad person, yeah, Like we don't want you to be
- 15:20Speaker 6: a part of.
- 15:21Speaker 1: Yeah, because you don't know. Social media has made it
- 15:23Speaker 1: easier now, but back before it was such a big
- 15:26Speaker 1: part of rush. I feel like, you know, you just
- 15:28Speaker 1: kind of have to go based off of other people's
- 15:30Speaker 1: experiences with them, and you kind.
- 15:32Speaker 4: Of have to do do any of your This never
- 15:35Speaker 4: happened in my house, but I heard about it where
- 15:37Speaker 4: girls would steal clothes or jewelry or things from like
- 15:41Speaker 4: someone's room. This never happened in my house. I never
- 15:44Speaker 4: but I did hear about it across the street.
- 15:47Speaker 3: Why do I think I feel like it faintly happened
- 15:49Speaker 3: in mine? I can't fully remember it. Like that sounds
- 15:53Speaker 3: familiar I know with food.
- 15:56Speaker 6: Food still have that with food because we're like a
- 15:58Speaker 6: communal fridge and we found the cold brit no, because
- 16:02Speaker 6: it was just like junior when we were all sophomores,
- 16:04Speaker 6: and like, it's totally fine. But I think she had
- 16:07Speaker 6: this mentality of like, okay, well, if it's not a
- 16:09Speaker 6: girl's food that I know, no one's gonna know. But
- 16:11Speaker 6: then we all would like everyone was separately catching her
- 16:13Speaker 6: eating a food that didn't belong to her.
- 16:15Speaker 4: Like, well, we didn't have locks on the doors. Did
- 16:17Speaker 4: you do you have locks on your bedroom doors?
- 16:19Speaker 5: Oh?
- 16:20Speaker 4: Wait, you could lock it.
- 16:21Speaker 1: You were inside, But we didn't have a key.
- 16:23Speaker 4: Oh yeah, yah, we didn't have Actually I don't think
- 16:24Speaker 4: you could even lock it.
- 16:25Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 16:26Speaker 2: I think it's in the store locked on our house.
- 16:29Speaker 3: It's also like I'm pretty sure we had cameras in
- 16:31Speaker 3: ours in your rooms, not in the rooms.
- 16:33Speaker 2: But like in the hallways.
- 16:35Speaker 1: Our halls didn't like the residence halls didn't have cameras,
- 16:39Speaker 1: but like everyone else in the house did. Even the
- 16:40Speaker 1: stairs had cameras, Like cameras.
- 16:43Speaker 4: Is there any other like roomor or like, I don't know,
- 16:47Speaker 4: do you call it a misnomer? Is that the right word?
- 16:49Speaker 4: Like something that people always think about sororities that are
- 16:52Speaker 4: actually not true. I mean, we didn't have pillow fights,
- 16:56Speaker 4: that's for sure.
- 16:57Speaker 1: We did slide down the stairs with our mattresses like
- 17:00Speaker 1: in the Princess Tire. Yeah, we took our little twin
- 17:05Speaker 1: mattresses off of the bed and like slid down the
- 17:07Speaker 1: stairs one night. But that's not a rumor. That's just
- 17:09Speaker 1: like a funny little memory the way.
- 17:11Speaker 2: That's cute.
- 17:12Speaker 3: Yeah, I think honestly, for me, like beat in a sorority,
- 17:15Speaker 3: like I didn't know much about it, and I was like,
- 17:17Speaker 3: that's so stupid.
- 17:18Speaker 2: I'm never gonna do that.
- 17:21Speaker 3: My roommate was like, will you please like rush with me?
- 17:24Speaker 3: And she paid my like rush fee or whatever to
- 17:27Speaker 3: do it, and I was like, okay, whatever, I'll do it.
- 17:29Speaker 3: And like I have like my favorite times and like
- 17:31Speaker 3: my best memories in it.
- 17:32Speaker 4: Yeah, I would go back on dred percent. Like I'm
- 17:35Speaker 4: hoping that when I'm like eighty, that there's a bunch
- 17:38Speaker 4: of other eighty year old sorority sisters and they're like.
- 17:40Speaker 3: The loon too.
- 17:41Speaker 4: I want to live there again. People all just live
- 17:44Speaker 4: together and play Majahan or something.
- 17:47Speaker 1: I would totally go back. I miss it every day.
- 17:49Speaker 4: Totally me too.
- 18:04Speaker 2: Okay, I actually I have two more questions. Let's do them.
- 18:07Speaker 3: Okay, do you guys think our legacy is guaranteed a spot.
- 18:12Speaker 1: It's not guaranteed, but I think it can help.
- 18:15Speaker 4: Not anymore. But what I know, which I didn't know then,
- 18:18Speaker 4: was because I was a legacy when I made it
- 18:22Speaker 4: to which my mom knew. So I was like on
- 18:24Speaker 4: pref Nite stressing and my mom slept like a baby
- 18:27Speaker 4: because she knew. So it used to be and this
- 18:30Speaker 4: has changed. If you were a legacy and you got
- 18:32Speaker 4: to prefnite, you would be on the top of the list.
- 18:35Speaker 2: Yeah, and they won't cut you you.
- 18:37Speaker 4: Yeah, if you go to prefnite in your legacy, you're in.
- 18:41Speaker 4: But the rusher doesn't know, but the girls in the
- 18:44Speaker 4: house know, and like the mom knew.
- 18:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that's how it was.
- 18:49Speaker 1: I don't think it's like that at almost because there's
- 18:51Speaker 1: like weird glitches that can happen sometimes when like this
- 18:54Speaker 1: girl picks the sorority and that sorority picks her and
- 18:58Speaker 1: something I actually know for that's happened a few people
- 19:01Speaker 1: and then and it doesn't work and then they get dropped.
- 19:04Speaker 4: You also couldn't get dropped on the first day if
- 19:06Speaker 4: you were a legacy in my era, it's not that.
- 19:10Speaker 3: I think probably like that for a lot so crazy
- 19:12Speaker 3: sense you were in your a sorority and then your
- 19:15Speaker 3: little sister is in the same one.
- 19:16Speaker 2: Was she considered a legacy or does it have to
- 19:18Speaker 2: be your mom?
- 19:19Speaker 1: I think she was considered legacy and sister, that's like
- 19:24Speaker 1: the strongest there is.
- 19:25Speaker 4: But if you're an in house sister, it is the strongest.
- 19:29Speaker 1: But there are stories, and there are girls. I know
- 19:31Speaker 1: of a couple on the top of my head and
- 19:33Speaker 1: how sister stuff went down.
- 19:36Speaker 4: Archerie over there, what's your name?
- 19:38Speaker 5: I don't remember? Morgan Morgan Morgan yeahened my younger sister.
- 19:46Speaker 1: They dropped her right off.
- 19:48Speaker 5: And you want to know why I think that was
- 19:50Speaker 5: is because her ro gamma was in my sorority. She
- 19:54Speaker 5: did know that, and she told her, oh, I'm open
- 19:57Speaker 5: to doing anything, not even that she didn't want to
- 19:59Speaker 5: go my but just that she was open to exploring
- 20:02Speaker 5: other options too. And after the next round.
- 20:06Speaker 4: Do you think rogans and roquies are calling the house
- 20:09Speaker 4: and like breaking the rules?
- 20:10Speaker 1: Because I never thought, okay, it's a big problem. Really, Yeah,
- 20:16Speaker 1: they're snitches. I always feel like the girls that did
- 20:21Speaker 1: that were very like they weren't that involved in their sorority.
- 20:28Speaker 1: They were trying to find a home elsewhere, but like
- 20:31Speaker 1: they liked their sorority. I don't know how to explain it.
- 20:34Speaker 2: WHOA, that makes sense.
- 20:36Speaker 1: Maybe they were I think they were devoted to their
- 20:39Speaker 1: job where they were like, you will never find out
- 20:41Speaker 1: what sperrity I'm in. I don't know. I have a
- 20:44Speaker 1: question for you. See I'm ready.
- 20:47Speaker 2: Do you guys think they should be guaranteed a spot legacy?
- 20:50Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 20:51Speaker 4: See, I do. I think they should bring the legacy
- 20:52Speaker 4: thing back. I think it's like a bummer that that's
- 20:55Speaker 4: not around anymore, because it doesn't mean you're automatically in,
- 20:58Speaker 4: But there was something I like about the tradition of
- 21:01Speaker 4: that and the whole legacy of what the sorority is.
- 21:11Speaker 1: No, I agree, I think that they can be like
- 21:14Speaker 1: noticed as a legacy, which they I think still are.
- 21:16Speaker 1: But I don't think you should like to guarantee.
- 21:19Speaker 4: But if you get to prep I do like that
- 21:22Speaker 4: you would get to go on the top of the list.
- 21:23Speaker 4: I mean there's something about it. I like.
- 21:25Speaker 1: Yeah, Okay, my question for you is and they've done
- 21:28Speaker 1: away with it now. But do you recall during rush,
- 21:32Speaker 1: the active member would go out and yell out to
- 21:36Speaker 1: the P and M the potential new member, and they
- 21:41Speaker 1: would pick based off of who is liked the most
- 21:44Speaker 1: in order. Does that make sense?
- 21:47Speaker 4: Explain it?
- 21:48Speaker 1: Explain it more so, I'm the active member, and y'all
- 21:51Speaker 1: are the p and ms?
- 21:52Speaker 4: Are we pledges already? Are this is okay?
- 21:56Speaker 1: And I? Instead of going in alphabetic order, which is
- 21:59Speaker 1: how they do it now, they would call out their
- 22:01Speaker 1: like favorite girl, so they'd be like so and so,
- 22:05Speaker 1: and then toward the end of the line, like you
- 22:06Speaker 1: could tell this house didn't really like you because you
- 22:09Speaker 1: were like, oh.
- 22:10Speaker 4: No, I don't know anything about that.
- 22:12Speaker 1: They didn't do that for y'all.
- 22:13Speaker 4: We knew was as like rushies. We were called rushi's.
- 22:18Speaker 4: Like if a bunch of actives were coming over, so
- 22:21Speaker 4: you know, you're sitting throughout the ass and like bump
- 22:23Speaker 4: groups are going. If a lot of actives were coming
- 22:26Speaker 4: over and like oh yay, oh hey, you know, or
- 22:29Speaker 4: Susan told me to come say hey, I think you
- 22:31Speaker 4: kind of got a feeling like, oh I think this
- 22:33Speaker 4: is going okay? For me, I think this is going
- 22:35Speaker 4: well here.
- 22:36Speaker 1: And they still do that for sure, but yeah when
- 22:39Speaker 1: they so I don't know how they did it for y'all,
- 22:41Speaker 1: but you stand outside of the house. All the rushies
- 22:43Speaker 1: stand outside of the house, and then members from they
- 22:47Speaker 1: run out and they go John Doe, Rain Do, Jane
- 22:55Speaker 1: Doe and then she like runs up. But usually it's
- 22:58Speaker 1: like a to Z. But I and this may just
- 23:01Speaker 1: be a rumor.
- 23:01Speaker 2: Wait, why do I know? I think something like that
- 23:03Speaker 2: happens at San Diego, say.
- 23:05Speaker 1: Where they would be like, oh, we think Daisy at
- 23:07Speaker 1: the topnt.
- 23:08Speaker 2: Of the house.
- 23:09Speaker 1: Yeah, you like stand outside group, Yeah, and you're just
- 23:12Speaker 1: standing to welcome back.
- 23:14Speaker 2: Yeah, yes, yes, yes that's what it is.
- 23:16Speaker 4: Oh, I don't remember this at all. I just remember
- 23:18Speaker 4: all walking in in a big clump.
- 23:20Speaker 6: Well you know, you.
- 23:20Speaker 1: Would stand in lines, which it was in alphabetic order
- 23:23Speaker 1: for us. But if way back when, I don't know
- 23:25Speaker 1: if it's a rumor or not, but they're like, oh
- 23:27Speaker 1: Daisy can't like we really need to like show her
- 23:29Speaker 1: we love her. They call her name.
- 23:33Speaker 3: Like I'm so excited to talk again to Daisy Kent
- 23:36Speaker 3: and then I'd like walk up.
- 23:37Speaker 1: Is that what y'all would do our just be we'd
- 23:39Speaker 1: like scream the name as lot as we could, and
- 23:40Speaker 1: then you got dirty rushed. I did, Yeah, you did, well, idiot,
- 23:47Speaker 1: it was it was just a fee.
- 23:48Speaker 6: Actually, they like this is like dramatic maybe not dirty rush,
- 23:51Speaker 6: but they just like DMed me on Instagram and apparently
- 23:54Speaker 6: DMed like a bunch of girls maybe looking at the
- 23:56Speaker 6: like class of twenty twenty whatever.
- 23:58Speaker 4: This is during rush.
- 23:59Speaker 6: This was right before I wanted to make sure that
- 24:02Speaker 6: you sent in the application to show you interest in
- 24:04Speaker 6: rushing if you have any questions, like let me know
- 24:07Speaker 6: And they say in the message like they're kind of
- 24:09Speaker 6: they're not alluding to like, oh, join like our sorority,
- 24:12Speaker 6: but they're just like like it's obviously kind of you
- 24:14Speaker 6: can imply like, okay, this girl in the sorority is
- 24:16Speaker 6: dming me, then like maybe they're nice, maybe I'll join them.
- 24:19Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:19Speaker 4: I can't remember if I told the story, but I
- 24:21Speaker 4: definitely got phone calls during rush. I don't want to
- 24:24Speaker 4: out one of my like literally oldest friends still and
- 24:27Speaker 4: she would call my because I lived in a different
- 24:30Speaker 4: not you know, I lived in a different place. We
- 24:33Speaker 4: didn't live in the sorority our freshman year, so we
- 24:35Speaker 4: all listen more and the phone would ring landline. We
- 24:37Speaker 4: didn't even have cell phones, and the voice would say
- 24:41Speaker 4: say hi mom, and I was like, well, hi mom,
- 24:45Speaker 4: but it was the girl calling from the house to
- 24:48Speaker 4: find out like to get dirt, like okay, wow, who
- 24:52Speaker 4: likes us? What's happening?
- 24:55Speaker 1: Tell us?
- 24:55Speaker 4: Who likes us?
- 24:57Speaker 2: Interesting?
- 24:58Speaker 4: So I was like, I'll tell you everything. And I
- 25:00Speaker 4: still was not like realizing like I'm in. I still
- 25:03Speaker 4: was like very nervous, like I hope they take me.
- 25:05Speaker 4: And then I was like I should have put two
- 25:07Speaker 4: and two together.
- 25:08Speaker 1: They wouldn't let us bring our phones. That's something that's
- 25:10Speaker 1: different from then verse Now we had to leave our phones,
- 25:14Speaker 1: Like in our dorm room, we could not bring our phones.
- 25:17Speaker 1: And when we would go and do ranking at the
- 25:18Speaker 1: end of the day, you could not say a peep
- 25:21Speaker 1: in line. So there was like one time where I
- 25:24Speaker 1: got but now now you do it on your phone.
- 25:28Speaker 1: Like it was crazy. Yeah. We went to this big
- 25:32Speaker 1: like big yeah classroom and I accidentally like bumped into
- 25:37Speaker 1: a girl and I was like, oh sorry, and the lady.
- 25:40Speaker 4: Was like, Doc, do you guys know what a scam
- 25:42Speaker 4: tron is Yeah, I think we filled it out on
- 25:45Speaker 4: a scam tron.
- 25:46Speaker 1: I think we kind of did too. Oh whoa, yeah, no,
- 25:51Speaker 1: I think we behind old.
- 25:53Speaker 4: Miss I remember filling out bubbles. I think scam.
- 25:57Speaker 1: I want to say we did something very similar to that, Like, yeah,
- 26:01Speaker 1: I was on paper.
- 26:03Speaker 4: B you know, making like fifty checks to make sure
- 26:06Speaker 4: I was not blowing the scantron. I don't know why
- 26:08Speaker 4: that's what I think, but that's like what my memory
- 26:10Speaker 4: is thinking. I could be risky, Like yes.
- 26:13Speaker 2: You're definitely like your preferences could like disappear or be changed.
- 26:18Speaker 4: Or like a pencil. I know, Yeah, that sounds risky
- 26:20Speaker 4: to me.
- 26:21Speaker 2: We were.
- 26:21Speaker 4: We did ours on the computer, but we didn't have
- 26:24Speaker 4: computers in the nineties like there. We didn't have cell
- 26:28Speaker 4: phones and we didn't have computers. I had like an
- 26:31Speaker 4: Apple tube likes into rocks. Yeah, like Wilma Finstone. I
- 26:36Speaker 4: was like, okay, want Kappa into the sh a.
- 26:40Speaker 2: Chiesepit in there? Well this was dirty. Okay everyone.
