- 0:03Speaker 1: The Recket Recket.
- 0:08Speaker 2: I'm here, Hey everybody, Welcome back to the Vikings Tailgate,
- 0:16Speaker 2: brought to you by Ticketmaster, the official ticket marketplace of
- 0:19Speaker 2: the Minnesota Vikings. I'm your host, sy Amensen, and we
- 0:22Speaker 2: hope you all had a fantastic holiday season. Just like you,
- 0:27Speaker 2: We've been enjoying some time with our families, but we
- 0:29Speaker 2: still wanted to give you a little best of the
- 0:32Speaker 2: show in case you missed some of our favorite guests
- 0:35Speaker 2: of the season. First up, you're gonna hear from comedy
- 0:38Speaker 2: legend Jeff Foxworthy about his insane son in law, who
- 0:42Speaker 2: is a huge Vikings fan. Jeff also has a grandson
- 0:45Speaker 2: who already knows the school chance. You're you're gonna love
- 0:48Speaker 2: that segment. And then, secondly, one of the biggest up
- 0:51Speaker 2: and coming names in all of comedy, Adam Ray, who
- 0:54Speaker 2: is currently on his Doctor Phil Live Comedy tour. He's
- 0:57Speaker 2: gonna be coming to Minneapolis. He's a longtime friend of
- 1:00Speaker 2: Sam Darnold. You're really gonna love our conversation with him. Finally,
- 1:04Speaker 2: we hope you have a safe and wonderful rest of
- 1:06Speaker 2: your holiday season, and most importantly, that the Vikings get
- 1:10Speaker 2: the big win this weekend. Enjoy the show. Everybody, Ladies
- 1:13Speaker 2: and gentlemen, please welcome the one and only Jeff Foxworthy.
- 1:18Speaker 1: I'm excited to be here. I'm always loved Minnesota. I
- 1:23Speaker 1: did my last comedy special there. I always love playing
- 1:26Speaker 1: up there. And my football team has broken my heart
- 1:30Speaker 1: so much that the Vikings are, you know how you
- 1:32Speaker 1: always have to have like the second team because I'm
- 1:37Speaker 1: a Falcons fan. I grew up in Atlanta, but they've
- 1:41Speaker 1: gutted me so bad that the Vikings are my fallback team.
- 1:45Speaker 1: And my youngest daughter married into a family of insane scoldiers,
- 1:52Speaker 1: so you guys are my backup team. So this actually,
- 1:57Speaker 1: this weekend's kind of hard for me.
- 1:59Speaker 2: So as your son, And is he from Minnesota originally
- 2:01Speaker 2: or is he one of these places that his family
- 2:03Speaker 2: was and then they grew up somewhere else.
- 2:06Speaker 1: He and his forty five cousins, all of their aunts
- 2:09Speaker 1: and uncles are from Minnesota.
- 2:10Speaker 2: I'm catching strays with that one. Jeff as a man
- 2:13Speaker 2: who's got a mom with eight brothers and sisters, and
- 2:16Speaker 2: I have a but you hit it on the head.
- 2:18Speaker 2: Is he Swedish too? Is he a giant Nordic Swedish person.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Now he's Irish poorly, but they're all they're all Minnesota people.
- 2:28Speaker 1: I mean they're Twins fans, they're Vikes fans. He's taught
- 2:32Speaker 1: my grandson. He's three now, but I found him last year.
- 2:36Speaker 1: He's two years old, two years old, down at my
- 2:39Speaker 1: farm in the middle of a field, and I videotaped
- 2:42Speaker 1: him singing the Vikings fight song.
- 2:44Speaker 3: Two years old, every word of it, at.
- 2:46Speaker 1: The top of his lungs with it. Because we had
- 2:50Speaker 1: to negotiate because he was a Vikings and a Notre
- 2:54Speaker 1: Dame fan.
- 2:54Speaker 3: Another one that would break your heart.
- 2:57Speaker 1: And I was a Bulldogs and a Falcons fan, so
- 2:59Speaker 1: two more that break your heart. So before he was born,
- 3:03Speaker 1: we had serious negotiations and who was going to get
- 3:07Speaker 1: the college team and one was gonna get pro and
- 3:09Speaker 1: one was gonna get college.
- 3:11Speaker 2: I think you made the right decision.
- 3:13Speaker 3: I think I did too.
- 3:14Speaker 1: But now, like in pro, the NFC North is like
- 3:17Speaker 1: the SEC.
- 3:20Speaker 3: In the NFC South, it's kind of like the Sun Belt.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Now, yeah, there's a little easier.
- 3:26Speaker 3: Nobody wants to win the conference.
- 3:29Speaker 2: Are they down? Are they near you in Atlanta?
- 3:31Speaker 3: Yeah? Yeah?
- 3:33Speaker 2: Do you guys get together or do you commiserate afterwards.
- 3:37Speaker 1: It depends on how big the game is. If it's
- 3:40Speaker 1: a really big one, he'll go into a shell. And
- 3:43Speaker 1: he's got a one year old and a three year old,
- 3:45Speaker 1: so I kind of clear space for him. I'm running
- 3:50Speaker 1: like his wing and he'll tell me first the wait
- 3:53Speaker 1: look Sunday, I gotta have I gotta be all it.
- 3:56Speaker 3: Can you take the kids?
- 3:58Speaker 2: You're his NFL babysitter wing man.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Yeah, I've got footage of him, like when the Vikings
- 4:06Speaker 1: win in the last second.
- 4:07Speaker 3: Well, I was with him in the car the other
- 4:10Speaker 3: day when he lost his mind.
- 4:12Speaker 1: But this dude like rips his shirt off, is out
- 4:16Speaker 1: in the front yard beating past screaming skull. He loses
- 4:24Speaker 1: his mind and then like in eighteen I can't remember
- 4:28Speaker 1: who they lost to, but he announced he was going
- 4:31Speaker 1: on a hunger strike. He was as down as I've
- 4:34Speaker 1: ever so I literally I went to Honey Baked Ham
- 4:37Speaker 1: and got him a Honey Baked Ham sandwich and soup
- 4:40Speaker 1: and took.
- 4:41Speaker 2: It over there. So he was sick.
- 4:43Speaker 1: So he yeah, like he has pneumonia because the Vikings lost,
- 4:48Speaker 1: and I'm in there like, dude, you got to eat,
- 4:50Speaker 1: you got to eat. Now I will tell you this
- 4:55Speaker 1: as an outsider looking in Okay, probably as a Vikings fan,
- 5:00Speaker 1: and it's it's a lifetime of frustration. But I think
- 5:04Speaker 1: other people look at y'all is one of the top
- 5:07Speaker 1: tier football.
- 5:08Speaker 3: Teams because you have been.
- 5:11Speaker 1: Always think of the Vikings like the Vikings. Oh, the
- 5:15Speaker 1: Vikings are good. The Vikings are good. I never think
- 5:18Speaker 1: of them as a bad team. I always think of
- 5:21Speaker 1: the Vikings as being good. But it's like you.
- 5:23Speaker 3: Get right up to the top of the thing and
- 5:26Speaker 3: then find a way.
- 5:27Speaker 2: To fall off the mountain. We hang out on the mountain,
- 5:31Speaker 2: but we like to fall out.
- 5:32Speaker 1: Yeah, you guys, you've got that falcon thing where they
- 5:38Speaker 1: know how to break your heart. Yeah, you guys are
- 5:41Speaker 1: such good fans. You'll come back the next week and
- 5:44Speaker 1: you know, be right there. But maybe this is the year.
- 5:48Speaker 1: I mean, your defense, your defense is so much better
- 5:52Speaker 1: wild and this I think this iteration of the Vikings.
- 5:56Speaker 1: This team has hard and and to me, that's the
- 6:01Speaker 1: difference in great teams and teams that aren't.
- 6:06Speaker 2: That both the belief in those moments that you're going
- 6:08Speaker 2: to figure it out.
- 6:09Speaker 1: And I think this team has that more than the
- 6:12Speaker 1: Vikings have had in recent years. Dude, I don't think
- 6:15Speaker 1: there's anybody that wouldn't take your head coach. I think O'Connell.
- 6:21Speaker 1: I mean, what a great surprise. He's been right and
- 6:26Speaker 1: hell I would take him today. Nothing again Raheem Morris.
- 6:29Speaker 1: But I think he's going to be around for a
- 6:32Speaker 1: long time. And I I just feel like you guys
- 6:36Speaker 1: are on the on the right track.
- 6:39Speaker 2: It's weird, it's and it's funny until you win the
- 6:43Speaker 2: big one for the first time, which neither of us
- 6:45Speaker 2: have experienced. I think you don't trust anything. And so
- 6:49Speaker 2: even at ten and two, you feel this interesting. I
- 6:52Speaker 2: was home over Thanksgiving spending time, I was at the
- 6:55Speaker 2: game on Sunday. You feel this odd combo energy of
- 7:00Speaker 2: this is so great? Oh no, how's it going to end?
- 7:03Speaker 2: It just permeates through people.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Well see, I'm that way, like I'm a Georgia Bulldogs fan.
- 7:10Speaker 1: So we we had not won the Natty since nineteen
- 7:14Speaker 1: eighty with herschel Walk, forty one years, and you know,
- 7:19Speaker 1: then we played Bamman like seventeen and they in overtime
- 7:25Speaker 1: beat us, and then the Falcons turn around twenty eight
- 7:29Speaker 1: to three and lose.
- 7:30Speaker 3: I get it.
- 7:32Speaker 1: It's like, so I actually I was not going to
- 7:35Speaker 1: go to the Bulldogs. I'm like, all right, I've wasted
- 7:38Speaker 1: too much money going to these games.
- 7:40Speaker 3: But in twenty one when they.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Played in Indianapolis, and then like the week of the game,
- 7:45Speaker 1: me and my brother and my two buddies couldn't stand it.
- 7:48Speaker 3: And so we drive up.
- 7:50Speaker 1: To Indianapolis and we win the Natty and I told
- 7:52Speaker 1: my I called my son in law. I said, it's
- 7:54Speaker 1: worth it for all the heartbreak, this may be the
- 7:58Speaker 1: greatest moment of my life. And you guys, see, I'm
- 8:02Speaker 1: old enough to remember as a kid the Purple People
- 8:06Speaker 1: Eaters and it was like, you guys just kept going
- 8:09Speaker 1: to the Super Bowl and could never win it. And
- 8:15Speaker 1: and then I was it ninety nine.
- 8:17Speaker 2: Into ninety nine when you guys, when you guys crushed
- 8:20Speaker 2: my soul as a child.
- 8:22Speaker 1: Well, we had to come up there and play you there,
- 8:26Speaker 1: and I thought, we're going to get our teeth kicked in.
- 8:29Speaker 3: There's so much better than us, That's what.
- 8:32Speaker 2: But that's what I've been telling everybody this year when
- 8:34Speaker 2: they worry that the egos are the lions, and I
- 8:36Speaker 2: got you just never know in one game if you're
- 8:41Speaker 2: if you're some version of good, you just never know.
- 8:44Speaker 1: Yeah, especially you know, that's kind of what I'm going
- 8:47Speaker 1: through in college this season with Georgia, because they can
- 8:51Speaker 1: look unbeatable and they can look horrible. Because we were
- 8:55Speaker 1: talking about it and I thought, you know, the Lions
- 8:58Speaker 1: are playing so good that it's probably going to end
- 9:02Speaker 1: up being the Falcons.
- 9:06Speaker 3: And the Bikes in the playoffs.
- 9:08Speaker 1: In the playoffs, and so Arthur Blank invited me and
- 9:13Speaker 1: my son in law Brendan down to watch the game.
- 9:15Speaker 3: And he's so funny because he's.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Sitting there at the I mean, we're in Arthur Sweet
- 9:19Speaker 1: on the fifty yard line and he's watching the Bikes
- 9:21Speaker 1: on his phone between his legs, and so I'm like, dude,
- 9:28Speaker 1: let's go, Let's go watch Kirk and because this is
- 9:32Speaker 1: gonna end God, we played awful last week like the Chargers,
- 9:37Speaker 1: and just just so now.
- 9:39Speaker 3: I don't know, the Bucks are on a roll.
- 9:41Speaker 1: So yeah, maybe you guys end up with the Bucks,
- 9:44Speaker 1: but what do you guys have won like five straight.
- 9:47Speaker 1: I really like this football team.
- 9:50Speaker 3: And I like Darno.
- 9:52Speaker 1: You know, when Matt Ryan when we were going through
- 9:55Speaker 1: all that, and he was kind of the guy I
- 9:58Speaker 1: always thought this guy hasn't shown what he can do.
- 10:03Speaker 3: I think he's better, and obviously he is.
- 10:08Speaker 1: I mean, Koc is like a such a good quarterback,
- 10:12Speaker 1: and so when Sam went to you guys, I thought, well,
- 10:15Speaker 1: at least he's going to get a fair shot with
- 10:18Speaker 1: a good team to see if and I think he's
- 10:22Speaker 1: been fabulous this year.
- 10:24Speaker 2: Stick around after the break for our other guest, Adam Ray.

- 11:10Speaker 2: and gentlemen, we are joined by the Great Adam Ray.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Thanks for joining us.
- 11:15Speaker 4: Man, happy to be here.
- 11:17Speaker 5: First time caller, longtime listener. Your beer looks great. Just
- 11:21Speaker 5: does the carpet match the drapes? That's where everybody wants
- 11:24Speaker 5: to know.
- 11:25Speaker 2: It's very I'm oscillating between guy in a cult and
- 11:30Speaker 2: guy you wouldn't want to be your wife's yoga teacher.
- 11:33Speaker 2: That's where I have entered into the era where I
- 11:36Speaker 2: am wearing one of these women's headbands like a European
- 11:39Speaker 2: soccer player. And it's not you would not like the
- 11:43Speaker 2: version of me that exists right now. Absolutely not.
- 11:46Speaker 4: Well I'll tell you who would love that. What's your
- 11:48Speaker 4: mascot's name? The Viking.
- 11:50Speaker 2: I'm gonna get fired for my show, Victor Victor, the Victor,
- 11:53Speaker 2: the Viking.
- 11:54Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, but you know it's like, you know, the
- 11:57Speaker 5: Clippers have like what Paulie the pair It or Peter
- 12:01Speaker 5: the Plican.
- 12:02Speaker 2: Or something that has nothing to do with clipping.
- 12:04Speaker 4: Yeah, they should move to Seattle anyway.
- 12:06Speaker 2: The only one I remember is the Chargers mascot, which
- 12:10Speaker 2: is Bolt, who's a lightning bolt that when you take
- 12:12Speaker 2: his glasses off, looks like he's been huffing dried up
- 12:16Speaker 2: red bull.
- 12:17Speaker 4: Like it's well, who hasn't done that.
- 12:19Speaker 2: Yeah, he's a wild He's a wild looking dude.
- 12:22Speaker 4: I mean, let me ask you this, Sam.
- 12:25Speaker 5: When I was in uh Minnesota in September, and you know,
- 12:29Speaker 5: he was maybe two games. You guys were maybe three
- 12:31Speaker 5: and oh or or four to oh, and you were
- 12:34Speaker 5: definitely rolling. And but it was so early that he
- 12:37Speaker 5: was like, you know, we we we love it here
- 12:39Speaker 5: and you know we we don't know everyone's telling me
- 12:42Speaker 5: to brave for the winner, and we don't know what
- 12:44Speaker 5: we're getting ourselves into. But but he's like, you know,
- 12:46Speaker 5: it's great, We're clicking. Jefferson's one of the best, you
- 12:49Speaker 5: know guys I've ever played with, and kept saying how
- 12:51Speaker 5: he got his PhD in football at San fran and
- 12:54Speaker 5: just really you know, grew up and matured and learned that,
- 12:56Speaker 5: like because I was like I keep hearing this on
- 12:59Speaker 5: in the meeting. Yeah, but like when you hear from
- 13:01Speaker 5: a source and he's like, well, dude, I just like
- 13:02Speaker 5: got to a place was like, oh, I don't have
- 13:04Speaker 5: to like force things and like it's okay to like
- 13:07Speaker 5: eat the ball or throw it away and like get
- 13:09Speaker 5: it on the next one. He's like, but everybody, you
- 13:11Speaker 5: feel so much pressure to like make something happen on
- 13:13Speaker 5: every play, and he's like, once I kind of like
- 13:16Speaker 5: subscribe to that.
- 13:16Speaker 4: It's kind of calmed him down.
- 13:18Speaker 5: And and and you know, obviously like faith and trust
- 13:21Speaker 5: to be able to sit in the pocket like that
- 13:22Speaker 5: goes a long way. But he was like, uh, yeah,
- 13:24Speaker 5: we'll see. He's like, I gotta keep balling out and
- 13:26Speaker 5: they got to want to like keep me. So I
- 13:28Speaker 5: can't imagine the conversation over there is anything but how
- 13:32Speaker 5: much and how long? Because like, and you know, it's
- 13:34Speaker 5: not like you have to get rid of McCarthy, but
- 13:36Speaker 5: unless you want to trade him to my Seahawks. But like,
- 13:39Speaker 5: if you guys didn't resign Sam, I would I would.
- 13:42Speaker 5: I think I would think the fan base would be like, what,
- 13:44Speaker 5: what's the move here?
- 13:45Speaker 2: It's really interesting because I mean, he has universal like
- 13:50Speaker 2: approval rating here and as he should, and it's been
- 13:53Speaker 2: so so fun to watch him play. I remember, you
- 13:56Speaker 2: know you're talking September. I remember being at camp this
- 14:00Speaker 2: summer and this is before it's open to the public.
- 14:02Speaker 2: His presence was one of, Oh, this is just a dude.
- 14:07Speaker 2: This is just a dude who like I'm I mean,
- 14:10Speaker 2: unassuming in the best way, right. He could walk by
- 14:13Speaker 2: you in a hallway with a couple of other players
- 14:15Speaker 2: and it wouldn't like switch the room, you know what
- 14:18Speaker 2: I'm saying. He was just there. You could tell he
- 14:21Speaker 2: came in really excited off of San Francisco to be
- 14:25Speaker 2: in a situation with koc Here. It's almost amazing to
- 14:29Speaker 2: think it's the same a similar offense as the last
- 14:32Speaker 2: couple of years. Because when you see this dude's arm
- 14:34Speaker 2: as somebody who loves a comeback and like a vindication story. Dude,
- 14:39Speaker 2: it's so cool. I can't imagine there's a guy in
- 14:41Speaker 2: the NFL and I'm biased, but that that has a
- 14:45Speaker 2: better route for him. Fact.
- 14:47Speaker 4: Oh yeah, dude, yeah he I mean he also just
- 14:49Speaker 4: is doubt in.
- 14:50Speaker 5: I mean I tried to get him to go to
- 14:52Speaker 5: the show on that Friday night before you guys were
- 14:55Speaker 5: in Green Bay and and he was like, dude, I
- 14:57Speaker 5: gotta be asleep by nine because we got this in
- 14:59Speaker 5: the MO And I was just like, dude, get after it, man.
- 15:02Speaker 5: I mean, he just was like, he was showing us
- 15:04Speaker 5: plays and he read a few and they made no sense.
- 15:08Speaker 4: I mean, he read one play that he would read
- 15:09Speaker 4: in the huddle.
- 15:10Speaker 5: And it was like qx five you know, qan On
- 15:13Speaker 5: Panera times five, Baron Trump, bar mitzvah sidekick break.
- 15:19Speaker 4: And I was like, dude, there's no way I can
- 15:21Speaker 4: remember any of that.
- 15:22Speaker 5: And he said it's so articulately and casually, and I
- 15:25Speaker 5: was like, man, this like but I guess it's like,
- 15:28Speaker 5: you know, it's a comedy. Like he's probably like, how
- 15:30Speaker 5: do you memorize your jokes? How do you write an act?
- 15:32Speaker 4: How do you whatever?
- 15:33Speaker 5: But I know how you know, well, revered Sam is,
- 15:38Speaker 5: but yeah, he's he's just a bud man.
- 15:40Speaker 2: The other reason people need to go to your Instagram
- 15:43Speaker 2: is cause your homeboy, Sam Darnold literally is wearing an
- 15:49Speaker 2: Adam Ray as Doctor Phil hooded sweatshirt on his way
- 15:53Speaker 2: to the Monday night white out game against Chicago Bears.
- 15:56Speaker 2: I know, like, you get to this point where your
- 15:58Speaker 2: career grows, you get to do these cool thing Steelers do,
- 16:01Speaker 2: it's still gotta be a weird moment, like because they
- 16:03Speaker 2: just become your friends and stuff. You're like, hey, the
- 16:05Speaker 2: starting NFL quarterback, who's you know, weren't it not for
- 16:09Speaker 2: Josh Allen is probably the in the MVP conversation right now,
- 16:13Speaker 2: just has my silly comedy hooded sweatshirt on that hat.
- 16:16Speaker 2: That's such a cool thing when you think about who
- 16:18Speaker 2: you were as a kid and where you are now.
- 16:21Speaker 4: Yeah, it's it's cool.
- 16:22Speaker 5: But it's also he's a big comedy fan, so it's like,
- 16:25Speaker 5: you know, it's he had been following me for a
- 16:27Speaker 5: little bit when we first met, and so for him too,
- 16:29Speaker 5: he takes ownership and seeing me kind of you know,
- 16:33Speaker 5: have a cool last couple of years and just you know,
- 16:35Speaker 5: have things kind of elevating a more fun direction. And yeah,
- 16:39Speaker 5: and so and I'm you know, almost like a supportive
- 16:42Speaker 5: mom the way I messaged him sometimes after certain things
- 16:45Speaker 5: that he does. And yeah, that was a sweet shout out.
- 16:48Speaker 5: And he was looking like a snack, so that didn't hurt.
- 16:49Speaker 5: You know, got to show the people of Minnesota that,
- 16:53Speaker 5: you know, Aaron Rodgers isn't the only you know, guy
- 16:56Speaker 5: out there that's that you know, looks like you could
- 16:58Speaker 5: be Brad Pitt's cousin. Yeah, it's it's awesome, man. And
- 17:02Speaker 5: the doctor Phil Merch is so fun and it's trying
- 17:06Speaker 5: to get Sammy to stick around hopefully and pop by
- 17:10Speaker 5: that Orpheum show. But he might be back in the
- 17:12Speaker 5: OC at that point. But but who knows, if you
- 17:15Speaker 5: guys take care of business, he might just you know,
- 17:17Speaker 5: he might just.
- 17:18Speaker 2: They might just have to pave cement over him and
- 17:21Speaker 2: turn him into a statue.
- 17:22Speaker 5: That's what I'm saying, Dude, put the statue down now
- 17:25Speaker 5: and let him know how much.
- 17:26Speaker 2: You care if the Vikings ever win a Super Bowl
- 17:29Speaker 2: and if there's any sort of defining moment in that
- 17:32Speaker 2: Super Bowl run, the amount of like I think there'll
- 17:35Speaker 2: be a city council moving like we're gonna do a
- 17:37Speaker 2: lot of statues. We're just gonna, you know, it'll look
- 17:40Speaker 2: like when they dig up like those terra Cotta warriors
- 17:42Speaker 2: and an ancient civilization. That's what Minneapolis will look like
- 17:46Speaker 2: when somebody finds our city fifty thousand years from now.
- 17:49Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 17:50Speaker 2: Yeah, just a bunch of Sam Darnold's just with their
- 17:53Speaker 2: you know, just with their their helmet in their hand
- 17:55Speaker 2: all over the place.
- 17:57Speaker 4: Dude.
- 17:57Speaker 5: It's also cool that, you know, Sam, you know, looks
- 18:00Speaker 5: like he's not old enough to be in the you know,
- 18:03Speaker 5: stadium without his parents, so that I think growing the
- 18:06Speaker 5: beard was a sweet move on his part.
- 18:07Speaker 2: Everyone moved.
- 18:09Speaker 5: When you have a beard like that and you still
- 18:10Speaker 5: got like, you know, a young, affable vibe to you.
- 18:13Speaker 5: But Sam's got this clean cut, you know, California vibe
- 18:16Speaker 5: too that I think everyone's vibing with. And there is
- 18:19Speaker 5: a laid back style to him as a person that
- 18:22Speaker 5: definitely I see translating on the field ob asolutely.
- 18:25Speaker 4: He's in go mode. You guys are lucky, you know.
- 18:28Speaker 5: I always ask people this when you get close and
- 18:31Speaker 5: don't make it, would you rather that or like not
- 18:34Speaker 5: even have that? Because like the Seahawks, we've gone. I
- 18:36Speaker 5: think we went ten years in a row to the
- 18:38Speaker 5: playoffs with Russ after the Super Bowls and it was
- 18:41Speaker 5: awesome because every Sunday mattered, and that's all I asked
- 18:43Speaker 5: for as a fan is like to be in a
- 18:46Speaker 5: place to where like you can watch the games and
- 18:48Speaker 5: actually get a little emotionally invested, which is tricky for fans.
- 18:52Speaker 5: I remember when the Seahawks won the first Super Bowl
- 18:54Speaker 5: in twenty thirteen and I went with my boy Brad Williams,
- 18:57Speaker 5: who's a dire Broncos fan. He's also a Dwarf, and
- 18:59Speaker 5: was sitting there and it was like fifteen to nothing,
- 19:01Speaker 5: and then Percy Harvin ran back the kickoff to start
- 19:04Speaker 5: the second half.
- 19:04Speaker 4: Brad looks down.
- 19:05Speaker 5: I take a picture he was about to cry, and
- 19:07Speaker 5: he goes, you might not want to post that. If
- 19:09Speaker 5: a Dwarf cries at the super Bowl and it's public,
- 19:11Speaker 5: it's seven years bad luck. And I was like, so funny,
- 19:14Speaker 5: And I forgot how emotionally invested you get into your
- 19:17Speaker 5: team as a fan to where I was like accepting
- 19:19Speaker 5: partial responsibility.
- 19:21Speaker 4: People were like, dude, congrats on the super Bowl. Congrats.
- 19:23Speaker 5: I had no problem accepting partial like response, I was like, dude,
- 19:26Speaker 5: thank you man. Those fifteen beers I had a half
- 19:28Speaker 5: I think gave Marshawn the extra boost he needed. But
- 19:31Speaker 5: you guys probably have that same delusion where you're like,
- 19:34Speaker 5: we are a reason the team stays consistent.
- 19:38Speaker 4: But I also think that there's a lot of truth
- 19:41Speaker 4: to that. You know.
- 19:42Speaker 2: To go back to your original question, which would I
- 19:44Speaker 2: rather have? I think I'd rather be close because I'm
- 19:46Speaker 2: like you, I like to be invested in something you know,
- 19:49Speaker 2: because otherwise you get apathetic. But I also think the
- 19:53Speaker 2: secondary answer to that, which is something that you have,
- 19:56Speaker 2: it's something that I have ownership that cares about the
- 19:59Speaker 2: community and winning.
- 20:00Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 20:01Speaker 2: Right, that's all that sports is. And so I think
- 20:04Speaker 2: more than getting close, I think having an ownership group
- 20:08Speaker 2: that actually is invested in winning a title and building
- 20:12Speaker 2: in the community in a way, because you hear that
- 20:14Speaker 2: with the Seahawks, people like to go be a part
- 20:16Speaker 2: of that organization. They really like the way people talk
- 20:19Speaker 2: about the Vikings organization. That to me is the big
- 20:23Speaker 2: deal and the thing that allows you to reinvest because
- 20:26Speaker 2: you're like, well, at some point it has to work out.
- 20:29Speaker 2: Now you here's my question back to you, because you
- 20:33Speaker 2: won that Super Bowl and then all of a sudden,
- 20:35Speaker 2: it's like you guys entered into this almost new era.
- 20:38Speaker 2: We're like, well, they're kind of just one of the
- 20:40Speaker 2: franchises that they might have to rebuild, but they'll be back.
- 20:43Speaker 2: You're just expected to be there. I mean, where were
- 20:46Speaker 2: you at before that in that same regard, because it
- 20:49Speaker 2: was just years of misery with one Hasselbeck miss like
- 20:53Speaker 2: you were us with less of a long history before
- 20:57Speaker 2: that Super Bowl.
- 20:58Speaker 4: Yeah, I think you don't have a winning history.
- 21:02Speaker 5: That super Bowl in twenty five against the Steelers that
- 21:06Speaker 5: was clearly rigged for Jerome Bettis to.
- 21:09Speaker 4: Walk off into the sunset.
- 21:11Speaker 5: And even my Steeler fans know that and will admit
- 21:13Speaker 5: it slightly, but nobody cared about the Seahawks. We were
- 21:17Speaker 5: small markets, still our small market team, but it's the
- 21:20Speaker 5: one sport where we have made more of a splash
- 21:24Speaker 5: in the zeitgeist, but at least for the Northwest. But yeah,
- 21:28Speaker 5: it was a weird time because you're such a diehard fan,
- 21:31Speaker 5: but you're also so aware of like, oh, we're just
- 21:34Speaker 5: not there.
- 21:35Speaker 4: We have a lot of holes on the team.
- 21:36Speaker 5: And getting Marshawn was like a big deal. I don't
- 21:41Speaker 5: think it was like a huge signing, but it was
- 21:43Speaker 5: a big It's like a back.
- 21:45Speaker 2: To the future timeline shift getting him.
- 21:47Speaker 4: Yeah, totally.
- 21:48Speaker 5: Seattle people are now so you live and die. We
- 21:52Speaker 5: also are just craving a super Bowl that will wash
- 21:57Speaker 5: away twenty fourteen.
- 22:00Speaker 2: You're the king, dude. This means a lot. Thank you
- 22:02Speaker 2: for doing the.
