- 0:00Speaker 1: I know a lot of people that are doing better
- 0:02Speaker 1: than me, but none of them got there without a
- 0:05Speaker 1: bumpy road.
- 0:06Speaker 2: The road to better is bumpy.
- 0:11Speaker 1: So if you're on a bumpy road, I'm telling you
- 0:15Speaker 1: you're headed to better. There are some things that God
- 0:18Speaker 1: created you for that you had some delays and some setbacks,
- 0:23Speaker 1: and some mistakes and some mishaps, and God wants you
- 0:27Speaker 1: to come back to the.
- 0:28Speaker 2: Place that there's gonna be a night shift.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Jacob has told his sons, you will not defeat the
- 0:39Speaker 1: famine looking at each other.
- 0:44Speaker 2: Did you hear what I'm saying.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Watch how Jacob handles the famine, because my first point
- 0:51Speaker 1: is the famine. And until you can deal with the famine,
- 0:56Speaker 1: you will never get to better. Because famine is a
- 1:00Speaker 1: part of your journey. How you react to the famine
- 1:04Speaker 1: determines whether you make it to the food. You've got
- 1:10Speaker 1: to be aggressive. You can't just pray against the famine.
- 1:15Speaker 1: You've got to do something, Jacob says. You can't just
- 1:18Speaker 1: pray against it. You can't just look at each other.
- 1:21Speaker 1: You can't stay in the same spot and do the
- 1:23Speaker 1: same things that you've always done and expect to get
- 1:26Speaker 1: a different result. Because we're in a famine, and you've
- 1:29Speaker 1: got to take action, And we don't understand that today,
- 1:33Speaker 1: we don't understand the human requirement in the miracles of God.
- 1:39Speaker 3: As much as we.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Have read about the miracles of God, we walk away
- 1:44Speaker 1: with praise to God, but absolve ourselves of human responsibility,
- 1:50Speaker 1: as if God were going to act outside of human effort.
- 1:53Speaker 1: When God has created us to be collaborative in the miraculous. Oh,
- 1:59Speaker 1: I'm talking all ready. He wants us to be collaborative
- 2:02Speaker 1: in the miraculous, that we have a responsibility to take
- 2:06Speaker 1: action and to be aggressive about resolving issues. Just because
- 2:11Speaker 1: you're spiritual doesn't mean you get to pray for a
- 2:14Speaker 1: job and stay at home. I'm just gonna pray. If
- 2:21Speaker 1: the Lord wants me to have the job, he'll give
- 2:23Speaker 1: me a job. I'm just gonna watch TV and hit
- 2:25Speaker 1: the remote control and believe God for better. You'll you'll
- 2:29Speaker 1: never get to better if you don't get on the road.
- 2:32Speaker 1: You gotta gotta you gotta get on the road in
- 2:34Speaker 1: the middle of famine. They're traveling in the middle of
- 2:37Speaker 1: a famine. Now, traveling is not fun anytime, but traveling
- 2:41Speaker 1: in the middle of a famine is a very difficult
- 2:44Speaker 1: time because the famine is so severe that Jacob says,
- 2:47Speaker 1: if you don't move, you're going to die. Now, I
- 2:51Speaker 1: don't know who I'm talking to tonight, but there are
- 2:54Speaker 1: some pressures that come so strong that if you don't move,
- 2:57Speaker 1: you're going to die. How could you let me die?
- 2:59Speaker 1: And I'm child of God. You didn't move. I told
- 3:03Speaker 1: you to move. And when God tells you to move,
- 3:07Speaker 1: you got to move. And don't act like God has
- 3:09Speaker 1: failed you when you have failed to move. When God
- 3:16Speaker 1: says move, you have to take action. Whether you're the
- 3:18Speaker 1: prodigal son who came to himself but he still had
- 3:22Speaker 1: to go home, or whether you're the woman with the
- 3:24Speaker 1: issue of blood who believed that Jesus could heal her
- 3:27Speaker 1: but she still had to crawl, or whether you're blind
- 3:30Speaker 1: bottle man standing by the highwayside begging. He still had
- 3:33Speaker 1: to come out of his coat and go toward Jesus.
- 3:36Speaker 1: There is a human responsibility in spite of the famine.
- 3:41Speaker 1: So you got to move in the middle of a famine,
- 3:44Speaker 1: in the middle of a need, in the middle of
- 3:46Speaker 1: a storm, in the middle of a crisis. And he
- 3:48Speaker 1: sends his voice to go from Canaan to Egypt because
- 3:53Speaker 1: Jacob heard where there was food. Don't hate on people
- 3:58Speaker 1: who have even when you don't have. Because he didn't
- 4:04Speaker 1: hate on Egypt. He said, I'm going to Egypt. See,
- 4:08Speaker 1: we sit back and hate on people as if them
- 4:11Speaker 1: having is our demise, when it's not them having that
- 4:14Speaker 1: is our enemy. It's us not moving that is our enemy.
- 4:19Speaker 1: And the Bible says that though they didn't have any coin,
- 4:22Speaker 1: they had money. Yeah, and people don't quote it too much,
- 4:26Speaker 1: but the Bible all say. It says that money is
- 4:29Speaker 1: the answer to all things. It's the answer to all things.
- 4:33Speaker 1: If it's a thing, money can buy it. There are
- 4:37Speaker 1: some issues that cannot be resolved by things, but money
- 4:40Speaker 1: answers all things. So Jacob told the boys he gave
- 4:45Speaker 1: them some money and said go down to Egypt, and
- 4:47Speaker 1: don't go down there begging.
- 4:50Speaker 2: We came down here to do business. Yeah.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Yeah, we're spiritual people, but we know how to do business.
- 4:57Speaker 1: We praised Jehovah, but we still how to do business. Oh,
- 5:01Speaker 1: y'all not saying nothing to me tonight. See, the church
- 5:05Speaker 1: has failed its parishioners because we have been real heavy
- 5:09Speaker 1: on the praise and real light on the business. So
- 5:13Speaker 1: we told him to praise your way out and dance
- 5:16Speaker 1: your way out, and spend a around three times that
- 5:18Speaker 1: you're going to come out and so a sde and
- 5:20Speaker 1: you're going to get out. But we don't tell them
- 5:22Speaker 1: that you've got that the blessings are transactional, that there's
- 5:26Speaker 1: a business element.
- 5:28Speaker 2: Required in it.
- 5:29Speaker 1: And we got to go back and lay some foundation
- 5:31Speaker 1: to understand that Jacob does not go down to Egypt
- 5:34Speaker 1: to beg He goes down there to do business, and
- 5:38Speaker 1: he sends his sons down there to do business. But
- 5:40Speaker 1: wait a minute, you have to realize as we begin
- 5:44Speaker 1: to talk about the famine, we have to understand that
- 5:47Speaker 1: the famine is so severe that it pushes them to Egypt. Now,
- 5:53Speaker 1: the second thing I want you to see about the
- 5:55Speaker 1: famine is that God will use a famine to move you.
- 5:59Speaker 1: It doesn't have to be a famine for food. It
- 6:01Speaker 1: can be a famine for love, it can be a
- 6:04Speaker 1: famine for peace. But in everybody's life listening at me,
- 6:08Speaker 1: whether online or in the room, you have experienced some
- 6:11Speaker 1: kind of famine. The famine of fatherhood, the famine of family,
- 6:16Speaker 1: the famine of a mother's affection, the famine of a
- 6:19Speaker 1: good job, the famine of a nice house. All of
- 6:22Speaker 1: us have our famines. You might not be able to
- 6:24Speaker 1: see it because we might dress nice and sprink alone
- 6:27Speaker 1: over top of it, but all of us live with
- 6:30Speaker 1: some level of famine in our lives. Famine makes you pray,
- 6:34Speaker 1: and famine makes you seek God, and famine makes you
- 6:38Speaker 1: cry out, and famine will make you move, And oftentimes
- 6:42Speaker 1: God will use famine as an instrument to force you
- 6:46Speaker 1: out of your comfort zone. It is more comfortable to
- 6:50Speaker 1: stay in canaan, but the famine will drive you out.
- 6:53Speaker 1: It'll make you move, It'll make you get outside of
- 6:56Speaker 1: your confiden zone. It'll make you travel, It'll put you
- 6:59Speaker 1: on the road. Somebody say I'm on the road. I'm
- 7:02Speaker 1: not on the road for a field trip. I'm not
- 7:04Speaker 1: on the road joy riding. I'm on the road to better.
- 7:07Speaker 1: I'm on the road to better. There's some time after
- 7:10Speaker 1: there's something I want to see done in my lifetime,
- 7:13Speaker 1: and I'm tired.
- 7:14Speaker 2: Of sitting around.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Assessing the same old troubles and crying about the same
- 7:18Speaker 1: old problems, and going through the same old things. I'm
- 7:21Speaker 1: tired of complaining one to another, back and forth oh,
- 7:24Speaker 1: any bad. Yet, chiad is real bad. It's so bad. Jay,
- 7:28Speaker 1: I got to move from here, deliver me from people
- 7:31Speaker 1: who will not take action in the famine. And God
- 7:35Speaker 1: says action is required on you. You got to get
- 7:38Speaker 1: on the road. And that's anytime you can't rebuke it
- 7:42Speaker 1: with a prayer, anytime you plead the blood and it
- 7:45Speaker 1: doesn't go away, anytime you call on God and it
- 7:48Speaker 1: still stays there. Then God is using the famine as
- 7:52Speaker 1: an instrument to move you from one place to the other.
- 7:56Speaker 1: If it was the devil, I could rebuke it. If
- 7:58Speaker 1: it were demonic warfare, I could overcome it. But when
- 8:01Speaker 1: God sends a famine to make you move, it is
- 8:04Speaker 1: something in his providence that cannot be performed where you are,
- 8:09Speaker 1: and you've got to move in order to get it.
- 8:12Speaker 1: And God knows that some of us won't move if
- 8:14Speaker 1: we're too comfortable, y'all. I'm gonna talk to me tonight.
- 8:19Speaker 1: And so God uses as a famine to force them
- 8:23Speaker 1: to move and they go down to Egypt to do business. Now,
- 8:27Speaker 1: it is interesting to note that though there is a
- 8:29Speaker 1: famine in Canaan, there is also a famine in this family.
- 8:36Speaker 1: So my second point deals with the family. You have
- 8:39Speaker 1: to understand that this text brings out subtly, ever so
- 8:43Speaker 1: subtly in the text that I want to point it
- 8:45Speaker 1: out to you. First thing that tells us about Jacob
- 8:48Speaker 1: is that Jacob sends his sons down to Egypt to
- 8:51Speaker 1: buy But then it mentions that he did not send
- 8:54Speaker 1: Benjamin unless he fall into mischief. And this is just
- 8:59Speaker 1: a hidden, subtle reminder that Jacob doesn't totally trust his
- 9:05Speaker 1: own sons. Now, where did this distrust come up in
- 9:12Speaker 1: the culture of this family? This distrust comes up into
- 9:16Speaker 1: the culture of the family. And you can act like
- 9:19Speaker 1: you don't know what I'm talking about, But all of
- 9:21Speaker 1: us have different little things that we know about our
- 9:23Speaker 1: family that when cousin so and so comes over, you
- 9:27Speaker 1: kind of look at them out of the corner of
- 9:28Speaker 1: your eye because because you've been through some things where
- 9:31Speaker 1: you've learned some things, and this culture has risen up
- 9:34Speaker 1: in the family that the family is not fruitful, and
- 9:39Speaker 1: Canaan is not fruitful, and there is not the comfortable,
- 9:42Speaker 1: loving environment of trust that would cause the family to
- 9:46Speaker 1: be a nurturing place. Because Jacob remembers what happened to
- 9:50Speaker 1: Joseph the last time Jacob sent one of his sons
- 9:55Speaker 1: out with the rest of the sons, he turned up missing,
- 9:59Speaker 1: and there's a has ado of.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Distrust in the old man.
- 10:02Speaker 1: With his sons that he says, I'm going to keep
- 10:05Speaker 1: Benjamin now. The reason he's holding on to Benjamin and
- 10:09Speaker 1: he let the rest of them go is that Joseph
- 10:11Speaker 1: and Benjamin were born to him by Rachel, and Rachel
- 10:15Speaker 1: was the love of his life. And the reason he's
- 10:18Speaker 1: holding on to Benjamin is because that's all he's got
- 10:22Speaker 1: left of Rachel. And he says, if I lose Benjamin,
- 10:26Speaker 1: I lose all I have left of the best days
- 10:30Speaker 1: in my life. And sometimes we hold on to things
- 10:34Speaker 1: because we've been through so much pain that we become possessive.
- 10:40Speaker 1: Oh y'all, don't hear what I'm saying. There's a reason
- 10:42Speaker 1: you hold on to what you hold on, whether it's
- 10:45Speaker 1: money or people or things, there's a reason you hold
- 10:48Speaker 1: on to There's a reason that certain things make you mad.
- 10:51Speaker 1: There's a reason that you overreact in certain ways. There's
- 10:54Speaker 1: a reason that if we hit certain postpoints, you respond
- 10:58Speaker 1: differently than other people, because until you understand what I've
- 11:01Speaker 1: been through back here, you won't understand why I'm holding
- 11:05Speaker 1: on to this right here? What do you hold on
- 11:08Speaker 1: to because of what you've been through? What do you
- 11:13Speaker 1: hold on to because of what you've been through? For
- 11:16Speaker 1: Jacob the old man is holding on to the last
- 11:19Speaker 1: smell of Rachel. When he holds Benjamin. It's the last
- 11:26Speaker 1: reminder of a happier moment in his life. And he
- 11:31Speaker 1: is so afraid of losing Benjamin because Rachel the Baron
- 11:37Speaker 1: Woman has birth two sons unto him, and one of
- 11:42Speaker 1: them Jacob thinks is dead and Benjamin is all he
- 11:47Speaker 1: got left. Anytime you think this is all you got left,
- 11:51Speaker 1: you will hold on real tight, whether it is true
- 11:57Speaker 1: or not. You will hold on real tight if you
- 12:01Speaker 1: think that this is the last person that will ever
- 12:04Speaker 1: love you. You will take stuff that you wouldn't normally take.
- 12:11Speaker 1: You will go through things you wouldn't normally go through.
- 12:13Speaker 1: And your girlfriends will tell you if I was you,
- 12:15Speaker 1: I wouldn't take that, And your mama told you you
- 12:18Speaker 1: need to get away from there, But you keep holding
- 12:20Speaker 1: on to it because you've been hurt before, and anytime
- 12:23Speaker 1: you've been hurt before, you hold on to something when
- 12:26Speaker 1: you think you won't get anymore. I wonder tonight how
- 12:29Speaker 1: many people are holding on to some sort of Benjamin
- 12:32Speaker 1: in your life, holding on to it out of fear,
- 12:36Speaker 1: not out of love. He's not clutching him out of love.
- 12:39Speaker 1: He's clutching him out of fear. Be careful what fear
- 12:42Speaker 1: will make you do. And I'm looking at it. Jacob
- 12:45Speaker 1: is an old man, and the older you get, the
- 12:48Speaker 1: more precious everything becomes. And Jacob is holding on to Benjamin,
- 12:58Speaker 1: and he's saying, Joseph is not, and now Simeon is not.
- 13:07Speaker 1: You ain't taking my Benjamin. I'm wondering what you're squeezing
- 13:15Speaker 1: too tight? What are you squeezing out of fear? See,
- 13:25Speaker 1: Jacob isn't squeezing Benjamin out of faith. He's squeezing him
- 13:32Speaker 1: out of fear. He's squeezing him like it's the last
- 13:37Speaker 1: thing he's.
- 13:38Speaker 2: Gonna ever get.
- 13:40Speaker 1: You can't grow when you squeeze something like it's the
- 13:45Speaker 1: last thing you're gonna ever get, even if it's squeezing
- 13:47Speaker 1: money like it's the last you'll ever get. Then you
- 13:53Speaker 1: have prophesied against yourself. You have you faith in reverse.
- 14:00Speaker 1: There fear is faith in reverse. To have confidence that
- 14:03Speaker 1: that thing, that you don't want is going to happen
- 14:06Speaker 1: to you. He's holding the boy out of fear, and
- 14:12Speaker 1: God is manipulating all of these circumstances to bring this
- 14:16Speaker 1: family back together. He is wooing them back to a
- 14:20Speaker 1: place so he can heal them. And wouldn't it be
- 14:25Speaker 1: better to be healed than to be mad? And Jacob
- 14:34Speaker 1: says to them, if I lose Benjamin, let me quote
- 14:40Speaker 1: it just like you said. And he said, my son
- 14:41Speaker 1: shall not go down with you, for his brother is
- 14:45Speaker 1: dead and he is left alone. And if mishiefs befall
- 14:51Speaker 1: him by the way, See how Jacob is still in
- 14:55Speaker 1: a place where.
- 14:56Speaker 2: He don't trust them.
- 15:00Speaker 1: Children, and he don't trust him, and he has good
- 15:03Speaker 1: reason not to trust him.
- 15:06Speaker 2: He said, you're not gonna get him.
- 15:08Speaker 1: Let's mischief befall him by the way into witch she go.
- 15:13Speaker 1: He says, if I go through with Benjamin what I
- 15:16Speaker 1: went through with Joseph, my gray hairs are gonna turn
- 15:21Speaker 1: him to sorrow and bring me to the grave. See,
- 15:27Speaker 1: you get to a point in life that you've reached
- 15:28Speaker 1: an age that you can't take no more pain.
- 15:35Speaker 2: And he says, I can't afford to live through this again.
- 15:41Speaker 1: And God is really behind it all, trying to pry
- 15:46Speaker 1: Benjamin out of Jacob's hands, because what Jacob doesn't understand. Yes,
- 15:53Speaker 1: sir Rod's been bumpy, and yes, sir D's been tough,
- 15:57Speaker 1: and yes, sir, Road's been difficult, and yes you've shed
- 16:01Speaker 1: some tears, and yes you've endured some pain.
- 16:05Speaker 2: But it is the bumpy road to better. It is
- 16:15Speaker 2: the bumpy road to better.
- 16:22Speaker 1: I know a lot of people that are doing better
- 16:26Speaker 1: than me and have more stuff and more money and
- 16:29Speaker 1: more recognition and more fame and more whatever you want
- 16:32Speaker 1: to count it by than me. But none of them
- 16:36Speaker 1: that I know, have got there without a bumpy road.
- 16:42Speaker 2: The road to better it is bumpy.
- 16:47Speaker 1: So if you're on a bumpy road, I'm telling you.
- 16:51Speaker 2: You're headed to better.
- 16:59Speaker 1: Do you hear the words that are coming out of
- 17:01Speaker 1: my mouth. You can't get to better without bumpy. You
- 17:06Speaker 1: can't get to better without pain. You can't get to
- 17:09Speaker 1: better without tears. You can't be all buff if you
- 17:12Speaker 1: don't work out, you can't lose weight, if you don't
- 17:15Speaker 1: push the food away. You can't get to better without bumpy.
- 17:18Speaker 1: There is no pill you can take. There is no
- 17:21Speaker 1: simple solution. It is the bumpiness of the road that
- 17:25Speaker 1: leads you to better. Ultimately, Jacob will end up having
- 17:29Speaker 1: to go to Egypt. And when Joseph sees his father,
- 17:41Speaker 1: When Joseph sees his father, all of these years he's
- 17:47Speaker 1: been living without the touch of his father, and all
- 17:55Speaker 1: of a sudden he reveals himself, and he shows him
- 18:02Speaker 1: who he is. The Bible says that one day those
- 18:06Speaker 1: who rejected Jesus are gonna look on him whom they
- 18:10Speaker 1: had pierced, and a nation shall be saved in a day.
- 18:16Speaker 1: This day in the life of Joseph is a prophetic
- 18:21Speaker 1: prediction of what will happen between Jesus and Israel, when
- 18:27Speaker 1: all of a sudden they will look on him whom
- 18:29Speaker 1: they appears, and finally recognize he was the Messiah. He
- 18:38Speaker 1: is the lad of God, he is the i Am,
- 18:43Speaker 1: He is the true Vibe, he is the living Bread,
- 18:48Speaker 1: he is the manner that came down out of heaven.
- 18:51Speaker 1: He is. It wasn't a lie, it wasn't a job,
- 18:54Speaker 1: it wasn't a philacy. And the family will be reunited again.
- 18:59Speaker 2: And all of a sudden, and they.
- 19:00Speaker 1: Beheld him whom they had thrown away, and they fell
- 19:04Speaker 1: down and said, oh, Joseph, And they now realize that Joseph,
- 19:10Speaker 1: everything he went through was to position him to bless them.
- 19:19Speaker 2: Are y'all hearing what I'm saying?
- 19:22Speaker 1: The reason God doesn't bless some people because you're selfish.
- 19:31Speaker 1: The reason God didn't bless some people is because you're
- 19:34Speaker 1: only interested in you, because you hate too long, and
- 19:40Speaker 1: you're too angry, and you're too bitter to be trusted
- 19:43Speaker 1: with that much power. God blesses people whose hearts are tender.
- 19:51Speaker 1: And it was only when I saw Joseph's heart that
- 19:56Speaker 1: I understood Joseph's blessing. Because Joejoseph was the son that
- 20:01Speaker 1: could be trusted with favor, because he would not use
- 20:07Speaker 1: his favor to get even, He would not use his
- 20:12Speaker 1: favor for revenge. He would use his favor to bring
- 20:19Speaker 1: them into better. And so Joseph brings the family to better.
- 20:29Speaker 1: The whole family dwells together in better. And not only
- 20:32Speaker 1: does he bring them to better, he releases the guilt
- 20:37Speaker 1: from the guilty. It's one thing to absolve the innocent,
- 20:45Speaker 1: but it's another thing to equit the guilty. He absolved
- 20:51Speaker 1: the guilty because he was big enough to be blessed
- 20:57Speaker 1: like that. He was big enough to be blessed like that,
- 21:02Speaker 1: He was strong enough to be blessed like that. And
- 21:06Speaker 1: that's why he was chosen from the very beginning that
- 21:10Speaker 1: God trusted him with trouble. God trusted him with rejection,
- 21:14Speaker 1: God trusting him with pain. God trusted him with agony
- 21:18Speaker 1: because God knew his heart that when push came to shove,
- 21:23Speaker 1: that love would always went out over revenge. God knew
- 21:27Speaker 1: his heart that there was something down inside of him
- 21:31Speaker 1: that was better than that. And if you want the
- 21:35Speaker 1: favor of God in your life, you have to be
- 21:38Speaker 1: prepared to ask yourself, can God trust you with favor?
- 21:43Speaker 1: Can God trust you with power? Can God trust you
- 21:48Speaker 1: with honor? Because until that answer is a resounding yes,
- 21:57Speaker 1: the doors of your blessing will be close. They're clds
- 22:02Speaker 1: because you are too angry and too bitter and too vindictive.
- 22:07Speaker 1: And God can't give you favor because you'll use it
- 22:11Speaker 1: like witchcraft to bring curcious on those who hurt you.
- 22:18Speaker 1: And you'll know you're getting bigger when you start getting better.
- 22:24Speaker 1: You've been praying to be bigger. You should have been
- 22:27Speaker 1: praying to be better. There's somebody watching me right now,
- 22:34Speaker 1: there's no reason in the world that somebody as talented
- 22:37Speaker 1: to you as you are shouldn't be further than you are.
- 22:42Speaker 1: You have the talent to go all the way to
- 22:46Speaker 1: the top, but every time you try to go to
- 22:50Speaker 1: the top, something blocks you.
- 22:52Speaker 2: And God send me to tell you it's not what's
- 22:54Speaker 2: on the outside that's blocked you.
- 22:57Speaker 1: It's the stuff you carry on the ins that always
- 23:01Speaker 1: blocks you because you're so slick, and God has to
- 23:09Speaker 1: keep showing you that you ain't as slick as you
- 23:11Speaker 1: think you are, and your blessing has been delayed, and
- 23:15Speaker 1: you wandered in the wilderness of almost getting there and
- 23:19Speaker 1: never being able to get there because you've never been
- 23:22Speaker 1: able to get your heart to the place that you
- 23:25Speaker 1: could be trusted. God gives favor to people he can trust,
- 23:43Speaker 1: but you are so transactional.
- 23:48Speaker 2: Everything is a way.
- 23:50Speaker 1: For you to manipulate, and so you never get better.
- 23:56Speaker 1: The Bible says none but the pure in heart shall
- 24:00Speaker 1: seek God. The word pure in the Greek is why
- 24:05Speaker 1: we get the word catheter. And there is no way
- 24:09Speaker 1: for you to see God until you put a catheter
- 24:13Speaker 1: into your heart and get rid of the bitterness that
- 24:16Speaker 1: is blocking you from your blessing. I'm still talking about
- 24:22Speaker 1: the bumpy road to better as I closed tonight, I
- 24:33Speaker 1: challenge you a look at Genesis forty two, and even
- 24:37Speaker 1: going into Genesis forty three, and watch.
- 24:40Speaker 2: God bring Jacob.
- 24:45Speaker 1: And his voice into a state of blessings that does
- 24:51Speaker 1: not fade away. Samuel servert under Eli, and that there
- 24:59Speaker 1: was the word of the Lord was scarce and or rare,
- 25:04Speaker 1: and there was no open vision. It's a hint, It's
- 25:11Speaker 1: a preview. See, Samuel is not so much Eli's successor.
- 25:22Speaker 1: You don't use Samuel as Eli's successor like Elijah and Elijah,
- 25:31Speaker 1: like Paul and Timothy. Not only are they not in
- 25:34Speaker 1: the same chain, they're not of the same order. Eli
- 25:40Speaker 1: is a priest. Samuel is a prophet. Perhaps one of
- 25:52Speaker 1: the greatest prophets of the Old Testament is Samuel. And
- 25:58Speaker 1: what God has done, He has forced a prophet.
- 26:05Speaker 2: Into the house of a priest.
- 26:10Speaker 1: This is the beginning of the formation of the Messiah,
- 26:16Speaker 1: who is prophet. You see see, so we all we
- 26:27Speaker 1: have up until now is priest. But out of the
- 26:31Speaker 1: barrenness of Hannah's womb doesn't come Eli's successor. It becomes
- 26:38Speaker 1: Eli's prophets.
- 26:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:42Speaker 1: And the reason the prophet had to come next is
- 26:46Speaker 1: that the prophet is the one who annoys the king.
- 26:53Speaker 1: God got an order he don't even explain to you.
- 26:56Speaker 1: He does stup for his own reason. He's got his
- 27:00Speaker 1: own methodology. He works all things according to the purpose
- 27:04Speaker 1: of his own wheels, say man.
- 27:07Speaker 3: So we are watching the shift.
- 27:11Speaker 1: Between the priest to the prophet. The prophet is under
- 27:19Speaker 1: the priest. Before it's over, the priest is gonna be
- 27:27Speaker 1: under the prophets a double chef.
- 27:30Speaker 2: Ta see, you can kind.
- 27:32Speaker 1: Of Oh God, I want to go see when when
- 27:36Speaker 1: we worship, when we praise, when we give offerings, we're
- 27:40Speaker 1: working like priests. When I get up to preach, I'm
- 27:43Speaker 1: working like a prophet. Hallelujah. So Ah, while you're worshiping,
- 27:48Speaker 1: I'm up under you. But when I get up to preach,
- 27:52Speaker 1: you're up under this annoying. We just we just acted
- 27:56Speaker 1: out what the texta is all about. If the priest
- 27:59Speaker 1: comes first, here comes a prophet. You provoke the word
- 28:04Speaker 1: of God by how you worship. You provoke the Word
- 28:08Speaker 1: of God by how you lift him up. You provoke
- 28:11Speaker 1: the word of God by how you lift your hands
- 28:13Speaker 1: and raise your hand the priest comes before the prophet
- 28:17Speaker 1: is released. This is not just a succession. This is
- 28:23Speaker 1: a transformation, This is a revolution, this is a move.
- 28:31Speaker 1: And the irony of it is they said, the word
- 28:35Speaker 1: of the Lord was scarce in those days, and there
- 28:38Speaker 1: was no open vision, and yet the prophet was growing
- 28:45Speaker 1: in the scarcity. Y'all can't handle this. Prosperity grows in poverty.
- 29:01Speaker 1: That's why the Bible said, let the poor say that
- 29:03Speaker 1: I'm let the weak say that I'm see You can
- 29:09Speaker 1: you can. You can be weak on top and be
- 29:12Speaker 1: strong underneath. You're gonna hear what I'm saying. You can
- 29:17Speaker 1: be poor on topa and have prosperity growing up under you.
- 29:21Speaker 1: It does not yet appear what you shall be, but
- 29:25Speaker 1: it's still growing up. That's why you see an IV
- 29:29Speaker 1: because a prophet is still a boy, but he's coming.
- 29:32Speaker 1: He's coming. He's coming, he's coming, he's coming. Your prophecy
- 29:36Speaker 1: is still a boy, but it's coming, is coming, is coming.
- 29:39Speaker 2: It's up under your priesthood.
- 29:42Speaker 1: That that's why I'm trying to get you to worship,
- 29:44Speaker 1: because when you worship, you're getting closer to releasing that
- 29:48Speaker 1: prophetic utterance that exists in your life. And that's why
- 29:52Speaker 1: the devil doesn't want you to worship, because worship makes
- 29:55Speaker 1: the water break, it makes the baby give birth, it
- 30:00Speaker 1: releases a prophetic, utterant side. Somebody shall yes. And then
- 30:11Speaker 1: I want to point out the extreme generational change. It
- 30:19Speaker 1: is not that Samuel and Eli just represent two generations.
- 30:28Speaker 1: The truth of the matter is Eli is a boy.
- 30:32Speaker 1: I mean Samuel is a boy. When Eli is an
- 30:36Speaker 1: old man, Samuel is young enough to be huff nay son.
- 30:45Speaker 1: So you got this grandfather character who is old and
- 30:52Speaker 1: the other extreme is a boy is in the house.
- 31:03Speaker 1: And it is an extreme shift. It's gonna skip a generation.
- 31:18Speaker 1: You don't see it where you thought you would see it,
- 31:22Speaker 1: But here it comes from the place you didn't expect
- 31:26Speaker 1: to see it, from a person you didn't expect to
- 31:29Speaker 1: see it, from a woman that you thought was drunk.
- 31:34Speaker 1: Here comes the change that God's gonna bring in your life.
- 31:38Speaker 1: That's why you got to stop looking down your nose
- 31:41Speaker 1: at people are and calling people out their name, because
- 31:44Speaker 1: sometimes God or you somebody you thought was drunk to
- 31:48Speaker 1: be the next level of blessing in your life. Somebody
- 31:53Speaker 1: holler for me. I feel like hollering this morning. I
- 31:56Speaker 1: feel like screaming this morning. And then when I was
- 32:07Speaker 1: praying about it, the Lord said, I want you to
- 32:11Speaker 1: tell them in the night shift, the light shimmers. In
- 32:19Speaker 1: the night shift, the light shimmers. Night doesn't mean total blackout,
- 32:29Speaker 1: It says, and ere the lamp of God went out.
- 32:33Speaker 2: Now, you all were.
- 32:34Speaker 1: Raised with electric lights, and I was too, But when
- 32:38Speaker 1: I went to my grandmother's house, they would have candle
- 32:41Speaker 1: lights and oil lamps. And when the lamps were going out,
- 32:45Speaker 1: as they start to go out, they flicker, flickering.
- 32:53Speaker 2: The night.
- 32:55Speaker 1: Has shimmering light, moments of illumine, glimpses, shadows, moments of revelation,
- 33:12Speaker 1: moments of insight. You can't see it clearly because it's shimmering,
- 33:20Speaker 1: but you've cut glimpses. You would have fainted, but you
- 33:25Speaker 1: caught shimmers of light every time the devil buddy had you,
- 33:29Speaker 1: God let the light shimmer. You're steal in the night season.
- 33:34Speaker 1: But you got a flicker of light. You got a
- 33:37Speaker 1: flicker of light, And sometimes a flicker is all you need.
- 33:42Speaker 1: If you get a flicker of light, you can hold
- 33:44Speaker 1: on a little while longer. Some of y'all came out
- 33:48Speaker 1: with a flicker of light. You're like the woman who
- 33:51Speaker 1: said I don't need the loaf. If I get a crumb,
- 33:55Speaker 1: I'll come out on a crumb. I wish I had
- 33:57Speaker 1: some crumby people come out on a crumb.
- 34:01Speaker 3: If you give me.
- 34:02Speaker 1: A half a chance, I'll scratch myself out the rest
- 34:06Speaker 1: of the way. I may not half daylight, but if
- 34:09Speaker 1: I got shimmering light, if I know two scriptures, if
- 34:14Speaker 1: I know one and a half scriptures, if I can
- 34:17Speaker 1: sing a little bit, I may not be on the
- 34:20Speaker 1: praise team. But if I can sing while I'm doing
- 34:23Speaker 1: my dishes, I can break her yo over my house.
- 34:27Speaker 1: I want to talk to some people that are standing
- 34:30Speaker 1: in shimmering light. Make some noise. The old man couldn't
- 34:37Speaker 1: hear him. Now the Bible said he couldn't see, but
- 34:40Speaker 1: he didn't sing nothing about his ears. But he cannot
- 34:47Speaker 1: hear what the young man can hear. The young man
- 34:51Speaker 1: can hear God, and he can hear God to the
- 34:55Speaker 1: point that he's disruptive, anxious, irritated, disturbs his sleeping cheaps
- 35:03Speaker 1: getting up again. Some of you can hear God so clear,
- 35:07Speaker 1: and then when you try to act on what God
- 35:09Speaker 1: told you to do, they send you back, and when
- 35:15Speaker 1: they send you back, it plays into your rejection issues.
- 35:18Speaker 1: It plays until your abandonment issues, and you think they
- 35:21Speaker 1: don't believe in you because they send you back. But
- 35:24Speaker 1: they're sending you back because they don't hear what you hear.
- 35:32Speaker 1: All they can do is send you back because they
- 35:35Speaker 1: haven't heard what you're heard. Somebody holler, I hear it.
- 35:41Speaker 1: My money is not right, but I hear it. My
- 35:45Speaker 1: friends are not right, but I hear it. I don't
- 35:48Speaker 1: have no building for it, but I hear it. Somebody holler,
- 35:51Speaker 1: I hear it. I'm preaching that. Somebody on line. I
- 35:55Speaker 1: hear it. It won't let me rest. It won't let
- 35:58Speaker 1: me rest. It won't let me lay down. He won't
- 36:00Speaker 1: let me speak because I keep hearing it. I don't
- 36:03Speaker 1: know how to do it, but I hear it. Now
- 36:11Speaker 1: was just this is why we can't throw eager extremes away.
- 36:16Speaker 1: I'm not talking about you and your parents. I'm talking
- 36:18Speaker 1: about from grandparent.
- 36:21Speaker 2: On down.
- 36:24Speaker 1: Eli can't hear it, but he can interpret it. Samuel
- 36:35Speaker 1: can hear it, but he don't know what to do
- 36:38Speaker 1: with it. So when Eli perceives that the Lord had
- 36:44Speaker 1: called him not only did he perceive that God had
- 36:47Speaker 1: called him.
- 36:48Speaker 2: He told him what to say.
- 36:54Speaker 1: See some of us. God has kept us in the
- 36:57Speaker 1: earth just to tell you what to do what you got.
- 37:01Speaker 1: We're not trying to control you. We're trying to stop
- 37:05Speaker 1: the vicious cycle of going back and forth and back
- 37:09Speaker 1: and forth, and back and forth and back and forth.
- 37:11Speaker 1: So which we're gonna script you. It's gonna be your job.
- 37:17Speaker 1: You're anointing. I'm just giving you the script, so Eli
- 37:23Speaker 1: told him. Then Eli said, go back and lay down
- 37:29Speaker 1: in your place. In other words, go back and be
- 37:34Speaker 1: where God expects you to be. Adam, where art thou.
- 37:39Speaker 1: You're not in the meeting place. Moses built a tabernacle
- 37:46Speaker 1: in the wild. And if what is tabernacle, it's a
- 37:51Speaker 1: When God sent Jesus, he sent divinity to humanity. Because
- 37:56Speaker 1: Jesus is a I am the way, the truth, and
- 38:01Speaker 1: the life. No man coming them to the Father say me,
- 38:04Speaker 1: come by me. Go back to the meeting place and
- 38:07Speaker 1: lay down, and if he calls you again. This is
- 38:15Speaker 1: the humility of the text. I cannot assume that I
- 38:26Speaker 1: have endless opportunities to go back and forth. I don't
- 38:35Speaker 1: know if you're gonna call me again. But if you
- 38:40Speaker 1: call me again, I know what to say now because
- 38:44Speaker 1: I have served under Eli. So there's this big argument
- 38:51Speaker 1: going on in the world in some parts of the
- 38:53Speaker 1: world today, a generational argument between the former and the latter,
- 39:00Speaker 1: and they're arguing over who's relevant, who they both are,
- 39:08Speaker 1: the reason they both are. He called the young because
- 39:10Speaker 1: they're strong.
- 39:11Speaker 2: He called the old.
- 39:11Speaker 1: Because they they know the way. They know the way.
- 39:16Speaker 1: Eli was old, but he knew the way. He couldn't
- 39:19Speaker 1: run the place, but he knew the way. You understand
- 39:24Speaker 1: what I'm talking about. So one doesn't operate independent of
- 39:28Speaker 1: the other. So the day shift can't go home before
- 39:36Speaker 1: the night shift comes on. The knight shift can't go
- 39:43Speaker 1: home until the day shift comes back. And God said,
- 39:47Speaker 1: until you learn how to work interdependently, you will never
- 39:54Speaker 1: be effective. Because I can't run the plays anymore, but
- 40:00Speaker 1: I know how to play the game. The challenge of
- 40:13Speaker 1: the older generation is to not be jealous of the
- 40:18Speaker 1: younger generation to the point that you won't give them
- 40:24Speaker 1: the benefit of what you learn. The challenge of the
- 40:33Speaker 1: younger generation is to understand that some old systems still work,
- 40:43Speaker 1: and in your desire to be innovative, there are still
- 40:48Speaker 1: some laws you can't break, and one of them is
- 40:52Speaker 1: to lay down in the right place.
- 40:55Speaker 3: And wait on the Lord.
- 40:58Speaker 1: And if I can't make it call you, that's how time.
- 41:06Speaker 1: I can't make it call you. I can't make it seek.
- 41:12Speaker 1: I can't even make you go to the place. But
- 41:14Speaker 1: if you go back to the place, see.
- 41:22Speaker 2: I gotta stop. The powerful thing to me.
- 41:27Speaker 1: About watching you run around the stage and preach is
- 41:34Speaker 1: I remember you as a little girl sitting right over
- 41:38Speaker 1: there in the corner with your head down, to come
- 41:44Speaker 1: back full circle to the place. God said, I'm a
- 41:59Speaker 1: blame you, right right in the place where you felt rejection,
- 42:05Speaker 1: right in the place where you felt disgraced, right in
- 42:08Speaker 1: the place where you felt shame, right in the place
- 42:10Speaker 1: where you thought nobody would ever accept you, Right in
- 42:13Speaker 1: the place where you thought you'd never be anybody. God said,
- 42:15Speaker 1: that's still a place, And I'm gonna bring you back
- 42:18Speaker 1: to the place. I'm gonna bring you right back to
- 42:20Speaker 1: the spot, to the spot, to the very spot. Show
- 42:25Speaker 1: me where you laid him down, show me where you
- 42:27Speaker 1: came up, show me where you wanted to quit, show
- 42:31Speaker 1: me where you wanted to run from, show me where
- 42:33Speaker 1: you're trying to hide from.
- 42:35Speaker 3: I'm gonna bring you right back to the blade. Sign
- 42:38Speaker 3: you up.
- 42:50Speaker 1: See they shall because they see the woman preaching. I'm
- 42:54Speaker 1: over here showing because I see the little girl preaching.
- 42:58Speaker 1: I see the little girl preacher who thought her life
- 43:01Speaker 1: was over. That's what I'm shouting about, because you always
- 43:06Speaker 1: mean my baby. So I see you like you're steal
- 43:09Speaker 1: a child sitting over the corner with big bility, holding
- 43:13Speaker 1: Malachi in your arms. Now what you're holding, and it
- 43:40Speaker 1: ain't just for her, It's for you too, some of
- 43:44Speaker 1: you gods getting ready to do something in your life.
- 43:46Speaker 1: He's gonna break every curse, every bondas, every shame, every
- 43:50Speaker 1: struggle on your life. If I'm preaching to you jiming
- 43:54Speaker 1: him sixty seconds, I'm crazy. I mean no, no, no,
- 43:58Speaker 1: no crazy. Pray don't break and play joke, break and pay,
- 44:03Speaker 1: don's plain and pray.
- 44:04Speaker 3: Pray that like you lost your bye.
- 44:07Speaker 1: Pray that like it just hard come God. Pray that
- 44:10Speaker 1: like you got another said play that like he opened
- 44:13Speaker 1: up a door.
- 44:33Speaker 2: The Lord said to me.
- 44:37Speaker 1: The Lord said to me, there's some people in this
- 44:41Speaker 1: room that he's trying to call you back to the
- 44:47Speaker 1: place of your confusion, of your chaos, that there's gonna
- 44:55Speaker 1: be a night shift. Wait wait, wait, let me give
- 45:00Speaker 1: you this prophecy. The Lord said to Samuel, I'm going
- 45:04Speaker 1: to do things.
- 45:05Speaker 2: Through you.
- 45:08Speaker 1: That causes both ears of them that hear it to tingle.
- 45:19Speaker 1: I am going to use you like no other prophet
- 45:24Speaker 1: has ever been used in the scriptures. I'm gonna use
- 45:30Speaker 1: you in life. I'm gonna use you after your life.
- 45:33Speaker 1: I'm gonna use you to annoying kings. I'm gonna bring
- 45:38Speaker 1: you before princess. I'm gonna bring you into positions of power.
- 45:42Speaker 1: And if I don't know, if you've got faith enough
- 45:44Speaker 1: to believe it. And God said all of that when
- 45:50Speaker 1: Samuel had not yet known the Lord. Now this is
- 46:16Speaker 1: not just about churches. This is about your life, your business,
- 46:24Speaker 1: your career, your degree, your entrepreneurship. Whatever you're calling in
- 46:32Speaker 1: the earth is whatever you're calling. Everybody ain't called to
- 46:35Speaker 1: the pulpit. Everybody's not supposed to do this, everybody's not
- 46:38Speaker 1: created to do this. Don't be one dimensional. There are
- 46:42Speaker 1: some things that God created you for that you had
- 46:44Speaker 1: some delays and some setbacks, and some mistakes and some
- 46:49Speaker 1: mishaps and God wants you to come back to the place. Yes,
- 46:54Speaker 1: shad dak kobusha da, God said, go back to the
- 46:58Speaker 1: place where you heard my voice speak Lord, for the servant.
- 47:15Speaker 1: Here is
