- 0:02This is an unspoiled Network podcast. This is Spoiled Me, covering one piece
- 0:13episodes four twenty ha ha ha and four twenty one, The Friends Whereabouts Bridging
- 0:19the Islands and Vicious Vegetations and The Friends Whereabouts a Negative Princess and the King
- 0:26of Demons. In these episodes, our friends, the rest of our friends,
- 0:34a lot of them, are having very very interesting adventures fraught with all
- 0:39sorts of social issues and perils. And then there's us up. Welcome to
- 0:47spoil Me, Welcome to the show everyone. I am Natasha. Thank you
- 1:10very much to Gabriella for commissioning this episode. Oh wait, no, I'm
- 1:14so sorry. Gabriella is the one who did the commissioning, but I am
- 1:17meant to credit Michael. Thank you Michael for commissioning this episode. I actually
- 1:23need to look at that a little bit more closely than I have been.
- 1:26I recognize that I am not awesome at checking who should be credited versus who
- 1:32did the commissioning, so apologies on that, but thank you Michael, if
- 1:34you're out there. So these episodes, we you know, predictably, I
- 1:42knew that we were going to wind up finding out what happened to everybody else.
- 1:46I didn't expect it to be so uneven in terms of like how much
- 1:49screen time each of them gets, because us UP really gets a very short
- 1:56I mean, you know, I say that I didn't look at the actual
- 1:59time, but correct me if I'm wrong. I think us Ups was the
- 2:04shortest out of everybody's. I'm take a sip of ice coffee here. I'm
- 2:07so sorry, guys. I've been behind all day today and I'm also like
- 2:10really tired, so I'm just trying to caffeinate myself get through it. I
- 2:16hate when I have this sort of this feeling of needing to like pet myself
- 2:22up when I am going to talk about stuff that I'm actually excited to talk
- 2:25about, because it just feels like it just feels rude to have a lack
- 2:31of energy regarding a thing I otherwise i'm really excited over. It's like my
- 2:38spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. So let's start with Robbins.
- 2:45Hers is the weirdest, and I want to, like, you know,
- 2:50always ask for clarifications from you guys regarding things just to be sure I'm
- 2:54understanding correctly. Is Robin the only one of our friends that has wound up
- 3:05in the East Blue or did I just like miss the mention because it feels
- 3:12like that's the first time that I heard it, But it may just be
- 3:15the first time I really clocked it. The fact that she's in a country
- 3:22on the East Blue is really alarming to me. It's even more alarming than
- 3:28Nami being on like Skypeia. At least we didn't get to Skypia until we
- 3:32crossed over to the Grand Line. But I don't well, she's not Skypia.
- 3:38She's on a sky island. Technically not all sky islands are Skypia.
- 3:44So fine, but that's a long way. Man. Gus says, Robin
- 3:52is the only one in the East Blue, but I believe Chopper's kingdom is
- 3:54in the South Blue. Oh I didn't catch that. Huh, Well that's
- 4:01interesting. So the whole thing with Robin here, she is also in a
- 4:11snowy climb. Actually, you know what I have to forget. I keep
- 4:15forgetting that each of these episodes starts off with some time with the Snake Princess
- 4:19and Lufy, so we have got to check in with them before we actually
- 4:25talk about Robin. But this this, I want to be more frustrated with
- 4:39the storyline of the snake Princess. I want to feel like more more offended
- 4:46by the fact that this like incredibly powerful woman is being treated like a jealous
- 4:51child, and I can't muster it up. I just don't care. It's
- 4:58funny. It's funny in a way that I know is inherently problematic, and
- 5:04that is an extremely powerful aloof woman who thinks extremely highly of herself has been
- 5:15brought low by her adoration of a very unhot dude. I won't say that
- 5:25Lucy's not extraordinary, I won't insult him, but I will say that he
- 5:30is not somebody that you would look at twice on the street very likely.
- 5:35And that's unfortunately, like a fantasy of a lot of dudes is making.
- 5:42A powerful woman decides to set everything aside because she is so into you that
- 5:49she stops caring about her own things entirely, and her entire identity begins to
- 5:55center around how much she cares about you and would do anything for you.
- 6:00So I understand that the fantasy here is actually kind of gross, and because
- 6:10of who she is, it makes it sort of worse in terms of her
- 6:13The power structure on this island and this all women island, and you know
- 6:16all of that. I can see that, but I cannot find it in
- 6:26myself to be particularly upset by it, because it's so absurdly over the top
- 6:31the way they're playing it with her, that it's just always funny. So
- 6:38here we have her, she's gotten a ton of food for Lofy, and
- 6:42every time he speaks we see. It's interesting because before, when he would
- 6:47say something, she would sort of think to herself, that is exactly how
- 6:51he would say it, because it was in her fantasy him responding to something
- 6:59that she had an actually set out loud. It was always something like,
- 7:02you know, that she was being more eloquent and whatever than she was actually
- 7:06being at the moment, and her imagining how he would have responded if she
- 7:12had had the guts to say that or whatever. But what's weird is that
- 7:15here what she's imagining seems to be less that she is like coming up with
- 7:23fictional scenarios and more that she is putting words in Lufy's mouth. Like it's
- 7:30almost like when we go to the version of things where he's surrounded by roses
- 7:34and starbursts and whatever. It's not a fantasy. It's almost just us getting
- 7:42to see what she sees. So when she's like, how is it and
- 7:47he says, uh, you know, it's really good. It cuts immediately
- 7:51to him in that like blurred state, and he is saying, thank you,
- 7:58darling, And when we cut back to her, she does not say
- 8:07that is what he would say. It's like she has fully crossed over to
- 8:13seeing the situation the way that she wants to see it. So she asks
- 8:20him if he wants tea. He says, sure, I'll bruce him up.
- 8:26Then, so why don't you tell me a little about your friends?
- 8:28I don't know a thing. Of course, you don't have to if you
- 8:31don't want to. I'm just making conversation. It's not like I'm trying to
- 8:35dig into your personal life and find out every little thing about you, which
- 8:39I did think was kind of cute. So he's wondering who of his friends
- 8:45to start off talking about, and then he names Nammy and Robin. Those
- 8:50sound like girls names, And when the camera pulls out, she's pouring hot
- 8:56water that has suddenly appeared directly to the tabletop. She's entirely missing the tea
- 9:01pot, and that we get her imagining I'm sorry, but I'm afraid you
- 9:09and I can't be together, and she's saying, but tell me why,
- 9:15lufy, and we see this like tearing happening between them on the screen and
- 9:20this confetti falling as she's because I'm already with Nammy and Robin. Nammi and
- 9:28Robin giggle and we come back and she's like made the tea, but now
- 9:35she's pouring it into a cup and it's overflowing and she's thinking to herself,
- 9:39I don't care. I won't give up that easily, and he just says,
- 9:43you really suck at making tea, and that's the end of the scene
- 9:48between the two of them for this episode. Honestly, that was very funny.
- 9:54You really suck at making tea, It's true she does. So then
- 10:01we find Robin. Like I said in the snow, a little girl finds
- 10:07her. Everybody's being found by children, it feels like. And this girl
- 10:13brings her back to this compound is like the best word I can come up
- 10:18with. There are guards. One of them is like drinking from a flask
- 10:22and doesn't see them as they pass by, and it's clear that they're having
- 10:26to sort of keep a low profile. There's nobody on the streets but guards,
- 10:31and when they she is brought into the building, there are these women
- 10:37who are gathered and it seems like all women. I don't know if I'm
- 10:41misreading that or if it's just because they all are wearing like the same identical
- 10:46outfit that it's just difficult for me to like see. But it might be
- 10:54that in this workplace people are separated by gender. But this girl comes in
- 11:03and they are upset with her for having to like gone out without checking with
- 11:07any of them. Apparently this is super against the rules, pretty dangerous and
- 11:11the sort of thing that she should really know better. And her name is
- 11:15Saran or Soren, I don't remember which emphasis. But these women are looking
- 11:24at Robin and are worried about what her deal is, you know. They
- 11:31all think maybe she's a refugee, refugee or a fugitive, and they're like,
- 11:39why would she come here? This is not the place to go.
- 11:43And Robin's sort of thinking, okay, you know what, I'm just gonna
- 11:46take off. You guys clearly don't want me here. Sarron stops her,
- 11:52and one of the women who's got pigtails a stick out to each side.
- 12:00She is the one who winds up giving them up later. She's the snitch.
- 12:07She is talking to Saran and is like, you aren't the only one
- 12:11who lives here. It's going to be all of our asses if they find
- 12:15out you've brought this woman here. I do not want to deal with what
- 12:20they're going to do to us. And this little girl is saying, I'll
- 12:24take the blame, which is noble and everything, But once you find out
- 12:30what they do to people, to question them, like they torture them.
- 12:33We don't get details on exactly what that looks like, but it's implied that
- 12:37it's like pretty awful physical torture. All I could think was like, they're
- 12:43not going to let her do that. You know. They're asking where do
- 12:48you plan on hiding her? And she says she'll stay in my room in
- 12:52the loft upstairs. And everybody's like, well, maybe for like a day
- 12:56or two she would be okay up there, but this snitch, you can't
- 13:01be serious. We should turn her in before it's too late and we get
- 13:05caught now, they think, and I understand this, the fact that she's
- 13:15in the building at all, it's too late they're going to get in trouble
- 13:18for having let her in to begin with. I don't know that that's true,
- 13:22but everybody is clearly very cowed by the situation. And when Saron sort
- 13:30of like presents as if she's going to stay longer than that, they're like,
- 13:33dude, first of all, no, we can't do that. You
- 13:37know how dangerous that is. But secondly, she shouldn't want to stay here
- 13:41for longer than that, because this is a bad place. She don't need
- 13:43to be here. So up in the loft, Saran is making Robin this
- 13:52little bowl of rice, and it's like, clear, this is almost all
- 13:56she's got, you know. It's interesting that she has her own separate sort
- 14:01of living space. And I don't know if this is sanctioned or if people
- 14:05just let her have this because of her being a child or what. But
- 14:11she says that she hasn't left here since she was born, and so the
- 14:16smell of the outside world on Robin smells really good to her, and she's
- 14:20like, did you come from a warm climate? And when Robin says,
- 14:24yeah, on a ship, the little girl gets really excited and starts asking
- 14:31all these questions about like what the birds and the flowers were like, like,
- 14:35what was everything like? And it turns out that this little girl draws
- 14:41pictures of the world and they're pretty accurate actually in a lot of cases.
- 14:48So the bell rings in the middle of their meal, and Robin's like,
- 14:54really, you have to go to work now. It's the middle of the
- 14:58night. And the girl says, We've got a work all day and all
- 15:01night, but I'd love to hear about your travels when I get back,
- 15:07and Robin says, all right, I'll be here. But you can see
- 15:11her sort of this feels like a real bad situation. And she's chilling by
- 15:16this window, hidden with only the lantern and this is like otherwise the room's
- 15:22just got like packing boxes in it, and she pulls out the Viverra card
- 15:26for Raley and is watching it, and it's sort of like, I don't
- 15:31know if I'm going to be able to meet up with them, what am
- 15:33I even gonna do? She falls asleep. There's a storm the windows like
- 15:41literally rattling, and that we get this sort of fuzzy I don't know if
- 15:50it's supposed to be that like Robin is dreaming, or if it's just meant
- 15:56to be a vague impression of what it was like for them while they weren't
- 16:00with Robin. Regardless, she wakes up and Sarran is just coming back and
- 16:06it's clear, like the sun is coming up, and Saran says, we're
- 16:11trying to build a bridge. This country is nothing but one giant bridge,
- 16:17and we get a view from the outside, and indeed, this bridge goes
- 16:22on and on and on, and it's supposed to connect islands and all of
- 16:29the like all of the buildings are located on this bridge and there's no land.
- 16:38I don't know how they're doing this, but she says the construction has
- 16:42been going on for centuries. And when Robin tries to ask her further questions,
- 16:52Saran is like, do you mind if we don't talk about this and
- 16:56talk about like cool stuff like where you're from and what you've seen, because
- 17:00honestly, I'm much much more interested in that. So Robin tells her about
- 17:08where she's from, the different islands she's visited, and this little girl is
- 17:12so excited about it, and she goes and gets these really cool it looks
- 17:19like sort of charcoal drawings that she has done on wood. She says,
- 17:25I drew them all from my imagination since I've never been outside Tequila Wolf.
- 17:33You know what I'm gonna say right that name is bananas tequila Wolf. What
- 17:42Like, I'm almost offended because this place sucks so bad and tequila Wolf is
- 17:52like one of the cooler names this show has had for a location. And
- 17:56how come it had to be wasted like on this work camp spot. I'm
- 18:03very pissed. I really want to know, you guys, what Oda's process
- 18:11is for coming up with the names of locations. It's weird. It's weird,
- 18:19Like I will never get over in his lobby. That's just such a
- 18:23strange one, you know, like lobby. It feels almost like a translation
- 18:33thing because like a lobby is a place technically, so if you just searched
- 18:38for names of places, I could see the word lobby coming up and not
- 18:44understanding the context that's necessary for that using that. But that's really the only
- 18:51one of that type that I can think of where it's like really a place
- 18:57otherwise, And it just feels so strange. Then, And what was the
- 19:04one that where what is the place that Lufy is heading to? Now?
- 19:11The name of the spot that Ace is being held captive in Gus is saying
- 19:17whiskey peak to quila impelled down. Whiskey peak is like totally makes sense.
- 19:23Whiskey peak feels like a real place. That's a name that I would not
- 19:26doubt is out there somewhere. You know, I would not be surprised if
- 19:30there's like a restaurant chain or something called whiskey peak or just that sounds.
- 19:37Whiskey is a word that is used for a lot of like folksy kind of
- 19:47things, weirdly, and peak is just that is the name of a place
- 19:52in a lot of maps, I accept whiskey peak. That's actually, out
- 19:56of all of the names of place is probably the one that is the most
- 20:02real sounding. Impel down, Like the Downs are a place I think in
- 20:14England, and I think that's like a type of meadow or something. I'm
- 20:17not sure, so maybe down works in that sense. Impel I don't really
- 20:26get what that means or why that's a thing. But like tequil a wolf,
- 20:30it's just like a mad libs of two random words. It wolf would
- 20:37be the descriptor if you did like wolf peak, that I would see as
- 20:41a real place. Wolf's peak that sounds real. But if you say te
- 20:48quel a wolf. That's really not anything that said again, it sounds cool,
- 20:56it just doesn't make any sense as like a place name. And it's
- 21:00weird because, like, you know, not all of our locals are like
- 21:06this. Some of them are just like Sabiode. That's just a name,
- 21:11period. There's no attempt to sort of like add words to it, to
- 21:15give it a more intense sort of title. It's just Sabode and that's it,
- 21:22and Alabasta same thing. It's just a name with the name of a
- 21:26whole country, and that sounds like it's just, you know, I don't
- 21:33know how to explain what I'm saying. It's just it feels like some of
- 21:36the names I can completely accept at face value. This is what it's called,
- 21:41and I never even think about it, And then their names that come
- 21:44up that I'm just like what I also kept thriller bark. I feel like
- 21:52a bark is a type of ship. Am I wrong? Did I look
- 21:56this up? I feel like I looked this up at one point, and
- 22:00so that like wound up sort of making sense, even though it does hit
- 22:07the ear really weird. Initially, Sorry, Gus is saying, have you
- 22:15ever looked up the weirdest city names in the US. There's stuff like Kingdom
- 22:18of Satan, Ohio. But see, you're not like Gus. What I'm
- 22:25saying is it's not the names of places that are wild sounding. Kingdom of
- 22:32Satan is an insane name in what it means, but those words go together,
- 22:40Kingdom of Blank, that's just a name that makes sense. If this
- 22:47was Kingdom of Tequil a Wolf, it would still be insane, but there
- 22:52would still be a feeling of like, Okay, you know, it's just
- 22:56te quill a Wolf, which frankly sounds like a Quentin Tarantino movie or something.
- 23:04It doesn't. Those words don't mean anything, and if you heard somebody
- 23:11saying something about Tequila Wolf in a conversation, you would never, in your
- 23:15wildest dreams believe that was the name of a country, you know what I'm
- 23:18saying. So it's just like, that's the part that I keep stort of
- 23:22being like, what is the naming convention that he goes with at any given
- 23:26time, because it's all over the place, and sometimes it works completely and
- 23:30I don't even think about it, and then other times I'm just like every
- 23:34time I remember, it's like I'm hitting a wall again, Samodi means bubbly,
- 23:41slash soapy. I think I like that. I mean that makes sense,
- 23:45okay, But yeah, like some of the names in the US,
- 23:49like of towns, are really funny. I will never when I first moved
- 23:52down here. First of all, there's just like the americanization of words that
- 23:57happens with the names of places. There's a place near me and it is
- 24:02spelled the town is spelled c E l I n A Selena. Right.
- 24:11You look at that and you're like, Selena. It's not the name of
- 24:15like, it's not spelled the same way as the pop star. But it's
- 24:18very clear, in my opinion, how that's meant to be pronounced. But
- 24:22they don't. In Texas, they say Salina, which is very close to
- 24:27Saliva, which I fucking hate. It's awful, it's gross. I hate
- 24:33it. But we also have a town right near me named flower Mound f
- 24:41l o w er Mound. I mean, that's like one step away from
- 24:49being a one piece location because mound. Who's using the word mound to describe
- 24:56their town. That's a horrible word. It makes sound like a trash heap,
- 25:02just like a pile. And when you call a place a pile.
- 25:07That's like a British word to mean something's a dump. Why would you do
- 25:14that? Oh, oh, Satan's Kingdom, Massachusetts. That's funny. I
- 25:22really wonder what it's like to lose someplace like that. I remember that one,
- 25:26but I think there were a lot of others that were words that just
- 25:29didn't make sense together. I'm willing to believe that. But you know,
- 25:33it's the sort of thing where, if you're writing fiction and you can do
- 25:36whatever, choosing this instead of it just being something that happens because of fucking
- 25:41weirdos who found it a town two hundred years ago. You're choosing the names
- 25:45of these places, and to choose this, it's just really funny. So
- 25:49anyway, whiskey peak I stand by as the most believable name, but tequila
- 25:57wolf is the least believable name by far. I think that the whiskey thing
- 26:03too. In the US, because we had prohibition, their whiskey got like
- 26:15used as the name for all kinds of things because of locations being key for
- 26:22bootlegging and stuff. So I think that's why whiskey is used so much more
- 26:26often here. But you don't, you know, tequila is made with ingredients
- 26:32that we did not farm up here, so we didn't have bootlegged tequila going
- 26:37on most of the time, and I think that's probably why tequila is not
- 26:41something that's I wonder if it's something that gets used more in Mexico or you
- 26:47know, in Central America in general. But I don't believe there was ever
- 26:49a prohibition there, so I don't know how much there had to be secret
- 26:53locations and sneakiness and stealth and stuff with that. I'm sorry, Gus.
- 27:03There's a river slash county near me named Poudre. Is how I'm reading it
- 27:07p O U d R. I think it's Spanish, but people pronounce it
- 27:12pooter. I have no idea if that's correct or an americanization, though I'm
- 27:22gonna go and hazard guess that is not correct. Like I said, I
- 27:27went with Pudre because I'm thinking about it almost looks like Padre. So Pudre
- 27:34is my automatic, like you know, Pooter. Why are we like this?
- 27:42Why do we need like? Is it purposefully making things sound like body
- 27:47parts like saliva? Why are we like this? I just I want answers
- 27:56anyway. Okay, Sorry, guys, I know I got totally. So
- 27:59these these drawings that she says she's doing it from her mind, but she
- 28:03says, whenever I'm drawing it, it makes me feel like I'm there,
- 28:06Like I'm actually visiting that island, and I forget all about being stuck here,
- 28:10and these places look like real places. At one point, she's drawn
- 28:15Sky Island and I love this. This little girl is like, wait,
- 28:18that's a real place. And can you imagine you, guys, if you
- 28:22were just like a little kid who draws fun shit and you drew a town
- 28:26with all the castles in clouds and somebody was like, oh, I've been
- 28:30there and you found out that this was like a real thing, Oh my
- 28:36lord, I would lose my whole mind. And she's like, will you
- 28:40tell me all about it? And all of the ladies, it turns out,
- 28:44are like right nearby, and they're like, we would also like to
- 28:47hear about this, actually, if you wouldn't mind, And she's the little
- 28:55girl kind of pauses here and it's like, our lives are very hard here.
- 29:00But maybe making this bridge is sort of a noble thing because it'll help
- 29:04connect the world and once it's done, everybody will get to see so many
- 29:10beautiful islands whenever they want. Maybe you know, it will help others travel
- 29:15all over the world, which is what I would want to do. And
- 29:19we get this really cute little bit with her, like in this she's in
- 29:26like yellow overalls and she's standing in one spot painting and there are these islands
- 29:32that are being connected by rainbows. Again, it's all been very Lisa Frank
- 29:37lately, and I'm into it. I'm behind this, And I kind of
- 29:44was like, she's really trying to put a positive spin on this thing that's
- 29:48like objectively so horrible, but I can respect it, Okay, Gus says,
- 29:56I looked it up. Apparently it's the correct pronunciation pooter. I do
- 30:00not believe you. And it's French for powder. I don't believe it as
- 30:06I don't know. I just I really would like you to get a second
- 30:11opinion on that pronunciation. That's all I'm saying. You have to find like
- 30:15a YouTube video, one of those ones where they just say like a single
- 30:19word there. I think I've mentioned this another podcast, but somebody made like
- 30:25a spoof channel like that where they claim to be helping you learn how to
- 30:30pronounce things, but they actually give you the wrong pronunciation on purpose, and
- 30:36I think that's hysterical, and I like want to be mad at the person
- 30:38for doing that and duping unsuspecting people, But also that's very funny. So
- 30:47Robin like this. This is a really sweet little conversation. The girl is
- 30:52so excited, and the fact that these other women are deeply beaten down and
- 31:00sad and want to be part of it is just heartwarming and heartbreaking. Then,
- 31:07of course we cut to the snitch outside, who says, don't forget
- 31:12we made a deal. As this guy walks away, I held up my
- 31:18end, so you have to get me out of this country. Now we
- 31:22don't see him reply to her, and I really have to wonder if she's
- 31:29actually going to get her end of the deal, Like how much do you
- 31:41trust? This is the thing when you have the sort of system that relies
- 31:47on people ratting each other out the what's the word I want to say,
- 31:53the compensation for turning their fellow workers in. You have got to prove that
- 32:02compensation is real, that there's a reason to expect it, or else people
- 32:07aren't going to continue to provide you with information. So if we were looking
- 32:13at this from a totally rational standpoint, they would get her out of there,
- 32:17because if people knew going to them with secret info actually wound up backfiring
- 32:23and you don't get anything out of it, nobody would would do it anymore.
- 32:28But the way that this universe seems to work is very much we want
- 32:32to show the bad guys are really bad guys in the short term, and
- 32:35we don't consider the long term of any of our approaches to things. So
- 32:42I'm going to guess, also for the sake of like immediate gratification, that
- 32:46this girl gets what she deserves. She's not getting off of this island or
- 32:52this bridge or whatever. So we see the raid and all of the these
- 33:00men are just completely tossing the place. Apparently the women who are up in
- 33:06the loft, it's like they aren't aware the loft exists. I'm not totally
- 33:10sure, like immediately whether they know to go up there, but you know,
- 33:17we've got the whole place being turned over, and eventually they find their
- 33:24way up there. You know, she's harboring a suspicious woman, somebody is.
- 33:30There are too many people out there opposed to the construction of the bridge.
- 33:32Now turn her over. And Robin has snuck out one of the windows
- 33:38and is sort of hiding out on the roof why so she can hear this
- 33:45whole conversation happening, but she's not actually in the room. She's not like
- 33:49hiding behind a closet door or something. And this lady is telling him like,
- 33:53we are tired and just want to go to sleep. We aren't hiding
- 33:58anybody, now leave us alone. And some dude just like comes up and
- 34:02knocks her to the floor, and the head guy in charge is like,
- 34:08well, if you want to do this the hard way, we could do
- 34:12that too. If you're familiar with our interrogation tactics, I guess you're gonna
- 34:17get what you want. One of the slavers actually does open a window and
- 34:24look both ways outside, and I was sort of impressed at the fact that
- 34:28he was that thorough, because I feel like a lot of people would not
- 34:32have bothered. He does not find anything. Robin likely would have left some
- 34:37footprints in the snow, but you know, probably let's just say she did
- 34:42it so high up he can't see them from where he is. So they
- 34:45find the drawings of this little girl's islands, and this dude laughs at her
- 34:51like it's the funniest thing he's ever seen. That's some sixth sense of irony.
- 34:55You've got their kid, and it's just such a weird thing to like,
- 35:01Oh, I'm going to personally enjoy mocking this child's dreams of eventually like
- 35:07being somewhere else. And I want to say that it's beyond belief, but
- 35:10it's not, because they're just bully assholes out there who are just like this.
- 35:15And he holds up each of these drawings in front of her, and
- 35:19again they're on pieces of wood, so when she doesn't answer, he just
- 35:23starts breaking them in half, just to push her to the edge. And
- 35:32he says, if you want off to quel a Wolf, cooperate and I
- 35:38can get you out of here. And she says, I don't know.
- 35:45I appreciate this as much as it would be easy to just be like,
- 35:49fine, I'll just tell you, because I really do want off. She
- 35:52isn't willing to just betray Robin immediately. I wouldn't have been that matter her,
- 35:58you know, honestly, considering everything. But I also again don't know
- 36:04how much to trust that he says this would happen, that he would actually
- 36:07get her off this place. So the last drawing that he comes to.
- 36:13He picks the sky Island drawing, and when he threatens to break that,
- 36:21she really begins to lose it. And I thought here she would crack,
- 36:24but she just says, look, I really don't know, and he drops
- 36:30all of the drawings on the ground and just stumps them into a million pieces.
- 36:36It is truly hilarious how angry this man gets because of this little girl,
- 36:43Like, sir, I don't know what you think you're proving here,
- 36:45but it is so embarrassing. You are sad, just a sad man.
- 36:52And of course we have to get like take them all into the dungeons and
- 36:58torture them and tell they tell, that's what we want to hear. And
- 37:00I want the kid to get the worst of it. Like really, so
- 37:07outside, all of these men are like firing all of a sudden, So
- 37:14the dudes who are in the loft have stopped and are going, well,
- 37:17wait, what's going on? And then we see Robin and she is attacking
- 37:23the dude's firing and correct me if I'm wrong. Kids breaking their necks.
- 37:34Wow. Like most of the time on this show, people get injuries that
- 37:39you can take as being fatal in a sense, but there's not a real
- 37:45like, oh, that person's for sure dead from that. But this is
- 37:50there's no way you make the gesture she's making and a person drops and they
- 37:55haven't been killed. Like that's the only way that this would happen. I'm
- 38:02fine with it for the record, but damn. And yeah, this last
- 38:07guy who's trying to be like, what are you doing, put your hands
- 38:12up or I'll shoot, And she stares at him for a second and then
- 38:16she just twitches her hand and he begins to literally run away from her and
- 38:22say, I'm not I don't hurt me, I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
- 38:29But when she doesn't hurt him, he turns around like crawls back to his
- 38:36gun and yells to his cronies. And I was like, you are not
- 38:37worth the fucking air your breathing, sir. She just let you live and
- 38:43you just do this shit. This pitiful, honestly. So all of the
- 38:50guys that are in the laft, like the women are yelling why they have
- 38:54her. They're telling you they have her, Just go fucking get her from
- 38:59them and stop harassing us. One of the ladies says, you've worn out,
- 39:04You're welcome here. Which is the sort of thing that you say to
- 39:07a person that you can actually do something too. It felt like a flex
- 39:10that she couldn't back up, But she's also really really big, so I
- 39:15don't know, maybe she could. So yeah, he yells to if he's
- 39:21got like fucking those bloodshot eyes and stuff, and he yells to one of
- 39:28the guys to like go and back him up and threatens them one last time.
- 39:35But then he walks over to the hatch and I guess he just thought
- 39:37there was like a staircase there, or the staircase was on the wrong side.
- 39:42It's a ladder, just so you know, and he just falls through
- 39:46the floor. It's actually very funny because when he falls, one of his
- 39:52men on the ground floor comes up to him and he's like, sir,
- 39:55are you okay? And he just looks up and goes ra There was something
- 40:01about that that just was very very funny to me. So the long story
- 40:09short, there's a whole new set of gunmen they have surrounded Robin. She
- 40:15is sitting on the body of one of the men that she has taken down
- 40:19in the midst of them, with her legs crossed like she's on a talk
- 40:22show. Or something, and the dude that's like in charge is explaining to
- 40:30her that everybody who builds this bridge, everybody is here because they are criminals.
- 40:37Either that or there's citizens of countries that refuse to ally with the world
- 40:42government. So they've been toiling to build this wall or this, oh god,
- 40:51this bridge. And we have a scene of like somebody falling from exhaustion
- 40:59and a person coming and like beating the shit out of them to get them
- 41:01up, and the captain says, in short, their slaves. And she
- 41:07says, how long until the bridge is done? I have no idea,
- 41:09but it's been under constant construction for seven hundred years. And when she asks
- 41:16for what, he says, you don't need to concern yourself with that.
- 41:22And that's a really you know, I was taking it for granted that this
- 41:29little girl was right in saying, Oh, it's to bring us to new
- 41:32places and meet new people. And now I'm like, it didn't even occur
- 41:37to me that there was something nefarious that could happen with a bridge, but
- 41:42sure, and he says, all you need to worry about is building this
- 41:47bridge, because that's what you're going to do now. And I was like,
- 41:51sir, I don't know if you saw her bring down like a group
- 41:52of ten men, She's not actually going to be doing any of that.
- 42:01So we cut then to us Up, who is at the Bowen Islands.
- 42:06They are artichoke shaped, lotus shaped, They're really cool looking, and Usup
- 42:13is in the middle of a dream about how you know, he's the one
- 42:16that's going to lead his friends with him on this expedition and then if only
- 42:24they could have actually been with me for this, and it's sort of like,
- 42:30I don't know if it was a little bit confusing to anybody else,
- 42:37but we have seen everybody waking up from having passed out when they hit the
- 42:45ground, and with us Up, we start off with him already awake and
- 42:51talking about being the hero of the party. So I really thought this was
- 42:58a dream, you know. I thought that he was having something the way
- 43:01that Chopper did, where he was he was having a dream about like his
- 43:07ideal situation where all of his friends were there but they all respected his judgment
- 43:10and we're like following him as a leader. And then it turns out he's
- 43:15actually awake and he's actually got like, you know, all of his stuff
- 43:22with him and everything is what it looks like. I kept waiting for things
- 43:29to be like, Oh, and then he woke up. But no.
- 43:31So he's in these woods. It's a jungle really. There's nobody with him,
- 43:38so he's starting to go a little stir crazy mentally. There are rustlings
- 43:45in the underbrush around him, and he does not like the sound of any
- 43:49of it. Of course, he gets freaked out because who knows what kind
- 43:51of fucking animals are going to be dealing with, and he keeps yelling,
- 43:57hoping that he's going to rouse somebody, but starts to to the conclusion that
- 44:00the island is totally uninhabited, and he starts to get pretty emotional about it,
- 44:07which I'm not mad about. It's very you know Tom Hanks Castaway sort
- 44:13of vibes. So then we have the local fauna getting involved. There is
- 44:22a giant beetle that starts chasing him, and as he's running away from it,
- 44:30a spear gets thrown so close that it actually like rubs up against his
- 44:35nose, and we have a very funny scene of him flying past this beetle
- 44:39while his huge nose carries him across as well, and he and the beetle
- 44:45both land head first in the ground, but so does some strange man who's
- 44:50got a beetle shaped sort of carapace over his cloak and also has like I
- 44:57think I could call that a tunic and hope. So it's a real uh
- 45:04all right, this guy saved Usa, but what the hell? And when
- 45:07he stands up, he's got a helm on that's got a like almost looks
- 45:12like pincers on the top, but they are I'm used to like, I
- 45:15always think of pincers as being side by side, the way that antlers are,
- 45:19but often they're not there. It's uh, you know, front to
- 45:22back. And he has a weird sort of fur I don't know if you're
- 45:30gonna call it rough, but it almost looks like a beard. It also
- 45:32goes out the side, so it could just be like beard and hair,
- 45:36but there's something about it that to me look like it was attached to his
- 45:40clothing and not his head. So this guy says that his name is heracles
- 45:51In, and it turns out he just adds in to the end of like
- 45:54the end of every sentence. I guess, really is what it is.
- 45:59Us up says, Oh, that's a pretty cool name. You got there,
- 46:02and he says, really, you think so, And when he says
- 46:06that, he's really it seems like that mattered to him. So Usop is
- 46:10excited. There's a person. He's chatting. It's nice to have a company.
- 46:15He finds a fruit that he's interested in eating, and he asks,
- 46:20is this safe to eat? I've never seen one like this before, and
- 46:23Heracles says sure, us Up, it's fine. By the way, you
- 46:28can call me Heracles in and us ups like, yeah, okay, I
- 46:34heard you the first time. Sure. Anyway, So he starts to get
- 46:38ready to eat the fruit and he turns around and there is this giant worm
- 46:46that licks him. It looks like a worm. It's apparently a plant.
- 46:54These are men eating plants in Usup is like, excuse use me, And
- 47:00then we get this weird chase scene of all of these different vegetables who are
- 47:08attempting to eat him up. And that's it. That's the end of the
- 47:13episode. It's so weird, Like Robin had a full twenty minutes and then
- 47:17USAP had like five. If that so okay, then we're gonna jump to
- 47:25and this one was I'm like, you know, running out of time here,
- 47:30but I don't really think it's too big a deal regarding Zoro's situation because
- 47:37he has it turns out landed on that strange island that Pirona had asked to
- 47:47be on, which is really fun. I hadn't expected to see her again
- 47:53and getting to find out that she was like sent to exactly where she asked
- 47:59to go. Ba Basically, it's not what she wanted it really, but
- 48:02it's pretty good. So I'm gonna just read her dialogue here because reminder,
- 48:10you know, Kuma straight up goes where if you could go on vacation anywhere,
- 48:16where would you go? And she say, repeating, I know what
- 48:21I said. If I were to travel anywhere in the world, I would
- 48:23want to go someplace dark and damp with a creepy old castle, and I
- 48:28would spend all my days singing songs of curses. And she's really mad because
- 48:36even though she got what she wanted, technically, this place doesn't have any
- 48:43maids, there are no servers, there's nothing cute, no bagel sandwiches and
- 48:49hot chocolate served to me in bed every morning. And to top it off,
- 48:52there isn't a single stuffed animal here. And I'm really curious about were
- 49:00like look, I had theorized before about how maybe Kuma can send you where
- 49:09you would like to go, right, and their ideal places for some of
- 49:15them do seem to have you know, Nami got a weather island and Frankie
- 49:19gotten a mechanics island like that seemed cool if you look at like Sanji's island.
- 49:25The deal with everything there is they all have girlish hearts. So maybe
- 49:30you could argue that he technically sent Sanji somewhere that he would have liked.
- 49:35It just wasn't specific enough. With Chopper still not born out, don't know
- 49:43still what's going on with Chopper And I can't imagine with us up what the
- 49:51deal is unless heracles and turns out to be an inventor, you know,
- 49:54of some kind. He has really strong uh sniper man what's his name energy
- 50:05to him. So I'm wondering is this like, is that why Ucep has
- 50:09wound up here not because of the place, but because of the person and
- 50:13like his wild adventures. I don't know. With Robin, she does like
- 50:19to fight injustice, like we know that, so maybe that's why she got
- 50:23put where she did. But it also could be about like opposing the world
- 50:30government, and this being a secret operation of theirs somehow, uh Soga King,
- 50:35thank you guys, the monkeys, Paw paw, fruit curls and other
- 50:39Tobean, Oh god, Toban. So anyway, this whole thing with Pirona,
- 50:47she's like really lonely and she just wants to go back to Killer Bark.
- 50:52And as she's crying, you see this like Cliff in the background,
- 50:57and it's all curly, like the Nightmare before Christmas Cliff, And I think
- 51:00that's completely intentional. So this is when Zoro crash lands and she's like,
- 51:07oh sweet, there's somebody else here. I hope it's somebody cute. But
- 51:14then she sees that it's a fucking straw hat and she's like, god damn
- 51:17it. And long story short, she decides that she's going to bring him
- 51:28in and wrap him up and nurse him back to health and then turn him
- 51:32into one of her servants, which of course he has absolutely no interest in.
- 51:38And he's got a ton of bandages on him when he wakes up,
- 51:42but later she puts even more on him to make him in the shape of
- 51:46her stuff teddy bear pet that she had that servant. So I'm wondering like
- 51:55if Kuma put Zoro where he would want to be. I guess it's like
- 52:00fighting a worthy opponent maybe, like why is he here? Pirona chose it
- 52:09specifically because of the look and location, and for him, he got sent
- 52:15to someplace with a specific person. I'm willing to accept that. And she
- 52:22basically like subjugates Zoro by using the you know, negative ghosts on him repeatedly.
- 52:31But it's like a kind of disturbing scene actually, with him attempting to
- 52:36fight back and her constantly like breaking his like his spirit, over and over
- 52:45again. And it's funny if you don't think about too hard how actually horrifying
- 52:52that is. It's funny too because at one point he's going out the wrong
- 52:59door or and she's like, where are you even going? The exits that
- 53:04way, and then she stops and she's like, a shit, I probably
- 53:07shouldn't have just told him how to get out of here, but Zoro is
- 53:12so bad at directions that he just goes the wrong way. Even though there's
- 53:15like two other doors and she very clearly pointed at one of them, he
- 53:21still picks the other door, which, honestly, that was a good joke
- 53:25I thought that was really funny. So yeah, she tries to turn him
- 53:31into a stuffed animal. It's so weird because eventually it cuts from a scene
- 53:38where he is definitely still wrapped in bandages to completely all the bandages are gone,
- 53:45and it's really really sudden, and I didn't understand what was supposed to
- 53:47have happened, because he doesn't have his swords on him. It's not like,
- 53:52you know, he could just cut all of this off of him,
- 53:54and it's you know, he is looking at her after trying to exit the
- 54:00wrong way. He glares as she's telling him, oh my god, you're
- 54:06still going the wrong way, and then it cuts to him walking out the
- 54:10door and he is completely unwrapped. It's really strange. I almost felt like
- 54:16that might be like just an animating mistake. I don't know. So he's
- 54:24leaving, she calls after him, and he says, unless you're gonna tell
- 54:30me where you hid my swords, I don't want to fucking talk to you.
- 54:32So she's like, you know what, and she lets him go,
- 54:38but does that thing where she sends like a copy of herself ahead of him
- 54:43in the hall. And it's really funny because like after he leaves, she
- 54:46genuinely looks really bummed. It's like she doesn't want to be at odds with
- 54:53him because she's so lonely, you know. So anyway, she stops him
- 55:01in the hall. She's turned her herself into a giant version of herself and
- 55:07is staring down at him and tells him, you're not going to get away
- 55:09that easy, because I've been lonely far too long. And he turns and
- 55:15there's a giant ghost coming down the hallway at him. We hear him yell,
- 55:19and then that's it for her. Zoro. I'm going to wrap this
- 55:25one pretty quick because that's all it deserves. But this next one is Brooke
- 55:34and we've got a group of Satan worshippers. It's very funny because the Satan
- 55:42worshipper is wearing a ram's head on his head that looks like the figurehead of
- 55:49the Going Mary, like very very similar. And there are all these candles
- 55:53burning with like a orange center and purple tips. It's cool looking, I'll
- 55:59say that. And the name of this place is something like Hungaria and it's
- 56:08like the country of poverty. So I don't know if it's supposed to be
- 56:14that they are so desperate that they're doing devil worship because they've got nothing left.
- 56:20Because the building they're in doing this ritual is like the one standing building
- 56:27in a field that's apparently surrounded by debris of other kinds, and there's a
- 56:36storm going on outside and the buildings on stilts. So I thought maybe it
- 56:40was like all of these other places got destroyed as the result of flooding,
- 56:44like a hurricane, monsoon something like that. So anyway, they're doing their
- 56:50summoning and there's this flash of light and a hole in the ceiling as something
- 56:57falls through it, and there's Brooke waking up slowly in the middle of this
- 57:05like crater in the floor that he has made, and he is really worried
- 57:12about his friends and is there's a real sense for him of I just made
- 57:16these friends and now somebody sent me to God fucking knows where. And I've
- 57:21got to admit, guys, this broke my heart. Like he's just been
- 57:23through it, he only just found some people, and now already he gets
- 57:30like ripped apart. I hated it. So he says something about how he
- 57:36has to go find them, and all these guys are like panicking because they
- 57:38need him to stay because they think he's Satan answering their prayer, and they
- 57:45decide, okay, well make him a sacrifice. We have to give him
- 57:50something to keep him around. And then there's this young girl off to the
- 57:55side, and my friends, the way this is drawn on, she looks
- 58:00like she's twelve. Like, it's so creepy. It's so creepy, y'all,
- 58:05I know, you know, but like, oh my god. So
- 58:08brook looks at this like a trembling, beautiful young blonde and says, would
- 58:16you mind showing me your panties, to which the head of the Satanists says
- 58:24he wants to see underwear. Everybody show him your underwear, which is amazing,
- 58:31and we just get Brooks saying, well, I don't need to see
- 58:37everyone's underwear. Oh, And I was sort of like, what was that?
- 58:45What was that moment? Was it that he was looking at men and
- 58:47finally caught sight of another woman or was there a man where he was like,
- 58:52actually, take it back, you men can show me yours too,
- 58:54Why not? But yeah, I what a weird So that's the end of
- 59:01his is him just going wow, And that's the end of the episode.
- 59:07It's it's oh no, I lie. We go back to Lufy for a
- 59:12little while here. I forgot about this because you know, he's not taking
- 59:15any pains to be quiet and hide the fact that he's here with Boa.
- 59:19So she's continuing to think about how Lufy like is probably in love with these
- 59:25two girls that are on his crew. We get an amazing bit where he's
- 59:29walking away, going it can't be tied down, babe, you're better off
- 59:32without me. It's so good. It's very funny. But they're overhearing her,
- 59:37Like the men outside are overhearing him and thinking it's her. And there's
- 59:44one guy who's like, never expected her to burp like that or talk that
- 59:49way, but honestly, I kind of funded a turn on. I was
- 59:52like Jesus, but yeah. So eventually all of them sort of gather up
- 1:00:00demand that she like show herself because there's certain that there's somebody else in there.
- 1:00:06But she finally just like strolls out and is going, I remind you
- 1:00:15I need that same like hundred kilos of food five times a day. I
- 1:00:21don't really care if you guys starved to death. And we have a brief
- 1:00:30chicken again with Lufy and Aces card, it's like barely bigger than his thumb.
- 1:00:36At this point, it's really really starting to burn down. We go
- 1:00:43to Navy headquarters. Briefly, famous marines from all the world are gathering at
- 1:00:47Marine for to prepare to battle to the death if need be, and we
- 1:00:54just like hear that they're gathering together, but there's no dialogue here of any
- 1:01:00kind. We don't actually see anything really happening. Captain Smoker is part of
- 1:01:04the crew, by the way, which I had forgotten that he was one
- 1:01:06of them, but I'm sort of excited to see him again. And at
- 1:01:13the like very end the there's uh, what's his name? I keep wanting
- 1:01:22to say, Garp? Is that his name? Gorp? He is standing
- 1:01:28outside Ace's cell Still It's sort of weird because like days have passed, but
- 1:01:36it's like he's been standing there in the same place the entire time. Garp,
- 1:01:43that is him, Okay, And he says, how are you doing
- 1:01:45with all those horrific wounds? Huh? Ace? And he says, because
- 1:01:53of you, Navy Headquarters is no all the world government is a mess.
- 1:02:00And he starts laughing, And I was like, does he approve because he
- 1:02:07worked against Lufy earlier, but I can't tell, like how much of that
- 1:02:13is part of him playing a part. I don't know. Ace tells him
- 1:02:16to kill him, so if he is, apparently Ace isn't aware of that,
- 1:02:23you know. But yeah, Garth just says everything's in motion, nothing
- 1:02:29stopping white Beard from fighting. It's gonna happen Son and it seems the Navy
- 1:02:36has made the King of the Sea mad as hell. And that is the
- 1:02:42end of the episode. So yeah, I have to wrap up. I
- 1:02:52really appreciate all of y'all. Thank you gus for hanging out with me.
- 1:02:57Hope everybody can find the event too, because I know it's moved and so
- 1:03:00there hasn't been a lot of people here lately, but it could just be
- 1:03:01a time thing. But I really enjoy having you, so I hope you're
- 1:03:07enjoying the content as much as I'm enjoying covering it. What a weird show.
- 1:03:13Until next time to the Loue motherfuckers. That was an Unspoiled Network podcast.
