- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Texanville Jaguar's fans welcome in to dovall daily presented by Jinjak.com and fueled by brass tax coffee right now.
- 0:06[SPEAKER_00]: We are recapping Jaguar's training camp practice from today Tuesday, August 18th.
- 0:11[SPEAKER_00]: Tomorrow the Jaguar hosts in the Panthers for joint practices.
- 0:14[SPEAKER_00]: They host the Panthers for a preseason game on Friday night.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_00]: The plan currently as of yesterday is
- 0:21[SPEAKER_00]: for the starters to play, potentially up to two drives for the jag wars, the healthy starters.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_00]: And there's a number of starters who aren't healthy at the moment.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_00]: Cole van Lannan is still on the pup, Hector slash PUP.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_00]: He's been working off to the side.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_00]: The plan is for him to be ready to go for the regular season.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_00]: I don't see anything that would make me feel like anything has changed there.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_00]: Haven't heard anything.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_00]: They would make me feel like anything has changed there.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_00]: So, no Colvin Atlanta at the moment, but it feels like we're trending towards him being back sooner rather than later.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_00]: Parker Washington out till next week.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_00]: So not a big deal.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_00]: He's technically like day-to-day, but he's not going to practice until next week.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_00]: As far as Parker goes, like, does he need more rep, does he need more work?
- 1:16[SPEAKER_00]: Not really.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, everybody can continue to
- 1:19[SPEAKER_00]: use more reps and time on task and chemistry with the quarterback and all that type of stuff.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_00]: But if there is a player who, like, I'm okay with missing a couple days, it's probably Parker Washington having said that.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_00]: It just feels like the injury bug is really coming after the Jaguars right now, which it stinks, man.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_00]: It absolutely does.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_00]: There's a couple more injuries to look at, but I did want to go ahead and remind y'all if you enjoy the content, it's all Jags all the time.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_00]: Please like and subscribe, you can also hit that high button.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_00]: So Washington, out till next week, still waiting on Cole Van Lannin to come back.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_00]: Why up myelom, also day to day, out till next week?
- 1:59[SPEAKER_00]: Myelom, I think, you know,
- 2:03[SPEAKER_00]: with, you know, a little, I would say is back.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_00]: Walker little, he was back for team today.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_00]: Yesterday he was back for individual today, he was back for team.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_00]: There wasn't pads today, but I mean, there was some contact.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_00]: So, I would say little is back.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_00]: Now my lens out, till next week, he's dead today, but he'll be out till next week, according to the Jags.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_00]: So, you have, among like your top players,
- 2:34[SPEAKER_00]: at offensive line, I would say mylam is like, if not top six, top seven, definitely on the team, you're missing him now.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_00]: He started against the Saints at right guard.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_00]: McCary, as we all know, how to back surgery, not exactly sure when McCary's supposed to be back.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_00]: He was out there today in his jersey, not practicing, but he was out there moving around looking all right.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_00]: When did he have the surgery, what's the timeline, will he start this season on IR, all this stuff is just up in there.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_00]: The McCary thing we talked about at length last night, you can go check it out, but he had back surgery, and I thought it was so interesting that the report said it's a blow to
- 3:26[SPEAKER_00]: any injury does hurt your death, sure, but like that phrasing when McCarrie is supposed to be a starter, it's pretty interesting.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars have plans for him to not be a starter already.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_00]: It is basically my question there.
- 3:42[SPEAKER_00]: But, uh, saw a lot of different offensive line combinations today.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_00]: 70, um, while we wait on him, Colvin Lannon, I think my favorite combo right now, you know,
- 3:56[SPEAKER_00]: with Colmanelina being out, with McCary being out, is Anton Harrison, a left tackle, a manual pregnant on at left guard.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_00]: The way they can play physical and nasty and get after you, I like that a lot.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_00]: Hainesy still is your starting center.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_00]: There's really no competition there right now.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_00]: I wouldn't be mad at all to see Jonah Monheim get some run there and see what he could do, but Hainesy is your starting center.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_00]: As a Cleveland at right guard and walk her little at right tackle.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_00]: That's the group I would be going with.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_00]: You saw that group some today and if the Jaguars, you know, if they still plan to play starters for up to a couple of drives against the Panthers on Friday night, I think that offensive line gives you enough protection for Trevor Lawrence to feel okay.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_00]: I don't feel great, put in driver Lawrence out there.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_00]: I really don't.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_00]: At any point in the previous season, I know it would be nice to get him the reps and some live action and all that stuff, but it still scares me a little bit.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_00]: It absolutely does.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_00]: Anytime Walker Little is a starting tackle, based on what we saw last year and what we've seen so far throughout training camp this year, it's a little worrisome, I don't love it.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_00]: Chumadoga, still down as well.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_00]: I forgot to mention him.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_00]: COVID-19 and it's still down.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_00]: Patrick McCary hasn't really trained at Tackle for the Jack Wars at all, even though he did play some Tackle for the Ravens.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, offensive line very much up and up in the air at this point.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_00]: And I still am very just like not high on the idea of putting Trevor Lawrence out there.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_00]: because you've got some talent on the other side.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what the Panthers plans are yet for the game.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_00]: They haven't started as go out there, whatever, but yeah, it's a little nerve-wracking.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_00]: I would be wanting to wait till Cold Man lands out there, but that might not be until regular season week one.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_00]: It might not be until after that.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_00]: We still don't know for sure.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_00]: Some more injury news.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_00]: Still knows actor Fee.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_00]: Liquid Allen has a soft tissue injury.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_00]: Jaguar's third running back, passed down running back.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_00]: He's gonna be out until the end of camp.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_00]: That's the word from the Jaguar's.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_00]: Jordan Lewis was back out there for individual today.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_00]: And right before practice ended, Albert Regis limped off.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_00]: He reached down towards his foot area and then whipped off very gingerly.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_00]: So that's going to be something to monitor, too.
- 6:42[SPEAKER_00]: Where you just got to sack in his first game of the pre-season.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_00]: And so, yeah, there's just a lot of injury bugs, like the injury bug, for sure.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_00]: It's going on in Jacksonville right now.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_00]: And fortunately, none of it appears to be season ending at this point.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_00]: I think the longest term situation you're looking at is potentially Patrick McCary, which of course you would love to have him for depth.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, with the Jaguar as being three and a half point home favorites over the Panthers this week over at my bookie, it makes me nervous thinking about that offensive line thinking about what could be I'm waiting to kind of look at how things are going to look for this game before I really make a decision there, but you can find all the action you want.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_00]: on my bookie mobile or desktop.

- 8:09[SPEAKER_00]: The defense kicked, but as they have been, the last two days specifically, but I think all of camp overall, if you take like total composite, the Jaguars defense has outplayed the Jaguars offense.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that part of that is there's a lot of really good talent on the Jaguars defense, like top to your talent, especially up front.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_00]: And then I also think Anthony Campony like Scheme is really difficult to deal with.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_00]: And then I also think there's better depth on defense than there is offense, especially again up front.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_00]: I think the Jaguars are going to have to potentially cut players on the defense of line that are definitely rosterable players.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to have backups on the defense of line that have starting talent.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_00]: So.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_00]: I think you look across the board with this defense and it's deeper and just better right now.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_00]: Then the Jaguar's offense and is that a slide on the Jag's offense?
- 9:09[SPEAKER_00]: Don't really know yet, they've got a lot of talent on that side of the ball, great coaching on that side of the ball, but the offense of line appears to be a little bit problematic.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_00]: We'll get into what happened with Trevor Lawrence on the field today, very pedestrian
- 9:27[SPEAKER_00]: I will say this, I just thought that it was interesting to note, Josh Cameron, Ricky Wider-Siever, who I think had a nice first outing against the Saints.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_00]: He was catching passes in individual from Trevor Lawrence, while CJ Williams was catching passes from the backups.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_00]: just kind of an interesting depth note there between those two rookie wider severs at the Jaguar's drafted.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_00]: I wanted to give Michael Worther a shout out number zero diminutive wide receiver had a sick one handed grab today during team and then he also had a couple more short catches so he had a really nice day for himself just wanted to give him some credit there.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_00]: BJ Green out there just kicking some butt multiple pressures
- 10:13[SPEAKER_00]: he had a really good day and he continues to stack really good days, I thought Wesley Williams had a would be sack as well, so Kudos to him, Trayvon Walker, I mean, he's just a stud, but did want to note, practice was scheduled to end at 10.50.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_00]: they ended up at 1030, which I personally thought 1050 was ambitious giving the injury situation and the fact that you're hosting a joint practice tomorrow against the Carolina Panthers.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_00]: So I was actually kind of happy that they ended it early and decided to pack it in and get ready for tomorrow because you want to get as much out of a joint practice as you possibly can.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_00]: and so I didn't think having a long practice the day before a joint practice really made a whole lot of sense.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_00]: But as far as the Jaguar starting offense versus starting defense again, I think the starting defense clearly won the day.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_00]: I think the run game was largely ineffective.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_00]: It's difficult to tell with no pads and all that stuff, but it felt like they were tapping guys at or close to the line of scrimmage for the most part.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_00]: Chris Rodriguez always runs tough,
- 11:25[SPEAKER_00]: You know, don't really get the benefit of seeing the thump in and tackle breaking when you don't have pads on.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_00]: Turtle Lawrence was six of 13 today.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_00]: There's just several plays where, um, you know, started three or five slow down several plays where,
- 11:49[SPEAKER_00]: Defenders were just in good positions to, you know, force and incompletion, whether it be a pass break up, actually getting hands on the football, we're just kind of denying the angle.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_00]: But through the ball to Brian Thomas Jr. a lot, which shouldn't be a big surprise considering Parker Washington is not practicing.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_00]: First two throws to Brian Thomas Jr. work complete, and then you had
- 12:15[SPEAKER_00]: Several incompletions in a row had a pass break up by Jabar Mughamed a couple out there where Jabar Mughamed played a really good play.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_00]: Jabar Lohan's had one where he was rolling left and had to throw it out of the back of the inzone.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_00]: He had one where he put too much on it for a mirror of Dula down the field in the inzone.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_00]: He completed some passes like I mentioned to Brian Thomas Jr., to Jacobi Myers, completed a pass to
- 12:40[SPEAKER_00]: to Austin Tramwell, one to BTJ with Travis Hunter and primary coverage, but you know, you have Trayvon getting a sack, you had Antonio Johnson with a sack and then Trevor Lawrence actually was intercepted as well by Jabar Mu Hammid.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah, Jack's defense, they won the day, they've been bringing it, I'm sure Liam Cohen is not having a fun time seeing that the last couple days, but they'll have their opportunity offensively to kind of try to strike back if you will tomorrow
- 13:10[SPEAKER_00]: They got a lot of town on that defensive front too, so it's not going to be easy sletting for the Jaguars, but that'll do it for this training camp recap, a lot of injuries, a lot of great plays by the defense, offense doing some decent things here and there, but overall the defense seems ahead of the offense, which is a common theme in training camp, but you would start to think the offense would be catching up at this point.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_00]: Again, really appreciate y'all being here.
