- 0:37AI AI. That you've been hearing all about it, you're wondering what is
- 0:43it. I can tell you this much. We're not talking about Alan Iverson,
- 0:49but we're talking about artificial intelligence, in particular as it relates to audio.
- 0:58Now. I'm not going to go through the whole spell. There's enough
- 1:02coverage around from other hip hop programs to tech sites and all kinds of things
- 1:08that can share a little bit more light on what the whole fascination with AI
- 1:14is. But I could sum it up for you. It's a shortcut.
- 1:19It's a hell of a shortcut, and not only as it relates to what
- 1:25I'm going to talk about, which is music, but also as it relates
- 1:27to the production of podcasts. And audio content. Here's an example I could
- 1:36have and maybe I'll do it sometime in the future, but I could have
- 1:41entered in what I wanted to talk about for this podcast into an AI engine
- 1:46of some sort, right, I want to talk about AI and podcasting,
- 1:51and gave it a little couple of parameters, then used another AI software to
- 1:57put my voice in along with whatever the previous AI generated. As far as
- 2:06the text for my podcasts, have it, spit it out and put my
- 2:10intro to it in while I there you go, that was AI, ladies
- 2:16and gentlemen. Okay, no it wasn't all right, I'm lying, but
- 2:19I'm just saying. I'm saying that's what you could do. So you could
- 2:24honestly put together your own podcast today. Not know much about a subject,
- 2:35ask the AI to create a podcast, or even because some people have some
- 2:42students have done this with their papers, but on any subject related to whatever
- 2:47your podcast is, connect your voice via different podcast and you have it.
- 2:54And when I say timesaver, I mean it doesn't take the time it takes.
- 3:00It doesn't take the time it takes to sit here and voice the podcast,
- 3:06right, It doesn't take the time it takes the research production could be
- 3:13cut down if you know how to produce on some level. You still need
- 3:15to know how to produce in some ways or not that much. So as
- 3:22a content creator, you could become a podcaster today using AI, but you
- 3:29can also become a rapper. Now all of the conversation from the music sites
- 3:36to the hip hop sites have been around, uh you know AI versions of
- 3:40jay Z that sound real. I heard Biggie in Tupac rapping two and Words
- 3:47in Paris, right, and it sounds legit. The Biggie really sound legit
- 3:54because he has a very distinctive voice right is deep. He's sounds like he's
- 4:00struggling to breathe sometimes. All of that cadence was there. That's what makes
- 4:04it scary, Right. But yet he's wrapping jay Z's lyrics from the original
- 4:12song same way. It's scary. Right, there's a Drake and the Weekend
- 4:17record, There's there's all kinds of versions. People are just coming up.
- 4:21What I did is right now. I'm not going to talk about the status
- 4:27of that because I think there is a portion of this no one has talked
- 4:31about. Right, The status of that with the major artists is going down
- 4:36a rabbit hole of likeness, copyright and right now, really they can't do
- 4:43anything about it because only a human, I mean aire, artificial intelligence can't
- 4:50infringe upon your your likeness and your image and your voicing the copyright because only
- 4:58a human can for the So it's a free fall at this point, and
- 5:03it's gonna end up bad for someone who choose to monetize. Someone dropped an
- 5:09entire mixtape of Drake like songs featuring Drake's voice. That's crazy, right,
- 5:16I saw other rappers say, but we could get the Biggie album, we
- 5:21always want it. We can continue to get Tupac albums. Man, listen,
- 5:30that is a rabbit hole that gets crazy. And I'll just say this,
- 5:34I don't think any of that's gonna happen unless sanctioned by the estates of
- 5:40those who passed away. I'm just saying it's just not now. I will
- 5:44say this AI. Indeed, it's a whole another story. If you love
- 5:55hip hop, loved it to death, can't DJ, can't break down,
- 6:00can't rap or wish that at some point you could be a rapper, Well
- 6:09you probably can, because what's to stop you from saying put together? You
- 6:18know, a gangster rap song in the style of ice Cube, right,
- 6:24and they do that, right, So it's in the style of ice Cube.
- 6:27No voice yet, it's just written. It's spitted out text wise in
- 6:30the style of ice Cube. And then you go over to the AI voice
- 6:36software, but instead of adding ice Cub's voice, you add your voice and
- 6:44now you have a song. Right now, Obviously you have to give the
- 6:49AI some references of your voice, but who wouldn't do that? How much
- 6:55work is that for you? Right? You could literally say I want to
- 7:00do you know, a whole album kind of like this. With these different
- 7:03styles, the creative window is open for you to do what you want,
- 7:09how you want on these records and begin in What's even crazier. What's even
- 7:16crazier is if you always wanted to be a rapper, right, and you
- 7:21put out this album, even if you don't tell anybody it's AI Generator,
- 7:27right, how would they know you're relatively unknown? It's different when it's Drake.
- 7:31You know, Drake said he didn't make that. You don't have to
- 7:34tell anyone, right, and you could just literally drop this album. It
- 7:43could do whatever is gonna do, right, Obviously he needs some beats,
- 7:46but it could do whatever it's gonna do. Let's just say you blow up
- 7:53and now you memorize these songs because they're you right there. You they're in
- 7:58your voice. You go and perform them. You can be a rap star
- 8:03overnight. Now that's the ceiling. Or you could just have a bunch of
- 8:09indie stuff that's just yours to listen to. Like most people who write their
- 8:11own rats. But it opens up an interesting and scary state of affairs when
- 8:20it comes to rap. No more will it be about ghostwriting. Ghostwriter has
- 8:30gotta be shuted. I gotta be shuted. This their job, right,
- 8:35this is their job. It's gonna get sticky. Imagine me having a ghostwritingfore
- 8:41a song, right and instead of using him again, well, I'll just
- 8:48say, hey, write a song in the style of you know this hit
- 8:54record that he gave me, and I give my producer to put a beat
- 8:58on it. I only him, But does he still get a cut because
- 9:07you're still using his original words? You see what I'm saying. It is
- 9:09a rabbit hole that gets crazy. But speaking specifically to the indie rappers and
- 9:16hip hop in general, well, it's going to cause a huge debate,
- 9:20a huge debate when you think about it, because originality has always been a
- 9:28pillar in hip hop. Now we know ghostwriters have existed since the beginning of
- 9:33the hip hop do not get it to a state bars it has it just
- 9:39has now have ghostwriters dominated the majority of the music we hear? Now we
- 9:46like these artists for a reason. We call some of these artists legends for
- 9:50a reason. They wrote most of the music that made them what they were.
- 9:54You know, somebody like an L Cool J, if he didn't write
- 9:58something a versus two or a song here and there that's coming out today,
- 10:03I'm not as mad as it at it because the man been around forever.
- 10:09There was a time where it was all him. Right, most rappers,
- 10:13especially at this fifty years of hip hop at this standpoint, or dealing with
- 10:18that kind of situation, you know, somebody ghost wrote something if they have
- 10:22it, which I think Kendrick is probably a perfect example. Then it's the
- 10:26reason why he doesn't drop best often as he does. It is because he's
- 10:31a writer. He needs time. But when you got AI, you get
- 10:39easily bypass any of it. How could a hip hop you know his story
- 10:46and you know what do you what do you call the police. It's just
- 10:50calling with the hip hop police. Respect you. If AI wrote all your
- 10:56raps, if you didn't write anything, you just memorize what AI is.
- 11:01Ai is the ghost writer of the future. It just is. But it's
- 11:07more interesting to me to talk about those who don't have record deals, who
- 11:16can't rap, who you know, maybe used to wrap and still want to
- 11:22rap, but I don't really have the time to put in that work.
- 11:26I mean you could literally, I could literally write. Now, just start
- 11:33dumping ideas into a machine, writing the style of this, writing, the
- 11:37style of that, writing, the style of this, until I have maybe
- 11:41a good ten songs. Then put my voice in this other software. And
- 11:48now I got my vocals, and I got hooks, and I got everything
- 11:50else right, the cadence, everything is there, and then I just get
- 11:54the beats beats to go with it. DN It's not that difficult, But
- 12:03is it real? Hip hop? Will we lose something about hip hop as
- 12:09a result of this easy route it? We've already reached the point now where
- 12:16everybody raps, at least it feels that way. But now everybody can rap.
