Marlins’ Surprise Pick Jacob Lombard | Miami Marlins News
The Marlins pulled off a surprise pick, snagging 18-year phenom Jacob Lombard with the 14th overall selection in the 2026 MLB Draft. A baseball family legacy, elite athleticism, and premium shortstop instincts make him a high-upside prospect — though he’ll need to tame his strikeout woes against tougher pitching. Drafted off the board when the Marlins’ turn came, he’s poised to develop into a cornerstone, especially with All-Star shortstop Otto Lopez already in the mix.
