- 0:00Speaker 1: I have a list from the remain seated file.
- 0:03Speaker 2: The seat.
- 0:05Speaker 1: Well, it's just you know, it's the safety first.
- 0:07Speaker 2: It's oh okay, how to survive.
- 0:10Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, it's Radio from Hell with another list because
- 0:15Speaker 3: people love a good list X ninety six.
- 0:19Speaker 1: All right, danger is everywhere?
- 0:22Speaker 2: Yes it is. Uh huh.
- 0:23Speaker 1: That's according to doctors who recently revealed a long list
- 0:25Speaker 1: of common activities that cause serious harm and could earn
- 0:29Speaker 1: you an expensive trip to the emergency room.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Common activities that can cause you the emergency room.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Number one, Huh do you wear crocs?
- 0:41Speaker 2: I have, I have, I do not. I know exactly
- 0:45Speaker 2: what this is going to be because it happened.
- 0:46Speaker 1: They are more than just a fashion faux pas, says
- 0:49Speaker 1: one er doctor, warning people to find better footwear. Emergency
- 0:54Speaker 1: medicine physician at University of Chicago Medicine told The New
- 0:57Speaker 1: York Times that he sees croc specific injuries at least
- 1:01Speaker 1: once a week. The goofy footwear, although comfortable, does not
- 1:05Speaker 1: provide traction nor ankle support. He explained. People go flying
- 1:09Speaker 1: and so do their crocs, and they end up, Yes,
- 1:12Speaker 1: in the emergency room.
- 1:14Speaker 3: My son was wearing crocs and he was with me,
- 1:17Speaker 3: and he was quite young, like seven or eight. He's
- 1:20Speaker 3: wearing a pair of crocs, and we were on an
- 1:22Speaker 3: escalator at the Hya at the gateway no it yeah,
- 1:28Speaker 3: gateway the mall, and he has got caught in the
- 1:33Speaker 3: escalator and bout ripped his toe off.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Crocks are dangerous Petting strangers dogs.
- 1:39Speaker 3: Well, they're named after an animal with big teeth, crocs.
- 1:43Speaker 3: Petting never You never never pet a stranger's dog, particularly
- 1:48Speaker 3: and again now this happened to me, particularly a dog
- 1:51Speaker 3: named Happy, which Happy seems to be a fine dog.
- 1:57Speaker 3: When I didn't know these people very well, and we
- 2:01Speaker 3: were at a lake and Happy had stayed back up
- 2:04Speaker 3: at the cabin on the porch and I had to
- 2:07Speaker 3: go back up to the cabin and get something, and
- 2:09Speaker 3: there was.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Happy on the porch and I thought, oh, hi Happy.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Then they reached down to pet Happy and he bit
- 2:14Speaker 2: me yep hard.
- 2:16Speaker 1: You don't know what kind of trauma the animal has
- 2:18Speaker 1: been put through, or what their triggers are. He wouldn't
- 2:21Speaker 1: dare put his face near anybody else's dog, he said.
- 2:25Speaker 1: I think most dog owners have never seen what it
- 2:27Speaker 1: looks like for a dog to maul somebody. I've seen it. Yeah,
- 2:31Speaker 1: don't do it.
- 2:32Speaker 3: The owners said, oh, we should have put the muzzle
- 2:36Speaker 3: on him. We have a muzzle and we should have
- 2:39Speaker 3: put that on him. I'm sorry. Thanks.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Another habit is the way people slice avocados.
- 2:45Speaker 2: Oh.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Oh, Often people will hold the fruit in the palm
- 2:48Speaker 1: of their hand while they slice. And sometimes when you're
- 2:52Speaker 1: cutting an avocado, the it's not as dense as you
- 2:57Speaker 1: think it's going to be and you will slice right through. Oh.
- 3:00Speaker 1: They say, cooking related knife injuries are the most common.
- 3:03Speaker 1: And sometimes I'll even say you were cutting an avocado
- 3:05Speaker 1: and they'll say, how did you know that?
- 3:09Speaker 3: Last time I had injury stitches was because I was
- 3:14Speaker 3: opening a can and I can of Tomatilla's and I
- 3:18Speaker 3: cut my fingers on the lid. You know how it's
- 3:23Speaker 3: the sharp edge of the lid.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Three of them trampolines. This is it? Oh well, he says,
- 3:29Speaker 1: they're a broken bone, factory fractures, dislocation, spinal injuries, head injuries.
- 3:34Speaker 1: All of the time. More than one hundred thousand people
- 3:36Speaker 1: in in the er with tramplin related injuries every year.
- 3:40Speaker 2: They've tried to they've tried to make them safer.
- 3:42Speaker 3: Sometimes, like sometimes people will put them in the ground
- 3:45Speaker 3: so that they're on the ground level. Still that doesn't know.
- 3:49Speaker 3: And then sometimes you have seen them when they put
- 3:51Speaker 3: fences around them. Oh kind of thing. That's still you're
- 3:55Speaker 3: gonna you're gonna get hurt biking.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Yeah, only if you were a helmet, they say, We
- 4:01Speaker 1: see tons of people, and you do not have to
- 4:04Speaker 1: be going fast to fall and hit your head and
- 4:08Speaker 1: do serious damage exactly when you're biking. Uh. And lastly,
- 4:13Speaker 1: this doctor says, don't ignore sudden onset symptoms, like all
- 4:18Speaker 1: of a sudden you have a really sharp, out of
- 4:22Speaker 1: nowhere pain.
- 4:23Speaker 2: So yeah, like that one, go to.
- 4:25Speaker 1: The emergency room. Just now, Carrie, what is it? Just now?
- 4:28Speaker 3: What does this say that every single one of these
- 4:31Speaker 3: things has happened to me?
- 4:33Speaker 2: I'm not kidding you. Every single one.
- 4:37Speaker 1: You've been for biking, you fell and hit your heads.
- 4:39Speaker 2: I have fallen meant several times.
- 4:43Speaker 3: Now. I have worn a helmet most of the time,
- 4:47Speaker 3: and but and it did save me. But I've hurt
- 4:50Speaker 3: myself in other ways in bike accidents.
- 4:54Speaker 1: And see, this is why I said, this comes from
- 4:56Speaker 1: the remain seated file. I have not had any of
- 5:00Speaker 1: these problems.
- 5:00Speaker 2: That's because you do don't do anything.
- 5:02Speaker 1: Including cook I don't. I'm never gonna have a cooking accent.
- 5:06Speaker 3: No, it's because you know, you just don't do anything. Really, wait,
- 5:12Speaker 3: can I ask them? Can I ask this plunk question?
- 5:14Speaker 2: What good are you?
- 5:17Speaker 1: I mean, I am delightful?
- 5:20Speaker 2: Is that what it is?
- 5:21Speaker 3: You're You're You're, You're a wonderful accessory to somebody else.
- 5:25Speaker 2: What good are you?
- 5:26Speaker 1: You don't have any cuts on your hands or stitches
- 5:29Speaker 1: in your head? What good are you?
- 5:32Speaker 2: You've never had an adventure in your life? No, no,
- 5:36Speaker 2: no adventures, not.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Had to go to the emergency room either.
- 5:40Speaker 2: I have home, man, I don't know.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Don't laments their adventures.
- 5:45Speaker 3: No, I mean, it's not fun while it's happening, but
- 5:49Speaker 3: it's you can look back on it, and that makes
- 5:51Speaker 3: for great stories.
- 5:52Speaker 1: I mean, ask Katie, she'll never climb a tree again,
- 5:54Speaker 1: will you know?
- 5:55Speaker 2: Or cut a lime?
- 5:56Speaker 1: No?
- 5:58Speaker 3: The Yeah, the avocado. So I often think of that
- 6:01Speaker 3: because the way the best way to get the pit
- 6:03Speaker 3: out of the avocado is to hold it in the
- 6:05Speaker 3: palm of your hand. Yeah, carry does it too, and
- 6:07Speaker 3: then strike it, strike the pit with a sharp knife.
- 6:10Speaker 1: I think an er doc would say, don't you would that.
- 6:13Speaker 3: Yeah, I guess you could put it on the on
- 6:16Speaker 3: the cutting on the cutting board and do it, I suppose.
- 6:19Speaker 1: All right, So you live on the edge too, Jackson
- 6:22Speaker 1: You avocado?
- 6:23Speaker 2: Yeah, boy, we have it on the edge, living on
- 6:26Speaker 2: the edge. They should write a song about making clackamoli.
