- 0:50Speaker 1: I'm doing good, buddy, just living a life. How about you?
- 0:54Speaker 1: How are you? I am also living that life. Yeah?
- 0:59Speaker 1: You had a fun last night? Right? I did? Yeah?
- 1:01Speaker 1: I went to the Teddy Swim Show. I'm currently wearing
- 1:05Speaker 1: the new tour shirt. Just fun, love that beautiful.
- 1:11Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:11Speaker 1: I got some last minute ticks, big, big thanks to
- 1:15Speaker 1: Luke Pierce because he's awesome killing it, hooking it up.
- 1:18Speaker 1: And it was fun because our buddy Laz was there.
- 1:22Speaker 1: I got to hang out with him, and I brought
- 1:25Speaker 1: my sister along. She was very excited about it. Oh
- 1:28Speaker 1: that's good. Normally that's something I would bring Kelsey to,
- 1:32Speaker 1: but she was driving back from the cabin cabin style. Sure,
- 1:38Speaker 1: for sure. It's the first fourth of July that I've
- 1:41Speaker 1: had to miss with the fam. Yeah, because I had
- 1:45Speaker 1: a gig in Medora on the fifth and so it
- 1:48Speaker 1: just didn't make sense to get up to the cabin
- 1:50Speaker 1: back down to the bus and all that. So yeah,
- 1:53Speaker 1: it was weird, man, Yeah, I bet which is it's
- 1:56Speaker 1: funny that that's the only one you you know what
- 1:59Speaker 1: I mean. It's lucked out. We've let out big time.
- 2:02Speaker 1: I've never thought about that, but that's pretty wild. But yeah,
- 2:06Speaker 1: that's usually a pretty pretty busy time for most groups.
- 2:09Speaker 1: But yeah, we haven't. We just haven't had many gigs
- 2:12Speaker 1: over that fourth. But dude, Medora was cool. I'm very
- 2:16Speaker 1: pretty to Medora proper. Really, we've driven through it a lot.
- 2:21Speaker 1: But yeah, yep, yeah, it was cool. Cool man. Well
- 2:24Speaker 1: that's a pretty part of the country. That's great.
- 2:27Speaker 6: And the concert was good, I guess it was good.
- 2:30Speaker 6: And Teddy Swims, I mean.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Yeah, Teddy Swims was great. Dude. That guy just sings
- 2:35Speaker 1: his ass off the same time. He's insane. He just
- 2:39Speaker 1: doesn't ever let up, and I'm like, dude, how how
- 2:42Speaker 1: do you still sound like this? But that's pretty Apparently
- 2:44Speaker 1: this was the first show of a run. Okay, so
- 2:49Speaker 1: that's nice. So he's so we had him. Yeah, yeah,
- 2:54Speaker 1: but it was great, dude, that's awesome. Man. Yeah. Have
- 2:58Speaker 1: you been watching any movie recently? I have.
- 3:01Speaker 6: I went to the theater. God, was it last week?
- 3:04Speaker 6: Two weeks ago? It doesn't matter.
- 3:05Speaker 1: I saw F one. That's what I'm going to talk about.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Stop it.
- 3:11Speaker 6: I also went to that I had seen it yet,
- 3:14Speaker 6: I couldn't remember if we talked about it or not.
- 3:16Speaker 1: We hadn't talked about it. I was going to surprise
- 3:18Speaker 1: you with it, lovely. Well, this will be so much fun.
- 3:21Speaker 1: I love this is the It's a racing movie. It's
- 3:25Speaker 1: about Formula one. That's why it's called F one. It
- 3:30Speaker 1: features Brad Pitt. I don't know if you guys have
- 3:33Speaker 1: ever heard of him. Bradley, Yes, Bradley Bradley, and then
- 3:37Speaker 1: Damnson Idris is the other kind of lead. Well, I
- 3:40Speaker 1: guess Javier Birthdamn is the other lead. I guess probably.
- 3:44Speaker 1: But I really like this movie.
- 3:46Speaker 6: I thought it was pretty fun, very exciting, super cool, shots.
- 3:52Speaker 6: It was the same director who did was it Maverick.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Maverick with all the crazy like Cainski. Yes, Yes, and
- 4:06Speaker 1: that really came through like it was you felt like
- 4:09Speaker 1: you were in there, which was cool. And apparently Brad
- 4:12Speaker 1: Pitt actually did a bunch of the driving and stuff
- 4:15Speaker 1: like that and pretty nuts man. But I thought it
- 4:20Speaker 1: was fun.
- 4:20Speaker 6: I will the thing I keep saying is and this
- 4:23Speaker 6: isn't a knock on this movie. I thought it was
- 4:25Speaker 6: super fun and really exciting. I was hoping for a
- 4:28Speaker 6: little bit more Ford versus Ferrari than Grand Turismo. It's
- 4:34Speaker 6: a little more Grand Tarismo, which I actually also enjoyed.
- 4:37Speaker 6: I just was like, I don't really care about racing.
- 4:39Speaker 6: I'm more here for the drama and stuff, so I
- 4:43Speaker 6: would have personally liked a little bit more of that stuff.
- 4:46Speaker 1: But it was really good.
- 4:47Speaker 6: Some cheesy lines, for sure, But if you like a
- 4:50Speaker 6: sports movie, you're gonna.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Enjoy this movie. That's kind of how I felt about it.
- 4:53Speaker 1: What did you think? How did you feel about almost
- 4:56Speaker 1: the exact same take? Nice? Yeah, to see it on
- 5:01Speaker 1: an Imax screen, this was when, uh so, yeah, Kelsey,
- 5:05Speaker 1: the kids were gone and I was like, I just
- 5:08Speaker 1: need to get out of this house. It's so weird,
- 5:09Speaker 1: like not even Penny was there, Like it's quiet, and
- 5:12Speaker 1: I don't like it. I am gonna go to a movie,
- 5:16Speaker 1: but yeah, I went and said an Imax highly recommend
- 5:19Speaker 1: watching it on an Imax screen. But yeah, dude, like
- 5:24Speaker 1: you said, the racing shots are incredible. I'm also not
- 5:27Speaker 1: super into racing movies, but it was still super impressive
- 5:32Speaker 1: and I felt like it was it was top Gun
- 5:34Speaker 1: Maverick for racing, and the plot has kind of been
- 5:39Speaker 1: done before, but the acting was so great from Brad
- 5:44Speaker 1: Pitt and Carrie Condon and that that didn't bug me
- 5:48Speaker 1: too much. Yeah, Brad Pitt's incredible. I heard his armchair
- 5:54Speaker 1: expert in interviews, which which was where I heard that
- 5:58Speaker 1: he was so into all this, which I didn't know
- 6:00Speaker 1: I guess before. That's dude, I didn't. I don't know
- 6:03Speaker 1: that I've ever heard Brad Pitt in an interview. Yes,
- 6:06Speaker 1: so that was fun during which actually that if you
- 6:09Speaker 1: like Brad Pitt, you would probably enjoy that interview. It's
- 6:12Speaker 1: really cool because they talk about sobriety, they talk about
- 6:15Speaker 1: like their love of racing and stuff. Those two are
- 6:17Speaker 1: like they went on and on about the racing, so
- 6:20Speaker 1: you could, Yeah, you could definitely tell that he really
- 6:24Speaker 1: wanted to do this film. He'd been trying to get
- 6:26Speaker 1: it made for a long time. He's clearly very in
- 6:29Speaker 1: his element. It's like Tom gets to do all this crazy,
- 6:33Speaker 1: why don't I get to do something? Yeah, I want
- 6:34Speaker 1: to do this. Yeah. But and it sounds like they
- 6:38Speaker 1: really were racing at like almost two hundred miles, Like
- 6:41Speaker 1: it's just crazy. Yeah. I thought it was really well done.
- 6:45Speaker 1: It's worth checking it out if you are going to
- 6:47Speaker 1: see it, I would recommend seeing out an IMAX because
- 6:49Speaker 1: it was it was nuts.
- 6:51Speaker 6: There's a couple of lines that are very cheesy in it,
- 6:54Speaker 6: which actually I liked.
- 6:55Speaker 1: But there's the one where they were like, we don't
- 6:58Speaker 1: have the car and then how them is like we
- 7:01Speaker 1: have the driver, like his face is nice, yeah, man,
- 7:08Speaker 1: And one other take I had on it was just
- 7:10Speaker 1: I feel like it's probably a good thing that I
- 7:13Speaker 1: don't know much about F one racing because I feel
- 7:17Speaker 1: like they dumbed it down hard for us, and I yeah,
- 7:21Speaker 1: I wouldn't be surprised if real big fans of the
- 7:25Speaker 1: sport are like, dude, they would never do.
- 7:28Speaker 6: So the in the group chat with Chance and all
- 7:32Speaker 6: them Neil and Ryan, Sammy's brother. They're big f one fans,
- 7:37Speaker 6: and they were talking about that. They were like little implausible,
- 7:41Speaker 6: a few things and whatever, you like.
- 7:43Speaker 1: I don't know anything about it. I was like, I'm
- 7:45Speaker 1: not even a fan of the sport, but it felt
- 7:47Speaker 1: like this stuff was way far fetched. So I think
- 7:50Speaker 1: you're right on that.
- 7:50Speaker 6: All that to say, I think you're absolutely right b point,
- 7:54Speaker 6: But I don't know anything about it, so I have
- 7:56Speaker 6: no idea.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Yeah, but it's a fun watch.
- 7:59Speaker 6: Yeah, super cool and really well done. I mean it's beautiful,
- 8:03Speaker 6: so yeah, very cool. Have you even streaming anything fun?
- 8:06Speaker 1: Yeah? So I streamed on I think it was Prime. Yeah, yeah,
- 8:12Speaker 1: I even looked it up Prime. A movie called deep
- 8:15Speaker 1: Cover that's a lot of shoot your mouth. I wasn't
- 8:20Speaker 1: going to talk about it right now, but let's talk
- 8:22Speaker 1: about it because I kind of loved it. I did too,
- 8:25Speaker 1: I really enjoyed it.
- 8:26Speaker 6: It's about three improv actors who are asked to go
- 8:29Speaker 6: This is the little snippet. Three improv actors are asked
- 8:32Speaker 6: to go undercover by the police in London's criminal underworld,
- 8:36Speaker 6: and it's like this, this girl who's struggling to be
- 8:39Speaker 6: an actor. She's teaching these classes. It's a couple of students,
- 8:43Speaker 6: and you know they're of varying degrees, but it's Bryce
- 8:47Speaker 6: Dallas Howard, Orlando Bloom and I forget Nick Muhammad, that's
- 8:51Speaker 6: his name.
- 8:52Speaker 1: Yeah, he is from ted Lasso, Yes exactly.
- 8:56Speaker 6: And this was a really funny comedy film. Has some action,
- 9:02Speaker 6: you know, portions to it, but mostly it's just a
- 9:05Speaker 6: silly comedy film. And I really had a good time
- 9:07Speaker 6: with that. I thought it was a fun premise I'd
- 9:10Speaker 6: never heard of before, you know, a new take on.
- 9:12Speaker 1: It or whatever.
- 9:13Speaker 6: And I thought they were really funny together. Like I
- 9:16Speaker 6: liked their chemistry. I thought all of it was was
- 9:19Speaker 6: pretty awesome.
- 9:19Speaker 1: To be honest, I really had a good time. I
- 9:22Speaker 1: was so impressed with Orlando Bloom, Like he was so
- 9:24Speaker 1: funny and he was wonderful. I was like, where have
- 9:27Speaker 1: you been, Orlando? I have not seen like funny Orlando Bloom.
- 9:32Speaker 1: I mean it would be tough because he's just so
- 9:34Speaker 1: good looking out like he just always has to do
- 9:37Speaker 1: that kind of stuff.
- 9:38Speaker 6: We know how it is you get titled with those
- 9:40Speaker 6: beautiful eyes.
- 9:41Speaker 1: And I know all this beauty it's it's hard. It's hard,
- 9:44Speaker 1: it is tough. It's tough to think of a different
- 9:46Speaker 1: adjective other than beauty. That's how far away from this
- 9:50Speaker 1: I am. I don't know, being hot, it's hard being hot.
- 9:55Speaker 1: So hot. Yeah, but I really liked this movie a lot.
- 9:58Speaker 1: I thought it was really really fun, had a good time. Yeah.
- 10:02Speaker 1: And Bryce Dallis Howard. I mean, I've never really thought
- 10:04Speaker 1: of her as very funny, and she didn't have to
- 10:06Speaker 1: do like a ton of like real funny, but she
- 10:10Speaker 1: was great. She was of my favorite things. Yeah, I
- 10:13Speaker 1: liked her. I thought she was good seeing her do. Yeah,
- 10:15Speaker 1: I was into it. What have you been streaming? I
- 10:18Speaker 1: watched the new Netflix series with Steve Carell, Tina Fey,
- 10:23Speaker 1: Will Forte, Coleman Domingo, and more called The Four Seasons.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Oh okay, Yeah, And it's apparently based on an older
- 10:36Speaker 1: film featuring Alan Alda. But yeah. It's basically these three
- 10:41Speaker 1: different couples that vacation together a lot, and it focuses
- 10:45Speaker 1: on each of their pretty dysfunctional marriages. It's very funny
- 10:52Speaker 1: at times, it's dramatic at times. There's some tragedy involved.
- 10:58Speaker 1: It's all over the place and yeah, it's like eight
- 11:02Speaker 1: episodes there about a half hour. I flew through it
- 11:06Speaker 1: while I had some travel traveling issues where I was,
- 11:12Speaker 1: but dude, I rocked it out really fast, but I did.
- 11:18Speaker 1: I did. I was glad I downloaded the whole series.
- 11:22Speaker 1: But yeah, I heard they've confirmed another season will come out.
- 11:27Speaker 1: Super entertaining show and Will Forte might be my favorite
- 11:31Speaker 1: part of the show. And yeah, I just thought he
- 11:34Speaker 1: was really great in this. He got to kind of
- 11:36Speaker 1: showcase other sides of him that I haven't really seen.
- 11:39Speaker 1: I really like him.
- 11:41Speaker 6: I think he's very talented and he's so so funny
- 11:45Speaker 6: but be very heartfelt too. I feel like, you know, yeah,
- 11:48Speaker 6: he got to show more of that cool.
- 11:52Speaker 1: So yeah, I enjoyed it. Yeah, yeah, I haven't seen
- 11:56Speaker 1: that one. Nice, very fun. What's the thing we do? Oh? Plug, sir?
- 12:01Speaker 1: Should we do some plugs? Yeah? Plugs, you guess can possess.
- 12:04Speaker 1: That's always over on the Twitter machine where we're at
- 12:06Speaker 1: Avid Endorsement with a Z or we go to Facebook,
- 12:10Speaker 1: dot Com, Instagram, TikTok, Blue Sky at the Abbot Endorsement
- 12:14Speaker 1: and all those spots as well. But if you really
- 12:18Speaker 1: want to hang out and be part of the crew
- 12:19Speaker 1: spot to go in is Pletetree and dot com Slash,
- 12:23Speaker 1: the Avid Indoorsman. No, it's a great time on Patreon.
- 12:26Speaker 1: We love our patrons. We give them lots of perks,
- 12:28Speaker 1: and one of those is getting a shout out right here.
- 12:31Speaker 1: So I'd like to say hello to Marsha Grisiac, Mary Fox,
- 12:35Speaker 1: Nanette Walkley, Yohambrosted deb Olk, Noel Flores, and that's it.
- 12:43Speaker 1: Another perk that we like to give our patrons is
- 12:47Speaker 1: an extended version of every episode, we'll usually do a
- 12:51Speaker 1: top five draft that will pertain to the movie that
- 12:55Speaker 1: we're discussing, and our guest today came up with today's
- 13:00Speaker 1: top five draft idea top five blades in movies, so
- 13:05Speaker 1: like swords other sharp objects in movies. That was a
- 13:10Speaker 1: fun idea. I liked it me too. I liked it
- 13:12Speaker 1: because we've done like weapons before and but we haven't,
- 13:16Speaker 1: like just focused on blades. I think it'll be fun,
- 13:20Speaker 1: it'll be fun to check out for show. Yeah, it'll
- 13:23Speaker 1: be great.
- 13:24Speaker 6: I don't remember what's next, so let's all just agree
- 13:26Speaker 6: it's gonna be great.
- 13:28Speaker 1: It's gonna be great.
- 13:28Speaker 6: It'na be tons of fun check it out. But yeah,
- 13:31Speaker 6: we're here today to talk about the movie X Men,
- 13:35Speaker 6: celebrating twenty fifth anniversary.
- 13:38Speaker 1: Robbed twenty five years, crazy crazy, and we had to
- 13:42Speaker 1: get a Marvel fan to the Zenith and a guy
- 13:45Speaker 1: we haven't had on in a while. Again, it's been
- 13:47Speaker 1: a minute. I'm so excited to chat with him. Let's
- 13:50Speaker 1: give it up for j Michael Troutley. What's up, j Mac?
- 13:54Speaker 5: What a time my dammies.
- 13:56Speaker 1: You do. But it's been a long time.
- 13:58Speaker 5: Yeah, it's been a man.
- 14:00Speaker 3: And it's so good to be back on the show
- 14:02Speaker 3: with you guys. It's good to see.
- 14:03Speaker 1: We love Remember we're trying to remember which one it
- 14:07Speaker 1: was last, and the last thing I could think of
- 14:09Speaker 1: was top Gun Maverick, Top Gun Maverick. That was a minute,
- 14:13Speaker 1: a minute, couple years years ago, three years. That's dumb.
- 14:17Speaker 1: We gotta make that sorry anymore. I'd like to assure
- 14:21Speaker 1: you that it's not you, it's us. Yeah, it's great
- 14:27Speaker 1: to have you back, though, buddy, Great to be back.
- 14:29Speaker 1: How you been, how's life?
- 14:31Speaker 5: I've been good. I'm I'm a fiance.
- 14:34Speaker 1: You are you are fianced? I love it?
- 14:37Speaker 5: Yes, I am, in fact exciting, In fact, I'm on
- 14:40Speaker 5: her zoom right now. So I love it if her name.
- 14:43Speaker 3: Pops up heard there, there she is?
- 14:45Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah, finally uh ty in the not that
- 14:50Speaker 5: I never thought would be tied.
- 14:52Speaker 1: That's exciting. Man. Congratulations, that's a fellow actor as well.
- 14:57Speaker 5: Right, yes, yes, she is a lot more so sccessful
- 15:00Speaker 5: than I am.
- 15:00Speaker 3: And that's always good as good.
- 15:03Speaker 1: We call that marrying up my friend. It's a good choice.
- 15:07Speaker 1: I mean, big, that's great, that's great. Uh what were
- 15:16Speaker 1: we I'm sorry, I already I was just having fun.
- 15:20Speaker 1: Were we plugging anything for you? I forget now.
- 15:23Speaker 5: Yeah, I've got a I've got a series or an
- 15:26Speaker 5: independent coming up. I'm not sure exactly which it's going
- 15:30Speaker 5: to be, but it's going to be shot episodic, and
- 15:33Speaker 5: I don't think we have a title yet, but it's
- 15:37Speaker 5: going to be about futuristic digital viruses and actually getting
- 15:41Speaker 5: sick off the virus. So I know we're talking about
- 15:46Speaker 5: X Men today, but in the accident and the cartoon,
- 15:49Speaker 5: when Cable goes through and there's that there's that like
- 15:51Speaker 5: virus that's like taking over him, that's what it reminds
- 15:54Speaker 5: me that.
- 15:54Speaker 1: Yeah, that's cool, that's really cool. Yeah, I love it, man,
- 15:57Speaker 1: that's great. I love that. And then your fiances it
- 16:00Speaker 1: out too right.
- 16:02Speaker 5: That Yeah, she just she's she's working now in Atlanta
- 16:05Speaker 5: on a show called Free Bert with Bert Kreshner. Yeah already.
- 16:15Speaker 5: But yeah, so he's got a new show coming out
- 16:16Speaker 5: on Netflix hopefully, I'm assuming probably October November because they're
- 16:21Speaker 5: shooting it quick. That's awesome, Yeah, in Atlanta. And it's
- 16:25Speaker 5: funny the audition scene that we did, you know, I
- 16:28Speaker 5: did the self tape ho her and read with her,
- 16:30Speaker 5: and it was it was funny. It was you know,
- 16:33Speaker 5: a lot of these, a lot of the auditions that
- 16:35Speaker 5: I've gotten ever since the strike are very very.
- 16:40Speaker 3: Just chummy.
- 16:40Speaker 5: You know, it's so much cheeseball going on. But this
- 16:44Speaker 5: definitely felt like, you know, this is this is some
- 16:46Speaker 5: funny stuff. They're putting some some real, some real writing,
- 16:49Speaker 5: some real jokes in here.
- 16:51Speaker 3: So I'm excited for it, definitely.
- 16:53Speaker 1: I'm excited for it too. I'm gonna definitely watch that.
- 16:56Speaker 1: That dude is all over the place. That's sure it's
- 16:59Speaker 1: going to blow up.
- 17:00Speaker 6: That's a good rising star to hit your wagon too,
- 17:02Speaker 6: for sure. Like that's amazing, that's amazing. That's gonna be
- 17:06Speaker 6: free birt, so check that out and you'll have to
- 17:09Speaker 6: let us know when it does premiere.
- 17:11Speaker 1: For sure, make sure to throw it out to people.
- 17:13Speaker 1: That's spot for sure.
- 17:14Speaker 5: Yeah, sure stuff, I will hype it up.
- 17:17Speaker 3: I will for sure hype it up.
- 17:18Speaker 1: Yeah hell yeah, oh yeah, And we'll have you on
- 17:21Speaker 1: before three years. I promise, promise, make sure this time.
- 17:26Speaker 6: But this is a good one for you to come
- 17:28Speaker 6: back on because I know you're a Marvel guy and
- 17:31Speaker 6: we're here to talk the twenty fifth anniversary of X
- 17:33Speaker 6: Men twenty five years dude, which I mean the bird
- 17:38Speaker 6: feel older every time we talk about what.
- 17:41Speaker 1: Movies are now.
- 17:43Speaker 5: Five years on TMNT, I'm seeing dude.
- 17:47Speaker 1: Dude and back to the Future, and then we're going
- 17:50Speaker 1: to a theater to see you're.
- 17:52Speaker 5: Bringing it back. Look, when I found out about it,
- 17:55Speaker 5: I went, I went on to get the tickets and
- 17:57Speaker 5: like all the seats were taken. I could only get
- 17:59Speaker 5: a single ticket, and I.
- 18:01Speaker 1: Just saw a thing. When when is that coming out?
- 18:03Speaker 3: Is that in a couple of weeks August?
- 18:05Speaker 6: Okay, I really got to get on that because that
- 18:08Speaker 6: needs to happen in the parking lot or something.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Know who I am throw one of those I don't
- 18:16Speaker 1: think you understand. Hell yeah, hell yeah. I can't wait
- 18:23Speaker 1: to see that. But this is a great movie and
- 18:25Speaker 1: I really just want to get into it. What do
- 18:27Speaker 1: you guys? Thinks we going to start with the rough synopsis?
- 18:30Speaker 1: All right? I did read a little bit of this
- 18:33Speaker 1: and it's out there, So here we go. They are
- 18:37Speaker 1: children of the Adam Homo superior, the next link in
- 18:42Speaker 1: the chain of evolution. Each was born with a unique
- 18:45Speaker 1: genetic mutation, which, at puberty manifested itself in extraordinary powers.
- 18:51Speaker 1: In a world filled with hate and prejudice, they are
- 18:53Speaker 1: feared by those who cannot accept their differences. Led by Xavier,
- 18:58Speaker 1: the X Men fight to protect a world that fears them.
- 19:02Speaker 1: They are locked in a battle with former colleague and
- 19:05Speaker 1: friend Magneto, who believes humans and mutants should never coexist. Nice, nice,
- 19:14Speaker 1: good read. Thanks, that's intense.
- 19:16Speaker 5: I like he earned the title of professor though they
- 19:19Speaker 5: should really have that.
- 19:21Speaker 1: That's true. That's true. Dude's a man who's given his
- 19:24Speaker 1: life to education. Come on, damn, it's a good note.
- 19:28Speaker 1: That's fair.
- 19:29Speaker 6: Let's go to rotten to bottles in here. What they
- 19:30Speaker 6: have to say. Critics have this coming in a pretty
- 19:32Speaker 6: solid eighty two percent. Okay, it's pretty good.
- 19:35Speaker 1: Yeah, that's killer, and.
- 19:36Speaker 6: Audience members are pretty much right there with them, just
- 19:38Speaker 6: at eighty three percent.
- 19:39Speaker 1: So I was kind of surprised. I thought maybe critics
- 19:42Speaker 1: wouldn't like this one as much, but it was good
- 19:45Speaker 1: to know they have some taste.
- 19:47Speaker 5: So there was rotten tomatoes? Was that a thing in
- 19:50Speaker 5: two thousand?
- 19:51Speaker 1: Not in two thousands? This is a post? Yeah, okay, okay,
- 19:54Speaker 1: that's and that's a good one because it's.
- 19:57Speaker 5: A pretty good score for posts. Because right after watching this,
- 20:00Speaker 5: I was like, man, we've really graduated into better filmmaking.
- 20:03Speaker 6: Yeah, I can understand that, for sure.
- 20:08Speaker 1: We'll get into that. I feel like, but.
- 20:11Speaker 6: Yeah, should we go right in and talk about what
- 20:13Speaker 6: we think? Time for our hot take?
- 20:15Speaker 1: Hot take? Spicy, that's a hot take. That's a hot take.
- 20:22Speaker 1: The one I had flame powers, He's cool, totally a
- 20:25Speaker 1: fight ball with the flame Piro ye Piro. I liked
- 20:29Speaker 1: Pyro a lot different actor. I didn't remember that.
- 20:31Speaker 5: Yeah, there was a lot of different actors.
- 20:33Speaker 1: It was interesting. Yeah, strange. I can go first on this.
- 20:37Speaker 1: I love this movie a ton, warts and all, because
- 20:42Speaker 1: you're right, j Mac, it's not perfect by any means.
- 20:46Speaker 6: But man, I remember just loving this movie and I
- 20:48Speaker 6: really had a good time on the rewatch.
- 20:50Speaker 1: I felt like it had been a while again since
- 20:52Speaker 1: I rewatched these, since the new thing all came out.
- 20:57Speaker 5: Right, and how many X Men films since, yes.
- 21:01Speaker 6: So many and I watched them all. But yeah, it
- 21:03Speaker 6: was it was really fun to go back to this.
- 21:05Speaker 6: I was super surprised it was only an hour forty
- 21:09Speaker 6: five minutes or forty four or whatever it was.
- 21:11Speaker 1: I was like it was refreshing as well, exactly.
- 21:15Speaker 5: It along for sure.
- 21:16Speaker 6: Yeah, because I was kind of you know, these movies
- 21:19Speaker 6: that you haven't seen in a while. It's like, I
- 21:20Speaker 6: wonder what, you know, what like little beats I'm forgetting
- 21:23Speaker 6: And I was like.
- 21:23Speaker 1: Oh, it's an hour forty four.
- 21:24Speaker 6: I don't I'm probably not forgetting very many, right, you know,
- 21:27Speaker 6: like this is we're pretty much just going straight through.
- 21:31Speaker 6: I just I really love the X Men a ton
- 21:34Speaker 6: and I always have. You know that this story really
- 21:37Speaker 6: came right from people that were feeling disadvantaged and people
- 21:41Speaker 6: that were from minority communities and stuff, and that is
- 21:44Speaker 6: for better or worse than the United States, and it
- 21:46Speaker 6: will be an evergreen topic for US forever it seems.
- 21:50Speaker 1: Yeah, that hit hard.
- 21:52Speaker 6: It really did, but it is it is so great
- 21:55Speaker 6: from a drama standpoint. I mean I hate to, like,
- 21:58Speaker 6: you know, say it in that way, but it is
- 22:01Speaker 6: for peer entertainment, It's really great and it does hit
- 22:03Speaker 6: home in a lot of ways.
- 22:05Speaker 1: I love this movie.
- 22:07Speaker 6: My favorite part I think about this movie is sort
- 22:10Speaker 6: of the existential argument between two people that really respect
- 22:15Speaker 6: and love each other but also disagree very vehemently, between
- 22:19Speaker 6: Professor Xavier and Magneto. Obviously, and they have this really
- 22:23Speaker 6: rich history between them. But anytime you can get a
- 22:26Speaker 6: villain where you're like, I mean, I kind of see
- 22:29Speaker 6: his point, you know, it's really great. And obviously they
- 22:33Speaker 6: got to some tremendous actors to fill both of those roles.
- 22:37Speaker 6: But sure on this rewatch. And I'm not a I'm
- 22:41Speaker 6: like dabbling comics, so I don't know the depth of
- 22:45Speaker 6: the history between them, but on this one it really
- 22:48Speaker 6: hit me. Obviously there are two white guys, but it
- 22:51Speaker 6: really hit me the similarities between like Malcolm x and
- 22:54Speaker 6: Martin Luther King Junior, between the two of them of
- 22:57Speaker 6: like wanting to work within the system and then the
- 22:59Speaker 6: other one being a little bit more you know, militant
- 23:02Speaker 6: and wanting to protect.
- 23:03Speaker 1: Their own people and you know, all that strength. But
- 23:07Speaker 1: they both respect each other obviously a ton, and you know,
- 23:10Speaker 1: ultimately want similar things. Anyway, all that to say, I
- 23:15Speaker 1: love this movie. I love the X Men in general.
- 23:18Speaker 1: There's some great acting in this. There's some awful acting
- 23:22Speaker 1: in this as well. Really it looks.
- 23:26Speaker 3: From some great actors.
- 23:28Speaker 1: Yes, it's just so wild.
- 23:31Speaker 6: The CGI stuff doesn't look it definitely looks twenty five
- 23:35Speaker 6: years old some of it.
- 23:36Speaker 1: But not terrible five years old. The jet look legit,
- 23:43Speaker 1: jet looks legit.
- 23:44Speaker 6: Steak looks awesome, awesome, Yeah, I guess a bunch of
- 23:47Speaker 6: that's probably practical. But even like that jumping spin where
- 23:51Speaker 6: she like is changing as.
- 23:52Speaker 5: She's fighting, scales like come together totally.
- 23:56Speaker 1: Yeah, really neat. I love all that stuff. I just
- 23:58Speaker 1: love this movie. These characters in a in a ton
- 24:01Speaker 1: of fun ways. And uh, I think my hottest Steak
- 24:06Speaker 1: is during that mystique fight. Should she be able to
- 24:09Speaker 1: have his clause? I mean I guess that. I get
- 24:11Speaker 1: that she could have them, you know, show physically, but
- 24:16Speaker 1: she felt I felt like she had the powers, And
- 24:18Speaker 1: I don't think that's really part of her thing and
- 24:20Speaker 1: that felt weird to me.
- 24:22Speaker 5: Cut.
- 24:23Speaker 6: That is true, we do see cut, But is she
- 24:29Speaker 6: she's also cutting through stuff with them?
- 24:33Speaker 5: Well yeah, maybe what she's what she's turning it into
- 24:36Speaker 5: is like a regular knife and then he's got superior.
- 24:40Speaker 1: This is nitpicky, nerdy stuff. But I just was like,
- 24:42Speaker 1: what's going on here? Is the breadth of her power
- 24:47Speaker 1: to Yeah, but yeah, that's basically my hottest steak is.
- 24:52Speaker 1: I love this movie and it's hot. Take bro, I
- 24:56Speaker 1: had a lot. I had a lot of those takes.
- 25:00Speaker 1: I also loved when it came out, and it has
- 25:01Speaker 1: also been a long time since I'd seen it. It's
- 25:04Speaker 1: very fun. Rewatch directed by Brian Singer, who did He
- 25:08Speaker 1: did a lot of the X Men films like X two, early, Yeah,
- 25:13Speaker 1: Days of Future Past. He did Apocalypse as well. Yeah,
- 25:17Speaker 1: and he's also famously responsible for The Usual Suspects. Last
- 25:23Speaker 1: thing he did was Bohemian Rhapsody, so he's he's been
- 25:25Speaker 1: out out of the game for a little bit. A
- 25:28Speaker 1: lot of different kind of movies in there too. That's
- 25:30Speaker 1: all over the place for him. That's cool. Yeah, dude, Yeah,
- 25:34Speaker 1: I thought the special effects held up pretty well for
- 25:36Speaker 1: being twenty five years old. The actors are great. It
- 25:39Speaker 1: was fun getting to see Hugh Jackman as the Wolverine
- 25:41Speaker 1: for the first time. We've seen him in that role
- 25:44Speaker 1: so much over the last twenty five years totally and
- 25:48Speaker 1: till he's ninety as we've played you know, like they said, yeah,
- 25:51Speaker 1: dead pulling Wolverine.
- 25:52Speaker 6: Also, he was like not white, like he just looked
- 25:55Speaker 6: like a normal ripped person, not like.
- 25:58Speaker 1: A you know, insane statue.
- 26:02Speaker 3: Totally.
- 26:02Speaker 1: Yeah, but yeah. I was never a big comic book guys,
- 26:07Speaker 1: but from what I've heard, both fans of the comic
- 26:10Speaker 1: and casual movie fans enjoyed this movie, and that can
- 26:15Speaker 1: be hard to please both, so that's impressive. My hot
- 26:21Speaker 1: take is a way under utilized Tale Barry in this
- 26:24Speaker 1: film and gave her one of the worst lines in
- 26:26Speaker 1: the history of cinema. Man, that's about that's about to
- 26:31Speaker 1: be my quote probably absolutely has to be quote. I'll
- 26:38Speaker 1: save that for you later, but oh my god, it's
- 26:41Speaker 1: so bad. That's my hottest take. Okay, hot take bell.
- 26:47Speaker 3: All right, well I'll buy hot take.
- 26:49Speaker 5: I'll jump off and let's talk about the nine different
- 26:52Speaker 5: African accents that she tried to use.
- 26:55Speaker 3: Yeah, when you're doing a film.
- 26:57Speaker 5: When you're doing a film, we all know by now
- 26:59Speaker 5: that this isn't the Unsequentially, it's not like the first
- 27:02Speaker 5: shot of the film is the first thing that was shot.
- 27:04Speaker 3: That's not what it is. So it's it's tough.
- 27:07Speaker 5: I could tell that, Oh, here's her, and this was
- 27:10Speaker 5: probably on day one and she's really going hard on
- 27:13Speaker 5: this accent, and then you go like, you know, six
- 27:15Speaker 5: seems later and it's like, oh that changed. I got
- 27:18Speaker 5: either she got her to go or she forgot it
- 27:21Speaker 5: or it's different now. But yes, it continued to morph
- 27:25Speaker 5: throughout the film. So yeah, I definitely, especially for an
- 27:31Speaker 5: actress who's mighty, mighty talented. Yeah, I think that was
- 27:36Speaker 5: my hottest take because I was like, you know, after
- 27:38Speaker 5: the fact that you know, in two thousand, we're all
- 27:40Speaker 5: looking at her as, oh, you're a hot movie star.
- 27:43Speaker 5: We're not really engaging you know what in the last
- 27:46Speaker 5: twenty five years and you know, accolades and awards that
- 27:49Speaker 5: you've been able to get from those twenty five years.
- 27:52Speaker 3: But yeah, I was like, oh.
- 27:53Speaker 5: Man, but you know, we all, we all we all
- 27:56Speaker 5: start somewhere and grow from that.
- 27:58Speaker 3: Sure, Yeah, but.
- 28:01Speaker 5: This film, this film for me was really great. I
- 28:04Speaker 5: really loved Blade. And when Blade came out, it was
- 28:07Speaker 5: so undergrow. Yes it wasn't it wasn't pushed, but it
- 28:11Speaker 5: was Marvel and you knew it. And so it was like, oh,
- 28:13Speaker 5: here we go, We're going to start doing this finally.
- 28:15Speaker 5: Like I'm reading like Wizard magazine and they're all talking about, oh,
- 28:18Speaker 5: Spider Man's coming, spider Man's coming up, like ever since
- 28:20Speaker 5: nineteen eighty three. I'm like keeking out waiting for Spider Man.
- 28:23Speaker 5: And then all of a sudden, they're like, damn, they're
- 28:26Speaker 5: doing X Men first, and you're like.
- 28:27Speaker 3: Oh, okay, all right, all right.
- 28:29Speaker 5: And then the minute you found out that it was
- 28:31Speaker 5: going to be uh, Sir Patrick Stewart was going to
- 28:33Speaker 5: be Professor Axher like okay, all right, Well, at least
- 28:35Speaker 5: whoever's on casting has got a good idea of what
- 28:38Speaker 5: they're trying to put put together here, right, and the
- 28:41Speaker 5: cast is phenomenal. Man, we got real movie stars here,
- 28:43Speaker 5: some that were made for sure, like all of them,
- 28:47Speaker 5: let's be honest, and yeah, it's it's crazy. Like you said, great, rewatch,
- 28:54Speaker 5: but going back twenty five years, you're like, oh, man,
- 28:57Speaker 5: James Marsden I've seen you in so many things, right, yes, yes, now,
- 29:02Speaker 5: I recall the first time you were ever even brought
- 29:05Speaker 5: up to me was, yeah, you're playing psychops in this film.
- 29:09Speaker 5: But yeah, I I love this film. I loved all
- 29:11Speaker 5: the I love the whole, the whole, the plot of it,
- 29:17Speaker 5: trying to make the audience believe they want Wolverine.
- 29:19Speaker 3: They want Wolverine, They're after him.
- 29:21Speaker 5: He's so madassd they need to have him, there after him.
- 29:24Speaker 3: What's Magneto gonna do?
- 29:25Speaker 5: He's he's you know, his skeleton's laced in metal. And
- 29:28Speaker 5: that interaction that you know, meeting on the train was awesome.
- 29:32Speaker 5: And then you learn in that same meeting, I don't
- 29:35Speaker 5: care about you. Yeah, you're nothing. They want her, And yeah,
- 29:40Speaker 5: I remember in the I remember in the theater just
- 29:43Speaker 5: really being like, what what would they do with him?
- 29:45Speaker 5: What is what is his use to them? You know
- 29:48Speaker 5: they have sabre tooth, that's basically the same It's the
- 29:51Speaker 5: same guy, right, it's the same guy.
- 29:53Speaker 1: So he woos his ass pretty much, you know, at
- 29:56Speaker 1: least I.
- 29:57Speaker 5: Really gave it to him, for sure, Yeah, for sure.
- 30:00Speaker 3: But yeah, it was a really fun.
- 30:01Speaker 5: It was a really fun fun. Rewatch I loved I
- 30:04Speaker 5: noticed especially. I think one of my favorite parts was
- 30:07Speaker 5: when Professor X is first talking to Wolverine. He like
- 30:10Speaker 5: explains what's going on in this montage that is so succinct,
- 30:14Speaker 5: it's so perfect, and just use the story along and
- 30:17Speaker 5: you're like, yeah, this is the plight, this is the thing,
- 30:20Speaker 5: this is what's going on. And he did that in
- 30:22Speaker 5: maybe a minute, and I thought that that was really great.
- 30:25Speaker 5: I think a lot of films are missing that they
- 30:30Speaker 5: want you to already know it, or they want it's
- 30:32Speaker 5: so secret or it's hidden under things, and it's just like, no,
- 30:35Speaker 5: this is Professor X explaining what the world is, what's
- 30:39Speaker 5: going on, You're here, this is my school. Here we go. Yeah,
- 30:43Speaker 5: so yeah, yeah, I really really enjoyed this film. Huge
- 30:47Speaker 5: comic head. I loved the original X Men ninety two
- 30:52Speaker 5: the cartoon man, I was on that every Saturday.
- 30:55Speaker 3: Morning for sure.
- 30:56Speaker 5: Ninety seven is also fantastic.
- 30:58Speaker 1: I was going to say, didn't they bring that back? Yeah? Yeah,
- 31:02Speaker 1: that looked cool. Yeah.
- 31:03Speaker 6: X Men are definitely one of one of these days
- 31:07Speaker 6: we're getting a whole bunch of X Men again, for.
- 31:10Speaker 5: Sure, Yeah, throwing them into the I heard that they're
- 31:14Speaker 5: going to get the director of The Thunderbolts to do it,
- 31:17Speaker 5: to do the first X Men film.
- 31:19Speaker 1: That's a great call. Yeah, I hope that's right.
- 31:23Speaker 5: I thought he's been good with the team like that.
- 31:26Speaker 3: I thought it was a good film.
- 31:28Speaker 6: Really cool and felt very fresh and also went into
- 31:32Speaker 6: the darker tones, which I think you have to do
- 31:34Speaker 6: with X Men, like we said, you know earlier, so
- 31:37Speaker 6: but still funny, so fun and still joy Like four.
- 31:42Speaker 5: Got to the point where four four was just like goofy, dumb.
- 31:45Speaker 1: So goofy. I feel like I've said that where yeah.
- 31:50Speaker 5: Right, yeah, like this is now there's a little too
- 31:52Speaker 5: cartoony for such a badass, you know, literal god. But yeah,
- 31:58Speaker 5: I think, uh, I think it's gonna be It's to
- 32:00Speaker 5: be really interesting to see who gets cast as these
- 32:02Speaker 5: new characters and how they introduce them, especially since we
- 32:05Speaker 5: did First Class and we've seen them now Redonate and Redid.
- 32:09Speaker 3: And so yeah.
- 32:10Speaker 5: Absolutely, but they seem to love doing this.
- 32:12Speaker 3: You know, we're on what the ninth fantastic for now, Like.
- 32:17Speaker 5: They're just like we're just going to keep throwing different
- 32:19Speaker 5: noodles at the wall, one of them.
- 32:21Speaker 1: Something's gonna happen. Yeah, totally.
- 32:24Speaker 5: Well now that they have like Disney Plus, right, it's
- 32:26Speaker 5: like all the wall is just sticky wall. So whatever
- 32:28Speaker 5: we throw at it is going to get on there.
- 32:29Speaker 5: Because we are giving it to you.
- 32:30Speaker 3: You're gonna watch it, not totally love it.
- 32:34Speaker 1: Well, very cool, hot takes all around. Hot take. Let's
- 32:37Speaker 1: let's talk about our favorite acting performance. Let's name the
- 32:40Speaker 1: du the dude.
- 32:42Speaker 7: I'm the dude, so that's what you call me, you
- 32:45Speaker 7: know that, or his dude or duder or you know
- 32:51Speaker 7: el dudo reno if you're not into the whole brevity.
- 32:53Speaker 5: Thing, Yeah, that j My dude is the dudet and
- 32:58Speaker 5: my dude might be the Tucci. But but I loved
- 33:01Speaker 5: Anna Paquin in this. I got to huge affinity for Rogue.
- 33:05Speaker 5: She's one of my favorites a lover. I'm a Gambit fan,
- 33:08Speaker 5: so obviously they kind of go together. But I loved
- 33:12Speaker 5: that she was the through line and this this movie
- 33:15Speaker 5: was about her story, right. You get to see her
- 33:18Speaker 5: with her family, watch her power at first, you know,
- 33:21Speaker 5: and then watch her runaway, run into all these other
- 33:24Speaker 5: characters kind of by chance, and then find out at
- 33:28Speaker 5: the end, right, like that's who they want and they
- 33:30Speaker 5: want her because she is by far one of the
- 33:33Speaker 5: most powerful X Men mutant's characters in Marvel Universe for sure.
- 33:38Speaker 5: So I loved I loved her take. You know, you
- 33:40Speaker 5: got to see her as as a teenager. This is
- 33:42Speaker 5: right when she gets you. She's so scared, she's so frightened,
- 33:45Speaker 5: but she still knows I've got to protect myself. I
- 33:48Speaker 5: need to get someone around me who has the abilities
- 33:52Speaker 5: to even if I make.
- 33:53Speaker 3: A mistake, be okay.
- 33:56Speaker 5: And I think that that was a fun thing, especially
- 33:59Speaker 5: in you know, we're talking about the the struggle right
- 34:03Speaker 5: of these characters and them being outcast, right, but she's
- 34:07Speaker 5: then even further outcast from everyone else because she can't
- 34:10Speaker 5: touch anyone. She can't interact as a human or a mutant, right,
- 34:15Speaker 5: she just can't.
- 34:15Speaker 3: Do any of that.
- 34:16Speaker 5: So she's so removed and you really feel for So.
- 34:20Speaker 3: Yes, the dude that goes to Anna Packwin, that's great.
- 34:26Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, she had to do with a lot. I
- 34:31Speaker 1: think this was tough because it's such an ensemble cast.
- 34:36Speaker 1: But I think Magneto is just so badass I and
- 34:44Speaker 1: like you said, you kind of get it, You get
- 34:47Speaker 1: why he is doing what he's doing, Like you understand
- 34:51Speaker 1: where he's coming from. And I always feel like those
- 34:54Speaker 1: are the best villains where you can like really understand
- 34:58Speaker 1: their whole issue, and dude, Ian McKellen just he kills
- 35:03Speaker 1: it in everything he does. I was trying to look
- 35:05Speaker 1: back and I was like, I feel like this is
- 35:07Speaker 1: one of the first things I ever really saw him.
- 35:09Speaker 1: And I know he had been an actor before that.
- 35:11Speaker 5: But.
- 35:13Speaker 1: I think maybe apt Pupil was before this.
- 35:15Speaker 3: And then then another singer, Yeah.
- 35:18Speaker 1: Another Brian singer movie. Yeah. So yeah, dude, he's yeah
- 35:23Speaker 1: Magneto McKellen.
- 35:25Speaker 6: I also think it's great. So I picked Ian McKellen too.
- 35:27Speaker 6: I love him for all the reasons you said. Also
- 35:30Speaker 6: crazy that at I guess I don't know how old
- 35:33Speaker 6: he was for sure, at this point fifty years.
- 35:35Speaker 1: This has always seemed so old.
- 35:37Speaker 6: Yeah, but all of a sudden, and I know he'd
- 35:40Speaker 6: been working a ton before that and was already very successful,
- 35:43Speaker 6: but all of a sudden, it was like Lord of
- 35:44Speaker 6: the Rings X men, you know, like.
- 35:46Speaker 5: Totally what happened, you know, franchise man.
- 35:49Speaker 6: Yeah, so crazy. I picked him as well. I agree
- 35:53Speaker 6: it was super super hard because I think everyone is
- 35:56Speaker 6: wonderful in this. I truly think like they are are
- 36:00Speaker 6: perfect castings in this movie. Like we've said, Patrick Stewart
- 36:04Speaker 6: is definitely one of them. Yes, I think Hugh is
- 36:06Speaker 6: one of them at this point obviously, and then Ian
- 36:10Speaker 6: McKellen as well. And I love Anna Paquin too, so
- 36:13Speaker 6: I'm with you on that for sure. But yeah, Magneto
- 36:16Speaker 6: is just such a cool character and he brought everything
- 36:20Speaker 6: to it. He brings that sort of like the little
- 36:24Speaker 6: bit of a smirk to it. He brings He's obviously like,
- 36:27Speaker 6: oh but that if I need to, you.
- 36:29Speaker 1: Know, like like that that room.
- 36:33Speaker 6: Yeah, that little analysis that he brings to it is
- 36:37Speaker 6: just so great. I think he's just He's just wonderful.
- 36:41Speaker 6: And I the one thing I've been worried about with
- 36:43Speaker 6: the New X Men coming is how they are going
- 36:47Speaker 6: to bring if if Magneto is part.
- 36:49Speaker 1: Of that, which I assume will be.
- 36:51Speaker 6: Maybe it won't be, but how do you bring him
- 36:54Speaker 6: in in a current timeline without using the Holocaust stuff?
- 36:57Speaker 6: Because that works so well his character to have that
- 37:02Speaker 6: sort of like not only the spot where his gene
- 37:06Speaker 6: you know, came out and was expressed, right, but also
- 37:10Speaker 6: the reason why.
- 37:11Speaker 1: He you know, sees that this is going down such
- 37:14Speaker 1: a bad road, right, he has that trauma and history
- 37:17Speaker 1: in his past, and I just don't know exactly how
- 37:20Speaker 1: they're going to do that. I'm sure they like Unfortunately,
- 37:23Speaker 1: there are plenty of events that are similarly awful, right,
- 37:26Speaker 1: But I just think that works so well that I'm like, oh,
- 37:30Speaker 1: that'll be interesting to see. Maybe he'll just be real old,
- 37:32Speaker 1: you know, or something. I don't know, but uh, And
- 37:36Speaker 1: all that to say, Ian McKellen is amazing in this
- 37:39Speaker 1: and he just he's the best. I love himself the best.
- 37:43Speaker 1: So I picked him, but it was hard, So I'm
- 37:46Speaker 1: gonna enjoy this next one. Talking about everybody else in
- 37:49Speaker 1: the Tucci the Tucci world, yeah, we get.
- 37:54Speaker 3: For this one, I went with Sean Ashmore.
- 37:59Speaker 1: I hope.
- 38:00Speaker 5: I loved him in this film. He played ice Man
- 38:02Speaker 5: and and he was one of the He was one
- 38:05Speaker 5: of the few characters who got to be mystique right
- 38:08Speaker 5: for for a scene. So I thought that was cool too.
- 38:11Speaker 1: But but yeah.
- 38:13Speaker 5: I really liked I really liked how he did Bobby Drake.
- 38:17Speaker 5: And obviously he gets to stay with the franchise throughout
- 38:21Speaker 5: and you get to kind of evolve and you know eventually, right,
- 38:25Speaker 5: And I think it was like last stand, right.
- 38:27Speaker 3: You need to see him go full ice.
- 38:29Speaker 5: Yeah, and he has such cool moments throughout the franchise.
- 38:32Speaker 5: But in this film, I thought he really he really
- 38:35Speaker 5: showed up to this film and said, hey, guys, I'm
- 38:37Speaker 5: super important to this. I add this level that we
- 38:40Speaker 5: can use for for our sequels, and then they obviously
- 38:43Speaker 5: used him for those sequels. I thought he did a
- 38:45Speaker 5: really really great job.
- 38:47Speaker 3: Yeah, I thought he was.
- 38:48Speaker 5: I thought he was super awesome when I first saw
- 38:50Speaker 5: the film, and then I learned that he was a twin.
- 38:51Speaker 5: He's got a twin brother.
- 38:53Speaker 8: Yeah, crazy, yeah, and so it yeah, and they both
- 38:57Speaker 8: got like when when you think about it, you've seen
- 39:00Speaker 8: his face their face, and like multiple things, and then
- 39:02Speaker 8: you go on.
- 39:03Speaker 5: To like IMDb and you're like, oh right, yeah, half
- 39:05Speaker 5: of your credits is this, and happened to you have
- 39:08Speaker 5: half the credits?
- 39:08Speaker 1: It's not sure I ever knew that, because but that
- 39:11Speaker 1: makes sense.
- 39:12Speaker 5: Yeah, I was. I always wanted a twin. I always
- 39:15Speaker 5: thought it'd be so fun, and you know, I was
- 39:17Speaker 5: always wondered, especially as an actor, like geez, one morning,
- 39:20Speaker 5: you're not feeling all and you're just like doing I'm
- 39:21Speaker 5: tapping you in the mere actors just pretend to be
- 39:29Speaker 5: me being this guy totally. So yeah, I definitely give
- 39:33Speaker 5: it to to Shawn Asmore. He's such a he's such
- 39:35Speaker 5: a pimp too.
- 39:36Speaker 3: He made Bobby Drake such a pimp.
- 39:38Speaker 5: He's such a ladies man, not invert about it, but
- 39:41Speaker 5: he's just so kind and so like welcoming.
- 39:44Speaker 3: I thought that, Yeah, I thought he was the best.
- 39:48Speaker 1: Love that great. Yeah for sure. That that's a really
- 39:52Speaker 1: fun pick. I'm gonna take more of the low hanging
- 39:56Speaker 1: fruit and go for Sir Patrick Stewart as Xavier. Perfect
- 40:04Speaker 1: casting call, like I think you had said, Bukes. I mean,
- 40:08Speaker 1: he he's perfect. He's exactly what you want in that role.
- 40:15Speaker 1: And I just love the relationship between him and Magneto
- 40:20Speaker 1: and all of their scenes together just like it almost
- 40:23Speaker 1: feels like that scene in Heat where you just like
- 40:26Speaker 1: holding his breath just the whole movie. And I'm okay
- 40:29Speaker 1: with that. Yes, so yeah, I'm gonna pick him. I love.
- 40:35Speaker 1: That's a great one. Uh, I feel like I have
- 40:40Speaker 1: like a deep pull.
- 40:41Speaker 6: I'm gonna go deep poll first, Uh, it's not that deep,
- 40:44Speaker 6: Senator Kelly Bruce Davison, that's a fun one, dude, guy
- 40:48Speaker 6: so much in this movie, and that means he's doing
- 40:50Speaker 6: a great job, right, But he is also he goes
- 40:55Speaker 6: like kind of on a pretty good arc in this movie,
- 40:58Speaker 6: which is fun because he understands and you know, I
- 41:01Speaker 6: get that it's not him at the end, but I
- 41:03Speaker 6: do think he maybe would feel that way by the
- 41:05Speaker 6: end of the movie, you know, if everything was the same.
- 41:08Speaker 6: But I thought he just did a great job because
- 41:11Speaker 6: I really detested him through a lot of it, and
- 41:14Speaker 6: then you know, he had to do a lot of stuff,
- 41:16Speaker 6: so that was pretty fun. Yeah, And just talking about
- 41:20Speaker 6: a guy who who isn't perfect but also is perfect,
- 41:24Speaker 6: Hugh Jackman, who we've already talked about, Like, yes, Wolverine
- 41:27Speaker 6: is supposed to be tiny, this dude is immense. Yeah,
- 41:31Speaker 6: and it's still great And he is in my own brain,
- 41:34Speaker 6: he is a reason why when someone immediately like judges
- 41:38Speaker 6: a casting of whatever, I'm always just like, yeah.
- 41:40Speaker 1: But let's see a play out because everyone said.
- 41:43Speaker 6: I'm sure people were saying he's not gonna work because
- 41:46Speaker 6: he's so tall and whatever. But he's great as Wolverine.
- 41:50Speaker 6: Like the deep anger, he really brings that forward while
- 41:54Speaker 6: also showing that he just he cares so much about
- 41:57Speaker 6: people around him, like show him a tiny bit of
- 42:01Speaker 6: like kindness and he has your back forever, you know,
- 42:04Speaker 6: just totally. I love that character a ton too. But man,
- 42:08Speaker 6: he's just so good on this and he's just it
- 42:11Speaker 6: was fun to see him in this first iteration of
- 42:15Speaker 6: it because he's still real fairal too of like, yeah,
- 42:18Speaker 6: he's just scared, Like he doesn't have his memory, so
- 42:20Speaker 6: he's just scared. He doesn't trust anybody, right, like even
- 42:23Speaker 6: his eyes like darting around like I need to get
- 42:25Speaker 6: the hell out of here.
- 42:26Speaker 1: You know. I just really loved it a lot. I
- 42:28Speaker 1: thought he was wonderful. Yeah, dude, I picked him. What
- 42:32Speaker 1: other runner ups we got for that? Still so many folks.
- 42:37Speaker 3: There's still so many folks.
- 42:39Speaker 5: I just keep talking about Hugh Jackman.
- 42:41Speaker 3: Those laws were so.
- 42:44Speaker 9: Cool, so so good man, and they were the look
- 42:49Speaker 9: in the comics as the X Men and Wolverine have
- 42:52Speaker 9: been drawn, Like there's so many different iterations and different artists.
- 42:55Speaker 5: Yeah, different jabs at it right and got like I
- 42:58Speaker 5: never liked the like skinny skinny claws that looked like
- 43:01Speaker 5: you know, they were just like skewer kabobs.
- 43:04Speaker 1: Coming out of these were like legitvival knives coming out
- 43:08Speaker 1: of his Yeah, man, yeah, I love those.
- 43:12Speaker 5: I thought for him, his size didn't really bother me.
- 43:15Speaker 5: It didn't bother me at all, because you just look
- 43:18Speaker 5: at it. You know, this is a human being. What
- 43:20Speaker 5: what what five six guy? Are you going to get?
- 43:23Speaker 5: Like Tom Cruise isn't doing this, so what are we?
- 43:25Speaker 3: What are we going to do here?
- 43:27Speaker 5: I thought he did so good and like you were
- 43:29Speaker 5: saying alluding to he's so animalistic in this, it was
- 43:33Speaker 5: so just right on the edge, right on the surface
- 43:36Speaker 5: of everything he was doing. And then they did a
- 43:38Speaker 5: really good job of not showing you too much of
- 43:41Speaker 5: the memories when like Jane would go into his mind
- 43:44Speaker 5: or Professor X would go into his mind.
- 43:45Speaker 3: But you got to see those those.
- 43:47Speaker 5: Green toned flashbacks of all the stuff drawn on him
- 43:51Speaker 5: right all the all those spots, and yeah, yeah, it
- 43:54Speaker 5: was it was fun. I really I really enjoyed his take.
- 43:58Speaker 5: He was he was funny, he was masculine, he was heroic,
- 44:01Speaker 5: he was brooding. Yeah, and he and you know, especially
- 44:06Speaker 5: after watching the uh the cartoon and being familiar with
- 44:10Speaker 5: the characters and their relationship with each other from the cartoon,
- 44:12Speaker 5: they really nailed it, especially him and him and Cyclops right,
- 44:17Speaker 5: like they they nailed it.
- 44:20Speaker 3: Yeah, I thought.
- 44:21Speaker 5: I thought that they really did a good job those
- 44:23Speaker 5: two together and playing that like we're on the same team,
- 44:26Speaker 5: but like, don't mess with my.
- 44:27Speaker 1: Girl, Like yeah, well, and their girl is Fanka Jensen,
- 44:35Speaker 1: who I always had such a crush on. She's really yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 44:43Speaker 1: I'm with you. I love it. That's great, She's awesome.
- 44:47Speaker 1: Uh ray Park that was fun character, but it was fun.
- 44:54Speaker 5: It was yeah, you know, like I thought it was
- 44:57Speaker 5: fun too that they gave him the staff so fall right.
- 45:01Speaker 5: It was okay, yeah, you.
- 45:03Speaker 1: Can do it.
- 45:04Speaker 10: Why not, right, I mean, yeah, it's such a such
- 45:08Speaker 10: a weird character, but definitely belongs.
- 45:10Speaker 1: To the character.
- 45:11Speaker 5: It's such a weird character. And I thought the little
- 45:14Speaker 5: spots that he got to have they showed off what
- 45:16Speaker 5: he can do. Fine, but they still gave him those
- 45:19Speaker 5: those spots of him like jumping on the security guard
- 45:22Speaker 5: and like taking them out with one jump, and like yeah,
- 45:24Speaker 5: it was like okay, yeah, Toad's like stupid, but I'm
- 45:27Speaker 5: glad he's here.
- 45:29Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm with you on that.
- 45:31Speaker 6: Also, I didn't know stan Lee started doing his appearances
- 45:35Speaker 6: this early because he was in the He was a
- 45:38Speaker 6: hot dog vendor on the beach when the senator came
- 45:41Speaker 6: up and was naked and all, oh sure, And I
- 45:44Speaker 6: didn't realize they started that that soon.
- 45:45Speaker 1: That's awesome.
- 45:47Speaker 5: One of the other vendors on that beach scene is
- 45:51Speaker 5: one of those guys who got implicated in like the
- 45:53Speaker 5: Nickelodeon scandals with those kids.
- 45:57Speaker 1: Like, yeah, I was.
- 45:58Speaker 3: Watching the documentary about it and they.
- 45:59Speaker 5: Were, hey, this guy was like working to stuff and
- 46:02Speaker 5: they showed that scene of him being that and I was.
- 46:04Speaker 1: Like, oh, man, like, oh that sucks.
- 46:06Speaker 3: You had him.
- 46:06Speaker 5: Not only were you having them on a on a
- 46:08Speaker 5: set with a bunch of kids for a TV show,
- 46:10Speaker 5: but then you threw them on a major movie set
- 46:12Speaker 5: with a bunch of kids too.
- 46:14Speaker 1: Yeah, dude, that stuff is also messed up. It's very
- 46:17Speaker 1: yuck yuck.
- 46:19Speaker 6: Yeah, indeed, Mr Oh, Rebecca Romain.
- 46:24Speaker 1: That's mystique.
- 46:25Speaker 3: She was great.
- 46:26Speaker 6: We said the CGI and stuff was cool. I thought
- 46:28Speaker 6: she was really good. I really liked her a lot.
- 46:30Speaker 5: She had such she had like very little lines and
- 46:33Speaker 5: she nailed every time she was on camera.
- 46:36Speaker 1: Yeah, totally, And that character is so neat. I was
- 46:40Speaker 1: I was reading a little bit of this backstory about
- 46:42Speaker 1: her character, not so much in this movie, but just
- 46:45Speaker 1: in the comics world. And it's she's really cool. That's
- 46:47Speaker 1: an interesting I didn't know she her and Magneto are
- 46:51Speaker 1: not really in the comics world. They're not really together. Ever,
- 46:55Speaker 1: they're not like a team like they are in these movies.
- 46:58Speaker 3: She's very solo's cool.
- 47:01Speaker 1: That's super interesting.
- 47:02Speaker 3: But she's the mother of Rogue and Nightcrawler.
- 47:05Speaker 1: Yeah, that's nuts. Nuts, that is nuts.
- 47:10Speaker 5: Yeah, it's nuts that Rogue isn't blue.
- 47:13Speaker 1: But whatever there is that. Maybe she's just changing it.
- 47:18Speaker 1: I guess we don't know. Blue is her regular color.
- 47:21Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 47:22Speaker 3: Yeah, that might just be the one that she likes.
- 47:23Speaker 1: It seems like it probably is, though, I think you're right. Uh,
- 47:27Speaker 1: that was all the people I had though for the
- 47:29Speaker 1: two cool. Yeah, why don't we pick our favorite scene.
- 47:32Speaker 1: Let's choose the dingus us.
- 47:36Speaker 5: So dingas is quite simple, really ingus dingus.
- 47:39Speaker 1: I could talk about my dingas all night long.
- 47:41Speaker 3: Kiss the dingus.
- 47:44Speaker 1: What's your favorite scene.
- 47:45Speaker 5: In this Okay, So I've got two and they're tied
- 47:48Speaker 5: and they're both involving Logan and Rogue. Yes, the first
- 47:52Speaker 5: was the bar scene, the first bar scene where she
- 47:55Speaker 5: meets him, so and you see the claus like, it's
- 47:58Speaker 5: just so cool when the guy with the when the
- 48:01Speaker 5: when the guy put the shotgun to the back of
- 48:02Speaker 5: his head, you knew something.
- 48:04Speaker 1: Was coming, Yeah, totally.
- 48:05Speaker 5: And when he turned around and cut it in half
- 48:07Speaker 5: and now he's got both of them out, he's in
- 48:09Speaker 5: that right in that in that in that pose was
- 48:13Speaker 5: so cool. That the baby falls, the guy's like, oh,
- 48:19Speaker 5: there goes my weapon and one clean droke. But I
- 48:23Speaker 5: always love one of my favorite, one of my favorite
- 48:25Speaker 5: panels in comics, and Jim Lead did this was Gambit
- 48:30Speaker 5: and Wolverine are fighting and Gambit does the thing where
- 48:32Speaker 5: he's got his two claws up up along his face
- 48:36Speaker 5: and then he says he says a line like, uh
- 48:38Speaker 5: like sometimes the middle one slips like just like threatening, right, yeah,
- 48:42Speaker 5: And he didn't have this line in this movie. But
- 48:44Speaker 5: I love that they did that. I love that they
- 48:47Speaker 5: showed that he has that control of the clause to
- 48:51Speaker 5: be able to do one, two, three, whatever, it doesn't matter,
- 48:54Speaker 5: he's got the control of it. I love that scene
- 48:56Speaker 5: so much. And you watch Anna Paquin's face and it's
- 48:59Speaker 5: all over face the excitement, that's the fear, the oh God.
- 49:02Speaker 5: And then you know when he finally leaves, she's like,
- 49:05Speaker 5: that's my ticket, Like that's my ticket.
- 49:07Speaker 3: That's who can help me?
- 49:09Speaker 5: Because they allude to it in the beginning when when
- 49:12Speaker 5: the guy comes up through his ears and he's like,
- 49:13Speaker 5: no one takes a hit like that and doesn't have
- 49:15Speaker 5: a scratch to show for it. He's already you know
- 49:19Speaker 5: when they when they showed the thing on the TV
- 49:20Speaker 5: with the Senator Kelly and the un thing and they both.
- 49:23Speaker 3: Look at it and she notices.
- 49:24Speaker 5: She's like, oh, yeah, you're a mutant, Like I can
- 49:26Speaker 5: recognize your body language of you being outcast here and
- 49:30Speaker 5: that's why and that's what I think, maybe I am.
- 49:33Speaker 3: I got to be with you.
- 49:35Speaker 5: So that was that was definitely one of my favorite scenes.
- 49:37Speaker 5: And then the second one is the injury when he's
- 49:40Speaker 5: having the nightmare and she goes into his rooms. When
- 49:46Speaker 5: I was when I was in the theater, and I'm jeez,
- 49:48Speaker 5: what we were in two thousand, but that's like ninth
- 49:51Speaker 5: tenth grade. The theater is quiet, it's silent. When he
- 49:57Speaker 5: wakes up and stabs her, because it's like, oh, total
- 50:00Speaker 5: three giant knives like literally going through her. You see it,
- 50:04Speaker 5: and there's this pause, there's like a two beat pause,
- 50:06Speaker 5: and then just it. I couldn't stop it out of
- 50:08Speaker 5: my mouth. I go, you gotta touch him, like like
- 50:12Speaker 5: I yelled it out, like you gotta touch him. And
- 50:16Speaker 5: I remember my friends that I was with.
- 50:20Speaker 3: Of course she's got to touch him. Shut up, dude,
- 50:21Speaker 3: like shut up.
- 50:22Speaker 5: And but that cgi was cool too, and you know
- 50:26Speaker 5: when people life out of them. But then you got
- 50:29Speaker 5: to watch those three holes heel up and yeah, totally
- 50:33Speaker 5: so love those those those two characters, those two actors
- 50:36Speaker 5: are in both of my both of my favorite scenes.
- 50:38Speaker 3: Totally.
- 50:39Speaker 1: That's awesome, dude. They're also in my favorite scene, which
- 50:45Speaker 1: is when Logan is going back to get Rogue. She's
- 50:51Speaker 1: on the train and that's when everything goes crazy and
- 50:55Speaker 1: Anito comes. He rips the train apart, you know, uh,
- 51:00Speaker 1: he has Logan up, you know, floating in the air,
- 51:04Speaker 1: and then just just shows just how powerful he is.
- 51:09Speaker 1: But then yeah, like lifting up the police cars and
- 51:12Speaker 1: taking all their weapons and having the bullet just circling,
- 51:18Speaker 1: and that is like, I don't think I can stop
- 51:20Speaker 1: them all, you know, even though you could for sure yeah,
- 51:27Speaker 1: but they all got to show off their powers, and
- 51:29Speaker 1: then you have Xavier's abilities using like the people next
- 51:34Speaker 1: to him, you know, talking to him through these people,
- 51:37Speaker 1: and just I just thought all that was so much fun.
- 51:42Speaker 1: I loved it. Yeah, yeah, I love him.
- 51:45Speaker 6: In all the scenes you guys picked too, we really
- 51:47Speaker 6: get these moments of seeing like core parts of their
- 51:51Speaker 6: characters too, because like on that train scene you just said,
- 51:54Speaker 6: Rob Logan is like, yeah, I don't think this is
- 51:57Speaker 6: a good idea to run away, but I'm I'm with
- 51:59Speaker 6: you now, like we are. We are, and I'm not
- 52:04Speaker 6: telling you you're wrong, like I'll tell you I don't
- 52:06Speaker 6: know that I agree, but also cool, this is what
- 52:09Speaker 6: we're doing. And in the one you said, j Mac
- 52:12Speaker 6: with the where she gets stabbed, like her instinct is
- 52:15Speaker 6: to protect him and say it was just an accident,
- 52:18Speaker 6: like he didn't try, even as she's struggling, you know
- 52:22Speaker 6: or whatever, and in this bad situation and he reacts
- 52:26Speaker 6: and wants to take it back right away, Like these
- 52:27Speaker 6: are all parts of their characters, which I love. I
- 52:31Speaker 6: had all the scenes you guys said. The only one
- 52:34Speaker 6: that I will add is when the senator has taken
- 52:38Speaker 6: hostage and Magneto is like sort of reading in the
- 52:41Speaker 6: Bill of Rights there and stuff he talks about like
- 52:44Speaker 6: let's just say God works too slowly and all that stuff.
- 52:47Speaker 6: I loved that scene. I thought it was real cool.
- 52:50Speaker 1: And again just that like malice that he has a
- 52:54Speaker 1: little bit, you know.
- 52:55Speaker 6: And he's not even doing it to be a dick.
- 52:56Speaker 6: He just is like, this is the only way, and
- 53:00Speaker 6: I have to protect me and mine, you know. Really,
- 53:04Speaker 6: it's it's really great, but I had.
- 53:08Speaker 1: My number one was the first introduction to Wolverine. That
- 53:11Speaker 1: that whole fight, and then you know, cool the bar
- 53:14Speaker 1: scene and stuff. But yeah, dude, that was awesome. I
- 53:16Speaker 1: would totally be fine with that being I'm.
- 53:19Speaker 6: Not mad at any of those, to be honest, maybe
- 53:21Speaker 6: we just say Logan and Rogue just all together every
- 53:25Speaker 6: scene they ever have.
- 53:28Speaker 1: Well, dude, and then you get a Logan on Logan
- 53:30Speaker 1: fight with the Mystique that was pretty bad.
- 53:33Speaker 6: That was a lot of iterations of that in my
- 53:35Speaker 6: private time in the bunk, A lot of iterations of that.
- 53:39Speaker 3: Total.
- 53:40Speaker 1: No, it's so cool and it's so funny.
- 53:42Speaker 6: Earlier you were talking about Iceman and you were like,
- 53:46Speaker 6: you know, he gets to play the mystique character. I'm
- 53:49Speaker 6: such a dummy when it comes to like even in
- 53:52Speaker 6: Harry Potter or whatever, I always still think it's the
- 53:55Speaker 6: other person playing that character for some reason. In my
- 53:58Speaker 6: bro yes, I was like, does get to act like her?
- 54:01Speaker 6: And I every time I'm like.
- 54:03Speaker 1: Man, Emma Watson does such a good job acting like
- 54:06Speaker 1: Helen the bottom Carter And then I'm like, well that's
- 54:09Speaker 1: her act. Yeah, so dumb. But every time I think that,
- 54:14Speaker 1: it's so funny. But those scenes are just so fun Yeah.
- 54:18Speaker 5: I think too with with that, with the scene that
- 54:20Speaker 5: you were saying with Senator Kelly in that weird Sewer
- 54:25Speaker 5: Island Castle when almost yeah, yeah, totally but like really
- 54:32Speaker 5: wet and dang almost.
- 54:34Speaker 3: That cavish totally.
- 54:36Speaker 5: But I liked when Professor X goes in into his
- 54:40Speaker 5: mind and goes back there and you watch him stand
- 54:43Speaker 5: up out of the chair because you know he's right,
- 54:46Speaker 5: he's got to be in his chair in real life,
- 54:48Speaker 5: but when he's in your mind, I can, I could
- 54:50Speaker 5: float if I wanted. So he gets to watch it
- 54:53Speaker 5: all kind of play back and and see and feel
- 54:56Speaker 5: and know what's going on with the Senator in that moment.
- 54:59Speaker 5: I thought that was That was really cool that first
- 55:01Speaker 5: scene to set it up like that to really and
- 55:04Speaker 5: still this is the fear in this human being of
- 55:08Speaker 5: what he thinks his future could be. Because yeah, in
- 55:11Speaker 5: the next couple of minutes, this is what your future is.
- 55:13Speaker 5: They're going to kill you. Yeah, like they don't want
- 55:17Speaker 5: you here anymore. And if you're not a mutant by now,
- 55:19Speaker 5: like you don't get to be here anymore.
- 55:21Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, that's pretty wild, pretty wild. Uh yeah, I
- 55:27Speaker 1: don't know, Boom.
- 55:35Speaker 6: Let's go on and talk about some of these quotes.
- 55:36Speaker 6: It's time to show me the money, show.
- 55:41Speaker 3: Me, Okay, there was.
- 55:49Speaker 5: There was a lot of great quotes and interactions here.
- 55:53Speaker 5: I think my favorite after the mystique fight with Wolverine.
- 55:57Speaker 5: He comes back to Gene and cycle and he's like, oh,
- 56:01Speaker 5: don't worry, it's me and Cyclops is like, how do
- 56:04Speaker 5: we know? And he and he flicks him off with
- 56:07Speaker 5: the claw and I'm in the theater. We all laughed
- 56:09Speaker 5: at that was funny. It was a funny one. But
- 56:11Speaker 5: in that same uh fight at Liberty Islands is the
- 56:15Speaker 5: best line of all time, uh, spoken by halle Berry
- 56:19Speaker 5: when she asks Toad, do you know what happens to
- 56:22Speaker 5: a toad when it gets struck by lightning, and then
- 56:24Speaker 5: she goes the same thing in a different accent.
- 56:27Speaker 3: By the way she changes.
- 56:28Speaker 1: Accidents in the line.
- 56:31Speaker 5: In the line, she changes the same thing that happens,
- 56:35Speaker 5: and it's a clever line, but it was just the
- 56:38Speaker 5: placement of it and the way she said it was
- 56:40Speaker 5: just so flat.
- 56:42Speaker 10: And yeah, yeah.
- 56:53Speaker 5: Yeah, that's the taking. See, that's the thing as an actor.
- 56:55Speaker 5: You don't know what take they're gonna do.
- 56:56Speaker 1: Sure, yeah, you're showing up at the.
- 56:58Speaker 5: Premiere and they show it to you.
- 57:00Speaker 3: God, I know.
- 57:03Speaker 5: There was like there was like a hanging light in
- 57:04Speaker 5: the back. There was a grip in the back when
- 57:06Speaker 5: I did it, right, But yeah, those are by two
- 57:10Speaker 5: quotes for sure.
- 57:11Speaker 1: Oh dude, Yeah, that is the quote I loved. Wolverine,
- 57:18Speaker 1: you actually go outside in these things, and Cyclops says, well,
- 57:21Speaker 1: what would you prefer yellow spandex? And also yes I would, yes,
- 57:29Speaker 1: and yes, correct Logan, there's someone here Cyclops is where
- 57:35Speaker 1: he said, I don't know, keep your eye open like that. Yeah,
- 57:42Speaker 1: And I also liked another snarky Wolverine comment. He's talking
- 57:47Speaker 1: to Professor X. He's just like, what do they call you? Wheels?
- 57:51Speaker 1: This is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Yeah, yeah,
- 57:58Speaker 1: what do you got.
- 58:00Speaker 6: I love at the end when I think Wolverine tells
- 58:04Speaker 6: Storm to you know, zap them with some lightning to
- 58:08Speaker 6: get them, just like frog Man, and then Magneto goes, oh, yes,
- 58:13Speaker 6: a bolt of lightning into a huge copper conductor.
- 58:15Speaker 1: I thought you lived in a school. He was just
- 58:22Speaker 1: being sassy at that point. I was really digging it.
- 58:26Speaker 6: Magneto and Professor Xavier Early they're talking about I think
- 58:32Speaker 6: about Yeah. I think Magneto goes, I've seen this before
- 58:36Speaker 6: where they try to separate us and put us into
- 58:38Speaker 6: you know, camps and all these things, and Professor x goes,
- 58:41Speaker 6: it was a long time ago. Mankind has evolved since then,
- 58:44Speaker 6: and Magneto's response of yes, into us is just so
- 58:49Speaker 6: sick like again, you know, like just how similar they are,
- 58:55Speaker 6: but also where they diverge.
- 58:56Speaker 1: In a very important way. I just love that lineup
- 58:59Speaker 1: of those really cool. I love.
- 59:05Speaker 6: The flirting between Logan and Gene. It's really funny and
- 59:11Speaker 6: kind of out of nowhere upon rewatch, Like, I know
- 59:14Speaker 6: they have a lot of history at other times, but
- 59:18Speaker 6: it was just funny to watch it in this one
- 59:20Speaker 6: that you just kind of had to go along. But
- 59:21Speaker 6: when he was like, so you couldn't wait to get
- 59:23Speaker 6: my shirt off again?
- 59:24Speaker 1: Huh Yeah? Yeah, that was really fun and just a
- 59:28Speaker 1: good time.
- 59:33Speaker 6: Oh and I loved and I kind of wish he
- 59:35Speaker 6: didn't say the ball blind but it was so funny
- 59:37Speaker 6: when he was like, you're gonna tell me to stay
- 59:39Speaker 6: away from your girl? If I had to do that,
- 59:41Speaker 6: she wouldn't be my girl. But then he immediately does
- 59:43Speaker 6: say like it's which is understandable and believable. But I
- 59:49Speaker 6: was like, I just kind of be like, I'm too
- 59:51Speaker 6: cool for that to worry about.
- 59:53Speaker 1: But it was fun. I like that, Yeah, you got
- 59:57Speaker 1: to say it to Hugh Jackman. Definitely. Yeah.
- 59:59Speaker 6: I I would be very worried about Hugh Jackman's very well,
- 1:00:03Speaker 6: very Actually I wouldn't be.
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: I'd be like, I mean, we all know what has
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: to happen, get after it, go ahead. It's fine.
- 1:00:16Speaker 6: For him, you know, like, I don't know what do you?
- 1:00:20Speaker 6: I'm only a man. What am I supposed to do?
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: Oh?
- 1:00:27Speaker 6: And just a badass line again. Because there is no
- 1:00:30Speaker 6: land of tolerance. There is no peace, not here or
- 1:00:32Speaker 6: anywhere else. Women and children, whole families destroyed simply because
- 1:00:36Speaker 6: they were born different from those in power. But after tonight,
- 1:00:40Speaker 6: the world's powerful will be just like us. They will
- 1:00:43Speaker 6: return home as brothers. That's like sort of his like credo.
- 1:00:47Speaker 6: Right at that point, I.
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: Was just like, I don't know, man, you're wrong, but
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: also are you like it? I get it. I just
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: love that the ones I had, though, yeah, I didn't
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: have anything else.
- 1:01:03Speaker 5: I think, I think the only other little one. And
- 1:01:05Speaker 5: I don't remember the exact quote, but it's after Rogue
- 1:01:07Speaker 5: has healed herself and put Wolverine down, and he's talking
- 1:01:12Speaker 5: to Professor X and he asked, you know, is she okay?
- 1:01:15Speaker 3: Is she okay?
- 1:01:15Speaker 5: She's fine, She's going to be fine, and he was like, yeah,
- 1:01:18Speaker 5: I felt I felt like, you know, I was going
- 1:01:20Speaker 5: to die. And and Professor xos, if she would have
- 1:01:23Speaker 5: held on any longer, you would have And that line
- 1:01:26Speaker 5: alone was like I remember hearing that and being like, yes,
- 1:01:30Speaker 5: like that's her power, that's what she She could literally
- 1:01:34Speaker 5: take any of you out by just holding on for
- 1:01:36Speaker 5: five seconds.
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: Even that guy, you know. And like such a setting conversation,
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: which I feel like is really important. Superhero movies to
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: me totally like.
- 1:01:47Speaker 5: You because in that in that in the scene where
- 1:01:49Speaker 5: they're where they're in his uh where they're in his
- 1:01:52Speaker 5: r V camper, and you know, she's already seen his
- 1:01:55Speaker 5: claws come out and obviously seen him heal and and
- 1:01:58Speaker 5: all this stuff, and he's like, I'm not going to
- 1:02:01Speaker 5: hurt you. After he goes to like turn the heater on,
- 1:02:03Speaker 5: and she's like, you know, don't touch me, like type
- 1:02:06Speaker 5: of movement. It's like, I'm not going to hurt you,
- 1:02:07Speaker 5: and she's like things, things get bad when people touch me, which.
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: Is tell me. That's kind of the misunderstanding he has
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: about who Magnetos after too.
- 1:02:18Speaker 6: He thinks she's worried about him hurting her. She's worried
- 1:02:20Speaker 6: about hurting him. She thinks Magneto's after him. She's really
- 1:02:23Speaker 6: really about her.
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: Yeah, that's totally Yeah, that's great. Nice. Let's move on
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: to bugs Booho moments. The crying Game. I had a
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: hard time with this one, too, fair. I thought you
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: might have had some hype tears, maybe just seeing Wolverine
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: for the first time because you are so sentimental. Oh
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: I am, But it didn't get that good. Okay, I
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: understand where you're coming from. And then I feel like
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: the only times you could have boohooed are during the
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: rogue moments, and I didn't write any dub.
- 1:02:56Speaker 5: Yeah, so yeah, I guess zero think of anything where
- 1:03:01Speaker 5: you would.
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: I was like, I was.
- 1:03:03Speaker 5: Trying to figure out where where could he squeeze out
- 1:03:06Speaker 5: some safty water from his eyes?
- 1:03:10Speaker 6: So you're right about the rogue moments. But there was
- 1:03:12Speaker 6: two of those. When she's talking about the guy that
- 1:03:15Speaker 6: she kissed that was in the coma for three weeks
- 1:03:18Speaker 6: or whatever it was, she's just very like, I can't
- 1:03:23Speaker 6: even touch anyone. I can't get close to anyone, you
- 1:03:24Speaker 6: know that stuff. Then when we think we like lost her,
- 1:03:28Speaker 6: you know, and we think she's died at the very end,
- 1:03:31Speaker 6: I mean, after she gets the cool Shaka white hair
- 1:03:33Speaker 6: and okay, and that bit got me because you know,
- 1:03:38Speaker 6: he like touches her and then nothing happens for a second.
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: Right, you're right, those two got me. The senator got
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: me when he was like, please don't leave me, I
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: don't want to be alone really got me this time,
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: Like he was just very vulnerable in that moment. I
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: don't know, yeah he was. And then there was one
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: that and at the very beginning it had very little
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: to do with this movie, I feel like just the
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: state of the world.
- 1:04:04Speaker 6: But the concentration camp stuff at the beginning got me.
- 1:04:07Speaker 6: So I was just like, yeah, like obviously this is
- 1:04:10Speaker 6: an awful event. We're also doing it again, you know,
- 1:04:12Speaker 6: like all these things right where it's just like you know,
- 1:04:16Speaker 6: So that did get me at the beginning.
- 1:04:18Speaker 5: So it was that was a powerful scene.
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: That was It was so well done. It was crazy.
- 1:04:24Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: Yeah four for this one. Let's do a little movie trivia.
- 1:04:31Speaker 6: Hugh Jackman took ice cold showers every morning of filming
- 1:04:34Speaker 6: in order to help him get into character. And apparently
- 1:04:37Speaker 6: this tradition started when he was jumping in the shower
- 1:04:39Speaker 6: at five am before realizing there was no hot water,
- 1:04:44Speaker 6: shocked awake, but not wanting to wake up his sleeping wife,
- 1:04:47Speaker 6: he gritted his teeth and just like was like you
- 1:04:50Speaker 6: know or whatever, and he realized that is like the
- 1:04:53Speaker 6: attitude Wolverine is always in where he's just got this
- 1:04:56Speaker 6: fury in him but he.
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: Can't let it out.
- 1:04:59Speaker 6: And apparently he's done the cold shower things in every
- 1:05:03Speaker 6: Wolverine day since, so he's taken a lot.
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: Of cool shows for a long time. Yeah, but I
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: was like, that's cool. What a neat little like getting
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: behind the scenes like that. That's cool. That is cool.
- 1:05:18Speaker 6: Oh, shortly after accepting the role of Magneto, sir Ian
- 1:05:21Speaker 6: McKellen was offered the role of Gandal from Lord of
- 1:05:23Speaker 6: the Rings, which originally he had to decline and I.
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: Didn't know this crazy.
- 1:05:28Speaker 6: We spoke to Brian Singer about his interest in making
- 1:05:31Speaker 6: Lord of the Rings and Singer agreed to re arrange
- 1:05:33Speaker 6: the movie's shooting schedule so McKellen would finish his scenes
- 1:05:36Speaker 6: by the end of ninety nine, freeing him up to
- 1:05:39Speaker 6: go to New Zealand.
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: In two thousand. So like that could have changed a
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: lot of things that worked. That's pretty wild.
- 1:05:47Speaker 6: Yeah, so I'm selfishly very happy about that.
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: I thought it was funny. Neither Sir Patrick Stewart nor
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: Sir Ian McKellen knew how to play chess. Apparently when
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: they were filming the chess scene they had to bring
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: in a chess grandmaster. Yeah, they were like, we don't
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: know how to play.
- 1:06:05Speaker 5: I guess they got a grand master. They couldn't just
- 1:06:08Speaker 5: get a grip.
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: Yes, it's not a grandmaster. Were not money was.
- 1:06:14Speaker 5: Twentieth century Fox throwing around.
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: I wonder is did they know how to play them?
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: They were like, we can get them to pay for
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: lessons chess lessons for us if we just tell them
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: we don't know how this is start play. That was
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: pretty wild.
- 1:06:31Speaker 6: Apparently that Rebecca Romaine doesn't sound like she had an
- 1:06:36Speaker 6: awesome time, but she had fun. To celebrate her last
- 1:06:40Speaker 6: dance at she brought in a bottle of tequila, which
- 1:06:43Speaker 6: she gave to her fellow cast and crew during a
- 1:06:45Speaker 6: break in filming. Unfortunately, that day she also was filming
- 1:06:49Speaker 6: Wolverine and Mystiques fight scene, I guess, and she ended
- 1:06:53Speaker 6: up throwing up blue colored vomit all over Hugh Jackman.
- 1:06:57Speaker 11: Oh, so that's kind of it was, It just says
- 1:07:03Speaker 11: making It seems like for the last day.
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: She's like, I put blue food coloring in here because
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: I thoughtould be fun.
- 1:07:16Speaker 6: Also, it sucks, uh. But the reason I said she
- 1:07:20Speaker 6: didn't also maybe have a great time. She's in order
- 1:07:23Speaker 6: to keep her look a secret, she had to sit
- 1:07:25Speaker 6: in isolation basically the entire time she was chooting, and
- 1:07:30Speaker 6: she has said in interviews like I had almost no
- 1:07:32Speaker 6: contact with the rest of the cast. It was like
- 1:07:35Speaker 6: I was making a different movie from everyone else, and
- 1:07:37Speaker 6: she said it was kind of.
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: Like hell, and I was like, yeah, that would suck
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: because there's so much downtime anyway, right, Yeah, especially on
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: a giant.
- 1:07:45Speaker 5: That's very mystique though that's true.
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: That is true.
- 1:07:49Speaker 5: Isolated like that and do all your stuff by yourself basically.
- 1:07:52Speaker 6: Yeah, totally, and he Her makeup consisted of what you
- 1:08:00Speaker 6: all time agreed, Yes, yes, absolutely, blue, white, yellow, yeah,
- 1:08:06Speaker 6: whatever color.
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: It's all good. Her makeup consisted of one hundred and
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: ten custom designed prosthesis prostcees sorry, which covered sixty percent
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: of her body and took nine hours to apply each time.
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: That's as at and apparently, of course, because of the
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: way it would affect her body chemistry, she wasn't allowed
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: to drink wine, use like moisturizers and skin creams nor
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: the day before these filmings, so this was like a
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: like eight hour, you know, ordeal every time.
- 1:08:42Speaker 5: Every time.
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: I thought that was nuts because the the prosthetics would
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: fall off if like she had, you know, her skin
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: was a little too greasy or whatever. But I just
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: thought that was nuts. And I heard her contexts were
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: horrible to Yeah, I was just going to get to
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: this one, there was a bunch of contexts.
- 1:09:00Speaker 6: Apparently most of the eye effects were achieved by them
- 1:09:03Speaker 6: wearing the special contact lenses. Uh, and they basically all
- 1:09:07Speaker 6: hated them. I guess she could only wear her mystique
- 1:09:10Speaker 6: lenses for an hour at a time and she only
- 1:09:13Speaker 6: had ten percent vision is what this says when she
- 1:09:16Speaker 6: was which sounds awful. But did you read this part
- 1:09:20Speaker 6: Rob the tyler Maine who was saber too, He kept
- 1:09:24Speaker 6: his lenses in for too long and ended up temporary blind,
- 1:09:28Speaker 6: temporarily blinded for a day.
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: Whoops, terrifying, My god, so scary.
- 1:09:38Speaker 6: And apparently halle Berry had the opaque white ones, but
- 1:09:42Speaker 6: she only wore them once and she was like, now
- 1:09:44Speaker 6: we're doing CGI for this and.
- 1:09:46Speaker 3: Right, yeah, I guess, yeah totally.
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: Which because they look so cool. I remember hearing Jim
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: Carrey talk about how horrible those contexts where when he
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: did Grinch experience, but context rib.
- 1:10:08Speaker 5: Didn't he have like allergic reactions? Yeah, yeah, like imagine
- 1:10:13Speaker 5: imagine being in a chair for nine hours and then
- 1:10:15Speaker 5: it's like too Yeah. She probably got paid some awesome
- 1:10:20Speaker 5: overtime though, you know, shooting one scene two takes. Okay, No,
- 1:10:24Speaker 5: we got a rapper.
- 1:10:26Speaker 6: Had she like really acted before this, because I don't know.
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: She was just kind of a TV host, wasn't she. Yeah, totally,
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: she was really good. I mean it could have been
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: much worse.
- 1:10:41Speaker 4: Uh.
- 1:10:42Speaker 6: Sir Patrick Stewart was the first actor to be cast
- 1:10:44Speaker 6: as a mutant, and in fact, he'd been a fan
- 1:10:46Speaker 6: favorite for the role of Professor X since the nineties.
- 1:10:50Speaker 6: It was really cool and they were right.
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: Uh.
- 1:10:56Speaker 6: Let's see many of the X Men from the comics,
- 1:10:57Speaker 6: who don't have major roles in this film appears minor cares.
- 1:11:00Speaker 6: We've got Jubilee in her yellow jacket and hoop earrings.
- 1:11:05Speaker 6: Shadow Cat also known as Kitty Pride. I think Kitty
- 1:11:08Speaker 6: is the one who went through the walls, right, who
- 1:11:10Speaker 6: phased through, which was cool. Colossus, Iceman, Pyro we already
- 1:11:17Speaker 6: talked about. And then they all have bigger roles in
- 1:11:21Speaker 6: the future films, which is fun. So I thought those
- 1:11:23Speaker 6: were cool.
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: There were three types of wolverine claws that were used, plastic, rubber,
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: and then steel I guess. Wow, and more than seven
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: hundred individual claw blades were used by Hugh Jackman and
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: his four stunt doubles in this movie. Wow. So many
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: it's pretty wild. That is excessive.
- 1:11:45Speaker 6: Yeah, I just thought this was funny when he first
- 1:11:49Speaker 6: took the part. In an interview on MTV, Hugh Jackman
- 1:11:53Speaker 6: said that when he initially took the part, he studied
- 1:11:56Speaker 6: wolves to develop his character because he thought Wolverine just
- 1:12:00Speaker 6: alluded to wolves, and Brian Singer had to later explain
- 1:12:03Speaker 6: to him that a wolverine is actually its own different
- 1:12:06Speaker 6: kind of animal, and he just didn't know because you know,
- 1:12:11Speaker 6: they're not in Australian, right, so they must not have
- 1:12:14Speaker 6: Wolverine's there.
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: So I got everything else understandable. Yeah, they have much
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: worse things. Just wants to kill you either. This was fun.
- 1:12:23Speaker 6: I can't remember if we talked about this, but the
- 1:12:25Speaker 6: mansion used for Xavier School is Billy Madison's mansion from
- 1:12:31Speaker 6: Billy Madison.
- 1:12:31Speaker 5: I didn't know that.
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: I thought that was really fun. This was Ray Park's
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: first speaking role without another actor dubbing his voice, which
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: I thought was cool.
- 1:12:47Speaker 6: Apparently Bran Singer turned this movie down three times because
- 1:12:51Speaker 6: he just was kind of he just wasn't into comic books,
- 1:12:53Speaker 6: I guess, but he ended up reading the X Men
- 1:12:56Speaker 6: comics and then watching the ninety two series and he
- 1:13:00Speaker 6: liked the prejudice discrimination, you know that like how that
- 1:13:06Speaker 6: was housed in that world. And he finally agreed to
- 1:13:09Speaker 6: do the live action movie, which I bet he's happy
- 1:13:11Speaker 6: did ultimately.
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: Yeah. Probably, uh last couple here, or actually the last one.
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: Kiwa Kwan served as an uncredited fight choreographer and he
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: was also a translator for the fight choreographer Core You wow,
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: bit of trivia there, Yeah, because I remember he was.
- 1:13:34Speaker 6: Like, yeah, I did stuff when I wasn't acting, you know,
- 1:13:37Speaker 6: between when he you.
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: Know, wasn't and then blew up again. But I thought
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: that was kind of neat. That is neat. I didn't
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: see that.
- 1:13:44Speaker 6: That one was like buried. I just happened to see it.
- 1:13:47Speaker 6: I was scrolling down. So yeah, I got lucky on that.
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: That's really fun. How about you, Rob? What trivia you got?
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: I just saw a couple actors that were considered for
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: some of the roles. It looks like Brian Singer's first
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: choice to play Wolverine was Russell Crowe, interesting he turned
- 1:14:04Speaker 1: it down. There were other actors considered, and who knows
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: if this is true or not, but these are the
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: people that were considered. Mel Gibson, Aaron Eckhart, Jean Claude
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: Van Dam, Vigo Mortensen, Ed Norton, Bob Hoskins.
- 1:14:20Speaker 3: Wow, that would have.
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: Been fun Keanu Reeves and Gary Sonise one of those
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: is a different movie for sure, Yeah, totally. Yeah, that's interesting.
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: Yeah yeah yeah, but Crow actually suggested Hugh Jackman. Crowe
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: probably could have done it.
- 1:14:43Speaker 5: Yeah, he's really good for he's a big guy though too.
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: Yeah. True, Yeah, that's a good puy. And then for Rogue,
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: it looks like Natalie Portman turned it down. That makes
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: so much sense since Santa Paklin, that's funny. Yep. And
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: then it looks like some other folks were considered Kirsten Dunt,
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: Sara Michelle Geller, Jennifer Love, Hewitt, Alicia Silverstone, Drew Barrymore,
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: Katie Holmes, and Christina Ricci. Wowie would have been funting.
- 1:15:17Speaker 5: Yeah, I think she would have given it a cool,
- 1:15:19Speaker 5: cool go.
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: Yeah, but I'm glad that she never got into that world.
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: Though she never did any superhero stuff, did she.
- 1:15:26Speaker 3: She did a speed racer?
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: Oh yeah, you're right, yeah, yeah, yeah, there's still time that.
- 1:15:36Speaker 5: I love it mine. Yeah, so they considered you already
- 1:15:41Speaker 5: said that, but sixteen different actors before they were able
- 1:15:43Speaker 5: to find Hugh Jackman, and I was listening to h
- 1:15:47Speaker 5: Patrick Stewart's autobiography. I listened to him read it to
- 1:15:51Speaker 5: me and yeah, he was like, he was like, what
- 1:15:55Speaker 5: I got the offer for this he turned it down
- 1:15:57Speaker 5: four times? Wow, because because he literally he kept copying
- 1:16:01Speaker 5: to the fact that he thought it was absolutely ridiculous.
- 1:16:04Speaker 5: He's like, and he's like, you have to think about
- 1:16:06Speaker 5: the fact that I've done how many episodes of Star
- 1:16:08Speaker 5: Trek and any of the ridiculous stuff that we did
- 1:16:10Speaker 5: on Star Treks. I still found this world.
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: Ridiculous.
- 1:16:17Speaker 5: Yeah, but he said he said in his book, he
- 1:16:21Speaker 5: was like I had I had fans for so long
- 1:16:24Speaker 5: basically telling me I needed to play this total pact.
- 1:16:28Speaker 5: I was perfect for this part. I had no idea
- 1:16:30Speaker 5: who his character was. I didn't know what was going on.
- 1:16:33Speaker 5: I showed up on the first day and met Hugh Jackman,
- 1:16:37Speaker 5: and they gave me like three comic books and I
- 1:16:38Speaker 5: just kind of paged through it and I was like, okay, yeah,
- 1:16:42Speaker 5: and then went and did what he did. And his voice,
- 1:16:46Speaker 5: his voice I think was so great. You remember you
- 1:16:49Speaker 5: remember these early Fox Marvel films. Spider Man included where
- 1:16:53Speaker 5: it's it's starting with the cool like intro, right, it's
- 1:16:57Speaker 5: got the weird crap and whatnot. But then your main
- 1:17:00Speaker 5: actor is like starting to talk and has a voiceover.
- 1:17:03Speaker 3: Yeah, that really set.
- 1:17:05Speaker 5: The tone for that film. It was like, oh man,
- 1:17:08Speaker 5: this is this is going to be new, this is
- 1:17:10Speaker 5: going to be good. And they definitely got the guy
- 1:17:13Speaker 5: to be the team leader here that you needed to
- 1:17:15Speaker 5: get as far as.
- 1:17:17Speaker 6: So, I feel like he made it legit too, no doubt,
- 1:17:20Speaker 6: yea to all these actors.
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: Yeah, that's cool, especially after.
- 1:17:24Speaker 5: I mean, she's to hear that they were looking at
- 1:17:26Speaker 5: Alicia Silverstone, especially after because because remember at this time,
- 1:17:30Speaker 5: like Batman had died yea, and Batman and Rock was
- 1:17:33Speaker 5: in ninety seven, and that film was so was just
- 1:17:38Speaker 5: just trashed. Yeah, like everyone they hated it, and so
- 1:17:42Speaker 5: Warner Brothers were like, Okay, well we're shelving Batman, like
- 1:17:44Speaker 5: this franchise is dead. We're not We're not going to
- 1:17:47Speaker 5: mess with this anymore until Nolan comes back, right to.
- 1:17:50Speaker 3: Bring it back.
- 1:17:53Speaker 5: But yeah, to consider like Alicia Silverstone and stuff. But
- 1:17:56Speaker 5: I think that that singer and casting and they did
- 1:17:59Speaker 5: a really good job finding the actors that they were
- 1:18:02Speaker 5: able to get, and I'm glad they got those actors
- 1:18:05Speaker 5: and it would have been weird to see Keanu Reeves
- 1:18:07Speaker 5: as as well.
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: Yeah, that's been interesting. It's hard to picture.
- 1:18:12Speaker 5: It's hard to listen to in your mind, right yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 1:18:15Speaker 5: yeah really.
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: But yeah that's great. Nice? Nice? Will there be a sequel?
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: Judgment Day? So many, so many, too many? Yeah? Huge?
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: All in all oh Man for twenty five years, Patrick
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: Swart Patrick's story. Yeah yeah, yeah yeah.
- 1:18:42Speaker 5: Strangely enough, my favorite X Men film is The Wolverine
- 1:18:45Speaker 5: where none of the other ones are sure sure it's
- 1:18:49Speaker 5: just him?
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:18:50Speaker 3: I thought that was really good.
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, do you guys want to play a game? Hell,
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: you do it. I made up a quotes game. We
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: look at You, And so I'm gonna say a quote
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: from a particular film. When you know the quote, you're
- 1:19:06Speaker 1: gonna ring in with your name, and you're gonna give
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: me three different things. You're gonna give me the name
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: of the movie, the character who said it, and the
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: actor's name playing the character. So you can get three
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: points for each one of these. If you get any
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: of those wrong, the other person can come in and
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: steal there's no negative points for incorrect answers, and all
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: of these films will have something in common. When you
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: know the theme, you can ring in at any time
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: for a point. It cool? All right, here is number one.
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: You know what the difference is between you and me?
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: I make this look good? Bugs, Bukes, it's men in black.
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: It is Will Smith? Yes? And what is Will Smith's
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: character's name? Cute? I think he's got it? J Jay,
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: You got it.
- 1:20:15Speaker 5: Agent j for a half point?
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: Uh, nicely done, nicely done, nicely done. Way to go.
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: All right, let's go to number two. What's the most
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: you ever lost on a coin toss? Oh? Bukes, Bukes,
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: no country for old man?
- 1:20:38Speaker 5: Yes?
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: Yes? And what was his character's name? That's a good question.
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: Uh oh, I know it too. You can just get
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: his last name too, if that's I don't. I can't
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: come up with that.
- 1:20:54Speaker 3: Five four friendly two?
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: Do you know what his name was? Jam?
- 1:21:02Speaker 5: I do not. I only remember the hydraulic weapon that
- 1:21:05Speaker 5: he used so bad.
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: His name was Anton Sig Yeah, yeah, got that. But
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: that's another two points for be all right this one,
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: Michael Fast. Here it goes number three. You can't handle
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: the truth, mah.
- 1:21:32Speaker 5: Man I'm not gonna remember the character.
- 1:21:35Speaker 3: Was he?
- 1:21:35Speaker 5: In general? I don't know.
- 1:21:37Speaker 3: A few good men?
- 1:21:39Speaker 5: Yes, Jack Nicholson, and come on, they say it so
- 1:21:42Speaker 5: many times in the film. Gee, I'm guying here, he's
- 1:21:49Speaker 5: a colonel. He's a colonel, Yes he is, Jess Colonel jessup.
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: Three points.
- 1:21:58Speaker 5: I'll jump on the Tom Cruise films for sure.
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, what is the theme? Do they all have
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: men in the title? They all have men in the title,
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: all right, all over the place. So that might make
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: this easier. Order or these I'm going to be The
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: first four were? The first three were the where the okay?
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: For sure. That's so it's going to get a little,
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: is what I'm saying. Jess up, Colonel Jes. That's nice. Yeah,
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: that was awesome, all right. Number four the rabbits were
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: going to get and I get to tendem.
- 1:22:39Speaker 6: Bukes, bukes of mice and men.
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: Of mice and men. Lenny definitely, that is Lenny laid By.
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: It's the it's the sling blade guy. I got kicked
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: out of a dressing room by him. What is his
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: stupid name? No, that's not him, isn't it him? And okay,
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: never mind?
- 1:23:07Speaker 5: Is it Vince Defornio.
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: No, no, nope, it was John Malkovich.
- 1:23:15Speaker 6: That's what I was thinking. I was thinking, what's his name, Rob?
- 1:23:20Speaker 6: I can't I think of his name.
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: I don't remember. Who kicks you out of a dress?
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: Spring blade guy Billy. I was thinking him for some
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: role at at the at the State Fair, at the
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: State Fair, the same stage, and they were like, you
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: gotta go.
- 1:23:37Speaker 6: They need the whole thing. And I was like, all right,
- 1:23:39Speaker 6: that's I get it. Hurt my feelings, but.
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: You still got of mice and men and Lenny, so
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: nicely done. Thank you. All right, here's number five here
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: it is. No, I have to do this my way.
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: You tell me what you know and I'll confirm. I'll
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: keep you in the right direction if I can. But
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: that's all. Just follow the money, oh geez, just follow
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: the money is kind of the big line in this
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: where this was the first time that was really used.
- 1:24:20Speaker 6: I'm gonna say, bugs, bugs, Oh no, it's.
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: Not that God, what is it? All the presidents men?
- 1:24:34Speaker 3: Enemy of this dude.
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: I don't know who plays it though, very famous older actor.
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: I've only ever seen that once. Yeah, yeah, Anthony, And
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: do you know who played deep throat? His name is
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: hal hole brook Hold, but I can't even picture his face.
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: Bennet's so many movies. Wow, dude, nicely done. You got.
- 1:25:08Speaker 3: The film podcast?
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: It doesn't always cool? Where are we after five? I
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: have ten? Jm's got three. Everybody's in it, It's all
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: in it. This was kind of an obscure quote from
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: this next movie. I love it, but I always thought
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: it was so ridiculous, So I'm going to say it
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: number six. Sometimes when you win, you really lose, and
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: sometimes when you lose, you really win. And sometimes when
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: you win or lose, you actually tie, and sometimes when
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: you tie, you actually win or lose. Winning or losing
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: is all one organic mechanism from which one extracts the
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: what one needs. God damn it. What is that problem?
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: I know that too? And I had a very little
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: mousey Puerto Rican voice, Puerto Rican voice? Okay, so bugs
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: is it white men can't jump? It's white man can't is?
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: What is her name though? Boy?
- 1:26:18Speaker 3: Uh?
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: Okay, Sophia or something so uh no? And then actress.
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: I really should know her name, but I can't think
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: of it right now. She's so funny that beppep j Max.
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: Do you know who the actor is.
- 1:26:39Speaker 3: And do you remember I do not remember the character's name.
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: Yeah, I would have you kinda on the right track
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: with Sophia, but it's not. It's an Ea at the end.
- 1:26:50Speaker 1: But it's Glory Gloria. That makes sense. Name totally Gloria
- 1:26:59Speaker 1: Clemente say, I can't jump you each got one? There,
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: got it? That's such a good line. Yeah, we'll see
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: how this one goes. Number seven. I've laid more pipe
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: in this town than Wabisha plumbing. Oh man, I swear
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: this before something with men in the title men. Yep,
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: it's in Wabisha. It's in Minnesota. Oh, so it's bugs bugs,
