- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome back to A Peak Inside Gator Football. I'm Allie
- 0:03Speaker 1: Peek and Saturday the Florida Gators and the Georgia Bulldogs
- 0:06Speaker 1: renew one of college football's great rivalries. This time it's
- 0:09Speaker 1: happening in Atlanta and while Georgia is favored, there is
- 0:13Speaker 1: a fascinating chess match developing between two coaches.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Who know each other extremely well.
- 0:19Speaker 1: Florida Offensive Coordinator Buster Faulkner and Georgia Defensive Coordinator Glenn
- 0:22Speaker 1: Schumann Joining me today is someone who has spent a
- 0:26Speaker 1: tremendous amount of time breaking down both sides of this
- 0:29Speaker 1: matchup on film, Brooks Austin. You guys know him as
- 0:32Speaker 1: the film guy. Brooks, appreciate you joining me today.
- 0:36Speaker 3: No doubt. I'm excited for this one. I'll be in attendance.
- 0:40Speaker 3: First time watching Florida in person all year long, and
- 0:44Speaker 3: I'm excited for this one. I'll be on the sidelines,
- 0:46Speaker 3: so it should be a good one.
- 0:48Speaker 2: I'm excited too.
- 0:49Speaker 1: I will be watching at home, taking five children trick-or-treating
- 0:52Speaker 1: and trying to watch the game at the same time.
- 0:53Speaker 2: But I'm excited for it.
- 0:56Speaker 1: I really enjoyed your recent breakdown of Buster Faulkner's previous
- 1:00Speaker 1: matchups against Georgia. And I think something that really stood
- 1:03Speaker 1: out to me was that you clearly have a ton
- 1:05Speaker 1: of respect for what he does schematically.
- 1:08Speaker 2: So I'll start here.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Does Buster Faulkner give Florida a legitimate advantage in this
- 1:13Speaker 1: game that maybe isn't reflected in the point spread?
- 1:17Speaker 3: There's an advantage is tough to say, but will you have,
- 1:22Speaker 3: do you feel confident going into this because you have
- 1:24Speaker 3: a familiarity with your opponent? 100%. This is not a
- 1:28Speaker 3: guy that just like spent time at Georgia. He spent
- 1:31Speaker 3: time as a quality control analyst over there at Georgia
- 1:35Speaker 3: and for years understood like, okay, well, this is what
- 1:39Speaker 3: they do. This is how they do it. This is
- 1:41Speaker 3: how this defensive brainstem, this is how they see football.
- 1:45Speaker 3: All that being said, Will Muschamp was also on that
- 1:48Speaker 3: defensive staff, and I just got done watching the first,
- 1:50Speaker 3: I don't know, 50 clips of that Texas matchup. I
- 1:53Speaker 3: don't think there's been a defensive coordinator prepared for Buster
- 1:56Speaker 3: better than Muschamp was from an alignment standpoint. He made
- 1:59Speaker 3: him in the second half really like basically chop up
- 2:02Speaker 3: the entire game plan and start from anew at half. Now,
- 2:06Speaker 3: to Buster's credit, he did exactly that, found the answers
- 2:10Speaker 3: to what they were doing to him, and ended up
- 2:12Speaker 3: putting up enough points to win the football game. But
- 2:14Speaker 3: there's a ton of familiarity here. Now, what I have
- 2:17Speaker 3: a tremendous amount of respect for Buster is what I
- 2:19Speaker 3: just alluded to. He understands, A, what the defense is doing.
- 2:23Speaker 3: But B, how to put that into conflict and put
- 2:25Speaker 3: it into conflict right now. All that being said, in
- 2:28Speaker 3: order for him to do that, he's still got to
- 2:30Speaker 3: be in third and manageable situations anytime. And that's every offense.
- 2:34Speaker 3: But it's really an offense that has young quarterback play.
- 2:37Speaker 3: Or when he was at Georgia Tech, an offense that
- 2:40Speaker 3: had a quarterback deficiency from a throwing standpoint. Like say
- 2:44Speaker 3: what you want about Haynes King, he's just not the
- 2:45Speaker 3: best pure passer in the world. So they had to
- 2:48Speaker 3: be in third and five or better offensively. And right
- 2:52Speaker 3: now with the way Florida's quarterback situation is, I would
- 2:55Speaker 3: agree with that same sentiment being applied here. We've got
- 2:58Speaker 3: to do everything we can on first and second down
- 3:01Speaker 3: to not only be explosive, but also make sure we're
- 3:04Speaker 3: putting ourselves in manageable counts on third down in this
- 3:08Speaker 3: football game if I'm Buster.
- 3:10Speaker 1: In your breakdown, you showed how Georgia kind of adapted
- 3:14Speaker 1: from 2023 into 2025.
- 3:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Particularly how they defended that quarterback run game that you
- 3:20Speaker 1: just talked about and that they shifted between different coverages.
- 3:23Speaker 1: And we saw Schumann have more success against Faulkner last year.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Do you think that that's an evolution and now he's
- 3:30Speaker 1: kind of figured out how to defend Buster Faulkner? Or
- 3:33Speaker 1: was that more about Georgia Tech getting beat physically up front?
- 3:37Speaker 3: Yeah, I was going to say a couple of it. Like,
- 3:40Speaker 3: I'll just put it this way. I think the world
- 3:42Speaker 3: of college football has defensively has gotten much better at
- 3:44Speaker 3: fitting quarterback counter read. They've certainly got better at fitting
- 3:48Speaker 3: counter in general because more and more teams are running this.
- 3:52Speaker 3: Four or five years ago, everybody was an inside zone,
- 3:54Speaker 3: wide zone football team. And nowadays you look up and
- 3:56Speaker 3: almost everybody's running some form of counter. The add-on to
- 4:00Speaker 3: that is to bring jet motion and then do it
- 4:03Speaker 3: with our quarterback where we're running counter off of that
- 4:05Speaker 3: jet action read. That's why we call it quarterback counter read.
- 4:08Speaker 3: So I think the world of defensive football has gotten
- 4:11Speaker 3: much better at fitting this. And certainly Georgia's defensive line
- 4:16Speaker 3: got much better from 23 to 25. In 2023, Krista
- 4:21Speaker 3: Miller is a very young football player. By 2025, he
- 4:24Speaker 3: was a late second-round draft pick, right? In 2023, Elijah
- 4:30Speaker 3: Griffin was a junior in high school. By 2025, he
- 4:33Speaker 3: was one of the best freshman defensive linemen we had
- 4:35Speaker 3: in college football last year. So certainly, Georgia's defensive line
- 4:39Speaker 3: had gotten better. C.J. Allen was a true freshman in 2023,
- 4:41Speaker 3: playing a lot of snaps. Raylon Wilson was still a
- 4:44Speaker 3: young football player. by 2025, those guys had played, you know,
- 4:48Speaker 3: 30 some odd games of college football. So yes, Georgia
- 4:52Speaker 3: had gotten better in the box, but I also think
- 4:55Speaker 3: the defensive structures of football have gotten much better at
- 4:58Speaker 3: fitting these counter aspects. So it's why I think you've
- 5:02Speaker 3: seen Buster rely a little bit more on stretch and
- 5:06Speaker 3: do things like that and get into more of a,
- 5:08Speaker 3: of a stretch play action rollout type of offensive system.
- 5:12Speaker 3: But even that I'm worried now has a I just
- 5:16Speaker 3: tweeted out a video of Texas linebackers. Like every time
- 5:21Speaker 3: they were in pistol with the ball on the near hash,
- 5:24Speaker 3: Justin Cryer, the linebacker from Texas is turning around and
- 5:27Speaker 3: he's pantomiming.
- 5:28Speaker 2: I actually saw that live.
- 5:30Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah. Those things worry me, but I was also
- 5:34Speaker 3: tipped off to that when Eli Drinkowitz gives you a
- 5:36Speaker 3: thumping and then post games like, yeah, I mean the more,
- 5:40Speaker 3: the more tape they put on, the more tendencies they have,
- 5:42Speaker 3: the more things that we expect are coming. Those things
- 5:45Speaker 3: scare me. We have to buck those trends. We have
- 5:49Speaker 3: to do some self-scouting, and we have to get away
- 5:52Speaker 3: from those things that defenses are tipped off on.
- 5:56Speaker 1: So were those things that were also tendencies of his
- 5:59Speaker 1: Georgia Tech offense that we either, A, didn't pick up on,
- 6:02Speaker 1: or B, do you think maybe overlooked because it was
- 6:06Speaker 1: Georgia Tech as opposed to Florida?
- 6:10Speaker 3: Don't want to be demeaning to Georgia Tech, but certainly not.
- 6:14Speaker 3: I mean, Georgia Tech was never maybe possibly not really
- 6:19Speaker 3: compared to 2019 LSU, but that never happened with those guys.
- 6:23Speaker 3: You know what I mean? So you were a bit
- 6:26Speaker 3: more of a threat to the world of college football.
- 6:29Speaker 3: You were certainly more of a threat to better defenses
- 6:33Speaker 3: that have to play you and have you on the schedule.
- 6:36Speaker 3: And I don't think I've ever seen Georgia players, if
- 6:41Speaker 3: they knew– The tip, I don't think I've ever seen
- 6:44Speaker 3: them on tape show that they knew the tip. They
- 6:46Speaker 3: just reacted. And that would be the only team that
- 6:50Speaker 3: I know year over year faced them every year other
- 6:53Speaker 3: than Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh boxed them up pretty good a couple
- 6:57Speaker 3: years ago. NC State got them pretty good a couple
- 6:59Speaker 3: years ago. There are certain ACC teams that saw Buster
- 7:03Speaker 3: time and time again. But again, I didn't see anything
- 7:07Speaker 3: as absolutely, oh my God, he knows what's about to
- 7:10Speaker 3: happen again. As I've seen on, on Texas tape and,
- 7:13Speaker 3: and some of these coaches like you, I drink with
- 7:15Speaker 3: post game. I haven't seen any of that yet.
- 7:18Speaker 1: So, you know, we talk about offensive tendencies. Let's talk
- 7:21Speaker 1: about defensive tendencies. If you're Buster and I know this
- 7:23Speaker 1: Georgia defense is, is really good, but is there something
- 7:27Speaker 1: that he's seen on film from Georgia that if you're Buster,
- 7:30Speaker 1: you're wanting to attack? This video is brought to you
- 7:33Speaker 1: by PrizePix, who just launched PrizePix Packs, real football, basketball,

- 8:02Speaker 1: prize picks for all their support. And now back to Brooks.
- 8:06Speaker 3: You know, Keith Niebuhr actually asked me this earlier in
- 8:08Speaker 3: the week, and I basically told him, like, Buster seems
- 8:12Speaker 3: to attack individual matchups against Georgia in the three previous matchups. Like,
- 8:16Speaker 3: it's very clear if you sit there and watch Georgia
- 8:18Speaker 3: Tech football against Georgia the last three years, he was, like,
- 8:22Speaker 3: circling one football player on critical downs and trying to
- 8:25Speaker 3: hit explosives, right? In 2023, I felt like it was
- 8:28Speaker 3: Tykee Smith In 2024, I felt like it was Dan Jackson.
- 8:34Speaker 3: And then in 2025, they never really got an opportunity
- 8:37Speaker 3: to hunt. They were constantly in tough situations, whether it
- 8:41Speaker 3: be due to penalties or due to TFLs or due
- 8:43Speaker 3: to sacks. They just weren't able to get into these
- 8:46Speaker 3: counts to be able to be aggressive. And in this
- 8:50Speaker 3: football season, the only guy in the defensive backfield that
- 8:54Speaker 3: I would look at and I would say from Georgia,
- 8:56Speaker 3: that's obviously the guy we need to go after. It's
- 8:58Speaker 3: Jamello Jones. Um, number eight, the corner, I would, I
- 9:02Speaker 3: would say that would be the guy that I'd be
- 9:04Speaker 3: going after. Um, I don't think I would hunt after
- 9:07Speaker 3: Ellis Robinson. He's bound to make some miraculous play. Um,
- 9:11Speaker 3: I KJ Barnes, Khalil Barnes has been really good. Most
- 9:15Speaker 3: of the year, I would argue he had his worst
- 9:17Speaker 3: performance against Auburn, but that was from a tackling perspective. Um,
- 9:21Speaker 3: and I don't know if you guys have anybody that
- 9:23Speaker 3: is like Byron Brown. Now you do have a Jane ball.
- 9:27Speaker 3: And that's great. I would get him the rock, and
- 9:29Speaker 3: that's obvious. Everybody knows that. You don't have to be
- 9:32Speaker 3: a ball knower to know that 13's got to get
- 9:34Speaker 3: loose for Florida to win this football game. But you
- 9:37Speaker 3: could possibly get on top of Khalil if Eric Singleton's healthy.
- 9:42Speaker 3: I would use Dallas Wilson to attack DeMello, and then
- 9:45Speaker 3: I would try to get the nickel with speed by
- 9:49Speaker 3: doing that with Eric Singleton, assuming everybody's healthy. And obviously Trammell,
- 9:54Speaker 3: if he's healthy. Or not Trammell, Vernell. If Vernell's healthy,
- 9:57Speaker 3: like that, that adds a whole different.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Type of x factor to this offense And we'll get
- 10:03Speaker 1: to him being back in a minute. I do think
- 10:05Speaker 1: Florida's going to be at full capacity for wide receiver,
- 10:08Speaker 1: which is going to be the first time that's happened
- 10:10Speaker 1: five plays into the FAU game.
- 10:12Speaker 2: But one of the things.
- 10:13Speaker 1: That stood out to me about your preview was that
- 10:15Speaker 1: Florida's offensive line had looked like a potential Joe Moore
- 10:19Speaker 1: award contender earlier.
- 10:20Speaker 3: In the year.
- 10:21Speaker 1: And then things really changed against Missouri and South Carolina.
- 10:24Speaker 1: And I think when we talked over the summer at
- 10:26Speaker 1: SEC Media Days, we spent a lot of time talking
- 10:28Speaker 1: about this offensive line and talking about how kind of
- 10:31Speaker 1: the ceiling of this offense depended on how well they
- 10:33Speaker 1: came together. And you mentioned in your preview wanting to
- 10:36Speaker 1: figure out what was behind the drop-off. And, you know,
- 10:41Speaker 1: do you think the competition's figured out how to defend
- 10:44Speaker 1: Florida's run game? Or did something fundamentally change with the
- 10:48Speaker 1: offensive line?
- 10:50Speaker 3: I wouldn't say there was fundamental changes. I would say
- 10:53Speaker 3: level of competition has certainly changed. Like, it's just the
- 10:57Speaker 3: reality of the situation is y'all played really good defenses
- 10:59Speaker 3: as of late, too. Missouri, if anybody knows how to
- 11:03Speaker 3: stop the stretch run game, it's Eli Drinkowitz. Reason being,
- 11:06Speaker 3: they've ran it better than anybody else in this conference
- 11:09Speaker 3: for four or five years. He knew what was going
- 11:12Speaker 3: on there. Texas is just really freaking good. I know
- 11:17Speaker 3: that's breaking news, but they're just a great defense.
- 11:20Speaker 2: The Gators actually did better against them.
- 11:24Speaker 3: They did. I think a lot of that had to
- 11:26Speaker 3: do with finding new ways to run the football. I'm
- 11:29Speaker 3: going to show some of that tomorrow. I just, like
- 11:32Speaker 3: I said, just got done watching the first half of
- 11:33Speaker 3: that football game, and we're going to be breaking that
- 11:36Speaker 3: down on our channel tomorrow morning. But just newer run schemes,
- 11:40Speaker 3: like you're still bad at running stretch. They still got
- 11:43Speaker 3: the face off of that. So the 88 yards from
- 11:46Speaker 3: ball had to be found somewhere else. I'll find them.
- 11:49Speaker 3: I'll figure out where they were. And I think it
- 11:52Speaker 3: was a lot, like I said, of newer run schemes.
- 11:54Speaker 3: Like there's one where it looks like they're, They've inverted
- 11:57Speaker 3: the responsibilities of read option. It looks like the quarterback's
- 12:00Speaker 3: actually going to be running a zone to the boundary,
- 12:03Speaker 3: and they're going to let the running back be like
- 12:05Speaker 3: what would be a read option quarterback keep. It's funny.
- 12:08Speaker 3: He's doing different things because he's got to now to
- 12:13Speaker 3: establish the run and get back to being able to
- 12:15Speaker 3: run the football. I think the reality is you face
- 12:18Speaker 3: really good defenses, but there has been a level of
- 12:22Speaker 3: you've been whipped. Like I felt like, like Missouri did
- 12:24Speaker 3: some schematical stuff to give you problems, but bottom line,
- 12:28Speaker 3: they brought the fight and punched you in the chin
- 12:31Speaker 3: and you weren't ready. You weren't, you weren't ready for
- 12:33Speaker 3: the punch and you definitely did not punch back. Um,
- 12:36Speaker 3: so I think there's a, there's some realities there as well.
- 12:39Speaker 3: It's like, we've got to match the energy. Which I
- 12:43Speaker 3: think they got right.
- 12:44Speaker 1: Last week, but just didn't get right the weeks before.
- 12:48Speaker 1: So fixing it, moving forward, doing what you can do.
- 12:51Speaker 1: I mean, obviously there's some pieces you're going to have
- 12:53Speaker 1: to get into the portal or you're going to have
- 12:54Speaker 1: to develop from high school.
- 12:55Speaker 2: There's not a quick fix there.
- 12:57Speaker 1: But is there a way to win some individual matchups
- 13:01Speaker 1: or like scheme slightly differently to put a bandaid on
- 13:05Speaker 1: it through the rest of the year? Yeah.
- 13:07Speaker 3: I mean, I would go the route of like, give
- 13:11Speaker 3: them a variety of fits. Basically what I'm alluding to,
- 13:14Speaker 3: I think I'm going to find in the second half
- 13:15Speaker 3: of that Texas game to find running success. Like I
- 13:18Speaker 3: would imagine y'all just threw the kitchen sink at them.
- 13:21Speaker 3: And if that's the case, instead of being like a
- 13:24Speaker 3: like we're going to run stretch and we're going to
- 13:25Speaker 3: run counter. Well, we're going to give them five different
- 13:28Speaker 3: looks on a 12 play drive. And now they've got
- 13:30Speaker 3: to fit all five correctly. And if they don't, we're
- 13:33Speaker 3: going to spit one that that would be the approach
- 13:37Speaker 3: that I would take. Like if we're not good enough
- 13:39Speaker 3: to physically go out and just beat people man to man.
- 13:42Speaker 3: then we need to be a little bit more diverse
- 13:45Speaker 3: in our run schemes. And I think that's the thing
- 13:48Speaker 3: that Buster is known for. When I study him, when
- 13:50Speaker 3: I talk to people in the football world about like,
- 13:53Speaker 3: what do you connote with Buster? And the number one
- 13:55Speaker 3: word I hear the most is volume. Like the amount
- 13:58Speaker 3: of things that we're going to give you, right? The
- 14:00Speaker 3: amount of things that we're going to have to prepare for,
- 14:02Speaker 3: the amount of things that we're going to have to fit.
- 14:04Speaker 3: Because that's what stopping runs are. It's making sure we
- 14:07Speaker 3: have a body in all the gaps. We have to
- 14:09Speaker 3: fit it properly. and the more and more volume we
- 14:13Speaker 3: throw at defenses, the more there's a likelihood that they
- 14:15Speaker 3: will misfit a run. So that would be my immediate answer,
- 14:19Speaker 3: but that's a lot easier said than done because then
- 14:22Speaker 3: we become like the old master of none thing where
- 14:25Speaker 3: we're not really good at anything, but we're doing a
- 14:27Speaker 3: lot of it, and we're doing a lot of it poorly.
- 14:30Speaker 3: That's not necessarily a great recipe for success, but I
- 14:34Speaker 3: would go the volume route because Jaden is that individually excellent.
- 14:38Speaker 3: Even if we don't block it up perfectly and we
- 14:42Speaker 3: let somebody loose, it's okay. 13 is going to take
- 14:44Speaker 3: care of us. What we can't do is have five
- 14:46Speaker 3: guys get put in the backfield.
- 14:49Speaker 1: Well, and, you know, Jaden Baugh is kind of where
- 14:50Speaker 1: I want to go next on this. Against Georgia's front,
- 14:54Speaker 1: is Florida capable of consistently running the football? I mean,
- 14:58Speaker 1: I look at his game against Texas and Quietly, almost
- 15:03Speaker 1: 100 yards. Nothing that was so overly impressive.
- 15:05Speaker 2: No explosives, truly.
- 15:07Speaker 1: Nothing that stood out in the way that he stood
- 15:10Speaker 1: out in some of his previous games. But it is
- 15:12Speaker 1: what allowed the offense to move the chains and to
- 15:16Speaker 1: put points on the board. Do you have to manufacture
- 15:21Speaker 1: those rushing yards in unconventional ways?
- 15:24Speaker 2: What do you do with Ba against Georgia?
- 15:27Speaker 3: I'll say this. Georgia's a really good defense. To me,
- 15:31Speaker 3: they're a top five, top ten defense in the sport
- 15:33Speaker 3: right now. But it's not like they're the 85 bears
- 15:35Speaker 3: in the run department exactly at the moment. I'm not
- 15:39Speaker 3: a box score guy, but look at the box scores.
- 15:41Speaker 3: They've given up over 100 yards rushing four out of
- 15:43Speaker 3: their eight games this year. It's not like they're going
- 15:46Speaker 3: out there and holding everybody. Allie, there was a stretch
- 15:49Speaker 3: of Georgia football. where they went 24 games in a
- 15:53Speaker 3: row without allowing 100 yards, not to a single rusher,
- 15:56Speaker 3: to a team. Wow. From late 2018 when Jordan Davis
- 16:01Speaker 3: got implemented at the nose tackle position all the way
- 16:03Speaker 3: until he left, they did not allow 100 yards to
- 16:07Speaker 3: a single football team. They're not that anymore, but they
- 16:12Speaker 3: are still really tough to down-to-down beat. That being said,
- 16:16Speaker 3: Alabama creased them. Once or twice, Treshawn Brown got loose
- 16:19Speaker 3: for a 58-yarder. I think it was a busted assignment,
- 16:21Speaker 3: but I'm not in the room. But let's say Alabama
- 16:25Speaker 3: got him once with a 58-yard explosive. Byron Brown is
- 16:28Speaker 3: individually excellent. That's what I think that is. I think
- 16:31Speaker 3: Byron Brown, every once in a while, well, four out
- 16:35Speaker 3: of his five SEC games this year, he's rushed for
- 16:37Speaker 3: over 100 yards. He's getting everybody. So there's that. Western
- 16:42Speaker 3: Kentucky got him, but I think Western Kentucky was just
- 16:44Speaker 3: trying to run the ball. because they were trying to
- 16:47Speaker 3: get the hell out of there and still gave up
- 16:49Speaker 3: 70 points. So there has been some success on the
- 16:53Speaker 3: ground so far this year. So yeah, there is a
- 16:56Speaker 3: recipe where we look up and Florida's got, they don't
- 16:59Speaker 3: need to rush for 200, but if they get 140
- 17:02Speaker 3: yards on the ground, they've now created balance offensively. It's
- 17:06Speaker 3: also the reason why, and I think Philo is the
- 17:09Speaker 3: much better thrower of the football. I think he elevates
- 17:12Speaker 3: the offense from a play action passing standpoint. He's much
- 17:15Speaker 3: better in the pocket under pressure. But from a variety
- 17:19Speaker 3: of run game that we talked about earlier, the answer
- 17:22Speaker 3: is undoubtedly Trammell. He provides a little bit more of
- 17:26Speaker 3: an explosive metric there and it opens more doors for
- 17:31Speaker 3: Buster to get a little bit more creative in his
- 17:33Speaker 3: run packages than Philo does. Philo is a north and
- 17:36Speaker 3: south runner. He is a three yards and cloud of
- 17:39Speaker 3: dust runner. That's not exactly going to work. against a
- 17:43Speaker 3: Georgia defense that that's what they want you to do.
- 17:46Speaker 3: Georgia wants you, Georgia dares you to go 18 plays
- 17:49Speaker 3: on drives. It's like, you're going to inevitably mess up
- 17:52Speaker 3: or we're going to beat you at some point. That's
- 17:55Speaker 3: been their defensive MO since day one under Kirby Smart.
- 17:59Speaker 3: And we're a decade into this.
- 18:01Speaker 1: This is a really interesting quarterback conversation, I think. And
- 18:05Speaker 1: Florida fan base has been having it like ad nauseum on.
- 18:08Speaker 2: Social media this week.
- 18:09Speaker 1: And I think it it appears that the fan base
- 18:11Speaker 1: does kind of side with you there. They favor Trammell Jones.
- 18:15Speaker 1: And I don't know if that's because they actually think
- 18:17Speaker 1: he's the better matchup or if they have the what-have-you-done-for-me-lately
- 18:21Speaker 1: syndrome where they see 1-0 against Texas. And I do
- 18:24Speaker 1: think it's important to note that Philo went 4-0 in
- 18:26Speaker 1: his first four. But one of the things we've seen suggested,
- 18:30Speaker 1: Steve Spurrier is actually who suggested it first, but could
- 18:33Speaker 1: a two-quarterback approach actually– create problems for Georgia's defense or
- 18:37Speaker 1: do you think that it's a bigger risk to disrupting
- 18:40Speaker 1: Florida's offensive rhythm and that these guys maybe have too
- 18:44Speaker 1: similar of a skill set to to rotate them I've I've.
- 18:49Speaker 3: Never been a look Steve Spurrier has forgotten more football
- 18:52Speaker 3: than I'll ever even venture to learn in my life
- 18:55Speaker 3: so but I personally have never been a fan of
- 18:58Speaker 3: the two quarterback system I've always believed that if you're
- 19:00Speaker 3: playing two quarterbacks, you have no quarterback.
- 19:03Speaker 2: Which he's also said at points in his career too.
- 19:06Speaker 3: Yeah, so that's always been my adage on that. And
- 19:10Speaker 3: having been a player myself, the idea of working myself
- 19:14Speaker 3: into a flow of the football game is impossible, especially
- 19:17Speaker 3: if I'm a quarterback. It's one thing if I'm a
- 19:19Speaker 3: center or an offensive tackle and I'm in every other drive.
- 19:23Speaker 3: I'm a quarterback and it's just like, well, he's had
- 19:25Speaker 3: two good drives in a row, so he's going to
- 19:27Speaker 3: get a third one. But if he sucks on the
- 19:29Speaker 3: third one, don't worry, you're coming back in like that.
- 19:31Speaker 3: That bothers me. I would I would have a problem
- 19:34Speaker 3: getting into a flow. But from are they going to
- 19:37Speaker 3: be prepared? Is it one more thing you have to
- 19:39Speaker 3: throw into them? I think the the idea that you
- 19:42Speaker 3: have a name to starter and that every time John
- 19:45Speaker 3: gets in front of a microphone, he's like, well, they're
- 19:46Speaker 3: both hurt and they're both going to play. But we're
- 19:48Speaker 3: not going to play two quarterbacks. but we might have
- 19:50Speaker 3: to play them both I think that alone has already
- 19:54Speaker 3: done its job of making Georgia's defensive staff prepare for
- 19:57Speaker 3: both yeah we've already done the job the job when
- 20:00Speaker 3: we do that in my mind from a football's perspective
- 20:02Speaker 3: is like we just want to soak up like 30
- 20:05Speaker 3: hours of prep for them to make sure that they
- 20:07Speaker 3: have to prepare for the other guy And if we
- 20:10Speaker 3: just get that done, that's a win. We put that
- 20:14Speaker 3: in the win column from a preparation and time management standpoint.
- 20:18Speaker 1: We are probably going to see all of Florida's offensive
- 20:22Speaker 1: weapons healthy and available for the first time since the
- 20:26Speaker 1: first series in FAU.
- 20:28Speaker 2: You have talked about.
- 20:29Speaker 1: The combination of Singleton and Brown and Wilson and how
- 20:32Speaker 1: much Faulkner uses the screen game to create explosive opportunities.
- 20:36Speaker 2: How much does that offense change? when all three of
- 20:39Speaker 2: those guys are available?
- 20:41Speaker 1: And does it create a matchup where they could exploit
- 20:45Speaker 1: something in Georgia's secondary?
- 20:47Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, certainly. Now, look, here's the deal. I
- 20:50Speaker 3: think there are five NFL wide receivers in this football game.
- 20:53Speaker 3: I think Georgia's got two of them, Talon Taylor and
- 20:55Speaker 3: Craig Dangerous. I think you guys got three of them.
- 20:58Speaker 3: So what breaks? What gets, right? The difference is I
- 21:03Speaker 3: think Georgia's got three NFL defensive backs. Ellis Robinson, KJ Bolden,
- 21:09Speaker 3: we'll see if he's fully healthy, and Kahlil Barnes. I
- 21:13Speaker 3: don't know how many pro defensive backs Florida has. It
- 21:16Speaker 3: looks to me performance-wise like they don't have too many.
- 21:19Speaker 3: So something's going to give there. I think the ultimate
- 21:22Speaker 3: thing is we've got to tackle. I think they're going
- 21:25Speaker 3: to get theirs is what I'm saying. Who tackles in
- 21:28Speaker 3: the open field will ultimately probably decide the overall output.
- 21:33Speaker 3: of these wide receivers. There's no doubt. It's one thing
- 21:36Speaker 3: we talked about last night on our preview is just like,
- 21:38Speaker 3: I'm scared to death. I'm scared to death of these
- 21:40Speaker 3: wide receivers on both sides of the football. They're all really,
- 21:43Speaker 3: really freaking good. And this is the first time Georgia's
- 21:45Speaker 3: been in this category in a very long time. I
- 21:49Speaker 3: would say four or five years since they've had, you know,
- 21:52Speaker 3: two really, really good wide receivers.
- 21:56Speaker 1: We talked about you know, the positives and the negatives
- 22:00Speaker 1: to Jones and to Philo. Do you think, because we
- 22:03Speaker 1: were told that the reason that Philo won the starting
- 22:06Speaker 1: job to begin with is in large part due to
- 22:08Speaker 1: having a larger grasp on the offense, is there a
- 22:12Speaker 1: chapter of the playbook that's never been opened because we
- 22:15Speaker 1: haven't had all three top targets and Baugh available, and
- 22:19Speaker 1: that makes you potentially lean Philo? Because if it's understanding
- 22:23Speaker 1: the offense.
- 22:25Speaker 3: No. No. No, I don't think they're going to magically
- 22:30Speaker 3: reinvent the wheel offensively here now that they're healthy. Also
- 22:35Speaker 3: because they were healthy during fall camp where we installed
- 22:37Speaker 3: most of our work.
- 22:38Speaker 2: Sure.
- 22:40Speaker 3: If an offensive playbook is 100 pages long, by the
- 22:45Speaker 3: time spring rolls around, summer installations happen, fall camp happens,
- 22:50Speaker 3: we should have about 90 of those 100 pages ready
- 22:54Speaker 3: to go. They should have been practiced, repped. like understood
- 22:57Speaker 3: we've got full grasp of it the last 10 are
- 23:00Speaker 3: in-season adjustments week-to-week tweaks that we have to like change
- 23:05Speaker 3: pictures of hey maybe we like this match up a
- 23:07Speaker 3: little bit more so here's how we're going to exploit
- 23:09Speaker 3: this hey this is a covered three football team so
- 23:11Speaker 3: we're going to do certain things to to create problems
- 23:14Speaker 3: here the bulk of the work is already done from
- 23:16Speaker 3: a this is what we do standpoint so I don't
- 23:19Speaker 3: think much is going to change other than hopefully for
- 23:22Speaker 3: Florida fans' sake, is the overall output of the offense, right?
- 23:28Speaker 3: Eric has been in and out, and the performance and
- 23:31Speaker 3: the output of him has been, I think, directly relative
- 23:33Speaker 3: to how well he feels. Sure. But I think the offense,
- 23:37Speaker 3: like this offense's inability to get back into third and
- 23:40Speaker 3: four has been directly impacted by Vernell not being there.
- 23:45Speaker 3: By the way, with my football brain, the Vernell-Tramel thing
- 23:48Speaker 3: is throwing me into an absolute corkscrew. Tremel or Vernel
- 23:53Speaker 3: said it again, Vernel's ability to catch the football and
- 23:56Speaker 3: take off right now. Um, and not just go get
- 24:00Speaker 3: seven yards, but maybe take it 70, um, has made
- 24:03Speaker 3: deep when he's healthy, it's made defenses completely changed the pictures. Um,
- 24:08Speaker 3: and that's opened up a lot of other things. So
- 24:11Speaker 3: having him back, I think is the most important thing
- 24:13Speaker 3: here for this offense.
- 24:14Speaker 1: We've talked, you know, at nauseam about Faulkner and Schumann's
- 24:18Speaker 1: relationship and their familiarity with each other. But there is
- 24:22Speaker 1: a lot of familiarity between Mike Bobo and Brad White
- 24:25Speaker 1: as well.
- 24:26Speaker 2: And you mentioned that in your video.
- 24:27Speaker 1: And you mentioned Bobo's ability to attack defenses that struggle
- 24:31Speaker 1: passing off receivers in zone coverage. Knowing what you've seen
- 24:35Speaker 1: from Florida's secondary this year and, you know, what we've
- 24:37Speaker 1: talked about the last few minutes, how do you expect
- 24:39Speaker 1: Bobo to attack the Gators? And is it just absolutely
- 24:42Speaker 1: exploiting that secondary? And what could Brad White do differently
- 24:47Speaker 1: to keep Georgia from finding explosive plays?
- 24:50Speaker 3: I mean, to me, the answer or the Band-Aid for
- 24:55Speaker 3: the back end against Texas was, well, we're just going
- 24:58Speaker 3: to hit the shit out of the quarterback. That's what
- 25:00Speaker 3: we're going to do. And if you watch the, and
- 25:03Speaker 3: we did, if you watch the Florida film or the
- 25:06Speaker 3: Texas film, Texas offense versus Florida's defense, it wasn't like
- 25:10Speaker 3: dudes weren't still running open. The quarterback just wasn't hitting them.
- 25:14Speaker 3: And while the quarterback was getting hit, it made him
- 25:17Speaker 3: very uncomfortable. So you added in a lot of pressures
- 25:21Speaker 3: you got after the quarterback. I don't know if that's
- 25:24Speaker 3: going to be a recipe for success against Georgia. A,
- 25:28Speaker 3: I think they're ninth in the country in sacks allowed.
- 25:30Speaker 3: They've only allowed eight sacks all year. B, Gunner Stockton
- 25:33Speaker 3: gets the ball out of his hands really well. C,
- 25:35Speaker 3: they're a play-action rollout football team just like you are.
- 25:37Speaker 3: So we call it manipulating the launch point. Where the
- 25:40Speaker 3: quarterback is now ain't going to be where he's designed
- 25:43Speaker 3: to throw the football from, so it's not like we
- 25:45Speaker 3: can hone in the pressures on one spot. And C,
- 25:49Speaker 3: I think I'm at C, maybe D, D, Gunnar Stockton
- 25:52Speaker 3: is the lead against the Blitz. I mean, since the
- 25:55Speaker 3: guy's been in the lineup, dating back to even the
- 25:58Speaker 3: Texas matchup in the SEC championship game, the last thing
- 26:00Speaker 3: you want to do to number 14 is Blitz him.
- 26:03Speaker 3: He's way too smart. He's played way too much football
- 26:05Speaker 3: at this point. He understands where the pressures are coming from,
- 26:08Speaker 3: thus understands the defense that you're in and where you're
- 26:10Speaker 3: vulnerable at then. So, yeah, I don't know what Gibbs
- 26:14Speaker 3: there from Florida defensively. I guess just hope you get
- 26:18Speaker 3: some turnovers and hope you can make them one-dimensional, get
- 26:21Speaker 3: them behind the chains, get them in automatic passing downs.
- 26:24Speaker 3: Those are the basic-ass analysis points that we have to
- 26:29Speaker 3: give when we really don't know what the advantage is defensively. Oh, well,
- 26:33Speaker 3: let's shut them down in the run game. Okay, easier
- 26:35Speaker 3: said than done. Let's get them in third and long. Okay,
- 26:38Speaker 3: easier said than done. You know what I'm saying? I
- 26:41Speaker 3: don't know what I would do if I'm Florida's defense
- 26:44Speaker 3: schematically to, quote, unquote, give Georgia problems.
- 26:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:49Speaker 3: And honestly, Allie, I don't think anybody has really given
- 26:52Speaker 3: them problems. Yeah. I mean, if you really look at it,
- 26:55Speaker 3: they've moved the ball up and down the field all
- 26:58Speaker 3: season long. Um, they, they are the number one team
- 27:02Speaker 3: in about, I think nine of 10 critical statistical categories
- 27:06Speaker 3: in this, in this conference offensively, like they have been
- 27:09Speaker 3: phenomenal on the offensive side of the football. The only
- 27:11Speaker 3: thing Auburn did was get three turnovers. Sure.
- 27:14Speaker 1: Well, and I, and that's, that's basically what I'm going
- 27:17Speaker 1: to ask you before you get out of here is,
- 27:18Speaker 1: is the path. And, and speaking of those statistical categories,
- 27:21Speaker 1: that's something I've looked at a lot this week. And
- 27:23Speaker 1: something I did find interesting is that Florida is actually
- 27:26Speaker 1: a tick more effective in the red zone than Georgia is.
- 27:29Speaker 1: but Florida scores more field goals than Georgia does. So
- 27:32Speaker 1: I do think that's maybe part of this, is that
- 27:34Speaker 1: when Florida gets in the red zone, walking away with
- 27:36Speaker 1: seven instead of three.
- 27:38Speaker 2: But what would a Florida upset actually look like?
- 27:40Speaker 1: You have studied both programs extensively, and I don't think
- 27:45Speaker 1: it's likely that Florida wins. But if they walk out
- 27:48Speaker 1: on Saturday night, why?
- 27:50Speaker 2: Why did that happen?
- 27:52Speaker 3: Yeah, turnovers, another inexplicably bad game from Gunnar. Um, that would,
- 27:57Speaker 3: that would be the first thing maybe, uh, obviously getting
- 28:00Speaker 3: Jaden ball loose and having him run and have some
- 28:02Speaker 3: explosives there. Um, Vernel being back, getting some explosives there.
- 28:07Speaker 3: Like the old adage in football was if we win
- 28:10Speaker 3: the rushing battle and we win the turnover margins, we'll
- 28:13Speaker 3: win more football games than everybody else. That is not
- 28:15Speaker 3: the case anymore. Um, the, the new statistic is if
- 28:18Speaker 3: we win the explosives battle, we have a larger chance
- 28:21Speaker 3: to win than any other metric in college football. So
- 28:25Speaker 3: You are still an explosive football team, especially now that
- 28:28Speaker 3: you're going to be back healthy. If you can win
- 28:30Speaker 3: the explosives without giving up too many negatives and maybe
- 28:34Speaker 3: steal a possession or two, we're looking at a fourth
- 28:36Speaker 3: quarter football game. And I will say this, you've been
- 28:39Speaker 3: far more outmatched in this matchup as a Florida fan
- 28:43Speaker 3: in the last five years, and we have only had
- 28:46Speaker 3: a couple of snoozers. Yeah, that's true. From a coaching
- 28:49Speaker 3: and talent standpoint, you have been teeter-tottered quite a bit,
- 28:53Speaker 3: way worse than this matchup. You guys are in a
- 28:56Speaker 3: much better situation than I would say you've been in
- 28:59Speaker 3: the last four years, maybe dating all the way back
- 29:01Speaker 3: to 2020. And it ain't like Georgia's gone in there
- 29:04Speaker 3: and boxed your eyes out for four straight years. It's
- 29:07Speaker 3: a rivalry game. They're going to get up. It's going
- 29:10Speaker 3: to be all right. I'm expecting a fourth quarter football game.
- 29:12Speaker 2: Do you have a score prediction on it?
- 29:15Speaker 3: Yeah, I gave it out last night on our show, 31-24.
- 29:17Speaker 3: I think Georgia's up 31-17 going into the fourth quarter.
- 29:21Speaker 3: And you guys punch a shot and then have the
- 29:23Speaker 3: ball maybe with a chance.
- 29:25Speaker 2: We are pretty close.
- 29:26Speaker 1: Mine was the 30 or 31, 27.
- 29:29Speaker 2: I also picked Georgia, but interesting.
- 29:31Speaker 3: All right.
- 29:31Speaker 1: Well, I appreciate you tell everybody where they can check
- 29:33Speaker 1: out your work. And guys, if you're watching this, you
- 29:35Speaker 1: have to watch both breakdowns that he's done on the
- 29:37Speaker 1: offense and on the matchup.
- 29:38Speaker 2: They're both really, really good.
- 29:40Speaker 3: Yeah, absolutely. At Brooks Austin BA on all social media
- 29:43Speaker 3: and just search the film guy on YouTube. Over 135,000 subscribers.
- 29:47Speaker 3: Very blessed. The goal is to get to 200 as
- 29:50Speaker 3: soon as possible. Don't know when we're going to get there.
- 29:52Speaker 3: We'll get there when we get there. All right.
- 29:54Speaker 2: Well, I appreciate it. Thanks for joining me.
- 29:56Speaker 3: No doubt. Be good, Allie.
