1:27
Speaker 2: a beautiful day in the valley. Warm up with a

1:37
Speaker 2: so many activities going on the area, which we're gonna
1:39
Speaker 2: run all those down for you. Looks like, yeah, maybe
1:41
Speaker 2: a slight chance of rain in the morning after that,
1:42
Speaker 2: looking pretty good. Temperatures in the seventies pretty looking pretty
1:46
Speaker 2: good for Mother's Day as well. You can follow Metro

2:02
Speaker 2: End yard Sale going on in Charleston and Stephen Jenny
2:04
Speaker 2: with v one hundred yards. So Stephen Jenny will join
2:07
Speaker 2: me to talk about that. Plus Sarah Brown, who's a
2:09
Speaker 2: candidate for Board of Education and Putnam County is here.
2:11
Speaker 2: And standing by is Angie Gillenwater from the Gannaal Charleston
2:15
Speaker 2: Humaine Association. With this week's dot Me please pat of
2:17
Speaker 2: the week brought to you by Almost Heaven Interiors. We'll
2:20
Speaker 2: get to that momentarily, but first I want to bring
2:22
Speaker 2: into the show Gnawh County Prosecuting Attorney Debora Rusnick. Good morning,
2:26
Speaker 2: dev and welcome to the show.
2:27
Speaker 4: Good morning, thanks for having me.
2:29
Speaker 2: I want to get right to the announcement you made yesterday,
2:32
Speaker 2: a multi county indictment for the ambulance operator who is
2:37
Speaker 2: alledged to instruck John Lucas last month, leading to his death.
2:39
Speaker 2: Alissa Middleton is her name, charge with voluntary manslaughter, aggravated
2:43
Speaker 2: vehicular homicide, and cleaned the scene of an accident. All
2:46
Speaker 2: charges are felonies. Explain this process, how you got there
2:52
Speaker 2: and how the grand jury got to those indictments.
2:56
Speaker 4: You know, we are presented with a particular case, an
3:01
Speaker 4: exorbitant amount of evidence. We filter through the evidence, we
3:06
Speaker 4: try to determine and this is with any case. I'm
3:09
Speaker 4: speaking generally. I'm not speaking specifically about this case. But
3:13
Speaker 4: we you know, we go through the evidence, we see
3:17
Speaker 4: what charges within the criminal code the facts of the
3:21
Speaker 4: case apply to which ones can I make fit And
3:26
Speaker 4: so as we go through that process, we come up
3:29
Speaker 4: with a list of charges that could potentially be be
3:34
Speaker 4: be charged. And so that's what we did in this case,
3:38
Speaker 4: just like every other, we present the evidence to the
3:42
Speaker 4: grand jury, and in this instance, they reviewed all of
3:45
Speaker 4: that evidence and came back with three felony counts that
3:48
Speaker 4: they chose to charge her with.
3:51
Speaker 2: And there is an arrayment at ten this morning, right,
3:55
Speaker 2: that is correct one of the things. And this is
3:59
Speaker 2: what you said that this was like all of the cases,
4:02
Speaker 2: and you have to try to treat it as such.
4:04
Speaker 2: And I completely understand, but I mean, you know, with
4:06
Speaker 2: all the this case has really really just overtaken Kanawh County.
4:11
Speaker 2: You know, from the time it happened last month, you know,
4:13
Speaker 2: in the factor, in the social media aspect, there's so
4:15
Speaker 2: many people out there wondering why it took so long
4:19
Speaker 2: explain that process and why it did quote unquote take
4:22
Speaker 2: so long.
4:24
Speaker 4: You know, when we have a death investigation, and this
4:27
Speaker 4: this case particularly was slightly different simply because of the again,
4:34
Speaker 4: the magnitude the amount of evidence that the You know,
4:40
Speaker 4: we are still waiting on certain pieces of evidence that
4:44
Speaker 4: we have not been able to obtain yet.
4:47
Speaker 5: Will we get that, yes, sure we will, but all of.
4:50
Speaker 4: These things take time for us to collect. And once
4:55
Speaker 4: an event such as this has occurred, duty is to
5:01
Speaker 4: make sure that I have looked at all of that
5:03
Speaker 4: because I owe a duty not just to the victim
5:07
Speaker 4: and the victims family, but the law imposes on me
5:12
Speaker 4: a duty to ensure that I am protecting the rights
5:16
Speaker 4: of the accused as well, and so I have to
5:19
Speaker 4: do that. I am I'm required by law to make
5:23
Speaker 4: sure that I am going through every piece of evidence
5:26
Speaker 4: and making sure not only that we're doing it, but
5:28
Speaker 4: that we're doing it right now. We're getting it right.
5:33
Speaker 2: For those of us that don't know about the process,
5:37
Speaker 2: the decision to take it straight to the grand jury
5:40
Speaker 2: instead of a more traditional way, can you explain that, Yes, So.
5:45
Speaker 4: Once an event has occurred, and I am advising law
5:49
Speaker 4: enforcement on health proceeeds. And this is with any circumstance.
5:53
Speaker 4: We look at a variety of factors when we're determining
5:58
Speaker 4: whether it is a prob to make an arrest or
6:01
Speaker 4: whether it's more appropriate to present it to a grand jury.
6:05
Speaker 4: In this instance, we felt it more appropriate to present
6:09
Speaker 4: it to a grand jury. The public clearly wanted to
6:12
Speaker 4: be heard, and you know that is the most proper
6:16
Speaker 4: way to do that in this case.
6:18
Speaker 2: Are you allowed at this point or can you speak
6:20
Speaker 2: about the passenger that was in the ambulance about charges
6:24
Speaker 2: being brought there or is that something.
6:28
Speaker 6: Go ahead?
6:29
Speaker 2: I'm sorry, that's okay.
6:30
Speaker 4: That's okay. I think there's a slight delay. I can
6:33
Speaker 4: tell you that in terms of the passenger, as of
6:38
Speaker 4: right now, it does not appear that there will be charges.
6:41
Speaker 4: I do not have any indication of criminal conduct at
6:44
Speaker 4: this time.
6:45
Speaker 2: Right and you're going to be on the talk line
6:48
Speaker 2: with the Wilson Meadows at ten forty five. We're going
6:50
Speaker 2: to continue coverage of the announcement yesterday of the endaments
6:54
Speaker 2: from the grand jury. We'll have that on midday later today.
6:57
Speaker 2: Canna County Prosecuting Prosecutor Deb Brusick. I appreciate you being here.
7:00
Speaker 2: Thanks a lot, thanks for having me, Dave Absolutely let's
7:03
Speaker 2: bring in our adopt me please pet of the week.
7:06
Speaker 2: Our good friend Angie Gillan Want from Gonnaal Charlestey, Maine
7:08
Speaker 2: Associated Association is here. Angie, Good morning, welcome to the.
7:12
Speaker 6: Show, Good morning, happy to be here.
7:14
Speaker 2: I do want to remind you that our pet of
7:16
Speaker 2: the week has brought to about almost heaving and tearious
7:18
Speaker 2: is South Charleston. Let's get right to our animal picture
7:21
Speaker 2: posted Dave alland Radio and Facebook, also the WCCHS network
7:25
Speaker 2: Facebook page and at Dave a seventy on X tell
7:28
Speaker 2: us about Luciale.
7:30
Speaker 5: So Lucille was. She originally came to KHA as like
7:34
Speaker 5: a two month old puppy. She was adopted and her
7:38
Speaker 5: adopter fell on some hard circumstances to where she could
7:43
Speaker 5: no longer keep Lucille and trust me, it was her
7:46
Speaker 5: last option to give her back to us. But because
7:49
Speaker 5: she was adopted and surrendered, we know a lot about
7:51
Speaker 5: how she is and a home. She does great with kids.
7:55
Speaker 5: Her previous adopter said that she loves to play with
7:57
Speaker 5: other dogs, and her previous adopter all said that she
8:01
Speaker 5: is scared of cats. So if you have cats, you
8:05
Speaker 5: know she can live with them. She's just the type
8:07
Speaker 5: to like run away from cats.
8:08
Speaker 2: Well, I know a lot of people that run away
8:10
Speaker 2: from cats, and sometimes I wish I would have run
8:12
Speaker 2: away from cats, to be honest. To be honest with you,
8:15
Speaker 2: that just cracked me up when you sent me that
8:16
Speaker 2: last night, Angie, that you said the dog is. But
8:19
Speaker 2: it's nice to hear that that she can at least
8:21
Speaker 2: live with them, because I think of the ords to
8:23
Speaker 2: me were that she was scared of them, but she
8:25
Speaker 2: could be in a home with them. She just kind
8:28
Speaker 2: of prefers to be away from them. Is that why
8:29
Speaker 2: she kind of like kind of like me with kids,
8:33
Speaker 2: you know, with them, I just want them over there
8:35
Speaker 2: somewhere I'm not around here.
8:37
Speaker 5: Yeah, I would agree with that. Yes, I think like
8:40
Speaker 5: the combative type of cats where they're gonna swat at
8:43
Speaker 5: dogs that come to your room, that is what she's
8:45
Speaker 5: absolutely terrified of. But if your cat is a chow
8:49
Speaker 5: cat that's not going to come out and sat her
8:51
Speaker 5: anything like that, then she she should be fine.
8:54
Speaker 2: Talking with Angie Gillan wanted from the Gage Charleston remain
8:56
Speaker 2: association with lu Seal This Week's about me. Please put
8:59
Speaker 2: her the week in the again. You can take a picture.
9:01
Speaker 2: Take a look at Lucill's picture, Dave Allen Radio or
9:04
Speaker 2: the WHS network Facebook page or at Dave a seventy
9:07
Speaker 2: on X. You guys out and about anywhere this weekend.
9:10
Speaker 5: We are not this weekend, but next week. We will
9:13
Speaker 5: be next Tuesday before I'll get to talk to you
9:16
Speaker 5: everyone again. On Friday, we will be at the downtown
9:20
Speaker 5: location of the Kenall County Public Library in Charleston with
9:23
Speaker 5: a Crazy Cat People party, which is really fun from
9:26
Speaker 5: two to five.
9:28
Speaker 2: What is the Crazy Cat People Party, Angie, I gotta.
9:30
Speaker 5: Know, it's exactly what it sounds like. I'm going to
9:33
Speaker 5: be there with lots of cash.
9:34
Speaker 6: All right in the library in the library.
9:37
Speaker 5: It's always really fun when we are there. This is
9:39
Speaker 5: not the first time we've been down there. So if
9:42
Speaker 5: you have nothing to do between two to five, stop
9:44
Speaker 5: buy and see all of our kiddies that we have.
9:47
Speaker 2: And we had a text somebody send so many activities
9:50
Speaker 2: happening just tomorrow. Alone'd be great if there were some
9:52
Speaker 2: designated areas at each event, since you guys can't be
9:55
Speaker 2: there to drop off donation items for the shelter and
9:58
Speaker 2: for the fix some clinic food, litter, milk, placements, toys, traits,
10:01
Speaker 2: cleaning spoes, blankets and towels and so on and so forth,
10:04
Speaker 2: so maybe we can work on that for the future.
10:06
Speaker 2: How are the numbers looking at the shelter right now?
10:10
Speaker 5: Yesterday? I haven't checked this morning, but yesterday we were
10:14
Speaker 5: right at like four hundred and forty. It seems that
10:18
Speaker 5: kittens and cats are just you know, coming in waves,
10:21
Speaker 5: which is pretty typical for this time of the year,
10:23
Speaker 5: But around four hundred and forty animals right.
10:26
Speaker 3: Now, all right?
10:28
Speaker 2: And what are you in need of?
10:30
Speaker 5: Biggest needs right now are going to be wet food
10:32
Speaker 5: of any brand for either dog, cat, kitten or puppy.
10:36
Speaker 5: And dishwashing liquid any brand will do for that.
10:39
Speaker 2: As well, all right. Angie gillenwater Knaw Charsty main association

10:44
Speaker 2: Appreciate you being here and we'll talk again next week
10:47
Speaker 2: and try to check you out Tuesday at the library.
10:49
Speaker 2: Thanks a lot, absolutely, thank you, all right. Lou Seal
10:53
Speaker 2: is our pet of the week. She was adopted but
10:57
Speaker 2: was returned through no fault of her own, and is
10:59
Speaker 2: a and she said the previous owner did not want
11:01
Speaker 2: to give Lucille up, but unfortunately had to. Lucille appears
11:06
Speaker 2: to be great with other playful dogs and with kids,
11:10
Speaker 2: little skittish around cats. Could probably live in a home
11:14
Speaker 2: with cats, but maybe an idea and better idea not
11:19
Speaker 2: to have the cats, but she can probably hang with them.
11:23
Speaker 2: She is spade and vaccinated and her adoption fee is
11:26
Speaker 2: waived as part of the Bistle Pet Foundation. Folks, so
11:28
Speaker 2: good on them. Go check out the picture of Lucille

14:49
Speaker 2: about these structural issues, mainly wages within the emergency services
14:53
Speaker 2: where a nineteen year old is given the responsibility to
14:56
Speaker 2: be a paramedic and drive an ambulance. I remember when
14:59
Speaker 2: I was nineteen. I had no business being responsible for
15:01
Speaker 2: someone's life or driving an emergency vehicle. And I think
15:04
Speaker 2: no nineteen year old has that mental and emotional emotional capacity.
15:09
Speaker 2: That is according to a texter, so much going on
15:12
Speaker 2: this weekend? Can I add something to that? I mean,
15:16
Speaker 2: I don't know. That's Steve Bishop.
15:17
Speaker 3: By the way, Oh hi, everybody is this show on TV?
15:21
Speaker 2: No?
15:22
Speaker 3: I see cameras in now they don't know. I might
15:24
Speaker 3: as well say hi to.
15:25
Speaker 2: Jennyway, Jenny Murray over, how you doing?
15:28
Speaker 3: All right? Hey, listen, I don't know what that that
15:31
Speaker 3: whole text was about. They're saying, nineteen year old's too
15:35
Speaker 3: young to be.
15:36
Speaker 2: Well, this is going back to the John lucas Ale situation,
15:39
Speaker 2: and we had two younger people. There seems to be
15:42
Speaker 2: a disparage, a little bit of question about the age.
15:46
Speaker 3: All right, maybe I shouldn't go okay, because that's the
15:48
Speaker 3: sensitive issue. And I was just going to tell you
15:50
Speaker 3: what in North Carolina happens. You know, they used to
15:53
Speaker 3: let this is this is a funny story, and that's
15:56
Speaker 3: not a funny story what you were talking about. But
15:58
Speaker 3: in North Carolina used to be able to drive a
16:01
Speaker 3: school bus as a high school student. Really, yes, when
16:06
Speaker 3: I always.
16:06
Speaker 2: Did that in Logan, But that's when somebody stole the bus.
16:08
Speaker 3: When I was in high school. And by the way,
16:11
Speaker 3: this is fifty years I'm out. Graduated in nineteen seventy six,
16:16
Speaker 3: I was going to be a school bus driver. So
16:18
Speaker 3: I took the training, came home and told my father.
16:20
Speaker 3: I said, Hey, I'm going to drive a school bus.
16:22
Speaker 3: And he goes, no, you're not, And I said why not?
16:24
Speaker 3: And he goes, because that's too young. He said, that's
16:27
Speaker 3: too much responsibility. I think the problem They don't do
16:31
Speaker 3: that now they've changed. Yeah, but in the Yeah, in
16:34
Speaker 3: my day, high school students were these school bus drivers.
16:38
Speaker 3: Isn't that kind of scary?
16:39
Speaker 2: I you know, I will say this about and there's
16:42
Speaker 2: a lot of questions about this case, and we'll kind
16:44
Speaker 2: of bring this background. Then we'll talk about the yard sale.
16:47
Speaker 2: Is there are every emergency service crew across this country.
16:52
Speaker 2: Any department will tell you that they are desperate for people.
16:55
Speaker 2: Right now, oh absolute, people aren't going into this anymore.
16:58
Speaker 2: And I don't don't blame them. It's not the kind
17:01
Speaker 2: of job that I could do. You really got to
17:03
Speaker 2: have that and do it passion for it, and I agree,
17:07
Speaker 2: and all this will come out in the case that
17:09
Speaker 2: two were younger people, and I hate to sound ages,
17:11
Speaker 2: but two younger people probably shouldn't have been in that situation. However,
17:17
Speaker 2: some of these and I'm not speaking specifically about these cases,
17:19
Speaker 2: sometimes these departments have to do what they have to do.
17:21
Speaker 2: They don't have people, and we just don't have a
17:24
Speaker 2: lot of people that want to work. That's number one.
17:26
Speaker 2: And number two. I mean, I had a very good
17:29
Speaker 2: friend of mine, former co worker, work part time, first
17:31
Speaker 2: at the radio station and logan who went on to
17:34
Speaker 2: become an EMT, and after having his nose broken I
17:36
Speaker 2: think for the third time, he said, this ain't for me,
17:40
Speaker 2: and he went into teaching it because he has been
17:43
Speaker 2: injured broken ribs broke from you know.
17:47
Speaker 3: That has a story or two or five.
17:49
Speaker 2: Yeah, anyways, so all right, so.
17:51
Speaker 3: I should have asked, what is this in reference to?
17:56
Speaker 2: Before you know, you got another show, and you probably
18:00
Speaker 2: been you know, you haven't been listening to the first
18:01
Speaker 2: part of the show because cutting because you know that
18:04
Speaker 2: that other show.
18:04
Speaker 3: That we were doing the show, I don't know if
18:06
Speaker 3: we were we doing a show this morning, we were
18:08
Speaker 3: doing something.
18:09
Speaker 12: It kind of resembled a show.
18:10
Speaker 2: Was that one on the air. That's what I say
18:13
Speaker 2: about this show. I say, I tell Ryan, this one
18:15
Speaker 2: was good enough to put on the air. We should
18:16
Speaker 2: have put this show on the air, you know. But anyway,
18:19
Speaker 2: all these phone with the domes going on, I'll talk
18:21
Speaker 2: about that a little bit later on. Later on. You
18:23
Speaker 2: got the East End yard Sale and Stephen Jenny's B
18:26
Speaker 2: one hundred the biggest, the best, the biggest and the best.
18:29
Speaker 3: I know that East End yard sale is pretty huge and.
18:32
Speaker 13: Most people are going, Yeah, but you got to travel
18:34
Speaker 13: for the East End yard sale.
18:35
Speaker 12: You just go to one place for ours.
18:37
Speaker 3: Listen to her and it's all this selling.
18:39
Speaker 12: And that place is Laidley Field Parking Lot, right.
18:42
Speaker 2: And it's sold out to vendors. Now, yes, I mean
18:44
Speaker 2: so if you wanted to be a vendor, you waited
18:46
Speaker 2: too late, because you can't be a vendor.
18:48
Speaker 3: But you can still come right Oh, absolutely, yes.
18:51
Speaker 12: We want everyone to come and buy our quality merchandise.
18:56
Speaker 3: It's eight till noon. And we all know people that
18:59
Speaker 3: go to yard sales. If you go to yard sales,
19:01
Speaker 3: that you really ignore the times of when they start
19:04
Speaker 3: when they end, because people will be there helping, trying
19:07
Speaker 3: to help these people that are selling set up their
19:09
Speaker 3: stuff and offering a dime for something they want a
19:12
Speaker 3: dollar for. That'll be happening, and then it want to
19:15
Speaker 3: you know, at noon it ends, but at one o'clock
19:18
Speaker 3: I'll be going like, y'all need to go home at
19:20
Speaker 3: some point, like.
19:21
Speaker 2: You ain't got to go home, but you got to
19:22
Speaker 2: get out of here, you know, right, And if you
19:24
Speaker 2: want to dicker on prices, go take it to parking.
19:27
Speaker 3: I don't know why to be rude, but you know
19:28
Speaker 3: I really got to. I got to go to foone
19:30
Speaker 3: with the dome at some point.
19:31
Speaker 2: Yeah, for that then and rib Fest, you know, tomorrow night.
19:36
Speaker 2: So what do vendors need to know? I mean, I
19:37
Speaker 2: know it's sold up, but what do they need to know?
19:39
Speaker 2: If maybe they're a first time vendor, what did they
19:41
Speaker 2: need to know?
19:41
Speaker 3: Read everything? And I send them to this instructions. I
19:45
Speaker 3: find that to be sometimes not happening, okay, but no,
19:48
Speaker 3: it's it's it's pretty much cut and dry. You know,
19:53
Speaker 3: we started eight, we set up starting at six fifteen.
19:55
Speaker 3: I probably wouldn't have said that. Now people go like,
19:57
Speaker 3: I'm not waiting till eight o'clock I'm going to six fifteen.
20:00
Speaker 3: But we just get started early, get set up, and
20:04
Speaker 3: that's the biggest chaos of the day is the setup procedure.
20:08
Speaker 3: Once that's over with, it's all right.
20:10
Speaker 2: So I remember you telling me when I had you
20:12
Speaker 2: guys on last year about this that.
20:14
Speaker 3: I can't believe we made it back again there.
20:16
Speaker 2: But but there seems to be an issue sometimes. So
20:18
Speaker 2: if people and I know you set them all the information,
20:20
Speaker 2: all right, but explain the setup if they're a vendor.
20:23
Speaker 3: If they're a vendor, well they set up on the
20:26
Speaker 3: in their parking space, which you know we.
20:28
Speaker 12: Will assign them, sign them as they get.
20:30
Speaker 3: There and uh, and then they go for whatever. They
20:33
Speaker 3: sell whatever, as long as it's not illegal. I don't
20:36
Speaker 3: want anything like that or dangerous as in life threatening stuff.
20:40
Speaker 3: Then they can sell pretty much anything.
20:42
Speaker 2: Jenny sells the illegal stuff.
20:45
Speaker 12: Two quality here.
20:47
Speaker 3: See he always has something interesting.
20:48
Speaker 13: I have an Electroluxe vacuum cleaner. It's an older model,
20:51
Speaker 13: but it works like a charm.
20:53
Speaker 3: Get that without the home demonstration, folks, come on.
20:56
Speaker 13: And that includes extra bags for your quality dirt at
20:59
Speaker 13: your own home.
21:00
Speaker 3: Okay.
21:00
Speaker 12: I also have an electric ice cream maker. I'm going
21:03
Speaker 12: to be selling.
21:04
Speaker 2: Okay, So didn't you have that last year?
21:06
Speaker 4: No?
21:06
Speaker 11: I did not.
21:07
Speaker 2: What did you have last year?
21:08
Speaker 13: There's one item that I refused to sell for nothing,
21:11
Speaker 13: and that was my daughter's mountain bike, and I'm grateful
21:13
Speaker 13: she took it home with her the last time.
21:15
Speaker 3: Now that you had something else last year that somebody
21:17
Speaker 3: just had the turkey fry, Yeah, that was it.
21:19
Speaker 2: It was the turkey friar in the box never used turkey,
21:23
Speaker 2: not included turkey.
21:24
Speaker 3: Not Did you lose your mind and buy that? And
21:26
Speaker 3: then yes I did later, I don't think.
21:28
Speaker 12: I'm sure that's never happened to anyone else before.
21:31
Speaker 3: Probably going to set the deck on fire when we
21:33
Speaker 3: try to burn. I'm trying to go to the turkey.
21:35
Speaker 2: You'll have a heck of a story for the rest
21:37
Speaker 2: of you. You will have a story, that's for sure. Uh,
21:39
Speaker 2: don't want that text for you, Steve. Any idea what
21:42
Speaker 2: chick fil a will sell? Just breakfast for launch or
21:44
Speaker 2: treats too?
21:45
Speaker 3: They told me, Uh, this is but Chick fil a
21:47
Speaker 3: is going to be our food vendor tomorrow. The usual
21:50
Speaker 3: crew cannot be there and that's just a local group
21:52
Speaker 3: of people that do it for a charity, but they
21:55
Speaker 3: can't do it tomorrow. So I got Chick fil A.
21:58
Speaker 3: They told me they don't do breakfast, so I don't.
22:01
Speaker 3: I don't know other than Chick fil A chicken sandwiches,
22:04
Speaker 3: I told I suggested, this is just me. I'm not
22:07
Speaker 3: a Chick fil A expert, but I said, you know,
22:09
Speaker 3: those chicken minies are pretty addictive, and it seems like
22:11
Speaker 3: if you can do the chicken sandwiches, you could do
22:13
Speaker 3: the chicken minies. I don't know. Uh, we'll find come
22:18
Speaker 3: over and be surprised tomorrow, like we will.
22:20
Speaker 2: What is the wildest story all the years of the
22:23
Speaker 2: Stephen Jenny V one hundred? Is there one wild?
22:26
Speaker 3: Well, there's one. I'm sure there's many, but the first
22:29
Speaker 3: one that comes to mind. I was talking to her
22:31
Speaker 3: about it again this morning. One morning we showed up
22:34
Speaker 3: back when the yard sale, our V one hundred sale
22:37
Speaker 3: was over in Kanawa City at the Teamsters Union parking lot.
22:40
Speaker 3: We got there to set up and are lots about
22:43
Speaker 3: half that lot's about half well, I think it's about
22:45
Speaker 3: a third the size of the one we use now.
22:48
Speaker 3: And there were somebody, some truck driver pulled an eighteen
22:51
Speaker 3: wheeler onto the parking lot and parked was taking up
22:54
Speaker 3: like we had basically four lanes of parking places. He
22:58
Speaker 3: was taking up a four of the parking lot, which
23:01
Speaker 3: wasn't big enough to start with.
23:02
Speaker 12: We had no idea who he was.
23:03
Speaker 3: He just park it, got out and left and went somewhere.
23:07
Speaker 3: And at some point when we're setting up, he comes
23:10
Speaker 3: back and gets out of a car. I don't know
23:12
Speaker 3: whether he went out for breakfast. I don't know whether
23:14
Speaker 3: he went to rest. We just rotation marks for a while.
23:19
Speaker 2: He went out for something, just went out for something.
23:23
Speaker 3: He took a break for something, came back, didn't say
23:26
Speaker 3: a word, got in his tractor trailer, started up and left. Yeah,
23:31
Speaker 3: and we were like, oh, thank goodness for that. Have
23:33
Speaker 3: there ever been any fights, no, or arguments over not
23:37
Speaker 3: that I'm aware of.
23:38
Speaker 9: No.
23:39
Speaker 3: Come on, by the way, there will be Charleston police
23:42
Speaker 3: protection at the event. Maybe I should say it like this,
23:46
Speaker 3: Charleston police presence at the V one hundred yard sale tomorrow.
23:50
Speaker 13: Ladyfield, you will find treasure, I guarantee you. And I
23:54
Speaker 13: am not a baseball fan, but we used to have
23:56
Speaker 13: someone that worked here who's moved to Cincinnati. Huge sense
23:59
Speaker 13: of reds fan, and I knew this, and I'm out
24:02
Speaker 13: perusing the sale and I find this awesome piece of
24:07
Speaker 13: memorabilia of Cincinnati Reds players and I think Pete Rohase
24:10
Speaker 13: was included in it.
24:11
Speaker 6: Wow.
24:12
Speaker 13: And I'm like, I'm going to buy that for him,
24:14
Speaker 13: and I'm going to mail it to him. And he
24:17
Speaker 13: said when he got that package in the mail and
24:20
Speaker 13: opened it and I'd written him a little note, he cried.
24:23
Speaker 12: He actually cried.
24:24
Speaker 13: He's like, this is my most treasured item in my
24:27
Speaker 13: entire Reds collection.
24:29
Speaker 6: Wow.
24:29
Speaker 3: So you want to hear my Coro Peete Roase story.
24:32
Speaker 12: Sure, Well, not that I've not heard it a million times.
24:35
Speaker 12: Go ahead, tell us.
24:35
Speaker 3: What you might not know it. I mean, I was
24:38
Speaker 3: telling Dave about Marty brenhaman and that's the reason I'm
24:40
Speaker 3: in the broadcasting business because Marty Breneman used to broadcast
24:44
Speaker 3: American Legion baseball in my hometown in North Carolina, and I,
24:48
Speaker 3: as a young person, was just captivated by his descriptions
24:53
Speaker 3: and all. And then Marty went on to the big
24:55
Speaker 3: time and I'm here, I am in the big time.
24:58
Speaker 3: And I'm not being I'm not being sir castic. It's
25:01
Speaker 3: it's been great to do that. And Marty's one of
25:03
Speaker 3: the big reasons why I met Pete Rose one time
25:06
Speaker 3: at the dealership that was there, Tag Gallion or Team Chevrolet.
25:10
Speaker 3: I think it was Team Chevrolet by by that time,
25:13
Speaker 3: over where the Clay Center is now, So Pete was there.
25:15
Speaker 3: Pete did some stuff for that or that dealership. He's
25:19
Speaker 3: there signing autographs and it's at the end of his
25:21
Speaker 3: little whatever appearance, I guess, and I go in and
25:25
Speaker 3: I say, hey, Pete, you know, and I had a
25:27
Speaker 3: baseball and he signed it and all that sort of stuff,
25:29
Speaker 3: And Pete and I were having a great discussion on
25:31
Speaker 3: baseball until this hot chick.
25:34
Speaker 12: Comes in and then your discussion was I was.
25:38
Speaker 3: I did not even exist. It's like we're talking baseball,
25:42
Speaker 3: and then suddenly she comes through the door and it's like.
25:45
Speaker 12: I'm done with you.
25:46
Speaker 3: You're done with you. No, he didn't even he just what.
25:49
Speaker 2: Was she driving the car in the truck driver story
25:53
Speaker 2: from earlier? Okay, just now, that's not the same person
25:57
Speaker 2: to paxt. Jenny had the cast iron set last year too.
26:02
Speaker 2: It was beautiful. Did they ever sell Oh yeah, oh.
26:05
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
26:06
Speaker 12: That was the price.
26:07
Speaker 3: Wasn't that a Dutch oven or something.
26:09
Speaker 12: It was a collector Dutch oven and it's old boy.
26:12
Speaker 3: Your listeners, how do they know this stuff about us?
26:15
Speaker 12: They come to the same they come to the sound.
26:16
Speaker 2: Oh okay, and you're like me. You know, you've been
26:19
Speaker 2: doing this forever, you know, except you've been doing it
26:22
Speaker 2: a little longer, just a little bit longer.
26:24
Speaker 3: But you know, this is actually fifty years, fifty years
26:27
Speaker 3: for me doing this, and so in this room we
26:30
Speaker 3: have fifty years for me. How many for you?
26:33
Speaker 2: Thirty eight?
26:34
Speaker 3: Okay, and how many for you.
26:35
Speaker 12: Jenny pushing forty?
26:37
Speaker 2: All right, Well, if any of the three of us
26:39
Speaker 2: could do math, that'd be a hell of a number.
26:41
Speaker 7: It's a lot.
26:43
Speaker 12: I'll have some fiesta wear tomorrow.
26:45
Speaker 2: Oh, don't tell my wife is it cobalt blue?
26:47
Speaker 13: Because that's why I only have one cobalt blue And
26:50
Speaker 13: it's a bowl if you want.
26:51
Speaker 3: Jenny makes fun of me because I have one color
26:54
Speaker 3: of fiesta ware, where everybody else usually has like lofty colors.
26:59
Speaker 2: Oh, I will say that and we'll wrap it up.
27:02
Speaker 2: Say this when my first when when the first time
27:04
Speaker 2: my wife ever brought fiesta wear into the house, the
27:07
Speaker 2: first thing I said, was it doesn't match, and she
27:09
Speaker 2: said it's not supposed to match. And I'm like, and
27:12
Speaker 2: I was like, look at it going, it doesn't freaking match. Yeah,
27:17
Speaker 2: And now I'm okay with that. And anytime that we're
27:20
Speaker 2: on seventy nine, you know, going to Morgantown or whatever stop,
27:24
Speaker 2: it will will usually. And last time I was in there,
27:26
Speaker 2: ran into my old buddy Fred Albert from the American
27:29
Speaker 2: formerly of American Federation of Teachers. He was in there too.
27:32
Speaker 2: It's a stop, man, give us the details on the
27:36
Speaker 2: time and whatnot. Tomorrow eight till noon. Laidley Field Parking
27:41
Speaker 2: Lot in Charleston. That's at the corner of Elizabeth and
27:44
Speaker 2: Piedmont Road if you're not familiar, but I would think
27:46
Speaker 2: everybody knows where that is, most everybody.
27:49
Speaker 3: And we'll be there. The only I mean, if it rains.
27:51
Speaker 3: And I don't even want to talk about.
27:52
Speaker 2: This, So there's a Brian Hughes says, there's a very
27:55
Speaker 2: very svery slight.
27:56
Speaker 3: I have to mention that then we we won't have it. However,
27:59
Speaker 3: the East End, your art sale is rain or shine.
28:01
Speaker 2: Yeah, you're not gonna have to worry about rain. I
28:03
Speaker 2: don't think tomorrow.
28:04
Speaker 3: Dave I hope you're right.
28:05
Speaker 2: Steve and Jenny appreciate you both being here.
28:07
Speaker 12: Thank you, Thank you.
28:08
Speaker 3: David, I appreciate that.
28:09
Speaker 8: Well.

30:44
Speaker 2: the primary election. Of course, early voting today and tomorrow
30:48
Speaker 2: and primary election days Tuesday. Polls open six thirty am
30:51
Speaker 2: seven to thirty pm. Sarah Brown is a candidate for
30:54
Speaker 2: Board of Education at Putnam County and she joins us
30:56
Speaker 2: this morning and the Jay Construction Studios. Good morning, welcome
30:59
Speaker 2: to the show, Give morning, Thank you for having me.
31:01
Speaker 2: Tell us about you. Give us your bio.
31:03
Speaker 17: Well, I'm a tense generation West Virginian and I believe
31:06
Speaker 17: that's truly shaped who I am as a person, and
31:10
Speaker 17: I am someone who's deeply dedicated to community. I've been
31:14
Speaker 17: shaped by my faith and many life experiences I probably
31:17
Speaker 17: should not have survived, and because of that, I feel
31:22
Speaker 17: as though my purpose is in serving my community, which
31:25
Speaker 17: doesn't necessarily mean politics. I've been doing community service for
31:29
Speaker 17: years and I ultimately feel as though I need to
31:34
Speaker 17: work to be someone I needed in those times that
31:37
Speaker 17: I may have not nearly survived. And so it's with
31:40
Speaker 17: that that I approach this campaign. But it's also the
31:44
Speaker 17: reason that I approach community service the way that I do.
31:49
Speaker 17: And I'm someone who believes in radical kindness but also
31:51
Speaker 17: flipping tables when necessary. So that's roughly on the base
31:56
Speaker 17: level who I am, roles that I have in my life.
31:58
Speaker 17: I've been married to my house has been Ryan for
32:00
Speaker 17: in early twenty one years, and he's a teacher Hurrican
32:02
Speaker 17: High School and he's the assistant baseball coach. We have
32:04
Speaker 17: two children. Our daughter Brook is eighteen, she's graduating this year.
32:07
Speaker 17: In our son looks thirteen. I am the director of
32:11
Speaker 17: institutional research at an institution in Logan, and I have
32:15
Speaker 17: worked in education for seventeen plus years.
32:19
Speaker 2: I am a policy wonk and a policy wonk.
32:22
Speaker 12: Yeah, so I am very much.
32:25
Speaker 17: I specialize in education policy, okay, and so I am
32:30
Speaker 17: fascinated with policy and the ramifications and the effects of policy.
32:35
Speaker 17: I'm also fixated on what I consider to be bad policy.
32:39
Speaker 17: And I am a strategist. I'm a trained strategic planner
32:43
Speaker 17: for education.
32:44
Speaker 2: But with all those things, why a run for Bard
32:47
Speaker 2: of Education? Because I mean, I think you're to be
32:49
Speaker 2: commended for all those things that you've done and continue
32:52
Speaker 2: to do, but you could do a lot of those
32:53
Speaker 2: things without being on the Board of Education. Why the
32:56
Speaker 2: run for the Board of Education.
32:57
Speaker 17: Well, I'm currently finishing my PhD through Pretty Universe and
33:00
Speaker 17: I'm hoping to graduate in December. And it has been
33:03
Speaker 17: during that time of completing my PhD that I feel
33:06
Speaker 17: as though working in education and being someone who is
33:09
Speaker 17: transformed by education, when I see things that I think
33:14
Speaker 17: either need to be addressed or things that I think
33:17
Speaker 17: could be improved, I don't like to complain without offering
33:21
Speaker 17: a solution. It just so happened that I offered myself
33:23
Speaker 17: as a solution in this situation.
33:25
Speaker 12: I've lived in Putnam County.
33:27
Speaker 17: I graduated from Windfield High School in two thousand and three,
33:29
Speaker 17: and since that time, I have seen what I feel
33:32
Speaker 17: are not great policy decisions or policy implementation. And in
33:37
Speaker 17: addition to that, with the last ten years of a
33:41
Speaker 17: considerable population decline and we've lost sixteen percent of our
33:45
Speaker 17: student body population, the Board of Education has not engaged
33:49
Speaker 17: in any strategic planning that would help to address those things.
33:54
Speaker 17: And it is with my level of experience and I
33:58
Speaker 17: hate to use the word expertise but amount of study
34:01
Speaker 17: in particular areas that I don't necessarily look at anyone
34:05
Speaker 17: and think, oh, I'm better than this person, for example,
34:08
Speaker 17: But I do think that if I have the skills,
34:10
Speaker 17: because I am so dedicated to community service, that it
34:14
Speaker 17: is my civic duty to then step up and provide
34:18
Speaker 17: myself as an option for my community to choose me
34:22
Speaker 17: if that's what they want to do.
34:23
Speaker 2: I'm trying to Sarah Brown again, who is a candidate
34:25
Speaker 2: for Board of Education at Putndham County. But Dave Allen
34:27
Speaker 2: Show and five eighty Live is brought to you in
34:28
Speaker 2: part by Husband's Pizza. This month get a large at
34:31
Speaker 2: and inch pepperoni pizza and the order of setiment bites
34:33
Speaker 2: only twenty ninety nine. Find your nearest local hustans for
34:36
Speaker 2: not in delivery or pickup at Huston's Pizza dot com.
34:40
Speaker 2: It's Putnam County and I've lived there for twelve years now.
34:43
Speaker 2: Putnam County is an interesting place because it is it's
34:46
Speaker 2: deemed to have in many people's I've been on what
34:48
Speaker 2: study you read the best some of the best, some
34:52
Speaker 2: of the best schools in West Virginia de man, he
34:54
Speaker 2: would say some, and you know, and you know the
34:56
Speaker 2: best whatever, And but there are still issues within any
35:01
Speaker 2: school system, absolutely say, and you've addressed them. What's some
35:04
Speaker 2: of those? And you talked a little bit about addressing
35:07
Speaker 2: the fact that they're losing population as far as within
35:11
Speaker 2: the student body goes, What specifically do you hope to
35:15
Speaker 2: do if you are elected as the board of education
35:16
Speaker 2: to be able to fix that.
35:18
Speaker 17: So, considering my research background, I think it would be
35:21
Speaker 17: important for us to survey our community to see why
35:24
Speaker 17: people have left the school system so that we can
35:27
Speaker 17: focus on what we could address. I think we should
35:31
Speaker 17: also be doing a needs assessment for the county to
35:33
Speaker 17: see what, you know, what is outside of our purview.
35:38
Speaker 17: I don't think that it is a good idea to
35:42
Speaker 17: assume that being you know, a board member or being
35:45
Speaker 17: on a board means that you have the best perspective
35:48
Speaker 17: of how to address problems. I think those are community
35:51
Speaker 17: elected positions. They're non partisan positions. The reason that they're
35:54
Speaker 17: non partisan positions is because party politics should not be
35:57
Speaker 17: influencing your decision in that role, because you should be
36:00
Speaker 17: hearing your community and making decisions based on what that
36:03
Speaker 17: community needs. And to me, it is in seeing what
36:08
Speaker 17: I feel is a lack of connectivity to our community.
36:11
Speaker 17: A lack of access is what I keep hearing from
36:13
Speaker 17: constituents over and over again. They can't get a hold
36:15
Speaker 17: of their board members. They don't feel as if they're
36:17
Speaker 17: being heard. I hope to address from the jump that need.
36:23
Speaker 17: I already have people messaging me. I'm not even elected
36:26
Speaker 17: to this position. But I think being in education, I
36:30
Speaker 17: have had the ability to survey the land, so to speak,
36:34
Speaker 17: and collect resources. And I should not be sitting here
36:38
Speaker 17: in front of you today. I should not be getting
36:39
Speaker 17: a pH d. I am probably one of the most
36:45
Speaker 17: educated as far as going to college individuals in my
36:48
Speaker 17: entire family. I was one of the first women in
36:49
Speaker 17: my family to get a college degree, and it's from
36:54
Speaker 17: stumbling my way through education that I've been able to
36:57
Speaker 17: collect resources. I can't in good conscience do that without
37:00
Speaker 17: sharing it with people who need it, but I'm not
37:02
Speaker 17: always in contact with those people. Being in this role
37:06
Speaker 17: would allow me to connect those people to resources so
37:09
Speaker 17: that they feel heard. But then it would also put
37:12
Speaker 17: me in the position to then listen to them so
37:14
Speaker 17: that I could then address some of the issues that
37:17
Speaker 17: are going on. Some of it is communication issues, right.
37:21
Speaker 17: People see one issue, but then you know people on
37:23
Speaker 17: the board or people in the school system may see
37:25
Speaker 17: it as another and there's not a lot of mediation
37:28
Speaker 17: as far as that's concerned at times. And so from
37:32
Speaker 17: the jump, it would be transparency and being available to
37:36
Speaker 17: my constituents as one board member. It's like, what could
37:40
Speaker 17: one person do? One person could do a lot of things,
37:43
Speaker 17: but right now my community feels like they need to
37:45
Speaker 17: be heard and that's the one thing that I could
37:47
Speaker 17: be actionable and regardless of my connectivity to the rest
37:51
Speaker 17: of the war members.
37:52
Speaker 2: So I'm Sarah Brown again, who's the candidate for Board
37:53
Speaker 2: of Education Putdam County. But Dave Allen Show on five
37:56
Speaker 2: eighty Live brought you in part by the Charleston Dirty
37:58
Speaker 2: Birds Birds on the Road that they are back though
38:00
Speaker 2: at go Martin Ballpark Tuesday night. Get your tickets now,
38:02
Speaker 2: dirty words baseball dot com. How's the campaign been for you.
38:06
Speaker 12: It's been a lot of fun.
38:08
Speaker 2: Which had you ever run for office before? No?
38:10
Speaker 1: No.
38:12
Speaker 17: My senior year in high school, I helped my best
38:13
Speaker 17: friend's mom campaign to get on the board of education,
38:16
Speaker 17: and so that was a cool experience, even back then.
38:18
Speaker 17: So I'm an independent and I have been since I
38:20
Speaker 17: could vote, And I even remember back then she seemed
38:24
Speaker 17: to be more liberal than me, but I knew she
38:28
Speaker 17: had my best interest at heart, so her personal politics
38:30
Speaker 17: to me didn't really matter because I knew at the
38:32
Speaker 17: end of the day she was really going to be
38:34
Speaker 17: focusing on my education. And it's using that as an
38:38
Speaker 17: example that I approach this role myself, and I have
38:42
Speaker 17: really loved campaigning. It's been great to talk to my community,
38:48
Speaker 17: interact with my community. They've shown up for me. I
38:51
Speaker 17: have done fundraising and my entire campaign has been paid
38:55
Speaker 17: for by my community.
38:58
Speaker 2: Running for office and I've never run for office, but
39:00
Speaker 2: I have been part of campaigns prior to this job.
39:04
Speaker 2: It's a totally different experience and you don't know what
39:06
Speaker 2: it is until you've actually done it. And you've got
39:09
Speaker 2: out there, and there's so much that goes into it
39:11
Speaker 2: other than just the campaign. I mean there's so many things. Again. Absolutely,
39:16
Speaker 2: do you have a website or social media people?
39:19
Speaker 17: I do, so you can find me at Sarah Brown
39:22
Speaker 17: for Board of Education on Facebook and you can find
39:25
Speaker 17: me Brown for Board of Ed I think on TikTok
39:29
Speaker 17: and my website is Sarah brownwv dot com.
39:32
Speaker 2: All right, I do this with every candidate. I call
39:34
Speaker 2: it the final thirty not timed. Why should someone vote
39:39
Speaker 2: for you for Putnam County Board of Education?
39:41
Speaker 17: You should vote vote for me for Putnam County Board
39:43
Speaker 17: of Education first and foremost. I believe I'm the most
39:45
Speaker 17: qualified candidate when approaching this role. I am someone who
39:49
Speaker 17: not only has the education and experience to implement things
39:54
Speaker 17: that I think could really help our county, like strategic
39:57
Speaker 17: planning or policy revision and development, but I am also
40:01
Speaker 17: someone who's deeply dedicated to their community and deeply dedicated
40:05
Speaker 17: to listening to my community. I'm someone who is not
40:10
Speaker 17: only interested, but available and willing to work with people
40:12
Speaker 17: who think like me, don't think like me. It does
40:15
Speaker 17: not matter. It is the only way that we are
40:17
Speaker 17: going to improve our environment for our students and to
40:20
Speaker 17: see success. And I believe that people should vote for
40:24
Speaker 17: me because I am a candidate who is willing to
40:27
Speaker 17: provoke change while also being an avid community member and
40:32
Speaker 17: someone who is maintaining that connectivity all the way through.
40:36
Speaker 2: Appreciate you being here. Best luck in your campaign. Sarah
40:38
Speaker 2: Brown again is a candid for Putnam County Board of Education.

Speaker 2: the Dome is coming up tomorrow, and I know you
43:50
Speaker 2: guys have been very, very busy getting ready. I have
43:54
Speaker 2: learned in event planning over the years and I've never
43:57
Speaker 2: let me just say for the record, I've never planned
43:59
Speaker 2: something as big as Fune with. I've been part of
44:00
Speaker 2: other things a lot of times. Once it starts, it's
44:04
Speaker 2: like you go, oh, yeah, it's here. It's all the
44:07
Speaker 2: stuff leading up to the stuff, yees the problem. So
44:10
Speaker 2: that's not the problem, but the most difficulty.
44:12
Speaker 4: Yeah.
44:12
Speaker 19: Well, first I'll say I thought you were going to
44:14
Speaker 19: introduce us as the house band, and I was getting excited.
44:16
Speaker 12: I was like, oh, they got to.
44:19
Speaker 2: My guys and Aim of Steel and they're fantastic. Yeah
44:22
Speaker 2: they're fantastic. Uh No, yeah, No, it's great. We're yes.
44:26
Speaker 6: Of course.
44:26
Speaker 19: Today is we're doing last you know, all the last
44:27
Speaker 19: minute stuff you gotta do the day before an event,
44:29
Speaker 19: going down to the boulevardist that stuff up. But everything
44:31
Speaker 19: is smooth. We're excited. I mean, you know, tickets are
44:34
Speaker 19: selling well. We still have tickets available foam CWV dot com,
44:38
Speaker 19: So please go get your tickets today. We always so
44:40
Speaker 19: many people wait till the day before because they're checking
44:42
Speaker 19: for weather. The good news is it looks like the
44:44
Speaker 19: weather is going to be just fine tomorrow. As matter
44:46
Speaker 19: of fact, maybe a perfect day for this event. Yeah,
44:49
Speaker 19: partly sunny in seventy six or something.
44:51
Speaker 2: Brian Hughes tells me. It's going to start off a
44:53
Speaker 2: little cloudy, maybe a couple of sprinkles in the morning,
44:56
Speaker 2: but we're talking sprinkles, we're not talking about if even
44:58
Speaker 2: that's only about a twenty percent chance. And then after
45:00
Speaker 2: that the clouds are going to move away. It's going
45:02
Speaker 2: to be like low to mid seventies tomorrow, perfect perfect.
45:05
Speaker 19: Perfect, yes, yes, from Mother's Day weekend all around, and
45:08
Speaker 19: don't you know the East End yard sale is in
45:11
Speaker 19: the morning from eight to two that our friends at
45:13
Speaker 19: the Community Association have been working hard to get it ready.
45:15
Speaker 19: I think it's a packed house over there too. A
45:17
Speaker 19: lot of folks now that both events are on the
45:20
Speaker 19: same day. This is how we used to always do it,
45:22
Speaker 19: and we're finally back to that. A lot of folks
45:24
Speaker 19: they'll leave the art sale, they'll come, they'll just walk
45:26
Speaker 19: over to the boulevard and enjoy a full, full afternoon
45:29
Speaker 19: of beer and music and food.
45:30
Speaker 20: So you also have time to go home and taken
45:32
Speaker 20: that first, you want, sure.
45:34
Speaker 2: And we got Stephen Jenny's yard sale going on. That's
45:36
Speaker 2: right over at Laidley Field, and now I think it
45:38
Speaker 2: wraps up about one. So what Stephen Jenny does. Yeah,
45:40
Speaker 2: there's certainly no shortage of things to do now, and
45:43
Speaker 2: so you're doing the VIP. Early access starts at three.
45:46
Speaker 2: It's fifty five bucks. General admission is forty five dollars.
45:49
Speaker 2: Explain the difference between the VIP and generals.
45:52
Speaker 19: VIP you do, like you said, you get an extra
45:54
Speaker 19: hour of the event from three to four. You get
45:56
Speaker 19: early access. Right, lives will be shorter, These lines will
45:58
Speaker 19: be shorter. I will say a lot a lot of folks
46:00
Speaker 19: take advantage of the VIP. I think we typically have
46:02
Speaker 19: just as many VIPs we do GJA. Yeah, you know
46:06
Speaker 19: the big difference this year, celebrating ten years, we had
46:08
Speaker 19: that FOMO promo going as we came on several weeks
46:11
Speaker 19: ago to promote an announce and I believe it's almost
46:14
Speaker 19: sold out, but you get a special ten years on
46:16
Speaker 19: tap cup with that and also VIP access and of
46:19
Speaker 19: course if you just want to join for GA that
46:21
Speaker 19: starts at four o'clock, tickets will be available at the
46:24
Speaker 19: gate until we sell out, So we are encouraging folks
46:28
Speaker 19: to get there and get there, get their cup and
46:30
Speaker 19: their wristband and enjoy the enjoy the day as soon
46:32
Speaker 19: as they can.
46:32
Speaker 20: We also, if you're a VIP, have an entire tent
46:36
Speaker 20: just for VIP that has specialty beers from all of
46:39
Speaker 20: our most of our distributors that are only accessible.
46:43
Speaker 12: To VIP fas.
46:43
Speaker 2: And how many beers do we have? How many different
46:46
Speaker 2: beer vendors?
46:46
Speaker 6: Over one hundred and thirty beers this year.
46:48
Speaker 2: That's the way we'd like to phrase it, over one hundred.
46:50
Speaker 19: And thirty different beers, Yes, beers siders. Seltzer's Slushy Us.
46:55
Speaker 19: There's a slushy machine at one of the booths. You know,
46:57
Speaker 19: a boozy slushy machines. Of course it's seltzer. It's not liquor.
47:02
Speaker 19: We don't serve liquor at this event. So but yeah,
47:05
Speaker 19: I mean, this is this is that event, Lauren, I
47:07
Speaker 19: think mentioned this yesterday. This is that event that people
47:10
Speaker 19: schedule their whole weekend around. They come in. You know,
47:13
Speaker 19: there was one year that the there was a team
47:17
Speaker 19: it was the members of a basket or a track
47:19
Speaker 19: team from the University of Michigan, and they were in
47:22
Speaker 19: for a rafting trip and they saw our ad come
47:25
Speaker 19: up on their phone for this craft beer festival, and
47:27
Speaker 19: they showed up and they came and enjoyed tracks for
47:29
Speaker 19: the entire day.
47:30
Speaker 2: You're going to tell me that college kids like beer.
47:32
Speaker 6: Isn't that a crazy concept something you just learn along
47:35
Speaker 6: the way.
47:36
Speaker 7: Yeah.
47:37
Speaker 19: But to that point, Dave, as you know, age range
47:39
Speaker 19: for this event is it spans? I mean we're talking
47:42
Speaker 19: twenty one to seventy five. Everybody enjoys this.
47:45
Speaker 2: Do you have to be twenty one to get in?
47:47
Speaker 6: Yeah?
47:47
Speaker 2: Somebody asked me. Somebody couldn't you can't bring.
47:49
Speaker 6: Your kids with it? We don't.
47:50
Speaker 19: So if you look on the website, there's a whole
47:51
Speaker 19: FAQ section on the website. It's a very small babies,
47:54
Speaker 19: small kids that can be that can be like, you know,
47:57
Speaker 19: held whatever.
47:58
Speaker 6: That's fine.
47:59
Speaker 19: We understand people some time was like to bring their
48:00
Speaker 19: very small kids with them that they can be held,
48:02
Speaker 19: but we do not encourage folks to bring their you
48:04
Speaker 19: know five, there's other for kids to do.
48:06
Speaker 2: They're old enough to go and try to try to
48:08
Speaker 2: score some beer, then you probably don't want them there.
48:12
Speaker 2: Twelve year old Dave would have been doing twelve year
48:14
Speaker 2: old Rick would have been doing one another.
48:15
Speaker 20: They'd also be bored because, like Rick said, we don't
48:17
Speaker 20: have a lot of activities for kids at the event.
48:21
Speaker 2: Yes, a texture says, I have a question because I'm
48:23
Speaker 2: a little confused with the admission price into the event.
48:26
Speaker 2: Do you still have to pay for non alcoholic beverages
48:29
Speaker 2: or food trucks or anything like that or is all
48:31
Speaker 2: that included in the missions.
48:32
Speaker 19: It's a great question. The food, the food vendors, you
48:33
Speaker 19: do have to pay them individually. So we have fifteen
48:36
Speaker 19: different food vendors. They all have, as we mentioned yesterday,
48:38
Speaker 19: the most we've ever had. They'll have their trucks set
48:40
Speaker 19: up or their tents or their whatever their booths set up,
48:43
Speaker 19: and you do. We encourage you to bring your debit card,
48:45
Speaker 19: your cash with you to pay the food vendors for
48:48
Speaker 19: the food. The beer, of course, is included in your
48:50
Speaker 19: The beer samples are included in your in your ticket price.
48:53
Speaker 6: Okay, and the live entertainment as well.
48:55
Speaker 5: Okay.
48:56
Speaker 2: And again talk about the designated driver.
48:59
Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean we of this a few years back.
49:02
Speaker 19: Actually, the whole time we've had this event, we've always
49:04
Speaker 19: had folks have access to a free designated driver wristband.
49:08
Speaker 19: So your group is coming, you've designated your driver for
49:11
Speaker 19: the day, They're not going to be drinking. We've seen
49:13
Speaker 19: several people take advantage of this at registration, you know,
49:16
Speaker 19: they'll they'll buy that ticket and they'll get scanned in.
49:19
Speaker 6: We give them a red wristband.
49:20
Speaker 19: They can still enjoy the entire event, the live entertainment,
49:22
Speaker 19: the food, they just of course don't have access to
49:24
Speaker 19: the beer tables.
49:25
Speaker 3: Okay.
49:26
Speaker 2: And talk about afterwards.
49:28
Speaker 19: Foam after the dome. I'm so glad we brought this back.
49:31
Speaker 19: We started this last year. You know, as you know, Dave,
49:33
Speaker 19: the whole point of our organization is to shine a
49:35
Speaker 19: huge spotlight on our local business community. Right, That's what
49:37
Speaker 19: That's why we exist as as an organization, and so
49:40
Speaker 19: we felt it necessary to make sure that people when
49:42
Speaker 19: they left the event, the event ends at seven o'clock.
49:43
Speaker 19: This isn't a late night event. This goes till seven
49:45
Speaker 19: o'clock still right outside. If people are going to be
49:48
Speaker 19: wanting dinner, we want to make sure that they are
49:50
Speaker 19: sticking around in Charleston. Sip on, support local, as we say,
49:56
Speaker 19: and patronize all the wonderful locally owned businesses downtown East
49:59
Speaker 19: End side, with fifteen business participating this year.
50:02
Speaker 6: If you go to the website you'll see the full list.
50:05
Speaker 19: We're encouraging all of our event attendees, whether you're GA
50:08
Speaker 19: or VI I P, keep your wristband on wherever you
50:11
Speaker 19: decide to go. If you're going downtown, if you want
50:12
Speaker 19: to go to Fight for Short Story or Black Sheep,
50:14
Speaker 19: if you want to go over to the Nanar Brewery
50:16
Speaker 19: on the West Side, if you want to go to
50:17
Speaker 19: the Red Carpet on the East End, wherever you want
50:19
Speaker 19: to go, keep that riskband on. You're going to get
50:21
Speaker 19: access to some drinking food specials and all those are
50:23
Speaker 19: listed on the foam CWV dot com website.
50:27
Speaker 2: And also want to mention about the music, because we
50:29
Speaker 2: got some we got with DJ, we got we got
50:31
Speaker 2: with live music, we got a little bit of everything.
50:33
Speaker 20: Yeah, So from three to four VIP hour DJ EJ
50:36
Speaker 20: is going to be bringing the energy. He's often at
50:40
Speaker 20: a lot of our events and always don't know when
50:42
Speaker 20: the guy.
50:43
Speaker 2: I don't know when the guy sleeps.
50:45
Speaker 6: I just saw an event last night.
50:47
Speaker 2: Everywhere I go he's he.
50:49
Speaker 20: Gets the energy going. So that'll be happening three to four,
50:52
Speaker 20: and then he's going to continue to play throughout the event,
50:54
Speaker 20: which is going to be great. We have two stages
50:55
Speaker 20: this year, one on each end of the event. That's
50:58
Speaker 20: something we added a few years back to really make
51:01
Speaker 20: it feel like the event is really connected and there's
51:04
Speaker 20: something to listen to no matter where you're standing. And
51:07
Speaker 20: then on the main stage we have Wesley Saylor coming
51:09
Speaker 20: in from Kentucky and then the Charleston Rogues will be
51:12
Speaker 20: performing to end out the night.
51:14
Speaker 2: All right, another question for you, they said we've never
51:16
Speaker 2: been before. Are there tables to sit at or said
51:18
Speaker 2: to walk around event?
51:20
Speaker 19: They're not tables to sit at now of course, the
51:22
Speaker 19: now down toward the stage across from the dome, that
51:25
Speaker 19: area there that you can walk down to the river.
51:27
Speaker 19: Folks will like sit on the wall there and that
51:29
Speaker 19: kind of things on the stairs at the Capitol stairs
51:33
Speaker 19: they can do that. And then of course the cocktail
51:34
Speaker 19: tables will be there too.
51:35
Speaker 2: All right, all right, so it's tomorrow and you can
51:38
Speaker 2: get more information, get those tickets foam SEEWV dot com.
51:42
Speaker 2: We are going to be down there. All of our
51:44
Speaker 2: stations will be there. I'll be there with the Mountain KWS, HSB,
51:47
Speaker 2: We're all going to be down there as well. And
51:49
Speaker 2: then we even get to get up on stage a.
51:50
Speaker 6: Little bit, say the main attractions. Dave Atlan on the stage.
51:52
Speaker 20: Yeah, get this guy a microphone.
51:55
Speaker 2: Go on, yeah, go on, believe in that. All right, guys,
51:57
Speaker 2: we'll see you tomorrow. I gotta go see you later
