- 0:03The station where our veterans voices are heard.
- 0:07MBR talk. Hey folks, thanks for tuning in.
- 0:10You're giving veterans a voice today, powered by Work Simple,
- 0:14where we simplify your mission. And it's on the web at MB Radio
- 0:18dot U Lock in every Tuesday 8:00 PM Eastern for tracer rounds
- 0:24targeting veteran resources. So wonder why I like this?
- 0:27Like Chaos. Like tracerounds flying all
- 0:29around you. That's why I created this
- 0:31Tracerounds podcast. Every Tuesday at 8:00 PM
- 0:33Eastern, I help cut through the noise and point veterans for
- 0:35resources since 2023. To hear interviews with veteran
- 0:40artists, veteran business owners, and businesses that
- 0:43support veterans, catch us on Roku, Amazon Fire TV and MB
- 0:49Radio. If you miss a show, you can
- 0:52listen again on Wreaths Across America Radio every Wednesday at
- 0:563:00 PM Eastern TuneIn to see if you are on target.
- 1:01MBR giving veterans a voice. And welcome back to the Tracer
- 1:17Round Show. And you're on military broadcast
- 1:19radio where we're giving veterans a voice.
- 1:21And my guest is a little delayed in getting here, but the guest
- 1:26tonight is a music performer, and his name is Troy Cross.
- 1:30So I can tell you a little bit about him while we're waiting
- 1:33for him. And then maybe go ahead and play
- 1:34his song so that you'll kind of get an understanding of the type
- 1:38of music that he creates. But Troy is from East Tennessee.
- 1:43He's Americana or in roots type country artist songwriting with
- 1:49whose timeless acoustic style turns everyday struggles into
- 1:52songs hard won and hope. As a recording artist, Troy
- 1:56blends country, Americana, bluegrass, gospel influences
- 1:59into his story first writing that feels lived in and honest.
- 2:04So he's one of those that kind of tells a story with every song
- 2:07he creates. For Troy, the music is more than
- 2:11a career, it's a calling. His faith shapes the foundation
- 2:14of his work, but he delivers it through characters and scenes
- 2:18that welcome both lifelong believers and those still
- 2:21searching for what's missing. Whether he's singing a quiet
- 2:24ballad or an uplifting anthem, Troy's songs aim to tell the
- 2:28true tell the truth with tenderness, offering dignity,
- 2:32encouragement and clear reminder that no one is alone in the
- 2:35fight on stage. And record Troy creates a space
- 2:40where faith meets roots music and hope fills.
- 2:45It's hope filled. So he reached out to MBR and he
- 2:49had a song that he wanted us to play.
- 2:51And the song kind of resonated with us.
- 2:55And I think, I think it resonates with our audience.
- 2:58So I thought I'd go ahead and play it right now and hopefully
- 3:01he'll be on and too, too much longer and then we can talk to
- 3:04him about it. But the song is called Ultimate
- 3:07Sacrifice and he introduces the song in this clip.
- 3:11So we'll let you hear it. Here we go.
- 3:13Hey, it's Troy Cross, and this next song I wrote to honor all
- 3:17those heroes that laid down their lives so we could live
- 3:21ours. This is ultimate sacrifice.
- 7:10The station where our veterans voices are heard.
- 7:13MBR talk. Find us on the web at MB radio
- 7:18dot web and you are back on the tracer round show on military
- 7:23broadcast radio where we're giving veterans a voice and that
- 7:27was ultimate sacrifice by Troy Cross.
- 7:30He's it's an American tribute to those that have laid down their
- 7:34lives in defense of our freedoms.
- 7:37And he wrote that so that America's sons and daughters
- 7:41would be remembered. So I really think that's a
- 7:43fitting tribute. And I, we were really happy to
- 7:46play it. And we do have a radio channel,
- 7:49if you didn't know, if you download our app, you can listen
- 7:52to MBR talk and you can listen to this show and all the other
- 7:54great shows on the app. You can also listen to our 24/7
- 7:58radio station and it's the app is MB Radio and it has three
- 8:03different ways to listen, two of which are the radio side and
- 8:08then you have the talk side. And our radio station plays 24
- 8:11hours a day. We play veterans music and we
- 8:14also play other music that everyday music that you might
- 8:18want to hear. We play a little Elvis, we play
- 8:21Johnny Cash, we play Stone Temple Pilots, you name it.
- 8:27Toad the Wet Sprocket, the Hooters, you name it, we
- 8:30probably play it. And if we don't play it, reach
- 8:33out to us and let us know and maybe we can add it.
- 8:37I want to go ahead and play one more song.
- 8:39I'm not sure if my guest is going to make it tonight.
- 8:41He must have had something come up.
- 8:42But I am going to bring up our own H train here in just a few
- 8:47minutes after we play this next song.
- 8:49And we're going to talk a little bit about when MBR is doing with
- 8:533D printing and things like that.
- 8:56It's pretty exciting. We've got some interesting stuff
- 8:58come up and I want you to hear about it.
- 9:00So we're going to play the other song by Troy Cross.
- 9:04It's called Shovel, so here we go.
- 12:03a shovel. The station where our veterans
- 12:09voices are heard. MBR talk.
- 12:12Hey, thanks for supporting our channel by watching and
- 12:15listening. Find us on the web at NB Radio
- 12:18dot and we're back and we're inviting each train to the show.
- 12:26Well, I guess I gotta make it where he can show up.
- 12:30Welcome. HI, can't hear you.
- 12:34You're muted. Hello, how are you?
- 12:39Good. How are you so?
- 12:40I'm good, I'm good. So we were talking a little bit
- 12:43or I was talking a little bit about the stuff that we have
- 12:47coming up and I know that you're making some 3D items and we're
- 12:50creating a store. What are we doing?
- 12:53Tell us. Well, I'll tell you what.
- 12:55So what we have done is we have figured out since we were so
- 13:00blessed to be gifted this 3D printer from the Southern
- 13:05nonprofit Soldier for Signatures, which.
- 13:09Signature for soldiers. What you said, that's right.
- 13:15I, I flip it all the time, but we, we was gifted to this 3D
- 13:20printer. And with this 3D printer, we're
- 13:23able not to just teach veterans how to create, how to make.
- 13:30We're also teaching them a skill.
- 13:32Like, for example, 3D printing is a lot like welding.
- 13:37Like you have to make sure that you know the, the degrees of the
- 13:41bed. You need to make sure that you
- 13:42know the degrees of the nozzle. You need to make sure that you
- 13:46know that the filament that you're using is, is the right
- 13:50kind for, for example, recently and we're getting ready to to
- 13:56post that, but recently we've been given soap filament, that
- 14:01soap filament. We've made bars of soap.
- 14:04We have Gamer, we have Beaker, we have Quaker, we have DJ
- 14:09Ducky, we have the soap squad that we're going to be.
- 14:13It's going to be on our website soon enough.
- 14:19But like I said, it, it takes, it takes a pretty long time to
- 14:24print these ducks. So it, it's, it's going to be
- 14:28one of those things where you order it and you know, I have
- 14:32like 2 weeks to, to, to make it and to, to send you, you know,
- 14:37but it's going to be a nice little gift box and we're going
- 14:41to be asking for a $50.50 dollar donation.
- 14:44And that literally goes back to MBR because how we have
- 14:50everything set up is everything is AQR code.
- 14:53It goes right to NBR. Nobody touches anything.
- 14:57It's all there. And you know, we've been blessed
- 15:01by means of the community coming together this this earlier in
- 15:07the year and we were down, you know, 2000 some dollars so that
- 15:13we could get Stream Yard and the other nonprofit signature for
- 15:18soldiers. They, they, they, they.
- 15:23Did I mess up again? No, they stepped up is.
- 15:25All I Oh yeah, they stepped up and to, to.
- 15:28Help us. Yeah.
- 15:29Yes, they stepped up and they helped us.
- 15:31So we was able to do that. And, you know, for the longest
- 15:35time I thought about, you know, closing down the studio because
- 15:41there's not a lot of veteran participation in there.
- 15:46But, you know, as I sit there and have my, my quiet time of
- 15:52God, he, he reiterates, you know, the reason why the studio
- 15:58is part of the mission. So we're going to do everything
- 16:01that we can to keep the studio up because no matter what, it's
- 16:07a place here in Colorado that any local veteran can come, they
- 16:12can check their e-mail, they can get a bite to eat, you know,
- 16:15either a doughnut or a sandwich. They can conduct their own radio
- 16:19show and they can learn something.
- 16:21And I'll, I'll just tell you, you know, 3D printing isn't
- 16:25easy. All right, so this, this is what
- 16:27it looked like before I learned how to preview print.
- 16:31And now this is this is how it is his, his mic thing fell off.
- 16:36I got to light that up and, and, and, and glue that thing back on
- 16:41with the plastic. But you know, the nice thing
- 16:45about 3D printing is that it keeps you focused.
- 16:50It, it, it is one of those outlets that really help the
- 16:57veteran create in his mind, Hey, this is what I want to do.
- 17:02How, how can I do it? And then, you know, I'll say
- 17:04that, hey, let's, let's do it this way, Let's do it that way.
- 17:08And then we put it through a machine and it gives us the STL.
- 17:14And then after we get the STL file, we print it and he has
- 17:18that STL file for forever. He he doesn't have to pay for
- 17:25anything. That that's the key thing is not
- 17:28only the training, but like the filament for us to be able to
- 17:34use. And you know it, it doesn't come
- 17:37easy. They have, they have some
- 17:40classes here in the Denver metro area for 3D printing and they'd
- 17:46give those classes 2 * a week. But I was kind of, let's just
- 17:53put it this way, They, they frown upon people that are over
- 18:0018. It's, it's more geared towards,
- 18:04I think, high schoolers, you know?
- 18:07When? I got in there they they was
- 18:09kind of, you know, rushed to Get Me Out, which I get that, you
- 18:12know, a a guy with no kids in a in a in a kids zone shorts.
- 18:18Yeah stranger danger that you know that that can mean that can
- 18:22mean multiple things. You know, hell, I know, I was at
- 18:25the pool the other day with, with CG and you know, I, I, I
- 18:30was there for her birthday, gave her a present, you know, and
- 18:33stuff. And then I laughed and she's
- 18:34like, oh, you're leaving so soon?
- 18:36I'm like, well, I'm in a kid zone and I'm wearing pants and I
- 18:40have glasses on. So, you know, you do the math.
- 18:43I'm, I'm, I'm getting out of here before, you know, I'm
- 18:46somebody's dinner conversation. So it, it happens.
- 18:50But I'm having a lot of fun learning about the 3D printing.
- 18:56And I think any veteran that's in the area that wants to learn
- 19:00that, you know, wants to create something, maybe a battle cross,
- 19:03you know, doesn't have to be a duck, you know?
- 19:08So they can actually learn to do this remotely though, can't
- 19:11they? They can come in the studio and
- 19:14they can talk about what they want to and then you can print
- 19:18it and then it can be sent to them or the file can go to
- 19:20something that they can print to maybe mirror them if if they've
- 19:24got a 3D printer that they have access to.
- 19:26How long does it typically take for a rendering of a file to
- 19:32from the start of the project to the end of the project?
- 19:35Is it hours? Is it days?
- 19:37How long does it take to create something like like a figure if
- 19:40you're doing one of the ducks? So that that's that's the
- 19:43interesting thing. So you know how you get a will
- 19:49will will speaking to us on TikTok now.
- 19:54And so the, the, the nice thing about it is because of AI, it
- 20:01makes it a little bit easier. But the one thing that you can't
- 20:05replace with AI is like the technique.
- 20:08So for example, you'll have an STL file and then you'll upload
- 20:13the STL file. Well, you know the way it is on
- 20:16the plate. You know, determines how the
- 20:20slicer slice it. That means that you you know
- 20:24that you're you're you're cutting it ready.
- 20:26OK, this is what I want to print kind of thing.
- 20:30And it will show you like how, what the filament is at what
- 20:34percentage the, the headset is or you know what, whatever mark
- 20:40the eyes, whatever the mark is, it'll tell you the the whole
- 20:45settings and it will tell you how many you know, first mints
- 20:49that there is. And 1st mints is basically poop.
- 20:52OK, so every time it changes the color, it poops, it poops out
- 20:59that color. You have to have a poop bag and
- 21:01everything. I'm literally I, I think that
- 21:03should call it spaghetti, but they call it poop.
- 21:05So once you figure out like there's sometimes that you have
- 21:12the model at the wrong angle because the nozzle once it's
- 21:18trying to get this over here and it bumps it, it can knock it off
- 21:23of the bed. And once it's knocked off the
- 21:26bed, it's not stable. And then it doesn't matter if
- 21:29it's like 75% done, if it knock, if it knocks off the table,
- 21:36you're done. You, you just, you have to start
- 21:38it over because they haven't, they haven't designed technology
- 21:43yet to, to create, you know, to get that sweet spot.
- 21:48There might be somebody that knows how to do an eyeball.
- 21:51I am not that person. So do you use AI to create the
- 21:55STL file or is that some kind of programming that you use to Draw
- 22:01Something? So there's there's three ways
- 22:03you can do it. You can use, you can use that as
- 22:06AI or what you can do is you can go into other STLS.
- 22:12And like I'm saying when I tell you this like this isn't to make
- 22:17like a profit or anything like that.
- 22:19But when you go into these other STLS, maybe there's a part or a
- 22:23figure or whatever that you know, you like, you can copy
- 22:27that and put it on there and then you can kind of form your
- 22:31own STL. That's one way.
- 22:34Then if you want to make money off of it, there's two programs
- 22:40called Meshy and there's another program called Trio.
- 22:45You know, both have their strengths, both have their
- 22:48weaknesses. I would learn more towards Trio
- 22:52because every mesh that comes off of Trio it it seems like it
- 22:57works real well. And then you know, you can add
- 23:00text and stuff on there. You just have to remember the
- 23:04thickness of millimeters. You have to have it at least
- 23:08three or four so that it's poking outside the wall.
- 23:13So in other words, you have to know math.
- 23:15You do have to know some sort of math, yes.
- 23:18Yeah, we said we'd. Never use it when we're adults.
- 23:21We said we'd never use it when we were adults, and now we have
- 23:24to math all over again. Well, you know, that's what I'm
- 23:26saying. Like it, it's so much like
- 23:29welding because when you Weld you have to make sure that you
- 23:33know the temperature of the metal.
- 23:35You need to make sure what the metal is made of, like the
- 23:38mixtures and and all that stuff. Like I know that I, I don't know
- 23:44what, but I know that they need to know that stuff.
- 23:48I don't know the numbers off top of hand.
- 23:51I can tell you the, the numbers for the 3D printing.
- 23:55For example, if if you're brand new and you, you're trying that
- 24:00new filament called time plast, it's a soap filament.
- 24:07If you do that soap filament, then it needs to be AII believe
- 24:14a standard hardened 8mm wide and you have to set the nozzle
- 24:26temperature at about I would say about 2:20.
- 24:29And what's weird is you have to keep the door closed because if
- 24:34you don't keep the door closed, the, the, the soap filament, it,
- 24:39it, it will all mess up. It will become unstable.
- 24:42So you have to keep the door closed.
- 24:44There's a, there's a, hey, what's up to me?
- 24:49There's a bunch of different filaments.
- 24:52Like there's, there's chocolate filament.
- 24:55Now there's a fish food filament.
- 24:59I, I, I, I one time, I believe Trace, I sent you a diagram of
- 25:06all the different filaments that this company is making.
- 25:12And, you know, so far I'm the only one that has like made
- 25:19something and showed them it's something that I made.
- 25:24It's not like just, you know, something off of the STL.
- 25:27So that's a, that's a big thing. They, they said that they was
- 25:30going to promote it and they was going to showboat it here in
- 25:34next couple of days, you know, and it just shows you that, you
- 25:38know, it doesn't matter if it's learning Spanish.
- 25:41It doesn't matter if it's, you know, learning animation, if you
- 25:47want something bad enough and you stick to your guns, you, you
- 25:52can learn anything that you want.
- 25:54And you know, a, some people hate AIAI has taught me a lot of
- 26:02stuff. And that's the way I use AI is,
- 26:07you know, I'll look into and say, OK, what, what, what do you
- 26:11suggest? And then I'll try to mimic it
- 26:14with my own personal flavour. Same thing that we do with
- 26:19Canva. We we add our own personal
- 26:22flavor. So you said chocolate, is it
- 26:26just a scent or this isn't something like you can't create
- 26:30something that's edible, right with a 3D printer?
- 26:34I don't know anymore. Because you can do soap.
- 26:37So does the soap have a scent? Is it just?
- 26:40So the soap that I got, I, I did it purposely.
- 26:45I wanted to get something just, you know, regular plain Jane so
- 26:49that I could learn how to print it.
- 26:51Now, now that I know how to print it, now I can start
- 26:55bringing in. But for these soaps, it's, it's
- 26:59just kind of a regular soap. And then you put like Olympus
- 27:05oil or sweet pea oil or or whatever right on the bottom and
- 27:10it soaks it up. And yesterday I cleaned myself
- 27:13with beaker and I will tell you that the interesting thing is I
- 27:20I chink clean and I smelled clean.
- 27:23But you know how you get that nasty film when you use a bar of
- 27:26soap compared to when you use like shower gel or or gel?
- 27:32Yeah, some soaps, I think. Yeah.
- 27:34Yeah, I didn't get that film off of this.
- 27:37So, you know, the next thing that I'm going to do is, you
- 27:41know, I'm, I'm researching rope and I'm going to make a soap on
- 27:44the rope beaker. Oh, that's cool.
- 27:47Yeah, so, but I've learned a lot on it, you know, and it's it's
- 27:55for any veterinary first responder in Colorado.
- 27:58Come on, come on over. You know, schedule a time.
- 28:01We'll, we'll, we'll, we'll design something that you want
- 28:06to design and then we'll go to print it.
- 28:09Hell, that sounds like a good, good time to me.
- 28:13Definitely, it's a, it's a something that people I think
- 28:16really want to learn or may be scared to learn it by
- 28:19themselves. So having someone kind of show
- 28:21them the ropes and kind of walk through the process because
- 28:24you've done your own investigation and your own trial
- 28:27and error in order to get what you've got right now.
- 28:29Because I know that you've had several different things you've
- 28:33tried and they haven't always turned out exactly as you would
- 28:35hoped, but with a little effort and a little fortitude, they've
- 28:39come out to what you you were looking for.
- 28:42Well, you know, the one thing that I've that I've found out
- 28:46and the one thing that I've noticed is, you know,
- 28:50everything, every mistake that I've made in the past, like I
- 28:54remember it now, you know, like you know when I first did that.
- 29:00So there's three times, not well, actually 8, but the only
- 29:03three that you're going to ever going to see is the four, the
- 29:076mm and the 8mm. Very rarely are you going to see
- 29:11the 8mm. This was a very, very, very rare
- 29:16occasion that I, I use the 8mm, but you're usually going to use
- 29:21the 4mm and, you know, learning like the warmth, like what the
- 29:28temperature has to be for the bed and the temperature has to
- 29:31be, you know, in the concoction itself.
- 29:36You know, it's, it's, it's kind of, it's kind of neat that I can
- 29:41sit there and while the things going on, like I can tie and
- 29:46turn something and then the nozzle go there instead.
- 29:50And you can really carve inside. So just because somebody does
- 29:56use like a file, like AI doesn't necessarily means the, the
- 30:02journey stops there because you still have to print it.
- 30:05And sometimes to print it you you have to stand on your head.
- 30:11Right. And so you've just made some off
- 30:14the wall things with the printing to like parts for a car
- 30:18and you've made a shelf. What all have you made?
- 30:20What? What different projects have you
- 30:22tried? Well, I think my my pride and
- 30:25joy right now is the squally Polly.
- 30:29And then, Oh no. You need, you need to tell us
- 30:33what that is now. The Squatty Potty yes, the
- 30:36squatty potty is a box that you put by the toilet that helps you
- 30:41get your knees up because our our, our body posture posture
- 30:49has to be aligned a certain way for the chocolate ice cream to
- 30:55come out. I see 'cause.
- 30:58If you don't think your knees dry, you're going to be like a
- 31:01McDonald ice cream machine and and not work.
- 31:05So that's what the Swati potty is.
- 31:07For nice. OK, what else have you made?
- 31:11Footwear, you know, when, when, when, when, when I get things,
- 31:18you know, slow down a little bit.
- 31:21I'm trying to make kind of like inventory.
- 31:22I'll, I'll be making more of the 3D prints.
- 31:28Yeah, slides. I, I like to call them dogs, you
- 31:34know, so. Love that.
- 31:39Yeah, I, I, I love it too. Let's see what else?
- 31:44Oh, another thing that I learned that's real interesting is
- 31:50there's a difference between the filament, for example, like
- 31:54there's P, there's PLA, which is usually the, the, the most
- 32:02favorable one. But keep in mind about 70° it
- 32:09starts to melt. In Colorado, we've got about,
- 32:12you know, say 90 some degrees. Well, when I went out, I had
- 32:17created like a, a display mount for my granddaughter and that
- 32:22little piece that I go and tighten the phone on, it melted
- 32:29a little bit and I'm like, oh, OK.
- 32:31Well, there's a reason why they say they use PETG.
- 32:35So it's really important that you understand that you, you,
- 32:40and I'll tell you how flexible play is.
- 32:44I had a donation box that I made.
- 32:47It was in the trunk of of the motorcycle.
- 32:52I didn't touch it. Nothing was on it.
- 32:54OK. It melted the front part inside
- 33:00the box a little bit. So I had to take a hair dryer
- 33:06and I had to warm up the hair dryer and then press on the wall
- 33:10so that it would flare out. That's what I mean by it doesn't
- 33:16take much for play. So if you plan on making
- 33:21something like a stand for ATV, anything that you know has to
- 33:26withdo a little bit of hot. Right.
- 33:29You want to do PPETG, you can do a ABS A/B S is really strong.
- 33:37ABS is meant for like if you want to put it right next to an
- 33:41engine that that's how hot ABS is it.
- 33:47It can still somewhat melt a little bit.
- 33:51Carbon fiber is the next one above ABS.
- 33:55So there's there's lots of different degrees for the
- 34:00filaments, just like welding. Wow, that's pretty incredible
- 34:05that you've learned all that because you didn't know how to
- 34:073D print before all this kicked off, did you?
- 34:11I didn't know shit. I didn't know shit.
- 34:14But you know, The thing is, is like when I learned something,
- 34:18it's it's another thing that I can show a veteran, you know,
- 34:21maybe that's not his outlet. So you're like I'm, I am 48
- 34:27years old and I still haven't figured out why I'm still.
- 34:32Trying. Right.
- 34:34I'm still trying to find that outlet, you know, is that outlet
- 34:40TikTok doing like reels and videos?
- 34:42Is that outlet gaming, you know, where you can make money or, you
- 34:49know, just just play for the joy of it, You know, right, Like
- 34:54that's why gamers do all right. Is your outlet like cartoons?
- 34:59You like coloring coloring books?
- 35:01If you like coloring coloring books you would be amazing as an
- 35:06animator. Right.
- 35:09You know. I probably was used for being
- 35:14rude. Hi, Treasure.
- 35:17Hi, Timothy. I love Timothy.
- 35:20Timothy is my blue. But yeah, you know, it's I, I,
- 35:28I'm blessed that God gave me that chance to, to learn that
- 35:34stuff. And that's the reason why
- 35:35whenever somebody asks me like, hey, should I go to college or
- 35:38should I go to an internship? I would say go to an internship
- 35:42every time because usually the internship isn't going to cost
- 35:46you. You'll get something out of it
- 35:47rather you paying for a class. And let's face it, a lot of us,
- 35:53once we get out of high school, you know, it's, it's a different
- 35:58environment. You know, it's, it's, it's shaky
- 36:01ground. So it's, it's always a caution.
- 36:05So I would encourage anybody to really get into the internships.
- 36:10And you know, even if MBR isn't your cup of tea, if there's
- 36:15another nonprofit organization that could use your help, you
- 36:19know, help, there it is. It's not, it's not just
- 36:25rewarding like it's, it's very fulfilling when you teach
- 36:30somebody and you know, like, like today we're, we're, we're,
- 36:35we're, we're, we're not going to, we're not going to announce
- 36:38it like the name or whatever. But today I have AI had a prior
- 36:42intern that wrote me, told me that he just sold his show and
- 36:48that he's going big time. I mean, you you saw that post,
- 36:52you know, and you know, it's it's amazing that we are in
- 37:00enabling our veterans to go the extra mile.
- 37:06Yeah, NBR sure, it's a it's a footstone some to some, but you
- 37:10know what? It's a footstone to veterans
- 37:14that have something to say and damn it, they earn that shit on
- 37:19the battlefield. They should have every right to
- 37:21say that compared to some people.
- 37:25I agree. And and we've seen a lot of
- 37:28people move on to other things from starting a podcast here or
- 37:32starting at some kind of radio show, something like that.
- 37:35So we're really excited for people's progression and for,
- 37:39you know, what they're doing and, and the things that they're
- 37:42able to bring to the wider audience, the veteran community
- 37:47or the wider audience of just the community in general.
- 37:50So you talked a little bit about cartooning.
- 37:53So we do have that on the platform too.
- 37:55So if you want to learn how to animate, we, we do have a little
- 37:59video that you and one of the other hosts created and and we
- 38:05we sent that out about it was about a month ago.
- 38:07It was on, yeah, it was on Father's Day.
- 38:10And we have, we have a new one coming out.
- 38:13It's called, you know, Beaker's life.
- 38:17You, you get a feel for who Beaker is.
- 38:21And you know what he went through to, to get where he is
- 38:25now. And that's going to come out.
- 38:28I, we're, I hate to say like a debut date, 'cause you know,
- 38:34Murph is, Murph is busy as I am, but you know, we, we really
- 38:40think that we can get it out by September 11th.
- 38:43And the reason why we kind of want to get out for September
- 38:4711th is because you know, September 11th that, that, that
- 38:53changed a lot of people's minds. You know that that's the reason
- 38:58why that's an important day. You know, if you, if you can
- 39:02think back back in that time, I know so, so long ago, but if you
- 39:07can think back in that time, you know, when those, when those
- 39:12towers came down, we was like any man in a, a country bar.
- 39:19If, if, if somebody touched our woman, we we'd be just striking.
- 39:24We wouldn't even be asking questions.
- 39:26And that's, that's the day that our country really got unified.
- 39:34We really got unified. We reminded everybody, hey, we
- 39:39got you, we got you. You know, that's an important
- 39:45day because we, you know, no matter how old you are, you can
- 39:50reflect on that by even what people said.
- 39:54You know, it's, it's a different time now than it was back then,
- 39:59but that doesn't mean that we can't get back to that.
- 40:03That's right. Yeah.
- 40:05I mean, we're all together and very patriotic when that came
- 40:09about. And, you know, people really did
- 40:12set aside their differences to come together to make a big
- 40:15difference. So yes, we can do that.
- 40:18And, and I know that there's a lot of people that are trying to
- 40:21find a way to, to bridge the gap and to let everyone set aside
- 40:26their political views, you know, their likes, dislikes, whatever,
- 40:29to just make a difference for the country.
- 40:32And I think really that's what's important at the end of the day,
- 40:35is US coming together as a country, not, not our, not our
- 40:38differences, but but our similarities and, and our common
- 40:41desire to see, you know, 1 nation under God, you know, with
- 40:46liberty and freedom for all. I think that's all what we want
- 40:50to see. We don't want to go back to a
- 40:51day when, you know, it's only for a certain few.
- 40:54We, we want all of us to be in that freedom and in that space.
- 40:58So I. Think.
- 41:00I think we can come together with that for sure.
- 41:03Exactly. So in if you want to podcast,
- 41:07what does somebody do? If they want to podcast, if they
- 41:08want to show like this and they want to be on TikTok or they
- 41:11want to be on YouTube or they want to be on Instagram, what do
- 41:14they do? Well, the first thing that they
- 41:16do is they get on the website and they schedule a one-on-one,
- 41:24one-on-one class with me and Amber.
- 41:27Me and Amber have a little bit of a checklist now that we will
- 41:31go by. OK, we taught you that.
- 41:34Yep, Yep, you graduated that Yep, Yep, you know.
- 41:37And then you, you give beyond air instead of, you know, US
- 41:43rushing you to get on air. You know, we want to give you
- 41:47the, you know, what's worked for us.
- 41:51We, we're not going to say that we're professionals.
- 41:53We're not going to say that, you know, all of us, you know, went
- 41:57to college or anything like that.
- 41:59But what we will say is that, hey, this is what we have found
- 42:04that works for this platform. This is what works for bringing
- 42:09people in, stuff like that. And when you do come into the,
- 42:16you know, to the class, you know, we're going to, we're
- 42:19going to tell, we're going to guide you.
- 42:21You know, we're going to help you create a logo.
- 42:23We're going to help you create your, your, your, your platform,
- 42:28right. And it doesn't have to be
- 42:33veteran related. It can be soccer, it can be
- 42:36football, it can be whatever you want it to be.
- 42:42That's what this platform is all about.
- 42:44We have an audio server, a talk server, a video server.
- 42:52We have all these different servers.
- 42:54They're just outlets. What outlet do you think that
- 42:59you would excel in? What, what what do you want to
- 43:01try? You know, I I wouldn't doubt we
- 43:04have somebody come and say, Hey, you know what?
- 43:06I want to I want to try DJ ING for, you know, for two weeks,
- 43:10you know, or I want to try talk radio or I just want to be a
- 43:14guest. You know, we get a lot of that
- 43:16as well. And you can also like, Hey, I
- 43:21just want to do a voice for cartoon.
- 43:23You can totally do that. The limits, literally the, the
- 43:31Sky's the limit here at MBR and we're all in this together.
- 43:38Just schedule a time right on the website and just just come
- 43:42with ideas and we'll work at it together.
- 43:46And that's exactly what I did when I came to MB RI, found the
- 43:50ad in the Veterans newsletter and it said be a podcaster.
- 43:54And I was like what? This is exactly what I was
- 43:56looking for. So I scheduled a time, took a
- 43:59little while to get on board because there was such a demand
- 44:03and such a a scheduling rush that it took a little while to
- 44:07get on. But I got on and I was helped
- 44:10with creating logos, with kind of how to use the platform, how
- 44:16to use Stream yard, all the different things.
- 44:19And then, you know, MBR helps with guests too, because a lot
- 44:22of guests reach out to MBR and want to be on.
- 44:25And so we have them on multiple shows because they have a really
- 44:27good message or a really good story.
- 44:30So we share guests and really give them the exposure that they
- 44:33need or that they may want for a new book, a new single, and a
- 44:38new program there they developed or maybe a nonprofit that they
- 44:44started. So we really want to highlight
- 44:47veterans across the board, whatever they might be doing.
- 44:51So if they're animating or if they're writing books or if
- 44:54they're writing songs or if they're in a band or if they're
- 44:57doing some kind of performance somewhere, or if they have a
- 45:00nonprofit or if they have a product that they're trying to
- 45:02sell, we try to highlight those. And so really what we're trying
- 45:06to do is maybe get the veteran exposed to a different audience
- 45:12and also out into the bedroom community.
- 45:14So, you know, really here at MBR, you can really decide what
- 45:18it is that you're interested in and how you want to develop your
- 45:22show or develop a product for veterans.
- 45:27And you know, and what we're in Westminster, Co, 9191 Sheridan
- 45:32Blvd. Come by, be nosy.
- 45:36You can sit in, you don't have to be on camera.
- 45:38You don't have to talk, but you can come in.
- 45:41You can see what we're doing. You know, you can you can
- 45:45observe and just watch. You know, you never know, you
- 45:50might find the content. Finally come in, you know, the,
- 45:55the, the, the name of the game is that every veteran has a
- 46:01place where they can go here in Colorado.
- 46:06They don't have to, they don't have to question it tomorrow.
- 46:09They know that they can, they know they, they can come here.
- 46:11You know, you always, you know, the one thing in life you always
- 46:15know is that one that one person or that one place that you can
- 46:19go to that's always going to be there.
- 46:24That's. Good to know.
- 46:25And we have a couple of hosts on the show tonight that are in the
- 46:29audience and we have OM Radio and he has a really great show
- 46:34on Thursdays at 8:00 PM Eastern, I believe, or is, yeah, 8:00 PM
- 46:39Eastern. And then we have the world of
- 46:45conscious about to set it wrong. And MJ was going to get me the
- 46:49world of conscious positive thinking.
- 46:51And she's on at 9:00 PM and not PMAM Eastern on Mondays so you
- 46:56can catch her show. But all of us came to the
- 46:59platform and learned how to podcast.
- 47:02Travis kind of did his own thing, but he's on our platform
- 47:04too. But he's helping be on our board
- 47:07and teach our veterans how to podcast.
- 47:10And he's got students of his own that he's teaching.
- 47:13So he really is teaching the craft too to his different
- 47:17students that he works with. So we really appreciate what MJ
- 47:21and what Travis are doing. And MJ is a really good resource
- 47:26for self help and self healing. And the sky is not the limit.
- 47:30You're right, MJ, I'm sorry. So the limit, it's limitless
- 47:35what you can do. So let's just put it there
- 47:37instead of giving us a boundary. We don't have a boundary.
- 47:39So we're thinking outside the box tonight.
- 47:44But so if you want to be a DJ though, if you really love music
- 47:47and you really love radio, you can record a show and we can
- 47:51play it or you can go live. So we have live DJs and we have
- 47:55pre recorded DJs. We have both and both are very
- 47:59well received amongst the audience and our audience goes
- 48:02all over the world. You would be really surprised to
- 48:04hear how many countries we're in because I was, we're in France,
- 48:09Colombia, we're we're in Russia, Mexico, Holland.
- 48:18I know Germany. Germany, yeah, we we're all over
- 48:21the place. So you can catch us at MB Radio
- 48:24dot US and you can listen live there or you can download the
- 48:27app and you can listen there. You can take us with you
- 48:30wherever you go. I listen in my car all day long.
- 48:32I take my phone and I turn on the app and I've got the best
- 48:36music all day long. And most for the most part it's
- 48:38commercial free too. And most of it's good for office
- 48:43hearing. But some some songs may little
- 48:46be a little iffy. You may have to turn it down a
- 48:47time or two. But for the most part, you can
- 48:50listen at work and not have your boss be upset.
- 48:55I hope that I did not cuss during this interview, I was
- 48:58just thinking about the treasure and if I did, I apologize.
- 49:02Well, we might be able to airbrush it out, airbrush the
- 49:08audio. It just dawned on me.
- 49:11I'm like, oh boy, I think I said something that anyways, but
- 49:15yeah, you know, give us a, give us a shot.
- 49:18What? What do you have to lose it?
- 49:21It's, it's, it's not going to cost you guys anything, you
- 49:24know. So come on by and, and we'll,
- 49:30we'll, we'll print, we'll 3D print something together.
- 49:35Right. Look at that MBR bringing people
- 49:38together. Right.
- 49:40Yeah, MJ and I met on this platform and I actually was on
- 49:44duty in Miami and she was a Miami host at the time.
- 49:49So I said, hey, why don't we get together?
- 49:52And she agreed. And so we spent some time
- 49:54together and hung out. So, you know, really, this is a
- 49:56community. It's a place where you can make
- 50:00lasting friendships, where you can help one another, you know,
- 50:03through whatever you're going through.
- 50:06It really is a place for all. It's not just, you know, even if
- 50:10you don't really want to do any of those things, you don't want
- 50:13to podcast, you don't want to animate, you don't want to learn
- 50:15how to 3D print, you don't want to be on the radio, but you just
- 50:18want to hang out with other veterans and just support each
- 50:21other. We have those too.
- 50:23Well, you know, while I have this guy on here, you know, I
- 50:29want, I want to, I want to give Tim a real quick shout out
- 50:32because The thing is, is that you and you and MJ have friended
- 50:38him. And when I tell you who he is,
- 50:41you and MJ are going to be like, oh, wow.
- 50:45So I went to you guys when you first started and I was really
- 50:50worried about a soldier in Florida that needed some help,
- 50:55PTSDS, you know, stuff like that.
- 50:58Do you Remember Me talking about that?
- 51:01That was Tim. Tim is now doing a lot better.
- 51:06He's getting ready to do some kind of like MDT training or
- 51:10whatever, but like, like he has made a complete 180.
- 51:17And you know, I mean that that's just an example what the station
- 51:23does. And like you guys didn't even
- 51:25know that that that was him. I just wanted to show you in, in
- 51:30real life, Hey, that's a veteran that you guys have that that's,
- 51:36that's a veteran that you guys helped.
- 51:38That's. Awesome.
- 51:39I just wanted to bring that to your attention, that's all.
- 51:41Well, thank you. Congratulations, Tim on getting
- 51:45yourself in a good place. And if you ever need help or
- 51:48support, we're here. I'd probably embarrassed him.
- 51:58No, I don't. I don't think so.
- 52:00He he seems like he's a pretty Hardy dude.
- 52:03He can, He can. Handle this he.
- 52:05Can handle it so if. You I haven't got a text from
- 52:08him yet, so I don't. He's like, stop it.
- 52:13Right. So what else would you tell
- 52:17somebody in the audience that's thinking about doing one of
- 52:19these things? How how would you tell them to
- 52:22start? What?
- 52:23So you said make a, make an appointment.
- 52:25But if they're afraid to make an appointment, like, how can they
- 52:29take the first baby steps to get to get something they can?
- 52:33They can. They can give us a call, you
- 52:36know, they can find out, you know, you know what, what's
- 52:40radio station like, or you know how things are going or, you
- 52:45know, if they just have questions, you know, it's
- 52:47totally questions. I, I always say that the, the
- 52:51hardest thing to do is to get somebody to the door.
- 52:55And the reason why is because think about it, you know, if
- 52:58you're going to some place and you don't really know where it
- 53:02is because you've never been to their house or anything.
- 53:05So you already got the stress traffic and you got the stress
- 53:09of, you know, going to grab something before you go to the
- 53:12event, right? And then on top of it, you're
- 53:16sitting there trying to find parking.
- 53:18And sometimes, you know, when you reach out to somebody, hey,
- 53:21you want to go out. Honestly, that's one of the
- 53:25reasons why they say Nah, you know, I'm just not feeling like
- 53:28it because you have no idea what's went through their day.
- 53:33And it's really stressful sometimes to find a location or
- 53:37find the building. So that's my that, that's my
- 53:42encouragement is, you know, reach out and try to go
- 53:47somewhere different. Try, try to come by the MBR
- 53:51building, give us a call, you know, whatever it is.
- 53:56We just want to help you find an outlet.
- 53:59You know, and I think I speak for all of us here, all the
- 54:02hosts that you know, if MBR isn't your outlet, we will help
- 54:08you find a nonprofit or another navigation tool that can help
- 54:14you succeed on your journey. That's what we're here about.
- 54:20Absolutely, because we do have have a lot of resources, people
- 54:25that come to us with different things that they offer.
- 54:27And so if we aren't your resource, like H Train said, if
- 54:31you, if we're not your resource, we can find a community maybe
- 54:35where you fit better or where you want to be, or just a
- 54:38resource to help you with what you're going through at the
- 54:40time. Because the last thing you want
- 54:42to do is feel like you have to do everything alone.
- 54:46You know, on this platform and the other platforms with the
- 54:49nonprofits, no one should ever feel alone.
- 54:52There should be some place where you fit in.
- 54:54If it's not here, then it could be there.
- 54:57It could be learning to camp, learning to hike, learning to
- 55:04maybe do bows and arrows. I mean, participating in the
- 55:08Wounded Warrior events that they have once a year.
- 55:13You know, there's always something for for you, depending
- 55:15upon what your abilities or what your hobbies are or what you'd
- 55:18like to do. There's something for everyone.
- 55:20So don't feel like just because this one isn't yours, that there
- 55:24isn't something that's out there for you because we should be
- 55:27able to connect you. We have a lot of people that are
- 55:30in a lot of different organizations and they can be
- 55:33your resource. So reach out and just let us
- 55:37know because we're here to help. And like I said, if you just
- 55:40want to hang out with us and we have people that are in our chat
- 55:43that don't do a radio show. They are host a music show.
- 55:48They just want to be part of the conversation and help support a
- 55:51nonprofit. And we appreciate everyone
- 55:53that's helping us in the chat or in just in general being part of
- 55:58our community because we need everyone.
- 56:00We need people that just spread the word.
- 56:03When people spread the word by their podcast or by their music
- 56:08or by sharing on Facebook if they have a radio show and
- 56:12they're putting out positive messages.
- 56:14Like maybe the motivated mindset with Jose Flores.
- 56:18He's a very passionate motivator and he does a lot of things for
- 56:23MBR and a lot of things for veterans, so he can probably
- 56:26plug you into something too. We've got several different
- 56:29shows and hosts that really can make help you in your daily life
- 56:33and make a difference for you. Yeah.
- 56:36You know, and the really the real important thing is, you
- 56:39know, when you come to MBR, you kind of, I know, I know you, you
- 56:46can kind of put MBR on your resume.
- 56:49Because one thing that we do that's really important here is
- 56:54we teach you how to conduct, how to produce.
- 56:58We, we teach you how to do the whole show.
- 57:01You know, you might be good, but you know, there might be some
- 57:04things that we can teach you to make you even better.
- 57:08You know, we've, we've already had a couple of interns, you
- 57:12know, left the nest and they're doing incredible.
- 57:15They're doing incredible work. They really are, you know, and
- 57:19that can be you too. And it's not too late.
- 57:21You're not too old. I'm I'm 48, so you know, but
- 57:27come, come give us a try. Yeah, absolutely.
- 57:32And if you can help support us by donations, we're always up to
- 57:37take those as well because every dollar does go right back into
- 57:41helping veterans, giving veterans a voice, things to help
- 57:46with veteran programming, just supplies that are needed.
- 57:50All that money goes right back in to help veterans in whatever
- 57:53we're doing. What if whatever platform
- 57:55they're on, they're supporting Stream Yard or supporting by
- 58:00keeping the lights on in the studio, But all the money goes
- 58:03right back in. No one's taking a salary.
- 58:05We're all volunteers and we're all here to help.
- 58:08So feel like you're getting to A5O1C3 that's making a
- 58:12difference. I think we are.
- 58:14And. I think we're trying.
- 58:15To do that. Hey, I'll even take foot
- 58:17pictures. I'll take, I'll take feet
- 58:20pictures. All right, Somebody's out there
- 58:22willing to pay for feet pictures of donation.
- 58:25You know, we, we couldn't just write.
- 58:28I, I, I will take pictures of my feet.
- 58:30Just just throwing it out there. Hopefully that won't be
- 58:34necessary. We're hoping it's not necessary.
- 58:38Well, do you have any final thoughts before we close up the
- 58:40show? You know the only final thought
- 58:44this is. Your time to shine.
- 58:45Yeah, you know, And the only final thought is, you know, if
- 58:50you're looking around and you ain't got no friends, go be that
- 58:54friend. True.
- 58:57Yeah, I love that. That's true.
- 59:00Everyone should have someone they can talk to.
- 59:03So if you don't have that someone, find someone that you
- 59:05can be a friend to and help them through a rough spot.
- 59:11I love it. Well, thank you for joining in a
- 59:13pinch there H train because my guest didn't show up, but we did
- 59:17get to hear his music. So maybe I'll have him on
- 59:19another time. But I really am excited to have
- 59:21talked about what we're doing here at MBR because I think it's
- 59:25really important. And I think you know, learning
- 59:28more about the platform and learning more about what we do
- 59:30is always definitely a good, a good opportunity to kind of
- 59:34really say our message or give our get our message out.
- 59:39I think so too. I think so too.
- 59:41And yeah, come on by or give us a call everybody.
- 59:47We're we're open pretty much 24/7.
- 59:51Sounds good. I will say one final.
- 59:53Let's see what we got. Oh, MJ is she's giving us some
- 59:58props, I think for MBR. I love it.
