- 0:22Ron Meyers: Hello, my friends.
- 0:23Ron Meyers: Welcome to Get the Hell Out of Your Life.
- 0:25Ron Meyers: I'm your host, Ron Myers, and today I'm putting on my preacher hat.
- 0:31Ron Meyers: It's about the election.
- 0:32Ron Meyers: It's about politics.
- 0:34Ron Meyers: It's about Christians and voting.
- 0:36Ron Meyers: Are you ready to listen?
- 0:38Ron Meyers: Because I think this is one of the most important messages that I have ever shared.
- 0:44Ron Meyers: We're living through a season when conversations can become tense quickly.
- 0:49Ron Meyers: Politics can feel personal.
- 0:51Ron Meyers: People worry about the future, disagree deeply about what is right, and sometimes wonder whether the country or even the world is coming apart.
- 1:01Ron Meyers: So let's begin today with a simple truth.
- 1:03Ron Meyers: We don't have to be surprised by conflict, and we don't have to be ruled by it.
- 1:10Ron Meyers: Jesus spoke honestly about life in this world.
- 1:14Ron Meyers: He didn't promise his followers a trouble-free path or tell them that every situation would turn out the way they hoped.
- 1:22Ron Meyers: He said, In the world you will have tribulation.
- 1:26Ron Meyers: But he didn't stop there.
- 1:31Ron Meyers: I have overcome the world.
- 1:34Ron Meyers: That promise doesn't ask us to pretend everything is fine.
- 1:39Ron Meyers: It gives us a steady place to stand when everything isn't fine.
- 1:45Ron Meyers: God is not surprised by the turmoil of our time.
- 1:48Ron Meyers: He is not shaken by an election, a headline, or a season of disagreement.
- 1:54Ron Meyers: He is king.
- 1:56Ron Meyers: Not because our preferred candidate wins and not because the news becomes reassuring.
- 2:03Ron Meyers: He is king because he is the risen Lord.
- 2:07Ron Meyers: Now, our hope is bigger than an election.
- 2:11Ron Meyers: An election matters.
- 2:13Ron Meyers: Decisions made by leaders can affect real people's lives, and it is understandable that people care deeply about what lies ahead.
- 2:22Ron Meyers: We don't need to shame one another for being concerned, and we don't need to pretend that public decisions have no consequences.
- 2:32Ron Meyers: But an election is not the foundation of our hope.
- 2:36Ron Meyers: No candidate can give us the life Christ gives.
- 2:40Ron Meyers: No party can take his place.
- 2:43Ron Meyers: And no political outcome can determine whether God loves us, whether Jesus has finished his work, or whether the future belongs to him.
- 2:54Ron Meyers: You see, our hope is anchored in Christ.
- 2:57Ron Meyers: Believers are loved, forgiven, and secure, not because we have figured out every issue or picked the perfect side, but because Jesus gave himself for us and now lives in us by his spirit.
- 3:12Ron Meyers: That is a deeper security than the promise of easy times.
- 3:17Ron Meyers: It also gives us freedom to care about public life without asking it to carry the weight of our souls.
- 3:25Ron Meyers: We can think seriously, we can vote thoughtfully and speak honestly while remembering that the kingdom of God is not held together by our anxiety.
- 3:38Ron Meyers: We are not responsible for controlling every outcome.
- 3:42Ron Meyers: We can place the outcome in God's hands and remain present to the people right in front of us.
- 3:51Ron Meyers: People are not our enemies.
- 3:54Ron Meyers: One of the easiest things to do in a divided season is to turn a disagreement into a verdict about someone's character.
- 4:03Ron Meyers: We stop seeing a neighbor, relative, or coworker and begin seeing a label.
- 4:11Ron Meyers: We assume the worst, we mock, we dismiss, we speak as if the other person is the problem to be defeated.
- 4:19Ron Meyers: But scripture gives us a different perspective.
- 4:22Ron Meyers: Our struggle is not against flesh and blood.
- 4:27Ron Meyers: That means the person across the table is not the enemy.
- 4:32Ron Meyers: The person who votes differently is not the enemy.
- 4:36Ron Meyers: The person who doesn't understand our concerns is not the enemy.
- 4:41Ron Meyers: We can disagree without treating people as enemies.
- 4:45Ron Meyers: We can be clear about what we believe without being cruel.
- 4:50Ron Meyers: We can name what seems harmful or wrong without taking pleasure in humiliating someone.
- 4:58Ron Meyers: The way we speak matters because the person listening matters to God, and gentleness is not weak.
- 5:07Ron Meyers: Listening is not the same as agreeing.
- 5:10Ron Meyers: Respect does not require us to abandon our convictions.
- 5:15Ron Meyers: It means we remember that the person in front of us is more than an argument and that we too need grace.
- 5:24Ron Meyers: The apostle Peter says to be ready to explain the hope we have, but to do it with gentleness and respect.
- 5:33Ron Meyers: Now that's a beautiful picture.
- 5:36Ron Meyers: Hope that is clear but not harsh.
- 5:39Ron Meyers: Conviction without contempt.
- 5:42Ron Meyers: We don't have to raise the temperature to prove we care.
- 5:46Ron Meyers: We can speak truthfully and still make room for a real conversation.
- 5:52Ron Meyers: We need to let Christ's love be seen.
- 5:56Ron Meyers: So what might it look like for the light of Christ to be seen in us during a divided season?
- 6:03Ron Meyers: It may look like refusing to pass along a rumor just because it supports our side.
- 6:09Ron Meyers: It may mean asking a question before making an accusation.
- 6:15Ron Meyers: It could mean listening carefully to someone whose experience is different from ours or declining to join in when a conversation turns into ridicule.
- 6:26Ron Meyers: These are not ways to earn God's favor.
- 6:30Ron Meyers: In Christ, we are already accepted.
- 6:34Ron Meyers: We are not trying to become loved by behaving well enough.
- 6:39Ron Meyers: We are learning to live from the love we have already received.
- 6:44Ron Meyers: That matters.
- 6:45Ron Meyers: If we believe God's acceptance is fragile, we may treat other people's disagreement as a threat.
- 6:53Ron Meyers: But the gospel gives us a secure place to stand.
- 6:58Ron Meyers: Jesus has removed our sins through the cross.
- 7:01Ron Meyers: His resurrection is our life and righteousness, and his spirit is with us permanently.
- 7:08Ron Meyers: We can admit when we have spoken carelessly, take responsibility, and make things right with another person.
- 7:17Ron Meyers: Not to get God to forgive us again, but because his love is already ours and his life is at work in us.
- 7:26Ron Meyers: We can offer our lives to God as Romans 12:1 describes, trusting that he can express the life of Christ through us in the ordinary moments of conversation, family life, work, and community.
- 7:42Ron Meyers: His love is not reserved for people who agree with us.
- 7:47Ron Meyers: The person we find difficult to understand is still someone God loves.
- 7:53Ron Meyers: Courage without fear.
- 7:56Ron Meyers: A divided season can tempt us towards two extremes.
- 8:00Ron Meyers: One is panic, everything depends on us, and if our side loses, all is lost.
- 8:07Ron Meyers: The other is withdrawal.
- 8:08Ron Meyers: Nothing matters, so why care?
- 8:11Ron Meyers: Neither gives us the steady, compassionate courage of Jesus.
- 8:17Ron Meyers: We can care deeply without being consumed.
- 8:20Ron Meyers: We can grieve what is painful without deciding that hope is gone.
- 8:25Ron Meyers: We can work for what we believe is good while remembering that we are not the savior of the world.
- 8:33Ron Meyers: Jesus is.
- 8:34Ron Meyers: And because Jesus is king, we can face uncertainty without pretending that we know exactly what will happen.
- 8:43Ron Meyers: We may not control the outcome of an election or the direction of a nation, but we can trust the one who has overcome the world.
- 8:53Ron Meyers: We can be present, prayerful, thoughtful, and kind, not because everything feels secure, but because our security is in Christ.
- 9:03Ron Meyers: Let's be courageous but not contemptuous, clear, but not cruel, concerned, but not consumed.
- 9:12Ron Meyers: Let's hold our convictions with humility and our neighbors with compassion.
- 9:18Ron Meyers: The world may be divided, but our hope is not.
- 9:22Ron Meyers: Jesus is King.
- 9:24Ron Meyers: In him we are loved, forgiven, and secure.
- 9:27Ron Meyers: And from that secure place we can let his love shine, not only in what we say and believe, but in how we treat one another.
- 9:37Ron Meyers: You know, it's easy to feel passionate during an election season.
- 9:42Ron Meyers: We follow the news, talk about the candidates, defend the issues we care about, and hope for an outcome that we believe will help our communities.
- 9:51Ron Meyers: Caring about these things isn't wrong.
- 9:54Ron Meyers: Public decisions affect real people, and thoughtful participation matters.
- 10:01Ron Meyers: But it's worth asking ourselves, is the passion we show for our candidate also visible in the way we speak about Jesus and the way we treat people?
- 10:13Ron Meyers: The point isn't to love Jesus by becoming louder, angrier, or more combative, nor is it to prove our faith by winning every argument.
- 10:24Ron Meyers: Jesus said that people would recognize his disciples by their love for one another.
- 10:31Ron Meyers: Our love for him is meant to show up in our patience, our honesty, our courage, and our care for people, even when we disagree.
- 10:41Ron Meyers: A candidate can represent ideas we value, but no candidate is the king.
- 10:48Ron Meyers: No party can forgive our sins, give us new life, or make us secure with God.
- 10:54Ron Meyers: Jesus has done what no political leader can do.
- 10:58Ron Meyers: Through his death and resurrection, he has brought us to God.
- 11:03Ron Meyers: Believers are forgiven, accepted, and united with Christ, not because we have been politically successful or morally impressive, but because of his grace.
- 11:16Ron Meyers: Now that security frees us.
- 11:18Ron Meyers: We can care about public life without making politics our deepest hope.
- 11:24Ron Meyers: We can speak clearly without treating our neighbors as enemies, and we can disagree without mockery or contempt.
- 11:32Ron Meyers: As 1 Peter 3.15 says, we are to share our hope with gentleness and respect.
- 11:39Ron Meyers: Gentleness doesn't mean we have no convictions, it means our convictions are expressed in a way that remembers the dignity of the person listening.
- 11:49Ron Meyers: Being passionate for Jesus also means letting his love shape our public witness.
- 11:56Ron Meyers: Before we post, speak, or respond, we can ask: does this reflect the Jesus I say I follow?
- 12:05Ron Meyers: Am I telling the truth?
- 12:07Ron Meyers: Am I listening?
- 12:08Ron Meyers: Am I treating this person as someone God loves?
- 12:13Ron Meyers: Now, these aren't steps to earn God's approval.
- 12:16Ron Meyers: In Christ, we already have his acceptance.
- 12:20Ron Meyers: We live from that grace, trusting his spirit to express the life of Jesus through us.
- 12:27Ron Meyers: So let's be engaged but not consumed.
- 12:31Ron Meyers: Let's care about what happens in our country while remembering that our ultimate hope is not in an election.
- 12:40Ron Meyers: Let's speak with conviction but refuse contempt.
- 12:44Ron Meyers: And let's be known not only for the candidate we support, but for the savior we trust.
- 12:50Ron Meyers: The passion of Jesus is not a campaign slogan.
- 12:54Ron Meyers: It is the steady confidence that He is king, the joy of knowing we are loved and forgiven, and the freedom to love people who may not see things as we do.
- 13:06Ron Meyers: We can offer our lives to God and let his love be seen through us.
- 13:13Ron Meyers: May our words and actions make this clear.
- 13:17Ron Meyers: Jesus is our hope.
- 13:19Ron Meyers: Jesus is our life, and his love is greater than the divisions around us.
- 13:25Ron Meyers: Yes, Jesus is King, risen, reigning, and Lord over all.
- 13:31Ron Meyers: He brings believers into his kingdom, and his spirit lives in us.
- 13:36Ron Meyers: We belong to him and share in his life.
- 13:40Ron Meyers: His kingship isn't a demand that you earn your place.
- 13:45Ron Meyers: In Christ, you are already welcomed, forgiven, and secure.
- 13:50Ron Meyers: You're right that Jesus told his followers to expect trouble and opposition in the world.
- 13:57Ron Meyers: We don't need to be shocked or afraid when people resist the message of Christ.
- 14:02Ron Meyers: He is king, and our hope rests in him, not in a calm or agreeable world.
- 14:08Ron Meyers: And our light shines best when courage is joined with gentleness.
- 14:13Ron Meyers: People who disagree aren't all the same, and we can speak truth without treating them as enemies.
- 14:20Ron Meyers: Peter says to give an answer for our hope with gentleness and respect.
- 14:26Ron Meyers: We may suffer, but that doesn't mean God has abandoned us or that we are under his judgment.
- 14:34Ron Meyers: In Christ, we remain loved, forgiven, and secure.
- 14:38Ron Meyers: After all, why should we be surprised when the world is full of conflict?
- 14:43Ron Meyers: Jesus told his followers that trouble would come.
- 14:46Ron Meyers: But he also added, Take courage, I have overcome the world.
- 14:50Ron Meyers: We don't have to be naive about division or ruled by fear.
- 14:54Ron Meyers: An election matters, and people may feel deeply concerned about what lies ahead.
- 14:59Ron Meyers: But no election determines whether Jesus is king.
- 15:03Ron Meyers: Our hope is anchored in him, not a candidate party or promise of easy times.
- 15:07Ron Meyers: We can grieve what is painful and still trust.
- 15:10Ron Meyers: Weeping may last for the night, but a shot of joy comes in the morning.
- 15:14Ron Meyers: As the world feels darker, may the light of Christ be seen in us, not only in our convictions, but in our kindness.
- 15:23Ron Meyers: Our struggle is not against people who disagree with us.
- 15:27Ron Meyers: We can speak honestly about what we believe without mocking or dismissing others.
- 15:33Ron Meyers: Scripture calls us to share our hope with gentleness and respect.
- 15:38Ron Meyers: So, yes, be courageous.
- 15:40Ron Meyers: Keep your eyes on Jesus and let his love be visible in how you treat people, including those who oppose you.
- 15:50Ron Meyers: I'm going to take a break, and when I return, let's talk about a new beginning, meeting Jesus, and receiving his life.
- 15:58Ron Meyers: Stay with me.
- 15:59Announcer: You're listening to Get the Hell Out of Your Life with your host, Ron Myers.
- 16:04Announcer: Real stories, real struggles, and real hope.

- 16:16SPEAKER_04: Life.
- 16:17SPEAKER_04: Hope.

- 17:08Announcer: How do you get the hell out of your life?
- 17:10Announcer: Get on your knees and cry out to the Lord.
- 17:13Announcer: He hears you right where you are.
- 17:14Announcer: How to get the hell out of your life?
- 17:16Announcer: Well, you replace it with Jesus.
- 17:17Announcer: We got to be born again, born of the Spirit, and that's by trusting Jesus Christ, turning from our sins and trusting Jesus.
- 17:23Announcer: How do you get the hell out of your life?
- 17:24Announcer: Oh gosh.
- 17:25Ron Meyers: Jesus.
- 17:26Ron Meyers: Jesus.
- 17:27Ron Meyers: Jesus, Jesus, Jesus.
- 17:29Ron Meyers: Welcome back, my friends.
- 17:31Ron Meyers: I want to speak especially to anyone listening who isn't sure where they stand with God or who has never personally trusted Jesus.
- 17:40Ron Meyers: You don't need to pretend you have everything figured out.
- 17:44Ron Meyers: You may have questions, doubts, or regrets.
- 17:47Ron Meyers: Perhaps you have been around church for years, or perhaps this is all new to you.
- 17:52Ron Meyers: Wherever you're starting from, Jesus' invitation is not get your life perfect, then come to me.
- 18:00Ron Meyers: His invitation is come to me.
- 18:02Ron Meyers: The Christian message isn't mainly about trying harder to become a good person.
- 18:08Ron Meyers: It's the good news that God came to us in Jesus and offers forgiveness and new life as a gift.
- 18:17Ron Meyers: The Bible says that God loved the world and gave his son so that whoever believes in him may have eternal life.
- 18:27Ron Meyers: That means God's love is not reserved for people who have earned it.
- 18:33Ron Meyers: Jesus came for people who need him, which is all of us.
- 18:38Ron Meyers: We all know what it is to fall short.
- 18:41Ron Meyers: We hurt people, we act selfishly, we hold on to bitterness, or we try to make life work without God.
- 18:50Ron Meyers: The Bible calls this sin.
- 18:53Ron Meyers: Sin is more than breaking a list of rules, it is the human problem of being separated from the life and goodness of God.
- 19:02Ron Meyers: And we can't fix that problem by promising to do better, attending a service, or trying to make up for the past.
- 19:11Ron Meyers: But God did not leave us to fix ourselves.
- 19:15Ron Meyers: Jesus came to bring us back to God.
- 19:19Ron Meyers: He lived in love and truth, died on the cross for our sins, and rose from the dead.
- 19:25Ron Meyers: The cross shows us how seriously God takes our sin and how deeply he loves us.
- 19:32Ron Meyers: Jesus took our sins upon himself so that forgiveness could be given freely.
- 19:39Ron Meyers: His resurrection means he's alive and that new life is available to everyone who trusts him.
- 19:46Ron Meyers: The Bible puts it this way: God demonstrates his own love towards us, and that while yet we were sinners, Christ died for us.
- 19:58Ron Meyers: Notice that God's love came towards us before we even cleaned up ourselves.
- 20:04Ron Meyers: Jesus did not wait for us to become worthy, he acted because he loves us.
- 20:11Ron Meyers: And salvation is not a prize for good behavior.
- 20:15Ron Meyers: It is God's gift received through faith.
- 20:19Ron Meyers: Ephesians 2, verse 8 and 9 said, We are saved by grace through faith, not as a result of our own works, so that nobody can boast.
- 20:31Ron Meyers: We don't earn a place in God's family.
- 20:35Ron Meyers: We receive what Jesus has done for us.
- 20:39Ron Meyers: What does it mean to believe in Jesus?
- 20:42Ron Meyers: It means more than agreeing that he existed or knowing facts about him.
- 20:47Ron Meyers: It means placing your trust in him, trusting that he died for you, that he rose again, and that he is the one who gives you life with God.
- 20:58Ron Meyers: You can come to him honestly with your questions and your need.
- 21:03Ron Meyers: You don't have to bring a perfect record.
- 21:06Ron Meyers: You come trusting the Savior.
- 21:10Ron Meyers: When someone receives Jesus, God doesn't simply give them a fresh set of rules and tell them to manage alone, He gives them new life.
- 21:21Ron Meyers: The Bible says that anyone who is in Christ is a new creation.
- 21:26Ron Meyers: God forgives, welcomes, and makes that person his own.
- 21:32Ron Meyers: The Holy Spirit comes to live in them, and they are united with Christ.
- 21:38Ron Meyers: Their life with God begins as a gift, not as a reward.
- 21:42Ron Meyers: They have to keep earning.
- 21:44Ron Meyers: That doesn't mean a Christian will never make a mistake or have a question.
- 21:48Ron Meyers: It means that failure does not make Jesus stop loving them, and growth is not a way to persuade God to accept them.
- 21:58Ron Meyers: God's acceptance.
- 22:00Ron Meyers: Rest on Jesus and his finished work.
- 22:04Ron Meyers: As we learn to trust him, his life begins to shape how we think, speak, and treat people.
- 22:10Ron Meyers: We grow from a secure place, knowing we belong to him.
- 22:15Ron Meyers: Now perhaps you're thinking, I want that, but I'm not sure I know how to pray.
- 22:20Ron Meyers: There is no special wording that saves you.
- 22:23Ron Meyers: Prayer is simply speaking honestly to God.
- 22:27Ron Meyers: You could say something like this God, I need you.
- 22:31Ron Meyers: I believe Jesus is your Son, and that He died for my sins, and that you raised Him from the dead.
- 22:38Ron Meyers: I'm putting my trust in Jesus.
- 22:40Ron Meyers: Thank you for forgiving me and giving me new life.
- 22:44Ron Meyers: I receive your gift and I want to know you.
- 22:48Ron Meyers: Thank you, that I belong to you through Jesus.
- 22:52Ron Meyers: Amen.
- 22:53Ron Meyers: If those words expressed your trust, you can pray them now or speak to God in your own words.
- 23:00Ron Meyers: The prayer itself is not magic, and repeating someone else's words is not what saves you.
- 23:06Ron Meyers: Jesus saves.
- 23:07Ron Meyers: The important thing is trusting Him.
- 23:11Ron Meyers: If you choose to trust Jesus, here's what happened.
- 23:15Ron Meyers: You have received God's gift of life through Christ.
- 23:18Ron Meyers: Your sins are forgiven through Jesus' sacrifice, and you are welcomed into God's family.
- 23:25Ron Meyers: You are not beginning a relationship in which God accepts you only when you perform well.
- 23:30Ron Meyers: You are beginning a life with the one who loves you and has made you his own.
- 23:36Ron Meyers: Now you may feel something strongly right now, or you may feel very little.
- 23:41Ron Meyers: Your feelings don't determine whether Jesus is faithful.
- 23:44Ron Meyers: Our confidence rests in what he has done and his promise to receive those who come to him.
- 23:51Ron Meyers: Jesus said, The one who comes to me, I will certainly not cast out.
- 23:58Ron Meyers: So if you trusted Jesus today, you don't have to walk alone.
- 24:03Ron Meyers: Tell a Christian you trust what has happened and ask them to help you understand the Bible and find a church where the good news of Jesus is taught with care.
- 24:14Ron Meyers: And if you're not ready to make that decision, you don't need to pretend.
- 24:18Ron Meyers: You can keep asking questions and considering who Jesus is.
- 24:22Ron Meyers: His invitation is open.
- 24:24Ron Meyers: Come to him, trust him, and receive the life he gives.
- 24:29Ron Meyers: Now, my final thought about the election.
- 24:32Ron Meyers: And I wrote this really for me, but I think it can speak to every believer.
- 24:37Ron Meyers: My first allegiance is to Jesus Christ.
- 24:40Ron Meyers: In this election, I want my words and choices to reflect both truth and love.
- 24:44Ron Meyers: I believe every human life has God given dignity, including the unborn.
- 24:49Ron Meyers: And I want to speak honestly about sex and gender while treating every person with compassion and respect.
- 24:56Ron Meyers: I stand against anti-Semitism and for the safety and dignity of the Jewish people in Israelis.
- 25:03Ron Meyers: I hope for peace and security for Israel and its neighbors.
- 25:07Ron Meyers: And I grieve the suffering of civilians on every side.
- 25:11Ron Meyers: I want to hold these convictions with humility, kindness, and a willingness to listen, not contempt, and to seek justice and peace for all.
- 25:22Ron Meyers: Friends, voting is a personal choice.
- 25:25Ron Meyers: It's between you and God.
