- 0:00SPEAKER_04: Today we are on the Reborn Podcast, and we get to interview Tony, who is the host of Reborn Podcast.
- 0:09SPEAKER_05: Hi Tony.
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: Hey, how's it going?
- 0:13SPEAKER_05: Blessed day.
- 0:14SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 0:14SPEAKER_05: We're so excited to be here.
- 0:16SPEAKER_05: How are you feeling?
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: I'm feeling great.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: Feeling healed, feeling peace, feeling joy, feeling love, kind, gentle, good, faithful, preparing, self-control.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: In Jesus' name.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: Yes! I feel protected by the armor of God.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: The helmet of salvation.
- 0:34SPEAKER_05: Rapid fire.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: The spirits of peace.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: The shield of it.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: The shield of the field.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: Is it shield of salvation?
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: So what is the helmet?
- 0:44SPEAKER_05: Helmet of the I know it's the breastplate of right of space.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: Breastplate of right to face Sword of Spirit.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: Shield of the Shield of Faith.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: I thought and then it's helmet of a fully faith.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: And then it's shield of faith.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: So I'm feeling fully protected, fully healed, fully uh in love with you.
- 1:06SPEAKER_04: Well, we're excited to be here today, and we're excited to get to talk to you about your story, the Reborn Podcast, what your life was like before the Lord, how you felt the Lord, all of the things that we're talking about.
- 1:30SPEAKER_05: Reborn Podcast, where'd you get the name?
- 1:32SPEAKER_05: What's the vision?
- 1:34SPEAKER_05: How'd it come about?
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah, absolutely.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: Great question.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: And I'm excited.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: Reborn Podcast actually was called a Reborn Podcast before I was reborn, about a year prior to when I was reborn.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: And it was due to feeling reborn in not in a bad way, but like in a worldly way.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: Um, where you know the first thing that happened with my transformation was my health.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: So right now I'm around like 185, 190.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: I used to be 260 pounds, 260.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: Um, and so I had lost a lot of weight, I had started getting better mental health, and I felt reborn.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: And so I woke up with that word on my heart one day and called it a reborn podcast.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: And yeah, the vision for the vision for the podcast, ultimately, it started as just my own personal development journey, sharing that kind of with myself.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: Um, but ultimately it's led to uh where I'm able to sit down with people like yourselves and also share my own uh you know what I'm going through.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: And you know, the Lord is taking me down a road that is in the world seen as successful, and from an outside perspective, oh that guy has it all, or anything, you know, some stuff like that.
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: I have it all because I have Jesus, not because it's of anything in the world that I have, and still with Jesus, we know that we will go through trials, but that he will always sustain us.
- 3:09SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: And so I just want to, with the podcast, share what's going great.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: Like the business is growing, the podcast is, you know, getting relaunched, health is I I've never felt more peace and more joy, uh, more spirit-led than I do right now.
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: But I there's still things that are um you know vulnerable that I'm walking through, and just having that vulnerability to show people that doesn't matter who you are, what season of life you're you're in, you're always gonna be walking through challenges.
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: But again, the Lord will always sustain you.
- 3:49SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 3:50SPEAKER_04: Oh, thank you for sharing that.
- 3:53SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I think before we get into anything else, I think we would love to just hear your story, um, hear where you came from, um, and just learn a little bit more about like how you found Jesus.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: So I am a second slash third um generation immigrant.
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: My dad is first gen from uh Egypt.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: My mom was born here, her parents were Colombia and Mexico.
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: Um that doesn't have a ton to do with my testimony, but just for context, um really my testimony started, I would say, in third grade.
- 4:29SPEAKER_00: I moved from Nora Elementary, which is more kind of inner city, uh smaller school.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: I was doing great.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: I tell people I was part of all the nerd bowls, the math bowl, the science bowl, uh spell bowl, all that kind of stuff.
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: I was like doing really good in school, had a good community, good friends.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: Um back then I was also I think in Iwana and uh which is a like kids' Bible study, and um Boy Scouts.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: So, but then in third grade, I moved to Carmel, and elementary was actually pretty fun.
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: I remember at recess we would play boy girl tag where like all the boys would chase all the girls one day, and then like the next day it's like the opposite, and you know at that age, like that's you know thoroughly.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: Um but then starting middle school, I was trying to find like my people, and I was drawn to the popular crowd, um, the athletes and whatnot, and um you know, I would try and like sit with them at lunch, um, and ultimately I led to that led to like I got really bullied and I didn't see anybody else except for that crowd.
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: Um and so I had I guess pride that stopped me from sitting with like anybody else or going to be friends with anybody else, um, even though like time after time I just kept getting rejected by that crowd.
- 5:55SPEAKER_00: Um and so really that led to isolation because again I didn't see anybody else and I was rejected by that crowd that I did see um because it seemed like they were like famous and had it all and um had everything together.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: Um so yeah, led to isolation, led to isolation, led to depression, um, severe social anxiety.
- 6:17SPEAKER_00: Bella, you were on recently and shared your testimony of literally being afraid to open your mouth to anybody, like even going to a restaurant and ordering food.
- 6:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 6:26SPEAKER_00: And I was the same way.
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: And I don't know if it I think it was sixth grade, started with intensive outpatient therapy um pretty much like year-round.
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: Um, and literally, I mean, I tell people like I was dead throughout uh middle school and high school because I would go home from school and like go sleep the rest of the night.
- 6:50SPEAKER_00: Um and then obviously, you know, with that came like with the isolation, spending all that time by yourself, you know, came like porn and masturbation and stuff like that.
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: Um and yeah, eventually, you know, basically with just that and the whole middle school, started high school, you know, with a little bit of hope that like there's just a bigger, bigger pool of people.
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: Um and so the first few months actually went well.
- 7:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I met this girl that I liked at the time.
- 7:25SPEAKER_00: Uh, she was from out of state, so I thought it was gonna be like a you know a fresh start.
- 7:29SPEAKER_00: Um, but she fast forward to actually homecoming, what we were just talking about.
- 7:38SPEAKER_00: Um, she ended up going with somebody else.
- 7:41SPEAKER_00: I had written like a very emotional like Snapchat message.
- 7:47SPEAKER_00: Um and but I saw her that night because we had like mutual friends, and I just told her she looked beautiful.
- 7:55SPEAKER_00: And um, you know, she and her date went and danced, and I if I remember correctly, I cried like that whole night, like in the bathroom.
- 8:05SPEAKER_00: Uh, and then we went to an after party, not her, but some some of our mutual friends, and yeah, that was actually a popular crowd there.
- 8:16SPEAKER_00: So then like I was on people's Snapchat stories, people making fun of like me being there, um, stuff like that.
- 8:22SPEAKER_00: So yeah, it really after that day it was basically back to middle school and you know, uh magnified because it's a school of three times the size.
- 8:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 8:31SPEAKER_00: Um after that, that was basically all of high school again.
- 8:37SPEAKER_00: Um inpatient therapy.
- 8:40SPEAKER_00: Um, I also have gotten in I want to say two physical fights with my uncle.
- 8:47SPEAKER_00: Um had put hands on other family members.
- 8:52SPEAKER_00: Um so you know, obviously I had a lack of self-control, and I saw red in another way, not what we were talking about on the previous podcast.
- 9:02SPEAKER_00: Um seeing red in a good way.
- 9:05SPEAKER_00: Um and you know, I was a guy who like put wall put holes in the wall um multiple times, stuff like that.
- 9:13SPEAKER_00: I got arrested one night um because I had put hands on my mom and on my little brother who's four years younger than me.
- 9:21SPEAKER_00: Um and yeah, got arrested.
- 9:27SPEAKER_00: Um my dad was actually not living with us at the time.
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: He had actually taken like six months not living with us because him and my mom had been fighting about me because of my attitude was like just so bad at that time.
- 9:39SPEAKER_00: Um and my grades were also bad because again, I would literally go home and like sleep the rest of the evening and just like didn't have any energy.
- 9:49SPEAKER_00: Um so like homework and I didn't study or anything like that.
- 9:53SPEAKER_00: Um so when I got arrested, I didn't like spend a night in jail or anything.
- 9:58SPEAKER_00: When I was just got arrested, got taken to the jail, um, was like just in the lobby for a few hours and my mom came to pick me up and yeah.
- 10:10SPEAKER_00: Um fast forward to senior year of high school.
- 10:15SPEAKER_00: I so like um Thanksgiving break-ish, somewhere around there.
- 10:23SPEAKER_00: Um I had I was actually in my parents, so we live in a two-story house with a full basement.
- 10:30SPEAKER_00: The basement's like basically its own apartment.
- 10:33SPEAKER_00: Um I was in the main floor master with like a king-size bed, like huge window, um like jacuzzi tub, night, like nice shower, like super nice place.
- 10:48SPEAKER_00: I had boarded myself in there um like with a a bookshelf or something like that, and like I had a big knife in there with me.
- 10:57SPEAKER_00: And so that is something I I never did, thank God.
- 11:00SPEAKER_00: It's like I never had physical self-harm with either stuff.
- 11:04SPEAKER_00: I never did any substances, um, alcohol or drugs or anything like that.
- 11:09SPEAKER_00: Um, I think I smoked weed like once and I drank like once, something like that.
- 11:13SPEAKER_00: Um but like I never cut myself anything like that.
- 11:16SPEAKER_00: But it was more so I guess I guess for the attention um of it all.
- 11:21SPEAKER_00: And yeah, so had boarded myself up, I wouldn't come out.
- 11:26SPEAKER_00: I think my dad was at work, he was living with with us again at that time.
- 11:30SPEAKER_00: Um I think they called my uncle, who lives about an hour away.
- 11:35SPEAKER_00: My uncle came, and they basically, you know, eventually I got out, and they gave me an old uh ultimatum, which was like either we called a cops, you go to inpatient, or you just get out of the house.
- 11:50SPEAKER_00: And like at the time I had a hundred dollars in my bank.
- 11:53SPEAKER_00: I obviously didn't want to be arrested.
- 11:57SPEAKER_00: And I also therapy felt like jail.
- 12:01SPEAKER_00: Um so you know, I chose what I guess was in my eyes the the least of three bad options, which was going to um therapy, I think, is what I chose.
- 12:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 12:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so they drove me to therapy.
- 12:20SPEAKER_00: I was checked into inpatient.
- 12:22SPEAKER_00: Uh I stayed there for like a week, and it literally felt like prison.
- 12:28SPEAKER_00: Um and I I mean I don't I've never been in prison, but I would imagine that's what it felt like.
- 12:33SPEAKER_00: Um like there was no, you know, the biggest thing I guess would be there's no dopamine.
- 12:38SPEAKER_00: Like, you know, people nowadays are just so addicted to screens and music and stuff like that.
- 12:43SPEAKER_00: Um there's none of that.
- 12:45SPEAKER_00: I remember it was like four or five days in, they literally just like they turned on the radio, it was like a Taylor Swift song.
- 12:49SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 12:50SPEAKER_00: And that just sounded like like heaven to my ears.
- 12:54SPEAKER_00: Just because like I hadn't had any outside um anything from outside in there with me.
- 13:02SPEAKER_00: Um I was in contact, like I had called my mom, I think, every night or something like that, my mom and my dad.
- 13:09SPEAKER_00: Um, and it was heartbreaking to me too, like even in that moment, because my mom's birthday is December 2nd, and I was in her um on that day.
- 13:18SPEAKER_00: I think I got out like December 4th or 5th or something, I don't know, something like that, uh, a couple days after.
- 13:23SPEAKER_00: Um Yeah, so got out.
- 13:28SPEAKER_00: Really didn't change much.
- 13:30SPEAKER_00: I mean, I remember coming home and you know, I felt relieved to be home, and I told my brother I loved him, and he he said it back, and that was huge.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: Um just because I felt like I had hurt so like everybody so much.
- 13:45SPEAKER_00: Um and actually it's it's really a blessing today because you know I'm I'm at a point in my life where I've developed, you know, obviously a lot from there to where he actually does like look up to me and respect me like an older brother.
- 13:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 13:59SPEAKER_00: Um but yeah, so got home, but still continued having fights, like uh verbal fights with my dad mostly.
- 14:09SPEAKER_00: So I got kicked out a few months, or not a few months, a few weeks later, um, or maybe like a month and a half, like mid-January.
- 14:17SPEAKER_00: Uh 20 22, I think.
- 14:22SPEAKER_00: Um yeah, 22.
- 14:25SPEAKER_00: Um got if got kicked out.
- 14:31SPEAKER_00: I was like I had still again had like a hundred dollars in my bank, so I had stayed at a hotel for one night.
- 14:37SPEAKER_00: I barely like could barely afford.
- 14:39SPEAKER_00: I actually I had my grandma's card on my DoorDash, so like I ordered I door ordered DoorDash, like McDonald's or something.
- 14:46SPEAKER_00: Um like a ton like way too much food for one person.
- 14:49SPEAKER_00: Um but like I just you know again, I was obese, I just ate my feelings away.
- 14:53SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 14:53SPEAKER_00: Um, which obviously doesn't make you feel better.
- 14:56SPEAKER_00: But did that.
- 14:58SPEAKER_00: Um then my grandma actually took me in for like two or three weeks.
- 15:02SPEAKER_00: I found a rental in the meanwhile.
- 15:04SPEAKER_00: Uh I had a car that was worth like 10 grand.
- 15:06SPEAKER_00: I think I ended up selling it for like seven is because I needed the money fast.
- 15:10SPEAKER_00: Um and there was like a hundred dollar fix on it that if I fixed that like I could have basically sold it in a day for like what it was worth.
- 15:16SPEAKER_00: It was like at least ten, it was like twelve maybe, I don't know.
- 15:19SPEAKER_00: Um but yeah, so found a rental, was doing DoorDash still for work, um DoorDash, yeah, mostly DoorDash at that time, like DoorDash Grubhub, Instacart, stuff like that.
- 15:33SPEAKER_00: Um and you know, I I had had a company before that was doing like social media marketing.
- 15:42SPEAKER_00: Uh I ran like theme pages, um, like social media like meme pages basically.
- 15:47SPEAKER_00: And you know, I would sell ads on those, a lot of them like selling ads to um like rappers and OnlyFans models and stuff like that.
- 15:57SPEAKER_00: Um and it was not bad money, so I had tried to buy a page, got scammed out of money for that.
- 16:05SPEAKER_00: It was like a grand or two, it was like all I had.
- 16:07SPEAKER_00: And so then I couldn't afford rent and got evicted and moved back in with my parents, and that was May when I was like end of April um 2022.
- 16:18SPEAKER_00: Um and yeah, so May 1st, 2022 is the day that I look at as like being reborn because that's like the day that I just woke up and enough was enough, and like I was tired of being who I was.
- 16:35SPEAKER_00: Uh and the pain I think Tony Robinson said it, like the the pain of staying the same overcame the pain of change, so I knew I needed a change.
- 16:43SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 16:44SPEAKER_00: And yeah, the first thing was like literally just getting in the gym.
- 16:47SPEAKER_00: Like that's all I did for the first year was just get in the gym, and I would still like I would go home and I'd like to sleep the rest of the day.
- 16:52SPEAKER_00: Or like I would maybe work door as a few hours.
- 16:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 16:54SPEAKER_00: Like if that.
- 16:55SPEAKER_00: Um yeah, got into real estate in 2023, like around the same time, like around May.
- 17:02SPEAKER_00: Uh made made$900 in my first two months.
- 17:06SPEAKER_00: Um, so it wasn't like anything glorious.
- 17:08SPEAKER_00: Uh, thought I knew everything, left the company I was with, made like two grand in six months.
- 17:13SPEAKER_00: Uh, and then throughout that time of being on my own, I had found Christ, which was September-ish, 2023, um, just from different two different people who really spoke into me with a lot of con a lot of conviction, and you know, I was like, they're crazy, but I could feel their conviction.
- 17:35SPEAKER_00: Um, so you know, it prompted me to die deeper.
- 17:40SPEAKER_00: I told people I actually got God's uh like slapped into me or punched into me because I was um like literally my first time ever boxing sparring, I got a concussion, I was better at him for two weeks.
- 17:52SPEAKER_00: Towards the end of that two weeks, I downloaded a Bible app and went to Northview Church, which is a local mega church here, um that next weekend, and kind of all went from there, found a men's group uh that one of the people who had spoken into me had introduced me to, and literally everything from that conversation and then that men's group, like I can look back, like even this podcast, how I got introduced to different things all stemmed from that one conversation, which I think, if I remember correctly, we met at Panda Express through real estate.
- 18:25SPEAKER_00: Like we just met up, met up like to talk real estate or whatever.
- 18:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so April 7, 2024, got baptized.
- 18:31SPEAKER_00: Um, I had just like actually done our first company like big deal, made like 30 grand on um a wholesale deal, just hiring cold callers and um yeah, doing sales.
- 18:44SPEAKER_00: Uh it was a house in Butler, Tarkington, 4243 Cornelius.
- 18:48SPEAKER_00: I still remember the address.
- 18:49SPEAKER_00: Uh, and I usually don't remember the addresses.
- 18:51SPEAKER_00: Uh I usually remember like the actual situations of the sellers because I love uh what we do, how we're able to serve.
- 18:57SPEAKER_00: Um but yeah, so did that, got introduced to a church that was again from that men's group, that was from that conversation.
- 19:09SPEAKER_00: Uh gave a message, my first message, July 7, 2024, at that church.
- 19:15SPEAKER_00: Um and yeah, I mean just couldn't continue to dive deeper into what I was doing, um, where God was waiting me.
- 19:26SPEAKER_00: Ultimately, though, with the business, I felt it was completely disconnected from the rest of my life.
- 19:32SPEAKER_00: Um, and so I shut it down for two or three months between like August, September to like November, December.
- 19:41SPEAKER_00: Um, which I don't think I did that math right.
- 19:44SPEAKER_00: That's not two or three months, but um shut it down.
- 19:48SPEAKER_00: Uh and I thought I didn't want to be in real estate anymore because I wanted to be in ministry because I had seen what the Lord had done for me already at that point.
- 19:54SPEAKER_00: Um and yeah, but I I shut it down.
- 20:00SPEAKER_00: Obviously, after that I'd you know struggled financially again, had came to a point where I was considering like what am I gonna do.
- 20:07SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, obviously I had some savings from that.
- 20:10SPEAKER_00: Um, but like it was almost hit a point where like where I needed to do Doordash or something like that again.
- 20:15SPEAKER_00: Uh ultimately I restarted the company with renewed purpose and um mission and vision behind it, and saw it now as a ministry and how I'm actually able to serve um the people and the community and the vendors and employees and everyone we come in contact with and how the Lord was leading me in that.
- 20:37SPEAKER_00: And then May of 25, so this year, started building our team.
- 20:43SPEAKER_00: Um that's been awesome, you know, not just working on my own, um, because before I was just a grind.
- 20:48SPEAKER_00: Now we're now we're at a place where we're focused more on systems and infrastructure in our team, and yeah, and then it would have been um I think June.
- 21:00SPEAKER_00: I left the church that I was at that I'd given that message at.
- 21:04SPEAKER_00: Um and I didn't know where I was gonna go, and that was around a time that I found Run with Christ, and yeah, I definitely still had some things I needed to work with work through.
- 21:16SPEAKER_00: Um I I didn't still today I have things I need to work through.
- 21:20SPEAKER_00: Um but yeah, so found Run with Christ, got introduced by Alex Bond to Run with Christ, came to Addy's house um that one night and met met the whole crew.
- 21:43SPEAKER_00: Um probably came off prideful in the first conversation I had with Addy and Bella.
- 21:49SPEAKER_00: Um, and I've I've told Bella multiple times off camera, but I'm super thankful for literally like the first actual conversation we ever had was like her like rebuking.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: Me you know, like but I don't know, I I just have so much love for that because most people aren't willing to be kind and truthful and loving in that way, so I appreciate that.
- 22:14SPEAKER_00: Um and yeah, and uh now we work together.
- 22:21SPEAKER_00: Um and I would definitely say one of my closest sisters in Christ now, um, both of you, um that I'm obviously open to being vulnerable with.
- 22:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 22:33SPEAKER_00: Um so yeah, that kind of I guess leads to today at this moment.
- 22:41SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 22:43SPEAKER_04: Tony, I feel like your story is so powerful.
- 22:46SPEAKER_04: Um and I think especially with you know what you went through when you were younger with bullying and um those those kinds of things, I think a lot of people can relate to that.
- 22:59SPEAKER_04: Um, and that's like so hard.
- 23:01SPEAKER_04: Um that yeah, but I really appreciate your vulnerability of of sharing all of that.
- 23:09SPEAKER_04: Like I feel like it can, especially the things that you did share about, you know, your family, getting arrested, um, putting hands on your family and those kinds of things.
- 23:18SPEAKER_04: Um, it's not easy to share it, but I think it is so so important to share because it also just turns the glory back to the Lord of how far he has brought you today.
- 23:27SPEAKER_04: Um, but you mentioned when in your story that there were a few men that poured into you, um, and you weren't fully walking with the Lord yet, but you felt the conviction.
- 23:39SPEAKER_04: Um, I'm curious, like what did those guys pour into you and how did that lead you to Christ?
- 23:45SPEAKER_04: Like, what was that moment for you where you were like, I think I need to be following the Lord?
- 23:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 23:52SPEAKER_00: Um, great question.
- 23:55SPEAKER_00: I honestly don't remember.
- 23:57SPEAKER_00: I remember the conversations are long and I remember the conviction.
- 24:00SPEAKER_00: Uh, but the like actual things that I said, I don't remember what exactly what was said.
- 24:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it was it was mostly the conviction, how they spoke.
- 24:11SPEAKER_00: And not, I guess, having seen anyone speak like that before.
- 24:14SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 24:15SPEAKER_00: Um yeah.
- 24:18SPEAKER_00: And then the guy who baptized me, we actually we met at a at a park, um, which is like my favorite park, holiday park, um, west side.
- 24:28SPEAKER_00: Uh, when I grew up going there like every week, because we lived like 10 minutes away.
- 24:33SPEAKER_00: Um, we met like in a small men's group that another mentor of mine had um invited me to invited me to that.
- 24:42SPEAKER_00: The other mentor also leads the other men's group.
- 24:44SPEAKER_00: Um but with that, I remember so the guy who baptized me, one of my closest mentors, um, discipling me this year.
- 24:54SPEAKER_00: Uh, we made like weekly in a small discipleship men's group.
- 24:59SPEAKER_00: Um and he's a big business guy, like he owns a lot of like very successful businesses.
- 25:07SPEAKER_00: And so I came to the park like dressed like how I am now, like in business type clothes.
- 25:13SPEAKER_00: And everyone else was like in shorts and like a t-shirt and like stuff like that, like ready to be at a park.
- 25:18SPEAKER_00: Um so he just really introduced me to like what peace looks like and joy.
- 25:24SPEAKER_00: And like I tell people, like, you know, if you take away all what he has in the world, like he's still somebody that you want to know because he just reflects the heart of Christ so well.
- 25:35SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 25:36SPEAKER_00: So I've been really blessed with you know going from having no community to I can't ask for a better community now.
- 25:43SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 25:44SPEAKER_00: And in all in all senses, spiritual business and and so on.
- 25:48SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 25:50SPEAKER_05: So you said you uh have seen the Lord kind of use your business as a ministry.
- 25:54SPEAKER_05: Explain that, like in which way do you see the Lord working through your business or using you to steward this business for him?
- 26:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 26:05SPEAKER_00: I mean, at the end of the day, it's a heart posture um because there's a lot of companies that do the same thing and probably want to say that.
- 26:11SPEAKER_00: Um but it's just really being a servant to now those who are on our team, um to our vendors that we work with, to uh obviously our clients, and specifically with our clients, most of those people um who we end up working with, whether it's we're buying their house or we're helping them sell their house, we they are going through a very tough transition period in life, whether it's probate so they just lost someone close to them that passed them down the house, and now they have to deal with a house, um, divorce, uh, sheriff sale, meaning like usually they're behind on our mortgage and they're about to get foreclosed on, they're about to lose their house or credit.
- 26:51SPEAKER_00: Um and to a lot of people, you know, they've built their lives in that house over the last 20 years, so memories.
- 26:58SPEAKER_00: Um different, yeah, different different things like that.
- 27:04SPEAKER_00: Um, and yeah, just you know, like Bella is on our team now.
- 27:08SPEAKER_00: Like, how can I be a servant to Bella?
- 27:10SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 27:10SPEAKER_00: How can I help her succeed in her career?
- 27:13SPEAKER_00: Um and again with our vendors, um you know, how can I be a good a good partner for them to work with?
- 27:23SPEAKER_00: How can I how can I be a servant to them and their company and help their company succeed by being in a relationship with our company?
- 27:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and I just also I mean one of the big things is being a steward of time, of money, um of resources, of people, um say recognizing people's talents and empowering them to go and use them.
- 27:47SPEAKER_00: So I think that's one of the biggest gifts I've been given is like the gift of encouragement where I see somebody's fruits and I call it out.
- 27:54SPEAKER_05: Yeah, that's good.
- 27:56SPEAKER_05: So I love that.
- 27:57SPEAKER_05: So for two girls that um know nothing about real estate, explain your business.
- 28:02SPEAKER_05: What is it?
- 28:03SPEAKER_05: How did it get going?
- 28:05SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 28:05SPEAKER_00: How did it go?
- 28:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 28:07SPEAKER_05: How'd it get going?
- 28:09SPEAKER_05: How did the business get going?
- 28:11SPEAKER_05: How'd it go in?
- 28:13SPEAKER_05: You said how'd it goin'?
- 28:15SPEAKER_05: I did.
- 28:15SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 28:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 28:17SPEAKER_05: Hey, it's okay.
- 28:18SPEAKER_05: This is where you're here to pick up.
- 28:20SPEAKER_05: Hey ball.
- 28:22SPEAKER_05: We're a team.
- 28:24SPEAKER_00: With the business, basically, sellers come to us and they want to sell their house, and they want usually a cash offer, is like the main reason people come to us, um, which a cash offer provides the convenience of you know, you're not having random people walk through your house at random times of the day, random times of the week.
- 28:45SPEAKER_00: Um, we there's no no closing costs under and no commissions, it's just much more straightforward.
- 28:52SPEAKER_00: Um, ultimately, we give them that cash offer.
- 28:55SPEAKER_00: We close much faster than um people on the market would close, so we close within typically 21 to 24 days, versus you know, if you're listing it on the market three months, maybe, especially in this market, it's a big buyer's market right now.
- 29:07SPEAKER_00: Um, with that first deal, like I mentioned how I got started, just hired cold callers, which is basically what it sounds like people making cold calls.
- 29:16SPEAKER_00: Um, I think I had two or three of them, like overseas in I I think it was actually in Egypt where they were from, which is funny because I'm also from Egypt.
- 29:25SPEAKER_00: Um but they were just cold calling, and then they would pass me to leads when like someone raises their hand, like, yeah, I actually am interested in selling, and I would talk to them and you know, make again make them an offer.
- 29:36SPEAKER_00: Um and a backbone or the backbone of our our of our company over time has been what's called wholesaling.
- 29:45SPEAKER_00: So essentially, let's say Addy, you want to sell your house for$100,000.
- 29:49SPEAKER_00: Bella, I know you're willing to pay$125,000 uh for her house.
- 29:53SPEAKER_00: I'm making that deal with Addy for$100,000, and then I'm gonna sell it to you before I buy it.
- 30:00SPEAKER_00: I'm assigning you the right to purchase that property uh for$125,000, and so then I'm just taking that in between.
- 30:08SPEAKER_05: Got it.
- 30:09SPEAKER_00: And then, you know, there are sellers who come to us and they have a beautiful home, they don't really have any urgency to sell.
- 30:16SPEAKER_00: Um, they can't afford to wait for it to get top dollar on the market, and so you know, we just sold one a couple weeks ago for$475,000.
- 30:25SPEAKER_00: Um, it was one of the nice, I think it was the nicest house in the neighborhood, and you know, we would just honestly be doing them a disservice by making them a cash offer because we would just not be in the same ballpark at all.
- 30:38SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I I know nothing about real estate, but if I need to sell a house, I'm coming to you, Tony.
- 30:46SPEAKER_05: Yeah, or if I need to buy a house, I'm gonna come to Tony.
- 30:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'll pass you off to Gabriel, but yeah.
- 30:52SPEAKER_05: So is the business your company, or do you have a partner and is the business called um what's it called?
- 31:00SPEAKER_00: Reborn Homes.
- 31:01SPEAKER_05: Reborn Homes.
- 31:02SPEAKER_00: So um I am the steward of the business.
- 31:06SPEAKER_00: The father is a founder, Jesus is the CEO, and Holy Spirit is a consultant.
- 31:12SPEAKER_05: And there is the answer.
- 31:15SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 31:16SPEAKER_04: Well, going into your podcast then, um, your your business called Reborn Homes, um, and then this is the Reborn Podcast Podcast.
- 31:26SPEAKER_04: So I would love for you to touch a little bit on what the um drive was for the podcast.
- 31:34SPEAKER_04: Where did that calling come from?
- 31:36SPEAKER_04: Um, and what you want people to take away from this podcast and what they can expect from it.
- 31:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 31:44SPEAKER_00: It's definitely grown a lot over time, um, just like with the mission of it and the the the idea generation of it.
- 31:52SPEAKER_00: Um, but yeah, I mean, like I said in the beginning, it really just started as my sharing my own personal development journey, and really like I was probably the only listener um, which I didn't really mind, like I wasn't really doing it for other people.
- 32:08SPEAKER_00: Um, and I'm still not doing it for other people, I'm doing it to glorify glorify God.
- 32:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 32:12SPEAKER_00: Um, but like it was helpful for me.
- 32:15SPEAKER_00: Uh you know, one thing with that, like, which is still a thing, is accountability.
- 32:20SPEAKER_00: If I'm saying something on a podcast and then doing something completely different, like that's not in my eyes operating with integrity.
- 32:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 32:28SPEAKER_00: Um so yeah, that's part of it.
- 32:33SPEAKER_00: Uh as far as you know, for the audience, you know, again, I have obviously come from my testimony to where I am today, and have really deconstructed and reconstructed my life um through the power of Christ.
- 32:52SPEAKER_00: But again, there's always gonna be you know, sanctif san sanctification is a process.
- 32:59SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 32:59SPEAKER_00: There's always gonna be trials and tribulations, and so being able to share the highs, but also probably more importantly, the lows.
- 33:08SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 33:08SPEAKER_00: Um is is crucial uh in all in all aspects, whether it's health, whether it's relationships, business, whatever it might be.
- 33:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 33:19SPEAKER_00: Um so yeah.
- 33:22SPEAKER_04: I think um I think this podcast is gonna be so encouraging to um so so many different people, but especially like young um entrepreneurs, young leaders, um, because I think there's a lot to learn from your story, and I think so many people will be able to relate to your story and what you walked through, but also have that encouragement to see that um just because something bad happened to them, that doesn't mean a bad life, and that doesn't mean that they have to continue walking through that.
- 33:52SPEAKER_04: Um, that there is renewal through Jesus Christ, um, and that he does have a plan for us.
- 33:59SPEAKER_04: And I'm sure that this plan that you are walking in, the life that you have right now, is more than you could have imagined it would be.
- 34:07SPEAKER_04: Um so yeah, I think there's gonna be so much encouragement for for others when they listen to this podcast and get to hear um both about business and um the the business world, learning how to be an entrepreneur, um, learning, you know, I'm sure we'll touch more a little bit later on of um more details of how you got into things, like down to like you know, the nitty-gritty of the details and um things that you've learned um, you know, through failing and things like that.
- 34:40SPEAKER_04: Um but yeah, I think this is this is gonna be such an encouragement, and and we're just excited to to see where the Lord takes it.
- 34:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah, absolutely.
- 34:49SPEAKER_00: And you know, earlier I noticed your red nails, now I'm noticing your your black shirt, and that's what it was.
- 34:55SPEAKER_00: You're right.
- 34:56SPEAKER_00: So this didn't the life I live today is much more than I could imagine.
- 35:00SPEAKER_00: Because what it was was black, it was it was darkness that seemed like it was never gonna end.
- 35:06SPEAKER_00: And yeah, so it can only be by God.
- 35:16SPEAKER_00: It can only be by the will of God that I live the life that I live today.
- 35:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 35:22SPEAKER_04: Well, he's he's the sustainer.
- 35:24SPEAKER_04: Like, I think we could so totally get caught up in like, oh, like I'm I'm working so hard, I brought myself here.
- 35:30SPEAKER_04: And like there are totally things that we um, you know, there are things like in all of our past lives when we were living for the world where we did do it by our own strength, and maybe we got ourselves there, but it's not gonna sustain because there's no firm foundation.
- 35:46SPEAKER_04: Um and I think the what is so special about about this podcast about your business is that the foundation is is built on the Lord.
- 35:57SPEAKER_04: Um and yeah, he he's the sustainer, and like you mentioned, you felt like there was just so much darkness, and it was always going to be that way.
- 36:06SPEAKER_04: Um, but the Lord's light is just it overcomes everything.
- 36:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 36:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah, how can I say that better?
- 36:19SPEAKER_00: Very wise.
- 36:21SPEAKER_04: We we just thank you so much for sharing your story and just giving um us a little more insight of what the Reborn Podcast is and what we are going to expect from it.
- 36:33SPEAKER_04: Um so yeah, we just thank you so much, Tony, and we're we're so excited for this journey for you.
- 36:39SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
- 36:40SPEAKER_00: I appreciate the opportunity.
- 36:41SPEAKER_05: Yeah, thank you, Tony.
- 36:43SPEAKER_05: I'm excited for everybody to hear your story.
- 36:45SPEAKER_05: We have one last question.
- 36:46SPEAKER_05: A very special story.
- 36:48SPEAKER_05: Sorry, I interrupted, I interrupted you.
- 36:50SPEAKER_05: I'm done.
- 36:51SPEAKER_05: That's my cutoff.
- 36:52SPEAKER_04: We we have one last burning question.
- 36:57SPEAKER_04: What is your death row?
- 37:02SPEAKER_05: Gosh.
- 37:04SPEAKER_05: We didn't plan that.
- 37:06SPEAKER_05: I mean, I was just hoping that's what you were gonna say.
- 37:08SPEAKER_00: I mean, we're in it, we're in an Everbowl.
- 37:11SPEAKER_00: Um shout out Everbow.
- 37:13SPEAKER_00: Shout out Everbowl.
- 37:15SPEAKER_00: Um Death Row meal.
- 37:17SPEAKER_00: Hopefully, I'm never on Death Row.
- 37:20SPEAKER_04: If you were, you can choose anything.
- 37:22SPEAKER_04: You can go from entree or appetizer, entree, dessert, drink, drink, what, what like give us the whole lineup.
- 37:34SPEAKER_04: I know it's a really overwhelming question.
- 37:36SPEAKER_00: I'm just I'm not piggy.
- 37:38SPEAKER_00: I I'll eat anything.
- 37:39SPEAKER_04: What's your what do you crave?
- 37:43SPEAKER_00: Jesus.
- 37:45SPEAKER_05: Food-wise.
- 37:51SPEAKER_04: Do you need some inspo?
- 37:52SPEAKER_00: I guess the first thing that comes to mind is I'm a big rib guy.
- 37:56SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 37:56SPEAKER_00: Barbecue ribs.
- 37:57SPEAKER_00: Um barbecue ribs.
- 37:59SPEAKER_02: Mashed potatoes, green beans.
- 38:02SPEAKER_00: I didn't need you to.
- 38:02SPEAKER_00: Sorry, I'm picking your meal for you.
- 38:07SPEAKER_00: You got you guys can put my moat together for me.
- 38:10SPEAKER_05: I guess we're doing uh So we got the ribs, we got the mashed potatoes, we got the green beans.
- 38:15SPEAKER_05: Do you want gravy on your mashed potatoes?
- 38:16SPEAKER_00: Gravy sounds great.
- 38:17SPEAKER_05: What do you what are you sipping on?
- 38:23SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 38:24SPEAKER_00: Um water.
- 38:26SPEAKER_00: Lemonade.
- 38:27SPEAKER_05: You are not allowed to have your giant water bottle.
- 38:29unknown: No.
- 38:30SPEAKER_05: Yeah, he wants his giant like I think that would be a weapon.
- 38:33SPEAKER_05: And do it.
- 38:34SPEAKER_05: It would.
- 38:36SPEAKER_00: Um.
- 38:40SPEAKER_00: I would say like a organic, like strawberry lemonade or something like that.
- 38:49SPEAKER_05: Yum.
- 38:50SPEAKER_05: Dessert.
- 38:52SPEAKER_00: Dessert.
- 38:53SPEAKER_00: I'm a big ice cream guy.
- 38:54SPEAKER_00: Um what kind?
- 38:56SPEAKER_04: Oh, you said butter pecan last time.
- 38:58SPEAKER_00: Butter pecan, but not on death throw.
- 39:00SPEAKER_00: That's it.
- 39:00SPEAKER_00: Not on death throw.
- 39:01SPEAKER_04: Oh, okay.
- 39:03SPEAKER_00: Either fried ice cream.
- 39:06SPEAKER_00: Or there's a place locally that has ice cream churros.
- 39:19SPEAKER_00: Baklava.
- 39:20SPEAKER_00: Oh.
- 39:21SPEAKER_00: Like it's.
- 39:21SPEAKER_00: What is that?
- 39:22SPEAKER_00: So it's baklava with ice cream.
- 39:24SPEAKER_05: Wait, my grandma made it.
- 39:25SPEAKER_00: Baklava sunday.
- 39:27SPEAKER_05: Over summer.
- 39:28SPEAKER_05: And you like take like a torch to it, right?
- 39:30SPEAKER_05: And make it like crispy on the top.
- 39:31SPEAKER_00: That's what fried ice cream is, yeah.
- 39:33SPEAKER_05: Well, the baklava.
- 39:35SPEAKER_00: Baklava.
- 39:36SPEAKER_05: Wait, what is that?
- 39:37SPEAKER_00: So baklava actually is a Middle Eastern dish.
- 39:40SPEAKER_00: Um, I honestly have no idea how to describe what it is.
- 39:43SPEAKER_00: It's like I can look it up.
- 39:46SPEAKER_05: I don't wanna sound, yeah.
- 39:48SPEAKER_05: I'm gonna be so wrong if I try and guess what it is.
- 39:50SPEAKER_05: I had it for the first time over the summer though.
- 39:52SPEAKER_00: Baklava is a rich layered pastry pastry dessert made from phyllo dough, if I'm pronouncing that right, chopped nuts, like pistachios or walnuts, and a sweet syrup or honey.
- 40:06SPEAKER_00: It's a popular dessert in the Middle East, Greece, and Turkey with variations in nut fillings and syrup flavorings such as ro rose water or cinnamon.
- 40:16SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I didn't have that this summer.
- 40:19SPEAKER_04: Okay, okay, so that would be your your dessert.
- 40:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 40:23SPEAKER_04: Okay, fire.
- 40:24SPEAKER_04: Patty, what would your death row feel be?
- 40:26SPEAKER_04: Oh my gosh.
- 40:29SPEAKER_00: We already know mashed potatoes and green beans.
- 40:31SPEAKER_05: No, that was just if I was having ribs, I think.
- 40:34SPEAKER_05: Like, what's the first thing that comes to mind?
- 40:36SPEAKER_05: Like a lasagna in a Texas toast.
- 40:38SPEAKER_05: I also need a sweet potato.
- 40:41SPEAKER_05: A sweet potato?
- 40:42SPEAKER_05: Sweet potato.
- 40:42SPEAKER_05: I eat those so often that like I don't ever eat lasagna or garlic bread, so I feel like that would be so good.
- 40:50SPEAKER_05: Okay, what dessert?
- 40:52SPEAKER_05: Oh gosh.
- 40:54SPEAKER_05: Maybe like an ice cream cake.
- 40:56SPEAKER_04: Mmm, okay.
- 40:58SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 40:59SPEAKER_00: Oreo?
- 41:01SPEAKER_00: No, Oreo and Oreo and Cookie dough?
- 41:04SPEAKER_05: Oreo and cookie dough.
- 41:05SPEAKER_05: But I don't like Oreos unless it's in ice cream.
- 41:09SPEAKER_05: Oh god.
- 41:10SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 41:12SPEAKER_05: Drink.
- 41:16SPEAKER_05: That's a hard one.
- 41:21SPEAKER_05: I don't know.
- 41:22SPEAKER_05: Come back to me.
- 41:23SPEAKER_05: Pink slash Alani.
- 41:24SPEAKER_05: Oh, an Alani, yeah.
- 41:26SPEAKER_05: We have to go out with an Alani.
- 41:29SPEAKER_04: Okay, sorry.
- 41:34SPEAKER_04: Mine would be literally a tray of steak street tacos.
- 41:41SPEAKER_04: cilantro on it, the lime, you know, chips and salsa and guac.
- 41:50SPEAKER_04: Like a whole yes.
- 41:51SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 41:52SPEAKER_04: Uh yeah, okay, so the whole spread.
- 41:58SPEAKER_04: Like just give me a tray of tacos.
- 42:02SPEAKER_04: And then dessert.
- 42:08SPEAKER_04: I have a big sweet tooth.
- 42:09SPEAKER_04: I could like literally go so many different issue directions, but oh, it's so hard to pick like one thing.
- 42:18SPEAKER_04: But I think I would do maybe like some brownies.
- 42:25SPEAKER_04: Dark chocolate brownies.
- 42:27SPEAKER_05: Thick ones.
- 42:28SPEAKER_04: Do you like the edges?
- 42:30SPEAKER_04: Brownie.
- 42:30SPEAKER_04: Like I would like I like it all.
- 42:33SPEAKER_00: You gotta put ice cream on it.
- 42:34SPEAKER_04: I would put ice cream on it.
- 42:35SPEAKER_04: I would put chocolate on top.
- 42:38SPEAKER_05: Like the girardelli um.
- 42:40SPEAKER_05: Yeah, I'd actually take it back.
- 42:41SPEAKER_05: Like a big girlli brownie like shake thing that they have.
- 42:46SPEAKER_05: Or cheesecake.
- 42:48SPEAKER_05: I don't know.
- 42:48SPEAKER_05: Bro, we don't.
- 42:49SPEAKER_04: That's crazy.
- 42:52SPEAKER_04: Literally.
- 42:53SPEAKER_04: Oh my gosh, like a pump like a pumpkin pie, but cheesecake.
- 42:57SPEAKER_04: I would I love fall.
- 42:59SPEAKER_04: Guys, I'm gonna get so into this now.
- 43:01SPEAKER_04: I love fall.
- 43:02SPEAKER_04: I love fall desserts.
- 43:03SPEAKER_04: This morning felt like fall left.
- 43:04SPEAKER_04: I love pumpkin flavored things.
- 43:06SPEAKER_04: Yeah, we're getting we're getting off topic.
- 43:09SPEAKER_05: We are getting off topic.
- 43:11SPEAKER_04: Basically, any dessert you put in front of me, I would take it.
- 43:16SPEAKER_00: You know what's crazy is I never asked you because I just assumed that you were Hispanic and apparently you're not.
- 43:24SPEAKER_00: Um there's so well because you said tur uh uh tacos.
- 43:30SPEAKER_00: I'm like, that's definitely Hispanic food.
- 43:32SPEAKER_04: Well, okay, so I'm like only an eighth Hispanic, rest me.
- 43:37SPEAKER_04: I'm white.
- 43:39SPEAKER_04: Um, but yeah, my mom's dad was uh yes, my grandpa.
- 43:46SPEAKER_04: Um he was Hispanic.
- 43:48SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 43:50SPEAKER_04: So just a little bit in me, but the jeans kind of carry.
- 43:55SPEAKER_05: Yeah, the jeans definitely do.
- 43:56SPEAKER_04: You and your mom look a lot like yeah, the jeans definitely carried over, for sure.
- 44:02SPEAKER_00: Sweet.
- 44:03SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 44:04SPEAKER_04: Let's talk about your jeans over.
- 44:05SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I was gonna say my question.
- 44:09SPEAKER_05: Addie, what are you?
