Lucas: Ooh, great minds think alike! Because today we're going to the beach. We'll learn some simple Cantonese phrases you can use when you're by the sea. Luna: Oh, I love that! Let's dive in. Lucas: First up, the most important beach activity — swimming. In Cantonese, 'to swim' is 游水. Luna: 游水. That sounds so smooth. 游水. Lucas: Yes! 游水. Try it again? Luna: 游水. 游水. I got it! Lucas: Perfect. Now, if you want to say 'Let's go swimming,' you can say 我哋去游水. Luna: 我哋去游水. That's 'we go swim'? Literally? Lucas: Exactly. 我哋 means 'we,' 去 means 'go,' and 游水 is 'swim.' So 我哋去游水. Luna: 我哋去游水. Nice and easy. Lucas: Next up, another classic beach thing — sunbathing. To 'sunbathe' is 曬太陽. Luna: 曬太陽. Sounds like 'shine sun'? That makes sense. For example, 個海好靚 — 'the sea is beautiful.' 個海 is 'the sea.' Luna: 個海好靚. I can already see myself saying that at the beach. Luna: 小心. Like 'caution' or 'watch out.' Lucas: Exactly.
