- 2:41Nora: (laughing)
- 2:42Nora: Well, how are you guys tonight?
- 2:44Nora: (laughing)
- 2:46Chris: Charles, are you gonna try to go
- 2:47Chris: as long as you can without speaking?
- 2:50Chris: Is that the idea?
- 2:52Chris: Okay,
- 2:53Chris: all right.
- 2:54Chris: I see you.
- 2:55Nora: I see you.
- 2:56Nora: Well, I guess,
- 2:58Nora: you know.
- 2:59Nora: (laughing)
- 3:01Nora: (laughing)
- 3:05Nora: Fully zip the lip.
- 3:07Nora: Not, but okay, the key has not been thrown away.
- 3:11Nora: I have not.
- 3:12Nora: (laughing)
- 3:14Nora: But now your tongue is out,
- 3:15Nora: so can you open the mouth or close the,
- 3:18Nora: how does the zipper work?
- 3:21Nora: (laughing)
- 3:25Nora: You know what though,
- 3:26Chris: we are,
- 3:27Chris: I think we're prepared for this contingency.
- 3:30Nora: Are we?
- 3:31Charles: I may be gay,
- 3:32Charles: but I'm not gay AI,
- 3:34Charles: at least not yet.
- 3:37Charles: (laughing)
- 3:39Charles: Oh my God.
- 3:41Charles: (laughing)
- 3:43Charles: Everything I do is wrong.
- 3:47Charles: You guys did such a good job without me
- 3:49Charles: for those few moments of silence.
- 3:52Chris: Three minutes of silence.
- 3:55Charles: Three whole minutes of silence.
- 3:57Charles: Probably.
- 3:58Charles: from a certified yapper and y'all did okay.
- 4:03Charles: We did okay.
- 4:04Nora: I was just gonna start talking.
- 4:06Charles: You should have, you should have.
- 4:08Charles: Yeah,
- 4:09Charles: so welcome everybody to Loudspeakers

- 4:15Charles: Vibe Check.
- 4:16Nora: Yeah,
- 4:17Nora: longest running hit show.
- 4:18Charles: Longest running,
- 4:20Charles: longest consecutive running.
- 4:22Nora: Consecutive running.
- 4:23Charles: Yeah,
- 4:23Charles: show Vibe Check,
- 4:26Charles: Starring your host Charles Joseph Kelly
- 4:30Nora: and me Nora
- 4:32Charles: And Chris on the ones and twos
- 4:35Chris: Yep,
- 4:35Chris: we did this intro already.
- 4:37Chris: You guys did this already?
- 4:38Chris: Yeah
- 4:39Charles: Wasn't paying attention.
- 4:41Charles: I was I just wanted to do it again
- 4:44Charles: Because that's my job
- 4:46Charles: That is my job and you guys are stealing my job. It did feel weird doing it,
- 4:50Nora: but you know
- 4:51Chris: It's not our fault. You weren't talking Charles. Yeah, I just said it was your fault that I wasn't talking
- 4:55Charles: Keep it rolling.
- 4:56Chris: Oh, okay.
- 4:58Charles: The shit that you pull right before we go live.
- 5:00Charles: (laughing)
- 5:02Chris: What on earth are you talking about?
- 5:04Charles: Where you cut to us every time
- 5:07Charles: and then you kind of magically think
- 5:10Charles: that while we're waiting,
- 5:13Charles: this episode's brought to you by Diet Dr. Pepper,
- 5:15Charles: by the way,
- 5:16Charles: I gotta turn the can.
- 5:17Charles: Zero sugar.
- 5:18Charles: Right towards the camera.
- 5:21Charles: Zero sugar,
- 5:23Charles: hundreds of aspartame.
- 5:25Chris: Hundreds.
- 5:26Charles: Hundreds?
- 5:27Nora: Yeah.
- 5:27Charles: Let's see,
- 5:28Charles: does it say?
- 5:30Charles: Zero protein.
- 5:31Nora: I'm not surprised by that at all.
- 5:34Charles: How much sodium do you think is in a can?
- 5:36Nora: A lot.
- 5:38Nora: I don't know.
- 5:38Charles: Chris?
- 5:39Chris: Welcome to Vibe Check where we read can labels.
- 5:43Chris: (laughing)
- 5:44Charles: I don't even remember what I was talking about.
- 5:46Charles: Oh yes I do, yes I do.
- 5:48Charles: I got sidetracked.
- 5:51Charles: My meds are working folks, I promise.
- 5:53Charles: I promise you my meds are in fact working.
- 5:56Charles: However,
- 5:56Charles: however,
- 5:58Charles: the fact that you cut to us
- 6:00Charles: every single, I know you,
- 6:01Charles: I know what you're doing.
- 6:02Charles: Me?
- 6:03Charles: What did I do?
- 6:03Charles: I see what you're,
- 6:04Charles: you cut to us
- 6:05Charles: just to throw us off right before the show starts.
- 6:08Charles: And it's your shtick,
- 6:11Charles: it's your bit.
- 6:12Charles: The camera's over here now, and this is blocking it.
- 6:14Charles: Hold on.
- 6:16Charles: Chris.
- 6:17Nora: We're just minding our business.
- 6:21Charles: I do an obvious cut to camera.
- 6:23Charles: There we go.
- 6:24Charles: Chris,
- 6:24Charles: Christopher.
- 6:25Chris: Yep.
- 6:26Charles: I'm here. - I know you.
- 6:27Charles: I see you.
- 6:28Charles: I see what you're doing.
- 6:30Charles: And I'm fine with it.
- 6:32Charles: I'm fine with it.
- 6:32Charles: It's a good bit.
- 6:33Charles: It's a good shtick.
- 6:35Charles: It's fun.
- 6:36Charles: It's fun.
- 6:36Charles: And every single time you just see us
- 6:38Charles: before we go live,
- 6:39Charles: me going,
- 6:40Charles: Chris!
- 6:41Charles: (laughing)
- 6:45Charles: Every time.
- 6:46Nora: Every time.
- 6:47Charles: Every time.
- 6:48Chris: All I have to say to that is.
- 6:49Nora: >> I think that 9/11 was an inside job.
- 6:52Charles: >> It's true.
- 6:53Charles: >> Mm-hmm.
- 6:54Charles: >> It's true.
- 6:56Charles: As Hasan Piker once said-- (both laughing)
- 6:58Nora: >> Shut up, Charles.
- 7:00Nora: (both laughing)
- 7:01Nora: Oh, no, we got the ad loaded up.
- 7:04Charles: >> Isn't it wild-- okay, we're gonna talk politics
- 7:08Nora: just a little bit. >> Just a little bit.
- 7:10Charles: >> That we're,
- 7:10Charles: like-- all of a sudden,
- 7:12Charles: we are,
- 7:13Charles: like,
- 7:14Charles: Benjamin Netanyahu is talking about Hasan Piker.
- 7:19Charles: The streamer the streamer hasan piker who has like 10,000 people watching at a time
- 7:27Charles: It's not like it's a good amount. It's a good. He's like one of the number one streamers out there however
- 7:33Charles: It's not that many people
- 7:35Charles: It's not it's not a huge audience,
- 7:38Charles: and we've got Benjamin Netanyahu going hasan piker
- 7:43Charles: Like like this is I don't I don't
- 7:49Chris: else is going to.
- 7:50Chris: Nobody knows who he is.
- 7:51Nora: Oh,
- 7:52Nora: I mean, not the entire Republican National
- 7:55Nora: Convention where the meat picture was put on the big screen.
- 7:58Charles: They showed Hassan Piker
- 8:01Charles: at the Republican National Convention, the RNC,
- 8:04Charles: his whole hog out on camera. The meat picture!
- 8:09Nora: Yeah.
- 8:09Nora: He literally,
- 8:10Nora: that's what he calls it because it's so,
- 8:13Nora: it's his like most revealing
- 8:14Nora: Picture yeah,
- 8:15Charles: it's you can see like he's wearing underwear
- 8:19Charles: You can see the imprint of dong.
- 8:22Charles: Yeah
- 8:26Charles: Yeah
- 8:27Nora: Yeah, oh yeah this week.
- 8:30Charles: They're showing off footage of him and his maid outfit
- 8:35Chris: Why
- 8:38Charles: Cuz they're like look at this person
- 8:40Charles: Why is he the person on the left and it's like he's a streamer. He does streamer shit. Yeah,
- 8:46Charles: like this is normal
- 8:47Charles: I dressed up like a
- 8:50Charles: Miku and
- 8:52Nora: right
- 8:53Nora: Right.
- 8:53Chris: So what you're saying Charles is that you wish they were showing you up on the screen
- 8:57Charles: I've got multiple pictures of me hanging down
- 9:02Charles: This is a joke,
- 9:03Charles: please put it on this screen Chris
- 9:05Chris: Please and if you want to see Charles's dong you can call
- 9:09Chris: 888-853-VIBE and we'll find a way to get that to you because someone needs to see it.
- 9:16Charles: Nobody
- 9:17Charles: Needs to see that nor does it actually exist on
- 9:20Charles: Joe Biden's internet.
- 9:21Nora: Yeah, not on Joe Biden's internet.
- 9:23Charles: Yeah,
- 9:24Nora: not what he's dying.
- 9:25Charles: No, he's dying.
- 9:26Nora: Yeah
- 9:28Charles: Remember how we talked about right before we went live how we weren't gonna talk about politics
- 9:34Nora: like 20 minutes before we went live.
- 9:40Chris: Getting a lot of you outside of that car tonight.
- 9:44Charles: How are your guys's weeks?
- 9:46Charles: What have you been up to?
- 9:48Nora: Well,
- 9:49Nora: on Saturday night there were like a bunch of like car alarms going off at like
- 9:54Nora: 11 at night and so I go outside and there's 300 frat kids at one of the houses in the
- 10:01Nora: and they were like,
- 10:04Nora: they were just unpleasant and rude.
- 10:08Nora: And there was just so many of them.
- 10:10Nora: And so, the police showed up.
- 10:12Nora: And then they just kept coming.
- 10:13Nora: And there were so many children on my little street.
- 10:17Nora: And like, I'm okay with parties.
- 10:19Nora: Like, we had,
- 10:20Nora: the Mormons had a party behind my house.
- 10:22Nora: There was music playing all day.
- 10:25Nora: The number of people that was there was freaky.
- 10:31Charles: Nora, I do have to say that you have turned into
- 10:35Charles: the get off my lawn neighbor.
- 10:37Nora: Oh, I,
- 10:37Nora: but my roommate was right there with me.
- 10:39Chris: I have this image of you in my head
- 10:41Chris: where you're wearing like a big thick bathrobe
- 10:43Chris: and have like that green sleep mask stuff on your face
- 10:47Chris: with like a newspaper in your hand yelling at the kids.
- 10:51Charles: I envision Nora,
- 10:53Charles: I envision Nora in this scenario
- 10:57Charles: in a different outfit.
- 10:59Charles: You have the little sleeping cap that's like flopped over to the side,
- 11:04Charles: the singular sleep dress.
- 11:07Nora: It goes all the way to my feet.
- 11:08Charles: It all goes all the way to your feet,
- 11:10Charles: no shoes,
- 11:11Charles: no shoes,
- 11:13Charles: single candle.
- 11:15Charles: You've got in your hand.
- 11:16Nora: How did you know what I was wearing?
- 11:18Charles: You walk out there and you go bah humbug.
- 11:22Charles: You fucking Scrooge.
- 11:24Nora: More effective I think.
- 11:28Charles: So,
- 11:29Charles: okay,
- 11:29Charles: so tell me,
- 11:30Charles: okay, I want to know...
- 11:32Nora: There were,
- 11:32Nora: it was just the number.
- 11:34Charles: You had a problem with the number of people that were inside this...
- 11:39Nora: The cul-de-sac.
- 11:39Charles: This cul-de-sac.
- 11:40Charles: Yes.
- 11:41Charles: There was 300, that's a lot of kids.
- 11:44Charles: Is that actually,
- 11:44Charles: or is that an exaggeration?
- 11:46Charles: No,
- 11:46Nora: that's actually the number.
- 11:47Charles: Because I would like to just,
- 11:49Charles: real quick, I'm going to look this up.
- 11:52Charles: What does 300 people look like?
- 11:58Charles: So you're telling me,
- 12:01Charles: here is a crowd safety
- 12:04Charles: of how many people are 300 people.
- 12:08Charles: You're telling me.
- 12:10Nora: In the house,
- 12:11Nora: absolutely, yes.
- 12:12Charles: This is how many people were there.
- 12:16Nora: Because what happened was,
- 12:17Nora: last weekend was fraternity rush,
- 12:19Nora: this weekend was sorority rush,
- 12:21Nora: it was the, or the weekend before was frat rush,
- 12:23Nora: it was the weekend in between the two,
- 12:25Nora: and it was the only party that anybody knew about on campus.
- 12:29Nora: Literally the only one.
- 12:32Nora: Everybody was at that house in my neighborhood.
- 12:35Nora: It was,
- 12:35Nora: there were so many,
- 12:37Nora: I haven't seen that many people since I went to Mardi Gras.
- 12:39Nora: Like there were so many people there.
- 12:41Nora: And of course there were far more people at Mardi Gras.
- 12:43Nora: There were far more people at Mardi Gras.
- 12:44Chris: I would hope so.
- 12:45Nora: But like,
- 12:46Nora: there were
- 12:46Charles: There's only 300 people who go to Mardi Gras.
- 12:48Nora: So many people.
- 12:49Nora: But there are very loud 300,
- 12:51Nora: Charles.
- 12:51Nora: It took so long for the police
- 12:54Nora: to get everybody out of the house.
- 12:56Nora: Like,
- 12:57Nora: it was just streams and streams and streams
- 13:00Nora: of students and like campus rides,
- 13:03Nora: CSU campus rides or whatever
- 13:05Nora: that takes them back to the dorms.
- 13:07Nora: They came by like five or six times
- 13:09Nora: to get kids and take them back.
- 13:11Charles: To this one house?
- 13:12Charles: Yes.
- 13:12Charles: Was this school sanctioned?
- 13:15Nora: No.
- 13:16Charles: Then why was the fucking bus there?
- 13:18Nora: Because they can call it for free if they're drunk kids.
- 13:21Nora: It's,
- 13:21Nora: 'cause it's,
- 13:22Nora: I'm in the neighborhood next to CSU.
- 13:23Nora: It's smart,
- 13:24Nora: I'm glad it was there,
- 13:25Nora: but like there were so many.
- 13:28Nora: If it were fewer,
- 13:29Nora: that's fine.
- 13:30Nora: If it was a through street,
- 13:31Nora: wouldn't have been that freaked out.
- 13:32Chris: So what's your threshold?
- 13:34Chris: Like if it was 250,
- 13:36Chris: would that have been cool?
- 13:36Charles: So if it was, Chris, can you cut to my screen real quick?
- 13:38Nora: They were packing the lawn.
- 13:39Charles: If it was this number of people.
- 13:41Nora: They were packing the front lawn.
- 13:43Nora: I didn't,
- 13:44Nora: I
- 13:44Charles: We're gonna keep scrolling until there's two
- 13:47Nora: Fewer.
- 13:47Charles: Okay.
- 13:48Nora: Fewer.
- 13:49Charles: Fewer.
- 13:50Nora: Yeah,
- 13:51Nora: that's okay.
- 13:52Charles: So one person, so 100 people.
- 13:54Chris: So between one and 1.5 is your,
- 13:56Nora: Yeah.
- 13:57Chris: Is kind of the threshold.
- 13:57Nora: Fewer would be good,
- 13:58Nora: ideal,
- 13:59Nora: but like,
- 14:00Nora: if you're gonna have,
- 14:01Nora: I mean.
- 14:03Chris: I get that.
- 14:04Charles: But it's-- - So this many people,
- 14:05Charles: 100 people. - Yeah,
- 14:06Nora: because there's like
- 14:07Nora: 12 houses on our little cul-de-sac,
- 14:09Nora: like where were these kids gonna go?
- 14:10Nora: What were they gonna do?
- 14:12Nora: I don't trust frat kids these days at all.
- 14:15Nora: Zero trust in them.
- 14:16Chris: Don't frat kids have their own house?
- 14:20Chris: It's a part of you?
- 14:21Nora: It's not a frat house, but the frat boys live there.
- 14:24Chris: Isn't that a frat house?
- 14:26Nora: Not technically because it's not paid for by the frat.
- 14:29Charles: This is a great story.
- 14:31Nora: The kid's dad bought it.
- 14:33Nora: Well,
- 14:33Chris: I for one am sad that you had to deal
- 14:37Chris: with such unruly
- 14:37Chris: I'm so sorry.
- 14:38Charles: To cut you off.
- 14:39Nora: No,
- 14:40Chris: the good news is
- 14:41Chris: Living by campus really sucks.
- 14:42Nora: I mean,
- 14:44Nora: most of the time it's not that bad.
- 14:45Nora: And next time I'm just gonna call the police
- 14:47Nora: and just let them deal with it
- 14:48Nora: because I was not the only one that had called the police already that night.
- 14:52Nora: There were about three other calls that I had heard.
- 14:56Charles: So then why did the police not show up?
- 14:58Nora: Oh, they did.
- 14:59Chris: We should call this.
- 15:00Nora: They did, but it took them 45 minutes to clear out the party.
- 15:04Chris: We should call this segment Nora's Karen Corner.
- 15:07Chris: I know.
- 15:09Nora: Nora's like,
- 15:10Charles: "ACAB,
- 15:11Charles: except for when I can't sleep well."
- 15:13Chris: I'm not calling you a Karen.
- 15:14Chris: I'm just saying it sounds like kind of a funny name.
- 15:17Nora: If the children called me a Karen and I live there and it wasn't fair for 300 people to
- 15:23Nora: be right by my house,
- 15:24Nora: I didn't like it.
- 15:25Charles: I do agree.
- 15:26Charles: I honestly,
- 15:27Charles: like, as an aside,
- 15:28Charles: if one of my neighbors were to have 300 people,
- 15:32Charles: however,
- 15:32Charles: I do live in an apartment complex, so it's,
- 15:34Charles: I think, a little bit different.
- 15:36Charles: But like 300 people in like, even at the pool area or,
- 15:43Charles: you know,
- 15:43Charles: somewhere nearby,
- 15:45Charles: across
- 15:45Charles: the street even.
- 15:47Charles: That would be too much.
- 15:48Nora: As a person who's not a party person,
- 15:50Nora: I get that
- 15:51Nora: I'm not a party person.
- 15:52Nora: I went to a school that didn't have fraternities and sororities on purpose.
- 15:56Nora: I don't like a party and if I would have seen that number of people like at a party that I was like
- 16:01Nora: going to that night,
- 16:02Nora: I would have turned around and left because I know that number of people just
- 16:06Nora: doesn't mean anything good. But that's just my autistic sensibility.
- 16:10Charles: Let's fix this.
- 16:11Charles: Yeah.
- 16:14Charles: Let's
- 16:16Charles: All we need to do is have two separate parties and then you get to that threshold.
- 16:22Charles: So here's what you do.
- 16:23Chris: Like an early show and a late show?
- 16:26Charles: You're on to something.
- 16:27Charles: We have a matinee.
- 16:30Charles: [Laughter]
- 16:32Chris: Yes.
- 16:33Charles: We have a matinee where it's like kids can come in and rage from like 3 to 5 in the afternoon.
- 16:40Nora: That's great.
- 16:41Charles: And then they still have a nighttime party,
- 16:44Charles: but people can come a little bit earlier for those that don't want to like that
- 16:48Charles: Still want to party but then don't want to be there that should clear out a few
- 16:53Charles: Maybe a few of the older students.
- 16:56Nora: I feel like that's how the gays like to party though during the day
- 16:59Nora: Yeah,
- 16:59Nora: I don't know.
- 17:00Nora: I
- 17:02Charles: Know a lot of nighttime gays. I do too.
- 17:05Nora: Well, like I'm not I'm not I'm a nighttime person
- 17:07Nora: I'm just not a 300 people in the cul-de-sac person.
- 17:11Charles: Right,
- 17:11Charles: so we do that. So here's what we do
- 17:15Charles: We treat it like theater
- 17:19Charles: We have several performances throughout the week including a tech rehearsal on Wednesday
- 17:25Charles: For the party.
- 17:26Nora: Yeah,
- 17:27Nora: cuz I'll be here and then they can rehearse over there.
- 17:30Chris: When are Charles? When are we doing the SITS probe?
- 17:34Charles: So so the SITS probe is the week before
- 17:35Charles: Before.
- 17:36Chris: (laughing)
- 17:37Charles: We call it Hell Week before the party.
- 17:39Nora: Yeah.
- 17:40Charles: Right?
- 17:41Nora: Yep.
- 17:41Charles: Tech Week, Hell Week, what have you.
- 17:43Nora: Getting all prepared,
- 17:44Nora: yeah.
- 17:44Charles: Make sure all the kids know their lines.
- 17:46Charles: (laughing)
- 17:47Chris: Are we gonna have to file for union dues?
- 17:49Chris: 'Cause that's a lot of paperwork.
- 17:50Charles: We just created community theater.
- 17:52Charles: (laughing)
- 17:54Charles: God damn it.
- 17:54Nora: Damn it?
- 17:55Charles: Same amount of drinking though.
- 17:57Nora: Very similar amounts of drinking,
- 17:59Nora: absolutely.
- 18:01Nora: Anyway, how was your week other than me being
- 18:05Charles: Mine was fine.
- 18:06Charles: I went to this really shitty,
- 18:08Charles: no it wasn't shitty.
- 18:09Charles: (laughing)
- 18:10Charles: I went to this
- 18:10Nora: Everyone told Twilight.
- 18:11Charles: We watched both Twilight movies.
- 18:14Charles: We had enchiladas.
- 18:16Nora: Homemade enchiladas.
- 18:17Charles: Homemade,
- 18:17Charles: Mandy killed it.
- 18:18Nora: They were really good.
- 18:19Charles: So we went to Mandy's house
- 18:20Charles: and we watched the Twilight movies
- 18:23Charles: and had dinner and it was a delightful time.
- 18:27Charles: We'll go over that later,
- 18:29Charles: but that's basically all I've done this week of Note
- 18:33Charles: Outside of work, work, work, work, work,
- 18:35Charles: work.
- 18:36Nora: Work, work, work.
- 18:38Charles: Chris.
- 18:38Chris: Yes.
- 18:39Charles: How was your week?
- 18:40Chris: Week's been good.
- 18:41Chris: I haven't done a lot either,
- 18:42Chris: at least that I can talk about quite yet
- 18:45Chris: because I'm working on some fun projects
- 18:46Chris: that not able to reveal yet,
- 18:49Chris: but what I can reveal is that the season premiere
- 18:52Chris: of Saturday Night Live, which aired on Saturday Night Live,
- 18:56Charles: Hold on.
- 18:58Chris: Was awful,
- 18:59Chris: absolutely terrible,
- 19:01Chris: you can see just how excited these people are.
- 19:04Chris: That is how excited I was to watch it.
- 19:07Chris: (laughing)
- 19:09Chris: This episode was hosted by Jaleel Brunson
- 19:14Chris: who plays for the New York Knicks
- 19:16Chris: who are a basketball team, I'm told.
- 19:18Chris: And the musical guest was Cat's Eye
- 19:20Chris: who are theoretically musicians,
- 19:22Chris: I've been told.
- 19:23Charles: Hey,
- 19:24Charles: hey,
- 19:24Charles: Cat's Eye has songs
- 19:28Charles: and they are sometimes listenable.
- 19:31Charles: The fun thing about Cat's Eye right now
- 19:34Charles: is they are like losing members like nobody's business.
- 19:37Nora: Dropping like flies.
- 19:38Charles: They're dropping like flies,
- 19:40Charles: Chris.
- 19:41Chris: Loons cradle.
- 19:42Chris: Okay,
- 19:42Chris: I had never heard any Cat's Eye music
- 19:45Chris: before seeing these performances,
- 19:47Chris: and I have no problem with the songs as they were.
- 19:50Chris: The problem is, at least with the performances
- 19:52Chris: that I watched on SNL,
- 19:54Chris: they lip-synced the entire time,
- 19:57Chris: and it was so incredibly obvious
- 19:59Chris: that it was a serious turn off.
- 20:02Chris: The songs could have been amazing
- 20:04Chris: and it still would have been off-putting
- 20:06Chris: because they flat out just forgot to lip sync
- 20:09Chris: about half of each song.
- 20:11Charles: Incredible.
- 20:12Chris: (laughing)
- 20:12Chris: They're still dancing
- 20:13Chris: and they've got some good dance moves
- 20:15Chris: and that's kind of fun and everything
- 20:17Chris: but like they just put the microphones down
- 20:20Chris: and just are doing their stuff
- 20:22Chris: while the lyrics are,
- 20:24Chris: you know,
- 20:24Chris: while the backing track is playing.
- 20:26Charles: My understanding was they,
- 20:29Charles: worse, not singing some of the parts because of the musicians or the band members that are gone.
- 20:36Chris: Oh.
- 20:37Charles: So they left them to still sing their original parts in those songs.
- 20:43Charles: I'm sure they lip-synced the entire song.
- 20:45Charles: Oh, I've heard of that.
- 20:46Charles: Like it was 100% lip-sync,
- 20:47Charles: which on SNL is not a normal thing.
- 20:52Charles: Normally they do actual live performances for the most part.
- 20:55Charles: Usually they do,
- 20:56Nora: yeah.
- 20:56Charles: However,
- 20:57Charles: it's weird that they still
- 21:00Charles: just didn't have anybody lip syncing those parts,
- 21:06Charles: but it makes sense because those band members
- 21:08Nora: are on hiatus. - Not there.
- 21:10Chris: I mean, they made Milli Vanilli look good,
- 21:13Chris: and that's saying something.
- 21:15Chris: That said,
- 21:16Chris: the actual sketches,
- 21:18Chris: which obviously we can't show for copyright reasons,
- 21:21Chris: were less than great.
- 21:23Chris: So many of them were just drawing attention
- 21:26Chris: that the host is an NBA star by making approximately
- 21:30Chris: half of the sketches on the show about basketball.
- 21:34Chris: And I can tell you the guy has all the charisma
- 21:37Chris: of a dead fish and it was just an unfortunate start
- 21:43Chris: to what I hope will be a better season going forward.
- 21:45Nora: Because honestly,
- 21:47Nora: Grace Ryder,
- 21:48Nora: I think she was the highlight of that whole episode.
- 21:51Nora: I love her,
- 21:52Nora: I think that she is hilarious.
- 21:54Charles: I've been following her for a few years now on social. She's the one who's in the frictionless wipe song the Newton's Cradle
- 22:04Nora: She's one of my favorite comedians,
- 22:06Nora: I think she's
- 22:08Charles: hilarious
- 22:09Nora: Yeah, she's one of the new featured performers and I'm like really excited to see what she did and I loved seeing
- 22:15Nora: Her and Jane Wick line play together because I think their comedy goes really well together.
- 22:19Nora: But again, they're featured so like
- 22:22Chris: That was a highlight, I will say,
- 22:24Chris: and this is part of the sad state
- 22:26Chris: of what they did with this episode.
- 22:27Chris: The best bits that they had were the pre-recorded sketches.
- 22:31Chris: Oh yeah,
- 22:32Nora: well, and I've been going around
- 22:33Nora: singing Newton's Cradle to myself.
- 22:36Chris: Newton's Cradle was kind of fun,
- 22:38Chris: and the scene where Jeremy Culhane is trying to turn
- 22:42Chris: the basketball squad into a musical number
- 22:45Chris: and just keeps getting checked into the side by Brunson
- 22:49Chris: was pretty funny,
- 22:50Chris: but it also went on for too long.
- 22:52Charles: Which is the normal thing for SNL.
- 22:54Nora: Right,
- 22:55Nora: I think the times that I really,
- 22:58Nora: the episodes that I really wanna watch
- 23:00Nora: are the ones where it's people who are,
- 23:03Nora: who have hosted multiple times, you know,
- 23:05Nora: Five Timers Club or people who have been
- 23:09Nora: historically writers or on the show.
- 23:11Nora: I think like those true SNL moments are like,
- 23:14Nora: you know, they're rare and they're kind of,
- 23:16Nora: you know, they're hard to find.
- 23:19Nora: I'm not excited about most of the future,
- 23:22Nora: like all of the announced shows.
- 23:24Nora: Um,
- 23:24Nora: I don't know,
- 23:25Nora: Dakota Johnson is hosting next,
- 23:27Nora: next week.
- 23:28Nora: Um,
- 23:28Nora: I don't remember who's,
- 23:30Nora: uh,
- 23:30Nora: the musical guests, but none of the ones in
- 23:32Nora: this first half of the season that have been announced are really exciting to me.
- 23:36Nora: I'm really more excited to see what Grace and Jeremy do.
- 23:39Nora: Like I just find them hilarious as,
- 23:42Nora: you know,
- 23:43Nora: comedians on the internet.
- 23:45Nora: Because that's where I have found them and found them quite funny and Veronica. I found I know Veronica from online, too
- 23:52Chris: Veronica is really funny
- 23:53Chris: And I'm excited to see with Ashley being promoted to a main cast member,
- 23:58Chris: but she was like barely in this episode
- 24:01Chris: So I you know,
- 24:03Chris: I'm I'm a lifelong SNL Stan
- 24:05Chris: I'll always watch it.
- 24:06Chris: But this this was a this was a poor start.
- 24:09Charles: Did you watch like every episode of SNL?
- 24:12Chris: Uh,
- 24:12Chris: like every week I try to
- 24:15Nora: Wow,
- 24:15Charles: that's
- 24:17Charles: That's pretty awesome.
- 24:18Nora: I watch most of the sketches
- 24:20Chris: I mean I can almost always on if nothing else I can count on weekend up being good
- 24:25Chris: But even even that was kind of kind of weird this week. It just it felt like it was opening night jitters
- 24:31Nora: Yeah
- 24:33Charles: Have you watched anything this week that you would recommend?
- 24:37Charles: Hmm,
- 24:39Chris: I
- 24:39Chris: Don't know.
- 24:41Nora: I watch both obsession and backrooms this week
- 24:45Nora: So I've been watching a lot of movies.
- 24:47Charles: Spooky movies!
- 24:48Chris: Let's hear your thoughts on Backrooms, Nora.
- 24:50Nora: Backrooms was really scary.
- 24:53Nora: It was just like ominous, but I'm glad that it was resolved.
- 24:56Nora: Because that's the most important thing.
- 24:58Nora: The jump scares were the parts that I hated the most.
- 25:01Nora: And I did have to
- 25:02Charles: What the fuck?
- 25:04Chris: Sorry, that's the Backrooms trailer.
- 25:06Charles: Oh my god.
- 25:06Chris: I still had the audio on.
- 25:07Charles: I was just like,
- 25:08Charles: is there like an alarm going off in the building?
- 25:11Chris: I'm sorry.
- 25:12Nora: I like the psychology of it.
- 25:14Nora: I don't know,
- 25:15Nora: it was fun, but it was also really scary.
- 25:18Nora: Definitely had to stop watching it a couple times.
- 25:21Chris: Okay,
- 25:22Chris: here's my big mystery of backrooms.
- 25:25Chris: How do you say this actor's name?
- 25:27Nora: Oh, I don't know.
- 25:29Nora: What's his name?
- 25:30Chris: It's like,
- 25:32Chris: I'm gonna butcher it.
- 25:33Chris: It's like Chihuetu Uyifur.
- 25:35Chris: Like the way it's spelled, yeah.
- 25:38Chris: C-H-I-W-E-T-E-L-E-J-O-F-U-R.
- 25:42Nora: He was great.
- 25:44Chris: He's a great actor, he's fantastic.
- 25:46Nora: He was really great.
- 25:47Chris: I wish I knew how to say his god damn name.
- 25:51Charles: Here we go.
- 25:54Charles: Chewetel Ejiofor.
- 25:55Charles: Play my laptop.
- 25:56Chris: Okay, hold on.
- 26:00Chris: Chewetel Ejiofor.
- 26:02Video: Chewetel Ejiofor.
- 26:04Charles: Chewetel Ejiofor.
- 26:05Nora: Chewatel Ejiofor.
- 26:07Chris: Cool,
- 26:07Chris: that's good to know.
- 26:08Chris: Now we've solved the mystery of the back rooms.
- 26:10Charles: Chewatel Ejiofor.
- 26:11Chris: What did you find the scariest, Nora?
- 26:15Nora: It was really the jump scares.
- 26:17Nora: Like the first jump scare really got me
- 26:19Nora: when you first glimpsed, have you seen it?
- 26:20Nora: You know the bits.
- 26:22Charles: I know the bits.
- 26:22Nora: When you first see the pirate guy,
- 26:24Nora: like that really was freaky.
- 26:26Nora: And like the different,
- 26:28Nora: when you couldn't really see things,
- 26:30Nora: I think was the scariest.
- 26:31Nora: And then when they kind of started explaining it.
- 26:34Nora: But like it was just very eerie and like I didn't watch it on my big TV
- 26:38Nora: I watched it on my computer because I didn't want to watch it on the big TV
- 26:42Charles: Have you guys okay.
- 26:44Charles: I just saw it in the corner like you've seen the trailer for that other mommy movie
- 26:49Chris: No
- 26:51Charles: Looks real fun. It looks a lot like a lot of fun.
- 26:54Nora: Okay. I'm also really looking forward to prime time
- 26:56Charles: We just watch this real quick.
- 26:57Charles: Yeah,
- 26:58Charles: Chris turn the audio up
- 27:00Video: Right, I thought I'd come home and eat with you.
- 27:03Video: Where's dad?
- 27:04Video: He fell asleep in the office.
- 27:05Video: I'll go get him.
- 27:06Video: Let him sleep
- 27:07Video: He needs his rest
- 27:11Video: Cookie dough ice cream for lunch.
- 27:14Video: What kind of mother would I be?
- 27:17Video: How about scrambled eggs?
- 27:19Video: Get that for breakfast.
- 27:21Video: That's right. I forgot.
- 27:23Video: How about pasta?
- 27:29Video: your favorite
- 27:30Video: Sometimes I think about when you and I were one person.
- 27:35Video: Do you remember that?
- 27:36Video: I saw a baby in your tummy.
- 27:39Video: Do you remember where you were before that?
- 27:42Video: No.
- 27:44Video: You were in my heart.
- 27:51Video: Can I go into your heart?
- 27:56Video: You said you won't leave my room.
- 27:59Video: You seemed lonely.
- 28:02Video: Yikes.
- 28:04Nora: Oh, she's good at that.
- 28:09Charles: What were you cooking?
- 28:11Charles: Bella?
- 28:12Charles: You need a grown-up to help you.
- 28:19Charles: Somebody was in the house.
- 28:22Charles: She looked like you.
- 28:23Video: What?
- 28:25Video: You don't have to be scared, Mommy.
- 28:27Video: She's nice.
- 28:30Video: Sometimes she's there,
- 28:31Video: sometimes she's not.
- 28:34Video: Is it really you?
- 28:36Video: Are you tricking me?
- 28:38Video: What?
- 28:50Video: Bella.
- 28:51Nora: Okay.
- 28:52Video: Hey.
- 28:54Video: It's me.
- 28:56Video: I'm mom.
- 29:02Nora: Ooh,
- 29:03Nora: she's,
- 29:04Nora: (scary music)
- 29:04Nora: Ooh!
- 29:06Nora: (scary music)
- 29:09Nora: Oh, she's so scary in that, that's awesome!
- 29:12Nora: Okay, that looks really good. - Jessica Chastain
- 29:13Charles: is a treasure.
- 29:14Nora: She really is, oh my god. - Holy shit.
- 29:16Charles: Holy shit does that look good.
- 29:18Nora: That looks really good.
- 29:19Nora: That looks really good.
- 29:20Nora: You gotta watch-- - Yeah, I'm excited
- 29:21Chris: for that one.
- 29:21Nora: You gotta watch Obsession.
- 29:23Nora: I know.
- 29:23Nora: I think you'll like it.
- 29:24Nora: It's a little gory, but like it's not okay.
- 29:27Nora: There's no jump scares. Here's what I'll do.
- 29:29Charles: Here's what I'm gonna do
- 29:29Charles: There's no jump scare. We're gonna do a horror movie every week for the next four weeks.
- 29:33Charles: We're gonna do obsession
- 29:35Charles: What else are we gonna do?
- 29:37Charles: Resident Evil I'll go see it in theaters even okay
- 29:41Nora: We should go together
- 29:45Chris: Chris I'm down for that
- 29:47Charles: What else what else are we gonna go? What else do we need to watch?
- 29:50Chris: Let's see. Well, when is other mommy out?
- 29:52Charles: October 8th, I don't know if I could do
- 29:58Chris: Does primetime count as a horror movie
- 30:03Nora: Or you can see everything is that a horror movie
- 30:08Charles: But that's that's like November isn't it that's October I think it's October
- 30:14Nora: I think you can see everything comes out this this year
- 30:18Charles: Did you see that it's rated R for graphic nudity?
- 30:22Chris: Yeah, I find that very bizarre for a documentary
- 30:27Nora: Yeah, I'm not sure about that. And there's also some secret actress
- 30:31Charles: October 15th is when it's out. I
- 30:34Nora: Would I want to go see I want to go see you see you could see everything and primetime
- 30:39Nora: I'm actually really looking forward to those and I have not been looking forward to many movies in a long time
- 30:44Charles: I have not been to the theater in so long
- 30:46Nora: Like I remember like one of the movies
- 30:48Nora: that I was really excited about was Grand Budapest Hotel.
- 30:51Nora: That was one that I was really excited to see.
- 30:53Charles: That was like
- 30:54Nora: So long ago.
- 30:55Charles: 40 years ago at this point.
- 30:56Nora: It doesn't happen very often to me,
- 30:59Nora: okay?
- 30:59Nora: How about Avatar,
- 31:01Nora: the original one?
- 31:02Nora: The original Pandora.
- 31:04Charles: That's a 2014 film, Grand Budapest Hotel.
- 31:07Nora: What was the movie I was excited about?
- 31:11Nora: Sue me.
- 31:13Nora: (laughing)
- 31:14Charles: I was really excited for this when I was 12.
- 31:17Nora: I think I was 17,
- 31:19Nora: thank you.
- 31:20Nora: (laughing)
- 31:23Nora: Okay,
- 31:24Nora: so I don't have a good segue,
- 31:26Nora: but I think it's time to go around the net.
- 31:28Charles: That was a terrible segue.
- 31:30Charles: (laughing)
- 31:31Charles: That was a jump scare,
- 31:32Charles: jump scaring to around the net.
- 31:34Charles: (laughing)
- 31:39Nora: Sometimes you just gotta have a bad segue.
- 31:41Charles: I have nothing this week.
- 31:42Nora: Okay.
- 31:43Charles: I'm sorry or you're welcome.
- 31:46Nora: Whatever the fuck I have some weird guys to start out with hell
- 31:49Charles: Yeah,
- 31:49Nora: so this first one was a weird one encountered at the Denver Airport
- 31:53Nora: And the Denver reports just it's bad.
- 31:55Charles: It's characters lately.
- 31:57Chris: We've taken its it's taken on its own form
- 32:00Chris: It's like I don't know how the Denver Airport became like a meme like the meme of airports
- 32:06Nora: But here we are it and it's this video is just fulfilling that so
- 32:10Video: And he was causing a social disruption.
- 32:14Video: Oh,
- 32:15Video: I fear he's intoxicated.
- 32:18Video: Why?
- 32:20Video: Who are you protecting from what, you dipshit?
- 32:25Video: No,
- 32:26Video: you don't.
- 32:27Video: I know.
- 32:29Video: That's my point, Jeff.
- 32:31Video: What the fuck?
- 32:33Video: I am working class.
- 32:35Video: I have to get to my job tomorrow.
- 32:38Video: Because I was yelling about taxes,
- 32:41Video: you think I'm gonna fucking murder someone!
- 32:44Chris: Whoa!
- 32:45Video: They signed nothing!
- 32:47Video: Why?!
- 32:50Chris: I don't know who Jeff is, but he better calm down.

- 49:35Nora: In New England,
- 49:36Nora: you know.
- 49:37Chris: White people look the same,
- 49:39Chris: like you said.
- 49:39Chris: (laughing)
- 49:41Nora: It was pretty good.
- 49:42Chris: Our next video,
- 49:44Chris: let's see what's going on at Walmart.
- 49:46Chris: (dramatic music)
- 49:50Nora: Oh no!
- 49:51Nora: Oh no!
- 49:54Nora: (laughing)
- 49:56Nora: That's not good!
- 49:58Nora: That's not good!
- 49:59Charles: That's very good.
- 50:00Nora: That's so funny.
- 50:02Charles: That is very good.
- 50:05Chris: I have no idea if that was intentional or not,
- 50:08Chris: but I hope that it's a happy ending.
- 50:09Charles: There's no way that it was,
- 50:11Charles: however,
- 50:13Charles: they need to keep it.
- 50:14Chris: That's great. - I know, right?
- 50:15Chris: It just belongs there.
- 50:17Nora: Last year, my neighbors set up Pennywise
- 50:19Nora: under the culvert in my neighborhood for Halloween.
- 50:22Charles: Incredible. - It was awesome.
- 50:23Nora: That's amazing. - It was really great.
- 50:26Chris: And then finally,
- 50:26Chris: for our last video
- 50:28Chris: for Around the Net this week,
- 50:29Chris: if you are anything like me,
- 50:32Chris: you have an Instagram or TikTok inbox
- 50:35Chris: that is stuffed full with videos that people send you.
- 50:39Chris: And I can relate to this.
- 50:42Chris: You have a delivery, can I grab your name?
- 50:43Chris: Elias?
- 50:44Video: Yep, okay, you've been served.
- 50:46Video: What?
- 50:46Video: It seems your friend has lodged a complaint
- 50:48Video: due to the abundance of unwatched reels in your DMs.
- 50:51Video: I've seen these.
- 50:52Video: No, you haven't.
- 50:53Video: You sent me so (beep) many.
- 50:54Video: So legally, you have 24 hours to submit a response.
- 50:57Video: Yeah, yeah, sure, I'll react.
- 50:58Video: Oh,
- 50:58Video: unfortunately,
- 51:00Video: a react isn't going to suffice
- 51:01Video: in this case.
- 51:02Video: You need to submit at least a five word minimum.
- 51:05Video: in a response.
- 51:06Video: But he sends me such cringe (beep)
- 51:08Video: (laughing)
- 51:09Video: Dude, that one is so good.
- 51:11Video: Have a great day.
- 51:16Video: (knocking)
- 51:18Video: What now, more reels?
- 51:19Video: No, divorce papers,
- 51:21Video: you're having a rough one, aren't you?
- 51:23Video: (laughing)
- 51:24Video: (beep) you're good at this.
- 51:26Video: (laughing)
- 51:30Charles: Here's the thing.
- 51:31Charles: I am the person who sends all the crazy TikToks.
- 51:36Chris: So did you feel called out there Charles?
- 51:39Charles: No, I just the guy who's laughing hysterically hanging out the car.
- 51:44Charles: That's me.
- 51:45Nora: I mean you don't respond to my TikToks.
- 51:48Charles: I watch,
- 51:49Charles: I don't watch them sometimes.
- 51:50Chris: You're gonna get served.
- 51:52Nora: Yeah,
- 51:53Nora: so I relate to the guy in the car going.
- 51:56Nora: [laughing]
- 51:58Charles: All right.
- 52:00Charles: Play the audio from my computer.
- 52:03Chris: It's playing.
- 52:05Charles: Turn it up.
- 52:06Charles: There we go.
- 52:08Charles: Folks,
- 52:12Charles: we're at the part of the show where we're going to take a brief meditative break.
- 52:19Charles: So what I want you to do is I want you to close your eyes.
- 52:23Charles: If you're driving right now, don't.
- 52:26Charles: Or if you're doing anything heavy machinery wise,
- 52:29Charles: don't close your eyes.
- 52:30Charles: For everybody else who's safe,
- 52:32Charles: secure,
- 52:33Charles: close your eyes
- 52:36Charles: and think of the first online radio station that comes to mind.
- 52:42Charles: Loudspeaker.
- 52:46Charles: What did you think of?
- 52:49Nora: Loudspeaker.
- 52:50Charles: Chris, what did you think of?
- 52:53Chris: Loudspeaker.
- 52:54Charles: Wow.
- 52:55Charles: That's crazy that we all thought the same thing.
- 52:58Nora: That's so crazy.
- 52:59Charles: That is so crazy.
- 53:01Charles: Folks,
- 53:03Charles: as we take a deep breath in,
- 53:05Charles: I want you to remember the incredible six stations
- 53:11Charles: that you can listen to on loudspeaker
- 53:14Charles: and breathe out all of the AI nonsense
- 53:19Charles: that you get from platforms like Spotify.
- 53:22Charles: And breathe back in and just smell the incredible award
- 53:27Charles: nominated shows like The Weird or Vibe Check,
- 53:36Charles: Two Dudes and a Chick,
- 53:39Charles: Ducky's Fun House,
- 53:42Charles: so many incredible shows.
- 53:43Charles: You can breathe out.
- 53:44Charles: You can breathe out.
- 53:44Charles: You can breathe out.
- 53:46Charles: It's been a lot.
- 53:49Charles: Now you can open your eyes.
- 53:50Charles: Your eyes were open already.
- 53:52Charles: I saw them.
- 53:53Charles: You have to start over.
- 53:56Charles: But for those at home who are doing this correctly,
- 53:59Charles: (laughing)
- 54:00Nora: I'm starting over.
- 54:03Charles: You can open your eyes and feel the warmth and love
- 54:07Charles: that comes from meditating on loudspeaker.org.
- 54:14Charles: And my laptop just died.
- 54:17Charles: Loudspeaker.org.
- 54:19Charles: Find your new favorite music today.
- 54:23Charles: I love you.
- 54:25Nora: Good night.
- 54:29Nora: But actually don't go anywhere.
- 54:30Charles: Shh, shh,
- 54:31Charles: shh.
- 54:32Charles: We're going to fade out.
- 54:42Charles: That was beautiful!
- 54:44Charles: [laughing]
- 54:45Charles: Sorry.
- 54:47Nora: That was good.
- 54:48Charles: Thank you.
- 54:49Nora: I think you could use that on the radio station.
- 54:53Nora: like without the visuals,
- 54:55Nora: Stephen.
- 54:57Nora: You could add for the channel.
- 55:01Charles: Yeah, when we heard that song before we went live,
- 55:04Charles: when we were testing my computer audio,
- 55:07Charles: I was like, I know what we're doing.
- 55:09Charles: I know what we're doing, I'm gonna jump right into it.
- 55:11Nora: That's good,
- 55:12Nora: I like it,
- 55:13Nora: I like it.
- 55:14Charles: What do we have to talk about today?
- 55:16Charles: Oh, that's right, do you wanna do your buggy racing first?
- 55:19Nora: I feel like buggy racing should go first
- 55:21Nora: just because it's a little bit less intense
- 55:23Nora: I don't know. Chris is that good?
- 55:25Chris: Yeah totally.
- 55:26Nora: Cool so last week. You do that I'm gonna get
- 55:28Nora: everything else. Yeah so last week I just want to remind you guys we have this
- 55:33Nora: video of some kids in a buggy being pushed around.
- 55:38Nora: So Chris if you want to
- 55:39Nora: show that video from last week.
- 55:45Charles: Oh my god the child.
- 55:47Nora: Right the child.
- 55:49Video: We are starting and it's a beautiful thing.
- 55:52Video: It's before 8 a.m.
- 55:54Video: None of us are shivering,
- 55:55Video: no teeth chattering.
- 55:56Video: It's looking to be hopefully a beautiful day of racing.
- 56:01Video: Getting those exhibitions important
- 56:02Video: just to make sure the timing is tuned.
- 56:04Video: Buggy.
- 56:05Video: Get the trucks already.
- 56:08Video: Switched out right there, did you see that?
- 56:10Video: Oh,
- 56:11Video: Spirit just doing a full hill one, hill two right there
- 56:13Video: and then shove off. - That's all you need to watch
- 56:14Nora: from this one because the next video I have
- 56:17Nora: actually a full explanation.
- 56:20Nora: Buggy racing is actually a tradition from 1920 at the
- 56:24Nora: Carnegie Mellon University in Pennsylvania and so this is only done
- 56:29Nora: there and I have a video that kind of explains it a little bit more so we can
- 56:33Nora: watch that.
- 56:38Video: A buggy team is made up of five pushers,
- 56:41Video: one driver,
- 56:41Video: and the buggy itself.
- 56:44Video: At the start of the race,
- 56:45Video: the Hill 1 pusher is the only one allowed on the line.
- 56:52Video: If the buggy or pusher strays from their lane,
- 56:55Video: it's a penalty.
- 57:01Video: Hill 1 has arguably the most prestige attached to it.
- 57:05Video: The fastest pushers during the races get crowned as royalty of the hill.
- 57:14Video: The hill 2 push is very important because it starts the free roll.
- 57:19Video: A good final push can mean a faster free roll time and a better rollout for hill 3.
- 57:32Video: In the free roll, the buggy is generally going too fast for a pusher to keep up.
- 57:36Video: Buggies can reach speeds of about 40 miles per hour.
- 57:40Nora: That's so fast.
- 57:45Charles: I could drive faster.
- 57:47Video: The stop sign time is an important metric of how well a buggy is doing in the free roll.
- 57:52Charles: But in a Honda Fit.
- 57:55Video: Flangers of the course ensure the driver is taking the correct line into the chute and
- 57:59Video: that the chute is safe to enter.
- 58:03Video: The chute is the most difficult part of the course for the driver and also the site of
- 58:07Video: most accidents.
- 58:09Video: Drivers must turn very quickly while avoiding sliding or spinning out.
- 58:17Video: The hill 3 rollout indicates how well the buggy did in the free roll.
- 58:21Video: This can be measured by the number of windows on Porter Hall that the buggy passes before
- 58:25Video: being picked up by the hill 3 pusher.
- 58:33Video: On the back hills,
- 58:34Video: it's the pusher's speed and strength that keep the buggy moving fast.
- 58:44Video: Transitions must take place between the designated markers or else the team will be penalized.
- 58:52Nora: This only happens.
- 58:53Video: The final hill is challenging because it is flat
- 58:56Video: and the buggy can get away from the pusher.
- 59:04Video: The final pusher's hand must be on the push bar
- 59:06Video: when the nose of the buggy crosses the finish line
- 59:09Video: or else their time will not count.
- 59:14Charles: Do we see the person get out of it?
- 59:16Nora: No,
- 59:17Nora: dang it.
- 59:19Nora: But yeah.
- 59:20Chris: So we don't know for sure
- 59:22Chris: that it's a real person in there yet.
- 59:24Nora: But how would they have done that curve
- 59:27Nora: without a real person in it?
- 59:29Chris: AI?
- 59:31Charles: I was thinking it could just be like an RC car.
- 59:34Nora: Like a remote control.
- 59:35Chris: Yeah, it could be.
- 59:36Nora: I think there is a person in there.
- 59:39Nora: There's like the rider and then there's like pushers.
- 59:42Charles: Is this only done in one place?
- 59:44Nora: Yeah.
- 59:45Nora: I don't know how I found it.
- 59:46Nora: I don't know why it suddenly showed up on my For You page,
- 59:48Nora: but it is a whole sport that is only at Carnegie Mellon.
- 59:55Nora: So...
- 59:55Chris: And you said this started in the 20s?
- 59:57Nora: Yeah,
- 59:57Nora: 1920.
- 59:59Chris: Man, this is what people came up with
- 1:00:01Chris: before there was TV.
- 1:00:03Nora: Exactly,
- 1:00:05Nora: exactly.
- 1:00:08Nora: So it seems really interesting.
- 1:00:11Nora: Maybe if I would have known about this,
- 1:00:12Nora: I would have considered applying to Carnegie Mellon.
- 1:00:17Chris: There's different there's different designs.
- 1:00:19Chris: Okay. These are kind of fun.
- 1:00:20Charles: How do I fit somebody in that? It's like luge
- 1:00:23Charles: I feel like you could fit a child in it
- 1:00:27Chris: Mm-hmm, but not like a fully grown person not a fully grown adult
- 1:00:32Chris: So wild, I mean maybe maybe I mean they look that in that photo that perspective looks a little bit more sizable
- 1:00:39Charles: But like when they were pushing it, it looks like it's tiny like a little coffin
- 1:00:44Nora: Smaller than a coffin.
- 1:00:46Charles: Like a baby coffin
- 1:00:49Charles: Baby coffin baby shoes.
- 1:00:52Charles: Yeah new baby shoes never worn this one's name for sale
- 1:00:56Charles: That's the that's the thing, right? Yeah
- 1:01:00Chris: There's the children that will ride
- 1:01:03Charles: Children get in your vehicle.
- 1:01:06Nora: Yeah,
- 1:01:06Charles: I'm gonna push you down this hill
- 1:01:07Chris: I want to see I want to see there's got to be a video somewhere
- 1:01:11Nora: Someone getting in one of these maybe there's like a hatch that way or maybe they just like slide in I
- 1:01:19Charles: Don't see the only time we have ever seen somebody
- 1:01:23Charles: In it is that for their face is there that one shot and it looks like a baby's face
- 1:01:30Charles: Like not even like a toddler like newborn baby, maybe play this one
- 1:01:36Nora: This heat 17
- 1:01:38Nora: I don't know.
- 1:01:39Video: And they weren't going as fast.
- 1:01:40Video: I would have expected them to come up.
- 1:01:42Video: But these two here, they seem to be
- 1:01:43Video: I mean, it started from this point.
- 1:01:44Video: They're getting some really good speed on this.
- 1:01:46Video: You expect to see that Spirit Buggy running really well.
- 1:01:48Nora: They're having a hard time.
- 1:01:49Nora: Nice time at the 55.
- 1:01:51Charles: Can you cut to like the end?
- 1:01:52Video: You got one second faster than a Fringebee.
- 1:01:56Video: You can iron out a little bit.
- 1:01:57Video: It looks like they may have left a little time.
- 1:01:59Video: That may not be a day too time.
- 1:02:00Video: I'm not sure a 222 is
- 1:02:02Nora: They're talking to somebody.
- 1:02:03Charles: Okay.
- 1:02:04Chris: Are they?
- 1:02:05Nora: Yeah.
- 1:02:06Chris: Or are they just in on
- 1:02:07Charles: Are they gonna let this person out?
- 1:02:08Charles: Okay, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
- 1:02:09Video: No, they don't even let him out!
- 1:02:11Video: They just carry him away!
- 1:02:12Video: They've been checking his loss of speed through the chute
- 1:02:16Video: and over the last couple of weeks they've been going
- 1:02:17Nora: But there's a person in there.
- 1:02:18Chris: It's on a runaway.
- 1:02:19Nora: Look, there's sunglasses.
- 1:02:20Video: Especially with that buggy,
- 1:02:21Video: has been around like 25% speed loss.
- 1:02:24Video: Whereas SDC has really been in the 60s and 70s.
- 1:02:26Video: This is a scam.
- 1:02:27Charles: I think this is a scam!
- 1:02:29Nora: You think nobody's in there?
- 1:02:30Video: Far ahead,
- 1:02:31Video: but by the time they got to hill three,
- 1:02:33Video: SDC had really closed the gap.
- 1:02:33Nora: Well then,
- 1:02:34Nora: I guess my job next week
- 1:02:36Nora: will be to find a Carnegie Mellon buggy rider.
- 1:02:40Charles: Yes.
- 1:02:41Charles: Somebody who gets out of it or gets into it.
- 1:02:43Charles: That's the footage that we need.
- 1:02:45Charles: Okay,
- 1:02:45Charles: so I'm gonna go to the show notes.
- 1:02:48Charles: (laughing)
- 1:02:49Chris: Oh wait,
- 1:02:50Nora: wait. - Footage of someone.
- 1:02:51Nora: Wait,
- 1:02:51Chris: hold on, hold on.
- 1:02:52Chris: Wait, wait, wait.
- 1:02:53Chris: (dramatic music)
- 1:02:54Charles: Brainy news.
- 1:03:03Chris: We can go inside a buggy from the driver's perspective.
- 1:03:08Nora: Oh.
- 1:03:09Chris: What? - Take a look, yeah.
- 1:03:12Video: I mean, it's just such a niche experience.
- 1:03:16Video: I mean,
- 1:03:17Video: being a buggy driver is like being a thrill seeker.
- 1:03:20Video: And also you're kind of like the,
- 1:03:22Video: almost rallying point for the team
- 1:03:24Video: because you're driving the buggies that they built.
- 1:03:26Video: So everyone's kind of rallying around you.
- 1:03:28Chris: That looked like a human.
- 1:03:29Chris: That's a human.
- 1:03:30Nora: It's a community within itself.
- 1:03:32Nora: So look, she slides herself back in there.
- 1:03:34Nora: Oh my god.
- 1:03:35Nora: And then you drive just with your
- 1:03:37Video: So the way I drive is called Solaris.
- 1:03:38Video: It is a blue buggy with a yellow sun on it.
- 1:03:41Video: And I've actually been driving Solaris all four years.
- 1:03:47Video: I want to go fast.
- 1:03:49Video: Let's go zoom.
- 1:03:52Nora: This is cool.
- 1:03:53Nora: Wow.
- 1:03:56Nora: You see jack shit.
- 1:03:58Nora: (laughing)
- 1:04:02Video: I would say I kind of just become locked in
- 1:04:04Video: once I go down the free roll.
- 1:04:06Video: 'Cause when the pushers are pushing,
- 1:04:08Video: it's a little more just like,
- 1:04:08Video: okay, I'll just keep my buggy straight.
- 1:04:10Video: But then once I'm on by myself, I'm like,
- 1:04:11Video: all right, I'm gonna steer as good as I can.
- 1:04:14Video: I'm like, I'm so focused right now.
- 1:04:16Video: It's just so much fun.
- 1:04:16Video: Like I never get tired of going down the course.
- 1:04:20Video: Coming into CMU,
- 1:04:21Video: I knew that I wanted to drive.
- 1:04:23Video: I was like, I'm gonna find a team that will let me drive.
- 1:04:25Video: Safety is definitely the number one thing on my mind during roles.
- 1:04:29Video: Always was, but more so since I've become head driver,
- 1:04:32Video: because now I'm feeling protective over my drivers.
- 1:04:35Video: Because all of our new drivers this year are freshmen.
- 1:04:37Video: I'm like, all right, I got to make sure all of you guys are safe.
- 1:04:39Video: You're like my little ducklings.
- 1:04:42Video: Being a driver is also just such a small subcategory of buggy in general.
- 1:04:47Charles: So this is a very small person.
- 1:04:48Charles: Only a few hundred people in the world have ever been a buggy driver.
- 1:04:51Charles: Like a very short person to fit in that.
- 1:04:54Nora: I'm most glad that I did it CMU because it's just been such an amazing experience. I think so
- 1:05:03Nora: You'd have to be relatively small for that my fat ass would never fit
- 1:05:12Nora: What if they built a buggy that you could fit in and then you just
- 1:05:16Nora: Would you want to drive or you want to push? You just need to roll me sideways
- 1:05:22Charles: Down the hill like the like the cheese chasing competition
- 1:05:28Nora: That's me that is pretty good.
- 1:05:30Nora: Yeah.
- 1:05:30Chris: Yeah, I would watch the cheese chasing competition. That sounds fun.
- 1:05:33Charles: Wait
- 1:05:34Charles: Chris have you never seen this?
- 1:05:35Chris: No, that's a real
- 1:05:41Nora: It's gonna be good for next week we'll add it to the chasing it's a good one
- 1:05:51Chris: It's brutal
- 1:05:51Chris: "Where are they getting the tiny people?
- 1:05:53Chris: "I'm dying."
- 1:05:54Chris: But then she said, "I could totally do this."
- 1:05:58Chris: (laughing)
- 1:06:00Nora: Maybe it's bigger on the inside, you never know.
- 1:06:03Charles: Yeah, it's fucking Tardis ass shit.
- 1:06:06Charles: (laughing)
- 1:06:08Charles: It's very roomy in here,
- 1:06:10Charles: actually.
- 1:06:12Charles: Okay,
- 1:06:13Charles: folks.
- 1:06:14Chris: Like Homer Simpson with a rotisserie oven in his car.
- 1:06:18Chris: Got a little space.
- 1:06:19Charles: It is time!
- 1:06:20Charles: We've been putting it off for too long.
- 1:06:23Charles: "Twilight."
- 1:06:24Charles: "Twilight."
- 1:06:25Charles: "Twilight."
- 1:06:26Charles: "Twilight."
- 1:06:27Charles: "Twilight."
- 1:06:28Charles: "Twilight."
- 1:06:29Charles: "Twilight."
- 1:06:30Charles: We did it.
- 1:06:31Nora: "Breaking Dawn Parts" one and two.
- 1:06:32Charles: We did it.
- 1:06:33Charles: We finally did it.
- 1:06:34Nora: We did.
- 1:06:34Charles: We watched the final two movies
- 1:06:37Charles: of the "Twilight"
- 1:06:39Charles: epic eclipse,
- 1:06:41Charles: shit, what does she call it?
- 1:06:42Chris: "Breaking Dawn."
- 1:06:43Charles: No, I know.
- 1:06:44Charles: But the,
- 1:06:45Charles: what did she call this series?
- 1:06:47Nora: "Twilight"
- 1:06:48Nora: epic?
- 1:06:49Charles: What is she called?
- 1:06:50Chris: Oh, The Twilight Saga.
- 1:06:51Charles: The Twilight Saga.
- 1:06:52Nora: That's what it is, the saga.
- 1:06:54Charles: So we watched the final two ones,
- 1:06:56Charles: Breaking Dawn parts one and two.
- 1:06:59Charles: We watched it together,
- 1:07:01Charles: most of us.
- 1:07:03Nora: I watched part two with you.
- 1:07:04Charles: You watched part two with us.
- 1:07:06Nora: Which was the one that was really worth watching.
- 1:07:07Charles: It was just very much worth watching.
- 1:07:09Nora: Very much worth.
- 1:07:11Charles: So let's talk about Breaking Dawn part one.
- 1:07:14Charles: Breaking Dawn part one is a 2011
- 1:07:17Charles: American romantic fantasy film directed by Bill Condon
- 1:07:20Charles: from a screenplay by Melissa Rosenberg
- 1:07:22Charles: based on the 2008 novel "Breaking Dawn" by Stephenie Meyer.
- 1:07:25Charles: It's the sequel to "Twilight Eclipse,"
- 1:07:26Charles: the fourth installment of the "Twilight"
- 1:07:28Charles: film series.
- 1:07:29Charles: The film stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson,
- 1:07:31Charles: and Taylor Lautner reprising their roles as Bella Swan,
- 1:07:34Charles: Edward Cullen,
- 1:07:35Charles: and Jacob Black,
- 1:07:36Charles: respectively.
- 1:07:38Charles: In the film, Bella and Edward marry and become pregnant
- 1:07:40Charles: with a half-human, half-vampire child,
- 1:07:43Charles: which causes the Cullen family to become a target
- 1:07:45Charles: of Jacob and his wolf pack.
- 1:07:48Charles: Summer,
- 1:07:49Charles: yeah, we'll just keep it there.
- 1:07:52Chris: No, just read the whole article, Charles.
- 1:07:53Charles: This is just, we're just gonna read Wikipedia.
- 1:07:56Charles: Here's the plot,
- 1:07:58Charles: several months after the event.
- 1:08:00Charles: I'm really good at reading.
- 1:08:03Charles: How did we feel about this movie?
- 1:08:06Charles: What did we think?
- 1:08:07Charles: What are our thoughts of this,
- 1:08:12Charles: it could have been an email movie.
- 1:08:14Chris: I mean, I don't know how to review them separately
- 1:08:18Chris: because they're really two movies
- 1:08:19Chris: that should have just been one to start with.
- 1:08:21Charles: Right.
- 1:08:22Chris: So I'm gonna review them
- 1:08:24Chris: as just essentially one long story.
- 1:08:27Chris: The whole first movie seems largely unnecessary.
- 1:08:30Chris: It's a lot of plotting.
- 1:08:32Chris: It's a lot of, you know, scenes we had seen before
- 1:08:35Chris: but just drawn out somehow.
- 1:08:38Chris: This seems to have really been a victim
- 1:08:43Chris: of the idea of,
- 1:08:44Chris: oh, well, Harry Potter's last book
- 1:08:47Chris: was split into two movies, why don't we do it here?
- 1:08:49Charles: Yeah.
- 1:08:51Charles: Reviews site Metacritic gave the film a 45 out of 100
- 1:08:54Charles: based on reviews from 36 critics.
- 1:08:57Charles: Lowest rated installment in the franchise,
- 1:08:59Charles: which totally makes sense.
- 1:09:01Charles: It is not a good movie.
- 1:09:04Nora: It's not,
- 1:09:04Nora: like,
- 1:09:05Nora: the plot is not good
- 1:09:07Nora: and it's just,
- 1:09:09Nora: I don't know.
- 1:09:10Chris: It's just a lot of posturing.
- 1:09:11Nora: More of the same.
- 1:09:12Chris: And it's a lot of like,
- 1:09:13Chris: hey,
- 1:09:14Chris: we're gonna drag this out
- 1:09:16Chris: as long as we can.
- 1:09:19Nora: Exactly.
- 1:09:20Chris: Yeah,
- 1:09:20Chris: it really should have just been one movie.
- 1:09:22Charles: Here's a sentence from the Wikipedia.
- 1:09:26Charles: Among females only,
- 1:09:28Charles: females,
- 1:09:31Charles: the film received an improved A
- 1:09:33Charles: grade.
- 1:09:34Charles: Wow.
- 1:09:35Nora: It
- 1:09:35Nora: wasn't that good.
- 1:09:37Charles: It
- 1:09:38Charles: wasn't that good. - And
- 1:09:39Charles: also,
- 1:09:40Nora: it wasn't true to the book.
- 1:09:41Nora: There was no clinking.
- 1:09:43Charles: There was no clinking!
- 1:09:44Charles: Where's the clinking?
- 1:09:45Charles: As we have learned,
- 1:09:46Charles: their skin is like porcelain and they should be clanking,
- 1:09:48Charles: clanking like
- 1:09:49Charles: China.
- 1:09:49Nora: Right.
- 1:09:51Nora: Yeah.
- 1:09:51Charles: What we were going, what we talked about during the first film is we should try to recreate
- 1:09:57Charles: that on the show by grabbing a plate and smashing it over one of our heads.
- 1:10:03Nora: Yeah!
- 1:10:04Nora: Break away glass.
- 1:10:05Charles: Because to get like the sound of what it would have actually sounded like with a half human,
- 1:10:11Charles: vampire sex scene.
- 1:10:15Nora: Yeah, it was just not good.
- 1:10:18Nora: What was that?
- 1:10:19Chris: Nothing.
- 1:10:19Nora: A crash?
- 1:10:21Chris: I don't know.
- 1:10:24Chris: I think this story has interesting bones to it,
- 1:10:29Chris: but everything that they add to it to draw it out
- 1:10:32Chris: really kind of hurts the story.
- 1:10:35Chris: And even like, you would think,
- 1:10:37Chris: okay, well they split this into two movies.
- 1:10:39Chris: Maybe there's more character development for,
- 1:10:42Chris: you know,
- 1:10:42Chris: some of the other characters that frankly are much more
- 1:10:45Chris: interesting than the love triangle,
- 1:10:47Chris: which is like the other Cullens and some of the Wolf
- 1:10:50Chris: characters.
- 1:10:50Chris: Nope.
- 1:10:51Chris: They get zero screen time.
- 1:10:53Nora: Yeah.
- 1:10:54Nora: Like there's,
- 1:10:54Nora: there's just not the development that you're looking like,
- 1:10:57Nora: I don't know.
- 1:10:57Nora: It's just,
- 1:10:58Nora: it's boring.
- 1:10:59Nora: And then Bella gets pregnant and then like,
- 1:11:01Nora: the baby breaks her back and then dead Bella,
- 1:11:05Nora: you know,
- 1:11:05Nora: like
- 1:11:06Chris: Yeah, they do go full body horror for a minute.
- 1:11:08Chris: where the baby starts breaking her bones.
- 1:11:11Chris: Yeah,
- 1:11:12Charles: breaks her back and then she falls over
- 1:11:14Charles: and she breaks her fucking knees.
- 1:11:16Charles: (laughing)
- 1:11:17Nora: And like,
- 1:11:18Nora: and then Edward bites the baby out of her.
- 1:11:21Charles: Rips open, yeah,
- 1:11:22Charles: rips open her stomach.
- 1:11:24Nora: (laughing)
- 1:11:27Chris: And then during the pregnancy,
- 1:11:28Chris: she becomes so frail and gaunt
- 1:11:31Chris: that she looks like a Holocaust victim.
- 1:11:32Chris: (laughing)
- 1:11:33Charles: I know.
- 1:11:34Nora: And she only drinks blood for the baby,
- 1:11:36Nora: like Jesus Christ.
- 1:11:38Charles: Yeah.
- 1:11:38Nora: At least the pregnancy only lasted like two weeks.
- 1:11:41Charles: Can I just say that they reveal in Breaking Bad,
- 1:11:47Charles: or Breaking Bad, Breaking Dawn Part Two,
- 1:11:50Charles: that half human,
- 1:11:52Charles: half vampire hybrids can eat regular food
- 1:11:56Charles: or blood,
- 1:11:57Charles: it could be both.
- 1:11:59Nora: But it still killed Bella.
- 1:12:00Chris: It's pretty late in the game
- 1:12:03Chris: to be introducing new lore rules.
- 1:12:06Chris: I thought that was really lazy writing.
- 1:12:08Charles: Yeah.
- 1:12:09Charles: Chris, cut to my screen real quick
- 1:12:11Charles: because this is the best part that has come from the movie.
- 1:12:14Charles: Oh my God.
- 1:12:15Charles: This is the actual doll that they used
- 1:12:20Charles: for the worst named child on the planet,
- 1:12:23Charles: Renesame.
- 1:12:25Chris: Wait, can we
- 1:12:26Charles: Renesame.
- 1:12:27Chris: And that's why
- 1:12:28Chris: Can we talk about how stupid as fuck that name is?
- 1:12:31Charles: Oh.
- 1:12:31Nora: Is that why it's CGI'd?
- 1:12:34Charles: Yeah.
- 1:12:34Nora: Because this was so off-putting.
- 1:12:36Charles: Yeah.
- 1:12:36Chris: Why did they use this?
- 1:12:38Chris: I had a budget
- 1:12:40Nora: Because they used it.
- 1:12:42Charles: I don't because they wanted it to look like both of them. I guess I don't know this movie had a
- 1:12:48Chris: 127 million dollar budget.
- 1:12:50Charles: Well, they use that budget for getting like Lee pace and
- 1:12:56Charles: Everybody and their mother in this movie
- 1:13:01Chris: Yeah, that's that's the other big thing in this thing other than Rene's may being born is the fact that like,
- 1:13:06Chris: you know
- 1:13:06Chris: This is the whole like Avengers assembling during Infinity War,
- 1:13:10Chris: but nothing happens actually until endgame
- 1:13:13Chris: So you get like everybody's showing up and then being like wait, when's the fight? Oh not till the next movie cool
- 1:13:18Chris: I'm gonna be over here.
- 1:13:19Nora: Exactly.
- 1:13:19Nora: Yeah. No, it is a lot of that
- 1:13:21Nora: I thought it was really funny because I joined after the first one and I go
- 1:13:25Nora: I know what happened because I watched like five reviews of breaking dawn part one and that's that's all I really needed to see
- 1:13:32Nora: I saw the important parts. I know the hits but
- 1:13:34Charles: But Chris,
- 1:13:38Nora: I got more out of my reviews than Chris got out of watching the movie.
- 1:13:44Nora: Because I get there and Charles goes,
- 1:13:46Nora: "Chris doesn't realize."
- 1:13:47Nora: And I go, "Wait,
- 1:13:48Nora: he doesn't realize that like,
- 1:13:50Nora: oh yeah,
- 1:13:50Nora: Jacob imprinted on Renesmee."
- 1:13:54Chris: I must have been like mesmerized by Renesmee's creepy eyes or something.
- 1:14:00Chris: I don't know.
- 1:14:01Chris: Towards the end of the movie,
- 1:14:03Chris: Jacob or someone in his orbit
- 1:14:04Chris: says that he imprinted on Renesmee,
- 1:14:06Chris: which one,
- 1:14:07Chris: I didn't really fully understand what that meant,
- 1:14:10Chris: and two, I didn't really hear it,
- 1:14:12Chris: so everyone else is going like,
- 1:14:14Chris: "Ooh."
- 1:14:15Chris: And I'm the only one, I'm the idiot sitting there
- 1:14:17Chris: in the middle of the room who doesn't know what this means,
- 1:14:20Chris: and they're just like, "Oh, wait for it."
- 1:14:21Chris: In the second movie, I was like,
- 1:14:22Chris: "Okay, well, good thing we're watching it in five minutes."
- 1:14:24Chris: (laughing)
- 1:14:26Nora: And then we were like,
- 1:14:26Nora: "Oh, it means that he fell in love
- 1:14:28Nora: with the baby and Chris went,
- 1:14:30Nora: oh!
- 1:14:31Nora: (laughing)
- 1:14:32Chris: Which to me just seems so incredibly gross
- 1:14:37Chris: because he has spent what seems like 14 movies
- 1:14:42Chris: telling Bella,
- 1:14:43Chris: hey,
- 1:14:44Chris: you should ditch the zero,
- 1:14:45Chris: get with the hero over here.
- 1:14:47Chris: And meanwhile,
- 1:14:48Chris: then he goes,
- 1:14:49Chris: oh, you know what?
- 1:14:49Chris: Your baby is real cute.
- 1:14:50Chris: I'll just bang her instead.
- 1:14:52Nora: Yeah.
- 1:14:53Chris: What?
- 1:14:54Nora: Yeah.
- 1:14:55Chris: What?
- 1:14:56Chris: No.
- 1:14:57Chris: Why?
- 1:14:58Nora: Well, you know, Stephanie Meyer's brothers are both, she has a brother named Edward and
- 1:15:01Nora: a brother named Jacob.
- 1:15:03Chris: Gross.
- 1:15:05Charles: And she almost named the baby Edward Jacob.
- 1:15:09Chris: It's really,
- 1:15:11Chris: it's speaking of shoddy writing, it's really shoddy writing that her two name
- 1:15:15Chris: choices were Edward Jacob and Renesmee.
- 1:15:18Chris: Get the fuck out of here.
- 1:15:20Charles: Not just that.
- 1:15:21Charles: I would be fine if they did that and had one person being like,
- 1:15:25Charles: those are some shitty names.
- 1:15:26Nora: All right,
- 1:15:27Nora: like Charlie,
- 1:15:28Nora: he's like,
- 1:15:29Nora: plays the straight man in this.
- 1:15:30Charles: Hey,
- 1:15:31Charles: you are 18 years old.
- 1:15:32Charles: Those names suck.
- 1:15:33Charles: Don't name your child this,
- 1:15:35Charles: they will be bullied incessantly.
- 1:15:39Chris: Forever.
- 1:15:39Charles: Forever,
- 1:15:40Charles: forever being named after the half.
- 1:15:43Nora: Why not Charles Carlyle?
- 1:15:46Charles: Charles Carlyle is a great name.
- 1:15:48Nora: Right,
- 1:15:49Nora: that's way better.
- 1:15:49Chris: Charles Carlyle is a good one, yeah.
- 1:15:50Nora: Yeah,
- 1:15:51Nora: better than Renesmee,
- 1:15:52Nora: better than Edward Jacob.
- 1:15:54Chris: Olivia says,
- 1:15:55Chris: "Full House 40 years ago
- 1:15:57Chris: "could use real children,
- 1:15:58Chris: but somehow Twilight couldn't."
- 1:15:59Charles: Yes! - I agree.
- 1:16:01Chris: What the hell?
- 1:16:02Chris: What is the rationale for using the creepiest doll
- 1:16:05Chris: ever created since the Saw movies to like,
- 1:16:09Chris: oh, we'll just add some CGI onto that.
- 1:16:11Chris: And the CGI does not look good.
- 1:16:14Chris: It is so uncanny valley that it is frightening
- 1:16:17Chris: in a way that I don't think it was designed to be.
- 1:16:19Nora: It was really upsetting.
- 1:16:20Charles: Yeah, and they kept using the CGI
- 1:16:23Charles: for like when they had an actual actress
- 1:16:26Charles: playing the child at that point,
- 1:16:27Charles: like a child actress playing the child,
- 1:16:30Charles: they were still using weird CGI and it looked so bad.
- 1:16:34Charles: It was so bad.
- 1:16:35Nora: It was very upsetting.
- 1:16:37Charles: Like Chris, you were like complaining
- 1:16:39Charles: about the wolves looking bad.
- 1:16:40Charles: Holy shit.
- 1:16:41Charles: Like it looks like what
- 1:16:44Chris: I
- 1:16:44Chris: would take the wolves in the first movie any day
- 1:16:47Chris: over uncanny,
- 1:16:49Chris: creepy ass Renesmee demon baby. - Yes,
- 1:16:51Charles: for
- 1:16:51Charles: real.
- 1:16:52Nora: Either version,
- 1:16:53Nora: the doll version or the CGI version.
- 1:16:55Nora: Yes. - Both are bad.
- 1:16:57Nora: Cursed and evil.
- 1:16:59Chris: Cursed and evil.
- 1:17:00Charles: So once again,
- 1:17:01Charles: Chris, you can get to my screen.
- 1:17:03Nora: Cursed.
- 1:17:04Chris: Oh God.
- 1:17:05Chris: And evil. - Did they just go out
- 1:17:07Chris: of their way to make it look as terrible as possible?
- 1:17:09Nora: No, it just wore out.
- 1:17:10Chris: Did they get a deal on like a prop master was like,
- 1:17:14Chris: "Hey, I've got this baby."
- 1:17:15Chris: And they're like,
- 1:17:16Chris: "Whatever, just use that."
- 1:17:17Nora: Well, it's worn out.
- 1:17:17Nora: This is old.
- 1:17:20Chris: I don't think it started from a great place though.
- 1:17:22Nora: No, I don't think it did,
- 1:17:23Nora: but I don't think it looked this bad when it started.
- 1:17:25Chris: Yeah,
- 1:17:25Chris: that's scary.
- 1:17:26Chris: I don't like it.
- 1:17:27Chris: Make it go away.
- 1:17:28Nora: It's bad.
- 1:17:29Charles: All right,
- 1:17:30Charles: so Breaking Bad part,
- 1:17:32Charles: Breaking Dawn,
- 1:17:33Charles: shh.
- 1:17:34Chris: Now I wanna see a Twilight Breaking Bad mashup.
- 1:17:37Nora: It's out there.
- 1:17:38Charles: It's gotta be out there.
- 1:17:39Nora: It's out there.
- 1:17:40Charles: How did we feel about part two?
- 1:17:43Nora: It was my favorite of all of the movies.
- 1:17:45Chris: It was definitely a step up from part one.
- 1:17:48Chris: I was curious as to how things were gonna end
- 1:17:52Charles: 'Cause I asked you,
- 1:17:54Charles: in between,
- 1:17:55Charles: after part one,
- 1:17:56Charles: I was like, "Hey, Chris,
- 1:17:57Charles: what plot threads
- 1:18:00Charles: "still need to be wrapped up?"
- 1:18:01Charles: And Chris was like,
- 1:18:02Charles: "None,
- 1:18:03Charles: there's nothing else to wrap up.
- 1:18:05Charles: "They got married,
- 1:18:06Charles: it's done, they had a child."
- 1:18:07Nora: The Volturi!
- 1:18:09Charles: Right.
- 1:18:10Chris: That's how little attention was paid to the Volturi
- 1:18:14Chris: in movies three and four.
- 1:18:17Chris: Nobody gave a fuck.
- 1:18:18Chris: They were like,
- 1:18:19Chris: "We're the big threat,"
- 1:18:20Chris: and then it just all disappeared.
- 1:18:22Chris: What's-her-face fanning girl wasn't even in part one.
- 1:18:27Chris: She just took a breather.
- 1:18:29Chris: So I was like,
- 1:18:29Chris: okay, well maybe they were just like,
- 1:18:31Chris: okay, we'll live in harmony,
- 1:18:32Chris: whatever.
- 1:18:32Chris: She turned into a vampire.
- 1:18:34Chris: Far be it for me to second guess that.
- 1:18:38Chris: But yeah, I was just like,
- 1:18:40Chris: that's how I think poor the storytelling was.
- 1:18:43Nora: There was also a lot of anti-Italian propaganda
- 1:18:48Nora: and anti-Irish propaganda.
- 1:18:50Charles: Interesting.
- 1:18:51Chris: I mean, I wouldn't go so far as to call it propaganda,
- 1:18:53Chris: but there's definitely some slurring going on.
- 1:18:55Nora: Undertones, I guess, some currents of it.
- 1:18:57Chris: Yeah, there's some currents.
- 1:18:58Nora: Themes.
- 1:19:00Charles: She's very baseline.
- 1:19:01Charles: She like reads a Wikipedia article.
- 1:19:03Chris: Why are you sitting so far away from camera?
- 1:19:06Chris: God damn it.
- 1:19:09Charles: She has this tendency of like getting
- 1:19:12Charles: the least basic knowledge possible about a topic,
- 1:19:16Charles: being like, "Oh, I'm gonna be so progressive
- 1:19:18Charles: "about something."
- 1:19:19Charles: And then it's just like,
- 1:19:21Charles: it falls flat.
- 1:19:24Charles: Like,
- 1:19:25Charles: this is incredible.
- 1:19:26Charles: (laughing)
- 1:19:27Charles: You just spit all over my laptop.
- 1:19:30Chris: That's what you get for sitting back there.
- 1:19:33Chris: Get in your light, find your light, actor.
- 1:19:37Chris: (laughing)
- 1:19:41Nora: It's not a traditional vampire story.
- 1:19:45Nora: It's not,
- 1:19:46Nora: it's just for the sake of romance
- 1:19:48Nora: and then it kind of,
- 1:19:49Nora: I don't know,
- 1:19:49Nora: all of the other plot lines are secondary
- 1:19:51Nora: because the romance is so heavy.
- 1:19:53Chris: They tried to build up this
- 1:19:58Charles: Epic battle.
- 1:19:59Chris: This epic battle,
- 1:20:01Chris: and then they absolutely shit the bed,
- 1:20:04Chris: in my opinion.
- 1:20:06Chris: Obviously
- 1:20:07Chris: You mean the Wilhelm scream?
- 1:20:08Chris: We're gonna be spoiling the film.
- 1:20:09Charles: We'll get there.
- 1:20:11Chris: No, the Wilhelm scream was amazing.
- 1:20:14Chris: It was so blatant,
- 1:20:15Chris: I loved it.
- 1:20:17Chris: (laughing)
- 1:20:20Charles: So,
- 1:20:21Charles: we,
- 1:20:21Charles: the first 70 minutes of this movie
- 1:20:26Charles: is getting the band back together
- 1:20:28Charles: of characters we have never met before in the entire series.
- 1:20:33Charles: Carlisle is getting all of his friends together
- 1:20:37Charles: to go and talk to the Volturi,
- 1:20:40Charles: not even to go fight him.
- 1:20:42Charles: He's like, just to be there to be like,
- 1:20:43Charles: Yeah,
- 1:20:44Charles: we agree with them.
- 1:20:46Nora: Carlos is not a bad guy, leave him alone.
- 1:20:48Charles: They didn't create a forever child.
- 1:20:52Nora: So they're fine?
- 1:20:53Charles: We're good,
- 1:20:54Charles: we're fine.
- 1:20:54Charles: This is just a weird fucking little gremlin child.
- 1:20:57Charles: It's a blip,
- 1:20:58Nora: it's a blip.
- 1:20:59Charles: Okay,
- 1:21:00Charles: but I have a cut down here.
- 1:21:05Charles: It's a few minutes long of the final confrontation
- 1:21:08Charles: and our reaction to it.
- 1:21:11Chris: Before we get there, we completely forgot
- 1:21:13Chris: about the weird subplot that strangely got a lot
- 1:21:17Chris: of screen time of,
- 1:21:20Chris: or was that in the last movie?
- 1:21:21Chris: Which one?
- 1:21:22Chris: Where what's her face,
- 1:21:23Chris: Victoria's like creating
- 1:21:25Chris: that army or whatever and then they just all get slaughtered
- 1:21:27Chris: in like two seconds.
- 1:21:28Nora: That was the last one.
- 1:21:29Charles: That was Eclipse.
- 1:21:31Chris: That just fades it.
- 1:21:32Chris: Yeah,
- 1:21:33Chris: I mean.
- 1:21:33Chris: It all kind of bleeds together in a sea of mediocrity.
- 1:21:37Nora: Yeah,
- 1:21:38Nora: the three movies in the middle are like,
- 1:21:42Charles: All right.
- 1:21:42Nora: I like the last one. I think I think those are my two favorites.
- 1:21:46Charles: So Chris,
- 1:21:47Charles: hopefully I got this edited well enough
- 1:21:50Charles: To not get claimed.
- 1:21:52Nora: This is I mean,
- 1:21:53Chris: whatever.
- 1:21:53Chris: This is fair use
- 1:21:55Chris: YouTube and Lionsgate fuck off. This is reaction content.
- 1:21:59Chris: Yeah
- 1:22:02Chris: Okay, and I haven't seen this
- 1:22:04Chris: [laughter]
- 1:22:06Chris: I'm Chris Hansen.
- 1:22:08Chris: Yeah,
- 1:22:09Chris: I'm Chris Hansen with Dayline NBC.
- 1:22:11Chris: [laughter]
- 1:22:13Chris: We're here to sing.
- 1:22:14Charles: It wasn't just chat.
- 1:22:17Charles: [laughter]
- 1:22:20Chris: Are those condoms in your pocket?
- 1:22:23Chris: [laughter]
- 1:22:23Chris: I don't even remember what I said.
- 1:22:27Chris: [laughter]
- 1:22:29Chris: [laughter]
- 1:22:31Chris: [laughter]
- 1:22:37Chris: I did enjoy, I did enjoy Michael Sheen just chewing the scene.
- 1:22:44Charles: That laugh was incredible.
- 1:22:46Nora: I did very much enjoy Michael Sheen's performance in this.
- 1:22:49Nora: Yeah, that was great.
- 1:22:51Nora: I heard that from all the way over there.
- 1:22:53Nora: That you have super vampire hair.
- 1:22:54Nora: Oh, that's true.
- 1:22:56Nora: I think you're getting it.
- 1:22:57Nora: I'm not giving him credit.
- 1:22:59Nora: Take care of it.
- 1:23:01Nora: Yeah, you will.
- 1:23:01Nora: (laughing)
- 1:23:04Chris: It's so creepy.
- 1:23:05Chris: (laughing)
- 1:23:09Chris: Oh no.
- 1:23:11Nora: It makes it so much worse.
- 1:23:24Chris: He did the Akira slide.
- 1:23:26Chris: (laughing)
- 1:23:28Chris: It's time for the parkour battle of the century.
- 1:23:31Chris: Let her go.
- 1:23:33Nora: Cue the music, dance battle time.
- 1:23:39Nora: Let her go!
- 1:23:40Chris: Let her go.
- 1:23:44Chris: Nice.
- 1:23:45Chris: This was fun.
- 1:23:46Chris: I liked watching this.
- 1:23:49Nora: Me too.
- 1:23:50Nora: Ooh,
- 1:23:51Nora: yeah.
- 1:23:58Chris: Oh!
- 1:23:59Chris: No!
- 1:24:00Chris: Oh!
- 1:24:03Nora: Did you see my face?
- 1:24:03Charles: Yeah!
- 1:24:05Charles: Come back a little bit.
- 1:24:06Charles: We missed it.
- 1:24:06Charles: We missed the Wilhelm scream.
- 1:24:08Chris: The most obvious.
- 1:24:10Charles: Oh.
- 1:24:11Chris: Oh no!
- 1:24:16Chris: Yeah!
- 1:24:18Nora: Wilhelm scream!
- 1:24:21Chris: The most obvious Wilhelm scream of all time.
- 1:24:27Chris: (laughing)
- 1:24:29Chris: (laughing)
- 1:24:31Chris: Super Dracula has arrived.
- 1:24:33Chris: (laughing)
- 1:24:40Chris: (laughing)
- 1:24:42Chris: Yeah.
- 1:24:49Chris: And she can shoot flames now, what?
- 1:24:52Nora: No, it's a torch.
- 1:24:53Chris: Oh.
- 1:24:54Chris: When did she pick up a torch?
- 1:24:56Nora: She didn't.
- 1:24:57Chris: Oh,
- 1:24:57Chris: okay.
- 1:24:58Nora: This is a dream.
- 1:25:00Charles: I love Chris's realization.
- 1:25:03Charles: Just watch him.
- 1:25:06Nora: It was all a vision.
- 1:25:10Chris: Son de la bitch.
- 1:25:13Nora: I had a moment where I was like,
- 1:25:14Nora: "Oh, it's rude of them not..."
- 1:25:16Chris: Mandy is just like dying in the background there.
- 1:25:19Chris: Damn it all to hell.
- 1:25:22Charles: I don't think you guys realize how perfect this shot is.
- 1:25:25Charles: Because Mandy's just in the background laughing at you guys.
- 1:25:28Charles: (laughing)
- 1:25:29Nora: I knew it was gonna happen.
- 1:25:32Nora: And there was one point,
- 1:25:33Nora: it was like during that,
- 1:25:34Nora: like I saw it in my face where I was like,
- 1:25:37Nora: how much of this is real?
- 1:25:39Nora: (laughing)
- 1:25:40Nora: Like,
- 1:25:40Nora: I need to know how much of this is the vision,
- 1:25:43Nora: because I didn't know.
- 1:25:44Chris: I was not expecting that because I figured
- 1:25:47Chris: how in the hell would anyone be that stupid?
- 1:25:51Nora: Yeah,
- 1:25:51Nora: it was all a vision.
- 1:25:53Charles: That doesn't happen in the book.
- 1:25:55Nora: No, it doesn't, it doesn't at all.
- 1:25:55Charles: The vision doesn't happen in the book.
- 1:25:57Charles: This was something that like people like freaked out about in the theaters.
- 1:26:01Charles: They're like what the hell?
- 1:26:04Chris: I mean
- 1:26:04Charles: I certainly would have if I were if I were them but like in the end if it if they didn't have anything it would
- 1:26:11Charles: Have just been a wet fart out of a movie
- 1:26:13Charles: They're right like no reason to actually have a second movie if they just all showed up and then he's just like yeah,
- 1:26:19Charles: okay
- 1:26:19Charles: Bye
- 1:26:21Charles: Which to be fair,
- 1:26:23Charles: that's how it was written that's not great,
- 1:26:25Charles: right
- 1:26:25Charles: Right.
- 1:26:27Charles: The source material,
- 1:26:28Nora: they're working with
- 1:26:29Nora: a very limited source of material here.
- 1:26:31Charles: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:26:33Chris: Yeah, it's a bummer.
- 1:26:35Chris: I,
- 1:26:35Chris: you know, they had built up this,
- 1:26:38Chris: and poorly,
- 1:26:39Chris: very much throughout,
- 1:26:40Chris: they had built it up poorly,
- 1:26:41Chris: but they had built up this like ultimate confrontation
- 1:26:44Chris: between,
- 1:26:45Chris: you know,
- 1:26:45Chris: the good vampires and the good wolves
- 1:26:47Chris: against,
- 1:26:48Chris: you know, the Volturi,
- 1:26:49Chris: and then just being like,
- 1:26:50Chris: oh,
- 1:26:51Chris: you know what,
- 1:26:51Chris: why don't we just agree to disagree?
- 1:26:52Chris: We'll see you later.
- 1:26:53Chris: Get the fuck out of here.
- 1:26:56Chris: That is such a cop out.
- 1:26:57Charles: Yeah,
- 1:26:58Charles: for real.
- 1:26:58Chris: I honestly-- - It's such lazy writing.
- 1:27:00Nora: Love the vision.
- 1:27:01Nora: I think the vision
- 1:27:02Charles: They should have kept it as just like,
- 1:27:04Charles: the Jasper dies.
- 1:27:06Charles: Everyone dies. - Carlisle dies.
- 1:27:08Nora: Everyone dies.
- 1:27:09Chris: Yeah, you wanted to see like,
- 1:27:11Chris: the power of their love,
- 1:27:14Chris: you know, or whatever,
- 1:27:15Chris: like,
- 1:27:16Chris: completely trump over like,
- 1:27:18Chris: all of this like, destruction and everything.
- 1:27:20Chris: And that would have been earned
- 1:27:22Chris: had it not been a vision.
- 1:27:25Chris: But making it a vision is just like,
- 1:27:28Chris: I don't know,
- 1:27:28Chris: it's just the world's lamest cop-out.
- 1:27:31Charles: It sucks so much.
- 1:27:32Nora: I love it so much.
- 1:27:33Nora: I think it's hilarious.
- 1:27:35Nora: Oh, it's so funny.
- 1:27:36Nora: I think it's one of the funniest things
- 1:27:38Nora: and I think that's why this movie is one of my favorites
- 1:27:41Nora: because that is so fucking hilarious.
- 1:27:44Nora: Like,
- 1:27:45Nora: it's all a vision and then everything's fine.
- 1:27:49Charles: And everybody lives.
- 1:27:51Charles: And we're all happy.
- 1:27:53Charles: And we're married and our kid is fine.
- 1:27:55Charles: He's going to have sex with our other friend in a few years,
- 1:27:59Charles: probably.
- 1:28:00Nora: And then in the end,
- 1:28:02Nora: where there's
- 1:28:03Nora: the second scene of all of the cast,
- 1:28:08Nora: where they had to do a second credit scene at the end
- 1:28:11Nora: of Breaking Dawn 2,
- 1:28:12Nora: because there was a credit
- 1:28:13Nora: scene at the beginning.
- 1:28:14Nora: But they had to remind everybody who was in the Twilight saga.
- 1:28:18Nora: Who everybody was.
- 1:28:20Nora: Every single person.
- 1:28:21Chris: Including,
- 1:28:22Chris: including both victorious.
- 1:28:25Chris: (laughing)
- 1:28:26Nora: Not at the same time though.
- 1:28:27Chris: Right, right.
- 1:28:29Chris: (laughing)
- 1:28:29Chris: They each got their own full screen credit.
- 1:28:31Charles: Like every single person got like a turn to the camera
- 1:28:34Charles: like.
- 1:28:35Charles: (laughing)
- 1:28:38Charles: Oh,
- 1:28:39Nora: it was so funny.
- 1:28:40Nora: It was so funny.
- 1:28:42Nora: And like,
- 1:28:42Nora: even I have not seen the second one before
- 1:28:46Nora: and I knew that it was a vision.
- 1:28:48Nora: And so like knowing that going in made it
- 1:28:51Nora: Like it didn't ruin it at all.
- 1:28:52Nora: Like I was like, I don't know how much is the vision still.
- 1:28:54Nora: And so I thoroughly enjoyed it.
- 1:28:58Nora: Thoroughly.
- 1:28:59Charles: What a great fucking movie.
- 1:29:00Nora: Definitely my favorite of the five.
- 1:29:04Charles: I agree with you 100%.
- 1:29:06Charles: It's ass.
- 1:29:07Nora: It's so bad.
- 1:29:08Charles: It's so bad.
- 1:29:09Nora: But like,
- 1:29:10Nora: it's so funny.
- 1:29:11Charles: It's so fun.
- 1:29:13Charles: It's so stupid.
- 1:29:14Nora: It's so dumb.
- 1:29:16Charles: Chris, what did you think?
- 1:29:17Charles: In the end,
- 1:29:18Charles: let's do this.
- 1:29:20Charles: Breaking Dawn Part One, what do we give it reviews?
- 1:29:23Charles: I think it's like a three.
- 1:29:24Chris: I was gonna say three.
- 1:29:26Charles: I think it sucks. - Two and a half.
- 1:29:27Charles: It sucks so much.
- 1:29:29Chris: It sucks solely for the fact that it should not exist.
- 1:29:32Nora: Yeah,
- 1:29:33Nora: correct.
- 1:29:33Chris: And it's clearly just a cash grab.
- 1:29:37Chris: And yes, all movies are cash grabs in some way,
- 1:29:39Chris: but like this is just a blatant attempt
- 1:29:42Chris: to milk more out of the story.
- 1:29:44Nora: Yeah, the splitting of the stories was just not necessary
- 1:29:48Nora: and the splitting is what makes it the cash grab, I agree.
- 1:29:51Charles: Breaking Dawn Part II,
- 1:29:53Charles: how do we feel?
- 1:29:54Nora: It's like a five,
- 1:29:55Nora: but I enjoyed it like an eight.
- 1:29:58Charles: I love that as a review means,
- 1:30:00Charles: right?
- 1:30:00Charles: Where you know that this is a shitty movie,
- 1:30:03Charles: however it is delightful.
- 1:30:05Nora: I really had fun with this one,
- 1:30:06Nora: and you guys know how much I wasn't enjoying the other ones.
- 1:30:10Nora: I did not enjoy,
- 1:30:12Nora: I enjoyed the first one,
- 1:30:13Nora: but the other ones were like hard.
- 1:30:16Nora: But this last one, I liked a lot.
- 1:30:18Nora: I liked it a lot, it was so fun,
- 1:30:20Nora: it was so dope.
- 1:30:21Charles: I love when Remy Malek shows up and he's like,
- 1:30:23Charles: "Look at me control everything in the air.
- 1:30:26Nora: "I can control fire,
- 1:30:28Charles: I can control earth,
- 1:30:30Nora: and water."
- 1:30:31Chris: And that is basically the only scene he's in
- 1:30:33Chris: because you see him for five seconds
- 1:30:35Chris: in the grand finale that's not real and that's it.
- 1:30:40Chris: Like they brought in all of these extra people
- 1:30:42Chris: to do fuck all nothing.
- 1:30:45Charles: Right, he shows up and he's like,
- 1:30:46Charles: "Oh, I'm gonna hit the ground!"
- 1:30:47Charles: And he smashes the ground and the whole ground opens up
- 1:30:50Charles: to show magma in the ground.
- 1:30:52Nora: Dragged to hell.
- 1:30:54Nora: (laughing)
- 1:30:56Nora: Well, that was also when Rami Malek
- 1:30:57Nora: was not as popular as he was.
- 1:31:00Nora: Like, that was right when he was an up-and-coming actor
- 1:31:03Nora: as opposed to a star actor.
- 1:31:05Charles: Still,
- 1:31:06Charles: Lee Pace is in it.
- 1:31:07Nora: Lee Pace is in it,
- 1:31:09Nora: which is like a big bonus.
- 1:31:11Chris: Yeah, Lee Pace is fun.
- 1:31:13Chris: I,
- 1:31:13Chris: for my rating,
- 1:31:15Chris: I would say,
- 1:31:17Chris: like for the movie in general,
- 1:31:19Chris: I would give it like a seven until the ending
- 1:31:22Chris: and the ending's like a two.
- 1:31:24Chris: The ending is so god awful.
- 1:31:26Chris: So I guess that averages out to like a five,
- 1:31:28Chris: ultimately.
- 1:31:29Chris: What about for the entire series as a whole?
- 1:31:34Charles: I will keep re-watching the series until the day I die.
- 1:31:37Charles: (laughing)
- 1:31:39Charles: It's like every, it has to be every few years,
- 1:31:42Charles: right?
- 1:31:42Charles: It's not something that you watch regularly,
- 1:31:45Charles: but it's so,
- 1:31:47Charles: there's something about Twilight
- 1:31:49Charles: that is just so,
- 1:31:51Charles: it's a bad movie.
- 1:31:54Charles: It's a bad series,
- 1:31:55Charles: and it's not enjoyable.
- 1:31:57Charles: The cast didn't enjoy doing it.
- 1:31:59Nora: Did I kinda wanna cry during the last credit scene
- 1:32:01Nora: where they were showing all of the characters
- 1:32:03Nora: and having that look back a little bit, yeah,
- 1:32:05Nora: 'cause it's like the end, you know?
- 1:32:08Nora: But also,
- 1:32:09Nora: it's such a bad saga.
- 1:32:11Charles: (laughs)
- 1:32:12Charles: Like,
- 1:32:13Charles: I,
- 1:32:13Charles: I, it's,
- 1:32:15Nora: I would say the whole series,
- 1:32:17Nora: like out of 10,
- 1:32:19Nora: it's probably like a five out of 10
- 1:32:22Nora: as like a series,
- 1:32:23Nora: but culturally it's incredibly important.
- 1:32:26Nora: Like it's so important.
- 1:32:28Charles: Yeah.
- 1:32:29Nora: (laughing)
- 1:32:32Nora: This is so dumb.
- 1:32:35Chris: Yeah.
- 1:32:35Nora: And it's in the most random order.
- 1:32:37Chris: This fucking guy who shows up literally
- 1:32:40Chris: at the very end of the last movie
- 1:32:41Chris: gets a full screen credit.
- 1:32:43Nora: It's so funny.
- 1:32:44Nora: It's so funny.
- 1:32:46Charles: Like these characters who didn't even get named
- 1:32:49Charles: in the movie and get shown.
- 1:32:50Nora: They have like one line.
- 1:32:52Chris: Like what's your name?
- 1:32:53Chris: Atia, I guess, I don't know.
- 1:32:55Chris: That guy,
- 1:32:56Chris: that girl,
- 1:32:56Chris: cool,
- 1:32:57Chris: cool.
- 1:32:58Chris: Oh yeah, she did some stuff.
- 1:32:59Chris: Yeah.
- 1:33:00Chris: And creepy eyes.
- 1:33:01Nora: I kept thinking she was Tyra Banks.
- 1:33:03Charles: The fucking Amazonians.
- 1:33:05Charles: (laughing)
- 1:33:06Charles: Oh my God.
- 1:33:06Chris: These guys were hysterical.
- 1:33:08Chris: These are the fucking Statler and Waldorf of Twilight.
- 1:33:12Chris: (laughing)
- 1:33:14Chris: Hey, thanks for coming, that guy and you.
- 1:33:17Charles: From Lost.
- 1:33:18Chris: Sure,
- 1:33:18Chris: and then you.
- 1:33:19Chris: I don't even know what these guys did.
- 1:33:22Chris: That's your brother.
- 1:33:23Chris: Kate, who the fuck is that?
- 1:33:24Nora: The blonde one and then the other blonde one
- 1:33:26Nora: and the other blonde one and Lee Pace.
- 1:33:28Chris: Lee Pace is here for the check.
- 1:33:30Chris: I liked seeing Wendell Pierce,
- 1:33:32Chris: that I didn't expect.
- 1:33:33Nora: Who showed up in one scene.
- 1:33:35Nora: One scene.
- 1:33:36Nora: (laughing)
- 1:33:39Chris: Yeah, it just goes on, man.
- 1:33:41Nora: Really, it's so long.
- 1:33:42Charles: There was no need for
- 1:33:43Nora: How long is it?
- 1:33:44Nora: Three minutes and 34 seconds?
- 1:33:47Nora: (laughing)
- 1:33:48Chris: It's literally like Avengers Endgame.
- 1:33:50Nora: (laughing)
- 1:33:51Nora: It's so funny.
- 1:33:52Chris: But for such an inferior story.
- 1:33:55Charles: The way that it's in black and white
- 1:33:57Charles: feels like a in memoriam.
- 1:33:59Chris: Victoria one,
- 1:34:00Chris: okay?
- 1:34:01Chris: Victoria one,
- 1:34:03Chris: other girl.
- 1:34:03Nora: Look,
- 1:34:04Nora: it's really
- 1:34:05Charles: Victoria two is coming up.
- 1:34:06Chris: Some other guy,
- 1:34:07Chris: Victoria too.
- 1:34:08Chris: Victoria.
- 1:34:10Chris: (laughing)
- 1:34:11Chris: Yeah.
- 1:34:13Nora: But they don't even like,
- 1:34:15Nora: the last one that they do is Charlie Swan.
- 1:34:17Nora: They don't even end on like,
- 1:34:19Nora: Bella.
- 1:34:19Charles: Yeah, they do.
- 1:34:21Charles: Bella is the last one.
- 1:34:22Chris: Is she the last one? - Bella's the very last one.
- 1:34:23Charles: Yeah. - Oh,
- 1:34:24Nora: okay.
- 1:34:24Nora: Just the order in which these people are included
- 1:34:26Nora: just really.
- 1:34:28Chris: Well,
- 1:34:28Chris: the reason is actually,
- 1:34:30Chris: most of the time when you see movie credits for stars,
- 1:34:33Chris: it's contractual placement.
- 1:34:35Chris: So Kristen Stewart,
- 1:34:37Chris: it would have been in her contract
- 1:34:38Chris: to always receive the top billing.
- 1:34:41Chris: So they're just going in reverse chronological order.
- 1:34:46Chris: Which is why,
- 1:34:47Chris: even though these people aren't in this movie,
- 1:34:49Chris: they're still up toward the top.
- 1:34:52Chris: These guys,
- 1:34:53Chris: thanks for coming.
- 1:34:54Nora: Yeah,
- 1:34:55Nora: this guy. - That guy.
- 1:34:57Charles: Sad guy. - I loved this guy's character.
- 1:34:59Charles: That guy, okay,
- 1:35:00Charles: pause it real quick.
- 1:35:01Charles: That guy's character,
- 1:35:03Charles: where at the end he was like,
- 1:35:05Charles: finally,
- 1:35:06Charles: as he's being torn apart.
- 1:35:07Charles: Fucking awesome!
- 1:35:09Charles: That is so cool.
- 1:35:10Chris: He's the Eeyore of the Volturi.
- 1:35:13Chris: He's just like,
- 1:35:13Chris: man, I've had enough of this.
- 1:35:15Nora: Really?
- 1:35:16Chris: I'm so done.
- 1:35:17Charles: I want more of that.
- 1:35:19Charles: That's an awesome vampire right there.
- 1:35:20Chris: Yeah, that was pretty cool.
- 1:35:22Chris: He's just like, oh, let me rest.
- 1:35:24Chris: Fucking baby Vecna.
- 1:35:25Nora: Baby, he's such a baby.
- 1:35:27Chris: Dakota Fanning, who also did nothing
- 1:35:29Chris: in the end of the movie.
- 1:35:31Chris: Yay for Michael Sheen.
- 1:35:32Nora: He was great.
- 1:35:33Chris: He was great.
- 1:35:34Chris: The mom,
- 1:35:35Chris: sure,
- 1:35:35Chris: whatever.
- 1:35:36Chris: Weirdo Renesmee.
- 1:35:39Chris: Esmay.
- 1:35:42Chris: Jasper,
- 1:35:42Chris: who had like two more lines in this movie
- 1:35:45Chris: than he had in part one.
- 1:35:46Charles: Like 10 lines the entire series.
- 1:35:49Nora: And only four of them had an accent on them.
- 1:35:53Chris: (laughing)
- 1:35:53Chris: I'm sure if you broke down
- 1:35:56Chris: like their,
- 1:35:58Chris: like the amount of lines he had
- 1:36:00Chris: versus what he was paid for the entire series.
- 1:36:02Chris: He's probably the highest paid actor
- 1:36:04Chris: in the history of the world.
- 1:36:05Chris: Right.
- 1:36:06Chris: (laughing)
- 1:36:09Chris: Rosalie, she was awesome, but she also did nothing.
- 1:36:12Chris: That guy's there.
- 1:36:14Chris: Alice was cool.
- 1:36:15Chris: Alice was probably my favorite character
- 1:36:18Chris: of the whole series.
- 1:36:19Chris: I thought she was badass.
- 1:36:20Chris: I wanted to see her do more.
- 1:36:22Chris: And then at the end,
- 1:36:23Chris: and I realize this is the book,
- 1:36:25Chris: but she's not even in most of the last movie.
- 1:36:29Chris: She's off hiding or whatever.
- 1:36:31Chris: Yeah,
- 1:36:32Chris: for reasons that they don't fully explain.
- 1:36:34Nora: Her and Jasper go,
- 1:36:35Nora: "Ah, it's kinda scary,
- 1:36:36Nora: "so I think we're gonna check out."
- 1:36:37Chris: Kinda scary, Carlisle's cool, I like Tim.
- 1:36:39Chris: Way to go,
- 1:36:40Chris: Mike Dexter.
- 1:36:40Nora: Charlie, yeah.
- 1:36:41Chris: Charlie,
- 1:36:42Chris: thanks for coming and dying your hair.
- 1:36:44Chris: And then, and then of course,
- 1:36:46Chris: yeah,
- 1:36:47Chris: baby.
- 1:36:48Nora: It's so dumb.
- 1:36:49Chris: Meat man,
- 1:36:51Chris: meat.
- 1:36:53Chris: Meat man.
- 1:36:56Nora: The Taylor Lautner and Taylor Lautner just had a baby.
- 1:36:59Charles: Yeah,
- 1:37:00Charles: did you know that Taylor Lautner is married to Taylor Lautner?
- 1:37:03Chris: Yes, I did and I really hope that they named their baby Taylor.
- 1:37:08Nora: Let me check.
- 1:37:11Chris: Yeah, and then of course the the hero shot,
- 1:37:14Chris: "Hey,
- 1:37:14Chris: there's Bella looking duh as ever."
- 1:37:18Chris: I mean, that's a good shot.
- 1:37:19Nora: Lennon Taylor Lautner.
- 1:37:21Chris: I mean, yes, that's great.
- 1:37:22Nora: Her middle name is Taylor.
- 1:37:24Chris: Cool.
- 1:37:25Chris: That's so fucking dumb.
- 1:37:29Chris: [Laughter]
- 1:37:29Nora: Hey,
- 1:37:29Nora: when you're a Taylor Lautner
- 1:37:30Charles: It's better than Edward Jacob.
- 1:37:32Nora: When you're a Taylor Lautner,
- 1:37:34Nora: you gotta be a Taylor Lautner.
- 1:37:35Chris: I mean,
- 1:37:36Chris: more power to it, I guess.
- 1:37:38Chris: I don't know, I don't know what to say to that.
- 1:37:41Chris: I don't know,
- 1:37:41Chris: I would give the whole series,
- 1:37:45Chris: from a storytelling perspective,
- 1:37:48Chris: I would say it's
- 1:37:53Chris: a four or a five,
- 1:37:55Chris: but from an entertainment perspective,
- 1:37:58Chris: It is entertaining as hell,
- 1:38:00Chris: probably very unintentionally,
- 1:38:01Chris: and that's what makes it better.
- 1:38:03Chris: So from that perspective, I would give it a seven.
- 1:38:08Chris: So,
- 1:38:08Chris: yeah.
- 1:38:09Charles: Hell yeah.
- 1:38:10Chris: And apparently there are extended editions.
- 1:38:12Chris: Should we watch those?
- 1:38:13Charles: Yeah.
- 1:38:15Chris: No.
- 1:38:18Nora: It's suicide prevention month.
- 1:38:20Nora: We shouldn't do that.
- 1:38:22Charles: Not tomorrow.
- 1:38:24Chris: Yeah, tomorrow we can do it.
- 1:38:26Chris: (laughing)
- 1:38:28Charles: I'm joking.
- 1:38:29Charles: Well, I had some memes to go through things,
- 1:38:32Charles: but we're out of time.
- 1:38:33Charles: It's been
- 1:38:33Nora: Are we?
- 1:38:34Chris: No,
- 1:38:34Chris: what memes you got?
- 1:38:36Charles: Okay,
- 1:38:36Charles: so we've got
- 1:38:37Nora: Scroll.
- 1:38:37Chris: Memes, baby.
- 1:38:38Charles: So I pulled up the Twilight memes group,
- 1:38:41Charles: did all time top memes.
- 1:38:43Charles: I just wanted to kind of go through here.
- 1:38:45Charles: Jacob always showing up at Forsyte.
- 1:38:46Charles: Edward, he doesn't even go here.
- 1:38:49Charles: (laughing)
- 1:38:50Charles: I love this.
- 1:38:51Charles: This is kind of a killer Bella.
- 1:38:53Chris: Oh my God.
- 1:38:54Chris: That's good.
- 1:38:56Charles: You watching Twilight in high school.
- 1:38:59Charles: You watching Twilight first time at age 25.
- 1:39:01Charles: You're like my personal brand of heroin.
- 1:39:02Charles: Ha ha ha ha.
- 1:39:04Charles: Cat.
- 1:39:04Charles: [LAUGHTER]
- 1:39:06Chris: Wow.
- 1:39:09Charles: Adam Levine.
- 1:39:12Charles: [LAUGHTER]
- 1:39:15Charles: Incredible.
- 1:39:16Charles: Mm-hmm.
- 1:39:18Charles: You bring your kids from the Good Berk every night.
- 1:39:21Charles: What's their favorite part?
- 1:39:22Charles: When the Cullens play baseball.
- 1:39:23Charles: (laughing)
- 1:39:27Chris: Oh my God.
- 1:39:28Chris: (laughing)
- 1:39:29Chris: Oh my God, that's incredible.
- 1:39:30Nora: That's so funny.
- 1:39:32Nora: (laughing)
- 1:39:33Chris: Charles, why was that not our photo for this episode?
- 1:39:38Charles: I didn't see it until we started.
- 1:39:40Charles: (laughing)
- 1:39:42Charles: Yeah,
- 1:39:44Charles: so it's,
- 1:39:45Charles: congratulations folks,
- 1:39:46Charles: it's officially ho-ho-ho season,
- 1:39:48Charles: by the way.
- 1:39:50Charles: Frog and cranberries,
- 1:39:51Charles: it must be fall season.
- 1:39:52Nora: They do look like they're gonna attempt
- 1:39:55Nora: their vampire covenant in Lascaux.
- 1:39:57Nora: They're the three blonde girls.
- 1:39:58Charles: Yeah.
- 1:40:00Charles: (laughing)
- 1:40:01Chris: Nice.
- 1:40:02Nora: Yep.
- 1:40:02Charles: The skin of a killer Bella, same fish.
- 1:40:04Nora: The good one.
- 1:40:05Charles: Mood.
- 1:40:07Charles: (laughing)
- 1:40:09Nora: Me too.
- 1:40:10Nora: (laughing)
- 1:40:11Chris: Oh, that was another thing that annoyed me.
- 1:40:13Chris: Apparently in the books,
- 1:40:16Chris: both of Bella's parents try to talk her
- 1:40:18Chris: out of getting married.
- 1:40:20Chris: And in the movies, they're both just like,
- 1:40:21Chris: "Cool,
- 1:40:22Chris: whatever,
- 1:40:22Chris: I know you're 18
- 1:40:23Chris: "and the dude's like a vampire in this
- 1:40:26Chris: "and Charlie turns into a werewolf,
- 1:40:28Chris: but sure, why not?"
- 1:40:30Nora: Yeah.
- 1:40:32Chris: That was annoying.
- 1:40:32Nora: There's,
- 1:40:34Nora: yeah.
- 1:40:36Nora: (laughing)
- 1:40:41Charles: If you're first,
- 1:40:42Charles: if you're yourself,
- 1:40:43Charles: just remember that Bella got started in new school,
- 1:40:45Charles: fell in love, got dumb, fell in love with another dude,
- 1:40:47Charles: married the first guy, became pregnant, died,
- 1:40:49Charles: and became a vampire rather than a mom
- 1:40:51Charles: in less than 20 months.
- 1:40:52Charles: (laughing)
- 1:40:56Chris: And on that note.
- 1:40:58Chris: (laughing)
- 1:40:59Charles: Yes, that word, Bella move, you're blocking the moss.
- 1:41:01Charles: I wanna feel the moss.
- 1:41:03Charles: (laughing)
- 1:41:04Charles: Now that's the one we end on.
- 1:41:07Nora: Let me feel the moss.
- 1:41:09Charles: Folks,
- 1:41:10Charles: we've had a great time doing Twilight.
- 1:41:12Charles: We have no other content ever,
- 1:41:14Charles: ever.
- 1:41:15Charles: We have nothing going on for this show moving forward.
- 1:41:17Chris: We're just gonna stare at the camera.
- 1:41:19Charles: Like I did at the beginning of this episode.
- 1:41:21Chris: Exactly, that's gonna be the new shtick.
- 1:41:23Charles: I would do it, I would do a whole episode.
- 1:41:28Charles: Lips locked.
- 1:41:31Charles: Whoa, no.
- 1:41:32Chris: Nope. - Nope.
- 1:41:33Charles: Nope, not liking that. - Lips zipped.
- 1:41:36Charles: I would do that,
- 1:41:37Charles: I would do it.
- 1:41:38Charles: For the bit,
- 1:41:39Charles: for the bit.
- 1:41:40Chris: Yeah, but you already did it.
- 1:41:42Charles: For the bit,
- 1:41:43Charles: for the bit.
- 1:41:45Charles: For the bit.
- 1:41:47Charles: For the bit.
- 1:41:49Charles: For the bit.
- 1:41:49Chris: Folks, we're going to do a lot of fun stuff for spooky season.
- 1:41:52Chris: For the bit.
- 1:41:52Chris: We'll have movie recommendations.
- 1:41:54Chris: We're going to talk costumes.
- 1:41:55Charles: For the bit.
- 1:41:56Chris: We're going to talk Halloween.
- 1:41:57Charles: For the bit.
- 1:41:58Chris: I'm going to mute Charles' mic.
- 1:41:59Charles: For the bit.
- 1:42:01Chris: Thanks so much for watching.
- 1:42:03Chris: We love that you are here.
- 1:42:04Charles: For the bit.
- 1:42:07Charles: Thank you for
- 1:42:09Chris: Good night.
- 1:42:10Chris: [LAUGHTER]
- 1:42:14Video: This is Loudspeaker.
