Transcript
- 0:00What up, what up, what up? What's up with you, man? Same old same.
- 0:04Six mil. Keeping it trill. It's KG.
- 0:07Welcome to another episode of For The Fam Podcast. Yes, sir.
- 0:11How you feeling today, bro? I'm good, man. You know, it's about 95 degrees outside,
- 0:15but, you know, it's all good.
- 0:17Hey, it's summertime. You know what I'm saying? It's July. It's to be expected. Mm-hmm.
- 0:22Yeah, yeah, yeah. So, what's on your mind today, bro?
- 0:25What you want to talk about? So got a couple of things,
- 0:29but one of the things we're going to talk about is being invited to the cookout
- 0:34and why we're so quick to invite everybody to the cookout when they do something
- 0:39that we deem as being black.
- 0:44Expand on that. So for me, when someone shows compassion or does something,
- 0:51the one that I saw last week was a white guy stepping in and defending a sister that was.
- 0:56Basically being accosted at a at a store by an older white lady and he stepped in to defend her.
- 1:02Every comment, this dude invited to the cookout, this dude invited to the cookout.
- 1:06Did he ask to come to the cookout?
- 1:11I mean, we're making a plate because we're not you know how we are. But did he ask to come?
- 1:15I feel you. I feel you. I understand exactly what you mean by that.
- 1:20And I also get annoyed by that very same thing is we as black people and I'm a black man.
- 1:29I can only speak as a black person, but it appears to me that we are way more
- 1:38inclusive when it comes to our culture as opposed to any other ethnic group.
- 1:48We're we're just you know like you said anyone who does anything favorable we
- 1:55want to invite them to the cookout we want to accept them and and that's not necessarily a bad thing,
- 2:02but no one's trying to invite us no one's including us in anything so why are
- 2:09we so acceptive. No, no, no, that's not.
- 2:12Why are we so accepting when everyone else is trying to exclude us, trying to kick us out?
- 2:19And even the ones that are not trying to exclude us, because you and I,
- 2:23obviously we know a whole lot of people.
- 2:26Every different culture that we can go to their home right now and be welcomed without any issues.
- 2:32Like I said, the problem is, is that we just want to constantly invite people over this way.
- 2:40Whereas, as you said, a lot of other cultures are just simply not necessarily
- 2:44trying to keep us out, but they're not putting up the bat sitting on saying,
- 2:49hey, barbecue over here or hey, party over here. Facts.
- 2:54Facts. And it is is. To give some examples for those who can't quite grasp what
- 3:01it is that we're talking about, as we were discussing a few minutes ago before we started recording,
- 3:07people like Haley Steinfeld,
- 3:10because she's one-eighth Black, now all of a sudden, she's, come on to the cookout. Why?
- 3:18That girl don't want to be black forget what
- 3:21she said in the movie that girl ain't trying to be
- 3:24black why is she invited to the cookout you know
- 3:26because adele dates rich paul she's invited
- 3:30to the cookout why no one
- 3:34no one does that except for us and and that's not to say that i'm a what's the
- 3:40word isolationist i'm not that right because you're welcome you show up you're
- 3:45gonna you're don't eat just like everybody else yeah yeah and i'm not saying
- 3:49that we don't need allies.
- 3:51I'm just saying that perhaps we should be
- 3:54a little more strategic with our invites since we're staying on this cookout
- 4:00thing you know what i'm saying right so so that's just that's just something
- 4:05that that i wanted to talk about and you know and and and uh to look at it from
- 4:11a different perspective.
- 4:13And first, let me say this. We always got to say this.
- 4:17Just because we're pro-black does not mean that we're anti-white or anti-Asian
- 4:24or anti-Hispanic, insert whatever ethnic group you will.
- 4:29But we are pro-black. So saying that from a pro-black perspective.
- 4:37We're 13 percent of the population, according to the latest census.
- 4:43I know everyone doesn't fill out a census form. So that 13 percent may or may
- 4:49not be accurate is probably not accurate.
- 4:51But let's bump it up and say five percent of people don't.
- 4:55That's 18 percent of the population.
- 4:58America, U.S., not global. I don't want to construe that. At 18%,
- 5:05we need allies to accomplish anything.
- 5:08We're going to need allies.
- 5:12Right. The latest election at 18%. If every black person would have voted for
- 5:17Kamala, she still would not have won.
- 5:19So we need allies. So we're not saying we don't need allies for the revolution
- 5:25brothers out there at 18 percent.
- 5:2918 percent and winning no type of war, not even close at 18 percent.
- 5:37We need allies and consider the fact that some of y'all ain't going to fight
- 5:42anyway. So reduce that 18 percent.
- 5:45Yeah, you get a lot of people out here running their mouth on a lot of these
- 5:48podcasts and you see it on on the reels that pop up on Instagram and YouTube
- 5:53talking about what they're going to do and what they're not going to do.
- 5:56And yet they're not really doing anything.
- 6:00Not doing anything except, like you said, running their mouths.
- 6:03So. So, yeah, we're not we're not saying that to say we're taking donations
- 6:07for a school that we still waiting on.
- 6:12Yeah, we ain't we ain't we ain't saying that to say that we we we don't need
- 6:16allies again. We're not isolationist. That's not what we're saying.
- 6:21We're just saying that sometimes we just need to dial it back and just to just
- 6:27pull it back a little bit.
- 6:28You know what I'm saying? It's all right to be cool.
- 6:32It's all right. We ain't trying to make enemies. But that don't mean you invited to the cookout.
- 6:38I'm friends with a whole lot of people who ain't never been invited to my house.
- 6:43I'm just saying. And they probably won't be. But that don't mean we're enemies.
- 6:47It's a whole lot of my co-workers that I'm cool with. If they want to go out
- 6:52and get a beer, we can go out and get a beer.
- 6:54Am I inviting you to my cookout?
- 6:58Probably not. Well, we come from a different generation, too.
- 7:01You can't just let everybody in your house. Facts.
- 7:04You know, like you. Some things you ain't supposed to see.
- 7:10I mean, I mean, let's just keep it real. Think about Will growing up.
- 7:15Don't let nobody in his house.
- 7:17All day. Don't go to that, though. All day.
- 7:20All day. It is almost like if we playing a game, if we playing chess.
- 7:29Is certain things that we just want to keep to ourselves certain things certain conversations.
- 7:37Sorry you're not privy to just like it's certain uh conversations that we're not privy to,
- 7:43if if she was on the other foot and i get that and that's okay nor do i want
- 7:48to be exactly because if it doesn't involve me directly why do i care what you're
- 7:52talking about exactly if it doesn't involve me directly,
- 7:55I don't expect you to invite me into the room just to appease me,
- 7:59just to make me feel good. I don't care.
- 8:02Right, right, right, right. And I get it. I get it.
- 8:05I mean, there are some topics that as a black man, if I'm with a group of Caucasian
- 8:12people, maybe I don't need to hear it.
- 8:15Maybe I may take it the wrong way.
- 8:17Maybe I won't quite relate to what's being said because I'm black.
- 8:22Just like I don't care how much you hang around the hood as a Caucasian,
- 8:28there are some things that you will never understand because you're not black.
- 8:36Rachel Dolezal, everybody, well, I shouldn't say everybody, but we all remember
- 8:41her, you know, the woman who faked being black and probably still lives to this day.
- 8:47Even her, there are things that she'll never understand because you are not black.
- 8:55And anytime she wants to code switch back to being white, she can't.
- 9:00Is she invited to the cookout? No. I'm just saying.
- 9:07No. Not at all. Look, like you said, we'll hand you this plate.
- 9:11But no, you're not invited to the cookout. We can't trust you.
- 9:16It's just that simple. We can't trust. Hey, wait.
- 9:19I shouldn't say trust because there's some cats we can't trust that are black,
- 9:25you know, like Mr. Donalds and Mr. Scott.
- 9:28We can't trust them cats. neither so maybe maybe we should exclude them from the cookout also.
- 9:37Yeah y'all can't even drive down the street like yeah just don't even come on
- 9:41this block the neighborhood nothing we'll just throw your plate we'll leave
- 9:46your plate at the beginning at the front of the neighborhood yeah yeah yeah
- 9:50yeah yeah hey and and and then right,
- 9:54something that you brought up previously when we were discussing this we want to,
- 10:00invite outsiders, quote unquote, to the cookout.
- 10:05And at the same time, it's family that we don't even want to come to the cookout.
- 10:12Make that make sense. So I saw that a few times growing up, you know,
- 10:17certain people when they popped up, came walking through the back door,
- 10:21you know, would look that funny or different.
- 10:23But yeah, you're right. But we were willing to reach out and invite other folks
- 10:28into the house when your own flesh and blood wasn't really welcome.
- 10:34And I get it. I get it. Anybody's invite can be revoked.
- 10:40I get it. But yeah, we should try and mend those fences before we start trying
- 10:47to accept everyone else into the fold, if that makes sense.
- 10:53No, let's try and tighten it up with us.
- 10:56And then we can start bringing in other people into the fold.
- 11:02So, yeah, it's just something that we as black people need to consider,
- 11:09need to start thinking about.
- 11:12Again, I'm not trying to tell anyone how to live.
- 11:16I'm not the authority figure on that, nor will I ever be, nor do I want to be.
- 11:23Just something to think about, you know, food for thought. So next I want to
- 11:28talk about some current events and one in particular.
- 11:35It's at the forefront, probably because Superman just came out.
- 11:42I'm going to see it. You went to see it. Did you like it? Absolutely.
- 11:47I liked it also. I liked it more after I had a couple of conversations,
- 11:52one with you and then one with a buddy of mine who was a huge Superman fan just like you.
- 11:58I liked it more the next day after I thought about it. And then,
- 12:02you know, a couple of things hit me as I was sitting in my room.
- 12:06One of the biggest things I don't understand, which I'm sure you're going to
- 12:11touch on, is the conservative backlash of the movie itself.
- 12:18Criticizing someone who was created by two Jewish immigrants who put Superman
- 12:28to the forefront in their mind.
- 12:31To fight fascism in his
- 12:34comics 100 to jewish immigrants
- 12:37that's right but not superman too woke always
- 12:42have been always will be he's been beat nazis up since the 40s there you go
- 12:48not only nazis he also fought against the clan absolutely yeah okay yep yep
- 12:54so so so so yeah this whole thing about Superman being woke,
- 13:01it really sticks in my craw.
- 13:04First of all, the whole woke argument sticks in my craw.
- 13:10Whenever I hear it, my eyes glaze over because I'm just like,
- 13:13here you are again, trying to basically dog whistle about racism.
- 13:20And honestly, I'd respect them more if you just be a man about it just say what's
- 13:27on your mind but i seen a clip of uh.
- 13:31Kellyanne Conway back from the dead. Kellyanne Conway, I seen a clip of her
- 13:36on Fox News talking about we don't go to the movies to be lectured to or told how to think.
- 13:43Since when? What what the F are you talking about?
- 13:48Did you feel that way when The Mule came out?
- 13:52Did you feel that way when The Patriot came out? Are you serious?
- 13:59Did you feel that way about Schindler's List?
- 14:02Don't ever talk that stupid man. I'm trying so hard not to cuss.
- 14:09Do not talk that ignorant mess.
- 14:13Talk about we don't go to movies to be lectured to and told how to think.
- 14:18A good story always gives you perspective and challenges your thought process.
- 14:27I mean, we're supposed to learn from books, movies.
- 14:33It's a part of the learning process. Mass media is supposed to challenge us
- 14:37in ways that we wouldn't ordinarily be challenged.
- 14:41What I say, you know, those that don't know history are doomed to repeat it.
- 14:44Facts. And, I mean, we see so many things right now that are happening that
- 14:50just make absolutely zero sense that people are not more in uproar about what
- 14:57they're seeing in their day-to-day lives.
- 14:59But that's probably just because they're too busy complaining about a movie.
- 15:03A fictional character. A fictional character.
- 15:06A fictional character. Fictional. Wait until they see Miles Morales in a Spider-Man
- 15:11movie. They're probably going to boycott Marvel.
- 15:15Because I can't believe we got a Hispanic playing Spider-Man like he's new.
- 15:20But, you know, this actually goes all the way back to when...
- 15:28Nick Fury was first when Samuel Jackson was first cast as Nick Fury.
- 15:34And there was a there there there was a certain sect of the Internet that were going crazy.
- 15:40Nick Fury is not black. We can go to Star Wars.
- 15:44Why is there a black stormtrooper? Well, how do you know there were never black
- 15:50stormtroopers? They always had hoods on.
- 15:52Fifty percent of them could have been black for all that, you know,
- 15:55they always had hoods on. But It's that.
- 16:01And I guess it's grown louder over the last 10 years. I mean,
- 16:06I have a good idea as to why.
- 16:09But there's always been like this certain section of the Internet that tends
- 16:17to cry about fictional characters and things that really don't matter.
- 16:21And it's just like, man, just just look, stop saying it doesn't follow continuity
- 16:28source material. Just say that you're racist.
- 16:33It was funny to me that the sort of a spoiler, but not really the country.
- 16:42Jahanpour that's represented in the movie.
- 16:46Jesse Waters on TV saying, oh, so now Superman fights for Uganda.
- 16:52Sorry, I didn't see Uganda in the movie.
- 16:56So again, with your racist dog whistle, be a man about it, bro.
- 17:02The biggest issue with stuff like that, when they bring up, you're saying Uganda.
- 17:07There was nothing in those three or four scenes where that country was was shown
- 17:12in the movie that said right where that country was no at all never the people didn't represent it,
- 17:22at all the flag didn't represent it i don't even think they showed their flag
- 17:27did they no that's my point.
- 17:31There was nothing to show you
- 17:34that this was in africa right at all
- 17:37or that they were talking about africa other
- 17:41than the little dark-skinned kid who picked up the superman flag right that's
- 17:48it that's it that's it so i mean without putting your racism on display you
- 17:55are so putting your racism on display.
- 17:59But not only that, and I know we said that we're not going to get political
- 18:04in all of our podcasts, but to me,
- 18:10and I could be in left field on this, but when you don't have policies.
- 18:16All you have to talk about is culture wars. And that's all they do.
- 18:22All they do is tell you what you should and should not be mad about.
- 18:28I don't need you to tell me what I should like and what I shouldn't like.
- 18:34So all of a sudden, I'm not supposed to like Superman, who is an American staple.
- 18:40Not supposed to like Superman now.
- 18:43Man, stop it. So what? Like they were they were trying to make that big stink
- 18:47about gas stoves versus electric stoves.
- 18:51Huh? Are you serious? So now I'm supposed to be mad at electric stoves?
- 18:58Yep. Man, knock it off. Really?
- 19:01What does that have to do? It's my choice. What type of stove I want to have
- 19:06in my house unless you're going to pay for mine. I don't care what you think.
- 19:10No, quit. Quit trying to tell us what we should and shouldn't be mad about.
- 19:17Back in covid, you telling people not to wear a mask, you politicize covid,
- 19:24a health crisis, whether you believe covid is real or not. That's a whole nother issue.
- 19:31What's wrong with wearing a mask? What's wrong with trying to be healthy?
- 19:36What's wrong with telling kids to eat healthy lunches like they were mad at Michelle Obama?
- 19:43Who is she to tell me what to feed my kid?
- 19:45So you don't want your kid to eat healthy? Which, by the way, they're doing now.
- 19:51Literally everything that she wanted to implement. I mean,
- 19:54I was I was talking to one of the kids yesterday about this and we laughed about
- 19:59it because he said he remembers them joking about being mad when they took the
- 20:04vending machine out when they were in high school.
- 20:08And he said they used to joke about like, man, that's Michelle Obama's fault
- 20:12because they had the healthy choices in the vending machine. Right.
- 20:15So that was him joking about it. Right.
- 20:19These cats were on TV calling for her head. Yeah, they were.
- 20:24You're a socialist. Who are you to tell me what to feed my kids? Yeah.
- 20:28And literally now this gravel voice, so-and-so is on TV who knows nothing about anything healthy.
- 20:37I don't even think his voice is gravel, but go ahead.
- 20:40Anything healthy is now telling us the exact same thing that she told us over a decade ago. Yeah.
- 20:50Hey, let's put some healthy choices in school. Let's exercise more. Yeah.
- 20:55Which, by the way, we've always seen the first ladies get out there in the forefront
- 21:01and promote something. Right.
- 21:03That's their job. Nancy Reagan, say no to drugs. Yep. You and I both know that
- 21:08she was everywhere when we were kids. Yep.
- 21:10You know, Barbara Bush with the reading. Oh, man.
- 21:14The other George Bush's wife. Man, I was about to say tipper,
- 21:17but it ain't tipper. But all of them were trying to do something that benefited
- 21:24the children of this country.
- 21:27Yeah. And she was called a socialist for it. Mm hmm.
- 21:31Mm hmm. A socialist. Culture were. Culture were.
- 21:35But it goes back to what you said a few minutes ago when you have no policies to discuss. Yeah.
- 21:39You have to dream up things to talk about. Yeah. Like I'll give you an example going back to Superman.
- 21:45So conservatives have been talking about the movie forever. Well,
- 21:48for at least the last three or four weeks when people started getting early
- 21:50screens of the movie talking about how woke it was.
- 21:53One, it's woke to you because journalists are in the forefront.
- 21:57The importance of journalism was at the forefront of that movie.
- 22:02That part, which goes into what we talked about on our previous podcast. Right.
- 22:07While quietly, it has an 82% on
- 22:11Rotten Tomatoes and 93%, I mean from the critics, and 93% from the fans.
- 22:18So all that nonsense you're talking, you're speaking to who?
- 22:22Your base. No one is listening to you as it pertains to going to see that movie.
- 22:29Right. If you're a Superman fan or a comic book fan, you already know what Superman is about. Right.
- 22:35So when you're walking in there, you're walking in there knowing that at one
- 22:38point he fought Nazis in the Klan. Right. So no, he's not woke.
- 22:44I don't I don't I don't get the reason to try and make Superman a partisan issue
- 22:51that that that's that's the part that these things should not be partisan.
- 22:59A comic book, unless it's a comic book hero that's like intended to be political,
- 23:06these things should not be politicized.
- 23:10A stove should not be politicized. A showerhead.
- 23:15A showerhead should not be politicized.
- 23:19All of these things, electric vehicles, even though I'm not a fan of Elon Musk,
- 23:25electric vehicles should not be politicized.
- 23:29If you want one, go buy one.
- 23:31And if you don't, cool. Who cares? You got an option.
- 23:34No one's trying to force you to buy an EV. I
- 23:38don't I get it but
- 23:41I don't get it and I guess I should say I
- 23:44don't understand why others don't see it
- 23:47that's that's my biggest thing and to
- 23:50get to get back on point because we started this discussion talking about
- 23:53Superman have you seen
- 23:56this has been Dean
- 24:00Cain I saw something about something
- 24:04may that he may have said but oh wow
- 24:07i didn't even click oh wow so so so
- 24:10so dude then made a complete ass of himself basically talking
- 24:14about the immigration points that you were hitting earlier he's talking about
- 24:19this is why he thinks superman is too woke because of the immigration an emphasis
- 24:25on the movie and then the internet for all of his flaws clapped back real hard at dude.
- 24:33But okay I know I don't mean to cut you off but.
- 24:38Maybe I'm not seeing. They talked about immigration. What, maybe four minutes in the movie?
- 24:44If that, I think it's just unspoken because he's an alien that,
- 24:52you know. But here's the thing.
- 24:55In the Lois and Clark series with Dean Cain, he got served immigration papers.
- 25:01And the internet was like dude how can
- 25:05you say it's not about immigration when you yourself portraying
- 25:08superman were served immigration papers so
- 25:12it's like bro your hypocrisy or your
- 25:15idiocracy maybe both it's like
- 25:18well on display here like you don't even know what you're talking about bro
- 25:21oh the one that was on the cw well remember
- 25:24when i think his mom walked in the house she
- 25:27was talking about calling immigration
- 25:31smallville yeah smallville yeah and she turned around and said we have to do
- 25:35the right thing and he was like so did you do the right thing when you kept
- 25:38me there you go hidden there you go she's like that was different but that's
- 25:43always going to be the argument right it's like friday what about that time
- 25:47you try to jump in a smoke backyard Right.
- 25:48That was different. Right. No, it's not. It's not.
- 25:52But for them, it's always different.
- 25:57Yeah, it's it. Nothing applies when it's them, which also just frustrates me
- 26:04so much about the Supreme Court and everything, because now that Republicans
- 26:09have the power, it's different.
- 26:13But when Democrats got power, it's, oh, no, we're looking at this from the traditional
- 26:20aspect and the forefathers didn't want this to happen.
- 26:24So we got to rule against it. Yada, yada, yada, yada.
- 26:27But now that we know who.
- 26:31We don't we don't we don't see it like that. We don't know. Now our president
- 26:35basically got executive authority to do whatever he wants to.
- 26:39Come on, man. You can't have it both ways. And that's my issue is they try and have it both ways.
- 26:45And it's why their arguments are so elementary and go in one ear and right out the other.
- 26:53Not that I'm above your perspective, but do better.
- 26:57I don't think it's it's definitely not that we're above a perspective. We just we read.
- 27:03And when you read, you don't believe every single thing that a politician tells
- 27:07you. You know, we said it in the first episode.
- 27:09Just because we vote one way doesn't mean that we believe everything that that
- 27:14politician we voted for.
- 27:15So if they do something that's crazy, we're going to say something about it
- 27:20or have an opinion about what's going on. I think we probably said enough about Superman.
- 27:27So now it's time for my favorite rant.
- 27:32I'm still working on that, y'all.
- 27:35Rant about a random topic. And since we're both Bears fans, I want to rant about ESPN.
- 27:43And I'm not going to name the journalist. I don't think he deserves to be named.
- 27:49But he basically said, that the Bears didn't have, well, no,
- 27:56I don't want to put words in his mouth.
- 27:59He said the Bears get a B-grade for the offseason.
- 28:04While that's not terrible, it's also not great. Right.
- 28:10And I'm like, based on what, my guy?
- 28:14Yeah, because by week three, if the Bears are 3-0, they're not good enough.
- 28:19They're the worst 3-0 team in history. If they're 0-3, they're right where they're supposed to be.
- 28:23If they're 2-1, oh, yeah, they should have lost two of those games by 20 points.
- 28:29It doesn't matter, it seems, with ESPN what they do. And we understand that
- 28:34the team has not been great. We get that.
- 28:37But it doesn't matter what they do.
- 28:40Last season, Caleb Williams could have thrown 40 touchdowns,
- 28:43and they would have said, well, he should have thrown 50.
- 28:46I seen something this week, just this week, where someone was saying that his ceiling is Jordan Love.
- 28:57And I'm like, huh? But then they're like, but the probability of him being a bust is like.
- 29:08Percent which I guess is true for everyone but it's just like based on what
- 29:13based on what what have you seen yeah based on what nothing,
- 29:16where where where are you getting the Jordan Love comparison it's just like
- 29:20really dude it is the the the bias is just like and and and I get it they do
- 29:29things for clicks I think they try and be,
- 29:32outlandish they look for hot takes you know
- 29:35what I'm saying because that draws traffic but it's
- 29:39just like man you gotta be realistic with
- 29:42your analysis otherwise you lose someone like me
- 29:45i just go okay i see what you want i'm not clicking on one of your articles
- 29:49i'm not clicking on your link ever again you know it's just like like the the
- 29:54the b minus grade like dude basically downplayed every free agent signing basically
- 30:02said we didn't have a good draft.
- 30:04Didn't mention the fact that we got a whole new coaching staff
- 30:07with great coaches and it's just like how how can you look at all of these things
- 30:14that have occurred and basically give us a c well just not give any credit at
- 30:20all yeah like if you based on the grade the grade is bad in general,
- 30:26but to not give any credit at all well we we don't know if Caleb Williams can
- 30:32can do this or Or if he's basically saying we don't know if he's smart enough.
- 30:37Really? Like, he's not smart enough.
- 30:41Based on what? Based on what? Where's your evidence?
- 30:45Where's your proof? In Oklahoma, hell, in high school, and at USC, he excelled.
- 30:50All three stops, which is why he was a five-star recruit.
- 30:53Now, I'm not saying he's going to succeed just because he's a bear,
- 30:58you know, just because he's on the bears.
- 30:59But can we get more proof, more data, or evidence as to what this team is going
- 31:08to be with them under Ben Johnson's offense?
- 31:11Yeah, yeah, yeah. We need more data. I agree with you 150% on that. And it is just...
- 31:20I don't I don't know, man. I mean, you know, we love the Bears and I mean, like we love the Bears.
- 31:27So take it with a grain of salt. We could be biased.
- 31:30Yeah, we probably are biased.
- 31:33Just call it what it is. But even with my bias, I can still be somewhat realistic.
- 31:41Yeah. In my analysis. You know what I'm saying? I'm not I'm not going to sit
- 31:45here and tell you that the Bulls are about to win the championship.
- 31:48I'm not going to sit here and tell you the Bulls deserve an A for their offseason.
- 31:53I say the Bulls deserve an F.
- 31:57And that's me being a lifelong Bulls fan. A G. A G.
- 32:02I didn't like either of their draft picks. They haven't done anything in free agency.
- 32:07So, yeah, I can be honest about it even when it's my team.
- 32:12So, yeah, for these dudes to, like, just diss the Bears like this is just like. But it's every year.
- 32:18And it's every year. Every single year. The whole critique has been offensive line.
- 32:25Bears need to upgrade the offensive line.
- 32:28Bears need to upgrade the offensive line. Every year, Bears need to upgrade the offensive line.
- 32:33Well, we've upgraded the offensive line and you still don't like it.
- 32:39Hell, we upgraded the damn offense.
- 32:41Basically, basically.
- 32:44Went out and got a stud for wide receiver as long as he lives up to his potential.
- 32:50And that's still not good enough. Nope, nope, nope.
- 32:54Nothing's ever good enough. And that's the part that frustrates me.
- 32:59It's like, what do you want the Bears to do?
- 33:03And again, I think part of it is they understand that the Bears fan base is
- 33:09passionate and they know it generates clicks and comments and all of that.
- 33:15I mean, hell, we're sitting here talking about it. But still,
- 33:18it's just like, hey, man, knock it off.
- 33:21Go go do that with some other organization, some other franchise.
- 33:26Like, let us just be us.
- 33:30Let us enjoy the offseason. You know, you're you're you're you're making these
- 33:35assumptions, you're you're making these analysis and training camp hasn't even started yet.
- 33:41It's like like you said, just wait and see.
- 33:44Can we can we just wait and see? Can we wait until week four before you start
- 33:50trying to publish negative stuff, please? They never do.
- 33:55They absolutely never do.
- 33:57Hey, also, just a side note. The fever just torched Dallas.
- 34:02I haven't even been paying attention. Yeah, Beckers and Caitlin Clark put on
- 34:07the show. That's what's up.
- 34:11What's up so so i don't
- 34:14know man that that's that's that's my work anything you want to rant about real
- 34:19quick honestly nothing i could think of off the top of my head i think you've
- 34:24covered a lot of it i could touch on on the bulls for a second so we have watched what a decade plus,
- 34:33of mediocrity yeah maybe a
- 34:36little bit less i'm sorry a little bit more yeah
- 34:39i about to say maybe a little more I mean I was
- 34:42about to cuss but we haven't we haven't been in my
- 34:45opinion we haven't been competitive since the Jimmy Butler era
- 34:48so explain to me why we would give an extension to a coach who has proven to
- 34:57be a good regular season coach somewhere else and really hasn't done anything here.
- 35:06Where's the somewhere else? Florida.
- 35:10Oh, okay, because I was about to say OKC.
- 35:17He won some national titles. Yeah, okay.
- 35:21And had a stacked team. Right, but even in OKC we saw where the offense could be dominant,
- 35:29but there was never any his style of basketball
- 35:33basketball when he coaches his teams don't really have
- 35:36great defense he doesn't focus or put
- 35:39any emphasis on defense kind of like the opposite what we
- 35:42saw with Thibodeau when he was in Chicago yeah yeah only defense
- 35:46and not not a whole lot of focus on offense right and the reason we were able
- 35:49to generate so much offense because we had D Rose and Jimmy Butler right that
- 35:54that's the only reason we were able to generate so much offense and of course
- 35:58the you know the putbacks offensive rebounds from Noah and whatnot.
- 36:02But it drives me crazy that there's rumors that he's about to get an extension
- 36:07or may have already gotten it.
- 36:09So two things with that.
- 36:12They're going to relate. I'm going to tie these together to get back to the
- 36:15Bears. Congratulations, Ryan Poles, for getting your extension.
- 36:20That was another thing that was in the article. They say the brother didn't deserve it.
- 36:24And just like based on what the brother has rebuilt the team from the ground up.
- 36:30The salary cap was an absolute mess when he got here. Now we got salary cap.
- 36:36We can make moves. We're flexible.
- 36:38He doesn't have a lot to do with the new stadium. But, I mean,
- 36:41you can't leave him out of that discussion.
- 36:43So, yes, that brother deserves an extension. Good job. You.
- 36:50Like I said, you fixed the salary cap. You basically got a whole new team in,
- 36:55what, three, four years? You got a whole new team.
- 36:58Did he bat $1,000? No one ever does. Yes, he's missed on a couple of free agent
- 37:04trades or pickups, whatever you want to call it.
- 37:07Yeah, he kind of missed on Iberflues. But, hey, he's no one bats a thousand.
- 37:13Brother deserves another contract. On the flip side of that,
- 37:19the Bulls, AK and dude who working under him.
- 37:24Man, get all of them dudes up out of here.
- 37:30They're all terrible. Man, was that my phone or yours?
- 37:36I think it was yours. It was the time. OK, my bad, my bad, my bad.
- 37:41So. So anyway, what was I? Well, what was I?
- 37:44AK, AK and his assistant, those guys. Let me backtrack.
- 37:51Alonzo Ball messed up their players.
- 37:54I'll give you a small pass for that. No one can predict an injury. So.
- 38:02Ball getting injured, ruined the ball, Levine, DeRozan.
- 38:08Experiment. I'll give you a small pass for that.
- 38:12But since then, you have done absolutely nothing.
- 38:18We basically got a team full of guards.
- 38:22Not hit other than Bucelis. I like Bucelis. I don't think you've hit on your draft picks.
- 38:29I like Io, but we already got a team full of guards, so we kind of didn't need them.
- 38:36P-Dub not only was a terrible draft pick, but then you gave them an extension, a huge one.
- 38:43You gave Vooch an extension.
- 38:47One dude is way past his prime. Nobody else in the league would have gave Vooch that extension.
- 38:54Nobody else in the league would have gave P-Dub that extension.
- 38:58So it's just like, yeah, these dudes really need to go.
- 39:02And like you said, if Donovan gets his, another extension that nobody else in
- 39:07the league would probably do.
- 39:09So we're working on two regimes, not the ownership, because the ownership,
- 39:15you know, he's just going to hold on to this team until somebody makes him sell it.
- 39:19But we've had two front office regimes that we have disliked.
- 39:24Now, again, we're fans, so we could be biased. However, my eyes work.
- 39:30Right. I may wear glasses, but I still can see without them. Right.
- 39:34We have not made any moves to get better. Nope.
- 39:41And what I mean by getting better, I mean like getting to the point where we can contend. Right.
- 39:47Hell with the Pistons. Not just the playoff game, which seems okay to them.
- 39:54We are the worst team in that division, and it's not even close. It's not.
- 39:59Milwaukee's better than us. We already know Detroit's better than us,
- 40:03and Cleveland will win the division again. Right.
- 40:06So we've done nothing to get better. And then what do we do?
- 40:09We as fans, we can't wait for Lonzo Ball to get back. Trade him for nothing.
- 40:14Hey, we're going to help. To Cleveland. Don't.
- 40:20Up, go and take 80-94 on in Ohio, take a couple turns. In the division!
- 40:26In the division so he can come back and kill us. Good job. Good job.
- 40:33Yeah. We could talk for hours about Chicago sports teams and the disappointments we've had since 1998,
- 40:42but we've had two bright spots for both of us being fans of either baseball team in Chicago,
- 40:49but that's it those are the only two other than us going to the Super Bowl in 0506 that's it,
- 40:57this is my gripe and and we've had this conversation this is my gripe with Chicago
- 41:03sports one I don't like Chicago sports media but two the owners of all the teams
- 41:12are ridiculously cheap.
- 41:15And always have been. Always have been.
- 41:18L.A., New York, Chicago.
- 41:22Third largest market. We should be attracting free agents left and right.
- 41:30It has always baffled me that Chicago is not a free agent destination for a lot of players.
- 41:38It's always baffled me. And it comes down to one thing.
- 41:42I mean, because if you excel, the city loves you forever, forever.
- 41:48You're getting endorsements. You're getting commercials. You're getting national
- 41:53endorsements on top of that.
- 41:56Won't get is a big contract. So two things.
- 42:00One, I said the only bright spot since 98 was the two World Series titles in
- 42:05the Super Bowl appearance. My bad.
- 42:06We have three Stanley Cups in a five-year span. Facts. We forget about them. But guess what?
- 42:11They broke down for a reason. There was a scandal.
- 42:17A lot of people were fired. Some people were arrested. It is what it is.
- 42:21They will rebuild and win again before the Bulls win again. Sure.
- 42:26And going back to what you just said about the city loving you Angel Reese has
- 42:29been there what a year and a half she can get traded tomorrow she is a Chicago,
- 42:35period and they're terrible they will love her from now to the end of the time
- 42:40because of the effort they have seen her put in on the court and they're terrible right.
- 42:47They're terrible but they will like she is part,
- 42:52especially with you know all the outside noise going on
- 42:55yeah we could have talked about that too with rg3 but let's
- 42:58not yeah we don't want to talk about yeah yeah yeah but no
- 43:01i i feel you take take take for instance somebody like
- 43:04sosa until he changed himself into a white man chicago loved him the dude just
- 43:11weird yeah he is weird but until that happened even though he never won anything
- 43:17chicago loved him so yeah if you come to chicago and you excel,
- 43:23the city will wrap their arms around you.
- 43:27But you gotta come.
- 43:30I get it. I get it. That.
- 43:34Mess up the contracts. I get it. But somehow, some way we got it.
- 43:40We can't we can't depend on on the draft.
- 43:42You know what I'm saying? We can't. And and that's why Ryan Poles deserves that
- 43:49extension to bring this full circle, because he's come in and he's changed that culture. Yeah.
- 43:55For the Bears, not for Chicago, for the Bears.
- 43:58He's changed that culture to now Free agents want to come play here Drafting
- 44:04Caleb Williams Brings a quarterback That wide receivers Especially if Adunze
- 44:09and DJ Moore Show out That's going to attract other receivers To be like man
- 44:15I want to go there Running backs I want to go there.
- 44:19Defensive players If Dennis Allen get this defense The way we think he's going
- 44:24to get this defense I want to go play with them And if Caleb Williams doesn't,
- 44:28like you just said, what he's supposed to do.
- 44:30In the offseason, you have people like DJ Moore in the dunes.
- 44:32They're talking to other receivers. Like, hey, man, he's doing his thing.
- 44:35He's studying. He knows the play better. He'll get you the ball.
- 44:39But we had to go through the rough times to get that.
- 44:42We can't wait on the number one draft pick every 20 years. You know what I'm saying?
- 44:48We can't wait on D. Rose to be number one again for the Bulls.
- 44:52We can't wait on Caleb Williams. I mean, we got him now, but after he's gone,
- 44:57we can't wait 20 years to get another star quarterback.
- 45:00Right. Well, we can't wait for Mitch Trubisky.
- 45:02Lord have mercy, G. All right. That's it. That's it. That was the one.
- 45:08Look, we want to thank y'all for tuning in to the second episode of For The Fan Podcast.
- 45:13Once again, I'm Six Mill. Keep that in trail. OK, G.
- 45:17We still working on those socials, but once we get them all down,
- 45:21we'll post that information.
- 45:23Until next time, peace, y'all. Later.
