- 0:00Have you ever wondered if you're autistic?
- 0:01In this video, I'm going to breakdown ways in which you can
- 0:03kind of identify that and see if you can move forward in a
- 0:07diagnosis. All that's coming up.
- 0:08Hey guys, welcome back to the ASP world.
- 0:10My name is Dan. I have autism, ADHDOCD and
- 0:12dyslexia, and I make weekly videos all about this stuff.
- 0:15So if you're new around here and you want to learn more, you want
- 0:18me to hit the subscribe button by clicking the notification
- 0:20bell down below. Oh, if you're watching on the
- 0:21other platforms like Facebook, TikTok and Instagram, be sure to
- 0:24follow this page for more videos.
- 0:25OK, so I would advise this. I had a diagnosis of autism when
- 0:31I was 26 years old. So I went 20-6 years without an
- 0:36autism diagnosis, but I had prominent traits of autism the
- 0:40whole way through. Wasn't like I just randomly came
- 0:43across a diagnosis and was like, Oh yeah, well you know, this is
- 0:45what I'm going to do now. No, no, no, no.
- 0:46It was kind of like the behaviors that I had were very
- 0:49prominent. I had like a lot of traits.
- 0:52So the first thing I would say to do is to ask your friends and
- 0:55family members if there are traits of autism that they can
- 1:01identify within you. So autistic traits could be like
- 1:04lack of eye contact, sensory processing disorder, deviating
- 1:08from a routine, wanting very strict and rigid rules and
- 1:12routines in your life, all that kind of stuff.
- 1:15Because autistic individuals will highlight specific traits
- 1:19within themselves when they are autistic, right?
- 1:22And this is kind of something that is going to be apparent.
- 1:24This is what sets you apart from the other people because you
- 1:27will act in a way which is different to a typical person,
- 1:31right? And this is notable.
- 1:32And a lot of people will notice this and be like, ha, this is
- 1:34very interesting. It's odd or different, right?
- 1:37And these are traits of autism. What I would say to do was
- 1:38collect these and write them all down and see if there are many
- 1:43or just a couple, because it was a couple.
- 1:45And it could just be like, OK, well, maybe it's not autism,
- 1:47right? But if there's many, then it's
- 1:49kind of like, OK, well, there's something going on here.
- 1:51What could it be? But the second thing I would do
- 1:53is do the same thing. I would ask people if I have
- 1:55autistic behaviours, not just the traits, but behaviours
- 1:58because the the traits, the systematic traits of autism will
- 2:01will urge you to do behaviours. You could have OCD, you could
- 2:04have a version to certain things.
- 2:06You could have a very secluded, very conservative outlook on
- 2:10life. Maybe you want to stay indoors.
- 2:12Maybe we'll come reclusive. Maybe you don't want to go
- 2:14outside. Maybe you'll only play video
- 2:15games. Maybe you don't want to hang out
- 2:16with friends. These types of behaviours could
- 2:20be linked to autism, but you want to see if people are
- 2:23identifying unusual behaviours within you as a person.
- 2:27Do you? Are you currently experiencing
- 2:29different behaviours? Do you display different
- 2:31behaviours to other people online, offline, in society?
- 2:36And those things will show like a torch if you're an ultimate
- 2:40spectrum. But you should try and list them
- 2:43all out to see if there's something that you are
- 2:47susceptible to or something that you are kind of like accustomed
- 2:49to that if these behaviours are a byproduct of the trait of
- 2:53autism that you are experiencing.
- 2:56Now here is a word from today's sponsor.
- 2:59Hey, just a heads up guys, if there are any of you out there
- 3:01who are autistic and you're finding it hard or struggling to
- 3:04cope with situations right now, I actually have a program really
- 3:07affordable called Coping Secrets or Autism Coping Secrets.
- 3:11Now you can get access to this by visiting the link in the
- 3:13description down below and looking for Coping Secrets
- 3:15course, or you can go to learnautism.net/coping Secrets
- 3:20right now and get access to that course.
- 3:22It's highly recommended. It's my bestseller.
- 3:24Most people that come through my programs will take this one
- 3:27first and they swear buy it. It's a seven step program.
- 3:30It's it's really good. Check it out.
- 3:32OK, the next thing I would tell you to do, and this is a must, a
- 3:35must, must must, you must do an autism online kosher test, which
- 3:39is an AQ test, autism kosher, kind of like an IQ test but for
- 3:42autism. It was AQ test.
- 3:43Now you can go to my website www.theaspworld.com/autism test
- 3:51and if you go to that website link you will be able to take a
- 3:55test that will ask you a series of 50 questions and it will
- 3:58score you. Now it will give you a
- 4:00percentage saying like if you score this many questions this
- 4:04way, that is more likely to hit you on the old inspection.
- 4:06But if you score this many below, then it's probably
- 4:09unlikely that you're in the oldest inspection.
- 4:11But what it does do is it gives you a really good honest
- 4:13clinical based framework for you could print out those results
- 4:17and take them to your doctor. Which brings me on to the last
- 4:20point where I would print those out together with the evidence
- 4:23of the behaviours and the autism traits that you've collected
- 4:26from your family members and friends.
- 4:27And I would take all of those and I would book an autism
- 4:29assessment through a clinic or a referral from your doctor.
- 4:33Now, when doing this, take all the evidence with you and
- 4:36present them more evidence than they possibly would kind of
- 4:39think about because they're going to assess you there and
- 4:41they're going to give you an interview and all the assessment
- 4:43process pieces that go through with the DSM, the IDC and the
- 4:46ADA and the Disco and all those other, you know, diagnostic
- 4:50criteria things. However, if you also present
- 4:53present to them some kind of like friends and family data,
- 4:55which we've already kind of spoke about.
- 4:57And the online test that you did is going to help them with the
- 4:59formation of a clearer picture of the whole board, the bigger
- 5:02viewpoint of everything that makes you you and everything
- 5:05that makes you potentially autistic.
- 5:06If there's something that you are looking for, I'm going to
- 5:08leave a link down below to all of the things that I mentioned
- 5:11here today, specifically the test for the test on my website.
- 5:15All right guys, I'll see you in the next one.
- 5:17Peace.
